The park also features various event spaces such as the Man O War Memorial, Club Lounge, Campground Pavilion, Alltech Arena, Rolex Stadium, Covered Arena, Hunter Jumper Complex Rings, Walnut Stadium, Dressage Complex and Cross Country Course/Steeplechase Course.
Amazing beautiful day of horses and two horse museums. A must see, you can spend most of the day here! Be sure to book horse rides early when you get there, they sell out fast! Gorgeous grounds, so many horses and shows and educational opportunities to learn the worldwide history of the horse. Love this place!! For all ages. You can see how those that work here truly love what they do and love the horses they care for. 🥰

Went for a dog show. Nice venue, clean. Rented stall for grooming space, that was great! Lots of room. Enjoyed seeing the horses showing and in pastures on way out. Lovely grounds! I noticed they have pony rides for kids and horses for adults, I assume for trail rides.
Willow M — Google review
What a wonderful and relaxing experience! Being in Kentucky, home of The Kentucky Derby, my initial thought was that this place was strictly about the thoroughbred but I was so mistaken. They covered every type of horse, horse event, history of the lineage of horses, and so much more! It was truly a great and educational experience. Everyone was nice, professional, and encouraged us to ask questions and had plenty of answers. Such a rich history at this 1,200 farm, filled with horses to pet. A review doesn't do it justice. You need to experience this place. Everything was on a schedule (if you like structure as I do) and timed at a leisurely pace so you can get to the next event on time at a comfortable pace. Or you can experience it on your own schedule. So much h to do! This place needs to be on your bucket list. Entrance pricing is very reasonable and so are items at the gift shop. Make a day of visiting history!

When visiting the Kentucky Horse Park I have had nothing short of an amazing experience. The Horse Park is in a great and easily accessed location, being right off the highway. The Horse Park has a great show facility. The rings have good footing and are very spacious and well kept. The big grass cross country field is every horse persons dream. Along with the layout of the horse park is really nice with having the horse show on one half and the museum and other activities on the other side. The museum is very easy to get to and has tons of parking. It was also super fun to have the chance to meet the horses that live in the big barn and the people who care for them. It was super interesting to get to walk though the other side of the horse park because I spend most of my time horse showing there. The horse shows are always done so well having food trucks and plenty of fun thing to do other than show! Overall a great experience every time.
Finley E — Google review
Great experience! So much information and learning experiences about the horses. They have a daily schedule that gets followed everyday and is a nice way to plan your visit. You can also visit the various horse barns at any time during the day to visit the horses. The trolley ride was fun and a nice little tour of the park. Admission ticket also includes entry for the next day!

Absolutely loved our visit to the Kentucky Horse Park! It’s one of the most well-organized and family-friendly places we’ve ever been to. Everything is thoughtfully laid out, and it’s very clear how much effort goes into making it enjoyable for both kids and adults. I was so impressed with how they use every barn in a creative way—you can tell they’ve thought about how to turn every part of the park into something entertaining and educational. The museum was a highlight too—super informative, well put together, and beautifully presented. But what stood out the most for me were the people. Everyone working there is incredibly passionate, kind, and genuinely seems to love what they do. They smile, they engage with visitors, and they talk about the horses like they’re family. It made the whole experience so warm. The horses themselves? Huge, clean, friendly, and so well cared for. My kids had the best time petting them, taking pictures, and just being around them. It felt like being on a peaceful, happy farm, and the weather made it even better. We really enjoyed being outside together as a family. One thing I really appreciated was how they honor the horses’ history and origins. They give credit to the countries and places that donated them, and everything is well documented with lots of interesting stories. It adds a deep, respectful touch to the whole experience. Truly, it’s a special place. A must-visit if you’re in Kentucky. So enjoyable from start to finish. 🐴🌿😊
MARYAM — Google review
Going to Kentucky Horse Park was a wonderful experience. The horses were beautiful, well cared for and we were able to pet them. Terrific people available to explain about the horses and answer questions. The museum was filled with all sorts of plaques and various horse-related items. Sandwiches were good at the cafe but I'd pass on the French fries next time. All-in-all a great day trip.
Nan B — Google review
I’m a freshman at the University of Kentucky and recently visited the Kentucky Horse Park for the first time, and it honestly surprised me how big and detailed it is, since then I’ve been back at least 5 times in just a few weeks (mainly for fishing because all water holes are public access). The park isn’t just a few horses in fields it’s got museums, barns, trails, and a campground all in one place. You can walk through different barns that focus on different breeds and learn about the history of Kentucky’s horse culture, which is actually pretty cool even if you’re not super into horses. The shows and demonstrations are fun to watch, and the staff are usually friendly and ready to answer questions. I did notice that depending on the time of day there aren’t always a ton of horses out but there’s still plenty to see. The trails and open areas are peaceful, and it’s a nice break from campus life. It’s worth visiting at least once while you’re at UK to get a feel for what makes Lexington horse country.

The Mary Todd Lincoln House, located in Downtown Lexington, is the historic childhood home of Mary Todd Lincoln, the wife of President Abraham Lincoln. This iconic site offers tours and events for visitors to immerse themselves in the rich history of one of America's most famous First Ladies. The house is adorned with mid-19th century period furniture, family portraits, and Georgian-style architecture. It provides a glimpse into the life and times of Mary Todd Lincoln and her family.
We had a great tour. I love the self guided tours...move at your own pace and take it all in. Just a small complaint..for those of us that love taking historical photos...the signage in the middle of things is just a distraction. Just my thoughts....Other than that great place to visit. And such a comparison from visiting Abe;s log cabin earlier in the day. To the see the stark contrast in how each was raised.
Tony K — Google review
The Mary Todd Lincoln House is a spectacular historic house. The staff was extremely knowledgeable and friendly. My only complaint was that the guided tours are only after 3 pm. So, unfortunately, we did the self guided tour.

A great find! Imagine, finding such a gorgeous house along the main road amongst new modern places. The Mary Todd Lincoln House! They were closed the day we came through, but we were able to check out the exterior and look through the bricked fence at the floral courtyard. The stately brick manor looks especially beautiful with the black shutters. I can just picture the family living here and tending to their everyday life inside their home and in the garden area. We hope to make our way back to KY during open hours to tour the interior. Admission fee for self guided/guided tours. Active military discounts and live performances. Good for kids. Gift shop available. Open Monday-Saturday (Closed Sundays) 10am-4pm *wheelchair accessible entrance and parking lot. Onsite parking and paid street parking.
Dede K — Google review
My wife and I did the self-guided tour. After a thorough introduction by the staff member, we went through the home. Each room was well-identified and the provided (written) description of the room was complete. The gift shop had a broad selection of items at reasonable prices. The staff members were very friendly!
James G — Google review
A nice visit with history. Outside gardens were wonderfully designed. The house has been restored and retains the structure of the original Todd home. I felt the admission was worth supporting the mission of the building and enjoyed the gift shop.

Amazing place to take a trip and visit. The staff were wonderful and very knowledgeable. It was like walking back in time to another way of life. Very well laid out and organized. Can't wait to go back another day!

Very interesting. It's a self-led tour. Stay as long as you like
Peggy S — Google review
Located in the literal heart of downtown Lexington Kentucky is this wonderful historical sight. The docents are very knowledgeable. Extremely interesting to look into the past of the early 1800s. Both the interior and exterior are very well presented and maintained. We enjoyed the "backyard" garden. We highly recommend this niche of Americana. The tour is very well done. Must see.

Raven Run Nature Sanctuary in Lexington is a 734-acre woodland preserve offering 10 miles of marked hiking trails, streams, and diverse wildlife. The sanctuary features various points of interest such as an overlook of the Kentucky River, a historic grist mill site, the headstone of a 19th-century inhabitant, and the Prather Homestead. Established in 1953 to protect bird habitats, it includes educational exhibits on bird species, habitats, migratory patterns, and conservation efforts.
nice trails. The freedom trail was paved and sloped down to the creek. We also did level.parts of the red trail. Never made it to thr rivers edge so I didn't see all the flowers, but I saw a lot. Building has nice bathrooms, lots of taxidermy and info. Maps at the desk. Free entry. Picnic tables near the parking lot.
Wen A — Google review
The nature center was small but the lady working was very helpful with the trail maps. The trails we walked were well kept but still very natural. Easy walks for kids. Not good for strollers. Highly recommend though, really nice place.
Monica E — Google review
This park has always been one of my favorites, so it's crazy that it is my son's first time going. He attended camp here for a day and had the best time. The park is just so beautiful, teeming with wildlife and flora. He enjoyed sampling a few wild blackberries. There are fields, forest, and streams. Truly a beautiful slice of Kentucky. No pets allowed in order to protect the environment.
Jennifer ( — Google review
Raven Run Nature Sanctuary is a true gem just outside Lexington, offering a peaceful retreat into nature and a powerful reminder of the importance of environmental conservation. The trails are well-maintained, clearly marked, and suited for all skill levels, winding through lush forests, meadows, and along a beautiful section of the Kentucky River. The overlook is stunning and worth the hike—especially at sunset. What makes this place special is its commitment to protecting native wildlife and natural habitats. The nature center offers educational displays and programs that inspire both kids and adults to care for the environment. You can sense the dedication to preserving the land’s ecological integrity at every turn. Whether you’re birdwatching, hiking, or simply unwinding, Raven Run encourages a deep appreciation for the natural world. It’s not just a park—it’s a sanctuary in the truest sense. A must-visit for anyone who values nature and responsible recreation.
Timothy F — Google review
This place is awesome. A ton of great trails. Beautiful, quiet, serene. The place is super well taken care of and the maps are easy to real. Check out their FB page or the visitor center to get a schedule of events.
Joseph S — Google review
I went to ravens run on Friday for the first time in a while. I decided to do one of the shorter trails since I didn’t have very much time, but it was definitely still worth it. The trails are very nice there, and it felt good to be able to throw on some music and just walk on the trails for a bit. I think the best thing about Ravens Run is the number of trails they have, and how they are all different from each other. Some of the trails are a lot longer and harder, and the other ones are shorter and a lot easier. Another one of my favorite things about this place is how peaceful it is. Being able to walk on the trails and see all of the gorgeous views and hear the sounds of nature is definitely worth it. I highly recommend that everyone visits here.
A M — Google review
Not too crowded, and very gorgeous! We hiked about 6 miles and barely ran into anybody, even though the parking lot was completely full. They have many different trails with different lengths, and everything loops around, so you can't get too lost.
J R — Google review
Raven Run Nature Sanctuary is an absolute gem in Lexington, but I will warn you to be ready to actually hike. The trails are well maintained; however, there are steep inclines along with uneven terrain making it harder for young kids or older individuals if they aren’t properly prepared. However, if you do go, all the trails are absolutely beautiful and there is a ton of variety, I highly recommend the trails that end up at the Kentucky River overlook because the view is absolutely stunning. However, if you are lucky enough to go there right after a big storm you might even be lucky enough to see their waterfalls, but unfortunately if it was a drier week there likely wouldn’t be any water flow. When I went, I got there around the middle of the day and there was still plenty of parking and I didn’t see anyone else on the trails, I also went into the visitor's center and the people in there were extremely helpful and gave my friend and I amazing recommendations for a trail to go on. Overall, if you are looking for a more intense set of trails, I recommend checking out Raven Run.

The Aviation Museum of Kentucky, established in 1995 at the Bluegrass Airport, offers over 12,000 square feet of exhibition space and features an aircraft restoration shop and a library. Visitors can explore historic aircraft, try their hand at piloting in flight simulators, and view captivating aviation industry photographs. The museum is a great escape from horse-themed attractions and offers an educational experience for aviation enthusiasts. Children can marvel at authentic aircraft and interactive displays while learning about the history of human flight.
Thank you to the docents for all the information & the volunteers that keep up the facilities, gift store and the airplanes! ✈️ Very informative such as the first flight in Kentucky, had a great time.
RON S — Google review
They have so many neat and historical exhibits on display here. They have exhibits from the early days of aviation to modern exhibits. All of them are very fascinating and educational. There's many military and commercial aviation exhibits on display. The staff was knowledgeable and friendly. The location next to the airport means you can watch smaller aircraft takeoff.
B A — Google review
Lots of fascinating aircraft and related exhibits on display to enjoy. I had a wonderful conversation with local retired military pilot who flew helicopters and was there every Wednesday to talk to guests. Kids can sit inside several aircraft as well. Only complaint was how warm it was inside the hangers. It was uncomfortable.
John — Google review
I visit Lexington several times a year and finally gave myself a few hours to tour the museum. The staff was very friendly and welcoming. I engaged in conversation with one of the tour guides for a little while about the CF6 display engine. Great variety of static displays with many decades of aviation history represented. I need to revisit so that I can take in more of the smaller displays that I missed. I would like to see a little better variety of items for sale at the gift shop though. Overall, at least 4 stars experience. Give yourself probably 3 to 4 hours to take your time and take it all in.
Jay — Google review
This place had quite a few planes but also a lot of historical memorabilia and information. People who are into aviation, aviation history, and war history will find this place very engaging. They also had activities for small children and some cockpits that you could sit in and manipulate the controls. Staff was very friendly and knowledgeable. You are close enough to the planes to touch them which is uncommon and places like this. I think it is well worth a visit.
Jason H — Google review
Had a great time. We were able to get into a helicopter and a small trainer plane. My boys, ages 5 & 11, would have spent all day. There are nice chairs and seats for the videos while the kids played. Highly recommend
Kristina B — Google review
Very nice indoor facility with two large areas with both more modern and vintage aircraft. Staff were super friendly and knowledgeable. Lots of displays, artifacts, and information. Would recommend a visit if you’re in the area and an aircraft enthusiast.

Traveled for work and this was my only personal stop before leaving and it was a wonderful stop. Got a lovely tour around, you can tell the gentleman giving the tour was passionate and loved to learn as much as he could about planes/helicopters (and other topics, a great space section A great stop. Sad I couldn't have stayed longer but would go back

Waveland State Historic Site is an antebellum plantation in Lexington, offering a glimpse into the city's history. The site showcases the life of Joseph Bryan and his family, as well as the enslaved individuals who worked there. Visitors can explore the Greek Revival mansion, stroll through gardens, and learn about the 1850s hemp industry. The property includes a historic house museum and outbuildings on 10 acres of land.
I have lived in lexington for over 20 years and yet I had never been here before. What a waste of 20 years, this place is awesome! We came after it was closed so only enjoyed the playground and surrounding area but it is SO beautiful. The trail leads right up to the railroad tracks and we got to watch a train go by super close so my son was overjoyed. Beautiful gardens, a cool little swampy pond, historic objects an building's. So much space, I could imagine they host many weddings and events. Cannot wait to come here again!
Jennifer ( — Google review
Waveland historical plantation house in Lexington, Kentucky, was a very nice visit. The guide was a young woman dressed in period clothing. She was very knowledgeable and friendly. It's a toss between Waveland and Ashland, which was the best to us. We love them both for different reasons. The history is deep and rich.
Joseph M — Google review
Simply beautiful. We catered two weddings there in a month. The venue is gorgeous and perfect for events. They have a building for bathrooms and a barn! Finally took a tour and the lively lady brought the entire family and estate to life. Do not miss this when in Lex!

Our tour of Waveland was amazing. Kennedy was fantastic. She took time to answer questions and was very personable. We arrived at a time that is usually between tours but Kennedy took her own personal time to give us a tour. She was one of the best tour guides we have ever had. Thank you Kennedy.

Historic site by Daniel Boone's relatives. Tour inside was not available at my hour of visit but grounds are open from dusk to dark. Playground, gardens, and some unique buildings. Fitting tribute to the enslaved people who helped build and run that place.

A hidden gem, must see! Kathy, our guide was amazing. She has been working here for 15 years, and is so knowledgeable. We were the only two people for a 10:00 tour, and found her information so thorough and engaging, that our tour went for an hour and a half. The Mansion interior is gorgeous. And unlike many tours, where the furnishings and items are behind a roped off area, here one is able to walk right up nose to nose with all of the furnishings and relics to really get a great view of them and tremendous pictures too. Kathy was also very gracious in posing for many pictures in her beautiful purple period costume. The collection included several items which I had never seen before, for instance: a sewing bird ( combo pin cushion, thread snipper, and fabric clamp ), candle wick cutter, outdoor crank water pump, and an incredible collection of plastic fake foods in the kitchen and dining room.

Keeneland Association Inc, located in Lexington, Kentucky, is a renowned thoroughbred horse racing course and farm with a rich history dating back to 1875. It is known for hosting a variety of races throughout the year, including prestigious events like the Breeder's Cup Classic as well as lesser-known but significant races such as the Spring Fling Handicap Race for 3-Year-Olds.
Very interesting place. My daughter and I and two of my grandkids went to check out the place. We heard in the morning between 6-10 you can go watch the horses get exercised. We got to talk to a few of the people who worked there and even got to pet one of the horses. Learned several things about race horses. They find it hard to get weight on them since they are so active. The horses drink 15 gallons of water a day and eat at least 15 lbs of food a day. I loved watching them a lot and learned a lot. You have even have breakfast at the race track kitchen.

Fascinating tour and introduction to the world of horse racing. I had no idea as to the complexity and tradition behind this historical way of life. You can walk through on your own but I would not have gained the appreciation for all that goes into this organization had it not been for the tour and our gracious guide, Carol Sue.

Awesome place for kids on saturdays in October! 8a-10a it’s FREE, watch the horses practice! Kids games, arts and crafts, fun giveaways, stickers, concessions, good place to relax, chill and enjoy the track! They have the headless horseman walking the concourse once during that time! The bathrooms are heated so it’s nice during the cold months October through march. YouTube: Taylor Grayson 33 headless horseman for video!

Awesome place to visit! You can visit the track for free every morning to view the morning workouts until 10am! Absolutely beautiful track and grounds. You are also able to walk throughout the grandstands and tour the property on your own. Very nice!

What a fun day trip! Tips for visiting: 1. There are guys that will teach you how to read the program and how to make smart bets. 2. Wait to see the horses and the jockey before you bet. They will walk outside the betting area. Get a vibe for how they are doing today. 3. You can bet $1+ for any race. Bring cash. 4. They will ask you, what race, and what horse number, and how much your bet. Look at your ticket, to make sure they have you what you paid for. I trusted the person heard me correctly and it was the wrong horse. I was upset, but I also should have looked at my ticket. 5. You can bet for a horse to “Win” (1st place), or “show”1st, 2nd, or 3rd). I enjoyed betting to win on a long shot who looked good or had a solid name, and then bet on a horse with solid trainers/ owners and better odds to place. Find your own rhythm, but this was exciting to me and I won twice.

Bluegrass, Breakfast, and a $2 Bet 🍂 October in Lexington means crisp mornings, thundering hooves, and a whole lot of heart at Keeneland. Between Sunrise Trackside coffee and paddock tours, autograph signings with legends in silks, and Heroes Day tributes that hit you right in the chest—this month’s race meet is more than sport. It’s tradition, adrenaline, and community stitched into every stride. I’ve never gambled in my life, but I might just take the plunge and make a two-dollar bet. 😆 Lucky Shot’s got long odds and a name that feels like a dare. Planning my perfect Keeneland day: • ☕ Start with coffee and morning workouts at Sunrise Trackside • 🐎 Meet the horses in the paddock at 8:30 a.m. • ✍️ Grab a jockey autograph at the North Terrace • 🎖️ Salute our heroes on October 19 • 📱 Download the Race Day app for picks and replays • 💸 Maybe—just maybe—place that first bet The Breeders’ Cup is calling next fall, but October’s already galloping with magic. #KeenelandFallMeet #LexingtonKY #HorseRacingTradition #SunriseTrackside #HeroesDay #JockeyLife #BreedersCup2026 #LuckyShotBet #TwoDollarPlunge #BluegrassStrong #NeverGambledButMaybe #KeenelandVibes

This was a lot of fun. Keeneland is a great experience. We walked around the beautiful property. It was interesting to learn about betting on the horses. The staff were very friendly. It got really busy in the afternoon. Consider taking an Uber, the parking lot is a little crazy.

The Arboretum, State Botanical Garden of Kentucky, sprawls across 100 acres on the University of Kentucky's campus. It features a diverse collection of plants and trees representing each of the 7 physiographic regions of Kentucky. Visitors can explore formal gardens, natural areas, and horticulture display gardens while strolling through the Walk Across Kentucky or admiring the rose gardens. The site also includes the engaging Kentucky Children's Garden for young nature enthusiasts.
The arboretum is so beautiful and a good size, not too big or small. It’s well maintained and plenty of easy walking paths. There’s no admission to the main garden but we would love to have gone to the children’s garden but it was closed the day we went. We had a wonderful time and would highly recommend it while you’re in Lexington.

The gardens are absolutely beautiful. The insects, birds, and rabbits are everywhere. It's well maintained and the staff is very friendly. It's free and fun for the whole family. There are numerous paved paths for walking, jogging, or taking the kids for a stroll. The trees are absolutely gorgeous.

The arboretum is a beautiful place, and it makes for an amazing opportunity for you to step away from your daily stressors. Especially with it being so close to the University of Kentucky, it's a great place to go right before a big exam to take a break from studying. The first time I ever went there was right before one of my chemistry exams and I have to say before going there I was an absolute mess but after being able to spend time in nature I was able to take a deep breath and realize everything was going to be okay. They also have a very touching statue of a flock of birds flying away to commemorate the lives lost in a plane crash which happened in 2006, which is a very tragic yet beautiful sculpture which adds a touch of history to the landscape. If you have any extra time, I would 100% recommend giving the arboretum a visit.

A Green Oasis in the Heart of Lexington The Arboretum, officially the State Botanical Garden of Kentucky, is a 100-acre treasure located right on the edge of the University of Kentucky campus. It is widely praised as a beautifully maintained, free-to-enter public space perfect for escaping the city bustle and connecting with nature. The standout feature is the Walk Across Kentucky, a paved, two-mile loop that guides visitors through living collections representing the state's seven major physiographic regions, from the Bluegrass to the Mississippi Embayment. This educational and scenic path is ideal for walking, jogging, or a leisurely stroll. The paved trails make it highly accessible for strollers and wheelchairs, which is a major plus for families. Beyond the main loop, visitors consistently enjoy the specialized areas, including the Home Demonstration Gardens and the serene Arboretum Woods, one of the last remaining examples of Inner Bluegrass woodland. For families, the Kentucky Children's Garden (which charges a small separate admission fee) is a huge hit, offering interactive, hands-on learning environments like a digging pit, a water wheel, and a creek for splashing. Overall, the Arboretum is a must-visit. It's a wonderful, safe, and free destination—except for the Children's Garden—that showcases Kentucky's diverse flora and offers a peaceful setting for people of all ages to enjoy the outdoors. Just be aware that it occasionally closes for UK home football games, so it's wise to check the schedule before visiting on a Saturday in the fall.

Love that this wonderful oasis is available in the middle of the city. Great trees and gardens. We were there at the end of the summer and the garden was close to being spent. I could appreciate all the plants. Will definitely go back at different seasons.

If you like natural beauty, visit The Arboretum at the University of Kentucky. We really enjoyed the relaxed stroll with our daughter and her boyfriend and dog. Wonderful fall weather. Free to the public. Just be aware that during UK home football games the area is also used for tailgating. We went at 11am and were informed that it would close at noon to visitors due to tailgating. We spent a leisurely hour. We could have spent longer but did not want to interfere with festivities, although I doubt they would enforce the timeline. We also visited Keeneland horse track race. If you are in the area, enjoy it!

This place is the reason l love Lexington. A piece of nature in the middle of the city. It even has little trails off the main path that make you feel like you’re in a forest somewhere else. A garden near the middle with cute seating areas, a pond and water features. Grateful to have it!

Historic Walking Areas
McConnell Springs Park is a 26-acre nature sanctuary located in the heart of Lexington, Kentucky. It holds historical significance as the site of the first settlement in Lexington and offers educational programs and events. The park features natural springs, including Blue Hole and Final Sink, along with paved and dirt trails suitable for strollers, walkers, and wheelchairs. Visitors can enjoy picnics amidst native wildlife while exploring the area's geological wonders.
This is one of the more beautiful and scenic parks I have visited that is within a large city. The wooded areas were beautiful and lush when I visited in early May. The boardwalk around the pond makes for a nice chance to see turtles and fish in the pond. I loved exploring all the natural springs and caverns here. The "blue hole" is definitely a spot to check out.

@Aug.2025 Located in the city, easy to access, nice place to take a little walk. Most of the trails are paved and very easy to walk. The first little pond shines in beautiful blue when it’s sunny. There are enough parking spots and welcome center has a bathroom.

McConnell Springs Park is an absolutely gorgeous part of Lexington. I walked into the welcome center fairly early in the morning (right after they opened) and was greeted with super kind staff members that asked if I had any questions. Overall, very friendly staff. The stone walls, log cabin, and bridge were all absolutely stunning and very well built. There were so many turtles in the lake that were just chilling on the logs and swimming around, there was also a really pretty bird I saw chilling by the water watching for fish. The trails are very child friendly, but if you are looking for a more challenging hike, McConnell Springs probably isn’t for you because all of the trails are very wide and well maintained, making them quite easy to navigate. The blue hole was another thing that was definitely worth a visit; the water was very clear and pretty to look at, and at each of the stops along the trail with cool sights, they had helpful signs to tell you what you were looking at. Overall McConnell Springs Park is very pretty and worth a visit if you’re just looking for a non-strenuous stroll in the woods.

Anytime I need to clear my head, McConnell Springs Park is one of the top places that comes to mind. If you're local to Lexington, you definitely need to check it out. It's a hidden gem located in a seemingly industrial area, but once you arrive, you'll start to feel submerged in nature. There's about 25 acres but the actual path is approx 1-2 miles worth of walking. Only downside (for me personally)--no dogs allowed. It's a very peaceful stroll with several areas worth stopping to see. Fun fact: McConnel Springs is a historic site where Lexington was first named by a pioneer, dating back to 1775!
Gabriella R — Google review
McConnell Springs Park is truly a secret spot! It’s in the middle of an industrial area so you would never expect to find such beauty tucked away in the midst of it all. It’s definitely a peaceful escape, with well maintained, easy to navigate walking trails and natural springs that are truly beautiful, the park is definitely worth the trip! I find the scenery to be quite relaxing..especially as the weather cools a bi. The park also highlights the historic significance of the park! The only thing I find to be a con of the park is that it doesn’t allow pets, this isn’t a deal breaker for me as my animals are back home in Louisville, but I do wish all parks were pet friendly, even though I understand why it’s not. The whole space is well cared for and clean both by workers and volunteers alike. While nature is enough to keep me coming back, they also host events like poetry under the trees! McConnell Springs is definitely worth the visit!

This park is a great size for kids. You can get all the way to the end in 10 minutes if you wanted to or spend hours walking around. The springs are really cool, tons of wild flowers, a play area for kids, and a visitor center with bathrooms. There’s a picnic area too if you want to bring a lunch.

I absolutely love coming here and taking a few moments to appreciate what exactly makes Lexington such an amazing little place. Standing quietly amongst the wild flowers and little shaded trails, listening to the water, birds chirping and the industrial complex together is just a really cool thing to experience. It's been a helpful spot to take my kids as a reminder that we can utilize some resources while protecting others. They love watching the turtles bask and it's helped them appreciate the "cuteness" of all earths critters 😅

Ashland - The Henry Clay Estate is a historical site that was once the home of the influential American statesman, Henry Clay. Visitors can take guided tours of the 18-room mansion, which has been meticulously restored to its 19th-century grandeur. The estate's sprawling grounds and gardens offer a picturesque setting for exploration.
This is the beat historical home museum in Lexington! The tour was a well done and the guide was very knowledgeable. Henry Clay was quite the statesman. There's an indoors guided tour as well as a large outdoors green to venture out in.
Joseph M — Google review
We visited on 5/29 around 2-4p. Lady at ticket area was a bit snooty and curt in her demeanor as all four of us in our small group confirmed afterwards. Pricey IMO ($25). No discounts offered other than AAA members. Our tour guide was awesome!
Bernie A — Google review
This place is a real gem, with a beautiful garden and a peaceful area for relaxation amidst the trees. There’s a small parking lot, a gift shop, and a cafe all nestled in historic buildings on the estate. It seems like the main house is only accessible during tours. The garden was absolutely lovely and well-maintained, with plenty of benches to sit and enjoy the estate’s beauty.
Eddie H — Google review
Really cute space- but NOT Henry Clay's home. They do take AAA discounts and student discounts for admission. It was his son who tore the house down and rebuilt it. The guide spent 20 minutes of us just standing in the entry way giving is history. I recommend they put that on video for folks to watch so we don't have to just stand as they take up time rambling on. I could hear others in the group talking and meandering and the guide doesn't get that talking gets old after about 7 minutes. Each room had neat stuff- but again this isn't a history Chanel show that I'm watching and because of the small space can't even see the faces of the folks mentioned. If someone has to use the restroom they have to be escorted through the house and we had 2 in our group that needed restrooms at about the 1 hour mark: which meant they had to call someone each time. Our guide was a little overzealous and mentioned numerous times she was "worried" something would be ruined on the tour. If you need an elevator there is not one and the steps in and out are old and somewhat steep in spots. Some items are said to belong to Henry, and they kept mentioning enslaved . A nice pics of history. Glad I got discount tickets. Not worth $25 adult price within a discount though. Grounds are lovely.
Kelli K — Google review
Wonderful tour. Our guide, a volunteer, clearly loved what she was doing. You could see that she was very proud of Henry Clay as an important statesman in the history of the United States. She was so full of knowledge about his life and the artifacts we were looking at, I left feeling like I knew a lot more about the Clay family. It was a great stop to make in Lexington. The gardens were absolutely gorgeous. The only thing I would suggest to future visitors, is to check the tour time schedule. They aren’t very often and I had to wait for about an hour to start my tour.

Loved my visit to Ashland, The Henry Clay Estate. Our guide made the history feel alive, and the house itself is beautiful with tons of little details to notice. I strolled the shady grounds afterward—peaceful paths and giant trees made it easy to linger. Friendly staff, easy parking, and absolutely worth a stop in Lexington.

The Lexington Cemetery is a must-see attraction, housing the final resting places of notable figures such as authors, horsemen, war heroes, activists, and politicians. The cemetery's natural beauty is also a draw, featuring over 200 tree species and thousands of tulips. Visitors can pay their respects while strolling through the peaceful grounds or admire the stunning winter landscapes and spring blooms. Additionally, it holds historical significance with three sites listed in the National Register of Historic Places.
Beautiful cemetery right off Main Street in Lexington. The cherry blossoms are a big draw every year when they are in bloom. We might have missed peak by a few days, but they were still worth the drive. We did make it a point to go by John Breckenridge and John Morgan's grave. The Morgan monument used to be downtown but was moved to the cemetery.

First time here with family just to look at the cherry blossoms and geese. . Cemetery is huge once inside cherry blossoms were quite in full bloom yet maybe in another 2 weeks but it was a fantastic experience make sure to take lots of pictures. . Cherry blossoms located closer to the middle end sections 47-48 to the left and you can park on the right or further down on the left plenty of space to get your steps in and bring your dog

Love this cemetery. Many old and gorgeous tombstones. Beautiful scenery, lovely ducks/geese. Henry Clay's monument is stunning and perhaps my favorite one that I discovered showed Jesus raising up a man from his grave. Spectacular! Well worth a day's visit.

Beautiful cemetery with well-kept grounds. It was perfectly scenic for a peaceful morning walk. Really enjoyed my time here, and look forward to returning. There is some kind of commercial property toward the back of the grounds (I couldn't tell if it belongs to the cemetery or is a another business), but cars were speeding through the grounds to get to this location. Just something to be mindful of if you're planning a visit.
Erica T — Google review
Lexington cemetery is really beautiful. They have signs on the edge of certain sections that tell you, you are at the grave of someone famous or very important to Kentucky history. Not all famous have those signs. The reason I kept it from 5 stars is the speed limit. 20 mph is way too fast in a cemetery. Speed limit should be around 10, maybe 15. 20 is too fast and people walk around the cemetery with their pets and people don't slow down when passing another vehicle. Can't tell you how many times I encounter an unsafe vehicle at the cemetery during my visit.
Ash M — Google review
We were in Lexington this past weekend for a concert and drove past a cemetery about a mile from our downtown hotel. The next morning as we were leaving town, we decided to spend a little time going through the cemetery. It was the last weekend in October so it was absolutely beautiful. Such rich history and includes the tombs of Henry Clay, the Todd family (Lincoln’s in-laws), and Coach Rupp of Kentucky basketball fame. It also had a national cemetery within its borders as well as an arboretum. If you love old cemeteries, this is a wonderful location to visit if you were in the Lexington area.

The hazy was amazing. I was told that they were the best in Lexington and they didn't disappoint. My wife had a tequila and I double on the Lazerwave. Great beers and the absolute best hospitality, starring the fabulous Mary, tending bar and suggesting the tastiest “pick any five” flight. Trust me, trust her with this weighty decision. If you’re hungry, don’t leave without trying something off the menu at their neighbor, Smithtown Seafood.

An amazing theatre and historical landmark in Lexington, the Kentucky Theatre is one of my favorite places to watch movies. I've been plenty of times and it's always a great experience. The interior is beautiful and has an elegant vintage vibe. Even the entrance has an old school marquee that really sets the stage for the type of theater it is. The screening rooms are always clean and the seating is pretty standard but the halls themselves look amazing. The screen and sound are just as good as any modern theater. The last movie I saw here was Mickey 17 in their main theatre hall and I loved it. They have plenty of concessions and the staff are super friendly. The pricing is pretty good considering what most theaters charge nowadays. I’m already looking forward to my next visit. Overall its an amazing place and a must see if you're visiting Lexington.

This is a really great small museum, even though the primary building is currently closed for renovation. It is very accessible if you have limited mobility. Be sure and note the date and time of opening since it is limited. We went for a specific exhibit of works by Charley Harper. It was very well done. There’s also a very interesting shell grotto built from the collection of one of the original owners of the property. One of the highlights of the permanent collection were a series of very large doll houses from the 1960s owned by the Whitney family. Very intricately designed and furnished.

Truly loved this museum. Many beautiful things see in the jewelry room. We are big fans of Charley Harper so we were excited to see the large display of art. The rooms with mid-century furniture and Charley Harper art was a great idea. The room with miniature homes was amazing too. We also toured the grounds and house with the sea shell collection was amazing. It was a beautiful drive out to the museum.

We came from Bardstown for the Charley Harper exhibit, and it was wonderful! Some pieces were incredibly thought-provoking, others made us laugh out loud. The grounds around Headley Whitney were beautiful!

Such a beautiful Kentucky gem! Right in the middle of some of Kentucky’s, most famous horse farms. Not only do they have a great museum, but they have beautiful seashell grotto and rose-garden on the grounds for you to enjoy.

Wonderful!! A perfect setting for a very large art exhibit. We saw Henry Faulkner’s art which I was unfamiliar with till I saw this exhibit. His art is kind of folk art which I always enjoy. The grounds are beautiful and peaceful. The drive there from Louisville is enjoyable except for the sun in your face from the east on the way and the sun in your face from the west on the way back. Lol The shell grotto is very into see also. Oh we were not allowed to take photos of the Faulkner exhibit or I would have taken some!

The University of Kentucky Art Museum boasts a diverse collection of art, featuring sculptures, decorative arts, paintings, and rotating exhibits. In addition to its permanent collection, the museum hosts temporary exhibitions that showcase various forms of art. The museum is also known for its public art initiatives and street art festivals that bring internationally recognized artists to create large-scale murals in Lexington.
Just the right size for an art museum. It could be bigger, but they have an large number of exhibits that fit the space nicely, and I didn't get tired of art before I was done seeing everything. The current photograph exhibit is a bit weird to me (perhaps a bit forced) but also neat in its own way.
Sam S — Google review
We enjoy it every time we go there. The staff are friendly, the space nice and the exhibits varied. My kids like the elevator the best usually but we're working on that.
Steve H — Google review
The space was smaller than I expected (we visited without knowing anything about it) but I did enjoy a lot of the pieces that I saw. The front desk staff were friendly, and there is a small gift shop in the lobby area.
Clara W — Google review
Very small museum, not a ton of art. They offer free Family Days periodically (once a month?). I've attended twice with my 10yo and 7yo kids. The first time was great, an employee discussed a few peices on display and told us about color theory, after which the kids mixed their own clay colors and made their own sculptures. The second time, a guy gave us blank paper and markers and told us to color. I'll give Family Day another try, but won't be visiting just to see the small collection.
Robyn S — Google review
Nice small gallery. Worth a visit.
Douglas A — Google review
One star, because they had a nice exhibit on pottery that was quite well done. But, in my opinion, the rest of the museum stunk. There was a large collection of photographs of pretty much nothing, most of the pictures looked like pictures you would take by accident and delete from your camera. Some of the artwork was vulgar, that's not art.
Duane P — Google review
Was not anything like we imagined. Very clean open and art was just not what we expected. There was some neat 1000+ year old pottery on display that was amazing. Took us 40 minutes to read what we wanted and restrooms were very clean as well.
David — Google review
Wonderful rotating exhibit areas change often, however; the permanent collection has faded over time and shows signs of serious deterioration/lack of proper care, which is quite disappointing. The entirety of the first floor smells...and smells very bad. I am not sure what the smell is exactly, but it smells....like....I don't know. It smells like urine. I don't know what else to say there, it is pretty rough. Small and lacking care. Pretty much a disappointment on my visit to KY.

Lexington Brewing & Distilling Co, established in 1999, is the oldest brewery in Lexington. It was founded by Irish immigrant Pearse Lyons and has since become a prominent part of the city's brewing scene. The company offers tours and tastings, showcasing its specialty bourbon-barrel aged beers such as coffee stout and vanilla ale. Additionally, it expanded into distilling with Town Branch Distillery, which became the first new distillery built locally in over a century.
I recently did the Brewery and Distillery tour at Lexington Brewing, and it was a terrific experience. Our tour guide Lee was very knowledgeable and entertaining. It was very fascinating to see and learn about the process of making the beers and bourbons that they sell. We got 4 drink tickets to sample the beers or bourbons of our choice. They had a couple of gins as well. They have so many great beers that they brew here. It was a really fun experience.

I had an amazing time at the Lexington Brewing & Distilling Co tour ! The staff was knowledgeable, friendly and made the experience fun and educational. It was really cool to see the entire process up close from brewing to distilling and to learn about the history behind their bourbon and beer. The atmosphere was warm, welcoming and the facility itself is beautiful. Definitely a must stop in Lexington for anyone who enjoys bourbon or wants to experience a genuine Kentucky distillery tour !

I was with a few friends that I met while stationed on my first sea duty assignment aboard the USS Dubuque LPD-8. At the time, the ship was home ported in Sasebo, Japan (about 39 years ago). It was actually our first time getting together since and we decided to tour the facility. We had an amazing experience. Van was our tour guide and he really kept it interesting and fun. We all learned quite a bit about the process and sampled the fine bourbon and ales there. Afterwards, we hit the gift shop to take home a little souvenir and spirits to remember the day. Thanks, Van! It was a great tour.

Fantastic brewery experience! The beer selection was excellent, and the staff were cheerful and helpful throughout. Parking was a bit confusing, but the warm atmosphere and the interesting brewing/distilling history display made it well worth the visit. Left with a few beers to take home — all delicious! 5 plus stars!

Blue Door Smokehouse is a popular BBQ joint in Lexington, known for its no-frills, counter-serve setting and delicious smoked meats. Established nearly a decade ago by two Lexington natives, it offers a variety of succulent smoked meats, classic sides, and sandwiches. The 'Blue Door Special' allows patrons to sample all the available proteins on any given day. This traditional American BBQ spot is perfect for those seeking authentic down-home cooking without the hassle of doing it themselves.
Food was seasoned well, cooked with care and delicious! Slaw with vinegar was tasty, I’d compare it to Smithfield’s Chicken N Bbq (southern US chain restaurant). Seating inside and outside.
Meaghan J — Google review
I got the 2 meat plate with 2 sides. The brisket was surprisingly only okay, pretty dry but not that bad. The sausage was average, not super flavorful. The potato salad had no seasoning at all, it was so bland and boring. The collared greens just tasted like straight vinegar and nothing else. Wish it was better considering all the great reviews.
Nancy G — Google review
Went here with my boyfriend and his brother. I got the pulled pork sandwich with creamy slaw. The meat itself was amazing! The slaw was kind of bland but still good. My boyfriend got the pulled pork plate with collard greens and ranch beans. He gave his food 9/10. And his brother got the brisket sandwich with ranch beans and gave it an 8/10. This is def an amazing bbq place that’s super affordable and I highly recommend it.
Amber S — Google review
Generally my opinion on BBQ is that there are only two levels of quality; good enough and not good enough. It reminds me of a lot of British meals in that respect. People talk about “the best fish & chips” or “the best roast”, but I’ve never really understood it. I’ve only ever had two types of those meals; one I’m enjoying continuing to eat, and one I’m not. With BBQ though, there are a few exceptions, and my binary perspective falls apart further when I haven’t eaten BBQ for a while. Enough of my hand wavy food philosophy! What I’m slowly digging at is, Blue Door is great. It’s not life-changing, but it’s safely in the great category. We got the 2-meat plate (sausage and brisket) with beans and vinegar slaw. The brisket is excellent, textbook melt-in-the-mouth beauty, the kind of thing that would take an Englishman off of his BBQ binary high horse. the sausage left a little bit of flavour and spice to be desired, the coleslaw was pretty good and the beans were great. The house-made sauces were varied, they have a nice vinegar-based one that we both loved, and the habanero sauce is a nice lil spicy surprise to inject just a touch of tex-mex into the meal. I’d go again when my BBQ-meter has reset.
Sam F — Google review
Keep in mind they only open til 3pm on weekdays and often brisket will run out. With that said beef brisket is the number one choice and they give you a nice health cut without hesitation. Baby back ribs is a good alternative. Their sides are a little basic. We visited them twice in three days in Lexington.

Established in 1962 by Alice Headley Chandler, Mill Ridge Farm is a renowned horse breeding farm spanning 286 acres. The farm has a rich history, with its founder inheriting the land and four mares from her father, Hal Price Headley. Notably, the farm had a remarkable 57-year relationship with the Queen of England. Today, it continues to be managed by the family and offers tours where visitors can interact with champion thoroughbred horses.
What a great experience. Michelle did a winderful job sharing the history of the farm and the horses. Hands on with a few horses was really special. The beauty of the farm left a lasting impression.

Really great experience led by our guide Michelle. Really knowledgeable, very friendly. We were able to get up close to many beautiful horses with their foals (not the stallions of course). Fed the mares carrots, scratched/pet the babies. So much fun and interesting history & insights

We decided to go on a horse tour, as we have been to Lexington several times and don’t much about horses or horse racing. We choose to tour Mill Ridge Farm. Our tour guide, Michelle was beyond amazing!!! It was a fairly small group (5 total). Michelle provided very detailed information about the horse industry, horses, and history of Mill Ridge Farm. She answered all of our questions. Michelle introduced us to the Stallions and then we got to feed carrots to the mares.i must add my favorite stallion is Oscar Performance…what a character! After the tour we purchased several items from the gift shop to show our appreciation of Mill Ridge Farm. This was one of the most informative tours I have ever taken. You could say she kept me on the edge of my saddle! Thank you Mill Ridge Farm and Michelle for hosting the tour and all the information we learned!

Our 90 minute group tour of the farm was a highlight of our trip to the Lexington area. Shay (sp?) provided a wealth of information about the history and horses associated with the farm. The property is beautiful and the multiple stops during the tour allowed guests the opportunity to interact with the gentle thoroughbred and feed them carrots! A must-do while in the area and we are glad we planned it into our travel.

Mill Ridge Farm was one of the highlights of our trip to Kentucky that exceeded my expectations. The farm itself was beautiful and well maintained. Our tour guide, Ryn, was very knowledgeable, friendly, and patient. The horses were absolutely amazing, and I had so much fun watching my children having an opportunity to feed and pet horses. We live in the city, so this meant so much to us. I would highly recommend this place to anyone with or without kids. Thank you Mill Ridge Farm for such a unique and wonderful experience.

This tour was absolutely incredible. Michelle was the most amazing guide. 10 stars isn't enough for the knowledge, kindness and joy she brings to the tour. She was so informative with the history of the farm, the family and all the horses. She had all the answers to the verrrrry many questions I had and you could really tell she loved being there and part of the Mill Ridge family. The tour was so hands on and never felt rushed or forced. It was such a surreal experience to see award winning horses, feed them carrots, learn about their champion offspring and pet all the mares and babies. I got so many great pictures and memories that will last a lifetime. I started recommending the tour to my friends as soon as I got back into my car before I even left the farm. Loved it so much. Thank you!

Cute local restaurant in the heart of Lexington’s horse country. Decorated with jokey silks and a very country store like vibe. Service was great. Very nice people. I ordered the chicken tenders basket. Very flavorful but a bit overcooked. The fries were way too salty for my taste but still good and crunchy. The have some amazing looking desserts but we didn’t partake.

Time of visit: 11:10 A.M. The KY Colonel Boy is very good. It's a bit hard to eat on the roll since it's a big sandwich. (The roll is very good though). The coleslaw could use a bit more seasoning for a better punch rather than onions overpowering it. There's a LOT of flies around. Just around my table there was 7-9. I know people leave doors open, but I feel like before they open they should try to kill some? As i walked up to the counter there was about 4 circling the dessert area. Overall, good place to eat. I'd just cover your food when you get your drinks.

We had dinner during the special “tomato festival”. Here is a picture of the tomato I was served. I showed my sandwich to the cashier, she didn’t replace it, she didn’t say she was sorry and she gave me a cornbread cookie, as a token of apology, that was also unappetizing. We also had other cookies that tasted as if they were cooked in an oven that had burning food scraps the bottom. The tomatoes were to be heirloom and you can see from the picture it is not heirloom.

Thoroughbred Park, located at the intersection of East Main Street and Midland Avenue in Lexington, Kentucky, is a small but beautiful outdoor museum and cultural landmark. The park features a dozen life-size bronze statues of horses, including the thoroughbred stallion Lexington, as well as over 40 plaques dedicated to prominent figures in the Kentucky horse industry. Visitors can enjoy the serene water fountain and vibrant flower gardens while strolling through the park to admire the magnificent horse sculptures.
This is a fun stop on your way through Lexington. The statues are beautifully detailed, and the park is rich with the history of impactful individuals who shaped this industry. You can take a stroll around and see more statues and read these plaques. The park was quiet, and beautifully done.

The statues and fountain were neat to see. The problem we encountered while there was a family swimming in the fountain. They had their dog tied around one of the lights and all it did was bark while a little boy splashed everything. Then a lady that is with said boy gets in the water wearing only her bra and puts a kitten in to swim. All this is taking place under the do not swim sign. Then at the other end, there was a couple dry humping at the mini horse statue. The whole visit was a great family experience. There is a cool park right across the street we retreated to and spend about an hour there

Our hosts were friendly & gave an informative presentation; they also provided us with a delightful lunch from DV8 Kitchen. We went on a toasty tour 🥵 & in my opinion, there wasn’t anything aesthetically pleasing about the campus, from the outside anyway. Huge public research university; undergrad & grad students it’s like 36,000 folks!! 🤯

The school does everything they can to cost the students (basically their parents) as much money as possible. The meal packages are designed to cost dorm residents the maximum possible. They offer meal plans to students living off campus that are better and cheaper than plans available to students living on campus. 175 anytime meals that don't expire for $1600 per semester for off campus, compared to 10 meals per week for 16 weeks (160 meals total) for $2050 to students living in a dorm, and the meals expire at the end of every week if not used. This is just one example of their predatory practices. They know every angle on how to extract money from the parents, while telling the parents they cannot talk to them about their child, and the child needs to make all requests for changes or information etc. They take advantage of barely adults because they know basically kids don't know any better and usually do not follow through on things.

UK Pediatrics was amazing! My daughter needed emergency surgery, so we were transferred here and they were absolutely the best doctors and nurses I've ever seen in a hospital. And believe me, I've spent a LOT of te in many different hospitals in my life. Her surgical and recovery doctors and nurses were so kind and had impeccable bedside manners. HIGHLY RECOMMEND, especially for your precious little ones. It's already stressful and painful as a parent to see your child suffering, it makes a world of difference to have doctors and nurses with kind and patient attitudes towards their patients and their parents/families. Also, the care they took with my child was amazing!! They stayed on top of her vitals and pain management wonderfully. Again, HIGHLY RECOMMEND this hospital and their amazing staff! Thank you from the bottom of my heart for taking care of my child! ❤️

My daughter had a field trip from her high school to UK today. She was blown away at the art department. Very impressive. She made an aluminum casting and it was not ready for her to take home when it was time to leave back to High School 120 miles away. They said to come back at the end of the day and it would be ready. She asked me to stop by on my way home. I arrived a little late and found the building locked up. Then a department head Ruth Adams came out of the building on her way home. I explained our situation and how far it was to come back and how impressive my daughter found her program. Ruth was very sympathetic to our problem. She stopped from going home and immediately began to help us. After she called one of her amazing Staff members who was already on the road home and asked him to turn around and come back to help us retrieve my daughters art. I told her that she did not need to go so far to help us. I hate that our issue delayed two people from starting their weekend later in the night. Ruth and Vinny could not have been more helpful and professional. The UK art department should be proud that their department head Ruth Adams and Co worker Vinny were representing UK at the highest level. I would recommend any institution that handles a trivial request for help with so much care and class. They are the best examples of exemplary service that people desire but rarely achieve. Everyone should go to UK. Thank you.

Incredible staff, from valets to doctors-professional top to bottom. Easy to find, clear directions, accurate maps, and hands down the best doctors in Kentucky. Always worth the drive, for the best.

So many people showed up for the LOTR orchestra event on Nov 8. There were no signs up about the cancelation. Only one email sent two weeks ago about it and that was a very small window in order to request a refund. Nobody on site for help. People just wandered the building until somebody dug through their emails. Nothing on the website. Absolutely terrible communication. We came from over two hours away.

The Lexington Opera House, a grand performing arts center dating back to 1887, offers a diverse range of entertainment including opera, ballet, concerts, and shows. Situated just a short walk from the Central Bank Center, this stunning theater provides an immersive experience with its historic charm. Despite facing challenges in the past, it continues to captivate audiences with its timeless allure.
Lovely place to see a concert. We were quite surprised at the intimate venue and the food seating. Not sure how it looks from the balcony, but but main floor was good.

We came for a Burton Cummings concert and thoroughly enjoyed it. The opera house is a small venue with comfortable seats and friendly, helpful staff. There are no bad seats in this place. It looks to be well maintained and very clean. The acoustics were very good. Recommended!

I bought tickets for a comedy show to see Eddie Griffin perform. It is an older venue that is historic in Lexington I believe. Tickets were pricey for working-class people on a budget but also very reasonable for the act I believe. I grew up watching him on TV and comedy specials, so for a little under 250 with parking is a steal in my eyes. Security was on point and was focused on their jobs. The drink and snacks are quite pricey but we all know that's expected for a night out. The seating was adequate for an average-sized person but if you are tall or larger in width it might be tight fitting. You will have to stand up to let folks walk to their seats in your row, so that's something to think about when purchasing tickets. Middle is always the best I think. The ambiance is very nice and relaxing, allowing you to mingle/network or just focus on the person/people you came with. Overall, I would recommend visiting this location again. The experience was smooth and it's in a prime location for you to go out and enjoy our city of Lexington!
JG L — Google review
I love the old money feel of the decor! The staff is very helpful. The sound can get a bit distorted at the top level during concerts, but it's worth going anyway.

Randy Travis and his beautiful wife on stage with James Dupre' . The Lexington Opera House never disappoints! Friendly staff, great little snacks, beer and wine. The architecture is unbelievable! And ... you guessed it, CLEAN bathrooms, y'all!!

ZERO customer service. My wife bought us CCR revisited tickets for our anniversary since I am a fan. The day before, my wife got sick and we couldn't go. I tried using the website to resell my first row aisle seats, but the feature was "not turned on". I made many phone calls that day and the day of the concert, but there is no live person to talk to on weekends. The seats went unused. I emailed customer service twice asking for a response, no reply either. Instead I get multiple emails asking how I enjoyed the show. Thanks for the memory Lexington Opera House.
Greg F — Google review
It was awesome! The only problem wasn't the venue - it was all the people talking (so loudly!) during the performance. Kind of a bummer, but what can you do. We were there for acoustic Bryan Martin and Brantley Gilbert. The venue was amazing. Very pretty, comfortable seats, and looked like there wasn't a bad seat in the house.

Farms
Old Friends Thoroughbred Retirement Farms, located in Georgetown, Kentucky, is a sanctuary for retired thoroughbred horses. Established in 2003 by Michael Blowen after learning about a former Kentucky Derby winner's tragic fate, the farm has since rescued and retired over 200 horses. Described as a "living-history museum of horse racing," it offers tours where visitors can meet these majestic animals with remarkable careers. The farm covers 236 acres and provides a peaceful retirement home for these beloved creatures.
I don't know much about horse racing, but you don't need to, as you receive a very interesting and informative (not boring at all!) Our tour guide was is knowledgeable, informative and eager to answer questions, no need to have "insider knowledge." On the tour the introduce you to these beautiful and very different, in personality and story line, race horses. While the guide talks and answers questions, we get to feed the horses carrots! It's a fantastic experience.
Michelle P — Google review
A must see for anyone that admires horses...especially racehorses. Silver Charm turned down shredded carrots and doesn't have many teeth yet, so if you want to visit him, go soon. Touch Gold is the same age. Lava Man looks fantastic. The tours are informative and give you a chance to feed carrots to your horse heros.

This is a very special place that truly lights your soul. These horses, Derby winners or not, they are ALL incredible and Old Friends offers us the privilege to say “hello” and engage with them all the same. The horses welcome visitors and we are provided with the opportunity to feed them carrots or Mrs. Pastures cookies. The horses are grateful and graceful with all visitors. We visited five days ago and I cannot stop wishing we were able to be back there in those special moments with those “Old Friends”. Great for your heart, good for your soul and they now sell whiskey to take home ;)
Amanda L — Google review
If you love horses or horse racing or just walking on beautiful grounds you have to go here. Multiple famous horses are enjoying their retirement here and you can feed them carrots what's not to love? Our guide was super informative and did a great job telling us the history. My favorite part though was getting to know their personalities. I really loved Lavaman I'll have another and alpha (who deserves the hall of fame ) but every one of them is a very good boy and deserving of all the carrots. Couple of things you don't meet the mares. Wear comfy walking shoes or boots and leave yourself plenty of time to enjoy the farm. Cute little gift shop there too. Highly recommend as a must do attraction.
Trey T — Google review
I am a life-long racing fan and Old Friends is the promised land. A place I happily drive a few hours to spend time with the heroes of my youth and not-so-distant past. Derby winners Silver Charm, I'll Have Another and Big Brown top the roster as famous retirees, but the real gems can be found on a private tour with the founder of the farm, Michael Blowen. On our most recent visit, we visited with Green Mask, Awesome Gem, Bold and Bossy (a truly amazing horse), and the last horse bred by Secretariat's owner, Penny Chenery - Groundshaker. A recent addition to the farm is a continuous loop video of Old Friends residents running their races - home stretch after home stretch - showing the athleticism and heart of these magnificent creatures. I love getting to feed carrots to the likes of Lava Man, Game On Dude, Little Mike, Alpha, and all the others as a way of saying "thank you". Visit this farm and support the work Old Friends is doing by ensuring a safe and happy retirement to these equine athletes.

Charlie Brown was our tour person. He was outstanding, so knowledgeable and lotsa personality. Meeting all the “Old Friends” was a treat in itself. We were fortunate to be on a golf cart. Cafe
Located near Transylvania University, Third Street Stuff is a vibrant and funky coffeehouse and retail shop known for its unique gift selection and delicious offerings. The colorful decor, made from recycled materials, adds to the eclectic atmosphere. The menu features a variety of plant-based coffee options, including different roasts of black coffee, herbal teas, and lattes with plant milks. For those who prefer dairy, there are tasty sandwich options like grilled cheese and The Veggie.
What a vibe! They serve delicious slices of cake, pretty nice and also very delicious options of bagels, and coffee that’s always well-brewed and balanced. The place is visually wild, in the best possible way. There’s so much to look at, from the funky decor to the colorful chaos that somehow feels perfectly intentional. A beautifully organized mess, and I say that with love!

Really cool place. Great coffee. Service a little slow but very kind and they were busy. The salmon bagel was nothing like a normal lox bagel I'd get from the northeast but thats on me. Id try a different bagel next time.

Third street stuff is one of those places I would revisit again and again just for the atmosphere. Right as you walk in you are met with a very welcoming and cozy environment. There is plenty of seating including worn down old looking couches, the best ones and next to them i spotted some board games welcome to customers to use, how fun. The interior also includes many beautiful art murals inside and out. I love the personality the place has, it not only sells coffee and baked goods but also plenty and plenty of handmade crafts including socks, jewelry, wallets, stickers, pins and bags etc. When I went the place was packed with people studying, eating and just hanging out and I think this is the perfect spot of all three. If i had to recommend a coffee spot for someone new in lexington i would definitely refer them to this super underrated spot.

True gem. Lots of fun stuff to buy. Really tasty coffee drinks. Pistachio cake is de vine. Touches of Orange cream in the icing. Friendly staff. If you are one who can't handle rainbows? Perhaps there are other places. However, no aggression AT YOU TO COMPLY! At All. More like a hug than a fist, without any questions as to where they are politically. Third Street Stuff is the most colorful and unique coffee shop in Lexington! I absolutely LOVE the vibes here. The walls are covered in beautiful paintings and photos, and they always have very friendly staff. This shop has a very creative and welcoming vibe. It’s a great spot to chill and do homework or just hang out with friends! During my last visit, I ended up talking to a traveler, and we shared our stories of visiting Malaysia, which made my experience even more memorable. The drinks are great (especially the lattes!), and they have food options as well. I personally love their outdoor seating area; they have lots of plants and little birds, and it’s a very peaceful spot to hang out. The outside of the building is also covered in colorful art and murals, giving it a warm and inviting atmosphere. Third Street Stuff feels like a place where everyone belongs, and it’s absolutely worth a visit!

My undergrad college was right next to Third Street Stuff, so this has been a favorite spot for me for a long time. Great range of coffee drinks and pastries. Lots of seating indoors and outdoors. The "stuff" section has gotten smaller over the years, but there are still lots of cool gifts and items for purchase. They've added a large loose-leaf tea selection since I was last there. Their seasonal drinks are always worth checking out. Staff is consistently friendly. Soooo much personality in the space--it's a great place to spend some time. Definitely worth stopping by if you're in the the Lexington area.

I had the skellington (Mac nut, cinnamon dust, vanilla) iced coffee- it was super refreshing and just sweet enough while stilling having the coffee undertone. So I highly recommend the coffees here- At the same time the atmosphere and costumers here exhibit the values that the shop values (diversity, freedom of expression). I would also recommend the Transy- it’s super refreshing and yummy if you’re looking for a hearty, savory sandwich try it out!
Jeremyah C — Google review
A warm, welcoming, eclectic coffee shop, this place maintains an aura of the mid-90s but stays up to date and current with worldy events. A fun space to spend time with others or to study, there's even a board game corner and local items for sale, amongst other things. And while there isn't anything fancy about their coffee (no pour-over or anything), it's still delicious and smooth. I will be back for sure.

Food & Drink
Located in Lexington, Kentucky, the James E. Pepper Distillery is a historic site dating back to the 19th century that has been restored and now operates as a working distillery. Visitors can take a tour of the building to learn about its fascinating history and sample some great bourbon. The distillery also offers an in-depth tour where visitors can learn about the unique process of crafting their spirits.
My wife and I stopped by for a tasting. The tasting room is small, but most people were coming through for tours, so we had places to sit. The story of the distillery is really cool, and there is a lot of history. The current owners have restored the original distillery building on the original site, and it now houses various restaurants and shops, inside the various parts of the old distillery building, which is really cool. It's a really popular area overall now sitting right next to a river. My favorite pour was from their special edition decanter series.

Great tour, informative and fun. Will, our tour guide, was funny and kept the tour flowing and lots of cool information. We tried the mash and the high wine which was a wonderful to try the different levels of distillation. The bourbon and rye were delicious, great product with an incredible history. Highly recommend scheduling a tour and tasting, you won't regret it.

We visited this distillery a couple of weeks ago. Kira was our guide and did a great job. The tour was informative and Kira was knowledgeable. However, the tour itself was pretty typical and didn’t really stand out from other tours we have went on. They do have a new(ish) outside Bar called Ella’s Patio Bar so even if you don’t do a tour you can still partake in their bourbon. I believe the hours of Ella’s is limited.

If you love history, this is your tour. Pepper is a small craft distillery. This was our first tour and I’m glad it was. It is not overwhelming. If you get the amazing Kaylee as a guide, you are going to get a thorough understanding of the process from the grain selection to the end product. Also a great story that is over 200 years old. Kaylee set the bar very high for all our other tours through KY.

J.E.P. Distillery's 4-year aged, 100% rye, barrel proof whiskey is stupendous ($68). We went to James Pepper Distillery for the tour at noon. Inside the "showroom", there were excellent adornments, quality bar, and premium shelving for their stock of whiskeys. Slade, our tour expert, gave us a vivid history of Jas Pepper and his wife's involvement in the early years through its bankruptcy to now its current ownership by Amir Peay, a well known bourbon ambassador. Throughout the clean facility tour, we were greeted by the warm yeast mash of the pot stills, interesting differences between corn/rye/barley in fermentation, and had a few samples of their rye-based and corn-based whiskeys. I would gladly go again if I had a group of my friends.

Upon arrival we toasted with their Classic Old Fashioned and it was great way to start our visit. I really liked the history portion of this tour and “B” was a great tour guide. Good variety of ice cream options here 🍦 Not so many parking spots available since all the businesses share the main lot, but whatever because it's free :) I got a dirt cup and my girlfriend got a cookie dough scoop. The upstairs area was closed and I didn't get to explore it. Good place for ice cream, they just get a little busy sometimes.

The Bourbon & Honey ice cream at Crank & Boom is so good it honestly surprised me. You get that smooth, creamy texture with just the right kick of bourbon and a touch of sweetness from the honey. It’s the kind of flavor you can’t stop thinking about after the first bite.

Crank and Boom Craft is the best place to get ice cream in Lexington or even the best desert in general! My favorite things about crank & boom are that it is in the distillery district area and it is so nice to come after a lunch or dinner from one of the surrounding restaurants. The staff are always super sweet and always recommend flavors to me when I ask them. The recommendations have never disappointed and I always have a wonderful customer service experience. If you’re looking to go and check it out my personal favorite flavor is strawberry balsamic! I love sitting outside on a nice warm day with my friends or family and enjoying my favorite ice cream from crank & boom. Even on a stormy or frigid day they have plenty of seating inside and even a photo booth in their upstairs lounge! Crank and boom is my go-to on any day and I highly recommend checking it out.

I had a Sunday and it was DELICIOUS! HOWEVER, I also purchased a pint of dairy free ice cream, and it had gone bad. Their freezers were not working and they relocated the pints, so my guess is that during that transition some went bad and I got one. I called to tell them what happened and their reaction was less than helpful! Very disappointing!

We’ve been here a quite a few times. It’s always super busy on the weekends. The ice cream is great and they have some unique flavors that are definitely worth a try. My favorite is the S’mores sundae. They have an incredible dark chocolate flavor but it’s usually sold out behind the counter so if they have it then your in luck. They do usually have pre-made pints in the fridge, so if there’s any flavors you really wanted but they run out, check there!

Security manager is very rude !! Upon arrival on Derby day they made us park in the grass. Well it’s raining. So yes we are stuck !! When we asked for help we were told no. Call a tow truck he said. Tow truck is $150 minimum !! 3 females trying to push a Tahoe !! Folks working at the Red Mile won’t even try to help us. Fortunately other patrons are in the mud and rain with us trying to help. I have never been treated so badly from a business such as this. I know I won’t be back if I can ever get out of this parking lot !!

Stopped by Red Mile on a Saturday night and had a great time overall. The place was buzzing but not chaotic, and there’s a wide mix of “slot-style” machines so it’s easy to bounce around and keep things interesting. Drinks were reasonably quick to arrive, and the place felt clean despite the crowds. Bottom line: if you’re looking for a lively weekend spot to play and maybe catch some races, Red Mile delivers.

The concerts and bands were really good. Mainly went for Red Clay Strays. I think you should allow people to bring small camping chairs as me and my wife both have rashes now from sitting in the grass at the event all day. Also the over serving of alcohol at the event kind of surprised me I saw so many people drunk by 3pm it was crazy. We were even worried about a guy who kept passing out and drooling from his mouth where he’d been over served and no one approached him

I enjoy the New York style pizza at Grimaldi’s at Fritz Farm. My order is always the same: lunch special that includes a giant slice of pizza and a small chopped salad. Coal fired oven pizzas are the best way to cook a thin crust.pie. I guess a small tub of garlic butter would put my slice over the top, but I never think to order it. One of the few pizza restaurants in Lexington on that offers a salt shaker full of garlic powder to sprinkle on your pie. I know it’s not for everybody, but it works for me. I’m often baffled that there is not a heavy lunch crowd when I dine here. The $10.99 deal for a giant slice of cheese or pepperoni pizza, chopped or Caesar salad, and a drink is really a great deal on weekdays. It’s tasty and perhaps curbs my consumption to one slice. The cheese pizza does have the correct ratio of sauce to cheese. I can taste both with each bite. This is really a good pizza joint. The NYC vibe is fun, and even include great background music to enhance the experience. I try to dine here at least once or twice a month.

I swear, The Summit is less of a mall and more of our family and friends meeting spot. I’m not even kidding, half the time we don’t buy anything and we just come here to walk laps, grab food, and spend the afternoon just being there It’s definitely become my go to for spending weekends because is vibe is always amazing. My favorite store to shop in is Brandy Melville and i love the cute clothes they have. The outdoor area is also amazing for strolling and talking which is where a lot of my best memories with friends have been made. The combination of great food options and the perfect atmosphere is why we choose to spend so much time her. It’s clean, well lit, and they got every kind of food you could want. I give it five stars, though getting a decent parking spot on a busy Saturday hard but honestly its worth the fight for the parking spot

Definitely my favorite place around Lexington. Get your nails done, grab brunch with the girl's, or head to Blue Sushi for possibly the best quality sushi around (Happy Sushi is definitely up there too!). If you stop at Blue Sushi, get the hot rock steak appetizer, it's delishhhh!
Stephanie S — Google review
The Summit is way over priced and over hyped. Not for everyone's budget. The stores/restaurants are always turning over probably due to high leases. Parking is a nightmare. The covered parking deck near Texas de Brazil is always taken up by the Henry residents, so it is slim pickings. The back parking lot is always got spots but not always close to where you want to go. The traffic in there is a nightmare. At the entrance Incoming traffic does not stop, but no one seems to get the memo, surprised there has not been a bad wreck. There are one ways that people drive the wrong way down, so as a pedestrian you better watch out. People run the stop signs constantly and the parallel parking - it is bad idea because the majority of the population cannot seem to figure out how to do it. Probably will not frequent the Summit after living in the back for 2 years I have seen enough. Nothing much there that I cannot live without. The security there is a joke. No one should feel safe just because they are lurking in their little truck or golf cart. Crime happens here too, don't let them fool you, they like to keep it hidden and preserve their high end shopping experience.

Great Megan had great customer service she made it very enjoyable a great experience I will be coming back because of her. She was patient with us seeing what my wife wanted (she is picky) but I glade she was patient and very kinda.

I was visiting for a funeral and had a fantastic experience. The lady behind the counter offered me and my husband (who was outside inside our car waiting for me) sample chocolates. The chocolates were delicious I even got my puppy a little treat. I recommend this place!
Violet L — Google review
Did someone say free Chocolate SAMPLES?!! The service I received was super helpful and I got to try local favorites. I walked out with a whole bunch of little two-pack chocolates for a my coworkers. This place has plenty of parking and has a really warm and inviting atmosphere. Also, way more than just chocolate, can make a really cute gift basket with lots to choose from.

The shop is clean and meticulously decorated. The staff are very friendly and helpful. My favorites are the Kentucky Derby milk chocolate mint and the Buckeyes. Never had chocolate dipped grapes until now. They gave me a sample to try and I was instantly hooked. I was able to bring the chocolate dipped grapes on board back to North Carolina in my carry-on. They also have yogurt dipped milkbone which my pup loved!

The smell of chocolate hits you immediately as you walk in! Its a wonder why Id never been into this shop before. I had no idea how big it was on the inside and how many different treats they had. They are on the expensive side but that is why you get for fancy chocolates and sweets. The chocolate covered grapes are a favorite in my circle and well worth the cost.
Annabel M — Google review
Used to love coming here, went the other day with my boyfriend and the two ladies behind the counter were having a rather loud conversation in which I overheard “it’s like the 60’s all over again, I can never tell anymore”… considering we were the only two in the store and we’re a gay couple that felt a little odd along with their tone whenever we checked out. If the prices weren’t a good enough reason for me to stop shopping there that interaction really sealed the deal.
Parker — Google review
WORST FIRST EXPERIENCE EVER. we have been so excited about going to this place for the first time. My husband and son-in-law went as a treat for my daughter and myself to surprise us The chocolate are good. But for what they spent in this place for a lady to be disrespectful and rude we will never be back it is not worth it at all. She comes up to my husband as she notices that he is going to buy stuff rudely says well if you would like to try a chocolate-covered grape I would offer you a chip but as I can tell he's already grabbed one. It was a sample. I told my husband he shouldn't have bought nothing NOT WORTH IT.
Angel D — Google review
Old fashioned chocolate place with a variety of chocolate option in a bunch of different shapes available plus traditional candy like fudge and bourbon balls as well. However, the prices have gone up and is quite expensive. Candy on sale is pretty good so go after holiday.

The distillery offers guided tours and tastings for visitors to learn about its production process.
Stopped in on a whim as we were passing thru Kentucky. Definitely worth the stop. Went on the tour and tasting with Del. The tour was very bourbonesque. We came on a day where nothing was happening, but it was still a fantastic tour. After that we stopped in the bar for an amazing drink and some awesome food. 10 out of 10 would recommend. The staff was great and welcoming.

We did a tour and tasting then enjoyed drinks and snacks at the tavern. The tour was interesting and we learned a lot about how different spirits are made. We were able to sample all the staples at the end. The tavern was cozy and the service was great. We got the beer cheese and corn mash muffins as well as the Lexington Lemonade and we enjoyed everything. Definitely a nice small distillery tour in the heart of Lexington.

Bluegrass Distillers Downtown Lexington is a must-visit for bourbon enthusiasts and curious travelers alike. Established in 2012, this charming distillery has quickly become a standout on the craft bourbon trail. Nestled behind West Sixth Brewing, it offers guided tours that delve into the unique process of crafting their bourbons and rye whiskeys, including innovative uses of blue corn instead of traditional varieties.
Hands down the best craft distillery in Kentucky! Everyone is super down to earth and friendly. Their bourbon and whiskey flavor is very unique and amazing range of tastes on the palette. I visited them 7 years prior when all they were selling was the Blue Dog blue corn whiskey. The flavor has been memorable all these years. The blue corn is very unique. I am happy to see them producing all new bourbons and ryes now and excited to see them again when they move to bigger farm. Definitely go here if you are doing the bourbon trial, the taste of their bourbon will be unforgettable Also their cat Tipsy rocks and will lay with you while you have your tasting!

We did a tour at 12 p.m. on 8/30. We forgot our tour guides name🫣 but he was amazing! So knowledgeable & charming. We loved getting to learn about a new place here in Central KY. The grounds were gorgeous & I’m hoping to plan my wedding here someday! If you’re looking for a distillery tour- don’t let the newness of this place scare you off. It’s amazing! We can’t wait to go back!

Just did the tour here at Bluegrass distillery and this place is so cool. Steve was our tour guide and he did a really great job very informative and very nice place. We bought one of the best bottles they had and actually got the bottle it ourselves straight from the barrel and put our own labels on everything definitely a great experience.

This was a great tour. The guide was passionate. She walked us through the process and hyped their new facility to the point we cant wait to visit! They have a adorable kitty. We got to try blue corn bourbon and it was fabulous (still sad we couldnt bottle that one, but thats ok!). We did do the bottle your own experience and it was fun!

We had an amazing tour and tour guide. We were a bit late because of Google maps but they graciously made things work out. I learned more from this distillery than the other five that I went to on the previous days and they taught me how to properly sniff, swirl, and properly drink the bourbon. Enjoyed the beautiful grounds, seeing the whole process and the filling my own bottle to take home. Def want to go back someday and maybe see the purple mash. Thank you!

First time in Kentucky and had the opportunity to visit Blue Grass Distillery. Glad we went! Had a nice tour, tasted some good bourbon and hung out with some of their staff at the bar afterwards. Staff was friendly, welcoming, knowledgeable and generous with letting us try some of their just -bottled french oak bourbon after the tour ended. The entire place was clean and they are operating an impressive small batch distillery. Consider checking them out for an authentic experience in Kentucky.

Came in to the visitor center, upon walking in while the two people behind the front desk were talking and chitchatting, and as soon as entered they went into complete silence, never greeted me, never asked if they could help me. I honestly felt like I was bothering them every time I asked about something. The guy was looking on his cell phones the entire time. I really felt uncomfortable, I bought a couple of things from the gift store and they still didn't say anything to me. I did not feel very welcome for this being a visitor center. (I believe the lady's name was Debby and the guy didn't have a name badge on, but he was younger with his hair, pulled back in a ponytail) Visit center was small but nice.

The Loudoun House, located in Lexington, Kentucky, is a must-see for architecture enthusiasts. This Gothic Revival mansion, designed by architects such as Isaiah Rogers and Alexander Jackson Davis, boasts a stunning Victorian-era style and Italianate design. Once the residence of Francis Key Hunt's family, it now houses the Lexington Art League and hosts various cultural events. Surrounded by Castlewood Park, visitors can enjoy leisurely strolls among towering trees on the mansion's grounds.
Great niche artist gallery inside a historical building. Beautiful Architecture and art in the same place. Grounds are a park which is also beautiful. Friendly. Donations are price of admission. I will visit again.

Nice combination of viewing art while exploring an interesting old home. We were not overly impressed by the current photography exhibit but it was nicely presented , staff are very nice, and the house is fun to see. Be sure to go up in the tower.
David P — Google review
A beautiful old building in a horrific state of disrepair. How many years til it's condemned. The "artists" work inside is utter garbage, including actual garbage like framing an eaten Ramen pack. So, lacking in any real talent for art, you make just lazy crap and throw it up. And can't be bothered to care about the one real piece of art present the building.

Beautiful building but to those thinking its a mall it is not. It is connected to a parking lot that gives you easy access to a really cool part of downtown and has some restaurants and some offices for businesses are in there. The building is fascinating as it is a bit like an MC Escher drawing. Meaning there are many staircases going in odd directions and strange hallways but just keep going down and you will reach the street.

Lovely collective of vendors with outdoor seating. It’s like a food truck and bar hub. You buy drinks from Harvey’s and food from Luna food truck or the charcuterie place and it’s in a little courtyard. I hard there is a ping pong table but that area was reserved for a private party when we went.

Drove 6 hours for an event tonight. Our event was scheduled from 8-11pm. By 9pm the staff stop serving and starting closing. They stated group who booked the event we were at went over capacity. There was never a doorman from the staff. This was an event attended by adults and their UK students. It certainly seems the bar under staffed and took this student organization money to rent the venue and did not hold up their contract or try to let the event happen. Disappointed is an understatement. I was really looking forward to spending time with my UK students at a venue that looked really fun. We come to Lexington once a month and will never go here ever again and will certainly not recommend.

I had a very disappointing experience at The Grove in downtown Lexington on August 31st. During a small gathering, the staff really seemed disengaged and almost bothered by the presence of customers. One busboy clearly didn’t want to be there, and one of the bartenders looked right through me as if I didn’t exist. It was the first time I’ve ever felt the need to skip leaving a tip. The owner of this place might want to take a page from other local bars, like Shamrock, where the bartenders are consistently engaged and welcoming. A little more of that kind of customer service would go a long way here.

She was so helpful from start to finish and handled every little detail to make sure that everything was perfect. Extremely happy with our decision to have our wedding at this venue.

We had our wedding there. I was not impressed by the staff throughout the whole process of planning the event as well as after. We were supposed to have our ceremony outside and our reception inside. Because of bad weather, we were unable to have the ceremony outside. We did not get the money back ($1,000) for the cost of the outdoor ceremony even though the staff said we would. We were also supposed to get our damaged deposit ($250) refunded the week after the wedding. Two weeks later....still waiting on that check. Yes they offer an affordable price for a wedding venue, but you get what you pay for. The staff were not very helpful when decorating and getting the venue ready for the ceremony. I had to get my groomsmen to help kid in a big arch from outside because they said there was nobody there to move it. Some of the lights fell down inside the venue and I had to get on a ladder and fix them myself. For what we paid, they should have had someone there to help. Look somewhere else if you’re looking for a wedding venue.

We rented the Lounge and Runway area for our wedding reception. The venue itself was beautiful and perfect for our group. From the initial tour, to the night of the event, the staff at the The Thoroughbred Center provided top notch service. Amy was great at assisting us with planning and setting up the event. She also made sure we did not have to worry about one thing the night of the event. The grounds crew did a great job of making sure the parking lot and sidewalks were clear of any snow prior to our event. I cannot say enough about the venue and the staff at The Thoroughbred Center.

We recently held our Xmas office party in the lounge at the thoroughbred Center. The staff was friendly, professional, and offered a number of helpful suggestions. As a wedding planner & former bride, I love Talon Winery!! The venue space is beautiful, includes tables, chairs and twinkling lights & the grounds make for an incredible guest experience! I love how the barn feels like Kentucky, but the Vineyard is the perfect touch to soften everything for a dreamy Kentucky wedding day!! I loved getting married at Talon Winery because Jill is easiest to work with and so very kind, the bartenders did a great job and our experience was so positive!! As a planner I continue to have wonderful wedding days at Talon!! Highly recommend!!

We had our wedding at Talon Winery and it was honestly perfect. The setting is absolutely gorgeous, and even when the weather looked like it might not cooperate, Jill and the team handled everything so calmly and professionally. Their flexibility really helped us stay relaxed and just enjoy the day. The whole experience was smooth from start to finish, and we’re so glad we chose this venue. Would 100% recommend it to anyone looking for a beautiful place to get married!

My absolute favorite winery in the Lexington area! They have an excellent variety of dry and sweet wines that will satisfy everyone. It can be hard to find local wines that aren't too sweet but their menu really fits the bill. The bottles are reasonably priced for the good quality and there are so many places to sit and enjoy. The small house is filled with fun trinkets and the views are of the rolling hills and vines. Their outdoor seating is plentiful with a covered patio and scattered picnic tables. There is live music on Saturdays that really elevates the atmosphere. Their wine club is also very reasonable with varying options to fit your needs.

This is a really great venue! My wife and I went there to try their wines. They have some really great wines. Thank you, Joy, for doing such a great job, and 5 stars to you individually for the job you did. They also have music performances and tours. I highly recommend visiting them.

I photographed Brandon and Sara's wedding here in 2020. It is a beautiful winery to have your event at and I highly recommend it. The tasting room also has a second floor that is great for a bridal suite, which means you can get ready on the property! Make sure you look for the lake at sunset. It makes a great photos spot.

Blue Stallion Brewing Co. is a spacious craft brewery known for its German lagers and British ales, offering a modern taproom with billiards and food trucks. The brewery features Salt & Vinegar, serving traditional German dishes like bratwursts and country fried steaks to pair with their doppelbocks, goses, and dunkels. The kitchen's popular item is the bratwurst made from whole pigs seasoned with in-house spices.
How have I been coming to Blue Stallion since they opened and not left a review? Time to fix that! Some things have changed over the years but you still aren’t going to find better German-style beers anywhere in Lexington. If that isn’t your thing, don’t worry, they also brew an assortment of porters, IPAs, and other styles. Also, I would be remiss to leave a review without mentioning Fred, who is seemingly always behind the bar to keep your glass full, even on Christmas Eve when I needed to escape the house. Prost!

We happened upon this tour while visiting from out of town. Ellen was excellent and the tour was so interesting (we are 45 & 52 for age interest reference). Steep stairs if anyone can’t do stairs. Not sure if there is an elevator. A hidden gem stop, we ended up staying exploring for 2 hours.

Went over the weekend and had a fantastic time! Our tour guide (Demetrius) was very knowledgeable about the house, and had a great personality that added so much to an already great tour. The house itself has an interesting history, and has connections to many major historical figures both inside and outside of the Hunt-Morgan family. Tour was $12 a person for adults and took about an hour and a half. Highly recommended!

Great historic house in Lexington, KY. We arrived at 11:00 only to discover the next tour was not until 1:00. Fortunately, the Hopemont House had brochures for a walking tour of the historic district. Great way to kill some time. Paul, our guide, was very knowledgeable about the history of the house and its occupants. We enjoyed our visit and recommend a stop if you are in the area.

My family and I had a fabulous tour of Hopemont yesterday. Our guide, Paul, was so interesting and informative. Because we were the only people on the tour, we had the luxury of having him all to ourselves. He took his time, explaining so much about the history of the families who lived in the home, the process of hemp production, the Civil War and slavery as they pertained to the Hunts and the Morgans. The house itself is lovely, with many impressive architectural details like the winding staircase and the second story palladian window. It is furnished with a few important family treasures and a variety of handsome period pieces. If you have a love for historic house museums, please put Hopemont on your list to visit. Gorgeous places like this require a lot of upkeep. Whether or not the unique story they can tell will be available for another generation to enjoy depends on the patronage of the public.

I enjoyed an entertaining, informative tour of the Hunt-Morgan house on July 11, 2018. Thanks to Betty (who led the tour) for the tour and for patiently answering my numerous questions. According to Betty (as well a brochure about the house and a historical marker), the house was built in 1814. She said it has been restored to look much as it did in 1814. She added that thanks to donations from family members over the years, the house now contains many original family furnishings. Regular tours are conducted on Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, and Sunday 1 p.m.-4 p.m., as well as Saturday 10 a.m.-3p.m. from April through October according to a sign posted outside the house and a free brochure about the house. Betty said that depending upon the weather there may also be some regular tours conducted in March. But she said the house doesn’t heat very well. I took the tour scheduled for 2 p.m., which started a bit late as we waited for another tour to finish. There were only three persons on my tour (myself and a couple). I feel this gave us a better opportunity to see things and ask questions, so I felt privileged to be part of a small tour. My tour began some minutes after 2 p.m. and lasted about an hour, including the time for questions from me and the other two persons on the tour. The building includes a small gift shop, which is where tours begin. The entrance hall, impressive staircase, chandeliers, furniture, paintings, china sets, etc., offered much to see during the tour. Near the entrance is a display about the history of hemp in Kentucky. The hemp industry is where John Wesley Hunt who had the house built made most of his money according to Betty. The second floor includes a room devoted to a Civil War Museum. This room includes some items that belonged to Confederate General John Hunt Morgan, grandson of John Wesley Hunt. The great grandson of John Wesley Hunt, Thomas Hunt Morgan PhD, a researcher in genetics who was awarded a Nobel Prize, was born in this house. And Dr. Morgan’s own home is near this house. The tour included the first and second floor. The third floor (which may have been a children’s dormitory according to Betty) and the basement (where the kitchen was) were not part of the tour. But the nearby carriage house was included in the tour. Visitors can take a self-guided tour of the outside of the house, including the garden. After my tour I walked through the garden. I also looked through windows into the inside of the nearby house that had belonged to Thomas Hunt Morgan. The tour of the Hunt-Morgan house costs $12.00 for adults. But at the Lexington Visitors’ Center (which is now located in the Old Courthouse) persons can purchase tickets to tour this house and three others (Mary Todd Lincoln House, Ashland home of Henry Clay, and Waveland) for one price of $25. I actually purchased my ticket last year when the Visitors Center (then about a block from where it is now) sold those tickets for $20, with a year to visit all four sites. Even at $25, I think it’s a good value. The Hunt-Morgan house is conveniently located in downtown Lexington just a couple of blocks north of Main Street. The Gratz Park area where the house is located also contains some other historic buildings that can be seen from the outside though they are not available for tours. I think persons interested in the history of the 1800s will enjoy touring this house.

Kroger Field, the iconic home stadium for the University of Kentucky Wildcats football team, is a must-visit destination in Lexington. Nestled conveniently near downtown and Rupp Arena, this venue offers an exhilarating atmosphere that captures the essence of college football. On game days, fans are treated to an electrifying experience filled with cheers and camaraderie as they rally behind their team. The seating arrangement ensures that every fan has a fantastic view of the action on the field.
Kroger Field is such a fun and entertaining environment. I have only visited a few times, but every time has been the same enjoyable experience. The football games are so much fun, and the crowd is vivid, and you can really feel the energy and spirit the fans have. The stadium itself is very nice, and it's very accessible. It’s organized and easy to access your seating, whether you are a student or a fan. There are food vendors at almost every gate, making it accessible to get food and drinks during halftime. Even though the cats aren’t the very best, I still take so much pride in attending this school and will always cheer them on, even if the score isn’t where it should be. It’s hard knowing there are only six home games and bye weeks or away games in between. Game days in the bluegrass are truly so much fun, and I encourage anyone who has the opportunity to experience at least one.

Comfortable seating. Loud music over the PA system never seemed to stop. It interrupted the flow of conversation and competed with the great school bands. Purple parking lot cost over $60 and was anything but convenient. Best deal was to take the local transit shuttle and park for $3 or $4 downtown. All in all the Kroger Field experience was acceptable. I just wish they'd limit the music noise.

I absolutely love Kroger Field, such a Fun vibe on game day, and a very pretty stadium. As a freshman, I have loved seeing all the tailgates, loud music, chants, and Kentucky Blue gear, as the community connects all at one time in one place. It is truly so amazing to see this. I love that students have the opportunity to be seated in the student section, if available, or in the general seating. Although prices may be a bit expensive for tickets or for food inside the stadium, it is expected and just a part of the fun experience. Since I have only been at UKY for just over a month now, I have only visited Kroger Field a few times, but I cannot wait to continue going to football games and all the events offered at the field as I spend my next 4 years here at Kentucky!
Jordyn P — Google review
Kroger Field is the home of the University of Kentucky football team. There is ton of school spirit and passion throughout the whole stadium. There are also themes posted before for every game, making it fun to get ready and prepare to dress up with your school. If you dislike standing throughout the whole game, the student section may not be for you. It requires lots of energy to attend. During the game, the student section tends to stand and cheer the whole game, so if you are sitting you will not see. However, if you are in the other sections for the fans, that may differ. There are also tons of smoke effects, fireworks, and other special effects which enhances the overall experience. It is located closer to Central Campus, making it a farther walk for students in North Campus. Parking can be quite difficult with traffic of both cars and people attending the game. It has many food and drink options inside. The tickets for the game are reasonably priced for the public. There are also cheap student pass options for students, or just single-game tickets.
Kylie Z — Google review
Incredible facility. The average 1000s get the luxury of sitting on metal bleachers ala any high school in Kentucky. At least they have backs. The production around football was most impressive. Sadly, the main problem remains the main problem. The coaching staff is stagnant, and desperately needs replaced. I felt truly sorry for the athletes. Football has thousands of totally devoted fans. They deserve better.

The stadium was nice, concessions were good but as a Tennessee born and raised and a vols fan this game particularly showed just how Kentucky fans really act which is fine it’s expected but the staff there was rude beyond rude The game was completely over TN WON and no matter if we are away or at home the players always come and stand below the stands and we sing, and just “celebrate” the win half of Kentucky had already left bc the game was OVER We weren’t far up to begin with section 9 row 21 So when we moved down to the bottom portion to celebrate this dumb lady was an event person totally irrelevant made the motive of asking to see our tickets which she had no business doing and then proceeded to say you guys don’t sit down here and then when we go to walk away after recording the win and celebrating with the team she says “yeah game over get out of here” Idc if it’s your “stadium” or not you don’t act like that to anyone. The lights and the stadium was beautiful above the rudeness with the staff there

Such a great place for a concert or venue. We had super level seat that were on the side and it was a little hard to see but we made the beat of it and really enjoyed the Tyler Childers show. Ive seen him several times and I always enjoy his concerts. Ive visited the Kroger Field before to watch Chris Stapleton and had seats on the field. Anywhere you sit the show will be great. The staff handled the crowd and the crowds needs very professionaly. I can't wait to visit again for the next concert. Gotta give you two thumbs up for everything. I highly recommend seeing a concert here and enjoying yourself.

Being a Kentucky Basketball fan, this place really hits the spot for me, the size of the stands, it was great, and I am very excited to go see this season and I can’t wait for it to begin. Since it’s the off season, I was only able to walk around in the main concourse with hallways to convention halls. Furthermore, you get a great look at the different concourses, along with that, the facilities are very clean and well organized. Watching games on TV has only brought me joy for the future season and watching the cats play top-tier basketball. Also the outdoors is very nice with fountains and easy to navigate walkways as well. There is also plenty of parking that is a very easy walking distance and many food spots for either before or after the game. Overall, Rupp is one of the best facilities in college basketball and home to one of the best teams, so if you live in Lexington, or are visiting, I very much recommend going for a game.

Recently I attended the Eric church concert here and had such a wonderful experience at Rupp Arena. The entire building was so nice and with beautiful architecture. The energy and atmosphere were so comforting and hype which I love. All the staff there were so sweet and extremely helpful for helping you figure where you are supposed to be going. The hot dogs are delicious at the concessions, the lines were long and did take a bit, but we were able to make it back to seats before the concerts started with the help of the amazing workers. The bathrooms were clean, and the lines were long, but they went by fast and the entire time I was in line all the girls were all bonding and talking which was so nice and comforting. Getting out of Rupp Arena was honestly not hard at all and it went smoothly. Rupp Arena is not only known for there concerts but for the basketball games played there. I went to many Kentucky games growing up and this building is such a wonderful place to watch these games. Every seat has a pleasant view of the court and the stage so even if you are sitting all the way at the top, you will still have a pleasant view and an enjoyable time. Overall Rupp Arena is such a fun and lively place that always guarantees a fun time no matter what event you go to.
Devon C — Google review
I’m a freshman at the University of Kentucky and going to a basketball game at Rupp Arena is honestly one of the coolest things I’ve done here. The energy inside is crazy, and you can feel it from the second you walk in. Everyone’s yelling, wearing blue, and just completely locked in the whole game. When the team hits a big shot the crowd goes nuts, and it feels like the whole building shakes. Even if you’re not super into basketball, it’s still something you’d end up enjoying because the atmosphere makes it hard not to. The seats are good almost anywhere you sit, but the food and drinks are kind of expensive like most arenas. Getting out after the game takes a bit since there’s always a huge crowd, but that’s pretty normal. Overall Rupp Arena really shows how big basketball is at UK and it’s one of those things you’ve got to experience at least once while you’re here.

The Aviation Museum of Kentucky is a facility with exhibits and educational programs that cover the science and history of flight. The museum is located at Bluegrass Airport, and it features a variety of aircraft, including historic F-4 Phantoms and Bell Cobra helicopters.

First time here and we had a blast . Great venue, good pricing and specials within the stadium. Parking was ample and you didn't have to walk a mile to the park. Beautiful stadium, not a bag viewing seat in the park. Bathrooms very accessible and the good area easy to find. The stadium crew had fun events between innings, and before the game even started, plus they promoted fireworks nights a couple days a week. This is a wonderful family place to go, for a reasonable price and what a beautiful night for baseball!

Great location - easy parking - lines move quickly Pricing similar to some mlb locations for food but the quality of food 💯 better! Infrastructure and management very friendly and accommodating ❤️ Only thing that drive me nuts was the lack of etiquette for baseball fans by some families - Blocking walkways- bothering players during active play for equipment - signatures- balls It was constant - loud- and blocked view of game

I found a baseball in the parking lot and imagined it was one that went out of the park for a grand slam. The huge baseball caught my eye. Some sweet hearts left their marks

Super nice field, easy to get in and out of. I am also glad there was a covered area with shade because it was blazing hot that day.

We had a wonderful experience watching the Legends play. We went for our daughter's 13 birthday and she truly enjoyed it. We all had a wonderful time.

It is a well maintained field for baseball game, I believe. Worth of visit 🙂 There are some food and drink stations.

On the Pepsi Party deck. Enjoyed the food. Faces west, so we faced the setting sun. Couldn't hear the games and announcements made for the stands. Enjoyed th game. The field was lush and gorgeous
