Lawang sewu just like before i visited. Great colonial building and history to tell. But unfortunetly, this time, when i go to the dungeon, the guide didn't not tell us about the history. More like to tell us about the structure of the building and more. And just to add some advice, if visitor buy the advance ticket like me, please provide the personal tour guide immediately, so we do have to look for the tour guide place on our own

This place is majestic. When visiting this place I would strongly suggest you to use a guide provided there, it’s not free service (for a family of four you will have to pay at least IDR100,000) but it’s really worth it. The guide will not only tell you the history about this place but they are good photographer as well, they will tell you the best location to take picture and will take a nice picture for you.

Really place to learn some of local history. The flow of the museum needs to be better sih. So people like me, when decided to go there without any guide still can do a proper tour. Maybe a guide letter / sign can help. Sssstt they got a hidden basement tour (some said it haunted!)

When learning about the Old Semarang, Lawang Sewu is one of the historical place to understand the history of how the Indonesian Train company was initially founded. From getting off the train at Stasiun Semarang Tawan, visiting the Old Town, then learning about the architecture of the initial Train Company HQ at Lawang Sewu and then closing it with the old St. Ambarawa Museum is a must.

A great place to know a little bit more about the Indonesian history with the Dutch. I love that there's something for everyone: adults, small children and older people. I got to do the immersive one - price a tad more expensive than the other entrance fee but worth it to have someone talk to you about the history behind Lawang Sewu. Prices probably will change so I'd refer you to their website. The immersive experience in Building B has AC so a good break from the heat and humidity. There are souvenir shops, photo booths, caricature making if you want the traditional route of having your photo taken, owls that perform tricks, of course eateries and lots of museum like information inside the buildings. Depending on what type of tourist you are - there's something for everyone. Just a little warning, they won't let you bring drinks inside so better to put them inside your bag and drink it after going in or buy from the vendors inside. For the elderly, they also have wheelchairs. Just leave your ID when borrowing one. Outside the gates, local vendors sell toys and other souvenirs too

It is more attractive now with the immersive experience so its not that boring as it used to. When visit Semarang make sure u try to come at least once

It is a great place to stay, think, and view cultural heritage of multicultural Semarang. The temple is truly huge, the smell of scent present everywhere, and as for Indonesia this place is clean and pleasant. I wish I had more time to sit down and clean my thoughts or even meditate but I only had two hours free during my business trip. Enjoyable and wonderful place.

Made a quick stop here just to seeing sight and take some pictures. Such a beautiful place with a very serene vibe. There is also a praying room for Muslim tourist here and there are many food stalls in case you feel like eating something after your visit. Lovely!

Historically interesting, especially the story behind it. But needs a heap of TLC because it's generally in poor condition and lots of rubbish lying around 😔 A good luck of painting to bring back the vibrancy of the statues and front building would go a long way to improving its presence 👌

They have different types of tickets, the more expensive ones as they said, could visit all the places. However, you are still prohibited to enter their “holy” rooms because they don’t categorize you as “PRAYERS”, meaning if you don’t pay extra for offering incense. So hilarious, because they actually have no idea whom they are praying and why they are praying for him. 你们知道郑和真的是谁吗？? 无知的可笑。

Food looked great when on bbq. Paid for big squid , got 1 squid skewer with 4 squid rings on it. Completely killed with sauce, rubbery , tasteless. Tako yaki were undercooked. Had to throw everything away.

It lost its glory days, the old times semawis is much better than the current semawis. The foods are becoming so mediocore and have less variations compared with recent bazaar and food stall, and it's not as festive unless it's near Chinese new year date. It does not feel special for locals , and for people from other town. The iconic food mostly gone , only modern foods. The seating is gettig very few. Place is still clean , even cleaner from the old times semawis.

I went there on saturday night, around 9pm, and the place was so crowded! There are lots of food stalls, some selling korean food. Only few stalls provide tables. Visitors are varied starting from teenagers to adults. The space is narrow and the place isnt clean because many buyers throw rubbish on the road. The food price is a bit high. For me, its not a kid friendly place. But if you love to taste kinds of food while walking and do not mind to queue, its a perfect place.

When i go here last time, it supose to open at 9. But after 9a.m the gate still bot open yet. Until 9.30. So i decide i will bot go inside . But afterall, the building itself, have a characteristic to look up

This is my first time in Old Town of Semarang. The church is just under restoration. Very good places to visit. Worth it.

Gereja Blenduk is considered to be a landmark in Semarang. Old yet iconic and historical. It used to be a Dutch church and up until now it is still operating. Open for public to visit but also open for Sunday Mass. Located at the heart of Semarang Old Town. The building is still properly maintained. The style is very 'Dutch'. Come in the morning for a great view and less crowded for photo session.

The church stands majestically under the sun... you can't miss it. Make sure you get an Instagrammable worthy shot in front of the church. After that, be sure to take a stroll across the streets admiring the ancient city. The roads, lamps, buildings - are colonial Dutch era that makes you think you are in an European town!

This rock and soil mine has very low activity during Eid Mubarak holiday so we can get clear picture of the view. The road is accessible when you use sedan or SUV but rather danger if you want to go further close to the mountain especially when it rain. We go 4WD and go deep and in high ground to get stunning view. Its worthed the risk actually, amazing view, would even better for sunset time. The road is much like off road, with many of big rocks hasnt cleared along the road. The minus thing is not recreational area it only open for public. So not much activity can be done but taking picture or filming the sight seeing.

My friend and I describe this as a “tourist trap.” It is included as a tourist destination in an article we found, but little did we know that it’s in a middle of nowhere. The canyon is not even natural-made. It’s made from the constant quarry. For photo’s sake, you can visit the place but make sure you have your own mode of transportation because I don’t think you can find a Grab car or bike when you’re there.

This place isn't managed as a recreational place so there are not many things to do here aside from taking photos. It's not far from the city but the road isn't good for vehicles so be careful. The mining activities continuously change the shape of the hills. The last time I was there, the hills didn't look good as in my previous visit.

THIS place actually is a sand mining area. The ongoing mining activities creates hills and canyons. People find it interesting to take photographs of the place specially in Golden Hours that is in the morning or in the afternoon. The place is Instagramable despite the path to the place quite hard to travel. It's best to use motorcycle to get to the location. It will be easy to move to other spots since the place quite big. Anyhow there is other way to reach the location by your own car. Just follow the route of dump trucks of the site.

Its a beautiful spot, perfect for photography, yet never go without preparation. Naturally the scene is an active mining location, there are numerous mining activities there, and the road is like an offroad track, a sedan or car with low ground clearence definitely can't go there, especially when its rain. Very dangerous! Despite all that, the place is a beautiful spot to take a photo.

It's actually a Quarry. What's left of it is today's scenery, haystack hills consists of volcanic rock layers. The view itself is quite pleasant, especially when around sunset. Quite dusty and windy in here, if you want to visit Brown Canyon I recommend to bring your own mask. Don't get too close to the hills, it's quite high and vertical. Be aware of rock avalanche.

A "tourist" sites that gives America a grand canyon scenery. This is the site of a stone quarry that is still active but is open to the public. If you visit here you'd better have a mask because there are still other trucks carrying mining materials. Access to this location is not so good. If you geologists this place is good to learn volcanostratigraphy. Hopefully, local authorities can make the site a conservation site so that it can become a natural tourist attraction with visitors.

Kota Lama Semarang is one of my favorite spots to walk around. The old buildings feel so unique and give that classic vibe, perfect for photos or just enjoying the atmosphere. Good place for chillin, or space for work. There are alot of colokan in mostly table. Smoking area is available for customer who want smoke and drink coffee in a same time (keselek dong haha), oh ... air conditioner also available in smoking area, so you will not kepanasen when you ghibah with your friends, and sebats for sure. Peacock has many drinks on menu, yku can pick coffee base or not coffee base, you can refill your drink if you choose lyche tea for 2 times. Just the tea not the lyche yes hahaha ... So many various pie also available in here, if you look look you suddenly ngiler because the whole look of pie is cemokotable.

tugu muda is one of the landmark of this city. it is a monument about 5 days war against japanese troops. as a local, i don't have any specific reasons to visit this place purposely. but for tourists, this is kind of "a must visit" and take some pics or video about this place. it is a public space like people park, free to visit and quite crowded during evening.

Tugu Muda is a stone monument in Semarang, Java commemorating the struggle for independence by Indonesian youth.[1] It was dedicated by President Sukarno on 20 May 1953 to commemorate the continuous five-day battle between the youth of Semarang and a Japanese battalion led by Major Kido from 14–19 October 1945. Japanese forces drove the Dutch from Indonesia as the "elder brother of Asia"; however, the Japanese were crueler to dissidents than their Dutch counterparts.[2] The stone monument consists of a foundation, body and head. One side of the monument is done in relief, with ornamental ponds and gardens surrounding it.

The monument is located in the middle of a roundabout that is also a small park with a pond, some benches to sit on while enjoying the surrounding, particularly as a spot to view the beautiful Lawang Sewu. There's a free drinking fountain, a really cool facility, but I didn't check whether it was still working or not.

Bad experience, doesn't live up to there expectations... not recommended to go there, a lot of climbing on steep slopes n steps.

Waste of time and Grab ride to get there and back. Nothing like photos and very poor compared to colourful village in Malang. If you already been to Kampung Tridi and Kampung Warna Warni in Malang, don’t waste your time to visit here.

uh i mean almost every city has this kind of rainbow village. There's one called Colorful Village in East Java as well. Not bad, but not the best tourist attraction spot. What i like from here is its cleanliness (considering that it is a village), vibrant colors, florists with their beautiful supplies in front of the village, and its wall paintings.💖

Great place to visit and take photos! So colorful and lovely. Don't forget to buy some flowers to make your photos aesthetic af. Just so you know, you'll need several hours to explore this little place cause it's very wide and just like a maze, very fun to explore! The citizens are friendly and ready to give you directions when you get lost

Beautiful concept of tourism. The villagers and local government have made a great effort to turn local village into such beautiful tourist attraction. There are sign and map of long tracks or short tracks for trekking. Watch the step because sometimes it's little bit higher. Don't hesitate to ask local villagers if you felt out of track.

I went there this morning. Not recommended. The painting is fading and place is dirty. Don't fool by other people's PS photos. However, if you don't trust my opinion, you can find out yourself.

It's a fantastic experience! Highly recommend for those visiting SEMARANG. It's a little similar to the Gamcheon Culture Village in Busan, South Korea.

One of the main issues I encountered during my visit was the temperature inside the gallery. It felt quite hot, which made the experience a bit uncomfortable. In a space meant for contemplation and enjoyment, maintaining a comfortable temperature is crucial, especially in a tropical climate like Semarang’s. As for the art on display, while the pieces showcased are interesting and varied, I felt that the collection was somewhat limited. Given the entry fee of Rp25.000 per person, I expected a more extensive exhibition. The current selection, although thoughtfully curated, left me wanting more in terms of quantity and variety. Overall, the Semarang Contemporary Art Gallery provides a pleasant escape for art enthusiasts looking to explore local contemporary works. However, the experience could be enhanced with better climate control and a more comprehensive collection of art pieces. Despite these areas for improvement, it’s still a nice place to visit for those interested in the arts, just be prepared for a warmer than expected visit.

The only one contemporary art museum in Semarang I guess. Located in the heart of Semarang 'Kota Lama' and the building is a former Dutch building. The place is quite small. The paintings will be changing following the enacted theme at the time of visiting. Yet at the second floor, there's no AC so its very hot plus Semarang weather during noon time is also very hot. And the ticket is quite expensive for a small exhibition in my opinion.

I've always liked visiting galleries. There's always something interesting to learn about! The gallery had "night market" as their theme while i visited. Since I am a local, it was easy to get information on the pieces. However, it would be nice to provide english explanation to cater for tourists. I hope that this could be improved 😊 Though it looks nice, I do think the gallery need repairs. Especially the leaky roof on the second floor. Also, it was pretty warm inside, maybe consider adding air conditioner/fans for comfort.

This is an excellent attempt to promote local contemporary artists, though the works seem to be from among a limited pool of artists with not much variety in style. Nevertheless, worth a short visit for some pics in a trendy gallery if you’re in the heart of Kota Lama.

Lovely small art gallery in the heart of Semarang’s old town. We were pleasantly surprised by the quality of the gallery itself and the displayed artworks. The temperature and air circulation should be improved. 25.000Rp are an okay price.

The place isn't huge. Two floors and not many artwork exhibited when I happened to be there. It was clean, there are three small couches we can sit on and relax for a bit in the middle of the criminally hot weather of Semarang. It would be a lot better if they maximize the space and put on more artwork, cause the place was definitely spacious enough and they weren't doing a good job to exhibit as many artwork as they can.. Overall, it's not bad. I personally think this place could be a 5 star art gallery if there were more artwork being presented. Also, the ticket was 20k IDR.

This mosque has long been on my wishlist to visit. During my long long previous pilgrimages to the Wali of Central Java ago, I passed by it several times and only admired it from afar. Alhamdulillah, this time I was destined to pray here and feel its grandeur. It’s hard to put into words, but old buildings always seem to hold their own stories for those who visit. This mosque is one of them. It whispers wisdom that has endured through time.

Wonderful mosque architecture in the capital city of Central Java, Semarang. Finally got the chance to visit and perform subuh pray before going to Solo. Many jamaah visited the mosque even before Subuh Unfortunately, the cleanliness of the toilet and wudhu spot should be improved a lot. It was really uncomfortable see rubbish everywhere. The floor was slippery so it can be dangerous for people to walk here to have wudhu There was no cleaning officer there, plus the visitor has no awareness to keep the place clean It was very disappointing

The mosque is breathtaking. The architecture is also beautiful. It has its own style. Also this mosque is HUGE! When you come here I advise you to go to the information centre first. I went here to pray by myself and got lost (but the view is great anyway so it's fine). But it is very hot if you come here to enjoy the view in the middle of the day.

A visit to Masjid Agung Jawa Tengah on 7/Mar/2020. The most unforgettable features of this mosque to me are its outdoor arch and the purple color used, maybe the number of mosque I have seen is not large, I guess purple color is rarely used. After I arrived at the mosque for a while, I heard Adzan from the minaret, it was resonant, I was deeply attracted to stay there to listen to. I even record the voice, when google map supports to upload a video, I will update. There are 4 pillars looking like umbrellas, the function of them are used as shelters for prayers in rainy days. The inner side of the mosque is luxuriant, visitors (prayers and non-prayers) are free to come in, I lingered in the mosque for more than 1 hour.

The umbrellas were closed even though the day was super bright - cost saving, understood. But the toilet and the place for taking ablution was lacking of fresh air and was wet wet wet.. inside the mosque, as most of mosques I have ever been to in this country, children were running here and there, women talk-siding loudly sometimes giggling, and of course some were taking nap..

This mosque have an old giant or big Qur'an in hall of mosque, the architecture like Medina mosque but in little version and astonishing mosque complex, in this front of mosque plaza they have very big Bedhug and they have tourist attraction in top of mosque tower we can see semarang city around here, in parking lot area they have many food stalls selling many original hand gifts from semarang city, i take a photo shot this mosque in rainy day, editing it, and voila this photo very amazing.

Free of charge, but it’s recommended for you to donate your spare money in here just for the sake of appreciates their effort to keep it open for tourists. You can get fortune telling in the pagoda. . Other than that, this place is so much quiet..

A Buddhist temple just outside of Semarang. They have detailed carving and statues that are extremely beautiful u can enter without paying a price and you can pretty much go everywhere on the kompleks and take pictures. Recommended if you want to to do a cultural visit or to pray if you're a Buddhist

Place where you can rest your soul and walk a silence. Nice and clean, during our visit afternoon, the place so quiet and just us to pay a visit. Large parking lot, and view quite good for us to take some pictures

You can easily spot the pagoda from main road. It’s quite big and has a lot of good spot for your photos. Coming early in the morning is recommended. The parking is not too spacious but you can still park your car since this place is not too crowded.

It’s a muggy Sunday morning. Hot! Chinatown was not really Chinatown in my opinion. The shops were not open and those shops open were jewelry stores. The food and alleyway street with vendors selling produce was interesting . Chinatown is a mere 4.0 km from the Semarang cruise port. It’s a 13 minute walk to the Queen City mall!

I visited the night food market. All I found was extremely overpriced meals in tents. Better eat in a warung with local prices. This place is touristy.

Those who enjoy visiting morning markets, this is an area worth waking up early to survey and do some shopping including buying fruits produced locally. One particularly surprising found is the cafe specialised for good quality coffee, humbly called “coffee shop”. The Taoist temples are colourful and steeped in history. Talk to the caretakers and they are more than willing to share stories and guiding where and how to perform the paying respect to ancestors and the dieties. Josssticks available for purchase at the temple premises. The beat are the morning street markets. A hive of activities of daily fare, street food and snacks abundant, eat to heart's delight. Most of the vendors are friendly as long do not obstruct them doing their business. Photo taking - do ask permission first as many elders do not want their face picture taken though they are OK with of their stall.

While waiting for the famous lunpia gang lombok to be served, I ventured nearby area and brought me to this beautiful old Chinese temple located just beside and in the middle of Semarang Chinatown. There's a tall statue of Cheng Ho and Buddha under a bodhi tree in front of the temple. Inside the temple housed many popular Buddhist, Tao and Konghucu deities. Felt very serene and blessed after praying and paying respect. Definitely worth visiting.

The structure, interior and exterior is so artistic and full of symbols and meanings. Various ceremonies are also being held here. Celebration is happening in regular basis too. Staff are very friendly here. Feel free to ask anything about the background or story of the temple. There is a pujasera or food stalls at the same location. There is a very popular lumpia in the same location.

On a weekday before lunchtime, I stopped by; there was no line, and the service was prompt. The tastes and ingredients in Loenpia's "Goreng" and "Basah" were both delicious and rich. Each one cost IDR 20k. Loenpia Goreng lasted up to 24 hours and Loenpia Basah lasted up to 12 hours in the room temperature, while both lasted about 1 week when refrigerated. Alongside the store, there is a temple called Tay Kak Sie. Moreover, it is free to visit there.

It's well connected to the city via the bus system. Also don't miss the WWII graveyard just across the highway, the largest in Indonesia.

We enjoyed the slow ride in one of the electric roadster, though kinda. My friends and I decided to explore this sport club and restaurant, and it was an exquisite culinary experience. The food was not only fancy but also visually pleasing and incredibly delicious. But this is the issue we had : The service were almost perfect, but when we were eating the staffs did some preparation for incoming events so the dust were flying around near our table and food. We also heard some of them were rudely joking with some taboo words, kinda inapprotiate for those who still eating near them. None of them seems care to apologize. Hopefully it could be better in the near future. Overall Lakers is a fancy place and left quite an impression for us. R&D.

Very nice place to enjoy your family time, there's swimming pool, lot of instagramable place, there's outdoor playground also you can bring your kid to the minizoo here, tickets for swimming pool area and minizoo are cheap because there's end year promo until December 2023 (15k for Minizoo and 40k for swimming pool). Minizoo ticket already include food for feeding the animal inside. For the restaurant, food are ok, price still acceptable.

It was raining when I came here but everything was good. The staff are helpful and guide us to choose our table. It has many foods and drinks but unfortunately the pizza wasn't ready to order yet. My favorite place in BSB City so far. It has a good restaurant with variety of food and beverages option. The olio aglio pasta is excellent. The food portion is big! The swimming pool is beautiful and good size, there are also 3 mini pools for kids. The shower facilities is clean with hot water. Lots of entertainment for kids such as mini playground, mini zoo and koi pond. The view is also very beautiful from here overlooking the lake. The fee for swimming is IDR 30k for BSB resident or 40k for public. The playground is free.

There are many replicas of Javanese House from Jepara, Kudus, Semarang, Grobogan, Rembang, etc. There is also Mangrove Forest best for jogging, or just strolling around. Even though me and my family were just entering to see the inside and not book any rooms.. but sadly despite having soo many parking space, the parking lot is so full that it took us 20 minutes to park. But the rest is good, my sister and i had fun looking around for some time before our parents said that we have to go back before night falls through the sky, so yeah! It's good and there is a lot of people not gonna lie, so it was quite crowded to say the least... but hey, me and my sister had fun taking photos there! We just placed the photos in our book

Saloka is a hidden gem! We had so much fun this weekend till the park closes. The staff played with us and entertained our kiddo during the rides. Past 7pm most people already left the amusement park, you get to play all the rides without any queues.

Better the Saloka name in the entrance gate need to be evitalized to attract the tourism.

There's many rides that can be tried. I got discount 20k because already pay tax. This is my second time visit here. So much fun although I afraid of hight, but still can enjoy it. This area also children friendly so all family members can enjoy to play here. The staff also so humble. With 130k, really satisfied to spend a whole day here since open to close and can try all the rides as much as you want to try without any additional fee. So 130k is all in, really affordable.
