Modern European restaurant
Dillinger's is a popular spot known for its locally sourced seafood, meat, fresh pasta, and craft cocktails. It offers an American-influenced menu with brunch favorites like pancakes and steak n eggs, as well as unique dishes such as Shakshouka. The restaurant also hosts Steak Wednesdays where guests can customize their Black Angus beef cuts. After a recent revamp, Dillinger's now serves polished small and large plates filled with finesse and flavor.
The food was delicious and friendly staff. The service was excellent. I highly recommend the place and will be back! Oysters fab! A few more choices would be nice for mains and dessert.

A lovely spot for brunch with delicious food and friendly staff. However, we specifically chose this place for the cocktails and were a bit disappointed. We had understood that the 2-for-1 cocktail offer was available on Sundays, but it turns out it only applies if you’re seated at the counter. Since we were at a table to enjoy a meal, we couldn’t take advantage of the promotion, which was a bit frustrating. Anyway, if you are not going for the cocktails, the food was nice.
Andreína G — Google review
I really liked this place! Good menu, and the food was excellently prepared. We ordered bottle of wine so I will def have to come back for the cocktails. The staff was very friendly (shoutout to Stephen for a great first week!) and the vibes were cool and lively. Prices were fair, I thought.
Stephanie C — Google review
A classic spot in Ranelagh. Great service, chilled atmosphere, beautiful music and a good menu for brunch. Quite a variety of all the right offerings given my personal taste. From oysters, to shakshouka to avocado on toast....
Elisabetta R — Google review
Excellent brunch spot, solid menu well trained staff and relaxing atmosphere. Went recently with the family and was pleasantly surprised. Traditionally known as a hip spot for the kids to brunch was worried we would be out of place but the staff were welcoming and friendly. The burger is the recommendation, while the po’ boy is tasty it lacks impact. Pancakes are dependable, but the real star of the show is the staff. Wont make it a regular thing but will definitely be back !
Conor D — Google review
The food was delicious and served in a nice way. The service was excellent, with attentive and friendly. I highly recommend the place.
Ksenia G — Google review
Excellent dinner here recently. The smaller starter dishes were probably the highlight for us. Oysters were excellent. Tuna tostadas were delicious. Great cocktails as well, and friendly service.
Andrew K — Google review
I came here for an early Sunday brunch with a large group of friends and a few kids. We reserved ahead and our table was ready when we arrived. The place is nice and kid friendly, however the service was bad and the food nothing to brag about. When we arrived we started with ordering coffee and we were surprised by the lack of coffee options (only black coffee is available) and the time needed to get a couple of carafes of coffee! Also the mugs provided are thick and make coffee cold. I had the crab cakes Benedict and there was so much filler that I could not feel the flavor of crab and the poached eggs had semi-hard not runny yolks.

Thai restaurant
Nightmarket is a charming Thai restaurant located in Dublin, offering traditional and authentic Thai cuisine. The menu features classic dishes such as Gaeng Massaman Curry, Phad Thai Goong, and Tom Yum Goong, reflecting the diverse flavors of Thailand. The restaurant provides a family-friendly experience with a flavorful yet mild menu suitable for children. With its narrow dining area adorned in simple colors, Nightmarket captures the essence of a Bangkok noodle stall and quickly fills up with locals and visitors alike.
Had an amazing dinner at Nightmarket last Friday. First time we tried it and not the last! Everything was perfect. Just one thing though, the potatoes in my wife’s curry were not cooked enough so they were a bit hard but aside from that, everything was delicious! Highly recommend the banana rôti with condensed milk and the sticky rice with mango 👌🏻 😋

The best authentic Thai restaurant in Dublin. Staffs are so nice and welcome us with a warmly smile, they also gave us a perfect recommendation for the food. Highly recommended!!
Waraporn D — Google review
The restaurant is lovely. I had a very tasty vegan yellow curry. I enjoyed it very much, the staff is super friendly. I recommend it and will be back again.
Any C — Google review
We had an excellent time at nightmarket. The food is incredible, and can be made as spicy as one likes! Delicious flavors and the side room with tiles adds a cute ambience for a date night. Highly recommend!
Advait S — Google review
This was easily one of the best meals I had in Dublin. Flavourful, spicy, and warm in the belly I would absolutely recommend this place to anyone looking for a delicious meal. Its a bit expensive, but the portions are big enough for two meals. I will always pay money for good food and will absolutely be back to this place again. In a city where this is so much bland and flavourless, this truly is a standout place.
Natalie B — Google review
I wasn’t going to write a review… but then the staff made it so that I had to! I didn’t have a reservation and the restaurant was quite busy, so I came back an hour later. Not ideal, but I really wanted to eat here, and I’m so glad I did. They eventually found me a table, and from there the experience was exquisite. The food was incredible, I had the mussels, the red curry duck, and the cheesecake for dessert. Everything was bursting with flavor. The staff were so attentive, answered all my questions about the menu, and even recommended a perfect red wine pairing. The atmosphere was amazing, warm, lively, and inviting. Just make sure you book in advance ☺️
Gabby R — Google review
This is hands down our favourite restaurant! We have visited many times and it never disappoints. The authentic Thai food is absolutely incredible, the staff are fantastic and there’s always such a great atmosphere.
Katie G — Google review
I have been always looking for a good thai restaurant that would serve good drinks. But it seems that I can always get either or. Nightmarket was unfortunately no exception. Let’s start with the environment. I made a reservation for the tunnel room. When I arrived I was offered a table outside by a pile of boxes. Upon requesting a different table, I was sat in proper tunnel room. That was great. I must say the restaurant ambience is nice, most table are good and it looks great, except for the table I was offered initially. Now the drinks. They have excellent drinks. I was very pleased. I just think they could have been faster. It took a long time to get drinks for a small place. The food presentation was great but I thought the flavor wasn’t there. I had a Tom Kha Gai soup and it was great. The pork skewers are fantastic. Then I had the Miang Kham and it was disappointing. It was a very dry dish. Well presented but very dry and not to my taste. Then we had the pad thai, the mango salad and the papaya salad. The mango salad was great but the fried crab that comes with it was over fried and tasteless. We could not eat it at all. The pad thai was not bad but it was missing something. It wasn’t the best but again, I was disappointed with the flavors. The papaya salad was tasteless and probably the worst I ever had. I love papaya salads and usually I ask it to be made mild so that I enjoy the flavors. Unfortunately, the flavors were not there. It was like it was missing something. Again the same pattern. Since the experience was not that great, we decided to skip desert. In conclusion, I believe they need to speed up the drinks and enhance the food flavors. Everything else was great. This place has the potential to be the best in town. Just not there yet.

Italian restaurant
Host Restaurant, owned by chef Niall McDermott, offers a delightful dining experience with a carefully curated wine menu featuring Mineral Driven Whites and Chilled Reds. The concise yet diverse menu showcases the kitchen's strengths in braising, grilling, and fresh pasta making. Dishes like burrata with pickled beetroot and pumpkin cappellacci are popular choices among patrons.
Without a single doubt in my mind this is one of the best restaurants in the country. Tucked away in Ranelagh, the food, service and atmosphere are all 10/10 . Try the chefs menu, great value for the variety of incredible food you'll get .

Great food, great service, great atmosphere! We got the chefs menu and I’d highly recommend it. Our waiter also gave some excellent recommendations.
Alex C — Google review
Amazing place. Super vibe. Absolutely delicious food. Friendly staff. Highly recommended. We had the chef’s menu and did not disappoint. It’s also loads of food for two people, no need to add anything else! The only thing I didn’t love was the salad, but everything else was a 10 out of 10.
Andreína G — Google review
An unforgettable experience! We enjoyed a multicourse meal filled with small, shareable plates, each one surpassing the last. The flavors were absolutely incredible, truly an outstanding dining experience. The customer service was excellent as well. Our waiter patiently answered all of our questions and made us feel completely at ease.

Fantastic experience from start to finish, warm service, great wine, and fantastic food - best steak I've had in Dublin, and the Ragu and Chorizo Croquetters were big highlights as well. Will definitely be back!
Rob F — Google review
I’ve been to this restaurant twice now, and honestly, the food is to die for! Every dish tastes fresh, flavorful, and made with care. The vibe is just perfect, relaxed but lively at the same time. Everyone working there is super friendly and welcoming, especially Hytallo, who made both visits even better with his kindness and energy. Can’t recommend this place enough and can’t wait to go back again! 🌟

Excellent little joint serving trendy Italian. The burratta was divine. The tagliatelle with beef shank ragu was like my mom and aunt's made. Go!

Gigi is a popular Italian restaurant located in Dublin, known for its handmade pasta and authentic Italian dishes. The restaurant offers a cozy and candlelit ambiance, perfect for enjoying a selection of Italian wines from different regions. Guests rave about the Cannelloni Ricotta Spinaci and other pasta dishes, as well as the antipasti bar. The friendly and professional staff contribute to the pleasant dining experience, making it a must-visit spot in Ranelagh Village.
gigi’s is definitely one of the best italian restaurants in dublin to date! we really enjoyed a lovely dining experience and were attended by such friendly and welcoming servers all night. for our appetizers we ordered the fritto misto, arancini alla carbonara, polenta chips and the burrata. each were great but the arancini and the polenta chips were spectacular! we tried the lobster bisque ravioli special, the tagliatelle al ragu, the tagliatelle rococo and the nduja pasta for our mains. all the dishes were super flavourful and unique, i highly recommend any seafood pasta on the menu! lastly we ordered a delicious tiramisu to end the night on a sweet note. the cozy and intimate atmosphere added to the overall experience, can’t wait to return again!
Ally C — Google review
This is a fantastic, cozy, Italian restaurant one mile from the Grand Canal area in a beautiful residential neighborhood. The food and the service was top notch - friendly and engaging servers that pay attention to all of the details. We ordered the stuffed arancini with a truffle sauce (out of this world good), the bolognese and the gnocchi. I highly recommend a dinner here if you are looking to get out of the city center for a night.
Beth G — Google review
A co-worker recommended this place, and I’m so glad they did. It’s a small, cozy restaurant with a lovely atmosphere that made me feel like I was dining in Italy. The food was outstanding — full of authentic flavor — and the wine was absolutely delicious. The staff were friendly and helpful, offering great recommendations on what to try. I thoroughly enjoyed the experience and would definitely go back. Highly recommend!
Bronacha T — Google review
One of the best restaurant experiences I have had in a long time, service was brilliant, very friendly and made our experience so enjoyable. Food was fantastic and drinks were so good. Best espresso martini I have had in a long time.
Caoimhe B — Google review
We had a fantastic evening at Gigi’s, a gem of an Italian restaurant that delivered on every level. From the moment we walked in, we were warmly welcomed and looked after with genuine care , a big shoutout to Roberto, our waiter, whose service was absolutely top-notch: friendly, attentive, and incredibly knowledgeable about the menu. We started with polenta fries and toast with pesto ,both simple yet delicious. The polenta fries were golden and crispy with a perfect soft center, and the pesto on the toast was vibrant and fresh, a great way to kick things off. For mains, we went with the classic carbonara with guanciale and a special truffle pasta, and both were unbelievably good. The carbonara was rich and silky, with perfectly cooked pasta and that deep flavor only good guanciale can bring. The truffle special was a showstopper ,aromatic, indulgent, and beautifully balanced. Honestly, we’re still thinking about it. Gigi’s strikes that rare balance of relaxed charm with high-end flavors. We’ll definitely be back and next time, we’re saving room for dessert!
Alex — Google review
Outstanding in all things. Got the Burrata, Aranchini and Polenta Fries. Minor feedback: the Aperol Spritz came with a rosemary garnish which didn't add anything. In Venice they added instead a single green olive and that does add nice flavour.
Rob M — Google review
What a wonderful experience. We were just going to have some nice Italian food, and ended up having such a great time thanks to the amazing staff and manager.
Cathrine T — Google review
Beautiful atmosphere and impeccably delicious food, I had the best burrata in the world there! The service is outstanding and you can truly see the passion in everyone who works there.

Restaurant
Cinnamon Ranelagh is a popular Irish restaurant in Dublin, offering separate menus for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. The place is known for its simple yet tasty dishes that attract long queues. For those seeking a hearty brunch, The Butchers Grill and The Exchequer are top choices with their delectable offerings like pulled pork hash and brioche French toast.
I'm satisfied 👍 Spacious and comfy. The food was cooked well. The service was friendly and fast. The price range is excellent 🙂 Would be back again to add more info for this review. Thanks 😇

Great for brunch with little ones over the weekend. The food is average but the vibe is great. The cold pressed juices here are amazing though. The french toast is also good here, so the kids will surely enjoy. This is a cute little pink cafe in the heart of Ranelagh, perfect to stop by after kids classes nearby.
Ruchika K — Google review
Fantastic breakfast/brunch spot in Ranelagh. Great atmosphere, fun vibes and really attentive staff. The French Toast is fluffy and crispy and melts in your mouth. The Chorizo Omelette with egg whites is a perfect combo of spicy chorizo and melts cheddar. The other plates that went by to other tables looked fantastic too. Looking forward to going back for more!
Jay B — Google review
The Cinnamon Experience 🤣 By someone who knows a good sandwich when he sees one. Today, I ventured into the leafy battleground of Ranelagh for what can only be described as a high-stakes social experiment: meeting my friend’s new girlfriend for the first time. To balance the equation, I brought my own girlfriend, thereby forming a double-date unit with all the delicate dynamics of a diplomatic summit. Naturally, the stakes were high. First impressions. Social finesse. And, crucially, food. The restaurant was half full — the sweet spot. Enough atmosphere to prevent awkward silences, but not so rammed that you’re chewing with someone’s coat button in your ear. We snagged a lovely round table, the sort where conversation flows more easily and you're not sat like rigid statues on opposite sides of a plank. And then the staff arrived. In waves. Like an overzealous coast guard. “Are you ready to order?” “How about now?” “Still not ready?” It’s like they’d placed bets in the kitchen on who could break us first. We were mid-chat, trying to gauge the new girlfriend’s vibe, when one of them asked for the fourth time if we were ready to order. I nearly ordered just to make them go away. Now, normally I make a beeline for burgers like a heat-seeking missile. But today I was feeling adventurous, so I ordered a club sandwich the size of a shoebox. It arrived oozing sauce with the energy of a collapsing trifle. A glorious mess. Delicious, but not without its consequences. I spent half the meal drowning in club sauce, wiping my beard like I was putting out a kitchen fire. The craic was flying, and so were napkins. My Italian mate, meanwhile, was enduring a quiet tragedy. He ordered a beef burger and chips. They gave him chicken. Chicken! He looked like he’d been personally betrayed by the chef. There he was, nibbling forlornly at some chips like a Victorian orphan while I was tearing through my sandwich like a man possessed. He tried to play it cool in front of his new flame, but I saw the pain behind his eyes. The man was suffering. To console myself (and deepen his agony), I ordered two fried eggs on the side. Because if you're going to have lunch, you may as well go full gladiator. The women went for something more delicate — chicken and stuffing, coronation chicken — you know, the polite sandwiches of people trying to appear respectable. Eventually, the Italian’s correct burger landed. He tucked in, trying to act like he wasn’t ravenous. He even left a few chips on the plate, performing the age-old ritual of pretending to be full for the sake of romantic optics. But I know him. That man doesn’t leave chips. It was a performance. I, meanwhile, rode gloriously into dessert territory with a slice of carrot cake that was moist, dense, and smugly satisfying. The others watched on as I ate it like a man who knows dessert is the rightful end to any respectable meal. Now, the staff. Friendly, yes. But once the orders were taken, they vanished into the ether like a magician's assistant. Not so much inattentive as completely absent. Had we caught fire, I doubt anyone would have noticed until the smoke reached the kitchen. But despite the chaos and a few Oscar-worthy mix-ups, it was a brilliant afternoon. The food hit the spot, the company was tops, and the craic was mighty — the kind of mighty that turns a casual lunch into a story you'll be telling for years. Just maybe bring a translator for your Italian friend — or possibly a therapist — while he’s mistakenly handed a chicken burger, watches your eggs arrive like royalty, and picks at his chips like a man performing grief through garnish. He wasn’t fooling anyone. Least of all himself.

Had a fantastic time at this place! The waitstaff were incredibly kind and attentive. We couldn't resist trying all their €8 cocktails, and they did not disappoint. My personal favorite was the strawberry one, which had a delightful icy texture. But honestly, all of them were great! We decided to share some fries with my friend, and they were absolutely delicious. The garlic sauce was a hit; just wish they'd put more of it next time. Overall, this place is a winner. It has a catchy name, a great atmosphere, and the food and drinks are top-notch. Just be aware that there's only one toilet for men, and I had to wait for about 10 minutes. But that minor inconvenience is totally worth it for the overall experience. Highly recommended! 🍹🍟😊
Tugay C — Google review
Had a spot of brunch today, it’s nice looking inside and quite spacious. The staff seems to be rushing us from when we sat until we left so not very relaxing. The food was very quick which makes me always suspicious about the cooking, I had the cinnamon bap, it came with a side of rocket I don’t know why. The eggs royal lacked real flavour also then the scone was a bit hard to chew so not overly impressed with the food. The price was quite good for the location.
Craig D — Google review
I WISH I could give Cinnamon 5 stars as their food was incredible and very well priced. Unfortunately, as I was leaving, I discovered that a large wad of gum had been left on my seat, and my pants were completely stained because of it. If something that big is missed where customers can see, I shudder to think what cleanliness is being missed behind the closed doors of the kitchen.
Jako G — Google review
I have been here multiple times and also got great food. Their Warm Goat's Cheese Salad and Wild Mushroom are very tasy and a must try dishes. Hot Wings, Linguine, and Buttermilk Chicken Burger are also good. They do great Apple & Berry Crumble. They also do Raspberry Custurd Tart sometimes, and it is also good. Highly recommend this place. The only dish that was really poor was Vegan Pasta.

The Exchequer Ranelagh, an acclaimed gastropub established in 2009, offers a modern take on comfort food in a sleek and contemporary setting. The decor features light woods, bright colors, and artistic touches, creating a unique ambiance. Known for its small but carefully curated menu crafted by renowned chef Lee Doyle, the restaurant serves Irish meat and sustainable seafood.
Absolutely wonderful experience from start to finish. Went there for my dad's birthday and what a birthday treat! We ordered the crackling pork roast dinner for 6 people and it was amazing. The chef came out to show us the pig in all it's glory, then cut up the beautiful pieces for us to eat. It was so juicy! The crackling was impeccable and you get so much food we had a bunch leftover that we got packaged up. The staff were extremely friendly and attentive I would recommend this place to everyone and anyone.

Really enjoyed my evening here. It was beautifully decorated (for Christmas). We got a few bits to share. The tapas was nice, although I would say small portions for the price, especially the prawns but that’s Dublin for you! The service was fantastic and the atmosphere was great. I’ll be back!

Beef cheeks on the menu was a stand out ! Great lil place for a date night. Good selection of wine. Service is fantastic.

Visited on a Wednesday evening and we selected from a midweek value menu. We picked 4 seafood tapas plus patatas and mushrooms. The food arrived promptly and was really good. Loved the scallop especially. Service was impeccable. A great winelist too. There's a lot of competition in Ranelagh among different restaurants and it's good to see the standards here have stayed high. Recommended.

I had a good experience there, we went without reservations and we could have a table there on Friday night for an hour and a half. Staff are polite, great wine selection and tapas were tasty! We got artichokes and mushrooms pintxos and grilled halloumi cheese , the portions size are good. It worth a visit!

David the head bar guy and Ben were absolutely brilliant. David gave myself and my friend Vicky a lovely wine tasting experience and we chose the best Bottle that suited us. He was from start to finish absolutely excellent at his job and friendly and professional. Was great to have the banter and also eat in one of my fave D6 Wine bars. Went to have brunch for a birthday. You know what is great? When the vegetarian options are sad and scarce. You know what is even better? When you order an eggs Benedict without the ham (you can't get it replaced with salmon btw) to find little bits of ham under the egg... Ruined the meal and the experience. I'm not sure if they thought I wouldn't notice because I had prosecco. It's also so nice when prosecco gets onto my belongings because people don't know how to pour. Décor is cool though.

Italian restaurant
Tucked away from the main road, Antica Venezia offers an authentic Italian experience with beautiful bowls of homemade pasta, delicious pizzas, and other classic Italian dishes. The restaurant's welcoming, dimly lit interior exudes a friendly vibe and is adorned with classic Italian 70s decor. The seafood here is particularly recommended. The attentive staff and enchanting atmosphere make it feel like a little slice of Venice in Dublin.
One of the best Italian restaurant in Dublin. Top class service, amazing people, lovely atmosphere. Food so tasty... Definitely come back again

It was our first time in Dublin, and I must say the place was nice, though a bit small and surprisingly noisy. The pasta and pizza we ordered were both delicious, and the staff were generally polite. However, there was a bit of a confusion with our drink order since the waiter didn’t quite understand that we wanted still water/tap water and no other drinks. We had to explain it three times in a row, which was frustrating, since the order was simple and easy to follow.
Andrei A — Google review
I usually only leave reviews when an experience is exceptionally good or deeply disappointing—unfortunately, this was the latter. We had a reservation for 6 p.m., and by 6:04, the waiter informed us we’d need to leave by 8. This time limit wasn’t mentioned when I booked. Two of our friends were running slightly late, and we were rushed from the start—pressured to order quickly and constantly nudged along. About half an hour into the meal, a woman who seemed to be one of the managers approached us. While she started out friendly, her tone quickly shifted. She reprimanded me for two people not showing up, saying they had to turn away others because of it. She also criticised our table because one person ordered only a starter and a drink, and another just drinks—something that felt unnecessarily awkward and frankly quite rude. We also asked several times for more sparkling water and still water, but it never arrived. To top things off, we had to pay using two separate card machines—one for the main bill, and another for a 10% service charge, which wasn’t clearly explained and didn’t seem optional. All in all, the experience felt rushed, judgmental, and uncomfortable. Definitely not somewhere I’ll be returning.

Our dishes were works of art, and equally delicious. The pappardelle was scrumptious and tended to arrabbiata. Wonderful! The staff was extraordinarily friendly, the atmosphere relaxed, Very nice interior. Can’t wait to go back and try some more.

We celebrated our anniversary here last night. The staff were so welcoming and friendly. Great service and incredible food. Minestrone soup was the best I have ever eaten.
Claire H — Google review
We had a delicious meal and great service but we were seriously disappointed by how we were treated at the end of our meal. We had 4 adults and 1 child attend for the 7.30 sitting. We advised that we would have a child with us when we made the booking. Our 5 year old was very well behaved for the meal and about 10 minutes before we left she got a bit upset and one of the adults with our party took her outside to wait for the taxi. Before they stepped outside, as we were paying the bill, the lady who I assume was the manager, asked us if everything had gone OK with our meal. We said yes and that we had really enjoyed it and she commented that the child with us must be tired, which we agreed with as we were packing up to take her outside, and then she said “we normally have children at the earlier sitting, try to remember that next time”, before immediately walking off and not giving us the chance to respond. If we had been told when we made the reservation that the restaurant required us to attend the earlier booking, that would have been fine, but they were aware that we were bringing a child and nothing was mentioned. To have such a snide comment made as we were packing up to leave and after our child had been so good for 95% of the evening (and as I say, as soon as she started crying she was brought out of the restaurant) really soured our experience. Needless to say, we won’t be back!

TapHouse Bar & Kitchen in Dublin 6 offers a cozy and relaxed atmosphere with soft lighting, book-lined walls, and wooden decor. The ground floor features two staffed bars with a variety of rotating taps showcasing the craft culture. The bar also serves fresh fruit cocktails made in-house, including their homemade Limoncello. On the rooftop, guests can enjoy stunning views of Ranelagh village while sipping on an extensive selection of craft beers and cocktails.
Had lunch here on the terrace on a very sunny day. They have a lunch special which is 3 dishes for €30. We got his which was loaded chicken tenders, fish tacos and steak sandwich. The chicken was absolutely delicious and the other dishes were lovely also. Had a bottle of Bulmers so can't comment on the Guinness. Service was impeccable. One of the best beer gardens in Ranelagh.

The Taphouse hosted my 30th birthday and I couldn't have asked for a better night. The food and service met every expectation and then some. The staff made planning my party seamless and stress free from start to finish. The staff were so friendly and accommodating and a pleasure to deal with. I cannot commend the staff enough for making my night unforgettable.
Tara F — Google review
I recently had a disappointing experience at The Taphouse. The staff informed us that we needed to leave our table, even though we hadn’t finished our meals or drinks. When we asked if it was possible to move to another area of the pub, we were told there was no space available. However, as we were leaving, another staff member mentioned that there actually was space upstairs, which made the situation feel quite disorganized. We felt rushed to finish our food, and I ended up having to finish my drink standing up, which was uncomfortable and unexpected. It was unfortunate, as the atmosphere and menu had potential, but the service felt unprofessional and not very considerate. I hope this was just an isolated situation, but based on this experience, I wouldn’t feel comfortable recommending it.

Nicks Coffee, nestled in Ranelagh, Dublin 6, is a beloved spot known for its positive vibes and top-notch coffee. Despite being one of the most affordable options in town, the quality is exceptional. The smooth and flavorful espresso makes it a popular choice for locals and visitors alike.
Very Good Coffee! Tried the latte, espresso & cappuccino here and all were great. Coffee flavor is one of the best in Dublin based on the cafes I tried by far.

Good coffee and nice staff. They have some indoor seating, but the space feels a bit enclosed and could use a makeover, it kind of looks like you're sitting in a storage area. With some better lighting and decor, it could feel much more inviting.
Violeta M — Google review
Cute coffee spot! It’s takeaway only, but there’s a wide variety of drinks and some nice sweets available. I ordered an oat cappuccino, but unfortunately, I was given a regular milk one by mistake. They replaced it right away, but I got sick afterward, and they didn’t offer any compensation or discount. Being friendly is great, but it’s also important to stay attentive — many people have allergies or intolerances, so accuracy really matters.
Tania R — Google review
Great coffee spot! For me, the biggest advantage is that they open as early as 7 AM, perfect for a morning coffee run. The coffee quality is outstanding, honestly the best I’ve had so far. The staff are always friendly, kind, and attentive, which makes every visit even better. I was also pleasantly surprised by the prices, they’re very reasonable for such great quality. It’s a takeaway-only café, but definitely worth a stop if you’re in the area!

This coffee shop is undeniably charming and cute, but there's a glaring issue: there's nowhere to sit! I enjoyed a delightful cookie and brownie, which were incredibly delicious. However, it's evident that they need to prioritize creating seating space instead of renting out their second room to furniture sellers.

Dartmouth Square is a charming park located in Ranelagh, surrounded by Victorian red-brick houses. After being embroiled in ownership disputes, it is now open to the public and hosts open exercise classes on Saturday mornings. Visitors can enjoy open-air yoga sessions during the spring and summer months, followed by refreshing cold-pressed juices or vegan treats at Urban Health nearby.
Lovely residential square. Lots of beautiful well kept two over basement red bricked houses. The really nice thing to see is that most are homes. Way out of my price range, needless to say, but well, we can dream!

Place is good and generally positive. I take my toddler here for a walk and never faced any issue. Only mind about dogs being taken for a walk here. Aesthetically pleasing coffee shop with a wide variety of healthy options, I was amazed at the at the initiative of the menu, the staff were not friendly or helpful, having a menu as theirs I expected an enthusiastic approach to enlightening their customers especially first timers or walk ins. Also they have nice lunch sandwiches 🥪 and wraps priced reasonably which are delicious 😋

Never ever seen grano napoletano or even friarielli in a shop so I am impressed with the variety of products (although some products are non-italian which can be a bit confusing). Prices are a little high which is to be expected of course, but staff are veryyyy indifferent and slightly rude, the opposite of an Italian salumeria 🤣. It would be a lot better if the staff actually knew about the products, especially for those who are not familiar. Also most of the fresh produce is not of Italian origin so I wouldn't bother purchasing.

Trinity College Dublin, a 19-hectare university with stunning Georgian buildings, is renowned for its humanities, science, and medical programs. The campus is home to the national treasure of Ireland, the Book of Kells, which can be fully appreciated with an audio guide. Visitors can also explore the library gallery, famous for being a filming location in Harry Potter movies, and view the oldest harp in Ireland.
Beautiful place to visit! Trinity College is full of history and stunning architecture. It's worth taking the guided tour, it's well worth it. Students currently studying there talk about the university, it's very entertaining and educational. Lara was a really professional guide, 5 stars for her. 😜😘 In addition to the basics, you can also learn about university life.

Beautiful buildings and the park is well maintained. We had no chance to buy tickets for the Book of Kells Experience on site (it is recommended to buy in advance if anyone is interested in seeing the Library's famous Long Room!), but the buildings were still worth walking around. The gift shop is pretty much like anywhere else, but we saw at least two coffee trucks, so there's something to sip on while you walk. (I can't even imagine what it must be like to see so many tourists wandering around here with the students' eyes — while you're rushing to class, they're just shuffling in front of you to try to make the perfect photo. :D)

Trinity College Dublin is one of Ireland’s most iconic landmarks and a must-visit for anyone exploring the city. Founded in 1592, it combines centuries of academic prestige with stunning architecture and a lively student atmosphere. Cobblestone courtyards, elegant Georgian buildings, and leafy quads make it a photographer’s dream.

It's one of the world's leading universities. The campus is so vast and beautiful. It's impossible not to dream of studying here. I think the only downside is that anyone can easily get in. Other than that, I loved the library. It has an incredibly charming atmosphere.
Kenya İ — Google review
With its wealth of beautiful Georgian buildings, ample park spaces, and venerable old library, Trinity College is simply gorgeous. We were fortunate to see the campus bathed in sunlight on the Sunday in September that we stopped in for the Book of Kells Experience. Since the wait time before we could go into the library and see the Book of Kells was fairly long, we had the opportunity to walk into the college chapel and hear the choir rehearsing for the morning Eucharist, and then to sit on benches in the sun and enjoy the beauty all around us. Trinity is a must-see place if you're touring Dublin.

The National Museum of Ireland-Decorative Arts & History, located in the historic Collins Barracks near Phoenix Park, Dublin, offers a fascinating experience for families. It showcases Irish haute couture and silver collections while delving into Irish military history. The museum is part of the trio of National Museums in Dublin, along with the Archaeology and Natural History museums. Visitors can explore prehistoric skeletons and Victorian cabinets at the Natural History Museum or handle taxidermy specimens at the Discovery Zone.
The museum really surprised me – it's so much bigger than it looks from the outside. The exhibits are really diverse, from military history to fashion, furniture, and even 1916 Rising artifacts. Everything is beautifully displayed and easy to follow. I especially enjoyed the sections on Irish independence and the evolution of design in Ireland. The building itself is historic and adds so much to the experience – walking through old army barracks turned museum feels unique. The staff were helpfull .

Amazing museum, tons of history and historical artifacts. The place is ginormous, but it's set up extremely well. About half of the barracks are dedicated to the museum - not quite sure what's in the rest. We spent about two hours wandering around and soaking up the exhibits. Definitely worth a detour - it's free entry, and there's something for everyone to enjoy.

One of if not the best museums I’ve ever been to. Can here as a present for my birthday and it was the best present I’ve revived. I spent hours learning not just about the revolutionary history of Ireland but history of the Emerald Isle. From rocks dating back to the arrival of Saint Patrick to captured samurai swords in the Second Word War from the Empire of Japan, the more I explored this museum the more I fell in love with it. The size of the museum also took me away with hall after hall dedicated to thousands of stories. Stories that don’t just tell the story of Ireland but of its people. I would recommend spending as much time as you can here as some of the displays will take your breath away. My personal favourites was Micheal Collins coat and the full set of Samurai armour. I would recommend any history lover to come and see the amazing displays
Christy E — Google review
A large museum with free entry, split into two main sections — one focused on art history and the other on military history. Personally, I preferred the military section, although I expected to see more about internal conflicts and similar topics. Another hall which is quite nice is the one regarding the coins / banknotes history of the country. That said, I was pleasantly surprised by the impressive exhibition hall filled with tanks and weaponry.

My family of 5 came on a Sunday. They’re only open 1-5 on Sunday. We spend about 2 hours walking through all the exhibits. They go through all the ages of Ireland and ends with a military history of the country. They have 2 planes, tanks and many guns on display showcasing Ireland’s history in the wars and their own conflicts. This being free, it was a wonderful time and worth spending a few hours learning about.

In winter, guests can still enjoy the panoramic views while staying cozy with blankets and heaters. The menu features delectable pizzas with unique toppings and a must-try Italian shakshuka for brunch.
We ordered the rib eye and it was perfectly cooked medium rare. 100% satisfied! Food was great, ambience was great. My only gripe is that we weren't given seats closer to the great view. Just because they were busy and seats for 3 are limited and they prioritize large groups... but we noticed many tables empty near the end. Even in their peak time. We dined in half past 6. Idk why but we were put on the very edge of the indoor area. So I'm rating it 4 in atmosphere. Service was great and our server was very friendly.

The food was outstanding – the T-bone steak was cooked to perfection and was absolutely amazing, and the kids were thrilled with their pizza. A huge thank you to our host, Vini, who was so welcoming and kind. He made our family's double birthday celebration feel incredibly special. Highly recommended!

The service, setting and atmosphere were great. The food was disappointing, especially considering the price. Its not cheap and of the 5 of us that ate brunch - None of us were particularly blown away by the food. The presentation of the food looked stunning and photographed very well..so perfect for posting on social. - Again, very friendly staff. It's a shame we probably won't be back for brunch though.

Had an amazing time at Layla’s Rooftop for my birthday. The service was amazing, our host for the night was Vini and he did a phenomenal job. He was extremely attentive and made our experience one to remember. The food was delicious and the views and vibes were great. It’s hard to keep a party of 15 happy at all times but he managed to do so with ease. Will definitely return.

I ordered the wild mushroom ravioli, which was absolutely amazing, perfectly balanced with the truffle and sage butter. There was a mix-up in the kitchen and they accidentally thought I had ordered steak, so my ravioli took a bit longer than the rest of the table’s meals. The staff were incredibly kind and took the ravioli off the bill without me even asking, thanks! 🫶🏻 For dessert, I had the limoncello pie, which was refreshingly tangy and just the right level of sweet, and paired it with a limonata cocktail that was delicious. Overall, the food was wonderful, but it was the attentive and generous service that made the evening truly memorable. Highly recommend!

Avoid Layla’s for Celebrations. Terrible Service and No Flexibility We went to Layla’s yesterday for my friend’s birthday with a booking for 18 people. From the start, the experience was awful. The restaurant was almost empty, yet they refused to put our group together at one table. The “set menu” was just three starters, three pizzas, and three desserts. Several guests didn’t want pizza, but the waiter said we still had to pay €37.50 each – no flexibility, no understanding. The atmosphere became tense, with the supervisor using dismissive body language that made everyone uncomfortable. Most people ended up taking unwanted pizza home, and we were even forced to pay a €58 service charge. As someone with 10 years in hospitality, I have never seen such poor communication, lack of respect, and unwillingness to accommodate. If you’re thinking of celebrating here – don’t. Poor communication turned what should have been a happy celebration into a stressful and unpleasant experience.

GERARD BYRNE STUDIO is a unique art gallery and artist studio in Dublin, offering a rare glimpse into the world of one of Ireland's leading contemporary artists. Visitors can witness Gerard Byrne at work, gaining insight into his creative process and admiring his exquisite impressionistic paintings. The studio provides an intimate setting to appreciate fine art and engage with the artist himself. With its light-flooded space and welcoming atmosphere, this gallery offers a memorable experience for art enthusiasts and collectors alike.
Gerard was putting finishing touches on this painting when we arrived at the gallery. Gerard and his wife Agata were extremely friendly and showed us around the gallery. He has clearly lived a very interesting life and spent an hour sharing stories with us. Was a privilege to meet someone on the forefront of the Irish art scene. The fact that he is completely self taught is mind blowing to me. Would definitely recommend visiting the gallery if you get the chance
Fergal B — Google review
I had the pleasure of visiting the gallery recently. The pieces were fabulous, but my favourite part was Gerard's tales of his life as an artist in New York, Berlin and beyond. Such an interesting afternoon. I would highly recommend popping by.

I absolutely loved my visit to this studio in Dublin. The artwork was stunning and offered such a unique, personal perspective of the city through the artist’s eyes. You can truly feel the passion and thought behind each piece. Agata, the artist’s wife, was so welcoming and generous with her time — she walked me through the stories and inspirations behind the work in such a heartfelt way. She even took the time to help me plan parts of my trip, giving me recommendations and writing out a little itinerary, which was incredibly thoughtful. Their warmth and passion made this visit unforgettable, and I would highly recommend stopping here to anyone visiting Dublin. It’s not just an art gallery — it’s an experience filled with creativity, kindness, and connection.

I recently had the pleasure of visiting Gerard Byrne's studio in Ranelagh. Despite it being during the Christmas break, Gerard generously opened the studio after I contacted him to purchase a stunning book of his artwork (entitled "Turning Corners") as a gift. He not only signed the book but also took the time to write a personalised note for the recipient, which was such a kind gesture. We also had the pleasure of meeting Agata, the Creative Director, who is Gerard's wife. The studio itself is a beautiful, atmospheric space that perfectly complements Gerard’s stunning artwork. Although we only stayed a short while because of the time of year, I would highly recommend visiting Gerard Byrne’s studio.

I am happy to visit Gerard in his studio. I fell in love with his art because of a piece of railing on one of his pictures. So free and with such an artist's stroke to make a never-to-be-reproduced movement of the arm. His art by charcoal equals his art with oil. Worth seeing. Worth visiting.
ANN L — Google review
Overwhelmingly touched and impressed by the experience the studio on a rainy day. I was lucky enough to have a conversation with Gerard himself and his beautiful wife Agatha they both so kind and patient to share the experience and the story behind the art work. His paint so filled with lively and warm color. And his book’Turn Corner’ is a collection of 150 stunning works during the covid 19 pandemic spring 2020- Summer 2021. Look forward to the exhibition soon!

Visiting the gallery was the highlight of my last trip to Dublin! When we arrived Gerard was in the process of finishing off a painting and it was fascinating to talk to him about how he works. Hearing some of the stories behind the paintings was great and adds a whole new dimension. Gerard and Agata had us thoroughly entertained with different stories from over the years. The gallery space itself is beautiful and does justice to the absolutely stunning paintings. I loved getting to see so many familiar spots in Dublin through new eyes!

Er Buchetto Caffe Italiano, a charming little spot, has temporarily relocated to merge with its sister cafe Scoff at 55. Despite the address change, the authentic Italian coffee and delightful snacks remain unchanged. This purple haven offers a taste of Italy with its range of paninis and quality Italian products. It's an inviting place to enjoy a panini, sip on wine, and relax with a newspaper.
I absolutely love this place. The avacado toast is gorgeous - so filling and the flavours are all so balanced. I’ve also had the tomato and basil soup and sandwich deal in the past and the soup is hands down the nicest I’ve had in ireland. On a rainy day I find myself craving it. The staff are lovely and I did get a lovely pistachio espresso coffee (I can’t remember the name) but it looked and tasted fabulous. It fills up for lunch. There has always been a seat free as the service is quick and efficient. It’s not the type of place to sit for a few hours, catch up on work etc. it’s the type of cafe you bring a friend to for a delicious bite and a catch up. They also have outdoor seating and the menu is very reasonably priced

The breakfast is available till 11:45. There are both vegetarian and vegan options (incl. plant-based milk). The avocado toast is simply the best! There are both an outside and inside sitting areas, as well as toilets (upstairs, though). The staff was friendly. They took their time with the drinks and food prep but the waiting was worth it. I would recommend for everyone in the kitchen to wear masks if you will let us, your guests, observe the whole process. Only one of the three ladies had her mask on. One of ladies was having her mask while walking among us but as soon as she was in the kitchen, she completely took it off which really made no sense to me (we are still in the middle of a COVID-19 pandemic).

The Book of Kells Experience is a must-see attraction in Dublin, Ireland. Housed at Trinity College, this ancient manuscript dating back to 800 AD contains illuminated illustrations of the Christian Gospels. The college itself, established over 400 years ago during Queen Elizabeth's reign, offers a tranquil escape from the city center's hustle and bustle.
HISTORIC BOOK! Interesting process on how it was created, handed down, and preserved. The long hall( library was amazing). Evolution of mapping. Wonderful that these historic volumes are being carefully taken care of and digitalized for the whole worldto access. Thoroughly enjoyed the debate between iconic busts in the second half!
Monica W — Google review
The whole experience was pretty well done. The best part of course seeing the Book of Kells. The library was incredible. Unfortunately most of the books were removed for renovation, but enough were still there to get the feel of it. The red building at the end was a full immersive experience - that made me dizzy and nauseous. I wish I could’ve purchased a ticket without the red building (just the book of Kells and the library), but the option wasn’t available. Recommend buying tickets online in advance to get your preferred timed entry.
Emily P — Google review
A truly fascinating and culturally rich experience that offers a deep insight into one of Ireland’s greatest treasures. The Book of Kells Experience combines history, art, and spirituality in a beautifully curated exhibition that captures the skill and devotion of the monks who created this masterpiece over a thousand years ago. The exhibition itself is well laid out, with clear storytelling and impressive visuals that explain the creation of the manuscript and its incredible detail. The lighting, atmosphere, and overall presentation make it easy to appreciate both the artistry and the reverence behind the book. The short film at the start gives great context and helps visitors understand just how remarkable the work is. The real showstopper, however, is the Long Room Library — one of the most breathtaking spaces in Dublin, if not the world. Walking through it feels like stepping back in time. The scale, the scent of old wood and books, and the sheer sense of history are unforgettable. The only slight downside is that it can get quite busy, which makes it harder to take in the exhibits at your own pace. The display area for the Book of Kells itself is smaller than expected, and you don’t get much time to linger. A few more interactive or modern interpretive elements would really enhance the experience, especially for younger visitors or families. Still, this is an essential stop for anyone visiting Dublin — an inspiring reminder of Ireland’s deep scholarly and artistic heritage, and a beautifully preserved piece of world history. Well worth seeing once in a lifetime. 🇮🇪📖✨

Amazing. Do this. Go here. First of all, the place looks little phenomenal. Its really really interesting and super well built with tons of history and cool facts in every tiny crevice of the campus. And even better is that the tour guides know these details and they di give you a really good overview of everything. Additionally, the old library is a magnificent sight. With the atlas sculpture and the harp! Really really cool!
Daniel A — Google review
Well, I was expecting the place to be much bigger. I’m not sure why, but half of the library (bookshelves) was empty. The Book of Kells (I mean the book-artefact) is worth seeing – later there’s a 3D film projected on the wall with an explanation of its history. But the film is really slow… Later it is another film. Overall, the place is definitely worth a visit, but the price is really high – €20. In my personal opinion it should be cheaper. But defenetly whole Trinnity Collage area looks amazing.
Leona B — Google review
Words are nit enough to describe how awesome it was and no photo dies the library’s scale justice. The tour in the 2nd building was very cool and interactive too. I liked the live statues and the films: both are very well put together and visually appealing. If you have enough time, try to go with a guide. And make sure to come early - it closes at 16.30.

Attending Trinity College was just an unforgettable experience for us. We've seen a lot of different libraries and tours, but it's just the atmosphere of science and Greece. We were very impressed. Place of worship
Christ Church Cathedral is a medieval place of worship in Dublin, Ireland. It has a rich history dating back to the 11th century when the first Christianized Danish king built a wooden church at the site. The present stone structure was constructed around 1200 and underwent extensive renovations in the 19th century, giving it a Victorian appearance. The cathedral features a crypt that measures over 60 meters in length and has served various purposes throughout its lifetime, including as a marketplace and pub.
Located just barely a kilometre away from the so called iconic Dublin Castle, Christ Church Cathedral is an architectural gem that commands both reverence and admiration. The soaring spires, intricately carved stone façade, and centuries-old Gothic-Romanesque blend make it a breathtaking sight for anyone with even a passing interest in history or design. Though I chose not to venture inside due to the rather steep €11 entrance fee, the exterior alone is worth the visit. The surrounding grounds are serene and beautifully maintained, with thoughtfully placed park benches that offer a perfect vantage point to soak in the cathedral's grandeur. Whether you're pausing for a moment of quiet reflection or simply taking in the skyline, the atmosphere here feels timeless. A must-see landmark for those exploring central Dublin—steeped in history, magnificently preserved, and easily accessible on foot from the heart of the city.
Megh B — Google review
We visited Christ Church Friday, September 12. It was a wet and cool day so we did not walk around the gardens. The church is incredible on the outside and in. You pay an admission fee to enter and take the self-guided tour. They provide a pamphlet to read as you move from room to room with great information about the history and use of the space. The main level is stunning. Beneath, you venture into the medieval crypt. This was amazing. Christ Church is completely worth the time and small fee.

We visited on a cloudy Sunday afternoon and wasn't too busy. It was €12 to get in but 50 cents cheaper if you booked online. There is an audio tour you can download to your phone for free. The building is beautiful and the grounds are pretty. The audio tour is very helpful to get the most out of your visit.
Nicole P — Google review
Christ Church Cathedral is one of Dublin’s most striking landmarks - the architecture is incredible even just from the outside. Dating back to around 1030, it’s the city’s oldest medieval cathedral and still commands attention with its Gothic stonework, towers, and arched bridge linking the buildings. Even if you don’t go inside, it’s worth the stop - the grounds are well kept, and the setting gives you a real sense of old Dublin’s history right in the middle of the modern city.
EzADivat — Google review
Stunning piece of Dublin’s history and architecture. The cathedral is beautifully preserved, with incredible stonework and a peaceful atmosphere inside. The crypt beneath is fascinating, filled with artifacts and stories from centuries past. The staff are welcoming and very knowledgeable. Definitely worth a visit whether you’re into history, architecture, or just want a quiet moment in the heart of the city.
Lam N — Google review
A historic, magnificent church that is still in operation today. One of my biggest regrets from this trip was that I didn't give myself more time to spend here! The audio tour provides a variety of lenses that you can adjust to your interests or explore every possible branch. Each nook and cranny of the building has a story (at least!).
Ness W — Google review
One of my favorite attractions in Dublin. This medieval cathedral is absolutely breathtaking and we neatly had the whole place to ourselves. The stained glass and stone work is absolutely gorgeous. You're also free to explore the crypt which houses countless precious-metal artifacts, the Christchurch copy of the Magna Carta, and the famous cat and rat, or "Tom and Jerry" as I heard some locals jokingly call them. According to radiocarbon dating, a mouse jumped into the church's pipe organ almost 200 years ago to escape a cat, who dived in after the mouse and got stuck. The lack of oxygen in the pipe organ led to the mummificaton of both animals over many decades.
Noah D — Google review
We visited this beautiful cathedral in the morning on a Saturday. We used our gocity pass to visit. It is truly beautiful! We really enjoyed touring and learning the history of this beautiful place of worship. It is still an active place of worship. There is an audio guide and also a written guide that will educate you about the different aspects of the cathedral. There are beautiful stained glass windows! You should definitely take the time to tour.

Located within the historic Dublin Castle grounds, the Chester Beatty Library is a renowned cultural attraction in Ireland. It was named European Museum of the Year in 2002 and houses an extensive collection of religious and artistic texts amassed by mining magnate Sir Alfred Chester Beatty.
Absolutely wonderful collection and totally free. A great afternoon in Dublin spent perusing these detailed displays and informative presentations of books, manuscripts, artifacts, costumes, etc. Too many gems to list. Mind blowing assortment of historical collectibles from all corners of the world. Highly recommend!!

Chester Beatty is a gem in Dublin. The Islamic collection is beautiful, with stunning Qur’anic manuscripts, calligraphy, and rare texts displayed with care and respect. The explanations are clear and interesting, making the art and history easy to understand. The museum also shows how Islamic culture connects with other world traditions, which makes the experience even richer. The space is calm and welcoming, perfect for wandering slowly and enjoying the details. Entry is free (donations welcome), and there’s a lovely rooftop garden and a nice café. Highly recommended for anyone curious about Islamic art and culture.
Muhammad N — Google review
Just like any other museum you must have probably seen over many countries or just India alone. Tucked just behind Dublin Castle, the Chester Beatty Library is a quiet cultural gem that offers a glimpse into the artistic and literary treasures of the past—without costing a cent to enter (although they technically do entice you with a cafe just at the entrance to get your stomachs churning at the fancy menu). While the layout follows the traditional museum format, the collection itself is anything but ordinary. From ancient manuscripts and rare religious texts to exquisite Asian scrolls, Islamic calligraphy, and beautifully illuminated Christian gospels, there’s something here to captivate any curious mind. The exhibitions are thoughtfully curated, offering insight into the world’s great cultures and belief systems through the lens of art and storytelling. The staff, particularly at the entrance, are genuinely warm and welcoming, eager to offer guidance without being intrusive. A generous supply of brochures and tour options are available just as you walk in—many of them quite pricey, but understandably so for a once-in-a-lifetime visit. Whether you're a seasoned museum-goer or just looking to escape the bustle of the city for a while, Chester Beatty is ok for a one time visit.

A beautiful collection of book-focused artifacts from all over the world. I spent several hours here and enjoyed every moment of it. If you are interested in the development of the book over time in different cultures, this will be perfect for you. The facilities are well-kept and it was easy to get around. The museum is free to enter and next door to Dublin Castle.

All of the items in the museum are so beautiful, and I felt they were arranged nicely to allow them to properly tell their story. Very incredible artifacts here. It’s free, so it’s definitely worth a visit. The Dubh Linn park next door is so beautiful, and it’s right behind the Dublin Castle

What a fascinating museum unlike anything you will ever see. Beatty was an American industrialist who collected over 600,000 artifacts. He was interested in books and script from around the world and has some of the oldest cuneiform writing in existence. There are also artifacts and history of most religions of the world. Don't miss this museum. It is just behind the castle.

Nice, quiet library, well organised and worth visiting. The shop on the ground floor is impossible to visit if you are autistic because of the overwhelming smell joss sticks which are used. The National Botanic Gardens in Dublin is a sprawling expanse featuring naturalistic areas, formal gardens, an arboretum, and a Victorian palm house. It serves as both a research and conservation center as well as a recreational park, drawing over 500,000 visitors annually. Families can explore the 50-acre space with its diverse plant species, rose and rock gardens, pond and river walks, organic fruit and vegetable gardens, and Ireland's only indoor rainforest.

These gardens are just beautiful. Very well maintained, (huge!) and we had a great time here. The fact that this beautiful place is free is astounding. There are also lots of squirrels in the surrounding area and they come right up and take food out of your hand.

What a wonderful place, which is free to explore. It's mostly very peaceful and relaxed with lots of paths and trails. There's countless species of plants and trees. A number of greenhouses for plants that require warmer tropical climates. There's also a couple of lovely ponds with ducks and some herring. For me the curious squirrels are the best part, they are fairly tame and will approach you if they think you have food for them. Vegetables and herbs are also grown in their own walled garden. There a great cafe with the usual tea and coffee with pastries. They also do sandwiches and best of all some tasty dinners. It's wheelchair and buggy friendly and a paid carpark is in the grounds.

Croke Park stands as a monumental symbol of Irish culture and sport, being the largest stadium in Ireland and the third largest in Europe. With a staggering capacity of 82,300, it serves as the heart of Gaelic sports, hosting thrilling matches of Gaelic Football and Hurling from April to September each year. The finals for these beloved games take place every September, drawing passionate crowds that often surpass those seen at professional sporting events—remarkable considering all players are amateurs!
Felt like a Steelers home game here, great job converting the pitch to an NFL field. Had no problems getting to or around the stadium. To my Irish friends I hope the NFL did such a sacred venue justice. I look forward to seeing a Gaelic football fixture next time I’m here!

Brilliant, very Big! Wish they had this in the North of Ireland. Went to watch the NFL match. Pitsburgh Steelers vs Minnesota Vikings. first time a proper NFL league match had ever been played in Croke Park Dublin. Journey has a lot of traffic but wasn't the worst.

Croke Park is one of Dublin’s most iconic landmarks — a place where history, culture, and energy come alive. Known for hosting unforgettable sporting events, massive concerts, and top-class conferences, it captures the true spirit of Ireland. With its impressive design, vibrant atmosphere, and world-class facilities, Croke Park is more than a stadium — it’s a symbol of Dublin’s heart and pride.

We did the Skyline - Halloween special, Tales from the Pale - fantastic both stories and views. Book your ticket in advance and wrap up because its windy. Something we always said we'd do well worth it, views spectacular.

Amazing atmosphere. The seats are very close together and the concessions are overpriced, but we had so much fun we didn't care. There is no parking at or near the stadium. 75,000 people walked in and walked out

Wonderful experience getting into and out of Croke Park. They have large crowds down. Both the bathrooms and food concessions could be improved. Many concessions were out of items before the game started. There were long lines to some dingy bathrooms! We had a great time!!

Croke Park is a must-visit if you’re in Dublin. We did the stadium tour, which was really interesting and gave a great sense of Ireland’s sports history. We even came back another time for the St. Patrick’s Day events, and it was a lot of fun—such a lively atmosphere!

Odd set up could only purchase beer/cider or water on the ground/pitch level which isnt a great option when you didn't drink beer / cider. Could buy various options food and drink wise up a level but couldn't bring it down. Was in the accessible section which was perfectly situated, sounds was on point (Robbie Williams gig) however still had to go out to main bar / food area which was very awkward the more the ground level filled up! A mini bar option in that section to avoid having to keep coming out and back again / trying to get through the crowds with a wheelchair would be even better. But staff were all approachable and helpful. Lack of stars is due to lack of options drinks wise jist because you are on the pitch

The Hugh Lane Gallery, also known as the Dublin City Gallery, is a renowned art institution in Dublin. It houses an impressive collection of modern and contemporary art, featuring works by European masters like Degas, Monet, and Manet alongside pieces by Irish artists such as Dorothy Cross and Sean Scully. One of its most popular attractions is the reconstructed London studio of Francis Bacon, the celebrated Dublin-born artist.
Oldest Modern Art Museum in the world. This historic and beautiful building houses impressionists to contemporary Irish artists. The eclectic works are beautiful and even given a sense of patriotism. They offer free tours.

Absolutely stunning! Such a wonderful gem to discover on our trip to Dublin in March. Right across from the Garden of Remembrance at the North end of Parnell square. The building itself is a work of art, and the pieces within just as breathtaking. The frames were artworks in their own right, and the paintings were a joy to see. All the staff were so helpful, and great to have a bit of a giggle with 😁 Finished off with a visit to the gift shop and relaxed with an amazing mocha at the cafe then headed off for the rest of the day from the bus stop right outside.

Located in the center of the city, this free museum hosts the Francis Bacon papers, items from his studio in London. Worth visiting the small permanent exhibition together with the temporary collection. The coffeeshop is fine but noisy. Outdoor seating is available.

Quite nice museum, visitable in less than a day, the highlight is obviusly Francis Bacon Studio which is AMAZING. Being "addicted" to his paintings this museum was a must, seing also unfinish paintings give us the posdibility to see hist painting process in detail.

We didn’t expect much and were struck right at the entrance by fantastic stained glass window by Harry Clarke, this along is absolutely worth visiting. And if you into art you’ll find much more to enjoy and admire. Free entrance for everyone.

The best part? It’s free. Which in Dublin, makes it more beautiful than some of the art. 🌧️ Perfect for: • Rainy days • Escaping loud tourists • Quietly judging other people pretending to understand modern art • Or being one of those people yourself (we’ve all been there) Final thoughts: The Hugh Lane Gallery is a lovely, low-key cultural gem — full of great art, peaceful halls, and enough artistic credibility to make your Instagram look like you’re very intellectual. Bonus: you’ll leave feeling slightly more refined, even if all you really did was stare at a sculpture and think, “Hmm… vibes.

Nestled within the historic Royal Hospital Kilmainham, the Irish Museum of Modern Art (IMMA) is a captivating destination for art enthusiasts. Established in 1990 by the Irish government, this impressive structure dates back to 1684 and boasts a design reminiscent of Paris's Les Invalides. IMMA showcases an eclectic mix of contemporary art through both permanent collections and temporary exhibitions that highlight both renowned artists and emerging talents.
There is free entry and parking on the site. Several good exhibitions are on display. You can also learn about the history of the building and the soldiers who used to live there. The garden is lovely and perfect for a short walk. Even if you don’t like modern art, the garden itself is a must-visit. The staff were great too :)

I am not a big fan of modern art, but I absolutely loved this place. Yes, I rolled my eyes at the piles of dirt and bricks. I was confused as to whether the technical issue piece was art or an actual broken piece. However, in amongst that were some striking pieces. The building is surrounded by gardens and green spaces, which are also worth a look. The building itself is architecturally interesting and worth a walk around. Staff were welcoming and helpful. There is free wifi, a nice souvenir shop and a cafe. Best of all, entry was totally free. There are toilets, and these were clean. The building is fully wheelchair accessible. There are disabled toilets.

We didn't have weather for the surrounding gardens and we definitely will be back. Five Stars - worth a visit. Thank you IMMA.

What a beautiful place! I went to assist the Earth Rising festival at the Museum and I discovered these gorgeous gardens, they are really well maintained, clean, a real pleasure to the senses. I recommend go when it's quiet and you will feel you're not in the middle of a city, but in a castle far away.. gorgeous, I will go again soon.

Great museum which I will miss very much. I was very lucky and privileged to live beside the museum for the past 19 years and tried to visit it as often as I could. Some excellent exhibitions through the years, the Dorothy Cross retrospective in particular comes to mind. The comparative exhibition of Jack B Yeats and Lucien Freud is another fond memory. The current exhibition of Sam Gilliam’s work is highly recommended. There are other artists whose names fail me now but I will give a mention later. I also loved walking around the grounds of the museum. It’s a pity that the view has been somewhat diminished by all the development that’s going up but it’s still to be enjoyed. The courtyard has its own special atmosphere, haunting but peaceful.

A gem of place for modern art lovers, set in a pristine 17th cent Royal Hospital building which has its own history and tales to tell in the Hospital history section . . The guided tour is detail and aligned to the guides interests and views which is quite unique. The viewpoints and perspectives to each art form is to its dot for few, while shallow for some, and immense for others. The stunning outdoor walled gardens ,the bell which is used in the mezzanine, the underground alleys of the hospital building, curated art works from renowned Irish & intl artists, the additonal artform/cloth works in the external building , Huge projection screen for events, sculpture and what not .Perfect place for modern art lovers

A museum with very interesting art. When we arrived they were teaching traditional Irish dance classes in pairs, very nice. There is a cafeteria and a restaurant that has very tasty food and delicious drinks. Inside the galleries you can find very curious and interesting modern works of art. Highly recommended to go with your family, friends or alone. I'm sure you'll find new friends there.

Came here with my class of 9th graders today. We had an absolute blast. It was very interesting to learn about three Gaelic sports and then have the kids try them out. 100% recommend!
R C — Google review
This tour was so fun and a great way to understand the history of these traditional Irish sports. The experience has super friendly and patient trainers. The trainers teach you the rules and skills step by step, which then allows you to play a short game. The tour can be as intense or as relaxed as you want. It was a very memorable experience and I would highly recommend doing this tour for an Irish experience. The experience is about 3 hours long and you learn three sports: the first is handball (not the same as Olympic handball - more like squash or racquetball). Then, they teach you the rules of hurling, which is like field hockey mixed with lacrosse mixed with baseball mixed with cricket. The last sport they teach you is gaelic football. That is like basketball mixed with soccer mixed with volleyball and also like American football or rugby. They take breaks between each sport to explain the rules and give you glasses of water. The facilities are very nice as well. It is super interesting to learn the history of these sports, how they came to be, and how the Gaelic Athletic Association is an amateur sporting association -- in fact, it is the largest amateur sports association in the world. Each neighborhood in Ireland has its own club, and the residents play only for their area clubs. The association does not have any professional players - just amateur players. They explained how previously the British would ban or restrict their ability to play these traditional sports. Recently there has been a resurgence in these traditional sports, which is great to see right now. The trainers also answer all of the questions you may have about any of the sports, how to play the sports, or even about life in Ireland. In conclusion, this experience playing Irish sports is the best and most fun way to experience your time in Ireland, especially if you are traveling with children who like to do active things while on vacation in a foreign country. As a parent, this experience is a great alternative to indoor activities such as video games, youtube, chess, or other games you may play indoors. I can not recommend this experience enough. My children are still talking about the three sports even though it is over. They will remember this experience forever and playing Gaelic sports will be a highlight of the vacation for them.

Farmer Browns Rathmines is a traditional Irish pub and brunch spot located on Lower Rathmines Road in Dublin. The restaurant offers a cozy atmosphere with a large open fireplace, making it an inviting place to enjoy a meal. Their menu features a variety of brunch options, including breakfast tacos, full Irish breakfast, pancake stacks, and fried chicken and waffles.
Really enjoyed our lunch here on a lovely sunny day. Tried something new for once in the Fried Chicken with Waffles and was pleasantly surprised. I really liked the menu here and am really looking forward to going back to try new things. Seems like every lunch/brunch spot has the same few items but Farmer Browns really bucks that trend. Can't recommend it anymore highly.

This place gets a well deserved 5 star. Was there with my family for a quick dinner after work. So the place was not too crowded yet. We had nachos as a starter. Honestly the best one I have tried in a really long time. Very tasty. We finished it off between us 3. I ordered the steak tacos. Really impressed with the fact that they actually cut the steak in the tacos. It was perfectly cooked. Not chewy at all. The fish and chips was also amazing, all the sauce were fresh. And the burger was very tasty and quite big. We work in the food business and trying to find a place that doesn’t cut corners is difficult these days. The cocktails too were amazing. Phew! We went home stuffed 😀. The service was also nice. Prices could be a bit high, but you are in the middle of Rathmines. The weekend gets really busy so book your table ahead. One of the rare place we will come back too

We have been here for brunch and it was always fantastic. Today was our first time for dinner and it was as good as always. The decor inside is so cute, the staff are friendly and welcoming as well as efficient. We ordered the quesadilla and the chicken Caesar, both great and didn't take long to come out. The lemonade is also so good. Love this place.

Nature & Parks
Nestled in the heart of Dublin, Iveagh Gardens is often referred to as the city's hidden gem or "secret garden." Originally designed in 1865 and beautifully restored since 1995, this enchanting space offers a serene escape from urban life. Once known as Coburg Gardens, it was revitalized by Sir Benjamin Guinness and later gifted to the Irish nation.
Visited yesterday. Been to St. Stephen’s Green a few times and love it, but this one’s smaller and far less crowded, feels like a wee hidden gem. The fountains, waterfall, and rose garden are lovely, and it’s perfect for a quiet Monday morning stroll or a coffee away from the bustle.
Jack H — Google review
Iveagh Gardens is a true hidden gem in the heart of Dublin. Tucked away just behind Harcourt Street and a short stroll from St. Stephen’s Green, it’s easy to miss—but once you find it, you’ll be glad you did. The park is beautifully designed, combining formal landscaping with a natural, relaxed feel. Highlights include elegant fountains, a small waterfall, a charming grotto, and wide open green spaces perfect for picnics or reading a book. What really sets it apart is the peaceful atmosphere. Unlike other city parks, it’s rarely crowded, even on sunny days. It feels like a secret escape right in the middle of the city, offering quiet pathways, shady spots under mature trees, and beautifully maintained flower beds. It’s a great place to unwind, have a thoughtful walk, or just enjoy a bit of nature without leaving the city center. Occasionally, it hosts events like Taste of Dublin or small concerts, but outside of those times, it remains calm and serene. Whether you're a local or a tourist, it’s well worth taking the time to find the entrance and explore this tranquil oasis.
Karthika N — Google review
A nice garden that gives you a bit of peace from the city. It is quite large and contains a waterfall, two fountains, a yew maze, a rose garden, archery grounds, and some statues. There are toilets in the gardens. The gardens are mainly wheelchair accessible. There is access through the Clonmel Street and Hatch Street entrances, but not through the Concert Hall Gate entrance. There are hard surface paths around the gardens.
Shelley C — Google review
It’s pretty, but the fountains/waterfalls weren’t running. Since we were already near St. Stephen’s Green, we checked it out. But I wouldn’t go out of your way to get here because it seems from the other reviews that it’s hit or miss when they turn on the fountains.

Worth the trip here. Everyone goes to St. Stephen’s Green but these gardens are close by and less crowded. Highly recommend taking the time to visit.

A pub crawl along Ranelagh Road offers stops at various pubs like Birchall's and R McSorleys.
Just arrived in Dublin, wanted a local place to chill and grab a beer. This place hit the spot!! Great service, been chatting up the staff and they are all great. I suspect we’ll be back here!!
Amy T — Google review
I have very fond memories of this place, which prompted me to write a little review. I lived in Beggar’s Bush over 25 years ago and used frequent Slattery’s on a regular basis. I loved sitting in the bar, either on my day off or on an early Saturday afternoon; looking out the window up the road, watching the world go by or chatting to the ‘auld fellas. It was usually raining (very Frank McCourt-esque!) and I’d sit there, ruminating about life in general. It was always good fun on match days with a raucous but fun atmosphere, particularly if the rugby was on. I remember one time, some kilted Scottish fans decided to start blasting on the bagpipes. Those things are loud. But that’s rugby for you, the fans always get on and that day, the craic was ninety! Now - and I totally understand why, the outdoor area blocks that view - it is an asset though , for the smokers. Sat at the bar, the fonts are way too bright and dominate what you can or cannot see. The smell of drains is a bit omni-present. But, I still have a lot of grá for the place; the pint is decent, and I will come back - if nothing, for the memories.

The staff remotely shut the outdoor window panel, knocking over our table and spilling our beers onto our phones and clothes. Instead of an apology, we were mocked with comments like ‘your beers were almost finished anyway,’ and when we asked for replacements we were told ‘you lost your chance’ before being forced to leave. This behaviour was aggressive, disrespectful and completely unacceptable towards loyal customers.

Architectural Buildings
Leinster House, a stunning former ducal palace constructed in 1745, stands as a testament to Dublin's rich history and architectural beauty. Originally designed by Richard Castle for the Duke of Leinster, this Georgian-style building now serves as the seat of Ireland's parliament, known as the Oireachtas. Its design is said to have inspired elements of the White House in Washington D.C., particularly its striking double-height hall and picture gallery.
During Culture Night, I finally had the chance to step inside Leinster House – the heart of Irish democracy and usually closed to the public. Walking through its Georgian halls, where Ireland’s most important debates take place, felt like stepping into history. The architecture still carries the elegance of the 18th century, while the chambers remind you this is where the country’s future is shaped. One of the highlights was learning how Leinster House inspired the design of the White House in Washington, a beautiful reminder of Ireland’s influence abroad. What I loved most is that Culture Night opens the doors to everyone, turning this political space into a cultural treasure. 💡 Tips for visitors: • Public access is only possible on Culture Night (every September) or by arranging a tour through a TD or Senator. • Arrive early – queues can be long. • Check the Oireachtas website for updates and tour information. • Combine your visit with a walk along Kildare Street and nearby Merrion Square for a full Dublin heritage experience.

Leinster House: Where Irish History and US Architecture Meet! 🏛️🇮🇪 *Leinster House isn't just a building; it's the beating heart of Irish democracy and a must-see for history buffs! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Located in Dublin, this grand 18th-century palace is the current home of the **Oireachtas**, the Irish parliament, comprising Dáil Éireann (the lower house) and Seanad Éireann (the Senate). Walking past, you can feel the pulse of Irish political life. But here's the quirky bit: it was originally built for the Earl of Kildare (who later became the Duke of Leinster). More surprisingly, it served as a key design inspiration for the **White House in Washington D.C.**! 🤯🇺🇸 The Irish architect, James Hoban, who studied at a Dublin society drawing school that operated here, used the building's floor plan and structure as a model for the U.S. President’s residence. Talk about transatlantic influence! The building has truly had three lives: first as a Duke's residence, then as the headquarters of the Royal Dublin Society (RDS), and finally, since 1922, as the parliament building. While interior tours are limited and usually require prior booking (check the official website!), admiring its stately architecture from Kildare Street, nestled between the National Museum and the National Library, is highly recommended. It’s a stunning reminder of the city's Georgian heritage. A beautiful and historically significant landmark. Don't miss it! ✨ 🕯☘️🫂🇸🇪✝️🕊🇻🇦

It was my first experience at this parliament building when I visited as part of my community women's group. It was an invigorating, warm, educational, philosophical, and awakening experience for a person of colour. It was profound to contextualize reality and to confirm history. Perfect for someone who likes or is triggered by history or simply to see where most political decisions are made. It was also grand to meet the former PM and other parliamentarians.

Voici Crêperie & Wine Bar is a charming French-inspired spot located in Rathmines, just on the outskirts of Dublin's city center. The staff don Breton stripes and cook crepes in a repurposed Citroen, adding to the authentic French ambiance.
Lovely cozy place. I had a charcuterie and cheese board and a glass of wine - it was amazing. Portions were decent and it was good value for money. The atmosphere is perfect and the staff is super kind. Will definitely come back!

I visited Voici Crêperie and tried the French toast as well as a crêpe with almonds and vanilla ice cream. Both were delicious, and what makes this place stand out is that they serve coffee and desserts until late, plus they also have a wine bar. I think that’s a brilliant business strategy, especially considering that Dublin doesn’t have many cafés open late at night. Another detail that makes a big difference is the flour they bring in directly from France, which gives the crêpes a truly distinctive flavor. On top of that, the place has a lovely vibe and cozy décor, perfect for relaxing and enjoying the experience. Overall, it’s a spot that combines quality ingredients with a smart concept, making it well worth a visit.

I went this place last week. I requested to go upstairs. Waitress were really nice. Nice service. I am not sure but i think i ordered Vanilla Chocolate crepes ... not that sweet highly recommended ✨❤️🤍

Popped in for a little coffee break and tried the chai latte and an almond croissant. The croissant was a bit dry, not the best I’ve had, I’d give it a 6.5/10. The chai was probably a 7/10 for me. My friend ordered the croque madame and rated it a solid 7.8/10 That said, I did love the vibes! it’s a cosy spot where you can read peacefully or have a good chat. Super chill atmosphere!

My girlfriend and I usually visit this place, the food is so god and the staff very friendly, it’s an amazing spot for a coffee in rathmines, this time we went just for a crepe and a coffee, when we left my girlfriend forgot her bag in the outside area we realised when we were at home so I called, shout-out to the guy staff member in the other side of the phone was so nice and helpful he instantly went outside to look for the bag and saved it for us, of course we will be back as usual highly recommended

A really nice cosy spot for a bite to eat! Finally came in here for lunch after walking past it so many times and it was utterly delicious. We got a caprese crepe (added chicken) and also shared a Belgian chocolate and coconut shavings crepe which was 10/10. The coffee in here was some of the best I've had in Rathmines also! The staff were super friendly and welcoming, will definitely be returning here to try other menu items!!

Unfortunately cant give less then one star.I gave this place a second chance and started going often because the coffee is good and the staff are mostly friendly. But yesterday I went for breakfast and ordered something called "le petiti poulet"€13.75. To start with, the menu describes it as "Irish chicken breast" which makes you imagine a piece of real chicken breast. But in practice they serve that crepe with brie cheese/sun dried tomato/roket and some pale, pasty white strips (absolutely disgusting) that they dare to call it "Irish chicken fillet". But in reality it is chicken of the same quality as Musgrave. Which rather than being chicken (it is chicken waste made into a batter and molded into the shape of a breast mixed with preservatives and additives). Even so, I tried to eat it but it was impossible (I was convinced I would order that dish with real chicken even if it was a small portion, but real chicken). I left it and told the staff... nobody cared. charged €13.75 + coffee. ...I FELT ROBBED. I will never return nor recommend it to anyone.....they should stop embellishing the menu with descriptions that don't match the actual product, among other things.

The crepes were absolutely delicious, but the service was even better! The lovely girl who served us was so friendly and kind - a credit to her employers! Thank you Ella for your nice chats and for giving us so much of your time even though we could tell you were very busy. Will be returning soon!

Wonderful warehouse style shopping centre with a focus on food offerings. Originally designed as a bonded warehouse, it served as that for almost 2 decades before an early 2000s revamp offered it a revival and b new use. Perfect spot for lunch with multiple options available.

Not really a mall—more a big, lively food hall. Lots of seating in the middle, mostly grab-and-go places, easy for everyone to pick different food and eat together. Go before 12:15 to skip the lunch queues. It’s set in a gorgeous Victorian bonded warehouse that also houses the EPIC museum and a digital start-up space

Pub
Bar
Irish pub
Blackbird is a trendy tavern located in Rathmines, offering a laid-back and retro vibe. The bar is known for its extensive selection of craft beers, including both Irish and international varieties, making it a popular spot for beer enthusiasts. In addition to the impressive beer selection, Blackbird also serves up delicious pizzas, adding to the overall appeal of the venue. The cozy and quirky interior creates an inviting atmosphere for patrons to relax and enjoy their drinks.
I went to Blackbird with a couple of friends for a meet up. They have a wide range of alcohols to choose from. I ordered double shots of gin with tonics and my friends went for the ginger beer. The pub gets really busy in the evenings especially on weekends, however this place serves a very happening and cosy vibe. Their staff is very friendly and quick to serve. They serve Pizzas, however they’re brought from the next door Neapolitan pizza shop - UNO Pizzas and they are super to taste. We ordered the margarita and hot honey pizza. Both the pizzas were yumm, however the hot honey was a super sweet pizza. One of my “MUST VISIT PUB”recommendations.
Anwesha G — Google review
The pub as the name suggests has dark and dim light interiors all tables under candle light. The pub has a great selection of drinks. It's a great place to hand out with friends, and they provide decent selection of board games to enjoy as a group. They have limited food options. They get their food from Uno pizza from across the road. So not much options other than pizza. That being said pizza's are really good. Great place for pizza and drinks and to catch up with friends.
Vineet C — Google review
I’ve been a loyal customer of this pub for the last four years and have always loved the atmosphere and the memories I’ve made here. It really pains me to leave a one-star review, but my recent experience with the new security staff has left me feeling unwelcome and disrespected. When leaving the pub with my friends, we paused briefly at the entrance to say goodbye. The security guard asked us to move, saying we were blocking the entrance, and we complied. However, as I turned to say a quick goodbye to my friends, the security guard mocked and mimicked me, which felt incredibly unprofessional. When I addressed his behavior and said it was rude, he replied, “Well, I warned you twice.” I believe a security guard’s role is to ensure the safety and comfort of all patrons, not to antagonize or mock regular customers who pose no threat to the business or other customers. I’ve never had issues at this pub before, and I hope the management will address this matter. If I see improvements in how customers are treated, I’ll be more than happy to update my review to reflect the pub I’ve come to love.
Asli — Google review
Lovely place. A lot of young folks, some funny board games and great selection of drinks. Loved the vibe only down side the room was quite big and it was really hard to understand each other because of the noise (which is quite unfortunate for playing board games) but would recommend!
Luca — Google review
Stellar spot for a pint and a pizza, the lads working there are all dead sound* and they have some great pizzas available to order in. Cracking outside area that gets the evening sun and good music playing, gets busy early so get in while you can. *One woman working there got genuinely pissed off that I asked to charge the phone but otherwise they're all legends 😅
Alex T — Google review
Staff were all a bit strange. They kept asking us for ID even though we showed them. They asked every time we asked for a drink. In 28, it was actually a nice compliment if anything. They might have been drunk on the job or something I don't know.
Oisin G — Google review
Cozy atmosphere, beer that hits the spot, and pizza that somehow tastes better than my cooking, and that’s saying something. Honestly, I came for the beer, stayed for the pizza, and considered never leaving. What more could you ask for?
James — Google review
If you would like to get a table here is better to reserve in advance. For a Saturday was impossible to get something for 3 people. Is a bit loud if you would like to chat. Otherwise the atmosphere is nice.

Movie theater
The Stella Cinema Rathmines is a beautifully restored movie theater dating back to 1923, featuring art deco design. It offers a unique movie-watching experience with comfortable leather armchairs, sofas, and even double beds where you can enjoy food and cocktails delivered right to your seat. The venue has a striking atmosphere and friendly staff. In addition to typical cinema snacks like popcorn and bagged sweets, they also offer elevated options such as gourmet popcorn.
Wow, this place is amazing! It feels like I’m living in the 60s. The atmosphere is very sophisticated and fancy. I was on the bed with my boyfriend — I liked it, but the TV was a bit too close. Next time, I’ll choose the chairs. The highlights were: we had wine and beer, and I booked the popcorn and Mexican food through the website. When we arrived, the food and drinks were already on the table. I loved that!!!

The most aesthetic cinema in town really! We loved the place! The 50s vibes are just so good, food and cocktails amazing! You can even get served hot food at your seat. The comfort of the chairs is unreal! Hope we’ll be dining there as well, the place looks fab!

Really nice would definitely recommend, comfortable seats, different options, wheelchair accessible. Food and snacks great , slightly pricer then regular movie theater but worth it . Staff helpful/ friendly. Hot food or food needed to be prepared is brought to you in first 45min of movie. Recommend nachos or Parmesan fries

I decided to take a solo day for myself, & totally switch off from the world and what a decision it was. I went to see Mission Impossible: The Final Reckoning at The Stella – and honestly, this cinema is a dream. From start to finish, the experience felt like a luxurious escape from the world. First off, the armchairs. Oh my god. Big, beautiful, and cosy, spaced far enough apart that going alone felt completely natural and comfortable. You’re not crammed next to anyone, and every seat has its own side table and lamp. The layout is intimate, but not intrusive. Just perfect. The cinema itself? Pristine. Staff? So lovely – one male staff member in particular stood out. A sweet young server offered me a taste test of the “Vivian” cocktail before I committed (which, let’s be honest, is amazing as there’s nothing worse than paying for a cocktail you don’t like) but it was delicious. 😋 Before the movie started, I sat in the front lounge area, reading and sipping my drink in peace. It felt like a proper little escape. Then, once seated, I ordered a second drink and some cheese nachos to my chair – wow. Little VIP experience in itself. These weren’t your average cinema nachos. We’re talking real melted cheese poured on top, with extra jalapeños (freshly cut, not on the menu – a spicy touch I loved!) A little tip though: go to the toilet before the movie starts. The setup includes poufs and footrests at every chair, which are great for comfort and storage – but if you need to get out mid-movie, you’ll be doing some very polite manoeuvring (or light hopping) to reach the aisle. Honestly, I had an incredible time and left feeling relaxed, content, and a little indulgent in the best way. I’m hoping to make this a new tradition – going solo to The Stella, switching off completely, and giving myself the treat of slowing down and enjoying the moment. Highly recommend this little solo cinema ritual to anyone. ✨

The Stella Cinema in Rathmines is hands down the best cinema I’ve ever been to. It’s not just about watching a film – it’s about the entire experience. From the luxurious seating to the impeccable service, everything feels premium yet comfortable. The art deco interior has been beautifully restored, giving the space an elegant charm that perfectly complements the movie-going experience. The seats are incredibly comfortable, with plenty of legroom, and the small tables make it easy to enjoy food and drinks while watching. The staff are friendly, polite, and genuinely seem to care about ensuring every guest enjoys their visit. The sound and picture quality are top-notch, and the food and cocktails are excellent too. This isn’t just a cinema – it’s a treat. Five stars – simply the best in Dublin.

Could not be more disappointed by my experience today trying to enjoy the most anticipated film of the last year. There seems to be no etiquette even suggested at this establishment. This isn't a cinema, it's a temple to gluttony. People wouldn't stop rustling cellophane and munching food, walking up and down in front of the screen, ushers were walking past me delivering food for at least an hour into the film. And everyone surrounding me was talking at full volume and scrolling/taking photos on their phones???? It was like being at the zoo. It's not a restaurant, it's not a party, it's not a photo-op; it's a cinema — act like it. Not to mention how many people were blatantly illegally recording the screen without any consequence. Really shocking experience.
Gabriel Y — Google review
I went here today with my girlfriend to watch “While you were sleeping” and we had a great time. The atmosphere at this cinema / old theatre is to write home about. It is super well maintained and there is such a nice and relaxed vibe to it. We watched the movie from a couch on the balcony and it was great. The couch is super comfortable with lots of space! I’m normally not a huge fan of old movies but it felt right to watch an old movie in this setting and I wasn’t disappointed: it was a very entertaining movie. We will definitely return to Stella in the future for other movies!

Restaurant
Mother Reilly's Bar & Restaurant, affectionately known as 'Ma Reilly's', is a classic Irish pub located in Rathmines. The old-style bar features low ceilings, flagstone floors, and occasional live music, creating an authentic ambiance. The smoking area is cozy with ample space, while the interior boasts large benches and tables for bigger groups.
A few weeks ago, my wife and I had our small wedding celebration at Mother Reilly's Bar & Restaurant — and we couldn't have made a better choice. Everything was perfect. They have a private area with its own bar, which is ideal for anyone planning a small party or a gathering with friends. We’d like to thank the entire team, who were incredibly attentive and welcoming, and especially the manager Ed, who embraced our idea from the very beginning, kept in touch with us throughout, and helped make everything happen — from adapting the menu to making sure every detail matched our expectations. By the way, all the finger food was absolutely divine — the kitchen is fantastic. So, we just wanted to leave our heartfelt thanks here and say that Mother Reilly’s is now officially our favorite local bar. Nathan & Jheovana.

Went with wife and kids (10 & 13). This is a typical “pub grub” place and the food was good. Service was fine and friendly. Overall cleanliness was just average. We got chicken wings which were good. Bangers and mash were also fine. Caesar Salad was standard too.

I just wanted to let you know that i had a wonderful night! I’ve been going to Mother Ryles for a year now, and I’ve always had great experiences there and my birthday night was no different. Your staff is amazing, I’ve always been treated so well. The food was delicious, and all of my 50 guests loved the space, the food, and the service provided by your team. I really enjoyed the privacy the space offers, and I’d love to come back for another occasion. It was truly a memorable night! I’m very happy I chose you to celebrate my birthday.

Wonderful pub. Congratulations for staff very responsible and polite. I remember when I went to the pub with my colleagues of job, I ate pasta, drunk white wine and everything was incredible. I went back last week in during my break, I was very simple and I received amazing service.
Juliana S — Google review
Do you ever feel like you’ve been cheated out of a good meal? That’s what we experienced. We’d walked past Mother Reilly’s more times than I can count, always promising, “Next sunny day, we hit the beer garden.” Saturday gave us that gift — blue skies, a rare Dublin sun, and the added temptation of some nice chicken wings on the menu. Seemed like fate. The garden’s a good spot in theory — if you can navigate the strange, U-shaped labyrinth of corridors and doorways to figure out how to get served. No lounge staff in sight, so we hiked to the main bar. Three staff at the end, mid-conversation, eyes glazed with the kind of indifference that says we’re off the clock in our heads. I asked for a menu and a pint; the barman waved me back to my seat, said the lounge staff would come. Ten minutes later, they did. The wings came in either ½ kg or full kg portions — a size measurement of food we both found odd, and in hindsight, should have been our first warning. We ordered the half kilo with fries and then waited well over 30 minutes, long enough to seriously contemplate walking out. When they finally arrived, the wings were so small they felt like the runt cousins of actual chicken. There was little to no meat on them — the weight of the bones clearly justified the price tag. Fries? Cool, naked, unseasoned. We went on another salt-seeking trek through the maze. We left €45 lighter and still hungry. No buzz, no atmosphere, no care from the people running the joint. The kind of place that doesn’t know it’s in the hospitality business. There’s a million spots in Dublin where you can get a decent pint and wings that won’t leave you cursing the day. This, sadly, isn’t one of them.
Rory F — Google review
I booked the upper restaurant room for a private party, which was my best decision ever. The place was full, but despite that, the team was lovely, very attentive, and patient. The food was delicious and delivered quickly. If you want to throw a party and don't know where to do it, that's the place.
Kelli M — Google review
I just love this place. It’s got the best of both worlds — a top-notch restaurant and bar, but with the cosy feel of a real village pub. The food is absolutely fantastic, and there’s always something happening with regular live music and events. A brilliant place all around!
Tobias R — Google review
Very nice vintage style pub. Great location and great food. The reason for 3 stars is the service. The staff that was in shift when we were there was far more interested to be gathered together at the bar discussing in loud manner the most recent parties they have been to. We had starters and mains, not once we were approached by staff to check if everything is OK, would we like another drink etc.. Petty for the service because the food was really nice. Won't be in a rush to come back to this place.

Led by knowledgeable guides, the tours cover essential stops such as the Spire of Dublin, O'Connell Street, and significant locations related to the Easter Rising battles. Participants can expect insightful commentary on Irish history, culture, and language while gaining a deeper understanding of Dublin's rich heritage. Additionally, themed podcast tours are available for those interested in exploring specific aspects of the city's history and culture.
We have been doing walking tours in almost all cities that we’ve visited and the tours we did in Dublin with the yellow umbrella company were over exceeding our expectations. We first did the south side tour with Conor and enjoyed this experience so much that we booked for the north side tour as well as the pub tour for the day after. Conor was our guide for both the south and north side tours and he truly made both amazing due to his incredible knowledge on history, paired with anecdotes, humour and passion for the job - all rooted in what I believe is genuine curiosity. Martin was our guide for the pub tour, and while one could think you would not learn much on a pub tour, Martin shared his extensive knowledge and insights on Dublin and Ireland and we’ve had great conversations with him over some drinks. I cannot recommend Conor, Martin and the Dublin Free Walking Tour enough!

Great free walking tour with Jack. We learnt a lot about the South side and Dublin in general. Really nice walk with a balanced mixture of historical information and fun facts. As we liked the tour a lot, we spontaneously decided to book a beer tasting with them for the same day. Again it exceeded our expectations. This time we and a nice bunch of people were guided by Sam through different pubs and learned interesting stuff about beer and whiskey. As promised this tour was not a pub crawl but an entertaining and informative evening.

We had the most amazing time with our guide Peter! Since we were the only participants this morning, we had a „private“ tour, that was very interesting and fun. Truly unforgettable experience. James was our tour guide and he offered so many fascinating historical details about the north side of Dublin. By sheer happenstance, the day of our tour there was a protest happening right at the Spire where the tour started and he handled it with such calm and grace. He was mindful of the people in the crowds and made sure we were safe at all times. He was super informative and kind. He also made a point of learning the nationalities of everyone in the group and catered certain facts based on that information. Would highly recommend any of these tours!

Emma, who is the interior designer for April & the Bear is simply outstanding. We had a half-completed home and I needed some-one who would work with our existing template to add key pieces of furniture, light fixtures, lamps, soft furnishings etc. She generated an amazing deck of images for each room and listed the cost for each item. This meant we could buy what we needed as we could afford it. But we wanted it all - every item was stunning. Emma works closely with Gary, a carpenter who made the most incredible built-in storage unit and a bespoke corner bench for our dining table that she had designed to fit our space. I am beyond delighted with the end result and so happy with our beautiful home. It was such a seamless and enjoyable process. I cannot recommend Emma and the entire team at April & the Bear more highly.

One of my absolute favorite place for interiors and home bits. Everything we have gotten from A+ B has been a hit and the team are just gorgeous. I love the beautiful understated brass candlesticks as the perfect host gift 🎁

Cutest shop🫶🏼

Amazing customer service. I bought some beautiful mugs online as a Christmas present for a dear friend. When they arrived, to my dismay, two of the mugs were broken. I took pictures and e-mailed customer service. I was given a refund - including the delivery charge - no questions asked. I will be visiting the store in the near future to purchase the mugs in person.

Love this shop. Buy things pretty regularly from the place. A couple of times there was some hiccups with furniture deliveries and within minutes of me contacting them the issues were resolved. Great quality items, quick delivery and excellent customer service.

Cultural center
The Irish Georgian Society plays a pivotal role in preserving and showcasing the rich architectural heritage of Ireland. Nestled just behind Grafton Street, this charming organization has beautifully restored the City Assembly building, which is steeped in history and character. Originally established as a public gallery of modern art by Sir Hugh Lane in 1908, it now features rotating exhibitions that highlight contemporary Irish artists alongside its permanent collection.
Such a pretty place! This has so much knowledge to offer about the Irish Georgian culture. A lot of pictures of the important people and they also have a presentation ongoing to explain the culture. I would recommend this place to visit once for sure!

Love all that this society stands for 🤌🏻 A beautifully restored Georgian building that houses some stunning oil portraits of names you’ll spot all over Dublin. I went to one of their free exhibitions, showcasing old depictions of Dublin from the 1700-1800s

Fine example of historic building conservation and adaptation. Fascinating exhibition by Peter Pearson "Fragments of Dublin". Below my recent photo of the Bottle Tower, and reference to it in his book 'Decorative Dublin'.

Absolutely beautiful- the Lia Laimbock exhibition made the walls sing!

Delightful building, pristinely well kept. Beautiful collections on exhibit at the oldest art gallery. Don't miss spending a good few minutes in the bookshop. Some veritable gems and the most knowledgable and charming Seamus, to make the whole experience truly memorable. Oh, and located in one of the best spots in Dublin. An absolute must if in Dublin and worth coming back every time.

Absolute Georgian gem! In addition, they kindly provided exhibition space for this year's TCDVisArts Society event - which was a complete success!

45Temple Bar Food Market

Market
The Temple Bar Food Market is a vibrant and bustling market located in Dublin's City Centre, open every Saturday from 10AM to 4:30PM. Established in 1997 by Irish farmers and producers, the market offers a wide range of fresh seasonal produce, artisanal cheeses, olives, freshly made hummus and pesto. Visitors can also find delicious cakes, breads, cold meats, nuts, seeds and cereals.
The Temple Bar Food Market is open every Saturday at Meeting House Square (~9:30 to 15:00). After a few years with a lower number of stalls, local independent traders are coming back. They even had live music the last couple of times we went by. Worth trying most things, but definitely the seeded bread from Sourdough Sisters and the organic vegetables from McNally's Family Farm.
Jorge R — Google review
Nothing to write home about. A few stalls, not a real vibrant market like the great ones in London and Germany. Only opens on Saturdays. Think I'll stick to London's great food markets, done properly there 7 days a week.
Carl M — Google review
This market has lot of potential but very few stands, instead looks shabby. I come here as there is a stand with buffalo mozzarella and olives from Italy which is not that bad, there are literally 4/5 stands in a square where you can fit 10/12 I’d say! First of all the coffe stand is horrible! Seriously the coffee taste very bad! Then, the cake place… nothing is fresh there! Nothing, I had a sausage roll paid 4euros (in centra is 1 euro made same day) was so old I was disgusted! The rest is super overpriced, I mean supposed to be a market, markets usually are relatively cheap otherwise I would go in Follon&byrne
Eleonora M — Google review
Great place, went on Saturday great food choices. Enjoyed my day works till 3.30.
Diana S — Google review
not bad, but nothing special. there are about half of a dozen stands (if even that many). one selling produce, one meat, one cheese, a couple of pastries and another for coffee. I did very much enjoy the coffee and pastry I got (from two different vendors). nothing i would go out of the way for, but if in the are it would be very quick for you to swing through.
Jill G — Google review
Not a food market per se, just 5 or 6 stands (and not all of them were selling food to eat there)
Patxi I — Google review
There could have been a lot more food stalls.
Victor S — Google review
I was intrigued to visit this market since I heard a lot about it but never get the chance until few days ago. Besides a couple of stands with mozzarella, cheese and olives, that are not that bad (the stand with cheese allow you to taste some before you buy it), there are few stands more. Nothing special. There is a truck where you can buy a box of meat, which I tried at Merrion Square during the food market there, which is quite good, a stand with cakes, that seems not tasty at all, and a stand with bread. It's a pity because there is space to host other stuff, so it has potential, but it seems wasted.

Additionally, it serves as a platform for international audiences to experience diverse artistic expressions.
Hidden gem on the main street, talented local artists & free admission
Emer A — Google review
Great idea - using empty building while waiting for redevelopment, to house woeking artists. Recommend
Anthony H — Google review
Great gallery space on the main road through Rathmines so easily accessible. Very interesting space that works well for any artwork it seems (I've seen paintings and sculpture and performance art here and it all looked and worked great) plus the people are all really lovely and friendly. Free or very affordable entry, exciting programme. Deffo go🙂

A little underwhelming for a christmas market
Pepijn ( — Google review
Not being used to its full potential could be put to better use with more markets and better visual displays. Building would make a quirky coffee shop or restaurant
Matthew S — Google review
Art venue away from city centre. Hosts more unusual events and up and coming artists.
Louise W — Google review
Not really sure what this is all about... but i suppose it is much better than an empty building at least
Actual C — Google review
Wish the market was more lively. Few tunes...
