We had an Entrée of Calamari as a starter to share which was tiny and priced at $19. The calamari was not fresh but tasted frozen and rubbery. The salad under it had no dressing. Price of this dish at its quality I would say should be around $10 max. Our 3 mains came out about 1 minute apart which was acceptable however for a restaurant charging these high prices I expect them all to come out together. Let’s break down each dish separately: BBQ Pork Ribs ($34) - With BBQ pork ribs you are looking of a properly cooked pork that is soft and not smelly. They overcooked the hell out of these ribs that a baby could eat it. Some of the bones were broken in pieces. It tasted old like it was cooked a week ago and just warmed up and dabbed with BBQ sauce. The chips was cooked good however they managed to screw that up by having no salt or seasoning on them at all. The coleslaw was just ok. This dish priced at $34 I would consider severely overpriced and it should be around $20 max. Chicken Kiev ($30) - Biggest disappointment of the night. The chicken itself was flavourless and the outside crumb was burned. A Kiev topped with a slice of Pineapple from a can and a piece of cheap bacon swimming in Maggie instant gravy (from powder) made me want to smack some sense into someone in that kitchen! A cross section examination of the inside of the Kiev showed a filling of a thickness barely about 2mm of something green, aged and tasteless. I’ve had 10 times better tasting chicken Kiev from VIC market and cooked at home. Again the chips were unsalted and the salad was undressed (I felt like a goat eating leaves). This dish priced at $30 should not be anything more than $20. Seafood Chicken ($34) - The prawns were cooked well but the chicken under it was overcooked and under seasoned. The cream based sauce beneath the proteins lacked flavour and was not fresh. Again the chips were unsalted and the salad was undressed or at best severely under dressed. This dish also priced at $34 is way overpriced and should not be more than $22. My overall opinion on this restaurant is that the food is severely over priced, the chef is probably untrained or doesn’t care or taste his own food, the atmosphere is stale and feels like an old library. If this restaurant was in a bigger city, they would have had to improve their prices and quality drastically or else they would have been facing shut down and going out of business. When an untrained lay person can cook far better food in their own home there is no reason to eat out at places like this… Save your money and your taste buds and eat somewhere else in town!
