Great Experience for old and young. We had a Art Gallery Homeschool class there from Rita Angus how to draw a Portrait and I can just highly recommend it, the Lady was so lovely with all of the Kids. Many thanks for organising things like that for our Community 💚

Beautiful experience in gallery space right in the heart of downtown with interesting exhibitions of four Newzelanders artists: Rita Angus, Hiria Anderson- Mita, Ron Te Kawa and Dream Girls Art Collective that have transformed the Gallery's atrium in a psychedelic world dominated by tree very big murals. Friendly staff and great presentation of artwork.

Customer service: loved the service of the lady at the front desk on this Sunday. She was so patient and explained everything in detail. Totally made our day. 5stars for her customer service. Exhibition: liked the VR exhibition and good layout of all other exhibitions. Totally worth the experience.

Enjoyed our visit to the Gallery but thought the price was a little high.

Really great free attraction with the area! The Terminus Exhibit was on while I was in town. It was a really interesting virtual reality gallery. I think kids would love it as well. I highly recommend!

Loved it! This exhibit was so whimsical. Photos don't even do it justice. Wanted to see it a second time, but there was a new exhibit. Entry by koha.

There is this breathtaking, intricate quilted exhibit right now to celebrate matariki!!! Free entry as well!

Outdoor Activities
Pilot Bay Beach is a prime location in Downtown Tauranga, offering stunning views of the bay and international cruise ships. Situated at the foot of Mount Maunganui, this beach provides easy access to cafes, restaurants, walking tracks on Mauao suitable for all ages, boutique shops, boardwalks along the harbor and surf beach with food vendors, and saltwater hot pools. The sandy beach with clear waters is perfect for swimming and offers various activities to create lasting memories.
Beautiful spot at the base of Mount Maunganui that offers scenic views. There’s a boardwalk to stroll along, a grassy area for the kids to play on, plenty of sandy beach, seating, toilet facilities and drinking fountains. There’s limited parking though so the earlier you arrive the better. We visited on a Saturday morning and there were plenty of vendors there offering paddle boarding, jet skis, cattermeran hire etc. Lots of activities on offer or just enjoy the leisurely walk along the path u der the beautiful Norfolk pines.
SARGES’ F — Google review
Pretty scenic place for a walk, it does have a concrete sidewalk, picnic tables, benches, accessible restrooms and a grill. Not sure if that grill is for public use since it’s on the sidewalk. There are a lot of street parking spots and some dedicated parking spots, but availability is relative to peak times so plan accordingly.

Very popular for sunsets. Get there early if you want a park.

Great lead in to walk round the mount. Great for young families to take the kids to swim in as it has no surf to speak off. Ready access to downtown the mount which is only a block away. Always a great place to watch the cruise ships and other vessels arriving at the port

Island
Moturiki Island, also known as Leisure Island, is a volcanic outcrop connected to the mainland by a human-made land bridge. It offers a short but rewarding adventure with unique vegetation and stunning sea views. The island features a spectacular blowhole that bursts into life during high tide, making it a great spot to enjoy panoramic ocean views. A well-formed walking track leads from the beach to the top of the island in about 15 minutes.
Beautiful views from all points of the island. Good luck to the pest eradication team. Interesting to hear there's a blowhole at the furtherest tip of the island, as I've never spotted it.
Liz C — Google review
Nice walk for the whole family! You get a wonderful view of Mauao from the island. It’s a moderate walk — I went here with my kids and had to watch them closely because they loved climbing up the rocks! I kept reminding them to be careful not to slip, but it was such a fun adventure for them. The area is well-kept with rubbish bins near the entrance. Early morning visits are the best — plenty of parking, not too many people, a nice cool breeze, and a peaceful atmosphere.
B B — Google review
A beautiful little island with well developed walking trails that is easily accessible from Maunganui Beach. It’s a great place to walk around, enjoy the scenery and the panoramic views of the beaches, and take some time to relax. The trails are fairly flat and easy to walk, and it’s a great place to walk with your friends and family. Take the time to stroll around the island when you visit Maunganui Beach! You can get some great photos and you won’t be disappointed!
Mark P — Google review
This particular sea coast is located in Mt. Maunganui, Southern New Zealand, but it could be anywhere else in this big wide world. The wonder and beauty of some features of nature could be distinct depending on where people are located, but they remain forever amazing and free to appreciate by everyone, regardless of status in life. They're miracles of life no human hands can replicate.
Dionesio G — Google review
Moturiki island lies just off Ocean Beach, and you can walk to it on the land bridge off the main beach. This little island is bigger than it looks, about 1000 feet long, and there’s a trail that goes to the tip of the island. It’s a beautiful walk, sometimes tree-covered and shaded, sometimes grassy and bushy, and sometimes along the rocks and water. There are terrific views of the coastline which stretches as far as you can see to the southeast, and to the Mount to the northwest.
Rich W — Google review
Watching sunset towards Mount Maunganui from Moturiki is gorgeous. Easy to get on the island by the walkpath. A few minutes only. Beware of those sharp rocks and wet area. Coming here early morning or golden time to take sunrise or sunset shot is a must!

Located at the base of Mauao, Mount Hot Pools offers a variety of options for visitors to enjoy. The pools feature temperatures ranging from 31c to 39c, catering to both relaxation and active experiences. Families can make use of the passive pool with massage jets, an active pool, and a toddlers' pool with a slide and fountains. Additionally, spa pools are available for further relaxation along with professional massage services.
It was a beautiful day at the mount roughly costed 75 for 2 adults 2 kids 1 infant and a baby nappy they have no food to offer but have drinks and ice creams with cafes and fast food restaurants all around them so just a stroll to get to them this is the 2nd visit here but my first with a infant they were very helpful when I asked if they could fill my baby's bottle with hot water the bathrooms have swimsuit dryer which spins the water out of the clothes and the female toilets have hair dryers all in all it's a great experience to share with your kids with a beautiful view of the mount from where ever you are in the pools all pools are heated some more than others the cost to get in is pricey but it's worth the experience even if it's just once.
Patricia — Google review
I loved visiting the Mount Hot Pools! It was very clean, well laid out and organized. I honestly think all pools (regular swimming pools and hot pools) should be organized like this one. Having the smaller hot tubs for adults was nice, and then the two bigger pools were of different temperature, but still enjoyable. The locker rooms were relatively clean and well maintained. The top of the stalls and ceiling areas desperately need to be dusted, though!!
Julia K — Google review
It's seawater, so the skin is soft and good after swimming. However, it smells a little like disinfectant.
Minjun K — Google review
Salt water hot pools. Great location and open till late. Was there till 10pm gazing at the stars while immersed in hot salt water pool. Good way to relax after walking up and down the mount. Multiple pools to test your level of heat resistance. Kiddie pool with side.
Mohith V — Google review
It was good, but small for the price and should have a few more things in the kids area. The toddler time was good, they had extra water toys. Beautiful bathroom/changing room tiles, which makes no difference to the pool 😂 but I loved them
Kristy H — Google review
This is a world class facility, that Tauranga should be proud of. It’s a sea water hot pool, only one in the world. The facilities are in excellent condition, and the grounds spotless. Changing rooms had lots of benches and plenty of room in them. Lots of outside lockers available. Lots of choices for pool selections. Staff very friendly and attentive. Thanks for a great experience.
Mike R — Google review
Yes!! Go here! We were down from Auckland, and just turned up on a weekday. Parking was a little hard to find but we got one eventually. Only thing I would recommend is booking for a massage etc before you arrive. We didn’t and I missed out but that’s nobody’s fault except my own, the website clearly states we need to book :) kids loved it, as did hubby and I. I’ll be back for my massage next year !

The menu features classic dishes such as banh phong tom, go cuon, and banh mi, along with sides like long grain rice and ginger rice. The restaurant's modern and colorful decor creates a vibrant atmosphere reminiscent of dining at an authentic South-East Asian street vendor. The reviews don’t lie and neither do I! We managed to get a table for lunch without booking (although it was a weekday). Friendly staff, amazing menu and delicious food! Wish we had more time to try more! We shared the summer rolls, pork belly and spicy prawn and coconut rice! You will not regret your decision to dine here!

Amazing food, great atmosphere - absolutely love this place. Staff are super friendly and helpful. Highly recommend going here. Lots of non-meat options which makes me so happy. Looking forward to going back soon 😋
Tennille J — Google review
Walking into this pho spot was such a pleasant surprise—the vibrant colors immediately caught my eye and gave the place a lively feel. The sweet and friendly staff greeted us warmly, which made us feel right at home. We started with some fresh rolls, and although we didn’t notice they came without meat, they were still very delicious, especially with the flavorful dipping sauce. The interior and styling added an authentic touch, which I really appreciated. The pho itself was fantastic: generous portion sizes, warming, filling, and absolutely delicious. Even the basic pho has a bit of heat, so it’s worth checking with the staff if you prefer something milder. Overall, a great spot for comforting food and welcoming vibes—I’d definitely return.
James Y — Google review
So impressed! I ordered the pho beef noodle soup was comforting and delicious, and the tofu with nest spring roll salad was super fresh and light. You can really taste the quality. The photos I took don’t even do it justice — it tastes better than it looks, I will be coming back here 💕
Ashleigh S — Google review
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Absolutely delicious! We had the BA RỌI CHIÊN GIÒN (Crispy Pork Belly in Sticky Sauce) and SƯỜN RANG ME (Tamarind Spare Ribs) — both were incredible. The pork belly was perfectly crispy with a beautiful sticky glaze, and the tamarind ribs were tender, tangy, and full of flavour. The staff were friendly and attentive, and the atmosphere was vibrant and welcoming. You can really tell there’s passion and care behind every dish. Rice Rice Baby is easily one of the best dining spots in the Mount — can’t wait to come back!
Kiri A — Google review
Amazing delicious succulent food, the best atmosphere, colours and staff. This is by far the best Restaurant I have ever eaten at. I ordered the pork belly and chicken wings in fish sauce just out of this world, full of love, culture, flavours (sweet, spicy), the textures are soft and succulent can’t fault and will definitely be back every single time I visit the Mount. Highly recommend 😊

This place is amazing, every time I drive past it is super busy which is always a good sign. The vibes are so different to anywhere else, and the service was immaculate! The dishes are HUGE but well priced and delicious. I had the creamy coconut curry and it is now my favourite ever curry to date. The banana dessert was also DIVINE. Will definitely go back!

The Rising Tide in Mount Maunganui is a popular spot known for its fusion of craft beer and gourmet dumplings. The restaurant offers an industrial chic decor with ample outdoor seating, making it perfect for group gatherings. They serve a variety of handmade dumplings that pair well with their in-house brewed craft beers. Additionally, the gastropub prides itself on offering comfort food like burgers, tacos, and loaded fries in a laid-back atmosphere.
Really good spot! Tasty burgers and lots of beer options. We went on a Wednesday for their deal — $16 gets you a 500ml beer, a burger, and fries. Totally worth it. Would go again for sure.

It's a fantastic spot to soak up the sun, enjoy a drink, and catch up with friends. The dumplings are delicious! However, keep in mind that the burger and drink deal is so popular that they won't accommodate any modifications—like gluten-free or bunless options—on that deal day, despite advertising gluten-free choices. Great spot with a fun vibe and awesome decor — love the hanging plants and warm lighting! The food menu has plenty of tasty options (the dumplings are a must-try), and the beer is fresh and easy to enjoy. Perfect place to chill with friends.

Awesome pub that has over thirty taps of craft beer, cider, premix spirits etc on tap. Many of the beers are from Mount Brewing Co which is the on-site brewery. There's a broad menu of typical pub fare, the curly fries are always a favorite with our family!
Tim O — Google review
Great spot for larger groups, booking in advance best - we didn’t and were very lucky to get a table for 8 outside on a Saturday of a long weekend. Great place for kids as there’s a big field with balls, chalk for drawing on the ground, colouring in at the tables and cornhole. Heaps of beers to pick from, the three I tried were great. Food was such a surprise! The dumplings were delicious and food came out pretty quick. Kids meals were huge and good value.
Kalliana K — Google review
Went here two days in a row while visiting, very tasty cider and love how dog friendly they are. Dumplings are tasty.
Liz W — Google review
Very noisy, hard to talk or relax. Staff are great, Food good but prefer authentic Chinese dumplings. Huge choice of craft drinks. Great atmosphere for younger customers and families with children as park accessible. Would go again and have done many times but prefer quieter venues
Cheryl C — Google review
We usually really enjoy coming here, the space, atmosphere and food/ beers are great. But this is now the second time we’ve been served lukewarm food. This time the dumplings came out only warm at best, and when I raised it I was bounced between staff before finally being offered new ones. Eventually they did come out hot and were tasty, but I was left feeling like a nuisance, when serving food hot should be the minimum. I would eat here again but will be asking specifically for the food to come out hot.

Historical landmark
The Elms | Te Papa Tauranga is a significant historical site in Tauranga, offering guided tours of its well-preserved mission house, library, and peaceful gardens. This one-hectare property holds category one heritage buildings and nationally important collections, providing visitors with a glimpse into the early interactions between Maori and Pakeha. The site's rich history dates back to the 1830s when English missionary Alfred Brown and his wife Charlotte established the mission.
My husband and I visited the Elms Mission while visiting the Tauranga area on the north island of New Zealand, and found it extremely interesting. Our tour guide was excellent, very knowledgeable and personable, and able to answer all of our questions. The Elms Mission was founded by the Anglican missionary, Alfred Brown, & his first wife, Charlotte, in 1838. Brown learned the local Maori language (impressive) and preached the Christian message to Maori throughout the Bay of Plenty, often walking over rough tracks to remote settlements. He converted many Maori to the Christian faith. However, the battle of Gate Pa on April 21, 1864 (battle between the Maori and the English imperial troops) forever changed this as British soldiers were given land previously occupied by the Maori people. As the Maori were forced to abandon their ancestral lands, the work of the Te Papa Elms Mission Station declined. Brown and his second wife, Christina, purchased the mission and some surrounding land in 1873. Brown died in 1884, and Christina died in 1887, but the land remained in her family until 1997. The Elms Foundation was founded in 1999 and purchased the Elms Mission. Today, you can tour the mission for $20 New Zealand dollars, which is well worth it. You get a guided tour of the house and the library (which are filled with antiques and pictures from the Browns and their relatives), and can then explore the grounds, which includes the chapel and several other outbuildings. We would strongly recommend that you walk to the Elms Cemetery to see the graves of Alfred Brown, his son, and his wife, as well as the Maori chief, and the graves of several of the officers and enlisted Imperial troops. It's a great cemetery if you like cemeteries! We were very impressed with the Elms Mission. If you like history, this is the place for you!

I absolutely loved this place! The garden is stunning, filled with magnificent ancient trees that create a serene and picturesque atmosphere. Meeting David, our tour guide and a professional historian, was a real highlight — his knowledge and passion made the tour both enriching and informative. A slice of history in this part of the Bay of Plenty. You'll be transported back in time inside the well-preserved cabins or houses where the people back then used to live in. The garden is just awesome! Serene and quiet in the heart of the city. The guides are welcoming, pleasant and very knowledgeable.

Beautifully maintained historic site with fantastic gardens. The lovely guide (Judy, I believe) was so knowledgeable and passionate about the topics of the presentation. She added another layer of perfection to an already magnificent experience.

Wow! Such beautiful grounds with so much history, 3 delightful guides took me around, they were so enthusiastic and passionate about sharing the information about the Elms. And I did not know the first ever building in New Zealand of the library amazing! And listening to the guides I felt I had been transported back in time visualizing them walking around from the 1800's. So much to see so many interesting everyday items used that we dont need to use these days, that were so valuable back then, even common illnesses such as asthma which effected one of those living in this time died. Highly recommend to visit.

Mauao, also known as Mount Maunganui, is an extinct 232-meter volcanic cone and a sacred site for the Maori people. It is a popular destination in Tauranga with hiking trails that provide stunning ocean views. The area around Mount Maunganui is bustling with over 16,000 residents and includes several neighboring areas.
Amazing view! The walk is a bit steep, and there are a few cliff edges to be mindful of if you're going with young kids—but we did it with our 5-year-old daughter, and she loved it. All in all, a fantastic experience!
Elaine L — Google review
We come here twice a year, love it! Climbing the Mount is an absolute must, I try and get up there 3/4 times during our visit, the views are incredible!
Robyn B — Google review
The climb was good. Easy hike even my 4 year old daughter manage to reach the summit without telling me to carry her. The summit was the disappointing part since theres too much trees there and they kinda blocked the beautiful view. A little bit of trimming would make a huge difference. Would go there again. Recommended.

Nestled on New Zealand’s Bay of Plenty coast, Mount Maunganui offers a perfect blend of golden-sandy beaches, lively seaside cafés, and a dramatic volcanic summit. The ascent of Mauao rewards with panoramic ocean and harbour views, while the main beach invites surf or sun-soaked relaxation. Busy in high Summer but still charming year-round, the village vibe and natural beauty make it a memorable getaway.
LEVI S — Google review
Mount Maunganui is one of the most beautiful coastal spots in New Zealand. The base track is easy enough for kids and gives incredible ocean views all the way around. The main beach has clean sand, safe waves, and a peaceful family vibe — perfect for relaxing or letting the kids play freely. Whether you want a scenic walk, a swim, or just to sit and watch the sunset, this place truly feels like a small paradise.

648 steps along the 1826m climb to the summit. Your calves will burn but your heart will rejoice. This is a must see.

Maunganui Beach is a stunning coastal destination located at the base of Mount Maunganui in Tauranga, New Zealand. This picturesque beach offers miles of pristine white sand and is a popular spot for surfers due to its consistent left and right-hand breaks. The beach's sun-soaked shores provide the perfect setting for sunbathing and relaxation, with the rhythmic sound of the waves adding to the tranquil atmosphere.
Very popular beach at peak times but the views alone are worth it. The sand is clean and the water is divinely refreshing to take a swim in. The foreshore has a boardwalk path that you can walk along that has plenty of seating if you need to rest. There’s also water fountains to refill your drink bottles.
SARGES’ F — Google review
One of the best day of my stay in Tauranga. Great weather such a relaxing day while kayaking and enjoying the beautiful sunny weather. Tauranga it’s a great place for outdoor activities. Specially River Rafting is cool.
Fiat — Google review
I have been here in the past, but Maunganui Beach is one of the most beautiful beaches I have ever visited. It is not very busy usually and it is pristine. There is high visibility so children can play and several cafés and food trucks in the area. It is a must to visit if you are in the area. Lots of free parking too.
Erastos E — Google review
Very long shore line with white sand, kid friendly (with supervision of course), life guards present with many food shops and food trucks to choose from and a UV Index metre to let you know what you need to do to be safe from the sun's rays. You can also do side treks to Mount Maunganui or Moturiki Island for your steps (the views are breath taking). Definitely going back to the beach (and the mountain) next time we're in Tauranga. *** Do note that parking takes time on busy hours so plan your day ahead and bring lots of patience if you wish to find a good park.. 🤙🏻
Jasper L — Google review
The beach is very big and beautiful. The sand is white and soft. On the weekends it can become difficult to find a parking spot although there are plenty of places, but the beach gets really crowded. There are a lot of food trucks close by and different restaurants which you can find in a couple of minutes by foot.
Evan G — Google review

Thank you so much, Nigel, for your exceptional attention to detail during our tour. You went above and beyond by going back home to fetch a suitable seat for my baby, and even had goggles prepared in the trunk just in case. Since our baby is quite small, you customised a city view journey for us, which was thoughtful and appreciated. The power of the V8 engine was thrilling, and the kids were absolutely excited. I highly recommend everyone to give this a try — it's more than worth it!

Got off the Pacific Explorer, heard about the V8 Triles before hand, seen them out the front. 4 of us took the 1 hour V8 drive… boy it was fabulous, it added to the great adventures so far from visiting ports of New Zealand. Worth seeing the guys, book a slot, sit back and enjoy the ride.

What a spectacular way to see the sights. I took 3 generations on the 4 seater trike for an 1hr with Nick. What a terrific time we had.. aged 13 to 78. We ordered three dishes for $60, and it was absolutely worth it! Everything was fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented. Roasted Pork Banh Mi – The baguette was crispy and fresh, filled with juicy roasted pork, crunchy cucumber, coriander, pickled carrot, and house-made mayo—killer feed Deep-Fried Spring Rolls – Perfectly crispy and packed with a tasty mix of fresh vegetables, carrots, celery, and onion, paired with a delicious sweet and sour sauce. Stir-Fried Garlic Butter Prawn Rice – The prawns were juicy and full of flavor, complemented by pickled daikon, carrot, cucumber, tomato, and nuoc mam sauce over fragrant jasmine rice. Everything was cooked to perfection, and the flavours were well-balanced and authentic. Highly recommend—I'm in here weekly always back for more! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

My family and I are regular customers, and we always enjoy coming here. All the dishes are delicious with big portions, the atmosphere is cozy, and the staff are very friendly. Our favorite dishes include stir-fried garlic beef Pho, banh mi, charcoal grill honey pork rice, and Vietnamese braised pork belly with rice, but honestly, everything tastes amazing! We never leave disappointed!

We ordered 3 dishes, cost us $60. It can eat, but the taste is average. I had noodle salad with prawns, and the prawns are pale on the side and no favourite. My husband had noodle salad with pork and fried spring rolls. The spring rolls were nice.

Our Saturday morning routine, exceptional selections of fresh & locally sourced food/produce. The vendors are always delightful, truly special people. Grateful to have such a wonderful market!
K N — Google review
What's not to like! The aroma of freshly baked and food cooking on site, the colours of the fresh produce and the banter of the stall holders. A great way to spend a morning stocking up on everything and more. You'll find an array of herbs, soaps, liquors, breads... even things you never knew you needed (or wanted) so badly. A fantastic operation and looking forward to my next visit.
Rach O — Google review
Not much vendors here, but people are friendly and the food is good.
Steven Z — Google review
If you like farmers markets, then it's suitable. Perhaps some stalls haven't returned back as there aren't that many farm produced. More stalls selling food than farm produced. However some of the farm products are really very fresh like free range eggs and avocadoes. Won't take you too long to walk around. Parking is easily to find but may need to walk around 100-200 steps.
E W — Google review
This isn't the biggest market, but it has a nice variety of produce, some delicious cheese, good bread, and a few food stalls. We went early and it was already getting crowded; so I suspect it gets very busy later in the morning.

Baywave TECT Aquatic & Leisure Centre is a fantastic indoor water facility located near central Mt Maunganui, offering an array of activities for families. The center features a wave-generating pool, an exciting water slide, and a dedicated area for toddlers. Additionally, the complex includes the largest wave pool in New Zealand. When weather doesn't permit outdoor adventures, this aquatic haven provides an excellent alternative for fun and entertainment.
We were on a school trip, and the kids loved it. Warm enough to not get cold, but not too warm either. Lots of fun activities for kids, and saunas and spa pools are wonderful, a little bit expensive but well worth it. 5 stars from me
Harirewa H — Google review
Our first time there as we've just moved here. Great place for the kids and plenty of different pools to enter. There's a slide and plank too. The kids loved it.
Kelly H — Google review
Awesome service and the kids love the facilities. Not impressed with the lack general house keeping though, seeing a dirty nappy and food containers sit in the same place while staff walked past and even looked at multiple times over 2 hours is very concerning, I would expect to see someone whip a round with a dust pan and broom once every couples just to get it looking tidy. Also can someone please let me know why there is spectator fee and what services this fee covers? I feel it is unnecessary given its already pricey just to take the kids and given the general presentation its clearly not for cleaning. All and all the place is cool and great fund for the fams but maybe work on the presentation/house keeping especially when changing extra to sit pool side. Noone likes paying to sit in a mess
Reina S — Google review
Have come to this place for a long time and have never had anything negative to say except for our experience today. My whanau and I came in with 4 kids swimming, one of them being 17 so we paid an adult price for her. The lady who checked us in was Yan? my husband and I with our 4month old were not swimming. Just spectating. When I said just 3 kids 1 adult swimming she said rudely I might add "so just four swimming? Not you all? Because we have to pay for everything around here" I was reassuring her that no, just 4 swimming and her tone was off. She even asked my son how old he was before we went in. After we paid already to which he told her 11 and even then didn't seem satisfied that we were even telling the truth of the kids ages. I'm only sharing this in hoping some customer service training will be given to this staff member and in future to not make it her job to judge people who come into this establishment.
Talei P — Google review
Great family fun and well supervised. Super facilities and, for me, great experience for disabled folk. Water wheelchair and hoists into Spa pool. Fabulous 👌 A great place to book your child's birthday part. Pirates ship and great hydro slide and a pool with waves. Fun, fun, and lots of fun.
Diana M — Google review
only negative feedback is the lack of cleaning, my teenager son wouldn't get dressed in the mens changing rooms as it was filthy, the same issue in the women's, then we tried the family change and was all the same. I'd like to add a suggestion also if you could at least do one day a week during school time even if it was once a month, make a sensory day, I have an autistic child plus 2 sensory sensitive girls that love to swim, loves waterslides and wave pool but the noise and crowds is to much for them during school holidays/weekend, would be nice if one day a month at least, on a school day so it's nice and quiet make it available that the hydro slide and wave pool are operating id happily even pay double price just so my kids could get a chance to do those things while the main crowd is all at school!
Anna — Google review

We have only been to the clip and climb side so far, it is lots of fun for the kids, entertaining them for most of the hour allocated. my sister and her family visiting from overseas missed out on the extra activities you buy as apparently they don't run them at the end of the last session like they do the earlier sessions, but unfortunately we weren't told this until it was too late which was disappointing, as it was there only opportunity to try them. We would have appreciated knowing that in advance, as it wasn't in the briefing or told to us on arrival or any of the other times we've been, which was disappointing. If you're reading this far and wanting to try the two extra activities then at least you know now to not go to the 4pm session!

Not visitor friendly in my view. Very hard to find your way round the course, even though being told that women are off the front tees.... sometimes the front tees were over the bridge or below a mound. Excellent coffee in the bar though 🤗🤗

Waste of time and money. Putting the game aside (1 over handicap), the course condition was rough for the price. $70 for me and my brother ( we are junior affiliated nz members), and a rental trundler that had had wobbly wheel cost $20! I'd also like to add the pro shop lady was rude and made us feel like we didn't belong there as it's got a rich fancy vibe. Also during our round we had a tee time at 11:56 and a group of five (Omanu members)were due to tee off at 12:02 and 5 minutes before our tee off they got on and hit off. We then continued to be stuck behind them. We even sat on the tee box at the same time for 2 minutes between there routines. ended up taking 3 hours to do nine holes so we pushed in front of them to the 15 and skipped a few holes. Overall course layout was decent. Course condition was fair. Unless you are wealthy I don't recommend playing here.

This is a lovely airport golf course. I went around with my 16 year old son and two squash mates, one of whom takes his golf pretty seriously. So, we had all levels of golf represented. And that's one of the joys of this course. It's forgiving but challenging. The golf diehard went round in 7 over. He was happy. My 16 year old lost 5 balls and was thrilled. I took my Colonel Bogey and appreciated the risk reward on offer. It's verdant and beautifully kept. It's soft and flat. The greens run true and reasonably quickly. If you're in town and looking for a round, there's clubs and buggies for hire. You don't need to lug your clubs around the world. Brownie points with the missus. Every now and then, a low flying Air New Zealand turbo prop threatens to give you a haircut, zooming through so low that you can see the faces of the pilots. The reception is warm, they try to make things work for you. The lady at the front desk is born to customer service. It's well worth the experience.

Skydive Tauranga offers an exhilarating experience with a 20-minute scenic flight showcasing stunning views of Mount Maunganui, the coastline, and offshore islands. As you ascend higher, you'll be treated to sights of White Island, Tuhua (Mayor) island, Motiti island, Karewa island, and even distant landmarks like Mount Ruapehu and Rotorua Lakes.
This was the first time skydiving for both my and my son. My Son was excited..I was literally scared to death. The entire team could immediately tell that I was hesitant, and all worked together to make me feel comfortable. I was partnered with Kitsch, who is so amazing!! He talked to me the whole flight up, to help calm my nerves, explained exactly what was going to happen each step of the way AND .... I had the MOST AMAZING Experience!! The ride was so fun!! I would do it again in an instant. My son was teamed with Gui, and the two of them hit it off, my son says he will definitely sky dive again. I can't say enough good things about Kitsch and Gui, or the whole team at Sky Dive Tauranga. Get the photo package, you won’t be disappointed

What a beautiful way to spend and afternoon in Tauranga! My friend and I had the most wonderful time on our first ever sky diving experience. The team here is very professional and they guide you at every step. What an experience!! I would do this again and again

Such a cool experience and the staff were super lovely! They made us feel so comfortable, very accommodating, and really committed to offering a fun experience. The instructors were very experienced (12k+ jumps completed) and coached us through the way on breathing, keeping the body relaxed etc. Just a great bunch of people!

Hi, it's Marilyn here. My granddaughter and. myself did our first jump today and it was absolutely amazing. Nobody can prepare you for an experience quite like it. The staff and crew were amazing also, and certainly took away the nerves!! Right from the very beginning, everything was explained and they totally do an excellent job! Thank you so very much and I will definitely be doing another jump!!!! Totally recommended!!🤗

This was my first skydiving experience and it made me want to do it a million times over! The guys that work there really make the experience so special, even from the moment you’re getting harnessed. I was pretty nervous on the way up in the plane but Kieran was amazing. He was so chill and calm and I just felt really safe with him. He was also so good at spreading the stoke and good vibes to both me and my friend! We couldn’t believe how quick the photos and videos came through afterwards as well. The actual location is just such a cool backdrop when jumping, couldn’t recommend this place more! Thanks guys! 🤙🏻

Blondie Diner is a popular spot that has received recognition in the Outstanding New Establishment category. The diner offers a variety of dishes, including the breakfast burrito, fish sandwich, mushroom melt toasted sandwich, curly fries with chicken salt, and choc chip cookies. Visitors appreciate the ambiance and music at Blondie Diner. Some highlights include the amazing waffles and outstanding cookies. However, there have been mixed reviews about certain items such as the lolly cake.
A good places for a Sunday brunch. The menu offered a good range of options, and the servings were generous. The service was prompt and cheerful and the cafe offered indoor and outdoor seating. Being on one of Mt Maunganui's main thoroughfare there was limited parking outside but the cafe is well placed within the main shopping precinct
Chris C — Google review
Cool place, food was pretty average. I had the salmon bagel, too salty, wasn’t very nice. My partner had the Italian sandwich, very average, small for price.
Simone M — Google review
“Worlds saltiest bagel and saltiest social media team” Most Saltiest unbalance bagel I’ve ever had. Wasn’t going to post this publicly but I thought I should warn others. It’s not that hard to make a decent bagel, so unsure how they managed to. But given their response they clearly have a bit of an ego and hubris. Didn't have a great experience at or after visiting Blondie, wasn’t informed about a 30minute wait period, when I attempted to cancel my order they said they had started making it which was untrue as I saw the staff just start the order. Bagel was chewy and not adequately toasted, the fried capers were overly salty and piled on which ruined the whole bagel, you could literally not taste any other element. very disappointed by food and behaviour of the social media team as well as they can’t take any feedback and resorted to calling me Gordan Ramsey haha which ngl is a compliment. I hope they grow some thick skin and some tastebuds in the future and fix “the worlds saltiest bagel”
Kallum B — Google review
we were super excited to come here for a feed! ordered the curly fries and waffle sando. The sandwhich was exceptional, on the other hand the curly fries looked to be scraps, well overcooked and disappointing, the chocolate milkshake was spot on and the vibes in the shop were nice and chill. Disappointing you can only get a side if you get a main especially if that’s the quality of the side. Would definitely go back for a sandwhich and shake!
Kayley K — Google review
Tasty food and friendly service. We enjoyed a mid-week lunch at Blondie we ordered the breakfast burrito and the chicken sandwich and they were both fresh and delicious.

Salmon bagel was good, thoroughly enjoyed. Waffle was unfortunately very average. Only got one medium sized waffle. Adding a tablespoon of berry compote, cream and half a small kiwifruit cost $10. If you have waffles on your mind, I wouldn’t recommend. Coffee was good, 6.8/10.

4th March 2019. Nice resort style course with very friendly staff and members. I'm envious of the folks whose homes border the course and just roll their trolleys to the Starters for a round. There's junior golf that afternoon - great to see the next generation of kiwi golfers coming up. Member recommended we drive up the peninsula and we had the extra bonus of great ocean side views and nice dinner.

Brilliant sculptures - if you've read the books to your kids you and they will love them - if not read your kids the books!

Great park and playground for kids. Heaps of climbing things, swings and water play stuff. Awesome Hairy Maclary statues that are great to photograph with your kids
Paul E — Google review
The kids had the best time ever. Loved naming the animals and searching out each one. You can spend quite a bit of time searching and playing as an activity before you even get to the playpark next door. Suitable for various ages too. Different heights mean our 1 yo and 5 yo both had fun climbing and playing around the statues.

Really appreciate the waterfront, family friendly, steps down to the estuary to dip your feet. Hairy Maclary dog, water feature, and playground. Nice to go there after dinner at the nearby restaurants.

Hairy Maclary and Friends Sculptures on the waterfront. The sculptures are a favourite with the young ones, as many sit on or next to the statues to take photos with them. The sculptures are behind a fence, with a sign next to it. You won't miss from the water side if walking by
William L — Google review
Such a neat little display of sculptures, all the favourite characters with amazing details. Great spot to visit and right next to a playground. Highly recommend checking it out
Bronson D — Google review
My kids are big fans of the Hairy Maclary books so they were excited to come see the statues. They're all together in a little area and are approximately life-sized so kids can climb all over them (except perhaps muffin maclay as he's a bit spikey). The usual suspects are there with scarface claw up a pole the subject of their attention but there are also some cool little details e.g. slinky malinki creeping along the edge of the scene or zachary quack whispering into the ear of hercules morse.

I visited this lovely village on a Friday, and it was such a peaceful experience! The vintage style of the place is charming, with its quaint architecture and timeless atmosphere. It was quiet and some shops were closed.
Isabelle Q — Google review
The place itself is fantastic! A cute little village vibe to wander and engage with local artists and businesses. Unfortunately we went to the cafe and I chose the salmon quiche- which turned out to be a bacon quiche. There was no salmon in the quiche at all, just the one piece on the top. So our dogs enjoyed a treat, while I got a bad taste in my mouth about the Cafe there.
Melissa W — Google review
What a cool place to visit. I don't know how I didn't know about this place sooner. Cool shops, few art galleries if that's your thing and some places to eat. The cafe we had brunch at was delicious and not badly priced either. Loved how a few of the place are Māori owned too

Very small and not much to look at . Shockingly most of the shops were closed . One thing that i noticed that no shop owners talk to you or give you any smile which was very rude . Howick village is far better . Lot of area is needed to work out with . This place certainly needs people who love other people and not another robot .

Great little visit with some interesting businesses about. Its not really a historic village its a replica of a village with some restored historical buildings and coomunity organizations occupying them. The grounds are nice. There is a little history told in a couple of the buildings

Only gave 1 star because you can't give 0 Edit. Reply to owner response. The rating wasn't for the maps it was for the lack or tourism knowledge and the terrible attititude/customer service. What a really cool place its a bit of a hidden gem. I didnt know it was there. We took my 2 year old so all the planes were just fascinating. Food and coffee was great. Play ground needs a little updating but honestly can't fault anything but that. We loved watching the fire trucks and the jet plane being brought in. Also they have an on premise licence so a cheeky wine is available 😉

The museum was more interesting than I expected. Was able to look into the cockpits and walk through airplanes. Information given on wall displays was interesting. The children's play area was good.

We have taken our Grandkids here over the years, with varying degrees of enjoyment. Definitely a place for plane enthusiasts as they have a large amount of aviation history on display and presented well. Would say all the restoration work requires a lot of funding so can understand the entry price. Under 5s are free which is fair and if you look on the Bookme NZ site you can pick up cheaper adult tickets. The cafe was busy but prices are expensive. Only criticism is I hope they tidy up the playground area. Long grass and starting to look tired. The plane pedal cars are always a hit.

There are bbq places and decent toilets. Also, miniature trains go on certain Sundays. Attached to the park, you can play tennis table and practice futsal or volleyball as well. Holiday park
Nestled in the heart of Mount Maunganui, the Beachside Holiday Park offers a convenient location for those looking to explore the area. The park provides easy access to Adams Avenue and the Base Track loop, as well as a scenic boardwalk along the beach leading to Marine Parade. For freedom camping enthusiasts, designated sites with a two-day limit are available for self-contained vehicles, ensuring a beach-side experience while adhering to regulations.
Our one night stay here was lovely! We got an amazing location right on the beach front. Which we thought would be loud but it wasn’t too bad. Showers were clean, free hot water with good water pressure. Never have to wait in line. Receptionist was very welcoming and helpful. Other campers were lovely and friendly. So close to the mount walkway and the beach. Would definitely stay here again.

Fantastic location right on the beach. Friendly staff who remembered my booking. Stunning views and if you book early you have a choice of the best spots. Good facilities. Clean and tidy. Good security. Walking distance to a range of shops. Ideal base for the walk up the mountain sunset on one side and sunrise on the other.
Kevin B — Google review
This is an iconic camp ground in the heart of Mount Maunganui at the base of the actual mountain. Excellent facilities with immaculate toilets and showers. The grounds are well maintained and the camp guide gives all the necessary info. Fobs are used to gain entry to all facilities. Sites are level with adequate space for a vehicle to park as well. Walking distance to shops, and of course the iconic trails around the Mountain it’s self. The only criticism would be oven in the kitchen by caravan sites near Pilot Bay is not very efficient. Probably does need a replacement. Highly recommend this camp.
Mike R — Google review
Fantastic holiday park! Great location not only for access to the beach but also for the mountain walk. Staff were so helpful and really friendly. Toilets and kitchen were at a fantastic standard
Lewis W — Google review
The receptionist was so lovely when I checked in and the place is just the best. The walking distance to the hot pools is very nice as well as the amenities on site. I stayed in my car and had super quiet nights as well as a beautiful views of sunrise and sunset.

Nature preserve
Moturiki Island, also known as Leisure Island, is a nature reserve located near Mount Maunganui beach. It can be accessed via a man-made land bridge and offers natural blow holes and rock pools to explore. The island was once home to an aquarium but has since become a sanctuary for nature enthusiasts. Visitors can enjoy stunning 360-degree views of Mount Maunganui/Mauao, the coastline, and the ocean from this little paradise.
We wondered into a side trail here, thought that it was a short walk to a lookout. However, we were surprised to find out that it was quite a trail! The island extends to the sea quite a bit, you should allow yourself 45 min to a hour to fully enjoy the fantastic scenes!
Pujing P — Google review
This is a worthwhile little trek from the beach through an island reserve. The walk appears deceptively short from the shore so give yourself time. After having climbed the Mount this is a much gentler excursion but worth doing.
Bernard S — Google review
👍🏼 Like my review. We were visiting Tauranga as part of our trek across New Zealand 🇳🇿 and after climbing up Mauao / Mount Maunganui, we went on a very easy hike at Moturiki Island (Leisure Island). We would highly recommend to anyone in the area and are able to on this beautiful hike. There were so many photographs we took and soaking in the environment was absolutely beautiful. We are glad we did this on our quick stay in this beautiful resort area!

Moturiki Island, also known as Leisure Island, is a charming little escape just off Mount Maunganui’s Main Beach. This accessible island is connected by a man-made land bridge, making it easy to reach for a quick adventure. The island is a protected reserve, perfect for a leisurely stroll along well-marked paths. The highlight is the blowhole at the northern tip, which shoots water high into the air during high tides—definitely worth the short walk to see! Along the way, you can explore fascinating rock pools filled with marine life, making it a fun spot for kids and nature lovers alike. With stunning views of the Pacific Ocean and Mount Maunganui, Moturiki Island offers a peaceful retreat from the busyness of the beach. It’s an ideal spot for a picnic or just to soak in the beautiful scenery. Overall, it’s a lovely destination that shouldn’t be missed when visiting the area!
Michael W — Google review
This small island juts out into the sea and has a lovely, shaded walk out to the end. It used to be Leisure Island with a pool, games, rides, etc. but has been recognised as being a special place so is now free of that stuff and more formally called Moturiki. The views back to The Mount (Mauao) and the beach are amazing, especially on a sunny day.
Mark W — Google review
It offered a short and easy walk with good views overlooking the beach. The area is ideal for photography and bushwalking, with a shaded section providing a pleasant escape from the sun-drenched beach, where shade is scarce.
Kwee ( — Google review
An enjoyable short walk off Mt Maunganui Beach. At the end of the island is a formation called the "blow hole". This produces a spectacular show of spray when a large easterly swell is running. On the day we did the walk the sea is calm.
Chris C — Google review
Great Little Island Walk right in the Middle of Mount Maunganui Beach. The Walk provides Stunning 360 Views of the Mount Maunganui/Mauao and the Beach/Coastline.Even a View of the Deep Wide Ocean and the Container Ships and Cruiseships passing by.People also Fish here as it quite a Distance from the Shoreline. Its a Nice Little mission and only takes about 20 to 30 mins to walk the Whole Island.A easier hike than Mauao if short on time but worth having a Look.

The Lion & Tusk - Museum of the Rhodesian Services Association in Tauranga is a top museum offering an opportunity to delve into the military history of the country. The museum showcases a remarkable collection of Air Force exhibits and cannons, along with old combat equipment like swords and daggers. It provides insights into the involvement of Commonwealth troops in the Rhodesian Bush War, including New Zealand soldiers' arrival in 1979.
Special mention and thanks to Hugh Bomford for the professional service I received. My Grey's Scouts blazer badges are perfect. My now 8 year old grandson Shane will once again be laying the Rhodesian Coat of Arms wreath "In Remembrance of All Fallen Rhodesians" in Ripon North Yorkshire UK on Remembrance Sunday November 2025. Much appreciated Hugh. Looking forward to buying more items in the future. Kind regards and best wishes Albert (Dick) Weidemann

Ordered 3 sets of Rhodie dog tags, and in the past 2 Selous Scouts beret with support from L&T on how to prep the beret and measurements etc. Very happy with the current order of dog tags

If you have in any way a connection to Rhodesia or Zimbabwe, this is a "must visit place" to visit. I've personally visited here twice, and I live on the opposite side of the world! This museum must keep going to preserve Rhodesia's heritage. Please subscribe even if you are unlikely to be able to visit in person. Even subscribe your children for them, like I have done. What a great job Hugh, and his volunteers does for all of us ex Rhodies. Thank you Hugh.
Stephen S — Google review
I am highly impressed with the museum and very appreciative of their efforts to preserve Rhodesian history. Mr. Bomford was extremely helpful in assisting me with getting my late father's GSM. I also purchased some other items including pens and Doppie pens. The quality is fantastic. I will be purchasing more items in the future. Special thanks to Mr. Bomford for taking so much time to help with my needs.
R G — Google review
I have been included in the L n T museum activities for the past few years and latterly a member. I have received much info and good reading - as a result I can only conclude as a Rhodie how much the content is appreciated and valued. The hospitality shown through various correspondence is testament to our heritage. George Posselt.

Unfortunately I’ve never been to New Zealand, so I haven’t visited the Lion and Tusk Museum, but if I ever do make it to Kiwiland, this would surely be at the top of my list of things to do. I did order a RhodieWear Camo Combat Cap from the Rhodesian Services Store - which they were happy to custom make in the unlisted and hard-to-find size of 64cm at no extra charge. I’ve been trying to buy hats for this big head for over half a century, but I’ve never been happier with the comfort, fit, and quality of any other hat. The unique style, iconic camo pattern, and opportunity to support the Rhodesian Services organization are great too, and Hugh Bomford provided great customer service and communication. I’ll be back.
Jack M — Google review
The Rhodesian Service Association Museum store, is outstanding. The quality, attention to detail and customer service, is second to none. Hats off to Hugh Bomford. Highly recommended!

The Mount has one of the best beaches in the world. It stretches for miles and miles. There's always a spot to hang, whether you're looking to walk or run along the beach, surf, Kayak, stand-up paddle boarding, swimming and everything in-between. The closure to Mauao you get, generally the smaller the waves - so go find your spot!
Anthony ( — Google review
Nice swimming beach and good sunbathing spot. When we went there were quite a lot of beach-goers, so get in early. Remember the sunscreen, otherwise you'll be going home looking like a ripe tomato

A place to Remember the Soldiers. early morning.Anzac day. Also rest of year ; a restful place. Park bench seats. A swim a walk away. Space galore. Christmas can be very busy. Eg. Try to find a park. cheers.

Always clean and tidy and very grateful for the parking for disabled. Gorgeous views. Mine and my late husband's favourite place to relax and have a fishnchip and flask coffee whilst taking in the views.

Sharing one bbq with few locals and holiday makers when 2 others were not operating or fully functioning. Other people willing to wait and chill out till it was there turn to cook is pretty cool. Despite whats going on with covid19 the vibe up here in the mount is pretty good 👍 👌

A visit to Mount Maunganui wouldn't be complete without a day at the stunning Pepi Toot Beach Express. This beach is renowned for its soft sands and inviting waters, making it an ideal spot for families looking to enjoy the sun and surf. Great value and great fun. Will definitely do this again. Wonderful way to experience Mt Maunganui. Lovely lady 'engineer'.
Mu B — Google review
probably a great service but while I was driving today they did try to cut me off, while illegally merging over a meridian line, and then the old lady driving flipped me the bird when I “pepi” tooted my horn at her. (My wife took the photo)

Today was the day, sunny and bright, for a locals train ride with 3yr grandson..we spend Mondays together and I work downtown mt and see pepi go past all the time..says they are open on websight..clearly not...pre checked ✔️ and we tried to call no response..we waited over half an hour, was told nicely by a male driver when cruise ships were in, to wait for weekday, locals as was fully booked..quite disappointed..if u could pls make it clear when u r operating. Thx

Good way to spend 30 mins. Is $10 for an adult, $5 per child, pre schoolers are free. Essentially this is a loop around the outer streets of Mount Maunganui (pilot bay and the beach).

The "Pepi Toot" Beach Express, a popular tourist attraction, will take you to places in Mount Maunganui that you might otherwise not see. Starting at Salisbury Avenue you'll take a narrated tour through the streets of Mount Maunganui along Pilot Bay and Marine Parade returning back to your starting point at Salisbury Avenue "toot", "toot"
