Rajiv Gandhi Regional Museum of Natural History – A Nature Lover’s Learning Hub Located in Sawai Madhopur, just a short drive from Ranthambore National Park, this museum is dedicated to showcasing India’s rich biodiversity, forests, and wildlife conservation efforts. Spread across multiple galleries, it offers a mix of life-size animal models, dioramas, and interactive displays that bring natural history to life. The museum covers themes like desert ecology, the Himalayan ecosystem, wetlands, and endangered species, with special sections on Rajasthan’s wildlife. The exhibits are designed to be both educational and visually engaging, making them appealing for school groups, families, and researchers alike. One highlight is the replica of Ranthambore’s forest environment, which gives visitors a close look at the flora and fauna of the region without stepping into the jungle. There are also informative panels on conservation challenges and success stories in India. The premises are clean, peaceful, and surrounded by greenery, with friendly staff to guide visitors. Entry is free, and photography is usually allowed in most sections. Since it’s less crowded than typical tourist spots, it offers a calm, unhurried experience. 📍 Location: Ramsinghpura, Sawai Madhopur 🕒 Timings: 10 AM – 6 PM (Closed on Mondays) 💰 Entry Fee: Free ⭐ Rating: 4.6/5 Best For: Students, nature enthusiasts, wildlife photographers, and anyone visiting Ranthambore.

Hindu temple
Nestled on a hilltop in Rajasthan, India, the Chauth Mata Temple is a centuries-old white marble structure with intricate carvings and traditional Rajasthani architecture. Dedicated to Goddess Chauth Mata, it offers stunning views of the town and serves as a hub of vibrant celebrations during festivals like Navratri. Pilgrims climb a series of steps to seek blessings at this revered site of worship, built by Maharaja Bhim Singh.
Chauth ka barwara is a chauth mata temple is probably the only one of this kind. Temple is situated at the hill and there are two many steps which might cause bit of discomfort for patients having heart/BP/Ashthama disease and for elderly people. Temple is well managed by trust and its neat and clean.

I visited Chouth Mata Temple in May 2023, I was only a foreigner here. My Indian friend who grew up in the area bought me to visit the temple. This temple is very beautiful and you will see many devotees doing their ritual on the way up the stairs. You can see they are very happy. Good time to visit is in morning or late afternoon or evening so it is not too hot. The steps going up to the temple is quite far but the area has roof so you won't be too hot. You will see many new wedding couples come here to pray respect. I recommen to visit if you are in the area.

Hindu temple
Amreshwar Mahadev Temple in Sawai Madhopur is a serene and ancient religious site dedicated to Lord Shiva. Nestled amidst natural caves and a picturesque waterfall, the temple offers a tranquil setting for spiritual contemplation and meditation. The journey to seek blessings at this 1200-year-old temple is an adventure in itself, with its scenic surroundings and thrilling path.
The temple is 1-2 Km inside the forest. The vehicle is to be parked at the base of the hill and from there is climbing the stairs. The climb is easy as the stairs are not steep. There are lot of monkeys around but they are herm less and mind their own business. At the time of the day we were the only visitors at the temple. The experience was spiritual and we felt blessed. Even though the waterfall was dry the surroundings were beautiful. I would highly recommend a visit.
Ashesh B — Google review
It's beautiful place with breathtaking view during monsoon season but dangerous to Becoz the steps are very slippery water continued to flow on stairs and waterfall is also there but for olders people I would not recommend it and if you want to visit go on your own risk with good slippers or crocs and please carry some extra clothes if you wish to enjoy or take bath in waterfall but their is no washroom or room to change now it's upto you to decide what you want to do. If you want to reach the temple you have to cross the waterfall area which is very slippery after crossing the waterfall you have to climb the stairs and then you will reach the temple .

Amareshwar Mahadev Temple & Waterfall – A Hidden Spiritual & Natural Gem in Sawai Madhopur 🌿 I recently visited Amareshwar Mahadev Temple, and I must say—this is truly a hidden gem that blends spirituality, nature, and a peaceful vibe far from the crowd. It’s located just 6–7 km from Sawai Madhopur town and around 3 km from the main Ranthambore National Park gate, yet feels like a different world altogether! You have to travel through a forest patch for about 1 km (you can walk or drive if the road is good). The way itself is filled with lush greenery, especially during the monsoon, and we even saw some peacocks and monkeys along the way. The natural atmosphere makes the journey feel like a short trek through nature. The temple is more than 1,000 years old, and it’s built inside a cave. What’s magical is the natural water dripping continuously from the rocks onto the Shivling—called "Jal Abhishek." It gives a divine and calming experience. The energy there is peaceful, and you really feel connected with nature and spirituality at the same time. 🌊 The biggest highlight? The waterfall! During the monsoon season, a beautiful 40–45 feet waterfall flows down the rocks right beside the temple, creating a soothing sound and cool mist. There’s also a natural pond (kund) formed by the water where people often bathe or dip their feet. There are separate bathing areas for men and women. 🌸 On Mahashivratri, the entire area turns into a spiritual festival with lots of devotees, a fair (mela), and cultural celebrations like jagran (nighttime prayers). If you're around that time, don't miss it! 🦚 Wildlife lovers will also enjoy the calm environment. It’s close to Ranthambore, so chances of spotting birds, langurs, deer, and peacocks are high. It’s perfect for families, couples, pilgrims, or even solo travelers who want a peaceful break. ⚠️ A few things to keep in mind: Wear good shoes and carry water. Mobile network is weak in the forest stretch. Avoid weekends if you don’t like crowds. Please respect the bathing areas and keep the surroundings clean.
AMIT S — Google review
I just love the place . Location: Ranthambore Road, approx. 7km from Sawai Madhopur Railway Station Best Season: Monsoon (for the waterfall) & Winter (for the weather) Most people rush to Ranthambore for the tigers. They book their safaris, chase the stripes, and often miss the soul of these hills. If you want to experience the raw, spiritual energy of the Aravallis without the roar of a gypsy jeep, Amreshwar Mahadev Mandir is the place you need to go. It isn't just a temple; it’s a 1,200-year-old sanctuary hidden inside a natural cave, where nature performs its own abhishekam (ritual bathing) on the Shiva Lingam. The Vibe: Where Nature Meets Divinity Unlike the grand, polished temples you might see in cities, Amreshwar feels ancient and elemental. It is nestled deep between high cliffs on the road leading to the National Park. The moment you step off the main road and start the short trek, the noise of Sawai Madhopur fades away. The atmosphere here is heavy with peace. It feels like a secret that the forest has kept safe for centuries. You aren't just walking into a building; you are walking into the earth itself. The Journey & The Waterfall Getting there is half the charm. You have to trek for about 1 km from the main road. Don't worry, it’s not a difficult hike—it’s a manageable walk through a green canopy. • The Monsoon Magic: If you visit during or just after the rains (July–September), you are in for a spectacle. A massive, natural waterfall cascades down from the high rocks directly near the temple area. The sound of the water crashing down combined with the chanting of Om Namah Shivaya is absolutely hypnotic. • The Dry Season: Even when the waterfall is a trickle or dry, the rock formations and the sheer height of the cliffs are awe-inspiring. The Temple Structure The main shrine is a Swayambhu (self-manifested) Jyotirlinga located inside a natural cave. This is what makes it special—there is no fancy architecture, just the raw rock of the mountain serving as the roof. Water naturally drips from the cavern ceiling onto the Lingam year-round, a phenomenon that locals consider miraculous. Practical "Human" Tips for Your Visit Having sifted through the experiences of many travelers and locals, here is the real advice you need: 1. Watch Your Stuff (The Langur Situation): Ranthambore is their territory, not yours. The route is lined with Gray Langurs. They are generally peaceful but will snatch food. Keep chips, fruits, and shiny objects inside your bag. Do not feed them unless you want a dozen more to arrive instantly. 2. Footwear Matters: During the monsoon, the path and the stone steps get slippery with moss. Wear shoes with good grip—leave the fancy flip-flops at the hotel. 3. Timing is Everything: Go early in the morning (around 7:00 AM – 9:00 AM). The air is crisp, the birds are active, and you might be one of the only people there. It’s a great spot for meditation before the tourist crowds arrive. 4. Respect the Silence: This is an active place of worship for locals. You will often see villagers here. It’s not a place for loud music or boisterous picnicking near the main shrine.

Nice and cool place. Temple is under a rock accessible by walk. One need to park own vehicles at the main road and take the jeeps to the temple. The jeep is available for 100 rs for one side. From the drop point of jeep it is around 500 meters climb on the hill. Very nice view of the mountains and there is a waterfalls.

Must visit. Private Car not allowed! Need to hire jeep for Rs200 as of 2025. 20 mins walk on stairs with easy climb. Beautiful temple with natural water coming on top of Shivling inside a cave similar to Vaishno Devi. Must visit if in Ranthambhore.

The Ranthambore School of Art Society, located near the Ranthambore National Park in Sawai Madhopur, is known for its talented students who specialize in painting tigers to promote wildlife in India. The best time to visit this cultural center is during the winter months when the weather is pleasant for exploring. Nearby attractions include historical ruins like Kalandar Fort and tranquil water bodies such as Padam Talab & Malik Talao.
Tiger/wildlife art is present all over the place in Ranthambore but what sets this place apart is you get to interact with the artists and interns that are actually in charge of creating the art. Also they seem to use sturdier canvas than what was on display in most other places. The charm of hearing the stories behind each painting adds a personal touch that was missing in other exhibits in Ranthambore. Also this is an NGO. We bought two pieces. Highly recommended.
Tushar P — Google review
A must visit if you are visiting Ranthambore. The artists create life like paintings..met one artist named Rajesh Saini... the place left us speechless
Malini — Google review
Please note this place can also ship and send u the canvas u desire and takes orders for paintings of animals and accept online payment too, all definitely worth any amount of money... Now for the review of the place... A small space.. but so full of soul. For people coming to connect with nature here.. and with animals... This place provides u portraits that allow u to peer into the lives and souls of these animals... Like a photo but so much more it appears... Probably because of all the work that goes into recreating a photo. But that effort in the viewers mind translates to a emotional bond with those animals. Lovely people too and overall a very wholesome experience from the most unexpected of places.
Sriram V — Google review
Sure shot way of tiger sighting in Ranthambore. No guessing for what is Ranthambore all about. Yes – tigers. This time we saw tigers of a different variety. Not in the jungle, but on canvas, dexterously hand painted by the students of the Ranthambore School of Art. Ranthambore School of Art is an art school, exhibition and gallery all in a small single story house. This is off Sawai Madhopur on Ranthambore Road. While we had heard about this place, given the very little publicity they do, locals were not very aware of this place. It was per chance, while driving on the Ranthambore Road, we came across a modest signage which led to this institution of the truest sense. We walked in and saw painters sitting in front of large canvasses with menacing big cats looking back at them. It is a totally different issue that these tigers were brought to existence by these artists who were blessed with photographic precision. One could identify single strands of hair in some of these paintings. Ranthambore School of Art is more than 20 years old. During our visit, we met Mr. Ram Sahay who is one of the founder members of this organisation. He was extremely forthcoming and shared interesting details. As with everything Ranthambore, the artwork here was geared towards wildlife. In fact, the institution was established with the aim to protect tigers. Students come here to learn as well as senior artists sit here and create paintings some of which are on sale. They showed us huge canvasses as well as small painted postcards. Given the life-like paintings, it was difficult to believe that these were results of a wood and hair brush and not any digital medium. In addition to tigers, birds and other wildlife, the artists also paint diverse subjects. We loved the painting of Jesus in all his compassionate glory. Incidentally, there was no effort on part of the art school to make a sale. This made us very comfortable. In addition to painting, the artists from here routinely hold workshops in schools, museum and nearby villages to create awareness about the tiger. While jungle safari is the primary activity, a visit to the Ranthambore School of Art is an offbeat activity in Ranthambore. One doesn’t need to be art aficionado to appreciate the sincere work here. We believe a good piece of work has a universal language, it breaks boundaries. Ranthambore School of Art does just that are we are humbled to have an opportunity of witnessing this first hand.

I recently visited Ranthambore National Park, and the experience was absolutely unforgettable! The Ranthambore booking process was smooth and hassle-free. I made my Ranthambore National Park booking online, which made planning super convenient. The staff was professional and guided us well about the Ranthambore Safari ticket and the timings. We opted for a morning Ranthambore safari booking, and the thrill of exploring the jungle was beyond words. The Ranthambore Jungle Safari offered breathtaking views of the forest, lakes, and wildlife — we even spotted a majestic tiger! The guides were knowledgeable and shared fascinating details about the park’s flora and fauna. If you’re a nature lover or wildlife enthusiast, Ranthambore is a must-visit destination. This place is a classic example of how a tourist place can be neglected and spoilt.. The premise also have the office for ranthambhor forest sanctuary. One needs to confirm the booking and get the jeep / canter from here Nice and big property, where in many small stores have been put up demonstrating local artifacts for sale. However, except few eating joints, and 2-3 stores, everything other store closed... No Toilets, Improperly maintained site and stores. Did not find it secure for females This place seriously needs attention and revamped to make it a better place for tourists

We visited this place with lots of hopes. Since the name suggested its a handicraft village , we had expected to see local art and craft. But other two food stalls and two small shops there was nothing else. From the architecture of this place, I could tell that it was made to showcase local art to all the people who come to book safari. But I guess it got neglected over time.

The place is nice to shop for handicrafts. But I visited recently during the pandemic time and in the evening. So most of the shops were closed. The place is located near the Ranthambore Tiger sanctuary and the Ganesh temple so you can easily visit this place if you are planning for any of the above mentioned places.

Popular for Tantrik Kriyas, Kala Gaura Bhairav Temple in Sawai Madhopur is located on a hill-top and lies in the city-center. It is believed that whoever visits this temple get his/her wish fulfilled. The temple is dedicated to Bhairav brothers; Gaura Bhairav and Kala Bhairav. Other than the deity of main lord, there are idols of Goddess Durga, Lord Shiva and Lord Ganesha installed inside. One unique thing about the temple is that the main deity is installed at the entrance, unlike other Hindu temples, which have the main deity installed inside. It is said that King Hammir visited the temple and wished victory in his war with Alaud-din-Khilji. He said that he would devote everything to the lord, if he wins, and he did.

Embark on an unforgettable adventure with Abbas Zaidi Jeep Safari in Ranthambore National Park, where the thrill of wildlife observation awaits. The open-air Gypsy vehicles, designed for six passengers, allow you to explore various park zones while capturing stunning photographs of diverse wildlife and rare bird species.
It was a memorable experience. It is also a place in budget. I would advise to go with a group of 15 to 20 members. if you're lucky you can get a vivid sight of the tiger. But the other animals are assured. Note: please plan your trip from noon, as you will get to spend more time in the wild.

The Trinetra Ganesh Temple is situated inside a fortress that is centuries-old, and it is notable for housing the complete family of Lord Ganesha. The temple can be accessed through a beautiful road that passes through a forest reserve, offering breathtaking views along the way and from the fort. To fully appreciate the enchanting stories behind both the fort and temples on premise, it's advisable to hire a guide.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ A Divine Experience Amidst Nature and History The Trinetra Ganesh Temple, nestled within the majestic Ranthambore Fort, is a spiritual haven that blends divinity with the beauty of nature and history. As soon as you enter, you are enveloped by a deep sense of peace and reverence. The temple, dedicated to Lord Ganesha with three eyes (Trinetra), has an ancient charm that makes it truly unique. What makes the visit even more special is the journey to reach the temple—set high on a hilltop within Ranthambore Fort, surrounded by lush greenery and wildlife. The panoramic views of the forests below and the soothing sounds of nature make this more than just a religious visit. It’s a perfect blend of spiritual tranquility and natural beauty. One of the most unique features of this temple is the daily ritual where devotees from around the world send letters to Lord Ganesha seeking blessings for their weddings, businesses, and personal milestones. It’s humbling to see the faith people place in this sacred space. Whether you’re visiting for a spiritual purpose or simply exploring the rich cultural heritage of Rajasthan, the Trinetra Ganesh Temple is a must-visit. It’s a place where faith, history, and nature come together in perfect harmony. Truly a blessed experience! I hope this captures the essence you are looking for!

We went on a safari in Zone 2 of Ranthambore during the monsoon season, and the weather added a dramatic and beautiful atmosphere to the forest. Despite the rain, we were incredibly lucky to spot three tigers, which was an unforgettable experience and made the trip worthwhile. The natural beauty and thrill of the jungle were truly remarkable. However, the experience was dampened by the behavior of our guide and driver. Unfortunately, they were rude and unprofessional, and to our surprise, they asked for extra money at the end of the safari, which left us feeling uncomfortable. It’s disappointing when such a special experience is marred by a lack of courtesy and transparency. Overall, the wildlife and setting were outstanding, but the service and conduct of the staff need serious improvement. I’d recommend the safari for nature and wildlife lovers but advise being cautious and clear about expectations beforehand

Ranthambore National Park covers a total area of 392 km2 (151 sq mi), including buffer zone.[2] It harbours dry deciduous forests and open grassy meadow. The core area is about 275 km2 (106 sq mi). Ranthambore Tiger Reserve spreads over an area of 1,334 km2 (515 sq mi) at an elevation range of about 215–505 m (705–1,657 ft). Ranthambore Fort was built in the 10th century by Chauhan rulers at 210 m (700 ft) above the surrounding plain. Inside the fort are three red stone temples devoted to Ganesh, Shiva and Ramlalaji. There is a Digamber Jain temple of Sumatinatha and Sambhavanatha. The temples were constructed in the 12th and 13th centuries. Padam Talao is the largest of the many lakes in the park. A red sandstone Jogi Mahal is at the edge of the lake. Fauna edit Ranthambore National Park hosts over 270 species of birds, including crested serpent eagle, painted francolin and Indian paradise flycatcher.[1]

**Historical Significance:** The Trinetra Ganesh Temple is one of the oldest temples in Rajasthan, dating back to 1299. Its history is intertwined with the fort itself, making it a culturally significant site. * **Unique Enshrinement:** The temple is famous for housing the entire family of Lord Ganesha, with the main statue itself having three eyes (Trinetra). This unique feature makes the temple a pilgrimage destination for devotees of Ganesha. * **Fort Views:** Being located within the fort walls, the temple offers scenic views of the surrounding landscape. You might even be able to see parts of Ranthambore National Park. **Accessibility:** The temple requires climbing stairs, which may be difficult for visitors with knee problems or limited mobility. * **Limited Information:** There might be limited information boards or guided tours available at the temple itself. Consider hiring a guide for the fort to learn more about the temple's history and significance. **Overall:** The Trinetra Ganesh Temple is a worthwhile stop for visitors interested in history, religion, or simply exploring the entirety of Ranthambore Fort. If you're comfortable navigating stairs, the unique idol and historical connection make this temple a special place to visit. **Additional Tips:** * Dress modestly, as is customary when visiting Hindu temples. * Small donations are appreciated but not mandatory. * Photography is usually allowed, but be respectful of worshippers and ask permission if unsure. * Combine your visit to the temple with exploring the Ranthambore Fort for a well-rounded historical and cultural experience.

Ganesh temple located at the top of a hill inside the world heritage Ranthambore fort There are many steps to the temple along the fort, so though the journey is scenic, it can be challenging for elderly. Also, you can get a guide as there are many of them offering their services. The place is surrounded by beautiful scenery overlooking the Ranthambore tiger reserve and mountains and valleys. The temple is simple and modest. You'll find ample of small shops, cafes and sellers of offerings and garlands as is the norm outside all Indian temples. Beware of the monkeys though as they can be pretty aggressive at times

Trinetra Ganesh Temple in Ranthambore fort is a remarkable place that holds a fascinating history. This temple, which is approximately 724 years old, houses a unique Ganesha statue that isn't man-made but a natural creation that emerged from the rock itself. The sight of this ancient statue is awe-inspiring and instills a sense of divine connection. Legend has it that Lord Ganesha revealed himself to a sage who meditated at this very spot, thus giving birth to the Trinetra Ganesh Temple. Over the centuries, the temple has become a sacred destination for devotees seeking blessings and fulfilling their heartfelt wishes. However, visitors are advised not to trek during peak hours of the daytime, especially in summer, due to scorching temperatures. It's essential to stay hydrated and take necessary precautions to avoid any health issues during the journey. Make sure to reach temple before 4 pm as there is no entry after 4pm. When planning your visit, make sure to carry enough cash, as the temple's location might result in no network coverage, and online transactions are not possible once you reach the temple premises. In conclusion, Trinetra Ganesh Temple in Ranthambore is a place of spiritual significance with a mesmerizing natural Ganesha statue that leaves a lasting impression on its visitors. Devotees are sure to find solace and fulfillment in their prayers if offered with a pure heart and sincerity. A visit to this sacred site is a unique and spiritually enriching experience, but proper planning and timing are essential to make the most of the journey.

Idea of boat ride is excellent but calling it a river cruise was a not a fit with limited sightings of animals 9 to 10 only , poor quality or non cruise boat, no meal or drinks. 3 stars for the River, Idea of commercializations and nice and humble local boatman cum guide. Around 800 rupees person for the boat ride seems too high for the fun. Though I don’t mind contributing towards the upkeep of the place if there is any existing process besides just a ticketing booth to cash the opportunity. Some suggestions 1. Should bring better quality boats. 2. Green boats, either manual or electric as the tourism will grow the diesel and petrol boats will kill the ecosystem around especially the river water. 3. A play place for kids or adults like water slides etc can justify the long drive of hours to just have a simple boat ride. 4. A local cuisine restaurant celebrating the place.

Jogi Mahal is another major attraction of Ranthambore. This is a forest department rest house where travelers use to take rest after a long days exploration. The adjoining Padam Talab is another attraction of the place that leaves travellers amazed by its serene beauty. Next to the Jogi Mahal is an ancient banyan tree, the second largest banyan tree in India. Located beside the Padam Talab, Jogi Mahal is a rich collection of the heritage of Jaipur Jogi Mahal in Ranthambore, which was initially built as a hunting lodge by the royal family of the Jaipur which was used by many Maharajas for the same purpose. Although accommodation is not permitted here now, visitors use this place to assuage themselves and get mesmerized by the scenic beauty as well as the architecture of the Heritage in Ranthambore. Second largest Banyan tree of the India, standing next to the Mahal is worth an applause. The beautiful combination of the Padam Lake with the Mahal makes an adamant mark on the visitors memories. Great Tigress of her time Machali once ruled in this zone and has contributed at least 50 individuals in the gene pool of this reserve. As per 2018-19 her grand daughter Arrowhead rules this zone and can be seen with cubs.

People here can make themselves comfortable and regain energy for the next trip. The availability of food and water at this attraction in Ranthambore makes this place more favorable for relaxing physically as well as mentally.7

Wildlife and safari park
Wildlife refuge
Ranthambhore National Park is a captivating destination for wildlife enthusiasts and adventure seekers alike. While spotting a tiger up close can be elusive, the park offers an abundance of other fascinating wildlife experiences. For those planning to embark on this thrilling journey, booking your Gypsy safari at least a month in advance is highly recommended, especially during the ideal months of March and April when temperatures are moderate and tiger visibility improves significantly.
One of the best place in India for Jungle safari. I booked zone 1 for evening safari. Of the total duration of 3 hours, 2 hours gone and we didn't get to see the Royal Tiger. Suddenly it started raining and the chances are getting slimmer as the time passing. But here come the climax ...we saw 1 tigress with his 3 cubs enjoying the weather and it was like one of the greatest moment of my life...what a site. If you are a wild life enthusiast, then it is a must visit and if you are not then also one should visit once, you will definitely fall in love with this place.

This tiger reserve is something else. Very large and divided into zones. You must stay in your zone. The guides are not allowed to have radios or to call in a sighting by cell phone. That being said, it is a great experience. Lots of wildlife and if you get to see a tiger, it's amazing,,!
Peter S — Google review
Amazing experience in ranthambore national park. Although we didn't see tiger from close. Although we did not see the tiger closely, the other animals were very close to us. If you want to enjoy this amazing journey in Gypsy then book seat 1 month in advance. I recommend coming here in March-April as the temperature remains moderate during these months and the visibility of tigers becomes high. Thankyou!!! IMPORTANT If you wants to book seat online then book only from rajasthan govt. Website .. login to sso.rajasthan.

Priyanshu K — Google review
Without the shadow of doubt Ranthambore is one of the best places to photograph tigers in the wilderness.

Very good
Sonu S — Google review
Location is advantage as its near to ncr. We were lucky to spot a tiger bear 🐻 and other animals in zone 4 morning safari in april. Would highly recommend bandhavgarh instead of this. Much large population of animals allows better experience and sightings.
