Basilique Notre-Dame du Port de Clermont-Ferrand is a restored 12th-century Roman Catholic basilica adorned with sculptures and inlaid stone mosaics. This UNESCO World Heritage site offers a captivating journey into the world of Romanesque art. The basilica, built of beige arkose, underwent full restoration until December 2008.
Beautiful old medieval church. Free entry. Beautiful stained windows and decorative ceilings. Worth a visit
Louise N — Google review
Visiting from Rue Robertus gives you a better view of the basilica and it's unique geometric shaped architecture. It was empty during the weekend giving a peaceful atmosphere to the visit. You have an access to the crypt too! Overall, it's a lovely romanesque styled basilica worth visiting for some peace :)
Akshay R — Google review
I was rubbed a little but the building was beautiful so I was stroking with a view
Crimson C — Google review
Truly amazing church of roman style. No further alterations in later centuries, but original as it was in 1140 when it was built. Ther is also a crypt below the apsis. The ceiling is very beautiful , in the area of the choir it is obvious that the architect had difficulties to combine the different elements into a cross shape. A must see when in clermont ferrand.
Hartmut P — Google review
Make sure to check out the geometric designs at the east end on the outside!
Ben C — Google review
A beautiful romanesque basilica with typical chevets and mosaics, among the five greatest churches in Auvergne (Issoire, Orcival, Saint-Nectaire, and Saint-Saturnin). Founded in the 6th century, burned down and rebuilt around the 12th, the building has been restored (questionably) in the 19th century, finally a major restoration programme took place in the church interior at the beginning of the 21st century (to clean the stonework and remove the 19th century cement adds) after the basilica was added to the UNESCO World Heritage (1998).

L'Aventure Michelin is an exhibition in Clermont-Ferrand that showcases the history and innovations of the Michelin company in the field of transport. The museum features films, vehicles, and reconstructions that track over a century of the company's developments, with a particular focus on the development, manufacture, and applications of rubber tires. Visitors can learn about the origins of Michelin from its beginnings as a rubber factory to its international reputation today.
Very detailed history of the Michelin tire company with many life size artifacts. I learned a lot more than I thought I would. I highly recommend this visite. ADA accessible. I would not bring children under 8-10 yo. They won't get the point and it's actually a lot of walking.

Very good and would recommend you visit .Family of 4, 38 Euros .Also all the information was in English.

Super interesting museum! If you’re in this area a must visit! We spend there quite long. A couple of hours. There are different levels with all the history and side stories. It’s really fun to walk through it and also interactive. Totally worth the time!
Maya S — Google review
-1 star for the lack of normal bicycle parking. Absurdly that Lidl has better parking spots in comparison with the biggest tyre manufacturer. Otherwise – a great museum with a square of 2000 m2. There are no barriers – I mean you can touch almost anything! Experience was beyond my expectations. Highly recommend.
Mikita K — Google review
Amazing place! Proud to had been employee for 18 years. A couple of hours is enough, or 3 if you want to learn more about the history of the company.
Samoel F — Google review
We spent a couple of hours here, two adults and two kids (aged 6 and 9). It was interesting, but more so because of having family connections to Michelin (grandfather working for them in Nigeria and Clermont-Ferrand in the 1960s; both grandparents and my mum working for Michelin in the UK at times). There is quite a bit of corporate agrandising - one would believe Michelin is the best in the world at everything it does by reading the exhibits. But it is interesting, there are some interactive elements for the kids (though ours were a bit young to fully enjoy it). I am glad we visited, but I would not feel thr need for a return visit.
Tom L — Google review
Extremely family friendly with interactive exhibitions and few no-touch artifacts as well as detailed descriptions for those interested. Free parking with four electric vehicle charging stations (11 kW). Very friendly staff - arriving at noon, the front desk attendant recommended having lunch before visiting and gave several options in the area, as the museum does not have a cafeteria.

One of the remarkable art institutions in Clermont -Ferrand. It looks like a modern building but contents really historic artefacts back to medieval times etc. I was really impressed by the museum, it’s worth visiting it with family and friends.
Loli S — Google review
Five euro for a two hour museum. Not a bad price. Many pieces displaying people relevant to the region. Such as Desaix and Vercingetorix.
David G — Google review
A beautifully laid-out museum with two excellent temporary exhibits. No explanations in English, though, if that's a problem. I have to say that the painting of the fair at Impruneta is an absolute must.
Neil T — Google review
A small museum, but it has many valuable art pieces. The painting styles are various from classical to modern art. You will forget everything when staying in front of these paintings.
Duc H — Google review
I have never met such grumpy staff at the reception desk of a museum. It's better to give a welcome smile than a grudging scowl. You'd think staff would be pleased to have some paying visitors... Very annoying also that the cloakroom and bag lockers are closed so we have to carry them around the museum. Poor experience.
Tony B — Google review
A lovely fine art museum to visit. It has an interesting modern layout, an atrium the height of the building like the courtyard between three buildings around a square. The collection runs from medieval to C20th. My favourite was the C20th collection in the basement, a very generous bequest. Rather too much Vercengétorex in the C19th for my taste, but he's the local hero!
Paul B — Google review
Nice museum. It has a lot of romantic-ish art with some roman vestiges of different objects of Clermont-Ferrand that date back to hundreds and hundreds of years. It's quite interesting. There was also a very interesting temporary expo of the dutch filmmaker "Rosto" that I specially liked. I'll be in the look out for future expositions in the museum.

The square is home to many attractions, such as the Opera Theatre, the Jaude Shopping Mall and Saint-Pierre-des-Minimes Church. Jaude Square was founded in the Roman times but was abandoned in the Middle Ages. Overlooking the square is a massive statue of the ancient Gallic leader Vercingetorix. Musée Le Coq in Clermont-Ferrand is a charming natural history museum with a diverse collection that includes fossils, minerals, and local flora and fauna exhibits. One unique feature is its section dedicated to arithmetic, where visitors can watch a video on how to calculate using an arithmetic machine, as well as learn about the work of Lavoisier. This blend of natural history and mathematical learning makes the museum both educational and engaging. Although most information is in French, the exhibits are accessible to all. It's a great spot for a short, enriching visit

Very interesting museum about the history of science. A part of the museum is dedicated to Blaise Pascal, who was born in Clermont-Ferrand. It stores some of his calculator machines, which were the early predecessors of the modern computer. On the second floor, there is a small geological collection, and some taxidermy. Additionally, there is a collection on the different senses, and there is a temporary exhibition. It is not a super big museum, but definitely nice and interesting to pay a visit. Free entry for students. The only downside was that almost all information is only provided in French, which sometimes makes it hard to read everything when you're not a native speaker.
Thirza S — Google review
Great collection with both good detail for adults and teens and simple explanations for children (though there's no really in depth stuff on display, ask staff for more). Covers geology, biology, zoology, archaeology as permanent displays. When we visited we arrived when the temporary wildlife habitats exhibition was on. Filled a whole afternoon for just over a tenner for six people!

History Museums
Nestled in the vibrant heart of Clermont-Ferrand, Musée Bargoin is a captivating destination that artfully combines the realms of archaeology and textile arts. Established in 1903, this museum showcases an impressive array of archaeological finds from the local region, spanning from prehistoric times to the Gallo-Roman era. Visitors can marvel at artifacts unearthed during excavations that reveal insights into ancient societies.
This is a great museum to visit if you are interested in ancient history and would like to see some amazing artefacts that have been found in the locallity. The quantity and quality of the displays is really impressive and the staff are really friendly and helpful making for a nice experience. The entrance fee is very reasonable and I would say allow up to two hours for a proper look around or an hour or so for a quick look. I would say that it is a Medium sized museum judging by the museums I have visited in the past. There is also some fabrics etc on display on the upper floor if this is of interest. In my opinion well worth a visit.

David G — Google review
As an international student of Ancient History, I was particularly excited to visit this museum and access its collections. It is, by all reports, an excellent experience. However, on arriving, there was simply a sign on its closed doors stating that it is CLOSED until 18th April 2023. Whilst museum closures for renovation works are completely understandable, there was no mention of this online via any of the official websites (including the regional tourism website). Very disappointed with the lack of communication, and this combined with the lack of public transport to the Puy de Dome temple site in the region meant that there was no accessible ancient history sites within the region. As a result, I cut my stay short (4 hours total) to return to Lyon for a few days, where ancient cultural sites are abundant and excellent.

History, from early man (in europe) to medieval times with regional/local archeological samples and explanations of provenance that is well ordered and relevant for Auvergne and Clermont-ferrand. A real gem, set in a beautiful building. Not a "large' collection like many big museums, but very informative. We spent a few hours here pouring over the details of each exhibit and were enthralled. It was just what we were looking for and helped us appreciate Clermont-ferrand even more.

(Translated by Google) Very well located, because in a part of the city that I prefer near the small, cool, cobbled streets of old Clermont. The "sillages" exhibition presents both very small and very large canvases. All are well displayed in the different rooms of the Frac. The little "extra": informative labels are placed at child height and summarize the main ideas of each work (and the creative process). It is often more enlightening and relevant than the usual pompous artistic litany that is above!

The Cathedral of Our Lady of the Assumption, also known as Clermont-Ferrand Cathedral, is a Gothic masterpiece located in the city center of Clermont-Ferrand in Auvergne. This 13th-century Roman Catholic place of worship is constructed entirely from black lava stone, giving it a unique and striking appearance. The cathedral features two impressive spires that soar 108 meters into the sky, offering breathtaking views of the surrounding area.
I have a beautiful experience to visit over here. Such a lovely and amazing place. Very impressive and Attractive. This church is so cool i highly recommend to visit this. You can go inside as well to look. I personally prefer summer time to visit cause winter time is so could over there. Cathedral Of our lady of the assumption is really good and it's my pleasure to visit here. Thanks

Oh boy! This cathedral is the identity of Clermont-Ferrand and rightly so. Built with lava stone, it gives a dark colour to the cathedral making it unique to the other cathedrals in France which is usually built with limestone. It's a gothic masterpiece and one of the tallest in France. Not to mention, the stained glass windows inside the cathedral was so colourful. I'm impressed!
Akshay R — Google review
Stunning church with daily Mass and adoration. Unlike most other cathedrals Mass is held on the main altar which is beautiful. Unfortunately like most cathedrals they’ve picked chairs instead of pews, making it difficult to kneel. The church is stunning and built from lava stone, there is beautiful artwork and architecture to admire inside. The high ceilings reach all the way up to heaven, bringing us up there for Mass.

This magnificent basilica leaves an indelible impression on all who are fortunate enough to experience its splendor. Standing tall against the skyline of Clermont-Ferrand, the Basilique Notre-Dame de l'Assomption is a testament to the city's rich history and enduring spiritual significance. It is one of the most iconic landmarks in the region. Constructed from the distinctive black volcanic stone native to the Auvergne region, the basilica's Gothic facade commands attention with its intricate detailing and imposing presence. Stepping through its grand entrance, visitors are enveloped in a sense of solemnity and tranquility, as light filters through stained glass windows. If you find yourself in Clermont-Ferrand, a visit to the Basilique Notre-Dame de l'Assomption is an absolute must.

The Statue of Vercingetorix, an equestrian statue created by renowned sculptor Auguste Bartholdi, commemorates the Gaul leader's triumph over Caesar at Gergovie in 52 BC. The statue was completed in 1903 and showcases the exceptional talent of its creator, who also designed the Statue of Liberty in New York. (Translated by Google) Everyone has their heroes, and in a twentieth-century reinterpretation, Vercingerorix, the most famous of Caesar's rivals in the Bellum Gallicum, was seen as a forerunner of French freedom. Hence the early twentieth-century statue by Auguste Bartholdi, erected in Clermont Ferrand, near the site of what could be Gergovia, where the Romans retreated (more or less strategically) before the king of the Arverni, who was later defeated at Alesia (perhaps the present-day Alise-Sainte-Reine, in Burgundy). A curiosity, full of anachronisms, with the occasional addition of the yellow jersey on the occasion of the men's or women's Tour (2025). If I struggled with certain words or phrases, they were not helpful and helping me figure it out like they were in Paris. I typically felt kind of judged simply because I was foreign. Great views from the top. Parking is easy and the trains run every 40 mins. Can take the dog although they do charge you and he needs his own ticket. Left my phone on the train coming down. First and foremost, this offers haphazard parking. Non-French first timers are bound to be confused here. Finally, the service here is pretty average.
Arvind Y — Google review
At the first view it looks nice, but the image changes as soon as you reach the building, the parking lot is dirty, everything is in a pretty aged condition, a bucket of new paint and sandpaper could help a lot. From the inside it looks way better, but there other things are ruining a good first impression. We have been there for a conference dinner with roughly 230 people, everyone had given information about allergies, vegetarian, vegan, etc. during the registration more than three months before the event, and everyone was getting a card for his place that it will be obvious for every service member, that was the good part. But from there it started with the fact that none of the waiters knew what he is giving as an appetizer, they had simply no clue at all, on top of this most of the food already reached a critical temperature where everything was only soggy and no tasty at all. And that was already 5 min after we where allowed to enter the ball room. After we took our seats the next thing came up, the staff had no proper service plan, everyone was running around asking at the same table multiple times for drinks while other tables were completely forgotten about. So it took nearly half an hour until even the first bottle of water was put in place at our table. And it wasn't going to be better from that on. 230 people is already a larger group, but with roughly 8 persons at service it is no big deal to set in the starters within under 10 minutes. But here as well, they where completely unorganized. And so we got our first plate when half of the room had already finished. The real problems where starting with the main dish, every special food order was ignored, the vegetarians and the vegans got first of all the meat dish as well, then it was exchanged, that took more than 30-40min, everyone else was finished at that point, and the surprise was pretty big, because the meat was simply exchanged by a spoon full of green beans everything else was the same, and two baby carrots and an salat leaf are not that much as a side dish. But also for the meat eaters, it was not a pleasant experience, the meat was something in between raw and extra well done, depending witch plate you got, and it was always chewy. The next two dishes were of the same poor quality, and one of it was a cold cheese plate... So all in all it was neither a pleasant or a tasty experience. The staff was friendly no doubt about that, but had definitely now clue what they had to do, or how to serve such a large group. To be clear about this, if done this job for 8 years, and that was an outstanding failure on all fronts, from the kitchen chef down to the waiters. Never again, especially not if you have seen the bill for that. There are way better restaurants around the city.

The Temple of Mercury is located at the summit of Puy de Dome, offering breathtaking panoramic views and a glimpse into Gallo-Roman history. Visitors can reach the top via a scenic railway or a hike, with an option for a tram ride. The site features ruins from the 2nd century and an archaeological museum called "l'Espace Temple de Mercure," providing multilingual audio-guided tours.
Visiting the Temple of Mercury at the summit of Puy de Dôme was a captivating and enriching experience. The Temple of Mercury, an ancient Gallo-Roman site, stands as a testament to the rich historical and cultural heritage of the region. The ruins are well-preserved, and informative plaques provide insights into the temple's historical context and its importance in ancient times. Located at the summit of Puy de Dôme, the temple offers unparalleled panoramic views of the surrounding Auvergne landscape. The combination of historical architecture and natural beauty makes for a truly picturesque setting. The Temple of Mercury is a must-visit for history enthusiasts and nature lovers alike. It offers a perfect blend of cultural education and natural beauty.

Gorgeous view at the top!! The hike there is pretty tiresome but the view is well worth it. There is also a tram available for those who don't want to do the hike. Once at the temple most of the information was written in English and German, not just french. There was also a very cute museum to get more history of the site.

Fantastic Roman temple remains not easily accessible due to reconstruction work currently but easily visible from the path alongside which goes to the museum about it.

The site of the Temple of Mercury ruins is on the summit of the Puy de Dome(H1464m). The Temple was built in the Gallo Romans period (2nd century). There is a small archeological museum called "l'Espace Temple de Mercure" with audio-guides in several languages. Free entry.

Perfect place! Make sure to check the train hours in advance... you will need 1 hour at list at the top, so dont come late. You can wal down the volcano, it will take uou about 1 hour. Make sure you bring some warm clothes with you
Kostia B — Google review
We were awestruck by the idea of the Romans transporting so much material up here to build such a large temple! That said, only the foundations and very bottom of the walls remain and you can't get anywhere close to the ruins. Impressive, but I hesitate to recommend people take the trip up to the top to see this site it's a lovely bonus to the spectacular views up top.
Shannon — Google review
Interesting partial "reconstruction". Something not quite right about it, very angular and looks like a modern ruin. Anyway, that's not why you go up the Puy de Dome, it's for the incredible views. Don't get distracted.

ASM Experience at Marcel-Michelin Stadium in Clermont-Ferrand is a unique and interactive museum dedicated to the renowned rugby club, ASM Clermont Auvergne. It offers an immersive journey through the history of the club and the sport of rugby, featuring simulators, memorabilia, and informative exhibits. Visitors can enjoy a guided tour of the iconic stadium while learning about the team's achievements and players.
Great museum. All interpretation of displays in both French and English. Allow a couple of hours. Museum shop is also excellent although most items in French. Internet said closed on Mondays but it was open. We nearly missed going because of this.

To be honest, ASM Experience is a solid program with some really useful insights. It’s not perfect—there were parts that felt a bit basic if you already have some background—but overall, it’s practical and easy to follow. The content is clear and the pacing keeps you engaged without feeling overwhelmed. What I appreciated most was how applicable the lessons are to real-life situations. You’re not just getting theory; you get actionable tips that you can start using right away. It’s definitely worth it if you’re looking for something straightforward and no-nonsense. If you’re new or looking for a refresher, ASM Experience will give you good value. Just don’t expect it to be groundbreaking if you’re already very experienced. But it’s a trustworthy, helpful resource that’s easy to get through and genuinely helpful. Tour guides will either make it good or break it for you down to zero

Puy des Goules is a picturesque mountain peak that can be easily reached by taking a short to moderate hike. The walk up the mountain has plenty of shaded areas, making it ideal for those looking to avoid direct sunlight. While the trail can be slippery at times, appropriate footwear should suffice. Upon reaching the top, visitors are treated to breathtaking views of the surrounding scenery. In total, it takes around 2.
Beautiful walk with a lot of shadow until the top. We did it with a baby, so the shadow was very appreciated. A little bit slippery but my wife and I did it with regular shoes and it’s was perfectly fine, just need to go slowly on the way down. The view at the end is beautiful.

(Translated by Google) A very pretty site. The last 300 meters of climbing are a bit steep, but worth it. Ideally, go early in the morning; you're sure to encounter few people, and if you have a dog who likes to stretch its legs, it allows you to let it off the leash a bit (we put the leash back on as soon as we see someone or a herd of sheep). One of the rare puys where we can descend into the crater. The kids loved it. (Original) Très joli site. Les 300 derniers mètres de grimpette piquent un peu mais en valent le coup. Come with your pasta dish and you will find a variety of herbs to season it, such as chives and rosemary. If flowers at Interflora are expensive, you can take advantage of the incredible selection of flowers and plants in this garden to create a beautiful bouquet (at your own risk). Located at 10 Rue de la Charme in Beaumont, Clermont-Ferrand, this commune is situated south of the dormant volcano Puy-de-Do.
A lovely little park. Small in size but very calm and quiet and filled with a huge variety of plants, all labeled.
Therese B — Google review
This botanic garden is at a cross-roads between being a calm, peaceful place and a desolated and creepy abandoned spot. The place has been taken care poorly, you can see it in the plants that are supposed to be labeled and taken care of which are actually mostly dead, full of weeds that have grown in the last couple of years. Sometimes you can't even walk by some of the alleys that you are supposed to go through. There's no one around (not even administrative personnel) when we were there on a sunday afternoon. This whole context however makes it a very calm garden, no one's around. There's specially a spot in here where you can hear the sound of water flowing through a little stream of water and just sit to listen to the emptiness of the whole place, it's quite enjoyable. Plus, there's still some of the plants that have survived even if there's no one watching after them, so you can still look at some of them and take beautiful pictures. This garden, however, should be taken care of by the city's administration, it's quite sad to see this place completely forgotten...

Church
When visiting Clermont-Ferrand, be sure to explore the rich historical and architectural heritage of the city. The Gothic Cathedral, Basilica, and historic center of Montferrand are all must-see attractions. In the heart of the city lies Jaude square, surrounded by various monuments and landmarks including Église Saint-Pierre-des-Minimes de Clermont-Ferrand.
This church was built in the 17th century and is characterized by black Volvic stone and in a classic style. The interior is dark. The interior sculptures are due to Henri Gourgouillon. The most interesting is undoubtedly the 19th century dome. Before this , The City main place was around the Big Cathedral. A primitive cathedral was built in the 5th century, then a Romanesque cathedral. In 1248, Hugues de la Tour, then bishop, began work on a new Gothic cathedral under the direction of architect Jean Deschamps. The church also underwent changes, particularly in the middle of the 14th century with the architect Pierre Juglar de Cébazat. On the projects of Viollet-le-Duc, the Romanesque façade was demolished and rebuilt with arrows in a neo-Gothic style in 1884.

(Translated by Google) General Louis Charles Antoine Desaix was one of the most respected generals of the French Revolution and the Napoleonic era. Although he died young, his life was short but brilliant. He was later called the "Knight General" and "Hero of the Republic" and was one of Napoleon's most admired generals. Below, I'll share his life and inspiring deeds in detail. ⸻ 👤 Louis Charles Antoine Desaix Louis Charles Antoine Desaix (August 17, 1768 - June 14, 1800) Project Description Birthplace: Piedmont, Auvergne, France (Puy-dôme Department) Died: Battle of Marengo, Piedmont, Italy Age: 31 Rank: General, Army of the French Republic Nickname: "The Just Desaix" (Le Juste Desaix) Motto: "I was born to fight for liberty." ⸻ 🧭 A Brief Timeline of His Life Year Events 1768 Born into an aristocratic family and well-educated, he developed a strong sense of justice and idealism even in his youth. 1789: The French Revolution broke out. Desaix renounced his aristocratic privileges and joined the revolutionary army. From 1793 to 1795, he achieved remarkable success on the Rhineland battlefield (fighting against Prussia and Austria), earning him the nickname "The Calm Lion." From 1796 to 1798, he served with Napoleon on the Italian expedition, demonstrating bravery and strict discipline. From 1798 to 1799, he participated in the Egyptian expedition, crossing the sea with Napoleon and serving as Governor-General of Upper Egypt. Known for his integrity and justice, he was revered by the Egyptians as a "Just Ruler." In 1800, after returning to France, he volunteered to return to the front lines to participate in the Italian campaign. On June 14, 1800, he led reinforcements to turn the tide of the battle at the Battle of Marengo, but was struck in the heart by a stray bullet and died instantly. ... • He did not avoid the storm of revolution, but instead joined the army as a "citizen officer," proving his convictions through action. "True honor lies not in birth but in action." ⸻ 2. 🦁 "The Calm Lion" of the Rhineland • He fought in the Rhineland Theater from 1793 onward, against the established Prussian and Austrian armies. • He repeatedly turned defeat into victory with calm command despite disadvantages. • His soldiers called him "brave as a lion, calm as a philosopher." His colleagues commented: "He was a general who fought for duty, unencumbered by the temptations of glory." ⸻ 3. 🏜️ Egypt's "Just Ruler" • He was appointed Governor-General of Upper Egypt during Napoleon's expedition to Egypt. • Dessan implemented a policy of justice, restraint, and tolerance, respecting Islamic culture and protecting the people. • Egyptians respectfully called him "Al-Adl" (meaning "The Just"). • He personally punished French soldiers who plundered civilians, earning the trust of the local population. Napoleon said, "Dessains is the only general who has managed to retain his humanity even in his conquests." ⸻ 4. ⚔️ The "Fateful Battle" of Marengo • On the morning of June 14, 1800, Napoleon was defeated by the Austrian army at the Battle of Marengo. • Dessains was ordered to scout westward. Upon hearing the artillery fire, he immediately turned back and marched 7,000 men to the battlefield. • Facing his retreating allies, he calmly reassured his soldiers, "We still have time to win another battle." • Around 3:00 p.m., Dessains led his troops in a frontal attack, coordinated with Kellermann's cavalry charge, and successfully defeated the Austrian right wing. • Just before victory was achieved, Dessains was struck in the heart by a stray bullet and killed instantly. His last words (allegedly): "Tell Napoleon I died a worthy death." ⸻ 5. 🕊️ Posthumous Mourning and Honor • Upon hearing the tragic news, Napoleon remained silent for a long time, tears streaming down his face. He said: "Dessains's death brought victory to France, but it also cost him my most sincere friend." • The whole of Paris mourned him, and Napoleon ordered a monument to be built in his honor, with his name inscribed on the Arc de Triomphe. • His remains are buried alongside Napoleon in the Military Cemetery of Saint-Denis (Les Invalides). ⸻ ❤️ Why Dessains is so moving 1. Bravery and Restraint: He did not glorify massacres, but rather esteemed mercy. 2. Loyalty and Independence: He respected Napoleon, but never blindly followed him; he often offered moral counsel. 3. A Combination of Idealism and Realistic Achievement: He was both a philosopher and a warrior. 4. Chivalry in Fighting for the People: Whether in France or Egypt, he acted according to the principle of justice. ⸻ ✨ Napoleon's Comments "Had he lived, he would have been the man to whom I would have entrusted the future of the Republic." "He was pure as fire, brave as a lion." ⸻ 🎖️ Legacy and Commemoration • Rue Desaix, a street in the 3rd arrondissement of Paris, is named after him. • The French Military Academy still lists him as a "model general." • In French military history, he symbolizes republican idealism, justice, courage, and sacrifice. The only downside is that the entrance fee is really, really below the quality of the service, the knowledge of the guide, and the length of his talk. As I always say, there's always a solution to every problem ;-). A very, very nice experience that I recommend if you're passing through Royat.

Bruno, a fascinating guide, invites us to go back in time to better understand the splendor of Royat's establishments, the thermal history and the destiny of some astonishing characters through a large collection of objects and costumes composed with passion. It’s a shame that this immense heritage is not highlighted throughout the city with an enthusiasm equal to that encountered today in this “small” museum. (Original) A découvrir absolument ! La Tôlerie is a captivating venue that invites exploration and creativity, making it an ideal spot for those interested in the performing arts. During my visit with my arts class, I was struck by the dedication of the team running this space; their passion truly enhances the experience. (Translated by Google) I have lived near this square for 3 years. I even saw it. It is one of the most degraded places in Clermont Ferrand. A shaky social gathering point where all forms of deprivation coexist from morning to evening. We see a procession of those left behind passing by. An explosive cocktail of inebriation, malevolence, distress. It is a violent place, with unparalleled visual and noise pollution. There is vegetation there where all local residents go to do their business. Beer cans lie here and there between the trees. An abandoned children's play area because no parent in their right mind would dare let their offspring hang out in these places. After closing time the place becomes downright disreputable. The town hall does nothing. Neither do the police. The local authorities gave up. Daily rounds of mediators would be welcome to clean up the atmosphere and give neighborhood residents the opportunity to enjoy a green spot or relax.

Large canvases and videos to discover some of the artists who have created frescoes in the city. The opportunity to learn that some specialize in lettering, others in characters, and still others in abstract art. The paths are interesting, from self-taught to students at the Clermont Conservatory of Fine Arts or other artistic studies. Have we been treated to a retrospective of Clermont street art, like there was the anthology of Clermont rock for example? The early 1990s were very rich with artists like Keymi, Dune, Dulim, crews like SPK... The parking lot behind the fine arts, in addition to having been a very active skatepark, also had some beautiful frescoes... Thank you for the exhibition, beautiful pieces can still be seen there for a while.
