Lake
Nestled within the scenic Fish Creek Provincial Park, Sikome Lake is a delightful man-made oasis that offers a perfect escape for families and sun-seekers alike. This popular swimming destination features a beautiful sandy beach where visitors can relax and soak up the sun. With well-maintained facilities including showers, picnic tables, change rooms, and even a playground for the little ones, Sikome Lake ensures an enjoyable day out.
Sikome lake is a serene and beautiful place for relaxation and fun. It features beautiful playgrounds for kids, a lake you can swim in, open field have picnic and play fun games. There's a very large washroom and changing room that is neat with running hot water and cold water. There's a large canopy to provide shade and trees also that provide shade.
Naylow — Google review
It is summertime and my go-to place with my dogs for a swim n walks. Have spots for BBQ, hikes, and bicycle rides. Dogs on leash and people very polite/friendly and dogs well behaved. Also a gold course across and people also fish here
Joan M — Google review
The best decision on a hot day was to go to the lake with the children after lunch. The lake is not deep. Lifeguards carefully monitor the swimmers. There are trees, you can hide from the sun. There is a changing room, toilets, the territory is clean.
Vita O — Google review
People with no manners display their own loud boom box music. No control on it. You cannot enjoy the calm environment that a family friendly place should provide. Also disrespectful and nature unconsidered person parked on the grass ruining it, as well.
WAM B — Google review
Situated in the monumental 1,355.56-hectare Fish Creek Provincial Park, surrounded by fence and spread into 40-hectare area, Sikome Lake, is a manmade aquatic facility that is popular among Calgarians. The 2.1-meter-deep lake receives its water supply from three fresh water wells. The seasonal lake is open to the public only for a little over two months from June end to the first week of September. It is thronged by thousands of visitors on weekends. Besides the lake with colossal sandy beaches and grassy areas, the beautiful place has a lot more to offer. There are children’s playgrounds and designated picnic areas with firepits, a food outlet, and washrooms. The parking area is unbelievably enormous which is spacious enough to park innumerable number of vehicles, for free. The entry fee of just $10.00 for a family of 2 plus 4 children is as good as nothing compared to the exhilaration that you get at this amazing picnic spot that is full of various aquatic and terrestrial activities for all people, irrespective of their age, gender, or interest. A must visit place for Calgarians in the natural environment of the Fish Creek Provincial Park.
Bharat S — Google review
The lake is closed for the season and there is no information about it anywhere, if you don't open in early summer, put an announcement about it, or add a review about it, so that no one drives 40 minutes across Calgary to you. kissed the fence and left.
Ann D — Google review
I took 5 kids there on Tuesday and the kids all came out in Swimmers itch, cried and itched for about 3 hours, gave them allergy medicine and a bath in baking soda and the itch wasn't so intense, but definitely think twice about going there. However, we have been a few times every year for about the last 5 years and never experienced this, I really hope management can clean out the lake a few more times a year, so others don't experience this.
Chloe H — Google review
First time here, felt a little weird to pay to go to a lake but then I realized why, beautiful sand beach surround the lake. Plus it is man made so it is cleaner than typical lakes. The prices are not bad. $8 for an adult and family was $18 I believe. Free life jackets to borrow for the little and non swimmers. Great escape in the city.

Hiking Trails
Edworthy Park is a serene natural oasis located along the Bow River in Calgary. It offers various amenities such as trails, fire pits, BBQ areas, playgrounds, and off-leash dog zones. The park is home to the famous Douglas Fir Trail, a 2.5 km path that winds through dense woods and showcases impressive Douglas-fir trees and diverse wildlife.
Is your dog wound up and in need of some exercise? Edworthy Park is the perfect spot to let em unwind! It’s my go-to off-leash dog walking destination in the city. The people are friendly, the dogs are happy, and the views are stunning. At times, it feels like you’re miles away from the city, especially on the east side of the park among the trees. You can park in the first lot as you enter and enjoy pathways that extend all the way to the third parking lot. If you prefer not to stick to pathways, the main area usually has plenty of dogs for yours to socialize with. The only drawback? There are no washrooms! So if nature calls, just remember: it’s not just your dog that might need to answer!
Ryan S — Google review
It's a huge park, but the area our GPS took us seemed like it took forever/ was convoluted. Lots of open space. We seemed to be at the off leash dog park, which was fine because we love dogs. But we didn't have our furry friend with us at the time. Lots of paths and such. No paved areas. There were several benches in one area to have a rest. Beautiful view of parts of the city, especially with fall colour's.
Emmy — Google review
Very nice place to visit, relax, take a walk, hike, bike or go with a group have picnics, barbecues and have a superb time. The Bow river flows bordering the park, which is absolutely great to get our feet wet, have a nice dip in hot weather and such. 😊 Very family friendly, must visit atleast once. The place is accessible by transit, has goo connectivity to bike paths and is right next to major roads. Recommend it for sure! 😃
Rakshit B — Google review
Edworthy Park is an enormous picnic place with plenty of open and covered picnic areas, tables, children play grounds, a lot of unending paved and unpaved trails, and huge parking areas on either side of the river that is accessible by an over bridge on foot or by bicycles. In order to park my car on the other side of the river, I had to take a long route; I followed the phone GPS. The popular picnic spot has hygienic, well- maintained washrooms and a cafeteria to cater to the needs of the visitors. A very energetic, exhilarating, and mesmerizing place for people of all ages and kinds.
Bharat S — Google review
Spend splendid time with kids here and we loved the place. However it’s a busy place on weekends and difficult to find car parking slots near the railway crossing area. Peculiarly of the park is there are hills, cycling paths, kids play areas, many trees so we will get enough shades , good for gathering party, one railway line where trains often run, many washrooms, and moreover we can get into the bow river.
Anitha J — Google review
I was really impressed with this park. I have lived in Calgary for about 25 years but never came to this park for some reason. It's right on the Bow River, has lots of picnic sites and there are fields to play sports in. I hiked the Douglas Fir Trail and it was wonderful. If you go to Edworthy Park, definitely consider trying this trail. Note: it is not an easy hike and not very safe for kids since some parts are fairly steep/slippery. P.S. - Bring bug spray for the warmer months.
RC — Google review
It nice yellowish view during fall. You can park here and ride a bike a long the bow river path to downtown. There are plenty of children playground and picnic area.
Baba J — Google review
Great park offering everything from trails in the woods, paved trails, along the water, children's areas, picnic areas with fire pits. Walking along the south side you can go almost 6km! A great gem in the middle of the city. Highly recommended to check out as all the locals know how great it is.

Historic Walking Areas
Bowness Park, a 74-acre park in Calgary, offers a serene escape with its lagoon, boat rentals, and winter ice skating. The park features mature trees, picnic areas with fire pits and BBQ stands, a boathouse, train rides, a tea house, and two playgrounds. Families can enjoy pathways for exploration and access to the Bow River. The park also includes a wading pool with in-ground spray fountains for kids to splash around in on the pool deck.
An ideal destination for families and couples. You can enjoy a cup of coffee and ski across the expansive area or simply stroll through the park. Additionally, skiing equipment is available for rent, and a free ski helper is provided.
Sveta K — Google review
Bowness Park has always been our favorite Fall spot. It's so beautiful that we keep coming back every year to do our yearly fall photos. It's also a great park during summer as there is a waterpark free for kids. Also, lots of people enjoy the bow river rafting with their own rafts or rental. Some people actually go swimming too, although I'm sure the water will be too cold. Winter is also beautiful as people can ice skate along the park. You can do a walking/biking loop trail from here to Baker Park, which is very easy. You will have to pass a nice bridge that connects the river. Path is open all season. There is also a path at the end (close to the green bridge) going up to the community residential area. People walk or even bike going up there. It is now fully developed. There is a lot of squirrel in the area, which is a treat for the kids. If you need to get drinks, there's a small shop that sells beverages, which is great, especially during the winter season. I love this park as it's very spacious and has a lot to offer. Also summer time if you get lucky, there's a guy that plays music and collects donations for a few charities.
Miss_j — Google review
Went there with family, it was the best! Everyone enjoyed the peaceful bow river. Took a long walk and it was 100% worth it. BUT BRING SUNSCREEN AND BUG SPRAY! There are lots of mosquitoes in the season I went, so be prepared! Raft rental available! We went up a ramp and followed a trail. MUST GO ON THAT WALK! there are stairs too if you prefer. A little park with flowers and cute bear statue too! Brings back memories when I went as a kid!!!
Selin — Google review
Great place to walk around, go for a picnic and BBQ if living in Calgary! There is a boathouse as well at a very reasonable price! You can book your picnic sites by calling 311. During the fall season the views are splendid, you can do fall photography at the best here. There is a cute tiny rail for the toy train as well. Benches, picnic tables are available all around the park. You can also bring your own portable stove and cook at any available picnic table. If you are booking picnic sites then you have your own shed and fire pit to enjoy
Rasgun — Google review
The view there was really mesmerizing and one of the best place to witness sunset near Riverside and also a great place. Can calm your mind and also has a damn scenery in fall.
Dhruv P — Google review
A park where you can experience a splendid summer. Despite recent issues, it's still a beautiful neighborhood. If I lived here, I would be so happy. I should come back for a barbecue later. Walking along the quiet paths, it felt like happiness would stay by my side forever. It's a great place to enjoy the leisure of everyday life. It has a different atmosphere from Bow River.
Summer — Google review
My favourite park in the city tied with Prince's Island! It's very pretty and a great place to come for a picnic, BBQ, with a boat, or just to hangout near the Bow river. I run here and it's always nice to see people having fun and existing. Great place for kids too, as there's plenty of playground areas, and even a little train for them to ride!
Faiz H — Google review
Bowness Park is a delightful oasis in Calgary, offering a blend of natural beauty and recreational amenities. The lagoon is perfect for paddle boating in the summer, and the park's walking paths provide scenic views year-round. With picnic areas, playgrounds, and a charming tea house, it's a fantastic destination for families, nature lovers, and anyone seeking a peaceful day by the water.

The park features amenities such as a playground, dog park, and rafting access for those seeking adventure. Great park. There are several locations where you can cook bbq, big location for kids and pet friendly area. Toilet is present.

Nice area within the city to decompress. Go for a walk by the river, exercise(bicycling or skating on paved trails- connects to the athletic park), family and friends gathering ( day use areas - bbqing and alcohol is allowed) , or just to read a book. There is also a kids' playground and designated off leashe areas. You can also go for a coffee or an ice cream to the Britannia Plaza located uphill on the west side of the river. Lots of options for parking

This is a wonderful place to bring the family for a walk or ride a bike. Beautiful riverside location. It has many picnic sites, bbq stand, fire pits, playgrounds, pathways, seasonal washrooms and water fountain. There are plenty of green space and tall trees. It has off-leash area for dogs to enjoy too. Only four stars because we didn’t expect that the new play ground will get crowded on a Monday morning.

What a beautiful hidden gem of a place! We had picked up some ice cream at Village Ice Cream, and while looking at Google Maps, we spotted this area. We are so happy that we decided to check this place out. There's a nice playground at this park, but that's not the drawing point. You can easily walk onto the Rocky Beach area next to the river. The river is very shallow, so there's no worry about being caught by any currents. People still launch their little rafts and float down the river. It's a great place to bring your family. There's plenty of grassy areas for bbqs and picnics. Kids can frolic in the water or skip some stones. What a wonderful little place in Calgary!
Victor L — Google review
This park was awesome and the scenery was beautiful from every path taken. Excellent for all ages including pets to enjoy the scenery, trails, play ground, picnic areas or the river itself.

What a gorgeous place to spend the day with family and friends! Be sure to bring a towel and change of clothes to enjoy the river with the kids.

This is a very nice place to visit especially in summertime where you bring dog and enjoy the clear water of elbow river. Picnic tables are plenty and some are covered. Playground for children is amazingly wide. River is so clear and good for boating and swimming too. The area is so clean and a lot of trees to rest upon a sunny day.

Nestled in the heart of St. Patricks Island, Trout Beach is a hidden gem that offers a delightful escape from the hustle and bustle of city life. This urban oasis, surrounded by the serene Bow River, features a fantastic wading area perfect for families looking to splash around or simply relax on the rocky shore. Accessible via bike paths from East Village, Calgary Curling Club, or even the Calgary Zoo, it’s an ideal spot for outdoor enthusiasts.
Beautiful little beach, the open river walkway is a fun addition. The beach was a little poopy (thanks geese)but it was still completely usable. The water is calm over on the beach side, so it's nice for families, and it wasn't nearly as busy as I would have expected. Overall, it's a beautiful space. It's a perfect place to go on a hot summer day if you need to cool down!
Courtney T — Google review
Love it here! Only 1 star off because I wish there was more grass less dirt and more seating. There are 2 picnic tables but that's it. I love that the water is shallow and calm for the kids to play in. It was a bit muddy and the water had some decaying leaves but water shoes solve the problem! Perfect place for a picnic and to cool off. The rocks are not that comfy to walk on so bring water shoes for yourself too and a blanket to sit on the rocks or chairs! We'll be back!
Kelsi R — Google review
Fantastic place to take kids on a sunny day, no matter how hot or cold it is! On weekends there are often great events going on, which have always been free. They did a great job bringing back indigenous plants and species to the island after the flood. Lots of animals, including deer to be found. A great design with lots of spots to play, and great picnic food nearby.
Joshua L — Google review
A nice little spot to get into the water. This are us sheltered from the main river so it’s a nice place to go in with younger children. There is also lots of rocks for throwing, picnic tables and shade. Bring water shoes as there is no sand, only rocks. There is also a playground nearby as well as a few cafes within a 10 minute walk.
Ashley W — Google review
Amazing place, with quiet water for the little ones. There is some shade under the trees, there are also some picnic tables. Easy to access from the parking lot in east village. A small space but good for some refreshing water

We walked through the eastern half of the park, and it took a couple of hours. This part of the park consists of prairie landscape and some bushes near the Fish Creek river. It was a little bit monotonous, but we found a few interesting places. It'd be better if you came here with bicycles. I really want to explore more wild west parts of the park.
Artemii P — Google review
I found the variety of landscapes refreshing. There are quiet spots by the river perfect for reflection or even a picnic, and more open areas where you can feel the breeze and soak in the sun. Wildlife is abundant here, making it easy to spot birds, deer, and even the occasional beaver. For me, Fish Creek is more than just a park—it’s a place to relax, reset, and appreciate nature. If you’re in Calgary and looking for an outdoor adventure that doesn’t take you far from the city, this park is a must-visit!
Dondon H — Google review
Fish Creek Park truly has something for everyone. From swimming in the lake the hiking to walking, rollerblading to single track mountain biking. Bring the fam for a picnic and enjoy time at the creek on a warm night while the sun goes down. The facilities are modern and convenient, and access points are plentiful. The is a year round park and some lots close at night. Camping is not permitted. This is a provincial park within the city of Calgary. Lots of wildlife so enjoy and keep your best friends on their leash. Some pliéing in the winter months for bike commuters. A vast park with a bit of everything.

Spending evening in the fish creek neighbourhood is just soothing. No amenities or shops in the area. It has large playgrounds, river bank, pond, scenic beauty and very less crowd m. It’s a nice spot to take an evening walk.
Juhi L — Google review
I have visited the Fish Creek Provincial Park three times in a month time; nevertheless, I have not yet explored it completely, for it is the second largest urban protected natural area in Canada that sprawls in an area of over 13.4 square kms. The enormous park provides picturesque natural scenes of forest area, grassy lands, lots of hills of various heights, creek, ponds, lakes, and over hundred trails and roads. I have yet to explore the southern side of the enormous park where Sikome Lake is situated. I intend to visit the park again to see some wild animals, birds, and the lake, soon. The park has more than 100 km paths of paved and unpaved trails as well as plenty of beaten paths for activities such as walking, jogging, running, cycling, ascending and descending hills, and capturing natural scenes of wildlife's flora and fauna. The creek that gives an impression of a mighty, long river is a prepossessing part of the park. There are some benches to relax and tables to enjoy picnic with your family and/or friends at several places and near the creek. Also, there are clean washrooms at different places in the park and along the creek. Today, for the fourth time, I visited the park. I went to the Sikome Lake which was way more beautiful and bigger than I had thought after seeing some of the pictures. Although there is an entry fee and a weekday, there were hundreds of people on a Wednesday evening. Had I not gone to the lake, I wouldn't have been able to see the extremely beautiful part of the park. Anyone visiting Calgary must add this park in their things to do in the beautiful city.

The park Anniversary Park is a nice place to take a break from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. The cool wind and sunshine are a great way to start the day, and the beautiful Chestermere lake beach is just minutes away.
Anniversary Park is a newly redeveloped recreational area on Lake Chestermere, about 23 km /14 miles east of Calgary. Another great recreational area near the city. I came up from California to visit friends there, and we all went out for a picnic on a beautiful sunny day. It's out on the flats, so it was a bit windy. One person was sail boarding. It's nice and new with good bathroom facilities, a perfect man-made sandy beach, a lakeside walk, picnic tables, and large green spaces all neatly maintained. Anniversary Park memorializes the Canadian Armed Forces. There is no admission charge. Summer activities include motorized and non-motorized boating, picnicking, BBQ, swimming, and fishing. Warm sunny weekends are probably somewhat crowded - check other reviews. We went on a weekday summer afternoon and no crowds. In winter there's skating on a maintained rink area and snowmobiling. The City monitors ice thickness.

**Anniversary Park in Chestermere: A Serene Escape Just Outside the City 🏞️** Escaping the hustle and bustle of urban life, even if only for a day, can be an incredibly refreshing experience. Last weekend, I had the pleasure of visiting Anniversary Park, more commonly known to locals as Chestermere Beach, and it was a day well spent. **Waters that Welcome 🌊** While the beach was teeming with visitors, it did nothing to detract from the beauty and allure of the place. The water, a gentle contrast of pleasant coolness against the summer sun, provided the perfect setting for both relaxation and play. There’s something invigorating about dipping into slightly cold waters, and Chestermere Beach delivered just that. **Rain: An Unexpected Guest 🌧️** Of course, Mother Nature has her plans, and our day was punctuated by a surprise rain shower. Yet, rather than dampening spirits, it added a touch of whimsy to the outing. There's an undeniable charm in watching raindrops dance upon the water's surface and feeling those cool droplets amidst the warmth. **Facilities: Thoughtfully Provided 🚿** One of the commendable aspects of Chestermere Beach is its facilities. Having access to washrooms, especially during day-long outings, is a boon. The added provision of an outdoor shower space is a thoughtful touch, allowing visitors to rinse off the lake water and sand before heading back home or to their next destination. **Cleanliness: A Personal Perspective 🌺** While some might have voiced concerns about the beach's cleanliness, my experience stood in stark contrast. The sands beneath my feet felt clean, and the waters were clear, devoid of any noticeable debris. It’s essential to approach such places with an open mind and understand that experiences can vary. **Conclusion 🏖️** Anniversary Park or Chestermere Beach is more than just a beach; it’s a slice of serenity, a haven for those looking to bask in nature's beauty. Whether you're sunbathing on the shores, wading in the waters, or simply soaking in the sights and sounds, it promises a day of rejuvenation. While occasional rain might play spoilsport, the memories crafted on such shores remain sunny and warm, beckoning you for yet another visit.

This place is not too busy and this is why not too clean neither. It was busy during the long weekend but not any other time that we visited. There are some bathrooms but everyone used them for changing to their swimwear. The lineup is crazy at the bathrooms, no matter what time of the day.

St. Patrick's Island, located next to the Calgary Zoo, is a picturesque urban park that offers a variety of recreational activities for both locals and visitors. The park features hiking and biking trails, a public plaza, an amphitheater, playgrounds, and restored river channels. Visitors can enjoy stunning views of downtown Calgary from the western edge of the island or take a leisurely stroll to The Rise, a grassy knoll used for community events and outdoor entertainment.

One reason we stopped here is it’s just unique. Accessed by a little bridge via a big bridge, it has a little pond (which is connected to the river) for the kids to splash in and throw rocks. My girls enjoyed the minnows nibbling their feet. It wasn’t busy on a weekday but not quiet either, lots of families with their kids as well as people biking by. It also has a few picnic tables and lots of seating. Scenic and lovely place. Although the water was a bit gunky I believe it was because the water level is low, once it rises a lot of that will be washed away.

Welcome to my Island! St. Patrick’s Island is a peaceful green escape right in the middle of Calgary. With scenic trails, cozy picnic spots, and great views of the Bow River, it’s the perfect place to relax, explore, or just enjoy the sunshine. Quiet, clean, and full of charm—my kind of island getaway!

Calm and relaxing park away from too much people (mostly they are in Prince’s Island Park) There’s a pond where you can have a picnic, chill on a blanket, throw stones on the water or just look at the calm canopy of trees. St. Patrick Island is a bit long, connected to Calgary Zoo. There’s a really good trail for running, fireplace/grill, clean washrooms and parking lot.

Flowing from the Canadian Rockies, the Bow River is a popular choice for paddlers of all skill levels. With Class II rapids and 587 kilometers of water to explore, it offers a picturesque setting to spend a weekend enjoying Alberta's natural beauty. The river also boasts numerous campsites along its banks, particularly near Calgary in Southern Alberta. Renowned for its blue ribbon waters, the Bow River attracts fly fishermen from around the world with its abundant rainbow and brown trout population.
We were heading to Lake Louise and saw this Lake from the Parkway. The color was quite amazing so we made a few stops along the way. We were thoroughly enjoying the Canadian Rockies as they are magnificent. The peaks of Mt. Rundle and Mt. Cascade, part of the Canadian Rocky Mountains, dominate its skyline.

Great place for day use. Free parking and there are plenty of picnic tables for cooking and sitting. You can do canoeing, paddleboarding and also some water sports. The sunset is beautiful and the lake is turbulent mostly. Make sure to carry jackets, it can get cold and windy!

The lake itself is fantastic. However, public places are super busy and super noisy, and most of the time, there are a lot of empty cans and plastic. Filing to be in India. It used to be one of our family's favourite places to spend time

Visited this week. First of all, parking is paid. We came to the lake, and it was empty... there were only 2 families besides us. Suspicion crept in, why? There were no signs. Instagram saved us from bad consequences, where we found information that there was a fecal infection in the water. Why is this not indicated anywhere near the lake? It was the first and last time, there is nothing to do on the beach... boring, not enough space.

Looking for hilly walk with stunning views? Check out Bowmont Natural Environment Park. This dog-friendly park can give you a gentle to moderate workout should you stay on the paved pathways and plenty of benches to enjoy the view. Feeling a little more adventurous? Walk along one of the natural paths but be prepared for switchbacks and rocky terrain, plus keep a lookout for mountain bikers. Will be back again soon.

My dog and I regularly visit Bowmont Park throughout the year as there are many trails to explore and various elevations that can suit various physical abilities. You can stay on the regular paved path, just be careful of ice during the winter months, or explore some of the trails cut through the park. The majority of the paths are shared with cyclists, so if you have your dog off-leash, just be prepared to move aside for the bikes.

Beautiful park for families where you can walk or push strollers or wheelchairs through easily. The path is shared with bikes so just be careful. There is a one way street to the parking lot which leads to the park. Benches are available along the path by the river. We saw so much wildlife and flora. This is also home to the osprey nest.

Beautiful place to walk and explore the nature!! Great place to walk your dog (off-leash park) but make sure you bring water and keep your fur baby on leash if need! :P Very peaceful and calm❤️

Excellent easy going nature walk! The walk starts off a little boring and mostly boring hills but once you’re in the actual park it’s a very nice nature walk. You can go to the pond first if you’d like but you can skip the pond and go straight to the river for more nature action. Staying on the paved path will lead you to the river. Explore mini trail walks in and around the park, it’s fairly easy to get back on track so don’t worry too much about getting lost. We went here on May 2020 and the fences weren’t locked as well so you can explore more if you wanted to. Sunset walks are the best here! You’ll see some wild life for sure like ducks, geese, birds and beavers! Definitely recommend going here and exploring for a couple of hours.
Jordan — Google review
Gorgeous park! You can wander in here for hours. Which is easy because there's no good wayfinding to help. Watch out for cyclists where the trails are narrower. We saw people get clipped today, and were almost clipped ourselves. No one rings their bells.

This is one of our favourite parks, there’s a loop around the water with half of it being an off leash dog area, and there’s an amazing playground. Playground is great for all ages, with a swing, merry go round, seated zip line, slides and the rubber on the ground. The washrooms aren’t anything special as they’re just portable toilets but at least they have some. Lots of picnic bench’s.

Big beautiful park! Lots of attractions for kids, and beautiful frozen lake. Great parking lot with a big amount of space. Washrooms only seasonal unfortunately. You should check it out if you have small kids!
Alya — Google review
After 20 years of enjoying walking my dogs at this park, I am sad to say it is no longer a good experience. The city allows tenters in the park who, as they move around the park, leave refuse behind that spoils the natural areas and creates safety hazards for people and their dogs. One of these "campers", set up on the path in the off-leash area, told me to take my dog and get out of the park. Fox glove, very dangerous for dogs proliferates along thei off-leash pathways and more garbage surrounds the lake, left there when the water recedes after a rain. There is not adequate dog park signage along the road indicating on and off-leash areas so people entering the dog park are unaware that they have, This causes problems between dog owners and joggers/bikers and others who are not comfortable around dogs. I have witessed several altercations.
Thea G — Google review
Very relaxing place. It has trail for walking and biking, playground for kids and a very beautiful lake. Great for family picnic!
Franzel S — Google review
The park is nice-ish overall. The playground side is beautiful but if you venture on the path around the water there is LOTS of garbage around the edge. I wouldn’t even let my dog walk on it in fear she might step on something bio hazardous due to the vagrant issues at the park and the road garbage that the wind carries down there. I would advise everyone, adults/children/pets to be extra cautious where you’re stepping.

Incredibly welcoming from the staff members to the community. Lots of different leagues and all skill levels are welcomed. I’ve played in the ultimate frisbee league for the last two seasons and it was a blast. Lots of parking in the lot. Great play area for kids and seating for adults to hang out (and a play to buy beverages!)

I really didn't expect the sand to be so soft. There are sections that are dry and wet, so it's easier for kids to build sand castles. Also happy with the shower facilities. I just needed to be able to hose down the children before getting back in the car, and it did the trick.

Cool and unique space! Pretty centrally located and plenty of parking outside. Went here for a friend’s birthday gathering on a Saturday afternoon - there was probably about 20 of us and we used 2 courts for a few games of volleyball and some Spike Ball, which they provide all the equipment for. There were a few tables for spectating and cubbies for your things just off the court. Was a little cold inside, but you warm up quickly as you start playing. The court area looked like it could use a bit more TLC in terms of finishing, but not a huge deal. Would love to go back again, as the staff at the front mentioned they do a kids free play a few times in the week.

Terrible school. ALWAYS……. PHYSICAL FIGHTS, RASICISM, BULLYING/TEASING others in the school. TEACHERS DO ABSOLUTLY NOTHING!! This school really needs to up their game on these things happening in the school. Kids lie so they don’t get in trouble then unfortunately the other kids gets told they are lieing so it becomes a domino affect. This is disturbing because kids are going to talk to adults about being bullied then in the end nothing gets solved and those that are bullying get away with it with ZERO PUNISHMENT.

This school is very good especially the options you get. (Additional classes) but dam there are lots of weird people in the community like kids taking freaking BB guns and shattering school windows like what the heck man. Also you get to hear those kids dropping f bombs. Overall the curriculum is very good and so are most people. Would recommend but be careful.

I honestly don't recommend this school to others. I have been here since Grade 4, and have had a quite rough experience. I was punished for something that I didn't do and had experienced racism at such a young age, which the school did nothing about. My teachers and friends are the only ones that kept me at this school, the school's social structure also is very toxic. A lot of people I met were fake or harassed me verbally countless times. I just hope people won't feel the same way I did. Luckily, I'm succeeding in school and doing great but I just wish the school focused on certain things from time to time like students' mental health. Thank you to the teachers and my friends for supporting me, They're the reason why I'm doing so amazing at school. The teachers are nice (some) and work hard so I can succeed in my education. Overall, I rate this school at least 2 stars, It's an okay school. But still don't recommend this school if you want situations to be handled better. Also, I know everyone has different experiences I did quite enjoy mine but I know it could’ve been better, I hope the staff can learn from what I’ve went through and improve as a school to be there for their students.

Umm guys I don’t go to this school but I have a niece that does. Uh whoever goes to this school and teachers, tell me why people I have added on snap from that school are posting on their stories physical fights on the school property, why in a TikTok video I saw that there were cops at the school, and that people are getting pregnant is what I hear. And people are skipping class to vape, I used to have a friend that before she went to that school she was a goody2shoes, she would always do her homework and chores, never swore, and was against cigarettes and dating. Well now she goes to that school and she’s wearing false lashes, from the stories my niece tells me she vapes? And is dating a girl. Idk guys but this sounds like a pretty sketchy school to me
Unknown U — Google review
if im being completely honest this school isnt actually as bad as people say it is. yes, there is a lot of bullying but from what i've seen most of the problems do get resolved. the teachers i've had are pretty nice in my opinion. the only thing bad about this school is the annoying kids. sometimes there can be a lot of trash in the hallway and people don't bother putting their trash away in the garbage. most of the time I hear people dropping f-bombs or other swear words lol. this school is pretty good in general, not that bad. I think people over-exaggerate their reviews just because they hate school.

Dale Hodges Park is a hidden gem that beautifully showcases the transformation of a former gravel pit into a vibrant natural oasis. Nestled alongside the Bow River and adjacent to Bowmont Natural Environment Park, this park offers an array of scenic trails winding through lush wetlands and meadows. The rolling grassland paths are ideal for both novice hikers and seasoned adventurers, featuring gentle climbs that reward you with stunning views.
This is my favourite walk in all of Calgary. It’s generally peaceful and quiet away from people. It has some hills overlooking the area that are stunning.
Adam H — Google review
Great paved pathway for walking/running/cycling. Declines as you drop into the park then it's relatively flat until you head west/ up a steep incline that takes you to silversprings. Great views of bowness.
Kathy V — Google review
Dale Hodges Park is a 40.4686 hectares (100.000 acres) natural environment urban park in northwest Calgary, Alberta—an expansion of Bowmont Park—that features a massive public art installation combining aesthetics with functionality where stormwater from eight northwest upstream residential communities flows slowly through "water structures and landforms" inspired by "natural river morphology as well as hydrologic and sedimentation processes" that serve as filters. The park, which is connected to the regional pathway, has a boardwalk, cycling and walking trails, the Nautilus Pond, a polishing marsh, a wet meadow, man-made streams, vantage points of the Bow River, and wildlife habitat.
Ngo A — Google review
This park is located within Bowmont Park where you can chill on the cool bridges and enjoy the nice sceneary of the water. This area was previously not good for nature but was turned into a park by Alderman Dale Hodges. There are nice and easy trails around the park that can bring you around Bowmont Park and even into Bowness Park so you can go hiking, biking, or just on a leisurely stroll!
Oscar K — Google review
Well maintained, wide paths that are excellent for walking, trail running, and biking. You feel away from the city instantly!

Beautiful place. They did a really nice job renovating this part of Bowmont Park, which is now called Dale Hodges Park. It's perfect for a relaxing stroll.

The Bow River Pathway is a popular and picturesque urban pathway in Calgary, offering over 1000 kilometers of regional pathways and 96 kilometers of trails. It runs alongside the Bow River, providing stunning views and opportunities for activities such as jogging, biking, and hiking throughout the year. The pathway passes through various parks including Edworthy Park, Princes Island Park, Peace Bridge, and Angels Cafe.
Beautiful accessible river that runs through the city center; with a park connected to it as well as shallower areas where geese and beavers roam free, and domesticated pets with their hoomans splash around by the banks as well. Serene and peaceful around the bridge area. Saw many people strolling or running ❤️

The Bow River Pathway is an absolute gem in Calgary and deserves every bit of praise. Whether you're walking, biking, or just out for a leisurely stroll, this pathway offers something for everyone. It’s beautifully maintained—clean, well-marked, and easy to navigate. The scenery along the route is simply stunning. You’re treated to continuous views of the Bow River, with its crystal-clear water and charming pedestrian bridges. The surrounding greenery, open park spaces, and occasional glimpses of the downtown skyline make it a picturesque and peaceful escape right in the heart of the city. There are plenty of spots to sit, relax, and take in the views. It also connects to several key attractions, parks, and neighborhoods, making it not just scenic, but also incredibly practical for exploring the area. Whether you’re out for exercise or just a dose of nature, the Bow River Pathway is a perfect way to spend a few hours. Highly recommend adding it to your Calgary experience!

This is an amazing pathway. Very user friendly with lines separating directions and bikes. Amenities along the way. And it is mostly flat, so easy to bike. It was a great way to spend the morning! I would highly recommend spending time here.

Very beautiful walkway wear you can listen to the relaxing sound of the river and even see some animals. I saw a bunny and some ducks:)

It's always a great walk along the Bow river, no matter what time of day it is, or month. Warm spring mornings, cool autumn nights or a mid day brisk January walk, great exercise and nature to take in. Never a disappointment.

The meeting to discuss lake fee increase on June 13, 2024 was way too long. Was supposed to start at 7, actually started at 745. McKenzie Lake residents who couldn't wait till 9:50pm to vote, because they had kids to put to bed at home didn't have a say even if they attended the meeting. When the Board of Directors we're asked: What would you have done if the vote would have been against the increase, they said they'd go ahead with it anyway. Shows how much they care about our community! What's the purpose of having a meeting?
Nathan Z — Google review
Called security multiple times to report something near the lake. A guy answered the phone the first time but hung up on me while I was talking! So disappointed with the unprofessionalism here. Why even have the option to call security when no one answers and even when they do they hang up immediately!?! So disappointed with the lack of care of the individual who answered then hung up. I am very upset by this.
Jen A — Google review
Sandi in the office was very kind and efficient, helping us with our party planning. The views at night were beautiful and the space worked well. However the acoustics were terrible. With 50 voices talking/visiting, we could not even hear the music on the sound system/dancing wasn’t an option. The ceilings are very low and the room is echolaic. That was disappointing for a celebration.
Michelle M — Google review
Exceptionally rude staff. Especially during the summer season. Not sure what we are paying for other than a mediocre lake and “people” who hate their jobs. Go work at McDonald’s
Andrew L — Google review
well maintained, nice beach area and playground. Downside are the security guards, especially the old ones that walk around with a chip on their shoulder and are rude.
