Knysna Waterfront is a small but lovely spot for a peaceful walk. I visited on a Sunday, and the atmosphere was calm and relaxing, perfect for enjoying the views and taking a stroll along the water. However, when it comes to shopping, the prices were quite high and clearly targeted at tourists. While the shops and surroundings are beautiful, be prepared for tourist-level prices. Still, it's worth a visit for the scenery and the relaxing vibe.

Beautiful spot to eat and enjoy the view of the marina with its drawer-bridge for the boats to pass through. One of if not the most sheltered marinas in the world. Definitely worth a visit if you like yachts (and touristy shops or a good feed)

Knysna Waterfront is very popular as you will see a lot of international visitors shopping there or are there for lunch. We love the little chocolate shop and the gift boxes are awesome! The seafood restaurants are quite busy and there is a little outside coffee shop with seating outside against the water, that sell muffins that is definitely a must. Clothing shops are very reasonably priced. Book a trip on one of the boats especially the pirate ship as that is quite an experience!

Good spot to roam around and relax. Few eateries but delicious food. Peaceful not that crowded and you can take a walk around.

Lovely set up of local shops and some fiber outlets. Great fooderies especially Mozambik. However there was only one bar and few stores to buy anything else eg drinks or snacks. There are opportunities to arrange cruises to the knysna heads. It's a very picturesque place to visit but could be so much more

The Featherbed Eco walk with lunch did not disappoint. Even the overcast weather couldn’t put a damper on the afternoon. It starts with a 20min boat ride across the beautiful Knysna Estuary with interesting and entertaining commentary provided by our guide - Colin. The buffet lunch at the Featherbed restaurant was delicious with a full selection of meats, veggies, salads and deserts - drinks are not included (no cash accepted). We were shuttled up to the top of the reserve with a 60-70 min walk down to the cave (time depends on how many times you stop to take photos, and there are so many beautiful spots) Colin our Guide was not only extremely knowledgeable on the history and nature on the reserve but was also very patient with our all girls group 😁. The views throughout the walk are breathtaking and the photos don’t do it justice. All the Featherbed staff are amazing and I highly recommend this experience if you are in Knysna. We booked online and prices vary depending on the day and season. We paid R550 per person (midweek) and ticket prices includes everything except drinks and staff tips.

Thank you to Maurice and the team for a wonderful half day out to the Nature Reserve. Lovely welcome, informative boat journey and drive followed by a wonderful walk through the reserve. We then stayed for the buffet lunch with was excellent and plentiful. One tip - take your swim stuff. There is a great little beach by the beach bar you can swim off. It isn’t mentioned in their description it well worth knowing on a sunny day!!

Beautiful 2.2 km hiking trial (easy). They take you by boat to the starting point where you meet up with a truck and the truck takes up the hill, so the hike is all downhill with spectacular views. They provide walking sticks, but the route is very easy so the sticks are not really necessary. You end with a one-hour buffet lunch. My husband enjoyed the warm calamari dish, whereas I preferred the cold calamari salad.

The most beautiful nature reserve I have ever been to!From the mainland you are taken to the reserve by the tour guide on a ferry. The lunch was amazing and the mountain top views are breathtakingly beautiful

This was absolutely amazing . The whole experience from the ferry to the buffet lunch was great. You take a ferry from the Harbour to the west head . Upon arrival you take a 4x4 trip the top of the west head stopping at a few spots for fantastic photo opportunities. Then you walk down ( 2.2km ) alongside the mountain back to the main house where you are served with a 5 star buffet lunch . The walk down is not hard at all . The entire adventure has a scenic view from start to finish and the buffet lunch was easily the best I have ever had with a big variety of food choices. I would recommend this to everyone when they visit Knysna . Definitely worth every penny ... A must do ...

This was an amazing outing and experience. The boat trip across the lake to the nature reserve, the drive up the mountain and the awesome 2.2km scenic walk back to the boat. Quick drink and food and back to the mainland. 3 to 4 hours trip. Totally worth it and we will do it again. Thanks for this awesome experience.

Beautiful golf course. Fairways and greens are well kept and all staff on site are friendly. Can't believe that this was a Municipal golf course.

Excellent value, consistently paced greens, good service in proshop, exceptional halfway house and open pub area. Nice warm up zone. Bunkers inconsistent. Ball sellers on course are trying to make a living but wish they'd avoid the course until after play.

Really enjoyed my game here today. Course is in really good condition. With so many more 'prestigious' courses in and around the Knysna area, this quaint course deserves more attention. A fine test of golf with the wind up and water on many of the holes. Really good clubhouse and facilities. Only downside were the helpful but less than enthusiastic Pro Shop staff but that didn't detract from the overall experience much. Give it a try you'll be pleasantly surprised!

Course in 5 star condition! One of the better clubhouses at affordable prices on the Garden Route.

Verry nice good access to the beach and clean

One of the best beaches near Knysna. It is a long golden sandy beach. It is very clean. It has a good public restrooms. There are plenty of car parking. The view of the beach from the car parking is very beautiful. There plenty of sitting chairs to relax and watch the sea. The road from Knysna to the Brenoton beach is also a secenic road.

nice beach with great views. entrance es close to the beach end, with rocky outcrops for exploring. the swimming area is tiny, as it happens in almost every beach in the region. beach is LONG, it actually connects with Buffels Bay on the other side, good for long walks. Only downside is the access, quite a walk down the cliff from the parking lot.

What a beautiful place!!! All the years I have not taken the time to take the short detour to Brenton beach. I am so glad I did. Stunning beach with the most amazing sandstone formations and a view to die for. I could spot some whales from the viewpoint before you get to the little village which was a super treat for the day.

This is a blue flag beach. Natural and unspoilt. Life guards on duty. Clean and non polluted. Not crowded and relaxing. Water is moderate temperature and sage for swimming. Amazing views and breathtaking stretch of the beach. A definite must stop on the Garden Route.

Awesome beach, nice location for the restaurant. Nice coffee shop. The restaurant seems to be closed for repairs when I have been there in the past, but the coffee shop is an alternative. Dogs were not allowed on the beach, not sure if that's seasonal rules but was disappointed nonetheless.

Gorgeous beach on Brenton-on-Sea, decorated with mosaic benches and artwork on the staircase. There's a restroom also, unlike with other beaches.

Beautiful views friendly staff. Rooms is starting to show wear and need some attention. Fabulous beds and bedding slept like a baby. They don't always remember to replenish water in the room. Tasty breakfast and wide variety only critique is the waiting period for baked eggs or omelette's. However the omelette is worth the wait.

Loved this course. We played over 2 days due to rain and fog. I was so happy we came back and did the 2nd 9 holes as they are so scenic and beautiful.

It's a beautiful place, blissful, quiet and easy to hike around. But the entrance is a bit hidden, inside an apartment block. Walk parallel to the Information Centre on the high street and turn left until you reach the building site, and then turn right.

The access gate was a little difficult to find but hard working, friendly volunteers working to maintain great flora in a small reserve. Paths are easy to follow as your R30 entrance fee includes a map. A couple of interesting birds and birdcalls in an hour's walk.

Such an amazing attraction in the heart of knysna, conveniently located accross from the Knysna mall. Tickets available for R20 cash at the Spar or the Foundation clothing store. The fauna, flora and fungi are a treat to see. So grateful to have green spaces in Knysna. Hope it can stay this way. Nature is worth supporting.

Such a tranquil treasure to visit...excited to see on-going improvements and plant identification in the works. Also enjoyed seeing a school from Fort Beaufort in the Eastern Cape experience the view from the top.

This truly is a hidden gem in the middle of Knysna. The reserve is absolutely gorgeous and the hike is short, yet relaxing and beautiful. Reserve does need more signage to find it easily as we drove past it the first time.

Nice short hike with a beautiful view of the Knysna Estuary. It's not really stroller friendly, especially when getting closer to the top. If you're going with a baby, rather make use of a kangaroo pouch or just carry them in your arms.

Lovely walk tucked away in the centre of Knysna. Just a few steps in and all the sounds of the busy town melt away to the sounds of nature and birds. Beautiful view from the view pont at the top. Entrance is only R20 person and your permit number is needed to open the gate.

First excursion of the season and we saw a Humpback whale (amongst several other maritime creatures)!! Guides were fantastic! Even though our time was up, they didn’t give up, they knew exactly what they were doing and are very knowledgeable about the oceans movements. We learned a lot! And the person driving the boat gave us a little adventure crossing high waves! Definitely worth it! We were on holiday in Wilderness and decided to go out on the boat. From the front of office staff to the pre-boarding briefing to the Skipper and his team we could not have asked for more! Advantages: Overall not a bad experience, and you might even get lucky and spot some whales 🐋 from a distance. The staff were friendly and welcoming. Approaching the excursion end, the boat captain, showed us nice views on some Knysna cliffs Disadvantages: Far too expensive for what you get. Very poor value for money. Compared to average rate on South Africa. No welcome drinks or snacks provided. The boat is quite small and not suitable for large groups. No lavatory or sunshade on board. With such a price, I expected a much better experience.

Really enjoyed our whale watching boat tour with Ocean Odyssey and our skipper Johannes! The boats are clean and well maintained and our skipper was skillful and made sure our safety was number one! He was knowledgeable and was able to find a few whales (including a mother and calf), seals and other great sea life!

We had a wonderful trip. It was off season so there weren't any whales but we learnt a lot about the area and managed to see a pod of dolphins and a hammerhead shark right at the end, which was a real treat (I only took video of them so don't have photos to share but I've included some of the massive bird colonies and the caves)

Flat water and no real current, you can walk our quite far before it gets to deep, really nice beach to take a walk and swim at and catch the amazing sunset over Knysna

A friend who lives here recommended this beach for a swim and tan. It has a narrow, but fairly long beach. Even though it was a bit windy we still enjoyed it. You can swim easily there. Shallow water. Great for a family with little children.

One of our favourite places to go. We always sit under the trees (if not occupied) and enjoy having lunch (packed ourselves) there with a view of the Knysna Estuary and Heads. The water can be quite enjoyable, especially with low tide for the little ones.

Lovely stretch of beach with a beautiful view of The Heads. There is gated access, but we didn't wait as we went late in the afternoon. Found parking easily too.

Lovely beach especially for families with little kids. Would be nice to have a shower or tap to rinse off the beach sand and or toilets.

Another beautiful spot in the garden route! Great views of the sea and the heads, nice barbecue spots so you can make a real afternoon of the place. It is very rocky here and the tide is very strong do not swim here at all! It's for the scenery only! It's nice to climb over the rocks but you do have to be careful, definitely not to bring young kids. Definitely worth a stop while in Knysna would make beautiful wedding day pictures.

Very pretty to view and have a picnic at. There's a small beach just behind the heads, but it can become quite windy and it's not suitable for swimming due to the rocks. The paths do however lead to scenic viewpoints that so worthwhile.

Great little cove with rough seas and rock pools. Not easy or advisable for swimming but great for beach games and rock pool exploring.

A hidden gem!!! Take some time to wonder around a look at the rock faces and the ocean from all angles.. There are some wooden pathways taking you right onto the beach...not really great for swimming, but nice to just wet your feet and feel the sand under your toes!! Lots of people miss this spot..

Fishing breakaway with some mates. Awsome, awsome time were had by everyone. Took a bit of time to figure out the fishing, them it was on. Boats are well equiped and comfortable.

What a wonderful experience!! Nowhere else would you get scenery. The rest on the boat was ideal. I think from a woman view point just give some more attention to the kitchen area. Also more practical training will be better for a novice. But overall wonderful.

We had the opportunity to enjoy a night on one of their houseboats. I can state with utmost certainty that it was one of my best experiences ever. Having the opportunity to have a moonlit braai, enjoying some nice music on the top deck just sitting below the beautiful skies. You have freedom to move and to just enjoy the blissful experience. We had an amazing experience on the boat BUT the boats need some upgrading, the main bed is impossible for two people to sleep in and so one of the two people has to find somewhere else to sleep to avoid falling off the bed which is not ideal if you are there on a romantic getaway. The toilet is a porter potti which you need to do both number 1 and 2 in - it’s quite a shock. The videos showed a normal flushing toilet so the porta potti was quite a surprise. There isn’t a whole lot of information on best spots to visit so we had to figure that out for ourselves. We got a bit bored and wondered around until we eventually found the confidence to explore more and realized how many options we actually had but by then it was too late to enjoy. There is no outside cushions so the deck is really hard and you can’t just chill on the roof and enjoy the scenery. The people and service were really friendly though and super helpful. I would definitely do it again but only based on a few more comfortable amendments being made. Overall though, loved the freedom the boat provides and you will literally never see some of those views from any other accommodation so it’s totally worth it!

Going on one of these houseboats is quite an adventure. A definite tick off our bucket list. Andre was quite helpful in advising the rules, Steve was an absolute gem with helping us docking the boat and off-loading our luggage. Brenton was very patient in explaining the ins and outs of the boat. All around an amazing experience!

The boat was nice, generally in good condition. There was a leak or two that got our stuff wet and the stove and oven had certainly seen better days. The shower was surprisingly comfortable, and the linen top notch Egyptian Cotton. The boat comes with a generous number of pots, pans and plastic ware. Even for a family with three boisterous toddlers it was a nice week stay. We'd certainly recommend it, even for families.

Awsome history dating back many years ago

The manager of the museum is very nice and is really trying to keep things going with little resources. This museum however has only the history of the white colonial settlers in the region and does not have any information about the indigenous Outeniqua people whose lives were disrupted and whose culture was destroyed by the colonial settlers. It would have been very informative to learn about their lives and stories.

Very interesting. Enjoyed the visit. Just a shame the municipality doesn’t fund it properly to keep everything nice. But thats what you get with a ANC municipality.

What a lovely little museum - well worth dedicating a couple of hours to looking at all the exhibits spread over the 4 houses. So much to learn about Kynsna's history.

The one staff member that was there, was really insightful and friendly. A lot of interesting history of Knysna to be seen.

Went there with my grandmother back in 2017. One of the two little houses at the back of the museum is my grandmother’s childhood home. The house was given to her father by the owner of the railway company he used to work at. My grandmother really enjoyed seeing her childhood again. Will definitely visit again and bring her with as well.

Museum in desperate need of some TLC. Dirty floors, paint peeling from the ceilings, some displays have water damage and a general lack of care. Labels on artefacts are faded and difficult to read. Displays haven't been touched in 20 years.

We LOVED our lunch at East Head Cafe! Staff were so nice, food delicious and views beautiful. We both had a red espresso and the butternut and quinoa salad, incredible. Very wholesome atmosphere.

Came here for lunch based on a recommendation from a local and it did not disappoint. Definitely recommended to sit outside on the terrace with the views of the knysna heads. The food, service and overall atmosphere is nice and price is very good value for what you get. Seafood dishes were good and the desert was very tasty. Highly recommended if you’re in knysna to come here for lunch or dinner.

The best place In Knynsa for breakfast. It's tough competition but this comes out on top. Great service always, happy staff, great coffee, amazing food, unbelievable views. Great for families.

It is a very nice restaurant with indoor and outdoor seating. The coffee was nice, albeit a little strong for my taste. Their tramezzinis are yummy! The bread is soft, yet crunchy. I do recommend that the spinach is cut smaller and sautéed with onion before placing on the bread, as the big pieces tend to be hard to break and then pull out as you bite leaving one with a lekker piece of spinach on your chin. 🤪 Great chips! The staff were very friendly and quick to provide service. The views are amazing. Bathrooms are squeaky clean.

Great vibe and friendly staff. The craft beer is very good an goes well with one of their platters. We had the brewery tour as well which was very interesting. There was live entertainment in the form of a one man band there that day. Took some beers home and would definitely like to visit again one day.

The staff were exceptionally friendly. The beer tasting was a great value for money and the beer selection was impressive too. There is a lovely ocean view from the tables at the tasting area. The brewery is clean and tidy and also fun to walk through.

Went there for the beer tasting - they give you 75ml of each and you get a draught of your choice. Really cheap for the beer tasting and the beers are nice. Shared a chicken basket as well -was yummy. Something nice to do for lunch. Service was good too.

We had such an amazing time here and got to sample a range of their unique craft gins. Loved their honey gin as well as blueberry gin! The Lemoncello was delicious as well! The atmosphere was really laid back and chilled. The owner was very friendly and down to earth. Would highly recommend when in Knysna, and the pizza next door at Maillard's makes the perfect duo!

Well worth the visit, the bar is absolutely gorgeous with the most amazing vibe! The gin tasting was so nice, giving us a taste of their 4 creations. Do yourself a favour and try some of their unique cocktail creations, you will not be disappointed! The owner was so sweet answering all our questions we had, just adding to the experience! The food was just as good, the best burgers we have ever had! Don't just try gin, give their other products like their Lemonchello a go as well! With it being our first honeymoon stop, the owner and bar tender made us feel so at home and so special!

One of my favourite spots in knysna. Staff are always friendly and happy to help with whatever you need. Food is delish and the gin is fantastic, beautiful flavour and goes down so smoothly, honestly would rather stop here than anywhere else. If I could rate 10 stars I would. Wonderful spot! I manage a local lodge and regularly send guests to enjoy the gin tastings. Every single guest has loved it. I have even made special trips to buy gin for guests to take back overseas with them. We stock the gin at the guest lodge and it always receives rave reviews. Great place, friendly staff and yummy food - always!

Really enjoyed this little outing. It’s not just about the Old Gaol, but also has a maritime section, angling section and a lot about the history of Knysna which I found fascinating. No guided tours (I prefer to take my time anyway so suited me fine) & lots of info on the walls as well as QR codes for further reading. AND… it was FREE!

We were in and out pretty fast because we came just before closing time, but we saw a few interesting things. You learn a lot about how Knysna was founded and about the lake and the ships that first entered the lake. Knysna has a rich history and it's always fun learning more about it. Would like to visit again some day.

We went there because it’s mentioned in several traveller books and friends did point it out as a good place. After a walkthrough I can say it’s not ours. The operation is nice and the staff grants a free entry. But the exhibits and the overall style did not match our taste of art at all. That’s a very personal thing, so if you are interested in art and coming through Knysna, give it a try. No fotos taken here ;-)

Go here every time I'm in Knysna and it's worth it every time. The staff is wonderful too and make you feel welcome even with lots of kids around, which is rare in an investment art kind of place.

The gravel road to Noetzie beach is terrible, and runs through a location. It is quite the walk down to the beach and back up but my 4year old did it with ease on her own. If u are elderly or struggle with walking incline/decline elevations and climbing 100 steep steps then I would not advise taking this on. Its probably a walk no longer than 20-30mins to this beautiful hidden gem and I would advise packing a snack basket and some water to sit and enjoy on this beautiful masterpiece by mother nature. Alternatively pack a bathing suit and enjoy an icy plunge. Non the less, the castle styled houses are a good attraction for many but the true beauty here is the beautiful beach and landscape.

Beautiful beach and stunning castles. The walk can be a bit tough but it’s a beautiful spot. Also keep in mind that the gravel road to get there is quite long and can be bumpy occasionally but isn’t bad

A beautiful gem on the Garden Route! The beach is secluded and not easily accessible but definitely worth a drive! Be prepared to walk down steep stairs or a ramp to reach the bottom. There are toilet facilities but no shower or change rooms. Lifeguards were on duty the day we visited. Take a walk along the path to the amazing rocks for some spectacular pictures!

Down side...entry road to Noetzie is off N2 past Knysna into a very dirty looking township, but 200m later it is al over, then onto well kept dirt road. Dont leave vehicle open or food outside, there are babooms in the area. Enjoy scenic road down to beach and rest well for walk back

Knoetzie beach is a very upmarket area that has several castles and a few homes that offer almost an exclusive beach for themselves. One of these castles is owned by Pezula Nature Spa and Hotel for the rich and famous celebrities. There are 2 ways of getting to this beach. 1) if you are staying at the Pezula Hotel there is a back route to the beach cutting out the township area. 2) for the everyday visitors, you must enter a township at the top of the hill and the first 2km is unpleasant and the roads are not good. I have been told it is safe and never heard of any incidents in that area. Once you drive through the 2km township area on the other side there is about 6km of the good sand road which takes you down to the parking area on the hill of the beach. From there, there is initially about a 1km driveway to walk down and then about 100 steps down to the beach. The return is the reverse. Once you get onto the beach the castles are beautiful and the beach is quiet and serene. There is also a river that has wound through the forest and comes out to the sea on the beach. This makes a good place for children to play. There are no facilities on the beach whether public toilets, showers, picnic spots, etc. Not recommended for Wheelchair or Elderly that are frail or not stable. The views of the castles are breath taking, for me, it’s worth a quick look and a walk on the beach. But without facilities, I would not spend a day down there. Finally, there are no Lifeguards if you decide to for a swim. Furthermore, there are no mobile signals on the beach. You would have to walk up to the parking area to phone anyone.

A beautiful and secluded beach, far away from the noise and pollution of the city. There are stunning views and cool waters. Quite a drive in on a gravel road and via the informal settlement.

Nice small gold sandy beach. It is very clean and sculded. Beautiful lovely beach. The castle is used as hotel. Many car parking. Note that it needs 140 steps to reach it.

What an amazing, relaxing and peaceful boat ride on the beautiful knysna lagoon, knysna heads and waterfront. Waldo was a great skipper, very learned and answered our questions about the area.

We had such a fantastic sunset cruise!! Waldo was superb and showed us all the sights, together with letting us play our own music. We went out in Gallivanter - a very nifty speedboat! So much fun - the kids are still buzzing!! Thank you!! We also saw a seal lounging in the setting sun.

We have had a fantastic lagoon tour with Waldo. He was very friendly and so pleasant to talk to. Highly recommend!

We had an amazing experience with All 4 One Lagoon Charters in Knysna. Waldo was an incredible host who made sure everyone had a great time. Tapas and Oysters in Knysna - A Must-Visit! We had the pleasure of visiting Tapas and Oysters twice during our stay in Knysna, and both experiences were exceptional! The evening visit was particularly impressive, with outstanding service and a warm welcome, despite not having a booking (Pro tip: Book ahead to avoid disappointment!). Our daytime visit was more relaxed, with plenty of seating available. We were thrilled to discover the fantastic play area for kids, which kept our little ones entertained while we enjoyed our meal. The food and drinks were outstanding! I indulged in a delicious cocktail, and the pizza, sushi, and nachos were all top-notch. The quality and flavor were consistently impressive. Definitely worth a visit (or two!) when in Knysna!

The butter prawns are amazing and the Cajun chicken and cream cheese nachos are FAB! Best nachos we’ve ever tasted The bar one milkshake wasn’t quite what we expected. It tasted more like chocolate milkshake with a small amount of bar one than anything but was still good

I think this place merits a slightly higher rating than 4.2. We had a good experience, food came out fast and was delicious. The wings were fantastic. More expensive than other places for sure, but that’s what you get in a tourist location like Knysna’s waterfront.

Tapas and Oysters is absolutely incredible! We had the Jack Smash, recommended by our amazing waitress Aphiwe — and it was perfect. We truly recommend this little piece of paradise, especially if you can sit out on the terrace. Sushi 50% on wednesdays :)

Been here many times and usually a great experience with excellent food & good service… Not tonight!! (on the service side) Took over 20 minutes to get served for my drink. The beer came quickly. Took another 20 minutes to get served for my food order. The food came quickly. Took another 20 minutes to order my 2nd drink. It never arrived and others did that ordered after me… I left my table, went to the counter and said I want to pay now with you now as I’m going elsewhere as the service is disgraceful!! Yes, it was Friday night & yes, it was busy but I have been on many busy Wednesday & Friday nights and it has never been this bad.

Tapas & Oysters This vibrant waterside restaurant on Thesen Island with views over the Knysna Lagoon and the backdrop of Knysna Heads was the start of our adventure. We started our Knysna Oysters festival experience at the friendly, fun with vibey atmosphere restaurant. Enjoyed the festival Oysters special (Bloody Mary oyster shot with Cruz Vodka & Margarita oyster shot with Jose Cuervo) and the seafood pizza. Tasty! Would recommend 👌

Oysters with sparkling wine were quite good. Grilled sardines and paella (it has pepperoni and crab sticks) were not good at all... I didn't like them. I will not go there second time definitely.

This was our second time visiting. The previous was pre pandemic. This time it was very busy. There was a twenty minute wait for a table but it was pleasant sitting on the benches waiting. When our table became available we were seated and given our menus. We could only order breakfast as it was before 11h30. Or coffees and teas came first and there was about another 20 minute wait before the food arrived. We did not mind because we were sitting comfortably under a tree chatting. When our food arrived it was picture perfect. The ingredients were fresh and the flavour was rich. We had such a pleasant breakfast experience, we can see why this place is so in demand. Well worth the visit.

The food was absolutely delicious, the staff were super friendly, and the whole place felt very cozy. But one incident completely ruined my experience. While I was talking to a very kind waitress about sourdough, a bald male staff member (wearing an earring, not very tall – maybe a supervisor) pulled her away mid-conversation in a very rude way, as if saying “leave her.” It was disrespectful and made me feel very uncomfortable. As a woman wearing a hijab, I honestly felt it was personal. I don’t believe he would act this way with someone else. The waitress even told him off in front of me — she clearly knew he crossed a line. I won’t be coming back because of this behavior. I hope management addresses it seriously.

Breakfast yesterday. Beautiful day and a must to sit outside. Enjoyed the standard breakfast.. orange juice, muesli, scrambled and poached eggs, beacon and coffee. Delicious!

Popped in while we were on holiday in Wilderness and we had just come back from whale watching. Service and food was excellent and this venue is to be recommended. Very well worth a visit if you are in the area. Unlike most of Knysna parking was fine and the menu is extensive.

My wife and I had dinner at Chatters, we ordered a vegetarian pizza with drinks. The pizza was amazing and the service was on point, would definitely recommend it!!

We had two amazing meals at Chatters during our stay in Knysna. Rob and the team were all incredibly friendly, and the pizzas were absolutely delicious! Would thoroughly recommend the Alexander pizza or custom pizzas where there is a huge choice of toppings. Brilliant wine list, suited to all budgets and tastes. Would highly recommend anyone in the area visiting. Thank you!

There was 6 of us and they were packed but made a table up for us, the incredible service didn't stop there... amazing and super friendly team. What an atmosphere was really special. Food did take really long to arrive would say close to 45min but thankfully the view and atmosphere made up for the waiting time. Would highly recommend the chicken burger.

What a disappointing visit. We booked a table for Father's day (which I am glad we did, because when we arrived most of the tables were reserved). The menus on the website are unfortunately out of date (see images in post for up to date meal options). The food was tasty, but the service was really a let down. We were seated at our reserved table (our waiter seated us). Halfway through our meal, another waiter brought another 3 x guests to our table, to tell us we were sitting at the wrong table (the table right next to us was still vacant, and turns out was our allocated table. I am not sure what the waiter was hoping for, if the two groups to wrestle for the rights to the table, but we managed to amicable agree that the newcomers will, in fact, take the vacant table. When ordering our food, we realised that the printed menu on hand did not match the menu on the website (there are a few different places where a few different menus are listed). The most recent one (we could find) included some vegetarian toasted sandwiches (cheese, tomato, pesto) and a walnut and lentil bolognese. Neither of these were available on the menu anymore. We could find 3 x starter options, but - Hopefully any human being of moderate eating habits would understand, a start portion is not a meal. We were somewhat disappointed when the kitchen told us no - they can't make us the toasted sandwich from their old menu, but suggested we have some mash potato and a side salad instead. We decided to cobble some of the starter plates together (which, though tasty) only served as a bit more of a disappointment as we were served with a plate of tomato, cheese, and bread topped with pesto (which felt suspiciously like the thing they told us they could not make). Nevertheless, the restaurant makes the rules. Once our meal was done, we had to keep hunting for our waiter, who seemed to have forgotten about us (the restaurant was at most 1/3 full, counting inside and outside). My father in law was never offered a second drink. We staked our plates on a corner of the table in (hopefully) a clear sign of being done - But had to go searching for the waiter again to request our bill. 15 minutes later, we were still waiting to pay, and had to go looking for the waiter again in order to pay - so that we could leave. It's a beautiful setting, and the food all round was good. Even without the veggie meal options (let's face it, a lot of restaurants don't bother), the poor service was really what disappointed us. On 1) Father's day, 2) without a full restaurant, and 3) being one of the first tables they had - It should have been something that would have brought us back for more. It's a historic little place, right up our alley. None of us left feeling any reason to come back and try again.

The smallest Pub in Knysna. It's really a spot people miss if they don't stay over for a few days. Go for breakfast , lunch or dinner. Prices are good and it's great history to read up about and enjoy.

Atmosphere, heart, a view of the lagoon, amazing food and super friendly service.. I could not think of a better place for a leisurely lunch than here - where food and service are a top priority and history of this place lingers in the little detail. You’re probably going to eat too much - the food is this good - so take a stroll through the perfectly manicured grounds and around the neighborhood and arrive back for your last drink..

Such a quaint little place in the heart of Belvidere. The staff are amazing, and they let us take a look at the original cellar. I've not tried the food yet, but from the orders I've seen others have, it looks fantastic.

Service on Tap with great Chicken livers at hand. Tucked away in wooded area with shade where required. Great views of the estate and surrounding water way. Can’t wait to try other menu items on a return trip to Africa!

Amazing coffee shop. It has atmosphere, service and food, and rarely do you get all three. Prices are reasonable with great specials. Coffee is outstanding and you can also buy it as a takeout. Definitely worth a visit. I'll be back.

A rustic coffee shop set in a historic home or building, the cappuccino was outstanding, the service was great, and the breakfast bun was tasty. It's definitely a nice stop if visiting Knysna.

Early morning breakfast plus cappuccino. Alround excellent, friendly. Beautiful setting amongst the bric brac of the shop. Soft music. Peaceful, tranquil.

The cuppacino comes with all types of different pictures on top. Done free hand by Max, the Barrister. Very friendly staff. The special we had was, 2 breakfasts consisting of 2 eggs, bacon, mushroom or tomato, toast & coffee for R150.00. Excellent value. There are so many other options to choose from, which will tingle your taste buds.

Being here was like being at home... People are welcoming, atmosphere was cozy, and the carrot cake was heavenly... Highly recommended...

It is one of the best view point in Knysna city and area. It is a good tourist attraction. This view point has a gorgous view for Knysna central, waterfront, Thesen island, Leisure island, and Knysna lagoon. It is best to come to this viewpoint on the afternoon of a sunny day especially if the sky is clear and no fogs. It has many chair to sit and enjoy the nice view. Don't forget your camera.

Lovely view of Knysna, Belvedere, and the quays. Free parking is plentiful and it’s a nice place to visit for a quick view. The drive up is nice too. It wasn’t so busy when we got there, around 10:30am on a Tuesday. The benches were skewed and uncomfortable so maybe bring your own!

Great location and the bikes are well set out. I could have spent much longer there admiring some of the greatest motorcycles of all time. The owner will chat all day and with such great knowledge you won't grow tired.

One of the most impressive collections of motorbikes I've seen. Ever bike tells a story of a different time or a famous individuals story. The gents that work there are super friendly and have stories to share about the heritage of every bike. A man cave experience ever guy can enjoy

Really cool. I've never seen so many bikes in one location. A serious trip down memory lane as they had the bikes we rode 40+ years ago...to school and to impress girls. Lot's of history. Make sure you give yourself a lot of time to enjoy

Excellent coffee. Truly brilliant and passionate barista’s found here. Food is really (salmon bagel and chicken mayo bagel) good but the cappuccino and flat white is the real attraction. They do have almond milk and oat milk for those looking for the milk alternatives.

This was absolute tastebud heaven! Hubby tried the Salted Caramel Latte and I had the Marshmallow Latte. Both tasted amazing! Baby bum had a (huuuuuge) Chocolate Babyccino and loved it! Then for lunch, we each had a French Toast Bagel with Camembert & Bacon, and a slice of Carrot Cake to share. The inside is beautifully decorated in a chic industrial style with plenty of seating and they also have a nice rewards system in place where you can get a free drink of your choice, after collecting 6 digital Trinity Stamps.

Personal service, great barista brewed gourmet coffees, and best of all, home roasted selection of international beans. The location is perfect, lots of easy parking right at the premises and the ambiance is inviting and friendly. We particularly enjoyed the fresh cake!

Top in so many things : 1. kindest staff and management, 2. best coffee (sorry, Jared, but you paused the machine!), 3. absolutely the fastest fibre line, and 4. the biggest, most delicious (and most affordable!) vegetarian breakfast bagel on the Garden Route.

My favourite beach on the Garden Route. There is the rough sea on the western side and the quiet sea on the bay side. You can walk along the beach right around the bay all the way to Brenton-on-sea. Lovely family beach and surf spot. There is a shop and restaurant on the beachfront. Parking can be a problem during the holidays. There us also a beachfront eatery just before you enter Buffalo Bay wherr you sit with your feet in the sand.

Fantastic beach to spend the day. Pet friendly. Parking close to the beach is quite limited so you need to be early for that. There is a big parking lot in walking distance if the one next to the beach is full. There is a small shop with necessities but be warned it is very expensive. Public bathrooms are not too bad and next to the beach. There is a restaurant as well but I didn't visit it.

Another amazing gem of a place - Peaceful beach with soft sand and a bit strong waves. Lots of Parking place and a friendly neighbourhood right next to the beach.

Great waves and beach for kids. My son loves going there with his boogie board. The way there also has beautiful painted artworks next to the road and when entering through the bridge. Parking can get a bit difficult in silly season, but there's two parking lots to choose from. They also have restrooms and an outdoor 'shower' to wash the sand off.

Beautiful clean beach. Lots of surfboards and walls painted which make for awesome pictures. Lovely tourist spot. Restaurant and kiosk right by the beach. Bring your long board to skate on the roads and your surfboard to catch some good waves. You'll enjoy it! There isn't always soap and toilet paper in the bathrooms so bring your own.

A beautiful beach! This is a family beach, ideal for children. The ocean is perfect for swimming. The drive there is a bit tricky for smaller cars. This is a very popular and busy beach, so parking is limited. There aren't any dressing rooms or bathrooms on the beach so we made use of the restaurant on the beach.

Most amazing get away with family. The occommodation was to die for. 6 bedrooms, each with mes and beautiful, balcony, fully equipped kitchen and laundromat. Beautiful dining area, bar area, built in braai with stackable windows to open built in braai up. And stoeps on 3 levels. Sitting on the stoep looking at the dolphins, thats the life

Very nice experience at Featherbed Nature Reserve! Beautiful ferry ride, scenic 4×4 trip, easy walk with stunning views and caves, plus a tasty buffet lunch with fresh ingredients. Friendly staff and a real Knysna highlight – a clear recommendation!

I commend the team from featherbed Co from our tour guide, the captain along with the rest of the crew on the boat , and the waitresses at the rescue for their excellent service. Everything was top notch. The food is five star top of the range, and the views are breathtaking. The tour guide was so professional and kept cheering us up after reaching each milestone. I would definitely do this again when I am around the garden route. Knysna is beautiful 😍

Beautiful buffet lunch and walks on the Knysna heads. Brilliant views of the ocean and waves crashing on the rocks.

We sailed on the Pride of Knysna. Our guide (lovely lady) who was very knowledgeable and a good captain and her able funny seaman. On arrival at the reserve we transferred to a open truck that drove us slowly up the steep track to the top of the West Head. The views were to die for of the oceans and lagoon. Our guide led us on the 2.2km walk back down through the forest to the beach with great viewpoints of the lagoon ,Nostrils and beaches. The boat was waiting for us to take us back. Thoroughly enjoyed the while trip and would recommend it as it was very reasonable in cost.

Nice market with great food and drink options. There's a small kiddies play area, but it can get VERY busy. They do have some other vendors as well for shopping or buying kiddies toys at to keep the kids busy and an ATM if you forgot to bring cash, but most vendors have card machines also.

Lively and lovely atmosphere on a Friday evening. Good selection of food stalls, cheerful people all around, nice live music. We enjoyed it a lot.

Good food and some local guy doing the music. I love it, a sense of being a part of the community.. something to do on a Friday night apart from going to a resuraunt. They have redbridge beer on tap and that is a major bonus. There is a variety of different types of food to choose from. Not really a market, more of a local gathering..

What an amazing nature reserve! A great paved walk to take your dogs because they are super pet friendly. They provide bags and lots of bins for your four-legged friend’s poop. Worth the trip to see the views, lots of bird species, salt marshlands and indigenous flowers. Lots of seating options in the shade or sun to take in the views. People have the option to go fishing. Dogs can go swimming. Very clean and safe area for a walk to take in all the nature. Not the best for the maps because they don’t tell you where you are, there is a section that is beyond the docks and it is not clearly marked that the path continues.

A very pretty island but although they're are a load of shops they're not fantastic they're ok. Food shops especially Ile de pain are however excellent. Pretty drive across from Knysna

Thesen Harbour Town offering a variety of restaurant and food experiences. Fresh cultivated and wild oysters and wine of the area. Interesting shops and all based in this beautiful harbour town setting. A definite place to visit when in the Southern Cape near Knysna and Sedgefield.

The shops are nice but they are really expensive so we just drank coffee and left

You will not believe you are in South Africa. This is a great place with top notch restaurants and shops.

Small variety of eateries overlooking the lagoon offer tasty morsels or full-portion meals. Big screens attracts the sports fans from the village and Knysna. Nice place to walk or cycle too or just unwind with a glass of wine or your favourite cocktail...

Always well maintained with a movie like character....feels so special being there.

Great Sundsy service! Loved the worship and message by Ps Dee. My wife and I felt at home and truly enjoyed our conversation with Mike who is currently an Intern. The family feeling, the presence of the Holy Spirit, and the church is beautiful, snd thr snacks looked lovely. Pray for continued favour for the pastors, leadership team and growth of the members.

Went to a service with my mom over the festive season, was the first time at a service in probably 15 years (for fear of being judged because I'm gay). Everyone was welcoming, loving, kind, accepting and simply amazing. Totally reaffirmed my existence as one of God's children. Best church ever!

A big disappointment. Very limited high priced menu. Ran out of burgers. Had to change order. Ran out of beer on tap. Make money on cruise rest not important. Do not waste your money. NOT WORTH IT. I recommend other boat services avoid at all cost.

The boat was really crowded, and there weren’t enough seats for everyone. The outdoor area is tiny. The food is mostly fried, and the drink options are quite limited. On the plus side, the staff was very friendly. I wouldn’t book this again.

The view from the boat is amazing. Staff are not professional. Some people were just taking the whole seat and didn't respect our request to give us space to sit although there was space to fit in additional persons. When we told the staff she didn't respond and was not cooperating. we ourselves have to go up and down the boat decks to find a seat after paying? Not worth

What a pleasure to view the sunset! Service on board was good and tables were clean. Bring along something warm if you dislike wind and waves.

Its completely false advertisement on the website stating R150-R200 per person. In reality it is about R520 per person.

This was a fun activity to start your day in Knysna. I had a blast riding down the hills in the forest, highly recommend!

This is a lovely low intensity activity. At first when I saw the hills, my fear of heights kicked in, but the scooters are fairly easy to use and very safe if you are careful. The views are amazing and the experience of entering the forest in the open air is indescribable. We were on tour with Justin and he is excellent in creating a group culture with strangers - we left feeling like we were on the tour with old friends. He is also knowledgeable about the ecosystem and environment and shares a lot of insight while on the tour. The guides also do all the hard labour so you literally just hop on and off the scooter and enjoy the ride. Definitely recommend this activity for all ages.

What an incredible experience! We loved this activity so much we would have done it again if we had time. The team was so friendly, patient and helpful. I highly recommend you do this. Safe for the whole family. Loved it!!!!!

An great experience for kids and adults. Non-motorised scooter tour through the forest. We all Throughly enjoyed it and would recommend it for those seeking a fun, and family friendly experience. Older kids can go on their own scooter. Younger ones can go with an adult. Being Non-motorised makes you experience more of the forest. Guides are great and very knowledgeable.

Slight confusion over meeting point as Adrenaline Hunter told to meet at Whet restaurant. Instead go to stand to the left of the Sirocco restaurant. Ajay, our driver, and Ben, the guide, couldn't be faulted. We had great fun zipping down the hills and the views were spectacular. Ensure you follow their guidance and stay, where possible, to the left. Vehicles, off road bikes and push bikes share the road...

Amazing fun - downhill racing on sand and tar roads. Guys were organized and let you really get speed up.

We had a wonderful evening at Kilzers Kitchen. The food the wine and especially the hosts were extraordinary. We highly recommend this place since we had one of the best dinner of our three weeks stay in South Africa here. The atmosphere is special and extremely friendly.

Had the most memorable evening here with such great laughs and incredible food. Three setting is beautiful and the hosts are total professionals. Not really an open restaurant but if you get the chance to go grab it!

Small and fantastic aquarium where you can see seahorses. Well worth a visit. We spend 30 minutes there looking at the different seahorses. This is inside the SANParks office where you can buy fishing licenses. Well worth it if you are close by. Great to bring kids and teach them about seahorses. Highly recommended.

A gem of a place! I loved that I could enjoy something as special as seahorses and didn’t have to pay an arm and a leg for it. It’s actually free to go in and see them. Keep in mind that it’s only a small office with one tank of seahorses and not a full size aquarium.

It was the first time I have seen live seahorses and it was amazing. The detailed description of the tiny creatures filled me with awe for my Creator. I can highly recommend a visit to the aquarium.

Nice visit but be aware that it is one aquarium. In that one aquarium it’s lots of seahorses swimming around.

Umm, they do have seahorses. Quite underwhelming. It's only one tank...

We have been staying at Kobus' rooms for many years and have become friends with him. We may just be on the same path with his nephew and wife. Restful, quiet central home from home.

Great stay in Knysna. Walking distance from almost everything. Clean. Very friendly people.
