Nature & Parks
Praia do Tenório is a well-equipped beach in the northern coast of Sao Paulo, attracting tourists year-round with its excellent infrastructure and natural beauty. Despite its small size, it's popular among families seeking a great spot for swimming and offering everything visitors need. Nestled in a paradise bay just south of Praia Vermelha, this beach boasts stunning coast mountains, powdery sands, and gentle waves perfect for swimming due to protection from the western headland.
This place is amazing and you must include in your list if you are visiting Ubatuba. Caiçara Bar on the beach is very nice too. Prices are okay and the service as well. Friendly staffs and good portions. I highly recommend Célio Açaí, he is an independent seller walking around and sometimes staying nearby Caiçara bar. He is lovely, very polite and really cares about his potential customers. I highly recommend you to go early as it is has small car parking and tend to be busy. The cost for the parking is 20 reais(2,80€). I hope you visit this place, let me know how was your experience if you do.

Very good beach, with calm waves, but depending on the time it can get very crowded, but with an incredible view
Luis S — Google review
If you like crazy busy beaches, you will love this one. Lots to do. Many decent baracas, many restaurants. Small waves. Good for families with young kids. If you don't Luke busy beaches, stay away! Parking is an absolute nightmare. It took us an hour to drive 20km because the road was so busy
Jurie P — Google review
Beautiful beach and clean ocean. Friendly vendors selling an assortment of beachwear .
Wendy L — Google review
It gets very overcrowded, too many kiosk tables everywhere. Vermelha next door is better.
Petr V — Google review
Beach relatively long and wide, totally exposed to waves. Not a place to swim but a great place to play with the waves. I didn't see any surfer. The water in the end of September is warm and many people are in the water. There's a short walk from the car parking among beautiful houses and the one day ticket is 10 reais.

Beach
Nature & Parks
Praia do Cedro, also known as Cedrinho, is a remote beach in Ubatuba that can be accessed by boat or a steep downhill trail. The beach is characterized by its dark green sea and calm, crystal-clear waters, making it ideal for snorkeling and swimming. Surrounded by lush vegetation and rock formations, the beach has a rustic charm and remains relatively uncrowded due to its challenging access.
Our favorite beach in Ubatuba. It is a smaller quiet beach in central Ubatuba. The shrimp pastel are some of my favorite and the drinks are very good. The kiosk workers are friendly and attentive. The ocean current can be on the stronger side here but it is definitely worth swimming in to cool down on hot days
Jason L — Google review
DO NOT FOLLOW GOOGLE MAPS WALKING DIRECTIONS. Take the left further down the main road, after the directions Google gives to reach the beach. See pic.
Mike — Google review
My husband and I loved this place. It is not very accessible, which, in our opinion, made this place a paradise. Very quiet, calm, clean beach and clean water, no beggers while we were there. In June, there were no salespeople there or washrooms, but we were prepared with food and made a short stay. We were there in June 2023.
Thay S — Google review
My family and I had to make a short trail to get to this beach, I can’t lie it’s so beautiful definitely I will come back anytime soon.
Matheus S — Google review
Good place, but the visit was not well organized and planned by #MSC CRUISES partners.
Joao S — Google review
A little further away from downtown, a sinuous road with a 200m descent on foot to the beach. It is very small, coarse sand beach, crowded for it's size. Nice to visit but too much effort.
Antonio B — Google review
Awesome secluded beach, the road to the beach is pretty horrible lots of bumps, then a long down hill path to the beach. All is worth it when you see the beauty..

Praia do Lázaro, located approximately 15.5 kilometers from Ubatuba's city center, is a fantastic choice for a peaceful family day at the beach. With its 1.5-kilometer-long sandy shore, it caters to all kinds of beachgoers. The left side of the beach is livelier with beachside kiosks and music, especially during the summer months.
An amazing place, clean water and safe. The only issue are some impolite and pain the neck Brazilians that use cheap usb speakers to play loud and awful songs on the beach.
Alaister T — Google review
Absolutely disgusting. Disappointing actually. Arriving at the beach, the sewer smell going into the water was disgusting. The beach was packed and people and dogs swimming, even that the authorities informed it was not safe. We just had to go through this beach to arrive in another of the safe beaches.

Zoos & Aquariums
Nestled in the stunning coastal town of Ubatuba, the Ubatuba Aquarium is a delightful blend of indoor and outdoor experiences that showcases an impressive array of local marine life. Established by a passionate group of oceanographers in 1994, this aquarium features around 70 species across its various enclosures, including Brazil's largest saltwater tank. Visitors can marvel at fascinating creatures like crabs, octopuses, sharks, and even Magellanic penguins from Patagonia.
Amazing place. Worth every penny from the ticket. Well guided, the staff is very gentle. Lots of information about sea life.
Luiz F — Google review
Was surprised at the array of animals there , staff were lovely and when raining spent a couple of hours sheltering inside !
George W — Google review
I liked it, kind of fun for children. It isn't as big as other ones around the world, but fits into this environment. The most fun was the playground behind it for my kids.
Daniel G — Google review
Small but very nice and well organized, employees were respectful and knowledgeable. The sharks and penguins were the highlight of the visit but the experience was really good overall, really worth the time.
Julio R — Google review
This aquarium is an excellent opportunity to make a immersion into the beauty and miseries of the sea, this place is prepared for a huge crowd of adults and kids enjoying multiple attractions, it is recomended to buy tickets online in advance to have a quick access to the place, also check the estimated time for some scheduled activities, like feeding the penguins, so you can have the best experience possible here, very recommended
Renner P — Google review
It was smaller than I've been to other places, but close and intimate. Probably crowded I peak season, but July it was perfect. Some signs had English but not all.
Mac S — Google review
Very nice manageable size for children. We saw species we'd never seen before and there is a beautiful shell collection. The tide exhibit was fun. The petting pool was a new experience too. There's a nicely decorated cafe (we got a free coffee with a family ticket) overlooking a play area outside on the promenade. The recycling exhibit was overly sombre at the end of the tour.
Rachel C — Google review
The visit is very pleasant and the path is interesting with posters and exhibitions. The place is not very big but there are spectacular types of marine animals. I suggest to avoid peak time as it could be stressing waiting in the queue. Near the exit, you can touch a number of live examples like the star fish, pepino do mar, etc. There is a small restaurant inside, which can also serve people not in the aquarium from the side overlooking the beach.

With over 100 stunning beaches and well-preserved rainforests, Ubatuba provides an ideal setting for nature lovers. In addition to its natural beauty, visitors can also explore the Tamar project dedicated to marine turtle preservation.
This place is incredible. It really worth the visit. Just recommend to get here as early as possible since it gets very busy and it’s quite hard to reach the parking slot. 30.00 reais(5.50€ +/-). The lounge beach has minimum consumption(200.00 reais). The prices are okay. The service is okay. It could be better!
Gabriel P — Google review
Wonderful! Such a beautiful nature, blessed place. If you're in Ubatuba you must visit this beach.
Louise G — Google review
It was such a beautiful place with great people and service ....
Gus S — Google review
Beach frequented by locals, with an image of a place to be. Surf breaks literally meters from the beach so it is lovely for a swim. Some "disconected" foodstalls ice merchants and rent a canoe. Nature around it is really impressive and truly worth a visit.
Denis P — Google review
Good beach, the sand is very coarse (and it gets everywhere :p), even hurts the feet a bit, the ocean had lots of big waves, not good for swimming (the day I went, at least), but it's good, beautiful, there is a kiosk with several options and very, very good service, they are incredible polite and handy, a bit expensive.
Luan N — Google review
If you're not going to the beach from Taubaté via Oswaldo Cruz, you can expect a kinda long trip, but it's definitely worth it. (Also, if downtown Ubatuba traffic is in a jam, try going through Rio Escuro. It's a muddy way, but definitely worth the view. The beach, as most of Ubatuba beaches, is removed from the main road. If you go all the way down by car, there are some paid parking lots. We parked at Bruzy for 35BRL. We also stayed at Bruzy. There are tables closer and further away from the sea. The further ones are sheltered from the sun not only with parasols but also with trees. The service is very good, the price of the beverages is sensible (for a beach) and the portions are well served, lacking a little in savor. The beach has very fine white sands and a very clear water. The waves are around 1m high. Strongly recommend.
Hélder R — Google review
A good choice among the Ubatuba beaches, they offer a boat service to Ilha do Prumirim. It's worth a visit.

The area also boasts nearby restaurants and picturesque views of green mountains. Additionally, visitors can explore the Prumirim Waterfall, located just 19 kilometers north of the city center near Prumirim bridge.
Not a busy beach when we visited. A nice relaxing stop on the way home. Do not mess with the sea birds though! They're very protective of their chicks! We obviously walked in the wrong place
Hannah V — Google review
Not so large beach that is easily accessible from the main road with car parking located few meters from the sand. Not crowded and ideal place for surfers. Not many facilities around the beach, this is why probably it is not overcrowded.
Andrea R — Google review
Epic waves.... Epic spot! It's right of the main road, so be sure to make this stop!
Ryan S — Google review
The finest beach in the north shore of Sao Paulo. Very cool place, but more the the sea is meant for surfers only, the waves are tall and strong. It's a piece of heaven.
Luis C — Google review
One of the best beaches in Ubatuba for surfing. By other hand, its strong waves and steep bottom bring some danger to kids. Try to keep your car parked in sight, and never leave anything valuable inside, as thieves are not incomum here.

Known for the "Trilha das 7 praias" (trail of 7 beaches). Where i suggest you park your car at the Salga condomínio residencial, which you will arrive at the lagoinha beach. From there you take a trail which should take you a good 30min-1hr hike until you finally reach the Praia Grande do Bonete. (You will find smaller beaches on the way....but suggest you walk until you see a big sandy beach.

Beautiful and huge beach! The southern part is dangerous, not recommended even for adults. The waves are crushing against the rock too strong. The northern part of the beach is more friendly. My favourite beach in the world. But one to be respected... The water gets deep quickly, and whilst the sea was quite calm when I was there, it can get 'angry' (and exhilarating) to the point where you just have to walk away. Not busy when I was there on a Monday afternoon in winter, but in the summer and at weekends it's a different story. I always look forward to coming back here no matter how long I've been away...

A 10-minute walk, easy, but don't be fooled, it's not "flat," it has ups and downs, a total elevation change of around 15 meters. A small, very calm beach, practically without waves, very clear water, with many rocks. The sand is dark, but this is not pollution, it's a characteristic of the place. There is no infrastructure. Worth a visit. Praia de Maranduba in Ubatuba is a popular and bustling beach known for its calm and crystal-clear waters, making it a favorite among families with children and elderly visitors. The beach offers a complete infrastructure with food and drink kiosks, as well as various leisure options such as banana boat rides, stand-up paddle boarding, and even a water slide in the middle of the sea.
Outstanding place to rest. Warm and calm waters. A must for childrens. For those with a more adventure spirit, you can rent a "caiaque" 2 seats boat, whit a doubled ended paddles. And visit a nearby island, in front of the beach.
Luiz F — Google review
Awesome beach. Clear, calm water. A bit crowded on the weekend. Sand shines like gold flakes.
Ryan K — Google review
It’s a nice beach with many kiosks selling various foods and beverages. Prices are a bit high compared to inland restaurants and stores, yet the environment is good. There are some beach activities like the banana boat and sea toboggan which grant some fun for an acceptable price. The water is mostly clean and the waves are not very strong. It’s a nice family friendly beach.
Tommy V — Google review
It is not crowded like the neighboring beaches. There is a part with a lot of big houses for rental(season) that puts you directly in the beash sand. Kinda "exclusive" beach, but it's really not. Good weather, works well for families(kids, etc).

Jundu Praia Bar is a renowned beachfront dining spot in Ubatuba, offering stunning views and delicious gastronomic options. It's a popular choice for celebrating weddings and serves as an ideal location for lunch or dinner by the sea. The menu features traditional Caicara cuisine with a focus on fresh fish and seafood such as prawns, catfish, mullets, and oysters.
THE beach bar/restaurant. Jundu is already a classic at Prumirim, a not-so-busy beach a few km from the city center in Ubatuba. The wonderful setting of the beach is a plus, but also the food and drinks are delicious and curated. Really recomended. A bit expensive, but worth it.

The staff isn’t necessarily fluent in english however, they will try anything to make sure that they communicate with you as clearly as possible. They all were friendly and helpful. There’s wifi available there as well if you need to use Google Translate like we did. To say that the food and drinks were delicious is an understatement : It was divine. My favourite was the lemony fried chicken. The price was affordable and the location was heavenly, on the beach were they weren’t too many people. The bathroom wasn’t the cleanest. I will come back.

The beach and all the surrounding area are very clean and tidy. The beach is within a bay so it is protected from waves and the water is pretty much calm, very good to swim. Hiking Trails
The Trail of 7 Beaches, also known as the Sete Praias Trail, is a popular and serene hiking route in Ubatuba. This 10 km trail takes a full day to complete and offers access to mostly empty beaches throughout the year. During peak seasons, some beaches may be more frequented by boat trips. It's recommended to be in good physical condition and carry enough water and food for the journey.
Although the weather was a little gloomy, temperature was great for the hike. These photos are of the portion between Praia Bonete and Lagoinha. Amazing scenery and views. Highly recommend!
Jacobus K — Google review

This 7 beaches trail hike was most definitely the highlight of my trip to Brazil. I went to Rio, Ilha Grande, Sao Paolo, Paraty but Ubatuba (where the trail is) was a great addition to my itinerary and most definitely a beautiful surprise. I strongly suggest to have a guide as I am personally not a fan of "organized activities" when I travel but I did not regret having a guide for this one. He was so knowledgable and thought me a lot about the jungle and Brazil. As for the trail/hike itself, make sure to have some good shoes on, sunscreen and bug spray. I consider it a medium hike as it is not super hard but I most definitely was challenged a few times. Be careful as there are some snakes and iguanas (iguanas are fine but snakes, hell no haha). Be safe and enjoy
Eric M — Google review

For those seeking originality, there's Praia do Pereque, while privacy can be found at secluded coves like Praia Branca.
What more can you say!

Enseada Beach - a huge bay beach, fully illuminated. Main in Guaruja so it is very crouded. Walking along the beach, we saw a terrible view of rubbish. The beaches here are supposed to be cleaned by cleaning crews, BUT after staying on the beach, people leave rubbish in the place where they were sunbathing. It is not so bad when they are closed in a bag, however most often they are loose. The evening rest on the beach after sunset (around 6:30 pm), in some dry sand, begins with looking for a place free from the sight of rubbish. The ocean's view is beautyfull though

Toninhas Beach is a picturesque coastline characterized by a slender expanse of sand, adorned with an abundance of trees. This serene beach serves as a popular spot for swimming and sunbathing. Comparatively less crowded than its neighbor, the beach boasts well-maintained kiosks that cater to visitors' needs.
Beautiful clean beach with plenty of space to squeeze in even when you arrive late. Gentle waves are ideal for kids to play. With February weather being so nice, I can't complain about anything. Renting tent for a day was 150$R and parking 20$R

O may not be the best to review it for I live here but, to me, it is the best beach in Ubatuba. North side for surfers, south for families ( I have 4 kids), you have kioskes with bathroom and in the center you can get away from them and enjoy a bit of nature without any noise bothering you. To sum up... The best place for you and your family to enjoy Ubatuba.

The beach is very long but the useful space where to sit is thin because the beach is pretty much flat and the water wipes a large portion of the beach. The sand is white and very soft. Waves are not strong and indeed ideal go both swimming and surfing. Life guards are in place as well as indications for danger in the water. Parking next to the beach is not free if your driving plate is not Ubatuba: in that Case, you must pay 12 reis or you risk go get a ticket. The person you pay to will release a receipt to show in the car and which can be used in all the other beaches.

This is a beautiful beach with very few people. It's a longer drive than most are willing to make, and once you get there, you park a good distance from the beach, a walk most are not willing to make. Ubatuba is on São Paulo's north coast. Last city before Rio de Janeiro. So called Green Coast for a reason. You will get 50 shades of green. Fortaleza is the last beach accessible by car on the peninsula that goes kilometers in to the sea. Here you get fishing, trails, climbing, dives, waterfalls, wild animals and the Atlantic coast rainforest. Great Hotel called Refugio do Corsário. Where boats stop to enjoy the beautiful cristal clear water or hide from storms. No waves good for kids. Trails from the right side take to desert untouched beaches of Bonete and Cedro. Not a easy walk. You can go also by boat. Kayak and SUP are also an option.
