자리에 앉아 주문을 받기 전까지 20분 정도 기다린 것 같았습니다. 기다리는 동안 옆 테이블에 앉은 사람이 메뉴판을 보고 뭘 원하는지 물어보는 소리가 들렸는데, 메뉴판에는 원하는 메뉴가 없다고 하더군요. 그래서 저희가 직접 주문할 때 참고했습니다.
주문하고 45분을 더 기다려 첫 번째 요리인 '까르보나라'가 나왔습니다. 그런데 지금까지 봐왔던 까르보나라와는 전혀 달랐습니다. 브로콜리와 닭고기가 들어 있었고, 치즈 소스 대신 페스토 소스가 뿌려져 있었습니다.
다음으로 아이가 먹을 치킨 너겟과 양파링이 나왔는데, 10분 후 어머니가 스캠피를 드실 때쯤에는 다 먹어 치웠습니다.
스캠피가 너무 익어서 포크에 꽂았더니 부서졌다고 웨이터에게 설명했더니, 웨이터가 사과하고 주방에 알렸습니다. 주방 직원분이 너무 무례했어요. 태도가 험악한 얼굴로 저희 테이블에 다가와서는 "스캠피, 문제 있어요?"라고 물었죠. 솔직히 제 저녁 식사였다면 엄마에게 하는 말투 때문에 환불을 요청했을 거예요.
아들과 저는 스테이크를 주문했는데, 스캠피 사고가 난 지 5분 후에 스테이크가 도착했습니다. 스테이크는 맛이 없었고 감자튀김과 버섯을 굽는 동안 식어 있었습니다. 주문했던 스틸턴 소스는 테이블에 없었어요. 제가 스틸턴 소스를 달라고 했더니, 주문을 받고 음식이 나오기 전에 결제를 했는데도 재고가 없고, 결제된 적도 없으니 영수증을 달라고 하더군요. 저는 동의했지만, 스틸턴 소스가 재고가 없다는 것을 빨간색으로 표시한 주문서만 출력해 줄 수 없다고 했습니다. 결제된 적도 없다는 뜻은 아니었습니다. 메뉴에서 다른 소스를 달라고 하지도 않았습니다.
주문표를 보여준 직원은 증거로 사진을 찍어도 된다고 했지만, 솔직히 말해서 그 순간 저희는 그냥 질려서 나가고 싶었습니다. 저는 저희 경험이 좋지 않았다고, 소통이 가장 중요하고, 미리 알려드렸어야 했다고 말했습니다. 직원은 사과하며 너무 바빴다고 했습니다.
전반적으로 경험은 좋지 않았습니다. 동네 Wetherspoon에서 반값에 더 맛있는 스테이크를 먹었는데, 몇 년 전에 가본 다른 사람들에게서 맛있다는 이야기를 들었기 때문에 아쉬웠습니다. 저희 옆에 앉았던 직원도 비슷한 경험을 했다고 하더군요. 직원은 매년 가는데 최근에 주인이 바뀌었다고 했습니다.

We visited a couple of days ago and our experience was not good.
We were seated and waited for what felt like 20 minutes before being asked for our orders. Whilst waiting we had heard the table next to us asking for things on the menu and they were told that that did not have what was asked for and kept this in mind for when we made our own order.
We made our order and waited a further 45 minutes to be served the first dish, a ‘carbonara’ however this was not alike any other carbonara we have seen, it was filled with broccoli, chicken and had a pesto sauce instead of cheese sauce.
My child’s chicken nuggets came out next along with the onion rings for the table and they were finished by the time my mum was served her scampi, 10 minutes later.
The scampi was as so overdone that they crumbled when piercing them into the fork, we explained to the waiter and he apologised and let the kitchen know. The woman from the kitchen was very rude, she approached our table with an attitude and said, “scampi, problem?” honestly if it had been my dinner I would have asked for a refund just for the way she spoke to my mum.
My son and I had ordered steak, it’s arrived another 5 minutes after the scampi incident, it was not good and was cold while the chips and mushrooms were roasting. The Stilton sauce had asked for was not on the table, I asked for this and was told that actually despite them taking the order and me paying ahead of the meal arriving that it was not in stock and I had not been charged for it and would like a receipt to show this. I agreed however they were unable to provide one and only the order print out which showed in red that the Stilton was not in stock, not that I hadn’t been charged. I was not offered another sauce from the menu.
The person who showed me the order ticket said I could take a picture of it as proof but quite honestly at this point we were just fed up and wanted to leave and I said that our experience hasn’t been a good one, communication is everything and we should have been informed, she did apologise and said that they were too busy.
Overall, the experience was not good and I’ve had a better steak for half the price from an our local Wetherspoon, which is a shame because I’d heard good things about it from other people who had been in years previously. The lady sat next to us, who had a similar experience, said that she goes every year and it had recently changed hands.
