Performing arts theater
Teatro La Caridad is a well-preserved colonial theater located in Santa Clara, Cuba. Dating back to 1885, it stands as one of the few remaining colonial theaters in the country. The exterior of the theater is captivating, and its interior boasts ornate furnishings and intricately painted ceilings. Regular ballet shows are still hosted in its gorgeous gallery.
What an incredible place! I have been here multiple times and have loved it each time!

Loma Del Capiro, along with the Tren Blindado, was designated as National Monuments in 1990. The Capiro Natural Park serves as a recreational area dedicated to preserving nature and offers a stark contrast to the urban landscape of Santa Clara. Standing at around 180 meters high with approximately 200 steps leading to its summit, this site provides unparalleled panoramic views of the city.
My birthplace, in Santa Clara, and historical place where Cuban Revolution came to an end with the final defeat of Batista’s forces led by Che Guevara.
Roberto B — Google review
It's not really a beautiful monument as you will see but it has an amazing view and an amazing history moment that happened there. You need to search for information before going there because there is not explanation there. You need to go up 5 minute of stairs which is not so easy to everyone. Also, it has a lot of mosquitos!
Carolina C — Google review
It is difficult to climb the hill, but it is true that it offers a unique view of the city, especially beautiful at sunset. Keep in mind that it is a small place, luckily not many people usually go, except on some days such as weekends. Regardless of whether there are several people or not, it is usually very quiet, you can enjoy it without problems.

The Che Guevara Mausoleum in Santa Clara, Cuba is a significant site that houses the remains of the renowned revolutionary. Originally intended as a monument to honor Che Guevara, it now serves as his final resting place and a museum dedicated to his life and achievements. The mausoleum features an imposing statue of Che Guevara and sculptures depicting his life, making it one of the most important museums in Cuba.
I am Brazilian, I spent thirty days in Cuba, I visited Santa Clara and the mausoleum of Commander Che Guevara, for me it was a unique experience, I was in front of his mortal remains, I carry his image tattooed on my body, I cried a lot, he is a great inspiration for all the revolutionaries of the world.
Luiz M — Google review
Very nice place to visit in Santa Clara Cuba. There is a mausoleum and museum of Che.
Hamidreza K — Google review
After a week in Cuba the seemingly universal cult of personality around Che Guevara (much more so than Fidel Castro who we were told is generally less fondly regarded than Guevara ) and the Cuban Revolution was wearing a bit thin. Yes, both men are very important figures in Cuba's history and yes, the revolution they led ultimately overthrew the brutal Bastida dictatorship, but what did they really achieve for normal Cubans? The roads are almost unusable because of huge potholes, people use the horse (mule?) and cart as their main mode of transport, public transport barely exists, poverty and unemployment are rife and even their renowned medical workers may be excellent but they have no machines or medication with which to treat patients and yet Che Guevara in particular is lauded as a national hero despite being Argentinian. His mausoleum area is quite impressive all the same. There is a small museum to the right full of random items - a pistol Che once fired, a pai of binoculars Che once used to spot the enemy n the jungle etc. - but quite interesting, especially the work that went into creating it with everything that could be associated with Che deemed worthy of display. To the left is the mausoleum itself which is made up of several 'drawers' in the wall, containing the ashes of each named revolutionary The enormous statues standing guard over the entire complex are also impressive in size, but once seen, there's not really anything else to see or do at the site which overall isn't wheelchair friendly - no adaptation even leading up to the entrance where a flight of concrete stairs awaits...
Mark J — Google review
Emotional place to visit and is a must if you are in Cuba. You are not allowed to take pictures inside of the mausoleum or museum but you will definitely take some great memories from this place with you. Highly recommend to visit if you have the chance.
Claudia N — Google review
Worth visiting place but no photos allowed inside of the museum. We saw so many students were there for their revolutionary education. The statue of Che was a good work. Huge open space in front of the statue for you to take photos.
Eagleridge H — Google review
Along with seeing the train museum this monument to Ernesto “Che” Guevara is also an historical site. It is situated in Plaza Che Guevara (Che Guevara Square) in Santa Clara. As every Cuban knows Che Guevara was an Argentinean medical student who became a leading figure of the Cuban Revolution to overthrow the right-wing dictator, Fulgencio Batista. The monument complex includes several monuments to Che, including an 82-foot statue of the man himself and his mausoleum.
Ross D — Google review
Worth a visit if you are in Santa Cruz.
Francisco N — Google review
My sole purpose of going to Santa Clara was to visit Che Guevera museum and I am glad I made all the efforts to be there. We stayed a night in Santa Clara, it was a great experience to see the small worn out city along with this well-kept Museum. It’s not a huge museum but it’s absolutely a good history lesson to understand this famous and somewhat controversial personality. The Museum hosts items used by Che and 29 of his fellow revolutionaries. You can feel their struggle for revolution through the items and pictures. It’s free of charge however mobile phones and cameras are not allowed to take inside. You will have to deposit those before you enter. At the time we visited, it wasn’t as crowded as mentioned by some of the reviews I read. There is a small café and a small souvenir shop next to it too. If you are planning your trip to Cuba and crossing by Santa Clara, I would highly recommend a detour and visit this place (of course only if you are interested in Cuban revolution and Che)

The Armored Train Park in Santa Clara, Cuba is a significant historical site that commemorates the Battle of Santa Clara during the Cuban Revolution. It features replicas of train cars and sculptures honoring the iconic derailment of an armored train by Che Guevara's forces. The park offers visitors a profound insight into Cuba's revolutionary past and the resilience of its people.
A very interesting historical site dating back to the revolution. This is what I researched. On December 29, 1958, during the Battle of Santa Clara, an armored train sent by the Batista regime was captured by Ernesto “Che” Guevara and his guerrilla fighters. The train carried 373 armed soldiers, ammunition, and provisions for two months. After fierce combat, the revolutionaries derailed the train, captured its weapons and ammunition, and forced the officers to surrender. The memorial is located on Avenida Liberación in the Bengochea ward, near the Santa Clara station. It is certainly worth leaving time to explore.
Ross D — Google review
The site of the celebrated ambush and victory by the Revolutionary forces (led by Che' Guevara) over Batista's forces. Hugely interesting if you have knowledge of Cuba's history. I felt emotional being there....recommended.
Pete S — Google review
This park is really easy to get to - just walk east down the high street, and keep going on along the more normal looking street, and across the bridge - it is hard to miss, and has a tourist shop opposite. It is also worth making a trip to the statue of Che that is further along the same road (another 5 minute walk)
Jacob L — Google review
This place is like an open museum. You can enter the old wagons and see objects used during the revolution. However, there aren't many things to see here.
Djanilson M — Google review
Historical place. This important revolution action happen there. A convoy of munitions and arms was send to Batista. This secret convoy was known by Che Guevara and compagnero. Just before getting in the town, convoy was attact, but with no effect, was well protected. Using a Bulldozer, the rebel finally derail the train at this place. Next day, Batista flew Cuba.
Lunix L — Google review
Park celebrating Che overcoming overwhelming odds to stop a government armoured train with a bulldozer and a handful of men. Unfortunately the armoured carriages were locked when we visited because of a holiday.
Timbovilla 7 — Google review
Interesting museum. Several train wagons positined after the crash. In every wagon information of the attack and aditional information of Che Guevara. Also some armours used then are to be seen. At the other side of the road is a souvenir shop. The hole place is covered with a little nationalistic sauce. But for a visit of one hour, it's certainly worth it.

Nestled in the heart of the city, Parque Vidal serves as a vibrant hub for both locals and visitors alike. This charming park is surrounded by significant landmarks, including the historic José Martí Library, which once hosted Generalissimo Máximo Gómez in 1899. The area also boasts La Caridad Theater, a national monument since 1982 that has roots dating back to 1885 when it replaced an earlier hermitage built in 1696.
A nice enough place for a stroll. It is the main plaza or town square in Santa Clara, Cuba and is the geographical heart of Santa Clara. Lots of locals and tourists and some nice old buildings in the vicinity.

Complejo Escultórico Comandante Ernesto Che Guevara is a significant pilgrimage site for those interested in the life of Che Guevara. Located 2km west of Parque Vidal, it includes a mausoleum, museum complex, and monuments dedicated to the iconic Cuban revolutionary. The complex features an 82-foot tall statue of Che Guevara and serves as a commemoration of his role in the Cuban Revolution after joining Fidel Castro's movement.

Filiberto U — Google review
(Translated by Google) The Che Guevara Monument commemorates the iconic Cuban revolutionary. Ernesto Rafael Guevara de la Serna (1928-1967) was an Argentine physician who became a leading figure in the Cuban Revolution after joining Fidel Castro's 26th of July Movement. The Che Guevara Memorial is a complex of several Che monuments, including an 82-foot tall statue of the hero himself and his mausoleum. He was executed in Bolivia on October 9, 1967, after his attempt to overthrow dictator René Barrientos Ortuño was thwarted by the CIA and Bolivian forces. At first the location of his body was kept secret, but it was later found and transported to Cuba in 1997, along with the remains of the revolutionaries killed in the Bolivian operation. Santa Clara was chosen as the site of the memorial because it was the site of a great victory for the revolutionaries. The 22 m high bronze statue was erected in 1987 on the occasion of the 20th anniversary of his assassination in Bolivia, and the residents of Santa Clara contributed about 400,000 hours of volunteer work to the construction of the structure. Che's figure points towards South America, reflecting his dream of a united, independent Latin America. The carved relief panels depict important scenes from Che's life. The Museum of the Revolution is relatively small and contains Che's personal items and photographs in chronological order. (Original) A Che Guevara-emlékmű a kubai ikonikus forradalmárnak állít emléket. A faragott domborműves táblák Che életének fontos jeleneteit ábrázolják. A Forradalom Múzeuma viszonylag kicsi, időrendi sorrendben tartalmazza Che személyes tárgyait és fényképeit.

El Mejunje is a popular spot in Santa Clara, known for its diverse and vibrant atmosphere. The venue offers a mix of traditional Cuban music, dancing, theater, poetry readings, and drag shows throughout the week. It's located in a bohemian-style courtyard within the ruins of a former hotel and serves as an important LGBT center in the city. The space also features art pieces from local political Cuban artists and hosts various events.
Preferate place in Santa Clara, every day have different show. There is 2 bars, one on bottom floor with plastic cup, second on second floor and more private. This club is melting pot of students, worker and LGBT, all having fun. Thanks to Piry, you can get free drink at 3. Say your my friend! Second floor is best for special drink, talking and music listening. First floor is dance floor, or show floor if any.( No show on Monday). Shows can be viewed from both floor.
Lunix L — Google review
This is not the left-scene safe space it pretends to be. This is a money-making machine. After entering, they practically pushed me to the bar where they handed me a menu in dollars with high prices. Very agressive and no consent awareness at all. We stayed a moment and left. This is not a social project - it is the embodiment of the dark side of capitalism.
Fernando R — Google review
Place with hippie vibe. Unfortunately our group had a big disappointment as we were overcharged for being tourists. While we were paying about 200 pesos for a can of beer, we were charged at 500 pesos at the first bar on the left after the entrance of the establishment. The responsible boy didn't even want to know about talking even though he knew he was screwing us. I highly recommend the bar at the top of the building.
Talita P — Google review
I got very sick from drinks made by alcohol that came from a plastic bottle and ice grabbed with the hands from the guy on the bar at the left as you come in. Prices are like in Spain but in Cuba, somebody explain that please. Filthy toilets with no running water - so the profit doesn’t go to maintenance that’s for sure.
Alfonso V — Google review
Nice place to have a couple of drinks while listening to live music. Prices are a bit more expensive than in other bars in town though.
Damián G — Google review
Avoid this place. The guys who take care of this place don't know how to run what is meant to be an inclusive venue for arts and music events. As soon as they spot you're a tourist they'll kinda force you to take a drink charging lot more than they'd charge any Cubans. It is inclusive for Cubans, not for foreigners. You'll always be a walking wallet.
Valerio C — Google review
Was a great experience visiting here. I was there for an b event, being it was in Cuba the event started late but was still a great deal of fun.

Excellent place to experience the night life of the city. During the day we could hear some music and see people dancing and having a good time. And the same day during the night the place turned into a club with loud music. It was gay night and everyone was having a good time. The entrance was 5 CUC per person and beer was 2 CUC, but if you go to the bar at the back of the place the beer is cheaper.

(Translated by Google) The Cathedral of Santa Clara is a beautiful and very peaceful place. It became a cathedral church with the creation of the new diocese of Santa Clara, and since then it has been the center of the Catholic faith in the city. Inside, as usual, Catholic masses and rites are celebrated, but there are also numerous cultural events such as concerts and conferences organized by the diocese or the community. One of its most unique treasures is the so-called Virgen de la Charca, an imposing image of the Immaculate Conception that was in a public place in the city and that disappeared for decades during the Castro dictatorship. It was found and rescued from a pond and placed at the entrance to the Cathedral.

Stadium
Estadio Augusto César Sandino is a charming venue that offers an affordable way to immerse yourself in the local sports culture. With tickets costing just a few cents, you can catch exciting games throughout the week during the season. This stadium serves as the home ground for the Villa Clara Panthers and is known for its friendly atmosphere. Just remember to bring local currency, as vendors may not accept foreign money.
Great place to catch a game, but be aware that local currency is king. The vendors will take advantage of you if you try to use CUC, so beware. Otherwise the locals are friendly and it's well worth the price of admission (1CUP for an upper seat with the locals). Bring a cloth to wipe the seat and sit on, and drinks if you're not adventurous ;)

Unfortunately we were not able to spend much time in Santa Clara, but the little time we were there was enough for us to feel the quality of the people who hosted us. In addition to this important aspect, the conditions of the place were unbeatable, everything was very neat and spacious, very close to the center and all those things that we look for when we visit a place like Santa Clara. Thank you very much for everything, sorry for taking so long to write this well-deserved review. (Original) Mi compañera y yo tuvimos la suerte de dar con este lugar y con esta gente.
