Historical landmark
The State Hermitage Museum, founded by Catherine the Great in 1754, is one of the world's oldest and largest museums. It houses an extensive collection of art, culture, and antiquities. The museum recently expanded with a contemporary art wing in the General Staff Building, showcasing 21st-century artworks by renowned artists. The Kazan Cathedral nearby features a unique architectural design and historical significance related to Russian military figures and events from the early 19th century.
This is one of the most stunning Museums I have ever seen, it is extremely bigger than any other museums I have visited in many countries around the world. The whole belongings of Catherine the Great are exhibited here and you need more than half a day if you really want to see all and everything. It is without doubt the most beautiful and rich of art museum in the world. Expect waiting time of half and hour during week days and up to one hour waiting time during weekends, however it is worth waiting for. It is highly recommended to visit 👌

The State Hermitage Museum in Saint Petersburg, Russia, is an absolute must-visit for anyone traveling to the city. It’s not just a museum — it’s a journey through art, history, and beauty all in one place. Founded by Catherine the Great in 1764, the Hermitage is one of the largest and most impressive museums in the world, with over three million works of art and artifacts. From ancient Egyptian relics to masterpieces by Leonardo da Vinci, Rembrandt, and Van Gogh, there’s something here to amaze every visitor. The main building, the Winter Palace, is a work of art itself. Its grand halls, golden staircases, and lavishly decorated rooms will leave you speechless. Walking through it feels like stepping straight into the era of Russian emperors. Every corner is picture-perfect — a mix of stunning architecture and world-famous paintings. One of the highlights is the European art collection, especially the Italian Renaissance and French Impressionist galleries. You can easily spend an entire day exploring and still feel like you’ve only scratched the surface. Whether you’re an art lover, a history buff, or just someone who appreciates beautiful places, the Hermitage Museum will absolutely captivate you. It’s more than a museum — it’s an experience that will stay with you long after your trip. Don’t forget your camera and some comfortable shoes — you’ll need both!

Holy moly, if this place doesn’t blow your socks off. I don’t know what will. Absolutely amazing this place is huge you cannot see everything and just one visit. I came back a second time by myself just to take the amazing ore of this place. if there is no people around it would be like stepping back in time. It is amazing to think that things like this were built hundreds and hundreds of years ago and to think that this was built for one family it’s truly breathtaking and mind-boggling about the size of this amazing structure. If there’s only one thing that you can do in Saint Petersburg I would say come here. It’s easy a day visit or like me two days just come and see for yourself. It’s amazing.
Steve M — Google review
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Absolutely stunning experience. The Hermitage is truly one of the most impressive museums I’ve ever visited. The art, the history, and the architecture left me speechless. I loved every minute of it — a must-see if you're in St. Petersburg!
David K — Google review
I enjoyed every step of this museum that every galery takes you away from the time. Even cloakroom has a perfect order to control the crowd. The queue took nearly 20 min even it was weekend. Strongly get a map which was distrubuted in many languages before get in. The all building is a kind of labyrinth ✨✨✨
Figen T — Google review
One of the main attractions in Saint Petersburg. Absolutely one of the greatest museums i have ever visited. Ticket costs 509 rubles. You have the option to get the tickets from the counter, or buy the tickets online. Stunning Architecture that makes you feel like you traveled through the time. A large variety of art work. Time needed to visit the palace is between two hours and a half, and three hours. A counter is available to hang your coat, and you get a token. The token number will later help you find the exit that you entered from. Several exits are available and it is easy to miss your dedicated exit. Absolutely a must visit site if you are in Saint Petersburg.
Gattobianco1987 — Google review
Of course this place is a must see for every traveler. However you should be prepared for min. 3 hours of chaotic travel inside the museum, with many parts having only Russian descriptions. In my opinion the museum should have less expositions and more descriptions.

The Peter and Paul Fortress, founded by Peter the Great, is a significant historical site in St. Petersburg. It has served various purposes over its three-century history, from being a burial place for the Romanov Emperors and Empresses to a political prison and even a site for Soviet rocket technology experiments. The fortress houses diverse exhibitions across different buildings that celebrate its rich history. One of its main attractions is the spectacular Ss. Petersburg and Paul Cathedral.
Located on a small island, it's another beautiful place you should definitely visit in Saint Petersburg. Great atmosphere and great views. Must visit!

Great experience to visit this historic place in St Petersburg. At walking distance from city centre and no tickets required.

A very nice place to visit in St Petersburgh. Walking around in the area was pleasant. Very good architecture and very well maintained. It has some park and benches as well if you get exhausted. You can walk up to the waterfront from the courtyard. Beautiful views at the waterfront as well.
Zafar K — Google review
Nice place ,, and it’s show how the island was strong,, by the way you can take a ticket for full place which cost 1000 robal I recommend just for the fortress the main only which you can see the royal family stores ,,, but the other place so boring and roof top , jail and the money museum will by extra money
Ahmed Z — Google review
The place is big. You can go there via walk from the city center or by taking the city buss tour (4000 rubles) that will take you to 14 locations. Once entered youl have alot of locations to view from and list of museums and attractions to see, the only challenge is most of the museums require tickets to be purchased in advance or through a long wait. But surely a must place to visit

Beautiful place , must to visit. you can see king & queen’s coffins inside. beautiful golden sculptures & great decoration on everywhere. may need local guide to inform a history & which coffin is? should be quiet & don’t use flash when uou take a photos.

One of the best places to have a glance of night view of St. Petersburg. The shore near to the Fortress looks directly to the main attractions such as Hermitage, St. Isaac, Yusupov Palace and many more. Must visit.

Must visit. A nice place to get a panoramic view of the the coastline of st Petersburg. Don’t miss the panorama view. You can also walk along the fort from the outside. Once done with the tour you can then take a boat ride for 1 hour along the canals of st Petersburg which starts from the fort

Peterhof, also known as Paleizencomplex in Peterhof, is a seafront museum complex located in a former royal palace surrounded by parkland. It is renowned for its numerous fountains and is a top destination for various activities such as water sports, boat rides, kiteboarding, and exploring gardens. The palace itself offers an intriguing glimpse into the lives of ancient inhabitants through its royal rooms and exclusive chandeliers.
This amazing Park and Palace is an expression of Russian Imperial splendor. It was built by Peter the Great as his summer palace. The site is listed as UNESCO World Heritage. As you cross the parking area there is a good handicrafts market, which actually is very good and you must go through while returning from the garden. I visited in early spring, Lush gardens are mesmerizing, with extravagant palace buildings, beautiful golden statues and a cascade of fountains. Vibrant flowers were everywhere in proper layout. At 1 PM, there is some musical show at the backdrop of the palace in front of the golden statues with fireworks and some performance. I visited the place on Saturday; I am not sure the show is daily or only on weekends. We were not able to catch the show as we were not aware of it earlier. We were at the farther end of the park at that time and we reached at the spot when the show was coming to an end, however I witnessed some closing fireworks. This is a must go venue, don’t miss it while visiting St Petersburg.
Zafar K — Google review
Not too expensive and it's really really good, so many fountains. So many views. So much green. But during peak times it can get crowded. And so many people taking photos. The big museum is for additional fee, but even the garden is difficult to visit all in one day.
Ondra V — Google review
Great but a bit smaller than expected. Takes around 15 mins to walk the entire complex on your own, 45 if part of a tour. Summer season still on as of writing, so separate tickets for the garden, then the palace complex for 3,200 RUB total. You need the garden ticket to enter the compound, turn left, then enter the palace building. No line at ticket counters on a weekday 2 PM. Practically empty. Just 3-4 tour groups and they move fast.
Dung Q — Google review
This place is a must see, we had a great time and the weather was amazing. Prepare for long walk all around the park and lots of fountains perfect for the kids.
David K — Google review
expensive because you will need 2 ticket just to go inside and for museum separately as well, long walks and expensive water bottles and food. Must say amazing architecture
Ankita M — Google review
Opulence turned into landscape. The palace feels like it was built just to prove what human hands can do when given no limits. Golden statues everywhere, fountains that move with impossible precision, and that long axis leading straight to the sea, pure theater. Inside, it’s mirrors, chandeliers, and silence heavy with history. Outside, it’s joy and spectacle. You walk away a little dazzled, a little jealous, and completely convinced that beauty can be engineered.
Axel — Google review
Fable-like palace displaying the power and richness of the czars. The lavish interiors and the gigantic gardens with their water-plays are a testament to an era of nearly infinite wealth (for them of course not for the country). Impressive

We were on a cruise thru the Baltic Sea and one of the main stops was in St Petersburg. We had most of the day and had a great all day tour organized by the ship. One of the highlights was the Peterhof Palace and gardens. We had tickets in hand arranged by the cruise tour group. The palace was very nice but the gardens were spectacular. Just amazing and so perfectly maintained.

Russian Orthodox church
St. Isaac's Cathedral, completed in 1818, is a significant Russian Orthodox church and museum located in Saint Petersburg. It boasts a striking gold-plated dome that can be seen from various points within the city center. The cathedral has a rich history reflected in its museum exhibition, showcasing different architectural designs and detailing the costly construction process. With an opulent interior featuring mosaics, frescoes by renowned artists, and colossal granite columns, it stands as a magnificent monument of classicism.
It's absolutely stunning and gorgeous. The building from the ouside and inside is just fabulous. One of the masterpieces of the city. Make sure to buy both tickets, to get inside, and to get upstairs on the observation deck where you can see the city all around. Inside it is so beautiful. There are guides in the cathedral that start a tour every half an hour, maybe, try to stick to one of their groups and listen to the details, a lot of historical information.
Tigran G — Google review
Entrance tickets cost 5$ which you can get on the cathedral. Special discounts for students. You be taking almost 170-180 steps going up to reach the upper deck view. It is a place worthy of staying a bit longer once you reached the top. You're lucky if you go there with the sun up if not be ready with a jacket to keep you warm. Sadly the cathedral was closed for inside tours.
Joferd P — Google review
So many cathedrals that are so spectacular and amazing and a boggles the mind how these things were even built with their large scale everything from the doors to the front pillars that are 17 t it’s just amazing to think that these were built without machines they were made with hand manpower. Once you get inside and see the amazing mosaics and mighty structures and huge iron doors that weigh around 5 t each. There is an awesome talking tour which you get with some headphones and a little map of the cathedral which is very informative and very helpful to help you understand how much work went into it’s a building of the cathedral, totally amazing if things were built like this these days there would be a lot of amazing buildings not just a normal concrete jungle. There is a lovely little gift shop inside that supports the church. A must do to buy something as I did a nice passport leather wallet and I must say the quality was just amazing like everything else here. It’s so easy to immerse yourself into this culture, St Petersburg is such an amazing pace, with so many awesome things to see. As a foreigner I felt very welcomed and all the places that I visited, so if you’re wondering whether or not to go just do it it’s amazing.

Visited St. Isaac's Cathedral on our vacation to Russia. We were awestruck by the cathedral. The inside of the cathedral is Majestic and it is worth the money you pay.

This cathedral is such a fanatic, adorable place. It’s truly one of the must-see places in Saint Petersburg.
Arzu K — Google review
This is a place not to miss and worth to see and explore. I do recommend to buy tickets in advance as there is a line of people and it will take some time to buy them on the spot and enter. Plus is they have for a small fee audio guide so you can explore on your own and walk around. I was really impressed by the beauty of it both from the inside and outside. Also there is a package of tickets to buy which will grant you access to the upper part of the building. Recommend to visit 👌

This theater is absolutely beautiful !! a real work of art in design with a great atmosphere and amazing staff who truly care about the visitors ,, I watched a ballet performance and it was one of the best shows I’ve seen definitely not to be missed It lasted two hours and I really enjoyed every moment of it

I always thought I hated ballet, but after being here I realized I had only seen bad ballet. The performance was exceptional (the show was Spartacus) and the staff was friendly - we even got to chat with some of the ballerinas. This all for a reasonable price too, would highly recommend.

Ballet Bliss in St. Petersburg The Mariinsky Theatre in St. Petersburg is a treasure trove of artistic brilliance, and witnessing the Russian ballet here was an unforgettable experience. The performance of "Le Corsaire" by Adolphe Adam was a masterpiece, a seamless fusion of skill, grace, and storytelling. The Mariinsky's regal ambiance and timeless architecture create an atmosphere of grandeur that befits the caliber of the performances it hosts. The attention to detail in every aspect of the production, from costumes to choreography, is a testament to the Mariinsky's dedication to the art form. The dancers, true masters of their craft, brought Adolphe Adam's vision to life with impeccable precision and emotion. Every movement seemed to tell a story, leaving the audience utterly captivated. Attending a ballet at the Mariinsky Theatre is a transcendent experience that lingers in the memory long after the final bow. It's a testament to the enduring power of art to transport and inspire, and a must for anyone seeking to be swept away by the magic of the stage.

The Savior on the Spilled Blood is a stunning 1880s church adorned with gleaming mosaics and marble, featuring colorful onion domes. Designed by Russian architect Hronihin, it boasts a cross-shaped floor plan with a cylinder-shaped penthouse and a correct dome. The semicircular colonnade consists of 94 columns facing the main street and encircling the square, where monuments of Russian commanders stand.
The interior of the Church of the Savior on the Spilled Blood is absolutely breathtaking. Stepping inside invites a moment of reflection — you can’t help but think about how much time and effort the artists must have put into creating such intricate details, blending colors, and forming the stunning, interwoven patterns. The mosaics and decorations are awe-inspiring, and golden accents shimmer when touched by light, creating a truly mesmerizing effect. Entry is quite affordable, though the place is often crowded. It’s highly recommended to read about the church beforehand to fully appreciate the variety of rare stones used in its construction.

Catherine Palace is an 18th-century Baroque palace located in Tsarskoye Selo, where the Russian royal family spent their summers. It was originally a small cozy palace built by Catherine I for warm summer months. Later, Elizabeth ordered the construction of another palace known for its parties and dances. Designed by Johann-Friedrich and renovated by architects like Bartolomeo Rastrelli and Charles Cameron, the palace reflects Russian monarchy's grandeur.
An 18th Century Palace build somewhat away from the main city. It was being used as a summer retrieve palace for the Royal family. The palace has huge beautiful gardens surrounding the palace. Palace itself is built in light blue and white color. The palace building is quite wide giving a very impressive grand look. We had bought the tickets online hence we did not have to wait in line for tickets. It is a must to get a guide to visit the palace. Once inside the palace, it is so grand that you get mesmerized. Russian government has spent many years to renovate it completely. All floors, furniture, roof paintings and the elaborate gold decorations on the walls have been completely re-done to perfection. The amber room, re-done completely, is worth visiting. This is a not to miss attraction.

A beautiful blue white palace, the details are so stunning and well maintained. There are some areas reserved for special ticket. It is good that public transport can reach there, using Yandex app will give you the directions.

The entrance to Catherine Park + Palace entrance was surprisingly expensive at 2,500 rubles per person, with no discounted rates for seniors or teenagers. For a family of four, the total came to 10,000 rubles; significantly higher than the 1,000 to 1,500 rubles per person stated on various online sources. We were quite shocked by the difference, but having traveled an hour from the city center, we decided to proceed with the purchase to make the most of our visit. Catherine Park is an absolutely beautiful place to visit vast, serene, & filled with breathtaking scenery. The park grounds are incredibly wide, offering plenty of space to wander, relax, and enjoy the fresh air. You can easily spend 2 to 3 hours strolling through its gardens, lakes, and open spaces without feeling rushed. However, when it comes to food & coffee, the options inside are very limited. There are no luxurious cafés or high quality restaurants on site, & it’s difficult to find anything kosher or Muslim friendly. I would recommend bringing your own snacks or eating before you come. When you buy your ticket (it took us around 45 mns to buy the tickets on site) you’ll be assigned a time slot to enter Catherine Palace itself usually about two hours after your purchase. Even though we were lost in communication and didn’t understand much (we used sign language and translation from our side, we then thought is actually a good system, as it gives you enough time to explore the park & surrounding areas before your tour begins; but in our case we had another place scheduled to go after the palace, which put us on an edge where we had to shift things from our schedule in order to actually visit the palace itself. A key tip: there are two types of entry slots and two separate palace entrances. Make sure you know which entrance your ticket corresponds to, otherwise you might wait in the wrong line only to be redirected. The palace tour itself is relatively short,,, around 30–45 minutes & visitors are only shown part of the building, not the entire interior. So expect to spend much more of your day outdoors than indoors. All in all, Catherine Park is stunning & well worth a visit, especially if you enjoy beautiful landscapes and leisurely walks. Just plan ahead for food & be mindful of your palace entry details to make the most of your experience.

Beautiful place worth to visit. We did wait a bit to buy tickets and enter. The waiting time is ok but there was a lot of people and we had to stand in the sun. I do recommend to buy tickets in advance in order to avoid that. Palace is beutiful inside and out. All the lawns are neat and perfectly maintained. Tour of the palace with a guide has time and you need to apply for specific tour. There is a lot of history behind this place and tour was interesting and lot of information. Definitely worth to visit.

Amazing palace, gem of Russia! 2500 rub ticket for foreigners ( even foreign taxpayer in Russia like me) is very pricy, but worth paying as it took long decades to repair the palace damaged by German army during WW2. Their repairmen efforts must be rewarded. Ambar room is excellent! Need at least two hours to walk around the park.

We were on a cruise thru the Baltic Sea and one of the main stops was in St Petersburg. We had most of the day and had a great all day tour organized by the cruise ship. The two highlights of the day were visiting The Hermitage and Catherine Palace. The Palace, located in Pushkin, is a beautiful building outside and inside. Just unbelievably beautiful and oozing wealth. We got tickets in advance thru the cruise group. Very crowded. A must see on any visit to St Petersburg and Pushkin.

From 12th-century icons to socialist-realist works and epic landscape paintings, the museum offers a comprehensive journey through Russia's artistic heritage. Situated in the historic center of St.
Amazing!!!! An obligatory visit. Any international visitor will discover not only Ryssian paintings and different schools / styles, but a lot about the history. The Mikhailovsky Palace, Art Square and the views from Mikhailovsky Park, ... the surroundings are absolutely awesome, ❤️ 😍 💖

Nice museum, however unfortunately some of the famous Russian masters we came to see were (despite internet reviews) not present, moved to other museums/exhibitions. Briulov, Aivazovskiy, Ivanov and Bruin - not here at this time. Otherwise amazing exhibition of Russian paintings dating from early, Church icons/religious works to 20th century works

A beautiful building centrally located in St Petersburg, with a good fine art collection varying in periods. The building and the interiors are absolutely gorgeous. This is a great museum to visit in addition to the Hermitage. The coat check is very efficient (a necessary step when visiting) but the bathrooms definitely left something to be desired.

A must see in St Petersburg. The building and the artworks are monumental. A good glimpse into Russian art and culture through the various historic stages of the empire/union/federation. A full day is needed to see everything, if not a few. Make sure you don't miss the main collections on the second floor.

The complex of several different remoted objects. The main part - Museum of Russian art in this Mikhailovsky palace - is second to Hermitage as a main museum attraction and second to none as an art museum. I do recommend for every classical art fan!

The museum hosts paintings, sculptures and other artifacts mostly from 19. century. This is the place where you can see the traditional Russian art and paintings. Pity to see that Russian art reached its peak in the 19th century and halted as soon as the Soviet revolution took place. At least they preserved their finest collections and present in this museum.

Certainly, St. Petersburg's Palace Square is undeniably one of the most beautiful places in Russia. Situated at the heart of the city, it serves as a focal point for many historic sites, much like Moscow's Red Square. Located directly across from the Hermitage Museum, the square is dominated by the imposing 47.5-meter-tall Alexander Column at its center, making it hard to miss. This expansive open space is a popular meeting point for both locals and tourists, surrounded by many of the historical sites St. Petersburg has to offer. A trip to St. Petersburg would be incomplete without a visit to this iconic landmark of Russia. by: dizzy traveler

Centrally located so easy to work into your tourist walk around. Lots of great sculptures, although not the originals. Fountains, etc. In the southern part of the park there is a small lake with swans. The restored park looks great, but in a way I preferred the more old rugged look it had before. Still, come and see and relax in the shade.

Worth visiting this private aristocracy home that is used as a museum. Lots of amazingly beautiful interior designs from Italian, Greek, France and Russian architects. Enjoy acapela song in private theatre room. But you have to pay for your camera and to enter some private rooms. It is enjoyable but please do not compare this private home with the interior design in the Marseilles castle in France.

The place offers variously themed excursions and one can choose the most interesting one. I had a short overview excursion with a brilliant guide first and on a different day visited Rasputin's murder exposition with movies the latter one a visitor can do with its own pace, there is no guide, the movies tell it all. The mansion is really impressive, rooted so deeply in the Russian history, its decoration is stunning.

This is a 5 stars palace in terms of beauty and magnificent architecture, but unfortunately the main tour doesn't mention the basement and the murder of Rasputin. Also it has currently 5 rooms closed due to restoration. Although the ticket is expensive, I do recommend the visit, the rest of the rooms are magnificent. But don't buy in the souvenir store, the same items are half price in many souvenirs stores in the city.

Kazan Cathedral, designed by Russian architect Hronihin, is an elegant church that began its construction in 1801 and was completed in 1811. The cathedral features a cross-shaped floor plan with a cylinder-shaped penthouse above the middle and a grand dome on the top floor. The semicircular colonnade boasts 94 columns facing the main street and encircling the square, where monuments of Russian commanders Kutuzov and Barclay de Tolly stand.
This is a must visit place in Saint Petersburg! Extremely beautiful architecture, very clean inside. This is one of the few sightseeing places that you can visit for free, no ticket required!!! On the other hand, this is a functional orthodox church. Hence, all women are required to wear a scarf or a cap over their head. Inside everything is as beautiful as from outside. Can give a 6-star review if I could. This divine place, yes, divine for believers or not, Kazan Cathedral was one of the best choice to visit in St Petersburg. A mini Vatican as dubbed, our jaws were dropped all the way from it's gallery outdoors, then throughout the whole visit. Think this description has already got the interest for most people. Different to the other cathedrals in St Petersburg, Kazan has her own characters that is difficult to describe. The gallery of huge columns, the marble facets, granite floors of the size of a large public square, all gave mind-blowing visuals to any visitor stepped inside. The exhibits are well planned and placed that numerous docents could lead their tourists groups without interfering too much to other visitors like us. The besiege of the city during WWII was another key story we could learn more from. The endurance and hardship human can display is remarkable and incredible. Anyone loving art and culture will find this place fascinating and we just could not get enough of it. Even there were over a hundred of visitors inside the main chamber, we could still be awed and feel the solemnity of the church. It's like magic indeed. One will not regret going, trust your instinct.

It turned out to be one of the most peaceful and beautiful places of my trip. The architecture is grand, with the huge curved colonnade and stunning entrance that immediately catches your eye. Even from outside, it looks very majestic. Inside, the atmosphere is very calm and spiritual. The interiors are beautifully decorated with icons, paintings, and soft lighting that gives a very serene feeling. I spent some quiet time just walking around and soaking in the peaceful vibe. It’s also located right on Nevsky Prospekt, so it’s easy to visit while exploring the city. For me, it was a lovely experience and definitely worth stopping by if you’re in St. Petersburg. A beautiful cathedral with a very calming energy.

Such a beautiful, grand process. A truly stunning church Kazan Cathedral, also known as the Cathedral of Our Lady of Kazan, on Nevsky Prospekt. The church was built between 1801 and 1811 under the direction of architect Andrey Voronikhin and its design was inspired by St. Peter's Basilica in Rome, featuring a large colonnade and a large central dome. The interior of the church is decorated with beautiful mosaics and icons, making it a must-see cultural and religious site. The photos don't really do the church's exterior justice, they only capture a portion of it, you have to come and see it for yourself.

Interior: * Spiritual atmosphere: The cathedral's interior is a serene space with beautiful frescoes and icons. Additional points: * Free admission: The cathedral is free to enter, making it accessible to everyone. * Guided tours: Guided tours are available for those who want to learn more about the history and architecture of the cathedral. An impressive sculpture, both in size, detail and symbolism of Peter the Great on a stallion rising up and the rear hoof trampling a huge snake ( Peter's enemies?). The lawns around the statue are great for relaxing on and watching the sunset. Only in summer of course!

Kunstkamera, established by Peter the Great in the early 1700s, is among Russia's oldest museums. Initially a private collection of rarities, it later opened to the public for educational purposes. The museum showcases a wide array of human oddities, anatomical curiosities, archaeological collections from Russia and around the world. Over time, it has amassed exhibits from Russian travelers, navigators and scientists.
Very nice museum with everything you need in English.
Fifofuko — Google review
One of the most interesting museums with unique collections in the world! Located in a super old but well-kept building. We were impressed by the Eskimo exhibition created from the things brought from Russian expeditions, you don’t see that in classic history museums, and, of course, the collection of human embryons was breathtaking and spooky at the same time, our stomachs turned up in the beginning but then we were curiously examining just like other visitors.
Diana A — Google review
"Come, look, appraise and believe your own eyes only" is the motto of this museum. A fascinating collection of cultural, religious, hunting, social and dress from regions around the world. Its was like a world tour from the Eskimos, past the Indian tribes of north America into Africa and across Indochina and southeast Asia. There is also the exhibition of "oddities" and other unusual, deformed embryos and animals. The museum is very educational but even if taken slowly, it's an information overload.
Vincent O — Google review
It was great! I think it's probably one of the best museums in St Petersburg. Lots of interesting cultural exhibits, including the curiosities section which has babies in preserve to explain certain scientific processes. Almost everything has an English text equivalent. Well worth the money.

Highly recommended. Not a lot of museums with deformed fetuses but this one does. Buy tickets online otherwise you will be in a long queue.

Very interesting exposition, especially the anatomical theater. But the building itself is in poor condition. To get to the observatory you need to pre-register. All signatures are duplicated in English.

The Winter Palace, a grand waterfront residence in St. Petersburg, was the favored home of Russian emperors for two centuries. It is often compared to Buckingham Palace and is now part of the renowned Hermitage Museum. Visitors are drawn to its extravagant state rooms, including the opulent Malachite Room and the Main Staircase with its stunning frescoes and marble details. The palace's history dates back to Peter the Great and underwent multiple redesigns by different architects over time.
A stunning retreat right next to the Hermitage. The beautifully landscaped gardens, with their elegant fountains and vibrant flowers, provide a perfect backdrop for a leisurely stroll. It's a great spot to relax after exploring the museum. Don't miss the chance to capture some beautiful photos here!

An absolutely stunning Palace from the moment you walk in to the all the rooms you explore . This is something else the gold and share beauty of each room blows you away and leaves you speechless. What a grand place it was for the royals to be in and a magnificent opportunity for me to be able to visit and enjoy this glamorous Palace. We had a tour at 10am and was able to explore the whole Palace in 2 hours which was thought was enough time . With photos and videos of each room if necessary, I really enjoyed how there was so much group here but everyone was organised. They waited in a line behind you until you moved to the next room then they enter the room you left behind very well organised no chaos. And the gardens was very pretty with all the flowers and great views for taking photos at the top . We had a man playing a flute in the gardens which was a treat to experience as we was coming to the end of the gardens. A video was created of this music and the golden building at the top it was a wonderful moment shared . A final thought to say we was very excited to be able to get photos in all the rooms before My partner said it was not possible in the Amber room. This was My wish could true to visit the Amber room it was something out of this world I ask how much it was worth and and speechless. Also the pure gold in all the room I have never witnessed a english or somewhere else in Europe like this .I found this magnificent and should a privilege to experience this type of Palace full of gold rooms.

Amazing museum, highly recommended. Tickets are on doors. Keep in mind they close at 6pm so be there 3 hours prior to enjoy your time there

Most of the rooms in the palace exhibit artworks depicting a lifestyle rarely associated with the Romanovs. Personally, I didn't find it enjoyable because of the many paintings featuring nudity. I highly recommend visiting the Winter Palace instead, where you can explore preserved rooms that offer a richer historical perspective. Additionally, it's advisable not to bring children to this palace.

Cruiser Aurora is a historic museum ship that played a significant role in the Russo-Japanese War, the Russian Revolution of 1917, and World War II. This retired Russian naval ship has an armored deck and holds a rich history dating back to the early 1900s. It survived the Battle of Tsushima during the Russo-Japanese War and was involved in marking the beginning of the Russian Revolution with its cannon fire.
This ship is a floating museum that actively participated in many significant historical events throughout the 20th century, such as the Russo-Japanese War and the Bolshevik Revolution. It’s truly amazing to walk around its corridors. Public figures such as Yuri Gagarin, Fidel Castro, and even Xi Jinping have visited this place, and there are photos of them and many others. I just wish there were more information in English, but it is worth visiting regardless, especially during sunset when you can take beautiful photos on the deck.
Felipe B — Google review
Why is the ticket price for foreigners higher than for Russians? 1000 rubles for a 10-minute tour with minimal English is quite a lot. That's why we bought a ticket for just one person for 1000 rubles instead of two for 1200 rubles. In Europe we have the same prices for everyone.
Marián T — Google review
After waiting in line for approximately 47 minutes from 2:30 PM, we finally entered the Aurora around 3:30. The ticket price for foreigners was 1,000 rubles, while Russian residents paid 600 rubles. There are also special rates for groups, people with disabilities, and retirees. (It takes around 30 mns to roam around the ship but if you’re interested it would take double the time). The ship itself is beautifully preserved. it’s clear that great care is taken with its upkeep, from the fresh paint to its cleanliness. Stepping aboard felt like traveling back in time, offering a fascinating glimpse into what naval ships of the past were like. As someone who loves history & vintage treasures, I truly appreciated this opportunity and am thankful to Russia for preserving such an iconic piece. At last, The only unfortunate thing is that there was nothing explained in English, so I had to take photos in order to translate, to understand the information. Exploring the interior was both educational and captivating. Visitors can see how naval soldiers once lived, including the spaces they worked in and even the utensils they ate with. It’s an experience I’m glad to have had, & I’m happy to share some photos from my visit.

Alexander Nevsky Lavra is a significant Russian Orthodox complex located on the site where Alexander Nevsky, a revered patron saint of the city, achieved victory over the Swedes in 1240. Catherine Park is a sprawling urban park that was once the estate of a nobleman. It features lush greenery, ponds, and walking paths. The park reflects the preferences of multiple generations of Romanovs, blending elaborate formal gardens with a picturesque landscaped park adorned with charming follies. Visitors can explore various attractions within the park for an admission fee, including the Grotto, Maids of Honour Garden, and Hanging Garden.
In keeping with all the opulence the Catherine Park is amazing again I am glad I did not have to fit the bill over the years. But a number of splendid features and it takes a long time to walk around. It took us a few hours to cover all the sites and take in the atmosphere.

Catherine Palace, it is a park in Tsarskaya Village, Russia, located 25 km southeast of St. Petersburg. Catherine Park gets its name from Catherine Palace, and the park is divided into two parts: the Garden and the English Garden. When you come to St. Petersburg, you should take a stroll and enjoy the beauty and tranquility of the area
C J — Google review
The park itself is nice, but the palace is super underwhelming inaccessible. You have to buy ticket for each small section of the palace, and it’s quite pricey as well. In addition, there is absolute no English translation, no English audio or tour guide, and the staff does not speak any English at all as well.

My family's favorite park grounds. We walk the grounds at least once a year. There are lots of fun paths for kids to explore. If you bring nuts you can also sometimes feed squirrels or chickadees. Don't forget to walk behind the palace to the left and explore some lovely gardens with statues there.

Amazing gardens. There are several pavilion to visit and they all have wildly different styles, which makes it fun. Some are available to visit with a ticket (like the amazing Cold Baths, where the Agathe Rooms are located) and some can be visited for free (like the Chinese style pavilion and the Italian Style pavilion with authentic roman mosaics from the 2nd century) Just strolling around is nice, and they are more chilled than Petergof, with lots of locals enjoying the scene.

Amazing Miniature World – Best Place for Kids in St. Petersburg! Grand Maket Russia is one of the most impressive and fun attractions we visited in St. Petersburg—especially for kids! It’s a huge, detailed miniature model of the entire country, showing cities, villages, trains, cars, and even people in everyday life scenes. The level of detail is incredible, and the moving parts, lights, and sound effects make it feel alive. Children will love the interactive buttons that activate trains, cars, animals, and even volcanoes! The day-to-night lighting effect is magical and adds to the experience. You can easily spend 1–2 hours here exploring all the little scenes. It’s also educational and entertaining for adults. The museum is clean, well-organized, and easy to reach by metro or taxi. There’s even a small park nearby for kids to play after the visit. Highly recommended for families—a must-visit if you're traveling with children in St. Petersburg!

Grand Maket Russia is such an entertaining and fascinating attraction! The amount of detail is incredible,,, funny, cute, & spectacular little scenes are tucked into every corner, making it a delight to explore. As a family interested in all of Russia, we spent about 40 minutes to an hour walking around & could have easily stayed longer. One of the most impressive parts was the display of military and naval bases, which was both educational & engaging. It’s a great place to watch, learn, & simply enjoy the artistry and storytelling of the miniature world. A very important tip: arrive at least an hour before the closing time. The last ticket sales happen one hour before the museum closes. Some online sources say Grand Maket stays open until 9 PM on Wednesdays and Fridays this is incorrect. When we visited on a Wednesday, we arrived at 6:55 PM expecting a later closing, only to find the ticket office already shutting down. Staff confirmed their hours are 10 AM to 8 PM daily. Other than that, the experience was wonderful, the place is absolutely worth a visit if you’re in St. Petersburg.

It is the largest model layout in Russia and the second largest in the world. The model is located in a two-story building built in 1953, in the style of Stalin’s empire. White Nights Hostel is perfectly situated for visitors to enjoy the annual White Nights Festival in St. Petersburg, which transforms the city into a 24-hour party with fireworks, street shows, parades, night exhibitions, and live music. The hostel is conveniently close to major attractions such as the Hermitage, Palace Embankment, and St. Isaac's Cathedral. Guests appreciate the helpful administrator Julia who ensures order and cleanliness.
(Translated by Google) The hostel is very close to the Hermitage, Palace Embankment, and St. Isaac's Cathedral. It was even difficult to imagine that this was possible - you just leave the house and already walk around the sights. I really liked the administrator Julia, she immediately explained how and what was done, and maintained order and cleanliness in the hostel. ☺️ Requests: more hooks or a shelf in the bathroom (where the jacuzzi is); a shelf next to the bed so you can put your phone and hand cream, put a bottle of water.

(Translated by Google) We booked a double room in January, despite the fact that, according to the requirements, an advance payment in the amount of one night’s stay was made immediately, and the rest of the amount upon arrival, we paid the entire cost of 27,500 rubles much earlier, back in April (several months in advance). The only advantages of this hostel are its location and many thanks for the intercom chip, the rest leaves much to be desired. The room had a few towels kindly provided and the bed was made. There were also 3 books on the table, as it later turned out that one of them contained a big surprise in the form of pubic or axillary hair. It’s good that the young man saw it, and not me, and only showed the photo at the exit, so as not to spoil the mood. The walls in the room are dirty. There was practically no Wi-Fi (this is the lesser of two evils). A bathroom consisting of a common area with 2 sinks for washing, a separate shower room, in which there are no hooks for things, and therefore it is unrealistic to undress and wash in it, unless you are an exhibitionist because it is possible to undress for the shower only in a common area with sinks, which doesn't close. “Thankfully,” there is also a room with a jacuzzi, but the distance from the jacuzzi to the door is a maximum of 20-40 cm, which is too insufficient for free movement when taking off clothes, i.e. you have to undress and dress directly inside the jacuzzi. The drain is clogged. all the buttons/knobs are rusty and covered in a huge layer of dirt. This place can only be used as a shower; there is no question of taking a bath. It is absolutely not noticeable that this place of hygiene for a large number of people is at least somehow washed. When the chief administrator Yuliana showed the hygiene procedures area, she said, pointing to the jacuzzi, that anyone who likes to take a bath can use it. But upon closer examination of the jacuzzi, her words sound like some kind of mockery. The hostel has 2 toilet rooms, one of which is a continuation of the wardrobe, i.e. One of the sliding doors of the existing closet is also the door of the toilet, but it does not close completely and there are gaps of several cm on both sides. We learned that the bed linen was being changed by accident. But such things should be discussed at the entrance. When replacing it, they discovered many stains of unknown origin on both the mattress and pillows. And the bed sheets were also given out with stains... The kitchen was very noisy both after 11 pm and from 5 am. At the entrance there are both shelves for your own shoes and a box with general free slippers. Chief administrator Yuliana assured that you can safely leave both street shoes and your own slippers. One night we went to draw bridges from 3 to 4 o’clock, returning to the hostel, the second administrator Rita immediately ran out in my slippers with the words “these are probably yours” and at the same time taking them off her bare feet. To our bewilderment, she had one excuse: that she took my slippers from the common box (but I didn’t put them there!), and that in general you should leave them in your room. I didn’t bring myself slippers so that someone else would wear them! The photographs of the hostel were apparently taken when it opened, and do not correspond to the current state.

The Museum of Political History of Russia is housed in an elegant 1904 palace in Saint Petersburg, a city known for its pivotal role in Russian history. Originally established as a museum of revolution, it now features a comprehensive collection of documents and artifacts spanning from Catherine II to contemporary political leaders. The museum is located in the former mansion of ballerina Mathilde Kschessinska, which was seized by Lenin during the 1917 Revolution.
Very well presented exhibits that portray the turbulent times of the Tzar's abdication, the rise of the Soviets, the Russian Revolution, Reign of Terror and recent events up to current President Putin. We were with a guide so could appreciate the significance on Russian life, and spent 3 hours which was not enough. Its houses in the building when the first meetings were held and Lenin made his dramatic speeches from the small balcony outside his office.

Extremely interesting, especially when the guide in English is contracted :)) A present of tzar Nikolay II to his lover, ballet dancer Kseshinskaya. An exciting story to add to the whole history of Russia

A very thorough museum of the history of Russian revolution and the political history before and after it. The temporary exhibitions are very interesting as well: at the time of the visit: the Space Race and the Kronshtadt rebellion in photos. The exhibition materials are available in Russian and English

The state museum of political history of russia is a must see place to dig out the history and aware of the happenings and difficulty of olden times. It is spread out in 3 floors. It is located in two mansions built in 20th century. The entry fees is 250 rubles.

Wonderful museu that shows with details the most famous face of the russian political history. They have an incredible collection of videos and pictures of politicians and political facts. I would only recommend them to increase the quantity of itens explained in english (even though they have booklets with the translations, it is not same thing and consume a lot of time).

For sure I get out depressed seeing how much damage the communist made in Russian and human history. We need to learn from that not to repeat the same mistakes. This is a place every one need to see and evaluate his world view.

Absolutely loved it. The suggested route was slightly confusing but it didn't matter even if you messed up the order. It's smaller and more compact than its Moscow counterparts (the gulag museum). Do check out the souvenirs.

The Botanical Gardens of Peter the Great is a vast and well-established garden featuring a large palm house, tropical greenhouses, and a diverse collection of vegetation from around the world. Established in the 18th century by Peter the Great, it includes orangeries, a Japanese garden, a museum, and plant nurseries. The park offers ample walking tracks amidst lush greenery and numerous greenhouses to explore.
Very interesting place. Particularly liked the greenhouse dedicated to tropical, desert, savannah and jungle plants. The botanical garden itself has a lovely park and free WiFi. Lots of benches where you can have a quiet and relaxing time to enjoy yourself. Different plants in different greenhouses bloom at different times of the year, making every visit to this place unique. Also in the park of the botanical garden itself you can find a rose garden, a peonarium, small lakes with lilies and many other interesting things. 🥰🌸

This botanic garden has a statue of Lenin in its outdoors. It is very rare to see Lenin portrayed sit which makes it a very interesting one for people interested in Soviet times.

Nice place to see. Only be aware the entries are on time with a guide. So in the glasshouses you will walk with a Russian speaking guide :) I don’t know if they have English guides. Though place it safe is just great if you are a fan of plants! I visited the garden in winter, but the outside park is supposed to be magnificent in spring and summer.
Natalia A — Google review
Have to pay for pretty much everything. Some places are only accessible with groups. Overall, not impressed. The tropical section is quite good though, but you have to pay a fee as well.
Pablo — Google review
What a huge disappointment! The gardens around the palaces and parks are better kept than the botanical gardens which should be a city's showcase. They are closed on a Monday and one would think this would be when they now the 'lawns' or weeds but no, they do do it when you are trying to enjoy a tranquil stroll. The gardens are poorly maintained with very little colour only two areas had flower beds with some colour. The roses need to be dead headed could not fit the peonies. The little river is in a dreadful state. There are two ticket offices and despite this it still took ages to process the people in the queue.
Yolanda K — Google review
There's no english signs, and no one speaks good english to tell you what can you do and what can't... If you wanna visit all greenhouses you must buy separate tickets (no one tell me that). However, its beautiful botanical gardan, with alot of plants, its clean and peaceful!

Very beautiful. You can find all kind of flowers and trees. Great place to walk, sit and relax. Includes lakes. Blossoms, Birds and bees are everywhere in the garden.

During winter holidays I saw an Internet advert for the exhibition of orchids. We decided to go. Unfortunately, they didn't give the information about the booking offices in Professor Popov Street for the winter time. So we had to walk there along the icy street. I think the tickets were a bit too expensive for this exhibition. I paid 400 and my mom as a pensioner paid 300. The orchids were absolutely lovely, but it's a pity that only some of the employees told us stories about them. So, I was amazed by the fact that one of the plants was presented by the Princess of Thailand.

If you love Impressionism Art, this is definitely the MOST AMAZING place you could find! Wow, i never saw such as large collection, with so many varieties. This is just outstanding and blew my mind. This aside, the building new modern architecture is just wonderful! Do yourself a big favor, come inside to get lost and appreciate art in all his forms and feelings.

Now part of the extensive Heritage Museum Complex ( use same entry ticket), was created by Carlo Rossi in 1820-30s. There are three levels with many exhibitions on each, ranging from African Art to the works of many great artists ( Picasso, van Gogh, and French Impressionist and Post-Impressionists). Its a good opportunity to see such great works in an uncrowded setting, close up. The only "frustration" was the glass in the frames protecting the art, as it gives reflections of the lights. Downstairs is a bookshop and cafe.
Vincent O — Google review
The modern art collection of the Hermitage is located in the General Staff Building. The entrance is on the left side facing away from the Winter Palace. One of the greatest collection of the modern art of late 1800‘s to early 1900‘s. No long lines unlike the Winter Palace. You can actually buy tickets to Winter Palace at this Location as well, which is not well known.

A welcome respite from the tour group hell across the square at the Winter Palace. Peaceful, airy, relaxing. Difficult to find the exhibitions which mostly seem to occupy the 3rd and 4th floors. Seems to be quite empty with a lot of rooms having no exhibits... I wonder if we were there in between shows or if this is the regular state.

The staff at the front desk were very cold! Although the guy who waited on us was very helpful and recommended good dishes and vodka. One needs to pre-book for vodka museum tour. So we just got the audio tour, which was very detailed and covered a lot of historic stuff.

The guide was giving another tour when we arrived so we had a snack in the attached restaurant while waiting. It is a little bit expensive but you get 200 rub off the entry fee if you order in the restaurant so bear that in mind. The tour itself was really interesting, I'd recommend getting the guide with tasting rather than just an audio. You try 3 vodkas at the end with snacks, and you get a really interesting insight into Russian culture. I would recommend visiting this museum.

Nestled along the picturesque Universitetskaya Embankment on Vasilyevsky Island, The Menshikov Palace stands as a testament to the grandeur of 18th-century architecture. Constructed in the early 1700s for Alexander Menshikov, a prominent figure in Peter the Great's court and St. Petersburg's first governor-general, this Baroque masterpiece is one of the city's oldest structures.
An extraordinary exhibit of a Russian high life of the first quarter of the 18th century. The exposition is superb: the restaurateurs did an amazing job with this place, bringing it back to its original look! The entry fee is more than fair; the museum offers guided tours and audioguides that are top quality. Every room has an information plaque that are a pleasure to read: even if you don't follow a tour guide you'll still learn a lot. The plaques are in Russian and English. Also the museum workers are very friendly and knowledgeable and always happy to answer your questions, guys you are the stars!! ♥️♥️ And also they have a nice cafe in the garden if you want to take a break mid-tour.

One of the buildings in the Hermitage, and the best example of a XVIII century house in Petersburg. First stone house in the city, frequented by Peter the I and most known because he staged a huge little-people wedding in here because he thought it was funny. But the house is blameless and still gorgeous, and you'll here a lot about the history of those times, including Menshikov's incredible ascension and downfall.

Designed by renowned architect Karlo Rossi, its stunning architecture captivates visitors even before they step inside.
A beautiful and well maintained old theatre. We had difficulty in finding tickets online, it looked as if all seats were sold, however we went directly to the box office at the theatre and managed to get fantastic seats 4 rows from the stage. I think that many tickets sold online are through agents who are only given a selection, so don't despair if you can't find anything, even on the theatres website. If you attend the 1pm performance with children, know that many Russian families take snacks of bread and fruit so feel free to do the same, in the passages. The balcony seats to the left and right have very limited views and most people were standing. See photo for example. The performance of Swan Lake was amazing and magical.

The most modest palace you will visit, which is part of its charm. The first of quite a few palaces Peter the Great built in Saint Petersburg was the Summer Palace. Peter the Great lived here with his family for nearly ten years from when it was built in 1714 until he died. Quite a modest palace as compared to the many palaces that were to follow. Best views are from a canal boat tour of which there are many to choose from at an affordable rate.
Sling A — Google review
The Summer Palace of Peter the Great was built between 1710–1714 in the northeast corner of the Summer Garden that sat on an island formed by the Fontanka river, Moyka river, the Swan Canal (also known as Winter Canal) and has the railings of its northern perimeter running along the left bank of the Neva river across from the Cabin of Peter the Great and Peter and Paul Fortress and was the first palace built in Saint Petersburg, the second largest city in Russia. When the Summer Palace was completed in 1714, it became the residence of Peter the Great and his second wife Catherine I of Russia and many of their 12 children—with Peter occupying the first floor and Catherine, along with the children, occupying the second one, until Peter’s death in 1725

Well worth a visit ! Mix of modern and historical art , the staff are mostly friendly and even have English. Get the ticket that allows you to visit the 4/5 museums over 2 day! Makes it much cheaper

As this place came recommended by our friend, we had no hesitation about coming here on our last day. Regrettably, it was a bit of disappointment. As it was the last place to visit we had a higher expectation I guess. Of course, the stairs and the 3 rooms were allowed to go in were beautiful as seen in my pictures but that was it. The rest 2 floors are full of rooms with "modern" arts and that's what was dissapointing about the whole visit. For 400 rubles you can visit much beautifully decorated buildings in St. Petersburg. Had there been a reduce fee for just the 3 rooms, I wouldn't mind. English was no exhistant and there was no such option from what we could make out later on. As the rooms are nicely heated, they will make you leave your clothing downstairs in the cloakroom. To sum it up, unless you are a lover of the currently exhibited art, the three rooms are not worth the money.

The St. Petersburg Grand Choral Synagogue is a beautiful, historic synagogue located in the heart of the city. It is one of the largest synagogues in Europe and is well worth visiting if you are in St. Petersburg. The synagogue has an impressive architecture, colors and design that makes it a standout among the city's other buildings.
The 19. century downtown St. Petersburg Grand Choral Synagogue is really amazing, easy to approach walking Lermontovskiy Prospekt the huge building was renovated professionally and is very well maintained, the tours are very informative. A very quiet place to sit down and meditate. The service is continuous for believers, the tourists are welcome. The shop is worth to have a look at. A must visit when in St. Petersburg. I hope the photos of US President's visit are still on display in the fantastic Jewish church. #synagogue

Grand Choral Synagogue of St. Petersburg is the third largest one in Europe. Splendid both inside and outside its building is over 120 years old. Once a year, on International Museum Day, the Synagogue is opened for all visitors during the night, when they hourly run comprehensive tours free of charge. I've been there thrice and every time tours were guided by the same orthodox Jew, strikingly charismatic - he's going to make you fall about laughing. Sometimes excursions are added by a performance. You also can pop in their kosher cafe.

Marvelous synagogue in the city, the design, colors and architecture stands out to be among the most beautiful buildings in the city. Stunning from the outside to the inside. Definitely should be a more recognize landmark here, I strongly recommend visiting it.

This is one of the most beautiful synagogues of st Petersburg ,was rebuilt and brought back to its original beauty, this is a place to see because of it’s history and beauty also they have a very good mini shop with Sacramental wine and a very nice selection of Jewish articles, the only thing is that there’s no parking lot in the synagogue but if you’re in a public transportation is very easy to get there.

What a spectacular synagogue! Enormous...spiritual place.
Bryan W — Google review
This is a beautiful synagogue with real character, both inside and out. Our tour guide was extremely pleasant and gave us the history of the building and explained how it is used today. The colors inside are especially vibrant, with some stunning shades of blue, and the ceiling beneath the dome has a gorgeous design.

Only had time for a quick visit. Impressed by how busy it was. A synagogue in use! Inside very much like a Reformed church in Germany or Holland. Expect a guard in front of the building who may want to look inside your rucksack. About a 2km walk from Nevsky Prospekt.

The Street Art Museum is a unique attraction located in a plastics factory on an 11-hectare industrial site in the suburbs of St. Petersburg. It features over 20 murals and sculptures with a modern, graphic edge, showcasing contemporary Russian culture in contrast to the city's traditional galleries. The museum was established by a collective of artists as Russia's first and only museum dedicated to street art, providing space for leading Russian street artists to showcase their skills.
Out of the city, vibrant and cool space. The bar staff were friendly, drinks and burger were good. Recommended if you like murals and street art !

Nice place if you like modern art. The receptionist speaks decent English and you get a folder in which all the art works are explained in detail. It might be a bit expensive in comparison to other locations in town, bit there are discounts for students, museum staff, veterans... The location is a bit out of town so hard to reach by metro. Taxis as Gett and Yandex do drive until this location, but make sure you order it in time.

Phenomenal museum. Also used as a working factory ! For English tours the day is on Saturday and you have to pre-book. (starts at 12. Try to not be late - as we were). Highly recommend

The bridge's iron railings feature intricate patterns of mermaids and seahorses.
My favourite bridge. Stunning. I could stare at the statues for hours. When the Fontanka froze I went and walked on the ice and it looks beautiful from the ice. Equally stunning on the pavement or by boat in warm weather. Highly recommend the trip up Nevsky to see it

Decorative bridge in the place where Fontanka river meets Nevsky Prospekt. The bridge itself is not that long, though, some tens of meters. But views at and around and statues also are definitely worth a visit. Especially during the light nights.
Juha N — Google review
This is a famous bridge in St. Petersburg that crosses the Fontanka River along Nevsky Prospekt. It is a relatively short crossing that is decorative and features four landmark sculptures of horse tamers. Constructed in 1841-42, the bridge features appealing iron railings. However, the highlight is seeing the four large horse tamer sculptures, which were installed at the two ends of the bridge between 1849-50. These are individually impressive works of art, particularly for those who enjoy viewing sculptures and statues. Note: The Anichkov Bridge and its sculptures are particularly nice to see when viewed from the opposite bank to the pink coloured Beloselsky-Belozersky Palace. If you position yourself correctly, you can capture all in the same frame, allowing some decent pictures to be taken. In the end, we liked the Anichkov bridge. This is a quick attraction to view and enjoy if you find yourself in this area of St. Petersburg during your visit to the city.

I likes this place a bit crowdy good for kids even for adults who likes fishes . Variety of fishes across the globe are there. For each fish they maintained proper aura with sound effects. I likes star fish as this my first experience. Piranha was available. Sharks are there. Penguins and seals are I the last. Jelly fish was amazing and snake fish alsi available. The cave was amazing there is a conveyer belt just stand on that and it will take you through that cave made of glass and you will feel like small shark is going to attack you as they are swimming close to your head. Just was the best part of oceanarium . Any tourist must visit this place. Hope this will help you.

Very good place in St Ptb. It is almost as good as the aquarium in Moscow. The only bad stuff is that there is not enough distance between people, and sometimes people is too near.

Worth going with kids. Even if there are posters with “no photoshoot has with light” there are authorized staff who will take professionally photos of you and your family. During shows like feeding a shark there are a hole lot of people and you have to take your sit beforehand. Otherwise you won’t be able to see anything. Observing area is very very small. Some fishes are in not so good condition from my point of view (i don’t have any knowledge in tho field though), but their tanks are to small to maneuver. Makes me sad 😞 Souvenir shop is full of seashells.

Morskoy Sobor Svyatitelya Nikolaya Chudotvortsa, also known as the Naval Cathedral of Saint Nicholas in Kronstadt, is a stunning Russian Orthodox cathedral constructed in the early 20th century to serve as the main church for the Russian Navy. Although it was repurposed several times over the years, it was eventually reinstated as a place of worship by the Russian Orthodox Church.

Really beautiful building with an interesting history, built and paid for by the sailors of Kronstadt, restored back to it's full original splendour. Definitely worth a visit when in St Petersburg. It is a bit of a mission to get there, it is close to Peterhof however.
IGuideU — Google review
The Naval Cathedral of St. Nicholas is truly the heart and soul of Kronstadt — a breathtaking masterpiece that perfectly blends spirituality, history, and architecture. From the moment you see its golden dome rising above the city, you understand why it’s often called the “Naval St. Isaac’s Cathedral.” The exterior is majestic, but the real magic begins once you step inside. The interior is filled with shimmering mosaics, marble floors, and intricate icons, all dedicated to the memory of Russian sailors who lost their lives at sea. The atmosphere is both solemn and awe-inspiring. Whether you’re religious or simply love art and history, this cathedral leaves a deep emotional impression. The acoustics are amazing — if you’re lucky, you might even hear the choir during a service. The cathedral stands on Anchor Square, surrounded by naval monuments and museums, which makes it the perfect centerpiece of a day trip to Kronstadt. Tip: Visit in the late afternoon for the best sunlight on the domes and fewer crowds. ⭐ Rating: 5/5 — A must-see landmark and one of the most beautiful churches in Russia.
Savant ' — Google review
This remains a functional church, also with a second floor (no tourist access) meaning the interior is less grandiose and relatively small, however no less ornate than other churches you may visit. Worth a visit of you have some extra time, the most beautiful views are from the exterior with the baby blue facade.
Sourav B — Google review
Definitely worth visiting if you're on travel trip in Kronstadt. It has 3 levels and you can get on every of these levels. I recommend visiting the top level, it is located under the dome and you can observe whole city from there.

I come back after 8 years. The exterior and the park are really amazing, a must see. About the interior tour, re her living zone, which I did for the first time, well, I am not sure is something to be seen... First of all you will discover that almost everything was bombed or robbed during second world war, so you are looking to a replica, which is taking away all the magic from it since......since let us be honest, interiors are unreal ugly. Too much of everthing without real balance and well thought details. And when you see it as a replica, you start to think 💬 well why to remake such a kitsch interior and not even to the end (not all the rooms have been restored until the end ). Also, the guide we had was so boring, lots of details repeating over and over... In general, the visit to the interior I won't recommend it, you won't loose anything. The park yes, that is a piece of art to be seen.

The Peter and Paul Cathedral, a baroque masterpiece built between 1712 and 1733, stands as a significant landmark in St. Petersburg. Designed by Italian architect Domenico Trezzini, the cathedral boasts a blend of Western European church architecture elements such as its rectangular shape, tall towers, and dome.

It was summer when we visited. The better time to go indeed. == This Peter and Paul Cathedral is one of the most splendid church in the St. Petersburg area, in my mere opinion. As it used more green lightings on the ceilings that were to my taste. It gives the church a special green tone that is rare among others in the Northern or Eastern Europe. And it was included in the admission ticket of the Peter and Paul Fortress.

The Peter and Paul Cathedral (Peter-Pavlovsky Sobor) is one of the most significant and iconic landmarks in Saint Petersburg, Russia. Here are some key points about the cathedral: 1. **Historical Significance**: The cathedral was founded by Peter the Great in 1703, shortly after the establishment of Saint Petersburg. It was built as part of the Peter and Paul Fortress, which was the first structure in the city and served as a defensive fortification. 2. **Architecture**: The cathedral is designed in the Baroque style and is known for its distinctive golden spire, which reaches a height of 122.5 meters (402 feet), making it the tallest building in the city. The spire is topped with a weather vane in the shape of a golden angel. 3. **Interior**: The interior of the cathedral features beautiful frescoes, intricate woodwork, and a number of chapels. The altarpiece and the iconostasis are particularly noteworthy, showcasing the artistry of Russian religious art. 4. **Royal Burial Site**: The Peter and Paul Cathedral serves as the burial site for many of the Russian emperors and empresses, from Peter the Great to Nicholas II. The tombs of the Romanov dynasty are located within the cathedral, making it a significant site for Russian history. 5. **Cultural Importance**: The cathedral is a symbol of Saint Petersburg and is recognized as an architectural masterpiece. It is an important site for both tourists and locals, attracting visitors interested in its history, architecture, and art. 6. **Visitor Information**: The cathedral is open to the public, and visitors can explore its interior, learn about its history, and view the burial sites of the Romanov family. There is often a small entrance fee. 7. **Location**: The cathedral is situated on Zayachy Island within the Peter and Paul Fortress, which is located on the Neva River. The fortress itself is a popular tourist destination, offering additional attractions and historical exhibits. The Peter and Paul Cathedral is not only a place of worship but also a vital part of Russia's cultural and historical heritage, representing the city's founding and its evolution over the centuries..

The oldest church in St Peterburg and a significant landmark. Built in 1712 to 1733, the cathedral is an imperial burial site and houses the remains of almost all the Russian emperors and empresses from Peter the Great to Nicholas II and his family

Got the combined ticket worth 800RUB, which is good for 3 days. For me, it was not worth it at all. What attracted me most were those not included in the combined ticket. You need to pay separately.

It was really crowded inside and hard to take in the meaning of the different Czars buried here. I would recommend reading up on the history of the main leaders to get a deeper appreciation. It was very sobering seeing the chapel tomb of Nicholas II, the last Czar of Russia, and remembering how him and his family were murdered and dumped in unmarked graves - finally getting buried here with honors in 1998. I feel this is a very important place of history and would definitely recommend a visit! We went with Alla Tours while on a 24-hour stopover on our Norwegian Getaway Baltic cruise in August 2019.

A Russian Orthodox cathedral located inside the Peter and Paul Fotress in Saint Petersburg. First and oldest landmark of St.Petersburg.located along the Neva River. Amazing interior work. Tourist hub and is a must visit.

Really special to get to visit this cathedral. It is located inside a fortress. A lot of the Russian monarchs like the last tzars are buried here. Visited the grave of Anastasia. Really impressive when you know the history of what happened to the last tzar and his family.

A very lovely cathedral both on the outside and within. For a small donation the workers at the cathedral will let you climb to the top of the cathedral and photograph the view from there. It was a lot of fun. Remember that this is a working church, so be respectful and quiet.

THIS IS NOT the Peter and Paul's Cathedral where the Romanov's are buried (that one is in St. Pet center within the same name fortress on an island). THIS IS the same name Cathedral in Peterhof, around 45 min from the center. It totally differs in style and year of construction from the St. Pet's one. This one in Peterhof is just across the road from the Peterhof summer Palace complex (read that review). It's a beautiful classic Russian style Cathedral built around 1900, almost 200 years after the St. Pet one. It's just by the bus stop that will take you back to center so it's worth visiting its beautiful interiors
Dejan B — Google review
My favorite church of all Russia. It's more beautiful than the church on the spilled blood in St. Peter. And best yet, no line. I just walked right in on a Wednesday. It smells really nice in there and they can bless your crucifix or buy an icon there as well. Praise the LORD JESUS, Amen.
Nick H — Google review
Certainly a very beautiful church. Unfortunately top half of it was under renovation.
Helena B — Google review
The church is located opposite the Peterhof. Most visitors like to visit this red brick. Outside is an orthodox church that so beautiful and look like the Church of our Savior on the Spilled Blood. Its building was damaged during the World War II and closed for years till reopened again after renovation.

When I go there It’s constructing. There’s a small entrance to visit in there.

Awesome The Peter and Paul Cathedral is a Russian Orthodox cathedral located inside the Peter and Paul Fortress in St. Petersburg, Russia. It is the first and oldest landmark in St. Petersburg, built between 1712 and 1733 on Hare Island along the Neva River. Both the cathedral and the fortress were originally built under Peter the Great and designed by Domenico Trezzini. The cathedral's bell tower is the world's tallest Orthodox bell tower. Since the belfry is not standalone, but an integral part of the main building, the cathedral is sometimes considered the highest Orthodox Church in the world. There is another Cathedral of Saints Peter and Paul Church in St. Petersburg, located in Petergof.

The Winter Palace, a waterfront residence once occupied by Russian emperors, features grand state rooms and a colonnaded structure. It is a smaller and tranquil component of the Hermitage campus, accessible from the Embankment. Inside, visitors can explore rooms that belonged to Peter I along with his personal belongings. A life-sized wax figure created shortly after Peter's passing can also be observed.

Keep in mind they close at 6pm so be there 3 hours prior to enjoy your time there
Blal R — Google review
Most of the rooms in the palace exhibit artworks depicting a lifestyle rarely associated with the Romanovs. Personally, I didn't find it enjoyable because of the many paintings featuring nudity. I highly recommend visiting the Winter Palace instead, where you can explore preserved rooms that offer a richer historical perspective. Additionally, it's advisable not to bring children to this palace.

If you're looking for a unique and nostalgic experience in St. Petersburg, the Museum of Soviet Arcade Machines is an absolute must-visit! This compact yet vibrant museum boasts an impressive collection of over 40 vintage arcade games from the Soviet era, dating back to the 1970s. Unlike traditional museums where you can only admire artifacts, here you have the chance to actually play these retro machines and relive some childhood memories.
I loved that they give you coins to play with the arcades. Next to every arcade there is a description of the game and the year of release. Nearly everything is written in english and russian. There are also consoles such as sega and Nintendo64. Upon arrival you are giving short instructions. Possibly to get drinks as well.
Jaime C — Google review
A really fun place for kids. It’s still a great place for an adult to visit, but you’ll see everything pretty quick. From Soviet-era arcade machines, smells from that time, and Soviet cartoons playing in a room. You can see (and smell) what life was like for kids during this era. Some of the games where hard to play while others were fun enough to play a second time. A good place to burn an hour or two!
Brett H — Google review
Can't recommend it highly enough. Really fun way to spend an hour or two, playing old Soviet-era arcade machines, which have all been lovingly saved and restored. The space is cool, the games are fun, each has a great description of the maker, the design and the game mechanics in Russian and in English (slightly abridged). There's a cool cafe and Soviet era soda machines that dispense Kvass and other drinks. Entry is 450rub per person, for which you get a bunch of coins to play the machines.
Gavin M — Google review
Even though the name of the museum is what originally hooked us, the name actually sells it a little short. While they do have a huge unique selection of Soviet-Era arcade machines, they also have many other things from that era including a unique exhibit where you can smell things from that time, listen to things, try drinks, etc. How the arcade portion works is you pay admission and receive about 15 Soviet era coins to use in the machines. I believe you can buy more as well. They also come in a unique match box to hold while you play. “Technically” you are supposed to turn in the remainder coins as you leave since they aren’t in circulation any more, but no one really seems to care if you want to keep one as a souvenir. They also have free Wifi, coffee and snacks, clean toilets and a small selection of things to purchase. The selection of arcade machines is good, although they aren’t always in perfect repair, but that is part of the fun!
Reed B — Google review
I knew nothing about arcade games from CCCP times, but this was two hours of quality time. With your ticket you get a matchbox with bunch of original coins from soviet time. You can use them to play any of the games. 1 coin = 1 play. 90% of the games are in very good working condition, other ones are under maintenance. Staff is very patient to explain to you how the museum works, coins, games, etc. Must visit if you are in St. Peterburg.
Skubi P — Google review
A fun place to go and visit if in St Petersburg. The staff were very friendly and welcoming, gave a good explanation of all the things there. Some of the machines weren't working, which was a bit of a shame, but can't be helped. Was interesting as an outsider to see all the games that were played in the USSR. If you're a gamer and in the area, I would recommend going - very cool as well to use the old Soviet coins to pay for things.
Dominic L — Google review
Super cool place, with a coffee shop atmosphere. Seeing these machines and getting to play them was a trip back in time. I loved the machines with the vacuum tubes that could light up as numbers for your score. I definitely recommend getting a soda from the old Soviet soda fountain. The cream soda was actually incredibly delicious.
Nicholas W — Google review
It is nice to see the adults playing these games. I also loved how they give the coins for machines. Inside a match box. It is a bit small and you may need to wait for machines. You enjoy more if you go with your friends.

I have come to this place and on all rights they didn't allow me to use a GoPro. at the end some kind worker told me that I have to go to the administration Saigon there and wasted 30 minutes of my life trying to find it because no one could tell me where it is I finally got there and they told me that I cannot use it because it would hit other people but that didn't make sense because my hand couldn't even reach the other people so I wasted an hour of my life 😭 plus everything is expensive and I don't recommend going here 😞
Fedor T — Google review
As a European, I am used to pay a very expensive price for a ticket for an amusement parc. Even though they are bigger, at the end you do not do so much because it’s always a full line for every rollercoaster or other thing. Here, it’s very easy. You just pay for the ride or service you want to do. It’s cost effective for clients and makes more sense overall. It is a nice parc, with great rides and also has nice surroundings!
Sforza G — Google review
It's good, but not very cheap.

It's an awesome place for fun rides. All major roller coasters and kids rides are available here and it's a very pleasant atmosphere. No fee to enter this park just you have to pay for the rides. Nice restaurants with lakes and 🦆 house. Once you cross the park there is famous football stadium of Petersburg. Best place to spend a day with friends and family and little ones!!!
Ahsan Z — Google review
We didn’t really know what to expect when visiting a theme park in Russia, but we knew we had to go! First of all, there is no admission charge but the park is VERY clean and seems very safe for a “city park”. Rides are sold per ride via tickets or they occasionally offer a wristband for unlimited rides. Since a few rides were closed when we were there, they only offered the sale of individual tickets. We had a tour guide with us to translate, otherwise the ticket booth would be a bit of a confusing mess. Rides are kinda named, but it’s not very obvious. You also have to pay a little extra to guarantee a front seat ride on their biggest 10 inversion coaster - also a little confusing. All that aside, the park is very nice with decent theming and horticulture. Rides seem well maintained and there is a decent selection of quick F&B offerings. They were only dispatching rides at intervals or when they had full trains so be prepared to wait even when there is no line. Overall I would visit again in a heartbeat.
