Absolutely cannot recommend ESSpa enough! I have lived in Pittsburgh for 5 years and this is the best spa I have been too. From the moment you walk in, you feel relaxed and like you’ve transported to Europe. The vibes are 10/10. The staff were all so friendly and welcoming, and my esthetician Kylie was absolutely amazing during my Hungarian facial. She was knowledgeable and made the experience wonderful. I will definitely be back for another facial, and would love to try a massage and their other services as well!
Laney S — Google review
This spa is fantastic. They use only clean, organic skincare products, and the European vibes make it feel like you are on vacation. The staff is so friendly and everyone makes you feel right at home. I opted for the 60-minute maternity massage and left feeling relaxed and refreshed.

I discovered Esspa thanks to Run Relay and had a really wonderful self care morning. It’s a never ending self care spot, and from the outside I didn’t even realize. Both my massage and signature facial were perfect. Each practitioner was patient and helpful, walked me through what was happening as needed, checked in with me as services were provided and really made me feel comfortable.

I had the most amazing experience getting a Hungarian facial at ESSpa! From the moment I walked in, the atmosphere was calm, welcoming, and beautifully curated. The facial itself was incredibly relaxing and left my skin feeling fresh, hydrated, and truly glowing—no harsh treatments or gimmicks, just real, natural skincare that works. You can tell they’ve been doing this for over 20 years; the staff is knowledgeable, professional, and genuinely passionate about what they do. As someone who values wellness and lasting results, I can’t recommend this woman-led Pittsburgh spa enough. I’ll definitely be back!

This is the cutest spa I have ever seen! The environment was absolutely amazing, it felt as if you were sitting in a different world and you could literally forget everything and just enjoy the time there. I had a massage and they were lovely was able to communicate with them and let them know my needs and they did not hesitate to meet my needs.
Felicity — Google review
I stopped in for a hot stone massage and left so relaxed! Everything is so beautiful when you walk in! They have every service imaginable from head to toes. Perfect amount of pressure and temperature for the massage! Afterwards I was given cucumber and mint infused water! They have a super cute relaxing loft upstairs for after your service if you want to go sit up there!
Ciara D — Google review
I spent the day here and guys wow. Just wow. They have everything you could want - nails, waxing, facials, massages, red light therapy, ultrasound technology. Everything! I had no idea how dull my skin was but this dermaplaning facial made a WORLD of difference. Even my mom was blown away when I walked in the door. It’s always hard for me to take time like this away, just for me, but this was well worth it. Highly recommend my esthetician, Erin. Ladies, make those appointments! Gentlemen, get those gift certificates (maybe an end of summer, kids back to school treat?!). This was a great way to spend my morning.

Quick same day appointment. In town for a work conference, called and spoke with Jennifer, she was so accommodating and very courteous when making appointment. Derek was my therapist and he was phenomenal. Deep pressure was just what I needed. Highly recommend!!!

Spa Jema was such a treat - a very clean, soothing environment. Went for a facial with Brandi and she was amazing, so relaxing and my skin has never felt better. Would recommend!
Abbey K — Google review
I had no idea Spa Jema was nestled not far from Market Square, downtown Pittsburgh, but I'm so glad I know now! I had a pedicure with Emily and it was a wonderful experience. The staff at Spa Jema are all kind and welcoming and I cannot wait to go back for a massage (and someday the beautiful sauna). It was a very pleasant and relaxing experience and I would highly suggest visiting this day spa.
Arielle L — Google review
My girlfriend and I recently visited Spa Jema for a much-needed escape from a busy work schedule, and we chose their massage therapy services. From the moment we arrived, we were impressed with the welcoming atmosphere. The decor was elegant, and the calming scents immediately put us at ease. The staff at Spa Jema were incredibly warm and attentive. They took the time to understand our needs and made sure we were comfortable throughout the entire experience. My girlfriend and I got a massage separately and it was nothing short of amazing. The therapist Nathaniel is highly skilled, professional and customized the session to address our specific concerns. As we melted into the massage, it was clear that the therapist is an expert in his craft. Every knot and tension point was addressed with care, leaving us both feeling completely rejuvenated. My girlfriend was especially impressed by how personalized her massage felt, targeting her stress points perfectly. The overall experience was truly memorable. Spa Jema provided us not just a service but an experience that will have us coming back again . We left feeling lighter, both physically and mentally, and we can't wait to return for another session. If you're looking for a place to unwind and experience top-notch massage therapy, Spa Jema is the perfect choice. Ask for Nathaniel, he'll take care of you.

Moody. Modern. Zen. Nested off a quiet street in downtown pittsburgh, this full service spa an oasis of calm. An ultimate urban escape. The smell of cedar in the private sauna melted away any and all stresses pairing nicely with the hot stone massage. My deepest sleep soon followed.

Love, Love, Love coming to this spa! So clean and well decorated. Everyone there has been so nice and accommodating. Emily gives the best mani pedi iv ever had. My nails look great for so long every time with that dazzle dry, but, this is my first gel pictured with the sunflower! Just what we came up with at the appt. for something different.

This is the place to go! I love the atmosphere and the staff here are so welcoming. I got a massage by Nathaniel on my first visit and he was very accommodating to my needs & how i wanted my service. Went back a second time! to get a manicure by Emily and she was so kind all the while being gentle with my cuticles & hands. If you’re nervous about trying new places I would highly recommend this spa for multiple needs. Thank you for having me!

Spa Jema posts availability on the class pass app.. I scheduled once. They cancelled with 3 hours notice. I tried again. They canceled with 18 minutes notice. I already left my house and was on the way. If I had cancelled I would have had to pay a cancellation fee… There are no consequences for Spa Jema.. BOOK WITH CAUTION!!!

At the Awareness & Wellness Center of PGH in Shadyside, you can indulge in a rejuvenating AWC Sound Healing session led by Monique Mead, a renowned classical violinist and music professor. Through her expertise with the violin and healing instruments like singing bowls, she guides participants on a tranquil journey during these luxurious sound baths. Visitors have described their experiences as sublime and deeply meditative, praising Monique's artistry and sensitivity in creating an unparalleled atmosphere for relaxation and wellness.
Monique Mead is an extraordinary sound healer and teacher. Her deep understanding of music and its impact on the human experience is truly remarkable. As I began my journey into sound healing, Monique’s guidance in playing the sound bowls was invaluable. She not only taught me techniques but also helped me develop a deeper connection to the healing power of sound. What sets Monique apart is her ability to make complex musical concepts accessible through visual cues and intuitive teaching methods. Her passion for music and her generous spirit shine through in every lesson, creating an inspiring and supportive learning environment. Thanks to Monique’s wisdom and encouragement, I’ve gained the confidence to grow my own sound healing practice. I’m incredibly grateful for her knowledge, mentorship, and unwavering support. If you’re looking for a teacher who truly understands the transformative power of sound, I cannot recommend Monique highly enough!
Marti S — Google review
I've experienced Monique's sound bath and sound healing trainings both at her studio in Shadyside and at Forest & Flowers Retreat. She generously shares her wisdom and depth of experience with outstanding teaching abilities. It's a true gift to be in her presence, receiving, and learning.
Jenni H — Google review
My close friend introduced me to my first sound bath with Monique over a year ago and I will be forever grateful! It was such a cleansing, healing experience that I keep going back, again and again. The classic sound baths offer a good break to de-stress from my day to day life. Deep Dive, Full Moon and Reiki give me a deeper, more profound healing experience. I also love the seasonal events like Hygge and Mega events because they give all of the benefits of the other sound baths with the opportunity to enjoy the festivitities of the season or a new space and give an opportunity to meet a wonderful group of people. I can feel the positive impact for several days to a week after reducing my stress overall stress levels and the more I go the better my results. My overall baseline stress has reduced significantly. I highly recommend Monique's sound baths that also incorporate her beautifully played violin in a very cozy, well curated space.
Maria C — Google review
I truly loved my experience with Monique's sound bath. I have gone now several times, one was a private session with a small group of friends, and another after a long day at work. Both times I felt recharged and a renewed sense of calm. Monique's music was the highlight of my experience. Go ahead and treat yourself to a session. Would highly recommend.
Czarina K — Google review
What stood out most about Monique Mead’s Sound Practitioner Training is how immediately usable and empowering it was. She has a gift for blending artistry, neuroscience, and trauma-aware teaching in a way that feels both inspiring and easy to apply. We explored instruments, sequencing, language, and accessibility—with plenty of hands-on practice and supportive feedback. You don’t need a musical background to succeed. Monique makes everything clear and accessible, while bringing the depth of her musicianship into every lesson. I originally thought I’d only take Level 1, but the experience was so valuable that I couldn’t wait to continue on to Level 2. I left feeling confident and excited to weave sound into my own work—whether that’s massage therapy, yoga classes, or stand-alone sound baths. Highly recommend to anyone serious about bringing sound into their practice.
Anita A — Google review
The cave sound bath at Laurel Caverns was truly one of the most unforgettable experiences I’ve had in Pittsburgh! Being inside a natural cave surrounded by candlelight, while immersed in the mesmerizing sounds of crystal singing bowls, drums, chimes, violin, and harp, was absolutely magical. I’ve never experienced sound and silence in such a powerful, heartfelt way. The cave itself is a wonder, an absolute must-see, feel, and explore. The combination of nature, sounds, vibrations, and energy created something beyond words. And I can’t even get started on the delicious food, just the cherry on top of an already incredible experience. I’m already looking forward to the next one. Thank you for such a unique, out-of-this-world experience!!
Paulina V — Google review
We recently had private event sound bath at AWC hosted by Monique, who is a concert violinist as well! It was everyone’s first time experiencing a sound bath - Monique first guided us through music-making and then we went into an amazing meditative state while Monique played the bowls (plus some violin at the end)! I was personally the most relaxed, clear-headed, and mentally calm I’ve been in a long time afterwards - it was profound. Highly recommend this experience, and any sound bath with Monique in the future!
Sisi L — Google review
If you are looking for a relaxing, mediative, pleasant experience to de-stress and take you away from the everyday "noise", then you have to meet Monique Mead and experience a Sound Bath session with her. She is truly amazing- Aside from being an extremely talented musician, her spirit and positive energy are incredible and it transfers onto everyone around her. I have had the pleasure of taking a group session as well as booking a private event - It is such a great way to bring your friends together for an experience that they will never forget - (and will probably go back for a group session too!) Highly recommend!!

De Fer Coffee & Tea is a trendy cafe located in the Strip District of Pittsburgh, offering an industrial-style ambiance and outdoor seating. The cafe is known for roasting its own coffee beans and serving a variety of espresso-based drinks, pour-over coffees, teas, and specialty beverages like maple cortado and matcha latte. In addition to their beverage selection, they also offer craft beers, casual wines, classic cocktails, and a range of freshly baked pastries from La Gourmandine.
Went to De Fer on Saturday at 2 PM since it’s one of the few coffee shops open until 9 PM. Located in the heart of the Strip District, right in front of the new Terminal, it has a unique and spacious layout. Parking can be tricky depending on how busy it is. Their lattes were perfectly sweet, and the everything bagel was a great snack! The vibe was ideal for both working (good internet) and catching up with a friend. I also loved browsing their local goods—coffee, wine, cheese, meats, and beautiful artwork!
Joud M — Google review
One of my favorite places on the Strip! The atmosphere is so nice here, with lots of indoor and outdoor seating and lovely decor! I especially love their seasonal drinks, especially their brown sugar cinnamon cold brew, the cold foam is so perfect and airy, one of the best I’ve had! All their baked goods are great too, but the Korean Pork hand pie is top tier, also their breakfast sandwiches on English muffins are popular for a real good reason. Definitely a great place to hang out and chat or get some work done, or enjoy a little sunshine with a great drink and snack!

Yes yes YES to this place. Y’all their Sweet Potato Chickpea Curry Hand Pie had me in a chokehold. Salty, warm, sweet, savoury, vegan. YUM. I literally ordered 2 and then came back another day to buy one more. The drinks are always yummy. I tried 2 of their seasonal drinks: the Cinnamon Apple Shrub, which was tasted like an earthy, spritzy, refreshing apple cider, and the Ginger Tumeric Fog, which was giving fall comfort realness. The staff were all extremely friendly, outgoing and helpful when I was asking what’s the best to try. Lots of seating options and even have outdoor seating and an upper level with seating that has a nice Birds Eye view of the cafe. Loved loved loved this spot and would order one of those sweet potato hand pies every Day.
Hailey L — Google review
Stopped here with my wife to get some iced coffee and I will say the atmosphere is really fun inside and they have a lot of options in terms of drinks beyond just coffee. The have a pretty wide selection of alcoholic drinks if you are into that sort of stuff as well as some food options. The prices for coffees are right around the same level as Starbucks and the food is about the same quality too, all pre-made stuff. Alcoholic drink prices seem high but I haven't bought an alcoholic drink in 10 years so maybe thats the going price for this area. In terms of the coffee I got one of their signature iced coffees, it was supposed to be honey and one other thing, can't remember the other thing but the coffee really didn't have any flavor beyond plain old coffee, it was also not sweet even with honey it was supposed to come with. Overall it was pretty basic iced coffee that didn't really stand out to me as anything special, they did put a lot of effort into the hot coffees I saw other people getting so maybe thats where this place shines, if you looking for a place for iced coffee this is run of the mills and nothing special.
Mr. E — Google review
I went here twice this weekend. The first time was absolutely amazing! Delicious coffee, amazing oatmeal cream pie, and an English muffin that made my whole day. It was a chaotic experience - they didn’t make one of my drinks until I asked about it. It was easy to overlook given that I had a fabulous aside from that. The second experience couldn’t have been further from the same. I only ordered 2 of the same drink what I received was not at all what I ordered. I have a dietary restriction that limits the amount of caffeine that I can have, therefore I always order decaf, which I did today as well. I received two caffeinated lattes without any flavor to them at all (again, not how they were ordered). The person taking orders was new, and read my order to me as I had given it to her. The line appeared to be chaotic. And I didn’t try the drinks until after I left so there was nothing that could be done. I always try to support local business when I travel and based on the first experience I had, they had made a customer and supporter for life. But as I lay in bed wide awake, 3 hours after my bedtime I am sad to say that I won’t be adding this to the list of places I want to come back to.

I got a dirty chai and a citrus basil shrub sparkler. Excellent customer service. Pleasant atmosphere. Unfortunately, the chai was terrible. Despite the odd name, the citus bas.il sparkler was pretty good. Its definitely on the higher end of the price point for these type of items and in the case of the chai, not worth it.

Mi Empanada is a new Argentinian catering and pop-up business in Pittsburgh, known for their delicious homemade empanadas. You can find them at various locations such as breweries, bars, and coffee shops by following their Instagram. They also have a regular spot at Tinas bar in Bloomfield every Thursday in July.
Tasty, tasty, tasty is all I can say!!! We will come back here again for their addictive Argentine's chili and their various empanadas (roasted lambs: yummy. spinach: yummy. no complaints here) 😌

I had the Argentine Chili LOCRO! This savory dish is a fave delicious and super mild kick with slow roasted heavenly morsels. So very good.
Bia H — Google review
Had to do a service call at the bank across the street so I had to park in between this joint and the bank. Already paid for parking and didn’t wanna move because of how busy the area is. This place got the pick because I literally was Parked outside!! HOLY SHIT! (Can I say that)???? These were absolutely incredible, I got the chicken, brisket and chorizo. The brisket with jalapeños dipped in the spicy chili sauce is hard to describe…. HOT!! But I couldn’t get enough… The young lady at the counter knew I was going to like them because she had so much confidence in their product. I only regret not getting one of their sandwiches or their desert empanadas!! This is a MUST STOP!!!
Jeff F — Google review
Food was delicious! I visited when I was having a low blood sugar episode, and the empanadas hit the spot! I got three different vegan options, and all were delicious + spicy carrot sauce. Totally new experience with the sauce, but it's great! I also snagged a tasty vegan cookie and some rice to take home. The rice was very good, delicious Spanish seasoning. My cookie was horchata flavored, which is not a flavor I have often. I really liked that they have a selection of foods made the previous days for cheaper. Also, it's super great how late they are open. I will be back for more!

Argentine fast casual take out specializing in fresh empanadas filled with meat or vegan ingredients. My favorites were the lamb, sweet potato and black bean, and spinach empanadas. Can purchase a dozen empanadas frozen to cook at your leisure. Don’t forget dessert. The chocolate alfajor is delicious!! Definitely a winner in South American cuisine!
Arlene M — Google review
I was looking for a high carb Latin American/Argentinian dinner before a race, so Mi Empanada intrigued me. I tried the beef empanada, chicken empanada, peaches and cream empanada, polenta, Spanish rice, and a meringue alfajor. Everything was very tasty. I have to say the flavor of the food is improved by 2 or 3 fold if you microwave it after getting pickup. The beef empanada also has some pancetta and olives. It was juicy and flavorful. It goes very well with side dipping sauce, which is oily, garlicky, and full of herbs. The chicken empanada was also pretty good. The meat is tender and seasoned well. It's not too fatty nor too tough. The peaches and cream empanadas are so heavenly when heated. Peaches are fresh and vibrant. The cream is sweet and delicate, just incredible. Easily my favorite part of the meal. All the empanadas have a flaky shell that is a bit thick. It's quite different from the Venezuelan empanadas I have tried, but still great. The empanadas from Mi Empanada are more expensive for the portion but they are very tasty. Their sides are also great and the portions are quite good for the price. I'd recommend the polenta over the Spanish rice, since the latter is a bit blander. The polenta is buttery and rich, so you can't taste the grains. Their tomato sauce is excellent and flavorful. The rice is definitely better than any store bought option. Some tomatoes, peppers, and seasoning, but still pretty standard. I really enjoyed their imported alfajor. It's quite large for $3, and the dulce de leche inside is on point! So good. All in all, I would definitely recommend trying this place out. They have some unique imports, delicious empanadas, and pretty good sides. Portions might be a bit small for the empanadas, but the flavors make them worth the price.

Incredible empanadas! Perfect for lunch or a light dinner! I highly recommend the beef chorizo (pork free) which is a unique joy for someone who doesn’t eat pork.
Michael N — Google review
Loved the empanadas here. The real joy of it is in the balance of flaky crust and flavor and I think they did that so well! I tried the onion fugachetta and it had an amazing crust and delicious filling. The onions were jammy and a bit on the sweet side. It deserved a 4/5. The star of the show was spinach empanada and it was perfectly flavored and spiced. It deserved 7/5. I had two and felt filled!

The focus is on modern and contemporary styles with the use of the latest technology in kitchen and bath remodels. Customers have praised their stylist Monica for her amazing service, welcoming attitude, and ability to select beautiful dresses based on vague ideas. Another customer had a wonderful experience with stylist Lauren who provided a personal and attentive shopping experience.
I had the most amazing experience at Luxe Redux Bridal in Pittsburgh! I had my eye on a dress from a different bridal shop since October and truly thought I was going to purchase it—until Jacquelyn stepped in and found the dress of my dreams. From the moment I put it on, it fit like a glove, and I’ve never felt more beautiful in my life. (I literally didn’t want to take it off) Jacquelyn was an absolute gem—her attention to detail and ability to pick pieces that perfectly matched my vision were unmatched. She was so thoughtful, attentive, and genuinely made me feel special throughout the entire appointment. She also helped me find the perfect veil and earrings, completing my look all in one visit!! The entire staff was so sweet, welcoming, and genuinely invested in making sure I had the best experience possible. You could tell they truly care about helping brides find the dress of their dreams. The prices were super affordable, and I left feeling confident, excited, and beyond happy with my decision. If you’re a bride-to-be, I couldn’t recommend Luxe Redux more highly. They truly made finding my wedding dress one of the most special and memorable moments of my wedding journey!
Bethany H — Google review
I had the most amazing experience at Luxe Redux! Jacquelyn truly made the experience magical from start to finish. It is quite evident that she is passionate about her job and she is fantastic at it. She picked me a wide variety of dresses to start and quickly helped me narrow down what I was loving. I was stuck between 2 dresses at the end and Jacquelyn helped accessorize both dresses and it really helped me decide. The way she was having me envision both dresses on my wedding day brought happy tears to the entire room. Jacquelyn was so sweet, easy to talk to, & made me feel so comfortable from start to finish. I could not recommend Jacquelyn & Luxe Redux enough! It was the most perfect day I will remember forever!
Bailey H — Google review
Luxe Redux is the place to go! From the moment I stepped foot in the door it was such a great experience. I worked with Jacquelyn who was phenomenal! She curated the perfect selection of dresses for me to try on and helped me find the one. She was smiling and professional and beyond knowledgeable of all things wedding dresses. You can tell she loves her job! By the end of my appointment she felt more like a friend. Before coming here I had gone to 3 other places and this one was by far my favorite and gave me the most “bridal” experience. Cannot recommend this place enough!

MS Vision Care offers a warm and caring environment for patients of all ages. The doctor is particularly patient and friendly with kids, ensuring their comfort during the visit. The office provides a nice selection of kids frames, with a suggestion for bendable frames that would be popular. Online scheduling and next day appointments add to the convenience. Patients appreciate the thoroughness of annual eye exams and the detailed explanations provided by Doctor Hunker.
Easy to make an appointment online, parking on location is super easy, facilities at the clinic are great including pre-testing. Dr. Cree was thorough and gave multiple options for test contact lenses and discussed pros/cons of all options. Overall great experience and we've been going here three years now!

As the vision center in a target? This is legitimately the best optical service I've gotten. I wear glasses that are only a handful of months old, and when getting my contact script it was a significant upgrade in visual comfort. The staff is all as sweet as pie and willing to answer any questions or concerns I had and I felt well looked after. 👀 I look forward to returning for my contacts!

Made the experience less stressful than it was and my hand is going in the direction he said it would be. Very thankful an hope to be in less pain along with better functionality

I will never again try to seek mental health services from the Pittsburgh VA ever again. The people working here do not care and if you do not jump thru their hoops they will be vindictive to you. Semper Fi!

Had a referral a month ago. Called community "care" to see what the hold up is. They haven't even looked at it yet. They said they will contact me when they make the appointment. That was 3 days ago. I could of make this appointment MYSELF 4 weeks ago. Typical VA crap. They are too big to care. And I have to have this PT appointment and then do 11 more just to get an MRI of my lower back.

God bless our Veterans!! (SALUTE) My friend was at the VA picking someone up. He said that I didn't have to go in if I didn't want to because it's cold. Omg I'm so grateful that he offered to let me go with him, that I would have walked further to enter. He couldn't believe my excitement, because it is a hospital after all. However, even the cafeteria was exciting!! I said "It's not often that I'll have the opportunity to walk with so many Heroes and not know who they were!!" It was really awesome, briefly seeing how caring, effective and efficient the staff was towards our Veterans. It's amazing to see how beautiful and thoughtfully made the building was from the inside. Some people noticed that I must have been a visitor because I kept looking up. Others knew that look on my face was different.. One man told me how proud he was to be there also. Lol he made my day.

Will let you die in the ER waiting area with chest pains and seizures and then send you home with the advice “try to get neurologist appt earlier than almost 2 months out”. Can’t breathe coughing so bad, nothing. Throat and neck pain, didn’t even examine nor even touch. My PRIMARY WITH THE VA TOLD ME TO GO TO THE ER. For me to be dismissed and treated like dirt on the bottom of their shoe. I will die before the VA addresses my CHEST PAINS AND SEIZURES. What a piece of crap place. If you value your life, drive two hours to Cleveland.

I underwent robotic surgery, and though there were certainly fears, the surgeon and staff pulled me through just fine. I'm in minimal pain, and received excellent care. As a person well versed in medicine, I found the staff and technology up to par. I would like to see the hospital improve its menu selection to more properly accommodate those with food allergies and food preferences, including vegan and gluten-free. I would like to see more meat-free substitutes because this is an important change to lifestyle which emphasizes better health and preventive maintenance. There's a big facility here, no doubt. But Pittsburgh VAMC stands for quality, and I am proud to put a five-star rating on their site.

J. Francis Company, LLC is a Pittsburgh-based design-build contractor specializing in kitchen, bathroom, and basement remodeling as well as exterior living and whole house remodels. With over 35 years of experience, the company has established itself as a leader in the industry. Affiliated with organizations such as NKBA and NARI, J. Francis Company emphasizes quality workmanship and customer satisfaction. The team is known for its creativity, innovation, integrity, and commitment to delivering exceptional design-build experiences to clients.
I have been working with J Francis Company and am in the final planning phase of a complete renovation of my kitchen, laundry, and primary bath and closet. What has impressed me most about the J Francis professionals is the high level of detailed communication. We have had weekly in-person or virtual meetings, which are always followed up with written meeting notes to confirm our decisions and correct anything if needed. This keeps the project moving forward. They are resourceful in providing great options for finishes for me to choose from and have quickly learned my style and vision for my home. I truly appreciate that they are generously open to incorporating my preferences and my own finds, or suggesting something even better. They understand and respect the architectural style of the house, and my desire to balance modern functional updates while maintaining the timeless look of the house. In the midst of this planning phase there was a design staff change and the transition was nearly seamless. I have experienced renovations in 3 other homes, and so far, this has been the best experience, starting with the day the company owner came for the first visit to discuss the project, to today when I am ready to sign on the dotted and go into production. I have every reason to believe that their professionalism will continue through construction to the finished renovation.

ABSOLUTELY AMAZING. J Francis renovated our horrible 80’s bathroom. It is now a lightly mid century modern to go with the rest of our house. They do beautiful work. They understand architecture and do custom wood work. Timely. On budget. Whole process felt great. Cannot recommend them highly enough. Our new favorite room in the house!
Aimee L — Google review
We thoroughly enjoyed working with J. Francis on our exterior renovation. They were very professional every step of the way. From the initial visit with the owner to all the workers that came to our home, everyone took pride in their work and it shows in the final result.

J. Francis is the General Contractor I call when I need advice or restoration work. I've known them to be honest and their workmanship is beyond expectations. I'm impressed that the owner of the company is the individual who makes the original contact and their staff is on top of the project, including immaculate clean up. I highly recommend this company and have referred them often to friends and family.

We have done over 5 projects with the team at J. Francis that include some large ones like updating a kitchen, a gorgeous master closet room , and a Victorian porch on our historical home. They are knowledgeable , very high quality but most importantly, in my book, accountable and reliable. The engineers and carpenters are first class and I trust them in my home to make the right decisions. They are one of the most professional contractors and companies that we have worked with on any of our homes. I wouldn’t hesitate for one second to hire them for your job.
Lisa F — Google review
If you are interested in a home renovation, look no further than J Francis Company. We just completed our whole home gut renovation and the results are outstanding. Our home was 100 years old and needed major updates including entire home rewiring, structural beams and supports in the basement, new roof, all new flooring, gut renovation of kitchen, 2.5 bathrooms and laundry room. The quality of the work completed by the designer, project manager, carpenters and subcontractors is the best in the area. When we started searching for our contractor we knew we wanted a design/build company and one with extensive experience renovating old homes. These projects require experience, craftsmanship, and planning to make sure the project stays on budget and with the least amount of surprises you can hope for.  J Francis was the first on our list to interview about seven design/build firms in the city. After interviewing the prospective candidates for the job, we knew we wanted J Francis and never looked back. We will only work with them in the future. Every time we would talk to someone about our experience, we had only positive things to say, which is very difficult to say nowadays. Over the past year and a half, the communication with the team has been incredible. The overall time frame was spot on. We were never in the dark or didn't know what the next step was or how long it would take. This is as professional a company as you can get. We truly believe you get what you pay for. All home renovations are expensive, even more so post-pandemic. Yes they are expensive, but of all the design/build firms in the area, they were all within ~5% of each other for prospective cost. You will save money, time and effort working with J Francis from the get go. Thank you J Francis for all your hard work breathing life into our century old home. We look forward to working with you again!
Howe S — Google review
We had our 20+ year old deck replaced with a covered living area and a pergola. J Francis provided a complete solution from design through build-out. They were very easy to work with throughout the process and their craftsmanship, professionalism and overall approach was first-rate. I highly recommend J Francis.
Greg A — Google review
Upon retirement my husband and I decided to move back to PA into my 66 year old family home. We lived in the house for 2 years and interviewed many contractors for a whole house remodel. We became very disillusioned and frustrated. I continued my research and found J. Francis Co. You know the old adage "you get what you pay for". This was so true with this company. We thought the cost was high but after working with them for 3 months we couldn't have spent our money more wisely. This company is superb from the office staff to the construction crews. The work is beautiful and top quality. The time spent with us before the project started was unbelievable! No construction nightmares, no surprises and completed ahead of schedule. They were here Monday-Friday until the job was complete. So respectful of our property and our neighbors. As in life not everything was perfect but they came back right away and made it perfect!! I thought we will never see them again. I was so wrong. They even do a 6 month review and a year review to cover their warranty. Do yourself a favor and forget the headaches of a remodel and hire this amazing J. Francis. We promise you will not be sorry!!

Customers have praised the team's efficiency and friendly demeanor when building outdoor barrel saunas. John's dedication to his work is evident in his attention to detail and commitment to providing excellent service.
Wow! We had the amazing experience of enjoying the Warm Timber portable sauna during a recent stretch of cold weather and it was simply awesome. Matt is the best - kind, professional and knowledgable. He dropped it off, showed us the basics, and we were enjoying a wood-fired sauna soon after! I highly recommend Warm Timber - they'll be at the top of my list if I'm lucky enough to build a more permanent setup.

I got a custom build and I use it daily. The team was considerate of our home, and built an awesome sauna for us! I would highly recommend if you are looking for something custom. I showed them where I wanted it, and they took care of everything—design, framing, and installation. Thanks, Warm Timber!

John is excellent to work with and is very passionate about his work. He listened very carefully to what we were looking for and provided us with a custom design like we requested. Then offered suggestions on how to save significant money on materials while still accomplishing what we needed. He provided us with a start date which he met exactly. This sauna was part of a complete basement remodel and John worked very well with the general contractor. The quality of work, appearance of the sauna and its top temperature all exceeded our expectations. I would recommend Warm Timber to anyone looking for a sauna in their home.

My wife and I had a dream of putting a sauna in our fully finished basement. John went above and beyond throughout the design process all the way to the completion of the project. John was never more than a phone call away providing updates frequently, even amidst the covid supply chain shortages. He coordinated subcontractors for our stone work, and took responsibility for the work as if it were his own. The special request of a back-lit Himalayan salt wall was no issue for Warm Timber. We couldn't be happier with the sauna we received, and we highly recommend John and Warm Timer Saunas to all of our family and friends.

I am so incredibly disappointed and honestly angry with my experience at Sneha. I booked a cold plunge sauna session for me and my husband. The facilities are lovely and we enjoyed the cold plunge/sauna experience however I have NEVER been spoken to so rudely by one of the practitioners. When we were led to our room the woman at the front desk voiced the walls are thin so to keep noise level down. Understandable. It was not harped on beyond that sentence. The words “whisper” or “no talking” were never used. I feel we were mindful of this and spoke at a quiet conversational level which I never in a MILLION YEARS thought was inappropriate or forbidden. We are both grown adults who were seeking a meditative wellness experience. We were not there to act silly or mess around. After the session a woman with long grey hair approached us and voiced “I need to speak with you” she pulled us into the hallway and proceeded to scold us for our voice level. She voiced she could hear “every scream and conversation.” I am unsure what she meant by screaming as we are grown adults and do not “scream” in public places. I will fully admit we engaged in conversation intermittently through the session all of which was at a quiet conversational level or below. The woman voiced “if you ever want to return you can not act in the same way as it is extremely problematic.” (If we want to talk about problematic let’s talk about the dreamcatchers sold at the front of the store). The woman continued to SCOLD us and voice that the space was an absolute quiet zone. I can not express to you how absolutely SHOCKED I was by this disrespectful and condescending interaction. We are respectable adults who understand and follow rules of various spaces. The way this situation was handled, to ambush us as we were leaving, felt so disrespectful. We left the space and I ended up returning to speak to the woman at the front desk as I felt I could not let this go (apparently I still can’t as I’m writing this review). The woman at the front desk was kind and voiced they are navigating how to handle noise in the space and the woman’s reaction was probably due to a build of frustration. Fair enough, I understand that, however PLEASE in the future handle this internally and not on paying customers. I would recommend using language such as “the cold plunge and sauna space is a no talking zone, if you need to communicate please do so minimally and at an absolute whisper.” To not be fully informed of this and then accosted for it absolutely ruined the experience.

This place is very nice! We are super lucky to have this sauna studio in Pittsburgh. I’ve traveled around the world and have been to a lot of wellness/ spa places, it’s my favorite downtime me moment when I’m on the road I like to find steam rooms & saunas . Once I found Aura in Pittsburgh it was a game changer. I hadn’t had much to pick from for steam or sauna until Aura. Aura is the best, Sometimes you go to melt out all the toxins out of life and sometimes you go to have a private space that’s like a warm hug in silence (or your choice of music). Light therapy sauna is where it’s at. Typically at a sauna you would be subjected to whatever heat the room is set at and possibly 12 other strangers with you. At aura you have your own private space & can also choose your own temp. This isn’t a regular sauna experience (at least for me), it’s light therapy sauna!! You choose what color light to sit in. Each color is a different benefit and is explained on a diagram in your sauna room. Very cool.

I wish I could put into words how much I love it here! The staff is so kind and welcoming. It feels shut off from the world despite being in the hectic Strip District. The spas are always clean, smell amazing, and feel very private. I take a book, put on some light music, and just shut myself off from the world. I got my boyfriend addicted as well and plan to get gift certificates for loved ones for Mother’s Day, birthdays, etc.

Such an amazing, tranquil place to unwind and relax. The privacy and ambiance are so comforting! They also have great everyday products and retail to shop. Highly recommend.

One of the best saunas I’ve ever been in my entire life. Not too hot. You can last the whole time. Front desk staff was incredible and very informative. Highly recommend. I feel euphoric right now.
Mbrunetti88 — Google review
This is a small business owned by a mother and daughter duo. I’ve been trying to invest more into taking care of myself this year and I’m glad that I found Aura Sauna. The place is really clean and contains calm vibe despite the business of the Strip District. Freshly cleaned towels were provided. I also love the eucalyptus towel after the sauna session. If you want to splurge on something before the end of this year, I would recommend this place!
Tanrak P — Google review
This was my first time at Aura Sauna and it was an amazing experience. The entire staff and owners were extremely kind and welcoming. I wanted to try an infrared sauna because I pulled a muscle in my lower back and after my 45 min session the pain was gone. Not only was the pain gone but I felt great mentally as well. I cannot wait for my next session. Highly recommend!
Benna O — Google review
This studio space is incredible, and my skin feels amazing after a session! The benefits to my body and mind are amazing - it's a perfect oasis of self-care in a stunning setting. The staff/owners are very friendly and will help you feel comfortable. I'm so glad they are in the Strip, convenient for me to pop in for a little slice of heaven whenever my body needs it.
Ashley K — Google review
I love this place!! They are very affordable and it's a great way to do some self care for yourself. I love reading, stretching, or meditating in the sauna and it definitely makes me feel rejuvenated and refreshed. Also the cool towel after your session is a nice touch. Highly recommend!

Kitchen remodeler
Jacob Evans Kitchen & Bath, established in 2008, has earned a reputation as one of the premier kitchen and bath remodelers in Pittsburgh. The company's expert designers engage in thorough communication with clients to create comprehensive kitchen designs that meet and exceed expectations. Clients have expressed their satisfaction with the stunning living spaces produced by Jacob Evans, praising the professionalism and knowledge of the team members.
We could not be more pleased with the professional and high quality services we received from Jacob Evans throughout our kitchen renovation and redesign process. Mike and Jen were responsive and timely in all of their dealings, and their attention to detail could not be matched. Their creative ideas and designs fit perfectly within our home. Jacob Evans collaborated with an amazing contractor to ensure the job was completed consistent with their high standards. There was a team approach to the entire process, with a clear plan laid out from start to finish. It truly was a pleasure working with Mike and Jen, and I would highly recommend them to anyone considering any home renovation and redesign project.

We completed an entire first-floor renovation inclusive of kitchen, living, dining, and office space with Jacob Evans. Mike & Morgan owned the process from start to finish and brought our vision to life with complementary suggestions and helpful design changes. We were in close communication with them via email, phone, and many in-person meetings at our home and their showroom. Early round renders really helped us envision the space and make key selections and decisions. This was not a small job as it was a full gut of the space, inclusive of wall removals, and took a full four months. Our contractor Eric (recommended by Jacob Evans) made several site visits as well. He was thoughtful with the schedule, accounting for our lives as a busy family of five as best he could. The work was efficient each day and they always cleaned up as best they could. For a job of this size, we did have some miscommunication but both Mike and Eric were absolute pros and took care of everything. If you are starting at square one like we were and don’t know where to start, call Mike at Jacob Evans – he and his team will take the time to meet you, discuss your project and budget, and you won’t feel any ‘salesy’ pressure. Absolute pros. Highly recommended and will probably use them again!

I meant to write this review earlier; however, I think I spent all weekend admiring my new kitchen and showing it off to family and friends. Having an older home with a small kitchen and no real room or budget to expand didn’t prove to be much of a problem at all for designer Amanda Johnson from Jacob Evans Kitchen & Bath. She took a small space and made it seem larger and more functional. I can’t thank Amanda enough for all of her assistance. She simplified the process and eliminated searching on an on for materials that fit my vision. In fact, she took that vision and enhanced it beyond my dreams of what my space could accommodate. Amanda was always available to answer my questions and reassure me of my selections. We met with her numerous times throughout the project. The construction of the kitchen is superior. Tim is meticulous in his work and it truly shows. Tim is very professional and takes a lot of pride in what he does- and that is a huge benefit to his clients. He is very detail oriented. From beginning to end, Amanda was there every step of the way. From our first meeting, there was a comfort and confidence in her knowledge. I would definitely recommend Amanda for any kitchen or bath projects. I have to admit, this far exceeded my expectations in what could be done to a small space. I am forever grateful to Amanda Johnson, Tim Murphy and Jacob Evans Kitchen & Bath. P.S. The pictures don't do it justice! Thank you, Julie Overand

Jacob Evans (JE) did a great job remodeling our bathroom. The project included complete demolition down to the wall studs and rebuild. We started with our own basic ideas for reflecting the 1935 craftsman style of the house. Michael Bonato and Morgan Brown took our concept and brought it to life with great design recommendations that fit our thoughts. One of the many highlights was a custom designed vanity that gave our narrow bathroom a roomy feel. They ordered all materials, arranged for and coordinated the construction by independent contractor Tim Murphy (Murphy Brothers Remodeling). Tim and JE started and finished the job as scheduled. Jacob Evans delivered a beautiful product as promised. We’re tickled. Highly recommended.

We absolutely loved working with Mike on designing our bedroom wardrobe cabinets and bathroom vanity. The custom cabinets are gorgeous and are the showpiece in the room. Worth every penny! We are so happy with our experience!

A few years ago we utilized Jacob Evans to help us with a kitchen remodel for our home. They made the process so easy for us and we love the result. We are now working with them to help out with a bathroom remodel and plan to use them in the future for additional projects. They are so easy to work with and we are so happy with our choice to utilize Jacob Evans
Jason R — Google review
We are so beyond happy with our experience with Jacob Evans for our recent kitchen/first floor renovation! From start to finish, Jacob Evans (particularly Bethany and Mike) made things so much easier and less stressful for us, from helping us find the perfect contractor to bringing our vision to life...and later, working through a few hiccups, and even stopping over last minute to help me choose a floor stain, Bethany was an absolute dream to work with!! She's the BEST! She is so poised and calm under pressure and always responds super quickly, making me feel at ease at all times. It was such a relief knowing we had her to bounce ideas off of, and we ultimately used her as the final say on everything from our hood style to floor stain and laundry room wall color, and we are so happy with it all!! We truly could not have done this project without Bethany and Jacob Evans, and I would recommend them to anyone looking to renovate!
Jennifer H — Google review
We are thrilled with our new kitchen and cannot recommend Jacob Evans enough! It was truly a pleasure to work with Michael Bonato on this project. He is the ultimate professional and not only made the project stress-free, but fun too! He is very, very knowledgeable; not only about kitchen cabinets and surfaces, but also helped us greatly with appliance recommendations and even overall construction (which was important since my husband did the installation of our kitchen). Michael went over and above on this project. He went out of his way to track down our hard to find dream-tile, he assisted with light recommendations so that we could find the perfect pendant, and he even unloaded our cabinets himself (when the delivery company unexpectedly stopped unloading trucks prior to our project). Additionally, he was always responsive to any questions that we had, was punctual for appointments, and checked in on the project, personally, several times. I give Michael and Jacob Evans 5 stars all the way! You won't be disappointed if you use this company.

Visitors praise the intentional and welcoming space created by Ryan, emphasizing the cleanliness, organization, and comfort of the facilities. This is one of the best hidden gems in Pittsburgh. The owner(Ryan) has crafted such a beautiful and welcoming space to everyone. He keeps the tubs/saunas clean, and the space magical. If you want to improve your health, and meet new friends, Signal Sauna is the place to be.

If you're looking for a unique and restorative experience, Signal Sauna is a must-try. This pop-up Nordic sauna and cold plunge setup offers both guided sessions and open sessions, as well as options for private bookings and events. During a guided session, you'll be taken through three to four rounds of alternating between the cozy heat of their wood-fired barrel sauna and the invigorating chill of a cold plunge. The experience is elevated with elements of breathwork, meditation, and intentional conversation — all designed to help you fully drop in and tune into your body and mind. Prefer to go at your own pace? Their open sessions offer a “choose your own adventure” vibe. Flow between the fire and ice as you please, exploring your limits and listening to your body in real time. Turn down the noise, tune into your Signal, and fuel your fire. Signal Sauna was born from a desire to foster genuine connection, relieve stress, and create a space where we can explore our resilient edges. In a world that often pulls us away from ourselves and others, there’s truly nothing like contrast therapy to bring you back to the present moment. Destress. Reset. Recover. Experience the revitalizing benefits of contrast therapy — and feel more alive than ever.

Had a great time Sunday morning at Signal Sauna! I will definitely be back! Cold plunges and saunas were clean. Great community and fun to do in a real organic setting.

I had a fabulous time with our team here. I've done an ice bath once before, but I loved this setup even more. The space is also kept incredibly clean, and you can tell love was put into this business. Thanks for having us, and I'll definitely be back!

My husband and I first found Signal Sauna in October 2024 and it has been SUCH a gift in our lives! We have made great friends there and enjoy the community surrounding the sauna there so much. Ryan has built a very intentional sauna space that is welcoming to all types of people. The facilities are clean, organized, well-maintained, and exceptionally comfortable. As we move into the cooler months, I really recommend that you give Signal Sauna a try. It'll transform your Pittsburgh life and you won't regret it. Thank you for having all of us, Ryan!!

This is such a wonderful spot to relax and rejuvenate. Good people. Two different saunas. One usually a bit hotter and the other more comfortable in temperature and seating style. 4 or 5 plunges. The area is set up nice and cozy. Ryan the host is super hospitable.you can’t beat the price. Across a few different cities this price point is pretty incredible. Great intro 3 sessions for 60 bucks. This is much more communal than the private infrared rooms. Not personally a fan of those and this is is much more my speed and affordability. Very impressed.
Mickey O — Google review
Can’t say enough good things about Ryan and his pop up sauna operation. I’ve been probably a dozen times and each time I go, he has improved the experience. I would not be surprised if his operation eventually gets poached by one of these large new developments where his sauna would activate the outdoor spaces. Lastly and perhaps most importantly, Ryan is very well read and genuinely passionate about sauna. I’ve done a few guided experiences with him. I am noticing a bunch of brick and mortar sauna experiences popping up that we are very well funded, but are likely just trying to capitalize on its popularity.
Justin B — Google review
My favorite spot in the city. Ryan the owner has made a hidden little oasis. The community is really something special. No matter the time if year if you are interested in sauna or cold plunge Signal is the place to go.
