The building is beautiful, perhaps a bit of faded elegance but a beautiful place to stay none the less. Our room was very nice with a fantastic view, however we were located near the elevator and given the age of the building and the elevator itself we experienced the associated noise....next time same room type further down the hall would be great. Golf course was fun to play, albeit due to a record drought this year the course suffered.....that said the greens and aprons were obviously the focus of the staff and made for rewarding finishes at the end of each hole. Overall, a great stay!! If driving as we did, I would also recommend taking the ferry from St. John to Digby (or vice versa) as part of the experience....ferry pier is less than 2 kilometres from the hotel.

(원문) We had a lovely 3 night “staycation” at Digby Pines last week. We thoroughly enjoyed it – but there are caveats, and we fully appreciate why some recent reviewers were not happy. The positives: It is in a beautiful location! The grounds and gardens are lovely, and Digby is a sweet community. The whole place has a “grand old” vibe that we really appreciated. There are plenty of places to sit and relax, inside and out. Our room (202) was comfortable and charming, with extra seating and a bay window. While it was clearly dated, it was very clean, and the bed was comfy. The breakfast buffet was very good, with a wide selection of options to suit. The outdoor pool is large and clean, with lots of room to swim laps even with other people in it. Finally, the staff were all very friendly and polite, and clearly made an effort to be attentive. The negatives: The whole place is in serious need of renovation. The rooms are dated – and while we appreciated the charm, the walls are very thin, and the bathroom, while clean, probably hasn’t been updated since the 80’s. The elevator was broken, so anyone with mobility issues will struggle, as stairs are used to get everywhere. The pool, while lovely, was unheated (broken boiler), so while refreshing in hot weather, needs to be repaired for later in the season. The universal gym equipment was “out of service” but there was a treadmill, yoga equipment and weights. The tennis court hasn’t been used for years, although the tall weeds pushing through the middle could be used as a net (kidding). These are expensive to undertake, and hopefully indicate the owners' commitment to further renovate the rooms. We would hate to see the rooms be completely modernized -- part of the experience here is the history -- but insulation and updated bathroom fixtures are required at a minimum. So we will definitely go back – perhaps not before they renovate, and definitely not for dinner. If you are okay with nostalgia, you too might get beyond the issues and enjoy your time.
