Barrington's Plettenberg Bay is more than just a restaurant; it's an immersive experience that combines a dining hotspot, bakery, and terrace in one delightful location. This South African smokehouse cuisine spot offers a unique culinary journey from breakfast to dinner. The restaurant features a charming terrace overlooking the Klein Piesang river bank, providing a tranquil setting for enjoying freshly baked pastries and cakes from their bakery.
We had a lovely time at Barringtons We enjoyed the beer tasting excellent quality craft beer available We also had the gin on tap - no complaints The grounds are lovely and serene and adds to the relaxed atmosphere of the establishment We enjoyed our lunch. We ordered the lamb shank which seemed small but sufficient and tasty. The rump steak was flavorful and excellently prepared to request. The calamari was great and a good portion. Overall 5/5 on food, service, quality food and value for money. We would return

We stumbled upon the brewery by chance today. We were very impressed by the property. We ordered something to eat there. It was delicious. The burger was very tasty, the meat was very tender. The beer was really delicious. As a German, I can highly recommend the Hefeweizen. The waiter, Avu, was very friendly and gave us good advice. The restrooms were very clean. There was plenty of soap and paper towels.

We spent three nights in Plettenberg Bay as tourists and ended up eating at Barringtons twice — simply because it was that good! On our first evening, we had the beef and chicken burgers, both absolutely delicious and perfectly cooked. We were so impressed that we came back two nights later for the Korma beef curry and the salmon, which were both full of flavor and beautifully presented. For dessert, we tried the Crème Brûlée and Tiramisu — both were outstanding and the perfect finish to an amazing meal. The ambience at Barringtons is warm, stylish, and inviting, and the service was excellent on both nights — attentive, friendly, and professional. We highly recommend Barringtons to anyone visiting Plettenberg Bay. A true gem with wonderful food, great atmosphere, and top-notch service!

I had the pleasure of having a craft beer tasting, dinner and breakfast here. Could not fault a thing. The food is delicious and fresh, menu is diverse, service is excellent and the setting is stunning. Highly recommend.

This is an absolutely gorgeous restaurant. The atmosphere is warm and sophisticated, the cheeseburger was out of this world, and the beer tasting was a great experience.

The kids loved exploring Barrington's especially the beautiful veggie garden. I had a fantastic chickpea and Haloumi quinoa warm salad! The kids were very impressed with the way the icecream cones were presented. Will definitely visit again!

We had such a wonderful lunch at Barringtons. My husband and I were celebrating our anniversary & the waitress brought us two glasses of delicious champagne with berries in. She also brought our kids a marsh mellow each & were so kind to them. Our meal was delicious and the veggie gardens were also so well kept and was nice to walk through. Next time we visit Plett, we will definitely be back again.

We (my wife and I) have thoroughly enjoyed breakfasts, lunches and bar drinks here at Barrington’s Restaurant, Bar and Terraces. When they say you can enjoy long lazy breakfasts and lunches out on one of the many sunny terraces, this is absolutely spot on (although yesterday it rained so we had breakfast inside and still enjoyed a lazy breakfast and the vibe!). The food, service and the experience is not to be missed. With so many tables there’s no hurry, indeed it was very busy but we were not rushed at all. We came here last year for the first time. It’s very impressive. Walking through the kitchen gardens is lovely, so well set out and manicured. The restaurant and terraces are very clean and well thought out. The food is excellent . The bar and the beer they brew is also fabulous. I think this is an experience not to be missed, after a few visits I can confidently say we have not been disappointed, indeed we really look forward to coming here. I hope you enjoy it too!

Bakery
Le Fournil is a French bakery and cafe that is a favourite for brunch and lunch in the summer. They serve up fresh, artisanal breads and pastries, as well as breakfasts and sandwiches, all made from scratch. favourites include their Truth Coffee, salted caramel cheesecake and chocolate croissants. The bakery has a lovely courtyard off Main Street that is perfect for hanging out in the shade on a hot day.
Fantastic ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️time here at Le Fournil de Plett bakery and café in Plattenberg Bay. The service was incredible, the food was exceptional and the drinks are cold and fast. The decor inside is inviting and homely and has that special French flair. Our waitress, Belle, was a star and really took care of us. She was efficient and friendly. I can highly recommend this is your favourite breakfast spot in Plett and it’s got stunning views out on the balcony. Inside by the fireplace on a cold day is the place where you want to be. the menu is comprehensive and they have a lot of pastries, baked goods and delicious breakfasts to choose from, along with a lot of options for lunch.

Good restaurant, we liked it but we were shocked by the prices. We ordered an omelet with tomatoes, cheese and mushrooms, but they charged us 30 for tomatoes, 20 for mushrooms, 30 for cheese and 25 for eggs. It's not reasonable. Everything has a different price and they're all on one plate. I don't know if these are their prices or if they deceived us.

Wow. Time and time again the world proves to me that there is no better almond croissant than that of Le Fournil. I’m not sure how they do it, but however they do I hope they never stop. Outside area under the willow tree is superb and coffee is delicious!!
Emma P — Google review
Le Fournil Bakery is located in the boutique Lookout Centre and the restaurant is on the top floor (okay there are only two floors, but it still gives a great view over the town). Service was sharp and efficient. Thanks so much to the server staff (whose name currently escapes me) but they made the experience special. The food was well-prepared and tasty. What more do you need? There is additional seating in the courtyard as well as the balcony and you can see that some regulars have their favourite spots. Pricing is very attractive and it would be a good idea to see this concept expended to other places – especially small towns. The wheelchair seems a bit steep.
Duncan A — Google review
The food was nice but the service was absolutely SHOCKING. We waited 40 minutes just to get our water and when we asked our waiter about it we were met with such aggression. The food order was then incorrect, and the “fresh” apple juice that was bought to our table had clearly been sitting out for a very long time because the juice was warm and completely brown. The manager was less than helpful and was stalking around the restaurant barking orders at all the staff in front of everyone. Awful awful experience; such a pity because the restaurant used to be so amazing.

Lovely coffee, great menu choices, good service and a lovely setting.

Beautiful decor inside, very nice atmosphere. Food was delicious and well presented, surprised me as I was not sure what to expect, as was not so sure off this place. Coffee was nice and strong and Bell and Matthew the waiters were very friendly and extremely helpful! They bread 🍞 is lovery we took some home too and for my father in-law. Overall I would definitely come back and recommend it!

La Cafeteria Plett is a charming café located just steps away from the beach, offering a friendly and relaxing environment. It's known for its delicious almond croissants, excellent coffee, fresh juices, and avocado breakfast options. The staff is enthusiastic and friendly, making it a must-visit spot in Plettenberg Bay. In addition to their delectable food and beverages, they also offer a selection of men's and women's shoes that are comfortable and eco-friendly.
SUPER cute spot! i absolutely love this place & highly recommend their salmon bagels or brie and fig sandwiches! So affordable as well and amazing energy from the waitresses!
Madison O — Google review
Good coffee but the almond croissant, it was a far removed cousin of the croissant at best. And at R80 for a single croissant I was expecting Paris! It was unfortunately Parys from the Free State, a disguised bread roll masquerading as a croissant, nothing light and buttery about it, no almond. So the service, ambiance and good coffee were all overshadowed the faux-ssant!
Dorian T — Google review
Great atmosphere. The waiters ( Promise and Michael) remembered us from last year, and gave us a warm welcome. The food is amazing. The coffee ☕️👍👍, The french cannoli to die for. It seems like the local coffee stop. We love this place and we are thankful they are thriving.

It is a nice shoes... But, should it be present next to the dining table? We, Asian... Kind of not understand this concept though 🙎 Anyway, food, fresh squeeze fruit juice and service was nice.

We popped in for breakfast and absolutely loved this place! Fantastic coffee, fresh juices, and all the pastries you could wish for. We tried the Spanakopita with their homemade pineapple relish, and it was amazing. The staff were an absolute joy. Wish we didn't live the other side of the world, so we could go every week!

La Cafeteria near the Beacon Isle is my best place to pop in when visiting Plett. The staff are friendly & enthusiast. The choice of freshly made & baked Pastries, Quiches, Bagels & more… You won’t know what to choose Soooo much yummyness… Get in early or a bit later… they open & 7am. Coffee is delicious & freshly made juices. This is a must visit! Ps they sell men’s & ladies shoes too… Sooo comfortable I have 3 pairs… waiting on my 4th to be delivered (couriered ) They are Eco & Machine washable!!!

In my two days at Plett, I've fallen in love with this place! The coffee is superb and without a doubt the best I've tasted in South Africa so far. Staff is contagiously happy. Almond croissant one of the best I've had (after Mamie Gourmande in Leiden, NL). Lovely juices, breakfast quiches, and bagels.

A local gem that you NEED to visit. Pop in for a coffee, you will want to stay longer! Enjoy a snack. Buy a pair of natural world shoes. Or simply go and “take it all in” - your day will continue with an extra spring-in-your-step. Do yourself the favour. That’s all.

Very tasty and affordable pies! We were in Plett for a couple days and got a recommendation to come and get some pies from this place. We went there in the late afternoon so there wasn’t much left but the ones we did buy were very tasty! We took them with us and had them on the hike we did and it perfectly helped fuel the hike! The owner is super friendly and the place is very well located in Plett. Definitely recommended to come here if you’re in the area. You will not regret it!

Had a birthday dinner at The Palms. The stuff was amazing and Sive took great care of us. I had chicken dunked wings and they were soooo good. My friend had their smash burger and she’s still talking about it. Already planning on going back, everything was superb

The Palms Plett is by far one of my most favorite places to spend time. The moment you step inside, the décor sweeps you away—it’s refined, stylish, and absolutely upper class, setting the perfect atmosphere for a memorable outing. The service is consistently exceptional—attentive without being intrusive, with a team that makes you feel valued from start to finish. The cocktails are a work of art, beautifully crafted with that little extra kick that makes them stand out. We decided to start light with a small starter so we could indulge in dessert—and it was absolutely worth the wait. Every bite delivered on flavor and presentation, the perfect sweet ending to the experience. The Palms Plett is the kind of place that leaves you smiling long after you’ve left. I wouldn’t hesitate for a second to visit again, and it’s always at the top of my list when in Plettenberg Bay.

🌴 Stumbled upon a gem in Plettenberg Bay — The Palms! What a find! One of the best dining spots we’ve experienced. 🌊 View & Atmosphere: Absolutely impeccable — the restaurant overlooks the sea, with waves crashing below and a refreshing ocean breeze. 🍽️ Food: Out of this world. Every dish was a delight. 🤝 Service: Top-tier — warm, attentive, and professional. If you’re in Plett, don’t miss this place. It’s more than a meal — it’s a full-on coastal experience.

This was the best meal we had in Plettenberg Bay. Superb food, excellent service and a lovely fireplace. The only downside is the fact that renovations are ongoing outside. Not only was the food delicious but it turned out to be excellent value for money as well And the special ice cream was to die for.

Disappointing meal, promised more than it delivered… husband had chickpea curry, it was very dry and the chocolate and pear dessert was dry too ( don’t know where the caramel sauce was!). On the plus side the cocktails were great and Sevi our server was really good, full of enthusiasm and a great server. The atmosphere was great as well, just a shame the food let the whole experience down.

Located within the Plett Quarter Hotel on Main Street, The Sanctuary Restaurant offers a diverse menu featuring delicious breakfasts, tempting salads, juicy burgers, flavorful mains, mouthwatering flatbreads, pasta dishes, and irresistible desserts. The talented chef crafts each dish as a work of art to entice your taste buds and captivate your senses. It aims to create a cozy gathering spot for friends and families to enjoy fantastic food and good times.
My husband and I were craving a pie after a day of kayaking - a google search suggested The Sanctuary and I’m so glad we came here. We were not looking our best, tired and unkempt and completely underdressed, so I just asked for a takeout. Nico welcomed us warmly, graciously dismissing the notion that we were not appropriately dressed and offered us a table so we could have a drink while we waited. Just such great service! South African hospitality at its best! The lovely barman made me a beautiful strawberry daiquiri and we left there with our (delicious!!) chicken pie feeling more than satisfied. Wish we were in Plett for longer as I would definitely have come back for a proper, more relaxing meal (and better dressed!!) 😅

A restaurant that we would definitely like to visit again, especially because of the great service provided by our waiter Avuyile. Thank you for your wonderful service and your warmth. The other staff were also all extremely nice. The ambience was very stylish, modern and clean. The food was excellent from the starter to the dessert and the wine was also very good. Thank you all for a lovely afternoon in your restaurant.

My wife and I had an incredible anniversary dinner at The Sanctuary Restaurant in Plettenberg Bay. Since halal-friendly options are limited in the area, we called ahead, and once confirmed, we went ahead with our booking. Upon arrival, we were warmly welcomed by Ziziphiwe, who made us feel at home. The staff were equally friendly, creating a lovely atmosphere. Our table was beautifully prepared, and Ziziphiwe personally assisted us with menu selections, checking in throughout the evening to ensure we were enjoying ourselves. The food was fantastic! We had pasta, which was absolutely top-notch. To make the night even more special, Ziziphiwe surprised us with a delicious cheesecake after our meal—a thoughtful touch that truly made our evening. It’s rare to find a restaurant that goes the extra mile for dietary needs, and we truly appreciated it. I’ll definitely be back whenever I’m in Plettenberg Bay!

Amazing! Nico, the manager, was so friendly and kind from the get go, we just got engaged and the chef gave us complimentary strawberry cheesecake which was phenomenal, probably the best cheesecake in Plett. The oxtail and chicken pasta was a home-run! I also highly recommend the frozen strawberry daiquiri! My new favourite restaurant, everything was homemade and the cheesecake is a must try!

What an amazing dining experience. Away from the hustle and bustle of the main street during the busy holiday season this restaurant has stylish decor and provides a tranquil setting overlooking the ocean. The staff are very professional, friendly and accommodating to find options to suit your dietary requirements. The portion sizes are more than enough and tasty. Enjoy a cocktail to cool down in the summer heat and come and relax at Amelia's. Be sure to make a booking well in advance over the holiday season and give them a call to see if there is a gap even if the online booking shows it is full.

A lovely evening meal at Amelia’s. The hotel is gorgeously decorated and the bar looked lovely too. The staff were all smiley and chatty, and it was nice to see a restaurant busy and lots of people enjoying themselves. Really tasty and well presented meals. A lovely salad and poke to start, and great tuna for me and veg curry for hubbie as a main. And a full vegan menu if needed. Two very minor let downs only. The poppadum served with the curry was not crispy, and the sorbets we had after were a bit watery. But very minor comments on what was an excellent meal. We haven’t been drinking and so took a bottle of non alcoholic wine with us and paid corkage of R95 which was a bargain. Super service and great food.

The Plettenberg is famous for being the #1 ranked hotel in South Africa. The hotel restaurant is no different. With a wide selection of wines on offer, stunning sea views, and food options that cater to young and old, the dining experience was superb.

This was one of the worst experience I have ever received from a spur. The only reason they still open for business is because of the location. The chips was old and tasted like cartbord boxes, she cheddar melt sauce was so skimpy it dit not even cover the patty of my child's burger, I ordered a side portion of vegetables on the side , that did not come. Worst experience, they did not even ask for my spur cartfor points when I payed the bill. I then complaint to the manager on duty to give him my feedback so that they can be aware of all the problems we experienced. I wrote down all of the details in a book whereby they Sayed that the owner of the franchise or the area manager will get back to me, but it still has not happened. We were down here on holiday and my daughter wanted to go to the spur for her birthday. But what a let down. What I also can't understand, there is 2 restaurants next to each other but there is 1 x male toilet to share with 2 X restaurant's. Just 1 x toilet. It's un heard off. Just a update, after I have posted this review the spur branch phoned me and apologised. Then they offered me a voucher to make up for the bad service and food that I got. They gave me a R300 voucher for a R1000 spent with them. They also Sayed they are going to send the waitress for more training, but she was just 1/3 of the problem, the kitchen staff was the other 2/3's of the problem.....still not satisfied with this spur.

Was at this Spur Branch for breakfast and can immediately tell you that the staff are very friendly from the moment you enter the door. Our waiter was always making sure that we were okay, and whether the food was fine. Did not wait long at all for our meals, and the food was warm, fresh and really yummy to the tummy!!! Can't wait to go back to this Spur again because, the staff are very friendly, and the view is also spectacular.

This was our first time at Spurs in Plettenberg Bay. I have to say the service was very, very bad. No one felt responsible for us, even though the restaurant wasn't full. We sometimes had to order our own drinks at the bar and clear the table ourselves after eating. The three children were only given one drawing set. I eat in restaurants in Plettenberg Bay two or three times a week, and this was the worst service ever. The food was pretty average and not exactly cheap. This was the first and last time for me. Thank you!!!

If i could i would give a 0 star . Service was horrible , felt like i was just a number and eat and leave , waitress not interested at all , as a tour guide , i recommend avoid there are many better options in plett that would be more happy to receive you then the Spur at Plett , disappointed and will never return

Indlovu Cafe, visited on a sunny day in April, offers a welcoming atmosphere with disabled parking and adherence to COVID-19 protocols. The cafe provides indoor and outdoor seating as well as a play area for children. Their menu features breakfast options, an array of soft drinks and alcoholic beverages. Additionally, the bakery section inside offers muffins and quick coffee for those in a rush.
Good afternoon We went to the Indlovu Cafe on the 3rd of April 2021. There is disabled parking available. Seating is available on the inside and outside. COVID-19 protocols were followed on welcoming. There is also a play area available for the kids. They have a breakfast menu and a good variety of soft drinks and alcoholic beverages. On the inside there is a bakery section where you can buy some muffins and a quick coffee should you be in a hurry. We ordered the chicken mayo toasties and some cappuccinos. All the toasties and burgers can be ordered with the option to add chips or salad. Biodegradable straws are available if you are interested. The food and services received from Thabisa was really great. The scenery is really amazing. There were a lot of ducks and you can purchase food for the ducks as well. Thank you to the staff of Indlovu Cafe for making it awesome at this restaurant. I recommend this place, and if you every come to visit the elephants, make sure to make this one of your stops as well.

Tasty and not expensive with very friendly staff around. Good choice of simple snacks, desserts and coffees. There might be a long wait if you come in with a big group or if you happen to get entangled in one. Great spot though after visiting the elephants and you can always kill some time in the adjacent souvenir shop. Good and clean toilet facilities.
Edyta D — Google review
We ordered 2 pizzas and 2 margarita cocktails. The cocktails were very lemony but tasted nice. The pizzas were extremely oily to the point that I had to blot the oil with a paper napkin. Something that could be improved on!
Januschka M — Google review
Lovely outdoor seating and the menu is named after the elephants!
Kerry B — Google review
Nice, cosy, tasty and just perfect with kids because of the close playground.
Christian S — Google review
The scenery is great, and manager/owner was nice. The food was really good. The staff however are underwhelming. We waited 10 minutes to get served and waited another 30 to get drinks and then another 20 after that to get food. Waitress never checked on us and when we wanted a doggy bag, disappeared for another 20 minutes, not sure if she went to buy the bag somewhere.

Love that you sit down and coukd spot an elephant on ghe hillside while eating. The food was great and arrived quickly. Service was excellent. Staff were friendly and attentive. There were Two kids play areas to choose from and parents can choose a table in full view of play area as there are lots of seating options available. Awesome spot for the whole family...

Lovely place. We came in on a cold day and had a lovely lunch next to the fire place. Lunch was nice, well priced an a big portion. The kids had great fun on the playground. And when its warmer, there is a big seating area outside.

Beautiful vintage place, the ladies are so friendly. Loved the artwork at the stop and the unique gifts that you can purchase. The chai latte was amazing. From what I saw a lot of the people come to have Milkshakes.

Good food, best carwash in knysna. Friendly people and the price is not crazy. Have a snack while these people take care of your car. Will come back again
Johan R — Google review
Food was great. I enjoyed the place. The scenery was great. The people were friendly. The bacon and egg and cheese sandwich tasted amazing. Waitress seemed very confused. We asked for brown bread many times, she still brought white. She forgot about some of the order. We had to keep reminding her. The chicken mayo sandwitch had too much Mayo on. She obviously had a bad day.
Warwick V — Google review
Coffee was good. Just a shame no bottomless options or larger mugs would be appreciated. By the way James at the car wash was fantastic. My car is so squeaky clean
