Cades Cove is a picturesque valley located in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park, offering a scenic loop route that allows visitors to immerse themselves in the natural beauty of the area. This serene location is home to abundant wildlife and well-preserved homesteads, providing a glimpse into the region's history.
We had a great time we were able to see three black bears two deer bunch of turkeys. It's nice to be able to walk around and look at the old buildings and enjoy the scenery.
Chuck M — Google review
Loved the experience, the park rangers were very nice and also very informative about the park. We walked some of the trails, seen the old cabins and the old churches, even got stopped by park rangers because there was a momma bear and her cubs walking around the area. The gift shop had had so many cool items and books about the family’s who once called cades cove home.
Cory Y — Google review
For obvious reasons, this should be 5 stars, but humans really have to ruin it every time. But first with the good stuff. We got SO incredibly lucky and saw 7 bears!!! We arrived at the front of the park at about 805 am. The fog was pretty thick for the first 20 min or so of the drive, but it was amazing watch it become clearer as we drove through. We saw so many deer and about 10 were playing in field that we watched for probably 15 minutes. Now. I absolutely expect that traffic is going to be slow. I get it if someone doesn't pull over and stops for 5-10 seconds to take a picture or quick video of something even though there are signs literally everywhere that say "don't idle". But when we saw the first group of 4 bears, we were stopped for almost 30 minutes. I guarantee you that probably hundreds more people would have able to also seen them if people in front of us had common decency. Like I get it, it's an amazing sight, but seriously the people who selfishly stop for 3 or 4 minutes when they could pull over ahead and walk back is ridiculous. It's literally just about being respectful and decent. So anyway, rant over, it was one of the most amazing experiences I've ever had and I absolutely recommend going early. I think we went at the perfect time to see what we saw.
Smandbj — Google review
Just a fun drive and lots of sights ,trails, wildlife and history. The most popular place in the park and for good reason. Trails are all accessible some easy some hard. Various trail lengths. Lots of different historical cabins and on one of the spots there's even a gist mill, that still makes stone ground cornmeal you can buy. Enjoy this scenic drive at Great smoky mountains National Park
Anthony D — Google review
Did the loop on a beautiful late morning. Only saw turkey, but it's a lovely drive with several historical sites to visit. During warmer months, the NP closes the loop to motorized vehicles giving bicyclists a chance to enjoy nature without having to worry about being run off the road. Dogs are allowed in the park, but aren't allowed on most trails.
Jennifer R — Google review
If you like driving in a circle following thousands of ppl in a line of cars hoping to see wildlife in a meadow to your left,... then this is your place. The mountain views were beautiful but not as dramatic as other locations at the park. We did see 1 deer but we see those all the time at home. I would skip this if I ever came back and go for something less populated.
Mary K — Google review
I’m a lover of Mother Nature and this self guided driving attraction was breathtaking. Pictures don’t do it justice. I was looking for the bears none showed up. Nonetheless I absolutely loved this experience. Be prepared with enough gas, drinks or snacks. Make sure to use the bathroom before entering the cove. Expect to be in long line for about about 2 hrs driving time including traffic. It’s free, there is a gift shop at the end of the tour, the ice cream is delicious.
Sheila B — Google review
This is an amazing place to cruise and see wildlife. We actually saw the horses, several deer, turkeys, two bears!! There are lots of places to pull off the road if you want to explore or if you’ve got a speed demon on your tail! LOL! I love to go through very slowly and see all that we can, while others are in such a rush. What’s the point of going through if you don’t take time to enjoy the scenery!

Laurel Falls Trail is a 2.6-mile round trip hike through an old-growth forest, offering stunning views of the waterfall and a lookout tower. It's a great choice for families and beginners due to its relatively easy terrain. The trail is shaded by towering forests and lined with mountain laurels, leading to the impressive 80-foot high Laurel Falls cascading into a rocky pool below.
We enjoyed this trail. Easy hike. Kids (9&11) did well. The falls are beautiful and there is a lot of space. We didn’t feel crowded while observing the waterfall. We were fortunate to see a beautiful bear sighting! Trail is paved, but choppy. There are a few good overlooks. The fall foliage was gorgeous. Parking is difficult!
Ashton W — Google review
It's a fairly easy hike. The fall was nice. Many people went with their children. Parking near the trail is a mess. Very less spots available. Had to wait for a long time to get parking.
Md N — Google review
This trail was recommended to us as a family friendly trail that my 5 year old could hike and I agree! It was perfect for us as a family and as beginners. It’s paved and took us around 2 hours total. The waterfall was beautiful and worth the hike. There are some spots towards the end that you need to be extra cautious if you have children but overall it was a fun and rewarding trail!
Nikki T — Google review
Loved this trail. Turned out to be easier than we thought. Can definitely be done with young kids and elderly as well. Took about 35 min to the waterfall and 25 or so back. Walk down to the base of the fall to great a great view!
Sayeed S — Google review
So beautiful easy hike it is pretty steep at some points and can be a little slippery so be careful. It is a beautiful place and a must see if you visit the Smokeys. After the rain it is even better!
Kylie B — Google review
It is all up hill on the way up. It is paved but can be challenging for new people! Lots of places to stop and rest. Gorgeous views and the falls are wonderful.
Chrissy D — Google review
Hard to find parking, nice little trail, it took me about 35 minutes walking at a medium to slow pace. The path is paved all the way, although towards the end, the pavement have eroded a bit. Wear comfortable shoes and clothes . The waterfall area was very crowded, but eventually we were able to get in and enjoy (there isn't too much space to get under the water, but you can lean against the rocks and get your back wet). This review was based on a sunny Saturday afternoon in August.
Kat E — Google review
Beautiful waterfall. Trail is basically paved (some areas trail is crumbling) but pretty easy trail for an average hiker. No dogs allowed on this trail (or most trails in the Smoky Mountains).

The Roaring Fork Motor Nature Trail is a must-visit scenic drive nestled within the breathtaking Great Smoky Mountains National Park. This enchanting 5.5-mile loop takes you through lush old-growth forests, where towering trees and vibrant wildlife abound. As you navigate this picturesque route, you'll encounter charming log cabins that whisper tales of the past, alongside the soothing sounds of the Roaring Fork stream cascading nearby.
We absolutely love the roaring fork trail. Lots of things to do like trails, creeks and lookout areas. It was a gorgeous drive. It took us 3 hours to drive around. We also stopped a bunch. They had cool houses in areas which were pretty neat. Saw the place of a thousand drips. I can't wait to come back in the fall.
Skyler G — Google review
Incredible place to go by car, bike, or motorcycle. Super easy, one-way, 6 miles, with great views and a river. For people with walking difficulties, it's an excellent option! Highly recommended! We would go again. It's just a few miles from the town entrance.
Jose M — Google review
This is a really pretty ride which is almost in downtown Gatlinburg. It is not a long drive but can be very slow with the traffic as it is narrow and one way. If you want to see all that the area has to offer you really will not want to travel though too fast. Yes some people can tend to get agrivated as they act like they are trying to break a speed record. We were there in the fall and the colors were georgious. There are pull off areas, streams, walking trails etc. It is well worth the time.
Bob R — Google review
We enjoyed driving along the Roaring Fork Motor Nature Trail. It wasn't overly busy on a Thursday morning. We made several stops and explored. My daughter enjoyed splashing and playing in the water. We saw a bear in the woods which was very exciting. The mill and store at the end is a nice place to stop. We found a few treasures and they have a penny press.
Heather T — Google review
Our GPS brought us to the wrong location to start the loop + we were going the wrong way. Signs would have been really appreciated. We were not the only people driving in the wrong direction. Once we found the entrance things went a lot smoother. There was not a whole lot to look at and I felt like it was a bit long for for a drive through the woods but it was still quite a nice afternoon and, it was nice that there were places to pull off and go take small hikes and pictures and such. Unfortunately people park in crazy ways, so that got a little hairy now and then. All in all it was a very nice day and it was completely free and worth the time.
Gina A — Google review
This was absolutely beautiful! We enjoyed doing this drive more the Cades Cove. If you love nature, then this one's for you! Fall is always gorgeous in the mountains during fall, but this was exceptional!
Ashley M — Google review
If you’re in the Smoky Mountains you need to take time to see nature. The Roaring Fork Motor Nature Trail is a nice one lane drive. Lots of sharp corners and elevation changes. It has some over looks with nice views. We stopped at Ely's Mill at the end.
Rebel C — Google review
This is a MUST!! it’s so easy to drive through! A ton of spots to pull over and park so you can explore! You get the best of both worlds! From amazing Mountain View’s to being in the forest and seeing beautiful waterfalls. There are also a ton of trails along the route if you wanna go hiking as well! I loved it so much!!

Nestled in the heart of the Great Smoky Mountains, the Oconaluftee Visitor Center is a treasure trove of history and culture. This center features fascinating exhibits that delve into mountain life, alongside a charming Mountain Farm Museum showcasing historic log structures. A unique collaboration with the Cherokee community has resulted in bilingual wayside signs along a popular trail connecting the visitor center to Cherokee town.
Tons of parking and clean restrooms make this a super convenient stop. There are vending machines on-site and a great little gift shop with all kinds of cool national park merchandise. But the real gem is the covered back porch - rocking chairs and benches overlooking the stunning Smoky Mountains. The view is absolutely incredible, and if you’re lucky, you might even spot elk in the nearby field or close to the center. A peaceful, beautiful place to take a break and soak it all in. Highly recommend stopping here!
Sam — Google review
I would highly recommend stopping at the Oconaluftee Visitor Center. They offer so much history about the area and some great displays. There is a historic settlement to walk through with old cabins, out buildings, and animals. You will also find hikes, restrooms, and a heard of elk if you time it right. (Around noon to 1pm and 4:30 to 5:30pm EST) Please take the time to stop, you won't be disappointed.
Mark B — Google review
I stopped in just before sunset to take a few photos on the way into the area for the weekend, and came through just after sunrise on the way out. It's love getting to see the Elk every year, and this year I finally got some pictures. I didn’t have the opportunity to tour inside this time. Bathrooms are okay with all the traffic coming and going this time of year. I noticed they have vending machines outside for drinks, too.
Jen D — Google review
Very nice, informative, friendly, and a nice facility! Only complaint is that all 4 soda vending machines by the bathrooms said “sold out” and there was no drinks inside for purchase. Nice small gift shop, cool 3D mountain topography that you can touch/see.
Brian J — Google review
My family and I enjoyed walking through the farm museum made up of old farm structures like a corn crib, apple house, spring house, barn etc. They had chickens and pigs there as well. There is also a trail by the river that you can walk, which is fairly flat. Inside the welcome center is a gift shop and a small museum like display about early settlers life in the mountains as well as some info about the wildlife. There are restrooms available. Sometimes you can view elk in the fields next to the center around dawn and dusk. We didn't get to see any though.
Spring S — Google review
Good place to visit and if you are lucky, you can see some elk. You need to have the $5 parking pass to park. There is a hiking path along a creek.
Tom B — Google review
The opportunity to view elk on this edge of the park is awesome. We saw two on the edge of the field south of the visitor center as we were pulling in, so as soon as we parked we headed that direction. Walking along the river was scenic, and then we were an elk calling out not far away. Walking towards the sound led us to a male and a female right by (and in) the river. This was all within 10 minutes of the parking lot.
Lane S — Google review
I enjoyed this visitor center. We were fishing right down the creek from it and stopped to get a souvenir. They have a nice selection of items to choose from. They, also, have a little museum of sorts. We didn’t do any trails or visit the historic buildings, as we had more fishing to do. But, we did see elk there right at dawn and again later in the evening.

Newfound Gap is a picturesque alpine road that offers stunning views and serves as the lowest drivable pass in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. The drive from Sugarlands Visitor Center to Cherokee, NC features numerous scenic overlooks where visitors can admire the breathtaking landscapes. One of the main attractions along this route is the Rockefeller Memorial, which commemorates a significant donation that contributed to the establishment of the national park.
The views here are spectacular. This is a very iconic location, and it can get very busy in the summertime. However, it is definitely worth stopping by. It offers some of the best views of the North Carolina and Tennessee sides of the Smoky Mountains.

This is where we went on our first vacation together and it is also where I asked the love of my life to marry me. Amazing place and so many great memories and now we have our special moment from here.
Jared G — Google review
“Where Heaven Wears Flannel and Hikers Flex Their Calves” Let me start by saying this: if you haven’t screamed “I CAN SEE TENNESSEE!” while dramatically pointing at absolutely nothing in particular, have you really been to Newfound Gap? Newfound Gap is where Mother Nature decided to show off and the Smoky Mountains said, “Hold my moonshine.” Perched high up on the Appalachian spine like a front-row seat to the world’s most scenic episode of Bob Ross, this spot delivers panoramic views so breathtaking they’ll slap the Wi-Fi signal right out of your phone—and honestly, that’s a gift. As you roll up the winding road (and pray your brakes are in a good mood), you’ll hit the parking lot and realize: this is a place where jean shorts meet hiking poles, and no one bats an eye. It’s part overlook, part Appalachian Trail launchpad, and part outdoor fashion show featuring everything from tactical REI gear to confused tourists in Crocs. Stand on the North Carolina–Tennessee state line and instantly feel like a powerful diplomatic figure mediating between barbecue styles. Look left: rhododendrons. Look right: slightly different rhododendrons. Look up: clouds hugging the peaks like nature’s own weighted blanket. Look down: probably someone regretting hiking in flip-flops. And don’t skip the Rockefeller Memorial. That’s where you learn that even rich people sometimes put their money toward good things—like making sure the rest of us can stand on a mountaintop, take a deep breath, and feel like we're in a Lisa Frank painting minus the neon leopards. Bring a jacket—it gets cool up here, both literally and spiritually. And maybe a snack, because staring into the vast, misty wilderness tends to awaken your inner philosopher and your inner squirrel at the same time. In short: Newfound Gap is a place to take photos, contemplate life, and maybe cry a little if the wind hits your face just right. Go there. Bring someone you like. Or don’t. Either way, the view won’t judge you—but the squirrels might.
Jason B — Google review
Gorgeous drive!!! Worth the time it takes and the main scenic viewing area doesn't disappoint. Bring a picnic lunch and eat at 5040 feet! Plenty of places to stop and take photos. Friendly other people around you will be happy to take your photo if you're tired of selfies. There are trails you can walk if you want and a restroom, too. Wear sneakers and take your hiking poles- this is a beautiful place to stretch your legs.

Visitor center
The Sugarlands Visitor Center serves as the main entry point to the Great Smoky Mountains National Park and is located just outside Gatlinburg, TN. It provides access to the park, along with valuable information, maps, campsite reservations, a wildlife museum, and a video about the park's creation. Additionally, visitors can interact with Park Rangers and participate in a program designed to engage kids in various activities that culminate in earning a junior Ranger badge.
Sugarlands Visitor Center is a great starting point for exploring the Great Smoky Mountains, but be prepared—it’s a busy spot! There’s a decent amount of parking, but it always seemed pretty packed during our visit, so arriving early is a good idea. Inside, you’ll find helpful park rangers available to answer questions and provide maps, a small but informative museum highlighting the natural and cultural history of the area, and a nice gift shop with souvenirs, books, and gear. Restrooms are available and well-maintained. There are also a few trails accessible directly from the visitor center, which makes it a convenient place to begin a hike. One important thing to note: a parking pass is now required for the National Park. You can purchase one right at the visitor center, so be sure to take care of that before heading out on the trails or deeper into the park. Overall, it’s a well-equipped and informative stop, just be ready for the crowds—especially during peak seasons!
Melissa J — Google review
It gets super crowded, so arrive early! We arrived after 11 and ended up parking at the Bus/RV lot because the car lot was full. Very crowded inside the visitor center as well. There is A/C, so it's a good place to cool off. There are restrooms outside the center, with multiple stalls (Men and Women). The employees are very helpful if you have questions about certain trails. You can purchase trail maps inside for $1.99, but honestly, just pre-download maps on your phone. It's 2025, who's pulling out maps while driving?! Easy access to Nature Trail/ Cataract Trail from outside the restrooms. It is an "easy" trail but no great views. Nothing to write home about. IF you have time and have nothing else planned for the day, do it. Otherwise, total pass! You can also purchase parking passes inside, but I highly recommend buying on advance ONLINE due to the crowds.

Kristina was extremely friendly and helpful! They had a good selection of apparel and keep sakes. It can be busy and congested but it’s one of the most popular national parks so… that is expected! I would recommend doing the Junior Ranger packet also.

Visited on a weekend with no wait to enter. No need to buy tickets in advance. Sugarlands is the go-to starting point for most visitors entering the park from Gatlinburg. The staff is knowledgeable and approachable, and the exhibits are surprisingly well-curated for a free visitor center. Restrooms are clean, and the short educational film is a nice touch for first-timers. The center connects directly to several trails, including Cataract Falls and Gatlinburg Trail, which makes it a practical launchpad for exploring. Parking is free and usually available, even on weekends. Whether you’re grabbing a map, asking about trail conditions, or just stopping for a break, Sugarlands delivers exactly what a national park visitor center should.

The road was closed through the park. We didn’t have time to go to the North Carolina side. Also the loop is closed on Wednesdays through the summer for pedestrians and bicyclists to access the full 11 miles safely. So we spent most of our visit here at the center. We enjoyed the museum, the gift shop, the restrooms. The shaded benches- and a little room to run around and explore without getting too far afield. We had to purchase (a first for that) our Jr. Ranger workbook, but all 3 kids were able to use the one to work on badges. It was a good day!

We tried for two days to visit this place last week and it was just so busy that it was difficult to find parking. If you just need to purchase a parking permit, there are parking kiosks located at both ends of the parking lot. We were able to park behind a few parked cars and quickly purchase a permit from one of the kiosks. I highly recommended purchasing online and printing them off if you're able to do so. We finally made it inside on our third attempt by arriving early( ~8:30am) and even then the parking lot was already filling up. The restrooms are located in another building but were open before the visitor center was. They weren't the cleanest but they're werent disgusting either. All of the visitor center staff were very helpful and polite. The lobby was spacious. The exhibit area contained some very cool displays and worth a visit. The gift area had a good variety of souvenirs, gifts, snacks, drinks, and clothing items. It can get a bit crowded but it was manageable. This is a nice stop if you can find parking.

This was much more impressive than we were expecting. So many excellent taxidermies. I had no idea there was so much diversity. The forest must be teaming with life - amazing how well hidden the animals keep themselves!

Kuwohi is a prominent mountain in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park, offering a seasonal road, paved trail, and an observation tower that provides stunning views of the park for up to 100 miles on clear days. The mountain is also a significant point along the Appalachian Trail, where hikers start their journey at Fontana Dam and ascend to Kuwohi before descending towards Davenport Gap.
This is a must see if you are visiting Smoky mountain. Once at the top there are plenty of parking spaces available. After parking there is a decent hike up a paved path up to the Kuwohi observation tower which was known as clingmans dome in the past. It's a steep 10-15 min hike. You can stop and sit many times if hike is an issue. Once at the top the view is amazing. Once you hike down there are 5 restrooms available. Once at the top there may not be data but they have a tower to make emergency phone calls.

This major landmark just over state line of Tennessee from North Carolina located in the Great Smoky mountains national Park is a 360° concrete Tower on the pic of the highest point in the area there is a half mile trail and curving concrete ramp up to the tower from the parking lot this is not a very accessible walk for elderly people or people with health conditions such as long or heart ailments however the views from the parking lot at the base of the ramp up to the tower or spectacular and are worth the drive and the weight even if you don't make it up to the tower also there are very many overlooks on the way up to the parking lot from the entrance to the national Park that offer amazing views also

Breathtaking place to see on the border of Tennessee and North Carolina. I visited November 2nd. There was no problem finding a parking spot. Weather was cold and freezing on top. Good to see 360 degree view of mountains. Climb is ok. Not too hard. Better to walk slowly to observation tower. Because it gets cold and windy up there. Seeing snow covered trees was spectacular.
H O — Google review
Awesome view. We'll worth negotiating the windy road leading to it and the 1/2 mile uphill trek up to the tower.

A must visit place. The views are incredible. Took some amazing pictures. The trail is paved and easy to walk on. However, it is steep and requires some effort.

A small hike that leads to an amazing view point. On the observatory, one can see a 360 degrees view of the mesmerising mountains. The stretch of green is soul satisfying provided there is no fog and clouds blocking the view. We had a good time until the mist began to cascade the ranges and envelope the entire mountains.
Manasa — Google review
Thrilling experience! A must visit. Half mile hike till the dome. The path is paved and somewhat steep, but it is pretty easy.. once you reach the top, you will be blown away by the mesmerizing views of the mountains. Perfect for capturing landscape photos/videos and enjoying fresh cool breeze.

What a view!! It's worth the trek up the hill! It is all up hill, it's not easy but it is paved. There are lots of places to stop and rest. It's beautiful in the Dome! Make the hike!!

Alum Cave Trail is a 5-mile hiking route in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park, known for its geological landmarks. The park is highly visited, so it's recommended to visit during quieter times like January through April and September through mid-October. Alum Cave Bluffs trail is a popular choice among hikers, especially when other trails like Chimney Tops are closed due to forest fires.
This is a beautiful trail. I went on a cold winter day when there was ice all over portions of the trail that made it a bit perilous. Overall, the hike wasn’t too strenuous and it was a decent length of about 4.5 miles there and back.

We hiked the Alum Cave Trail yesterday and it was amazing! Parking was very difficult ,we arrived around 9 AM and had a hard time finding a spot, so I recommend getting there closer to 8. The trail itself is a bit challenging and mostly uphill, so make sure to wear good hiking shoes and bring some snacks and water. The views along the way and at the top are absolutely incredible and totally worth the effort!

Went Easter Sunday. I had read that parking was hard to come by so we went at 11am hoping to grab spots as the earlier folks were leaving, but evidently everyone else was doing the same. We ended up parking a mile away and walking to the trailhead, which was ok but not ideal for my kids. The trail itself was well maintained and beautiful. Most of the trail was shaded and the sound of the water was wonderful throughout the hike. The steps toward the end were brutal but the views were worth it.

Fontana Lake, located in Bryson City, North Carolina, is a vast reservoir surrounded by the lush forests of the Smoky Mountains. The calm waters make it ideal for fishing and leisurely boating trips. However, its sheer size can make navigation challenging. Fontana Dam, standing at 480 feet tall, is an impressive sight and marks much of the park's southern boundary.
What an absolutely beautiful lake, unspoiled and a way to spend the day either swimming, taking a pontoon boat out for a ride and experiencing the breathtaking views. I’m so thankful they didn’t build upon this lake. It’s unspoiled and absolutely gorgeous.
CCV N — Google review
One of the prettiest lakes in our area. Heck of a drive getting there with having to drive the Dragon, but well worth it. If you camp on the lake after about October, water levels are WAY down which means plenty of mud. One of our favorite places to canoe/camp.
Chris M — Google review
There really isn't any better time than tubing and swimming on the lake with family. Bring a cooler with drinks and food and you are set for the day! Don't forget a map, and keep your eye on the gas gauge if your boat doesn't typically run all day. We ran all the way down to the dam and took some great family photos there. It was a great day and a great trip! Perfect for a sultry July day!
O G — Google review
Fontana Lake is situated at the North Carolina entrance of the Great Smoky Mountains National Park, but the lake is not under the national park's jurisdiction. The lake has 238 miles of shoreline. The lake is created by the 480-foot-tall (equivalent to a 50-story skyscraper) Fontana dam. You can walk on the dam and enjoy the Fontana dam basin. The lake provides recreational activities like boating, kayaking, fishing, and hiking. You can also enjoy the magnificent scenic views from many overlooks around the lake. Definitely recommend visiting the lake.
Tasnim I — Google review
This lake is massive. You could easily get yourself lost if you aren't familiar with the area. Which is also a positive if you are boating and hanging out for the day. There is plenty of room to drive and dock up in your own private area to swim. The views here are spectacular. Fontana is the perfect lake with mountain views. The history here is also fascinating. If you are visiting here and haven't before. I would encourage you to look up the history on Fontana and the dam.

Anakeesta is a popular outdoor adventure destination that offers various exciting activities such as zip lining, gondola rides, and a treetop play area. It stands out among other nearby mountain attractions with its polished and flashy features. Visitors can choose between an enclosed gondola or a chairlift to reach the ridgetop village, which boasts hanging bridges, mountain coasters, dueling zip lines, and an observation tower at the summit.
Absolutely loved it here. It was a nice peaceful ride up to the mountaintop. And once you get up there the views are just absolutely incredible. Then you start walking up to the tower. Just go off the tower The view is getting better. So much to do here especially if you have kids. Unfortunately if you're a tall guy big guy you can't go through some of the activities which is on the standable such as life. But definitely a lot of fun this place. Especially during the fall time.. I would suggest go early though especially during the week. It can get pretty crowded really quickly. Especially if you park in the parking lot where they are. It gets crowded really quick.

We arrived Saturday, November 15th and this place was packed with tourist. The parking lot was at full capacity so we parked at the garage. $10.00 for the whole day is a fantastic deal. We were walking distance from every where, quite convenient. We took the chair lift(they also offer a closed in cable car)to the top and it was wonderful(a bit scary[windy day] but worth it). The shops, restaurants( the drinks we ordered were delicious), and activities were adorable. Family friendly galore. I wish I had more time to stay for the evening lights part of the park. I loved the food stands and how each stand had a different type of hot chocolate. It all looked yummy! The drinks and the ice cream made my day! They had a show with elves singing and dancing. As we were leaving the carolers were arriving. There's definitely the feel of the Christmas spirit here. I'd definitely return another time.
Jessica M — Google review
We really enjoyed Anakeesta. The views from the top are gorgeous, and you can see the mountains so clearly. There are plenty of places to grab food, which was nice because we didn’t have to leave or rush. The play areas were great for the kids — they spent so much time there and had a blast. If you’re planning to stay for the lights and Astra Lumina at night, I’d definitely go in the afternoon. It worked out perfectly for us to see everything in daylight and then stay for the night experience. About the chair lifts — they were fine for us, but just a heads-up that there are only a few cabin (gondola) options, so you might have to wait a bit if you prefer those. They also run shuttle buses if you want to avoid the chair lifts completely, which is really helpful for anyone not comfortable with heights. One of the favorite part of the whole place was the Treetop Skywalk. Walking across those bridges with the mountains all around was honestly the highlight of everyone’s day. It was a really fun and easy day overall with kids .
Team J — Google review
A true gem—fun-filled and magical for the whole family. Everyone of us loved it! The 20-minute wait for the chairlift was worth it; once you're on, the adventure begins. The ride up is thrilling, and the Observation Tower offers stunning mountain views. There’s something for everyone: the Treetop Play Area kept my kid delighted, while the Treetop Skywalk was a serene highlight. The park is clean, well-equipped, and beautifully maintained. Plan to spend a full day here—you’ll want time to enjoy every moment. Highly recommended!

Our family visited Anakeesta, and we all loved it! The scenery is absolutely stunning. We appreciated that the park worked with nature and highlighted the beauty of the mountains, trees, flowers, etc. Every single view was breathtaking! We did not purchase our tickets ahead of time, but when we go back, we will. We were able to use a posted QR code and buy our tickets at the park rather than stand in line for tickets. We purchased the base ticket and added-on being able to ride coasters. The ride up is an adventure in itself. We rode the chair lift up and the chodola back down. For those less-adventurous, there is the Ridge Rambler (big truck)! The staff at Anakeesta if fantastic. Everyone was so friendly! There were lots of options for food at reasonable price points. We stayed long enough to have both lunch and dinner! If you go with children, be prepared to pay for extras. Note what the base ticket includes, and know that riding the mountain coasters, ziplining, and the photo package are all additional in cost.

I gave this place a five out of five star review because of their Christmas light presentation. It was early fun experience to walk around looking at all the decorations. I would say this is definitely more of a kids place but as an adult, I had fun. There was a very long wait to get to the top of the mountain and aren’t even a longer way to get down during the holiday seasons. I would probably plan on going during the week when kids are still in School.
Dave C — Google review
Amazing place for the entire family. There are just 4 gondolas for family with kids and stroller. There are also trucks as well that can take you up there with the stroller but the gondola is really fun, so you have to wait; it worth the wait. Tons of stuff to see and try. My kids and I LOVE IT so much. The fact that they close late at night was very cool as well. We visited on Saturday and it was manageable. For kids Pizza at Kephart cafe was delicious. The Astra Lumina was very out of space, was ok for us. We will come back!!

We have been to Gatlinburg, numerous times and never tried to go into this A. Theme park, but today it was snowing and we said, let's go to the top, so we took the snow ski. Chair left to the top and what a cool place. Nice little village, great restaurant, incredible views. A lot of the stuff was closed because today it was snowing so they didn't want anyone to get hurt. But the things that were open the bridges all the walkways we had a pretty good time. I give it 4 stars only because it was 29°. Maybe on a 75° day, it would have got 5 stars. Some of the things were closed. So I can't give it a full review. Thanks again for getting us in and out. So quickly.

During my visit to Dollywood, I indulged in a delicious turkey leg from the Hickory BBQ spot for lunch, followed by a bunless burger at Red's for dinner. The staff truly impressed me with their attentiveness; they provided a list of gluten-free options available throughout the park. At Red's, they were particularly cautious and inquired about any gluten allergies before serving fries that contained gluten seasoning. It was reassuring to see such care taken for dietary needs!
Almost no lines when we went. Everyone was pleasant, do note that parking is $25 on top of the tickets. Food is priced like most theme park ($20 for an order of chicken tenders and fries with a soda). The establishment was clean and staff were helpful. The older staff were far more energetic and enthusiastic than the younger her ride operators. I do recommend doing the train ride as it gives a good tour of the park and is an experience in itself.
Nicholas J — Google review
Dollywood is one of those rare theme parks that feels like more than just a fun destination — it feels like a warm welcome. From the moment you step through the gates, there’s a beautiful blend of Smoky Mountain heritage, wholesome entertainment, and genuine hospitality that makes every visitor feel like family. What stands out the most is how thoughtfully designed everything is. The park is incredibly clean, the landscaping is beautiful, and the music — whether live or playing softly in the background — adds a special touch unique to Dolly Parton’s world. It's a place where thrilling roller coasters, peaceful craft demonstrations, and mouthwatering Southern cuisine all live in perfect harmony. The rides are top-notch and offer excitement for all ages, but even if you never stepped on a coaster, you’d still have an unforgettable day. The shows are heartfelt and professional, the artisans demonstrate real mountain craftsmanship, and the food is absolutely delicious — especially anything fresh-made in front of you. Another major highlight is the staff. They are genuinely friendly, patient, and happy to help, which makes the entire experience feel relaxed and inviting. You can tell the park takes pride in treating guests with kindness — just like Dolly would want. Whether you come for the thrills, the culture, the music, or the memories, Dollywood delivers a complete, heartfelt experience that stands out above most theme parks. It’s a place that celebrates joy, family, faith, and Appalachian tradition — and you leave with not just photos, but feelings you’ll remember.
Austin L — Google review
Great day out a Dollywood! The park is super cute, not too big and plenty going on for every age. We didn’t get to see any shows but we did ride the rides and loved them. We got to the park for 0930 for its opening at 1000 and it was relatively quiet and nice to walk around. Unfortunately a lot of the rides didn’t open until 1100 onwards. Lightening Rod, the star of the show rollercoaster was closed all day (apparently a common theme!) but luckily reopened at 1800 so we got a ride in. The park got very busy in the afternoon with 75-80 min queue times but 15-30 mins in the morning. Food in the park was delicious and well priced for a theme park. Queues for food later in the day had long lines. $25 for parking is a tad steep on top of your park ticket but most parks are now doing this sadly. Phone signal in the park is very poor meaning the Dollywood app is rendered near useless with a quite a few guests complaining about this on the ride back to the car park. Overall though would highly recommend!

A family friendly amusement park, with lots of thrill rides and AMAZING shows. We went during the Christmas celebration, and the lights were breathtaking. The Christmas in the Smokies show had a live orchestra, and the singers were outstanding. Going in November, on a weekday, made for super short lines. My family went on all the rollercoasters, and some of them 4-5 times. My daughter and my favorite coaster was Fire Chaser. It had a super cute theme, and is a less intense coaster. My son and husband liked Flying Eagle, but it is definitely a coaster made for thrill seekers. Our longest wait was for cinnamon bread, and it was well worth the 20-30min wait. Lunch was typical theme park food quality, but it might have just been hit and miss for us. There is something for everyone, and I really appreciated the family and faith focus.
Shona M — Google review
Dollywood is fantastic! This was our first visit but won't be our last. Great holiday decor up already in mid-November made it feel like the holidays. We enjoyed it more than we thought we would. Great selection of roller coasters, enough to satisfy any enthusiast. Also a good selection of medium and lower intensity rides for families and all. Carnival games with good prizes. Good food choices. Do NOT miss the Cinnamon Bread (available at the bakery as well) and do not wait until the end of the day to buy it as the lines get long. Highly recommend buying tickets in advance and arriving early (about 45 minutes to an hour before park opens). Arriving too late means parking far away and a long walk or tram ride to get into the park. It's a spread out park across hilly terrain so you're going to walk a lot.
Andrew P — Google review
We absolutely loved our visit to Dollywood! We got there early and parking was very easy. We went to the Lightning Rod coaster first, what a rush! The train was delightful. Everything was beautiful, the hills were covered in fall leaves. That cinnamon bread is to die for! Every coaster was exciting and thrilling and did not make me feel sick. They felt very high end. I giggled a lot on the fun fire brigade ride. It was so quarky and silly and caught me by surprise. The Christmas decorations were plentiful and it felt like every structure was lit up. The Dolly Experience was so heartfelt abs inspiring. It felt like she was expressing who she was and sharing rather than showing off. The pink sparkly Christmas decorations in that area were so unique and every girl's dream. The gift shops had mostly decently priced items that were much more affordable than other theme parks. The staff were all friendly and it was clean. Dollywood knows exactly what their brand is and it doesn't feel like they are trying to compete with anyone.
Liz T — Google review
Such a great time! The whole park was decorated for Halloween and was so charming once it got dark. The rides rocked, I particularly loved Lightning Rod, pictured here in my review. It’s the fastest rollercoaster in the world and it felt that way! I also particularly enjoyed Barnstorm; a massive swing that gave a real thrill. Overall the park is themed wonderfully, fun to explore, and definitely worth visiting again and again.

1st time visiting. One of the nicest amusement parks we've visited. Very clean and they've paid alot of attention to details in the decorating. Majority of the staff was extremely friendly and helpful. Plenty kid-friendly areas and rides, but also, plenty of extreme thrill rides as well. Not to compare, but a Disney-like experience, in a much more laid back, down-home, relaxing atmosphere. Very well done, we'll be back. Highly recommend.

Ripley's Aquarium of the Smokies is a vast marine facility in Gatlinburg, open 365 days a year. It houses over 10,000 marine creatures, including sharks, sea turtles, stingrays, and penguins. The aquarium features interactive exhibits like the Discovery Center for hands-on experiences with animals. Visitors can also learn about the aquarium's Systems Control area that manages millions of gallons of saltwater. Additionally, it offers a glass-bottom boat ride experience.
My family and I took my son here so he could have some fun on our trip and he sure did here. He loved the selection of sea/ocean animals and the interactive games they had throughout the facility. We order tickets beforehand on TripAdvisor (we got them in a bundle) which saved us a good bit of money.

Ripley’s Aquarium of the Smokies is an amazing spot for both kids and adults! It’s much bigger than you’d expect, with tons of exhibits to explore. One of the highlights is the moving conveyor tunnel, you’re surrounded by sharks, rays, and all kinds of sea life as you glide through. There are interactive displays, fun photo ops, and even a penguin walk parade that’s a must-see! The penguins are adorable and it’s a unique experience you won’t find at most aquariums. A great place to bring the family, unwind, and learn something new. Definitely worth the trip!

Oh and the Dragon room was very informative with great history as well as several live of modern day dragons.

The glass bottom boat ride is a must! We had a good time, but for the price of admission we did expect some more sea animals. Wife and I went on a Thursday morning. Same time as hundreds on 2md and 3rd graders on a field trip. While it was fun watching kids see and learn about nature the chaos with all these screaming and running kids brought our enjoyment down a notch. The tunnel under the tank is incredible to see. Penguins never disappoint. Great location and a lot of other Ripley attractions and within a 10 min walk max. If in Gatlinburg I suggest you go here.

Worth every step. Probably the best place in the smokies. We went up Alum Cave and down Rainbow Falls. Both were nice, Rainbow Falls was a little less well kept, it is less busy however. However you make it, just get up there. Its really something.

Climbing a mountain ✅ on my bucket 🪣 list! Very strenuous but worth every drop of sweat! Views are majestic and just breathtaking at times. Bring hiking poles the terrain is difficult. When you are at the top take some time to rest and get a homemade chocolate cookie bar. Thank me later.

Great hike, I got there at 6am and it was a clear morning and we were able to see all the stars in the sky. Started at the Alum cave trail hiked to the Mt Le Conte point which didn't have much of a views but there were plenty of views on the hike up, the Clif top view point was amazing!

Amazing hike! Bring water, and expect your shoes to be soaked along the way as most the trail is wet rocks. You can have a nice lunch at Alum Cave which is close to halfway. Get there before 7am or expect to walk another mile just to get to the trailhead! You'll see why by the end of the day.

Strenuous hike, but mainly for the distance, most parts are not that steep, but there are some steep sections that can get slippery. I would hold onto the cable when you get high up. There is a reason why it’s there. Stay safe. When you get to the top, there is a nice lodge with some snack snacks and gifts. If you go out a little bit further, you can get to the top and hopefully it won’t be too smoky for you. When we got to the top, it was very smoky and we really couldn’t see that much. I will say we saw a lot throughout the entire hike and we had a wonderful time enjoying God’s a wonderful creation! God is so good! I hope God blesses you with a very rad day!

Great views, beautiful trails. Only downside is that since there are 5 easily reachable trails leading up it can be super crowded.
Phil T — Google review
Worth it! The views are amazing, there is several spots your can rest along the way, parking is limited so arrive early, it will take in a moderate pace 3+hours, a lot of wood and rock stairs with support cables for the expose areas. The trail takes 5.3 miles to the cliff bluff overlook. There is potable water at the lodge available to the hikers.

Elkmont Campground, nestled in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park, is a popular camping destination just 8 miles from Gatlinburg. With 200 campsites, including ADA-compliant options, it offers paved driveways and various amenities such as fire rings and picnic tables. The campground's proximity to Gatlinburg makes it convenient for accessing popular spots in the national park. Additionally, there's a campground store that sells firewood and basic camping supplies.
Favorite Campground. Have stayed several times. Peaceful. The riverfront sites are great. We were in the B section this time. Easy check in. Bathrooms were clean. Dishwashing stations are convenient. Wood was $9.87 a bundle and ice was $5 a bag. People need to slow down driving through. Saw several cars speeding through campground going WAY over the 5mph speed limit. Lots of people and kids out walking & biking, and sites to close to road to be in such a rush on such a small roadway.

I've been camping in the campground for forty years. My parents brought me as a baby, and I definitely feel like I'm at my "summer home" when I visit. The campground is very dear to my heart; however, I will say my last few visits have been met with frustration. I now have children of my own and have been fussed at by park rangers for allowing the use of sidewalk chalk on pavement of my specific rented spot. I've also been fussed at for allowing my four year old to ride her old-fashioned, non-electric scooter directly in front of our rented spot. I've seen others fussed at for their tire narrowly missing the drive pad and touching 1 inch of the grass. The rangers I think need something to do. Maybe if they gave them a chainsaw and a paint bucket, the old Elkmont town restoration could go quicker? I think this nit-picking of what children are allowed to do in a primitive campground is excessive. The whole point of getting away is to find creative, healthy activities to connect and enjoy nature, family, and friends. Please remember that when you walk around critiquing families who are minding their own business, trying to relax.

I really like this campground, however the beautiful setting compensates for several negatives. The location is great with a beautiful river next to the campground and streams running throughout. The spots are nicely separated. You do need to put away (essentially) everything each night due to bears and that’s a bit of a hassle but not much you can do about that. The bathrooms are old and there is no soap. There are also no showers but bathrooms were kept fairly clean. The ice is overpriced and I think their supplier is shorting them on ice - a 7 pound bag seemed to have about 4 pounds of ice. There are several great trails nearby. If you can deal with the (relatively) minor issues, it’s a great place to stay.

Absolutely amazing. Camped my entire life but first time ever at a national park. Site c7 right next to the restrooms. Tent pad and picnic table and space for camper and fire ring at nearly all sites. . It was amazing. Saw several turkeys on site. No electricity but generator hours 8 a - 8 pm. Absolutely stunning. No Verizon service. Vzw less than 10 miles away towards sugarland to call text loved ones. Camp store was very friendly and offered camping basics. Restrooms were amazingly clean. Cleaned daily. Even if you don’t get a site on the river the camp is so quiet it can be heard from several 100 feet away.

Once-in-a-lifetime firefly magic at Elkmont Campground ✨ I came here to witness the synchronous fireflies in the Great Smoky Mountains — and it was absolutely breathtaking. For about two weeks in early June, thousands of fireflies light up in perfect rhythm, creating a natural light show that feels almost surreal. It’s something you have to see to believe — like nature’s own fireworks. The Elkmont Campground itself was peaceful, clean, and well-maintained. Campsites are nicely spaced out, and the surrounding woods add to the feeling of seclusion and calm. Rangers and staff were friendly and informative, helping everyone navigate the firefly viewing respectfully and safely. A few tips: Apply for the firefly lottery early if you want a parking pass during peak display dates. Bring a red-light flashlight, a low chair, and be ready to sit in silence — the experience is even more powerful in the quiet. This was one of the most awe-inspiring natural events I’ve ever experienced. Highly recommend for campers, nature lovers, and anyone who wants to feel a little bit of wonder.

We had a campsite by the river and it was amazing. The lots were easy enough to back into and we're a fair price. The only thing that kept me from giving this a 5 star was the fact that there was no water or electricity at the campsite. Not great when you're tent camping like we did. However if you come prepared it's not a huge impact.
Thomas S — Google review
One of my most favorite camping spots! I have never had a bad experience here. There are great hiking loops you can do out from the site like cucumber gap. As a note, there are no showers and you have to get water from the spickets or bathrooms. There is no cell service in camp, there is an overlook on the way down to the visitor center that has service. My only downside to the site is that you have to fit your tent on a hard gravel platform that destroyed the environment (to save the environment) Most of the negative reviews are just from a year the restrooms were broken.

Ascend to the top of the Gatlinburg Space Needle, a 407-ft. observation tower that has been an iconic part of the city since 1969. The two glass elevators provide a stunning 360-degree view as you ride up to the outdoor viewing deck, where you can take in panoramic vistas of Gatlinburg and the surrounding Smoky Mountains. In addition to its breathtaking views, visitors can also enjoy a theater and an arcade at the top.
Fun trip to the top of this 400 plus foot tower. Amazing views of the surrounding town and mountains. Elevator can be slow and holds a limited amount of guests but the wait time is not too long. Well maintained and safe and provides an affordable view compared to other attractions in the area.
Lucas K — Google review
This was a cool attraction, and less expensive than some of the other attractions in the area. Loved the view from the top. My one grievance is that they wouldn’t let me go up by myself due to their safety precautions, you have to bring friend. Luckily, I convinced my siblings to come with me. So this is only good as a group activity, if you’re solo, you’re out of luck.
Emily D — Google review
The Gatlinburg Space Needle offers a refreshing aerial view of the Smokies and downtown, especially during clear weather. The elevator ride is smooth, and the observation deck gives a quiet moment to take in the landscape without the usual street-level bustle. While the arcade and base attractions feel a bit dated, the view itself makes the visit worthwhile. Staff were courteous, and the overall experience felt safe and well-managed. It’s a solid stop for visitors who want a visual reset before diving back into the crowds. The ticket pricing is reasonable, and the option to buy in advance online helps streamline the visit—especially during weekends or peak travel seasons. The observation deck offers informational panels that highlight key landmarks in the distance, adding a subtle educational layer to the experience. Whether you're snapping photos, taking a quiet moment to reflect, or simply enjoying the breeze above the town, the Space Needle delivers a calm and scenic break from Gatlinburg’s busy streets.

This could be great but it is so ran down. The paint had so many layers. The stairs that you look at have so many cobb webs. Would be great for signs about height as you get higher and higher. Maybe an audio explaining different things rather than the same beat in the sound system. The only plaques were peeling apart. Those green lights at night make for terrible pictures. Maybe consider a vending machine or something once at the top again potential. The price doesn't reflect.

Great experience! We were able to go during the daytime and at night, which both gave us fantastic views! You can go twice with each ticket and I recommend checking Groupon for deals. It's an elevator with ride up with a view and you can stay on the 360° platform as long as you want. There's a couple benches to sit and a 'Stamp a Penny' machine for 51c.

Grotto Falls is a picturesque 25-foot waterfall located in the Great Smoky Mountains. It can be reached via a 3-mile trail that winds through the forest, offering hikers an opportunity to walk behind the curtain of falling water without getting wet. This unique feature allows for capturing ethereal images and makes it a popular spot for photographers. The falls are part of the Roaring Fork Motor Nature Trail near Gatlinburg and are easily accessible via a short and moderate hike.
Beautiful trail that provides a challenge, but isn’t overly difficult. It is a moderate hike with a steep incline, and about three miles round trip. We saw children and adults alike enjoying this trail. Saw some beautiful nature, a couple of small waterfalls, insects, cool rocks, and even a very chill bear along the way. The large waterfall at the end makes the hefty climb worth it. Get here early because parking is tight, and make sure you get a pass at the visitor center first thing. There are restrooms at the trailhead parking lot which was nice.

Grotto Falls was amazing!! It’s a very popular place so plan to get there early. Parking is always full. The hike itself was mostly uphill and the path was pretty clear with some rocks and roots in the ground. There were little waterfalls and other beautiful scenery all along the way.

This is a beautiful waterfall and the hike isn't too bad. It is uphill, but all my kids were able to make it without complaining (from 10-21). Walking behind the falls is amazing and unique. Our oldest son proposed to his girlfriend there in October. Parking is very limited, we had to drive the loop twice and pile the 12 of us into one car once we were able to get to a larger parking lot & leave 2 vehicles there, this was 9am in the morning. Luckily, there was one parking spot available the 2nd time around. So go very early!

Great hike with beautiful scenes. The waterfall and little pools at the top were incredibly. The water was very cold! It was a great experience! Parking was totally full. We were praying for a spot to open up for us...and it did!

Grotto Falls is a gem in the Smokies, offering a unique opportunity to walk behind a cascading waterfall—a rare and magical experience. The hike via Trillium Gap Trail is about 2.6 miles roundtrip and moderately easy, with gentle inclines and shaded paths that make it suitable for families and casual hikers. Along the way, you’ll pass through lush greenery, cross small streams, and spot wildflowers and wildlife, especially in spring and early summer. The trail is well-maintained, and the forest canopy provides a cool, refreshing atmosphere even on warmer days. The waterfall itself is stunning, especially after recent rain when the flow is strong. The ability to walk behind the falls adds a playful and memorable twist to the hike. It’s a great spot for photos, quiet reflection, or simply cooling off. Be sure to wear sturdy shoes, as the rocks near the falls can be slippery. Whether you’re a seasoned hiker or just looking for a peaceful nature escape, Grotto Falls delivers a rewarding experience that blends accessibility with natural beauty.

Nice short hike! Good for the family. Parking filled up quickly on a Friday morning. I'd recommend going early if you don't want to add extra milage to your hike. You can walk behind the falls which is fun. The trail does continue up to a mountain path for those interested in a hike longer than 3 miles.

A Peaceful and Rewarding Hike! I absolutely loved the scenic trail that leads to Grotto Falls. The walk through the forest is peaceful and beautiful, and the reward at the end—a stunning waterfall you can actually walk behind—is totally worth it! I recommend bringing water and a few snacks, especially if you’re hiking with kids or taking your time. Don’t rush—soak in the beauty around you. It’s not just about the destination, the journey is just as breathtaking. Highly recommend!

Ramsey Cascades is a stunning 100-ft. waterfall nestled in the heart of the Smoky Mountains, accessible via an arduous 8-mile roundtrip hike. The trail offers a chance to immerse oneself in the beauty of old-growth forests and spot diverse wildlife along the way. While challenging, reaching the cascades rewards hikers with breathtaking views and a serene pool at the base of the falls.
A challenging yet beautiful trail to the Ramsey Cascades 😍😌 Bring water and snacks to take your very well deserved break at the top ❤️ When you do this trail, the most important thing to remember is that life is not a sprint, it's a marathon!! Definitely enjoy the journey to the top because you will get to a point where you don't want to go any further (it's a strenuous hike) but you can do it!!

Off the beaten path from where alotvof tourist go. Thus is a 4 mile hike one way. The first 1.5 miles is on q crushed wide limestone trail which used to be an old fire road. After this it gets more challenging especially the last quarter of q mile is yoivtrqverse through the borders until you finally reach the base of the largest waterfall in the smoky mtn np standing at 100ft drop.

Be prepared for a long hike. 8 miles round trip with a lot of elevation. Several people met along the way turned back before making it all the way. You will know you hiked when your finished, wow. You have to travel a ways down gravel roads to park to start your hike.

Really nice hike. The mile marker says 4 miles but my apple watch recorded 5.4 miles one way….. Hike starts with an easy walk but progressively gets difficult climbing up with no intention of getting easy….. The waterfall on the top is rewarding… Definitely a strenuous hike for beginners, and there isnt much to see until you reach the top. But i guess that is the beauty of hiking in general
Jems — Google review
No need to get there early. It is not that popular of a trail. Since this world is weird, not a lot of wonderful things are popular. This trail is a wonderful thing and it definitely deserves to be popular however it is not which is really nice and gives you a nice ability to have a peaceful time by yourself or whoever you’re going with. There is a beautiful waterfall at the very end of it and it is the tallest waterfall in the park. It will get strenuous at some point so I suggest somewhat experienced hikers go on this trail. You will have a wonderful time enjoying God‘s wonderful creation!

Mingus Mill, dating back to 1886, is a historic grist mill located in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. It offers demonstrations of its still-functional sluice, turbine, and other machinery. The site also features old cabins, homesteads, and historic cemeteries that tell endless stories from Native Americans and early settlers. Visitors can explore the park's history through ranger-led tours and events such as the Smokies Harvest Celebration at the Mountain Farm Museum.
The inside of the mill was closed but you can still walk around outside. Neat piece of history in a serene setting! Tip - you can quickly access the mill by taking the path located next to the restrooms. Mingus Mill is near the Smokemont Church and the Mountain Farm Museum, recommend adding all 3 stops to your road trip!

It's a nice little stop, parking area, plaque giving history of the mill and a short little walk down the water supply. There was another walk trail but we didn't walk it...we were on our way home and had just stopped to see the mill. The little trail is an easy walk for pretty much anyone and very short, I'm happy we stopped.

Just after the southern entrance of the Blue Ridge Parkway on 441 from Cherokee, the Mingus Mill is quick and easy stop that's free to explore and enjoy. This grist mill was in operation from the 1800s up until 1930 and it has been well preserved as original as possible. Lots of room to explore and see and various information plaques to read thru. The ground is easy to traverse even for people with a cane or mobility issues, but probably not recommended for wheelchairs.
B B — Google review
Nice if on your way but don’t go out of your way to stop here. Very small, trails are easy to walk not good for old people very wet and you can slip. Bathrooms were closed when we were there but you can pee in the woods.
Don T — Google review
While there technically is no cost the park is now charging a parking fee for stops over 15min. I did not see a pay kiosk here. For me this hike in May was rather muddy but I didn’t get muddy by the mill. It can be a quick and easy walk and see. After enjoying the mill and reading the signs; I then hiked to the cemetery. That hike is about 2 miles in and out. There were only 3 ppl I saw the entire time and they were hiking the opposite way. The cemetery while very cool is old and you can’t read the stones, not sure on details of who is laid to rest there. The cemetery is surrounded by mountain laurel which was in bloom. It appears that at some point it had been fenced with barbed wire. It’s all dilapidated now. While this is not a hard hike be advised the last little bit to the cemetery is up hill, again it was spring for me and waterproof footwear is advised. Today I also saw a female elk just barely off the path, she watched me pass and I was glad she seemed subdued. I always carry bear spray for those just incase moments but I kept a wide birth from her. Her ears were twitching and she didn’t take her eyes off me. I didn’t see any others. The bridges are narrow and unique but do the trick of keeping you dry. A lovely spot of woods!

Chimney Tops is a popular 2-mile trail in Great Smoky Mountain National Park, offering stunning views and a challenging hike. The trail begins at a parking lot near the Sugarlands Visitors Center and crosses Road Prong Creek via a footbridge. The final mile is steep, ascending through an old-growth forest with yellow buckeye trees and wildflowers before reaching a rocky scramble to the summit.
This place is gorgeous. The hike is definitely difficult (about 2 miles with over 1,400 feet of elevation gain,) but it’s completely worth it. It shouldn’t take more than a couple hours to get up, and only one to get down. The new viewing spot is incredible - you can’t go to the very top because of fire damage, and it’s unsafe, but you can clearly see the top and more from the new viewing point. PS, there are tons of little waterfalls!!

Incredible experience.., upon arrival at the trailhead, there was a sign saying we need some kind of pass which could only be purchased at the visitor center. We didn't have cell service, so we decided to not worry about it and never got a ticket... Moderately long and hard hike to the top, and access to the top is technically closed, we decided to ignore the signs and finish the hike, since the views are certainly worth it and it would've been sad to hike that long and not actually get to the best part!

Wow!! What an amazing hike. Beautiful from beginning to end. The peak was well worth the struggle to get there. It’s stunning. The trail on the way up is pretty difficult. You gain a ton of elevation rapidly. It was wet and there was melting snow around so trying not to fall became a goal. If you’re out of shape this one will work you pretty hard. We burned 800 calories on the way up 😀

Sugarlands Distilling Company is a popular moonshine maker located in downtown Gatlinburg. The rustic, industrial-chic distillery offers indoor and outdoor tours, tastings, and live music. Visitors can enjoy a full seasonal cocktail tasting led by an expert TasteMaker, featuring samples of moonshine, whiskey, and more with tasting notes and cocktail ideas.
The Behind the Stave experience was a relaxed way to experience Sugarland's products. Jeff, our great bartender and host let us know that we would have an opportunity to experience new and unique cocktails in their distillery's speak easy, and that did not disappoint. The speak easy lounge has nice ambient lighting and mellow and loud jazz music so that conversations could be held without having to raise your voice. Jeff prepared 3 full sized drinks for us, two with moonshine and the third you had a choice of moonshine or whiskey. The first was a unique and a pleasant surprise, the second was delicious and a great brunch cocktail, and my third choice was a classic and smooth whiskey drink. The vibe overall was relaxing. Jeff was pleasant, and entertaining, all while not taking away from the relaxed atmosphere. Also, if you are a whiskey fan and want to pour and label and seal your own bottle of Sugarland's whiskey, that is an option you can purchase when booking. For the attendees who purchased it, they seemed very happy with the results and it was a neat process to observe. I do have two suggestions for the Sugarland Team,: 1) At the time of my reservation in early October, 2025, the package was advertised as including 4 drinks. However, Jeff let us know that prior customers requested full size drinks instead of 4 small drinks, so this change to three full drinks was reasonable. I suggest that the website be updated to reflect this change so visitors will know what to expect; and 2) While the website at the time of my booking stated a factory tour was included, there wasn't one at the 8:30 pm tour that I participated in. I would suggest updating the website to remove this because frankly focusing on the speak easy experience alone was worth it. Overall, these suggestions do not take away from the great job by Jeff or from this being an enjoyable way to be introduced to moonshine and trying local whiskey.

Hands down, Sugarlands is the best! Not only is the product smoother and better tasting, but the staff is amazing! Maddie was our server and she was fantastic! Our group, as a whole, had so much fun. Maddie included everyone in the experience and, by the end of the tasting, it felt like we were all friends! Not only was she hilarious but she was very knowledgeable of the products and gave great ideas for mixing them! The fact that you can redeem your $5 wrist bands on products is an added bonus! Oh, and let’s not forget the bar out back! The drinks include a good pour and are delicious! We will be back!

We came here yesterday for the first time, had Brock as our host, he was HILARIOUS 😂!!! We had the best time, didn’t want it to end. My husband & I agreed that this distillery has waaaayyyy better flavors & tastes so much better than what Smokey Mountain offers. We will definitely be coming back next trip 🤍

Gatlinburg SkyPark offers an open-air chairlift ride to an 1,800-ft. overlook with stunning views of the Smoky Mountains. It features the longest pedestrian cable bridge in North America, known as the Gatlinburg SkyBridge, offering breathtaking views of downtown Gatlinburg and the Great Smoky Mountains. The park also includes the newly opened Gatlinburg SkyTrail with Tulip Tower, providing ADA accessibility along its Boardwalk section.
This was just breathtaking, you must go and take in the beauty of the scenery!! The chairlift ride up and down gave me thrills! When you get to the top of the mountain, you have the view of Gatlinburg and the mountains! And crossing the SkyBridge was an extraordinary experience, especially walking across 30 feet of clear glass panels in the middle of the bridge, where you can look straight down! Not to be missed! Also, the town of Gatlinburg is just wonderful. My husband and I really enjoyed walking along the Main Street area, with all the shops, attractions, places to eat, wineries, ice cream parlors.
Eva M — Google review
A great place to see the trees and explore atop the mountain... places to sit and enjoy the view, firepits, walking trails, food and beverage, too. Going across on the sky ridge was fun and not too scary...even managed the clear section of the bridgd, once my brain learned that I was supported.
Rose C — Google review
Absolutely incredible, breathtaking views! The ride in the ski lift up the mountain was just as fun. The center of the bridge is the only area where you can look straight down at the ground through the floor of the bridge. It does bounce pretty good if you try to stand in the center of the bridge. When you get to the other side, you can enjoy some food and drinks in the shade, if your lucky, it gets very crowded, and the prices are high.

This was fun! It’s a little pricey but so is everything else in Gatlinburg. The views were awesome. The ride on the ski lift up the mountain looked a lot steeper from the ground. It was a fun ride up and down. The skybridge is a nice walk with great views. The center of the bridge is glass and the you can look straight down at the ground. It has 6 huge cables and 4 more angled to the sides. It still sways and bounces especially at the center. When you get to the other side, there’s chairs on the patio to sit and enjoy the views. They have food and drinks available. We were here in November so it wasn’t crowded.
Rebel C — Google review
The view is astonishing, however a little pricey compared to what you have to purchase in order to have fun. Every ticket is separated so per person be ready to spend at least $60, not including food or drinks. For you/us smokers make sure you smoke enough before going up. You will find a "Please NO SMOKING" sign every few feet apart. I had my fun and enjoyed the stay.
Antuan M — Google review
My wife, friend and I finally got to walk across this awesome bridge. Views from the top are breathtaking! It was a cloudy day. Rained all week but bridge didn't disappoint. Tickets are pricey but worth it. Plenty of places to sit and food smelled really good. If we had not already eaten at a pancake house, we probably would have bought a smash burger.
James J — Google review
A fun affordable experience fir the whole family. You can test your courage by crossing the sky bridge or take the path below. The skybridge has spectacular views of Gatlinburg. You will love this place. Its a must see.
Scotties H — Google review
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ A once-in-a-lifetime view you’ll never forget! SkyPark in Gatlinburg isn’t just an attraction — it’s an experience that stays with you long after you leave. The moment you step onto the SkyLift and rise above the town, the Smoky Mountains unfold in front of you like a painting. Reaching the SkyBridge feels surreal — walking across the glass panels in the middle is thrilling yet peaceful, with the mountains stretching endlessly around you. What truly makes SkyPark special is the combination of adventure and serenity. The evening lights from downtown Gatlinburg sparkle below while the mountain silhouettes glow in the sunset. The SkyTrail adds a perfect touch of exploration, and every viewpoint feels designed for that perfect photo moment. The staff are friendly, the facilities spotless, and the atmosphere is pure magic — especially if you visit close to sunset when the colors shift from golden to deep blue. Whether you’re a solo traveler, a couple, or with family, SkyPark is the heart of Gatlinburg’s beauty — a must-visit that captures the soul of the Smokies.

Alcatraz East Crime Museum is a 25,000-square-foot museum located in The Island in Pigeon Forge. It features five galleries that cover the history of American crime, crime scene investigation, the consequences of crime, crime fighting, and pop culture. The museum showcases over 100 interactive exhibits and artifacts related to notorious criminals such as Al Capone and John Dillinger.
Experience! The Alcatraz East Crime Museum was absolutely fascinating! The exhibits are well organized and full of interesting facts about American crime history, from famous cases to forensic science. There’s a great mix of interactive displays, real artifacts, and educational information that keeps you engaged the entire time. The staff was friendly and knowledgeable, and the atmosphere made learning about history both fun and thought-provoking. I highly recommend it to anyone visiting Pigeon Forge — it’s a must-see attraction!

We visited on July 27, 2025. We had a wonderful time. There is not much for kids to do, so I would not plan to take kids. They will probably be bored. There also is not much room for strollers or for kids to run around and play. I would not pay extra for the audio tour. There wasn't really much to it. There are so many people and so much going on, remembering to play audio was another step to remember. There is a lot of reading. If you plan to read and take it all in, I would plan to be there all day. The staff wasn't friendly at all. We encounter one nice employee her name was Stephanie. Stephanie checked us out at the gift shop. You can take pictures as long as you do not use the flash on your camera. You can not record any video, though. Overall it was very interesting, we had a good time, the price for tickets wasn't bad at all, and the gift shop was affordable.

Had a great time learning tons of interesting facts and stories. Every exhibit was thorough and informative. We spent about an hour and a half through the whole museum. Would recommend for anyone in the area!
Dana W — Google review
This was my first time to the crime museum after several visits to the area. I arrived at 6pm with a 9pm closing time. Though I only saw about half of all the information there is to offer, I enjoyed everything I saw. Around 815pm I heard a voice saying things along the lines of "You need to hurry up. We dont have all night." I just figured it was a visitor trying to hurry their group along. As I continued through the museum, I heard more comments such as, "The museum closes at 9. We need to move along." I still didn't know who was making the comments. I had seen an employee passing through the spaces after 8pm, but hadn't given any thought to it. At about 8:25 pm I saw the employee speak to another employee, in an obvious manner so we visitors could here, "If people want to stop and look at everything, they need to get here earlier. They need to stop letting people in this late. I want to go home." I wasn't aware how far along in the museum I was, so hurried along through the rest. At 8:30pm the announcement was made that the museum will be closing in 30 minutes, over the loud speaker. That was followed by that recently familiar voice saying, "So move it on." I was out of the museum at 8:40pm, so as it turns out, we were being rushed out with about 30 minutes from the exit anyhow. I really enjoyed the museum and I would visit again, just probably earlier in the day.

It was pretty cool here. You definitely learn a lot about everything that happened in the past. Went during the daytime in the week. You were shoulder to shoulder with people. And that wasn't too pleasant. So it made seeing some things and reading some of the captions a little harder.
Trucker684955 — Google review
This is my second time going! I love it!! They have added more stuff since the first time we went, so it’s pretty cool that they add stuff and it’s not always the same when you go! Both times I had specifically went for Theodore Bundys stuff! Staff there are so sweet and nice! I had asked the manager a question about the bug and his response was not what I wanted buuut he was very nice about!! Just wish it was a little cheaper! That’s the only complain! But overall would go again and again!

This is an incredible museum! I highly recommend this museum. This was my second time in 10 years and it was amazing to see the updated information on cases. They are very updated on current crimes/cases. If you are interested in crimes of the medieval days the whole way up to modern day I recommend this place 100%. They have multiple interactive exhibits as well! Keeps the fun going for everyone!

The Mountain Farm Museum is a collection of historic log buildings that were relocated to the area in the 1950s. It offers living history exhibits and showcases traditional fall activities from rural life in the southern mountains. The museum is located near Cherokee, NC and provides demonstrations such as hearth cooking, apple butter making, blacksmithing, and more. Visitors can also enjoy outdoor activities like hiking, fishing, horseback riding, and cross-country skiing in the surrounding area.
This is probably the coolest rest stop I’ve ever been to. There have been elk everytime. More in the morning or evening. But there have always been at least a few. Nice 10-15 minute walk around through the primitive village.

This Farm Museum is located in a field behind the Oconaluftee Visitors Center. Wonderful location, along the river, surrounded by mountains, and full of history. Even if you don't need/want to go to the visitors center, the museum is worth the stop. Also close by is the Mingus Mill and the Smokemont church, highly recommend adding all three to your road trip!

Wow, this place was awesome. Driving to Pigeon Forge and happened to see this place. I absolutely love history and how people lived some 100+ years ago. This definitely shows you how life was. People complain today about having it so bad. People that lived on this farm, all they did was work every single day, mostly just to have food to eat. And nothing to just put in the microwave and take out and sit in front of a TV set. Everyone should have to live a week on a farm like this to know how good they have it. Rich or poor.

Before heading into Gatlinburg we made a stop here, and really glad we did. This was a pleasant surprise and a wonderful walk along the river to indulge in learning about the history of the items on the farm and the way of life. Run by the park service, and free it was great to get to walk and read about how things were utilized back in the day. I would recommend spending some time here and enjoying the walk-through time.

Also, there was so many elk, they were everywhere nearby and it was so cool! This was in mid March btw, hopefully they’ll be there next time I come to cherokee!

Rainbow Falls Trail is a must-visit in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park, offering stunning views and an 80-foot waterfall. The trail leads to Rainbow Falls, which cascades down Mount LeConte, the park's third highest peak. Named for its dazzling optical illusion, the falls emit kaleidoscopic beams resembling a rainbow when hit by sunlight. This 5.
Great waterfall and great hike to get there. Several small waterfalls along the way.
Peter S — Google review
The entire trail top to bottom is great. All of the improvements are from the trail head to the falls. Beyond that, it's pure back country as you'd hope for. The final mile is a killer gradient that is extremely rewarding, but a humbling experience!
Greg H — Google review
Hard hike! You are an incline all the way to the falls. A beautiful hike with lots of wildlife
Leesh M — Google review
Moderately challenging hike (1500 feet of gain over approx 2.8 miles) but if you take your time, I believe the view of the falls is worth the challenge. We saw plenty of families with children doing this hike, so I would say it is family friendly. Trail has several sections that are very rocky, so good trail shoes are needed for the experience.
J M — Google review
It’s very good for hiking but the scenery is not that worth it… make sure plan must be the way, you must reach before sunset… no food is allowed… it’s better to keep bear spray and parking is available
Meghana J — Google review
Beautiful trail that is a good 5.5-6 miles. The waterfall at the end is a nice refreshed to look forward to at the end.
Bailey E — Google review
Beautiful trail! It’s definitely more of a 6 mile round trip. Lots of roots and large rocks on the trail to trip you up. Most would label it moderate since it is up hill to the falls. We saw a bear digging under a log about 15 yards off the trail. It had zero interest in us. Parking is tight but there were several lots and people coming and going enough that a little patience got us a spot. Bathrooms right at the trailhead was nice too. Take plenty of water!
Chris B — Google review
Beautiful waterfall trail. It had surprisingly a lot of elevation gain. The trail itself is pretty short, but the elevation gain makes it a lot harder. Most of it is in the woods except for a few views and small waterfalls, but the waterfall at the end makes it all worth it. You can also walk behind the waterfall. The rainbow caused by the waterfall was pretty visible but less visible on camera, so there’s an edited picture attached to help you see it better.

First of all , I highly recommend pairing this visit with a drive through Cades Cove...made the perfect day trip . The museum and gift shop areas are very nice . Lots to see and read throughout the building and I feel it's just enough to hold the interest of younger children while also being informative and thought provoking for teens and adults . The tour of the outside structures are probably better suited for a cooler day ...but if you really want to have an authentic experience and see just how it felt living and working without electricity I highly suggest a visit in July .

Ben Morton Overlook, located in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park, is a popular roadside stop along Route 441 that offers stunning sunset views. The westward-facing vantage point provides breathtaking panoramas of the forested canyon and skyline ridges. This spot is particularly renowned for its picturesque sunset views during late spring through high summer. It's an ideal location for capturing sunset photography and offers a less congested alternative to other nearby pullouts.
Our stay at the Smokies has been wonderful and today, we went around noon, driving around after 2 days of rain, and were pleasantly surprised by the layer of snow/ice from the viewing spot. It was so so beautiful. So glad we chose to come here.

Ben Morton Overlook is hands down the most stunning viewpoint I’ve encountered in the park. The lush, rolling mountains stretch endlessly into the distance, and the way the road winds gently through the valley adds a unique, almost cinematic touch to the view. It feels like a hidden gem—peaceful, panoramic, and perfect for photos or just soaking in the natural beauty. If you’re driving along Newfound Gap Road, this is a must-stop. This renowned theater boasts a diverse lineup of entertainment, featuring ventriloquists, jugglers, magicians, singers, trained animals, and top comedians from around the country. This is a great source of entertainment for all ages. My favorites were the dogs, ventriloquist, and pingpong ball guy (who was hilarious). I highly recommend going to the Comedy Barn if you are in the area!

This is NOT something that we would normally go out and see. However, someone mentioned they saw it last night and it was great so we read the reviews and decided to give it a try. 2nd experience and didn't disappoint! Would highly recommend to anyone with or without children. Nice clean fun!! P.s. If the absolutely hilarious ping pong guy tells you not to shake the shield/glass because he will he you in the forehead with the ping pong ball then don't do it because he will. And if you choose to do so and he chooses to do so, dont get butt hurt and leave. Really hope that man doesn't get in trouble because he just meant for it to be funny. And he gave 3 warnings. Lmbo.

Comedy Barn is a FAMILY institution in the south! Ty for ur commitment to clean, family entertainment. Ur a rare find in the world today! This review reflects the opinion of four generations who have enjoyed Comedy Barn for over 20 years. My family attended the 7:00 show. Comedy Barn did not disappoint!! Dan Devaney had all four (4) generations of my family in stitches. We were laughing to tears!! He was beyond WONDERFUL! The bird skit was awesome!! The birds flying over the crowd was unexpected and captivating! Altho, I do miss more with the rescue dogs.🎄Ventriloquist pushed the envelope. He included material which was “not” appropriate for children and teens. Pls don’t let ur family-friendly standards slip. America needs Comedy Barn to continue to be wholesome FAMILY fun.

Our 2nd trip to the Comedy Barn was just as amazing as our first, and ended even better this time!! Our favorite performers were the dog act, Kendall (she is sooo sweet) and DANNY!!! 🤩 My son Zev even asked Danny for his hat & he gave it to him! He signed the tag too! Totally made his night! Thank you Danny!

We saw the Christmas show. It was great. So much fun. Great stage people, they changed the setup, they keep you laughing, show was over 2 hours. You do have to wait for the doors to open, seats are assigned, no need to hurry early. I would go there next time I visit, one of the best.

If I could give this place a million stars I would. My husband saw the sign for the comedy barn and said we should check it out. I wasn't sure if it would be appropriate for our kids (5yrs and 4months) but the reviews looked okay. When I say wrong had the time of our life im not joking (pun intended 🙃). Everyone was so welcoming, funny, and wholesome. We sat in the front row (blessed to get tickets from a lady with extra) and my husband even got called up on stage. This was a fun place for the whole family but even more than that....its a hidden gem!! Hidden gem for pure and wholesome values. These people strive for clean family fun and man do they deliver. My husband is already wanting to go check out another skit tomorrow 😆 🤣 because he was in absolute tears of laughter the whole night. Even right now...he is replaying all the videos of the night. The place was so clean, despite being crowed. Its rare to see a place and employees have actual pride in their place anymore but they truely do!! Loved the salute to service members at the end!! They really do a great job of honoring their promise to provide clean family fun when they bought this place from the prior family who filmed hehaw. One last rave about this place. I had to feed my baby during the show and they told me to sit anyway I needed to, to feel comfortable (balcony or offered me a room with a door) for any other moms our there, this is so far from "mummy can't you feed your baby in a bathroom". We will be telling everyone about this place!!!!!!

Clingmans Dome is the highest peak in the Great Smoky Mountains, standing at 6,643 feet. At its summit sits an observation tower built in 1959 and recently updated by the National Park Service. On clear days, visitors can enjoy breathtaking views stretching up to 100 miles, although haze often limits visibility to around 20 miles. This iconic landmark offers a relatively easy walk to reach the top without muddy hiking involved.
Amazing views. Parking takes a while and the half a mile hike on a paved path is steeper than you think (just take your time and you are good). Bring water and take breaks. The views from the top are worth the trek. Highly recommend.

Such an interesting observation tower finished in 1959! Great views of the surrounding mountains. Plenty of parking is available but you will need to walk half a mile up a relatively steep hill. Make sure you have the park pass displayed on your vehicle. They are available for purchase in the parking lot.

Fantastic experience. Believe me, you earn the view. If you must stop going up the 1/2 mile trek, do so. But, don't give up because it is a hard climb, unless you have medical issues. It is wonderful and beautiful. Climb grade is 10-15 degrees.

Great views! Just don't get caught off guard. It's only .6 miles, but it's straight up. Be in shape, or prepare to make many stops along the way. Paved all the way up and there are benches every so often, but I stopped much more frequently than that lol

A nice short, but energetic hike up an inclined paved path to an awesome 360 degree view of the park. Also a great way to tire-out the kids. I'd like to visit again to see the view in every season!

My husband and I enjoyed our visit to Kuwohi (formerly Clingsman Dome). It was a very crowded, autumn, beautiful Saturday afternoon when we visited in early October. The hike to the top is only a half mile long, but pretty steep. There’s lots of places to rest. The trail is wide and paved to allow handicapped access. There are beautiful views from the parking lot and all the way up. The dome itself was the only part that felt really crammed, despite how busy it was every where.

The hike to the observation tower is steep, very steep. So be prepared to go up the half mile. Unfortunately it was very cloudy and we couldn't see a panoramic view of the smokes but it was still beautiful. Somewhat cold so take a jacket.

Elkmont Historic District, situated just 10 miles from Gatlinburg, Tennessee, is a significant historic area within the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. Originally inhabited since prehistoric times, the district saw its first settlements with European settlers in the early 1800s. The village flourished around the timber industry and has now become a main campground within the park.
Such a gorgeous, tranquil area. We loved absolutely everything. There is NO cell phone service, so while using Google maps, drop a pin on everything you want to see and do before you get there so you can use your maps offline to reach the areas you want to explore. This is a hidden GEM. Pack a picnic lunch, you won't want to leave.

Really fun place to explore around. My first real trip in to the smokey mountains. Amd coming from someone who grew up in Colorado and lived there for 29 years. They are absolutely beautiful! Felt a lot like home!

A nice stop to walk and stretch your legs on your way to Kuwohi or other areas at the park. You are able to to go back in time and see the old log cabins. No internet in the area. Prepare accordingly.
Guanica R — Google review
Not the typically ghost town that I thought it was but it was cool to learn the history of it. It’s a handful of cabins that are vacant and that you can just walk through. There were local artists out there painting, which was awesome to see.

Culture, history and nature in one stop! The drive back past the campground has opportunity to see wildlife. The cabins show how time has changed expectations of peace and relaxation. This once mountain vacation get away community has some good stories to tell. Our entire family loved learning about it!

Really cool took the time to read the displays.. learned a lot.. grand kids were claiming which houses were theirs.. daughter told me the location is very near where they have the firefly event every year. That sounded pretty cool also. Large national camping park. Very near.
Jeffrey S — Google review
I really loved this place. An added plus, even though the government is shut down, a park ranger was there ready to tell the stories of the people who once lived in the homes. He was both informative and a great storyteller. The homes have great character and are well maintained. If you go past the homes and walk down millionaire row you can visit the remnants of the homes that once occupied this spot. There are beautiful ruins of the fireplaces that still remain with some foundation and retaining walls. I enjoy a good hiking trail with history.

This place isn't like a creepy abandoned town. It's more of a mid 1900 luxury type cabins for the more affluent people of the time that was moved out of the National Park area.

The Appalachian Trail is a renowned 3,000+ mile hiking trail that spans from Georgia to Maine, with around 70 miles passing through Great Smoky Mountains National Park. It offers stunning views and challenging terrain, making it a popular choice for outdoor enthusiasts. The trail features well-maintained paths and even includes thoughtful gestures like leaving water bottles for hikers. While the hike can be difficult, the seclusion and natural beauty make it a worthwhile experience.
Over the years I’ve traveled I-40 I never realized how close I was to the Appalachian Trail until I was forced to slow down due to high gas prices. It’s a blessing and a curse I guess because if not for the high gas prices I wouldn’t have seen the greatness this country has to offer. So, thank you? By the way if someone comes across my expensive blue Contigo cup I just purchased a month ago from Walmart, know it will be missed. As soon as I’m able I’m going to buy a Coleman type canteen so I can lay it across my shoulder while walking the dogs and taking pictures. It was an expensive lesson to learn. I’ll give everyone a hint on where I left it. It’s where the trolls live, out in the open and easy to spot. Anyway, on with the review. I hiked as high on the Appalachian Trail as my ailing body would let me which wasn’t very far. I can handle level ground and some hills but this trail is not for the disabled, though it was very beautiful. The people rafting and the employees were kind and courteous which made my short stay pleasant especially after going through unpleasantness from a short time earlier. There is really no room for large RVs in this area. Mine was fine but when the canoe busses would pass it was a little tight. I found a large enough spot to park so I could walk the trail and so I can say that I was on it. I wish I had more time and energy to hike more of this trail. The dogs were loving it.

It's a real place, it's a hidden trail that looks like stairs going up the side of the mountain from the road. There is a sign a few stairs up that talks about the trail and someone even leaves bottles of water for the hikers that travel up! You need good, comfortable hiking shoes, pack light with only the needs for hiking and maybe a good walking stick! I highly recommend bug spray!

Deep Creek Trail is a 4.6-mile loop that offers stunning streams, waterfalls, and diverse wildlife. The wide gravel trail connects to various campsites and a short spur trail leading to the impressive Indian Creek Falls, featuring a 45-foot waterfall and a large wading pool. Additionally, the trail serves as a starting point for tubing adventures. Hikers can enjoy picturesque views of three beautiful falls along with serene riverfront paths before ascending into the tranquil mountains.
Well worth the visit! Three falls, all really beautiful. Hiking along the river, nice open trail for a while. Going on the rest of the trail led through the quiet mountain, a climb. If you want a good hike this is it!

This is in the National Forest and is fantastic. The only moderate part is the trail to Juney-Whank. Restaurant
Nestled in a complex with country cooking eateries, pottery, candy, and toy shops, The Old Mill Restaurant is a haven for soul-satisfying Southern comfort food. It's renowned as one of the most popular restaurants in the Great Smokies region. Despite potential wait times, visitors are assured that their breakfast will be worth it. The restaurant is known for serving insanely large portions and is recommended for those with hearty appetites.
If you come on a weekend, expect about an hour wait. We arrived around 7pm and were told the wait was 1 hr and 20 minutes, luckily we got seated around 45 minutes. Food, portion is LARGE and we were surprised it came with so many sides and even dessert! They have house-made ice cream! The food was good and not salty. Service was great. Ask for the pot roast gravy for the mash potato, it’s so delicious.
Ava T — Google review
We went around 1:30 pm for lunch and had no wait! From all the reviews and word of mouth, was told food was amazing. The fried chicken was superb, but the green beans and mash potatoes were lacking flavor. Mashed potatoes reminded me of boxed potatoes. The chicken n dumplings were good. I was under whelmed with the corn fritters, I was hoping for more of a hushpuppy and flavor. It's basically fried dough. They serve it with maple butter. I am not a fan. The fritter tasted better dipped in the vegetable and corn chowder soup. The soups were good. The corn chowder was better than I expected and had a lot of flavor. It was a mix between gravy and soup. The portion size was generous and we left with Togo boxes. The lunch entrée didn't include dessert.

Fantastic and Beautiful Restaurant , highly recommend. This was our first time as we're traveling on vacation. I've been in the area 5 days and wished I'd found it sooner. We had a great table overlooking the water on the second floor. My husband had prime rib cooked perfectly for humans I had turkey and stuffing meal with fried okra , mashed potatoes, greenbeans, corn chowder soup. For desert we had blackberry cobler with a scoop of vanilla ice cream. The blackberry cobler was Amazing ,in fact the best I've ever had !! I have to say they have alot of great staff and our waitress Cheslee D was spot on with refills and checking on us, very polite, great at multitasking, she's good for your business. Our meal price included desert, soup and salad and really good portions. 30.99 for 8 oz prime rib, baked potato, green beans ,garden salad and a cup a soup plus desert...Outstanding food 😋 Outstanding service.

My wife and visiting in town decided to try this place, based on good reviews. Well it was actually pretty good. I had the omelette as pictured and the wife had the classic breakfast which is a sample of all the classics. The only thing the small pancakes were served cold. Other than that it was pretty good, in fact the grits were pretty good too, and I do recommend. It's not a place I would go to every day, but I do give it a good review. Prices were pretty reasonable as well. 👍

Amazing!!!! Top resturant in the area for sure!!!!! We ate at the apple barn a day or two before and it has NOTHING on the old mill. The service was spectacular and super fast. The food was fresh and filling! You get so much food you could easily share with another person. We also talked family into trying it (they only eat togo due to health issues) and they went back for several days and got Togo food. We arrived around 4pm and walked right in. The parking is a little difficult but its totally worth it. We walked around the little village before eating and bought a few goodies.

There was a long wait to dine at this restaurant. We gave our name and waited over 30 minutes for them to call us in the loud speaker. While we waited, we browsed the adjoining gift shop. They have so many fun and unique things for sale. When they finally called our name we went back to the restaurant and we were seated. I ordered liver and onions. My companion ordered fried chicken tenders. Both meals came with seasoned green beans, mashed potatoes, corn chowder. While we wait for our meals, we were brought some sweet fried things. They looked like hush puppies but they were better than that. So good. Our whole meal was delicious and definitely worth the wait.

The old Mill is one of the restaurants that lived up to all of the hype! It was so delicious we went twice, and you WILL NOT leave hungry! The corn fritters and chowder were AMAZING, the chicken and dumplings were super good, the pot roast was tasty, and the desserts were to die for. Plus service was great and they were easy going, I don't like salad so I was able to get a cup of fruit instead (wasn't exactly listed as a side but they accommodated. Whether your here early or late your going to wait, but it was nice that they quoted an hr and both times we only waited like 40 mins at most.

Had such a great dinner that we returned for breakfast! Fast friendly service. Great atmosphere. Beautiful scenery. Delicious food. SO MUCH FOOD! exceptional value for the money. The TITANIC Museum Attraction in Pigeon Forge offers an immersive experience dedicated to the famous ship. Shaped like the Titanic itself, the museum features recovered artifacts and interactive exhibits that change annually, focusing on different aspects of the passengers and the ship. Visitors receive a ticket representing a real-life passenger at the start of their journey. Inside, there are replicas of staterooms and dining halls with stunning architectural details matching those of the original Titanic.
The Titanic Museum Attraction was absolutely fascinating! The exhibits are beautifully presented and very informative. I loved how interactive the experience was — from touching the iceberg to walking the grand staircase. The staff were friendly and knowledgeable, and everything was well organized. It’s both educational and emotional, and I highly recommend it to anyone visiting Pigeon Forge!

It's a nice experience if you're into historian events or if you enjoyed the movie (as they have an entire section devoted to it). We missed a couple of things while on the tour, but it still didn't seem like it was that big. It took us about an hour to finish the tour. Overall, though, it's a nice museum and gives you a very detailed look at the events that occurred.
Russ M — Google review
I really enjoyed learning about the Titanic. Several rooms were recreated to look exactly like those on the ship, which made the experience feel very real. When you enter, you’re given a boarding pass with the name of an actual passenger, but you won’t find out whether that person survived until the end. You can also feel how cold the water was—the same icy temperature many passengers faced. Overall, it was a fascinating and engaging experience for both kids and adults.
Traveling M — Google review
My mother and I really wanted to come here for our family vacation and it was okay. Definitely didn't learn anything I didn't already know about the ship however there were a few interactive games you could participate in if you like to. When we order tickets, you had to select a time slot (which is thought maybe that would mean not many people), however we could barely move along the ship and had a awful time seeing everything we wanted to see. Beside thats no complaints
Savanna B — Google review
Such an amazing museum! This and another in TN, if I remember correctly, are privately owned. So informative with artifacts about the ship, it's crew, and the people. A great stop if you are wanting to do something in the area. Self guided or you can download an audio tour. The hosts know thier history and the many people that traveled on the ship. How long g can you keep your hand in 28 degree water? You can try it. The ice cream shop is wonderful.
Daniel — Google review
We had such a wonderful experience at the Titanic Museum. It was so eye opening to read about what happened that night and see actual artifacts from the wreckage. The grand staircase was the most beautiful thing ever. It's amazing that it's an exact replica. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves!
Erin K — Google review
OMG!!! This was a great experience!!! Sooo informative. You even get to touch the 28° water to feel how cold it was. As you enter you get a "Boarding Pass" which contains info of one of the passengers. At the end of the tour you will see the names of the passengers etched on a blue wall and there you can see whether you survived or not.
Rosalind D — Google review
This was a great experience. It is a bit expensive but it is worth it. This is geared more towards teens and adults. A lot of reading and actual belongings of some of the passengers. Also, there is a lot of Bios about some of the people aboard. You are given a card of an actual passenger. Towards the end you can see if you survived or not. Great photo ops on the grand staircase, and outside. The iceberg area is very cold and you can feel what 28° water feels like. You can also stand on the varying degrees onthe ships main deck to experience how hard it was to hang on.

The Great Smoky Mountains Railroad is a historic railway that offers scenic journeys through the picturesque countryside of the Great Smoky Mountains. The vintage steam trains depart from a historic depot and take passengers on pleasure trips to explore parts of the region not easily accessible by car. The routes showcase historic landmarks, rivers, lakes, and stunning autumn foliage during the right season. Passengers can choose from various themed journeys, including family-friendly excursions and adult-only trips featuring wine, beer, and moonshine experiences.
I recently had the chance to ride the Great Smoky Mountains Railroad, and it was an experience I will never forget. One of the highlights was the Moonshine Tasting experience, which included eight different moonshine samples paired with a BBQ lunch. I was not expecting much from the BBQ plate, but it completely surprised me. The meat was tender, the flavors were spot on, and all of the sides were just as delicious. Our guide made the ride even better by keeping everyone entertained with jokes, fun facts, and plenty of energy throughout the trip. The train offers both enclosed and open-air cars. If the weather is nice, I highly recommend the open-air option since there is no window glare in your photos and you get to enjoy the fresh mountain air. Between the stunning scenery, great food, fun atmosphere, and wonderful staff, the Great Smoky Mountains Railroad is absolutely worth the trip. I would love to do it again in a heartbeat.

Our family took the Nantahala Excursion Steam Engine on Oct 3rd and it was amazing. We definitely recommend the open air car if the weather is nice, like it was when we went. The views were great and the overall ride was a good length. The website said 4.5 hours total but we arrived back at the station 5 hours after we departed. It gives you time to take plenty of pictures and videos as well as time to just sit back, relax and enjoy the views. During the layover, we opted to grab lunch from the food car and eat at the picnic tables by the river instead of attempting to get food at one of the restaurants at the NOC. It looked busy and an hour isnt enough time to make the walk, get your food, eat and be back on-board in time. We really enjoyed the ride and highly recommend it.

This was a great experience! We were in town for our anniversary and this was a perfect 1/2 day trip. We left at 1030 and saw some beautiful scenery along the way. Some interesting facts were shared with us such as the train wreck scene from The Fugitive was filmed on this rail line and we got to see the wrecked train, which is still there, along the way. We arrived in Dillsboro and had about 1.5 hours for lunch and looking around the small town. The ride back was fun because we saw things from a different perspective. Well worth the time investment! Highly recommend this if you like trains and wonderful mountain scenery!
Randy J — Google review
The Great Smoky Mountains Railroad scenic railroad located in Bryson City is a wonderful experience that should be recommended for anyone and everyone that appreciates the beauty of the Smoky Mountains and Western North Carolina. A great ride for families, couples, individuals, and even large groups, age does not matter. Regardless of the time of year, you will have an opportunity to enjoy endless scenic views. The typical route will last roughly a total of four hours, and can be most enjoyed on an open air car, especially if you are able to secure seats on the south side of the train. This affords the better vantage point. Depending on your class of seats, light refreshments and snacks are available and sufficient for a picnic afternoon, but don’t expect to be wowed by food. The town of Bryson City is also an attraction in and of itself, and the railroad company has installed several attractions and shops for visitors, including a historic train museum. We selected the Nantahala Gorge route which afforded beautiful views of the Nantahala River, along with a great number of tributaries, lakes, and mountains. The one very glaring and very negative part of the experience is parking. Parking is an absolute nightmare, especially on days with more full trains. Despite an enormous staff on site to direct guests, there is either not enough parking to accommodate all visitors, or they have not efficiently crafted a method for directing traffic. We arrived on site 40 minutes prior to our schedule train ride (2 P.M.) and did not depart our car in a parking spot until after 2 P.M., despite having traveled less than 500 feet. Thankfully the train was held, but the delay was also unexpected and unnecessary. That would be the only variable preventing us from a second visit. Also, in case of inclement weather, there is no covered seating adjacent to the train station to accommodate visitors waiting to board the train.

We went on the Tuskegee River ride and we rode first class on 11/24/2025. The train was lovely, lunch was delicious and the views of the river were spectacular. Our guide Jacob was wonderful and very knowledgeable about the area. He took good care of us and kept our drinks refilled too! The town of Dillsboro was very cute and shops had lots of beautiful items from local artisans. The first class car was clean and comfortable. Train museum was free and we really enjoyed that too. All in all a great day!

What a great time!! We decided to get tickets in an open air car so we can get better views and for the picture opportunities and it did not disappoint. The views are spectacular especially sitting on the station side of the train going to the NOC. The bridges and and the lake views almost are worth the ride alone. We will definitely be back for another ride.

We reserved the 9am ride and it was very cold. We brought blankets and hot coffee. Conductors were very informative. Scenery was absolutely breath taking. Extremely relaxing. 1 hour stop was along the tracks with not much to do with the time given. Lunch was rushed with a mediocre bbq sandwich which was overpriced at a food truck located along a park. We didn't purchase the bag lunches. Other than that, the trip was a great experience. We rode in the open air caboose which allowed for the best pictures.

Magical ride through the mountains! We took the Tuskegee Expedition on the Great Smoky Mountains Railroad, and it was an unforgettable experience — especially with the beautiful Christmas decorations! From the moment we arrived, everything felt festive and well-organized. The staff was cheerful, helpful, and really added to the holiday spirit. 🎅🏼🎁 The train itself was cozy and clean, with twinkling lights, garlands, and Christmas music playing softly in the background. The scenic ride through the Smokies was breathtaking — we even spotted some snow-dusted peaks! ❄️🚂 Snacks and drinks were a nice touch, and the narration about the area’s history made the trip even more enjoyable. It’s the perfect mix of holiday magic and mountain charm — great for couples, families, or anyone who loves a good Christmas experience. We’d absolutely do it again next year! 🌟❤️

We visited here last night 6/21/24 to see Diamond Rio. It was a great concert in a great venue. One of the best concerts we've been to in quite a while. The seats are comfy and it wasn't too hot in the theater, which was nice. Diamond Rio performed most of their hit songs that we all wanted to hear and they definitely didn't disappoint. Great show Diamond Rio!! Also, we have been to the regular Country Tonite show in the past a few years ago and it's definitely worth viewing as well. We plan on coming back for the regular show again at some point in the future. I've also noticed on some previous reviews folks complaining about the seat size and it being uncomfortable. I am 250 pounds, a pretty broad fella, and I never had an issue with the seat size. I could see if I was much larger like I was at one point in my life at 330 pounds it would have been a much tighter fit, but when I was that big I expected to be more uncomfortable at my bigger size. I don't see the need to leave a bad review about seats unless they were severely too small, which they definitely are not.

It's labor day weekend and the traffic is terrible. I feel sorry for these nice little shops because it takes forever to get anywhere or to find a specific shop and a parking spot. Apparently this is a great shopping center because it's so busy. If it is like this everyday then I would suggest a few red lights. There are several places to eat too that look great we just couldn't because there wasn't any parking available. I want to come back when it's not so busy so I can check out the shops and restaurants. The video is short because it's the only parking spot we could find.

Shopper’s paradise — with plenty nearby! Tangier Outlets really has just about every store you can think of. Whether you’re looking for clothes, shoes, or deals on big brands, this place has you covered. The parking lots can look packed, but they’re bigger than you’d expect — give it a minute and a good spot usually opens up. It’s also in a great location, close to plenty of restaurants and other shopping areas, so you can easily make a whole afternoon of it. Great spot to let your wife (or anyone who loves to shop) explore while you grab a bite or tag along for the deals!

Parking and traffic are atrocious even during the slowest times of the year. It's best to park in one place and walk to wherever you're going. You're not going to be able to drive to the shops that you want to go; you won't be able to park. Wide selection of shops from various vendors. They really need to have additional parking in the area and easier access.

Water & Amusement Parks
Dollywood's Splash Country is a 35-acre water park inspired by Dolly Parton, offering a variety of water slides. Located near the Great Smoky Mountains, it's conveniently close to several attractions and annual events. The park provides free admission for kids under 3 and features kid-friendly areas like Little Creek Falls with shallow pools and fun slides, as well as The Cascades where children can explore hidden misters, bubblers, and slides in secret coves around the pool perimeter.
Okay, I'm gonna say it. This place rocks. Better than Dollywood, if you like to get wet. Do on a weekday in August. We had no wait to get in ans did every ride, twice, before there were any lines. All the food was great and actually priced reasonably. A personal pizza for $10 is a good deal. We brought our reusable water bottles and there were plenty of fill stations. If you wear glasses, make sure to bring a device that will secure your glasses to your head, or you'll have to take them off. You can't wear water shoes on most rides, so flip flops would have been a better choice for easy on and off. Will definitely make a trip down for this again!

Great time at Dollywood’s Splash Country! While it’s not as massive as some of the big-name parks in Florida, it offers plenty of fun and a great rides to keep everyone entertained. The wave pool is a blast, and the lazy river was one of our favorites, relaxing and beautifully maintained. One of the things that really sets this park apart is the setting. Surrounded by trees and mountain landscape, it has a charming country forest vibe that makes it feel special and less commercialized. The atmosphere is calm and family-friendly. The service throughout the park was excellent. Staff were friendly and helpful, and we really appreciated the free cups of water available all day, such a thoughtful touch, especially in the summer heat. Food options were ok, but definitely better priced than what you’d find in larger parks. We had a cabana by the lazy river and it was great! Shaded and with a TV and comfortable chairs and sofas, you can order food and drinks and have it delivered to you, they made a mistake in our food order and solved it right away, they were great! Excellent costumer service. There’s also a souvenir shop with all the basics you might need for a water park day, plus cute swimwear and gifts to take home. All in all, Dollywood’s Splash Country is a great option for families looking for a fun day in the water without the overwhelm of massive crowds or long lines. Highly recommend if you’re in the Pigeon Forge area!

We visited on a weekday and were surprised by the heavy crowd — most rides had long wait times throughout the day. There was also about a one-hour delay due to lightning within a 10-mile radius, which is understandable for safety but did cut into our time. We entered around 1 PM, but the park is open from 10 AM to 7 PM. If you’re planning a visit, it’s best to arrive right at opening (10 AM) to make the most of your day and beat the lines. The park itself is clean and fun with great water attractions, but definitely plan ahead and expect some delays during peak summer days.

The kids and I had a blast!!! Beautiful and very clean. All rides and activities are super fun. It was very helpful purchasing the fast pass as some rides the line was very long and waiting in the heat with kids was a NO!! One comment is the life guards were very young and some didn’t have a clue what they were doing.
Duewa A — Google review
A little disappointed here. One of the main rides we traveled for was out of service. Which i know you can control. But, the food was so overpriced it forced us to leave by lunch to seek it somewhere else. Each ride had a lifeguard, which was great, however each lifeguard had their own rules on what you can wear, or can wear on the rides. So we were forced to take things off and or put things at our sitting area just to get to the ride and be told we could or couldn't wear another item. Example: water shoes, swim shirts, sun glasses etc... They are not all on the same page as far as the rules go. Plenty of seats available, and water was fine in September. Prepare to bring more money then expected to spend here if you are staying all day. (Example: dip and dots =13$, chicken tenders and fries =14$)

This place was amazing, It was a hot day with lots of people, but this place is designed so well! They made good use of nature to provide shade while you waited in line, or added shade umbrellas to select areas as you go up the steps. The staff was very friendly and I was surprised the food was so good as well. I recommend the souvenir mugs with free refills.

I took my two granddaughters that flew in from California into Kentucky where I live. We planned to spend a couple days in Pigeon Forge and visit Dollywood. Grandchildren had a spectacular time. They were really impressed at how beautiful the park was as they have gone to Disney world and great America. They said Dolly really takes care of her visitors. The way that lines were in the shade, misting water and plenty of fans going. All the workers were really accommodating and nice. I didn't see a full garbage while I was there. The bus service from the parking lot to the two different parks was a nice free service. One more thing, I like that we all had purchased an initial cup for drinking all day and we didn't have to stand in line to get refills. We had access to get refills ourselves. Excellent excellent Park. We had a blast. Thanks Dolly we love you.

Such fun in the sun! An aquatic paradise nestled between the mountains. From the wave pool to the lazy river and all the fun waterslides in between Splash country has it all. We visited on a Monday and it wasn't too crowded, the public areas were clean and the food was surprisingly delicious and of good quality. I can't wait to return 🌊

Scenic Helicopter Tours - Smoky Mountain offers breathtaking sightseeing flights over the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. The experience is described as both picturesque and exhilarating, providing a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to soar above the mountains. Visitors have praised the knowledgeable and friendly staff, with pilots like Tyler and Cole receiving high praise for their professionalism.
This place is amazing and the staff is so friendly. My 12 year old son is scared of heights but they assured him he would be fine. They made sure he understood what would happen and he agreed to go. Our pilot had just become a Dad 11 days before and was super friendly. I would recommend a longer tour. We did the shortest one they had and it was over in the blink of an eye. Definitely worth the money to go for longer. The gift shop is great and we ended up getting some pictures.

Wonderful flight experience with Line Pilot Philipp! We did the Extended Lake View and it was absolutely beautiful! He made good conversation through our helicopter tour and had a fun personality that had us laughing too! Thanks for the good time in the sky! Highly recommend and would definitely do again next time we’re in Tennessee!
Nicole L — Google review
Phillip was outstanding! He helped make sure my son felt comfortable on his first ride. He was very personable and knowledgeable about our flight path. Shared fun facts and silly jokes. Definitely want to fly with him again next time we're down! We love the crazy German 🤣
Ashley — Google review
I’m usually terrified of heights and prone to motion sickness, so I was pretty nervous when my husband suggested a helicopter tour. But I decided to take one for the team—and I’m so glad I did! It turned out to be one of the most beautiful experiences ever. Our pilot, Philip, was amazing—calm, friendly, and clearly experienced. The ride was incredibly smooth, and the views were absolutely breathtaking. I was shocked at how relaxed I felt the entire time. We did the extended lake tour, and I highly recommend it—it’s truly stunning from start to finish. If you’re in town, definitely book a tour! They have something for everyone and every budget. Even if you’re nervous like I was, trust me—you’ll be so glad you went!

Very friendly and professional staff! Everyone seemed to be happy to help and got everyone excited for the trip! We did the Scenic River Ride which was a quick 5 minute trip. Perfect for my first time! They really prioritize safety and helped us in and out of it. Our pilot Adam was very energetic and fun! Told us some facts and it was a super smooth ride! Thank you!! We will definitely be back and do some longer tours!! Worth the money!!!
Maria S — Google review
The staff here were professional and very courteous. The facility was clean and inviting. Pilot Adam took my family of 5 out on a 25 minute flight. We all had headphones and were able to communicate with each other as well as the pilot. Adam kept us informed of everything we were flying by but also allowed us to ask questions. We were able to take pictures and video during the flight . I highly recommend flying with Scenic Helicopter Tours. It's a bit pricey for any flights 15 minutes and longer but you'll definitely enjoy it.

It was my husband‘s and my first time flying in any type of aircraft. From the moment we got there to the moment we landed. It was a very excellent experience. Hannah talked us through it and took our pictures before we flew. She’s has an Excellent personality. Our pilot Adam was very informative during our flight. Our flight over the Douglas Dam was really pretty. And t hen we met Phillip who helped us with our photo purchase. It was an A+ experience we would recommend them to anyone looking for an adventure.

Philipp thank you so much for such a amazing experience of first time flying i definitely plan on doing it again and it makes me want to learn how to fly so when me and my wife get to come back you will definitely be asked to be the pilot to fly us again that you so much for such a wonderful experience 😊

The Great Smoky Arts & Crafts Community in Gatlinburg, Tennessee is a hub of local culture and creativity. It's home to over 80 artists and craftsmen along an 8-mile loop road, making it the largest independent organization of artisans in the United States. Visitors can explore cozy stores offering handcrafted woodwork, pottery, and more while having the chance to connect with the artists themselves. Additionally, there are restaurants and B&Bs in the area for a complete experience.
The Gatlinburg art district has so many wonderful artisans. You can see exactly how things are made, and some of the stores even offer hands-on classes.

Oh. My. Gosh. We absolutely loved our basket-weaving class. I feel horrible and can't remember our teacher, but she was so down-to-earth and kind. I made plenty of mistakes along the way and she never made me feel less than, always helping me to fix it and act like it was no big deal. We will 100% be back for another class when we go back down to the Gatlinburg area!
Smandbj — Google review
A wonderful variety of items for sale. We just drove from place to place and were pleasantly surprised at the variety of items for sale. The people were friendly and engaged us in conversation. We were able to watch some of the artists create their magnificent crafts. I appreciated that there was ample parking at each site, as well as restrooms available for use. We came back with several items we were not aware we needed 😀. A great way to step away from the bustle of the towns and just enjoy the talented craftsmanship of the locals.
Cheryl R — Google review
We used to adore doing this loop. Apparently folks stopped creating for probably various reasons like retirement or relocation. It’s so much smaller than it used to be. We still found some treating shops and delicious fudge! Buttermilk pecan fudge is amazing! It’s such a shame that it’s not what it used to be. A lot of places were closed on Mondays.
Vicki P — Google review
There are a ton of small business artesians within this 8 mile loop. The community offers unique shops such as goat milk soaps and lotions, broom makers, wood carving, glass blowing, and even a old school soda fountain. It's away from the business of downtown Gatlinburg and is a hidden gem for sure.
Casey S — Google review
It was so neat and cute! Highly recommend checking this area out, they have something for everyone!

Lots of good vendors. Out of town, bought a painting and they shipped it to my home. Some unique things, some not so much. Make sure you visit the glass blowing guy!

We visited the Great Smoky arts District stretch on Glades road, seeing many of the craft and art studios and they were amazing 👍 Well worth a visit😀 We found a wonderful little ice cream parlour and had the best milkshakes 😋 ever!!! Glades soda fountain. Would definitely visit this area again. Wayne and Shelly 🇬🇧
