Heard about this place for a few years but it's a little far from where I live. A friend insisted I try them so I did, and they're definitely my new favorite place. They're still a little far from me in Swatara but definitely worth the 20 minute drive. I base Chinese places on their General Tso's/sesame chicken, and this place nails it... it's perfectly crispy and not dry or rubbery/tough like most other places and their portion sizes are awesome. I got the General Tso's Chicken Complete Dinner which came with pork fried rice, an egg roll, a crab rangoon and enough chicken for at least another meal. My friend got the beef lo mein and said it was his new favorite spot for it too.
Only bummer is, they have a nice decent dining area, but I guess after the pandemic they only do basic dine-in where you order at the counter and take your stuff to a table if you want to dine in. Not a big deal but wish I tried this place before they changed their dine-in. Still definitely recommend trying Hong Kong Ruby though because the quality is some of the best in the area for sure.

Avoid here unless you want to waste your money. Tempura shrimp and beef and broccoli wasted. Decided to try again after not eating here a few months. Money down the drain. Beef tasted like cardboard and the shrimp tasted like plastic. Very little sauce on the beef and broccoli. Stay away.

My go-to only Chinese I will eat, all food prepared in house no frozen veggies, no after taste. The food is full of flavor and meat. We get lunch specials either chicken, shrimp, or beef and broccoli, or the orange chicken(I add broccoli to mine… which is extra 1.50 but it’s worth it). The veggie roll that comes with the lunch special is AWESOME! Lite and crunchy! 10/10 lunch special also comes with pork or egg fried rice, I get egg, my kids get port but it’s so goooooooood. please don’t go anywhere else you will be disappointed at the quality! The customer service is awesome as well!

We were already on our way to Sakana for lunch when we realized it was Monday - keep forgetting that most Asian restaurants close on Mondays in this area. We called Himalayan Fusion next door and confirmed it's closed as well. When we got to the strip mall, we were glad to find Hong Kong Ruby open - even on a Christmas Eve Monday. +1 on dedication!
We have never been here before and today's visit wasn't by choice. We looked at the menu and were disappointed that there's not one authentic dish. Aside from Pho, which I found it odd and out of place, the menu offers the typical American Chinese cuisine from the 1980's. But there's little recourse. We ordered just 2 dishes to go: Beef Chow Fun $10.95 and House Special Fried Rice $10.25. The manager was friendly and courteous during the ordering process.
The prices and quantities definitely seemed fair but the food we had was awful. The chow fun was soggy and greasy, with the noodles all clumped together. The fried rice was salty and downright stodgy. We struggled to finish either dish. These were worse than average Chinese food found in food courts. I'd like to assume that their regular chef took a day off on this day before Xmas, but we most likely won't give it another try.

It was our first time here and we will go back. My friend ordered a complete dinner, delicious and generous! I ordered their specialty, Hong Kong Beef and it was one of the best I ever had. Orange flavor just right and beef very tender. Their egg roll was amazing too.

I had the General Tso and steamed dumplings. Everything was very good. The fried rice had generous portions of pork and flavored well. The service was extremely fast. The staff is super friendly and accommodating. The General Tso chicken was prepared very well, decent cuts of white meat and the sauces paired well not too sweet and not too spicy. When you purchase a dinner combination you get an egg roll and a crab ragoon as well which were also tasty. Interior design is also nice. Has a good warm, inviting feel in this restaurant. Got food delivered. Ordered the General Tso's Chicken. When opened container it looked like it was someone's leftovers. Had 1 big chicken chunk, with rice all over it, like the dish was stirred/gone though, and barely any rice. The chicken and rice soup, was just chicken and rice no broth at all. So delicious! It was a little difficult to find from the road, but parking was easy. We were looking for a good Chinese buffet to try out a bunch of different dishes and experiment with new foods. The coconut shrimp, general tsos, and baked crab were especially tasty. All of the food was fresh and wasn't sitting out for too long. There was also a variety of simple foods for picky kiddos. The price per person for dinner buffet was only $13.99, which was well worth the money. This definitely became a permanent restaurant on our list!

The Royal buffet has officially taken top spot and I have never seen a lunch buffet that had so many items and the food was so good! This is the place to stop if you are in the mood for a buffet that has high quality food that is tasty! I am going to be back at this place every time I visit Hershey. It is a must try.

I dined at Royal Buffet on Christmas Eve for lunch with my family. Seven people total. Staff quickly accommodated us by putting tables together. They were good with refills of drinks and clearing used plates. They were polite and friendly. I gave 4 stars because food was definitely not hot; was between lukewarm to cold. I arrived at 2:30. Lunch ends at 3pm for reference. Major dissatisfaction. I was there once before about a year ago with same issue. Chinese buffet are getting harder to find especially on Christmas Eve. The only delivery option you can do is through Ubereats and they up each food items on their Ubereats menu for $4 to cover for their business use of Ubereats and let customer pay for it on top of the customer’s own delivery fee. My family and I have been looking for a good Chinese take out place near us for a while now and have finally found one! The food here was delicious, and the employee who took my order was very nice. There is plenty of seating here as well for anyone looking to eat in instead of taking it home. I got the chicken and mixed vegetables, my husband got the chicken lo mein, and our son got the chicken and broccoli, which I have added photos for reference. There was plenty of sauce in the food, the rice wasn't dry at all (we've had that experience in other places), and the crab rangoons were great and had just enough filling in them. We especially love the honey chicken, wonton soup, and veggie lo mein. You can see into the kitchen so you can see what is going on back there. It's unfortunate to see a number of bad reviews here. This is my husband and I's favorite take out Chinese in the immediate area (general Colonial Park area)...and we have tried many. We have never had a bad experience here once. Not only do we prefer their food over others, but the prices are much more reasonable as well (and in this economy!)...
Perhaps our experience is different because we don't order delivery. We live within a 3 mile radius, and so it has always made more sense for us to just go grab the food ourselves (for us it just makes more sense: the delivery times are always longer than if you just get it yourself, and I have a vehicle and it's not a big inconvenience to me to just go grab takeout, so why pay someone to do something I can easily do myself?). So, I can't speak for the delivery service in my evaluation.
As far as the language barrier goes, I guess it's simply what I've come to expect when ordering from a Chinese (or Italian, or Indian, or whatever...) restaurant. I don't expect an exchange of communication on the same level of an American restaurant...and I don't need that. They're short and to the point, and for me, that's all I really need (I prefer to avoid all "obligatory" small talk, if I can help it, haha).
Until something gives us a reason, this will remain our "go-to" Chinese take out. As of now, I have no complaints and only positive experiences (and we've ordered here many times). So, I guess, you'll have to decide for yourself, but I'd say it's at least worth giving this place a shot!

I got vegetable rolls, crispy and tasty. A small wonton soup that was very good. The broth was very flavorful, and the wontons had plenty of delicious pork filling. Even the wonton strips that came with the soup were good. A lot of times, you get stale strips, but these had a great crisp and flavor.

Don’t waste your money here. I’m not easy to disappoint when it comes to Chinese food but this was just not good, we asked for everything extra spicy and there was no spice whatsoever. The bourbon chicken tasted like straight honey and the general tso chicken was just fried breading pieces, no chicken at all. The Coca-Cola we they gave us was expired by over a month and the fortune cookies were also old. Just nothing good about this place.

These guys make amazing food and have great portion sizes for the money. Been getting food from them for over 8 years. These guys are busy most of the time so it's best not to ask for the delivery as it may take longer when they are slammed with customers but don't let delivery stop you from enjoying their food. Ordered delivery online and it estimated that it would take 40 minutes. I understand things happen so a little late is fine. But it was an hour and a half when our food finally arrived. My husband asked the driver for the total and he acted like he didn’t speak English. Once we opened the food, everything was COLD. We called the restaurant and the lady said she didn’t believe us and we would need to come there with our food. We own a business, pizza shop actually (we wanted something different tonight) and couldn’t leave. I even said if I could leave I wouldn’t have ordered delivery. I tend to only get what I know is going to be good so chicken,rich,and egg rolls. I have ordered a few other things from them and haven't since but yesterday I got my normal and she didn't even cook it properly, I can tell the temp of the oil wasn't where it normally was because of out long it took and how poorly my chicken turned out. I was scared to even feed it to my child, I wish they spoke better English so I could communicate properly but considering the lady that takes the orders isn't the friendliest most of the time. The tofu tasted fresh, though marginally over cooked. The sauce was good, though a bit too sweet. The rice noodles were excellent and tasted just like singapore mei fun, with a bit of curry flavor and a few veggies in the mix. Some things are a hit or miss but not that bad. I’ve been coming here since forever. Same menu same lady at the window. Don’t get the chicken noodle soup tho. That’s just a no. The chicken nuggets are tiny, wouldn’t recommend. If you get a combination dish with rice and let’s say beef and broccoli just know all the sauce from the beef and broccoli is gonna be soaking into your rice. Because they put the (COMBINATION) in one container. Meaning your rice might be soggy and I DONT like that.
Not a fan of the hot n sour soup. It wasn’t the right amount of sour to sweet ratio I like.
The people there are nice just be patient please. English is their second language. Even I, an Asian American struggle placing an order on the phone.

Got hot and sour soup, shrimp rolls, and cheese wontons. Wontons and shrimp rolls were decent, about what you would expect from any Chinese place. Hot and Sour soup was exceptional!!! Their slight twist on it by adding cabbage, carrots, and celery was a first for me, and I loved the crunch and heartiness of the soup. Broth was very very good, also!! As far as the food, those place would get 4.5 stars overall from me. The location cost half a star because it was tough to find parking, and I TRULY felt out of place there. Visiting from out of town and this place had decent reviews and was within walking distance so we gave it a try. I didn't care for any of my food. The sweet and sour chicken wasn't crispy, the fried rice was dry. The pork egg roll had very thick breading and everything was very salty tasting. Tried the cheese steak eggroll and there was hardly any meat in it, maybe a couple tiny pieces, just onions. My husband got the hunan chicken and he liked it and the white rice. He did not like the wonton soup, there was a gravy or sauce inside the wonton with the pork that was weird to him. Maybe Chinese take out is just different here but it's definitely not a place I would get again.
The service was fast, our order was being put together when we got there. The ladies were kind. The prices were very reasonable.

I’ve driven by this place dozens of times the 13 years I’ve lived in Harrisburg and only just today 11/11/2025 stopped in on my way home from Midtown Scholar for the lunch specials. My boyfriend got the pork lo mein with egg drop soup and I got the general tso chicken with hot and sour and it was really good! I usually judge a place based on their general tso chicken because it’s usually really good or awful - hardly any in-between - this place was not only good but was so cheap. All their lunch specials with a choice of soup or soda are $7.95 which is unheard of nowadays. This place isn’t near my home like others but I’m definitely going out of my way for it from now on because it’s so cheap and so much better than the others in the area.

They hardly prepare fresh food and when they do, its very little and they just blend it in with the old food that has been sitting out for hours. The noodles become hard and dry and so does the exterior of the orange chicken. Sometimes they will pour it in top of the old food in hopes of keeping it warm. Furthermore, when you ask for the fresh food that's above the old food, (ex: bourbon chicken or lo mien) they are VERY stingy with it. They give you more old food than fresh.
