The Black Church is a Gothic church with a rich history dating back to the 1600s. It earned its name from a fire that blackened its walls, and today it is adorned with striking murals and Ottoman rugs. The church stands as an important landmark in the Saxon town of Brasov, offering visitors a glimpse into its storied past.
From the outside, it looks like just another "black" Gothic church. But step inside, and you’ll find an unexpected combo of massive organ pipes, stone statues, and… Turkish carpets. Yep, the largest collection of oriental carpets in Europe, hanging right inside a church. Who knew medieval Transylvania had such interior design flair? 🕌⛪ One heads-up: tickets aren’t sold at the door but across the square at the tourist info center. So if you’re already at the entrance feeling all holy and ready—sorry, backtrack time. Built in the 14th century as the Church of Saint Mary, it earned its current name after a massive fire in 1689 that blackened its walls. These days it’s more “charcoal chic” than pitch black, but the name stuck—probably because “Slightly Smudged Church” doesn’t sound as cool. A must-see if you’re in Brașov, and definitely one of the more unique churches you’ll come across in Europe.
Michael N — Google review
There is a 25 Ron fee to visit the church which I feel is a high price. During the summer, there’s an organ concert every Saturday. Instead of visiting the church for 25 Ron, I chose to pay 5 ron extra for the organ concert. Tickets are sold across the church’s front entrance at the building with the address of 8. Cash or credit cards are accepted. The concert lasts for an hour and begins at 6 pm. The concert is projected onto a screen. Note: try not to sit in the first two rows as you will not be able to see the screen. I stayed after the concert to admire the many beautiful rugs displayed inside. There are also a couple of stunning paintings.
Melanie E — Google review
Nice large church with a nice story behind it. Need to buy tickets, 25 for adult and 15 for a child, don't know why. There are some historical items inside near the enterence, so maybe they consider themselves as a museum. The organ is very impressive.
Evgy — Google review
Not worth the ticket price (25 lei) as the church is beautiful but nothing exceptional, and more interesting from the outside. Also the lady who checked out tickets did not even say hello, not a word. Please train your staff!
Ilinca — Google review
The Black Church is worth a visit by anyone visiting Brasov. Has lots of unique features and items of note. For one all the church pews are segregated based on the various historic guilds of the city, with paintings in front of each dictating the guild. The organ is the largest of all in Romania and there's quite an impressive altar piece. Tickets are required for entry and can be purchased opposite the church entrance in the INSPIRATIO gift shop. 20RON for a standard adult ticket.
Matthew S — Google review
A huge medieval church, really beautiful and impressive. The name "Black church" comes from its dark appearance caused by either the fire that devastated the church in late 17th century or from later pollution. A definite must see site in Brasov.
Henri ( — Google review
A truly remarkable landmark and one of the most impressive Gothic churches in Eastern Europe. The Black Church dominates the center of Brașov with its massive structure, dark stone walls, and beautiful setting right next to Piața Sfatului. Even from the outside it’s striking, and once you walk closer you really feel its historical weight. A bit of history & curiosities: • The church dates back to the 14th century and was originally known as the Church of Saint Mary. • It earned the name “Black Church” after a catastrophic fire in 1689 that darkened its walls with smoke. • It’s the largest Gothic church in Romania, famous for its vast interior and impressive acoustics. • Inside, it houses one of the biggest collections of Anatolian carpets in Europe—brought by merchants from the Ottoman Empire and donated over centuries. • It also has a magnificent pipe organ built in the 19th century, known for its powerful sound and used for concerts. The atmosphere around the church is peaceful and incredibly photogenic, especially with the mountains rising behind it.
Patrizia P — Google review
Although I suppose it was an excellent architecture place, unfortunately it had many periods of disasters in the past . Some things have survived but are too less. Unfortunately I didn't have the time to experience the Organ concerts there. Whith what is remaining, people have done an excellent exhibition. The building outside is marvelous. I think what I missed more are painted walls.

The Council Square in Brasov is a picturesque former market square featuring the town hall, fountains, shops, cafes, and museums. Surrounding the square are baroque buildings and cafes to explore. Nearby attractions include the Gothic Black Church, hiking trails up Mount Tampa for stunning views, and Rope Street, known as Europe's narrowest street. Visitors can also take day trips to Bran Castle and Rasnov Citadel.
Brasov Council Square is the heart of the city and a great place to linger. Colorful buildings frame the square, and you’ll often hear street music mixing with the chatter from busy cafes. The mountain backdrop makes it easy to stop for photos. It can get crowded in the middle of the day, so mornings or evenings are better if you want space to explore.

The city of Brasov, with its charming old town, colorful townhouses, and narrow streets, boasts the Black Church, the old town hall, and watchtowers offering stunning views of the entire city. It also boasts a picturesque market square with the town hall and fountains, surrounded by shops, cafes, and museums. Lovely place to see
Monika K — Google review
A truly beautiful square and one of the highlights of Brașov. Piața Sfatului has a charming atmosphere, surrounded by colorful medieval buildings, cafés, and the impressive Black Church just a few steps away. It’s the kind of place where you can sit, relax, and simply enjoy the view of the mountains above the rooftops. The square feels lively but not chaotic, with plenty of space to walk around, take photos, or stop for a drink. It’s also the perfect starting point for exploring the historic center. A bit of history: Piața Sfatului dates back to the 14th century and was once the heart of Brașov’s commercial life, where merchants from all over Europe met and traded. At the center stands the Council House (Casa Sfatului), originally built in 1420 and expanded over the centuries. It served as the administrative seat of the city and today hosts the Brașov History Museum. The square has witnessed markets, fairs, political events, and centuries of Transylvanian history, making it one of the most iconic public spaces in Romania.
Patrizia P — Google review
A very nice almost Mediterranean square with lots of cafes, confectionery & shops. However, it is quite touristic and so more expensive than other areas of Romania. A couple decent museums and lots of interesting history
Aidan R — Google review
Lots of restaurants, coffee, and dessert establishments. Has an old town look and charm. Family friendly and safe. Fountain and places to sit and eat dinner. Historic area.
John G — Google review
The centre of Brașov which is full of character and rich history. There are plenty of restaurants, shops and landmarks to admire and explore such as the black church.
Super J — Google review
A very wonderful square that is definitely worth visiting! The best thing is that when you find yourself in this square, besides the beauty of the buildings and surroundings, you also have an amazing view of the Brașov hills.
Denis I — Google review
A very pleasant and cozy square. It may get a bit touristy, but still manages to feel laid-back and relaxed. Right in the middle stands the old town hall, now a museum, and around it you’ll find plenty of cafés, restaurants, and churches – including the famous Black Church, the largest Gothic church in Romania. If you look up, you’ll spot the “Hollywood-style” Brașov sign lit up on the hill at night. A bit cheesy? Sure. But somehow, it fits perfectly. :) michaelnae-->(instagram)

The First Romanian School Museum, located in the Schei district near St. Nicholas Church, is a historical gem that dates back to 1583 when the first courses in the Romanian language were held there. The museum houses around 4,000 old books and over 30,000 documents and artifacts related to Romanian education in the region. The building itself has a rich history, having been reconstructed in baroque style in 1760. Additionally, adjacent to St.
FIRST: THE ENTRANCE TO THE MUSEUM IS NOT AT THE SCHOOL'S DOOR, BUT NEXT GATE TO THE RIGHT OF THE MAIN GATE. There is a huge sign outside the gate, but the message is not very clear and many people miss it. This being said, we had an outstanding experience, a real dive in Romanian history and culture. The guide, who had advanced studies in religion and history, was extremely competent and he diligently answered all our questions.
Radu O — Google review
The First Romanian School is located in Brașov, specifically in the courtyard of a church. It is said to have visiting hours that include the interior, but unfortunately, I couldn’t access it due to discrepancies in the schedule—a problem I noticed other visitors encountered as well. The courtyard’s walls add to the charm of the site, harmonizing beautifully with both the church and the school. I believe this landmark is a must-visit, as it allows you to step onto the grounds where education in Romania first began.
Stef A — Google review
A museum I can see more potential to despite it's small size which of course was the reason for the importance. The personnel at that time was a very kind and personable man Cris. He also suggested me to visit the church across which was so beautiful
Stevenson Q — Google review
By the time I visited the museum it was partially closed for renovation. It is more like a historical milestone then a museum. Frankly, not much to see here. The great thing about it were the sights, the location the surroundings. A beautiful place to visit in the old side of town. Also the gentleman selling tickets at the entrance was really kind, helpful, giving us a a small but pleasant tour of this tiny museum, with a lot of valuable history behind. So if you got some thirty minutes to invest in visiting, your curiousity will be rewarded.
Zeno M — Google review
It's cute, but it's just two rooms. Most worthwhile thing about heading this way is the church right next to it and the territory around.
Jurijs K — Google review
Very interesting experience! We had a very nice and knowledgeable guide. Learnt a lot about the history of Romanian school and first books The guide was friendly and held the whole tour in English. However, we felt that the whole tour went on too quickly and the guide was very rushed, moving from subject to subject almost immediately and without leaving any time for questions
Monica M — Google review
Such an interesting museum! ✅ Very kind and funny guide - many detailed explanations, presented to the children's liking. Tickets cannot be bought in advance. No appointments are made for groups. Maybe change this rule, it would be easier for groups. Visited November 2023

Great place, nice staff. Only reason I gave it 4 stars is cause its small it has an old classroom a printing press and some pictures on the second floor. And just wondering wasn't it Hungary at the time?

Strada Sforii, also known as Rope Street, is a historic narrow street in Brasov that dates back to the 17th century. Measuring just 260 feet in length, it is considered one of the narrowest streets in Europe and the world. Originally used by firemen for emergencies, it has become a popular tourist attraction.
Quite interesting. This used to be a route for firemen to easily cross over from the fire station to the (black) church. It's now a graffiti lane, free for all.
Paul T — Google review
This street is full of history and also of all kind of wall writings from people that passed through it. However the ratings are overrated from my point of view. I mean it's nice but not really a 5 star attraction.
Denis I — Google review
I lived in the city for 15 years and I came across this street just this year, it is interesting and is worth the walk, easy to find and also a great spot for photos

The White Tower is a restored 15th-century watchtower in Brasov, Romania. It offers a museum experience with photos and pictures of the city's history. The tower has an open semicircular plan shaped like a horseshoe and was once the most interesting defensive bastion of the Fortress of Brasov. Visitors can also explore nearby attractions such as the Black Church, Republicii Street with its Renaissance, Classic and Baroque architecture, and other historical buildings in the area.
While walking along the path near the river, we stumbled upon a sign for a white tower or something like that. We decided to check it out, and the view turned out to be incredible. Since we went during the spring, the nature was especially nice. We didn't go inside since it was closed at the time.
Dimitris — Google review
A historical site above Braşov with a beautiful view of old town. A perfect site to watch the sunrise as it casts its rays over the red rooftops.
Jeffrey N — Google review
Amazing view of Brasov, the full view encompasses the different historic architecture that spans the Communist-era to the medieval German settlers and native Romanian people. The climb to the White Tower is a rather steep flight of staircase so it may be challenging for some. Nonetheless, the view is worth the effort!
Aaron N — Google review
Must see of course. Get there at noon and hear all the city church bells ringing. Panoramic views of the town of Brasov. Perfect.
Brett M — Google review
Great place to see a different face of Brașov City from above. And climbing the stairs helps for that moment. We did not visit the tower, just admired from outside.
Daniel L — Google review
Like its neighbor, the Black Tower, the White Tower is yet another abandoned historical monument. In theory, the building is supposed to host various temporary exhibitions, but although I visit Brașov at least once a year, I’ve never once found it open. I’ll give it two stars only because it hasn’t yet suffered the same “restoration” treatment as the Black Tower, where someone thought a glass roof would be a brilliant idea. Otherwise, it’s the same story as everywhere else: dirt, neglected paths, graffiti-covered walls, and a complete lack of information panels...
Catalin H — Google review

Mountains
Tâmpa Mountain, part of the Postavaru Massif, stands at 960 meters and holds historical significance dating back to the Dacians and Romans. This natural reserve offers hiking trails and a gondola for access. Tourists flock here for panoramic views of Brasov, cultural visits, trekking in nearby mountains, winter sports in Poiana Brasov resort, and adventure activities in Park Aventura.
A moderate hike. There are multiple paths to the peak from different faces of the mountain with different levels of difficulty. The cable car has been torn down (2025) and seems to be being rebuild completely, so hiking, running, or even biking! are your best options. A beautiful view of Braşov and the mountains around Tâmpa. There is also an overlook immediately next to the 'V' in the BRAŞOV sign.
Jeffrey N — Google review
We were walking by foot to Tampa hill. The cable car is under renovation at the moment. Walk up is about 1h, walking up and down is about 6 km. Nearby the hill You can also get to the Brasov sign with the platform to enjoy city panorama. We really liked the place and the view as well.

It was a great experience that I hike this place. I don't think I would have regretted visiting this city for this alone. It looks resident friendly and even at the entrance, it was nice to hear someone playing. It has a very beautiful view and the slope is not high, so if you are young, you can climb to the top and come down in two to three hours. It would be nice to take a picture with the sunset on time.

Tâmpa, standing at 960 meters, is the highest point in Brașov, offering breathtaking views of the city and the surrounding mountain range. The Weavers Bastion, a well-preserved fortress bastion from the 15th century, has been transformed into a medieval museum. It is renowned for its unique architecture and impressive acoustics, making it a venue for opera and music concerts. Visitors can explore the courtyard free of charge and view historical models of the city dating back to 1896. The bastion also features a more recent model showcasing buildings from the Communist period.
Visiting the bastion is like walking back in time, really interesting experience. You can climb to the top floor and get a nice view of Brasov and there is also a small exhibit of medieval weapons.
Elena B — Google review
This place is a shame on the Brasov's administration. Bastionul Ţesătorilor (Weavers' Bastion) is one of the most important historical monuments in the city, and until 15-20 years ago, it was also one of the best preserved. Unfortunately, for years, public funds have been wasted, leaving the historical monuments (bastions and defense towers of the city) to decay. The pictures you see on promotional sites date from when the building was well-maintained. My opinion was that, in a few years, if no action is taken, only the bastion's walls will remain. The wooden stairs and decks, once used by soldiers, are deteriorating and nearly dismantled, making much of the upper galleries inaccessible. The lady selling tickets does just that – she sells tickets. Don’t expect to get any information from her. While the city model is very interesting, the attached electronic tablets are almost non-functional, making it difficult to learn about the historical buildings presented. A mini-documentary about the fire that devastated the city center a few centuries ago plays on a screen above the model. Although interesting, it is very short (less than 10 minutes) and repeats continuously, becoming unbearable after a while. The collection of medieval weapons has remained unchanged for about 20 years, as the museum administrators have not bothered to bring in some new exhibits. Overall, the bastion, instead of being a real tourist attraction, is merely a reflection of the authorities' incompetence and negligence.
Catalin H — Google review
An opportunity to step back in time and learn all about the guild system and ethos. A quick walk through the old town and a 15 minute walk around is all that is required to get a sense of the place and of the time. We had the place to ourselves.

A must see! Incredible interior finish work each room more beautiful than the previous
Jim K — Google review
The Bastion is a charming, well-preserved fragment of Brașov’s medieval defensive architecture. Its compact scale makes it an easily accessible and highly rewarding stop. The primary appeal is the spectacular view from the tower. Access to the main bastion and the viewing platforms is free. A small, dedicated museum is situated within the structure, available to explore for a modest entry fee, although it was unfortunately closed during my visit. Overall, this is a highly recommended and brief stop to soak in the history and capture the city's scale
Herman N — Google review
A little bit about the history of Brasov. A map of the old city offers the possibility to find out about the city and the changes throughout the times. Concerts are organized in this location.
Laura N — Google review
It's a cool place with preserved architecture. However, much of it is in disrepair and resembles a construction site, with loose planks, lots of dust, and random pieces of furniture stacked against the walls. It is free to walk around and explore, but if you would like to enter the museum, it is about 10 lei.
Joel — Google review
The museum on site has a wonderful historical maquette of Brașov with a video detailing the city's storied history. After visiting the museum we climbed the bastion. We could ascend all the way to the top of the Northern tower. The place looks very impressive. It was sad to see so few people visiting. If you're in Brașov it's definitely worth the short visit.

Beth Israel Synagogue, also known as Sinagoga Beit Israel, is a significant landmark in Brasov, Romania. Constructed between 1899 and 1901, this Orthodox synagogue features striking red and white stripes and showcases a blend of Neo-Gothic and Moorish architectural styles. Situated near Rope Street, it is renowned for its vibrant exterior and ornate interior.
A beautiful, bright synagogue shining like a white pearl in the middle of town. Inside, there’s a special calm and atmosphere that makes you forget for a moment that you’re in the middle of a busy modern world. Built around the turn of the 19th to 20th century, it carries the charm of a time when nobody even knew what a selfie was. Who knows, maybe some historical mysteries could be solved here. Anyway, even if history isn’t your thing, just enjoy the space and take a moment to pause — before someone snaps a sneaky photo of you. ;)

A large and beautifully constructed synagogue, about 100 meters from Schei Gate. Inside is peacefully silent. stained glasses on the windows bears names of the cities in Is-rael. Tourists’ entrance is 10 lei.
Sumandra M — Google review
Looks nice outside have no idea how it looks inside
Andrii — Google review
20 lei entrance was a bit of a rort. Also seemed not very historically accurate as it was renovated in 2001 and has a ton of stained windows which are clearly new as they have Israeli flags which wouldn't have existed in 1901.
Belinda P — Google review
Wonderful edifice both on the outside and the inside, although I feel they could have done a better job with telling the history of the place and the Jewish community of Brasov. That being said, the entry fee of about two euros is reasonable for what you get to see. There is a kosher restaurant nearby as well as a monument commentating the Jews who were killed during the Holocaust.

Beth Israel Synagogue in Brașov is one of the city’s most striking landmarks, built in 1901 by architect Lipót Baumhorn. The red façade and stained glass windows stand out, and stepping inside gives a sense of calm and history. The space is small, it holds a lot of heritage. Worth a short stop if you’re exploring the old town.

The Beth Israel Synagogue in Brasov (Hebrew: בית ישראל), a neological synagogue in the vernacular language, stands at 29 Poarta Șchei Street in the center of Brasov, Romania, behind the street front, on a plot surrounded by houses. The synagogue still plays a ritual role. The building complex includes a community seat and a kosher restaurant. Beth Israel Synagogue is included in the list of National Historic monuments in Romania under the number BV-II-m-B-11515.

Biserica Neagră, also known as the Black Church, stands as a remarkable example of Gothic architecture in Eastern Europe. Initially built by Brasov's German community in the 15th century as the Church of Saint Mary, it later became a Lutheran establishment in the 16th century and remains so today. This impressive church is one of Romania's tallest, reaching a height of 65 meters and houses the country's heaviest bell at 6000kg.
Nice Church, but in January, 2019 is still closed for public visits, which is sad.

Overall great experience, the fact that we can’t take pictures inside is a bit of a con but the tour itself was very nice. The entry ticket was quite expensive, looking at normal prices in Romania it seemed a bit out of place.
Mina — Google review
The Black Church in Brașov, originally built as the Church of Saint Mary in the late 14th century, stands as a masterpiece of Gothic architecture. Constructed with the skill of Bulgarian craftsmen, it embodies both history and legend. The black tint is not actually from a fire that broke out but from… pollution. The ticket price is too high for what it has to offer.
Razvan-George D — Google review
Black Church - one of the tallest churches in Romania (65 m height), has the heaviest bell in Romania (6000kg). Builded in ghotic style, is the biggest lutheran establishment for worship in Romania. Due to downtown location in Brasov, it s very difficult to park your car nearby to the church. The closest place, was a paid parking area at around 600 m from the church, where you can leave your car and walk around. A must place to visit in Brasov, with great surroundings and nice views !
Cezar N — Google review
he originally-Roman Catholic structure was known as the Church of Saint Mary, replacing an older building used for the same purpose.[1] Construction on it began during the late 14th century, at an unknown date — analysis of related evidence has led several researchers to conclude that work began between 1383 and 1385,[2] employing Bulgarian workers and craftsmen who proceeded to establish the Brașov Bulgarian colony in Șcheii Brașovului.[3][4] According to popular legend, a German child was disturbing the Bulgarian builders or told them that one of the walls was leaning. An annoyed Bulgarian pushed the child off the church tower and then immured his corpse in the church to conceal his crime.[5] It is known that, in its first stages, the building was serviced by a priest named Thomas (died 1410), whose grave is located in the choir area.[6] Work on the fortifications in the surrounding area probably began at the same time as work on the church, leading in time to the completion of Brașov's third citadel.[7] Its altar originally featured a single column, but its role in supporting the entire central structure — on the model of German cathedrals built by Hans Stettheimer (a view expressed by researchers such as Ernst Kühlbrandt and Antal Hekler) is under dispute.[8] The naves took longer to complete, and construction was interrupted for various intervals: in 1423, Pope Martin V issued an indulgence for people involved in construction, as a means to reactivate the site; in 1474, a document issued by Sixtus IV acknowledged that work was still lagging.[9] Several octagonal pillars, redesigned at least once during the building process, were probably completed around 1444.[10] One of them features the inlaid crest of military leader John Hunyadi, who is mentioned among the church benefactors.[11] The most intense work took place before and after 1450, and involved completing the exceptionally large number of portals, including the northern "Golden Gate" and its adjacent altar of the Holy Sacrifice.[12] The eastern portal, commissioned by the Hungarian King Matthias Corvinus, was completed in 1476.[13] The vestry was enlarged at some point between 1500 and 1515.[14] The Black Church in summer Completed during the 15th century (soon after 1476), the church belongs to the final stages of Gothic architecture.[15] The result was a three-nave basilica, all the same height,[8] as was preferred during the 15th and 16th centuries in the German lands, where most of the architects and masons originated. Many parts of the building show similarities with the church in Sebeș and St. Michael Church of Cluj-Napoca,[16] as well as with the Dominikánsky kostol in Košice.[17] The design was itself an inspiration for other religious buildings in the region, and it is possible that a stonemason originally employed on the site later worked on the church in Ghimbav.[18] The Catholic services were replaced with Lutheran ones during the Protestant Reformation, coinciding with the influence exercised by Johannes Honter. A statue in memory of Honter was later erected by Harro Magnussen on one side of the building. The structure was partially destroyed during a great fire set by invading Habsburg forces on the April 21, 1689 (during the Great Turkish War).[19] Afterwards, it became known as the Black Church. A large part of the inner structure was modified during the 18th century, breaking with the original design.[8] Following the fire of 1689, Biserica Neagră was repaired with the help of masons coming from Danzig, as local craftsmen had not mastered the craft of completing the enormous vaults; these were to be completed in Baroque style.

Adventure Park Brasov, situated near the Zoo and Lake Noua, is a thrilling outdoor park spanning 2.5 hectares of forest. It features 15 courses of varying difficulty levels with suspension bridges, platforms, games, and 692 meters of zip lines. The longest zip line crosses the lake over a distance of 307 meters. Visitors can escape to luxury boutique hotels in the serene Carpathian Mountains for a peaceful retreat and stunning mountain views.
Adventure Park Brașov offers one of the most remarkable zip-line experiences in the region, making it an essential destination for both enthusiasts and adventurous visitors. Among its many features, the park’s red and black tracks stand out as exemplary demonstrations of design and challenge. The red tracks provide an excellent balance of excitement and technical interest, appealing to those who want to test their skills in a safe yet thrilling environment. Of particular note is the black track, which is among the most difficult and rewarding routes I have encountered in any zip-line park. It demands focus, physical readiness, and confidence, delivering an unforgettable sense of achievement upon completion. The variety and quality of these tracks clearly demonstrate the park's commitment to providing a world-class adventure experience. Adding to its exceptional appeal is the zip line that crosses over the lake, offering a spectacular vantage point and truly breathtaking scenery. Overall, Adventure Park Brașov exemplifies excellence in outdoor recreation, combining well-maintained facilities with carefully planned routes that cater to a wide range of skill levels. I highly recommend it to anyone seeking an authentic and memorable adventure in Romania.

This is of the best adventure parks we have been in Europe, with plenty of trails to do regardless of your age. The highlight is a 307 m long zip wire over a lake (35 kg minimum weight required). Some members of staff were maybe not the most friendly, but most of them were helpful, kind, and organized across the entire park so that assistance was always available.

I think this park is one of the best in Romania. You pay for 2 hours, around 110RON, there are multiple routes with different difficulties. First you have to do an easy one then you can do the harder ones. We'll definitely come back to finish the other routes!

The place is great but a bit pricey. Lots of helpful staff along the way and instruction videos available in several languages. Everything is clean and well maintained. The only downside is the time limitation. We were lucky to arrive early, so we didn’t get stuck behind anyone, but one slow climber ahead of you could cost you quite a bit of time. We managed to do three different parcours without rushing, plus the big omega, which is a must if you ask the kids!

Had a fantastic day at the water park with my child! He had an amazing time on the slides and in the pools, and I really enjoyed the relaxed, fun atmosphere. Clean facilities, friendly staff, and plenty of spots to sit and unwind. A great place for families – we’ll definitely come back!

We spent a rainy day in Brașov at the indoor water park, and it turned out to be the perfect choice for the weather. The main area of the park features several indoor pools of varying temperatures and depths, including areas suitable for both adults and children. The water is clean and warm, and the facilities are well-maintained. There are relaxing pools with massage jets, a few small slides for younger kids, and a larger pool where families can swim together comfortably. What made the experience even better was the additional section on the other side of the park – a separate paid area with a large indoor gymboree and ninja-style obstacle course designed especially for kids. Our children were thrilled! The ninja course included climbing walls, rope swings, and balance challenges, while the gymboree was filled with soft play structures, ball pits, and tunnels. It was the perfect combination of physical activity and fun in a safe indoor environment. Overall, this place is an ideal destination for a family day out, especially when the weather isn’t great. It kept the kids entertained for hours, and we as parents also got to relax and enjoy ourselves. Highly recommended if you’re in Brașov with children on a rainy day!

Aquatic Paradise is a fun place to spend a day, with plenty of pools, slides, and spa options for all ages. It’s clean, well-kept, and there’s a lot to do whether you want to relax or be active. That said, it’s not affordable for everyone, and the prices seem to climb higher every year. It’s starting to feel like management is aiming for a quick cash grab rather than building long-term customer loyalty. Still, if you can budget for it, it’s an enjoyable experience, just be prepared for the cost.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Paradisul Acvatic is one of Brașov’s best spots for relaxation and fun. 🌊 Whether you’re here for swimming, saunas, or just spending a carefree day with family, it has something for everyone. The pools are clean and well-maintained, and the wellness area with saunas and jacuzzis is perfect for recharging after a busy week. What impressed me most is how spacious the whole place feels – both inside and outside. In summer, the outdoor pools and green areas create a true holiday vibe right here in Brașov. 🏖️ I also filmed some aerial shots with my drone, and you can really see how beautiful and well-organized everything is from above. It’s definitely a place worth visiting, whether you’re local or just passing through. Highly recommend for families, couples, or anyone looking for a mix of fun, relaxation, and wellness! 💦

I would rank the place medium qualtity Fairly clean, not overcrouded you can spend couple of hours bathing, spa, or even for sports. Though I reccomend a refreshment of the place I'm glad that it exists.
Ferencz L — Google review
Unfortunately, it was so messy and crowded. Not for adults or relaxing. Sauna is almost cold because kids go in and out and leave the door open. Staff is overworked because of the crowd, and they're stressed and almost rude. It is for family / kids or someone who is trying to learn swimming. Maybe also suitable for teenagers but they misbehave and try to push each other under water. Life guards are almost useless

Biserica Sfântul Nicolae, also known as St. Nicholas Church, is a historic Romanian Orthodox church located in the Schei district of Brasov, Romania. Dating back to the late 13th century, this Gothic-style church was later rebuilt incorporating Baroque architecture. It holds great significance as the first Orthodox church in Transylvania and is part of a complex that includes an Orthodox Cathedral and a museum.
Stumbled across this famous old church by accident as I was looking for parking. Beautiful grounds, walk all the way around then go inside. Really dark but you can get a sense of how old this church is better from the inside. Regretfully it appears to be falling in disrepair and needs maintenance and restoration. There was no one else really here so no issues taking pictures. The door was open.

Exceptional monument of architecture and fab church in Schei district of Brasov town. The only thing wasn't impressed with was the painting of Romanian Queen inside with naked arm and shoulder. That's a no no for me. Titulescu grave us nearby, also first Romanian school and publishing house are located on the same grounds.
Shoe P — Google review
A lovely little church, especially at night when it’s beautifully lit and shines like a beacon over the old Schei district. During the day, it might seem a bit understated, but once the lights come on, it turns into something truly magical—like you're waiting for a saint to appear… or maybe a vampire, this is Romania after all. 😄 Dating back to the 15th century, this is one of the most important Romanian Orthodox landmarks in Transylvania. Inside you’ll find impressive frescoes and icons, and right next door is the First Romanian School with a small museum. A perfect blend of history and nighttime charm.

Mirela D — Google review
This is one of the most important landmarks of the city, not only does it date back to the 15th century but it pertains to Romanian history quite unlike the monuments of the old citadel which are German. Unfortunately, while the church is indeed beautiful with some stunning outside murals it is not very well maintained and this is such a shame. I remember visiting 20 years ago and it was in a far better shape than now. The inside is dimly lit, there is a huge souvenir shop in dissonance with what a place of worship should be and often the place is closed for no apparent reason. Photos even by phone are not allowed, the old murals are in places impossible to see though so not much of a loss. The garden is nice in the summer and well maintained but the personnel are quite grumpy and not fans of tourists.

Nestled in the picturesque south-eastern part of Brasov, Zoo Brașov is a sprawling 25-acre wildlife haven at the edge of the forest. Renowned for its well-developed infrastructure and diverse animal population, this Instagram-worthy destination offers an up-close view of various mammals including tigers, lions, jaguars, brown bears, and snow leopards.
One of the best zoo in the country I would say, from an animal welfare point of view and variety. Animals look well, the enclosures look well build and have multiple well designed viewpoints to see the animals. The sea lions and seals were spectacular! So were the penguins, and even the endemic species were great! Some parts are still in construction, I hope to come again in the following years to see what they add. Can't wait to see the reptiles and fish when they open the building, I'm sure they'll be kept in good conditions.

It is what it is, it's a zoo and it delivers. There are a lot of cute animals to view here. Looks like they're being taken care of. Some animals were missing though, and some parts of the zoo were closed off. That's why I'm giving it a 4 instead of a 5. It's an alright zoo but still a fun experience.
Hypo — Google review
Too many points closed without previous notice. We went in and discovered that they were closed. Only the penguins corner was nicely visible. We could also see the tigers, birds like swans, vultures or even an owl, a bear, a zebra, camels, and a variety of monkeys.

Zoo environment is quite new as it is open from 2023. Protected houses of animals were quite clean, full of plants or trees. Unfortunately we weren't able to see all the animals, as they weren't there (probably the space was temporarily closed). An additional note is that lions (both male & female) seemed exhausted 🤨🤨

Brasov is a amazing small cute town. It’s a nice place for summer heat escape if you can’t stand summer heat. Rent a car here if you are traveling in group so you can also do few days road trip out of this town. Few restaurants I would strongly recommend. Bite pub which is at the entrance of the old town. They served authentic Chinese food and good pizza and grills. Dei Frati for this pasta. Cucinino for this mussels soup. Do not try the bubble tea as the ingredients they using are all artificial flavoured powders. It’s totally different from what south east Asia countries are selling and it’s overpriced

Good beds, big enough room with lockers for all, decent kitchen, 10min walk to old town, friendly owner, good WiFi, free toast and cereal for breakfast is always welcomed. My only gripes are that there isn't much of a common area (plus it's usually being used by her and her friends anyways) and there were 1 power socket in an 8 bed dorm right beside the door, behind the wardrobe. Overall would stay here again!

A very cozy and beautiful flat, situated right in the heart of Brasov! They have everything close and the owners were very friendly and willing to help if necessary(of course we didn’t need any help because everything was aleeady set up). It’s perfect for a break with your friends, because it has a lot of space. We’ll be back soon enough!

Discover the enchanting underground world of Valea Cetatii Cave, a natural wonder shaped by water over time. Nestled within a protected area, this cave boasts the breathtaking Cathedral Hall, accessible through an ancient forest. Inside, marvel at the 30,000 cubic meter space adorned with stunning calcite formations and hanging white arches reflected in small pools of water. While reaching the cave involves a steep climb from the parking lot, it's manageable for most visitors.
Nice place to visit. Cave is quite small, tour takes about 15-20minutes. For the while they are switching off the lights, so there is complete darkness (better not to move then). It's worth to mention, they have a recording about the history of this place also in English.
Sebastian W — Google review
Expect a steep and unpaved walk to the cave. You can visit cave with an instructor every 30 minutes and the visit does not last longer than 15 minutes. Although small cave I really enjoyed the opportunity to be in the darkness for 30 seconds to listen water tripping and imagine being there alone.
Katre K — Google review
Very nice cave with a 15 minute tour. You go into the cave and they play a recording describing the cave's history and such (with English translation) and then they turn off the lights so you can see nothing and only hear drops of water falling. The trek to the cave is about 10-15 minutes of somewhat challenging ascent (through a beautiful forest) and tours happen every 30 minutes, so it's best to plan accordingly to arrive close to tour time or you will have to wait (we arrived right as a tour started so we had to wait 30 minutes 😬). I recommend visiting in one of the last tours in the day to avoid crowds.
Kluddy — Google review
This is a cave for people who are simply wondering, "What does a cave look like?" Every cave is amazing, but as far as you spend only 10-15 minutes inside, it's more of a side stop if you're nearby with a car. You can visit this with nice clothes and makeup, and then continue your day.
Rachel M — Google review
It's an amazing natural site, that was recently discovered. You can't get in the caves alone, there's a tour and you must be accompanied by a guide. The tour itself is kinda short, with a short recorder audio explanation. To consider: 1. There's a steep incline by foot to get there, not suitable for disabled. 2. The tour is very short, barely worth the cost in terms of "value for money" 3. Parts of the cave were vandalized by locals. 4. Be there at 10:00, when it opens, or you might find yourself with a large group of people, and that can spoil the experience.
Uriya O — Google review
A 15 minutes tour in a medium to small sized cave. As part of the tour they turned off the lights for a few seconds. That was a nice experience, but apart from that nothing special. The access from the parking lot is a steep 15-20 minutes walk
Idan S — Google review
The cave is neither overly spacious nor deep, it can be visited in 5 minutes. It should be emphasized that there is a rather steep and long road leading to the cave (but it is a real pleasure while going through the forest)
Marina V — Google review
Lot is a nice and quite big room, quite new cave meaning not too much stalactites. I really like that it has metal railings, good explanation, cleanliness (including the toilet), free parking, the road is unpaved (some minutes through the forest). The price is quite steep for 15 minutes, but ok if you calculate I'm Euros.

Seven Ladders Canyon, part of the Masivul Piatra Mare protected area near the 3 Stejari domain, is a stunning natural attraction in Romania. This limestone canyon features metal stairs and platforms leading to seven different waterfalls along the Seven Stairs stream, a tributary of the Sipoaia river. Despite its small length of only 230m and a difference in level between 55-60m, it offers spectacular views thanks to the cascading waterfalls.
Extremely beautiful canyon and well maintained safety installations. Be prepared for some adrenaline while you climb, especially Ladder 3 ( "don't look down" type of situation). Perfect for the entire family. Myself ( @40) and my 68 year old Mum really enjoyed it, and I am planning to bring my teenage daughters next year. I have seen plenty of younger kids completing it and really enjoying it. Well worth your time and money.
Dana T — Google review
Very nice canyon, ladders, waterfalls, nice hikes and beautiful scenery. Very famous in the area. It is difficult to find a parking on the street, you need to park in one of the parking lots for a fee (Lei 20-25). Entrance fee to the 7 ladders in only Lei 25 per person. The zip lines however are optional, and charged separately. We went on a weekend (Saturday), there was a long line and it took us over 30 minutes to start the 7 ladders. But, it was worth it. Recommended.
Dr. S — Google review
This is a good day out if your up for an adventure, definitely not for the faint hearted, it's quite a long walk up to the canyon, and once you start climbing the ladders you can't turn back, I didn't feel that safe but just clung on tight 😂, after the ladders the path is quite tricky in parts as there is no clear route and trees have come down in places meaning we had to walk in the stream, and up tree roots, but it definitely got our adrenaline pumping. Wouldn't recommend it for children under 12 years
Emma — Google review
The nature, trail, and stairs are wonderful. It takes about 2-3 hours round trip for casual hikers. Some parts of the trail can be a bit challenging, and the stairs can be slippery. Proper hiking shoes and plenty of drinking water are a must. There is not even a single trash bin along the trail — not even at the ticket point for the zipline and stair access (yes, there is a fee: 20 RON for adults / 10 RON for children, ONLY CASH). ⚠️ Important: after the stairs, the return is not on the same path — be sure to follow the other marked sign!
Burghelea O — Google review
The upper road with the ladders are fun. For the scenery it’s kind of sammy type of trees and quite dark. Great view on the top and welcomed by home pet fox and donkeys. Overall a very nice hiking experience. It’s a medium difficulty hike. Be prepared for steep climbing and wear good gear of boots.
Simba Q — Google review
Great hike leading up to the Seven Ladders experience! The trail takes you through amazing nature, with the sound of running water adding a peaceful touch along the way. From the car park to the ticket office is about 3 km (≈1 hour) of steady uphill hiking, with an elevation gain of around 200–300 m. The canyon section itself (climbing the ladders and looping back to the ticket office) is about 2 km, with an elevation gain of roughly 60 m. In total, the round trip from car park → canyon → back to the car park is about 7–8 km, with a combined elevation gain of around 450–500 m. Do keep in mind this is a proper hike, not just a casual walk, so wear hiking shoes with good grip. There are no food or coffee options available on the trail, so bring your own snacks or a picnic. We went on a weekday and had no waiting time, which was perfect. The only downside was that the zip line wasn’t running on weekdays — it would have made the experience even more fun. Overall, highly recommended for anyone who enjoys hiking and nature adventures!

A Must-Do Family Adventure near Brașov! We recently took our kids (ages 6 and 12) to the Seven Ladders Canyon, and it was the highlight of our trip! While it was a bit of a trek to get to the canyon's entrance—a quite long but pleasant walk through the forest—the anticipation made it even more exciting. And let me tell you, it was absolutely worth it! Once we got to the canyon, the real fun began. Climbing the ladders was a unique experience for the whole family. The kids were so brave and had a blast navigating the ladders, waterfalls, and narrow passages. It felt like a real-life obstacle course, and the sights were just incredible. If you have adventurous kids and are looking for a fun day trip from Brașov, this is it. The combination of a beautiful walk and the thrilling climb through the canyon makes for an unforgettable family memory. Highly, highly recommend!

Loved this place! The hike was really great, so quite and scenic, lots of great places to take photos and simply enjoy being in nature. All the waterfalls were soothing and beautiful. It was just a great day. The paths are clearly marked and despite my irrational worries there were no bears on the hike! Even the drive was beautiful.

Truly Unforgettable Experiences Thanks to eTours & Vlad My partner and I went on three trips with eTours and had Vlad as the tour guide for all of them; wild bear watching, horse riding, and the castles trip. Vlad is an excellent guide, not only incredibly knowledgeable but also so personable and helpful. Fantastic communication/organisation throughout the booking process & organising pick-ups etc. He's passionate about sharing the history and culture of Romania, so every stop on our itineraries was brought to life with engaging stories and facts, making the trips unforgettable. We particularly enjoyed learning about Romania's brown Eurasian bears, and spotting seven bears in a hideaway deep in the forest - feeling super safe the whole time! We would 100% recommend eTours if you're planning a visit to Romania. Our tours exceeded all expectations, and a huge part of that is thanks to Vlad, we can't thank him enough!!

We had a wonderful day tour planned by eTours. Vlad had great communication with me prior to our day, and was very accommodating to my requests for customization. We spent the day with Ariana - a very bright young lady who was extremely knowledgeable about the history of the sights we visited, and was great at engaging in conversation with us about Romania and the culture. She set the bar very high for the rest of our time in Romania. I highly recommend using eTours for a great experience.

Yesterday was one of the best experiences I have had, going to see bears in their natural habitat. I was worried I wouldn't see any but I saw some straight away. Three females and 2 young males. Vlad had excellent communication ahead of the trip, collected us in a very comfy and clean 9 seater mini bus. Then we went up to the hide, where we were met with the ranger. In the journey he talked about the bears and the wider community. He lent us binoculars and was informative all the way through, as well as took a picture of us (obviously with the flash off). We felt safe and well looked after. Highly recommend.

We went on the horseback riding and the tour of a fortified church with Vlad and it was amazing! Vlad was very knowledgeable on the local history of the area and could answer any questions we had. He was very friendly and easy to talk to as well as picking us up from where we chose and took us home after the tour. As total beginners at horseback riding, Vlad taught us some of the basics so that we could enjoy ourselves safely. The horseback riding was an unforgettable experience and has made us want to learn how to ride horse back home. Vlad also recommended other places we could visit, activities we could do, the best local restaurants to eat at, as well as a tour of Brasov with a local guide, Radu, who was also lovely and did an amazing job and equally gave us some brilliant food recommendations. They both set a very high bar for any future tours, would highly recommend to anyone. Thanks again Tom & Vi

Vlad was an incredible guide for our hiking, walking and sightseeing trip today. He is approachable, very knowledgeable and speaks extremely good English. I would recommend Vlad to anyone wanting to travel in and around Braşov.

The Ethnographic Museum of Săcele, located on the western side of Piata Sfatului, is an intimate memorial museum honoring the Muresan family. The museum showcases the life and crafts of local people through donated authentic pieces. Visitors can easily access it from the main road leading to Cheia and enjoy a welcoming atmosphere with knowledgeable staff. Additionally, families can take advantage of a special ticket system valid for multiple museums in the county, making it a great location for all ages.
One of the most beautiful ethnographic museums, subordinated to the Ethnographic Museum in Brasov. It is very small, very well maintained. The only museographer, a dedicated lady, wants only that the people come to see. Especially because the ticket price is more of a joke, 15 lei, that's about 2.5 euros. The area is very ethnographic and folklore rich. It is easy to reach Brasov, even by bus, which runs very well.

Amazing experience! We showed up half an hour before closing time, but were still allowed in because we had a flight the next day and couldn't visit otherwise. The man gave us a short tour, passionately rushing through the many things he wanted to share with us. He was excited, had a lot to say, was passionate, spoke English well and was very kind. The museum has a nice collection that brought his stories to life. He seemed disappointed to not have more time for us upon closing time. On top of being a great tour guide, the man offered us a ride when he saw us waiting outside of the gate afterwards. Very heartwarming. The museum is not yet easily wheelchair accessible (not a problem, he carried me in and out), but likely will be in a year or so.

(Translated by Google) Attention Spaniards 🇪🇸👇🏻 ✅ Positive aspects: It's one of the old entrances to the city and is right next to Catherine Gate, so it's very easy to see both in one visit. It has a more sober and monumental design, with its stone arches and a classical feel that contrasts with other areas of Brasov. It's interesting for its historical context: it marked the boundary between the Saxon city and the Șchei neighborhood, where the Romanian population lived. ❌ Negative aspects: It's a quick visit without much information. If you don't know what you're looking at, it can go unnoticed. It would have been great if there were more signage or an explanatory panel that would better explain its history. 🌐 Overall rating: An interesting spot to better understand the history of Brasov and how the city was divided in the past. If you're touring the Old Town, it's worth stopping for a few minutes. It's not spectacular, but it is a key piece of the city's past.

While it's uncertain if Bram Stoker drew inspiration from this castle, it offers an entertaining experience with rooms dedicated to Transylvania's famous count and Queen Marie's Tea House. Visitors can even ride a glass elevator that replicates Dracula's escape route. The location is convenient, close to various attractions and the pedestrian area.
We stayed at this wonderful place for just one night, but it was so comfortable and well-equipped that we could have easily extended our stay for a whole week. The accommodation offers everything you could possibly need, including a fully equipped kitchen, a spacious bedroom, a lovely bathroom, and a generous living room. Tampa Cable Car in Brasov offers a quick and convenient way to reach the forested peak of Mt. Tâmpa, providing stunning panoramic views of the city below. The iconic Brasov sign on the mountain is a popular photo spot visible from various points in town. While some visitors note limited tourist facilities at the top, others appreciate the natural and serene environment.
Very cool experience. We went on a weekday and there were no long lines. We hopped on the cable car almost immediately. The views from the top were very interesting, spanning the vista of Brasov beneath. Not much of tourist infrastructure at the top, but that's actually a good thing because it just looks more green and relaxing. You essentially go up, do your viewing and come down. Not much to it but the price is low and it doesn't take long. Definitely recommend for a quick activity.

There was really big queue to up and down. In the up you need to go some time to see all city. In the same time, you fell good when made this trip)So, if you’ll be in Braşov, you need to visit it and try cable cap)

The cable car station is a short walk from Brasov old town with some uphill walking and has stairs. There's a longer way that's a nice walk. The station is modern and the tickets can be bought with cash or credit card. The car itself is also modern and there's a worker who rides with passengers. Once you're at the top, there's a short hike on an unpaved trail with some terrain to the lookout platform that's next to the Brasov sign. It's very picturesque. There's a really nice looking restaurant, vending machines, and bathrooms. Outside of those, there aren't much in the way of services or seating to pass time.

I would suggest cable car up then walk down to get a decent view as there is no viewing platform at the top that we could find, other than paying to eat at the restaurant. Even with no leaves on the trees, the view from up near the flagpole was restricted. Very disappointing 😞
Monique B — Google review
Excellent. Managed to turn up 2 seconds after a huge group of 60/70 kids decided to go up. Didn’t have to wait long before the queue disappeared. Renovations have worked. Very efficient.

The cable car is not operational on weekdays at the moment due to maintenance work. You can walk to the Brasov sign at the peak along a scenic but rather rugged trail, which takes around an hour if you are moderately fit. There is a small cafe at the top which was also closed. There are three different trails you can do, the red triangle trail starts at the stairs next to the cable car. The trail was described as easy but I don’t agree, it is more a moderate level walk as most of the trail is quite rocky

Coresi Shopping Center, located in Brasov, Romania, is a modern commercial hub that offers a wide range of shopping options, dining experiences, and entertainment venues. Situated on the former Tractorul factory grounds in the northwestern part of the city, this expansive center has become a popular destination for both locals and tourists. With an array of shops featuring international and local brands, fast-food eateries, restaurants, and even a movie theater, it caters to diverse tastes.
I absolutely love this mall, it looks huge but is not that big, still they tried to make it pleasant for the locals and tourists. It even have a bank or a train to ride with your child
UNIVERSAL A — Google review
Coresi Shopping Center – Solid Spot for Shopping and Hanging Out Coresi is a big, clean mall with plenty of stores and places to eat. It’s a good place to shop if you want variety without the chaos of a city center. The vibe is relaxed, and it’s easy to spend a few hours here. Not the flashiest mall, but it gets the job done.
Eugen ( — Google review
A lovely shopping centre, clean, great shops with a great area for the kids to play in! Video is inside the cinema which is lovely too! Awesome hanging aeroplane in the lobby before you go into the cinema - look up!
Robert K — Google review
Coresi Shopping Center is exactly what you’d expect from a modern mall — bright, spacious, and full of variety. The food court is impressively large, with all the familiar food brands you usually find in malls. There’s also a wide selection of clothing stores, home goods shops, a cinema, and even an Auchan hypermarket — basically, everything you might need in one place. What I appreciated most were the terraces — they’re spotless and perfect for sunny days, offering a nice place to sit and relax after shopping. On the downside, almost all the food options (except for one place) serve highly processed and fried food. It’s not the healthiest selection, especially considering how many children eat there. Still, Coresi remains a great spot for shopping, watching a movie, or spending a few hours with family or friends — clean, well-maintained, and lively.

The biggest commercial center in Brasov. Huge parking lot, huge supermarket, huge food court … huge everything. Events and concerts are also happening here.
Armand G — Google review
Not as big or fancy as some of the other malls in Brasov but it has everything we need. There is a giant Carrefour market, one of the bigger ones I've seen. It also has a couple of small coffee shops for snacks and clothing and big sports store.

The splash pad needs an anti slip floor, its super duper slippery and kids can hurt themselves, saw a few slipping and almost hitting their head. There is no sign of being cautious around. Could end up badly with a hurt child and a law suit

Great, it also has a big dining area inside and outside with a lot of restaurant choices, from Italian to fast food. It also has a good selection of fashion brands to shop from.

The Tales of Communism Museum (MAdC) in Bucharest, Romania, is a captivating museum that provides a unique insight into the country's communist history. Housed in a neo-baroque building dating back to 1902, the museum showcases artifacts, photographs, and personal stories that offer a poignant portrayal of life under the totalitarian regime. Visitors are transported back in time through carefully curated exhibits and immersive settings that vividly depict the experiences of ordinary people during this period.
Amazing museum with lots of information and examples, objects from the communism period, stories, people. Loved it. Very nice made. Definitely going back there with my parents and also buying something from the cafetiera, they really have what's on the menu.
Iordache C — Google review
Highly recommend this museum, definitely one of the best ones I've visited, perhaps because it was nostalgic but also because it was very informative. All the displays were arranged with care and great detail, the stories were fascinating and the fact that it was interactive added another level of engagement. It was great to be able to take lots of pictures for my parents who have not been back in the country since the revolution. Thank you for putting these memories and artefacts together 😊.

It was amazing! I really loved the stories with their bittersweet taste and how you could really get a closer view to how it was like to live in Romania in those times. I couldn’t stop reading all the stories and it took me a bit over one hour and a half to visit it, until they closed :))
Catalina B — Google review
A remarkable experience. They could have easily fallen in the nostalgia trap, but no — the things in the museum indeed tell tales. They provide vital context as to how it really was like to live in Socialist Romania, at times in harrowing detail. Everything can be touched and opened, TVs work, radios play music, you're welcome to sit down and take a photo — it really takes you back and makes you happy that it's just a flashback. Not to be missed
Didzis V — Google review
I stumbled across this museum, and was so glad I did. It gives a lot of insight into what life was like in Ceausescu's Romania (I worked there sometimes in the 1970s). This small museum reminded me of the GDR and Checkpoint Charlie musuems in Berlin, and the 3rd Man Museum in Vienna - small but full of interesting objects and stories. Very well worth visiting.
Dominic D — Google review
This place is well worth visiting with very friendly service and information from the lady at the ticket desk. It is also a social enterprise supporting child education. The museum is thoughtfully laid out with examples of furniture and home, work and family life during the communist era in Romania. The collection of everyday items, children's toys and personal experiences are beautifully and thoughtfully displayed. Written personal accounts from those who experienced the difficulties of oppression are displayed throughout the museum and are poignant, heart warming, heart breaking and inspirational in remembrance and respect. An enlightening, confronting and essential initiative to educate on the mindless, inhumane, selfish greed and tyranny of dictatorship. Absolutely futile! Thank you for the opportunity to visit and kudos to the administration of this very important museum 🙏
Rina G — Google review
loved the atmosphere, everything is so well preserved and I like how we could interact with the rooms (could read the books, open some of the cabinets that had other objects inside, etc.) the person at the cash register was nice and explained what is allowed and what not, in one of the rooms was a documentary screening on the social/economical/political state of the population in one of communism's periods. gladly recommend it, spent around an hour, but the more u stay the more things u discover!

It's an absolute wonder! Learning about the reality of Ceaușescu and communism in România through the exhibits, stories, TV documentaries and actual objects it's so...real. It's like opening the window and glancing at a frozen and communist apartment. Touching and opening of drawers, doors etc., it's encouraged. The museum organises social events too every week for anyone staying in Brașov and looking for friends.

Catherine Gate, also known as eCatherinas Gate, is a historic landmark in Brasov, Romania. It is one of the oldest gates in the city and is situated under a picturesque tower that was once part of a larger structure. During the Saxon rule, this gate served as the only entrance for Romanians into the fortified city, albeit at specific times and for a toll. Nearby, visitors can find an orthodox church and the first Romanian-language school which became an important cultural center.
Catherine’s Gate is extremely picturesque. Would have to agree with others the graffiti was a little bit of a let down, especially in the tunnel.
Chris R — Google review
Catherine's Gate is a historic monument located at one of the entrances to Rattenfänger von Hameln Park, impressing visitors with its well-preserved Gothic architecture. It is a beautiful tourist attraction, admired for its unique style, though it would be appreciated if the graffiti inside the gate were removed to maintain its authentic charm.
Stef A — Google review
Fascinating to witness the cities growth, fall and development over the centuries. The architecture and height, or lack thereof, is a simple testament to these changes. It's a great city of contrasts!
Jean K — Google review
Nothing special. One of the fortified gates of the old city. It's nice, but the interior cannot be visited. It can be used as a landmark: if you are strolling through the historical center of Brasov and you have arrived here, it means you have reached the end; you can go back the way you came, or you can go left to reach the Weavers' Bastion (and the fortifications at the foot of Tampa) or go right to visit the fortifications on the north side of the old city.

Catherine’s Gate in Brașov is a delightful piece of history that transports you back in time. This well-preserved medieval gate is beautifully adorned and offers a glimpse into the city’s past. Sergiana, located in the heart of Brasov's old town, is a top restaurant offering an authentic Transylvanian culinary experience. The warm atmosphere and hospitable staff dressed in folk costumes create a charming ambiance. The menu features traditional dishes served in three languages: Saxon, Hungarian, and Romanian. Using old recipes and fresh ingredients from their own farms, Sergiana brings the charm and traditional taste of Transylvania to the historic center of Brasov.
I had dinner here based on the reviews. They didn’t disappoint. Food: 5/5 Once you sit down, they brought you complimentary bread and a deep fried pork skin and meat crunchy starter. I had the mushroom and bacon stuffed pork schnitzel which wasn’t dry and tasty. They could have added more mushroom. Their portions are on the big side as I ended up taking the extras. Their menu is extensive but not many choices for vegetarians and vegans. Service: 4/5 server was friendly and made a good recommendation of the traditional potatoes. Atmosphere: 5/5 the restaurant is located downstairs which I felt I was dining in an old brick tavern. Nice and cosy feel to the place. They can fit large parties to just one person.

The best restaurant if you're looking for authentic romanian dishes and dining experience. ✅Location: Cozy and clean. 👌Food: I would go back and recommend this restaurant. The Ciorba de burta did not disappoint, even the complimentary jumari with onion, tasted good. Our main course were ciolan with beans and ciolan with cabbage, which both tasted well. The pork is tender, juicy, and hit the right spot of not being too salty and not bland. I would say I liked the beans more. The freshly pressed apple juice matched our entire meal. The serving was generous and we had a few leftovers for takeway.😊 💯Service: We arrived at the restaurant during dinner without a reservation, and we were treated great. We didn't have to wait long for the food to be served. I would say they're very attentive. Overall, a really great dining experience.

We were sooo excited to try this placed based on two recommendations, but it was such a disappointment I’m afraid. The stuffed chicken schnitzel with bacon was bone dry and my son couldn’t even finish it (he is not fussy and loves food), the sarmale was nothing special and was left unfinished too. My vegetarian stewed mushrooms with polenta was pleasant enough but had no wow factor. Our waitress seemed stressed and hurried (it was busy) and to top it off we had some weird residue at the bottom of our wine glasses .. yuck! The manager kindly refunded us for the wine but the whole experience was super disappointing after high expectations. We didn’t stay for dessert and took our business elsewhere. Very nice decor and atmosphere and some friendly staff, but sadly not worth the hype.
Cherry K — Google review
Upon entering, the host accurately told us it would be a 15 minute wait. After being seated, we stated to our waiter, we ONLY want dessert, he treated us with the the same respect as if we had a 4 course meal. We had the Papanasi (which our waiter predicted). He brought us bread and dried meat and stated "it is on the house" The papanasi was cooked to perfection and just a hint of crispness (just how I like it). The local red berries and sour cream were in good proportions.
Andrew U — Google review
Had a really nice meal here. The mains are delicious! I had the wild boar and would definitely recommend it. We had ice-cream for dessert but it wasn’t good. Tasted like store bought frozen ice-cream, so if you want a dessert I wouldn’t choose ice-cream. The service was ok but the vibes were great.

The food is good, the waiters are ok. You have to make a reservation, there is always a queue if you come without a reservation. The place looks nice, traditional.

A traditional Romanian restaurant with cheerful staff. The food is OK -- meat was tasty but with heavy cream sauces and flavorless simply grilled veggies. The decor is very nice, with its vaulted arched ceilings. They also gifted us a fatty pork appetizer served with raw red onions. I loved my chicken soup.

If we include the location, ambience and food, then the first place goes to Sub Tâmpa. The food was good – only desert didn't give us a lot of pleasure (Negresa with caramel sauce), but what we ate in the same way (muscle of lamb & strips of pork belly cooked slowly) was very good. The beautiful beetroot with caramelized onion was also ok – however large portions from the appetizer menu.
Nice place. We ordered the bear meat burger, the trout, zander and the "cozonac" pudding. All were very good. The burger was similar to a beef one, but I was curious and wanted to tick this box. The dessert I would highly recommend. The service is very good.
Razvan B — Google review
The place is a great area near and surrounded by trees green obviously during the summer. Menu is not too big, but I consider accurate and appropriate for a small or big time. Restaurant Inside offers you table for small and big groups. Also gives you the chance if it’s sunny to have a table outside. I can see a great location if you are looking for a small walk and to have some activities in the park in order to end with a pleasant time with food. Kids, friendly, Iqos friendly, haven’t seen a dog inside. Prices are fair, for instance, one pasta costs eight euros, but there are other dishes which are around 20 €. In general terms, I recommended.

Visited Sub Tampa in Brașov and enjoyed the duck confit. The sauce and plating stood out, though the meat could be more tender. Ambiance is cozy and well-styled. Staff were attentive and helpful. The butter chicken and rice dish didn’t impress, but the overall experience is solid.

Out of all restaurants we’ve tried on our week-long stay in Romania - this is indisputably the best one out there. The food was delicious, the atmosphere of the location is awesome and the prices are great. We also found great vegetarian options which we highly recommend.
Igo — Google review
Had to give this place 1 star because of the service. The food was amazing but the service made the experience terrible. We had to wait over 15 min after sitting down for someone to come and get the order. Food arrived in normal time and it was one of the best we had . At the end, we waited with empty plates for over 20 minutes without anyone coming to our table to see if we want anything else or dessert. In the end I had to go after the staff ( they were ALL staying in on corner chatting and laughing) to ask for the bill. It was the first time we didn’t leave a tip and was the first time I give such a low rating. Shame because it is such a wonderful location and food!
Andreea S — Google review
Cosy atmosphere and classic restaurant service! Started our dinner outside on the terrace and then we moved inside. 'Carne la graniță' would be a dish to try with a delicious taste.
Curro L — Google review
I had trout with polenta and garlic sauce. The trout was frozen, the sauce wasn't authentic if was mixed with some mayonnaise. I didn't like the menu when I saw it. It has lots of "fancy & reinterpreted options" but they are not tasty because ingredients aren't high quality and because they reinterpret usual Romanian dishes and just ruin them. I would have preferred just a fresh trout fried in flour and usual Romanian "mujdei". I choose this plate because it seemed quite simple to make any complications to the ingredients and gave it ruined just by Tring to make a dish more fancy. Well I was wrong. Inside it is very nice looking and outside it is next to the forest so it is not hot. This is why I would rate it as 4 starts, regarding food... Not reccomended for Romanians, not recommended for foreigners, it is not authentic.

The "Șchei" Gate, completed in 1828, is a stunning example of classical architecture featuring three archways designed to facilitate both pedestrian and vehicular traffic. While it may not be the most famous attraction in Brașov, taking a moment to stroll through this historic gate allows you to appreciate its beautifully domed ceiling up close. Its proximity to other notable sites makes it a worthwhile stop during your exploration of the city.
On a recent trip to Sighisoara i stopped in Brasov only to eat at this restaurant again. I don`t know why has so few reviews, because it is simply exceptional and far beyond everything in Brasov. I stopped by to inform about the transilvania tourist card I red about to visit the fortified churches, but the lady at the counter had no clue, she thought it didn't exist anymore but she wasn't sure. She wanted to send me to the ticket office of the black church, where I came from after informing there. I just felt that everybody was sending me away. No help at all. Even rude, like stating it wasn't her problem...

Grim. Two miserable employees who greeted us with nothing more than a filthy look and gave a kind of comically (and very unrepresentative) bad impression of Brasov. Poor information, badly presented. Great if you want to see postcards of other cities like Paris or London as these take up much of the display :D There are some useful hiking maps if your prepared to ignore the glares and rummage for yourself.

Didn’t look open from outside and not very noticeable. Entry at the front of the beautiful Building. Lots of brochures and the lady is helpful. My friend and I went there because we desperately needed to print our bus tickets (the bus company doesn't accept the ticket downloaded on your phone) and due to being Sunday, everything was close. We kindly asked to print them there (it was one page only) and the lady refused! Having no work to do and the printer behind her.. Instead, she sent me to a hotel to ask for the print. Unbelievable! Show a bit of empathy.. It can happen to you too... Disappointing!

The Fortified Evangelical Church Harman, located in the village of Harman, Transylvania, is a medieval church dating back to the 13th century. Built by Saxons, it is surrounded by strong walls and seven imposing towers, giving it a castle-like appearance. The church served as a fortification for defense against enemy attacks. Visitors can explore its history and enjoy the picturesque village surroundings easily accessible by train or bus.
An absolute gem, we loved seeing it! It stands as a real piece of history and it is great learning about the local history and how it helped the community. We love that they take care of the stray kitties as well - they have over 18 and we can see that they are cat lovers ☺️🐈 It really makes you feel like you are part of a book which is set many centuries before. It is quite and adventure to climb the tower but very nice as well! The guide is also a very nice person who can tell you many interesting stories. A place which you will remember forever!

People are very friendly and would help you in any way they can. If you also get there during the festival, this year's edition (2025) was a very nice experience with a lot of events and activities that children would enjoy.

Very good place. The staff is professional, we arrived with 3 kids , 4,8,11, The people were very nice, the place is interesting with playground for the kids, horses and cute dogs around. The places to sleep seems lovely, we didn’t know before. Very recommended. We took 1 pony and 3 horses, 30 minutes trip with each horse has a walker
Adam C — Google review
We were two families with kids, came specially for horse riding. The staff are friendly, owner speaks excellent English and explained everything. The tours were "guided" - meaning a person holds the horse and walks all the way with it, so the "speed and distance" matched the walking speed of the guide... Kids enjoyed it but I think it's not worth it. The ride is WAY too expensive and other than 15 minutes of a very expensive "walk" in the nice forest, the children didn't actually experience horse riding. Calling this "horse riding" is quite a stretch when your child is basically just sitting on a horse that's being led around like a pony at a birthday party. Save your money unless you're desperate to see your kid on a horse for a few Instagram photos.

What a wonderful place for horseback riding! Very impressed with the whole place, from the beauty of the surrounding area, the people working there, the horses! Very well managed, very organized, it was a great experience! We will definitely return to try the cabins too! And, of course, the beautiful horses! What a pleasant experience!

We stayed here overnight with a group of children. Unfortunately, our guide didn’t arrange dinner for us and just dropped us off to check in before leaving — so we suddenly had 20 hungry kids! A huge thank you to the amazing girl at the reception, Irina. She helped us so much — she managed to order pizza for us at 9 p.m., which seemed impossible at that hour. She even called to check if we had received everything. Without her help, we honestly wouldn’t have managed. In the morning, we had a very delicious breakfast. The place itself is stunning — peaceful and beautiful, the perfect escape from the hustle and bustle. There are lovely horses, dogs, and cats on the property, which the kids adored. If I ever return to this city, I will definitely stay here again. Thank you for saving our trip! You are absolutely amazing!

I highly recommend the Poiana Brasov Horse Riding Center in Romania! This fantastic center offers an unforgettable experience for all ages, with well-cared-for horses, including Lipizzaner and Friesian breeds, and adorable ponies for kids. The scenic trails through surrounding forests and fields provide a perfect connection with nature, and the professional, friendly staff ensures a safe and enjoyable ride. Whether you’re a beginner or an experienced rider, you can enjoy riding lessons, guided trail rides, or charming carriage trips. Solomon's Rocks, located just an hour away from Brasov by car, train, or bus, is a fantastic destination for hiking in the Piatra Craiului Mountains. The area boasts stunning limestone rocks, glacial lakes, and charming mountain towns. Accessible by foot through picturesque villages or by city bus, it offers refreshing forest air and scenic trails. While the trails are poorly marked, reaching the mountaintop rewards hikers with breathtaking views and beautiful woodlands.
Great place with many possibilities to grill and relax. Lots of benches, with a tiny creek in between. Recommended.

True beauty with a side of picnic and BBQ infrastructure. Haven't hiked it really, but it's the best spot to go and grill. You may see some weird teenagers if you go during working hours though.

Built in the 15th century, this restored 11-m. tower with a glass roof houses a weapon exhibit.
Worth the Climb, Even in the Snow! Visiting the Black Tower in winter was an amazing experience. The climb was a bit challenging with all the snow, but it was absolutely worth it. The view from the top, with Brașov covered in white, was simply breathtaking. The tower itself is interesting, with some historical exhibits inside. If you’re in Brașov, don’t miss it—even in the snow, it’s a great experience!
Laura A — Google review
Great views and totally free tower that allows you amazing views of Brasov!
Laura F — Google review
Turnul Negru in Brașov is worth the short uphill walk for its sweeping view of the old town and Tampa mountain. You can’t enter the tower, but the lookout makes a great photo spot
Noel M — Google review
The tower was indeed restored, but after it was struck by lightning years ago, the brilliant minds in charge decided the best solution was to replace the old roof with a modern one that matches the historical architecture like a square peg in a round hole. The tower should, in theory, be open to the public, and, according to the official fairytale, there should be a small museum or exhibition inside. In practice? It’s closed all the time. So, instead of exhibits of historical value, tourists can enjoy the “art” of contemporary vandals, since no one seems interested in removing the graffiti. Truly visionary cultural management. The only redeeming factor is that, after a pleasant walk along the hillside paths, you can at least admire the historical buildings of Brașov. And since you’re already here, don’t miss the second masterpiece of disappointment in the area: the White Tower. P.S. It’s called the Black Tower because, during the great fire of 1689, its walls turned black. Now they’re gray, not black, but let’s not expect the authorities to put up a simple explanatory plaque. Why bother with clarity when you can let tourists remain forever puzzled?
Catalin H — Google review
Great vantage point of Old Town Brasov. Easier climb to get to the Black Tower as compared to the White Tower. Able to see the areas associated with the medieval German settlers and the native Transylvanian community.
Aaron N — Google review
Ignoring the ugly new addition of the glass roof, this tower offers a spectacular view of the city. The best one, in my opinion, as your proximity to the black church creates a post card-worthy photo. Just a 5 minute walk up a hill. Completely free.
John W — Google review
Cant go up the tower but doesnt matter, because the city view is still very beautiful just below the tower. A small hike is needed, but definetely worth the view, and it only takes 4-5 minutes to go up.

The Muzeul Civilizației Urbane is a museum located in a Renaissance palace dating back to the 1500s that provides an exploration of several centuries of Brașov's history and culture. It stands out from other museums as it has knowledgeable and passionate staff who offer unique insights into history. Additionally, they organise themed events that integrate local cuisine and drinks with historical perspectives.
We didn’t plan to visit this museum. We pass by and enter. The museum proved to be a treasure ❤️. Staff very friendly and polite. A lot of interesting things to see. My son didn’t get bored. We could to a lot of pictures. Tickets price are cheep. Recommend!

This place tells the history of commerce in Brasov. It is well kept with good lighting, a comfortable atmosphere and nice exhibits. However, a lot of the artefacts do not have much description, and the audio guide (at least in English) is robotic and hard to listen to. I paid 20 lei to enter and took about 30 minutes to complete.
Joel — Google review
Amazing place that holds parts of history about Brașov's city civilization. Like any other museum you get a glimpse from the town's history but what makes this place different are the people within it. They are passionate about history, and they love to share their knowledge and give you a new view over history. Besides that, they organise different themed events, that connects history with local cuisine and drinks. Definitely worth a visit!
Corina C — Google review
This is one of the newer museums in the city and the concept and curation are exemplary, on a par with similar museums from places such as Krakow or Prague. However, this being Romania there are things where they fall short. First of all, there is a ridiculous photo surcharge that is not worth paying for what you get to experience overall. Second, the descriptions of the items and the rooms are mixed and at points lacking. Third, the audio guide tedious and at times inaccurate. It's a pity that they seem to be more interested in milking money than offering a pleasant and informative museum experience. That being said and while the museum is small it still remains probably the best in Brasov.

Muzeul de Etnografie is a small yet outstanding museum dedicated to showcasing the history of textiles and the evolution of the local industry. The museum features two halls, one of which appears to be recently renovated or added. While most information is presented in Romanian, there are English guides available, and interactive displays such as picture screens and videos offer an engaging experience. Visitors can explore items depicting daily life in Old Romania and witness traditional crafts like a functioning loom that weaves trim.
This is an outstanding, small museum. Items of daily life in Old Romania. Some great films and AV aids. Astonishing is the loom which eaves trim. The director can start it and you can watch it make trim. A nice gift shop selection as well. No foreign languages for displays.

Cute little museum, the staff is very helpful even though very few materials are available in languages different than Romanian (and the app for the audio guide in EN needs fixing). All costumes and exhibits are in excellent condition, with vibrant colors and well cared for. I mostly went in to support a small local museum and found it well worth the time (between 0,5 and 1 hour) and money (2 EUR).

Wonderful little museum, the staff is visibly passionate about etnography and will excitedly answer any questions you may have, you'll see exhibits from the three major local cultures - romanian, hungarian and saxon (german) as well as comprehensive information on traditional and early industrial textile production methods. I wholeheartedly recommend visiting this museum if you're in the area.

Fantastic experience, once again. It made me think of my grandaunt, who was a theatre tailor in Vienna before the end of WW2, then she took her atelier to the countryside. I loved the fact that they recreated an old rug making facility (fantastic craftsmanship and construction- a pleasure to watch). If you are not Romanian, and also don't speak any Roman languages or German (I do, so it wasn't a big issue)- you WILL need the audio guide. Also, I recommend buying the museum pass. The art and communism museums are next door- I recommend to also see them. If you take the pass, you can then see the art museum for free.
Vitruvian ( — Google review
The museum is small but the exhibits are well laid out and in great condition. The focus is very much on the textile manufacture and clothing. What made this an excellent museum for me was the videos showing the various techniques for producing and working the textiles. What would make this a little better is some more contextual information about the culture outside of the textiles. A neat idea would be the ability to buy intro kits for some of the techniques (like cross stitch, embroidery etc). Could be great for the kids.

There are nice local products for sale as well, accessibly priced. I bought an original martisor for 10 lei.

The House of Mureșenilor Museum in Romania is a unique cultural and historical attraction that showcases the legacy of the prominent local Muresianu family. The museum features exhibits on the family's cultural and political history, including the contributions of Jacob Muresianu, a professor and founding editor of Gazeta Transilvaniei newspaper. What sets this museum apart is its innovative use of virtual reality to bring characters from the family's history to life, allowing visitors to hear their stories firsthand.
Very cool museum, lots to see in an otherwise quite small setting. We visited in the second week of August and also got to see a temporary exhibition. The staff was kind and helpful and they made sure our experience was top notch!

The temporary exhibition brought back memories from the Comunist period in Romania. You could see the supplies/stationers used in school since the "20s till the "80s. The House of Mureșenilor exhibition side was very nice presented by one of hosts. Every tiny thing in that house has a story and I enjoyed listening. Brașov has lots of good stories! If you feel like going there be nice with the ladies and don't laugh, the Comunism/Socialism is still present in our lives. Enjoy!

The House of Mureșenilor is a captivating museum that offers a deep dive into the history and culture of Brașov and its prominent Mureșianu family. The museum is housed in a beautifully preserved historic building, where each room tells a different chapter of the family's influence on Romanian culture and literature. The exhibits are thoughtfully arranged, showcasing personal belongings, manuscripts, and photographs that paint a vivid picture of 19th-century life. The interactive displays and well-informed guides add an engaging layer to the experience. It's a must-visit for history buffs and anyone interested in Romania's cultural heritage.

The house is quite modest from the outside but includes a surprise from the inside an exhibition of scholary materials, report cards, material released by the romanian pioneer organization and more. Sure all the material are in romanian but much of the material can be understood by some knowledge in any latin language. Three rooms of the house are dedicated to the achivments of the family that lived in the house and includes mainly old photographs and musical instrements. Their demonstration of the history of the music cassette s until the cd rom is intriging.

Really interesting concept, using VR to recreate certain characters from the family in order to let themselves tell their stories. I, for one, never encountered this in Romania until now. The museum includes remarkable works by some of the most notable artists in Romanian history. Unfortunately, though, it seems the staff is instructed to trail visitors on the second floor, likely for security reasons. It was intrusive to the point of minimal privacy and constant distraction, as they passed directly in front of you and tracked your movements and pace. That’s never happened to me in a museum before.

A dull museum. The temporary exhibition on Boros Lajos was interesting but the permanent exhibition lacked energy and any creativity in the way it was presented. Small regional museums must do things differently to their big city cousins if they are to be relevant to their community and travellers passing through.

Exceptional communication, fast delivery, good contact during the development of the project, attention to details, very good prices! Overall amazing experience, highly recommended!

Unfortunately i visited during a snowstorm so i couldn't do much but i give you that' Brasov is not very good place to go at winter (very big to walk around during cold days and misty). Also food is not so great but be sure to give a chance to local goulash soup cuz it's delicious!

Fortress
Historical landmark
The Fortress-on-Straja, originally constructed in the 15th century, served various purposes such as a lookout point, prison, and city archives. Although currently closed to the public, it remains fully intact on the inside with its original furniture. Despite its temporary closure, visitors can still enjoy a scenic walk to the fortress and admire panoramic views of Brasov from atop Straja Hill. The citadel is unfortunately in disrepair but offers a unique opportunity for outdoor exercise and exploration.
Straja Fortress has a square shape with corner bastions that provide beautiful views of both the old town and the modern areas of Brașov. Its location on Straja Hill makes it a popular attraction for tourists who love scenic viewpoints and panoramic landscapes.

4 stars since it's been decaying for a while. Otherwise, an awesome view from the top and still a beautiful area to walk around and see.

Medieval fort on a hilltop. Seems that you can only admire it from the outside as it is closed. Great views.

The Citadel, as it's known, is a medieval defence fortification, situated on top of a hill called Straja(which in Bulgarian means Guard). It was built as a defensive fort just outside the city walls in the 16th century. This 5000 sq.m. fortification has a square shape with Italian style bastions on each of its 4 corners. The main tower of the castle inside the walls has a horseshoe form. It's declared as a national monument of historical significance. Unfortunately it's closed for visitors, so you can only enjoy it from the outside.

Google maps said it was open, but the gate was chained, and appears to have been for some time. Still a nice view of the city and surrounding mountains.

This place is full of history. Too bad that City Council politicians (PNL and PSD) have obscure interests in keeping this historic monument a ruin. This is a medieval citadel overlooking the old German city of Kronstadt (actual name is Braşov). There is no need to buy tickets, the entry is free. I was lucky enough because few years ago there was no possibility to enter and enjoy the citadel. It seems that the actual mayor understood the turist value of this place and open it to the visitors. However, the place has to be restored to fully appreciate the beauty of it.

The Cetățuia Fortress on Straja Hill is currently closed to visitors, but it’s still worth the walk up. You can take a full walk around it — the view over Brașov is beautiful, and the area has a quiet charm. There’s a trail that goes up and down the hill, though I couldn’t quite figure it out this autumn; it seems a bit hidden or not well marked. Even so, it’s a lovely spot to spend some time. You can sit on the benches in front of the fortress, enjoy the sunshine, and take in the peaceful atmosphere — it’s surprisingly calm up there, just a few minutes from the city center.

3 stars for the outside look, and for what I know it's inside. But currently access inside seems to be restricted. Many peoples dissapointed, as on Google Maps it is marked as open.
