The Reading Museum, located in the town hall, offers a captivating journey through the history of Reading. From its origins as a small Saxon settlement to its current status as a bustling university town, the museum showcases an array of artifacts. Notable exhibits include Roman relics from nearby Calleva Atrebatum, remnants from Reading Abbey, and the UK's sole copy of the Bayeux Tapestry depicting the Norman conquest.
Well maintained, clean environment with clearly labeled showcases. The quality of the displays was beyond my expectations and there is no entry fee. Some of the items were breathtaking and the staff were all very friendly. Very happy we decided to stop by!

Very interesting galleries of historic in Reading's Victoria Town Hall. They are small but the best museums in Reading. It's efficient and nicely renovated. It offers an insight into the history and culture of the region, explore the famous Victoria copy of the Bayeux tapestry and Art Gallery. It is worth visiting for it museums, historic sites and outdoor spaces.
Annie V — Google review
Brilliant museum which is located in the Victorian town hall right in the town centre. This museum is popular for range of collection of artifacts, including replica of the Bayeux Tapestry, Roman artifacts, and exhibits on local history. There are 2 floors where first floor is dedicated to the Bayeux tapestry. Second floor is wide range from atrium, Green space to Silchester gallery. You can easily spend few hours here if you like history and culture. There is no entrance fee and it's one of the main highlight in Reading.
Prashant S — Google review
Great museum focusing on the history of Reading and the surrounding area. It also showcases the Victorian copy of the Bayeux tapestry. This is more than 70 metres long and takes up a whole floor. The museum is very clean, tidy, wheelchair friendly and has excellent facilities. Although entrance is free, a donation, in my view, should be considered mandatory.
Dave P — Google review
Lovely museum. Tapestry your tickets can be purchased in advance and would recommend doing so. A corner dedicated to the biscuits company is wonderful too.
IDA I — Google review
Brilliant museum with several floors of historical galleries! Really modern displays which are excellent for both adults & children! There is also a lift for those not wishing to walk upstairs! Behind the reception there is a well stocked gift shop with some great presents & souvenirs! The museum is less than 5 mins walk from Reading Train Station! From April to December 2025 there is a a Special Expo on the Top Floor - Madejski Gallery - on Digital Revolution! Recommended!
David P — Google review
The only replica Bayeux Tapestry is on show here, very well laid out and interesting. Quite noisy (in a good way?) with primary school kids visiting and working below the tapestry gallery- so be aware re time / day of visit?
Rob W — Google review
Excellent museum with many interesting collections. Has everything from ancient artefacts to WWI soldiers hard biscuit rations (yes, real ones, so hard they lasted a century!). The Bayeux Tapestry copy is really excellent and much longer than I expected, but the ending is a bit sad. Overall a very good and well turned out attraction for anyone who likes history, shops, cafes and tapestries, as it has them all.

Reading Abbey Ruins, founded in 1121 by Henry I, is a historic site with extant ruins that include gardens, a gateway, and a dormitory for pilgrims. The abbey was frequented by kings and other notable figures, particularly Henry III. However, it fell into ruin during the Dissolution of the Monasteries in 1538. Despite this, efforts have been made to preserve and restore the site.
So eery. So big. So mysterious. I loved it. I followed the signs not expecting anything overly exciting but I found this little gem. It's huge and standing amongst the ruined walls makes you feel small. Short but interesting experience!
Artur K — Google review
Very interesting and features lots of signs detailing which rooms used to be on the site and how monks used them. There is also a sign which plays music from the Canterbury tales. I found secret Shakespeare there too, so look out! Only downside was we found a rather bizarre group at the ruins, performing 'USA' chants and performing ritualistic dances. Definitely somewhere to visit if you happen to be passing by. Also, there's an Oscar Wilde gate leading to the ruins which is a boon.
Sam — Google review
One of the main highlight in Reading and definitely worth a visit if you are in Reading. It was damaged and closed for many years. It's been heavily restored and well maintained since open. You would get to know detailed information about it's history with informative displays board dotted around. Not much left now except walls, and gates. You won't enjoy it if you don't like history and expecting architectural buildings. It's in walkable distance to the town centre and free of charge.
Prashant S — Google review
One of the best historical places to visit in Reading . Very well maintained and managed by the reading council. A must visit for all the visitors and new comers to reading.
Abhimanyu S — Google review
It's all ruined. (It wasn't my fault!) Seriously, the information boards do a good job of explaining what went on here, how it evolved and who all was involved. Worth a visit for history or contemplation.
Mark F — Google review
Interesting historical structure that can be observed on a walk-through or at length. Amateur archaeologists and baby-buggies both frequent here. The site is free and open to the public.
Charles B — Google review
This was a beautiful part of the town. Really neat history and so cool to see what was preserved

Nice place within the Reading town are and you don't need to buy tickets. Lot of information is shared about the Abbey on when and how it was run at that time.

The Museum of English Rural Life, located at the University of Reading's London Road campus, is a treasure trove of artifacts related to farming and traditional food processing. Established in 1951, it underwent extensive refurbishment and reopened in 2016. The museum's galleries showcase over 250 years of English countryside history with displays featuring manual tools, clothing, ploughs, antique livestock portraits, carts, and various types of tractors.
So many details in the museum and the staff is so kind and friendly. I love this museum. I will come back again.
Eon Y — Google review
The Museum of English Rural Life in Reading is a hidden gem that's both educational and genuinely enjoyable for all ages. The exhibits are thoughtfully curated, offering a fascinating glimpse into the history of farming and rural life in England. It’s fun for kids, with plenty of interactive displays and hands-on activities that keep them engaged throughout the visit. One of the highlights is definitely the live chickens outside, a big hit with little ones and a charming touch that brings the rural theme to life. The staff are friendly, the space is well-maintained, and there’s a welcoming café on site. Highly recommended for families or anyone curious about the English countryside!
Ionut P — Google review
Really lovely museum. Entry is free (donation requested by signs only, no one put any pressure on us to donate). Interesting displays about traditional English rural life. Friendly and knowledgeable staff. Beautiful garden and a lovely café. Well worth a visit!
Unusual E — Google review
Decent free museum located in university of reading, it details "countryside" life from when horses were primarily used to the introduction of the combustion engine. It doesn't just talk about farming, it also covers life in the countryside, changing lifestyles, etc. It's a really dedicated museum as they have far more stuff than space to display. It could do with more activities that are kid friendly, but overall it was pretty interesting. There is a row of parking spaces directly adjoining the building, there are also spaces on the opposite side which you'll need a permit from the university. I walked from the Oracle, it took about 17 mins so if you're in the town centre it's not that far. Recommended.
Mister E — Google review
What a beautiful little gem of a museum! Helpful friendly staff.
Free S — Google review
Excellent museum with free entry. There were really interesting displays of farming history as well as special exhibitions of Biscuit Town and Ladybird books. The cafe was good with sandwiches and really lovely tea. The staff were really friendly and helpful. There was parking available at the front of the building, but signs saying a permit is required from the museum which no longer apply.
Geoff — Google review
Lovely welcome on arrival from a friendly team member. Lots to see given it's a free museum and it's an interesting look at the history of farming and rural life. Some interesting videos made in 1946 are available to watch and the Ladybird Books collection was a welcoming surprise. Recommended, really nicely done.
Julian W — Google review
I visited here on a Friday morning around 10am. I parked my motorcycle in the car park by the entrance. At the time I got there, both disabled bays were free and several regular parking bays were free too. Entry is free, although there is a sign requesting a suggested donation of £5 if you feel like it. The museum is fully accessible with an automatic entry door operated by a plunger. The main museum displays are at ground level with a disabled, multi use toilet available at the far end near the lift. The lift goes up one floor and was where Mums were taking their children. The main display was Wagon Walk;a large collection of restored wagons and carts dating from the 1700s up to the mid 1900s. There’s plenty of information available to read, but the display was a bit cramped and half wasn’t well lit either making it difficult to appreciate the finer points of the display. On the next section I came to were descriptions of the life and achievements of farmers and farm labourers, both at work and in the home. Here were displayed tractors, a threshing machine and an early Land Rover amongst others and artifacts used in rural life. The last section describes the work done in each season and includes descriptions of why they were done that way. Finally there is a comfortable coffee shop and gift shop by the entrance/exit and you may also go outside into the garden. Overall an interesting experience and worth a visit. Time spent was around 75 minutes.

Park
Forbury Gardens Park is a charming public park located near the former Reading Abbey. Originally used for military purposes, it was transformed into a public park in the 19th century. The centerpiece of the park is the striking Maiwand Lion monument, erected to honor fallen soldiers from the Battle of Maiwand. This Victorian pleasure garden offers a picturesque setting with historical significance and ample space for picnics and leisurely strolls.
Lovely park for a peaceful walk, especially under the winter sun. The gardens are well-maintained, and the iconic Maiwand Lion adds a touch of history. Perfect spot to relax or explore near the Abbey Ruins.
Patrick L — Google review
Well kept Victorian urban park, lots of places to sit, and lots of interesting plants especially towards the back of the gardens by the fountain. There is a cafe on site, and one public toilet (but I’m not sure if it’s open). There are toilets at the station and in local shops anyway. Keep an eye out for special events held in the gardens, especially food festivals on weekends.
Laura H — Google review
Really interesting learning about the ruins as well as enjoying the gardens. The weather also helped. Would recommend this hidden gem.

"Strolling through the serene Forbury Gardens in Reading, a perfect blend of history and nature. This beautiful Victorian garden, with its iconic Maiwand Lion statue, offers a peaceful escape in the heart of the city. A must-visit for anyone looking to unwind and soak in some local heritage. 📸
Kushal B — Google review
This is t a big park do it felt crowed on a hot day but it felt like a little gem right next door to Reading Abbey Ruins! The Victorian town gardens had ornamental gardens, a bandstand, beautiful trees, Abby gates, and a large stone cross. There is a kiosk for refreshments, and public toilets. My favourite aspect was the Maiwand Lion statue, which commemorates 328 members of the Royal Berkshire Regiment who died at the Battle of Maiwand in Afghan in 1880. I didn’t see any play facilities , other than a pool, but there were loads of children playing.
Mal333 — Google review
very nice small park right next to the abbey ruins
Lefteris K — Google review
Found near the centre of Reading, there's this square park. There's a little kiosk selling snacks and drinks.. A few benches. Fountains Beautiful statues. This park can also be the entrance to walk through to the Abbey ruins. It's not a massive park by any means, you can walk around it in 10 minutes. The park also has alot of history with educational plaques around. Nice to visit. The park can attract all sorts of people sitting on benches in the corners, so proceed with caution.
R J — Google review
Forbury Gardens is a delightful Victorian town garden. The gardens have a wall around which provides a peaceful atmosphere, it has the famous Mai wand lion statue, the gardens are wonderful for play , and the kiosk serves coffee, ice creams and light lunches.

Caversham Court Gardens is a charming public park located in the suburb of Caversham, offering a delightful blend of greenery and riverside views. The award-winning walled garden features year-round floral displays and well-kept lawns that extend to the banks of the River Thames. Visitors can enjoy refreshments at the open Tea Kiosk from March to October while taking in the picturesque scenery.
A great garden and river path to spend some quality time with friends, family, and kids.
Akshay K — Google review
We walked from Reading to Cavershsm, partially along the River Thames to this beautiful riverside setting. The grounds are stunning, no wonder a couple chose it for their wedding reception. Do nothing, hang out with friends, stroll or have a picnic. We chatted around a table with tea and cake brought from a kiosk run by the Women’s Institute. Gorgeous cake! Check out the events coming up: church fete, dog show, theatre, and tours!
Mal333 — Google review
The small cafe is very good. The problem they have closed the entrance from the church and we had to walk by a parallel road, one can not use the pedestrian side because it is narrow and covered with brambles, my dog did not wanted to move. This is how dangerous it was. With the traffic it was a nightmare.
Maria M — Google review
This is a great place to visit in Caversham to relax and learn about the regions history Caversham Court Gardens is located in Caversham, UK directly north across the bridge from Reading on the north side of the River Thames. It is a delightful gem that seamlessly combines history, natural beauty, and tranquility. This riverside oasis offers a serene escape from the bustle of urban life, making it a perfect spot for a leisurely stroll, a picnic, some quiet contemplation, or to learn some history about the area. The gardens are steeped in history, with their origins dating back to the 12th century. The site was once the location of a medieval manor, and remnants of the Tudor-era house still stand, adding an air of historical charm to the surroundings. It is a picturesque setting that provides breathtaking views of the river and the lush greenery on its banks. The well-maintained lawns and flowerbeds are a testament to the care put into preserving this natural haven. Visitors will also appreciate the diverse plantings, including colorful flowers and mature trees, creating a serene atmosphere. The peacefulness of the gardens is enhanced by the soothing sound of the river flowing gently by. There is a small building that serves as a tea shop and is manned by volunteers. With its historical significance, riverside location, and well-tended grounds, Caversham Court Gardens offers a delightful escape for those seeking a peaceful connection with nature and a taste of local history. It's a place where the past and present harmoniously converge in a setting that invites reflection and relaxation.

Absolutely gorgeous area, clean and safe for kids, wonderful selection of flowers and the lavender out in full force at the moment, just a stunning and well maintained area! Lovely to be at the waters edge and not worry about my little one with the little fence. A lovely little area to chill and relax, lovely vibe.
Nadia B — Google review
A regular stop for my kids to feed the ducks, run around, climb the trees and play on the “slide”. Lovely spot to walk through, have a picnic or grab coffee and cake from the kiosk. The gardens are beautiful and the grounds well kept and very clean(mostly free of duck/goose/swan poop)
Nickie H — Google review
Beautiful place for w walk or picnic. There is a grass area where you can put your blanket down and relax with the book, picnic or just admire surroundings.
Alicja J — Google review
A very nice, attractive park and garden in Caversham. The park and walking path along the river is on opposite banks. You can feed ducks, or just enjoy the green space or either walk along the river. Looks like the river is busy with canoyeing during the summer. If you going to drive to this park, the closest free Car parking is The Warren (behind the church). You will find plenty of car parking here along the road. I recommend this park and gardens. Thanks.

Located in Queens Walk, The Hexagon is a versatile entertainment venue in Reading that offers a diverse range of performances including stand-up comedy, musicals, films, dramas, concerts and children's shows. It is considered the premier entertainment venue in the area and is perfect for a family day out or solo exploration. In addition to hosting live performances, The Hexagon also features a cafe, garden and shop for visitors to relax and enjoy.
Having lived in Reading for years, it was strange to visit The Hexagon for the first time in Dec 2024. We watched Cinderella with Justin Fletcher (of CBeebies fame) and Paul Morse who were a great combination. The panto was fantastic! The venue is looking a little tired but the acoustics were good and our balcony view was decent. The staff were also very friendly! The Hexagon is due to be refurbished and extended in 2025 so looking forward to going to our next panto.
Ravi N — Google review
I love this venue. I've been twice now and I find the building small enough to get around easily, toilets are always queue free and the theatre seats are spacious enough with good leg room (for women at least). I would describe this as a fairly intimate venue. Parking at the nearby Civic B carpark is very convenient and it's cheap.
Gemma J — Google review
The concert (by Gareth Malone) was amazing. We were in the main auditorium and had good views. Rest rooms were fine. Interval choices of treats were good. We'd failed to find the right car park and ours was a bit past it's sell by date, but there's plenty of paid parking nearby.
Stephanie S — Google review
What a lovely venue, I went with friends to see Miriam and we had the best time, Disabled parking right at the front door 🥰
Lyndsey — Google review
I have been here on 3 separate occasions for comedians and cannot fault this theatre. The first time I visited I had forgotten the paper ticket which was sent via post and the staff were so helpful and friendly with issuing me with another. The sausage rolls are so tasty and prices for food is reasonable. Easy to navigate, parking near by and plenty of exits to leave at the end. The seats are comfortable and spacious and easy to view the stage and act.
Jessica F — Google review
Went to see a musical here. Absolutely loved it! All the seats were well positioned to see the stage. Queues for the toilets were long but there were a lot of toilets so the queues also moved quickly. Very central location for anyone arriving by public transport.

The old place still has charm, and I had a plesent evening, saw the poges there once 😯 But this time was a more subdued affair with Michael Palin - The place realy dose need something done to it but I can't see that happening, so make the most of it, because it's better kept open than just ending up abandoned.

Fantastic experience. Really interesting tour of the house by Ale who was a SUPERB host. So enthusiastic and welcoming. The house and grounds are beautiful. So much information on the history, development, the family and the estate's importance in the local community. All topped off with a lovely lunch of local food. Such a historic estate and the star of many films and series. A bonus to a huge Eagle Has Landed fan to see the location up close including the house, the Mill amd the Church. Also to see some of the film props up close. Thank you Ale. Highly Recommended

The Oracle in Reading truly deserves every one of its five stars – it's an absolute gem! From the moment you step in, you're greeted with a bright, clean, and incredibly well-maintained environment that makes shopping a pure pleasure. The selection of shops is fantastic, catering to every need and desire. You'll find all the major high-street brands alongside some lovely independent stores, offering everything from fashion and beauty to electronics and homeware. What I particularly appreciate is the thoughtful layout; it's easy to navigate, and even on busy days, it never feels overwhelmingly crowded. Beyond the retail therapy, the dining options are superb. The Riverside area is a real highlight, with a diverse range of restaurants offering delicious food and a wonderful ambiance, especially in the warmer months. It's the perfect spot to relax and refuel after a successful shopping spree. The facilities are top-notch too – clean restrooms, ample parking (though it can get busy, so plan accordingly!), and helpful staff make for a stress-free visit. The Oracle truly goes above and beyond to provide a comprehensive and enjoyable experience for all its visitors. Whether you're looking for a quick errand, a full day of retail indulgence, or a lovely meal out, The Oracle delivers on all fronts. It's undoubtedly the heart of Reading's shopping scene and a destination I highly recommend to anyone in the area. A truly brilliant shopping centre!

The Oracle Shopping Centre was built in 1999, but still looks super new and modern. There's around 80 stores inside with a good selection of smaller shops, large chains, resteraunts, and cafes. The riverside (or canalside) setting makes it nice place just to walk around and I like the way that it connects the town up and has good access from whichever direction you enter.

The Select Car Leasing Stadium is a top-notch sports arena that serves as the home ground for both Reading FC and London Irish rugby union club. The stadium boasts modern facilities and is known for its cleanliness, making it one of the best in the country. Visiting fans can park their vehicles at the red zone located opposite to the hotel entrance, although parking fees are quite steep at £15 per day.
Very clean, large and inspiring stadium. It features a large seating area, executive suites, bars and plenty of amenities.

Having been with SCL for 6 years I cant fault the service especially from Tim Collins senior sales advisor he has been brilliant and very efficient. I will enjoy the new Berlingo for another term and will continue with them in the future if I lease again.

nice stadium but traffic on a match day makes it a busy place to get to especially from Reading town/ station... west reading is nearer but we didn't go that way.. Organised buses after the game to get back into town.. again traffic busy..

Historic Reading FCs former John Madjeski stadium is a 25,000 seater medium size fully enclosed stadium with attached hotel, ample parking and electric vehicle charging onsite. The Royals club shop is on site as well, staff were excellent and extremely friendly on our visit and are a credit to the club.

I went for Wimbledon's match in league 1. I arranged parking in advance at Regus Reading which was reasonably priced and only a 5 minute walk from the ground. I was seated in the front row of the upper tier of the away stand which provided a good view (see photos). I only purchased a drink but the food also looked reasonable. There was a crowd of around 13000 and getting out of the ground after the match was extremely slow.
Paul W — Google review
Plenty of parking and well stewarded. One thing I found bad was lack of drop kerbs. When came out of game there was no drop kerbs by exit. The toilet was a good size for wheelchairs as was the wheelchair area. Some stewards were a bit up themselves but most were brilliant. I don't know what idiot at Reading put their hooligans by our fans when most of stadium was empty. Then there was just some steel gates between us that their fans tried knocking it open but couldn't manage. On the whole the stadium was good and well maintained.
Fred B — Google review
Could do with a better PA system, you can't understand a word. And there's no music or entertainment inside the ground. The food is the usual hot dog, nachos and pies. Friendly staff and clean toilets and eating areas. Seating area is very well maintained.

Always a good day out. Went to the preseason friendly between Reading and West Ham. There is a great feeling within the stadium and wherever you sit makes you feel a part of the game. If you do drive in be prepared to wait a while before being able to get out of the car park.

The Cole Museum of Zoology, located at Reading University, is a charming and educational attraction for visitors of all ages. Founded by Professor Francis J. Cole in the early 20th century, this museum houses an impressive collection of over 3,500 zoological specimens, with around 400 on display at any given time.
I visited on a Thursday and found the guest count limited to those in the cafe. The venue, while small, boasts an animal collection sufficient to satisfy my interests. Thirty to sixty minutes should provide ample time to appreciate the exhibits.

The small collection they have is well presented, however parking near is nearly impossible. Not worth the trip out as it only takes 5 minutes to look at everything, and I definitely would not call this a museum.

King's Meadow is a spacious green area located on the southern bank of the Thames, just a short walk from Reading Station. It offers a serene escape with woodlands, football fields, and a towpath for leisurely walks or jogs by the river. Visitors can enjoy picnics near Thames Lido and watch boats passing by. The park also features a children's play area and is ideal for families and dog walkers.
Lovely huge park and fields. Next to the river. Perfect for families or dog walkers. I personally rollerskate here in the evening when its quiet :) No toilet but a huge play park and paddling pool for kids too

Nice. Little far from center. Can walk 25mins. Good for everyone.

This is a nice meadow by the River Thames. I like the fact that it doesn't get too busy, unlike nearby Christchurch Meadows. There are lots of ducks, swans, geese, coots and moorhens around so bring food to feed them. There is a nice playground as well and parking is relatively cheap. Toilets are available nearby at Tesco.

Nestled in the heart of Reading, Blue Collar Corner has quickly become a beloved hotspot since its opening in March 2022. This vibrant venue, set within repurposed shipping containers, offers an eclectic mix of street food and local brews that create a unique dining experience unlike anything else in the area.
TEN OUT OF TEN, or 5 stars as Google allows. Fantastic outdoor spot, rotating food vendors and a brilliant bar with local and own branded beers. In summer it's the perfect suntrap, and they have an Aperol Spritz bar. Even better- Gurt Wings has a residency spot more permanent than other food vendors, and they sell the most amazing chicken!

It's a great place for a evening drinks or a few hours family time. Always decent choices for food and the atmosphere is pretty chilled. Also really useful that dogs are welcome.
Adam G — Google review
This is a nice, cool, different kind of setup. A sheltered area housing a few different hatches of a combo of street food and a Bar. Nice sturdy benches set up for you to take your pick. With heaters above you which do not fail to keep you warm. The food, reasonably priced and definitely did not disappoint. The men's toilet block could have been a little cleaner. All in all a nice eating experience. I will definitely return.

Had a great time at the Berkshire Blag event on Bank Holiday Sunday. Wife and I went for the Gurt Wings, absolutely delicious whilst listening to some amazing music by the DJs, the music was the right volume that allows you to have a chat or get nearer the DJs and have a boogie!!

Bit of a dump in a crappy area with a worn-out car park a very short walk away. Good burger, great music playlist, draught beer. Can imagine it’s a great scene for students at night, but other than that I don’t get the appeal.
Gary W — Google review
Went with high hopes only to be served cold food. Also found a large piece of bone in my shawarma from Shawarmageddon UK. Can’t say about the rest of the places as we didn’t try those. The lady serving couldn’t be bothered enough. Disappointed to say the least.
Sw S — Google review
Place is like a British pier (run down). I understand it’s supposed to be industrial aesthetic, but it’s just run down. Fake flowers are broken on the floor and sun bleached, decking is grey n tired, heater had a flap open leaving the controls exposed with blue tack on the side (guessing that was their fix?). This place generally looks like an easy take apart, temp bar that’s outlived its stay . Not to mention the tight unsanitary toilets that make me feel very uncomfortable. The only redeeming factor of this place is the great selection of craft beers and the food stalls.

Visitors can start their day with breakfast by the outdoor heated pool before indulging in dishes like bacon sarnies on homemade sourdough or wood-roast kippers with mustard.
Such a great experience and so well organised. Loved that there were no kids in there when I arrived at 5.30pm. One thing I didn’t realise was that it was a lap pool instead of just swimming/ chilling. It did get more relaxed towards the end. They said it was 26 degrees but was freezing. You do eventually get used to the temperature. The hot tub was crowded and felt more like the temperature the pool should have been but was perfect on a warm day. The food, drinks and service was impeccable. Can’t wait to come back again and try the rest of it. Seriously so, so good!

I recently visited this winter swimming pool, and it exceeded my expectations! The water temperature was ideal — warm enough to be comfortable even on the coldest days, but still refreshing. The pool area was clean and well-maintained, and the locker rooms were tidy with plenty of space. What really stood out was the atmosphere: calm, relaxing, and perfect for both exercise and leisure. The staff were welcoming and always ready to help, ensuring everything ran smoothly. Whether you’re a serious swimmer or just looking to unwind, this is the perfect spot for winter swimming. I’ll definitely be coming back regularly this season!

I had such a lovely spa day package including lunch yesterday. So starting from the beginning: Parking: is very limited depending what time you go. There’s a public Ringo paid for car park out the front which is where I ended up going but if you can get into their car park I think it’s free or cheaper. The setting itself is quirky and buzzy and I loved it, the pool was a great temperature and the sauna was wonderful. The jacuzzi was always busy and a little small and the steam room wasn’t very steamy and in need of an update. The cold bucket was fun after the sauna too. I wish they provided some flip flops as I forgot mine (even if they’re paid for) and wish there was more comfortable seating around to read a book as this seemed limited but didn’t detract from my overall experience. I also got very cold from being wet and sat outside before my massage and even after I showered I wish I’d brought an extra towel so I wasn’t sat back in a wet robe (didn’t think ahead). I had a full body massage and the massage rooms sit above the edge of the pool. You can hear the indistinct chatter and clanging of cutlery but I actually found this to be really relaxing rather than it being so quiet with a bit of spa music. The massage was amazing and I came out feeling so relaxed and the masseuse took me to the tea room and offered a selection of herbal teas after and it helped warm me back up. The lunch was unbelievable - service was good and quick and very tasty. All in all - such an amazing value spa day and really well done - there’s a few minor things that could be done to make the experience 5* overall but you can’t knock it! Thank you so much

Went to this Lido on a Thursday with their Swim & Lunch package. Such a best deal! We came a bit late but the team are very welcoming and flexible and we can still enjoy the lunch and the swim and spa facilities.

Haven’t done a package at the Lido for a few years. Went this week for the swim and breakfast and was not disappointed. Staff are friendly and helpful. Breakfast was delicious with a good selection on the menu and the mint and cucumber cooler was amazing.
Nicole P — Google review
Thames Lido never disappoints. The swim and sauna were incredibly relaxing. Lunch was a highlight: the Cornish fish was beautifully cooked and full of flavour, and the pudding was a proper treat to finish. Highly recommend the Swim & Lunch package for anyone looking to recharge.
Elizabeth B — Google review
Pros - Really thoughtfully refurbished and brought back to life. Plenty of choice when it comes to packages, combo deals. I liked the eucalyptus scent in the steam room. It felt quite spacious, considering it was a Saturday lunchtime - pool area was split into fast lane, medium lane and “chill and chat” lane. Sauna had a nice big window looking out onto the pool area, in fact generally speaking it felt quite light due to the big windows around the pool. 2 of us had neck, back, shoulder massage and facial (mine was by Michelle and my mum had Carole, who was also very good) and 1 of us had the exfoliator treatment, these were excellent and professional, felt super relaxed. Good quality herbal infusion made for us afterwards. I thought parking wasn’t bad value (£11 for the whole day paid on departure, although first 3 hours are free. Caution as there is a small car park directly in front of the Lido car park, which I believe is run by a different company). Dinner as part of the package was very good, better than we had been expecting, given some reviews. We paid extra for the steak, and had desserts. Staff explained procedures and timings / what to expect. Towel and robe provided for massage packages only (no footwear). Relaxed vibe - didn’t need to rush to get dressed post massage to enjoy our meal, we were able to eat whilst robed (I guess that could be off-putting for those only attending to eat). Cons - Overall online booking process I found quite long-winded. The main pool was much colder than we were expecting (great as a cold plunge after sauna though). Hot tub was quite small, and by far the most popular area. Didn’t find jacuzzi that others mention in reviews, was there a button to activate in the hot tub? Car park is quite small, so limited availability. Some of the staff in the restaurant were not the most warm or welcoming. Would be lovely to have some fresh juices on the menu. Relax area post-massage was quite small, imagine it wouldn’t be that relaxing on a busy day. No area to lounge out and read a book, but to be honest if you booked the “swim, massage, meal” option I’m not sure where you’d find time to lounge as you’re so packed with activities and two hours pre-massage is just right to sample a little of all of the areas offered (sauna/steam/pool).

My first visit, and well worth it, told. My friend and I were lucky that it was quiet and were fortunate enough to speak to Alex, a volunteer, who gave us a personal tour. So much more interesting than walking around just looking at displays. I hadn't realised how important the area around Woodley was to aviation history. Two hours well spent and return will be made.

Lovely little museum. Not much parking available and could’ve done with opening the overflow. Volunteers are wonderful and friendly. Given the small size of it they have quite a few interactive exhibits for the children, with a lot of exhibits in a very small place it does seem a bit cramped. Entrance fee isn’t extortionate either, reasonable for the size. It’s just a shame they don’t have more space, but they are doing very well with what is available. Well worth a visit.

A great little soft play and one of those to still be in business after C19 lockdowns. Attended a party which was after normal hours and was provided around laser tag. Three games with the lights down low over the soft play equipment. All the kids had a great time from what everyone could tell. The staff were great and allowed a fair amount of leeway to the kids (in an entirely safe way)
Dan B — Google review
When this was originally booked over the telephone and deposit paid, back in August 2023, it was supposed to be an Exclusive Hire Laser Party. When we arrived and were told that it was only on the exclusive hire basis and no laser tag, this instantly caused stress, as 50 children were arriving with the impression that this was what they were going to be doing. The start of the party was absolute mayhem!! But….. in all the chaos can I completely praise the staff that worked relentlessly to “pull the event out of the bag’! Shannon, who was responsible for the running of the party (and may I say, her first ever party), did an amazing job and managed to get all the laser guns charged and the teams co-ordinated (which was like herding deaf and blind sheep!) The evening was not flawless, but I was very relieved that the errors made, were spontaneously rectified and all the children have been ecstatically talking about what a fantastic time that they had. So, what was initially going to be a complaint, has turned to appreciation of the Madhouse Staff, so please pass on again my sincere gratitude and thanks to the people involved, for their quick thinking, actions and also the clearing up! They made it work and proved it can be done!

Children very happy and impressed! The play area &food area we found clean and tidy, with staff often cleaning and tidying. We used the shop area attached to the play area to purchase a coffee and some cold slushys, prices were really reasonable and was highly impressed as soon of these places can over charge but we did not find this the case ,drinks were lovely went back for seconds. Toilets clean and well equipped. Enjoyed our stay! And can't wait to come back! Amazing job Mad House!

We really enjoyed this soft play with my 15 month old daughter. Wasn't the cleanest of places. But - excellent layout, love the todler area, they have plenty of space to run around. Excellent parking facilities and was a bit busy in the morning but still plenty of space for everyone.

Great place to let young children blow off excess energy. Foods a bit pricey. Avoid it at busy times, as it really is "The Madhouse". They have fine tweaked the parking times and rules, so be aware. Dropped one star because their WiFi is really non existent, it wasn't even strong enough to run a Speedtest because it couldn't find it 😰 and unfortunately the 4G signal is pretty weak, I couldn't get 5G either.

Honestly, it’s just awful! Me and my 2 year old and 7month old attended a week ago, there was 2 members of staff on reception who was lovely but the 3 young girls working in the play area were absolutely foul. And full of attitude and judgment. Giving snarky looks to absolutely everyone. With very obvious little care towards their jobs and kids. Hoovering under your feet in a desperate shot of going home despite not closing for a hour and half. If you click on my name you’ll see I’m not the type to leave negative reviews yet this was beyond me. The place isn’t clean by any standard either. To make it worst, from attending within 2-3 days my eldest fell sick, then 3 days after that me and my youngest are all now sick! Leading my daughter to miss out on her 2nd birthday. First time at a Genting casino, we decided to come to reading specifically for my birthday to go here as it’s the closest place with dragonfire roulette and we love it!! It took a long time to sign up to be a member but the man on reception was so so lovely. The bets were quite high for everything, so that was a little disappointing as we play for fun, not for money! The bar was lovely, and the restaurant looked great, we didn’t eat here, we took advantage of the free soft drinks whilst we were there and played on the small machines as tables were £5 min. This was on a Thursday early evening, so is likely more on a weekend night. We received a £10 offer each for drinks, food or games but we do not live in the area and it is about a 2 hour drive, so it is no use for us now unfortunately but was a nice gesture if we were more local.

Great Card Room. Has a buffet, both cooked and snacks etc to help yourself to and overall friendly vibe, The guy who runs it is very nice. Jackpots are run better than most places. There is a league but that's only really relevant to local players. Be warned, if you wanna play 1/2 probably not for you as frequency of straddle makes it essentially 2/5 game, With players allowed to match the biggest stack, I arrived 30 minutes in and there were players with already well over a grand on the table. Also don't expect the receptionists to know anything about the card room. May visit again when I have the bankroll for it but definitely not somewhere you can play as a intermediate or beginner player.

From signing on to leaving all the staff were polite and friendly. Quiet when we arrived around 21:30 on a Friday but much busier when we left astound midnight. My only gripe is that the bar staff wouldn’t let me order a soft drink at the bar, they suggested I get a free one once I was playing something. But no-one ever approached me for a drink order!

Been there a couple of times. All hands down and thumbs up to Paulina. 7 star customer service experience. Kind and polite and always knows what the guests need. Always accommodating with whatever the guest requests. She is an asset to the company. Deserves a pay rise. I am sorry if I said a lot, that’s what my experience has been so far. Never fails to address by the name. Lovely staff.

Prospect Park, located in the western suburbs of Reading, Berkshire, is a sprawling public park set on the grounds of a former stately home's gardens. Spanning 50 hectares, it features mature trees, sports pitches, and a regency-style mansion known as Prospect Park Mansion House. The park offers various amenities including sporting facilities, a miniature railway that operates monthly, a pond, and a children's playground.
A very nice and bug park. Can see events happening there. Good for walk, yoga, and sun. Children have recreational equipment to enjoy. Clean and peaceful.

The miniature train part is open on the first Sunday each month. My children loved it. The wise open park is perfect for play and picnics, whilst the play area at the top of the park is large and well maintained. If only we thought about it and packed the picnic........

Sprawled across more than 100 acres, this place is a perfect blend of space, serenity, and smart planning. There’s ample car parking, and the layout includes thoughtfully designed activity zones for both children and adults. The 5K run held every Saturday adds a lively community vibe and is a great way to kick-start the weekend. While summers can get quite busy with families and events, the non-summer mornings are blissfully calm — ideal for peaceful walks or simply soaking in the tranquility. A beautifully maintained and well-organized space for recreation and relaxation.

Beautiful area, we went to a mini fay festival here and it was the perfect location for it, easy to park, easy to find. Nice scenery and friendly staff. Seems like it would be great for a day out, walk or anything else you might need from a park.

Park is giant and lots of open space to play, walk and roam around. Kids playground is awesome that's best thing apart nature. Mini railways is definitely a thing to watch, how cum a small steam engine pull 8 to 10 people, learning (if you are in machine world) and fun. I will visit again and add more details.

Harris Gardens is my favourite place on campus! It’s so so so beautiful, especially during the spring season when the cherry blossom flowers bloom and make this particular section of the gardens pink and absolutely worth visiting! There is a part where there is just one bench and trees on all the sides which helps me in restoring my calm when I’m stressed. In one part of the gardens, there’s a brook which flows and the view there is absolutely gorgeous! It’s sad that not a lot of students are aware about this beautiful place on campus!

The church now houses a CofE parish and boasts immaculate cleanliness and serene ambience.
Great coffee shop and a wonderful urban church that loves the Reading Community! Redesigned keepo g the elements of beauty yet keeping it classy and relaxing! A beautiful place to worship and know the love of Jesus!!!

The attitude and kindness of staff serving in the Cafe for our Christian true faith needs upping I reckon. They should do their work as well as or better than baristas in high street cafes . If they are doing this as a proper job. The prices also here seem oddly high for caring Christian faith shared we tell of . Up to the mark by our God as we must. Being free indeed to be so. One or more staff looks miserable, not happy , glad and with free with Joy as should ??? be.... Which is surely what the Faith is about? I have every belief, or fear, by the way, that some so say proper manager here, will all reply to me all twee and 'politely' make excuses... and say we are all imperfect and need kindness..etc etc etc ?? ..?. Indeed we do ! But that does not mean more or not what it does too. - And if folk in every other job have to keep up the standards and folk work in a Church to have it easy . And not be held to standards ...for the Faith and God. ...then...!?? Which way around are things going. Kind true best to everyone though. Of course.

A serene place of worship that is not only beautiful but very well managed too! The cleanliness and ambience are immaculate. One section of the exterior is still under construction and no doubt when finished, will be an another piece of great workmanship!

After some online communication with Andril, we went to meet him regarding letting an event space. Andril not only met us late and letting us wait half an hour, he was also rude. He didn't care for any introductions or apologies, hastily showed us an event space that wasn't what we were interested in, and simply said the event space we wanted to see was currently busy even though there were only 2 people inside chatting at the time. When enquiring about renting the 'Sanctuary' room in the church without mentioning any specific dates or times, he simply said it's too busy and fully booked for the whole of next month without any hesitation. He quickly showed us out and told us we're better off looking at the church down the road. Absolutely disappointing and unprecedented treatment from the church.

The Phantom Brewing Co. is a brewery with two venues, one in which they are playing music and the other which has sofas and sells dark beers. They have a great selection of draught beer and canned beers, as well as bar snacks. The music is too loud at times, but staff are willing to move tables if needed. The atmosphere is friendly and the bathrooms are very clean.
Absolutely great space to hang out with friends and enjoy great beers with plenty on offer. The plan was to arrive early to get a good spot for the rugby, which we did. Once the rugby was over, we moved onto shuffle board and had a blast. As for the food on offer from 7bone, sooooo tasty! The venue was packed out during the game, but you did not have to wait long for a frosty beverage with the great staff offering table service. Will certainly be going back to enjoy the great atmosphere and great service!

Fantastic taproom experience. The beers are great (one of the best craft brewers in the UK right now) and the taproom space is really good. Two different areas, plenty of space, sport on in one area, overall good atmosphere. Food from 7Bone is great too, highly recommend the wings.

Outstanding place. Not only is the house and guest beer great, there is so much to do in this space. Games are free. Staff is friendly and accommodating. Plenty of space to sit and spread out and relax - outside or in. Absolutely loved our visit and can’t wait to return. A gem of a brewery. If you are reading this and contemplating on whether or not to visit, I emphatically and enthusiastically say yes, you should. Also, did I mention? Phantom is making some great beers! A+++
Christopher T — Google review
A fantastic independent brewery. The beer was good on a Friday night they had the rugby on a big screen and they had an independent food truck outside. They have free to play arcade games and a shuffle board table, although we need more practice before we can become shuffle shark's 🦈. If you are in reading and want to try local beer this is well worth a visit. They also partner with 7bone burger chefs kiss 🧑‍🍳👌
Luke W — Google review
Best brewery in Reading. Incredible hazy IPAS, soo many beers available on tap. Great food ready to order via QR code to your table, great burgers and fries - a ton of vegan options which we enjoyed. Board games available and shuffleboard and other games. Just perfect 🥰
Ben J — Google review
It’s always great to see a local business excel and this is exactly what The Phantom has done! Amazing premise brewed beer, really knowledgeable and friendly staff and now food as well. The dirty fries were a hit - crispy and top notch but the wings weren’t so good, cool and somewhat soggy. It was also surprising to see that this arrived in a deliveroo bag as there’s an on site food truck. Without food, the score is a straight 5/5. But the foods a little hmm.
Paul B — Google review
Staff very friendly especially James, he has great knowledge of what they serve and how it is produced. The size of the place is huge, two massive rooms, one quieter than the other, both having bars serving different beers, so the selection on tap is massive, also fridges full of their canned beers. A fantastic vibe about the place. If you're looking for a £2 pint of p#!@ stay at spoons! If you want proper craft beer, this is the place to be at.
Nathan H — Google review
What a nice place to spend some time with friends! They have good beers, games, comfy seats and a nice atmosphere. Also, they are dog friendly and you can see some cuties around. They don’t serve food but outside there were some Spanish tapas (which was okay, but good to have an option to eat something). I don’t drink beer but the feedback from people with me who tried was they beer were good (might worth saying a bitter IPA might be appreciated?!). Good place, definitely will be back.

The facility boasts excellent bouldering and lead walls, alongside a well-regarded café and ample parking. Furthermore, this gym offers multiple levels of bouldering options and includes a dedicated training area.
This is the best climbing centre in Berkshire area . Extensive lead climbing walls with quality routes. Bouldering is good too with nice variety of styles. Training area is well equipped with panoramic views across the whole centre so you can watch people climb stuff. Cafe and shop are good as well with delicious food snd 5 star hygiene rating which really is impressive and reassuring.

The space is great and the staff was polite, I have no complaints about these. However, the staff or the system is so inefficient that completely kills the mood of anybody who's checking in for the first time. I don't live in Reading so I had to sign some agreements and stuff before entering. The tablets where we filled the forms were very very bad and it was absolutely frustrating to write anything there. Two days later I returned because I enjoyed the place. I thought I did not have to sign and fill everything again. To my surprise, the staff could not find my name in the system and I had to fill everything once more, talk with 3 different people, repeat all questions once again, etc.
Ricardo C — Google review
This was an amazing venue to go climbing at, where I was checked in quickly at reception and asked appropriate safety questions. The walls go as high as you'd expect and have grips that range in difficulty level, going up to small ones that are spread out and diagonal routes is also a bonus!

Never ever use RailAir for travelling, ANYWHERE. A much revamped and new station but, strangly held back by it's 70's booking hall. When I was passing through, the vast majority of the up-Escalators from the platforms were out of use! Network Rail at it again....

Rude drivers The first time I used rail air the driver made fun of me for being exactly on time for boarding, which I understand is not a big deal. But the second time which is now the driver said I could the 14:30 bus since I was early and when I told him to give me a minute to talk to my parents he shut the door. When I asked him to let me board he nodded at ma and drove off. I was not causing any delays, my call didn’t last more than 30 seconds. He couldn’t even give me a minute to board.
Arinndam T — Google review
What has for years been the easiest, most comfortable and cheapest way to get to Heathrow (or back) from Reading Station has, I'm sorry to say, become an unreliable, unhelpful shambles of a service, going by my experience today! An hour and a half's wait in the cold at Heathrow (it used to be no more than 20 mins if you were unlucky enough to have just missed a coach) resulted in a number of us missing our trains! Other Railair drivers were unhelpful, no information was forthcoming at all. It was later blamed on motorway blockages, though on our eventual trip from Heathrow it all looked free flowing on both sides. And it's no longer direct, it involves stops along the way. Very sorry to see what was such an excellent service 3- 4 years ago now so bad. Hoping this will get back to what it was, but it'll take quite some work...for now, I'd give it a miss or allow plenty of time for delays!
Lynne C — Google review
Took railair from Guildford to Heathrow this morning at 8am. It was raining heavily. The driver was in the bus playing on his phone with the door closed. We - the passengers- we waiting outside in the rain. He only opened the door at the very last moment. Really poor customer service. Other than that the rest of the experience was good and bus was clean and comfortable.
Mark B — Google review
The desk is almost always unmanned so when you need help, there is no one there. Also, all staff seem to be unaware that passengers with a disabled railcard are also entitled to a discounted ticket for their companion. Very bad customer service which made traveling to Heathrow a very stressful experience. We have traveled with rail air before and except much better!

Beale Wildlife Park is a 350-acre outdoor wildlife park located in Berkshire, set against the picturesque River Thames. It features nature trails, river cruises, and a diverse range of animals including red deer and rare birds. The park offers fun activities for all ages, with play areas and a shallow paddling pool that opens in the summer. Visitors can enjoy seeing farm animals, small exotic creatures, and birds while also taking a train ride around the park.
We travelled from the Midlands to take my wife's nan who lives in Reading to Beale Park as she has always wanted to go. It was well worth the 5 hours of driving. The place has plenty of parking and was spotless inside. The staff were all really helpful and cheery. Lots of lovely places to sit and eat. All the pathways are nice for a wheelchair too. Plenty of animals and well maintained gardens to look at. We liked the fact that you just go round in two big loops so no dead ends to get lost in. We all had a great time thank you. Only thing is that when we go out to a place as a family we get a fridge magnet and you didn't have any with your place name on. Shame we don't live closer as we would deffo return for another visit.

Love Beale Park, well maintained gardens, great for adults and kids, good food and lovely animals to see. The only thing that was sad was the reindeer enclosure. They were all walking round in a big circle and you could see on the floor where they do it out of constant habit and boredom. They definitely need more room and stimulation. Would be definitely nice to see an improvement there

A perfect day out with kids! Beale Park has so much to do — a great outdoor play area, an indoor soft play, and even a little train that takes you around the park. The small water pool is brilliant for kids of all ages to splash around safely, and there are plenty of animals and birds to see too. The Wild Café has tasty food at reasonable prices, plus there are ice cream vans around the park which is always a hit with the little ones. Entry fee is fair for everything that’s included, and they also put on different shows to keep everyone entertained. Such a fun and family-friendly place — highly recommend!

Fantastic day out with my teenage son. The park was really quiet and lovely to walk around. We did the Feed the Ring Tailed Lemurs experience which was great. The young man who took the experience was fantastic and really knew his stuff. We bumped into him again later when he was feeding the otters and he took the time to tell us about them and answer our questions a real asset to the park. Also, had a lovely lunch in the cafe watched by the peacock trying to get in the door. We will definitely be back.

Very very nice place. A lot to see and do with your children. Animals, sand pit area, a pool, a miniature train to ride, an inflatable giant pillow and much more. There's a whole day to spend there and a very good reason to visit it over and over again. Nicely maintained and looked after , shame it didn't have a lot of photos on Google maps as we didn't bring our daughter's swimming costume. Free parking, a cafe and a lovely ice cream from the ice cream van located nearby the miniature train.

Fabulous day out, £20 for 2 adults. Lots of beautiful grounds to wander round, fantastic playground, bouncy cushion and splash pool for smaller kids to play in and enjoy. Cafe was very busy but there are loads of shaded areas for a picnic. There was a lovely ice cream van with gluten free whippy ice cream I could have in a tub. The little train was a lovely way to see the whole park. Wished I’d booked the feeding of the capybara as sadly this was booked up already. Highly recommend.

Wonderful place! Stroller friendly, have kids entertainment for all seasons. Nice selection of animals. Restaurant menu is very limited unfortunately, would be nice to have proper meal options besides sausages and chips or chicken strips and chips.

Absolutely loved this place. A really interesting selection of animals, including some unusual ones. A trip on the little train is included in the price, and the train carriages have roofs so it's good if there's a rain shower. The weather turned in the afternoon and it's nearly all outside so be warned. I used a mobility scooter and although it worked pretty well, there are some muddy paths and uneven surfaces. I also had to park and go into buildings quite a lot, so be aware if you're a wheels user.

Wellington Country Park, located in the serene Berkshire village of Riseley near Reading and Hampshire, offers a diverse range of activities for visitors. The park features safe play areas, nature trails, and a lakeside walk for both leisurely strolls and educational experiences.
I was in the area for business travel and decided to drop by to check out this park because my kids love dinosaurs and I seen they had a dinosaur area. I was not disappointed at all with the entire park. To enter the park you have to pay a fee.... It was about $25 US which is normal for most amusemant park like this one. They had great play structures/parks within the park that included wooden jungle gyms, metal slides and swings. Kids would have a blast climbing and running around! There is also this giant inflated balloon that kids can climb on and bounce on that is surrounded by sand in case a little one falls off. It stands about 5ft off the ground and the kids I seen were having a blast jumping and rolling off of it. There is a giant wooden ship which was pretty cool too. There is also a little feeding anima farm! In the middle of the park is a large lake. Lots of birds and I guess you can also fish there too. Seen a guy fishing for carp. Unsure if it's good fishing though buy hey, give it a try. There is a dirt path around that lake which brings you to the other side of the park where they have more play structures and the dinosaur exhibit area. There are approximately 20 fake dinosaurs along with a little informational piece about each one. If you have little ones, they could easily be scared because they have their teeth showing and don't don't look friendly but hey, that's a dinosaur for ya. They have sounds playing as you walk through to add to the experience which was cool. Definitely would take my kids. As you make your way around there is a splash pad for those hot days when the kids want to play in water along with another play park and slides next to it. There are also some hiking trails within the park as you first enter that I didn't get a chance to do but they say allow for an hour depending on which trail you decide to do. Cool park with cafes, sweet treats, and of course souvenirs to take home. Enjoy!

Wellington Country Park is a fantastic place for families! Everything is extremely clean and well-maintained, from the walking paths to the restrooms. The whole park is very well-organized, making it easy to navigate and enjoy a full day of activities. The campsite is especially impressive, peaceful, spacious, and surrounded by nature. It’s perfect for a weekend getaway. Facilities are spotless and the staff are always friendly and helpful. There’s so much to do for kids! The adventure playgrounds, splash zone, mini railway, and animal area kept our children entertained for hours. They didn’t want to leave! Highly recommended for families with young children, and the campsite makes it even better if you want to turn your visit into a short holiday. We’ll definitely be coming back!

We attended Wellington Park’s Halloween event, HalloWellyWeen, earlier this month and absolutely loved it! The entire park was beautifully decorated with spooky Halloween themes throughout. The train ride was definitely the highlight — it featured different scenes along the route, including a couple of smoky tunnels that the kids thought were amazing. The train staff were fantastic too, keeping everyone entertained and excited. We also watched the Halloween show, which had the kids in stitches — they thought it was hilarious! There were plenty of playgrounds for them to burn off energy, opportunities to feed the animals, marshmallow toasting, and lots more to enjoy. We arrived around midday and still couldn’t fit everything in, so I’d definitely recommend coming as early as possible to make the most of it. The event is excellent value for money. There were also several food and coffee stalls dotted around, which kept us warm and well-fed. Overall, we had a brilliant time and will definitely be back again next year for HalloWellyWeen! 🎃

We camped in the temporary holiday site over the bank holiday weekend and had an absolute blast in beautiful surroundings with friends. The children loved the splash park, sandpit play and all the playgrounds spotted around the park. Wellington is a brilliant sunny day activity with lots to keep children entertained. However, had we paid for our family of 3 to enter at full price, it would have been £75 and I don’t think it’s worth that price compared to similar attractions. They’re also missing a trick with food around the park too. The main cafe has some good (expensive) options, but if they elevated food with more choices in the other areas we’d have spent a lot more money rather than bringing our own food in that was the same as their offering.

The reason for only 2 stars is because of the price £25 per ticket, meant for a family of 4, 2 adults, 2 children the entry was £100!! I really don't know how the can justify that amount. Plus you have to pay extra for things inside the park. Food in the cafe was also HUGELY over priced for what it was The park itself is good, clean tidy, the kids loved the splash park, but I still can't get past the price, so unless the prices were dropped I really don't think it is value for money.
Chris B — Google review
The park and location are beautiful and couldn't ask for a better nature experience with the antler pens and feeding the animals at the animal farm, however, we stayed at the campsite and had 3 nights of an awful experience. The pitches we had - 53-54 - were close to the facilities which had florescent lighting on all night and the oldest, loudest hand dryer known to mankind be blasted all day and all night by all campers, creating a horrible sleeping experience

Fantastic place for family day with kids. Many kids activities, good coffee, nice nature, professional and friendly staff.

We went to WCP yesterday (5th October) with some friends and children. It was absolutely fantastic. You can easily spend an entire day there and not get bored; there is so much to do/see. We particularly enjoyed the train ride and the gentleman that was driving the train was so friendly and great with the kids. It was really good value for the tickets as well - note we had off peak prices - not sure what full price like. Will definitely be back. Kids are age 3.

Nestled in the picturesque Berkshire countryside, Stanlake Park Wine Estate is a hidden gem that exudes charm and beauty. As you journey down its enchanting tree-lined driveway, you'll be greeted by stunning 150-acre grounds perfect for any occasion. This venue offers a variety of settings for weddings, including the elegant Coach House and rustic Vineyard Barn. For wine enthusiasts, an engaging tour awaits where knowledgeable guides share insights into English winemaking while you sample six delightful wines.
What a wonderful experience! The tour was both informative and delightful. It began with a lovely glass of wine in the garden, and we enjoyed five more as we explored the estate. I recommend visiting during the week when the tour groups are smaller, possibly allowing for a second helping of wine. Even without that, the wines on offer are exquisite. Derek, our tour guide, was fantastic—knowledgeable, friendly, and happy to answer any questions. If you're staying in the area, avoid using Green Metro Cars taxis as they tried to take advantage of us. There are plenty of other options available. We purchased our tour with a discount from Virgin Points, and while the experience is worth the full price, getting a discount makes it an even better deal. After the tour, we enjoyed a bottle of our favorite wine (Braccus still) and a delicious cheese and meat sharing plate, which was a perfect end to the day. The weather was beautiful, so try to plan your visit on a sunny day, though I understand that can be tricky with English weather. We can't wait to visit again. Thank you for such a memorable day!

We were gifted the wine and cheese tasting tour and finally got round to booking this in for yesterday. It was incredibly lucky we managed to book onto the same day as the Henley art trail as we had the exciting opportunity to view local art at Stanlake and other Twyford spots. Our host on Monday 5th May was absolutely brilliant - funny, engaging and so knowledgeable about wine. I have been on vineyard tours before but by far this was the best, and have left feeling inspired to purchase and learn more about English wines. The sparkling and whites were our favourite, especially paired with delicious selected cheeses. Thank you so much!

We had a fantastic time on the wine tasting & tour—beautiful property, knowledgeable tour guide, and delicious wines! Will definitely be stopping by next time we’re in England!

Ciao! We were gifted with the wine tour. Was a nice experience tasting the English wines. Thanks, Andrew, for guiding us and explaining the steps of the wine production. Grazie!

What a fabulous time we had! Andy, our Stanlake guide was very knowledgeable, very entertaining and was engaging the whole tour! The wines were really tasty and I definitely had my favourite marked down 🥳. We had dry weather which was a bonus as it had rained all day....we will definitely be back to sample more wines in your enchanting walled garden. Thank you to all the staff. ❤️🥂

Had a wonderful morning wine tasting with our team! Tamsin was so knowledgeable and fun and engaging, we all thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. It was fascinating to learn about growing the vines and also producing the wine. Afterwards we had a delicious charcuterie board and bought some wine to take home. Fantastic historic venue, and I highly recommend!

I've been drinking wine in the Wine Garden at Stanlake for years but never taken the wine tasting tour until last week. I would highly recommend it to everyone. It was fascinating to learn about the processes that make the wine and to hear all about the history of the estate and the ethos of the business. It was also a great opportunity to discover new wines. A really great experience!

Lockey Farm is a family-friendly destination with various activities for kids, including jumping pillows, go carts, and toy tractors. The farm features a free car park, a farm shop, and a tea room. Visitors can enjoy delicious food and beverages at the cafe while children interact with ducks, chickens, and sheep. The outdoor space provides ample room for toddlers and kids to play. Additionally, there's a butcher shop offering fresh eggs and chicken meat.
Annual lambing weekends are brilliantly organised without being over supervised. It's up to you how much you want to do and for now long around the lambing areas. And if you ever have had enough of cuddling young lambs and watching the new borns, then there's the farm play area and cafe ... and the tempting farm shop. A wonderful family time.

A lovely outdoor space. Plenty of free parking, sandpit area, bouncy area for older and younger children, tractor trial, zip wire, assault course and a few animals. You can buy animal feed for the donkeys, chickens, pigs, sheep and goats. Very clean outdoor areas. It’s all free except the animal feed and food which is too expensive- an ice lolly for £2.50…. I visited today - a Monday, not much on the menu, only three ice lolly’s left and that’s it. The indoor eatery requires updating, The chairs have torn seat cushions, and some of the area around is torn, but it’s free, and there’s always wear and tear. Also, they sell fresh meat produce - farm owned. I didn’t find the staff friendly at all. Chef was very moody, the cashier man didn’t have any customer skills - no hello or thanks, and the lady at the meat counter was harsh when speaking. I’d go back, but I wouldn’t buy or eat there. There is a donation area, for contributions also, to show your appreciation for using the space.

Lockey Farm is an absolute gem and a true lifesaver for families looking for a wonderful day out. In today's climate, finding such a fantastic place that is completely free to enter is almost unheard of, and we are so grateful for it. While entry is free, there is a small donation booth should you wish to contribute, which is a lovely touch. There is so much here to keep the little ones entertained for hours. Our children loved the huge sandpit, the brilliant play area with a zip wire and climbing frame,, the little ride on tractors and inflatable bouncers. It was also wonderful to see all the happy animals, including the friendly goats, pigs, donkeys, and geese. The fact that all of this is available at no cost is just incredible, especially when many families might not be able to afford expensive entry fees elsewhere. You can easily make a full day of it by bringing your own picnic, or you can use the lovely on site cafe which serves a fantastic full English breakfast and delicious looking pizzas fresh from a stonefire oven. You simply can't give this place anything less than five stars. It's a huge recommendation for anyone wanting a fun, affordable, and wholesome family day out. We will definitely be back!

Was a lovely day. The farm is a little tired tbh, but at the end of the day it’s free entry, free parking and you can absolutely spend a couple of hours in the sun here.

Lovely food and wonderful venue for families. The lunch options are delicious and beyond what is usually provided in family focused cafes. They provide great food for milk allergies and also offer gluten free. Beautifully made pizzas and pasta as well as a full breakfast menu and more. Cafe lunch only open until 2.30pm but you can still buy ice cream and ice lollies all day. Free parking, calm animals to pet in surrounding fields with a really varied and large play area with so much. Play area suitable for babies through primary school ages and some preteens potentially. Safe and easy to relax and monitor your kids in the entire play area because of the layout. No dogs allowed

If you want concrete stands and flashy facilties this is not for you. However, if you want peace and quiet, plenty of space and basic clean toilets this is perfect. Owner was charming and a lovely shop/small cafe. Would definitely stay again if we were in the area with our campervan.

The playground has been renovated, with new sand in the sandbox and on the playground, and it's clean. It's not a super modern place, but it's always free – donations only . I recommend it wholeheartedly.

The Herb Farm is a charming destination located on Peppard Road in Sonning Common, Reading. It features a variety of local independent businesses nestled among the herbs and plants in the sales tunnel. Visitors can explore The Art Hut, where they can find unique paintings and artwork. Inside, they are greeted by friendly staff like Libby, who offers rose-scented moisturizing cream to try.
Popped out looking for herbs but stopped in at the cafe and enjoyed a really lovely salad and cake with our tea. It looks like a good place for lunch with really nice healthy options and some scrummy looking cakes. I would recommend the salad for vegetarians, but there's also sandwiches, soup, tarts and other dishes that might tempt you. The shop is also worth a browse, especially if you're looking for gifts. A nice afternoon out on a slightly chilly day.

This is primarily a garden centre focused on potted herbs, and even in winter, they had an impressive variety. I didn’t buy any, but I did learn that dill is good for settling your stomach—so that’s a bonus! The on-site café is lovely, making it a nice spot for a relaxing cuppa. There’s also a small craft shop selling quirky items, including some unique birthday cards I hadn’t seen elsewhere. Now, the downside: the toilets. Let’s just say they’re best avoided. If you can steer clear of those, though, it’s a pleasant place to visit!

Great place, so good for gifts and garden bits alike and tbe Pierponts cafe there is great - I had Turkish eggs and my friends had a full English, all very nicely cooked and scrumptious - rated 4 star as the service was a bit lacking on last visit, after staff passed by 3 times I had to expressly ask someone to clear the table of the previous users mugs and plates and my chai latte was a bit naff to be honest, really lacking in flavour. But I will go again because the food is yummy - especially when they have tarts and salad *also no salads on the day I visited hence trying the eggs instead.

First of all the £150 moon for sale on the counter from the complaining customer it clearly says DO NOT TOUCH, so common sense says ask a member of staff! moan moan moan!! found this place to be a little gem, loved it, loved the relaxation in the garden and my cheese toastie with a cup of tea. I have bought some lovely herbs too and will enjoy putting them in my garden back in Nottingham. Thankyou.

Grosvenor Casino is a contemporary chain casino that offers an array of gaming tables and slot machines, along with a grill restaurant and a late bar. The establishment features a fantastic show room reminiscent of a theater, complete with a cozy atmosphere, great bar, and spacious dance floor. Guests have been amazed by the Luther/George Benson tribute show, which left everyone thoroughly entertained. The staff at Grosvenor Casino are not only terrific but also join in on the dancing fun.
What a superb customer experience... This venue is surely a jewel in the Grosvenor crown... Check out the photos for an incite of how lush and colourful this casino is... I love the new member free roulette to win a mystery prize... From a free meal / drink to a £50 free lucky number spin on the paid roulette table. Many unique items here like the vending machine that allows you to buy perfumes, rare Pokémon cards and even gold / silver bars 😳 This place is stunning and immaculately clean... Dean was excellent host during my visit however all the staff here are so friendly and welcoming and even has a mega tv in the bar for those big Sporting events. The showbar has a stage areas and holds regular live music / comedy acts... To much to list all gaming facilities but Poker, roulette, black Jack, 3 card poker, 3 card whist, U.T.H and all the usual electronic machines

Nice place, 1st time join this casino in reading with big tournament series. Like college boy first day work in society. A bit of disappointment. Casino kind of short of poker dealer

This place is a disgrace to the concept of “responsible gambling.” I told Grosvenor staff that my limit was £2,000 per month. They entered it as £2,000 per day — and silently watched me lose several tens of thousands of pounds over just a few days. No proof of income requested. No affordability checks. No self-exclusion or even basic time-outs. Just silence, while I kept gambling beyond any reasonable threshold. The money I lost led me into serious debt — I’m now behind on credit cards, utility bills, and other essential living expenses. Their response? A half-hearted excuse and a joke of a settlement that barely acknowledged the damage. This company doesn’t care about protecting players — they only care about protecting their profits. They ignored clear red flags and allowed me to spiral financially and emotionally without any meaningful support or intervention. Avoid Grosvenor at all costs. Especially if you’re vulnerable — they won’t stop you, they’ll just let you destroy yourself.

Very underwhelming casino. Looks like a pit of depression. Played 1 single hand of blackjack for £15, had a 20 dealer took 2 more cards after hitting hard 17 leading him to get a 21 and me losing. I had no time to process what had happened as everything happened super quickly and he took the cards away extremely fast. Would not recommend, horrible casino and atmosphere.

Oxygen Reading is a trampoline park located in Reading, UK, offering various packages such as fitness classes, open jumping sessions, and group events. The park provides a fun experience for people of all ages with friendly staff who engage with the children and offer enjoyable activities. Visitors can make advance reservations for group events and enjoy reasonably priced food and drinks. Despite being busy during peak times, the park remains manageable, ensuring everyone has a chance to enjoy their favorite activities.
My daughter had a party at oxygen reading recently. It was fantastically organised and I am very pleased with the service. All of the staff were very friendly and approachable when I spoke with them. The party check in was a breeze, the party hosts were pleasant and capable with all the excited children - and the tunnel experience was especially memorable for the children and a lovely way to get them excited. The cafe team were wonderful; all allergen requirements were accommodated and the food was delivered to the party room efficiently (good portion sizes that were the value for money) which was very helpful as the kids were hungry after jumping! The court monitors were super at interacting with the children, they couldn’t stop laughing at Larry’s singing on the microphone which was lovely to see them enjoy. Overall, it was a great experience and the management of this establishment was evident through all the employees — it was amazing to see the passion they brought into their work. I will definitely be visiting again and would recommend the party services to others. My daughter and her friends were so happy and I’m thankful to the staff that supervised them during the visit so that the parents could get a break! Thank you Oxygen Reading 😄☺️

We had a fun time recently! The place was super clean and safe, which put my mind at ease, and the activities for the kids were spot on. Our party host was fantastic, really engaging with everyone. The only hiccup was the check-in process; it felt a bit chaotic with a lot of people waiting, and it seemed like we were called in a bit too early. Overall, the food and drink were great, and I’d definitely return!
Rita L — Google review
The staff were unfriendly and I didn’t see any willingness to help. Even though we already had non-slip socks, being forced to buy new ones was very annoying. The place itself is nice, comfortable, and fun for children.
Eda E — Google review
Overall, my experience was positive. Everyone from the head office to the rest of the staff was excellent: friendly, professional, and extremely helpful. I truly appreciated the quality of service provided by most of the team. However, the experience at the check-in area was a stark contrast. The two young women working there were noticeably unfriendly and unprofessional. One in particular (African lady) came across as crass, abrupt, and outright rude. While I understand that anyone can have a bad day, there's no excuse for dismissive and disrespectful behaviour especially in a customer-facing role. All we asked for was a simple change of dates on our ticket. Instead of assisting or providing clear information, we were told to buy a new ticket and, shockingly, advised to leave if we didn’t like what we were told. This approach is completely unacceptable. Receptionists should be there to support and inform customers not make them feel as though they’re a burden or unwelcome. Unfortunately, this encounter left a very negative first impression.

Garden centre is great. Lovely looking flowers that are well maintained with helpful staff who pointed us in the right direction. The fruit and veg and eggs are of good quality from the farm shop. Didn’t buy any meat but the dry food was a bit disappointing. It appears it is mass market food in packaging so didn’t have a very local feel. It is however new so maybe they are gauging the market. Would be nice for it to be more locally produced food all round.

First visit yesterday and very impressed with quality, range and price of bedding plants. Also had prompt and polite help with getting compost to my car! I live down the road so probably won’t need to do the rounds of other garden centres as I used to (definitely won’t be using the other new one across the road!!).

We visited the farm shop on Saturday. Very expensive and disappointing. The strawberries i bought went off the next day. Not my experience elsewhere. The expensive biscuits I bought had no chocolate pieces in, were much smaller than the packaging suggested and flavourless Very disappointed. Won't bother to visit again.

The checkout staff are friendly. Some of the other staff are quite grumpy. Came across a dog poop in the aisle of the indoor section today and tried to tell an assistant. She either didn’t hear me, didn’t understand me or was deliberately not listening to me - so I gave up. (just to be clear, I don’t have a dog so it was nothing to do with me). The plants that are ‘reduced’ are only reduced if you are part of their ‘club’, ie they are able to gather your data. Otherwise, they are full price. The tomatoes look big and juicy but I found them utterly tasteless.

Hi, I just wanted to say, since moving up to Reading, I started going to your casino in the town centre, not on a regular basis, but just enough times for your staff to recognise me.I have always had a warm & friendly welcome. The waiter's are always friendly and very helpful, I would really like to thank all, but I have a special thank you to Gabriella for her kindness & to Anna as well awesome staff members 👌🏾I won the poker cash race on the 29/06/25 Yahoo! 😎 Paul who looks after the poker room is a true gentleman. As a regular to the Grosvenor Casino Venues, my visit here was ultimately ruined by the Manager on duty at the time Emily. My experience here stared as any other, I was looking for a few drinks and a couple of games at a Grosvenor. The general team here were great. I got welcomed and served as you would expect. My 1 star rating is based on the last last 20/30 minutes in the venue. I was there in what appeared to be a very quiet Tuesday night. I was planning roulette and noticed I had a lot of eyes on me. As a passing comment I said to my dealer ‘am I the last one standing?’. I got a response of 3+ people saying “yes”. At this point I took my sign and left. Before leaving I wanted to speak to speak to the on duty manager and express my opinion. Enter Emily. I explained the above and to be honest, there was no Customer Support. They didn't give a second thought of my opinions and said thanked me for my time as they walked away. Hence my review. This venue seems to be about making a quiet night for the staff, vs an enjoyable one for their guest.

I used to play poker regularly at Grosvenor Reading—around four days a week. Paul was an outstanding dealer and one of the main reasons I kept coming back. He remains one of the nicest and most professional dealers I’ve encountered at any casino. Unfortunately, the overall experience at this location has declined significantly. During one poker session, I lost £600. As a joke, I showed one of the regular players—someone I had developed a friendly bond with—a bank account with little to no money in it. He had been encouraging me to play, and it was all said in a light-hearted manner. The next day, when I returned to play, a manager denied me entry. He claimed that I had been playing there too frequently and that showing my bank account raised a red flag. I explained that the person I shared it with was someone I regularly played with and trusted. The manager told me I would be banned for two weeks pending a review. To my shock, I was later informed that I had been banned for six months from all Grosvenor casinos. This was baffling. It’s not like I couldn’t afford to play—I showed proof of financial stability, including ownership of multiple properties and regular monthly income, even as a student. I also had more than enough funds in my account to play at any casino. To make matters worse, I later tried to enter a different Grosvenor casino and was told I had self-excluded, which I never did. I was never informed of being placed on any self-exclusion list, and I certainly didn’t request it myself. It’s incredibly disappointing to be treated this way over a misunderstanding. I used to go to Grosvenor not because they had the best games, but because the staff—especially the dealers—were kind, respectful, and created a welcoming atmosphere. It’s disheartening to see that change so drastically.

Nice cosy Casino, which has two floors. The staff are friendly and welcoming. Nice choices for gambling. The food choices are decent, tasty and the value for money; 3 course meal for £12.95 and the portions sizes are hearty. Non- alcoholic drinks (coffee, tea, soft drinks) are free when ordered at the bar or while gambling. Shame there is no free parking like the other one near by, though it is in the heart of the town centre. Stating the obvious here, but you have to be over 18, though not so obvious if it is your first time there - you will have to join as a member (which is free though may require a few extra minutes, so remember to bring ID). Dress code: I believe smart casual, though try not to wear shorts or flip flops; they could refuse entry.

The Queen Victoria statue in Reading was created by George Blackall Simonds, a local sculptor and director of H&G Simonds Brewery. It stands near the town Hall and St Lawrence Church, serving as a historical landmark in the area. The statue pays tribute to one of Britain's longest-reigning monarchs and is a notable attraction for visitors interested in history and art.

The South Street Arts Centre has been frequented by visitors for many years, and it underwent a renovation a couple of years back. It serves as an ideal location for small-scale performances with a more personal touch. The staff is welcoming and the bar is of good quality. It's worth giving this venue a try! The center hosts fantastic shows, and the staff members are amicable. Due to its popularity, it's advisable to seize any last-minute opportunities to secure tickets for desired performances.
We watched comedian Paul Foot here. Small theatre with good tiered seating. Bar available for pre show and interval drinks. What I liked most was ( at time of writing) free parking after 6pm on the same street as the venue. Arrive early and you can easily walk into town for a meal.

Lovely little centre to watch a show, its small with stepped seating so you get a great view and feel close to the stage. They offer shows for children and adults, I've already booked to see another one. There is a cafe/bar area which has good coffee, and they do snacks like crisps and small tubs of ice cream, but don't offer food. There isn't a car park but there are parking meters on the nearby roads, and I'm told its around 10min walk from the Oracle car park.

Clean & pleasant facilities. They need to be better prepared for the heatwave-like conditions we have been facing recently. It was very hot once we sat down inside the small auditorium

Great local venue for a theatre. Seats comfortable, if a little crowded. Not impressed with the ladies bathroom however. Mould on the drier? And political affiliations left on the door.

Just gets better Another great act at the venue. This time, Jon Boden's brilliant solo gig. Just brilliant but the Centre crew as always add to the magic. Lovely people ... and the choice of local ales is the icing on the cake. Homeward bound with big smiles on our faces. Another big shout for the bar staff, especially at the interval. Multi-tasking marvels.

Progress Theatre is an independent venue that stages intimate drama productions. It operates in a compact space and funds itself with a licensed bar. The performances by the talented actors are consistently of high quality, and the staff create a welcoming atmosphere akin to being part of a close-knit family. Refreshments are available at reasonable prices during shows, adding to the overall experience.
Had a fantastic evening at the progress theatre. Great production of Terry Pratchett's 'Nightwatch'. Clever staging and a great cast that all seemed to enjoy their roles. Out front staff were friendly and provided lovely kind service. Very glad I went and I'll certainly look forward to future productions. Reasonably priced bar also a plus.

Rivermead Leisure Centre in Reading is a modern sports and exercise facility that offers a well-equipped gym, exercise programs, leisure pool, and squash courts. The center also features a spacious soft play area for kids to keep busy while parents enjoy the facilities. With ample parking and clean facilities, it's an ideal spot for both fitness enthusiasts and families looking for recreational activities. The on-site cafe provides options for both kids and adults, making it convenient for visitors to grab a light snack.
A nice and family orientated centre. Gym, swimming centre, play area, party centres, cafe, basket ball centre and plenty of free parking outside. Charging car ports, disabled pays, mother and parent parking too. The place is totally revamped. The users need to do those bit with regards to keeping the premises tidy by being respectful, if it’s too last. Staff are polite and welcoming.

Highly recommend the leisure centre! I bring my children swimming here for lessons, my daughters teaching is fantastic, I want to say her name is Katie (highly recommend her) she’s been quite nervous about swimming however the teachers have made her feel safe and comfortable in the water. After we played in the soft play area and got a coffee and cafe from the cafe, it was all very reasonable priced and the young gentleman who served us who is often teaching swimming alongside the Saturday team, was amazing he asked us of any allergy requirements and asked us about a weekend and how the lessons were which added a lovely touch to our day! Cannot fault the leisure centres activities or staff all fantastic!
Becci — Google review
We attend swimming lessons with my 3-month-old baby. The teacher is excellent, so I highly recommend it. The pool is clean, and the water temperature is comfortable. I wish there were more changing rooms for families with young children, since there are always queues for them.

Okay, so Rivermead Leisure Centre is basically my second home. I've been going there for what feels like forever, and honestly, it's the best! Whether I'm in the mood to smash a workout or just chill and have some fun, Rivermead always delivers. The facilities are seriously impressive. The gym is loaded with every machine and weight you could imagine, so you can always get your sweat on. And the pool is brilliant. But what really makes Rivermead special is the people. The staff are always smiling and ready to help, and the regulars are a friendly bunch too. It's just a really welcoming and positive place to be. I always leave feeling energized and happy. So, if you're looking for a place to get fit, have fun, and feel good, Rivermead Leisure Centre is where it's at.

A very rude group of retired people + others stayed in the fast lane for minimum 30min chatting without swimming, occupying the whole space on one side. I’m talking about a group of 7-8 people, not just 2. They were not told anything by the staff. They were very rude with my partner when he went to swim in this lane (“this is a fast lane” - hello, do I know you? And how do you know if my partner is slow?). Cherry on top, the lifeguard came to tell us to change lane when no one was swimming there. I came for 30min of sport and relaxation and I went back home more stressed. I should have complained about this group instead of being educated and nice. I cannot believe I am writing this, it felt like kindergarten seriously. 😅 Could you manage this group of people next time instead of protecting them?
Noémie M — Google review
DREADFUL cafe ruining a quite lovely centre. Started swimming here regularly as it's close to my office and the pool and leisure centre are lovely, clean changing rooms, warm showers and a generally pleasant experience. Unfortunately this is let down by the atrocious service in the cafe. Today i was third in the queue, but the lady serving decided it was more important to have long meandering chats with the two customers before me, and then a separate customer, and then when i did eventually get to the front of the queue she decided it was a better customer service choice to then very slowly prepare the salad to go with the toasties she had literally JUST put in the machine than serve another customer! I even asked if she could serve me but was totally ignored. Eventually after about five minutes or waiting ignored i had to leave. Atrocious customer service that needs looking at ASAP

Moor Copse Nature Reserve, situated at Tidmarsh between Pangbourne and Theale, offers a diverse range of habitats along the River Pang. Visitors can enjoy a woodland walk amidst blooming bluebells and explore the vibrant wildflowers in the hay meadow during June and July. The reserve is home to various wildlife including plants, birds, animals, insects, and fungi. However, some paths may be closed due to ash dieback affecting the trees' stability.
Really lovely nature reserve featuring seasonally wet-woodland, coppice and hay meadows with the river Pang running through it. Good access for walkers via footpaths but, although wheelchairs can access some of it easily, parts of the riverbank path would be difficult.
Chris R — Google review
Unfortunately this nature reserve is being spoiled by the men who are using this location for nefarious activities during the daytime and evenings. Lots of empty beer cans are scattered all over the place, alongside lots of other rubbish as well. It’s such a shame that the nature reserve is being treated this way and it spoils it for the wildlife trying to thrive here and the people who just want to walk their dog in a nice environment. A lot of cleaning up needs to be done here, but the other more serious issues still remain. I would highly recommend that lone females avoid this nature reserve as I don’t think you will feel safe.

I'm pretty sure that the car park might be a place for dogging. When me and my partner came back to the small discreet car park, after walking our dogs, there were several parked cars all with single middle aged men in them. It was decidedly dodgy.

Nice and easy walk; lots of shade through the woods and the proximity of the river Pang make it a favourite destination for dog walks in the heat of summer. The paths can get a bit muddy in winter. On Saturday I went to watch Reading v Blackburn, and really enjoyed my first visit to The Select Car Leasing Stadium to tick off another groundhop. Upon my arrival, I was amazed with the size of the stadium and it's really convenient for home and away supporters that there's a huge amount of parking spaces available on site. I went into the club shop and was delighted to have purchased a pin badge for £2.50, but I was very disappointed to have learnt that the club don't produce matchday programmes which was a big disappointment as I always buy one whenever I visit a new ground. The stewards were really friendly and helpful when I was being directed to the Gate and Block. I really liked the architecture and structure within the inside and outside, in particular the roofing. During half-time, I felt unease with how crowded the concourse was, in particular the queues for food and to go into the toilets. As soon as Reading opened the scoring with a stunning finish from Josh Laurent, the atmosphere lit up and it was really good to see the togetherness within the players and supporters during the goal celebrations and full-time whistle. This was my first experience of being present at a Championship match, and don't think I could have chosen a better fixture to have been present at. As the stadium is wonderful and it was also great to have watched one of my favourite Barnet players from all time in Andy Yiadom playing the full 90 minutes! I look forward to returning to Reading in the near future!

Lots of avian wildlife along this stretch of The Thames. There are plenty of benches to sit on and watch the world go by, as well as extensive lawn areas on which to sunbathe or have picnics in the summer. There's a children's paddling pool and playground. Tennis courts. Public conveniences. Some lovely trees, especially a line of Lombardy poplars, which can be seen on the edge of the eastern boundary. The pedestrian bridge is a worthy addition to the Meadows. There's a nice area right by the end of Wolsey Road where you can sit on benches and watch the boats. There are a lot of bird families on that stretch of the river. They enjoy the floating bird seed, which can be conveniently bought at Homecrafts, the brilliant hardware store in Prospect Street. Christchurch Meadows is a charming, tranquil area to spend time in. The birdlife is wonderful. When I was seriously ill in the hospital, I daydreamed of being here. It's an idyll, a piece of paradise, and I love it.

Hi. I just wanted to say a huge thank you to the site team at Green Park for helping me when I fell off my bike on Tuesday. Sadly, I can't remember anyones name , probably due to the shock, apart from Ricky, who held my leg still for 20 minutes whilst we waited for the ambulance. An amazing team, so thoughtful and compassionate. Great work getting the ambulance to come quickly and special thanks to the lady who came over to me when I called , listened, and then ran to get help! Thank you so much 💓

Beautiful location, no doubt. Though it seems beauty alone doesn’t guarantee a warm welcome. I had the unique experience of being treated like a potential threat — all because I took a photo with a DSLR, without prior written permission. I was swiftly reminded (very clearly) that this had absolutely nothing to do with how I look — you know, being a middle-aged, Asian-looking man with a camera in hand. For context, I was there as a guest of one of the companies in the building — fully invited, fully legitimate. But proving that didn’t earn me an apology. Instead, I received a lecture from what I can only assume were their famously non-arrogant, non-racist, and perfectly reasonable supervisors. An unforgettable masterclass in how not to welcome a guest. I spent the entire day there. Didn’t spot a single smile from the staff. Maybe I wasn’t looking hard enough — or maybe that’s just how things are run around there. Interestingly, a few people I know (who just happen to be white) told me they’ve taken photos in the same spot with zero issues. Pure coincidence, I’m sure. At lunchtime, I asked the buffet staff about the prepaid lunch options. The gentleman behind the counter responded with such charm and grace that I lost my appetite entirely. I decided to pass on lunch — a tough call, but apparently easier than digesting the attitude. Days later, I still feel a bit uneasy remembering the whole experience. Not complaining — just putting it out there, if only to help myself process the strangely sour aftertaste of a day that was supposed to be a professional visit. Just to be clear — the two stars are purely for the architecture and the beautiful landscape. Nothing else.

Green Park also hosts social and networking events, encouraging community interaction among tenants.

Beware of Green Park's Predatory Parking Policies As a frequent visitor to Green Park, I must caution fellow drivers about the predatory parking policies in place. While the park itself offers a serene escape from city life, the parking situation leaves much to be desired. Green Park's owners seem to prioritize profit over fairness, especially when it comes to short-term parking. Drivers are routinely charged exorbitant fees for even brief stays, with little regard for their circumstances. This practice disproportionately affects low-income individuals who may need to park briefly for essential errands or appointments. Furthermore, the lack of transparency in pricing and enforcement only adds to the frustration. It's time for Green Park's owners to reevaluate their parking policies and ensure they align with principles of fairness and accessibility for all visitors. Until meaningful changes are made, I advise caution when parking at Green Park and urge others to explore alternative options if possible. I have to add that traffic near Costco store is terrible.

Lovely dog walking. Note no official parking. So all on road etc.

Lovely place to fulfill your exercise unit during lockdown. It's a large, hilly park in the middle of Caversham with cute dogs as far as the eye can see. Walk to top of the hill for a nice view. Came upon it quite by accident and very glad we did. I assume it would be a nice place for a picnic but they're illegal at the moment so wouldn't know. It's also got a funny name so that's something.

This is a lovely green space in Hemdean Valley, thankfully saved from the greed of developers several years ago, and adopted by Reading Borough Council as a mixed use open space. It was a most important area for walkers, and their dogs, children and parents, and horse riders during the two years of Covid lockdown. It continues to be a much loved area and one of the safest parklands to let your, children, pups, and dogs young and old to excercise, because there are no vehicular roads through the open space.

4 good open fields of hilly chalk pasture of conservation value. The grass grows to meadow for wildlife conservation and is cropped for hay later in the season. Ragwort does grow. Open walking with mown paths with a sub base path somewhat overgrown through it; you're alright as long as you duck in places. It sits surrounded by houses with a stables leading to bridleways beyond. Very popular with dog walkers and so uncollected poop can be a common encounter. Dog walkers are often local but sadly also tend to be neurotic, fair weather walkers of professional backgrounds who could spend more time walking, so encounters are mixed. Often the dog owners are nervous of others and keep themselves to themselves. There is also a highly watchful (dare say hyper vigilant and judgemental) Caversham Dog Owners group covering the area. The dogs are rarely the problem but walkers are an even spilt of those wholly weary of others and not really in control (making them snippy and a bit frazzled looking) and others being friendly regulars. The difference is easy to spot. Very busy at weekends, high days and holidays with family walkers and higher incidences of the nervous walkers. There are better walks around and using Bugs should be for convenience or specific interest. It can be very beautiful.

Gorgeous place for a dog walk on your own or with friends. Spectacular during the summer, but even in the depths of winter it is still nice

Country park
McIlroy Park is a secure and spacious park, making it perfect for dog walking. The green space offers ample room for dogs to run around, while the enclosed area provides a sense of security. The park features lovely wooded sections and offers stunning views of Reading from different vantage points. It's an ideal spot for family strolls and capturing early morning shots of the valley.
Nice place in to take a stroll with your family ..enough ground for walking dogs ..overlooks reading town from a distance, nice vantge point for early morning shots of the valley.. And you can nicely put up a tent to enjoy the Reading festival from here😁

Small but its beautiful. Definitely worth it.

This park is fantastic for dog walking as there is plenty of green space to give them a good run, but it is completely enclosed so it feels very secure. Lovely wooded section down one side and end. But the best bit are the views. In one direction I think you can see all of Reading from up there. In the other you could forget you are in Reading at all!
