The Plains of Abraham is a historic park in Quebec, Canada, known for its pivotal role in the Seven Years' War. This urban park was the site of the famous Battle of Quebec in 1759, where British forces defeated the French. The park features gardens, an ice rink, and Martello Towers with family-friendly activities. Visitors can explore the Museum of the Plains of Abraham to learn about Canada's history through multimedia displays.
I went in late December and it has just snowed I felt like I was in a snow globe I loved it so much I bet it is equally as pretty in the spring or summer time! I do wish thought it was brighter outside as the sun was setting! I did not get to the museum part though I would have liked too!

Wow! Easily one of the most beautiful parks I’ve ever visited. It’s very well-maintained, exquisite views, rolling hills, just lovely. There are also some trails. In the middle of the park there is a theater and a coffee shop that I recommend visiting and enjoying the view. There are also picnic tables throughout. Every time we went it was breezy and so relaxing. The stairs up are no joke. Many different experiences within this marvelous park.
Greta M — Google review
This place is great for relaxation. Perhaps residents of this area come here for walks and picnics. But this is part of Canadian history, and such an interesting one. And the picturesque landscapes and views of the river and city are remembered forever. There are many paid parking lots for cars, and the price is not high.
Dr. B — Google review
A beautiful Park to spend a nice fall afternoon. It is well maintained. It is so spacious everyone had a large open area to themselves. The views of the city are spectacular. Something for everyone in this park. There were individual picnic tables scattered throughout the park. Clean restrooms.
Susan L — Google review
A beautiful area! I only spent a few hours earlier this week wandering around here and the museum, but it's a very lovely location that begs to be explored and experienced more. Lovely views everywhere you look, and it's very well-kept - I don't think I saw even one piece of litter anywhere. It's a treasure that could serve as an example to other cities (ahem, Victoria...!).
Mike H — Google review
Great day, beautiful park. We went to the museum, which was nice. Start on the top and work your way down. Go visit the round fortress. Take the bus ride we had the guy who played Abraham.
Kimberly M — Google review
My favorite spot in Quebec city! Great place to go for a run or picnic. A vast area consisting of parks, museums, easy trails, viewpoints, etc. that was once a battlefield. Not a lot of opportunities to read up on the history of the city, but for a fee, visitors get a tour of the citadel, which is otherwise restricted to public.
Gopika M — Google review
Québec City’s largest urban park—and the site of the famous Battle of the Plains of Abraham—is just across the street. Outside the city walls, to the west of the Citadel, stretches the green expanse known as the Plains of Abraham [also known as Battlefields Park (Parc des Champs-de-Bataille)], where in 1759 the British, led by General Wolfe, fought the French under Montcalm and won. The Battle of Québec (the pivotal moment of the French and Indian War when the French were forced to cede New France to Great Britain) took place here. The park is also home to the remains of two Martello towers, later additions to Québec's fortifications. Begun in the late 1930s, the Joan of Arc Garden designed by Louis Perron has a fabulous display of flowers from spring until fall. it is the perfect place to enjoy some fresh air. While you're sure to see a few historical elements (like the occasional ornamental cannon and defensive towers known as Martello Tower), make sure to pay specific attention to the manicured gardens – don't miss the stunning Joan of Arc Garden – and the riverfront vistas. It’s lovely to see this field on cloudy days. benches are there near Martello Towers, have a seat and admire the beauty of St Lawerence River Battlefields Park is an outdoor recreational site, right in the heart of the city! In the winter, you can go cross-country skiing or snowshoeing along the groomed trails or go skating on the ice ring. In the summer, the park becomes a popular picnic area.

Montmorency Falls, located just a short distance from Quebec City, is an awe-inspiring natural attraction standing at 83 meters tall, even higher than Niagara Falls. Visitors can enjoy various activities year-round, such as hiking in the summer and ice climbing in the winter. The falls are easily accessible by car or bike and offer stunning views from different vantage points including trails, a suspension bridge, and a tram.
What a cool park. You pay an entrance fee, and you have 2 choices to go to the bottom of the falls, walk all the way around the park, over the suspension bridge down this cool set of 478 stairs down to the bottom incredible views all the way through or option number 2. Take the cable car down to see the bottom of the falls. And take the cable car back recommended for people who do not have good mobility. We chose to walk over the bridge and down the stairs to the bottom of the falls, where we saw a rainbow, which was super cool and then took the cable car back up. We saw a lot of people trying to walk back up the stairs. And were heavily winded, so we decided to take the cable car up either way. It's a great day, incredible views front on top of the bridge from the bottom of the right. The falls you can even walk down all the way to the water. Super cool, highly recommended. We will return.
LAND R — Google review
I visited this place in September, a rainy day & public holiday. Paid parking (all day parking). If you pay entry fee, you can visit the falls, boardwalk & long stairs to the top. The boardwalk is very long, atleast 30min walk to the bottom of the falls. Stroller, dogs are allowed on the boardwalk. Has a playground & benches. Kid friendly, dog friendly. Foods are allowed inside. If you want to ride the gondola ,you have to buy another ticket for the ride. You can ride both up & down multiple time for whole day with single gondola ride payment. At the top, there's a party house ,available to rent for private occasion which was under renovation in September; a vegetable garden & a bridge on the falls. You can watch the whole area from the top. It's a must visiting place for tourists in Quebec City. You can spend your whole day with family & friends there. However ,the gift shop isn't enriched with various souvenirs. Many people visit the place, number of washroom is limited. Overall, nice place.
Beku N — Google review
Amazing! You can find free parking on top of the waterfall. Please take a walk on the river ahead of it....are somme amazing million years old rocks on the river. The waterfall make you feel energized and amazed ( the stairs have 480 steps so....maybe a little tire after). Check the Citadel and the downtown as well. A lot of activity and fun! It is an amazing town! Love it!
Petru C — Google review
We went here November, the stairs up to the falls is CLOSED. We walked near the falls then proceeded on going up to the bridge in our car. We parked at the nearby Mcdonalds. Still a good experience! No entry and parking fees during winter.
Milleyjn A — Google review
Absolutely breathtaking! Montmorency Falls is a must-visit if you’re in Québec City — taller than Niagara Falls and just a 15-minute drive from downtown. The suspension bridge offers stunning panoramic views, and you can really feel the power of the falls up close. There are multiple ways to experience it — by taking the cable car, hiking the stairways, or viewing it from the bridge above. The trails are well maintained and perfect for a short scenic walk. If you visit in fall, the colors make the landscape even more magical. Parking is around $12, and you can easily spend 1–2 hours here exploring and taking photos. Definitely worth the stop — especially for photographers and nature lovers!
Nafiz I — Google review
The waterfall is really beautiful, but the view is a bit spoiled by the bridge and zipline. I wish it looked more natural. The suspension bridge isn’t really “suspending” it doesn’t move at all, it’s very solid. Overall, it was still a nice experience and definitely worth visiting once!
Maryam F — Google review
This is a really great attraction spot! There’s a park, trail, falls and a suspension bridge. You can buy tickets for a lift if you don’t want to take the stairs, beautiful viewpoints along the way up.

Spent about 4 hours here today. Beautiful and peaceful. Lots of great photo spots. Ride the cable car. Walk the stairs. Check all the paths and views. Wonderful way to spend a morning in nature.

Shopping mall
Nestled in the old ports district, Quartier Petit Champlain is a cooperative-owned shopping quarter featuring independent boutiques, galleries, restaurants, and a theater. This historic area is renowned as the oldest commercial district in North America and has been a hub for craftsmen, merchants, and artists for generations. The pedestrian-only streets are popular year-round, offering a charming atmosphere with snow-capped structures during the ski season and authentic French restaurants serving local delicacies and ice wine.
Honestly very nice. Never realized that place was there until our first night. The drive there is beautiful, the water, boats, the people being outside and enjoying the day. It’s not a very big place, but the scenery and good little restaurants make it worth it. From there you can go up and visit the chateau Frontenac.

Have you ever really visited Québec if you didn't wander around quartier petit champlain? It's just, Wow! A dreamy quartier , so vibrant , the small artisan shops blew my mind. I enjoyed every minute.
Asma G — Google review
Amazing neighborhood to spend a good amount of time. Each little shop has its own magic, its own history. Just nice to walk around, grab a meal, buy some souvenirs, and take bunch of pictures.
Diana V — Google review
Do not bother comparing to Paris. Which a lot of people come expecting. It's nice in its way. Small local shops with expensive stuff. Expensive food. A very small lane honestly. A couple of good things though. A funicular that takes you up and down to the Hotel for 5$. The port is nearby. A couple of murals and churches are nearby. The museum is close by. Everything at a walkable distance. One of the oldest staircases in North America is there. If you are keen on history. It's a good place to be. Very touristy. Have a good jolly time. Take some pictures. Have food. Go home. Walk if you want. Or cycle around. Its chill
Robin G — Google review
A must visit on your trip to old QC City, amazing location of shops and restos, its get hot so wear sun protection and find shade when you can, this place is as equally amazing in winter, but its very cold in winter!!! Still beautiful :). Weekends they offer entertainment during summer days usually starting around father's day.

Notre-Dame de Québec Basilica-Cathedral, dating back to 1647, has undergone several reconstructions and boasts a historic crypt. The cathedral's rich history is reflected in its opulent interior adorned with impressive works of art, including an Episcopal throne canopy, stained glass, paintings, sculptures, and a sanctuary lamp from Louis XIV. The site also houses the tombs of governors of New France and many bishops of Quebec City.
July 2025. Beautiful cathedral. Uniquely decorated altar (that I've seen). We were sad to see that the holy door wasn't open.
Patrick V — Google review
It’s a beautiful cathedral, but if you’ve visited some of the grand cathedrals in Europe, it might not feel as impressive in comparison. That said, it’s still a must-visit when you’re in Montréal. Tickets are $16, which feels a bit pricey. The square in front of the cathedral is especially charming in the evening, often filled with live music and street performers. It’s a lively and memorable spot to soak in the city’s vibe.
Lily R — Google review
Visiting the Notre-Dame de Québec Basilica-Cathedral in Old Quebec City was one of the most peaceful and inspiring experiences of our trip. The moment you step inside, you’re surrounded by an overwhelming sense of history, faith, and beauty. The architecture is breathtaking — every detail, from the ornate gold altar to the intricate stained-glass windows, tells a story of centuries past. It’s incredible to think that this is one of the oldest cathedrals in North America, and yet it has been so beautifully preserved. The quiet reverence inside contrasts perfectly with the lively charm of Old Quebec just outside, making it a wonderful spot for reflection and calm.
Aastha S — Google review
My husband and I didn't think we would see a church in North America that would rival those in the United Kingdom. This Bassilica is awesome inspiring and spiritual. We highly recommend that you stop in.
Heather B — Google review
Beautiful church. We parked nearby. Near everything in old quebec. Had small chapels, a bit of history and a Holy Door. I was a bit disappointed with tye door being closed. We came from Toronto after seeing someone post a photo of the door open. But the person at the gift shop said it isn't open despite being the Jubilee. But the church was clean, Beautiful stain glass windows, amazing architecture, definitely pop in if you can.
Susanna P — Google review
The Notre Dame of Quebec City is an Ornate and historic Basilica with a majestic altar covered in gold. The tomb of Francois de Laval is located here and a museum dedicated to his mission is located in the back part of the Basilica . Worth stepping in and spending some time inside .
Michael A — Google review
This is a beautiful church with a lot of history. When you enter, you sense the centuries of prayer that have occurred there. The sanctuary evokes a spirituality that makes you want to linger. We also visited the crypt where bishops and archbishops from the founding of the church were buried. The guide mentioned that there are over 900 people are interned in the crypt.
Michael G — Google review
Construction Scaffolding on the exterior. The inside was gorgeous and majestic like nothing I've ever seen. No entry fee, only 10 or so other people present. Quiet and reverential. Such beautiful statuary, ornamentation, stained glass windows. Very moving. They ask for $2 or $5 to light a candle, the cost to replace the candle.

Dufferin Terrace, also known as Terrasse Dufferin, is a historic wooden boardwalk built in 1859 that offers stunning views of the Saint Lawrence River, Chateau Frontenac, and the Citadel of Quebec. It is a popular spot for both locals and tourists to enjoy leisurely strolls while taking in panoramic city views. In the winter, visitors can experience the famous Terrasse Dufferin Slides toboggan run during the Quebec Winter Carnival.
Undoubtedly the main tourist attraction in Old Quebec City. Whether it’s enjoying the scenic views of the Lower Town, gazing over the St. Lawrence River, admiring the architecture of Château Frontenac, enjoying the cool breeze, watching live performances by local artists, or simply spending time with your loved ones, this historic public space offers it all. We stayed at a nearby hotel and spent all our evenings and a couple of early mornings here.
Amartya G — Google review
The vibes at Dufferin Terrace were incredible. The views were stunning, and the Fairmont hotel looked absolutely beautiful in the background. A street performer was playing music adding the perfect romantic touch to the atmosphere. It felt genuinely special just being there.

The Dufferin Terrace is the perfect spot to soak up the natural beauty of Quebec City, with its stunning views of the St. Lawrence River and surrounding area – it's a wonderful place to visit, no matter the season! Come and take a leisurely walk while enjoying the breathtaking view of the St. Lawrence River, the longest river in the world! Governor General Dufferin's eponymous terrace has 'stepped up' as a favourite haunt for tourists and locals, offering a tranquil oasis in the heart of the city since its public debut in 1838. For over a hundred years, this wooden promenade has been the heartbeat of entertainment – hosting musicians and street performers in the summer and transforming into a snowy playground for the fearless toboggan enthusiasts come winter. Dufferin Terrace is the crown jewel of observation spots, offering a regal view of the Château Frontenac, the St. Lawrence River, and the surrounding landscape. It's the perfect place to snap a royal photo! You can also board the funicular here to explore the charming rue du Petit-Champlain in Lower Town. During the summer, the terrace is also a fantastic spot to enjoy the fireworks displays! Located beneath the Terrace, the ruins of Forts-et-Châteaux-Saint-Louis, a National Historic Site of Parks Canada, have been open to visitors for several years, offering a glimpse into the site's rich history as the governor's residence for over 200 years. The Dufferin Terrace is the 'height' of popularity, and for good reason – its stunning view is a major draw for residents and tourists alike!
Goody C — Google review
A must-visit promenade in Old Québec! Dufferin Terrace offers some of the best views of the St. Lawrence River and the iconic Château Frontenac. The wooden boardwalk is perfect for a leisurely stroll. Street performers, musicians, and artists often add to the lively atmosphere, and there are benches along the way to sit and enjoy the view. In winter, it transforms into a charming snowy walkway with a toboggan slide nearby! A perfect spot for photos, people-watching, or simply soaking in the charm of Old Québec.

The Citadelle of Québec is a historic complex that includes an active fort, a museum, and the traditional Changing of the Guard ceremony. However, during certain times of the year, this ceremony is replaced by a musical performance by the Royal 22nd Regiment Band. The citadel has been an important part of Quebec's history since it was rebuilt by the British in the 19th century.
Great History! A must visit place. The place itself is so beautifully preserved and maintained. The paid tour is so informative and the tour guide did a great job and answered all questions. The guards change is a masterpiece to watch and enjoy their band music.Got to see the great views of st Lawrence river!

Must seen. Amazing historical site. Its an active military zone so you will need to go with a tour guide. Tours are available both in french and English for one hour. We took the English tour. The tour guy, Oliver, was funny and friendly. He guided us through several buildings, provided info and let us took loads of photos and videos. Highly recommended

Must visit place while in the Quebec area. Historic 19th-century fortress still in active military use. Home of the Royal 22 Regiment. Guided tours are highly recommended and praised for being informative and engaging (tour guides are very informative). Changing of the Guard ceremony is a must see. Panoramic views of Québec City and the St. Lawrence River from the top Pros: Great guided tours, Scenic location Cons: Limited self-guided access and tickets may run out very quickly, vehicle parking can be tricky due to the narrow roads and limited space Highly recommend visitors to book tours ahead and wear comfortable shoes. ( note that the tour is offered in French and English)

A very well worth experience to visit the Citadel of Quebec . Book tickets in advance for the tour . We did the English speaking tour and it was very well paced and informative . Our guide explained every stop on the tour with details and answered all our questions. The tour lasts approximately one hour and makes stops along the various buildings and places of the Citadel. Breathtaking views of Quebec City despite being a cloudy fall day . Make sure you end your tour at the well maintained and highly educational museum indoors . It covers a historical span of the 22 regiment throughout the years up until recent times.

Great place to visit for a quick guided tour which is an hour long. It’s a historical place and still an active military site. Has some good views of the Fairmont Hotel and the river. It’s about $22 to visit. The change of the guards only happens between may/june and September.

Really nice place to visit. The staff are friendly and very informative. They explain everything clearly and are happy to answer questions. The guards were interesting to watch and made the visit more engaging. The museum has some recent military items too, not just old history, which was a nice surprise. Worth checking out if you are in Quebec City.

Very interesting one-hour tour. Great history lesson, with gorgeous views from an elevated position. Definitely recommend!

Interesting buildings, changing of the guards was neat to see, there's a canon fired off at noon, and some neat exhibits, you do need a guide and can't explore by yourself as it's still an active base. Our guide was very good but the tour itself is a bit short as there's several going on at the same time, more time to explore would have been nice.

Visited here in a Sunday afternoon as tourists, the super kind reception man guided us to buy tickets online then guide us through. We climbed 31 stories to the top with elevator and There was a lady up there waiting for us who told us how to enjoy the whole facility before we start our visit. We found a nice 360 view of the quebec. It was a very informative tour and two nice exhibitions about the quebec and its history.

A must visit for tourists & Tallahasians alike!! The Tallahassee Observatory is a great place to view the city from 22 stories up. My kids loved pointing out all of the landmarks that we could see ranging from Cascade Park to The Hyatt Hotel to our own thrift store Savvy Salvage down in Railroad Square Art Park!!! Btw, it's free❤️

Strange setup. Can't buy tickets on site, only online. Nobody in the lobby at all. Then you self host yourself up the elevator, where there is staff waiting and they sit everyone down and give an overview instead of just letting folks explore. The views are okay.

An unexpected surprise for us when we visited Quebec City. Maybe not the tallest building for such an observation view but the views and stories that are scattered around are truly amazing. Ticketing could be easier but it was workable. An easy walk from the old town and a very pleasant walk back via the Governors Promenade made for a great day.

The Musée national des beaux-arts du Québec, located on the vibrant Grand Allee, is a neoclassical museum with a modern wing designed by renowned architects Rem Koolhaas and Shohei Shigematsu. The Lassonde Pavilion, added in 2016, showcases a remarkable collection of 22,000 traditional and contemporary Quebec art pieces.
Wonderful venue filled with interesting art. The collection isn't huge, but there's a lot of variety and interesting pieces. The best bathrooms are in the basement. 🙂 Take the elevator to the third floor and come down from there. The elevator is a treat in itself. It's the biggest elevator car I've ever seen. The doors are epic! Lol

I decided to visit the Art Museum during my stay in Quebec. I genuinely thought it would be a similar experience to visiting museums in Florence and Rome, Italy. However, I was thoroughly disappointed by what they now call “art.” Here, you be the judge. I’ll post pictures so you can form your own opinion, but as for me, I strongly advise against it. Save your money and time.

This is one of the most incredible museums I’ve ever visited. The Niki de Saint Phalle exhibit was purely breathtaking and one of the best exhibits I’ve ever seen. The upper floors have plenty to offer as well, but that first floor exhibit was something else.

The Helen McNicol exhibition is outstanding. This was my first exposure to her art and it's beautiful and thought provoking. The curators have done an excellent job in the layout and design of the exhibition. The third floor of Inuit art was fascinating, found the espace collection sadly wanting, but still found enough to see and think about for a four hour visit.

A stunning and historic landmark in the heart of Québec City! 🇨🇦🏛️ We had a wonderful time visiting the Québec Parliament Building! The architecture is absolutely beautiful — elegant, detailed, and rich with history. The gardens and fountains surrounding the building make it a lovely place to stroll and take photos, especially on a sunny day. We joined a guided tour inside, and it was both informative and fascinating. The staff were friendly and knowledgeable, explaining the history, art, and significance of the Québec government in an engaging way. Even if you’re not into politics, it’s worth visiting just to appreciate the craftsmanship and the sense of heritage that fills the halls. The area around the Parliament is also very walkable, with cafés, parks, and Old Québec just a short distance away. The Fortifications of Québec National Historic Site is a remarkable example of seventeenth-century military architecture and played a crucial role in defending the colony against sieges by the French and Americans. These sturdy ramparts, gates, and towers have been expanded and improved over the centuries, now stretching almost three miles around Old Quebec. As the only remaining city walls in North America outside of Mexico, they are an important part of Canada's history and are well-preserved for visitors to explore.
The Fortifications de Québec National Historic Site is one of the most significant pieces of Québec City’s history. Walk through the gates and upon the ramparts and take in the gorgeous views of Old Québec. The only fortified city north of Mexico, one cannot visit Québec City without admiring the fortified walls and ramparts which were the city’s defensive system built between 1608 and 1871. Today, the fortifications of Québec consist of 4 gates, 3 Martello towers, the Citadelle, and 4.6 km of ramparts, complete with cannons, which encircle Old Québec’s upper town. In the more than 300 years of its history, Québec has come to possess a variety of fortifications, all of which can be explored on an hour-long circular walk. The bastions, walls, towers, gates, and countless old cannons show how well the former French colony was protected. the four and a half kilometers of defensive ramparts on the west flank of the Old City were constructed of granite and sand, the only fortifications of this kind in North America. Numerous pieces of weaponry are a constant reminder of Québec's troubled past. There are 4 gates in this fortification (enter /exit from upper Quebec) 1. St. Jean Gate 2. Kent Gate 3. Prescott Gate 4. St Louis Gate

Notre-Dame-des-Victoires Catholic Church is a historic stone church in Quebec City, dedicated to St. Genevieve and boasting a rich history dating back to 1688. Notre-Dame-des-Victoires in Quebec City is a hidden gem of history and serenity! This petite stone church, the oldest in North America, sits on Place Royale in the Lower Town’s Old Quebec, built in 1688 atop Samuel de Champlain’s original outpost ruins. Renamed for French victories over British fleets in 1690 and 1711, its cozy interior dazzles with 18th-century paintings, gilded altars, and a suspended 17th-century ship model evoking New France’s seafaring past. A quick, peaceful visit amid cobblestone charm and nearby frescoes—perfect for soaking in UNESCO vibes. Free entry, timeless magic!

A small but deeply historic gem in Old Québec! Église Notre-Dame-des-Victoires is one of the oldest stone churches in North America, dating back to the 1600s. Located right in the heart of Place Royale, it’s surrounded by charming cobblestone streets and classic Québec architecture. The church interior is simple yet beautiful, filled with history and peaceful energy. You can often step inside for a quiet moment of reflection or to admire the traditional wooden altar and stained-glass windows. It’s a quick visit, but one that captures the spirit and history of Old Québec perfectly. Definitely worth stopping by while exploring the lower town.

We passed by Église Notre-Dame-des-Victoires during our walk around Old Quebec. Unfortunately, it was closed when we were there, so we couldn’t go inside. Still, even from the outside, it looked beautiful. The stone building has so much character and history, and it really stands out in the middle of Place Royale. It’s one of those places that makes you stop and take a moment just to look at it. Hopefully next time we visit, we’ll be able to go inside and see it properly.

Church Construction of Notre-Dame-des-Victoires Church began in 1688, making it one of North America's oldest churches. It was built on the ruins of Samuel de Champlain’s first home. Unfortunately, bombardments damaged it during the Battle of Québec but was rebuilt according to the original plans in 1763. The church was originally dedicated to the Infant Jesus, but after two successive political victories, the name Notre-Dame-des-Victoires came to commemorate them. this whole square with the church in the background - looks very beautiful and feels like you are in some European city Time: it's not open for visitors, A service is still held there every Sunday at 11 AM, and at that time, visitors are welcome. Restroom: if you need one, there is a very clean and spacious restroom right there at the square. Just beside the cafe [Café La Maison Smith Notre-Dame], it's there. see attached photo.

Located in the Ste-Foy sector of Quebec City, the Aquarium of Quebec offers a captivating experience for nature enthusiasts. With both indoor and outdoor spaces, visitors can explore approximately 10,000 animals, including fish, marine mammals, and amphibians. The outdoor area features paths through a wetlands ecosystem with close-up views of aquatic plants, birds, amphibians, insects, and reptiles. Additionally, harbor seals can be observed overlooking the St.
One of the popular go to places in the capitol region, this facility houses polar bears, artic foxes, plenty of fish from sea and lakes, owls, rays, seahorses, jellyfishes. They also have plenty of info and educational session, videos and activities. It took me 2 hours to visit almost all locations, no break, and enjoy some of this beautiful animal, specially the polar bear. Would recommend 2.5 to 3 hours to slow down and read all fun facts. Parking is free in this non-free parking city, so the admission is cost efficient. Highly recommend. Some of my pictures shown, which cant fully justify or show the true beauty.
Mugdho A — Google review
A reasonably nice aquarium to visit - perhaps more family/child oriented than average. The interior exhibits were pretty good. The polar bear exhibit was more expansive and interesting. The seal enclosures seemed small and empty. Difficult to get to without a car, especially as the current construction in the area seems to confuse local taxis. Probably not worth it to visit unless you have a car and kids (or a lot of time to kill).
Sarah G — Google review
Great place for kids. Not only is it educational, they also had a lot of playgrounds for kids to get their wiggles out. There are naturalists who give talks about the various animals and that is really appreciated. Most displays are fine. It's not the fanciest aquarium I've ever seen, but it's decent. Unfortunately there was a mess with construction at the parking lot and on top of that a very large section of the aquarium was closed for renovation. Maybe once these two projects are finished, this will be a 5-star site.
Michael M — Google review
Better than Ripley’s Aquarium. This aquarium provides great views of aquatic organisms such as seahorse, fish, stingrays, and shark I think. Would highly recommend for tourists because you get to touch stingrays which is cool and very amazing experience. I didn’t know stingrays were that soft. It’s like baby skin?
Max N — Google review
It is a small but lovely aquarium. Indoor and outdoor areas to visit. The polar bear is so fun to see, especially when they are active - worth the walk, and even with the construction going on. The place is clean and generally well maintained. Visited one restroom which was uncomfortably warm. We will definitely visit again, if we are vacationing in the area.
Shelley S — Google review
The Aquarium of Quebec was amazing! We saw jellyfish, stingrays (you can even touch them, which is super fun!), and three polar bears that were very active around 10 a.m.—playing and moving around a lot, so that seems like a great time to visit. The aquarium was partly under construction, which made it a little harder to walk through in some areas, but it was totally worth it. Everything was beautiful, clean, and well maintained. It took us about an hour and a half to see everything, and it completely met our expectations. A great experience overall—highly recommended for families or anyone who enjoys marine and Arctic animals! 👏🐻‍❄️🐠

We absolutely loved the aquarium, we spent 2 1/2 hours there we took our time and we enjoyed everything about it. We thought it was very well organized, and we loved the Bears, the seals, the owls the jellyfish and truly everything about our visit. We highly recommend it.

We spent a good part of the morning at the aquarium and had lunch at the restaurant inside the compound. It was a great experience, especially with a 19 month old. There's a bit of construction happening, expansion i would assume. Parking spaces are being upgraded with electric charging etc. The staff was friendly and spoke English as well. Apart from the construction noises, it was a great. It is stroller friendly minus a few steps inside some buildings. Lots of parking available as well. Cheers!

The Morrin Centre, located in Quebec City, is a historic landmark that was originally built as the city's first prison in 1808. Today, it houses the Literary and Historical Society of Quebec and features a vast English-language library with over 20,000 books, archives, manuscripts, films, artifacts, and decorative items related to English families of Quebec City.
This is my second time in QC, and I have taken the discovery tour on both occasions where I learn something new each time (granted the first time I took it was in 2015). This is the part of history that you shouldn’t miss out. The tour is fair priced.

Marvin M — Google review
The library is absolutely beautiful! That said, the staff is atrociously loud. I wanted to sit and read in the library, but unfortunately couldn't peacefully do so as the staff spoke incredibly loudly and at length about every aspect of their mundane personal lives. Their noisy and unending banter filled every corner of the library, disrespecting every beautiful inch of the space. This historic library deserves a much better staff. It's absolutely not worth the cost of admission; if the Morrin Centre can't respect the integrity of the space, they don't deserve to be supported. Please visit one of the public libraries instead! There's a very beautiful one right across the street and that's both free and operated by a staff that respects the space.
Sagar S — Google review
This was an unexpected piece of history that reddit recommended to me. It used to be a prison, and then a college, and now it houses an extensive library and cultural/literature center. It is still ran by a nonprofit that is funded entirely by donations/philanthropy. You can get a guided tour of the old prison cells and college chemistry lab, along with a history lesson as part of a tour. You can also just relax and read a book in the library. The special part of the entire experience for me was that everything we saw and touched and even used is original. Especially in the library, the chairs are all original, the bookshelves, the flooring, all of it. It's extremely rare to find someplace where we can not only see and interact, but actually use the originals that have existed for decades. I'm happy they put that trust in visitors, and if you visit, please respect that privilege.

The park also features cable cars, zip lines over the waterfall, and via ferrata circuits for adventurous souls. I went at the end of December. Water was frozen and part of the waterfall, too. It's a beautiful place. Perfect for pictures. Gorgeous views. You can walk and get close to the bottom of the waterfall. We went down in the cable car, and you can use it to go up and down as many times as you want for a fee. There is a little gift shop with a coffee shop and snacks. On the top, you can walk across the suspension bridge, which is directly over the falls and take in the scenery.

Visited Parc de la Chute Montmorency on December 23rd, 2024. We arrived on a Monday and found that it wasn’t overcrowded, which was nice for a more peaceful experience. Unfortunately, the main service office was closed, meaning all activities and services were unavailable during our visit. Despite that, we were still able to walk around and explore the park, passing by the blocked areas like everyone else. The waterfall itself is stunning, and the surrounding scenery is absolutely beautiful, even in the winter. I’d definitely recommend visiting during the spring or summer to enjoy all the activities, but even in December, it’s worth seeing the breathtaking views. A great spot to explore if you’re in the Quebec City area!

This is a great tourist attraction. The water fall is amazing to watch. There are several different areas to observe the falls from. There is a fair amount of walking. There are some optional areas you may visit that do require lots of stair climbing. Nice park for the kiddos nearby.

This is a full 5 plus. It's an incredible waterfall that is higher than Niagara falls. You can walk up to the top or take the cable car Either way the view is spectacular. There water going over the falls can fill an Olympic size pool every second! Another not to be missed sight/site in the Quebec city area .

Parc de la Chute-Montmorency is an ideal spot for nature lovers and photography enthusiasts. Went on a Saturday afternoon, the park was crowded (weekends, between 10:30-2:00pm seems like the peak times), I recommend visiting early during weekdays and book tickets ahead of time. Buying your ticket on the spot will be a hassle since the visitor’s center is crazy busy. The highlight of our visit is the 83-meter-high waterfall, we also enjoyed the stunning views from different vantage points, the suspension bridge, inside the restaurant and the cable car. The trail behind the restaurant is well maintained although there seems to be an off-putting smell close to the vending machines. Access to get in to the cable car takes time, so bring loads of your patience and if you have kids in tow, make sure to bring sunscreens, umbrella and water to stay hydrated! It can get crazy hot lining up during the summer. Parking lot is busy on weekends. But there are 2 parking lots available to access the park.

Great place to visit and spend a Day in summer, dont use the tope car, take the Stairs, enjoy the views. The glass bridge in front of falls is a nice addition to read a book.

Amazing view. You can walk on top of the waterfalls. It’s truly a great place to visit. Best thing is that they made it wheelchair accessible ♿️. The walking path is more than wide enough and they have elevators. You can take a panoramic gondola 🚠, drive, hike, or climb 🧗 Up there there’s a restaurant (closed when I visited), clean bathrooms, and a store with snacks, drinks, and souvenirs. They have a coffee/hot chocolate machine.
Yara K — Google review
The falls are very close to Québec City and are perfect to visit on a beautiful sunny day. I’ve been there a few times, and I always enjoy seeing the falls and walking along the trail behind them. There are quite a few stairs to climb if you start from the bottom and want to experience the falls up close, even getting a little wet from the water spray. However, you can also drive directly to the top, which is more manageable.

Nestled in the heart of Old Quebec, the Museum of Civilization stands as a vibrant testament to human history and culture. Overlooking the picturesque port, this architectural marvel designed by Moshe Safdie invites visitors to delve into both ancient and contemporary societies. Its permanent exhibition, "This is Story," highlights the rich heritage of Indigenous nations in Quebec, showcasing an impressive array of artifacts that celebrate their traditions and contributions.
Amazing experience! There was a free show for kids! Loved it! Titanic exhibit was so worth it and must watch. It’s for a very limited time. “ This is our story” exhibit about the Indigenous people was good and sad at the same time. There was another exhibit on one of the refugees which was deeply moving & made me grateful and appreciative of what I have, which we forget at times. This is #1 museum of all museums that I have visited. There’s a free guided tour in English and French for some of the exhibits. The staff are very friendly and helpful. The personal audio guide is a great way of going through some of the exhibits and helps in really feeling and understanding the work. I loved my experience in this museum. My 9 year old loved it too. Totally recommend a visit to this museum!

The Titanic exhibition was on here. Very interesting exhibit with personal headphones for the audio. In addition to science exhibits they have one on Quebec's history and another one on the indigenous Peoples of Quebec. Boutiques and restaurants inside plus seating for eating. Great for kids.

We came here in April 2025 and my 8 year old loved it as did we. I was a little bummed out that the wrestling exhibit had ended up the inventions part was very cool and unique. We also loved the history of Quebec part and all the animals. There's also a pretty epic gift shop on the premise in a awesome historical building. Definitely check this museum out if you're in Quebec City. 5/5 ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

An amazing place to visit! So different than other museums, yet so interesting! In “This is our story” section, it manages to communicate what is a Quebec resident: un Quebecois! A story of diversity, solidarity, a moving experience! Despite its small size, it seems huge. It a real experience!

I went to see the Titanic exhibit. Very well done and so interesting. The had letters from people who received after the ship sank. They has some relics had been salvaged. Also full recreations of state rooms. I was there 2 hrs just for that. Wandered alittles after , a very good museum I thoroughly enjoyed. plus I am partially disabled and entry was free.

I wanted to buy tickets online, but this place is free to Quebec residents on the first sunday of the month so I had to buy on site. The wait was quite long - around 15 minutes. However, this museum is phenomenal! I bought the ticket that included the titanic exhibit (temporary exhibit) and wow, it was so worth it! I spent like 1.5 hours in there! The Crowd exhibit was also worth it! Very interesting take on crowds. I didn’t get to see the rest of the exhibits since time was short! I would recommend a whole day here! Tickets were $25 for me! I heard if you bought it online you can get $3 off!

The Battlefields Park, also known as Parc des Champs-de-Bataille, spans 267 acres and was the site of a significant battle between French and British forces in 1759. The park features public meadows, trees, and monuments commemorating the historic clash. Today, it serves as a popular public park with open green spaces used for various events and concerts. Visitors can enjoy picnics, recreational areas, and stunning views of the St.
Dec2024 The whole Battlefields Park which encompasses not only one of the largest accessible green spaces in the city but also is geographically connected to a number of military installations and monuments takes on a sombre and profound aspect when covered beneath a blanket of snow. Truly beautiful and also keenly stark. Be prepared and careful crossing the frigid and slippery landscape during winter.

Wonderful walk through history - but has great hiking and walking trails through the woods as well. Nice pavilions and fountains. This is where the Battle of the Plains of Abraham took place and the British took over Quebec from the French in the 1750's. The trails here lead down to the Citadel and old Wall in Old Quebec city. Wonderful green space - and make sure you check out the museum at the end of the park!

Huge park right outside the old city - super close, well maintained with lots of areas with different bits and pieces to see and do, plus it's a big historical site which makes it even more interesting. Art galleries, gardens, the nature walk and more make it an easy place to spend a day.

Had a great day walking though this park. It is big so of you plan on walking to the end or will take 2-3 hours and about 7kms. We used the restrooms at the Rotunda in they middle of the park. There are also restrooms at the top of the governers promenade. We went in early autumn and there wasn't any cafe open so bring water and snacks. The views are amazing from the location! You can start your walk from the promenade in front of chateaux frontenac. Oh, and there is a nice nature trail on the east side of the park to walk along back from the south end to the north.
Matthew T — Google review
The park is enormous. It spans a huge distance and had tons of historical pit stops. Lots of grassy areas to sit and play and picnic. I would say though there are two huge downfalls: 1. The paths are terrible... we had a stroller and there would often be crosswalks that did not dip down ti allow the stroller to pass easily. We had to off road. 2. The actual trails, paths, locations of different landmarks and how to get there...non existent. You have to use Google maps or wander. It is not easy nor obviois how to get everywhere. You would think with all the obvious money the government invests in Quebec City that they would improve the accessibility of their main park...

Carnaval de Québec, also known as the Quebec Winter Carnival, is a beloved tradition that has been celebrated for over 60 years. This annual event takes place over three weekends in January and February, offering a wide array of activities such as sports, family-friendly events, and vibrant celebrations. The festival features night parades, giant games, gourmet experiences, and colorful challenges that light up Quebec City.
We really enjoyed our weekend. Lots to do and see. Some really nice activities, ice and snow sculptures and shops and restaurants. We spent the weekend there and had a great time. We recommend it at least once.

All I can say what a lunch bag let down! We travelled all the way from Ontario to experience Carnival 2025 and were so disappointed. You would think Bonhomme could at least show up to the areas of Carnival. We waited well over 1 hr for the ice castle. The walking distance between venues is a lot. I cannot believe they didn’t even make traditional maple taffy in snow! The night time parade was ok, Bonhomme was there, but to get bleacher seats was $79 for 1 hour parade. I had always wanted to go to this Carnival and left feeling unimpressed. More signage required for visitors.
Kendra K — Google review
Not sure what all the riff raff is about. I have to disagree with a lot of the negative reviews here. Carnaval was honestly one of the best experiences of my entire life. It was everything I wanted, and expected it to be. My girlfriend and I went on the last weekend of the festival. There was so much to do and see. My advice for those considering coming that don’t want to be disappointed at their own fault like some shown here, my advice would be the following: PREPARE. 1. Research the history of carnaval, and what it means to the city of Quebec. You’ll have a much deeper appreciation for it going there. 2. Look deep into the actual website inside and out so you know what to expect. The FAQs, what’s happening this year, what your effigies get you and don’t get you, know everything before you get there. 3. Carnival is one of those events where you truly get what you pay for. The more you spend, the more you get out of it! Invest prior to going. I highly suggest you spend the extra couple bucks and get a VIP effigy. You’ll get a bunch of coupons you can use to redeem all kinds of free stuff. When we went, we got free souvenirs, maple taffy, drinks etc. along with a bunch of other perks. You’re going to spend more than the difference there anyway. I would also get vip passes for the parade as well. Being able to sit down and be fed free drinks for an hour before the parade is quite nice, haha! At the very least I would highly recommend those two, everything else is up to you, but do as much as you can! The more the merrier. We also went to the nuit blanche Pajama party, which if you’re a young adult like me, you should definitely go. So fun! 4. Dress warm! It is freezing, and there is a good chance the snow will be pouring down like no tomorrow. Layer up. balaclava, snow pants, hat, gloves, everything you’d wear on a ski trip, bring it to carnaval. There’s a 99% chance you’ll have to wait in line to do anything, which is common for any popular event, so this is crucial. But use the time to socialize with those around you! It makes the time fly by. You’ll thank me later. 5. Getting to the event is tricky. Especially if the weather is bad. Our hotel was about 7 mins away, and we were drinking the whole time so Uber was our best friend. But because of how busy it was down town, wait times were long for getting a ride. If you’re driving, definitely find a public parking place in advance, multiple ideally. 6. Grab a schedule / program as soon as you get there. There is more than meets the eye in terms of things to do at carnaval. It has a bunch of scheduled stuff on there happening throughout the day ie photos with bonhomme, musicals, live events etc. Go and see it for yourself. Everyone has their own wants and needs for stuff like this, but I recommend everyone goes and experiences it at least once. Myself on the other hand, I’ll be back from now on every single year. Joyeux Carnaval!!!!
Justin W — Google review
This is a once-in-a-lifetime adventure!!! Just a heads up, parking can be tricky and it’s really chilly out there!!! The entry fee is $39 for adults, but kids under 12 can get in for free.
Myhome P — Google review
Intricate ice sculptures, amazing designs within Garden of sculptures as well as the ice castle. It’s become very commercialized and lines get long but if you just expect it, you can enjoy music and sights while you wait. Fun music, happy people and cocktails in ice blocks. Try the toboggan and ice skating ⛸️
Bray W — Google review
I would give zero if I could but… We drove all the way from Toronto to Quebec City, excited for the Winter Carnival, and even booked our stay at the Hilton Quebec to be in the heart of the action. What a mistake. This so-called “carnival” is nothing but a joke. There are only two small areas with an ice slide and a few sculpture activities —nothing remotely close to what you’d expect from a world-famous winter festival. And guess what? You have to pay an additional fee (around $140 for a family) just to participate in making sculpture ! The Effigy pass, which is supposed to grant access, doesn’t cover it. Then we heard about another activity area called Gougoune et Doudoune. Sounds great, right? Except no one—NOT the hotel concierge, NOT the locals—could tell us where to find the shuttles to get there or where it is located . We spent an hour and a half walking in the freezing cold just to find the tourist information center. Even they admitted the carnival was underwhelming and lacked proper organization. Though they did their best to help us, it wasn’t their fault. When we finally found Gougoune et Doudoune (after another 20 minutes of walking), we couldn’t believe what we saw. A tiny snow tubing area, some oversized card games, a ball pit, climbing sculpture and a little race thingy—things you could easily find in a neighborhood park. And of course, the Effigy didn’t cover this either, so we had to pay again for both adults and kids. I have to say this as well there were only few people. We could count number of people there. So please do not call it a carnival. We had more kids in my street than the entire carnival This event was a complete scam—wasting people’s time, money, and excitement. The organizers should be ashamed for putting on something this poorly planned, misleading families into thinking they’re coming to a real winter festival. My 11-year-old was beyond disappointed, and so were we. Never again.( I will add pictures later)
Gazelle M — Google review
went today Feb 9th 2025: everything has to paid; everything!! 5.50$ for a maple syrup popsicle stick! 143$ for sculpting in ice for 2 to 4 people on a 12" x 12" block. you have to pay 44$ per person above 13 just to see ice sculptures or any activities. had to pay 15$ parking. so if you plan to go for a couple of hours and live in a far city, do not bother bcs it will cost you 170$ for 4 to see things. note we did that same exact activities in our local city of 6K people and all was FREE and they had more activities! they just gave a huge middle finger to poor family: they are not welcomed here. get this: they have so many sponsors! and the workers are VOLUNTEERS yet have these outrageous prices? we can afford it but abusing people is NOT OK! this used to be a "welcome all" family activity. now this is a RICH ONLY activity. SHAME ON YOU to charge that much and ignore the poor families. will NEVER GO BACK! they only care about profits.
Mart R — Google review
On the 70th anniversary, they pushed back all the events by a whole weekend, "extending it by a week," ruined my birthday vacation as this was basically the whole reason we went to Quebec we were not able to get our effigys wither as the offices were closed. The only reason I put 2 stars is that it was quite nice when we came a few years ago. This time, however, I wish we were communicated with in some way

Place D’Youville is a public square in the core of Quebec City, Quebec, Canada. It is situated on rue Saint-Jean, one of the oldest roads in Quebec City. The square is named in honor of Marie-Marguerite d'Youville, a French-Canadian widow who founded the religious order known as the Grey Nuns of Montreal. It has been a focal point and gathering place for a very long time. It began as the Montcalm public market.

The rink is excellenct. Free, staffed, and indoor heated change room with skate rentals and sharpening. The rink is regularly cleared by a Zamboni and it is level and smooth. Skating at the outdoor rink is fun and free, and as an added bonus just outside the walls of Vieux Quebec for an après hot chocolate or walk to the Château Frontenac to look at the river.

July 2021 a nice place to hang out, chill and relax. The area always changes with different things and hosts different events. A nice place that's always evolving. Center of the city, lots of parking nearby.

The ice was so crisp and clean, we got on after the zambony passed, they even have adult aides to help you skate, bathroom are free for the public inside the skate rental, sharpening is also available, we paid 8$. Skaes to rent is 10$. Lockers are 2$ to rent, but we just left our bag and boots under the benches. The rink is small but it's all you need to get some nice picks and enjoy the experience.

Rue du Trésor, also known as "Artists Street," is a charming cobblestoned passageway in Quebec City. Its name originates from the former royal treasury that once stood nearby during the French Regime. Today, it serves as an open-air art gallery where local artists gather to display their works, creating a vibrant and atmospheric setting.
If you like local art, it’s great street to walk.

Have you noticed the cannon at the corner of the wall? It's a weathered cannon partially buried vertically in the ground, pointing towards the sky. It serves as a bumper to protect the wall corners from cars during tight turns.

We drove up to Quebec for vacation and stayed at a hotel in the upper old city. We were able to walk to most of the historic sites and found lots of interesting sites off the Place d’Armes and the Frontenac. This street was very charming as well as the adjoining street with restaurants.

Fairmont Le Château Frontenac is a historic and luxurious hotel located on Cap Diamant, offering stunning views of the St. Lawrence River and Old Quebec. This iconic landmark, opened in 1893 by the Canadian Pacific Railway, has been a popular choice for luxury travelers and notable figures throughout history. Following a $75 million renovation in 2014, the hotel now boasts 611 contemporary rooms adorned with chic furnishings and elegant color schemes.
An unforgettable stay at Fairmont Le Château Frontenac! Our visit felt like stepping into a real-life castle — the architecture, the view of Old Quebec, and the atmosphere were absolutely magical. The staff were warm and welcoming from check-in to check-out, making us feel truly valued as guests. Our room was elegant, clean, and had a stunning view of the St. Lawrence River. We enjoyed walking around the historic area right outside the hotel — everything was within reach: restaurants, boutiques, and beautiful photo spots. The breakfast buffet and cocktails at the bar were top-notch. Definitely worth the visit if you’re in Quebec City — whether you’re staying overnight or just stopping by to explore, the Château is a must-see landmark that captures the charm and history of Quebec.

For some, this property might feel a little dated at first, but the staff, service, and of course the location and charm of the château truly can’t be beat! We booked two nights through the Chase Travel Portal since it’s one of The Edit properties, and were warmly greeted and recognized upon arrival. There were some sweets waiting for us in the room as welcome amenities, and we were upgraded to a lovely city-view room. Breakfast was very good — lots of variety and a made-to-order egg station. In-room dining was great too. The gym and pool were both very nice and well maintained. The bathroom was on the smaller side but well designed and didn’t feel cramped at all. I noticed a miscellaneous charge a few days after checkout, and when I emailed to ask about it, I got a reply within an hour and the issue was resolved right away. Huge thanks to AR Senior Clerk Christine for the amazing service!

The hotel itself is beautiful, but for a 5-star property, the service at the front door is surprisingly poor. Assistance with strollers and luggage was virtually nonexistent. Both the main ramp and the lobby ramp were blocked off by a green tarp, forcing guests to carry everything up the stairs. Imagine juggling five bags and a stroller while three doormen and a valet stand by, watching like deer in headlights without offering to help — truly bizarre for a hotel of this caliber. Thankfully, on one occasion, another guest kindly held the door open for us. Adding to the frustration, when a so-called “VIP” guest arrived with security, the entire staff suddenly sprang into action, falling over themselves to assist. It seems help is reserved for those they choose to help. The only person who actually offered a hand received a $20 tip from me — because he was the only one who truly earned it. On the positive side, the restaurant staff were excellent — friendly, attentive, and professional. Breakfast was delicious and well presented, though dinner felt a bit overrated for the price and reputation. The housekeeping and cleaning staff were also fantastic — warm, thorough, and genuinely attentive to detail. Overall, it’s a lovely property with standout back-of-house and dining staff, but the front-facing service desperately needs improvement if the hotel wants to live up to its 5-star name.

We had a wonderful stay at the Château Frontenac in Quebec City. It is such a beautiful establishment full of charm, presence, and history, perfectly located in the heart of Old Québec. • The lobby, bar, and restaurants were buzzing with energy even though it was not peak season. We have stayed at several Fairmont locations, and this was the first time we had seen such a lively atmosphere in the common areas. • Service was excellent all around from valet and reception to Bar 1608, Le Sam Bistro, and room service. Every staff member we encountered was polite, professional, and eager to please. • Our junior suite was spacious, spotless, and perfectly situated with a stunning view of the city and port. We especially loved our afternoon at Bar 1608, sampling beautifully crafted cocktails while enjoying the cozy decor and breathtaking view. • We truly appreciate every Fairmont experience, and this stay was no exception. We will definitely be back. Thank you!

Staying at the Chateau Frontenac truly feels like staying in a real castle! The hotel sits on top of a hill overlooking Old Quebec and the St. Lawrence River, and the views are incredible from every angle. The hotel has hosted royalty, world leaders, and celebrities and every day tourists too :) The rooms are elegant and surprisingly reasonably priced for such an iconic landmark. The restaurant inside the hotel is fantastic, and there are cute boutique shops and even a mini art gallery on the lower level. The atmosphere is luxurious without being stuffy. If you're coming to Quebec City, don’t just admire the Chateau from the outside definitely stay or dine here!

My friends and I stayed at the Frontenac for 3 days and had a wonderful experience. Lea at the front desk was so kind and wonderful when checking us in and truly made us feel special. Vicky from Place Dufferin was absolutely incredible. Phenomenal service that was personalised - she gave us great recommendations for activities and “local” insights. Her recommendations helped us plan our days and led us to have great fun. From an F&B side, she was truly impeccable; progressive clearing, anticipatory service and is genuinely such a lovely person. Dinner at Le Sam was delicious and once again, the service was incredible (I can’t remember the male server’s name but he was also phenomenal). Also, shout out to housekeeping staff that kept not only our room, but the entire hotel, absolutely spotless. Overall, you can see why this is a 5-star Hotel.Thank you for treating us so well!!
Grace B — Google review
While the hotel's physical property is undoubtedly beautiful, the standard of service at the main entrance fell considerably short of expectations for an establishment of this caliber. A primary concern was the handling of luggage upon departure. After completing the checkout process and retrieving my vehicle from the valet, I presented my luggage tag to the attendant at the bell service desk. My luggage trolley was clearly visible from where I stood, and I indicated that I was ready to receive it at the main entrance. The attendant reasonably requested that I wait a few moments due to the busy period. However, after waiting approximately fifteen minutes, I noted that my luggage was no longer in its original location, nor had it been brought outside. Upon inquiring with the same attendant, I was assured that the luggage had already been delivered, a statement which contradicted the situation. Despite my growing frustration with the handling of the matter, the attendant insisted repeatedly that he was "pretty sure it went out." It was only after a second doorman intervened and suggested we check the luggage storage room that my belongings were located, positioned near the doorway. While both staff members subsequently offered apologies, the overall experience—characterized by a lack of proactive communication and ineffective problem-solving—was deeply disappointing. This incident further underscores that for the hotel to truly align with its five-star designation, a significant and immediate improvement in the consistency and proactivity of its front-facing service is required. .

La Boutique de Noël de Québec is a year-round Christmas shop located in Quebec City, offering a festive atmosphere with Christmas ornaments, lights, and tree-toppers. The city itself becomes magical during the holiday season, but this shop allows visitors to take home a piece of that spirit any time of year. The shop is situated at various locations throughout the city, including Rue du Petit-Champlain and inside the Chateau Frontenac.
The shop is right next to the Notre-Dame Basilica and is very easy to spot. It’s open all year round selling Christmas-themed items, quite similar to the Christmas gift shops in Banff. It would definitely feel even more festive if you visit during the winter holiday season. As soon as you step inside, you’ll be surrounded by a strong Christmas vibe, with plenty of cute decorations, keychains, mugs, and small gifts. The craftsmanship isn’t the best, but everything is very photogenic and there’s a wide variety to choose from. That said, prices are quite high as it’s in a tourist area, so the value for money isn’t great — but if you see something you like, it’s worth picking up a few souvenirs.

French restaurant
Le Lapin Sauté is a charming restaurant with a cozy atmosphere and outdoor seating, offering a delightful selection of French cuisine with a Quebecois twist. The menu features an array of rabbit dishes, including the popular rabbit poutine and warm rabbit liver salad, all made from naturally farmed rabbits. In addition to rabbit specialties, the restaurant also offers decadent options like cured duck sharing platters and gourmet grilled cheese sandwiches.
We had a great time at Le Lapin Sauté, a tiny and perfectly wonderful gem of a place in la Petit Camplain neighborhood of Quebec City. Reservations are a must as they can only seat about 30 people inside. There's additional seating outside with heaters and blankets. The place is clearly very popular. The menu is small, typically the mark of a stellar dining establishment that prides itself on execution. We shared a platter of local/homemade pâtés, terrines, onion confit, and cheese. I selected a tender rabbit leg with mustard sauce and my husband had the rabbit pot pie with fruit chutney. We then shared their signature dessert, salted honey pie. Everything was a treat, service was very attentive, prompt and delivered with warmth and humor. To top it all, the Lapin Sauté is in a gorgeous neighborhood. Just a terrific experience!

I booked at 8 pm on line but I was too tired so fell in sleep before ..then I was late to show up for 15 min . But the female staff warmly welcomed me and provided excellent meals. I wanted to try rabbit kidney salad but I was advised by another female staff that the flavour might be too strong to try for the first time so I tried her recommendation of rabbit leg in mustard sauce . That one tasted close to the chicken but meat was very soft . It was so pity that I could only try one main course as I visited by myself.. I would love to visit again to try more dishes next time . Thank you for your hospitality and heart full service . One female staff had really beautiful smile . I highly recommend you to visit with booking . Oh I forgot to say , I loved local sparkling wine too . The restaurant decorated so cute as well! I was very happy to have the best dinner for my last day of Quebec !

This little restaurant is super cute and charming, both inside and out! We came here on our first night in Quebec City. There are only maybe 8 tables, so a reservation is a must. As the name implies, the menu leans heavily towards rabbit dishes, but there are also several duck dishes, if you don't fancy rabbit. I started with the rabbit croquettes on a bed of beet hummus. The croquettes were nice and crunchy on the outside, but maybe a touch dry inside. The beets added more color than flavor to the hummus, which was to my liking (not being a big hummus person). My husband started with the onion soup which he enjoyed very much. You will find there are as many variations on onion soup in Quebec City as there are restaurants. I gave this one a 7 out of ten, but my husband gave it a 9. So, there you have it. There's a taste for everyone! For the entree, I ordered the rabbit leg with mustard sauce, a traditional preparation done fairly well. My husband went off-theme and ordered the pork loin, but he was not disappointed. Overall, it was a great first Quebecois meal. More than anything, I just loved the charming ambiance.

Wonderful spot, small and cosy. Beautifully decorated with a smiling staff. We had the fondue to start - perfect amount for two with delicious garlic bread and a lovely sharp taste to the cheese. Had Pinot noir as our waitress recommended and she was spot on. The wine went well with the fondue and even better with the saddle of rabbit stuffed with mushrooms and a very large serving of duck breast cooked to a perfect medium rare. We had a cheese plate of 3 cheeses for dessert and she suggested a different wine to pair with the cheeses, also delicious. We didn’t eat until 1:30 so we were able to linger until 3:30 as there were no longer people waiting for tables. Wonderful meal at a perfect little spot.
Patra M — Google review
Lovely and welcoming service, despite being a little slow at times (particularly with the water refill). The tables weren't that full, so it gave the impression that they're short-staffed. The flower pot decorations inside and outside are very charming. The food is okay, and pricey for what it is. We had the tout lapin tout canard to share. The rabbit leg reminded me of turkey, but not as dry - slightly firm, and with only a tad of gaminess. It's good, but not particularly standout either, unlike duck. The duck leg was good with a very enjoyable fattiness beneath the skin. The duck magret had a nice smoked flavour, but was stringy and impossible to chew. Duck foie gras was good but not as creamy as goose. There were no pickles despite being listed as part of the set on the menu. The green beans were somewhat limp and seemed like they may have been frozen. The mustard was on the light side, but still nice, although I felt that it covered the rabbit's own taste - perhaps salt on the side could be useful for those who want to experience the rabbit for itself.

This extremely cozy & charming small restaurant in Quebec City is one of those places that transports you back in time with the rustic vibe and dishes and truly attentive service . We had made reservations few weeks in advance and glad we did as this place will fill up quick . The staff was very friendly and our waitress explained the menu to us . The menu does have a theme of rabbit based dishes and duck. We asked for some gin based cocktails and she recommended some of the local gins to try and their flavor profiles . We tried the floral version of a Gin Tonic and the herbal version of their Negroni . Both were outstanding and went well with our main courses . As it’s not every day you find cassoulet on menus , we got both versions to try . The rabbit leg and the duck leg (not pictured) . Their version is less heavy than other cassoulet but this is a good thing . The duck sausage is juicy and memorable as it sits on top of a bed of properly prepared beans and rustic cut carrots . Small pieces of lardon are caramelized adding their unique depth of flavor to the dish . Rabbit leg is well prepared and maintains its juicy flavor without having dried out . It’s a challenging kind of protein that can easily dry out . It here ! They know their rabbit here ! A plus was our waitress asked about gluten free and could omit breadcrumbs on top of the cassoulet. Desert menu we tried the maple syrup crème brulle which was light and maple tines shined though. A great location and cozy restaurant that you need to visit.Make sure reservations are made in advance . Step outside after dinner at night and enjoy the prime location and charm .

There was a wide variety of items displayed in the showcase — everything looked rich and plentiful. But he croissants were quite dry and hard, as if they had been sitting out for a while. The tarts were better — the crust was nice and crispy, though the custard was a bit too sweet. It’s a good spot for a quick breakfast, but since it’s self-service with tray returns, the tables were a bit messy. 真的像其他評論說的類似台灣的85度C 或不及

Heard a lot about this bakery and was excited to try French pastries. Nice selection on display - I ordered a few to share. My opinion - this location it didn’t taste very fresh. Everything tasted a bit old and hard to chew. I’ve had much better croissants at other places. I watched people order sandwiches and service was very slow people waited a long time just to have their sandwich warmed up. Maybe other locations are better? Washroom door didn’t lock so people had to wait with some one watching the door.

Pillard is a fantastic spot for both breakfast and lunch. The atmosphere is cozy yet lively, making it a perfect place to start your day or take a midday break. They offer a great selection of pastries — fresh, flaky, and clearly made with care. We tried both the croissant combo and the bagel combo, and each was absolutely wonderful. The croissant was buttery and crisp, paired perfectly with the filling. The bagel was fresh and satisfying, with just the right balance of flavors. Everything tasted great, and the portions were generous. Service was efficient and friendly, even during busy hours. If you're looking for a place with quality food and quick service, Pillard is a top pick. Highly recommended

The canelé's dough was dense and felt like it did not rise properly, instead of being custardy on the inside. The other pastries felt on the chewy side too, instead of light and crisp. The latte is served in a wide handleless mug (or rather a bowl), which is cute as it encourages you to warm your hands on it.

Renowned chefs Jean-Luc Boulay and Arnaud Marchand create elegant interpretations of northern Quebec cuisine using entirely local ingredients. The menu features reinvented classic desserts and dishes such as bison tartare, braised beef ravioli, and salmon in cranberry glaze.
What a wonderful evening. From door greeting to leaving we were treated with respect and the wait staff were extremely knowledgeable and upbeat. This restaurant had been recommended by Canadian friends and did not disappoint. Our starters of seal pate and trout were outstanding followed by bison short ribs and duck breast. It was difficult to choose from a wonderful menu. The wine was also excellent and overall prices were not over the top. Only small criticism was the one dessert was brought out so quickly after ordering that we suspect it had been pre plated. It was nicely flavoured but the biscuit/meringue surround was a bit tough( a hint of staleness ) Overall however the experience was an excellent one with the wait staff even accompanying us through the adjoining Hotel to show us where to order a taxi( great service!) It finished off our Canadian holiday with lovely memories.

I absolutely loved my dinner here. All the dishes we had from the onion soup to the mains and dessert were fantastic. Honestly more impressive and delicious than I expected. This was my favourite meal in Quebec City. Waiters were also friendly. I highly recommend this resto to anyone visiting the town!

We had brunch at Chez Boulay, another Michelin level restaurant in Quebec City that showcased the very best of Nordic-inspired Quebecois cuisine. The meal began with delicately smoked salmon paired with tart lingonberries and buttery potatoes sautéed in brown butter. Each element felt purposeful, from the velvety texture of the salmon to the nutty undertone of the butter, creating a dish that was both comforting and refined. The seared trout that followed was equally memorable, perfectly crisped skin giving way to tender, flaky flesh, complemented by a vibrant arugula and sunflower pesto that added a peppery freshness and subtle earthiness. To finish, a warm, gourmet pancake topped with stewed rhubarb and fresh strawberries provided a beautiful, tangy-sweet finale. The experience at Chez Boulay demonstrating culinary precision and outstanding service.

Beautiful dining room, wonderful service. The beef cheek dinner was very hearty, tender and rich. It was very highly seasoned, and full of flavour. I kind of wish mine had more than a small piece of potato to offset the rich sauce and artichoke purée, but the bread helped! The chicken/poultry dinner was herbaceous and satisfying. The onion soup: rich, hearty and very beefy/flavourful. It’s pretty heavy! Glad we shared one. The smoked whitefish: unusual, fun play on textures.

The waiter was excellent. Polite, friendly and extremely helpful. The food was cooked to perfection and tasted like heaven. Just wish we had landed a private booth or single table for 2 to make it more cozy for us.

Some of the best food I have had in a while. I love the foraged nature to their elevated menu. So many tastes I have never tried and the combination of tastes is a symphony. The squash appetizer and lamb croquette was especially amazing

We were visiting from out of town and chose this restaurant to celebrate a friend’s 40th birthday. The atmosphere was lovely, and our server was friendly and attentive. We were a little disappointed that they didn’t offer a standard margarita, but the food was good, and the thoughtful birthday dessert was a very nice touch.

Michelin Star well deserved. Delicious food, amazing service, the perfect night with my love. Well explained wine pairings that complemented the dishes perfectly. We even had the opportunity to speak to chef. A perfect evening.🫶🍷🍽👀

From the moment we walked in we were greeted by name and very warmly. We were introduced to the kitchen staff and then sat. The food was exceptional in taste, composition and presentation and paired perfectly with the two levels of wine choices. Can’t even choose a favourite course, it was all so good but the tartelette and the vege were the delightful surprises and the safroned apple dessert was one of the best desserts we’ve ever had. The service and attention to every detail was perfect. Fabulous experience gentlemen and lady. Thank you for a wonderful 10th Anniversary dinner.

WOWWW! JUST WOWWW!! I had an incredible experience with 9 courses of purely amazing unique food. The service was friendly, fun and professional. The staff truly knows what they're doing. If you're looking for something special, this beautiful restaurant should be at the top of your list! This was an experience I'll remember for a very long time.

Interesting tasting menu and experience overall. Service was outstanding. The flavours were amazing and unique all the way through the menu. Standouts to me were the foie gras and the cheese course. The dessert was also my favourite from the Michelin restaurants I tried this week! They definitely earn their star and I would love to come back next time I’m in town. A few small hiccups here and there but everything quickly rectified.

Great night, great food in Quebec! The food was good but not sure it's worth a Michelin star. The service is impeccable. The decor is lovely. I hate beets and was able to eat theirs since the flavours cover the earthy part I hate in beets, big step for me. We were 4 and loved our night.

This was my third time to Laurie Raphael. The food continues to be some of the best I've had around the world. Every course was 100% amazing. The service is second to none! The unfortunate part of my visit this time is that there is not space for parties larger than 4 inside and hence my party of 5 was seated in the outdoor terrace. The terrace is exceedingly loud with road traffic, causing us to struggle to hear conversations and the description of the food. A really unfortunate circumstance. If you can book a seat inside you won't be disappointed.

Valcartier Vacation Village, located about 20 miles northeast of Old Quebec near the Jacques-Cartier River, is a popular all-season resort offering a wide range of activities. Originally known for its toboggan run and snow tubing, the resort now features water slides and pools in the summer, as well as winter activities such as snow tubing and ice skating.
Waterpark was awesome. We enjoyed this park thoroughly when visited Quebec. Park had many water rides which were enjoyed by kids. It had warm water too so didn’t feel cold. If we are visiting as tourists I suggest you to go early(around 09:45) so that once park opens then you can get one of the shades. Also have some food snacks with you. Overall you will definitely enjoy the park.

Good family fun. Nice water parks indoor and out. Restaurants not so good. 4.50 for a fountain pop, 9 dollars for a slice of works mainly mushrooms not even fresh .Bring your own drinks. Bring snacks. Burgers free like fully processed not much real meat. Fries were over cooked and tasted old like cardboard. Eat away from hotel . Nice hotel, seems to be ran mainly by student. Like a gigantic McDonald's mentality.

My family enjoyed a three night stay over the weekend of October 3 - 6, 2025 and we were not disappointed. We stayed in a family suite that was spacious, clean and well adorned. The room was top notch. Our “Tropical” package included passes to the water park on two days. We had full use of Bora Parc without lines or waits. We all had a great time. The hotel staff were excellent and indulged my efforts to speak en francais. The staff were bilingual and happy to switch to English when required. La receptionist, Louise, est tres gentile est professionelle.Merci! The hotel restaurant The Captain, has a nice selection of food and the poutine (very large portion) was excellent. This is a great resort to visit, with excellent amenities, close to Quebec City and a very professional staff. Merci beaucoup. On reviendra bientôt!

Pretty dang cool facility! We chose to do the indoor park (Bora Park) on a Sunday at the end of July. We got there right at open and stayed for about 3.5 hours. That was enough to tire out both of my kids who were 13 and 10. No lines for any of the slides! We got a cabana but honestly it is not worth the price. If it were busier, yeah maybe it would have been nice to hide out there for a bit, but really they are not worth it. There was one teenager in the kitchen and one working the till at the restaurant so it took a while to get food, but all things considered it wasn’t too bad. We don’t have anything like this where we’re from and the kids had a blast! It was an extremely expensive day factoring in the cab rides to and from Quebec City too.

Our stay at Village Vacances Valcartier was nothing short of amazing — the perfect blend of relaxation, adventure, and top-notch hospitality. The resort has everything you could possibly want for a memorable getaway: a luxurious hotel, a world-class indoor waterpark, an incredible spa, and a variety of dining options all within the same property. The rooms were spotless, spacious, and beautifully designed, with all the modern amenities you’d expect from a premium resort. The staff went above and beyond to make our experience comfortable — friendly, professional, and always ready to help with a smile. The indoor Bora Park was the highlight for us — tropical vibes in the heart of Quebec! The slides, lazy river, and wave pool were so much fun, and everything was well maintained and safe. Dining at the on-site restaurants was another treat — great food variety, generous portions, and a cozy ambiance that made every meal enjoyable. Plus, having access to the spa and all the inclusives really made it feel like a complete luxury experience.
Aastha S — Google review
While it was quite busy for a late July week day, it enjoyed our time at this water park. We were happy with our decision to rent a cabana. We arrived after 11 (an hour after the park opens) and there wasn’t a chair left to put one’s stuff. The cabana comes with a fridge, safe, electrical and USB outlets, fan and waters. It was worth every penny. We were impressed with the design of the park, more specially the lazy river. The theme and ambiance were really nice (I won’t spoil it). While you do need to get off at the end (about 12-15 minutes), we managed to do it many times despite long lines, but they move fast. Generally, the park is smaller than, say a Six Flags water park, but it’s big enough for every age group to have fun. Finally, the wave pool almost never stops. After 15-20 minutes, the waves stop, but start again within 2-3 minutes tops! As expected, the concessions were a big meh. Not only were they not cheap but I waited nearly 30 minutes for 3 bowls and a wrap at one of the restaurants. I think they were training kids…. As we walked around we noticed all the locals bring large coolers with all their food…. Despite this little hiccup, I would definitely return to this park.

Wonderful outdoor waterpark for families, beautiful lobby, my 5 yo had a blast! We went Saturday and Sunday and even though it was packed there were space for everyone and we didn't wait much to do the rides. We will definitely be back! Thanks! I only wish the food areas had a better manager, and a nice breakfast included option with the hotel stay, In the waterpark the servers (teenagers) didn't wear gloves to serve the hotdogs, prepare the burgers etc. We also tried to have breakfast in "Le Capitaine " and we paid 60$ for 2 adults and we didnt even eat it because the food buffet was covered in flies! The servers didnt bother to clean, it was very dirty 🤢, food was terrible we could not eat it and that kind of ruined our nice experience in the hotel. (Only for this reason I'll remove 1 star). Everything else was awesome

When you arrive in Quebec City, a visit to Café La Maison Smith Notre-Dame is a must. This local chain is famous for its delicious coffee and tea, as well as its expertly crafted French pastries. Sit back with an espresso or herbal tea and indulge in the delightful treats while observing the hustle and bustle of tourists exploring the cobblestone streets. Food: 5/5 - I had the fruit tart with sencha tea. The tart was fresh and not too sweet. There’s a good selection of teas. There’s also hot and cold drinks to choose from. Service: 5/5 - friendly server Atmosphere: 5/5 a nice vibe to the place with additional seating outside underneath an awning just like a cafe in Paris. There are some seats looking out into the small courtyard. A difficult place to find as there are steep stairs leading down off the main road.

We tried this café for breakfast and ordered a plain croissant, an almond croissant, Portuguese tarts, and a cappuccino. The croissants were excellent, among the best we had during our trip to Quebec. The coffee was decent as well. It’s probably the most beautifully situated café in the lower town. Situated by a public square and a church, it’s perfect for people-watching or simply enjoying a sunny day.

Very lovely and welcoming staff. The pecan pie slice was huge and just what I wanted. But I couldn't taste the maple in the maple latte, and the apple turnover wasn't anything special, though its shape was cute. Overall very sweet, but I think that's on me for what I ordered.

Restaurant Poutineville Saint-Roch is a relaxed venue that offers a unique twist on the classic Quebec dish, poutine. While it's true that Quebec cuisine is not just about poutine and maple syrup, this restaurant provides an opportunity to indulge in these delicacies with a gourmet touch.
We have to try poutine! We came to this store just to have it, and it was absolutely delicious! We went for the biggest size, because there’s only $5 difference between the smallest and the biggest. We shared it between two of us, and guess what? We couldn’t even finish it! We brought it home and had it for dinner last night, and it was still so good.

Very good poutine, nice service!! We got regular size for two plus burger with fries and it was a little too much but we got a to go box haha. Philly poutine is what we got and I wish we could go again to try more.

I had their vegan poutine and it absolutely blew me away! The fries were perfectly crispy, the vegan gravy was rich and savory, and the dairy-free cheese curds melted beautifully into the dish. It had all the comforting, indulgent flavor of classic poutine—just 100% plant-based. It’s not easy to nail vegan comfort food like this, but they seriously crushed it. Super friendly staff and a warm, welcoming vibe made the experience even better. If you’re vegan or just poutine-curious, this place is a must-visit!

Huge portions and seriously satisfying poutine. The one we had came loaded with tender beef, gooey cheese curds, rich gravy, and a drizzle of cheese sauce — absolutely indulgent!

Amazing food and great service. The staff were very polite. Even though we could not speak French very well they were able to speak English and were very accommodating to our lack of French speaking. Would highly recommend the French poutine. It is to die for. Imagine a french onion soup but with poutine and the general Tao poutine was spectacular. Definitely recommend. The gyro wrap is simple and delicious and hits the spot. The gravy and home fries in each of the dishes are top notch.

Coming from an American, this place is good. We tried three different dishes. All of them were great. I actually prefer a more traditional poutine as opposed to their wilder, mixed up ones. I had the Indian curry version. It was good but again, I prefer the Canadian types of poutine. The service was good. Waiter spoke English. They had an English menu. If you’re looking for a good taste of Quebec, I’d suggest this!

Since 2010, this women-owned brewery has been dedicated to crafting beer using traditional artisanal methods and promoting Quebec-based micro-enterprises while using local ingredients for both their beer and food menus.

This is a great place for any sort of drinks, if I lived here I would hang out here. We had Charles serving us and he was perfectly bilingual, I can't even tell what his mother tongue is. The food was served immediately, was hot and fresh and not some warmed up frozen crap. Go here, the beer is amazing, the food is excellent, the service is perfect.

Come for the drinks and great service! Out of the 4 dishes we got, only 1 was good. Most notably we do not recommend the nachos (I think they use shredded cheese curds which results in a very dry nacho that is unpleasant to eat), additionally the Mac n Cheese lacked any creaminess and was over powered with maple flavor. The chicken croquettes were the one standout with the spicy mayo!

This was a relaxed place with good vibes and friendly service. They were fine with us not speaking French, and the food was tasty. I had the chimichurri poutine, which was tasty but very salty, and my husband had the mac and cheese and said it was delicious. Review of St. Louis Forts and Châteaux National Historic Site – Quebec (Approx. 300 words) The St. Louis Forts and Châteaux National Historic Site in Quebec City is a fascinating and immersive experience that brings centuries of history to life. Located right beneath the Dufferin Terrace near the iconic Château Frontenac, this archaeological site gives visitors a rare opportunity to walk through the remains of the official residences of French and British governors from the 17th to the 19th century. What makes this place truly special is how well it preserves and presents its history. The guided tours are informative and engaging, with knowledgeable staff who share intriguing stories about the people who once lived and ruled there. The exhibits are thoughtfully designed, combining historical artifacts, interactive displays, and digital reconstructions that help you visualize what life was like during Quebec’s early colonial days. It feels like stepping back in time, right in the heart of Old Quebec. The staff deserve special mention — they are extremely polite, friendly, and always greet visitors with a smile. Their enthusiasm for history is contagious, and they’re always willing to answer questions or explain the exhibits in more detail. It’s clear that they genuinely care about making your visit memorable and educational. The site itself is well-maintained, clean, and easy to explore, even for families and those with limited mobility. The atmosphere is peaceful and filled with a sense of reverence for Quebec’s deep cultural roots. Whether you’re a history enthusiast or just curious about the city’s origins, this place offers something valuable for everyone. Overall, the St. Louis Forts and Châteaux is a must-visit destination in Quebec City. Between the fascinating ruins, informative exhibits, and the warm, welcoming staff, it offers an unforgettable glimpse into the foundations of one of North America’s oldest cities.

Really neat experience! They have preserved the site wonderfully and have lots of artifacts on display. This is a large widespread site as it stretches all across old Quebec City. There are many parts of the fort to explore at many different points. The main area has the old barracks and officers residences. There's an old bakery on site done up in the old interior of a few hundred years ago. The people that were working here seemed to enjoy their positions and were very informative. We also took in the video at the visitor center building. Lots to read about the history of the City. Its strategic importance to both the French and later the British. As well as its cultural importance to Canada. A few hours are needed to explore this place properly. I do recommend going below for the tour of the Chateau which is right in front of the Fairmont.

Chez Ashton is a renowned Quebec establishment known for serving traditional poutine. It originated as a fries truck in 1969 and expanded to its first permanent location in 1976. While it's considered one of the best spots for poutine, some find it slightly pricey. The restaurant also offers tasty burgers, but their poutines are the real highlight. Visitors praise the quality of the cheese curds, flavorful sauce, and crispy fries.
Good poutine. Amazing cheese curds, sweet sauce and crunchy fries. A little expensive.

One of the finest poutines in Quebec city although a bit on the expensive end. The burgers are tasty although not as much as their poutines. The restaurant is tidy and the service is adequate.

Ashton is one of the original restaurant who popularized the classic Québécois dish the “Poutine” in 1969! Since then, the chain sold its rights in 2022 but the tasty poutine remains the same if not better. I tried their Poutine that won in 2024 the famous country wide competition called “Poutine Week” and it was fantastically delicious 🤤!! It was called “La Rosbif Bacon Chipotle “. I highly recommend you try it. The service inside on busy hours is slow, so better be patient but the staff were really nice, polite and friendly. The drive-thru is usually fast except on busy eating hours which is normal. This location is freshly renovated to the new owners tastes all while keeping the atmosphere of the original Ashton restaurant which is a nice touch. A bit more pricey compared to other fast food poutine restaurants. Very clean, airy and lots of seating capacity. GOOD JOB 👏🏻

It's an ideal place to enjoy the fresh air, watch boats pass by, or simply soak in the peaceful surroundings. A must-visit if you're exploring Québec City!"

The most amazing race we've ever seen. I didn't know we humans can do such things. Les quebequis sont sans égal.

Grand idea for an open recreational park on the river much liked by tourism-exhausted kids. Bring them down for a run-around! Break for parents and carers too.
Alan W — Google review
Lovely park with waterfront view of the St-Lawrence river! This is such a lovely park with great view of Old Quebec as well as the river. It has many sitting options, including hammock chairs and beanbags on the lawn, perfect for relaxing on a sunny day. The small fountain offers a good option for children to play on hot summer days, and the lights on grounds also emit water mist to cool down. This is also the location to watch the Lotto Quebec fireworks. Highly recommend!

You can’t go wrong with a walk by the port passing by Place des Canotiers and finishing at Petit Champlain. It’s wonderful on fall time, when the sun hits the leaves and all you hear is the sound of gratitude.

Restaurant
Located just a short drive from Quebec City's center, Strøm Spa Nordique/Vieux-Québec offers a prime spot along the Saint Lawrence River. The spa focuses on thermotherapy, where guests can enjoy Nordic baths, eucalyptus steam rooms, Finnish saunas, and waterfalls. The tranquil pools include an indoor/outdoor option and an infinity pool with river views.
Visited from Toronto. Overall amazing Spa/ Thermal Baths experience. Their facilities are top notch and the location is stunning. Really enjoyed their floating bath and found the extra cost completely worth it. Definitely worth a visit! Only complaint is the service at their Nord restaurant to be very slow and non responsive even though it was empty.
Michael R — Google review
I came from Switzerland and had the pleasure of discovering this spa during my trip. The place is beautiful, with several baths and relaxation rooms, including a small, cozy corner slightly hidden behind the spa — perfect for unwinding in peace while admiring nature. It was a truly soothing experience. A free facial treatment is also offered, and I was pleasantly surprised by its quality. The meal at the restaurant was delicious, and the service was impeccable. The spa staff are warm, welcoming, and professional. 🚨🚨🚨Small downside: the behavior of the security guard! When I arrived around 11:45 am, I didn’t have flip-flops, so I asked at the front desk if I could wear my indoor shoes (a pair of white New Balance sneakers). The lady kindly said yes with a smile. I then spent the whole day in this lovely setting, until I left at 8:30 pm, without anyone saying a word. But at 7 pm, while I was resting in one of the relaxation rooms, a security guard wearing dark sunglasses came to tell me that sneakers were not allowed, that I had to take them off, leave them in my locker, and that flip-flops were available for purchase downstairs. I explained that I had been there since noon and that the receptionist had given me permission. Still, he insisted for a moment. I calmly told him I wouldn’t buy flip-flops at the end of the day and wished him a nice day. He eventually walked away. Only a few minutes later, as I was taking a photo of my little cairn next to one of the pools, he came back again. This time, he leaned forward with his arms crossed and whispered that phones were not allowed in the bathing area and that the rules had to be respected. Which I completely understand, of course. However, I found his attitude intrusive and overbearing, it was unsettling, especially since other people were also using their phones at the time.

It’s unfortunate that I have to leave a negative review here. I thoroughly enjoyed my spa experience and was planning to tell all my family and friends how wonderful it was until dinner. Unfortunately, we had a terrible experience at the restaurant. Afterward, I made a complaint to the front desk, and the staff assured me that the manager would call me the next day to provide feedback. Honestly, all I wanted was an apology. However, a week later, no one had reached out. This experience truly demonstrated how little value you place on your customers.
Poppy L — Google review
The unwelcoming feeling started with the receptionist invited the customer came after us to check-in before we do! :( In the attached photo, we are the first customer arriving at the Strøm spa. After we patiently waited in the massage line for 10 minutes (as we have a massage <30 mins, would like a faster check-in to meet the appointment time), the regular check-in line had a customer walked in. The receptionist immediately invited the customer came after us to the front desk! This practice is surreal/abnormal/unprofessional/bizarre? I walked to the receptionist and kindly reminded her that we were there first. No apologies was made, in fact, silence was the feedback. The customer was nice enough to back off and let us to check in first. The receptionist was again silence, no greeting, no Hi or Bonjour, just stared back at me, is this how a customer should be treated at a namely highly upscaled spa? Did I also mention the towel rack is always empty, don’t expect a dry towel whenever you needed them; the robe rack is always full, gotta wait in the cold for a space to hang your robe; pool interior is slimy and slippery, haven’t experienced this in other spa so it might need some good scrub. Last thing, don’t order their spa package as the items listed inside the package are misleading. The package indicated customers can ‘pick’ two items from ‘Art of living’ and ‘Spa essentials’, and yes, they are two dollar-store water bottles :) so don’t expect too much! The package value does not add up! Overall, this place does not worth the ticket price and you won’t get the best experience.

The Strom Nordic spa is a must-do experience if staying anywhere near Old Quebec. The spa is massive with a variety of open air baths, in door soaking baths, cold baths and a massage area. The earlier you go the better the deal you get because you can stay as long as you want. We were a party of six and stayed about 4.5 hours and everyone was saying how they could have stayed longer. Definitely will be back.
Jamie L — Google review
*updated no follow up email at all Sadly, I have to express my disappointment about the racism I experienced in this space. I’ve been to many Strom locations before, but this was my first time at this one, and being treated differently because of my race was shocking to me. I went with a white friend, and I could clearly feel the difference in the way we were treated. I could also see the same staff member interacting with other clients , it was so different from how she treated me. We ordered the same dishes, yet mine looked like it had fallen on the floor before being served to me. The staff member just handed it to me without any explanation and walked away. This experience really left a bad impression. This place is definitely not welcoming for tourists, and the staff seemed overworked and completely lacking patience. I rarely leave bad reviews but this behaviour is UNACCEPTABLE

This was such an amazing experience!!! Will definitely get there earlier next time, so we can stay longer. So many different areas and ways to relax. The floatation room was worth it as well. Our teenagers enjoyed being able to be there on a Wednesday evening. Recommend booking in advance because there weren’t any available massage appointments when we got there.
Jennifer S — Google review
Amazing space. It’s so well thought out. Beautiful and peaceful experience!!! Loved everything about it. Recommend going on a week day, weekend was packed. Only thing I didn’t like was, wish the bathroom-was a little cleaned and they had a swim suit dryer. Don’t forget slippers!! They are $30 if you have to buy Overall must do if you can while in Quebec City

Anglican church
Nestled in the charming Upper Town of Quebec City, the Cathedral of the Holy Trinity holds a significant place in history as the first Anglican cathedral established outside of the British Isles. Constructed between 1800 and 1804, this architectural gem showcases a dignified facade that echoes London's St. Martin-in-the-Fields, featuring Palladian elements like Ionic pilasters and an elegant pediment.
⛪️ Beautiful Architecture & Rich History ⛪️ One of many beautiful churches and cathedrals in Quebec, The Cathedral of the Holy Trinity is free to enter and well worth a visit. Bring your camera to capture its photogenic interior, and enjoy touring the collection of historical artifacts from throughout the cathedral’s history.

A beautiful cathedral with a quiet and peaceful ambiance. The interior is simple and modest, yet majestic. An added attraction was the ongoing exhibition of historic and royal artifacts from Great Britain, during our visit.

The cathedral of the holy trnity is also a rich in history landmark in the area. Inside the church you can see the architectural elegant, spiritual symbolism and the influence of British present in the early canada. Many relic are of historical value. See it by yourself you will be impressed. Here are some of my photos to share.

My friends and I were treated to a wonderfully educational tour by Jamie, who was extremely nice and entertaining. He gave us more stories and facts about the location's history that we would not have learned on the information cards. Absolutely a must to visit if you have a little time to spare. Thank you Jamie!

Gorgeous cathedral not far from Notre Dame and free to access, just like all the cathedrals in this area, all located in a busy part of the town, bustling with tourists and business alike. Beautiful, simple lines with the altar in front and the organ right above the entrance. Not many people accessing it during the week or maybe it was the late September day we visited it. Just stunning.
EV N — Google review
This is a beautiful cathedral with lots of interesting history. My friends and I were lucky enough to have an intimate tour with Jamie who was very knowledgeable about the church and its role in Québec history. He answered any of our questions far beyond expectations. If you have a passion for history or an interest in unique architecture and stained glass this is definitely worth the stop.

Notable street
Rue du Petit Champlain is a charming, narrow pedestrian street located at the base of Cape Diamond in Quebec City. It is the heart of a quaint neighborhood that pays homage to Samuel de Champlain, the founder of Quebec City. This historic area is known for its old-world charm, with cozy cafes, quaint shops, and elegant buildings lining the cobblestone street.
Came to QC for the third time. This small street is magical especially at night and in winter during snowfall. Very pretty. Lots of interesting shops. Two years back, there was a gentleman who played beautiful music on his guitar, busking along that street. It was mesmerising. There’s a funicular at the end and you could pay a fee to take it up instead of climbing stairs.
Bugwagen — Google review
This charming little cobblestone street feels like a piece of dreamland. Located in the Lower Town, it is stacked with restaurants, shops, cafés, boutiques, and always filled with tourists, travelers, and explorers from around the world. While it can feel a bit touristy, you can’t deny the old school charm and attraction this street has to offer.

One of the most charming streets in all of Canada! Rue du Petit-Champlain feels like stepping into a European fairytale — cobblestone streets, cozy cafés, boutique shops, and colorful facades everywhere you look. It’s especially beautiful in winter with festive lights and decorations, but equally magical year-round. The atmosphere is lively yet relaxed, perfect for strolling, shopping for souvenirs, or grabbing a coffee at a local café. Don’t miss the Breakneck Stairs viewpoint — it offers a great photo spot overlooking the entire street! A must-visit when exploring Old Québec — truly the heart and soul of the city. ❤

Lots of shops to buy souvenirs and memorabilia. Wouldn't recommend strollers, had to carry the stroller up and down quite a lot of steps when we went there and the place is mostly packed. We did visit on a long weekend though. The place is beautiful with old heritage and cobblestone path. Lots of options to buy magnets, showpieces etc. And a few cute restaurants too.

Cap Diamant, also known as Cape Diamond, offers breathtaking views of the Saint Lawrence River, Dufferin Terrace, and the city of Quebec. The promontory is home to iconic landmarks such as Chateau Frontenac and the Citadel of Quebec. Walking through old Quebec reveals the enormous rock on which these historic structures are built. The area's peaceful atmosphere and inclusive people make it a truly pleasant experience.
