The 30 best breakfast and brunch in Bari

I was so disappointed in this place. The restaurant looks so nice, but the staff there could be better. Maybe the waiter didn’t understand english well, but what is a problem to understood “iced coffee - the coffee with milk and ice”. This place is in tourist areas and it’s so important that staff speaks english. But it’s doesn’t matter right now. I didn’t feel taken care at this restaurant. The club sandwich was so big, and I couldn’t imagine how I’m going to eat that 😅 I have also doubts about the freshness of the ingredients, because I didn’t feel well after that. The salsa guacamole didn't resemble real guacamole at all.. I recommend working on a non-alcoholic cocktails 😉

For 15 euros you get: coffee, some water and juice. And on the plate... scrambled eggs fried on burnt fat, greasy bacon and cheap sausages, called "frakfunter" in the menu. The photos and design of the restaurant in art deco style, premium, but they serve cheap products, in an ugly form. I'll leave those orange pieces on the plate without comment.

Nice place. At the Lungomare so it has special charm. Coffee is great - I ordered Americano. Ice thé as well, very good.

Not a bad spot. We don't drink alcohol, so drink options are limited. That sucks, luckily we do love sparkling water so that's always a plus. You can always find that. The food was good but not sure I'd say excellent. Atmosphere was nice. They brought out little lamps once it started getting darker and that was pretty cool. We ordered an appetizer and meals and they brought everything out at once which also kind of sucked. We like our appetizers as appetizers and not sides. But it all did come out relatively quickly.

We had drinks here one evening and was very impressed so decided to dine the following evening. We were seated and had our order taken very quickly even though it was incredibly busy and the food arrived promptly and was delicious! All the staff we encountered were very friendly and the restaurant itself is decorated beautifully too, in a lovely art deco style. All in all, I’d definitely recommend this lovely restaurant! :)

We landed here for reason and that was to get into the shade. That then lead onto Lunch. Firstly the drinks, classic Aperol Spritz and a dark ale. Both as you can image went down well in this heat 😁. Then lunch, two pasta dishes and a salad, plus a bottle of water. A great mellow atmosphere, friendly staff. The food presentation was fantastic and the cost for what I would say was easily of high standard well €60. Not bad if you ask me. Will we go back, yep we shall. Well a week later we've landed back in Bari and we had to stop off again. And again great. Can't fault the staff and the food. Very mellow, no rush to leave, great. Thanks again and the next time we're passing through Bari we shall stop. 💃🕺🍷

Ordered a hamburger, received well done beef patty and a bunch of potatoes... I haven't heard of a burger without a bun... Bottled water was served although we didn't order one and was included in the bill.

We loved Gola!! It was our go to place when we were staying in Bari. Everything was wonderful from the staff to the creative food menu to the hours which was so convenient for us. Wish we could have taken Gola with us to Rome!🥰

We had a dinner party for my dad's birthday last week here and the quality of the food was beyond spectacular! Fresh, tasty and very well presented! You can tell they do their job with passion and attention to details! Being a vegan blogger myself I was very pleasantly impressed about their knowledge about dietary requirements, intolerances and cross-contamination. I'm definitely going back when in Bari! You must try their "assassina". It's their signature dish and the best one I've had!

This is a lovely restaurant! The staff were so kind and the food was just incredible. Seriously, me and my brother agreed that the “Pulp Fiction” was the best octopus we’ve ever had and not to mention it was presented so beautifully!! The pastas were also amazing with freshly made sauce and you could just taste that it was made properly. I recommend coming here especially to try the octopus.

Very good restaurant! Big portions and really tasty food! Try the tuna carpaccio! They also offer the homemade chips with BBQ sauce as a starter! The guy who served us was so polite and fast! Don't forget to tip!

The pistachio cornetto was absolutely delicious – flaky, fresh, and filled with rich pistachio cream. The coffee was also excellent – smooth, aromatic, and perfectly prepared. On top of that, the staff were incredibly friendly and welcoming, which made the whole visit even more enjoyable. Highly recommended if you're looking for a cozy spot with great pastries and warm service!☺️

Absolutely the best place in Bari! So sad we found it the day before we left. The best coffee and the best ice-cream. Try Mandorla limone, it’s perfect💛 And the host is just like you’d imagine a very friendly Italian

I managed to catch one of the rare moments when, walking by, it wasn’t crowded! I went in and was pleasantly surprised to see that the espresso machine is one of the few lever‐style models—arguably the best for flavor. I ordered a decaf, and when I paid, it cost €1.50—the most expensive decaf I’ve had so far in Bari!! No further comment needed. I’ll only come back if the price drops to €1.00.

This is a cozy cafe conveniently located at a walkable distance from Bari centrale. The staff are very friendly and welcoming. I have been here a couple of times, and on a hot summer day, their cafe granita with brioche was exactly what I needed, the perfect combo😋😋! If you're looking for a great breakfast spot or want to try one of the best granita in the city, definitely don’t miss this place.

Stumbled upon this unassuming restaurant completely by chance, and it turned out to be a wonderful surprise. They have a lovely outdoor seating area, where the atmospheric lighting creates a fantastic setting for an evening meal. We also loved the visible kitchen concept. The service was genuinely charming. The food was delicious across the board: a refreshing Aperol, superb pasta, and a very good dessert. It just goes to show that the best discoveries are often the most unexpected ones. Highly recommended.

The food and drinks at Tuccio were absolutely delicious, with every dish bursting with flavor and crafted with care. The service was excellent and the atmosphere warm, making it a truly enjoyable dining experience.

The service and food were both good, just nothing out of the extraordinary. The location is amazing, with the back terrace offering us both shade and coolness in the heat of the day, and having the extra bonus of being close to the Nonnas street, where fresh pasta is made.

Good vibes, great food, kind service.☺️✌️ However the carbonara is not the traditional italian style carbonara, it was still great, and the server noticed us before we finalized our order. And we also got a small discount at the end. 100% would recommend!😊

The first time I visited this chain I LOVED it - it offered the best ice cream and sandwiches which I’d had. But this time when I returned I had a horrible experience - I checked the menu out on the app and showed the waiter the specific sandwich which I wanted. He delivered the food and immediately requested payment. I then took a bite of the sandwich and quickly realised it wasn’t what I ordered, so I asked the waiter and he said ‘we didn’t have what you wanted so I gave you something else’ and that was it. This is awful customer service - you can’t just give the customer something else if it’s not what they asked for, and then charge the customer full price for the item they didn’t even want. To add on top of this, the toilet door doesn’t lock and there’s no toilet roll.

Pasticiotto was great! We tried lemon one and pistacchio one. Though there are no prices on the counter, you should ask for them. The whole thing is too sweet sometimes, if you’re not a sweet tooth - take one to share!

Disappointing Experience – Rude Staff and Poor Service Martinucci Laboratory in Bari was a letdown, mainly due to the rude and unhelpful staff. No one explains how the ordering system works, and I was abruptly told to go to the counter and get a ticket without any guidance. After ordering a New York cheesecake, I had to go to the other end of the place and wait for someone to eventually hand it to me—all while my coffee got cold. The cake itself was nothing like a real New York cheesecake. Not worth the frustration. 👎🥶🍰

The atmosphere is a bit chaotic. When we first went, we didn't know where to order from, we tried to ask but we were ignored. I figured it was because they were busy. So we tried again, this time for cocktails and once again ignored even though we waited patiently in line. Rollercoaster Ride is about to start: Finally, we went yesterday morning, when we found the register to order from (it's behind a pole on the side of the bar) the cashier seemed annoyed that we were there. There was a lady in front of us, she- the cashier, purposely ignored the customer for at least 10 minutes. When we finally got to the front of the line we too were forced to wait and was ignored by the same cashier. (She wasn't working, and I am not sure what the issue was. I don't think 🤔 this is a cultural thing because literally everyone else has been kind, helpful, accommodating and amazing) We tired to order, but the cashier informed us we would need get a table, if wanted to eat there, (the only tables available were outside in the cold), and she also informed us that someone would take our food order. No one did, therefore we decided to order breakfast to-go. Then a table inside opened up, so we grabbed it. All of a sudden the waiter started yelling at the lady next to us about there being a service fee to sit at the table. She seemed fine with the service fee, but the waiter kept yelling at her, she stood her ground and he finally let her be. She was there before us and her husband was trying to find a place to order the food. It was uncomfortable to say the least. The waiter pushed our table away from her and took our order. He was kind to us and helpful, but I felt really awkward about the situation. The place stays very busy. We visited three times to give them the benefit of the doubt. However each time we were ignored or treated poorly. The food and drinks were OK, we have had better at other cafes. If this place wasn't so highly recommended we wouldn't have gone back. I hate leaving bad reviews, but I just want future guests be aware.

The cafe has a wide selection of beverages and a large seating area in a classical building. Service was fast and the coffee was excellent. Highly recommended!

What a cute coffee shop. Built in what looks like a very old building. Wish I knew more about. You pay and take your receipt to the barista. My espresso macchiato had just the right any of foam. Hot and strong. 1.20 euro They even have a kitty! It was worth our 11 minute walk.

Expensive and bad. Paid 7,5€ for a tiny bad sandwich and an average espresso. The rude man behind the counter wouldn't explain the makeshift receipt. Bad experience!

Gelateria Gentile is pure gelato magic! 🍨 The pistachio and crema antica were heavenly...soft, creamy, bursting with authentic flavor. Even the pastries shine! The queue speaks volumes: excellence worth every minute. Best gelato in Italy! 🇮🇹✨

Totally worth the hype! The place is very well organized — you order your ice cream at the counter, get a ticket with a number, and wait for it to appear on the screen. Then you choose your flavors. The ice cream is absolutely amazing — the best I’ve had in Italy! It’s creamy, rich, and every flavor tastes authentic, not artificial. Highly recommend, 10/10! Even though it’s busy, I’ve never waited more than 15 minutes in line.

I visited this place based on a friend’s recommendation, and it definitely lived up to the hype! There were quite a few people working inside all very quick, efficient, and great at handling customers. They have a wide variety of options, all of which look amazing. I tried the gelato, and it was absolutely delicious enough to make me believe that their other sweets must be just as good!

Absolutely scrumptious! As someone who has a sweet tooth, this went down a real treat. This was the ‘bombette’ My good friend kindly let me taste some of their ‘peanut butter’ ice cream and I can confirm that was divine 😌 Truly recommend if you want to try some food quality desserts in Bari!

We had the dark chocolate and almond milk. It was so delicious! Rich in flavor. It was near my hotel and was recommended by many IG post so we drop by this place both for coffee in the morning and night for gelato.

I was there everyday during my stay in bari, gelato is okay, but not great in taste. But today lady who was outside said to me in very rude way that I can't sit outside with gelato which I have bought inside 😂 She didn't even ask me if I would be interested in coffee or she could just say outside costs 2eur. She said it while it's heavy raining and only one table out of 10 was busy also with polish tourists. Right next to me 8 people from Poland wanted to sit for cafe and gelato and she couldn't say anything nice to them also. It is so absurdly funny, I just sat there and patiently waited for waitress to take my order and she only came with stupid smile talking sth in Italian under her nose :) 90% of tourists now are from Poland, be respectful for us and other tourists, cause you have just lost a client and dozen others 😉

The gelato are incredibly delicious! There are so many flavors that it’s hard to choose. The service is very fast and friendly, even when the line is long.

Tuna salad is just a lot of cabage, cane of tuna and few tomato sliced, with no olive, any dresing, no even salt. When i asked for salt, waiter said he bring me. I waited a few years and didn't get it. If you expect Italian flavors here, you'll also wait and wait. Expensive and tasteless for this quality

I was disappointed by this place the coffee was bitter and unpleasant and the bathroom was a mess. There was no WiFi also. Only the location is good in my opinion everything else wasn’t good.

My wife and I were on vacation in Oct-Nov of last year and went to Caffe' Vergnano 1882 for a coffee and cake after some morning sight seeing. The pasticceria's coffee and freshly baked sweets were delicious and satisfying. Whilst the prices are on the higher side compared to other cafes in Bari, the central long large square location is perfect. So if you’re looking for a historic classic Italian pasticceria and you are in Bari, it’s a worth a stop. Recommended

Low-key casual bar with outside area - some fisherman are live catching stuff from the sea as I understand so you can try seafood. Music was a little too loud at times but a great area to enjoy some drinks with friends.

Visited this place one morning as it was strongly recommended by friends. It was nice to try such fresh sea food on a sunny morning with a cold peroni, whilst watching the the fisherman prepare the food throwing octopus all round the harbour. If you love sea food and something full of locals this is the place. I thought it would be a little cheaper considering it’s straight out the sea. I think the mix dish cost €25. 2 beers and the pastry was under €5

Freshly caught seafood straight from the source - the fishermen. Come here early and enjoy the freshest selection of seafood in Bari. Eat it raw, which is a bit of a strange sensation, because you only live once. Wash it down with a cold beer that’s sold right next door. 20 euro for a full platter.

Grabbing a beer down by the boat ramp and watching the sun set was a highlight of our visit to Bari! Such a great atmosphere around, cheap beers, what more could you want? We originally came down for the seafood (we couldn't find any) but were happy to stick around for the beer.

They could have done so much more with this place. Sustainable take away cups for example. The garbage bins are placed directly next to the water instead of in the back). The view is very nice though, prices fair for a beer.

Amazing place in Bari! If you want to feel the positive vibe of reggae music, drink a cold peroni on the pier, play cards or just spend the evening in a nice place, then you must visit this place. Nothing special during the day, fantastic at evening.

I don't understand why this place has so many good reviews. 14 euros for a huge piece of bread with a small avocado and a piece of salmon, I'm shocked. They have a menu on a QR code with a photo (which is great), but it doesn't reflect what you get at all. As for the coffee, I never thought that in Italy you could get coffee from a machine and water in a plastic cup with it! I'm very outraged and don't understand how they can charge such prices with such quality.

They were very slow. It took 50 mins to bring us pancakes and they were too dry. I have uploaded photos and also in their menu, the pancakes look delicious but it is not in reality. The photos are more of an advertisement of my iphone’s camera. It is also overpriced (12 euros for pancakes)

Nice little quiet place. I went there especially for the crepes. Ordered super crepe with nutella and banana which looked amazing on the menu picture. Crepe was good but it did not looked anything like on the menu, there was no filling on the inside of the crepe just on the top. So little bit misleading with menu pictures. Nevertheless good regular crepe but i came for a special one so little bit annoying. I would came back again.

Horrible experience, i don’t understand how they got so many positive reviews. I didn’t think that anywhere in Italy you could get a cappuccino from a machine. Salmon and avocado brunch is inedible. Pre-bought avocado paste, old pastry and not fresh salmon. Slow service and terrible music playing loudly all the time.

One of best places we have been so far. Pancake tacos are amazing, so tasty, just perfect. Fresh fruits, whipped cream and yummy sauces. And the way it is served, just wow. Staff very helpful and nice. For sure will come here again.

I've been there other times for breakfast or a fruit juice. There was an elderly woman who seemed to be the owner, assisted by staff from outside the EU. Today, August 17, 2025, only non-EU staff. I asked for a non-alcoholic beer and when I asked the price they first told me €4, then, after I insisted, €3! Simply an exorbitant price! They invited me to sit at one of the tables.

Excellent service and food with local ingredients. We really enjoyed our appertivo and dinner here. If you look for something not-mass-tourism, but pure Italian quality food and good wine, this is a place to recommend. Grazie !

The service was friendly, but a bit slow. The food was nice, we had four piccios (tinny pizzas with a different type of dough) and taralli (which weren't life changing). We were 4 people and the total was 65€.

They have plates of the day , we have a little hard time to communicate because of language but with positive attitude and a little Google translate we ordered some amazing plates . Bar Viola was where we started almost every morning during our month long stay in Bari Italy. My wife had her ‘latte freddo con caffè granita’ every morning, and she is not a caffè drinker! I enjoyed a cappuccino for the first week, and changed it to americanos to finish out the month. Their cornetto, brioche, and sandwiches are of highest quality and flavor. Yet what makes Bar Viola special, are the people who served us with pride, offered us occasional advise about Bari and the nearby towns, and treated us like part of the family. We were filled with wonderment and laughter watching Signore Viola zoom away on his scooter with a tray of espresso and other items for delivery…amazing service! We look forward to our next visit to Bari in the future to start our days again at Bar Viola!

This is a authentic place to calm down from a long day in Bari and I would really recommend to try this hidden gem whenever you are in Bari. The Puccia Capocollo was amazing! My husband and I went here for our first Italian breakfast. The owner was as kind and helpful even though there was a language barrier. My tea was delicious and my husband enjoyed his Americano. We both had pastries, but he does make hot breakfast sandwiches. Highly recommend! Sadly I didn't take any pictures.
