1Piazza IX Aprile

Piazza IX Aprile in Taormina is a charming square located at the end of the main street, Corso Umberto. Its name commemorates an event from 1860 when a rumor about Giuseppe Garibaldi's arrival to liberate Sicily started spreading. The square is surrounded by a balcony offering stunning views, outdoor terraces perfect for enjoying drinks, and two religious buildings - the Church of San Giuseppe and the Church of Saint Augustine.
A must-visit spot in Taormina! Piazza IX Aprile is absolutely breathtaking. The views over the coast and Mount Etna are stunning (especially at sunset). The atmosphere is lively yet relaxed, with street performers and beautiful old churches surrounding the square. This piazza has a timeless magic that makes it unforgettable. Highly recommended for anyone visiting Sicily!
Stojan L — Google review
Go in the morning (before 9 am or in the evening (after 6 pm) and you won’t have to fight the crowds. It’s actually quite pleasant. Surrounded by churches and stunning scenery, the views are great.
Eric T — Google review
Taormina is a jewel. The piazza is full of life and the views are breathtaking. From here you can see mount Etna and mainland Italy. There is so much to do here and the food is amazing. Taormina is definitely worth a visit.
Paul F — Google review
This square in the middle of town is a beautiful spot to stop at. The Piazza overlooks the sea. You can also see Mount Etna from the terrace. The atmosphere is nice. Although it is very popular and there are a lot of people, it's not overcrowded. There are often painters offering to paint portraits for people. Around the square are examples of magnificent architecture. Take the time to visit the church on the square. Follow the IG link in profile for more travel and food and drink tips, ideas and reviews!

Piazza IX Aprile is not just a square; it is the breathtaking living room of Taormina. This centrally located piazza is a must-visit, offering a flawless blend of natural beauty, historic architecture, and vibrant Sicilian life. The square’s signature black-and-white checkered pavement sets the stage for what feels like stepping into a perfectly composed photograph. The star attraction is, without a doubt, the unparalleled panoramic terrace. From the elegant railing, the vista stretches out over the crystalline Ionian Sea, providing a sweeping view of the Bay of Naxos below. On a clear day, the colossal, snow-capped silhouette of Mount Etna dominates the horizon, offering a dramatic backdrop that truly encapsulates the magic of Sicily. Catching a sunset here is highly recommended, as the light casts a golden, ethereal glow over the entire landscape. Anchoring one side of the square is the stunning Chiesa di San Giuseppe (Church of Saint Joseph). This 17th-century Baroque masterpiece is instantly recognizable by its beautiful façade, topped by an inscription and a niche with a statue of Christ. The church is accessed via a graceful, double-flight staircase with a balustrade of Syracuse stone, adding a theatrical flair to the square's composition. While the interior is worth a quick visit to admire the Rococo stuccowork and marble altars, the exterior presence of the church is what truly defines the square's historical character. The Piazza itself is a hive of activity, lined with atmospheric (if slightly pricey) cafés, perfect for sipping an espresso or aperitivo while people-watching. Street artists and musicians often contribute to the lively, sophisticated atmosphere. Flanked by the historic Torre dell'Orologio (Clock Tower) on one side and the Chiesa di San Giuseppe on the other, Piazza IX Aprile is truly the heart of Taormina and an unforgettable stop for any visitor.
Halide E — Google review
The Setting & Photographic Wow Positioned on the picturesque Piazza IX Aprile in the heart of Taormina, the church overlooks one of the most beautiful vantage points in town. From the square you can capture the church’s elegant Baroque façade, the charming clock tower (Torre dell’Orologio) nearby, and — on a clear day — sweeping views of the Ionian Sea beyond. It’s a truly “picture‑perfect moment” where architecture, history and coastal scenery meet. Its location in the lively, photogenic Piazza IX Aprile means you’re not just visiting a sacred site, you’re also in a space that lives and breathes Sicilian town life. The double flight of stairs leading up to the entrance adds drama and charm, making it a delightful spot for a relaxed stroll, a photo stop, or simply to sit and soak in the atmosphere.

The central place of Taormina. Simply beutiful with marble tiles floor. Culture and hIstory on one side and views to the sea and Etna Vulcano on the other.

Island
Isola Bella is a small, rocky island located within a nature reserve in Sicily. It is known as the Pearl of the Ionian Sea and offers stunning pebble beaches and rich marine life. Visitors can take a boat tour from Giardini Naxos to explore the Grotta Azzurra and Isola Bella, enjoying hidden bays, coral-inhabited caves, and crystal-clear waters for snorkeling.
Very beautiful island! I wasn’t allowed to enter because I was wearing just my bikini top and shorts, swimwear is not allowed. Be aware that the ground is covered in pebbles, not sand, so water shoes are highly recommended.
Alexandra D — Google review
I took the Funivia down from Taormina-10 euro for a round trip ticket, departs every 15 minutes, and the 4 carriages can hold 48 passengers. After you're down at the station, you take a short walk down a road with a small shoulder past shops to find the staircase on the seaside of the road. The stairs are a bit deep and may be challenging for children or those with mobility issues. There is a hand rail. Folks selling merchandise line the staircase. Walk past the beachfront bars, restaurants and chairs for rent to find a very pebbly, crowded beach. Lots of ladies walking around trying to sell you massage. I didn't make it across bc I was on a time crunch and it was too busy. Worth the stop in the off season- I'm not sure it'd be worth coming down in the summer. Really a beautiful spot, but just as enjoyable from above. I'd recommend finding one of the sandier beaches just north of town.
Kat B — Google review
Crystal clear water, fishes easily seen at shallow water without snorkelling equipment. Got shower facilities and umbrella rental. Be careful of the rock at the beach and seabed. Some review suggests you need to pay to get in, but we cannot find any ticket office at the beach, which seems to be an open area free for access.
Lydia C — Google review
Beautiful island but keep in mind lots of stairs to reach it and it is a very popular place, so itll be very full and also the water is very shallow, rock shoes recommended. Also there is a few beach clubs if you wish to but also not necessary. Showers at the beach are also available and working if you would like to remove salt. There are also boat tours that will take you out.
Carlos G — Google review
Absolutely stunning place! 🏝️ Isola Bella is a real gem of Sicily — beautiful nature, crystal clear water, and views that look like a postcard. It’s a protected area, so everything feels wild and untouched. Perfect spot for photos and relaxing by the sea. Just a heads-up: to reach the actual island, you need to walk across a pebble beach and then wade through shallow water. It’s not deep at all, but the stones are very slippery, and I made the mistake of wearing regular sandals. Ended up slipping and cutting my foot on the rocks 😅 So I’d really recommend wearing water shoes — especially if you’re visiting with kids. Totally worth visiting, just come prepared and enjoy this magical spot!
Victoria R — Google review
A magical place — a must-visit! You can reach the island by boat from Stresa — round trip costs about €10. The island is small but absolutely stunning. The Borromeo Palace is truly impressive — luxurious interiors, marble, frescoes, antique furniture, and artwork. Everything is beautifully maintained, and each room feels like a museum. The garden is like a fairytale: cascading terraces, fountains, statues, white peacocks, and breathtaking views of Lake Maggiore. It’s incredibly well-kept and perfect for a peaceful walk or photos. 💡 Useful info: • 🎟 Entry to the palace and gardens is about €20. • ⛴ Boats from Stresa depart every 15–30 minutes (€10 round trip). • 🕰 Mornings are the best time to visit — fewer crowds. • 🚻 Toilets, cafés, and seating areas are available. • 📷 Fantastic photo opportunities, a relaxing and inspiring atmosphere. 📍Isola Bella is a magical blend of nature, art, and aristocratic elegance. Absolutely unforgettable!
Julia — Google review
The beach is nice but the water is very cold. The good thing is the big place that you have as “public space” so you don’t need to pay for umbrella to stay all day here. To go inside the “Isola Bella” island (natural reserve) you need to pay 6 euros per person, and you can go inside only without “swim clothes”. You need to know that in this area to arrive in Isola bella, it’s chaotic to find a place for car, so it’s impossible to park, if you pay 20/25 euros per day, you have private parking close to the beach but I think it’s very very expensive. So I recommend to go here without the car if you can.
Daiana C — Google review
Beautiful beach, stunning nature, crystal clear waters. Boat trips around Isola Bella are a must. Even if it gets crowded, the scenery makes it absolutely worth it.

Parks
Villa Comunale di Taormina, also known as Parco Duca di Cesaro, is a charming destination for leisurely strolls through beautifully landscaped gardens offering stunning views of the sea and the city below. Originally designed by Lady Florence Trevelyan in the late 19th century, this picturesque public garden features native Mediterranean and exotic plants, ornamental pavilions, and fountains.
Villa Comunale, Taormina is a true gem nestled in the heart of the city — a peaceful, beautifully landscaped public garden that’s the perfect escape from the bustling streets. We visited this week and were blown away by how serene and charming it is! The garden paths wind through lush flowers, ancient olive trees, and stone terraces that offer stunning views over both the Ionian coastline and Mount Etna. It’s a wonderful spot for a leisurely stroll, a quiet moment of reflection, or even a picnic with those breathtaking vistas. Clean, well-kept, and almost radiating old-world charm, Villa Comunale is an oasis of calm. We especially loved the shaded benches, the gentle fountain sounds, and the sense of history all around. Highly recommend a visit early in the morning or as the sun begins to dip — the lighting and atmosphere create an almost magical mood. A lovely way to pause, breathe, and enjoy one of Taormina’s best-kept secrets.
Luciano B — Google review
This city park is really lovely and very pleasant to walk around. There’s plenty of space with wide paths and lots of benches, perfect for sitting and enjoying the surroundings. The greenery is beautiful, a mix of palm trees and regular trees, and in the late afternoon when the sun starts to set, it looks especially nice. There are small fountains with fresh drinking water, several decorative fountains, and even a historic building adding some charm. There’s also an outdoor gym with various exercise machines, though a few of them are slightly damaged. A few small vendors sell ice cream, drinks, or snacks. From some spots in the park you can enjoy views of the rocks and the sea. There’s a playground for children and overall it’s quiet and peaceful, a great place to relax and spend time outdoors.
Stormson — Google review
Wonderful place! Such tall cacti there so beautifully placed. We took a lot of pictures and the sea view was amazing. Totally worth to come back to Taormina.
S T — Google review
The park was stunning. We made sure to dine close by so we could wander back after nightfall and experience it in a different light. Darkness didn’t make it unsettling—it felt timeless, almost like walking through a preserved moment in history.
Sasa S — Google review
The Villa Comunale, Taormina is a beautiful gem tucked away that we came across while wondering through the city. It is filled with so much history and serenity. It's so calming and quiet. My boys even played on the little playground in the middle of the park. Picturesque ocean views can be seen at certain points and there are tons of photo opportunities throughout. A great family place to just stroll through after the hustle and bustle of the center city to gather ones self before dinner or even early in the morning. This is a must see on your itinerary.
Angela I — Google review
Such a gorgeous and unique place! Definitely visit, you won't regret it. It's absolutely stunning and has amazing views over the bay
Lyndsey D — Google review
Sit here a while. Let the silence speak. In this suspended garden above the sea, even time forgets to hurry, between the sky and the Ionian Sea, Villa Comunale feels like a secret garden dreamt by someone who once loved too deeply. Built upon the vision of Lady Florence Trevelyan, an English noblewoman who found exile and rebirth in Sicily, the park carries her quiet longing — a dialogue between stone, sea, and solitude. Walking through its shaded paths, you move through fragments of her memory: terracotta towers draped in ivy, benches kissed by sun and time, and the whisper of jasmine carried by the wind. Every corner feels like a page of an old diary — half-forgotten, yet still alive. Then, as you reach the terrace, the world opens. Below, the coastline curves like a sleeping myth; beyond, Mount Etna breathes faint smoke against the horizon. You can almost hear the sea humming — a slow, endless hymn that has watched lovers come and go, artists paint and dream, and strangers rediscover the beauty of stillness.
Bel Z — Google review
Wonderful park on walking distance fron the center of taormina. Beautiful large trees and lots of cozy benches and shadow places to escape the heating sun. The view is amazing too. There are a few old buildings that remain from the english garden era. Also there is a great playground for the youngsters among us. The park is very well maintained.

Chiesa Madonna della Rocca is a historic chapel nestled into a rock, offering stunning views of the sea and city. It's part of the attractions in Taormina, which include Isola Bella, antique shops, Corvaja Palace, Piazza IX Aprile, and more. The church provides an intimate setting for ceremonies amidst medieval charm. Hotel Villa Sonia nearby offers classic luxury with modern comforts for wedding accommodations.
Set on hillside above taormina walk up several hundred steps to reach this church cut into side of rock. On way up get fabulous views of taormina and etna. The church is free to enter and quite small but still worth the hike up. Close by what looked like some old wall ruins couldn't get too close to these.
Steve D — Google review
The church itself is a nice place to visit. The rock inside is unique. Free entrance. We weren’t able to access the gardens at all. The views are worth the walk up from Taormina. Not too difficult and rewarded with great views of the city, ocean, and Mount Etna. You can keep going up to the castle from here as well.
Eric T — Google review
If you're in Taormina, you definitely have to make the climb up to Chiesa Madonna della Rocca. It's a bit of a hike (or a short drive), but the views from up there are absolutely incredible. You get amazing panoramic shots of Taormina and the coastline. The church itself is pretty unique, built right into the rock. Totally worth the effort for the scenery! The entrance is free.
Marina B — Google review
It's breathtaking! A church carved into the rock. To get there, you have to climb a good 120 meters (there's a Way of the Cross along the way), but it's worth it! The view of Taormina from above is incredible, especially at sunset.
Radosław L — Google review
Beautiful, scenic walk with about 120 meters of elevation gain via a staircase, with statues on each turn depicting the story of Jesus’ suffering – step by step (pun intended). At the top, you’re rewarded with a stunning view of the town below and Mount Etna in the distance. A small monastery (likely Catholic) is open for lighting candles. Entrance is free. You can climb a bit further up behind the kiosk for an even better view towards Etna.
Daniel J — Google review
There is not so much to see inside the church, but the view from the top is amazing. You can also buy some water & drinks above. To reach the top, you need to either to hike or you can take a cab/car to go there from another side of the mountain.

Bar
Cafe
Bam Bar is a laid-back spot in Taormina, Italy with a relaxed atmosphere and an artsy feel. It's known for its outdoor seating and specializes in serving traditional granita. The bar gained attention when the popular Italian musicians Il Volo praised it as having the best granita in Sicily on their Instagram. This endorsement caught the attention of many, including those who previously believed that the best granita was found in Syracuse.
The granite is incredibly good—definitely the best I’ve ever tasted. They are fresh and full of flavor. The brioche is also excellent; it was warm, suggesting it was freshly baked. The bar can get quite busy, with a long queue and a wait time of 30 minutes or more. However, I would recommend waiting because it’s definitely worth it to taste this delicious food.
Michele M — Google review
This bar is the ultimate experience for Taormina and Sicily in general. I feel like you can’t visit this city and not go there. The granites are so delicious, the fruits they make them with are super fresh and we also saw the delivery happen! You do have to wait in line but since the serving is mainly the granite no one sits for more than 20-30 minutes so you will be sat in 15 minutes. I went in the busiest time of August and we expected to wait much longer than that. The service is nothing more that what you need, they show you your table and come after a minute so you can order and nothing more than that. You just get your granites and then pay. The best part is th decoration, it is so pretty inside and outside, full of lemons giving you the full Italian vibe you want for the summer. I 100% recommend!!!!
Nassia K — Google review
Came here in the early afternoon time and there was a line already but no worries as we got past the line after about a 30 min wait. I had the coffee granita with a very soft and good tasting brioche bun and my wife had the chocolate granita also with a brioche bun. If you happen to close by, I say give this a try 👍🏽
Krammer A — Google review
The best granite in Sicily! The brioche was so delicious, the granites were so many - you have a big choice and they were very fresh with true fruit in it! The espresso was perfect too. The prices are very affordable - granite with brioche is around 6 euro. The biscuits with chocolate was good too. We came at Wednesday at 16:00 there was a queue but we didn’t wait more than 15 minutes. The atmosphere is very authentic. The service was very good too.
Дени А — Google review
We had to Q here but only approx. 10 mins. We were given the option of sitting inside or outside. It had been raining but outside is covered so we headed there. We ordered the famous Granita with brioche. Strawberry & cream and Almond & coffee. The brioche buns were huge. All was delish 😋 Reasonable cost also, service was smiley and fast and atmosphere was lively.
Christina F — Google review
There’s a reason for the line. Hands down the freshest most delicious granite in all of Sicily, friendly service. Warm brioche. Highly recommend the almond it is king. Best breakfast on planet earth. Go early or late to avoid crowds but don’t be afraid to wait it’s well worth it. Love.
Brendan A — Google review
Outdoor seating…. Great granite and brioche …. Lovely place to have a snack ….this is the place to go for your granites. There was a little queue .. but we didn’t wait too long.
Zee L — Google review
I did my research before coming to Taormina and ended up at Bam Bar. The decor was so beautiful and I snagged an outside table. They only had a few ice flavors, as they make more as the day gets going, but I selected lemon and strawberry with cream. I had it the traditional way, with brioche, a must! I also got a cappuccino. It was all so delicious and I will cherish the experience forever!

Palazzo Corvaja is a medieval palace in the city, featuring a courtyard adorned with Christian reliefs and serving as an exhibition center. The palace has a rich history, with its initial cube-shaped tower built by the Arabs for town defense. Over time, it expanded to become the seat of the Sicilian Parliament, showcasing a blend of architectural styles including Arabic, Norman, and Gothic. After being abandoned post-World War II, it underwent renovation to preserve its unique characteristics.
Corvaja Palace, which is located in Piazza Badia at right angles to the church of Saint Catherine of Alexandria, The origins of the palazzo incorporate an early Norman fortress dating from the 12th-14th century, which in turn was constructed on Roman foundations. It was subsequently added to over various periods up until the 15th century. Its main body is an Norman-style tower, and it has an inner courtyard where the Gothic influence can be seen in the arched windows and doorways. A 13th century staircase leads up to the first floor and an ornamental balcony which overlooks the courtyard. In 1410, Corvaja Palace housed the Sicilian Parliament.[1] It was renovated in 1945 by Armando Dillo, and as of 2009 it is the seat for the Azienda Autonoma Soggiorno e Turismo.
Homa — Google review
Palazzo Corvaja is on our right, shortly after entering Taormina from Porta Messina. A beautiful, comparative building, it combines different architectural elements, Arabic, Catalan, Gothic, Norman. The central tower is of Arabic construction from the 10th century, while the rest of the building was built in parts between the 13th and 15th centuries. It has a special arched entrance and a very beautiful internal courtyard with a staircase that ends in an internal balcony before the entrance to the 1st floor. The special architectural double and triple arched Arabic windows stand out, the sections of which are separated by small intermediate columns. It took its name (Corvaja) from one of the oldest and most famous families in the city, which owned it from 1538 to 1945. Today it houses the offices of the Sicilian Tourism Agency (APT).
John D — Google review
This palace dates from medieval times. The architecture presents different elements and styles. It was the prinary residence of the Corvaja family up until 1975. Now this historic monument houses a museum with exhibits from history and the tourist information office. From Taormina you get a good view of Mount Etna. Once a testament to the town's Greek origins, it now serves as a venue for entertainment events such as opera performances and concerts featuring international celebrities.
The queens performance is amazing. The feel is stunning. It’s really nice to see such an ancient architecture to still be used as it was designed to be that function——as a theater. The structure of that architecture make sure that the voice is echoed with grace. The view of the Bay and the mountain Etna or combining with the beautiful architecture and the wonderful performance. Really enjoyed on my time here..

⭐ A truly extraordinary site. The Ancient Theatre of Taormina is stunning — its size, location, and breathtaking views make it unforgettable. The setting is fantastic, especially with the sunlight shining through the old stone arches, creating a magical atmosphere. The ticket price is around €14–15 per person, which may feel a bit high, but it’s worth it. We planned to stay for a short visit and ended up spending about an hour, simply because the place is so peaceful and makes you want to linger. A must-see in Taormina. 🌿

Brilliant piece of history and still in use today. Not overly priced and the views are fabulous on a good day. We spent 2 hrs going around in the late afternoon so it wasn't too busy or to the point, too hot. Take a breather and soak up all the beauty that surrounds you and watch as the stage hands prepare for the evenings musical event. So glad we did it and would recommend it to you all while here in this beautiful part of Sicily.

One of the most stunning ancient sites I have ever visited, with fantastic views over the Ionian Sea. We had a guided tour which I would thoroughly recommend as it was really interesting to understand a more in depth history of the site compared to the information boards on site. Our tour guide was an archaeologist and her enthusiasm for the subject was palpable. Great cafe/bar on site with great views and draft beer!

At 16 Euro entry its an absolute steal. If you enjoy history and unbelievably stunning views you cannot go wrong. It is probably the most photographed spot in Sicily. Carved into a natural amphitheatre there was 5400 spectator seats. Built in the Hellenistic style in the 3rd century BC with Later Roman additions. Also referred to as the Greek theatre due to this part of Sicily at the time being a Greek colony.

Another must see place to put onto the list when visiting Sicily. Greek theatre is an atmosphere of ancient ruins with great views over the city of Taormina, Ionian sea and mount Etna. The price was €16 per adult, it was quite quiet, not overcrowded - maybe because we were there right at opening just after 9am, and it was November. But even then weather was great. Fantastic views!

Here's a polished version of your review: This location is truly breathtaking, with its stunning scenery. However, the prices are steep - we paid almost $50 for a family visit that lasted only 15 minutes. On the plus side, there's a convenient free shuttle from the parking area, and the walk to the attraction isn't too long. We visited with a stroller and toddler, and managed okay. Long line to buy tickets, original website didn’t work for me to buy tickets in advance.

Nice to visit just to sit on top of the sitting area and enjoy remarkable view towards the stage with panoramic view on Mount Etna in the background. The designers knew their job back then in 300 BC.

The Duomo di Taormina, also known as the Cathedral of Taormina, is a historic medieval Catholic church located in the heart of Taormina. Built around 1400 on the ruins of a church from the Middle Ages, it features a grand arched interior with elaborate statuary and a Latin cross plan with a trio of aisles.
Lovely church in the heart of Taormina. Particularly beautiful just after Easter. Walk in and you are hit with a wall of floral perfume. The decoration is very typical of the style of building but well worth a visit.

Romanesque The Cathedral of Taormina (Duomo di Taormina), located at the heart of Piazza Duomo, is a striking blend of medieval austerity and Sicilian charm. Built in the 13th century and later modified, its fortress-like exterior contrasts beautifully with the elegance of its interior. The rose window and baroque elements add a unique touch to the otherwise Romanesque structure.
Onbarefeet — Google review
This medieval cathedral is very nice and beautiful. It has a handsome rose window. There is some renaissance artwork around. The exterior looks like a stronghold. It was/is known as the fortress cathedral. There is a Baroque fountain opposite in the piazza. You can see Mount Etna from outside the church. Nature preserve
Isola Bella, also known as the Pearl of the Ionian Sea, is a small island located near Taormina in Sicily. It is a nature reserve with a rocky beach connecting it to the mainland. The crystal-clear cerulean waters surrounding the island make it an ideal spot for snorkeling. Visitors can rent lounge chairs and enjoy the picturesque views while soaking up the sun.
Amazing place. We snorkeled here, saw crabs, starfish, coral, beautiful fish and sea urchins. There is a lookout at the top, it is also worth seeing the bay from there. It was an experience of a lifetime. Further inland, there are small caves in the rocks, and it is worth taking a boat trip.
Ramóna V — Google review
Isola Bella is so beautiful and rich in history. The house/museum has so much character that it’s just so nice to sit and take it all in. Such a beautiful building and scenery. My only downside is that the beach gets so crowded that it didn’t make me want to swim and the cost of sunbeds is atrocious! I got charged €100 for 2 sunbeds which I declined. I of course do not blame anyone for the beach being too busy as there is no one to blame for that. Overall I really enjoyed the museum and scenery. It was a beautiful morning out.
Lily M — Google review
Beautiful spot for photos and crystal-clear water, but the beach is rocky, very crowded - water shoes are highly recommended. Worth seeing once, but not really a place for relaxation - book a boat tour… escape the crowded
Carolins O — Google review
The place is amazing but can be very crowded with people. Do to the many tourists, the area and the beach and water has plastic and left behinds. If they are free, rent a peddle board at the diving centre in the left corner of the beach. You will have a better view of the whole area and can swim more freely.
Paulas G — Google review
Beautiful beach. Very rocky so you might want sandals or water shoes. There are umbrellas and chairs along e The beach but they cost a whopping 40€ per person. You can choose to just stay in the regular part of the beach and just put towels down
Mikey — Google review
A must if your in the area. Beach is rocky, water shoes were a lifesaver. Spent a few hours and that was perfect. Not a far walk from the gondola 🚠 ( sky lift )
Dam I — Google review
We did not buy the tickets but wanted to enjoy a beach day on the emblematic Isola Bella. There were a lot of people, but it was worth it. There are showers, and there is possibly to rent a beach mattress, however no changing rooms. Recommend taking water shoes since it’s a rock beach.

Perfect beach for snorkeling, suitable for all ages. There are shallows for young ones to play in and also quite deep areas around the base of the island for more adventurous adults. Plenty of space even on a busy weekend day. Absolutely perfect water and by nature good shelter

The Odeon in Taormina is a compact archeological site dating back to 21 BCE. It features the open-air remains of a small Roman theater, located near the Church of Saint Catherine. The site also incorporates a wall from a temple dedicated to Zeus, which was later converted into the present structure.
The Odeon is a nice little archeological site near downtown Taormina. There are remnants of both a temple from 250 BC and an Odeon from 100 BC. The site was very accessible to the public and I was able to freely walk through the ruins. It doesn’t take too much time to explore. There’s a sign giving some information about the ruins. If you’re walking around Taormina, this is a great site to quickly check out.
Frenite — Google review
Wonderful to see that places like this are free for people to experience. However, there HAS to be a person there to keep tourists from littering and using the corners as toalets. The site of this importance needs to be maintained better. Also, please let street musicians use the area for live music, that would be a perfect combo...
Tomislav K — Google review
A close-up view of the Roman Odeon in Taormina, Italy — ancient brickwork and stone seating reveal the intimate scale of this Roman-era theatre, tucked quietly behind the bustling streets, echoing with the cultural legacy of Sicily’s layered history.
Onbarefeet — Google review
Nice small archeological monument of a rare type, interesting and worth a quick visit. However, it's pretty built in by the surrounding houses, which makes its original state hard to imagine. There's just one table with a few explanations at the entrance (Italian and half length in English only), which isn't very detailed. This could be improved, as could the signposting, as I didn's see a single sign pointing towards this somewhat hidden site. Entrance is free by the way, the area is open from 09:00 to one hour before sunset.
Heinrich A — Google review
Yet another amazing structure rich with history. This little theatre used to be the edge of the town before they built up a huge wall to the east. The views would have been incredible. It’s similar in a lot of ways to tested antica but with some key differences as it was Greek in original construction (I think)
Gregg V — Google review
Awesome place to come, with a view of the whole city and the coastline on both sides that is hard to see elsewhere. The theatre is also very well kept itself and seeing the coastline through its center is very cool. Would definitely recommend this as a must do spot if you come to Taormina.

If you find yourself wandering the charming streets of Taormina, make sure to stop by Antica Rosticceria Da Cristina for a true taste of Sicilian cuisine. This delightful eatery specializes in arancini, those irresistible rice balls filled with savory cheese, meats, and vegetables that are far more delicious than they might sound.
Found this local delight by accident and towards the end of our stay in Taormina. The variety of street food is fantastic and tastes amazing AND is well priced for what you get, only had the Arancini which were €4 roughly for each one. Great for filling our 16 year old son either before or after dinner. We had the Ragu and Burro arancini which were the best we've had. Served hot, they were lovely and moist and my son loved the Burro one the best (cheese and ham). The pizzas and pastas looked amazing. We also tried a locally brewed beer Tauro Beer which tasted amazingly fresh with hints of lemon/hops. Service was fantastic and staff were helpful and patient with lots of tourists questions. Would highly recommend. We had our food by the counter but there us an outdoor area to eat in.

A wonderful bistro in the heart of Taormina! Excellent fresh and truly Italian food, prepared very quickly and at fair prices. The staff is incredibly kind – when we were leaving, the smiling chefs even waved to us from the kitchen, which perfectly completed the whole experience. You can enjoy your meal inside, sit right in front of the restaurant, or take it away. I definitely recommend it to anyone who wants to experience true Italian atmosphere!

We had an amazing experience at Da Cristina! From start to finish, everything was perfect. The service was friendly, attentive, and genuinely welcoming, making us feel right at home. The food was absolutely delicious — every bite bursting with authentic flavor. The pistachio pizza was out of this world, rich, creamy, and perfectly balanced, while the arancini were golden, crisp, and full of mouth-watering goodness. The pasta 👌 You can really taste the love and passion that goes into every dish. It’s rare to find a place that nails both flavor and hospitality, but Da Cristina does it effortlessly. Highly recommend — we’ll definitely be back!
Aaron F — Google review
We had a very good experience at Da Cristina. The pizza was quite good and the arancini were excellent, definitely a highlight. The pasta, however, could have been better, as it was a bit cold in some parts. Despite that, the overall quality was very good and the atmosphere enjoyable. Worth a visit if you’re in Taormina!

Squisito! Last time we only tasted the arancini, and this time we tried the cuisine. Arancinis are great, but definitely try the food too. (And follow the recommendation!)

If you happen to find yourself in Toarmina, Sicily please DO NOT walk past this takeaway. It was recommended to us by our local tour guide and she was right on the money. The arancini and pizza was delicious! What you see in the photo cost €11 which to me is great value. Unfortunately we were only on the town for 2 hour or I would have been back here for more. We were there at lunch time so it was really busy but service was really fast. You take a number from a dispenser at the front of the shop and when your number is called you move forward and get served. They have a small seating area too. I can't recommend highly enough. Really great tasty food at a very reasonable price. Don't miss it!

Grand Hotel Timeo, A Belmond Hotel in Taormina is a luxurious hillside retreat with elegant rooms and suites offering stunning views. The hotel boasts a spa, outdoor pool, and is surrounded by over two hectares of Mediterranean vegetation. Renowned for its exceptional dining experiences, the hotel features the Michelin-starred gourmet restaurant Otto Geleng, serving chef Roberto Toro's creations on an elegant terrace overlooking the panoramic views.
An absolutely outstanding five-star hotel and experience in every respect. I booked our final night at Grand Hotel Timeo as the culmination of my fiancée’s and my Italian adventure, with the intention of proposing during our stay. From the very beginning, it was everything I hoped for—romantic, intimate, and truly special. The property itself is stunning, with beautiful private gardens, a serene pool, and exceptional restaurants and bars. The breakfasts were delightful, and every detail of the hotel felt refined yet welcoming. What truly set the experience apart, however, was the concierge and staff, who went above and beyond at every stage—from the initial booking and proposal planning to ensuring every moment of our stay was unforgettable. We enjoyed every second of our time at Grand Hotel Timeo and are already planning to return for a full week next year. For us, there is simply no other place to stay in Taormina. Five stars in every category—we cannot wait to come back.

Our stay at the Grand Timeo Belmond was nothing short of extraordinary. From the moment we arrived, the staff welcomed us with warmth, care, and genuine hospitality that immediately made us feel at home. A heartfelt thank you to Noemi and Giulia, who went above and beyond throughout our stay with attentiveness, kindness, and attention to detail were exceptional. They made everything feel seamless and special. We’re also grateful to Enzo and the rest of the team whose friendliness and professionalism added so much to the experience. The entire team made us feel truly valued. To our complete surprise and delight, we were upgraded to the Presidential Suite, and it was absolutely incredible. From the expansive private terrace with panoramic views to the elegant interiors and luxurious touches throughout, it was a lifetime experience for which we are so grateful to the team for as each morning and evening spent there felt like a dream. The hotel’s surroundings lush gardens, views of the sea and Mount Etna, and the charm of Taormina at your doorstep created a setting that felt timeless and serene. We left feeling we had experienced something truly special and already planning our return!
Anton S — Google review
We recently visited Belmond Grand Hotel Timeo in Taormina for drinks. While the hotel itself is stunning, the service experience we received was not aligned with the standards expected from a 5-star property, especially one associated with Belmond and the LQ (Leading Quality) standards of luxury hospitality. My husband had called the day before (Friday) to make a reservation at the bar, but was informed that bookings are not accepted and only walk-ins are allowed. We therefore arrived on Saturday around 6:30 pm, three of us (my sister, my friend, and myself). Upon arrival, the hostess kindly welcomed us, but told us the terrace was full and offered us a table inside. To our surprise, the table had only two chairs. My sister and I ended up sharing one chair, and despite staff noticing, no one offered to bring us a third chair. For a property under the Belmond brand, and one that claims 5-star service, this lack of basic hospitality was very disappointing. After half an hour, we were finally seated on the terrace and our order was taken. The bartender was professional, explained the drinks nicely, and the complimentary gourmet arancini was a pleasant touch. The hostess and the chef outside were also attentive and warm. Unfortunately, the positives stopped there. When we asked a waiter if someone could give us a quick tour of the hotel — something we have always experienced in other luxury hotels, including Belmond in London — the response was simply: “I am busy, not possible, ask reception.” This was blunt and unprofessional. At reception, the answer was that the garden tours are reserved for in-house guests only, with availability only on Tuesdays (though free of charge). The way this was communicated made us feel like second-class guests, which is the opposite of what luxury hospitality should embody. Overall, while the drinks, terrace view, and a few members of staff (bartender, hostess, chef) were excellent, the overall service experience was disorganized and inconsistent. Instead of feeling welcomed, we left disappointed and undervalued something that should never happen at a Belmond property. Belmond Grand Hotel Timeo remains a stunning venue, but staff training is urgently needed to ensure service matches the brand’s reputation for world-class hospitality.
Rossella — Google review
Our stay at the iconic Grand Hotel Timeo was the highlight of our Sicilian vacation. From the moment you step onto the property, you’re transported into a dreamlike world of lush gardens, breathtaking views, impeccable service, and delightful surprises. The hotel exudes effortless glamour—at times, it felt like we were living in a classic Hollywood film. Our room offered stunning views of the sea, Mount Etna, and the charming city below. But what truly sets this hotel apart is the exceptional team behind it. The service we received was, without a doubt, the best we’ve ever experienced—five stars simply don’t do it justice. The staff genuinely cares about their guests. When I accidentally spilled tea on my scarf, Giovanni immediately offered to have it dry cleaned. Breakfast was a standout—easily the best we’ve ever had. Rosa greeted us each morning with warmth and hospitality that made us feel right at home. Massimiliano, the General Manager, is clearly so passionate about what he does. He’s doing an extraordinary job leading the team and maintaining the hotel’s high standards. We can’t wait to return and wholeheartedly recommend Grand Hotel Timeo for your next vacation.

Absolutely loved our afternoon at Bar Timeo! The views are breathtaking and the atmosphere is pure magic. But what really stood out was the incredible service—Fabio made it unforgettable. He was friendly, professional, and had the most positive energy. Do yourself a favor: go, enjoy the sunset, and let Fabio take care of you. He’s the reason we’ll be coming back!

At the far end of Corso Umberto, where the street narrows and the air begins to smell faintly of sea salt and espresso, stands Porta Catania is more than an entrance it’s a threshold between centuries. Step through, and you don’t just enter Taormina; you enter a whisper of history that still remembers you. The southern gate of Taormina. Built centuries ago, it has watched the town’s stories flow through like a living river of footsteps, laughter, and memory. Pass beneath its arch and you feel the shift from the modern rhythm of cafés and boutiques to the slow heartbeat of medieval Sicily. The gate’s basalt stones, darkened by Etna’s breath, still hold the warmth of the sun and the voices of those who once passed through: traders from Catania, pilgrims from afar, lovers sneaking back at dawn. Look up the coat of arms of Aragon still rests above the arch, a reminder that this island has belonged to many, yet always remained its own. From here, if you turn around, the mountains cradle the horizon; ahead, the old town unfolds like a woven tapestry of gold and ochre.

Porta Catania is one of the main medieval gates of Taormina, built in the 15th century under the Aragonese rule. Its coat of arms, with the Aragonese shield, still decorates the facade, marking the town’s historical connection with that era. The gate formed part of the city’s defensive walls and served as the entrance leading towards Catania. Today, it remains a well-preserved monument that reflects the strategic and architectural importance of Taormina during the Middle Ages."l

Please do not come to this place. I came around 8-9pm and was told it was full and come back around 11:30pm - 12:00am so we did around 12 and the hostess didn’t even look at us to talk to us. She told the bouncer not to let us in at all. And the bouncer was very rude, didnt have the littlest bit of respect. No eye contact, no hello, no nothing. Out of 106 countries i’ve been to this is the spot that I felt the most disrespected. A little sorry its full tonight would do or a little hey there is a big minimum spend or something. Cause there was clearly still available opening on the website with a minimum spend. As simple as telling us that with a bit respect would be nice. So please don’t come here.

This bar is absolutely beautiful and perfect for any evening out in such an amazing location. The staff are very kind and welcoming, and the chic, stylish interior adds to the charm. The atmosphere is truly unique and relaxed, with music that isn’t too loud or overwhelming. Not many places can match this style. It’s ideal not only for a romantic night out over drinks, but also for a variety of celebrations, from birthdays to bachelorette parties. Reservations are recommended; however, even during high season we were able to book a table for the next day and there were still seats available.

A place with scent of challenge for folks that oppose minimum spend policies and seek for quick cheap thrills. Very quircky, with differetiated decour; cocktails are nice, stylish and smooth; music for sophisticated ears. Worth visiting.
Tamara P — Google review
From start to finish it was nothing but a disappointment. It cost 50€ each for my friend and I to enter which included one small very average drink. The interiors were nice however all seating areas were cordoned off, stood over by security guards and “reserved” despite most being completely empty. There were 2-3 seats outside of these areas and nothing else so we were left standing despite paying such a ridiculous price for entry. The music was bland, the crowd was older and the atmosphere was dull at best - so if you are are visiting Taormina and looking for even an ounce of fun this certainly wouldn’t be the place to go, in fact I’d do your best to avoid it entirely.

One of the best pizza restaurants we’ve been in Sicily. We ordered Le Due Sicilie, with crispy bacon that made the pizza unforgettable. Both the indoor and outdoor areas are cozy, and you can even watch pizzas being baked in the stone oven outside. Service was very quick and the staff lovely. They have clean facilities too. Definitely worth seeking out, tucked in its little corner of Taormina.

Had to try the pizza due to all the great reviews and it didn’t disappoint (too much). Loved the crisp of the crust and the toppings were so good (salami, sausage, sun dried tomatoes, cheese). The only criticism is the sauce which could have been more flavorful. We’ve been eating pizzas in Italy for two months now and this was our first in Sicily, and we thoroughly enjoyed them. We also got the eggplant parmigiana and that was fantastic. Definitely recommend if you’re looking for some good pizza.

We stayed near Taormina and were really craving pizza, so we went to Villa Zuccaro on a recommendation. At first, we thought we had walked into a tourist trap: the village is stunning but absolutely packed with visitors, parking is tricky, and the restaurant itself was huge and full of tourists. That said, service was quick and efficient, the menu was very varied, and the pizzas were excellent — tasty, well made, and exactly what we were looking for. Prices were fair too. By the time we left, the place was filling with locals, which reassured us that it’s not just a tourist spot but also popular with Italians. Overall, a solid choice if you’re in Taormina and craving really good pizza.

Remarkable place. Some of the best pizza we’ve ever had. Gorgeous setting. It’s also really cool seeing them make pizzas in the outdoor oven. Extremely affordable too. Most pizzas are between €15 and €20.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ We had a fantastic dinner at Villa Zuccaro in Taormina! The atmosphere is warm and welcoming, and the staff is attentive and friendly. There’s a great selection of local beers, and the starters were delicious and generous. The Neapolitan-style pizza was outstanding – perfectly baked and full of flavor. To finish, the tiramisu was flawless and the white chocolate mousse an elegant treat. Highly recommended for anyone looking for authentic food and excellent service in Taormina!

My husband and I came here via cruise ship bus transfer from Messina and are so glad we did! We only had about 3 hours in town, and eating pizza was one of our goals! We were the only customers when we arrived at opening time for lunch. Service was prompt and we were allowed to sit outdoors in the shade. We ordered 1 white and 1 red pizza. They were both delightfully crispy and fluffy and flavors delicious. We enjoyed the red one more because we prefer the tart tomato flavor. We wish we had more time to stay and eat more in town, but unfortunately had to go back to our cruise ship. We still think about this pizza from time to time.

One of Taormina’s top-rated pizza spots, and for good reason. The setting is beautiful, with a charming courtyard centered around a massive wood-fired oven. Inside, the oven has a stone turntable that slowly rotates each pizza for even baking, a mesmerizing touch that shows real craftsmanship. Pizzas come uncut, as locals prefer to eat them with a knife and fork. The crust was exceptional. It had pillowy edges with a light crunch on the surface and a tender, chewy interior. Perfectly blistered and full of flavor. A great spot for a relaxed evening in Taormina with authentic Sicilian pizza done right. Highly recommend grabbing a table in the courtyard to watch the oven in action.

Wonderful experience! I went with 2 friends. I have gluten and dairy/ lactose allergies and the staff were VERY accommodating and well informed. I ordered a gf df pizza and it was DELICIOUS! Atmosphere is great, super lovely venue and the staff were SO NICE and SO HELPFUL. Service was excellent. Highly recommend. My friends ordered pizzas as well and they also are every mouthful! Indoor and outdoor seating, inside is well air conditioned - ladies, maybe bring a cardigan. Pizza, water and a drink for under €25 pp

Al Saraceno is a charming restaurant located above Taormina, Sicily, offering stunning views of the town, Mount Etna, and the Gulf of Giardini Naxos. Situated near the historic Madonna della Rocca church, it provides a picturesque dining experience. The restaurant features a warm and rustic ambiance with a fireplace and a scenic terrace where guests can savor delicious pizza cooked in a wood-fired oven along with Sicilian specialties such as fresh fish and meat dishes.
By far the most stunning view I’ve ever had while eating a meal. In mid-June we began dinner at 7:15 and enjoyed watching the sunset behind Mt. Etna for the entirety of our meal. I was worried that with such an amazing view to attract diners, the food would be ok at best, but the food lived up to the setting. The risotto was terrific, so fragrant and the prawns tasted like the best lobster you could imagine. We had the pana cotta for dessert which was the perfect treat and a delicious cappuccino to savor the last bits of sunset. My tip: take the long walk up the stairs from Taormina central to get to the restaurant. You’re treated to jaw dropping views the entire time and it makes the meal all the more delicious and will give you a great story to tell.

If you are up high in Taormina then you should definitely visit the restaurant. Food was excellent, in the top 5 of all the places we ate in Italy. The views are pretty nice as well.

In June my husband and I were celebrating our 30th Wedding Anniversary. We were so blessed to find and experience this restaurant. The view was like no other we have ever experienced. The food was delicious and was presented like a piece of art. Not once did we eat there but twice. The owner made us feel like we were family and for that we are so grateful and will return. The owner Paul and his family have such pure beautiful souls and hearts which created a beautiful experience. Paul & Lisa

Unreal experience. We hiked up to grab dinner here one night and it was totally worth it. We showed up without a reservation at 7 pm and they gave us a table. The views are incredibly and the food is top notch. The owner and his workers were great and service was really good. Highly recommend coming here.

Such a beautiful dining experience for our final night in Taormina. From the views to the staff and the food, everything exceeded our expectations. Lobster pasta in particular was great, with prices being fairly reasonable too. I highly recommend a visit particularly if you want to get slightly out of the main part of town for a night.

I often ask myself wherever I would go back to the place/restaurant again and I would definitely return to this restaurant not just because of the breathtaking views but also exceptional service and mouthwatering food. Osteria Rosso Divino is a charming restaurant located in the heart of Taormina, Sicily. Established since 1869, it holds a historical significance and offers a cozy courtyard dining experience. The restaurant is known for its seafood pasta, grilled meats, and daily fish specials. Managed by Sicilian sisters and their friends, the place exudes warmth and hospitality. The open kitchen with blue and white tiles adds to the inviting ambiance.
I’m shocked this place doesn’t have traction. It was fabulous. It’s tucked away on a little side street and it has the most charming vibe with candles and low lighting. The service was excellent and the food was so delicious.

This place is a bit hard to find, but we were welcomed with open arms. The staff was very friendly and did their absolute best to make us feel at home. The dinner started good with an appetizer that tasted really good, but the Main course was a huge dissapointment. I had the gnocchi which tasted okey and my girlfriend chose the fresh fish. The waiter talked a long time about how they could prepare the fish and we were convinced that this must be an excellent choice. But when the fish was served I could see the dissapointment in her eyes. The dish was so bland and had hardly any taste. 47 euro for that dish alene, not worth it to say the least. But the staff was so nice that we couldnt bare to tell them that the fish was awful. If you plan to go here, dont choose the fish, you will probably have a better experience if you choose another dish.

The best food and wine we’ve had in Taormina so far. Primarily a fish menu, and everything we ate fish or otherwise was exceptional. The staff were brilliant and made a huge effort with our two year old daughter which we appreciate. Note for others, our child’s dish which was altered / smaller, was still charged at full price.

This restaurant was the best in Taormina and among the best in Sicily. The owner seated us and explained the menu and described the food in such a luscious manner I wanted the entire selection. The owner clearly is passionate about high quality food and service and it shows in her enthusiasm and the quality of the meal and overall experience. Service was amazing and the staff was really on point! Owner gave amazing wine recommendations to pair with the food. The seafood sampler appetizer was the best I’ve ever had, so fresh! Location is to die for, a few streets away from the main Corso Umberto so not noisy, and the atmosphere was a very old world feel, very romantic as well. This restaurant is really at the top of their game and owner and staff showed us true Sicilian hospitality and quality. I would return to Taormina literally just to dine here!

Tucked into a candle-lit square off the Main Street in Taormina, our meal at Rosso Divino was exceptional. Local Sicilian wine and a whole snapper cooked two ways were the standouts of the meal. The service team was friendly, helpful and highly professional. If you’re looking for a special meal out in Taormina that is worth the price-tag, 10/10 would recommend.
Hannah K — Google review
The food and service was exceptional. The best meal we have had in Sicily (which says a lot). This is a restaurant not to miss if you enjoy quality food. Make sure you book (we did the night before) as it is very popular. Jacqueline and her team will provide a meal to remember!

A great place for lunch if you love great fresh local seafood. Our host was very helpful going through the fresh catch of the day and finding the perfect wine pairing for your order. A seafood lovers dream.
Travis M — Google review
The service was genuine and warm, and they weren’t pushy to upsell. I appreciated their clear explanation of the catch of the day, including the offer to have the fish prepared in two ways: Sicilian capers and sultana stew, and homemade breadcrumbs. The fish was fresh and perfectly cooked. Kudos to the service team and chef!

We stopped here by chance for lunch while exploring the area — and what a discovery! It felt like stumbling into a Michelin-star experience. We ordered from the lunch menu and were blown away: the appetisers were beautifully balanced, and the pasta was simply fabulous. The anchovy pasta, in particular, is not to be missed — a perfect mix of flavor, finesse, and Sicilian soul. Highly recommended.

Phenomal service and food. Incredibly professional service from the waiters and staff. The polpi "Pop Corn" was perhaps the best squid I've ever had. Just a perfect experience from beginning to end. 10/10. No notes.

Wanted a true pasta experience while in Taormina. According to google , ** rating of this place wasn’t bad, and it wasn’t busy , so I tried it. Service was amazing and so was the food, although for what I wanted there were not many pasta options, but the spaghetti was very tasty and well presented. It is not casual pasta eatery - this was fine dining .

Absolutely incredible. Deserving of a Michelin star (or two). The set lunch had three stunning courses and three unique amuse (much to our surprise). The service, attention to allergy (celiac/gluten free), and the originality and quality of the food was outstanding for the price.

We nearly cancelled our reservation as my partner can be a little fussy and wasn’t sure by the menu… very glad we didn’t! Our favourite meal during our week in Taormina. Every dish was a culinary surprise - nothing was as you might expect. Highly recommend the aubergine starter and red tuna main. Subtle delicate tastes with unexpected garnishes - it was really refreshing from the typical rich carb food in Sicily! The little bites in-between meals were a lovely addition - I suspect it reflected the chefs love for food and the experience he wants to offer at this restaurant. Service was excellent - relaxed and friendly. For such gourmet food, there is a no stuffiness or snobbery - so don’t be put off if the menu sounds fancy! It’s a wonder this place doesn’t have a Michelin star!

Villa Sant'Andrea, A Belmond Hotel, Taormina Mare is one of the two luxurious hotels in Taormina by the esteemed Belmond hotel group. Originally built by a British aristocratic family in the early 20th century, this hotel exudes warmth and intimacy. It boasts a private beach overlooking the Bay of Mazzaro and an enchanting open-air restaurant where guests can savor Sicilian delicacies while being serenaded by the sound of waves.
The hotel is beautiful, with spacious rooms and a stunning view of the ocean. The bed was incredibly comfortable, and the bathrooms were large and well-appointed. The service was exceptional — the staff was helpful, attentive, and very friendly throughout our stay. The restaurant was outstanding. The food was absolutely delicious! I highly recommend the pizzas — totally worth trying — as well as the beef tartare and the ravioli, which were both excellent. Definitely an experience I’d love to repeat

An absolute incredible Experience. Atmosphere, staff, food and drinks. I can simply not recommend a venue higher than here. We wished we had stayed at the hotel as the gardens, decor, architecture and friendly staff was an experience like no other. Thank you and we will be back !

We had a fantastic stay at this hotel. The service level by all the staff was excellent. The room was adequate recognizing we were staying by the water and not at the main hotel. That being said, we had full access to the main property at the Belmond. The included breakfast was exceptional and the beach and pool areas were great spots to hang out. Our most memorable experience was dining at the main restaurant with a view of Mt. Etna - simply magical. We would stay at this hotel again without question.

There are simply no words to truly express how memorable our experience at the hotel was. The room and the view were absolutely outstanding! Every member of the team was incredibly attentive, ensuring a high-quality, personalized experience from start to finish. The Beach Club and the boat excursion were definite highlights of our stay — unforgettable moments that made this trip truly special. Without a doubt, this is a place we will be returning to!

We arrived with grand plans. Sicily stretched before us like a promise—temples to visit, mountains to climb, baroque cities demanding attention. We had itineraries. We had guidebooks. We had intentions. The Villa San Andrea had other ideas. The gardens are luscious in that particularly Sicilian way, where bougainvillea and lemon trees conspire with the Mediterranean light to create a kind of sensory seduction. Ancient rock—and in Sicily, “ancient” means something—frames the property like a geological reminder that humans are temporary and limestone is patient. The rooms are exquisite, which is a word one uses when “nice” feels insulting and “beautiful” insufficient. The staff welcome you not with the rehearsed enthusiasm of hospitality training but with something that feels dangerously close to genuine warmth. This is suspect. One does not trust such things immediately. And yet, day after day, they persisted in being actually helpful, actually kind, as if they had not received the memo that this is the twenty-first century and such behavior is optional. The food. Let us speak of the food. It was delicious in the way that makes you angry at every other meal you’ve ever eaten. Fresh fish that had been swimming that morning. Pasta that understood its purpose. Tomatoes that tasted like the Platonic ideal of tomato, as if all other tomatoes had been merely practicing. And so we stayed. Day after day, we discussed leaving. Tomorrow, we said. Tomorrow we’ll visit Siracusa. Tomorrow we’ll see the Greek theatre at Taormina. Tomorrow we’ll be tourists with purpose and ambition. Tomorrow never came. Or rather, it came, but it found us in the gardens, or on the beach, or at the table, held captive by comfort and good food and the radical notion that perhaps grand plans are overrated when you’ve stumbled into perfection. This is the tyranny of truly excellent hotels: they make you accomplice to your own inertia. We had come to see Sicily. Instead, we saw the Villa San Andrea. Extensively. Thoroughly. Repeatedly.

All that mattered to them its on how to serve us even better. The accommodations in every aspect was absolutely next level. This place is impressive!!!!! My wife and I have just finished a five night stay at the Sant Andrea to celebrate our honeymoon. To say we are impressed would be an understatement. We had initially been hesitant to book owing to the very high price, however on reflection it was worth every penny. The hotel itself is spectacular, spotless and feels very luxurious. The location is fantastic with a great stretch of private beach and wonderful views seemingly everywhere you look. The service was like nothing we have experienced before, attentive and friendly without being pushy or intrusive. The food is also of the absolute highest quality in all of the restaurants. It was also an excellent feature to have access to the sister hotel (Grand Timeo) more central to Taormina via free shuttle. We could not recommend this hotel more highly to anyone considering staying here!

The property is gorgeous and ideally located on Taormina’s main pedestrian street, and the staff was exceptional! The young women who checked us in were friendly and helpful, and we enjoyed talking to Manuel in the bar (ask him to show you his amazing photos of an erupting Mr. Etna) and Antonio at breakfast — he makes the best cappuccinos in Sicily :-). My husband and I had reserved a room for one night at this hotel to celebrate our 15th wedding anniversary—a meaningful occasion for us, as we were married in Taormina. This was also intended to be our first stay at your property. Unfortunately, just two days before our check-in, my husband became seriously ill, making it impossible for us to travel. I immediately contacted the hotel to explain the situation. While I fully understand the terms of your cancellation policy, I still requested both a refund and, alternatively, a voucher—given that the room was fully paid and likely to be resold without issue. The responses I received from staff members Chiara and Mariapia were cold, dismissive, and entirely devoid of empathy or professionalism. At no point was there any real consideration for the circumstances or even a basic attempt to offer a gesture of goodwill. Their tone reflected a clear disinterest in customer care or long-term guest relationships. Many hotels—with far higher reputations and star ratings than yours—extend vouchers as a standard courtesy in similar situations. It’s a basic practice that acknowledges the value of customer loyalty and human decency. Sadly, this hotel appears more concerned with rigid policy enforcement than with building any form of goodwill or trust. In hindsight, the real mistake was ours—for expecting a level of service and compassion that this establishment evidently does not provide.

A special thanks to Manuel and Antonio for their impeccable service and the wonderful conversations about Italian life, and to Laura for making the best omelettes! The breakfast spread was unbelievable, with fresh, delicious options every day. The rooftop terrace was a true highlight – relaxed, peaceful, with stunning views over Taormina. Our room was beautifully serviced each day, the bed was super comfortable, and the luxurious bedding made for a perfect night’s sleep. We went twice!! Can’t recommend this restaurant highly enough. Calm music plays, view is beautiful, all waiters are amazing they go above & beyond. When we mentioned the three of us were sharing all meals they actually split them up for us onto our own plates, gave great wine recommendations and did not rush you out of the restaurant. Very happy.

A truly authentic hole in the wall beautiful spot with the most incredible food in all of Taormina. Start with the tempura fried cod and the tempura zucchini and thank me later. The pasta was beyond fresh with incredible flavors and no guilt. The involitini was chefs kiss. Wish I had another night to dine here again and will remember for future visits. Exceptional service and remarkable food what more can one ask for.

A small traditional place. Etna white wine was EXCELLENT. Mixed raw fish dish was terrific! Caprese salad was delicious. Sea Bass, though wasn't cooked well or was made from a frozen fish and didn't match the level of the rest.

A Taormina Gem – Don’t Miss It! Trattoria da Nino was a highlight of our time in Taormina. The food is outstanding, fresh, authentic Sicilian dishes full of flavour with a smart, well curated wine list that features excellent local selections. The sea bass was perfectly grilled, tender and full of flavour. We were lucky enough to be seated on the terrace with beautiful views. Warm, welcoming service made it even more special. A family run gem that feels truly local. Highly recommend, don’t leave Taormina without eating here!

We stopped by this lovely restaurant from our walk from the main bus stop in Taormina to our airbnb. Their fresh oysters were so good! The fried squid aka calamari, was chewy and tasteless. I was a little disappointed and I won't order it again. The bolognese pasta was very nice. Otherwise, it's very nice restaurant. I highly recommended.

Fantastic restaurant, ambiance is great, staff is more than amazing & don’t get us started on the food which was exactly what we were looking for! Super tasty, like this is how you want to eat Italian food! Would love to come back 1 day again! We have Truffle pasta, Aglio e olio, Carbonara & Fish dishes as well. All fantastic!

Nestled against the stunning backdrop of Mount Etna and Naxos Bay, Ristorante Timeo offers a delightful dining experience with a menu featuring authentic Sicilian dishes made from locally sourced ingredients. Guests have raved about the breathtaking views of Taormina, which make it an ideal spot for enjoying a meal or drinks. The attentive service provided by staff members like Andrea and Sanziana has left visitors impressed, enhancing their overall dining experience.
We had a wonderful experience here. I don’t understand the negative reviews. Definitely recommend coming here for the beautiful location. The service was very good. The sommelier Daniela gave us a beautiful recommendation for a Sicilian white. Food was great.

The two stars are awarded to the bartenders for their consistent, well-balanced, and delicious drinks. However, the food was disappointing at best. I would never return for the food, but I would definitely go back for the drinks. Just so you have an idea, the olives served with the drinks were the highlight of our meal.

Agree , typical in Europe, business owners don’t care too much about the service and food if they already bought or rented expensive land with a great view! Very typical. Ps in my opinion , if I’m in this business, I would taking a great view as a challenge to offer the same high level of service and food …

0/10 – Come for the view, stay for the disappointment. We came here to celebrate our elopement, should’ve eloped to a better restaurant. Took 25 minutes just to get a drink menu and another 10 minutes to get a wine menu, not sure why they don’t bring them all out at once. They were out of lobster for the lobster pasta (y’know, the whole point of the dish), so they offered shrimp. What I got was one sad, undercooked shrimp. One. And I’m pregnant—raw seafood is a no, which I told them. They took it back and returned with cold pasta and half a shrimp. My husband’s wine showed up after the food. Once he was finished with his food that is. Service? Seven different servers, zero actual help. After being asked four times how things were, I finally told the truth—cue the guilt trip. The view was gorgeous, the rest? A hot mess on a cold plate. Taormina has so many better spots. don’t waste your appetite or euros here.

When I booked this restaurant I was afraid because of the reviews here (google), but I really like this restaurant! The food was so good! I had the scampi and after the sea bass and it was amazing! The waiter was really friendly and the view is awesome! I’m in love with this place!!!

This is a review for the BAR Timeo, only next door. We started off with cocktails and ended up having a full on meal. The setting is very romantic with views over Taomina and Etna. They were playing live music until late and atmosphere was very relaxing. Highlight was the service and especially Fabio our server who has gone over and beyond to make sure we were looked after. The steak was perfect and the pasta and chevice super fresh. Highly recommended!

The Church of Saint Catherine of Alexandria, also known as the Church of San Giuseppe della Pia Societa Salesiana, is a restored Catholic church with baroque architecture and a small bell tower. It was built in the late 17th and early 18th centuries and features a facade made with Taormina marbles of different colors.
The Church is beatifull and the historic design and pictures are worth the visit!

Opposite Palazzo Corvaja we find this small but beautiful Baroque church. It was built in the 17th century, partly on the pre-existing Roman Odeon, which in turn was built on an ancient temple of Aphrodite. The church stands out for its special Baroque entrance, in which pink marble from Taormina was used. Above the entrance we see the statue of Saint Catherine of Alexandria. Inside, the spiral columns and beautiful oil paintings stand out.

The Church of Santa Caterina, built in the 17th century, stands on the ruins of a small Roman theater, traces of which can still be seen nearby. Dedicated to Saint Catherine of Alexandria, it reflects Baroque style with elegant details. While not as grand as Taormina’s cathedral, its historical layers — from Roman to Baroque — make it worth visiting. A charming stop, though relatively modest compared to other monuments in town.

Casa Cuseni is a stunning villa in Taormina, originally built by UK architect Robert Hawthorn Kitson and adorned with frescoes by British artist Frank Brangwyn. This elegant B&B offers artist-themed rooms and suites, many featuring sea-view balconies and is surrounded by landscaped gardens. Once the center of Taormina's cultural and intellectual world, it attracted famous visitors like Bertrand Russell and Greta Garbo.
My husband and I stayed at Casa Cuseni for one week to celebrate our 20th wedding anniversary. We could have stayed so much longer, it’s the most beautiful place to visit. The house is a museum in itself with so much art history. The views from the house are all breathtaking, enjoy your morning coffee with the best views of the Ionian sea and Mount Etna. You’ll receive the warmest welcome from the owners and Maria, too, they couldn’t do enough to make sure we had the best stay, can’t wait to return next year!

Stayed here for 2 nights! Beautiful views of Etna and Taormina. Intoxicating perfume from the garden. Walking distance to the town. Most importantly our host, Maria was great with recommendations and stories of the property.

This doesn't feel like a hotel, you feel welcomed as a close friend. The hotel is set in beautiful terraced gardens and has a view which is absolutely breathtaking. The house itself is full of interesting art and artifacts and you really do feel the history as you walk through the rooms. The bedrooms are very clean, spacious and original. The staff were fabulous! Thank you for a wonderful stay.

We stayed for approx. 1 week in the Greta Garbo suite. We took the museum tour first thing when we arrived (starts at 11:00 every day) which was very nice as we got to know the rich history of the place before enjoying our stay there. Overall we were extremely happy with our stay at Casa Cuseni. The staff is extremely nice and helpful, the breakfast is very good (better than most other hotels I’ve visited), the garden is great, the swimming pool which soon will be finished looks great, and the list of positive things keeps going on. Also, it was surprisingly easy to get to the beach - there were shuttle buses (tuktuk style) picking us up in the morning and dropping us off when we’d had enough sea for the day. The cost for this was included in the sunbed price at Lido La Pigna of 30 EUR per person for the day. We found this beach to be very nice and worth the price. In summary, we were very satisfied with our stay and we look forward to visiting Casa Cuseni again sometime soon!

If you have an interest in history and art then this is the place for you in Taormina. And if that wasn't enough then there are some spectacular views over the town with Mount Etna as a backdrop, all surrounded by fantastic gardens and a soon to be commissioned swimming pool. Casa Cuseni will not provide you with a typical hotel experience for which Taormina has plenty to offer if that is what you are looking for. But what is does provide is character and loads of it, from the artefacts and works of art in every room (including the bedrooms which are very well proportioned), to the breakfast which is simple but wholesome, to of course the staff who are fantastic whether it be providing you a guided tour of the museum to recommending local restaurants. Things of note, Casa Cuseni is built into the mountains side and therefore on multiple levels. There is lift to assist and there are plans to install a lift from the parking area up to the house, which will save lugging cases up and down the hill. Additionally the town is below the hotel, so easy to walk down to dinner, not so easy walking back up, although there are taxis available in the town itself. Parking was easy and where necessary your car will be moved to a secure offsite parking. It's also work remembering that every penny goes towards maintaining the museum and its grounds for future generations. You don't get that at your average Hilton!
Richard R — Google review
I don't have words for Casa Cuseni - truly one of the most wonderful houses I have ever seen let alone stayed! The rooms, gardens and museum are so steeped in history and breathtaking, and the view across Taormina from the Greta Garbo balcony is second to none. On our first night we sat on the balcony and watched lava flow from Mt Etna, a once in a lifetime experience. We loved that the house is a little above the tourist epicentre of Taormina but the perfect place to access everything. Magdalena, Maria, Francesco and - apologies! I have forgotten the lovely chefs name! - were so warm and friendly. If we had our time again we'd book more nights here. Highly recommend and then some.
Josephine O — Google review
Casa Cuseni is a world treasure and it is amazing that you can stay there. It was built in 1905 by wealthy orientalist artist Robert Kitson, and it quickly became a refuge for famous artists and intellectuals who stayed there. We stayed in the Picasso suite where there were many of Kitson’s works hanging on the wall just as he had left them. Some of the paintings are badly in need of preservation efforts, however. The view, the history, and the atmosphere really appeal to a type of person. Not those who want the most modern and convenient places, but those who want to immerse themselves in history and hear the echoes of those who came before. We really appreciated all the staff and their conscientious and kind attention. All the best to them and success to their efforts.

Our stay was an unforgettable experience, and we cannot recommend it enough!! The location is fantastic; every room has a view of the ocean, Etna, and the breathtaking garden. You can easily walk to the Taormina city center in no time. All the staff members were so kind and welcoming. We learned so much about the property's history from the guided tour and are very happy to be part of the conservation of Casa Cuseni.

Porta Messina is a stunning arched gateway located at the far end of Corso Umberto street, serving as an entrance to Taormina's historic center. It was inaugurated in 1808 by Ferdinand IV of Bourbon and is also known as Porta Ferdinandea. This gate, along with Porta Catania, marks the entry points to the pedestrian thoroughfare of Corso Umberto.
We signed up for a cooking class with Paulo! It was the best thing we did during our trip, and it was entirely down to how lovely an experience Paulo made it. We learnt how to cook lots of dishes (and importantly eat them after) and it was such a fun experience. The group we were with were lovely and it was a great way to meet people too if you’re a solo traveller. This is a must if you’re staying in Taormina.

We went for the Sicilian cooking class and it was the best decision ever! Paolo was so great! He made sure that we had the best time, he included everyone and was just really fun overall. The dishes turned out delicious and we even got some limoncello and canolli. Thank you😊

This gate is the entrance to the old town located to the north. It was inaugurated by Ferdinand I of the two Sicilies/ Ferdinand IV of Bourbon. Tourists don't always walk all the way from gate to gate, but they should pay attention and do so. The shops on the main road between the gates charge at a tourist price. You can get dinner like pizza to eat and/or a glass of wine nearby. There's a cooking class somewhere around here too. Follow the IG link in profile for more travel and food and drink tips, ideas and reviews!

Food was okay. Nothing extraordinary but service… not good at all. We wanted risotto instead of pasta and asked if we could change pasta with shrimps for risotto with shrimps. Of course he said sure but never mention the plate was double the price. We ended paying each 35 euros for each plate of risotto. You can find better restaurants in Taormina, very good, an amazing risotto and half the price of this one and we good customer service like Trattoria Tiramisu, that one is a 5 stars

Taormina. The wonderful, chaotic, colourful and mesmerising town. Perched high on a cliff, the small shops entice you to buy, the smells of food make your mouth water and the narrow, intriguing alleys make you want to explore more. It's a tourist trap town but us tourists will do tourists things 😂 A must visit and the Arancini there are something not to be missed.

The hotel's traditional Sicilian charm is reflected in its century-old architecture and 49 individually decorated rooms, suites, and villas. Its stunning garden with summer flowers, lemon and orange trees, along with an outdoor pool, provides a beautiful setting for relaxation.

DO NOT book with this hotel, there are better deals out there with a more accommodating room. The website booked my reservation for a month before my intended stay and I did not receive a confirmation of this until the stay took place which it was too late to dispute. I arrived to the hotel speaking via email beforehand being told I would have accommodations for a second night at another hotel or partial refund but did not receive any assistance whatsoever. I disputed with my credit card and the hotel provided documentation that I signed for a “voucher” and would have to pay the full price of two nights when I only received one. Very unprofessional of the hotel establishment to say also that I “erroneously” booked the stay for July when clearly it was the reservation website’s UI that reverted the date to July and then give me ZERO confirmation when booked so I didn’t have any knowledge of what I even booked for afterwards. Hopefully this review is seen and right measures are taken where I do get my deserved money back and it’s not just kept because they will “lose money” like they told me even though the hotel was fully booked :)

We loved our stay at Hotel Belvedere! The hotel is in a great location to walk into town and it’s very easy to get a taxi down to the beaches or train. Overall, we had a good experience at hotel Belvedere but not great/exceptional. It has many perks - the location, the reception desk being helpful, the daily cleaning service, the breakfast, and the views. However, there are flaws that hinder the experience. We stayed in the apartments up the road from the hotel, which we actually enjoyed, the view was definitely superior to the hotel room views. However, it’s a studio, and the WiFi is terrible - so expect smaller, and difficult time connecting to internet. The pool area is nice but incredibly loud from the road infront of it - buses constantly honking, motorcycles zooming by, and landscapers trimming hedges made it a bit unpleasant. Lastly, we were a bit shocked by the rudeness of the workers at the lunch bar by the pool. We only had lunch here once and asked for a small adjustment to the toast sandwich and we overheard two of the workers mocking us and shaking their heads. It literally says “or create your own” on the menu. Everyone else was very pleasant and professional making our stay nice. The wifi also did not work consistently by the pool. Overall, we had a good experience but i would not say it’s a 5 star hotel. I’d give it 3.5 stars.
Jack S — Google review
excellent location A few minutes away from town, which makes it really nice and quiet at night but then when you wanna go into town, it’s very walkable. The rooms were beautiful. The staff was super helpful and the breakfast was nice considering it was included.

Cristian, what relentlessly arrogant response to what SHOULD have been a review that you took as a way to improve your short comings as a hotel. We decided to choose your hotel to take advantage of the benefits of on-site amenities, so being ushered to a building down the road was NOT what was expected. The truth of the matter is that your postings online show photos of INSIDE the hotel. Not a separate facility that your team manages. Contrary to your belief that we didn’t express our concerns, you are 100% wrong. Within 1 hour we visited the reception desk to explain that we were not happy with the accommodation and that the listing you created online was misleading. If you think it’s OK to post an English listing with CRUCIAL information only in Italian, that is simply terrible judgement. Your representative at the front desk had one solution ONLY, with no exceptions — change rooms the night before we leave. Not wanting to cause trouble within the hotel, we gave up our pursuit of our desired room. There were TWO occasions, not only one, where other guests were complaining about their rooms — one quite loudly as a matter of fact, right at the front desk. You should have these details if you care about the satisfaction of your guests to the level that you make it seem. Thank you SO much for absolutely cementing the fact that we would never recommend your hotel with the poor, poor attitude that you offer and the inability to own up to substantial and obvious mistakes. Good luck with your Airbnb.
B K — Google review
Perched on the hillside overlooking the sea, the hotel has a charm that comes from being built 120 years ago - solid, spacious, and beautifully finished. Its floors tumble down the hillside, surrounded by an abundance of greenery. The breakfast choices are many, and excellent, and the staff are very friendly and efficient.

In the charming city of Taormina, Sicily, visitors can indulge in a wide array of culinary delights while exploring its rich history. One notable historical site is the Naumachia di Taormina, a remarkable red brick facade dating back to the Roman era. This monumental structure features 18 major niches and numerous minor rectangular niches, spanning 122 meters in length and reaching a height of 5 meters.
A hidden but very beautiful space in the center of Taormina.

Nice little detour away from the main Corso Umberto leading you down a shady walk with nice planting and Greek and Roman remains. Keep going to the far end and you'll come out at Via degli artisti and the Bam Bar (be prepared to queue).
Rob R — Google review
Great little tucked-away diversion while exploring town. I saw sources that listed it as 1st century BC and also 2nd century AD. In any case, a historic treasure from Roman times. Apparently fountains were in the arched niches and statues of gods and heroes were in the rectangular niches.
Rebecca R — Google review
Very cool historical landmark in Taormina. Seemed to be a gathering place, with big alcoves where statues may have been. I wish there had been some more information about it right in that area, but there were only a couple of signs. Tickets were not needed when we visited.
Simon T — Google review
The red brick wall and rectangular niches are a historical monument. The Roman fixed construction dates from around the 2nd century. The name suggests this was part of a naval battle, but it was not and was never used to stage production of such water shows. It functioned as a retaining wall for the terrace on top of it. The garden is pretty. In the middle there was a large water cistern. Follow the IG link in profile for more travel and food and drink tips, ideas and reviews!
J L — Google review
Unearthed only in 1943, the Naumachie are a long red brick facade from the Roman era. The monumental succession of 18 major niches interspersed with minor rectangular niches is appreciable. All for a 122m long by 5m high elevation. There are several hypotheses on its use, certainly there is that it was not used for the representation of naval battles (contrary to its denomination); more likely it was a Gymnasium, that is, a place to do gymnastic exercises.

Immerse yourself in the culinary traditions of Sicily with a cooking class at Taormina's Chef Massimo. Spend a delightful morning learning to prepare authentic Sicilian dishes under the guidance of a master chef. From selecting fresh ingredients at the local market to crafting homemade pasta, you'll gain valuable insights into traditional Sicilian cuisine. After the hands-on cooking session, savor your creations during a cheerful lunch and engage in discussions about the flavors and techniques you've experienced.
With my best friends we always say that the best way to get to know a place, the culture and the people is through FOOD. The cooking class with Chef Massimo was the perfect experience to get to know Taormina and get a taste of proper Sicilian cuisine. The dishes were SO GOOD! Probably the best meal I had on this trip. The vibes were vibing. The sun was shining. The recipes were DELICIOUS. Everything from A to Z was perfect and I would do it again in a heartbeat.

The stunning views from his home added an extra touch of magic to the day, and we were fortunate to share the experience with such wonderful people. It was truly a highlight of our trip. Thank you again for such a memorable experience!

From start to finish, the experience was fun, interactive, and full of laughter. Chef Massimo’s great sense of humour and lively personality kept us entertained while making sure everyone felt confident in the kitchen. We didn’t just follow recipes, we learned the secrets, traditions, and little touches that make Sicilian food so special. The hands-on approach meant we could really connect with the ingredients and techniques, and the final dishes were absolutely delicious. It was more than just a cooking class, it was a warm, joyful journey into Sicilian culture. Highly recommended for food lovers of all levels!

Well let me tell you how excited I am to write this review!!!!! We had several choices for cooking classes and we were blessed to have hit the buy button on Viator to buy the Chef Massimo experience… The communication on where to meet and timing was fantastic we got a What’s up call from Chef Massimo on the morning of our class and from that call the experience was 5 star.. We met under the arch on the entrance to the main shopping. In Taormina where Chef took us on a field trip to a local Veg/flower/fish market and caught the merits of buying the right ingredients and what to look for, then off to an old school butcher shop on how to correctly select the meats.. And then off to the cooking class location that you couldn’t even think about dreaming up.. Of this set of stairs to this exquisite roof/Cliff hanger of a Home with a view of the sea to die for… Step inside the most welcoming, clean, state-of-the-art cooking area and you were transformed immediately Into chef mode!! Chef Massimo is a consummate professional, making sure everybody is part of the class And part of every recipe preparation, From hand made Italian sauce, The Best fresh mussels I’ve ever eaten,, To fish prepared with a Mind blowing sea salt preparation, To homemade pasta… I just don’t want to give it all away… You will have to book to find out the rest of the recipes, The attention to detail, the support staff Incredible. The meal at the end Five star worthy… and the endless glasses of wine, incredible camaraderie with our fellow students, And most impressive the amount of time, Chef Massimo spent treating us like we were part of his family…. His knowledge in the kitchen is vast, the bang for your buck on this adventure is so worth the money don’t hesitate to book. It was the highlight of our trip to the Taormina area by far!!!!! Thank you Chef for all of your hard work Making sure we understood each and every detail of every recipe we have taken several cooking classes in the past none have been as hands-on and professional as yours. Embark on the Etna Tours Taormina by Sicily Legend for an unforgettable experience. The tour offers a delightful exploration of Taormina, allowing you to savor local delicacies and discover the city's treasures. With knowledgeable and friendly guides like Marcello, you'll gain valuable insights into Mt Etna, even in changeable weather conditions.
Booked a Godfather tour on September 27th for my family through this company. We were a group of 5 people, including myself, my husband, my mom and my two kids, ages 5 and 8. We had the pleasure to be with Rosario on this private tour. He came to grab us in front of the Taormina train station in a Mercedes Sprinter van. From the moment we met Rosario, we knew we would be in great hands. He is very charming, passionate and full of knowledge. As an avid fan of the movie myself, we could feel his passion through and through. The tour was everything we expected and more, and Rosario offered a lot of insight that are not exactly known online or corrected some misinformation online. Often, as he was speaking on the movie, I felt myself overwhelmed with emotions and had to pinch myself. Rosario is very well known in the community, people love him, which made our experience even better. He was patient, attentive, generous with his knowledge and gave us the best tour we could ever ask for. We felt like true locals, indulging in a cultural experience that we will remember forever. My kids really enjoyed the tour, even at such a young age, they knew this one was truly special. Thank you Rosario🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽

What a fantastic experience for my mom(88) and myself. Our guide Joe was fabulous, friendly and full of knowledge about Etna and the environment. Being on Etna visiting different parts to see lava flows, walking down into a crater and up the other side for panoramic views was epic . Also, the visit to the lava tunnel was just an amazing experience and feeling to be where lava had actually flowed through-mind blowing! At all times Joe was just a brilliant guide and took great care of my mom and nothing was too much trouble. The company were also very communicative and answered any questions I had promptly. A great company and a great guide and I’d totally recommend.

Fantastic tour of Etna with Rosario. He is so enthusiastic about the volcano, its history and geology, and really knows how to explain things. He took us to a number of stops on the way up to the volcano which were so interesting. He made sure everyone in the group was going at their own pace and was open to the questions that we all asked. We never felt rushed either. I highly recommend this tour.

we found Rosario, the local owner by searching out a local tour guide. we looked into get your guide, viator and a couple of other big companies but you can’t compare someone who has generations of local family roots like Rosario touring you around Sicily which he knows like the back of his hand versus a big company guide that has read and studied an area for maybe a year or two. Rosario from start to finish was easy to contact, prompt to get back to us, gave us exactly what was promised in our case a direct hotel pick up not some random meeting point where when in a new country you might be unfamiliar or anxious about where to go. a detail of all of Taormina history along a beautiful scenic ride to Siracusa and Ortigia. Rosario also shared personal accounts from his deep family history in Taormina and all over Italy as his family has had some incredible experiences ! it truly made us feel at home as we toured he also new all the best spots for food, great pictures to capture and suggestions for us after the tour was over to not miss out on. we loved our day trip from Taormina to Siracusa & portions so much , we booked a second trip to etna with him along with an airport transfer. feeling safe in a foreign country is a huge priority for us and it felt like Rosario was always a text away . I highly recommend you use Rosario and his company , they were above and beyond our expectations .

We absolutely loved the Mt Etna tour — it was such an unforgettable experience! Everything was perfectly organized from start to finish, and we truly enjoyed every moment. A big thanks to our guide Angelo, who was incredibly informative and friendly. He made the whole experience even more enjoyable with their knowledge and friendly attitude. We had a fantastic time and would definitely recommend this tour to anyone visiting the area. Thank you again!

Wow – what a tour! Veronica is the ultimate guide. From the moment of our early morning pickup, she set a friendly and lighthearted tone for the day. Veronica is incredibly knowledgeable about Mt. Etna and the surrounding area, and her stops along the way felt unique and off the usual tourist path; it truly felt like a first-hand experience. The lava tube exploration was definitely a highlight! She was so patient as my husband practiced his Italian, even gently correcting him when needed. Highly recommend Veronica and this tour if you want an authentic and unforgettable experience.

Corso Umberto is the vibrant heart of Taormina, stretching approximately 800 meters between the stunning arches of Porta Messina and Porta Catania. This charming pedestrian street is a delightful blend of history and modernity, featuring beautifully restored medieval buildings that house an array of designer boutiques, quaint souvenir shops, cozy bars, and inviting restaurants.
One of the most beautiful downtown like roads I’ve experienced. Highly pedestrian focused and rife with cafes, retail stores, restaurants, gelaterias, piazzas, few amazing scenic spots, everything you can look for. I came during Christmas hence the Christmas decor which looked amazing. There is really good food all across the corso and hidden books which all are worth exploring.

We immensely enjoyed walking and shopping at this unique stoned Main Street of the enchanting medieval village of Taormina. There are shops for clothes, shoes, and souvenirs; as well as restaurants and bars. I particularly love the chocolate store Nina & Friends and the Capricco Gelateria.

The main road runs through the old town from Porta Catania to Porta Messina. The pedestrian street is full of cafes, bars and places to buy souvenirs. There are plenty of luxury designer shops around too. There's churches to visit too. The buildings have prettily decorated balconies. Off one end of the road you can visit the teatro antico di Taormina. Follow the IG link in profile for more travel and food and drink tips, ideas and reviews!

Embarking on a Mount Etna tour is an unforgettable experience, especially given its status as one of the world's most active volcanoes. Just over an hour from Taormina, this majestic giant towers at over 11,000 feet and has dramatically increased in height due to frequent eruptions. The breathtaking views from its summit are simply mesmerizing, making it a must-visit destination for any traveler. For those seeking a unique perspective of this natural wonder, consider the Etna Sunset Tour.
Our experience with Davide on the Mt. Etna tour was nothing short of exceptional. From the moment he picked us up at our Airbnb in his spotless, air-conditioned van, it was clear we were in for something special. Davide was not only a knowledgeable guide but also a gracious host who tailored the excursion to perfectly fit our interests. His ability to engage both the adults and our kids made the entire journey through the volcanic landscapes incredibly educational and enjoyable. He shared fascinating insights about the volcano, the unique soil, local flora, winemaking processes, and the rich history of the region, all with a passion that truly brought Sicily to life for us. We were so impressed by Davide’s expertise and warm hospitality that we decided to book him for a second day of wine tasting. The memories we made during our time with Davide are some of the highlights of our trip to Sicily. We cannot recommend him highly enough!

We had a great morning with Davide! He's a fantastic tour guide, so knowledgeable and passionate about Mt. Etna. Definitely recommend him!
Kay H — Google review
Our guide Davide was outstanding. His English is excellent and the communication pre-booking was very clear and helpful. We did a 5-hour afternoon tour from Taormina and thoroughly enjoyed learning about the fascinating Mount Etna and experiencing the beautiful, relaxing and mercifully cool environment (it was 15 degrees cooler at 1800m elevation than in Taormina). The pace of our hike was very leisurely and the terrain very manageable on good paths. Davide was an amazing font of knowledge on Etna, volcanoes generally, on the surrounding area and on Sicily. This tour was a real highlight of our trip - highly recommended!

Davide was absolutely amazing. We booked this tour four months ago yet be emailed us the evening before to confirm the tour and the pick up time. He was extremely prompt and reliable and picked us up from our accommodation and dropped us back off. During the drive up to Etna, he was informative and gave us some great info on Sicily, Etna and little towns along the way. The hike was extraordinary. He was so patient and super informative. He helped take some great photos of us and made us feel very safe and comfortable. We loved our tour with Davide and couldn’t thank him enough. 1000000% recommend this tour with Davide!
Diana A — Google review
We communicated with Davide in advance of our trip to arrange to take our family of eight on an active, 4-5 hour hike on Mt Etna, plus a visit to Alcantara Gorge. We enjoyed his company and expertise so much after that first experience that we hired him again later that week to take us on a half-day trip to Savoca and Forza d’Agro. Davide is a true expert on Etna and the region and does a great job of sharing his knowledge and passion with his guests. Our family asked a million questions, and he always responded with clear, thoughtful answers. He’s highly trained in safety and rescue, which made us all feel totally comfortable on the volcano. Plus he’s just a truly likeable guy. On top of touring us around, Davide directed us to a fabulous restaurant in Forza d’Agro, where we enjoyed a wonderful lunch together. If you want a rich, active Etna experience, Davide is a great choice.

Italian Opera Taormina offers a world-class opera experience in the charming town of Taormina, Italy. The performances feature talented young performers who deliver enthusiastic and professional renditions of famous operatic selections. The intimate setting allows for a personal connection with the music, and VIP seats provide an enhanced experience. During intermission, guests can enjoy champagne and breathtaking views of Piazza IX of April from the terrace.
Beautiful experience, impeccable. We went on a Thursday with our children aged 7 and 10 and we all left happy! The staff was super friendly. The room is small but it doesn't need to be any bigger, and the acoustics are very good. And the singers were beautiful, it was simply exciting.

What a great show. 10 lovely chosen and well performed opera pieces. In fact the trio did an exceptional job. Highly recommend. It is 1 1/2 hour with cocktail break so very easy to fit in.
Scott H — Google review
We had a great time listening to the solid performances of messrs. Marianna Cappellani, Moises Molin and Antonio Gennaro. It is not an opera per se, but a well organized intimate musical show, in which famous arias and popular italian songs are interpreted in an informal yet professional way. Highly recommended for Taormina visitors who love classical music. VIP seats (front rows) provide for the best experience and are well worth it.
Roberto B — Google review
Makes for a pleasant evening, with familiar music, nice ambient, a bit out of most touristy part of town, changing artists make it worth revisiting specially when no other venues are in season.
Viktor B — Google review
Beautiful place in Taormina with fantastic programme. Listening to selection of arias from most prominent operas in history was wonderful. Two fantastic opera singers, male and female, and maestro on piano. So simple and so wonderful. If you are in Taormina during a week night I highly recommend you go. There are also drinks served before the performance, and during a short break in the programme, on a terrace with amazing view.
Ana L — Google review
A wonderful show, amazing voices and pianist. VIP experience was worth it. Make sure to ask for front row at check-in
Robert S — Google review
Fabulous evening in small intimate theatre. The performance of around 10 popular arias, plus a couple of operatic interludes lasts about 90 minutes, and included highlights from Mozart, Bellini, Puccini, Verdi and Lehar. Don’t bother with the VIP package, which just gets you into the front 4 rows plus an extra glass of bubbly.
Stephen M — Google review
Italian Opera Taormina really is one of those little surprises that makes a trip unforgettable. It’s held in a small, historic theater with a cozy vibe close enough that you feel the emotion in every aria, but casual enough that families show up in relaxed clothes and no one feels out of place. The singers and pianist don’t just perform; they throw themselves into it, hitting every note with warmth and humor. At intermission, everyone spills out onto the terrace for a glass of Prosecco and snacks, taking in the pretty nighttime views of Taormina. People often say it’s the perfect “taster” of opera: familiar songs, friendly faces, and great value for the ticket price. Whether it’s a highlight of a trip, a date night, or a fun evening with kids, most guests leave smiling sometimes even a little teary-eyed. Even if opera isn’t usually on the agenda, it somehow wins people over with charm and contagious energy

Families will appreciate the convenience of renting sunbeds, allowing kids to find shade under parasols while parents indulge in delicious snacks and refreshing cocktails right from their loungers. The terrace dining experience is truly remarkable, boasting breathtaking views that enhance every meal.
We spent 3 days here. The beach and sea is amazing. Lido La Pigna has a great menu and the menu has reasonable prices. Very clean and friendly staff. There was a family who were listening to music, which was a bit annoying but we didn’t say anything. The staff came and very kindly asked the family to turn down the music. This was a big plus for us! The fact that the Lido respected the peaceful environment, and that they were very kind. I would recommend to reserve in advance to get a nice spot.

Fantastic spot to relax, enjoy amazing views and great food and drinks. We had great service and recommend reserving chairs the day before in October but probably earlier in peak season. The pizza was great and their drinks were also fantastic! Recommend for sure!
Meredith M — Google review
Right in the heart of Taorimina beach this restaurant overlooks the beach. The beach is small rock sand and easy to walk on. We rented chairs there and ate at the restaurant for about 100 Euros. The service was great and the people were very welcoming and friendly. A great place to rent chairs and enjoy the day. The cable service broke and we stood in the rain for over an hour trying to get back up the mountain so make sure you make arrangements beforehand. This was of course not La Pignas fault.

Our hotel in Taormina helped arrange a day for my husband and I to relax on the beach. We were introduced to Tomas and Fabrizio, who led us to a front row spot and catered to our every need. The location is fabulous, laid-back and the food delicious. Reasonable prices with exceptional hospitality. The showering and changing facilities were helpful at the end of the day along with the convenience of the attached restaurant. To top it all off, La Pigna arranged round-trip transportation from and back to the hotel!

Highly recommend this lunch option if visiting this beach! My pasta was fresh and delicious. Affordable price of around 10 EUR for pasta dishes. Unfortunately they do not offer gluten free pasta but do have some gluten free options on the menu.
Valentina M — Google review
The food was good, but the view was even better. The variety of pizzas is good, and they also have other dishes with fish, chicken, and meat. The prices were fair, considering that it is Taormina, and with the beautiful view, cannot be a better lunch, specially after spending the entire morning in the beach.
Denisse Z — Google review
The mussels were absolutely amazing – I’d come back just for them! The seafood pizza was surprisingly good, while the Margherita was just okay. Staff were lovely, the prices offered good value, and the views were beautiful, which made the whole experience really enjoyable.
Lekeisha P — Google review
The best beach in Taormina, that’s for sure. In September 2025, the sunbed fee is 30 EUR/ person. The sunbeds have cover for head and therefore they are protecting you for the sun. I have never seen something like that before, it made the experience truly relaxing. Staff are so nice, no bad attitude and they are also super fast. You order food and drinks directly to your sunbed with QR which is an unexpected service for Italy. The cost of pizza’s around 10-15 EUR. You can bring your water from outside but it is not also expensive at the side. The sea was very beautiful in the morning. It’s mix sand and rock. After lunch, the boats have left their garbage and the sea gets dirty unfortunately.

An old beautiful church in the center of Taormina. Located within terrace and a lot of restaurants. Must visit location on sun set😁
Viacheslav D — Google review
The Baroque church of San Giuseppe dominates the back of the beautiful Piazza XI Aprile. Unlike many other Baroque churches we visited in Sicily, this one is not so richly decorated. It is more simple and unassuming. A beautiful wide staircase takes you up to the church courtyard. The arched, according to Baroque architecture, entrance is made of pieces of white, gray and pink marble. High on the facade, above the entrance, there is a statue of Christ blessing the flock. Inside there are beautiful frescoes and several statues of saints. An interesting visit!

We stayed in Mazzaro and went to Taormina for the afternoon/night. The travel is fine but be careful of the ticket machine. We purchased two up and back tickets and the machine stated the correct price. When I checked my account a couple days later I was charged double the amount instead which was the price of two day trips - I initially selected day trips in error and then cancelled. Unfortunately as we had thrown our tickets out when we left and got no receipt I couldn’t dispute it and it’s so difficult to find any information for the company online. Bye €20.

Convenient but Pricey Cable Car in Taormina We parked below and took the cable car up to Taormina, a very easy option, but also quite expensive. With parking plus tickets, the cost really adds up. A round trip is €10 per person, and although it says it runs every 15 minutes, it didn’t always feel that way (it felt shorter). When we came back down, there was a huge line to go up, so keep in mind you might wait up to an hour, especially at busy times. Convenient, but plan for the cost and potential waiting time.

The on-site restaurant serves delicious food at great value for money. While the view may not be as stunning as some other beaches in the area, it provides a relaxing and dog-friendly environment for visitors to enjoy.
Amazing food & drinks. Friendly staff, good- normal prices. Pet friendly. Good sunbeds and beautiful water. Showers, toilets, changing rooms included AND transport can be included. Bar+ restaurant. There also is a pool acces. The beach is not sandy, there are small stones but they make the water very clear. I recommend!

Lovely beach club! Great place to relax by the sea. The restaurant has pretty reasonable prices and good service. The beach and the sea are fantastic – clean, calm, and beautiful. The sunbeds are very comfortable, perfect for a relaxing day. They also sell single-use towels on-site, which is super convenient if you didn’t bring one. They have delicious coffee cream and excellent iced coffee — definitely worth trying! Highly recommended!

⭐ Relaxing private beach with good service, but safety concerns. The daily fee is €16 per person – not sure if that’s average, but it felt fair for the area. Cocktails at €8 are actually cheap compared to Taormina (usually €12+ in town). There’s a shuttle service (pick-up and return), which made everything very convenient. The beach itself was calm, with lifeguards, toilets, and showers available. However, a serious downside: I found a large rusty fishing hook in the water, and saw others picking up metal objects as well. This is dangerous and really requires more attention from the management. I strongly recommend wearing water shoes. Great atmosphere overall, but safety in the water must be improved.

One of the highlights of our trip to Taormina. We loved it so much, we went twice. If you book it through your hotel, you get such a good deal for the amount you pay. Very clean, relaxing beach with everything you need.

Great alternative to the busy and expensive beach clubs in the area. There was a shuttle that picked us up from the hotel and dropped us back off when we wanted to go. Upon arrival, we received a welcome juice and enjoyed the drinks and sandwiches at the snack bar. The beach is very rocky in this area of Sicily so water shoes are recommended. Overall, we enjoyed our time at this beach club!

I love this lido. I did a day here not expecting much from the shuttle service that was promoted from my hotel but I was wrong. I loved this lido so much I went to it three consecutive days in a row. The food and drinks were fairly priced, the staff were hospitable and welcoming, the sea and lido itself were clean and easy to access. If I had another week to spend in Taormina I would spend my days at this lido.

In the charming town of Taormina, one can't miss the Torre dell'Orologio e Porta di mezzo, a historic clock tower and entrance gate to the old town. Situated on Corso Umberto near Piazza IX Aprile, it offers stunning views of Mount Etna and the sea from its terraces. The tower separates the medieval village from the classical and Hellenistic part of town.
very festive 😊🎄
Rir L — Google review
The Clock Tower is a gate that marks the entrance to the medieval part of Taormina. It is a 12th-century building, although other buildings probably predate it, dating back to the Roman era. The clock was added during repairs to the tower in 1679. The Tower is also called Porta di Mezzo (Middle Gate) since it is located approximately in the middle of the city's historical route from Porta Messina to Porta Catania. It was part of Taormina's medieval fortifications. Passing under the gate from Piazza IX Aprile, notice in an arched recess on your left the exceptionally preserved Byzantine mosaic. It depicts the Virgin Mary seated, with the Christ Child in her lap. The colors are bright and vibrant. I don't know, but while passing by I saw it unexpectedly because I didn't know it existed and I really felt a warm feeling of pride wash over me. Beautiful!
John D — Google review
The clocktower marks the medieval part of town from the part that was here in the ancient classic Hellenistic period. It is a scenic passage through Taormina and a visual symbol of the town. Inside is an ornate mosaic. On one side you have the outstanding views of Mount Etna and the sea from the piazza. It is an ancient edifice. The defensive walls on which the tower was built date from the 4th century BC. The building dates from 12th century. It was destroyed in 1676 by the troops of Louis XIV. Repairs were made in 1679. Spiaggia di Mazzeo is a tranquil beach known for its variety of fish species and the option to enjoy a comprehensive beach club experience at Lido Playa Sole Luna. Pirata Beach stands out with its black volcanic rocks and extraordinary view over the Volcano di Etna. The beach itself has small rocks instead of sand, so it's advisable to bring water shoes. Visitors can also bring an umbrella if they prefer some shade.
The beach in general is beautiful but the way to the beach, the streets that you come on near are leaving you breathless.

When you stand and look at this pathway winding its way from Taormina Town to the Chiesa Madonna della Rocca. it looks a daunting climb. But actually its not that bad and well worth the effort for the views and satisfaction of doing it. There is depictions of the 14 stages of the cross that gives you an opportunity to take a breather and also taking in the views. The path and stairs are well maintained and lit on an evening
Paul D — Google review
Super little church built into the rock. It's quite the penance to walk the path to the top but it does have the Stations of the Cross on the way up. Amazing views from the top. The path is lit at night and quite doable after a meal!

(Translated by Google) The Salita al Castello staircase in Taormina is a scenic path leading to the Church of Madonna della Rocca and the ruins of Taormina Castle. As you climb, panoramic views of the old town, rooftops, Naxos Bay and Mount Etna open up. From above you can enjoy the turquoise sea and the surrounding landscapes, and in the church itself there is peace and quiet. At the top, near the castle, there are impressive 360-degree views of the coast and Sicily. Chiesa di Sant'Antonio Abate - Presepe permanente is a beautiful church located in Taormina, dating back to the 1300s. Although mass has not been celebrated there for several years, it remains a charming attraction. Inside, visitors can admire the permanent municipal nativity scene, which showcases handmade decorations in the style of Taormina and dates back to the 1950s.

As you step into the Casa Museo, it's like entering a preserved time capsule that offers a glimpse into the aristocratic life of Taormina during the 18th and 19th centuries. The opulent residence showcases well-preserved furniture, period artifacts, and artwork that provide insight into the lifestyle of Taormina's upper class.

Museo Naturalistico Regionale di Isolabella offers a stunning panoramic view from its elevated location. Visitors can enjoy the beautiful scenery, although some areas may be closed off. The museum features large printed photos, but the quality and organization of the exhibition could be improved. Additionally, there are comments about the need for more information and better maintenance of facilities such as toilets. Despite these drawbacks, many find the incredible view alone to be worth a visit to this museum.
Our visit of the island was a pleasant one! Even though it’s said that there is only part of the island open for visitors because of the reconstructions we still found it to be much bigger than we expected. There is no linear route so it was fun to explore all the spaces available even though some of them were empty, it was still interesting to see. The island with few tourists is a good contrast to the overcrowded beach. We loved the art deco windows and intricate details that survived, enjoyed the balcony/terrace with the sea view and were spooked but also impressed with the women restrooms haha Worth a visit!
Yana K — Google review
The average review rating tells you basically all you need to know. It's now €6 per adult which is pretty steep for what you get, especially if you're a big group. The views are nice but not really anything you can't get from elsewhere in the area. All there is to see is some empty buildings and a few terraces. The upper parts of the island are roped off robbing you of the spectacular views you may be hoping for. Also be aware you must be fully clothed to enter, no bathing suits etc
Guy H — Google review
Went on a Friday It’s a unique experience you walk down 134 steps and wade across calf /ankle deep water on stones so take some reef shoes if you have them. It’s a weird place expensive for 6 euros as it’s just empty rooms some with a view and one has bill boards with some explanations. half the paths are blocked due to maintenance but it was strange that it’s built into the rock and something to consider doing just because it’s so bizarre It was busy on the beach.
Robin H — Google review
The beautiful villa is seamlessly integrated into the island's natural landscape. The museum showcases the history of the villa as well as some information about the city of Taormina. Although the entry fee is a bit pricey at €6, it is definitely worth a visit to this unique location.
Michele M — Google review
Mediocre. It is not worth the 5€ entry fee. We couldn't access the whole small island. The most interesting parts of it and the best panoramas were out of reach for visitors. The parts that we could enter were empty, the rock "caves" and buildings are fake concrete structures. The museum is almost empty, it has like 8 terrible paintings in it. As a bonus, the lady at the front desk is a bit rude.
Mathias F — Google review
We visited Isola Bella in Taormina and it was an experience I can absolutely recommend. The entrance fee was very affordable (around €3 per person), which makes it easy for everyone to enjoy this special place. Even though parts of the site were unfortunately closed due to ongoing renovations, the visit was still well worth it. What makes Isola Bella so fascinating is the way the entire little island feels like a single residence. Walking through the house, you see not only the main rooms but also charming details like a pool, a bedroom, and smaller spaces that now serve as a kind of museum. It gives you the impression of stepping back into a different time, when this island was a private retreat. Another highlight is the path leading down to the boathouse, which offers beautiful views of the surrounding bay and gives a real sense of the island’s connection to the sea. Even with the restricted access, we could imagine how special it must have been to live there. The overall atmosphere is unique – a mix of history, architecture, and nature all packed into this tiny but extraordinary island. Combined with its beautiful setting in Taormina, it’s definitely a must-see. Despite the renovation works, Isola Bella left a lasting impression and I’d recommend it to anyone visiting the area.
Leo ( — Google review
The Island is located just of the main beach and reached by a shale/lava rock walk way that the sea laps over. Entrance was €5 each which was worth it to explore the island and buildings although part is off limits. Some good views and intersting facts dotted around. Only thing is it talks about the history of the island and its inhabitants but doesnt say what the various building/rooms was for. But would have been a stunning place in its hey day.
Paul D — Google review
I spent a tranquil, enchanting time here on a very hot day when the beach was completely packed. The villa complex was built in a way that makes it feel part of the nature, and it's fabulous to see how much work went in to that and into the nature reserve element. Parts of it are still closed so it doesn't take long to see it all, but I sat and chilled in here for a bit away from the crowds and with a lovely view.
