Casinò di Sanremo is a historic municipal casino housed in a magnificent art nouveau building. The surrounding area offers a delightful stroll along the promenade, shaded by iconic palm trees and featuring luxurious villas and beautiful gardens. Visitors can explore attractions like Villa Ormond with its enchanting park, the ancient Cathedral of San Lorenzo, and the domes of the Orthodox Church. At night, the casino comes alive with an alluring atmosphere where everyone can partake in thrilling games.
Fun experience for me. It was my first time playing in casino. The ambiance is great. Staff are welcoming and friendly.

Slot machine iz ok but you are not allowed to enter the main casino in shorts which is not usual for acasino in Asummer vacation city

Wasn’t a casino experience for us. The people that goes into the private area are not the type of people you expect to see, so don’t waste an outfit… just wear jeans and a polo and You will be totally fine… We end up going to the slot machines because was more ambient than the upstairs room. 🤷🏽‍♂️🤷🏽‍♂️ ⭐️ The building itself is magnificent! 👌🏽

Guy W — Google review
We are very occasional gamblers, but like to visit a casino on holiday. So we wandered into this one in Sanremo. Staff at the front were friendly and we went into the large room with slot machines. Tried a few machines and cashed out if we didn't like it. Then we found a machine downstairs and things went haywire. The machine took a large bet without playing, so we asked for help. The staff member pressed buttons and 20 euro drained away. A manager was called who badgered us to play on. I refused and asked for our original stake of 24 euro back. By this time 5 members of staff were around us!! I told them that this intimidation tactic was out of order and we were more resolved to not be strong armed into going away. At this point the manager took some notes and told us to wait. We chatted amicable with one of the staff for a while and the other 3 drifted off. At least half an hour later a piece of paper was given to us begrudgingly and we were told to go to the cashier. We did get out money back, but the initial somewhat aggressive treatment has prompted me to give a rare one star review.

A classic old school Mediterranean casino. Not as big and glamorous as Monte Carlo, naturally, but very nice and quaint. Located in the middle of a wonderful town and nearby the beach.

Great looking building. Very well lit during the night. Inviting with a red carpet and well maintained surroundings. Situated in the heart of Sanremo, it is for some the reason they go to Sanremo since it's one of the most popular casinos in the area.

Villa Nobel, named after the renowned scientist Alfred Nobel, is a striking Moorish-style mansion dating back to 1870. It served as a retreat and laboratory for Nobel's scientific pursuits during the late 19th century. The villa now hosts the 'Discover the 19th Century' exhibition showcasing technological advancements of that era and Nobel's contributions across various fields. Additionally, visitors can explore rooms dedicated to Nobel's life and personality.
Great place to spend first half of a day. Opening hours 9:30-12:30. Exploring the villa takes around 1 hour. €7 per adult, €5 per kid. The villa and surrounding garden is lovely. Our kid, and us, adults, loved it.
Andrei M — Google review
Elegant and peaceful, Villa Nobel is a beautifully preserved 19th-century residence with stunning gardens and sea views. It was the final home of Alfred Nobel, and today it hosts a small museum about his life and legacy. A quiet and inspiring spot for history lovers, just a short walk from central Sanremo.
Aleksandra M — Google review
We visited Villa Nobel on a Thursday, one of the few days it's open, and walked there from Sanremo’s city center in about 15 minutes. It's a quiet, historically significant place that will mostly appeal to those already interested in Alfred Nobel. The exhibitions are primarily in Italian, but there’s a multilingual audio tour you can follow on your phone. We already knew quite a bit about Nobel, so we were able to piece things together fairly well even without translations. The villa is beautiful but could use some maintenance. Some areas were closed off, including the top floor, and one floor appeared to be used as offices. Seeing Nobel’s bed where he died felt slightly odd, but it was respectfully presented. Worth visiting if you're genuinely interested in Nobel and his legacy. We noticed quite a few other Swedish visitors, which wasn’t too surprising.

Our wedding at this venue was truly magical. Venetia, the event manager, was such a great help and made everything run so smoothly. The catering by Prime Quality was great, with delicious food and great service. It honestly felt like a dream come true.

Charming villa, 2 floors and lovely terrace, overlooking the Sea. I would highly recommend to visit 😊 . The reception lady is very friendly. Cozy furniture of the house and Interesting exhibition of achievements of Alfred Nobel at the basement floor.

A visit to Sanremo wouldn't be complete without exploring the enchanting Porticato de La Pigna, a historic district that invites you to wander through its narrow, cobblestoned streets. Established in the 11th century and named for its pinecone-like layout, this area was fortified over the years to protect against Moorish pirate raids. The charm of La Pigna is particularly delightful during summer when its cool alleys provide a refreshing escape from the heat.
(Translated by Google) It is beautiful to cross it especially in the summer heat because it is a cool and rewarding place. It is an interesting journey in the heart of La Pigna, the historic district of the City of Flowers and the Festival 🎉🌺 You reach the Piazzetta Oratorio dei Dolori with the Oratory of San Sebastiano, built by vote of the citizens after the liberation from the plague of 1502. In the center of the square is the characteristic fountain of the Fonderia Sociale Torino. (Translated by Google) There's a part of Sanremo called "La Pigna." It's the historic center, with its hilltop houses overlooking picturesque squares. I had the opportunity to live there, in an apartment in the La Pigna neighborhood. The aromas of fusion cuisine, prepared by residents of various ethnicities, permeate the air. You'll also find artists who have decided to open their workshops in rustic spaces where blacksmiths and fishermen once lived. Everything seems magical, among the narrow streets they call "caruggi." Living there, even for a few days, is a unique experience. (Translated by Google) The portico or tunnel of the Pigna district is an unknown and hidden medieval masterpiece of the city of Sanremo. You enter through the historic doors and literally pass under the houses, where there are a couple of shops but above all breathtaking glimpses and views of the medieval architecture of the neighborhood. It's beautiful to climb the stairs under these pointed arches and not see beyond the bottom due to the helical geometry. Look at the photos to understand, it is essential to visit this magnificent place. Furthermore, in summer it is also a sheltered and cool place compared to the outside. È bellissimo salire le scale sotto questi archi a sesto acuto e non vedere oltre fondo per via della geometria elicoidale. Guardate le foto per capire, è essenziale visitare questo posto magnifico. (Translated by Google) Wandering through the picturesque alleyways and colorful shops that enliven the village is a pleasure in any season, especially in summer. You can easily reach the Church of San Giuseppe, or, with a little patience, the Oratory of San Costanzo and the Church of the Madonna della Costa. No less fascinating is Borgo Tinasso and the mosaic discovered by chance, with its card players that seem to tell forgotten stories. There's no shortage of surprises along the way: that's the beauty of strolling slowly. Just open your eyes and ears to what's around you and follow that subtle inner feeling, which rarely deceives.

The Russian Orthodox Church in San Remo, built in 1912, is a significant symbol of the city. It was constructed to accommodate the large Russian community that frequented San Remo during the early 20th century. The church features distinctive round domes typical of Russian architecture and is located at the beginning of Empress's Promenade, named after Tsarina Maria Alexandrovna.
Amazing architecture. A little taste of Russia and russian orthodox religion. It is a unique sight and a hidden treasure within the strongly catholic Italy. Worth to visit!

Very nice, coloured Russian orthodox church in San Remo. But it's relativel small and beeds a bit of renovation (of paintings).
Bogdan T — Google review
The church is small but beautiful. However, I was disappointed by the entrance policy. Outside, there's a sign about paying a voluntary donation to enter, but when you actually go you're forced to pay. I think it's misleading and takes away from the welcoming spirit one would expect from a place of worship.
Catalina M — Google review

Discovering this church during our day trip from Nice to Sanremo was a delightful surprise. We were accompanied by our mother, who grew up in Russia and wasn't aware of the historical significance of this place. Unfortunately, we couldn't explore inside due to a mass. Fortunately, right across the street, we found an excellent Russian food shop. The lady inside was incredibly knowledgeable and shared valuable insights about the church's history.

What a beautiful surprise!! This small church had amazing sculptures and paintings. If you are already at the top of the hill, it is certainly worth visiting.

At the top of the Pigna, this fantastic sanctuary dedicated to the Virgin is particularly important to the inhabitants of San Remo who could spot it when they were at sea. Erected to celebrate the liberation from Doria rule in 1361, the building today presents a structure that was remodeled in the Baroque period. Inside, it's the opportunity to admire a painting of the Virgin and Child by Nicolo da Voltri (15th century), considered miraculous.

Mairbek C — Google review
Tucked away above the old quarter of La Pigna, the Giardini Regina Elena offer a peaceful green escape with a touch of history and a generous dose of Ligurian charm. While not a destination garden in the grand sense, it’s a lovely spot to pause and take in the surroundings: - 🌳 Quiet and leafy: Shaded paths, benches, and mature trees make it a pleasant place to rest after climbing through the narrow streets below. - 🌄 Panoramic views: From the garden’s edge, you get sweeping vistas over San Remo’s rooftops and the sea beyond — especially striking at sunset. - 🏛️ Historic setting: The gardens sit near old oratories and staircases that echo the medieval character of the neighborhood. - 🌸 Seasonal charm: While not always bursting with blooms, spring and summer bring out the best in its greenery and atmosphere. It’s not a showstopper, but if you’re already exploring La Pigna, the Giardini Regina Elena are a quiet reward at the top — perfect for catching your breath and soaking in the view.

Nice park. It’s small actually. Like 15-20 minutes of walking. A bit more if you’ll stop and admire. Nice with kids and pushchair/stroller. Not too many steps. There is a playground but from 4 years old I’d say. Nice view from the top. There is a small water spot with turtles. Very funny. Also a small water spot with swans. It’s a pity as they’re closed in a small water spot. 😞

A pretty building within the park that has a nice view of the port if you stand on your tippy toes. You cannot view inside anymore, it has been turned into office space. I wouls imagine that back in it's hey day it would have been quite spectacular. We only visited as we were in the gardens and passing through the area. I wouldn't make a special trip to visit. Beautiful medieval old stone town. It’s like a Labyrinth easy to get lost, narrow streets and stairs going up and down. If you want to take photos go during the day. During the night the streets are very illuminated therefore it’s difficult to get good photos.

Forte di Santa Tecla has a rich history, serving as a symbol of Genoese strength, a defense against sea invasions, a barracks, and even a city prison. This 18th-century fortress is now the main museum in the area and stands as one of the few remaining examples of Ligurian military architecture from that time. Located near Pian di Nave, it offers scenic views by the sea and hosts multimedia exhibitions and cultural events.
Suggested place to go visit with family. Lots of expositions keep alternating throughout the year. The renovation process was colossal - for the size of the building - and finally brings to the light this hidden gem. It is not finished yet, so bear that in mind when coming visiting. Incredible piece of history of Sanremo.

This area is fun and busy. Had a fun stay in Sanremo, then we stumbled over towards this fort after dinner, as the sun was going down. This is very much a part of the local history and worth visiting, however, this is not so much a high priority destination. It's seems a little rundown for also having a museum, but overall, a nice visit to appreciate the history and views of the sea from the close beach proximity.

Fantastic food and awesome service. The staff were adorable. Isham was accommodating even though his kitchen was closing, he welcomed us in when we said we were here from Australia and it was our only chance to eat here in San Remo. We had a fabulous meal and wine for a great price. Highly recommend and will definitely be back if I make it to Italy again!!!

Specialty Museums
The Museum of Sanremo, located in the grand Palazzo Nota, is a treasure trove of the town's rich archaeological, historical, and artistic heritage. The first floor houses an impressive collection of ancient artifacts dating back to prehistoric times, providing visitors with a captivating journey through the region's history. On the second floor, an art gallery showcases exquisite paintings and sculptures from the 17th century onwards.
Highly recommend a visit. A splendid gem in the center of Sanremo. Exhibits in Italian, but they have a tablet with descriptions in English. The three floors tell the story of Sanremo through the ages. The painting of “Saint Napoleon” reveals that influence operations are not new. Great exhibit on the cartoonist and writer Antonio Rubino.

Giardini Nobel, also known as Nobel Gardens, is a charming public garden located in Sanremo, Italy. The garden features a central fountain surrounded by lush palm trees and inviting benches. Adjacent to the garden is Villa Nobel, the former residence of renowned Swedish scientist Alfred Nobel. Visitors can enjoy the well-maintained park and take in the beautiful surroundings. Despite some graffiti on old pillars and benches, the park offers a peaceful atmosphere for leisurely strolls and photo opportunities.
I think Italy is all , such a lovely place , especially the coast , just like Sanremo or sometimes better! The park was clean and usefull. The day i visited this place i saw a small grup of pupils or maybe kindergarden , enjoying the sun under the care of their teachers. I took some shots and to be some kind of vulagar or maybe in simbyose with nature i would like to share some!

Sanremo's Free Beach offers a refreshing dip in the cool, blue waters of the Mediterranean. While the lack of sand may be a downside due to the gravel, it still provides a fabulous experience for those looking to soak their feet in the sea.
There are mostly private beaches in Sanremo and this is the only public. The sand and water were really dirty. The water was cool and blue of the Mediterranean sea. The only thing is that there isn't much sand on the beach. Convenient to spend some time bathing and swimming. The location is good but it could be a little more tidy.Very small and poorly maintained. Fantastic place where you can park to relax peacefully . There are no facilities but overall you can full enjoy .
Jitendra P — Google review
Terrible "beach". There are mostly private beaches in Sanremo and this is the only public one we could find. The sand and water were really dirty, and it also closes at 19:00. The first beach I've seen that closes after a certain hour. It's really disappointing, especially if you pay for parking after closure time. The depth of the bay here is a joke - not even 1 meter, so you cannot really swim. Just look for a beach in the next town where you can find fine sand, clean water, free parking, and where no one kicks you out after a certain hour.

One of the best restaurants I’ve visited. Beautiful interior. A welcoming atmosphere and impeccable service. It is plain to see the owner and the staff love what they are doing. I was sitting facing the kitchen doors and it was a pleasure to watch the team work in perfect synchrony. The food was amazing, perfectly fresh seafood and high quality ingredients. We had the most wonderful experience here! While we were having lunch, the team surprised us by baking a beautiful little cake for our son’s first birthday — completely unexpected and so kind. 🎂✨ The cake was delicious, decorated with fresh berries and made with so much care. Food was amazing, the best we had in Sanremo. The staff were incredibly friendly, thoughtful, and made this day truly special for us. Thank you for such a sweet memory — highly recommended! 💛

We walked by this restaurant looking for a nice place for lunch, we were very happy here. The restaurant offered a beautiful outside table set up or a beautiful inside area for seating. We chose to sit inside and the tables were big, with comfortable seats, linen tablecloths and gorgeous hanging orchids. The wine list was absolutely huge with very knowledgeable staff. The menu offered great pastas and many fresh seafood options, it was very hard to choose because it all looked amazing. Our waiter was very helpful in accommodating my many food allergies as well as my daughter’s vegan needs. The menu was available in 4 languages, and the staff spoke to us in English which was a helpful surprise. The bathrooms were absolutely beautiful and spotless despite a very busy dining room. The entire restaurant was beautiful. We loved the food, the best of our weeklong stay in France/Italy. I would definitely go here again and would recommend it to friends.

This family-run restaurant is one of the best in Sanremo. It’s a relaxed atmosphere with very friendly, helpful staff. Nothing is too much trouble. As for the food, it's fish, of course, of exceptional quality, since Alfonso, the father, is a local fisherman. Paolo e Barbara is a cozy restaurant with soft lighting and a charming rural trompe-l'oeil in the background. The restaurant has earned a Michelin star for its commitment to showcasing regional cuisine.

Alexander C — Google review
Absolutely disappointing. We had dinner here and it was a disaster from start to finish. We waited over three and a half hours for the courses to arrive. The service was painfully slow — and this with only four tables occupied in the entire restaurant. The place itself is strange: hard-to-find entrance, almost no windows, and an atmosphere that feels closed in and unwelcoming. Honestly, nobody seems to even know this restaurant exists, despite its Michelin star. And frankly, I have no idea how it received that star. The food was far from impressive — it literally left much to be desired. Prices are outrageously high for what you get. It’s simply not worth it. If you want to waste your time and money, go ahead and book a table here. If not, any Italian restaurant in the area will cook something 100 times tastier and far more enjoyable. Not recommended.

It was great we enjoyed the food and atmosphere. The wines were amazing. It was everything that you would expect of a Michelin star restaurant. I would definitely recommend.
Boaz P — Google review
loved the food, the experience, the service and everything else about this restaurant! Highly recommended.
Khalid A — Google review
With high expectations we were disappointed. We were expecting an exquisite fine dining restaurant using fish and seafood immaculately but ended up flavorless raw or overcooked fish pieces. We were seated on the mezzanine with 2 other tables and got forgotten between courses. However it gave us the freedom to talk openly how underwhelming the dishes were and to grab the salt from the serving table to save the flavorless pasta and main dishes. As one can imagine, we also served our own wine. In one of the pasta dishes, we had an inedible piece of the cuttlefish and pointed out to the very friendly waitress. However there was no feedback from the kitchen or a simple apology from the chef, just ignored. The dessert courses were forgettable. So it was well below the standards we used to experience in other Michelin starred restaurants.
Jf D — Google review
Well deserved Michelin star! My husband and I did the Garden & Sea tasting menu which was beautiful and very well paced and portioned. The quality and the taste of every single dish was superb and the staff were very kind during the whole night.

Teatro Ariston Sanremo is a spacious 1960s theater that hosts concerts, musicals, stage plays, and even has a cinema. It's famous for being the venue of the Italian Song Festival and the Milan-Sanremo cycling race. Over the years, it has become an iconic destination for music enthusiasts and tourists alike. Despite its grandeur on TV, it's actually smaller in person but still worth visiting.

The Ariston Theatre offers a magical experience, especially knowing it's where the Sanremo Music Festival has been held for over 70 years. The theatre itself is amazing, spacious and comfortable. However, the cinema section is disappointing, with a small screen, uncomfortable chairs, and a lack of customer care from the cashiers.

Portosole is a large mooring complex that caters to both private and tourist vessels. The marina offers a friendly and welcoming atmosphere, with local shops for provisions at fair prices and excellent mechanical and electrical support from established family businesses. Visitors can enjoy good restaurants, entertainment, clothing boutiques, children's activities, and nearby beaches within walking distance. Known as the home of mega yachts on this part of the Italian Riviera, Portosole boasts superb facilities and helpful staff.
Friendly and welcoming marina, good local shops for provisions, all at fair local prices, great local mechanical and electrical support from well established family businesses. Children's entertainment and beach within a short walk from the centre of the marina. My recommendation

PortoSole’s port offers good assistance for mooring, but there are a few issues to consider. The boat slips provided are often disproportionate to the size of the vessel, which can be inconvenient. The restrooms are not only far away but also not well-maintained, and the harbor master's office is similarly distant. While the port isn’t too far from the city, the lack of sidewalks and the need to cross a roundabout on foot make getting there somewhat difficult. The port area itself feels neglected, with many construction sites affecting the overall atmosphere. There are plenty of shops, but unfortunately, the overall quality isn’t the best.

I’ve been spending time around the port for the past few years, and I have to say it’s been steadily declining. There are no longer any activities taking place, prices keep rising without limit, and starting next year parking will no longer be included with the ownership of a boat berth. It’s really sad — such a pity, because it’s a beautiful place. I hope I’ll be able to change this review in a couple of years, if progress is made.

The Concattedrale di San Siro is a restored co-cathedral that houses ornate religious art. It dates back to the 12th century and is located near La Pigna and the Sanctuary in Sanremo. The cathedral underwent restoration after wartime destruction. Visitors can explore this beautiful site before heading down to the seafront, which features palm tree-lined promenades and beaches on one side, and Liberty-style residences on the other.

I have to say that as Italian cathedrals go, this one was rather disappointing as the interior, though well kept and lovely paintings, was rather plain in comparison to those visited in Venice. It's size and desogn also meant that it appeared more like a large church rather than it's cathedral status. Some of the other churches in Sanremo were of equal merit if not more so.

Pista Ciclabile della Riviera Ligure is a 25-kilometer cycling track that runs from Ospedaletti to San Lorenzo al Mare, following the old railway route. It offers a safe and scenic journey along the Ligurian coast, with stunning views of the sea. The path is suitable for cyclists of all ages and levels, as well as pedestrians and runners.
Riding this path was one of the best cycling experiences I’ve had in Italy. It’s a smooth, dual-lane bike route stretching for over 24 km along the Ligurian coast, from San Lorenzo al Mare to Ospedaletti, with breathtaking views, charming seaside villages, and plenty of places to stop and enjoy the scenery. The real standout is how well this route balances performance and beauty. It’s wide enough to go fast or do intervals safely, with plenty of space to pass slower riders or pedestrians. Even in the middle of a hot Italian summer, the ride stays cool thanks to a series of long, shaded tunnels that cut through the coastal cliffs. The most memorable tunnel, Capo Nero, is nearly 1.7 km long and features illuminated panels celebrating the history of Italian cycling, including the legendary Milan-Sanremo race. Riding through it feels like gliding through a museum dedicated to the sport. What makes this route even more special is its history. It was once a coastal railway line, active for over a century, before being transformed into a cycle path. The smooth gradients and long straight sections are a legacy of the old train line, ideal for steady efforts or long, uninterrupted rides. In 2015, it even hosted a stage of the Giro d’Italia, which only adds to the thrill of riding here. From quaint fishing towns to Sanremo’s iconic waterfront and the peaceful finish in Ospedaletti, every stretch has something unique to offer. Whether you’re training, exploring, or just out for a relaxing cruise, this path delivers. Highly recommend for anyone cycling through Liguria, it’s scenic, fast, safe, and rich in cycling culture.

When visiting the charming coastal town of Sanremo, Avis Autonoleggio offers a convenient car rental service that allows travelers to explore the area at their own pace. With competitive rates starting around 30 per day, renting a vehicle is an affordable option for those looking to discover the beautiful surroundings. Many visitors have shared positive experiences with Avis, noting that despite initial concerns based on reviews, their rentals were smooth and hassle-free. The staff is friendly and accommodating, often speaking English to assist international guests.
Our rental ended up being brand new, and the prices here were cheaper than anywhere else we could find so we took public transport from Nice to get here and rent from here. Overall experience was good though, worth the 'risk' we took based on past reviews, I'd rent from here again.

I organised a private car transfer for €150 from my hotel in Nice to the agency rather than paying the €1000 one way fee from France to Italy. I was concerned about renting from this place based on all the reviews, but overall the experience was pretty smooth. I arrived around opening time, the lady was friendly and spoke English. She grabbed my details and payment, and gave me the keys to the car. The car had minor bits of damage, most of the damage was on the sheet, but some of it was not. The lady got a bit impatient with me wanting all the scrapes and scratches noted, telling me most of the items I noted weren't damage (lets hope the return goes smooth). The car was not freshly cleaned, it was still a bit dirty on the inside and out, but overall, acceptable after we did our standard disinfectant wipe down. Overall it was an average Avis experience, dropping one start due to cleanliness and the attitude to the existing damage.

Then no refund by them nor Booking of the rental already paid since this condition was hidden in terms of agreement but mentioned ! Festival
The Festival della Canzone Cristiana Sanremo is an annual pop music competition that takes place at the Ariston Theatre in late February. It features 22 finalists, including high-level artists, who compete with unreleased songs. The festival provides a platform for Christian music to reach those who may be distant from God and aims to bring a new dimension to the world of music. This event offers a beautiful musical experience and an opportunity for Christian music to resonate with a wider audience.

(Translated by Google) I am one of the 22 finalists of the Sanremo Christian Song Festival 2023 and I will participate with my unreleased song SONO SOLO UN UMO. I am happy with this opportunity, because finally Christian Music has the opportunity to hit like an arrow those who for one reason or another are far from God. It makes no sense to continue singing our songs almost exclusively to those who have God he already has in his heart. Instead, the opposite is our task and our mission: to bring the message of God's love on the streets, on the radio...on television, from Sanremo to Sanremo to warm hard hearts that only need a musical caress: to melt , come back to live... and fall in love with God. Thanks to Fabrizio Venturi for this opportunity.

The Oratory of San Costanzo, originally constructed in the 16th century with a westward orientation, was unfortunately destroyed by an earthquake in 1887. Outstanding villa built on the site of an earlier building dating from 1880 and known as Villa Feraldi, it was purchased in the late 19th century by the Austrian lawyer, bibliophile, and botanist Leopold Angerer, a native of Innsbruck with considerable wealth, who intended to use the building as a winter residence. At Angerer's express request, the building was completely renovated starting in 1902. The building, distinguished by typical Jugendstil ornamentation, is softened by rich Art Nouveau decorations, omnipresent in every detail: from the unusual terracotta chimneys with dragons and flowers on the roof, to the carved marble, stucco, glass, and wrought iron, while the entrance pillars are intricately adorned with elegant turquoise vases. Finely crafted are the bay windows, decorated in the lower part with mosaics, ornate tiles, and zoomorphic wrought iron, while the intertwined initials "LA" of Leopold Angerer are imprinted in the central mosaic of one of these balconies. Among the most artistically accomplished outdoor objects is the large ceramic flower vase, a standard product, set atop a carved marble base, crafted according to the most authentic forms of the Arts and Crafts movement. The three-story turret located in the southwest corner of the garden was built with bricks from the various countries Angerer visited. Angerer continued to live in the villa continuously until 1937, when, after learning of plans by the builder Ferrero to build a five-story building next to the Casino, between his house and the sea, the Austrian lawyer, who had no intention of giving up the sea view, decided to immediately put the building up for sale for one million lire. Angerer, who had settled in a house in the San Martino district after being left alone in 1940 following the death of Maria Angerer, who now rests in the Cemetery of La Foce, returned to Austria and has not been heard from since. In 1991, the villa was purchased by the Municipality of Sanremo to provide the casino with offices in a particularly prestigious location, a gambling library, and a museum for the Italian Song Festival. Since then, unfortunately this historic building has been virtually abandoned, while increasingly massive water infiltrations are gradually undermining the very stability of the villa, whose undisputed artistic value should lead to the launch of a project to restore and renovate the building.

(Translated by Google) This Villa in itself would also deserve 5 Stars, but unfortunately in this case too a splendid work of art that is practically abandoned to itself, few visits (Only to the Gardens) and not enough funds to renovate the interiors and allow them to be visited.( for this reason I reluctantly only give it 3 stars) Yet we are talking about a Jewel of Liberty, of which few know: just a glance from the outside is enough to understand what a masterpiece this villa, built in the mid-1800s, preserves a series of extraordinary works of art. How can we not mention the Botanical garden and the cave, which boasts a series of plants from all over the world, as the owner, an expert in Botany, wanted. It's a shame that the garden can only be visited a few times and the interior cannot be visited due to lack of funds. Yet we are talking about a real jewel. I recommend at least a view from the outside.... (Translated by Google) The remains of this Roman villa (a rustic and probably residential villa, presumed to have been in use until the 3rd century AD) are very beautiful and interesting, but in my opinion, they are under-appreciated. I was very saddened to see a small, rusty gate marking, I believe, the possible, but previously overlooked, entrance for visitors. I was also saddened by the fact that the ruins can only be seen from the road (which is a two-way street). Last but not least, the signs are difficult to read (they appear sunburned). I think greater institutional interest in promoting this magnificent cultural heritage would be welcome! Gorgeous statue and tribute to Gouseppe Garibaldi. The sculptor Bistolfi wanted to represent the Hero of the Two Worlds, at an advanced age, standing, looking towards his Caprera, leaning and wrapped around the granite base, in a pensive attitude, his hair blown by the wind and the poncho enveloping his figure with noble and majestic tones. At his feet are six bronze bas-reliefs depicting six illustrative moments from Garibaldi's life: the island of Caprera, symbolized by a young girl in the waves (Elegy of Solitude); a wave that transforms into two figures embracing (Song of Love); a group of young girls depicted dancing (Voice of Joy); a male figure with a woman surrounded by seas and mountains (Cry of Freedom); men running enthusiastically launched across the sea (The Hymn of a Thousand); the triumph of a deceased warrior (The Hero).
