What I hadn't realised from the website is that the lodge has its own private part of Addo National Park. This means when you go on the drives, you don't see another vehicle and in our case, you are the only couple on the drive! Back at the lodge, nothing seemed too much trouble for the incredible staff, Debbie, Connie, and Moses. They created a family feeling, whilst they took care of our every need. The food was incredible, you can have breakfast overlooking the park and on our second morning an elephant even joined us! But this place is all about the little things, like greeting you with a warm towel to clean your hands and face back from drives and putting the blanket in a tumble dryer so its warm before you go out on a night safari! My brother and I were referred to Silos by Homestead Guest Farm (appreciated) and we ended up in paradise less than 15 kms from the Addo Elephant Park Main Gate. Paradise with a beautiful farm house, lovely pool, fantastic garden. We shared Aloe, the luxury room for 2 nights and had breakfast 2 mornings. The room from the stoep & furniture to the front room containing the kitchenette and 1 single bed to the bathroom and the main bedroom containing the twin/double bed was immaculate to bottom and beautifully presented and serviced daily. The hearty breakfasts were delicious and filling while we appreciated the change every morning of the main breakfast plate accompaniments to the eggs made to order. Over and above that we had plenty of muffins, different breads, jams, cheese, coffees and teas, juices and a starter fruit salad & yoghurt to choose from and enjoy ! We loved every minute there (time spent on the stoep/under the pool boma/walking in/enjoying the garden was a highlight and a delight) and the 2 nights/days felt like 2 weeks ! Der Unterschied liegt in den Tieren, welche man jeweils beobachten kann; Game Reserves können jede Tierart intergrieren, Nationalparks dürfen nur die Tiere integrieren, welche in diesem Gebiet natürlich vorkommen. Wir haben eine Sunset safari gebucht, welche einfach traumhaft war. Jede Frage wurde ausführlich beantwortet und wir haben viel über die Tierwelt in der Game Lodge gelernt.
