Canal de la Robine, a branch of the Canal du Midi, offers a charming setting for leisurely strolls and boat rides in Narbonne. The canal is lined with markets offering vintage dresses, clay bowls, and olive wood spoons. It's a serene and bohemian area perfect for enjoying the flowery town of Narbonne.

Owners of the Electric boats are delightful. Our issue is the state of the Canal. Sorry Monsieur Mayor you need to seriously get on and get it cleared its a complete disgrace. We paid to look at other people's rubbish.Impact on wildlife is à complete disaster . The electric boat owners clear what they can and said they are saddened by the rubbish. We visited Saturday 16 August. See attached photos.

Narbonne Cathedral, a Gothic masterpiece built between 1272 and 1340, stands as a testament to the city's rich history. Although left unfinished, its impressive transept and soaring 40-meter choir, adorned with exquisite tapestries, are awe-inspiring. The cathedral boasts remarkable stained glass windows and ancient gravestones within its walls.
Narbonne Cathedral (Cathédrale Saint-Just-et-Saint-Pasteur) is, without a doubt, one of the most breathtaking cathedrals in the world. If you are visiting the south of France, this masterpiece of Gothic architecture is an absolute must-see! From the moment you lay eyes on its towering, unfinished walls, you can feel the weight of history and artistry that went into its construction. The cathedral was built in the 13th century and remains an incredible example of French Gothic design. Despite never being completed, its sheer scale and intricate details make it one of the most fascinating and beautiful religious sites in Europe. Stepping inside, the first thing that strikes you is the soaring height of the nave. The ribbed vaults and grand arches create a sense of awe that is hard to describe. The stained-glass windows are simply stunning, casting vibrant colors across the stone walls and filling the space with an ethereal glow. Each window tells a story, and if you take the time to admire them, you’ll discover scenes from biblical history brought to life

Though relatively modest in size, the Narbonne Cathedral (Cathédrale Saint-Just et Saint-Pasteur) leaves a lasting impression through its rich ornamentation and artistic treasures. Among its standout features are the exquisite gobelins—tapestries that add warmth and grandeur to the Gothic interior. The space, while not vast, feels intimate and regal, thanks to the abundance of decorative details and ecclesiastical jewels. It’s a hidden gem where scale is secondary to splendor.
Felipe B — Google review
Fantastic 13th and 14th century cathedral which is Narbonne's most prestigious monument and a major building in the Gothic style of southern France. Its construction was ordered in 1268 by Pope Clement IV, former Archbishop of Narbonne and advisor to Saint-Louis. It was dedicated to the young Spanish martyrs Justus and Pasteur. Its choir, the 5th highest in France, reaches over 41 m under the keystone, and the Gothic altarpiece (14th century) of the axial chapel is a masterpiece of European Gothic sculpture. The cathedral forms a unique ensemble with the Archbishops' Palace-Museum. It connects with the current city center, an essential place in Narbonne life where you can admire the 12th century Palais-Vieux building, the Madeleine keep built in the 13th century and connected by an arch spanning the Passage de l'Ancre to the Saint-Martial tower from the early 14th century. At the top of the south tower is the "Bourdon," a large bell weighing 5 tons. It was the only bell to escape melting during the revolutionary days of 1793. Around 4 p.m., the Saint-Just bourdon chimes its deep notes above the rooftops in memory of the plague epidemic that devastated the city in 1652. Despite various attempts, the nave of this cathedral was never completed; it was to extend for a hundred meters more. The cloister galleries are interesting as well to discover. On the upper floor of the Chapel of the Annunciation, in a brick-vaulted room, called "Chapter Room" features a square-shaped room covered by a brick dome that creates a curious acoustic phenomenon of sound propagation from one corner of the room to the other. Indeed, if you whisper in a corner facing the wall, you can be heard perfectly on the opposite side! The Treasury brings together pieces from the Carolingian period to the modern era: a 9th-century carved ivory Gospel plaque, an 11th-century Hispano-Moresque pyxis, the illuminated pontifical of Archbishop Pierre de la Jugie, the Flemish tapestry of the Creation circa 1500, as well as other exceptional liturgical objects that testify to the great wealth of the archbishops of Narbonne ! Finally, save your legs and your breath to climb the 162 steps of the magnificent spiral staircase. At 42 meters high, you will enjoy an exceptional view of the city of Narbonne, from the coast to the Pyrenees. The keep, one of the best preserved in the south of France, is a powerful square tower, at the corner of the Palais Neuf, built from 1295 to 1306 by Archbishop Gilles Aycelin, also an advisor to King Philip IV Le Bel. It consists of four rooms : the hemispherical room called Treasury room, the king's chamber and the defense room ...

Beautiful cathedral with lots to look at, and information in many languages available near the front of the church. We got tickets to the Treasury and we're not disappointed. On Saturday morning the organist was warming up and it was incredible, not sure if that is every Saturday morning, but to hear that organ was incredible.

Les Halles de Narbonne is a lively food market located in the heart of Narbonne, France. The market offers a sensory experience with its abundance of fresh produce, regional delicacies, and artisan goods. Visitors can explore stalls featuring local cheeses, meats, seafood, and more, reflecting the Mediterranean influence on the region's gastronomy.
The market is a delightful hub of local flavors, brimming with fresh, vibrant fruits and an array of artisanal cheeses. The vendors are exceptionally warm and welcoming, making the experience even more enjoyable. One of the best aspects is the opportunity to sample products before making a purchase, allowing you to discover unique tastes. However, adding a dedicated corner with tables and chairs would enhance the atmosphere, providing a comfortable space for tourists to savor their lunch and fully immerse themselves in the local culture.

Super great market full of locals. We came to Narbonne for the grand buffets and and spend some time here on the Sunday. The market has plenty of bars and is pleasantly not to crowded. The breakfast options are endless. Some locals have wine and cold meat platters and others cheese platters or croissants. Many come here to buy there bread and vegetables and then have food in one of the many bars. Absolutely recommended to have a wine with locals and practise a bit of french whilst test the local snacks and wines.

Interesting Baltard Style market halls were built at the beginning of the last century near the Robine Canal with its superb metal structure, its pillars and its stone doors ... Nevertheless, there is nothing extraordinary inside and the prices are prohibitive for the quantity served and quality provided ! The only interest : its noisy atmosphere

The Palais-Musée des Archevêques, also known as the Palais Vieux, is a remarkable building that dates back to the 1200s. With Gothic additions and a tower that offers stunning views of the town, it is a true architectural gem. The complex boasts an array of museums and activities to explore. While the old palais may occasionally be closed, visitors can still enjoy the incredible donjon tower.
A nice museum with lots of stairs. Be prepared to walk up and down a lot. You can buy a combined ticket to visit the defensive tower, the castle (it’s the museum) and a treasury in the cathedral. This museum has lots of porcelains which is untypical for such museums in my experience. Also there are lots of emblems with explanations of its meaning and origins which made me very happy as I’m a big fan of it. Next to the castle there are often temporary exhibitions.
Kirill M — Google review
The ticket for the museum includes the art gallery, the watchtower and the treasury in the cathedral. I feel this is a must for visitors. The watchtower gives impressive views and is accessible via a long spiral staircase. The art gallery has a variety of different styles art and ceramics. There is a section dedicated French art based North Africa themes. The Cathedral treasury also has some interesting pieces. On our visit there was a free exhibit accessed from the open courtyard of Marti Moreno's sculptures which we really enjoyed. There is also a beautiful sculpture of a woman with tattoos.
David N — Google review
Very interesting visit in this former Archbishops' Palace, which along with the Gothic cloister and the Cathedral of Saint-Just and Saint-Pasteur, forms a unique monumental ensemble, both residence and fortress, like the Papal Palace in Avignon. Two towers flank the Palais Neuf and the neo-Gothic façade, designed by Viollet-le-Duc to house the Town Hall in 1845 : on one side, the imposing Gilles Aycelin Keep (late 13th century), and on the other, the smaller Saint Martial Tower (1347). The Passage de l'Ancre, whose name evokes the coastal rights collected by the archbishops, separates the Palais Neuf from the original Romanesque palace known as the Palais Vieux, currently closed for renovation, and connects to the cloister and the cathedral. This museum located in the Palais Neuf, designed between the 14th and 19th centuries, allows you discover the archbishops' former apartments and the very rich art collections. The exhibition features paintings from European schools from the 16th to the 19th centuries, a remarkable collection of 17th and 18th-century earthenware, furniture, and a large section of Orientalist paintings. The spaces and their decor are themselves sumptuous and well worth a visit: the painted ceilings of the great Audience Hall (1634), the King's Chamber (1632), and the Great Gallery (1851), as well as the Archbishops' Dining Room (18th century) and its plasterwork decorations dedicated to nature and hunting.

Beautiful place, filled with history, which offers a great vantage point of the city of Narbonne. Friendly staff, cheap entry… We didn’t stay very long so we didn’t see all it had to offers but there is plenty to see (sculptures, paintings, old faience, architecture). Well worth the visit!
Yann C — Google review
Beautiful palace that once served as the residence of the archbishops of Narbonne. The palace is now a well-organized and very informative museum that showcases the history of the region. The building itself is stunning, with beautiful gardens and amazing architectural details. The admission fee is reasonable. This is definitely worth a visit if you are interested in history and architecture.
Roberto P — Google review
An excellent set of rooms to wander through. One housed louis 13 th at one point. There's an interesting story about that told in the room. Lots of art to see. I was particularly impressed by the exhibition on orientalism in French art. Some good views of the cathedral from the tower as well. Well worth all the stairs.
Jamie H — Google review
Certainly a "Must See" attraction in Narbonne. Tickets are 6 Euro and allow you to visit a number of room in the palace. A climb to the tower top is worth the 149 steps up the spiral staircase and the views out over Narbonne are great. My favourite was the actual Archbishop's residence which is now an art gallery. The rooms displaying the are are almost better than the art itself. ALso be sure to see the gargoyles guarding the garden.

Le Petit Comptoir is a gastronomic activist that has been serving quality market-based cuisine since 1976. Located in Narbonne, this bistro offers traditional southern French cuisine and an efficient and attentive service. The restaurant also features a bar with a wide selection of wines. With vintage elements, it has maintained a loyal clientele over the years despite successive changes.
We weren’t too sure what to expect of the restaurant because of the old classic decoration and the restaurant was rather empty. We found the restaurant through Michelin guide and was worth the trip from gruissan to narbonne to eat there. The dishes turned out to be amazing, well served, very well prepared and worth every penny. Presentation of the all dishes was very pretty, we were four guests who ordered a 3 course menu.

An awesome restaurant in Narbonne, for an affordable price. Had a great dinner on a Saturday night there. Great atmosphere. Excellent restaurant/brasserie - we were so impressed, we went twice to try different dishes. Photos show carpaccio of wild prawn with Moscow Mule dressing, braised sweetbreads with truffle potatoes and veal jus, duckling with roasted grenaille potatoes. Dinner menu at €37 is a great bargain for food of such quality and invention. The wine list is very extensive, largely regional. There is also a good and constantly changing selection of wines by the glass. Service is friendly and very professional. A real pleasure.

Pont des Marchands in Narbonne is a picturesque bridge over the town's canal, lined with charming houses on its outer side and a bustling shopping street on its inner side. It holds historical significance as it was crossed by the Via Domitia, and has been frequented by famous historical figures. Although temporarily closed for construction, visitors can still enjoy nearby shops such as bookstores and clothing stores.
(Translated by Google) After the closing hours of the stores it is very quiet even though there are passersby on the street, you can feel the pre-Christmas atmosphere. There are areas with fewer shops and others that are more striking due to the decoration of their shop windows. (Translated by Google) A bridge... that we cross without realizing it! It's quite funny: while strolling in the center of Narbonne, you take rue du Pont des Marchands without realizing that you are crossing a bridge! And yet, this bridge is one of the oldest in France, dating from Roman times. It spans the Robine canal and is unique in its kind, because it is still inhabited. Formerly made up of six or seven arches, only one is still visible today, the others having been integrated into the buildings which line the street. This makes the bridge look like an ordinary shopping street, but with a fascinating history. It is a place steeped in history, witness to the evolution of Narbonne over the centuries. A must-visit for lovers of heritage and architecture.

One of the few inhabited bridges in France, the Pont des Marchands in Narbonne blends Roman roots with medieval charm. Once part of the ancient Via Domitia, it now hosts a row of small shops and apartments perched above the Canal de la Robine. Though only a single arch remains, its atmosphere is unforgettable—intimate, historic, and full of character. A quiet highlight for those who enjoy cities where history lives on in everyday life.

Nature & Wildlife Areas
Explore the wonders of African wildlife at Réserve Africaine de Sigean, a 300-hectare safari park where over 3,800 animals roam in semi-liberty. The park aims to preserve endangered species and educate visitors about the perils these animals face in their natural habitats. From lions, zebras, and giraffes to white rhinos and cheetahs, you can observe a diverse range of wildlife from the comfort of your car or on foot.
About a 20 min wait to get in on a Saturday morning in February. The park was fantastic, our kids 1 & 3 loved it, especially the Vivarium which had reptiles and fish in it. The drive-through safari took about 30mins, and we alright (you're generally quite far away from the animals), but I imagine it would be very slow during peak season times. The rest of the park is quite large, we walked around for about 5 hours, but had a great time. Unlike many similar venues, the animals generally had a lot of space and seemed happy. All except the wallabies, which looked miserable. Most of the snack bars at Ind the park were closed as it is off season. The main cafeteria was open, but the food was very poor and expensive, and they served us the worst hot chocolate you've ever seen (see pic). Take a picnic, there are lots of places you can stop to eat and enjoy the view. The toilet facilities were fine, and catered for young children too.

We had a fantastic time at the Réserve Africaine de Sigean! The whole experience was very well organized and thoughtfully designed, giving us the feeling of being on a real African safari. Driving through the park in our own car was a big highlight – not only did it bring us up close to the animals in a unique and exciting way, but it was also a huge advantage with the 35°C heat. Being able to enjoy the experience comfortably from the car made a big difference, especially with kids. The staff were friendly, helpful, and clearly passionate about the animals and their well-being. You can tell the reserve is run with care and professionalism. We truly enjoyed every part of the visit – from the drive-through safari to the walking areas. A perfect mix of adventure, education, and comfort. Highly recommended for families and nature lovers!

A very nice safari parc with a great variety of African wildlife. At some point I almost felt like being on a safari drive. The zoo part is quite small compared to other zoos but has some pretty cool features. I really liked the aviary concept with free roaming birds, sharing their space with alligators. Amazing.
Julien H — Google review
We loved it here, we saw so many animals. They have everything from big five to birds and reptiles.
Cristina H — Google review
It was a really great experience, drive through the different parts of the Réserve Africaine and see a little of animals that you normally only can see in a normal zoo. After the tour with the car, you also have a different way where you can walk and see many animals. The food at the kiosk is pretty good. At the entrance we had to wait a bit, because they need to check the trunk before you enter and then you can buy the tickets easily at the entrance. To be honest I didn’t see a line where you could enter if you bought your tickets beforehand. Definitely a good thing you can do is to download the corresponding app. There you can easily check where you are and you get all the needed information from the app as well.
Hannah P — Google review
That’s a huge park with very respectful and friendly way of treating animals. There is enough space for them as I can see. It doesn’t feel like a zoo. It’s more a window to a wildlife sanctuary. Even in winter you can find a restaurant to have some food. Meanwhile the infrastructure is really nice and well planned. There are parking, rest rooms, shops - everything that you may need after a long trip to this place. For sure this experience is worth it.
Kirill M — Google review
A different experience of African wildlife. Make sure to buy tickets online for a flawless entry. First a tour through different park themes with your car, followed by a walking tour. Rich variety of animals in an enormous park, divided in different themes. Great to enjoy with family and children. A must when you’re in the neighborhood.

Abbaye de Fontfroide is a historic former Cistercian monastery located in the Corbieres countryside near Narbonne. With over 1000 years of history, it attracts around 10,000 visitors annually. The abbey was initially built by monks in a secluded valley and was later restored to its former glory in the early 20th century. Today, it offers various events throughout the summer such as plant festivals, medieval days, music festivals, and exhibitions.
Super Abbaye to while away a couple of hours. Steeped in history from the 12th century, amazing to think we're walking where the very first monks we're walking !! Praying !! The cloisters are fabulous, currently covered with Wisteria, so smell and look amazing. There is an English leaflet usually , apparently, although they'd run out of them at our visit. Beautiful gardens with walking routes from easy to longer/harder. Absolutely a must to look round. €14 an adult. Lots of parking - specific MH/Camper area . Toilets etc restaurant in the courtyard, as is a wine shop. Gift shop in the entry of the Abbey. Friendly Englush speaking guy at reception. Well worth a visit. Stunning Abbey Chapel.

An amazing must see in the Cathar Route. Also recommended the wine store, we purchased several bottles. Pity the restaurant, it was fully booked and we could only have some cheese and focaccia in the terrace, where a mentally derailed person was mad at my daughter (3 y.o.) because she was hungry. Interesting to see how mental illness affects the life of people, sadly. Beautiful monuments in the way and around, pay attention when driving!

Beautiful way to spend a few hours. It was not busy when we went and it took us 2 hours to stroll through. Parking was ample and though dogs are not allowed in, I found it nice that they had a few kennels you could store your dog in while you visited. There is a restaurant at the entrance and we grabbed a drink to go, they let us bring it inside. As you walk in toward the abbey, there are planters filled with all kinds of herbs. That area smelled so amazing. You show your ticket to the person at the abbey entrance and they scan it. We did not buy ours in advance but you can. There are guided tours but we just wanted to go at our own pace. It's a beautiful building and the gardens are serene. We got lots of great pics. Definitely a good choice for a sidetrip.

Château de Gruissan offers a must-do climb for breathtaking 360-degree views of the town, including the salt pans, lakes, stilt houses, port and marinas, hills, and the Mediterranean Sea. Sensible footwear is essential due to rocky and uneven steps. The tower itself is in ruins but provides an insight into the area's history through information boards in French and English.
You can visit this castle ruin for free. In wet weather the stones become very slippery. The view over the Etang and Gruissan to the sea is fantastic. It is also quieter here outside of the season.

Good view to see the nearby area from the top but make sure you have good shoes to walk up the steps plus stoned path...some parts a quite narrow just need to be caution as can be slippery if its wet weather!

A must do climb for amazing 360° view of Gruissan. You can see the salt pans, lakes, stilt houses, port and marinas and hills surrounding as well as the city and Mediterranean Sea. Sensible footwear is important and not really suitable for people with mobility issues as lots of rocky uneven steps. The tower is in ruins and you can see some other areas, but its mostly rocky outcrop. Information boards of the history in French and English. Their is some shaded area to sit and rest and a lower walk around the base.

The tower is a "Must-see" in Gruissan, just for the great views out over the town. The climb up to the tower is slippery, so it would be bad to go on a damp day. Hold on to the railing! there is also a nice trail that goes all the way around the base of the rock.

First of all, the location is in Les Halles, the Google map location is inaccurate. That said, we absolutely enjoyed everything about this restaurant. We have been moving among resorts in cote d’azure and the luberon valley for a week and half. While the the restaurants there have been of high quality, this is the restaurant that felt the most exciting and just full of life! We ordered my favorite razor clams, octopus, cuttle fish,Gambia, etc. Each dish was excellent. We tried La clape white, rosé, and red wines, all fantastic and work well with the tapas. The owner and waitress is very friendly. We didn’t know much about Narbonne and were simply taking a break from driving from provence to Barcelona and had a hunch that we would enjoy this restaurant. How lucky we were! Hopefully, we will return some time soon!

The Roman Granary Museum in Narbonne offers guided tours of its subterranean warehouse system, which was originally built by the ancient Romans. This important Roman city has seen multiple re-uses over the centuries, with examples such as the Roman grain storage chambers being repurposed as medieval cellars. Visitors can also explore a small excavated section of the Via Domitia, one of the main Roman roads in France, located next to the main cathedral.
There is a chance to see a 2000 years old underground tunnels built by Romans. It’s a very interesting idea to combine the history of the region, archeology and some interactive quest you can take part in. Please, note that the museum has a break at midday and starts working at 14.00. Check its opening hours.

Fantastic and unexpected site. Many of the signs were in French and English which was great because data doesn't work so well underground in stone hallways. It was incredible to walk in the footsteps of first century Romans who would be storing goods here. We went to Narbonne Via after to see all the relics that had been sent to that museum.
Sara R — Google review
Interesting place to visit if you like Roman history. A minute or two from the cathedral, the museum is mostly underground in passageways that used to be the Granary. There is a display next to the gift shop showing the original layout. In the garden outside there are plaques and statues. The 5 euro entrance fee was reasonable

An almost unique survival, a vast underground warehouse complex built by the Romans. I found it fascinating. It was also blessedly cool, so you can see why it was used for wine storage. It was a very reasonable 4 euros (though one of my countrymen found that a little too much) Well worth a visit in a town full of history and good food.

August 2025: La Via Domitia is a historic Roman road that holds significant importance in the history of Narbonne and the wider region of southern France. Built in 118 BC, it was the first Roman road in Gaul and served as a vital link between Italy and Hispania (modern-day Spain) by traversing the province of Gallia Narbonensis.
Mike773 U — Google review
Lovely landmark located in the historic heart of the city, 2 meters below the modern ground. One can see slabs, uncovered and left open to the sky : it is like a small amphitheater, with steps. You can go down and tread in the footsteps of the Romans. It was built to facilitate trade between Rome and the Roman colonies in Spain. It passes through the south of France, at the Col de Montgenèvre, in the Alpes-de-Haute-Provence, above Briançon. It follows the course of the Durance, and then descends towards the former Languedoc-Roussillon. We will say that it follows roughly the route of the A9 motorway to the Spanish border, at the Col du Pertus. The chariot wheels were spaced roughly the same way, since at the level of the pavements, there are wheel marks and the gauge is roughly equal. These roads were only paved in the stopovers and towns. In the hinterland, it was beaten earth. To facilitate travel, milestones marked the "Via Domitia"... and in the Narbonne region, the most famous is in Sigean ...

Gouffre de l'Oeil-Doux, also known as the Soft-eyed Chasm, is a breathtaking natural wonder located in a unique landscape of scrubland and pine forests. The chasm features an emerald-green lake surrounded by towering white limestone cliffs that reach up to 40 meters high. Visitors can take an easy 20-minute walk from the parking area through low vegetation to reach the top of the cliffs overlooking the still-water sinkhole.
Lovely place for a walk around. Trails are pretty broad but rocky, so stout shoes recommended. you'll be fine in trainers. Definitely take the walk down to the waters edge; it's quite overgrown but with it. Water was teeming with fish when I visited, and you get a lovely echo from the cliff walls. Whole place smelt amazing from all the wild rosemary that grows everywhere. Took me an hour from the car park to walk up and around the crater and back again, so pretty quick.

With the heat and the sun hidden by cli des this makes a good half day excursion. Signage isn’t the greatest, but follow the people and you will surely get to the waterhole. There is even a pony ride place for kids.
Franck H — Google review
We visited this chasm in early of July. Attempt to go there by car had failed because the no name road indicated by Google Map has been closed. To visit the chasm you must park you car in Oeil-Doux parking and follow a trail. It’s a easy trail which makes a loop around and down to the chasm. There were millions of cicadas singing around. They were quite noisy up to 80 DB (measured by NIOSH app). It’s a nice and relaxing place to spend some hours if the noisy cicada don’t bother you.

For nature and walking lovers -- Map and anti mosquito needed - the location and walks around the area are lovely. The signing of the footpaths is non existant and a GIGN walking map for the area is need to get the most out of your walk (French OS maps - available in most newsagents shops) . Alow up to 3 hours for the 9.3km route. up to 50 minutes for a quick visit. Children need to be watched cloasely, there are many small pathas and unsafe areas with large drops! Almost impossible to access for disabled persons, paths are often very uneven. No wheel chair access, no pushchair access either. There are swarms of mosquitos that live around here - a good repellant is essential! Local legend says there is a siphone in the water that drowns people, the truth is that the water is warm on top then suddenly very cold. Thermal shock is a real risk - ergo swimming banned. Can get very busy during weekends and school holidays - weekday visits are best. Parking is free, no toilets available

(Translated by Google) We stopped at this restaurant based on the comments and I can only confirm for my part. Restaurant located in the middle of a campsite but with a very beautiful “panoramic” of course 😊 It is better to have a menu with a few dishes but perfectly executed rather than a menu with 50 dishes but all botched or missing for x reasons. This restaurant is “simple” but does it very well. The taste is very present, you see as soon as you put it in your mouth that it is homemade and prepared. And what could be better than a restaurant where the budget is largely respected and where you leave satisfied. I take my hat off to the manager who we were able to exchange a few words with and who is very pleasant. And to the young waiters as well as the main waitress who are very kind and who do everything to ensure that it goes perfectly, and it did. It's nice these days to see restaurateurs who go out of their way to ensure that you leave satisfied. Happy season to you (Original) Nous nous sommes arrêtés dans ce restaurant aux vues des commentaires et je ne peux que confirmer pour ma part. Je tire mon chapeau a la responsable avec nous avons pu échanger QQ mots et qui est très agréable. (Translated by Google) Tested last night for the first time, I enjoyed the starter. On the other hand, I find it a shame to be by the sea and to be served frozen fish, accompanied by industrial aioli. In addition, I would like to point out that rice pilaf is not rice cooked in water, and that an assortment of vegetables cannot be limited to a few carrots accompanied by onions all bathed in salted water. Very friendly staff and fast service. The Museum of Art and History of Narbonne is located within the Palais des Archeveques, along with the Archaeology Museum. The museum houses a diverse art collection spanning different periods and styles, providing insightful information about the old palace rooms. Visitors can also explore the Donjon Gilles-Aycelin, a late 13th-century watchtower offering panoramic views, and the birthplace of singer/songwriter Charles Trenet.
Definitely worth visiting! Very nice collection, plus you can climb to the top of the tower~
Anisat A — Google review
Very attentive and friendly staff, they love to tell you all about the place’s history and how the museum works. Because the joint Narbonne tickets encompasses a lot of different sights, it could be very confusing to see what is what and where is where, but everyone is ready to help you out. The art collection is lovely, with a wide selection of periods and styles, also good to see that there is incredible information on the function of the old rooms of the palace. What could be said is that the orientalism room is highly problematic and should be closed immediately. Such fetishism towards the middle east based on incorrect facts and seeing them as ‘others’ (read Said) is highly unacceptable in today’s age.
Jeroen D — Google review
Nicely curated art museum, the lighting could be better… The oriental section is especially interesting even though lacking a bit of context.

The collection didn’t interest me enough to pay to visit. However the building itself is great. You can also view the replica of Rome’s gift to Narbonne on the 2100 anniversary of its founding (it is also repeated on an arch at Pl De la Forum)

Small but good collection representing 700+ years. Few well known artists, except perhaps Bruegel. The Oriental exhibition was unique and well worth the visit to see. The architecture resembling the Mezquita in Cordoba, Spain, provided a nice background to the Oriental Exhibition. Note that the museum is on the third floor of the Archevêché. The ticket may be bought at the entrance to the Hotel d'Ville, or upstairs in the museum (same building). This same ticket gives you access to the museum and the Donjon (which is accessed through the gift shop, first floor). Confusing, for sure, but worth it.

Massif de la Clape is a natural reserve in Languedoc-Roussillon, offering diverse landscapes from vineyards to garrigue scrub terrain and forests of oak and pine. The area features flat plains, plateaus, and rocky outcrops with stunning views over the Mediterranean. It's a great spot for hiking and biking with moderate to rugged trails.
A wonderful area, peaceful, arid, and green. Walks can take hours depending on your endurance levels as they interlink. There is a fabulous viewpoint from the watchtower which can be accessed by foot or bike. In winter you rarely meet others so it can be a fabulous place to sit and write, meditate or simply enjoy the tranquility. The terrain can be a little rugged so good hiking shoes help. Parking is available and free in various locations. No water available.
Solange S — Google review
The Massif de la Clape is a mountainous area of about 15,000 Hectares, between Narbonne and the Mediteranean Coast at Narbonne Plage, Gruissan and St Pierre La Mer. There are a few roads across the area but the best way to see it is to park the car and walk. One beautiful area to walk in is above the Chappelle Notre Dame des Auzils. Make sure that you wear stout shoes or walking boots as the terrain can be quite rugged, and also ensure you are carrying enough to drink as it can get hot and the area is very dry in the summer months.

We’ve visited the lovely Château Rouquette-sur-Mer three times during our two week holiday in Narbonne Plage this August. The first visit was great, where we’ve enjoyed a diverse tasting guided by Mme. M. Liotard. She had a lot of knowledge to share about the different wines and grapes, plus was genuinely interested in us. After explaining how we’d learn about this domaine, we had the honor of meeting Mr. Boscary himself. We left inspired, 13 bottles and a typical French “cubi” with rosé wine richer. And we couldn’t resist purchasing their price winning “L’absolu” as a special souvenir. Our second visit was the next day, when we joined the guided walk through the vineyards in the morning, Mme. Liotard being our host again. We were surprised by the domain, the ancient château, the history and the beauty of the many diverse vineyards. Several grounds and grapes were seen in the impressive Massif de la Clape, a rich and green natural zone right behind the beach. The views were unbelievably beautiful. The sight of the grapes and the elaboration on the conditions really gave another dimension to the wines bought the previous day. After the tour of about an hour and a half, we had another wine tasting, now combined with six delicious bites, to show the multitude of tastes and tones of three wines. Another great visit it was, in a small group with a nice vibe in the gorgeous nature. Then for the third visit, we came a week later, as our “cubi” was already empty and we wished to return to the Netherlands with a full one. As soon as we came in, we were recognized and we received a digital group picture taken during the guided tour. The “cubi” was this time filled with their red wine, and we really enjoyed the first glasses this evening. We would like to thank Mme. Liotard for her kind personality, warm welcome and generously shared knowledge, as we’ve learned a lot! We would definitely recommend visiting the château and domaine, as it is a 5 star experience! Merci beaucoup! Ruud & Tessy

- Europcar is charging 87 euros for a file cost regarding a damage on the car (light scratch on copilot door not even visible on normal picture) under a contract with premium óption covering full damages - Such mandatory cost is not visible on the web when Europcar shows the benefits on the premium coverage, so the company in it’s marketing process is showing non true Information on the web - The delivering process of the vehicle has not been clear to the client. The keys where delivered and the agent considered not necessary to review the vehicle with the customer as the premium full damage coverage was taken. So no pictures where taken at the departure of the vehicle and no review was done, the customer believes no charge are possible in case of damage as the full damage coverage is purchased. - When the vehicle is returned the agent makes signing the customer electronically , in a rush , on a mobile terminal when checking the car without showing the document to be signed and without any explanation about the document by the agent - Europcar is carrying out a sales cycle of the premium full damage coverage informing that no cost will be charged , not explained by the agents, and shown as “Zero Euros” cost on the conditions shown on the web when selecting the coverage option. Therefore false information is provides to the customer - The company replies to the complain stating that the signature of the customer on return implies acceptance pf the damage (signature point mentioned before) - Europcar should consider that the damage could have been realized during or not the period of rental due to the non professional process of delivery of the car - The full damage coverage policy marketing and Information process by the agent shares non true information, as in the end the customer is charged for a concept directly related to the damage (called file cost but could be called with any other concept), the consequence is the customer has to pay an amount of money for a damage under a full damage coverage - All in all an awful experience due to a non professional procedure of the company, where some points are completely abusive towards the customer and where false Information is shared by the company in the marketing process. The company should be ashamed. - i dont trust Europcar anymore, the company has lost a customer, probably not important to the company after seeing the reaction in all the claiming process, even through the company claims “satisfaction of the customer is our priority” ,not close to reality in the operation of the company

My experience of using Hertz/Thrifty/Dollar has not always been this good, but this office is superb. Have now used them three times and, given that my wife and I just bought an apartment in Narbonne and do not have a car, will probably be doing so regularly in the future. Château la Négly has a rich history dating back to the 19th century, but it was in 1992 when Jean Paux-Rosset inherited the estate that significant changes were made. The vineyard was replanted with new varieties and partnered with renowned oenologist Claude Gros, resulting in high-quality wines known for their freshness, minerality, and elegance.

(Translated by Google) A tribute to terroir and passion Visiting Château la Négly Those seeking an exceptional wine experience that captures the essence of the southern French terroir should definitely pay a visit to Château la Négly, located in the heart of the Massif de la Clape. This winery, picturesquely situated overlooking the shimmering Mediterranean Sea, is far more than just a place of winemaking—it's a story of tradition, passion, and a remarkable revival. Château la Négly is perched in one of the sunniest regions of France, where 13 distinct winds crisscross the sky, imbuing the vines with a unique complexity. Once an island, the Massif de la Clape offers an incredible variety of soils. From limestone to sand to clay, every grape variety finds its perfect place to develop its full potential. This special combination of climate and soil, known as terroir, is masterfully interpreted at Château la Négly. Since the early 1990s, when Jean Paux-Rosset and his wife took over the family estate, the winery has undergone extensive restructuring into a modern gem that has never forgotten its roots. With dedication and a clear vision, they have created a collection of wines that impress with both their elegance and impressive expressiveness. The wines of Château la Négly are characterized by their deep fruit, fine spice, and remarkable structure. Whether it's a robust red wine, a fresh rosé, or a complex white wine, every sip tells a story of the power of nature and the craftsmanship of the winemakers. A tour of the winery is a must to understand the history and philosophy behind these exceptional wines. At every step, you can sense the attention to detail and deep respect for La Clape's unique heritage. Overall, Château la Négly is an absolute must for any wine lover. It's a place that combines natural beauty and the art of winemaking in a way rarely found. A visit here isn't just a tour, but a journey into the heart of Occitania and into the soul of a wine that proudly represents its origins. I'm already looking forward to mid-September to try the unique Les Astérides in red, rosé, and blanc.

(Translated by Google) I participated in the winegrower's walk from the Château de la Negly to the Cabanes de Fleury d'Aude. I knew their wine, but not the estate. The winegrower's walk consists of discovering the wine-growing part close to the estate in the heart of the Clape massif. The walk is led by a guide who collaborates with La Negly, who is wonderfully fascinating and passionate about his job. I discovered grape varieties, with fresh grapes to support it, winegrowing techniques, awareness of the dangers incurred for the wine, the estates that close, the fires. We were treated to a tasting of a glass of rosé with an empanada in the vineyards. Then back to the château where in a magical place we were able to taste other delicious dishes on generous platters paired with 4 other wines. The setting is sumptuous, with little background music, open air on barrels, professional staff yet friendly and accessible. The owner of the estate welcomed us with simplicity, going around the tables as if we were his friends. Before leaving, we can go to the cellar where we are entitled to a promotion. I fully recommend wine tourism, and even more so this experience at a more than reasonable price in view of everything that was served to us. Magical, rich, interesting and above all very human experience. Bicycle rental service
Languedoc ATV Evasion offers bike rentals and guided tours in Narbonne, France. Customers have praised the high-quality bikes, including CUBE models, and the helpful staff who provide helmets, repair kits, maps, and valuable advice. The company's owner, Hugo, is known for being friendly and professional. Visitors appreciate the ease of reserving bikes in advance through the website and commend Hugo for his prompt confirmation of reservations.
I hired a standard bike from this company twice during my trip to Narbonne. The bikes are very good quality (mainly CUBE) and the people working there are absolutely lovely. Nothing was too much trouble for them. I got a helmet, repair kit, maps, map holder and a lot of good advice. One day I cycled to Gruissan and Narbonne Plage which was fabulous. The next day I headed in the opposite direction, over a cool former railway bridge and up to the canal du midi. I wholeheartedly recommend this bike hire company (and I'm someone who spends a lot of time on a bike so I'm very picky!)

Very knowledgeable and friendly place to hire bikes (normal or electric) to explore the local area. Hugo and his colleague helped with recommendations of routes to take, supplied high quality bikes, locks, tools, puncture repair kits, a map, and panniers. Lovely ride along the canal to Gruissan for lunch and then on to Ile St Lucie. Highly recommended.

I hired a gravel bike for 4 days and received excellent service at a reasonable price. The email communication getting the rental set up was responsive, friendly and thorough. Hugo was ready for me when I arrived and helped with putting my pedals and bike computer mount on. The bike was beautifully maintained and a joy to ride. I definitely recommend and hope I have the chance to return.

Friendly, easy to hire bikes, speaks (at least) French and English. We hired 3x standard and 1x electric bikes, all supplied in good working order. Helmets were provided also. Cycling from Narbonne along the canal is easy and the path is flat. It can however be very hot in summer so take plenty of water.

Good bike hire situated right by the canal in Narbonne. We hired bikes and panniers for four days without a reservation (though it was September so not peak tourist season). The VTC had suitable tyres for the sometimes bumpy canal path!

Visitors praise the friendly staff who provide helpful explanations about the products. Despite some issues with outdated opening hours, the store is highly regarded for its excellent service and top-notch products.
My favorite shop during my trip to Narbonne! Local and regional specialities, the owner is extremely kind personable and very honest (really appreciated his advice on the cassoulet I purchased, as well as jams), these are rare qualities these days! Had a great conversation with him as well, I cannot recommend this store enough.... really appreciated the layout, very organized, i see the thought and care the owner puts into his store

Beautiful deli/gourmet produce shop with very friendly staff. A great place to get some gifts to take home if you're a tourist. Quality local/regional items available - cheese, wines, beers and spirits, charcuterie, cassoulet, foie gras, confectionary, tea, coffee and lots more. The deli produce looked so good, but unfortunately we didn't get to try!

We've been to dozens of similar shops throughout Europe, and La Ferme Narbonnaise is without an equal. The splendid assortment of regional products as well as French and international gourmet goods left us trying to find more room in our luggage. Despite the luxury items, the staff was approachable, friendly, and made our day (they also speak English well). La Ferme Narbonnaise is a MUST visit when in Narbonne.

Water & Amusement Parks
Aquajet is a small but well-maintained water park that offers high-adrenaline water slides, a bounce house, poolside loungers, and a snack bar. It's ideal for families with children aged 11 and 13, offering cool jumps and enjoyable slides. The park has friendly and competent staff who ensure the safety of all visitors. The cleanliness of the water is highly praised, making it a great alternative to beach activities on bad weather days.
We spent the day here with 6 children and 2 adults July 2024. We found the staff very friendly. There were plenty of lifeguards around the pools and slides and we found they were very alert and ready to jump in anytime! I must really complement the cleanliness of the water, there's no comparison to the camping site where we have been staying. Highly recommend spending the day here.
Christa M — Google review
Fun, but small watermark, easily manageable though, five good slides as well as the aquajet jump slides! Unless you land feet first on these, you get a nasty slap onto thighs, belly, butt etc. There are lifeguards but they are not telling you how to go down the slide, for example the jumpslides, we didn't know not to sit and that we must go head first on front, until someone below shouted. See photo of bruise from landing hard on water! in slight kneeling position - 3 days later.
Chloe D — Google review
Had heaps of fun. The jump slides were terrifying but we loved it. The standard waterslides were good fun too but could be longer, steeper. Food was a bit slow to come out. All seems a bit dated but that did not stop us from having fun.
Lionel B — Google review
A bit expensive compared to aquopolis in salou/la pineda. However the attention was great. Good atmosphere and food wasn't pricey it had good food prices compared to other places nearby.
Pablo A — Google review
Nice chill place, great for children and adults. We had a lot of fun. For the lockers you have to give €5 cash or a valuable item as a deposit. The drinks and food are expensive, quantity and quality are okay.
Lola N — Google review
Water parks always good for the family and there were plenty of sunbeds so that I could relax whilst the the rest of the family charged around. My only complaint would be that even though I was not swimming or using the slides, I had to pay the full admission price. Perhaps there should be a spectator rate.
Karen W — Google review
Great for all the family. Reasonably priced for a day out, lots of free loungers and parasols. Variety of slides and pools etc. Only thing that could do with updating are the changing areas and toilets.
Sarah A — Google review
Great family fun. Ideal if the weather on the beech has let you down. Clean bathrooms. Very slow 'fast food' service. Waited 30mins for a hotdog. Spent three hours here surfing between bouncing obsticle courses/castles the water slides, pool and my youngest also enjoyed the soft play area. If we were not pressured for time we would have liked to have stayed longer.

The city proudly honors his legacy by preserving the Maison Charles Trenet, where he was born. This house provides an intriguing glimpse into another era and showcases Trenet's love for Narbonne through numerous photos, certificates, and quotes.
Loved this visit....more a home than a museum. It really shows his love of Narbonne. So many fabulous photos, certificates, quotes....❤️

Magnificent place where one is transported into the universe and the songs of Charles Trenet, such as "Narbonne", "fidèle" etc ... it is the place where the artist was born on May 18, 1913. Much more than that, it is also the place where an exceptional artistic vocation and a unique talent were awakened. This old shack was for Charles Trenet the source of all inspirations. Childhood and memories in this sweet provincial France, near the Sea, rocked by the Tramontane, are still present, here in charming and good Narbonne, his lifelong friend, his city to which he remained faithful.

The wine cellar of the Château de Ventenac en Minervois is a charming place where visitors can enjoy a variety of wines by bottle, case, or wine box. There is also a small selection of artisan soaps, potato crisps, cassoulet etc for purchase from the front foyer. The wine cellar is located in the heart of the castle and offers an interesting perspective into its history.
A must visit if you are cruising down canal du midi. It is a working wine making facility that offers plenty of local delicacies, an interesting walk through the 200+ year old building and the best part was a guided wine tasting across the entire range. The team there are extremely friendly, make some amazing products and you can really tell they care deeply about the region

Really phenomenal wines. Enjoyed everything we tasted and purchased, but the highlight was the 3L box wine, very smooth and delicious and one of my favourite wines I had this trip. Highly recommend all their wines.

This is a gem! Château is located right next to Canal du Midi. We did wine tasting and we had such a warm welcome. We bought a lovely bottle of liqueur with a very interesting label made of brass. Our host (sorry didn’t ask the name) also told us about the cabaret and the fireworks, but we couldn’t make it :(

We moored up here to see the old 1855 oak barge the Marie Theresa which is being restored. The wine tasting is a fantastic experience because of the huge beautiful stone wine cellar. The red is €1.80 a litre if you bring your own container. I recommend a visit.

Fairytale chateau complete with turrets, on the Canal du Midi, with a shop selling not only the full variety of Ventenac wines but a little selection of delicacies, trinkets, wood carvings, fridge magnets, books and tourist memorabilia. In Summer there is an upstairs terrace at night and for the hardier local there is a "petrol pump" dispensing their most competitively priced wines into your own receptacle.

Archaeological museum
Narbo Via museum, located at the eastern entrance of the town, showcases the significance of Narbonne as an ancient commercial hub and features refurbished mosaics and a collection of 760 fragments of funerary steles. The museum provides insights into the city's history as a crucial harbor in Roman times. Despite some initial disappointment with the display, visitors are impressed by the informative graphics and multilingual descriptions accompanying the exhibits.
The museum is an incredible treasure trove, showcasing a rich collection of ancient artifacts from the Roman Empire era, making it a historical haven for children and archaeology enthusiasts alike.
Pham C — Google review
Excellent brand new museum (2020) made from combining two major Roman museum collections originally in Narbonne's old city. They have a collection of beautiful rare frescoes from a villa found nearby, as well as a great set of interactive exhibits on Narbonne's role as the prosperous Roman trade capitol of Gaul--based on artifacts from nearby shipwrecks. Well worth a visit.
Paula E — Google review
Amazing. With the musee de la Romanite in Nimes, this is the best museum I know in France about Roman times.
Frederic L — Google review
As a Canadian I had never seen anything like this. My jaw hung open for a good half hour, until I realized I was gaping. The wall of collected Roman limestone carvings was nothing short of spectacular. And then I realized they were being moved from one side to the other so that you would have a different experience each time you came was incredible. I deeply appreciated the translations in English, and Spanish, it is incredibly thoughtful. I think we read everything there was to read, or I hope we did because the history was remarkable. Considering Canada just celebrated 150 years as a country, seeing things from the first century, and how beautiful they are is a thrill. Very grateful that the various levels of government have invested in preserving this history. This is one of the best museums I have ever been to.
Sara R — Google review
Absolutely fascinating, both for content and presentation. Parking is difficult. How do you plan a new museum without a parking lot? But that’s a quibble. This is a Must See if you are into the history of the region or if you are interested in how far new museum design has come.
Ira F — Google review
An excellent experience, contained in unexpectedly beautiful architecture. If you enjoy Roman stuff, you will find the exhibition interesting, particularly the wonderful interactive section. The permanent exhibition is also well presented and educative, although the wall of blocks, though stunning in presentation, remains a little lacklustre - though it's hard to imagine that it could be more interesting than it was. A huge plus is the size of the exhibition; not so large that it becomes torture, not so small that it is not immersive. Highly recommended.
Alexander J — Google review
Really cool museum displaying Roman artworks in a airy and well designed minimalistic building. There are a ton of artifacts and so much to learn since it's in English too and fully worth a visit if you are interested in Roman history of the region.

Striking building dating from the 1200s with Gothic additions & a tower offering town views.

Enjoy L — Google review
A nice museum with lots of stairs. Be prepared to walk up and down a lot. You can buy a combined ticket to visit the defensive tower, the castle (it’s the museum) and a treasury in the cathedral. This museum has lots of porcelains which is untypical for such museums in my experience. Also there are lots of emblems with explanations of its meaning and origins which made me very happy as I’m a big fan of it. Next to the castle there are often temporary exhibitions.
Kirill M — Google review
Beautiful palace that once served as the residence of the archbishops of Narbonne. The palace is now a well-organized and very informative museum that showcases the history of the region. The building itself is stunning, with beautiful gardens and amazing architectural details. The admission fee is reasonable. This is definitely worth a visit if you are interested in history and architecture.

(Translated by Google) Positive point to start the year: we had a great time with excellent actors. Where it hurts a little is the price of 30th per person... especially since the entrance hall of the Mjc and its stairs where we waited is as welcoming as a station hall, with its neon lights and not a single chair. The stairs could have been decorated with posters at least for the duration of the performance and background music would have brightened things up...at a lower cost. The spectators could have been served in their seats instead of going to the platform to get their drink...maybe details but it could have helped to justify this price...
