The Stella Artois Brewery in Leuven, Belgium, is a must-visit for beer enthusiasts and travelers alike. This renowned brewery offers guided tours that provide insight into the brewing process and the history of Stella Artois, one of the world's best-known beers. Visitors can witness the entire production process and even learn how to pour a perfect glass of beer before indulging in a tasting session.
I did the Brewery tour, was so informative and 4 free tastings if you are able to get them all down in 15 minutes hahaha Of course, I did and the last one was a 10% beer, was really nice amazingly
Jamie S — Google review
Does not honor rebate offers advertised in store. Will avoid your product and marketing traps moving forward. Submitted as instructed and told I didn't pay enough to qualify. Ruins what was a nice beer for me. Don't appreciate false offers or being yanked around by false promises. Should be illegal.
Mike N — Google review
Really nice but you don't get to see too much of the process itself. The bar at the end of the tour is good and you get a bag with beers that's nice as well. Overall a nice experience.
Ricardo A — Google review
I went here today and had such a great time learning about the history of Stella Artois! Our tour guide did an incredible job of connecting with the audience and adding some humour to the presentation! I hope more people get a chance to experience this. :)
Sean M — Google review
Firstly. Bar keep best you could have. Knowledgeable, quick and plenty of beers. Lad with glasses and brown hair. Sorted us out with travel recommendations. Also showed us the secret tap. Great easy to make your money back in beer. Would recommend. Great tour.
B — Google review
I enjoyed witnessing the entire beer brewing process and touring the bottling plant. The atmosphere was fantastic, and my friends had the opportunity to sample various brands of beer for free. Must visit✅
Suyash J — Google review
Not really a tour, more an experience. Sat in a room watching tv too long. History of Leuven from 1300’s isn’t Stella! Saw some kettles and a bottling plant. No “wife beater” hats in the gift shop. Something to do and say you’ve done.
Dylan M — Google review
We love Stella Artois ! It is our favourite beer so we planed a visit to the place where magic happens…we had to book tickets with 3 weeks in advance and we had the trip to Leuven based on the date we could find a free spot to visit Stella Artois brewery…we had a english speaking guide who walked us and told us the amazing story behind this tasteful beer…the story, it goes back to 1366, is wow, the process of making the beer itself is long and has lots of steps…anyway, it was an hour and a half well spent and at the end we were invited to the brewery bar to taste some fresh and cold Stella Artois ! Cheers !

Groot Begijnhof Leuven is a serene and well-preserved quarter with a rich historical background. This UNESCO World Heritage site boasts charming cobblestone streets, peaceful gardens, and well-maintained buildings that once housed a religious women's village. The vibrant Ladeuzeplein nearby is a hub of student life and cultural activity, featuring the striking Totem sculpture and the university library. The stunning St.
It’s such a historical location which really worth going. Full of red-bricked buildings. It seemed entering to another world. Just walk through those little streets and almost forgot the time. We just walk here amd there and took many nice pictures. This is a really amazing area. I really enjoyed the time spending there.
Gin C — Google review
We’ve been living in this residence for a few years now. I must say, if you’re visiting Leuven, you absolutely shouldn’t miss Groot Begijnhof. Its historical architecture is truly mesmerizing. Every street reveals different houses and glimpses of past lives. Recently, some infrastructure work has been taking place in part of the area, so if you’re planning to visit during the summer of 2025, be aware that some entrances are closed and walking around the church might be a bit difficult.
Açelya Ç — Google review
Incredible walking experience there. There was some renovation done in some part of area but in general it’s a very enjoyable experience with exploring the small aisle and looking at the old buildings. I was there during weekday so it was pretty quiet.
Cita W — Google review
Beautiful and peaceful place in the heart of Leuven. The Groot Begijnhof feels like stepping back in time with its quiet cobblestone streets, historic houses, and calm atmosphere. Perfect for a walk, some photos, or just to disconnect from the city noise. A must-see in Leuven.
Cris S — Google review
I strolled through the Groot Begijnhof in Leuven and instantly felt its centuries-old charm. As I entered through the main gate, those traditional sandstone buildings and winding cobblestone lanes made me feel like I had stepped back in time. Each house, some with striking crow-stepped gables and tiny old windows, reveals layers of history and story. The peaceful courtyards and scenic river views added to the atmosphere. This restored “town-within-a-town” is a unique place and quiet yet full of character, offering an authentic glimpse into Leuven’s past and the life once led by its beguines.
Ruben K — Google review
The Groot Begijnhof in Leuven is a beautifully preserved 13th-century beguinage and UNESCO World Heritage Site. Once home to religious women called beguines, it features cobbled streets, red-brick houses, gardens, and stone bridges over the River Dijle. Restored in the 1960s, it now belongs to KU Leuven and serves as housing for students and professors. It’s a peaceful quarter perfect for a quiet walk through history.
Jelena R — Google review
It’s a breathtaking testament to history and architectural grandeur, buildings of Gothic and Renaissance styles. It can be called as the hidden place of Leuven. Not much crowded place. Good place to have some memories.

The Botanical Garden in Leuven is a historic site dating back to 1738, originally established as a herb garden for the university's medicine students. Over time, it has evolved into a diverse display of plants and flowers. The garden features a tranquil Sunken Garden where students often study amidst the peaceful surroundings. Amidst the bustling city, this garden offers a serene escape for visitors seeking relaxation and natural beauty.
Beautiful green oasis in the center of Leuven. I really loved the big sequoia tree and the wisteria trees. There were some amazing smells of the flowers also. We just spent some time here walking around and taking a break on some of the benches here
Elke E — Google review
A beautiful and serene escape from the city. The garden is well-maintained, with a wide variety of plants, flowers, and peaceful walking paths. I especially enjoyed the calm atmosphere and the chance to take some lovely photos surrounded by nature. A perfect place to relax, breathe, and reconnect with the natural world. Definitely worth a visit!
Leandro H — Google review
I was here during autumn so lots of the plants were not blooming but it’s still such a nice place to just sit and enjoy the views. No ticket needed as it’s free and you can also see people just jogging around it. Perfect place to contemplate.
Cita W — Google review
The Botanical Garden of Leuven (Kruidtuin), founded in 1738, is the oldest in Belgium. It features a wide variety of plants, greenhouses with exotic species, medicinal herbs, and peaceful walking paths, making it a relaxing spot to explore nature in the heart of the city.

Extremely beautiful, lots of plants, trees, flowers, and it’s so well taken care of. It looks magical. One of the most beautiful places I’ve been.

Superb botanical garden and very jealous of the space. We saw alot of exotic plants and trees and super well kept. Highlights were the Musa, oranges, kumquat and the turtles. If you’re closeby, its worth visiting. There are toilets available (clean), wheelchair accessible and a small information center with some booklets. There is bicycle parking in front of the entrance.

Specialty Museums
M Leuven is an art museum housed in a building that seamlessly blends old and contemporary architecture, offering a unique experience in the heart of Leuven. The museum features an extensive collection of over 58,000 pieces spanning from the Stone Age to modern times, with a strong focus on late Gothic, Renaissance, and 19th-century art. Visitors can explore paintings and sculptures while enjoying views of the city from the rooftop terrace.
Great museum with an extensive collection which is now interestingly curated in themes, rather than strictly by period. I found this quite engaging and made for an interesting visit.
Christopher L — Google review
It was once the home of the mayor of Leuven and then the home of a rich family. Some interesting exhibits and classic paintings were displayed. It took about 1.5 hours to walk through. And there is a cafe inside the museum. You can enjoy the coffee inside the museum or outside anytime then get back to the museum. The ticket is valid for one day and re-enter as long as you keep the sticker and the ticket.
Gin C — Google review
Very nice museum!! It has a mix of different styles and times. Sometimes it was kind of confusing when walking around, because of this mix. It’s not really set up chronologically or categorically. The museum is also very interactive, here and there they had little stories to listen to and you were able to give your input on a possible discussion! There’s also a rooftop where you can go, which has a cool view over the city. Overall, it’s not very big, but it’s a lot of fun! Within a few hours you’ve seen everything. Downstairs there’s a cute little cafe where you can enjoy a drink with a small bite.
Jet R — Google review
While this museum may not be on everyone's "must-see" list, it does provide a pleasant art experience, especially if you have a museum pass (free entrance). Although it does not house any famous masterpieces, the museum successfully connects the past and present through meaningful thematic parallels. We especially loved the interesting temporary exhibitions featuring local artists. A tour lasts about 90 minutes, and the personnel was quite friendly and informative. Through their website or app you get access to a free audio tour. The museum also has a cafeteria, a small shop selling art-related books and souvenirs, and a stunning rooftop patio. Free lockers are available downstairs for your convenience.
Mario M — Google review
Great museum in Leuven to check out if you have time. The interior is very nicely laid out and looks like it was recently renovated or updated. The collection includes a wide range of pieces and has many works from Belgian artists. The museum is much larger than I expected and you could easily spend a couple of hours here. Keep an eye out on their website for free admission days.
Courtney C — Google review
This is a really lovely museum with lots of great art works from late‑Gothic art to contemporary exhibits. It’s both a tour guided and self-paced tour (if you so choose) with audio assistance so you get to really enjoy the experience and take in the works with much appreciation.
Nini E — Google review
Loved the museum space and friendly staff there, though I’m not a fan of contemporary art. A cozy place to spend one or two leisure hours. Also a nice and cool place in summer thanks to its architectural design.
Xiaoyu X — Google review
The items are interesting, I didn't get the theme if there was one, but some of the exhibits were cool, especially the smelling section, that was an intriguing part and made me think hard before checking what they really are. The building itself is also an interesting one; sitting in the heart of Leuven but set apart as it looks modern and out of place, but yet just right to show both the past and future of this vibrant university town. It's worth a visit if you're in Leuven. Opens late till 10pm on Thursdays, which is when I went there.

Saint Peter's Church in Leuven is a striking Romanesque church with an unfinished bell tower and ornate pulpit. The church features art by Dirk Bouts, including the famous Last Supper painting. Despite suffering damage during World Wars, it remains an impressive sight to behold. Adjacent to the town hall, this iconic landmark offers free entry and provides a glimpse into the city's rich religious and artistic history.
I was truly impressed by Saint Peter’s Church in Leuven. Its stunning Gothic architecture, magnificent chandeliers, and the beautiful sculptures and paintings inside create a breathtaking atmosphere. A must-see for art and history lovers!
Uğur A — Google review
Beautiful church in a beautiful city. Although the the inside is decorated a bit frugally compared to other churches, it still awes you with its majestic architecture and size.
David D — Google review
Leuven’s biggest cathedral and a nice place to visit while you’re in the town center. No ticket needed and while it’s cold outside this can also be a sanctuary if you’re looking for a little bit of warmth. That beside the point, the artworks and collections are quite amazing. There’s a dungeon that act as another praying room.
Cita W — Google review
Nice Church to visit in Leuven. Located near Grote market and Town hall. Entry is free and bus stop is very near to the church.
Shubham M — Google review
The origins of Sint-Pieterskerk (Saint Peter’s church) date back to the 10th century. Construction of this Brabant Gothic church continued through the 15th century with its towers used as a municipal belfry. Its belfry is part of the collection of Belgian belfries recognized by UNESCO. The interior is bright even on cloudy days thanks to the white colored walls and many large windows. It is free to enter the church.
Nanita — Google review
The Saint Peter’s Church is definitely one of the most important places to be in Leuven. You will find here the famous paintings of Dierick Bouts, medieval flamish artist from the 15th century. What impressed me most in on one side the medieval church with its uncountable numbers of arts and the long history behind the city of Leuven and on the other side the artificial intelligence driven guided tour allowing you to be part of the history. Don’t miss the tablet tour of Dierick Bouts! I hope that this cutting edge technology will be just the beginning of guided tours and will be further extended to more and more artists, painting and installing in this church. I do strongly recommend the guided tours offered by the tourism office. The guides are well educated, with a lot of historical knowledge and the educational background needed.
Michael S — Google review
This imposing church is so impressive that even if wasnt at its prime locations, will be easy to find. Once entered you will be well rewarded seeing the inner beauty, you can wander into the peace and quiet admiring the ornate interior Definitely worth a visit
DESISLAVA D — Google review
Fell into Leuven and this beautiful, elegant church. So impressed and a lovely fresh and light take on religion rather than some of the heavy and ornate churches. So lovely. The carved pulpit is a work of Art in itself.

Leuven Oude Markt is a lively and vibrant town square in Leuven, Belgium, known for its bustling atmosphere and picturesque surroundings. The square is adorned with charming open-air bars and restaurants housed in ornate gabled mansions, creating a delightful setting for visitors to enjoy shopping, dining, and nightlife. During the academic year, the population of the area is largely comprised of students, resulting in an abundance of cafes and student deals at restaurants.
Little gem of a town of the standard tourist track, with lovely medieval streets and plenty of cafes/bars/restaurants in the centre. Head out towards the Begijnhof to experience some really old cobbled streets that seem to be untouched by modern standards

The Oude Markt in Leuven (Belgium) is one of the city’s most famous landmarks and gathering places. It’s often nicknamed “the longest bar in the world” because the entire square is lined with cafés, bars, and restaurants, one next to the other.

Lively spot in the center of Leuven. The Oude Markt is full of terraces, cafés, and great energy at any time of day. Perfect place to meet friends, grab a drink, and enjoy the local atmosphere. Always something happening here.

The place is phenomenal. Cafe places are crowded, but they are very lovely. You can find everything over there: cafe places, restaurants, fast food, bars.. etc. It is better to walk around.. don't rely on a car because some streets are very narrow and cars are not allowed there. If you are looking for history, entertainment, and fun time. This is the best place

Historical place
Arenberg Castle, located on the banks of the river Dyle in Leuven, is a 16th-century castle that was renovated in the 19th century and is now part of a university campus. The castle has a rich history dating back to the 12th century when it served the lords of Heverlee and has been associated with nobility throughout its existence. Today, it houses the Faculty of Engineering of KU Leuven University.
It is so beautiful, and perfect place but it is such a pity that we forgot about public holiday and the castle was closed.
Vasila T — Google review
Superb surroundings and views, beautiful historical building. Nice gardens. Inside of the castle only 4 rooms to visit (guided tour mandatory because building is still on use for the architecture school of the University), with only paintings of the 2 historical owners families. No added value at all. Go and see the outside and the gardens.
Patrick M — Google review
A little castle that’s in the middle of KU Leuven campus so you’ll see a lot of students around jt. You can take a quick look around because of its size and enjoy the park around there afterward.
Cita W — Google review
Absolutely gorgeous grounds and a beautifully maintained castle! I happened upon Arenberg Castle not knowing anything about it (was just blindly doing a walking tour adventure of Leuven) and was delighted when I found it! The university also uses these grounds so you can see students hanging out all over (watch out for the bikers all over, like the rest of Leuven).
Holly F — Google review
This is one of my favorite places to visit whenever I'm in Leuven. A magnificent piece of architecture, art and history. A very beautiful place. You can enjoy the Arenbergpark surrounding the castle. You can play games with friend or family. Great for a long walk. A must see for people visiting Leuven! I have lots of great memories here. I hope you also make some.
Andesh H — Google review
Arenberg kasteel is definitely a place I recommend to day travel to - or just drive pass and make a stop there. In front of the castle is a beautiful park in which a lot of people picnic. The whole area of the castle is a university campus and even the castle is used for lectures etc.. U can go into the castle and look into the lecture rooms and some projectrooms (not sure if thats allowed! but it was possible...) Definitely recommend!! Beautiful place to visit for a couple hours
Phillip J — Google review

Cultural landmark
Park Abbey, located just south of Leuven in Belgium's Flemish Brabant province, is a well-preserved 12th-century abbey complex that offers guided tours and a museum showcasing religious art and artifacts. The museum houses an impressive collection of religious artworks, manuscripts, and medieval sculptures, providing insight into the region's spiritual and artistic heritage. The abbey grounds span 42 hectares and feature pathways, ponds, meadows, avenues of trees, and farmland for visitors to explore.
Honestly such a beautiful park with lots of scenery. We didn’t go in the abbey but we enjoyed the views from the outside and enjoyed a nice walk around the lakes and garden.
Becky M — Google review
If you live somewhere close to Park Abbey, you should definitely visit it. Especially in spring it is very beautiful and you can smell the odor of the flowers everywhere. By just walking around, you will find peace here. There is enough area to play games, to run and to do other fun activities.
Tarlan O — Google review
While the current expo wasn't really my cup of tea, that's no fault of the museum or even the talented artist/curator of the items. The audio tour of the abbey itself was very cool.

A hidden gem! Beautiful Abbey, graveyard, and surroundings. A quieter, more contemplative experience for the discerning explorer.
Tracy B — Google review
Park Abbey in Leuven is an absolute gem! 🌿 We often come here for walks, and every visit feels special. The combination of beautiful fauna and flora with the stunning, historic abbey creates a truly picturesque setting. What makes it even more impressive is that the abbey is still actively used for ceremonies, which adds a sense of authenticity and life to the place. The surroundings are full of treasures too — there’s a fantastic restaurant nearby where you can enjoy a delicious meal after your walk, and the farmers’ market with fresh local products is a real highlight. 🥖🍎 Don’t miss the museum either: it’s beautifully curated and gives you a deep appreciation for the history and culture of the abbey. Whether you come for peace and nature, history and architecture, or great local food, Park Abbey has it all. Highly recommended — one of Leuven’s most magical spots! ✨

The Historic Leuven Town Hall, located on the Grote Markt, is a stunning example of 15th-century Gothic architecture. Adorned with spires and 236 sculptures representing local scholars, artists, and nobles from the city's history, it stands as an iconic sight in Leuven. Despite surviving wars and even a WWII bomb that failed to explode, the town hall remains an impressive symbol of resilience.
The Royal Palace of Brussels (Palais Royal de Bruxelles) stands as a prominent landmark in the city and serves as the official palace of the Belgian monarchy. This building is certainly one that has impressed me the most while visiting Leuven. It is centre of Leuven. Leuven's Town Hall is the historic city's pièce de résistance. Moreover, it's one of the best-known Gothic town halls worldwide. It took three architects and thirty years to build it. Leuven's 'Hall of Fame' features 235 statues, which were only added to the facade after 1850.
Shubham M — Google review
A beautiful building in the center of Leuven with 235 statues to admire. It’s a must see if you are visiting Leuven. There are daily one hour tours in Dutch and English and on the weekend in French. In these tours you visit the interior of the building while learning about the history. The cost is 4 euros and you can buy tickets in the tourist office around the corner. Starting in September 2024, this building will be closed for renovation until 2029. So if you want to take a tour, I would recommend doing it now!

Magnificent and Magical - this is the most iconic spots in Leuven. Don’t forget to book a guided tour if you want to visit the interiors. The inside of the town hall is well preserved with wooden ceilings and chandeliers transporting us to that era. Very beautiful!!!

Such a beautiful city hall, happening square. Especially great in winter with Christmas lights. Preferable to go at-least once and to keep in your bucket list.

Spectacular building with a Flemish Gothic façade, although the remains of Leuven's first town hall, built in 1439 and located on the main square, are no longer preserved. It has been destroyed and rebuilt three times in the last hundred years, the last time after the Second World War. On the outside we can see 236 statues, all of them of important figures in the history of the city, arranged by floors: on the ground floor we find academics and artists, on the ground floor religious figures, on the first floor members of the nobility and finally, at the top of the towers, scenes from the Bible are represented.

Keizersberg Abbey, also known as Mont Cesar Abbey, is a 15th-century Benedictine monastery located in Leuven. The abbey is situated on a hilltop and features a castle-like appearance with its long surrounding wall. The site includes expansive public park and gardens, offering visitors a peaceful retreat from the city's hustle and bustle. Despite facing attacks and destruction throughout history, the abbey still stands as an impressive historical landmark.
Great example of a late 19th century abbey, with remnants of a 13th century castle wall and water storage being restored (works will end in 2025)

The abbey and its park/garden, is located on top of the Keizersberg, on the north side of Leuven. Relatively quiet (probably because it's not so easy to get to), you could definitely have a picnic and kick the football around here. You can also get a unique view of Leuven from the park.

Nice place. Very quiet and good view of the city. Perfect to relax and take some good pictures.
Leandro A — Google review
Too bad much has been lost to history but the climb is well worth the view on the city of Leuven. With a little imagination you can see how the Burgundian dukes of Brabant watched the town hall rise in the distance over half a millennium ago.

Highest point in Leuven. Nice place for picnics. Sadly the fences block all the view.
Mrunmayee K — Google review
A beautiful abbey with an amazing garden. Ideal for a walk or even a picnic. The fences take away a bit of the feeling and it doesn't seem to be taken care of that well (e.g. very long grass, trash), which is a bit disappointing.

Go on a mass time and don't miss the Gregorian Chant! Its so soulful! But reaching it from Leuven centre is a bit difficult and you've gotta walk all around the park to reach the entrance!

The Kessel-Lo Provincial Domain is a large, popular park with swimming pools, playgrounds, ponds, pedal boats and petting zoo as well as a cafe. In addition there are sports fields such as a ball sport field and skateboard ramp as well as a roller skating rink in the summer months. There is also an outdoor swimming pool open in the summer. The park has educational attractions such as a traffic park and bee house.
It's an exceptionaly cozy & beautiful location when the day it's warm and there is nothing to do around, so why not go there? Wander in nature, spot animals from the viewpoint or around the area, let your children play in playgrounds, or have a solo/family picnic

It is a great place to chill and enjoy the sounds of nature. A wide variety of birds can be seen here. This place is fairly big and is fitting for a nice and pleasant walk.
Pihu K — Google review
This park, and in particular the area of adventurous water play next to a sandy playground, conjures up an organised version of summer holidays spent playing next to a stream. My kids (under 10) love it. The only thing to watch out for, besides water safety and falls, is boisterous behaviour by some kids, as most will discover that one can also throw sand and mud at some point and they'll feel liberated enough to try this. It can get busy and a little crowded in some areas, but the play area is relatively well contained, so it's possible to maintain a decent level of supervision circulating the area. There is a charge for the car parking, but that seems fully justified. In the park itself they are remodelling an outdoor swimming pool, and there are accessible paths for taking a stroll, and various additional areas, including another water play tab, a nature focused area, ecological centre, sports facilities, and some sculptures.

Such a privilege to have a park like this! Small lakes, different paths, playgrounds, a small farm, tennis and mini-golf, and much more!
Bruno B — Google review
Still one of the most beautiful community parks around. The only downside is the frequent contaminated waters and the lack of adequate lightning along the paths in winter, which makes it dangerous for visitors and runners alike after sundown.
Laurens D — Google review
Stunning park for a lovely stroll, with a restaurant and cafe for refreshments, boating in the summer as well, play area for the kids and seating to just sit and enjoy the birds and views of the lake and surrounding areas. Have to pay for parking now but nice car park and it's only a few euros for the day. They also have a skate park, football and tennis courts and an area with donkeys and goats. Beautiful place, you won't be disappointed.

It's a nice place to go with kids with different playgrounds, a little farm, bees, lakes, special bikes terrain for kids to play in a safe zone, pedalo for kids starting 6yo, etc. There is one natural playground, and then there are different playgrounds with sand (the typical ones). There are two playgrounds with watee, one little Ploeterbad for babies or smaler kids anz one big one for sunny days. This is an outdoor artificial lake whit a playground where kids can have lot of fun. You have to pay attention because there are deeper spots with no indication. There is also an outdoor swimming pool for which you need to do a reservation, you need to be quick ;) There are two time slots in the morning and one in the afternoon. The water temrpature is most of the time 26°C and the highest spots are 1m30. Enough little bars/ restaurants to buy ice cream, burgers etc. (We didn't find healthy alternatives though, no fruits or so for kids, but hey you can take it with you too ;) ) recently saw there are also sandwiches ! Also take good shoes for the kids so they can have fun without bothering there is sand or mud in their shoes :p And also never a bad idea to take spare clothes for them :) We also went to Hal 5, 5 min with the car to have some good food (at Falafel habibi)

After the death of Sanda Dia and the shameful behavior of this university, but above all knowing that a clear and strong position has NEVER been taken regarding this tragedy and against the fraternity responsible for this boy's death, we can only give one star, because unfortunately zero stars is not an option. And obviously...justice is not equal for everyone.
Maura Z — Google review
The Materials Engineering department LOVES to do this cute lil thing in March where they celebrate International Women’s Day. Honestly? It's super artificial and performative when you actually look at how they treat women, especially the ones they don't like. Any woman who speaks up or reports being harassed or treated unfairly is encouraged to talk about it and do exactly nothing. They're super keen on keeping it quiet instead of actually dealing with it because some people's reputations are a lot more important than women. Also, they'll try to gas light by saying things like, “Oh he didn’t mean it,” or "It's a misunderstanding" or "he had a bad day" or even "that's what we used to go through back then so deal with it" or "this didn't happen to me as a woman so maybe you're making it up?". The ombuds is biased towards the department so it's totally not neutral at all & they're more interested in covering up for themselves than actually helping. The administrative heads Hoeyberghs & Dillaert do nothing except ensure nobody else in the department or outside knows about it. This only helps to make this weird cycle of fear & silence even stronger. Some students said they were scared to report what happened to them because nothing would happen and that's sadly true. It's designed that way, to belittle and break down all your defences and barriers so that ultimately you have no choice but to accept what's happening. One time I was walking up the stairs and I overheard this white man(some staff) talking to some woman in the hallway. (I know, it's a really weird coincidence that I heard it at the exact time, which normally doesn't happen at all) He was all annoyed that a student reported a guy for intimidating her, and he was like, “Why didn’t she come to me first?” He literally complained she didn't report it to him first so he could solve it "internally". Sorry, but she's not obliged to cover it up to protect your lil old boys club. Your feelings are NOT more important than her problems. It's super selfish and shady. Gross! Unfortunately, it's not just him. But do they talk about these things during their Women’s Day slideshow? Um, no. Also there was this awful experience that one of my classmates (who's an SA survivor and victim) had. She got this totally threatening email from some professor Seefeldt. He straight-up accused her of random things she never did and saying bad things about the department, saying that she was making them look bad - all because she was reporting harassment instead of covering it up so nobody outside would know. Let this sink in: a powerful white male professor threatening and embarrassing a helpless female student because he's worried as hell about his and his friends' reputation instead of the safety of women in his department. It's super clear his main concern was to protect himself, his friends and ensure these things didn't get out there. When he was called out he just ran off into the sunset. There was no apology for slandering, untruths or openly threatening one of his students. Nothing. So unprofessional! Do you want to deal with a professor like that? A white male academic using his power against a woman for exposing something instead of keeping it under wraps & ignoring it? Where have we seen that before? Remember this when you think about women in STEM fields and the many sad stories of harrassment AND the men who deny them. It's really sad there are so many similar stories of women in universities all around the world. This is just here at this department. Who knows about the rest and what's hidden there.

Like other gre edy universities in Europe and the UK, KU Leuven is targeting international students who pay higher tuition fees. Every year, such universities admit far MORE students than the city student housing supply can feasibly cover or accommodate. Results? - Rising and extremely expensive student housing rent every academic year. - Subpar accommodation offered by gre edy landlords exto rting students - Increasing urban sprawl as developers build more student accommodation properties outside the city - Higher carbon dioxide emissions caused by more students commuting out of town. Many international students are now living in satellite sleepy towns and suburbs like Herent and Tienen, because there's no student accommodation available anywhere in Leuven or Heverlee or Kessel-Lo. This would've been un think able 4 years ago. You can thank gre edy universities for housing rents in your city becoming grossly more expensive every year and unliv able. The university still refuses to di vest from problematic institutions! The way they handled Sanda Dia's case is truly shameful. Since the white students involved in the case are né po babies with relatives in high places, they were treated very well and protected, even now.
Moth M — Google review
One star because a young man named Sanda Dia died as a result of hazing practices by a fraternity at this university 💔 and the perpetrators received only community service and a ridiculous €400 fine. They were not even expelled from the university, as they come from influential families. This university does not properly protect its students, and its punishments are unjust.

Domus is a renowned establishment in Leuven, offering a diverse menu and an impressive selection of beers, including their own brews such as Con Domus and Met Domus. The restaurant is known for its relaxed atmosphere, making it suitable for business discussions. It's a popular choice among families due to its quick service and traditional Flemish dishes like stooflees and vol-au-vent.
I really enjoyed the experience here at Domus, thanks to the beautiful and cozy interior, all wood and brewery-mood. We ordered the Domus-beer meatballs + fries and chicken fillet with mushroom cream, everything was delicious and the size of the dishes was huge! The staff was super kind and spoke perfect English. Prices are average compared to other similar restaurants in Leuven (a bit higher with respect to Italy). I recommend this place for a nice typical Flemish dinner in Leuven city center.

A brewery that has been around long enough to be considered an institution in town. The decor is classic tavern style, cozy and warm. They brew their own beers and also offer a wide variety of bottled ones. The food menu includes their famous pasta, along with local dishes, many of which use their beers in the recipe. The spaghetti Bolognese comes in a large bowl and is surprisingly satisfying. Their recipe is not classic but somehow it's tasty. A great place for a beer and comfort food.

Domus was a great «brauhaus» to visit and dine in, especially since it was both dark, cold and rainy outside during out visit. The venue is the polar opposite of the outside we were in - warm, charming, relaxing and inviting! Their meals are hearty, filling and tasty and their very own homemade beers are also a plus. All in all was Domus a great visit, the food was generally quite good and the venue nice and the workers friendly and chatty, but it was hard to get ahold of them, it could sometimes be quite noisy and some of ours foods lacked some flavor and aroma. Still, Domus is a great place for a hearty meal.

A Culinary Journey at Baracca! We recently had the pleasure of dining at Baracca, and we must say it was an unforgettable experience! We opted for the five-course dinner, and each dish took us on a delightful journey of flavors that we weren't expecting. From the very first course, the surprising tastes began to unfold, showcasing the chef's creativity and mastery of Italian cuisine. Each plate was beautifully presented and thoughtfully crafted, highlighting fresh ingredients and exquisite flavors, all with their own unique twist. The attention to detail in both taste and presentation was remarkable. As we progressed through the courses, we were amazed by how each dish told its own story while perfectly complementing the next. It was a delightful rollercoaster of tastes, textures, and aromas that left us eagerly anticipating what would come next! One of the highlights of our visit was the open kitchen, which added a wonderful touch to the experience. Being able to see the chefs in action was both entertaining and reassuring, showcasing their dedication and passion for creating exceptional dishes. The service was incredibly pleasant, with the staff going above and beyond to make our experience memorable. The atmosphere at Baracca was very chill and welcoming, creating the perfect setting for a lovely evening. If you’re looking for a restaurant that truly elevates Italian dining with its own creative flair, we highly recommend Baracca. We came out of curiosity for the ambiance and the review. We were pleasantly surprised by the service, our waiters have been super friendly. We think we could be improved is the food. For the price point we expected everything to be prepared with culinary skills and thoughts. We were relatively disappointed by the simplest and the bland taste of the 2 dishes we ordered. The shrimp is simply covered with a premade sauce that can be found made in the supermarket, the tacos 🌮 are nicely fried but has not much any flavor. The pizza was the nightlight but the proportion feels small compared to the to the price that it costed. We have an overall nice finning experience with very kind server. If the cooking quality of the food improves we would love to recommend our friends and family to visit again.

The Fonske Statue stands tall, depicting the city's educational heritage. It is made of pouring glass in the brain, with books spilling out from the mouth and into the imaginary river below. Occasionally, it is dressed up in different costumes to represent different facets of Leuven's history. The statue is a wonderful addition to the square in which it stands, and is a great way to learn more about Leuven's rich educational history.
Beautiful spot (day abd night) to take a picture and look over tooth town hall, market and the church. It is a symbol for a great university town: “Fountain of Wisdom,” is a significant symbol of Leuven, Belgium. It represents the city’s vibrant student culture. The statue depicts a student pouring water (often interpreted as beer) into his head while reading a book, symbolizing the pursuit of knowledge and the balance between study and leisure.

Sculpture-fountain in the city center. It symbolizes the students life of the city. At first glance unattractive and strange, but after a closer look it becomes very interesting. It depicts a student who, while pouring beer into himself, explores the effects of alcohol on his mind. According to another theory, he pours knowledge into his head from a mug. Worth a visit.
Iza D — Google review
I appreciate how a statue can capture both humor and meaning in such a central place. As someone who values practical traditions and enjoys a bit of playfulness alongside structure, I like how Fonske mixes the pursuit of knowledge with local student culture, a nod to learning but never too serious. The fact that locals dress it up for events brings a sense of community and fun, much like the festivals I enjoy in my own city. It’s the kind of public art I’d stop for on a long cycling trip: distinctive, lighthearted, and yet deeply rooted in the spirit of Leuven.
Ruben K — Google review
Located in the heart of Leuven, Fonske is a unique statue. The pouring glass in the brain depicts the knowledge being poured into the brain by reading books. It depicts the educational heritage of city and the historical library. Occasionally the statue is dressed with different costumes.

İt's a MUST see place in Leuven simply because its in the middle of everything you have to see there. The Municipality, the Church, Oude en Nieuwe Markt are all around this statue (each 50m away). Tiensestraat is just above it, full of restaurants.

The Oude Markt in Leuven, Belgium, features a sculpture of a Kotmadam school landlady. The Kotmadam is an unrealistic depiction of a woman who sits on a bench, holding an old coffee can and wearing what looks like a nightgown.

(Translated by Google) The statue was inaugurated on May 16, 1985. It was a gift from the tourist office to the city of Leuven, but an original idea of the Marktrock committee. The inauguration was attended by Maria Swerts, the then oldest Leuven Kotmadam and also godmother of the statue. Despite the amusing nature of the image, the Kotmadam initially evoked mixed feelings. For example, the figure depicted did not correspond to the typical image of a Kotmadam: old and full-figured. On the contrary, the Kotmadam on the Oude Markt is a young and attractive lady. Anyway, over the years the statue has become an eye-catcher and many people have already taken a seat next to her or on her lap.

(Translated by Google) A classic in the city center of Leuven. Its popularity is due to the soap opera 'De Kotmadam', which used to run on VTM for years and revolved around a sweet shop owner who rented out rooms to students, which is exactly what Leuven is all about: students! The statue also has a meter, no less than the then oldest kotmadam in Leuven: Maria Swets. The Kotmadam is located on the Oude Markt in Leuven, which is also known as the longest bar in Europe and you will certainly notice why from the afternoon until the early hours! The only disadvantage is that the statue is right between the cafes where there are always outdoor terraces surrounded by this and from the afternoon onwards it is no longer easy to take a photo undisturbed without it being uncomfortable because there is always someone looking strangely like 'look at those tourists' or there will always be someone in the photo because of this.

Cute sip and read shop. They provide both indoor and outdoor places. The layout of the book store is pretty interesting and of course they serve coffee and dessert too. If you are a “book lover” or pretend to be a “book lover”, this is a perfect spot to hang easily for few hours with 1/2 friends.

very cute book and coffee shop. you can get drinks and read/buy books. there are also some areas where you could study. it’s very cosy
Flora A — Google review
Th review below is what i wrote when i came there. Since the owner has reacher out and apologised for what happened and also took action which i find extremely commandable. I haven't gone back yet, but I definitely will because they really made me feel heard in the problem and proved that they care a lot about costumer satisfaction! I went here today after a horrible day because a friend recommended this place. After drinking the worst homemade ice tea of my life and sharing the next drink (a coca cola) with my partner, we were just sitting and studying for about 15 minutes. When the lady (short blonde hair) came to ask us if we wanted something else, we said 'no thank you, not for a little bit' indicating that we were going to buy more drinks in a bit, but like I said we had literally just finished our last drink. She then said 'if you're not going to have more drinks, you have to leave. Be happy I let you guys sit here for so long'. Never have I been treated so rudely in my life. I told her 'we will be leaving then' to which she replied in an annoyed manner 'I'm sure you can understand'. The staff at the museum itself is very nice and I've heard the museum itself is wonderful. Be careful when making an opinion based on the reviews because the positives ones appear to be about the rooftop bar as well and we were in the coffee bar at the bottom. Please if you want a cup of coffee, take your money elsewhere. There are much nicer places with much better drinks!
Lena V — Google review
Edit: Had a chat with the owner and cleared up a lot of my concerns. They took quick and effective communication and really made feelings and concerns heard. Will try again to see how much the atmosphere improved. Wanted to study here with my partner but was asked to leave as i didn't hit the required amount of drinks an hour for me to be able to sit here. I had drank 3 drinks over the course of an hour and half. And I should be happy bc I was allowed to sit there and use the electricity. I've looked around and noticed on tripadvisor the same reviews as mine and that she is creating an environment that's just about getting as many people through the door. It ruins a cozy spot and makes it feel like a cashgrab. Never coming back.

Located in the heart of the city, Jan Fabre's Beetle Totem is a striking 23-meter-high art installation that commands attention. The totem features a jeweled beetle impaled on a needle, creating an awe-inspiring sight in contrast to the traditional and historic surroundings. Created by renowned Belgian artist Jan Fabre, this monumental bug spans 2.7 meters and is suspended high above on a needle.
It was quite a memorable noodle stick in the middle of the plaza.

It’s an interesting statue. And there was a morning market on Friday. I am not sure if the market would be there only or Friday or everyday. I was there at almost 12 noon and the market was almost closed. Only a few food trucks were left selling coffee, sandwiches, cheese, pickles, etc. what a pity I didn’t come earlier. It would be nice if I could enjoy my breakfast and coffee there.

The scarab beetle, an artwork made by Jan Fabre is a totem (23 meter) It is a tribute to beauty, science and knowledge and therefore a connection with the university library. But it makes it rather difficult to take a nice picture from the important historical library and that's a pity.

Gainsbourg is a barbecue restaurant that focuses on using high-quality ingredients, glowing charcoal, smoking wood, and carefully crafted spice blends to create delicious dishes. The menu features a variety of options including hot & fast style dishes like grilled ribeye as well as classic American low & slow dishes such as Texan short rib or brisket. Located just south of the city center, Gainsbourg is known for its skilled chefs who excel at preparing meat.
Very professional staff, but still very accessible. Food is what you expect from a BBQ-meat restaurant, fiery and tasteful. Side dishes could be a bit more, it's the absolute minimum amount from my opinion. But the meat is the show stealer, so 5 stars for the food. Atmosphere was very nice, a darker and cozy setting. Went here with a group of colleagues and representatives of a company. I also called because we were later than the reservation, no problem at all and my reservation was updated. Absolute an "again" please.

I've been here a few times and every visit has been excellent. Most recently we had the Eifel entrecôte and the Presa Duroc - both outstanding: tender, full of flavor, and grilled to perfection. The sides (grilled cabbage and jacket potato) complemented everything beautifully, and the cocktails were another highlight. We ended with the homemade vanilla ice cream, which was simply divine. The atmosphere is always warm and welcoming, making this a place I love coming back to again and again. Without a doubt, the top spot in town for BBQ and grill.

Found this place when walking around town. We didn't have a reservation. They had a table for us. Ordered smoked chicken gyro style and brisket. The brisket was very tasty (5 stars). I would prefer them to take off the larger chunks of fat off the brisket before serving. The smoked chicken was also good, but not a big portion. (-1 star). The place is cozy and the staff was friendly. We'll come again.

Lovely food. Brisket and Texas short ribs are to be trired! So juicy and melt in your mouth. Staff are really friendly and give a good service and the atmosphere is real cosy. Sides are on the expensive side though. Amazing cocktails and best desserts
Mariam M — Google review
I definitely love the staff (matured guy with a glasses) who take his time to explain about the dishes and the drinks. It gave another meaning of "just serving the food or drinks" to giving some idea and vision of how things are made. The price are on a pricey side as cocktail are classy small size (the tequila tasting were amazing but it was filled a bit and when I asked if i can refilled it, the young guy took away the bottles, as it seems like I lost his trust 🤣). There were indoor and outdoor dining. Indoor are very cozy steakhouse concept with wood theme with dimmed light as you can feel it yourself. The toilet is proper and love the bar (display of the bottles with lights). Outdoor is very well equipped for all sorts of weather. My financé and I ordered the grill plates but it was too much for both of us to even finish everything. After 2 hours later, we were able to finish it (on a bright side) but i left a bit of side dishes. So portion wise were fantastic! The rib were not that bad but it was terribly dried out. At least we were very happy with the rest of the meats as we fell in love with the Texas short ribs! We have never had amazingly roasted meat. Also I would recommend skipping the appetizer for those people who doesn't eat a lot as the portion are a lot. Unless you will take your time to eat it, which is possible then you can always order appetizer. As for us, we went for dessert as I took tequila flight (i discovered different types of Mexican tequila and i can't believe i missed it out when I visited Mexico myself). It was very fun concept of bottles will be displayed in front of you so you can enjoy extra and take a look at the bottle (who knows you want to buy it somewhere). Also it was interesting mix of sweet, normal to spicy one! In contrary, my financé ordered panacotta and i have to say it was super delicious! So i highly recommend! Overall i definitely recommend this restaurant! I can't wait to eat their Texas short ribs next time!

The Universiteitsbibliotheek en bibliotheektoren, also known as the University Library and Library Tower, is a must-see attraction in the city. The library's stunning architecture and vast collection of books make it a sight to behold. Visitors can explore the interior of the library and even access the tower for panoramic views of the city. The building has a rich history, having served three different universities over the years.
The library underwent severe bombings and damage during two world wars but re-built again. It is a mixture of the old and new. The clocktower gives you the best view over Leuven. The small photos and explanations on the sides of the top balcony tells you what each building is. The entrance is free to students and 7 euros for adults.

The Universiteitsbibliotheek en bibliotheektoren (KU Leuven library and tower) is worth a visit. The exterior alone is eye catching. To tour the library and tower, purchase tickets onsite, download the app to hear the audio guide (remember to bring your headphones / earplugs) and enjoying learning about the history of the historic landmark. Touring the tower includes at least 150 steps from the entrance to the tower up to the top. The ascent is broken up with information provided on each floor. Both the tour of the library and the tower is highly informative and includes the history of the library and the international ties that made the refurbishment of this historic landmark possible. For the visit, there are lockers for free for anything you are carrying with you are it is prohibited to enter with bags of any kind. Highly recommend. Entrance including tour of the tower was €8.
Nanita — Google review
The building is absolutely stunning from the outside. We paid €2 each for the student-rate library tour, which included entry to the room shown in the photos. However, access was limited to a small 2x3 meter area — we weren’t allowed to walk around or explore further. In our opinion, the library tour alone isn’t worth it, as everything you’ll see is already shown in the photos. The ticket also includes a mobile app tour audio, but unfortunately, it didn’t work for us. We didn’t do the tower tour, so we can’t speak to that experience. On a positive note, the staff were very friendly and welcoming.
Louis W — Google review
You have pretty limited access to the library but it could be because the students are actively using them. The main attraction at least is to visit the tower. It’s not too high but you get a clear view of the city from the top.

Beautiful library worth a visit even if not to read. It was rebuilt after the 1914 fire, but it still has beautiful wood panelling, large windows and huge industrial, early 1900 lamps. We visited when it was open to the public, otherwise visitors can enter the library by buying a daily card (5 eur?).

This cafe is amazing, in the summer they have a huge terrace, in the winter they have a cozy inside bar. The food is also really great for the price. We ordered two wraps. While my partner enjoyed the wrap, I didn’t. The plate, on which my food was brought, was dirty. It didn’t make my meal pleasant. The drink was far too basic for being home made and 4 euro’s (store juice). The homemade lemonade is just water with a little lemon juice in it. The price for the amount of food was decent. It’s really a place for students, which makes the atmosphere lively and fun. The outdoor setting is also spacious. We enjoyed the vibe of the place, but not the food. Just manage your expectations for this place.

Nice atmosphere and friendly vibe. The onion soup was really good, but I didn’t love the meatloaf with cherry sauce and the chowder with meat balls and chicken. Overall, the food seemed good quality, just not all to my taste.

The staff were incredibly kind and friendly. The young waitress who served us even asked where we were from, and we chatted for a bit. The portions are huge, and please don’t be put off by the presentation – my husband got his stuffed bread in a plastic container with a lid, we received our tortilla on a plastic tray, and the salad came in a plastic bowl. Despite that, the food was delicious and excellent. It feels like having lunch at your grandparents’ house.

A restaurant & cafe located in a small square & frequented by scores of students from the local university. It has a vibrant and energetic atmosphere which makes the place great for a quick bite or drink. The servers, who seem to be students as well, are friendly and helpful, and the food was good. There is some indoor seating, but all the action takes place in the large outdoor area that spills out toward the center of the square. If you're touring Leuven this is a great spot to soak up the local atmosphere, and if you want to sit outside when it's cold don't worry - they give you blankets!

Würst is a restaurant in Leuven that offers a unique take on traditional German sausages. The industrial interior and innovative concept have made it a success. They offer a variety of options, including an XL version of their Greek dog, Caesar dog, and Chili dog. The Chilli Dog is highly recommended, featuring a juicy sausage with spicy chili, melted cheese, and guacamole. The restaurant also offers vegetarian options for all items on the menu.
The food was very good, and the service was also excellent. I enjoyed being able to see them grilling the barbecue—it smelled and tasted delicious.
Sookhee L — Google review
Extremely average food. If you arent picky and you just want something easy, this is a nice spot. But.. It seems they are overcompensating for their lack of attention to the meat by overloading their buns with toppings and sauce. If the sauces were better, the toppings better balanced, then I would give a higher score. But I could easily get something of equal quality for half the price from a grocery store. The interior is modern and the staff very friendly.
Hollanda T — Google review
TL;DR I’m celiac and went for the gluten-free options but the buns & fries made in a shared convection oven with gluten-containing items, so the bowls are the safest option. I went here yesterday to try the hot dogs and I ended up having a delicious meal, however I was a bit disappointed initially because I couldn’t actually get the haute dogs with a bun or the fries. They seem knowledgeably about celiac and the mostly the whole menu can be made gluten free, however the buns and fries are made in a shared convection oven (which circulates air, and thus gluten) with gluten/containing buns, etc. This is unavoidable for the buns because they have to cook from frozen and that can’t be done on their grill. At first they didn’t realize this and did say it’s safe, but as soon as I mentioned it about the fries, the staff went out of their way to tell me that the buns are prepared the same way so I could make a decision to not get it, I appreciated that a lot! They do have a separate grill and ingredients, so I ended up getting a Caesar bowl which was delicious and I didn’t get sick. Personally I’m more careful so I didn’t trust the buns and fries, but it’s up to you and your tolerance. I really hope they can get a separate method for the gluten free buns and fries so we can enjoy them safely too!

Relatively affordable and great for vegetarians/vegans. Centrally located, but not near any of the main restaurant streets which allows for a nice break from the crowds. Staff was very friendly (only a small mix up in the order). Service was quick!

Food here is amazing. I had the dog monsieur, coleslaw, potato wedges and grapefruit limonade. It may sound pedestrian. It's not. It's the foods we take for granted taken to 11. I simply cannot describe how delicious The coleslaw is. I would rather you come try it yourself.

Balls & Glory in Leuven, Belgium is a cozy eatery located at Tiensestraat 31, offering delectable Too Good To Go baskets filled with their famous handmade meatballs and other delicious treats. The traditional Belgian Meatball is transformed into a tantalizing experience with twelve meat and veggie ball options. The restaurant boasts a beautiful hanging garden at the back, balancing the modern interior. Their menu features stuffed balls with stoemp & salads, reminiscent of home-cooked meals.
The folks at Balls & Glory were super nice. Our waitress spoke great English for those in the party who needed it. She was super helpful as well. Our food was delicious, and the portions are pretty big as well. The flavors were lovely and everything was well cooked. We especially appreciate the fact that it's farm to table. We will definitely be visiting again.

Leuk eenvoudig eten, goede sfeer en gratis appels. We tried their arancini ratatouille and chicken truffle balls! It feels authentic even though it's not that wow. The price may be a little expensive for students, but it's worth to try!

GLORIOUS BALLS Great meatballs and fries, there is even a gluten free option. The prices are quite affordable and the service is quick and polite. Nice place, overall highly recommended.

Beautiful place, the inside is really original with the open kitchen. The food is really good, all based on meatballs (classic and unusual). The price is excellent. We had a little problem with the service, but the waiter offer us the dessert. Very kind of him
Matilda C — Google review
Very nice staff. Tasty food, however I found the portions on the small size comparing to the price. Also felt like the mashed potato was warmed up (microwaved or sth) as it was still slightly cold. But definitely delicious.
Naghmeh F — Google review
Tasty food, but it felt more like a homecooked leftover meal to me, rather than a fresh one. I mean, it was still in the spirit of their business idea: "du slow food servi rapidement". For me it felt like the mashed potato was microwaved and maybe the meat ball was freshly fried on the spot, but cannot guarantee. The taste wasn't to die for, but not bad either. Mediocre, but hopefully smth authentic, so I have no regrets. I was on the rush and the microwave method served me well, I guess😅

Very tasty and fresh food, amazing cold pasta and veggie rice ball! I Ordered via Uber Eats and the packaging of the food was very nice and practical to keep the food warm. Good visual too. The only minus point is the price, pretty expensive especially for the cheese balls and dessert. But otherwise the food was amazing!

It's a nice concept, friendly staff ... quantity of food is also good. But the taste of the food is not the greatest. It's not bad - but given the other choices in the area, you would think twice before coming back. But good for a try out

We stayed in the Theatre Hotel Leuven. We arrived 20 minutes early (1.40 pm), while the check-in was 2.00 pm. However, our room didn't get ready till 2.30 pm. The manager said a person is cleaning the whole hotel, which was not what we expected. Waiting in a breakfast area with no AC on a hot day was SO terrible. The hotel doesn't even have a proper lobby. Rather than apologising for the late check-in, the manager blamed us for arriving early. She was very rude. For an expensive price, the room was not good. Completely different from the photos!!! The room was super hot with a small fan. No AC at all! It was a terrible experience and I don't recommend this hotel at all!

The vintage interior adds to the charm of this meeting place for coffee enthusiasts. Patrons praise the rich flavors of espresso and delectable pastries such as cinnamon rolls and caramel cake.
The coffee and dessert are really good here, the staff are super nice and helpful. The outside seating area is nice and the location is really great and central. I tried the banana bread and it’s really tasty; just like the homemade ones, it’s not very sweet and sugary so that’s perfect. Would definitely recommend this place if you’re in Leuven.

Friendly service. Very busy place. Drinks can take awhile to arrive. Love the overall casualness of the space but it's unfortunate that it very hard to get data connection. Otherwise it would be a 4 star from me. But maybe they provide free WiFi. I didn't ask the staff but there wasn't any WiFi key on the wall or counter.

Our first time here, and we instantly fell in love with this place! The interior is both unique and cozy, the atmosphere warm and welcoming, and the girls working here are incredibly kind. We were especially happy to meet the barista – our fellow Ukrainian – which made us feel right at home. The coffee is simply outstanding, and the fact that it’s dog-friendly is the cherry on top. One of the best coffee in Leuven... Their desserts are always sooo delicious! My favorites are cinnamon rolls and crumble. It's almost always crowded, might get a little noisy too. There are tables that you can sit and study and there are also "no laptop" tables that people who wanna enjoy their coffee can sit and chat. It's KU Leuven students' favorite cafe I'd say!
Deniz E — Google review
The three stars is due to: I used to love being there very much before the terrible experience from today :( It used to be my top favorite escapes from the daily routine for a good quality coffee, but very unfortunately today I was treated very badly, with the misfortune of being served by one of the people (the other people were always very nice and kind to me) who, without the slightest patience, decided to yell at me and bang on the table while saying "oh okay, so you really want a v60" and leave without letting me react.... at the time I was still paralyzed trying to understand what message she was trying to convey to me by saying "we are very busy, it will take a long time, how much time do you have" and surprisingly my lack of response because I was still trying to reason about what the central message was led her to freak out for no reason... I felt terrible and I'm wondering if I'll still go back there :/ ... nobody likes to be treated like that, right?

Bittersweet in Leuven is a must-visit for chocolate enthusiasts seeking unique and innovative flavors. This chocolatier stands out by using unconventional ingredients like coffee, vinegar, gin, and cardamom to craft pralines with distinct taste profiles. The shop offers an array of unexpected shapes such as skulls and Lego blocks, adding to the allure of its offerings. Visitors are drawn in by the tantalizing aroma emanating from this quaint establishment near the train station.
A super nice woman helped me with the pralines. They have a really nice selection of delicious flavors and a lot of really interesting flavors that I can’t wait for to taste! I ordered a box for 14,50 with lots of self chosen pralines. At the end she even gave me a little present with an extra chocolate! That made my day so happy. The box came with a little book filled with all the flavors, like this I can read back what I bought and it makes me want to try more! I tried just one praline yet but I loved it and I am shore that the others are not going to disappoint me.

Rish _ — Google review
Chocolate was just ok in my book until I discovered Bittersweet chocolate in Leuven; now I’m hooked! Located on the main road leading from the train station, Bittersweet offers top quality pralines in unique shapes and less traditional flavors. One of the most notable is in the shape of a robot that is ginger flavored. There are a few other unique shapes including what looks like a Lego piece. As for the flavors, you’ll find some with cardamon, rice pudding, and popcorn. There’s a new flavor - dolce de leche - that was incredibly addicting! Aside from the pralines that can be purchased on the go quickly in small, medium €20 or large €40 boxes (you can also select the pieces you want), there are seasonal items too. Earlier this year around Easter time they had massive chocolate eggs that looked like they were spray painted accompanied by smaller eggs. Bittersweet also sells chocolate covered almonds in a jar for €12 that are also easy to give as gifts or else treat yourself. Belgium is synonymous with chocolate and after visiting Bittersweet on each return trip to Leuven, chocolate is now synonymous with Bittersweet for me. Excellent service, ability to order in advance, exciting flavors and consistent quality. Highly recommend!!

I don't know taste because it is going to be present. But I know that a lady who is working there was very kind, helpful, friendly .I had a problem to choose.Every single piece look great and I'm sure also very tasty
Maxo — Google review
The chocolate is shaped in a modern style, and looks absolutely amazing. Moreover, the people are very friendly there, and ready to answer any questions about their chocolate. It is indeed home made, one can see it happen, as they are working on it right next to the costumers. Nevertheless, the taste is a bit artificial, which makes it inferior to other local Belgian chocolate manufacturies.

Richard H — Google review
As far as forests go, this one is really not that great. Sure, forests don't need to be all that special but this one is just really bland, with barely any differentiating features between places. Worst part about it all though, is the great amount of cut down trees you'll find, makes it feel very industrial. If you want to visit anyways, I'd recommend the part of the forest on the northern side of the highway (E40), since this one is a lot more engaging to stroll through. Keep in mind however I'm reviewing this while the leaves haven't grown on yet, so the summer experience may differ slightly, because of this I will round my rating up to a 4 from a 3.

The church is also known for its interesting sculptures nearby, including Renee by Armand Loveniers and Fons Sapientiae by Jef Claerhout.
Stunning gothic church.

This church opened after a long period of renovation. This church was partly destroyed by a stray bomb during second world war. Lots of it has been rebuilt. But the beautiful wooden confession chambers survived that is visible today.

Baroque-style church located on Naamsestraat. It is situated amidst the bustling city streets, offering a serene and imposing presence. The church leads to Hogeschool Plein. It is one of the numerous churches in Leuven.

It is a three-aisled Baroque style monument built between 1650 and 1671. When viewed from a bird's eye view, its cross-shaped plan can be noticed.

The Depot is a beautiful concert hall that attracts a lot of national and international artists. It recently underwent a full renovation, which has resulted in stunning acoustics. The staff are great and the vibe is wonderful. There are two seating options - either to sit close to the stage or to seat at tables - which makes it perfect for those who want to experience the concerts fully or for those who just want to take some notes.
Wonderful concert hall, which attracts a lot of national and international artists. The building has recently been fully renovated, simply amazing, beautiful acoustics. I experienced some of the most beautiful and intimate concerts here. Really great staff, great vibe.

Good acoustics, friendly staff, clean restrooms. Good ventilation.

Best of class in the region. Welcoming atmosphere in this concert hall of Leuven. Lots of volunteers at the bar and registry, which makes everything feel no nonsense and with a local feel. They have great programmation, top of the bill performances mixed with little known gems you have got to explore and discover. Nice staff all round, amenities and elevator for wheelchair users. Some nice bars in the vicinity too. Get to know the artists you just have seen playing on stage in a non conforming way in the bar/lounge. Some great parties and afterparties too sometimes. Definitely a place to visit and enjoy when visiting Leuven.

Perfect mid-small venue for indoor events and concerts. Good seating, large area for a crowd around the stage. One of the most nice sounding venues I've been to, very good speakers and well sound treated.

The Catholic English Speaking Community of Leuven is a warm and inclusive church that welcomes everyone. The Mass is always a magnificent and joyous celebration, filled with a strong sense of community and numerous engaging activities. Despite its small size, it truly feels like home and is widely regarded as one of the most vibrant churches in Belgium. Daily Mass takes place at 6:00 pm, while Sunday Mass offers a beautiful liturgy at 9:00 am.
Well I was well received as a newbie at St Quintin by the Catholic English Speaking Community especially my fellow black people. Awesome

The Saint Quentin's Church or Sint-Kwintenskerk (in Dutch) is a Roman Catholic church located at the Naamsestraat in Leuven, Belgium. Its exterior is mainly Gothic with a Baroque entrance portal. The interior contains Baroque choir stalls and altars. The church is named after the Saint Quentin, who is regarded in the Catholic faith as a protector against a wide range of contagious diseases.
Vitalie C — Google review
Like the name says, it's an English speaking community. Lot of international Catholics come here to fulfill their Sabbath obligation. There's a communal meal after the mass.

I lived in Leuven in 1987 - 1988 and used to join Misa at Sint Kwinten Kerk at 10:00 Sunday morning, I was 23 years old, KUL student at the time... from Indonesia. I wonder if this lovely Church is still open today. I plan to visit Leuven to join the Misa at this Church. It was Vader Reinhard van de Berg in my time there but to bad that I could not meet him when I visited Leuven with my wife... long years ago. I am now almost 60 years old and waiting a chance to visit Leuven again.

The Dijlepark is a small, hidden park in Leuven, Belgium. It's the perfect place to relax in the summer or catch up with friends in the spring. The park has a picturesque bridge and lovely lawns, making it ideal for a quiet picnic or for taking in the sights and sounds of Leuven.
Quite little park with a fun bridge. My favorite time is during the frog mating season when the frog song is strong. Nice grassy areas for picnics and chats.
John P — Google review
What is supposed to be a hidden / romantic / peaceful park is actually rather dirty and poorly kept. The water of the pond is filthy and littered with trash, the plants around it suffer or die. The grass isn’t homogenous with too many bald / muddy spots. Not a single flower to be observed even though I visited it during peak springtime. Come on Leuven, you can do better than this!
Bruno V — Google review
Really beautiful small park, it has a very old picturesque bridge in a bow going over the pond, in spring it is a breeding spot for frogs. Throughout spring and summer it is an amazing spot for picnics, it is right in the center of Leuven, but it feels like you are in nature and the business from the city flows away for a while.
Stef ( — Google review
It's a small park, it's publicly accessible and it looks nice. Do people honestly look up reviews for small public parks? Oh well: The frogs can be pretty loud at times though. Just in case people read this for their research before deciding they'd like to have their romantic picnic here or before they come here to read a book expecting silence or something...

The Balloon of Friendship sculpture is a whimsical 8 metre high artwork that stands out from the rest of the architecture in Leuven. Made to represent friendship, its bright colours and happy design are sure to please children and adults alike.
Fun statue, I loved it as a child and I still really do. It resembles friendship. Peace and love

(Translated by Google) Sculpture created by Belgian artist Danny Tulkens in 1987, and represents the ties of friendship in Leuven. It was really created as a tribute to the associations for men over 40 that exist in the city. The work is configured by a balloon with four friends inside. It was previously located in another part of the city, Herbert Hooverplein, but in 2019 it was moved to the current location, and some changes were made to the sculpture by the artist himself.

(Translated by Google) During our walk through Leuven, we came across one of the city's most striking artworks: the Friendship Balloon. The sculpture, a giant hot air balloon with a basket full of figures, stands prominently and immediately draws attention—not an everyday occurrence on a city walk. It has a playful yet symbolic quality: it invites you to pause and reflect on the concept of friendship in an urban context. The artwork is several meters tall and dominates its location, making it a good anchor point during a city visit.

(Translated by Google) Artist Dany Tulkens designed the 8-meter-high balloon in 1988, commissioned by "the association of years" as a gift to the city. He wanted to convey that with friends around you you can transcend everyday worries. The statue stood on Herbert Hooverplein for almost 30 years, but has now been given a new place, the flower bed opposite the bus station on Martelarenplein. To move the balloon, exceptional transport had to be arranged.

(Translated by Google) Impressive statue from 1988 by Danny Tulkens that really comes into its own in its new location near the station when you walk to the Diestsestraat to go shopping. HLN 2019: 'Balloon of Friendship' will be placed in a new location at the station next month The famous statue 'Balloon of Friendship' will return to Leuven early next month. Not to the familiar spot on Herbert Hooverplein, but to the square at Leuven station on Tiensevest. The Royal Association of Years donated the statue to the city of Leuven in 1988. They are preparing for the festivities surrounding the move next month. “After more than a year, new air and a place have been found. It will reappear on the streets at the beginning of August. We are still looking for a sponsor to provide our visitors with a safety vest, but preferably not yellow," says chairman François 'Swa' Michiels. “As chairman, I now call on all standard bearers to attend the inauguration. I will ask AB InBev for at least one barrel of Stella to drink away the first emotions and thus provide us with the necessary courage to experience this event," said the chairman. The move of the statue was also the reason to adjust the 'balloon' a bit. In consultation with artist Danny Tulkens, the heavy legs were replaced by a pedestal. The basket under the balloon was also replaced. This is not the first time that the statue has been adjusted. When the statue was unveiled in 1988, there was not even a balloon due to stability problems. A while later, those problems were solved, thanks to KU Leuven, and a second official unveiling followed. The 'Friendship Balloon' was also adapted in 2006. After the theft of one of the characters in the balloon basket, artist Danny Tulkens decided to renew all the images. The copper characters were replaced by heavier bronze statues unveiled in 2007.
