In the charming town of Malcesine, Italy, sits the impressive Palazzo dei Capitani. This historic building, constructed in the Venetian Gothic style, boasts a beautiful garden offering breathtaking views of Lake Garda. Originally built in the 11th century and later acquired by a wealthy Italian family, it is now open to the public for free visits. The palace also hosts various events such as art exhibitions and concerts during the summer months.
A nice palace in the heart of the city. Offers great views of the lake and I believe they sometimes do concerts there. Free entry completely and you can walk right in. The palace was built in the eleventh century and was then bought by a wealthy Italian family. It’s now publicly available for entry. There’s free nearby parking also.

Lovely gardens to visit. This is free to go into and has beautiful flowers and a small garden you can walk around. Would highly recommend a visit here when touring Malcesine.

Stunning 13th to 15th century building, very well restored, and the dock at the back has superb views of the lake and mountains. Regular events, free art exhibitions when we visited 20 August, Malcesine is an amazing town, visit if you can.

Lovely square to enjoy the beautiful town while having a coffee!

This is an old Venetian palazzo that now is used as a gallery. The garden is open for everyone without an entrance fee. It is very nice and calm place with great views.

This is a free experience. You can walk through the main room of the palace (there is a painting on the ceiling) leading you to a private garden on the lake. The whole experience will take you about 5 minutes. If you have nothing better to do, go for it. But if you do not go, you won't miss out on anything.

A beautiful house at the center of Malcesine and by the sea, with a small garden that you can visit for free. During the summer it also hosts events like photo exhibitions, painting etc. A recommended visit if you find yourselves in Malcesine.

River
Aril River, also known as the shortest river in Italy, flows through the small village of Cassone before merging into Lake Garda. The 175-meter-long river adds charm to the landscape with its meeting point with a waterfall and three bridges. The picturesque setting of Cassone has inspired renowned painter Gustav Klimt to create some of his famous paintings. Visitors can easily access Aril River from the nearby municipality of Malcesine and witness its unique beauty where it meets the lake.
Tiny river! Lovely restaurant sits on it and next to Cassone Hotel.
Bena R — Google review
The Aril River is a fantastic little gem to be found on the Eastern shores of Lake Garda and its home is within the municipality of Cassone di Malcesine. Cassone di Malcesine is around a 3 mile walk South from the main Town of Malcesine and the route is predominantly along the lake side with endless picturesque views all the way. The Aril River is certified as the World’s shortest river at only 175 meters long. Rising from underground, the water quickly turns into rapids and then flows at pace and volume into Lake Garda. Given its World record status it is a must to see as it is also set in some very pretty surroundings and adjacent to a small and charming port and historic disused windmill.

(Translated by Google) I knew about the existence of this river, but that it was the shortest river in the world was a huge surprise for me. With its 175 meters of length you can see where it originates and at the same time where it flows into Lake Garda. Really very suggestive. Davvero molto suggestivo.

(Translated by Google) The river is incredibly small, although the flow is considerable, so you'll be disappointed. The village of Cassone, on the other hand, is adorable. Small but far more authentic than the neighboring towns, a victim of headache-inducing overtourism. Spiaggia val di sogno, also known as Spiaggia di Cassone, is a charming pebbly beach located about 4 km from Malcesine. The crystal-clear and fresh water makes it an ideal spot for swimming and enjoying the natural beauty of the area. Visitors can even walk to a nearby island when the water level allows it. The beach is lined with two kiosks offering local cuisine and amenities such as sunbeds and umbrellas.

Paina Beach is a serene retreat away from the bustling tourist spots, offering a tranquil atmosphere. In August 2021, beach amenities were reasonably priced and there's a nearby restaurant serving delicious pizza. This fine beach, located close to the city, boasts clear but chilly waters typical of lake beaches. Visitors can enjoy swimming to and jumping from a floating barge. However, it's advisable to bring a thick towel due to the pebbly beach.
Fine beach close to the city. Water is clear, but cold (as expected in the lake). When I was there, there was a floating barge that you can swim to and jump from. Bring a thick towel, there are a lot of small pebbles on the beach. Water gets deep very quickly.

This beach is gorgeous! It has a beautiful view of the castle and lake! There is also a platform for people to swim to and to jump off of. Also the sunsets here are lovey, I recommend :)

We had a great day at this little retreat shielded from all the tourists. It was really quite inside. In August 2021 one beach bed was 8€ and one umbrella 4€ for the whole day. Price is ok also it’s seems high in the beginning. Right next is a restaurant that serves great pizza.
Stefan W — Google review
Photos are misleading. It’s a tiny beach - the view of the castle from the other side is better.
Peter B — Google review
Small and nice beach. There is a lifeguard and the rocks are pretty small. It's shallow on the beginning but getting deep very quickly. Water is clear.

Ristorante Vecchia Malcesine offers an exquisite dining experience with its refined and innovative Italian dishes, elegantly presented in a sophisticated setting that provides stunning views of Lake Garda. This Michelin-star restaurant is renowned for its premier quality and is a must-visit for those seeking an unforgettable fine dining experience. Situated above the lake, the restaurant's suspended view adds to the overall charm of the place.
I recently had the pleasure of dining at a restaurant with a breathtaking view of Lake Garda. The food was locally inspired and perfectly paired with exquisite local wines. Highly recommend this restaurant if you are in the area!
Danko V — Google review
A refined dining experience in the charming village of Malcesine, perched just above Lake Garda with lovely views both over the lake and the picturesque castle framed by a tree-lined path that leads up to the restaurant. The service was truly attentive throughout the evening. The restaurant offers two tasting menus as well as à la carte options with the flexibility to build a two- or three-course meal and add dessert, which is what I opted for. The meal began with amuse-bouches: a tomato in trompe-l’œil style that was actually a fish tartare in jelly, and an artichoke-based bite. Both were visually intriguing and pleasant in taste, although they could have been pushed slightly further to truly awaken the palate. As a starter, I chose homemade tortellini with shrimp and snails, accompanied by pesto. The pasta was excellent — delicate and fresh — and the seafood well-prepared, though the shrimp might have benefitted from a slightly shorter cook for a more tender texture. The pesto had a nice flavor but was a touch oily for my taste. My main was catfish, served with a broccoli preparation, mushrooms, and a sauce. The fish itself was flavorful but just slightly overcooked, with a firmer texture than ideal. Still, the dish was satisfying and well-executed overall. Before dessert, a creative pre-dessert in trompe-l’œil style arrived — I recall mandarin among the flavors, and it was a nice and refreshing transition. For dessert, I selected the “apple” — another visual illusion — composed of various fruit elements. It wasn’t the most memorable in terms of flavor intensity, but it showcased great technical skill and was enjoyable. To finish, the restaurant offered a selection of biscuits accompanied by a sabayon — a warm, comforting and indulgent finale. All in all, this is a high-level restaurant with evident culinary craftsmanship. The price point may feel slightly elevated for the overall value, but the Michelin star is certainly justified. The chef briefly came to the dining room to greet guests, which was appreciated, even if the interaction was brief. One small area for improvement: the restrooms could use higher-end hand towels or cloths instead of simple paper, to better match the overall standard of the venue.
Eric D — Google review
Found this place in the Michelin guide and we had 2 different dinner sets. We had a table by the window with the late setting sun. The food was inventive, each dish had layers of flavors and textures, recommended wines were excellent. We loved it and will come back again. For a 1 Michelin star restaurant, the price for the set dinners were reasonable for the quality and service.
Kelvin C — Google review
Truly outstanding — one of the best Michelin one-stars I’ve had the pleasure of experiencing. We tried both tasting menus, and the dishes across both were consistently creative, surprising, delightful food delivered with great skill, real mastery over texture, flavor, and presentation. The wine pairings were also excellent. It was a pleasure to chat with the chef himself who spent lots of time with all tables. We also greatly enjoyed meeting his handsome large cat Due.
Andrew H — Google review
Booked here as a solo traveller staying in Malcesine for 2 nights. Opted for the 10 course Qcina menu. I wasn't drinking alcohol so the lovely hostess prepared a large glass of a refreshing fruit based drink. Every course was art on a plate and tasted exquisite. There were items I had not tasted before but had every faith in the chef that they would be beautiful. That faith was repaid with wonderful flavours and textures. The bread selection provided with the anchovy butter was again outstanding. The ladies serving made the whole evening an event by explaining all courses and making the experience memorable. They are a credit to the restaurant. The setting, slightly up hill overlooking the lake, perfectly completed what was a memorable evening. Highly recommend a visit to this beautiful restaurant to experience some of the finest food you will find. You will not be disappointed.
Angus M — Google review
Absolutely amazing restaurant - we discovered it back in 2021 and right away knew we had to come back here when we booked a holiday at Lake Garda for 2024. It was a bit more quiet this time (Sunday after a long weekend), but the food and service were just as impeccable. We‘ll definitely come back again when we come to Lake Garda the next time. Definitely recommend!

The Castle of Malcesine is a medieval fortress located in the picturesque town of Malcesine, Italy. It was built by the powerful Scaligero family from Verona and offers panoramic views of Lake Garda from its tall tower, which dominates the town from a rocky outcrop. The castle also houses a history and natural science museum.
Went here during the week, we bought tickets in advance so had no wait time to get entry. The best piece of this place is the views from the castle out to the lake and surrounding areas and offers some really good photo opportunities especially given the low ticket price. You need to go to the top of the tower but the space does get tighter the higher up you go so expect to wait for people to come down and go up etc. Would go here again.
Random U — Google review
It is a piece of history and worth a visit just for the view from the tower. There are special exhibitions in the castles main hall. When I was there, it was chanting mother's = video and sound playing mother's from different ethnicity singing lullabies to their babies, quite beautiful. From the tower, you'll get an awesome view of Malcesine and the surrounding areas, including the Garda Lake.
Stefan N — Google review
Castello Scaligero di Malcesine is absolutely fantastic and what a superb attraction and place to visit for only just €7.00 per adult. This castle despite from the outside giving the perception of being small, is actually quite spacious once inside with plenty of different levels, rooms, towers and garden areas to explore. Given its age, it is well preserved and its history is very well charted and presented as you work your way through the castle. The information is presented in several languages and incredibly well done as it gets all the key information over without drowning you in extensive detail. This is a spectacular building setting out the historic challenges between Milan and the Venetians. The History of Lake Garda and Malcesine is also documented throughout the different displays. As you’d imagine given its location, the views from the castle and especially the top of the main tower are just great. 360 degree views of the Italian Alps, Malcesine and Lake Garda are there to be enjoyed. It would be criminal to come to Malcesine and not visit Castello Scaligero di Malcesine…. This place is an absolute must and you need to allow circa 2 hours to explore.
John G — Google review
Beautiful views from here over the lake! You can explore all the terraces and climb up the tower but there is not really much to see on the inside apart from an art installation when we were there. Worth a visit though!
Jana G — Google review
The castle is definitely worth a visit. From the top, you get a breathtaking view over the lake—absolutely stunning and perfect for photos. A great spot to explore history and enjoy the scenery at the same time.

Nicely renovated structures of the castle, pricing a look into the history with differing ownership over the centuries. The view on from the tower into the rooftops of Malcesine and the coastline is spectacular.

La Pace is an Italian restaurant in Malcesine that serves seafood, pasta, and a house limoncello. It is located on a cobbled square by Lake Garda and has stunning views of the lake. The pizzas are good value and come quickly, while the service is friendly and helpful. The cover charge for food is low at 1.50 euro, making it a popular place to have lunch.
This spot is special. Direct view to the lake Garda. Staff is very friendly and helpful. They correspond in Italien, German and English and maybe some other languages:). We were very happy here. Meals are from fish to noodles over pizza, what ever your heart prefers, they serve fresh and delicious. We had a bottle of local wine and as desert they served us a big bottle of grappa “at house” 😋 thanks so much. We had a delicious and pleasant evening and we will definitely come back soon.
Richard S — Google review
The food is very well presented, however I was disappointed by the taste of the truffle tagliatele with porcini. The truffle flavor is not there and the mushroom sauce does not have a good consistency. Overall the pasta tasted blunt. My family said the fish and lasgna was good thus 4, I would not reccomend the truffle pasta here. The staff is friendly and helpful
Alba M — Google review
The food was good, but pizza had a strange dough that I didn't really like—it didn’t taste like traditional pizza dough to me. The service was okay, but we had to wait 20 minutes to pay, even after asking several times. The restaurant definitely needs more employees. Overall, the atmosphere was great! 💓
Nina B — Google review
Unfortunately, we didn’t have the best experience here. We ordered drinks first and planned to order food afterward — only to be told they weren’t serving pizza that day, even though there’s a full pizza section on the menu. The pasta we chose instead lacked flavor, even the truffle pasta, and to make matters worse, one of the dishes had a hair in it. The plates also came out smudged, which didn’t add to the experience. While the staff did remove that dish from the bill, there was no apology. Overall, the service felt rather unfriendly. Anything positive? The view was nice, the Aperol was good, and they offered free Limoncello. Still, it didn’t make up for the overall bad value for money. Note: there’s a €3 table charge per person, and the bathrooms are located in a different building.
Danina L — Google review
Overall the environment was normal. The pizza was just average, the price is above average but the size and quality of the product does not match the price. The service was also in the middle.
Александр М — Google review
The only thing that was a little bit inconvenient was, that they didn't serve pizza that day. We were a bit disappointed cause we had been looking forward to it and this restaurant has always been the first to visit when we're in Malcesine. Hopefully next time again. Other than that also the pasta is absolutely worth trying. And the view on the lake is just gorgeous.
Nicole B — Google review
Would give more stars if I could. Everything we had was incredible.. the caprese salad, pasta with pistachio pesto and guinciale, and the lamb chops with potatoes. Easily got a reservation on Saturday night last minute but it was packed and every table was full. Great service, great vibes, right on the water and left completely satisfied for such a fair price. Would highly recommend this spot to anyone.

We love this place. The location is just beautiful especially in the evening with the view on the lake. Every time we come we receive a warm welcome and top food. The owners and waiters are super friendly and attentive. When we did not reserve a table once, we got a prosecco to shorten our waiting time. My favorite dish is the tuna steak in pistachio crust or spaghetti scampi. But also all the other dishes are excellent. With our bill we got a delicious bottle of limoncello that we could serve ourselves. We will definitely come back, when we are in Malcesine!

Malcesine, a charming town on the eastern shore of Lake Garda, is nestled at the foot of the impressive Monte Baldo. With its mild climate and picturesque setting, it's a popular destination for visitors seeking relaxation and outdoor activities. The town offers small squares, narrow streets, and various attractions to explore. In addition to its pebbly beach with an adjacent olive grove and sailing club, Malcesine boasts a recently renovated modern hotel surrounded by lush olive trees.
We arrived at 9:30 on a Sunday and queued for less than two minutes!! An awesome experience on the cable car- up and down. The car was less full coming down and we had a little more room to savour the views. A true ‘Alpine’ feeling at the summit with cows and sheep being herded to a water hole. Overall just stunning!! Xx

Choose a day with a good weather forecast, like we did, and it's a brilliant experience. The views are spectacular and you can pay to take an alpaca for a walk. The cable car on the upper section slowly rotates so that you get a 360° view of the lake and the mountains. The restaurant a short walk from the cable car station at the top is better value than the expensive one at the station. We went at the end of September and were slightly under dressed (shorts t-shirt and sandals) even though the sun was shining brightly. We stayed for one hour but would have liked to have walked further and spent more time up on top. Definitely buy tickets in advance. By lunchtime the queue for entry was very long.

The cable car ride from Malcesine to Monte Baldo was amazing. It slowly turns, so you get great views all around. At the top, the view of Lake Garda is stunning – mountains, blue water, and fresh air everywhere! The weather was cooler up there, so bring a jacket. There are nice walking paths, a café, and places to relax. It’s peaceful and perfect for photos. One of the best parts of our trip!

Booked 10:30 tickets online (€25) at 10am as we walked up to the station. Tickets at entrance are €27 We had a 30 minute wait in a long queue before entering the first gondola 🚠 Well worth taking the trip to the top of Monte Baldo for the views high above Lake Garda.
Neil B — Google review
It was worth of waiting in a queue. What a view from mountains to lake and valleys. Get dressed properly it is quite chilly up there. Loved it.
Inga K — Google review
Cableway od ok, view from the top of the mountain is magnificent! But the problem is that no one check people and hours on tickets. There is a couple of signs in front of cableway queue, please stay in queue at least 10 min before departure hour on your ticket. And? We spend almost 1.5h in queue and in front of me it was plenty of people who had tickets for totally different time. I will definitely not going back to cableway. Golden advice is to buy a ticket online (whatever time because nobody cares) and when you will see that queue is not so big, just jump into it.
Tomasz K — Google review
Pick or hope for a clear day for the stunning views at the top. Go early to beat the queue and if you can get near a window, the second car rotates through 360deg so you see all around. Watch the para gliders jump if the wind is right. Don’t miss it if you are staying at Lake Garda.
Chris D — Google review
Beautiful place, views like from a story, recommend to buy tickets online and be there at 8 am to avoid long queue which may take over hour to get you to a cable car.

The venue boasts an attractive old-world architecture and intimate open balcony seating, creating a romantic ambiance for diners. Specializing in Mediterranean seafood dishes, the restaurant offers delectable options such as seafood fritters and pasta ragu.
We had dinner at this restaurant and it was simply perfect! The waiters, Mohammed and Nadir, made the experience truly special – very friendly, professional, and always helpful. Their service really completed the whole evening. The food was excellent – just like in the pictures. The fish was especially flavorful, and both the starter and the dessert were absolutely delicious. The location is quiet and stylish – perfect for a date or an elegant dinner. We’ll definitely be coming back – it’s saved in our list!

The beef fillet was sooooo good! Sliced through it like butter. It was juicy and had a tint of a burn, like it came grilled from a flame. The permezan addition with mushroom sauce & vegetables was amazing too. We got a nice limoncello at the end! 10/10 dinner experience.

Food was very good—tortelloni, in fact, was fantastic. Side dish on the trota salmonata ? Far too salty. Service? Slow, and they even charged me for a drink that never arrived. Sloppy. In a town like Malcesine, full of brilliant options and proper kitchens, you can’t afford mistakes like that. Plenty of places here will give you great food and get the basics right.

We had a lovely meal at Al Gondoliere. The olives served as a starter were excellent – full of flavor. The burrata was good, and the prawn pasta was absolutely outstanding – definitely the highlight of the afternoon. The tiramisu was nice, and the crème brûlée was decent. Overall, a very enjoyable experience!

Came in for a quick lunch. We shared the grilled sea bass and it has remained one of our favourite meals in lake Garda. Highly recommend this beautiful plate of fish!

Al Gondoliere has a lovely, warm atmosphere on its terrace. We came here as a group of 3 and really enjoyed the meals we had, I would really reccomend the roasted octopus on a bed of creamed peas, orata or branzino alla griglia and lastly, my favorite, the seafood spaghetti! Very delicious and good for couples and groups up till 6!

We discovered this restaurant by coincidence on our way back from Limone and decided to stop for some grilled fish. From the moment we arrived, it felt like home—the owner, Mohammad, personally served us. The fish was amazing, and so were the service and atmosphere! Thank you, Mohammad. We’ll definitely come back again.

It is situated next to the Fraglia Vela Malcesine sailing club, making it an ideal spot for watching regattas when it's windy. The water temperature can be cold, and bathing shoes are recommended due to the stones on the beach. Despite limited parking, visitors can enjoy clean and crisp waters along with nearby restaurants offering drinks and pizzas.

Located near the end of the journey, visitors can take a pause at Madonna dell'Accoglienza to capture a memorable photo of the lake. Moving on to the activities for an active vacation, one can enjoy a breathtaking panorama from above Malcesine. Although it may be challenging to locate the path in the evening using Google Maps, there are signs guiding travelers towards this spot. The statue itself possesses peculiar proportions, while the trail leading up is uneven and lacks aesthetic appeal.

Lovely view from above Malcesine, we personally went at night which made it a little bit harder to find the path to it with Google Maps, but there are signs directing you to it. The statue itself has some odd proportions, and the path there is a bit uneven and not so beautiful but it is worth it for the view especially. Its just a fairly short walk! But not sure how easy it is to find parking nearby when it's a bit busier.

Sala Goethe is a museum located in the Scaligers Residence, featuring documents and anecdotes from Goethe's travels around Italy. The museum also houses drawings of the poet, who was captivated by Malcesine and praised its beauty in his work 'Viaggio in Italia.' Additionally, visitors can explore the Museum of Fishing, lake activities, and Galere Veneziane on the ground floor of the residence.
(Translated by Google) Tourism in Goethe's time was something that is hard to imagine today: months and years of travel, one was dependent on the locals' means of transport: Goethe was taken to Malcesine by fishermen (there were no other ways to get here!). Then he was first arrested because he was mistaken for an Austrian spy (the east bank of the lake was Venetian in Goethe's time), only because he made a drawing of the castle (luckily you won't be arrested today , if you take a photo in Malcesine :-). Then you first have to convince the people in town that you're not a spy... so here you can find out a lot of interesting things about Goethe's time at the lake - how good that we're alive today! And by the way: Goethe (see photos) found the lake just as beautiful as we do today!

We went to this place on a Wednesday night around 7:20pm and they were packed. We’re grateful they could accommodate us! We got burrata salad, 2 pizzas, and the seafood pasta! They had tasty olive oil and balsamic vinegar for dipping their bread. The two pizzas were very tasty. The dough was enough to hold the sauces. We still find it strange that in Italy, they don’t cut the pizza into slices… The seafood pasta was delicious, fresh seafood with razor clam, clam, mussels, shrimp, squid. The sauce was good but lacking depth. No complaints and would visit again.

First of all you get greeted by a smiling person that helps you with your bicycles (mind you this is a very narrow street) and get a “bike garage” space. Then you are led to a gorgeous little piazza with tables and chairs right by the water. The food? Unbelievable, authentic and gluten free pizza is 10/10. The service is immaculate as is the wine. Skip the tourist traps elsewhere and come here instead.!

Best pizza I've ever had. They don't cut the slices, but when I attempted to that, the crust was so soft that it cut like butter, effortlessly! When I tastes the pizza it was hot, but so tasty that I couldn't wait! Pasta was equally good, we licked the sauce clean!

The place is mostly in a lovely but narrow street, which ends in the lake. The last tables are literally in the water 😃 They have quite wide selection of italian cuisine, pastas, pizzas, seafood etc. Delicious pasta! The portions are quite big. The waiters are friendly, and polite, they show the items on the bill at the end before payment, to avoid any disagreement. Tips are cash only. The place is quite popular, filled the tables very quickly around 6pm. They gave a bag of pasta as a gift at the end.

This restaurant is tucked away in a little alley, right on the water, so much so that some guests who sat at the tables at the edge got splashed by the boat wakes! Highly recommend the branzino with pistachio. Fish was cooked to perfection - flaky, moist, seasoned just right. The pizzas were very good as well - the right chewy texture with a crispy edge. Wait staff was very friendly!

Parcheggio Statuto is a convenient parking option located just outside the town center near the Scaliger Castle in Malcesine. It's ideal for visitors to the castle or those seeking an affordable parking choice at 1 per hour. The car park is situated at the entrance to the old town, offering easy access for unloading luggage if staying within the pedestrian area.
Perfect parking area if you're taking the ferry to Limone sul Garda. It's just a 3 minute walk to the ferry. Go early as it might get full quickly. Paid €12.50 for approximately 4 hours.

Osteria Santo Cielo is a charming little eatery located in the old part of town, just a short walk from the mooring place for boats from Riva del Garda. It's a favorite spot among locals and visitors alike, offering a selection of snacks like antipasti, bruschette, and cheese platters alongside an extensive wine list. The owner, Hella, originally from the Netherlands, found her way to Italy for love and stayed for the cuisine.

Da Mario & Sons is an excellent restaurant and bar in Malcesine. The staff are friendly and welcoming, and the food is of high quality. Some of our favorite dishes include hamburgers, pizzas, salads, and much more. We highly recommend this place to anyone visiting Malcesine.
Fabulous setting overlooking Malcesine harbour, the food was delicious. I had a Tuna Salad and husband had Antipasto. Followed by Salted Caramel ice-cream... Yummy!!! 😋 Staff were also welcoming, caring and quick service. The only negative observation is that there is only one toilet!! 😲 had to wait... Room for improvement there 😏

Great harbour side bar and restaurant with ice cream sundays to die for. Our service was attentive and funny and made us feel welcome as soon as we arrived. You'll no doubt be in the area if you visit Malcesine, so if you're waiting for your big blue boat home or are staying in this stunning little town, be sure to make some time to enjoy this gem.

After several days exploring Malcesine, we finally called in at Da Mario & Sons restaurant. We had walked past this place so many times and it is always packed so to get a front row lake view for brunch was great. Da Mario has a simple and easy vibe coupled with a great service. The menu has great choice but more importantly, the quality and value is excellent. We thoroughly enjoyed a very healthy late breakfast at Da Mario’s and we enjoyed it so much, that later in the day we came back for afternoon coffee and snacks. All in all, Da Mario & Sons proved to be a great choice and I would not hesitate to recommend so if in Malcesine, give it a go.

We had the best meal of our stay in Malcesine at Da Mario & Sons. It was fantastic, the staff are so friendly and attentive, the atmosphere and surroundings are lovely and the food was amazing. My partner had been looking all week for a Cesar Salad and she says it's the best she's ever had. I had the hamburger and it was huge and really nice. Caramelised onions really topped it off! We would recommend eating here to anyone, it was a wonderful experience. As I mentioned the staff were all fantastic, they were friendly, came to us whenever we needed something but never hurried us on or pestered us. We will be back before we leave.

Marina
Porticciolo di Malcesine is a charming and picturesque small harbor located in the heart of Malcesine. Surrounded by restaurants, bars, and cafes, it offers a perfect spot to relax and admire the stunning views of the lake and old houses. The atmosphere becomes even more enchanting in the evening with street musicians and a lively ambiance. This bustling town also serves as a departure point for boat trips to other towns around Lake Garda.
We travelled by boat from Salo to Malcesine (2 hour trip) in a well equipped boat with open and closed seating, refreshments and toilet facilities. Suggest you buy tickets on land. There are only a few trips going all the way so do check times before hand. The views on the way were extraordinary (the good weather helped!), stopping at various villages on the way. Malcesine is a bustling quirky town with many eateries, shops and places to visit. There is a large sailing ship that is operational as it seems people hired their space to go sailing on this magnificent ship, which you can see in the pictures and video I have attached. A must visit if you are visiting Lake Garda ❤️

This is a very beautiful and picturesque small harbour right in the centre of Malcesine. It is surrounded by restaurants, bars and cafes and is a great place just to sit and watch the lake and the beautiful old houses. There also are a lot of gelateries that you should try. It is especially nice in the evening when it is full of people, there are street musicians and the atmosphere is great. The boats to other towns leave from here.

Malcesine is a pretty town, plenty of bars and shops. We spent a few hours bar hopping whilst it rained. Easy to get a boat to Limone or Garda and further down the tour boats around the lake. Used the Verona Bank ATM by the harbour to avoid charges. Buses serve the town well, but not always in time apart from the Tourist bus which serves hotels around Malcesine.

Public parking space
Parcheggio Paina is a spacious car park located just south of Malcesine, near Paina beach. Although it's a bit further from the town center, it offers reasonable pricing at 1.30 per hour. The parking area is currently undergoing renovation, but visitors have felt safe and undisturbed during their stay. It's considered a strategic and cost-effective option for those looking to park close to the city center.
Although the whole city was super full and all other spots were full we found something here after only 15 minutes waiting. So it’s worth waiting. Saved our day.
Athletics — Google review
It is in a very good location, right on the beach. Close to the center, just a few minutes away.
Kft. D — Google review
Great car park for those with larger cars as it is gravel rather than tarmac with lines. Payment system simple and functional. Adjacent to a nice little beach so works well if you do some sightseeing in the centre then come back to car for beach stuff and a dip in the water.
Nick F — Google review
Convenient car park in Malcesine. Walking distance from the city centre and cableway to Monte Baldo. There is also direct access to the lake (spot for swimming). Can be full in the season, which means that it's better to come earlier or that sometimes one has to wait for a free slot or try luck in other car park. Payment in machines. Prices comparable to other touristic locations (approx. 2 EUR/h)
Piotr M — Google review

Parcheggio Campogrande is a parking facility located centrally, offering a beautiful view of the village from the upper parking level. It is conveniently close to the old town and provides easy access to areas of interest. The parking area includes both open-air and garage spaces, with an accessible public toilet at the entrance building. Although some find the parking spaces small and occasionally blocked by larger vehicles, many appreciate its fair pricing.
Convenient municipal parking 3 minutes' walk from the town, price 1.70 € per hour. There is also a toilet and a modern payment machine with apple pay.
ANASTASIIA — Google review
I’d recommend this multi story car park for exploring Malsecine, there was a bit of a queue to get in, we found plenty of spaces on top floor once in, we were able to park here for around 5-6 hours to explore Malsecene for around €7 (note this car park isn’t suitable for anything larger than a car !, no camper vans)
Mzazi — Google review
Not many other options in Malcesine so the price is ok for an evening visit. A bit tight for bigger cars, especially the entrance and exit. The token system is quite dated, I have only seen it at Bucharest Otopeni arrivals parking and even that was recently replaced.
Arckpi — Google review
Excellent parking 7 minutes from the funicular. Lots of spaces.
Станислав Б — Google review
In october the parking was without problems, although the road to the parking is quite narrow. Accepts cards
Ondřej B — Google review
Parking with a view. Very central but 1.5euro per hr with no cap. Malecsine is a very popular touristy town so it is reasonable I guess. Some covered parking space but they were all taken by the time we got there.
Melody M — Google review
Good parking facility and close to areas of interest. However, the parking spaces are a bit small, and some customers with large cars and limited parking skills can make it quite annoying. It becomes frustrating when you are unable to get back into your own car because your driver's side is blocked by a large SUV. Pricing is fair.
Ines J — Google review
Have coin/ change with you for this parking!! The machine is “broken” and you’ll end up paying to get coins out of a nearby atm at a 2 for 1 rate. 20 dollars will cost you additional 10 dollars to withdraw.

Siora Veronica is a historic sailing ship that was built in 1926 by blacksmiths from Peschiera del Garda. Originally part of a fleet of 100 boats used for transportation, it has survived as one of only two remaining vessels from that era. Today, the Siora Veronica offers panoramic sailing tours ranging from 1 to 3 hours, as well as full-day cruises to the southwest of the lake.
Fantastico! We had booked the sunset tour, but the guide contacted us to say it would be leaving earlier maybe due to the weather. We really enjoyed it, beautiful boat, a couple of glasses of champagne and finger food, amazing scenery and just the right amount of time. Grazie!
Elisa C — Google review
The boat was beautiful and the scenery is gorgeous. But I would not recommend a sunset cruise on the Siora Veronica. Firstly I will say that the instrumental musician on board was obviously very talented. If you love fun house music and saxophone, you will enjoy their combination - but it was not especially relaxing given it was two hours of bopping. This is where the positives end. The boat was crammed. There were no options for vegetarians or vegans and the food was barely explained beyond “fish finger food”. The staff did not know what they were serving. The service was crap and took so long that we were left wondering if we had been forgotten. We weren’t given menus like some other random guests were - not that we’d have been keen on paying for more drinks given an already steep price of entry. We had to pay for still water. The “wine tasting” was actually only one wine, and about 1/4 of a normal glass. There was nothing remotely informative about the boat or the area. We feel like mugs considering how much we paid. We would probably pay €15 or €20 for this to give a positive review.
Joe P — Google review
We booked the Malcesine Panoramic Cruise in advance, we arrived on time but was told the tour was put back by an hour due to a private event, they said a message was sent to us and showed their phone but I had not received the message via email or on the trip advisor app, others turned up with the same surprise so something went wrong there. Once we set sail the experience was much better, there were drinks and snacks and a guide gave you some of the history of the lake and the boat as the tour went on. The sails were put up once the boat was out to water. Stunning boat and you get some really good photo opportunities being on the boat. You can also get some ideas of where on the lake you might want to go to after the boat trip. I would go here again.
Random U — Google review
Very beautiful boat and a lovely circle - albeit small - around the Lake. Music was fun and saxophonist clearly very talented. Unfortunately, pretty poor service with both my partner and I overlooked/forgotten/ignored for food and wine promised on the trip. No vegetarian options at all and had to pay for a glass of water. No information, no conversation, didn’t even sail - just motor. Pretty expensive for what you get - or don’t, in our case!

We hosted our wedding editorial shoot aboard the Siora Veronica – and it was simply magical. The organization was smooth and fast, and everyone involved was incredibly helpful and kind. We enjoyed a beautiful photo session and an unforgettable sailing tour. Thank you so much for this wonderful experience! Highly recommended.
Astrid S — Google review
The yacht is beautiful, and the trip itself was very relaxing. The scenery around Malcesine is stunning, especially from the lake itself. My only complaint is that it was very German orientated. We were the only English couple on board, and the Italian hostess mainly spoke to the Germans (in German, of course), and only gave us scant information in English. I paid the same as the German guests, so I would have expected the same level of courtesy. Having said that, don’t let that stop you - we’d definitely go on another cruise with these when we come back to Malcesine.

Nestled against the stunning backdrop of Monte Baldo, the Santuario Madonna della Corona is a breathtaking church that dates back to 1625. This historic site has long been a cherished pilgrimage destination, with roots tracing back to an ancient monastery believed to have existed over a millennium ago. The sanctuary's unique architecture seamlessly integrates into the cliffside, offering visitors spectacular views and an atmosphere of tranquility. Reaching this remarkable church involves navigating a scenic drive up from Lake Garda, though parking can be limited.
An incredibly powerful spiritual place, sanctified by pilgrims in an extraordinarily breathtaking location. I experienced similar emotions in Montserrat. We happened to attend a Service during a thunderstorm – and felt even more protected. I highly recommend everyone to visit!

Absolutely stunning! A wonderful place to visit. Great photo opportunity, but a mstvellous church. A 20 minute walk down-hill from the parking area, scattered with religious artefacts. Free parking and entry. I would suggest getting the bus back @ €2 pp.
Jo T — Google review
One of the cost free stunning things you can do whilst staying in the region. If arriving by car follow the first signs that you see for ‘free car parking’. Not many people use this car park because it’s not the one the GPS/ Navigation takes you to but trust me, it’s great because it also leads you to the little undiscovered path that provides you with the best views of the valley and the Santuario Madonna. We were there taking in the view for almost 45mins and no other person came (see picture). The church itself is small but impressive in that it has been literally carved into the mountain side and from within the church you can see how the church also shares its foundations with the mountain. Spectacular. It’s a fairly steep walk down and of course back up but wasn’t too onerous for us. There’s also a bus service for the weary but it’s only a small bus with often a big queue to come back up.
Mark W — Google review
A work out to get to/fro, but well worth it. I recommend a bag for a water bottle, layers, a few coins for offerings, patience, endurance and gratitude. It is beautiful, historic, religious and serene place, not to mention astonishing how they carved the church out of the mountainside!
Sporadic T — Google review
Beautiful church and shrine built into the side of the mountain with some very interesting artifacts inside. It's well worth the visit if you are in the area. Lots of stairs so you may need sticks if you're bad on your feet. There are quite a few bars and restaurants nearby to recover.

Hidden in the cliffs of northern Italy 🇮🇹 ⛪ Madonna della Corona - a sanctuary that looks like it’s hanging from the sky! Built into a vertical mountain wall above the Adige Valley, this place feels straight out of a fairytale ✨

📍 Santuario Madonna della Corona – Spiazzi, Italy 🇮🇹 An awe-inspiring sanctuary ⛪ built into the cliffs of Mount Baldo 🏞️, seemingly suspended between heaven and earth. The atmosphere is peaceful and spiritual ✨, making it a special place for reflection whether you arrive on foot 🥾 or by bus 🚌. The views of the valley 🌄 are breathtaking, and the church interior is serene and beautifully kept. A unique and unforgettable pilgrimage site, blending nature, faith, and silence. 🙌
Quing_刘妈妈 — Google review
Madonna della Corona is one of the most unique and spiritual places I have ever visited. The sanctuary itself, built into the side of a mountain, is truly breathtaking. On a clear day, the views of the surrounding valley and cliffs are absolutely stunning. When we visited, the weather was rainy and foggy, which gave the whole place a mystical and almost otherworldly atmosphere. Even without the sunshine, I still enjoyed every moment of being there. In front of the church entrance, visitors have the opportunity to light a candle, which adds a touching and personal moment to the experience. Inside, the church feels very peaceful and sacred, inviting you to slow down and reflect. Whether you come for the faith, the history, or simply to admire the location and architecture, Madonna della Corona is a place that leaves a lasting impression. It is both a spiritual journey and a breathtaking natural experience.

Ciclopista del Garda is a scenic 1km path that runs along the mountains and partly above Lake Garda, offering breathtaking views of the surrounding landscape. While primarily designed for biking, pedestrians are also welcome to enjoy this picturesque route near Limone sul Garda. Visitors can easily access the path from town, with convenient parking available at the northern garage.
One of the best place and experienced i’ve had. I went for a walk here but the path isn’t finished. You have to go back again to be able to get out of the path. The views are stunning and i would love to go back again.

This place is truly charming and unique — a hidden gem that offers the perfect setting for both running and cycling. Surrounded by breathtaking natural beauty, it’s an ideal destination for anyone looking to reconnect with nature. I highly recommend visiting not only for the physical activity it invites, but also for the peace and tranquility it brings. It’s a must-see spot where you can pause, take a deep breath, and find a quiet moment to reflect and recharge your spirit.

Very beautiful walk along the lake. I walked from Limone out to the end and back again. I left limone at roughly 08:30. On the way back it was busy with people, loads of people stopping for photos etc... I would recommend you walk / cycle this early in the morning before it gets too busy.

An amazing experience bike riding along this ciclopista that is expertly built high up along the amazing town of Limone sul Garda, allowing one to take in the incredible beauty of Lake Garda. A serene atmosphere… take it slow and soak it all in. It can be enjoyed by both cyclists and pedestrians alike. I look forward to visiting again when it Is extended (hopefully)

One of the most beautiful in Europe ! It is recommended to do it at the morning or end of morning. Until now, only one part is finish to be build and Italia is continuing to build another part. For the moment, the way is 5km with way back at the maximum. If you are going there during the high season I do not recommend to book bicycle because it will be too complicated to drive.

it is very nice to walk here or ride a bicycle, and overlooking the beautiful view of lake garda.

Its only cca 3km for now but it is really nice ride/walk
Emil D — Google review
If you get down at Limone Centro, this is a ~2.5 km walk. The walk to the trail itself is lined with restaurants initially and then becomes a beautiful narrow rustic old town trail. Even while reaching here you'll have some amazing views. The trail simply offers flat dedicated cycling and walking path with uninterrupted views of the lake and mountains upclose!

A rare magnificent shop in Malcesine where you usually just find some overpriced chineses made souvenirs. I really like the products of this shop because its handmade and authentic. I bought a wonderful stone magnet. I will appreciate this much more on our fridge than some 2 EUR plastic magnet.
E. C — Google review
Stumbled upon this store and picked up a really nice magnet and some postcards. The owner in the store is very friendly and is the artist who designs the images. Magnets and postcards that are well designed and different from what’s available in other stores.

Such beautiful paintings! And a very kind and grateful owner. We are so happy with the keepsake we got from this store.

I have been wanting to make a gallery wall for a few years but couldn’t find the right paintings. On my recent trip to Italy, i came across this small shop and fell in love with some of the watercolor paintings. I bought 6 thinking they would be enough. When i got back (to Dubai)I realized I should have got 10. I got in touch with the owner and she was so professional and kind. She went out of her way and sent me 4 more paintings to make my gallery wall possible. Thank you

Great handmade crafts - perfect souvenirs. I bought some of the unique postcards to bring home for family and friends as little presents. So much more special than all the other souvenir shops. Happy to find such a creative shop in a touristy place like Malcesine.
