Sukhna Lake is a picturesque reservoir in Chandigarh, offering activities like pedal boating and jogging along its shores. It's a popular spot for photographers, with the shimmering lake framed by the majestic Shivalik hills providing stunning scenic views from sunrise to moonlit nights. The area also boasts attractions like the Cactus Garden, Rose Garden, and opportunities for trekking in the lower Shivalik Hills.
Sukhna Lake is a serene and beautifully maintained spot in the heart of Chandigarh. Ideal for morning walks, boating, or just relaxing by the water. The views are stunning, especially at sunrise and sunset. Clean surroundings, peaceful vibe, and great for families and nature lovers!

Has to be the best place in chandigarh, one of the best walking / jogging track you'd see.. lake on one side and green belt on the other.. sit for sometime and enjoy the wonderful hills in the backdrop and feel the cool breeze.. plenty of parking and a wonderful cafe..
Sumit G — Google review
I visited Sukhna Lake in Chandigarh early morning recently, and it was a refreshing experience! This man-made lake, built in 1958 by Le Corbusier’s team, is a serene spot with calm waters reflecting the Shivalik hills. The early morning vibe was magical—cool air, chirping birds, and a stunning sunrise painting the sky. The walking path was perfect for a peaceful stroll, and I loved watching locals jogging and practicing yoga. The nearby café served tasty snacks, adding to the charm. However, some areas had litter, which slightly detracted from the beauty. Also, more benches would’ve been nice for resting. Despite these, Sukhna Lake’s tranquility and scenic views make it a lovely spot to start the day in Chandigarh.

A Serene Escape and the Jewel of Chandigarh! During my visit to Chandigarh for the ISRT meeting this September, a trip to Sukhna Lake was the perfect way to unwind. The moment I arrived, I was struck by the incredible sense of peace and tranquility. The lake itself is beautiful, with placid waters shimmering against the stunning backdrop of the distant Shivalik Hills. A leisurely stroll along the clean, wide promenade was so refreshing and offered a wonderful escape from the city's hustle. The atmosphere was calm and rejuvenating, and I could see why it's such a beloved spot for locals and tourists alike. Sukhna Lake is truly the jewel of Chandigarh. It was a highlight of my trip and is an absolute must-visit for anyone seeking a moment of peace and natural beauty
Sohaib A — Google review
I have been visiting this place and it remains an incredible destination to relax and reconnect with nature. Sukhna Lake, a serene reservoir at the foothills of the Shivalik Hills in the Himalayas, is an integral part of Chandigarh’s planned cityscape. Even today, it stands as one of India’s most famous artificial lakes and planned city, offering a tranquil experience with still waters. Nestled at the forefront of Sector 1, the lake is surrounded by lush forests and sits adjacent to the governor’s residences of both states. The morning sunshine here is truly mesmerizing, creating a magical aura for early risers. Joggers, walkers, and yoga enthusiasts find their perfect spot along the lake’s edge to embrace the refreshing start of the day.

The Government Museum and Art Gallery in Chandigarh is a must-visit museum complex that showcases a diverse range of exhibits, including ancient and modern art, architecture, natural history, Gandharan sculptures, terracotta heads from ancient India, medieval metal sculptures, miniature paintings, manuscripts, textiles from across the Indian subcontinent and more. The museum also houses a collection of artwork by renowned artists.
I have finally discovered a treasure trove in Chandigarh. This Government Museum of art and architecture is like a hidden gem which I guess many are unaware of. A friend mentioned about this institution in Sector 10 in the passing and I decided to check this out on a weekday. The building, the presentation, the collection -- it blew away my mind. Basically there are three important buildings -- one is dedicated to Architecture, the other to Natural History and the last one is dedicated to art, paintings and sculptures. Everything is very well placed in spacious halls, very well marked and labelled. At most of the installations and paintings the descriptions are both in English and in Braille. It's so heartening to see the thoughtfulness in even the layout as ramps help in the movements of wheel chair bound art connoisseurs The charges are minimal and you can even ask for a guide. A few hours spent here is just like touching the tip of the iceberg. I guess many more trips to the various sections of the museum should be planned in order to know and appreciate our art, culture and heritage. It was so nice to see a batch of young school children being taken around -- an early awareness will help them mould well. A word for the staff -- very polite and helpful. They are certainly an asset to the museum. Looking forward to many more trips of discovery to this wonderful place

A beautiful place for knowledge, specially for kids. Management is too good and try to explain about entrance and further instructions. Location is good and details information available of human development. Tickets price just genuine. No video allowed. Safety of your language is all done by staff because no language and water bottles allowed inside. Guide available on payments if you are more interested have it.

Nothing unique; just like many other museums all over India about archaeological findings. Well maintained.
RUTVIK D — Google review
Located in Chandigarh’s Sector 10, the Government Museum and Art Gallery is a fascinating stop for anyone interested in history, culture, or art. The museum is fairly well maintained and offers a journey through different schools of art and eras — from Indian contemporary art and Gandhara sculptures to wooden carvings, miniature paintings, and coins from the Mughal and Sikh empires. One of the highlights is the Gandhara section, where intricate stone sculptures depict events from Buddha’s life alongside serene still statues. Entry is priced at just INR 30 per person, with an additional photography ticket (also INR 30) if you’d like to click pictures. Videography, tripods, flash, and extra lights are not permitted. The museum building itself has a raw, unpolished feel inside, which adds to its old-world charm. Plan your visit with enough time in hand, as the collection is vast. Some sections may be closed for renovation or remain empty, but the richness of the exhibits makes it well worth the stop. Facilities include washrooms and a drinking water filter at the back of the building. The museum is open from 10 am to 4:40 pm and is closed on Mondays and gazetted holidays. If you enjoy exploring art and heritage, this is definitely a place to add to your Chandigarh itinerary.
Amaritpal K — Google review
The Government Museum is a treasure trove for history and art lovers, housing one of the most magnificent collections of Gandharan sculptures and relics. The entry fee is ₹30, with an additional ₹30 for photography. Out of the 8 galleries, 6 were open during my visit, and each had something remarkable to offer. Highlights include 18th-century miniature paintings, canons from Guru Gobind Singh Ji’s army, old handwritten Qurans, Gurbani scriptures, and a vast collection of Buddha idols. The Gandharan art section is simply fascinating, and the miniatures are exquisite, though the lighting is kept dim, most likely to preserve these delicate works. The displays are straightforward and the labels are basic, so don’t expect modern museum-style curation, but the artifacts themselves make up for it. The museum is clean and well-maintained, with free-to-use toilets and a small publication counter offering books. A souvenir shop would have been a great addition for visitors to take back a memory. Overall, this museum is an enriching stop if you’re fond of history, art, or culture but if that’s not your interest, it might not hold your attention for long.
Gurinder S — Google review
I explored the lesser-visited sections of the museum and found some fascinating sculptures and paintings. The museum is well-maintained, but some galleries felt slightly under-lit. History and art enthusiasts will appreciate the detailed exhibits.

The Open Hand Monument, situated in the Capitol Complex of Chandigarh, is a significant architectural creation by the renowned architect Le Corbusier. This iconic 85-foot structure features a large hand with an open palm, symbolizing peace, unity, and acceptance of new ideas. Designed to represent the positive aspects of the city, it stands as a prominent landmark and embodies the theme of peace and reconciliation. It's in a high security area as its high court assembly is there. We have to take permission from authorities.

About 10 years back we could access this beautiful location freely. But in my last visit I got to know that it's restricted place now and we need to get passes at certain times of the day. Sad as I had taken a popular picture at this place 15 years ago when it was free to access location and was able to get the picture at the right moment and time of day.

Open hand Monument is the symbol of Chandigarh (peace) and I just loved this monument. It is situated at Sector 1 Chandigarh. Because high court and vidhan sabha is there, security is very tight here. You have to show your ID card to the security personnel to viait this monument. This monument has historic meaning and value. One of the few amazing facts of this monument is that it rotates 360° and the direction of the thumb shows the direction the wind.
VIVEK S — Google review
The Open Hand Monument is a symbolic structure designed by the architect Le Corbusier and located in the Capitol Complex of the Indian city and union territory of Chandigarh. It is the emblem and symbol of the Government of Chandigarh and symbolizes "the hand to give and the hand to take; peace and prosperity, and the unity of mankind". The largest example of Le Corbusier's many Open Hand sculptures, it stands 26 metres (85 ft) high. The metal structure with vanes is 14 metres (46 ft) high, weighs 50 short tons (100,000 lb), and was designed to rotate in the wind. The Open Hand (La Main Ouverte) in Chandigarh is a frequent theme in Le Corbusier's architecture, a symbol for him of "peace and reconciliation. It is open to give and open to receive". Le Corbusier also stated that it was a recurring idea that conveyed the "Second Machine Age".The Open Hand is located in Sector 1 in the Capitol Complex of Chandigarh, on the backdrop of the Himalayan Shivalik hill range. Le Corbusier thought of the Open Hand Monument first in 1948,"spontaneously, or more exactly, as a result of reflections and spiritual struggles arising from feelings of anguish and disharmony which separate mankind and so often create enemies".His passion for the hand had an important role in his career beginning from the age of seventeen-and-a-half when he picked up a brick, a gesture which led to millions of bricks being laid in later years.[8] Jane Drew felt that the symbol of Le Corbusier's philosophy should be made evident to the people of Chandigarh. Le Corbusier then perceived it as a sculptural monument to be erected in Chandigarh, the city he is credited with planning, designing, and implementing. One of his associates, Jerzy Soltan, a member of his atelier, had deliberated with him as to the type of hand to be made – whether an open hand or a fist holding a fighting device. The Open Hand became a public project rather than a private symbol when Le Corbusier planned it for the city of Chandigarh, where his associate and cousin Pierre Jeanneret was then working as chief architect and town planning advisor to the Government of Punjab, and was supervising the construction of Chandigarh. In case his preference for Chandigarh to erect the sculpture was not accepted, he had thought of an alternate location: the top of the Bhakra Dam, the 220 metres (720 ft) high dam in Nangal in Punjab.[8] He had planned to erect the Open Hand against the scenic background of the Himalayas. He called the location he had selected the "Pit of Contemplation" (Fosse de la Consideration). The design was a huge elevated object (a wind vane), which was an "inspirational symbol of humanity unarmed, fearless, and spiritually receptive". Le Corbusier had discussed this project with the then Prime Minister of India Jawaharlal Nehru when he had visited India in 1951. He had also written to Nehru, saying that since 1948 he had been obsessed with this symbol of the Open Hand which he wished to erect at the end of the capital (Chandigarh) in the foreground of the Himalayas. Nehru had concurred with the concept. In his letter to Nehru, Le Corbusier expressed a view that it could also become a symbol of the Non Aligned Movement (NAM), an idea that Nehru mooted although ultimately it was not adopted for NAM. Later, for Le Corbusier, the project had remained linked with Nehru, and on the occasion of the 75th anniversary of Nehru's birth in 1964, he was invited to submit something for a "celebratory volume". Le Corbusier forthwith sketched his concept of the Open Hand, for it was his recurring dream which had obsessed him for six years (prior to 1954). In the sketch, he conceived the Open Hand as a 26 metres (85 ft) high sculpture which would rotate with the wind and would shine with colours such as yellow, red, green, and white in the foreground of the mountain range.Above the sketch he inscribed, "La Fin d'un monde" (The End of a World).

The Le Corbusier Centre, located in Sector 19-B, Chandigarh, was once the workplace of the renowned architect Le Corbusier. It is a historic building that holds a large collection of old documents, sketches, and photos showcasing his work as the city's chief architect. Visitors interested in urban planning, architecture, and design will find this center appealing.
This place is usually less crowded. And it's a must visit for the Art and Design enthusiasts. This is the iconic place where Le Corbusier designed the iconic city of Chandigarh. You get to know about the history and the thought that went behind building the city. Sadly this model was never multiplied in India. The place also has a open garden cafe, a little pricy but decent food.

I visited the Le Corbusier Centre in June 2025, and it was such a serene and enriching experience. After living in Chandigarh for over 30 years, I was surprised at how much I didn't know about the architectural vision and the incredible story behind the city’s creation until I explored this place. The centre offers a quiet, thoughtfully curated look into Le Corbusier’s work, his connection with Chandigarh, and the planning that went into building the city. It’s both peaceful and deeply insightful and a must-visit for anyone who lives in or visits Chandigarh. Highly recommended!

Ok ok place...it will take hardly 10 mins to summarize the place.. of you are a doll lover then only you can spend more time over here... they charge 20 rs extra for photos if you have to click on your mobile... I didn't found it that much worthy.. depends on person to person...

Located inside bal bhavan. It was like haunted place inside, in this INTERNATIONAL DOLL MUSEUM most of the dolls are dirty, few are broken, ventilation is very poor, no air conditioners or coolers were there, water bottles are not allowed inside Washroom was clean but no hand wash provided. Ticket price was 20 rs per head. Not recommended to visit.

Very good place to be with kids. I visited here on International Daughter’s Day with my daughters. They really liked this place. We had very less time to properly see this place but they have a good collection of dolls from across the boarders. We realised that the kids all over the world think same way, they all need someone like them to play with but that someone should be under their control and there comes the DOLLS. Staff was cooperative. They charge very nominal price for adults and free of cost for kids to visit and see the collection and separate charge around 20/- only for clicking pictures. This place is very neat and clean but the collection is not well maintained. It seems like some of the dolls are kept at the same place since years. There dresses are torn off and there hair are gone. By standing there we felt the dolls inside were not taken care of properly and even boxes, rackse were not cleaned. In my opinion the authorities must intervene and allot some regular funds and fix some guidelines for the regular maintenance and updation of this place and also allot some bigger place or expand the museum so that more dolls and kids could be accommodated and can have the cultural exposure of different countries and regions of our country along with our old as well as tribal traditions as well. Overall it was a good place and must visit at least once with kids. Thanks to the staff and authorities.

While the garden is beautiful and well maintained; it feels very mechanical, just made for the sake of the city because the city is like the cities abroad. Garden is big and if you want to spend some peaceful time, then only you should visit.

Visually Stunning & Well-Maintained • The garden is meticulously landscaped with carved lawns, flower beds, fountains, and pathways—ideal for photography, reflection, or just soaking up the scenery. • Multiple reviews highlight the serene ambiance and cleanliness: “The Rose Garden is a breathtakingly beautiful place spread across a vast area… exceptionally well‑maintained, with lush greenery and a clean, serene atmosphere.” “Calm, serene, clean and green… soothing… Well laid out green areas and the pathways… a dedicated kids zone… fountains… amazing variety of roses of course…”

This is undoubtedly the best gardens in Chandigarh city. Located very close to the sector 17 ISBT and sector 16 cricket ground, this garden is the perfect place for morning or evening walks. If you are into bodyweight exercise workout i.e. Calisthenics, this is the place for you.. You can see people starting to come here as early as 4:30-5 AM. There are many varieties of roses grown according to the season. Overall landscape is very well maintained. There is a fountain area as well here which needs to be managed a little better as it's not functioning most of the time now. It's got decent parking, well connectivity and big area. There are functioning public toilets and drinking water as well. Whether you are fond of roses or not, whether it's blooming season or not, this place definitely deserves a visit..

From the moment I entered, the atmosphere was electric – passionate fans, vibrant colors, and the buzz of excitement in the air made it a truly memorable experience. The stadium itself is world-class, with excellent seating arrangements that offer clear views of the field from every angle. The facilities are top-notch, including clean restrooms, a variety of food and beverage options, and smooth entry and exit points that made the whole experience seamless. What impressed me most was the organization and hospitality. The staff were courteous, helpful, and ensured everything ran smoothly. Security was well-managed, and even with a full crowd, things felt safe and under control. Watching the match live, surrounded by thousands of enthusiastic fans, gave me goosebumps. I recently visited the cricket stadium and had a great time! The energy of the crowd was fantastic, and I loved the way they were cheering on their favorite teams. The music system was also very good, with clear and powerful sound that really added to the excitement of the game. The only downside was that the music had to be turned off at 10pm. While I understand the need for noise regulations, it was a bit disappointing that the music couldn't continue throughout the entire game. Even so, the atmosphere of the stadium was still amazing, and I had a wonderful experience overall.

This was my first time watching an international match in a stadium. It did live upto the hype of watching the players who I have only seen on television till date. It was a dream come true. About the stadium, facilities could improve a little bit more seeing as the match was of international standard. Good services need to be more robust with more options so that one can happily enjoy the game while not worrying about what to eat.

Historical landmark
The Tower of Shadows, also known as the Shadow Tower, is a remarkable architectural structure in Chandigarh, India. Designed by the renowned architect Le Corbusier, it stands as a testament to his innovative approach to sun control and study of solar movements. This historical site is part of the Capitol Complex, which includes imposing concrete buildings like the High Court and Secretariat. The tower's purpose was to create shade and allow for natural ventilation while showcasing captivating shadows created by harnessing natural light.
The Capitol Complex has distinctive features that make it recognisable in my eyes; the three pillars of democracy of the High Court; the distinguished Open Hand and its deep amphitheatre; the colourful entry gate of the Palace of Assembly; the sun diagram on the Geometric Hill; and the monkeys on the Tower of Shadows. Speaking of, I admire Le Corb’s artistic expression, to study light and shadow and implement them into the Capitol Complex while planning the city, is symbol in itself. However, despite the admiration of his art, the Complex does occupy expansive space that seem unnecessary, apart from a grandeur aesthetic.
Cherry J — Google review
The Tower Shadows is one of the four monuments at the Capitol complex designed by Le Corbusier The structure is designed in such a way that during Summers no sun light enters it and during winters it is full of warm sunlight It casts shows in different lengths

The best thing for all the architects, who want to understand the techniques and angles of Fins. This structure give you a clear idea that how Le Corbusier created an envelope around his buildings to protect it from direct sunlight.
Sami A — Google review
The Tower of Shadows, part of Le Corbusier's architectural ensemble in Chandigarh, is a minimalist masterpiece. Its stark design and strategic placement demonstrate Corbusier's innovative exploration of light and shadow. The play of sunlight creates ever-changing geometric patterns, offering a dynamic visual experience. The tower's simplicity is deceptive, concealing a thoughtful study of elemental forms and their impact on human perception. As an experimental space, it remains a testament to Corbusier's avant-garde approach, provoking contemplation on the intersection of architecture and the sensory experience. The Tower of Shadows stands as an enduring symbol of Chandigarh's architectural experimentation and modernist legacy.
Bethany L — Google review
The Shadow Tower, Capitol Complex. Le Corbusier constructed it in such a way that not a single ray of sun enters it from any angle (specifically in summer). The north side of this tower remains open because the sun never shines from this direction. Le Corbusier used the same principle for other Capitol Complex buildings as well. studies of sunlight are clearly in evidence in many of the Indian projects ,the most consummate example of this approach is without question that made for the Tower of shadows, also known as the ‘Tower of 4 horizons’, with which Le Corbusier graced the esplanade of the Capitol at Chandigarh. Like the Open Hand and Monument to the Martyrs, the Tower is a symbolic attribute of the Capitol and has no specific function. Le Corbusier described it as ‘a very open hall, very high and shadowy’, its sombre atmosphere intended to invite meditation 🧘‍♀️.It can also be seen as a sort of manifesto for the brise-soleil, demonstrating, as the architect noted, ‘that the sun can be controlled at all four cardinal points of an edifice and even manipulated in a hot country to reduce temperatures’ .

The Capitol Complex Tourist Center is a remarkable destination nestled within the sprawling 100-acre government compound in Chandigarh, India. Designed by the renowned architect Le Corbusier, this UNESCO World Heritage Site showcases his architectural genius through iconic structures like the High Court and Secretariat, alongside the striking Open Hand Monument. Visitors can immerse themselves in guided tours that highlight not only these stunning buildings but also their breathtaking backdrop of the Shivalik hills.
This is a welcome addition for many of the locals who may never have seen the very discreetly done wonderful work that has put Chandigarh as part of the UNESCO world heritage list. Although I visited in sweltering weather, try scheduling a spring/autumn/winter visit to see a spectacular part of the city. Entry free but by appointment as a lot of this area isn’t open to public and you need to provide ID proof.

📍 Capitol Complex, Chandigarh The Capitol Complex of Chandigarh is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and part of “The Architectural Work of Le Corbusier.” Designed by the legendary architect Le Corbusier, it reflects the spirit of modern India. 🇮🇳 It includes the Legislative Assembly, High Court, Secretariat, and the iconic Open Hand Monument — a symbol of peace and giving. Most Indians don’t even know this is a World Heritage Site! Free guided tours are offered three times a day by the Chandigarh Tourist Information Centre — at 10 AM, 12 PM, and 3 PM. We joined the 12 PM tour and were the only two Indians, while the rest of the visitors were from abroad. 🌏 Each tour comes with a knowledgeable guide who explains the architecture, history, and unique features in detail. We even got to enter the Punjab Legislative Assembly, where photography is not allowed, but the interiors are absolutely stunning and scientifically designed. Experiencing the perfect blend of history, architecture, and modernity here is truly unforgettable! 🌿

The staff were lovely but it was so disappointing we could not enter/even get anywhere near the buildings. We only saw 2/3 of the main buildings as court was on. Online reviews instructed us to visit on weekdays in hope of actually entering the buildings. We travelled from the U.K. to visit and had even emailed to ask if this was a good time to come. Very disappointing

Jayu — Google review
An absolutely incredible place… mind-blowing in its vision and grandeur, with spectacular details and thoughtful design throughout. The highlight was entering the government chamber: no photos are allowed for security reasons, but the moment we stepped inside was breathtaking. I think everyone audibly gasped. Chandigarh may be a relatively small city of about 1.5 million people, but it holds one of the world’s greatest modernist masterpieces of public infrastructure, still in use today. The tour itself is free, which is remarkable, though I almost wish they charged tourists, perhaps 1000 rupees for foreigners, so the income could support the upkeep of the public spaces, the visitor centre and promotion of the city for tourists. Longer tours of different areas at a higher rate, or even a well curated small gift shop with books and design objects, could also provide valuable revenue. I would have happily contributed. Nevertheless this place is special and the tour was brilliant. You do need to book in advance (something we hadn’t realised), but after emailing, we received a quick response and permission to join. I feel genuinely honoured to have visited, and it was absolutely worth making the trip to Chandigarh - what a brilliant city almost unheard of outside of India.

Nek Chand’s Rock Garden of Chandigarh is a mesmerizing destination filled with mosaic courtyards, sculptures, and pathways made from old crockery. This lush garden is a testament to art and culture, offering visitors an immersive experience in its magical artworks. The garden features impressive artifacts spanning from the Middle Ages to contemporary art. Visitors can also explore themed gardens at Leisure Valley and enjoy a boat ride at Sukhna Lake during sundown.
Visiting Nek Chand’s Rock Garden in Chandigarh was an experience unlike any other — a perfect blend of creativity, art, and sheer dedication. This unique garden, spread over several acres, is entirely made from waste materials, broken ceramics, and industrial debris, transformed into mesmerizing sculptures and installations. Walking through it feels like stepping into a world of imagination and ingenuity. The first thing that strikes you is the sheer scale and intricacy of the artwork. From life-sized animals and human figures to abstract structures and winding pathways, every corner of the garden is a visual treat. Nek Chand’s vision of turning discarded materials into something beautiful is not just inspiring; it’s a celebration of creativity and sustainability. One of the most fascinating aspects of the garden is the maze-like layout, which makes exploring it feel like an adventure. Each turn reveals something new — intricately designed bridges, fountains, and miniature villages crafted entirely from scrap materials. The attention to detail in every sculpture is astonishing, reflecting both patience and a unique artistic perspective. What impressed me the most was the story behind the garden. Nek Chand started this project secretly in 1957, and today it stands as a testament to the power of vision, perseverance, and love for art. It’s not just a garden; it’s a living museum that captures imagination and creativity in the most unexpected way. The atmosphere is serene yet playful. Walking through the garden, I felt a mix of wonder, admiration, and joy. It’s a place that sparks creativity in everyone who visits, reminding us that art can be found — and created — anywhere. In short, Nek Chand’s Rock Garden is a must-visit for anyone visiting Chandigarh. It’s more than just a tourist attraction; it’s an inspiring tribute to human ingenuity, creativity, and the beauty of turning the ordinary into something extraordinary.

The Rock Garden in Chandigarh is truly a must-visit. The creativity and effort put into making sculptures and structures from recycled and waste materials is incredible. It feels like walking through an open-air art museum, with every corner offering something unique and surprising. The pathways, waterfalls, and hidden sections make it a fun experience for both adults and kids. It’s well maintained, and spending a couple of hours here is absolutely worth it. A perfect spot for photography, exploring, and appreciating art in nature. Definitely a highlight of Chandigarh and highly recommended.

If you have leisure time then you can visit this place with family and kids. I found it a little boring. You need atheist 2.5 hours to see the place and get some good clicks. Recommend for kids mostly.

**An absolute masterpiece!** . The Chandigarh Rock Garden is truly one of the most unique and creative places I have ever visited. Created by the visionary Nek Chand, this garden is a stunning example of art, imagination, and sustainability. The entire place is built using waste materials, broken ceramics, glass bangles, tiles, and other discarded items, yet it feels magical and full of life. Every corner is filled with fascinating sculptures, winding pathways, waterfalls, and hidden chambers that make you feel like you are in a different world. The creativity and effort behind every detail are truly inspiring. It’s a perfect spot for photography, leisurely walks, and exploring with family and friends. The combination of art and nature here is simply unmatched. If you are in Chandigarh, the Rock Garden is an absolute must-visit – a place that proves beauty can be created from anything!

Nice place to go. If you understand art, its a nust visit place. Its peaceful and calm. Try to avoid on a sunny and hot day. Mornings are best time for this place. There is lack of maintenance from administration, i found it a little neglected, there was no restoration of damaged pieces and no repair for broken artifacts. There was a lot of allege on walls on some places.
Rohit K — Google review
The Rock Garden of Chandigarh, created by Nek Chand, is one of the most fascinating places I have ever visited. It is a beautiful blend of creativity, art, and imagination. What makes it so unique is the way waste materials, stones, broken bangles, tiles, and discarded items have been reused to make sculptures and figures. Walking through the garden feels like exploring a completely different world, filled with surprises at every corner, The pathways are designed in such a way that you keep discovering new sculptures, waterfalls, and little open spaces that make the place lively and artistic. It is not just a garden, but almost like a magical city of art built from things people usually throw away. The idea itself is inspiring, and it shows how much dedication and hard work Nek Chand put into creating this wonder, I personally enjoyed the sections where human figures and animals are made from stones and ceramics. The waterfalls and small bridges inside the garden add to the beauty and make it more refreshing, especially if you are visiting during the day. It is also a very popular tourist attraction, so you will see people from all over India and even abroad enjoying the place, The only reason I am giving 4 stars instead of 5 is because some areas of the garden are not very well maintained. A little more attention to cleanliness and upkeep would make the experience even better. Despite that, it is definitely worth visiting at least once in your life, Overall, Nek Chand’s Rock Garden is a symbol of creativity, dedication, and vision. If you are in Chandigarh, this place is a must-visit. It will leave you amazed at how waste can be turned into something so beautiful.
Navatej S — Google review
It was my first visit to the Rock Garden. While entering, we felt as if we were going into a cave because of the narrow pathways, which created a lot of curiosity and excitement in the park. The use of broken bangles, ceramic pieces, and old ceramic electric bulb holders stood out, forming artistic monuments and walls. The waterfalls created a natural and refreshing atmosphere. The environment inside was very clean, and for kids, it is truly an attractive and enjoyable location.
SHIVU Y — Google review
The Rock Garden Chandigarh is a 35 acre eco-friendly garden, built solely by home waste and other Industrial items. Sculptures are created using items such as bangles, ceramic pots, tiles, bottles and Electric waste. Garden is a mixture of Landscape, architecture, sculpture and mythology. NEK CHAND, founder of Rock Garden, started creating this garden secretly during his spare time in 1957. The Layout of Garden is based on the fantasy of a Lost Kingdom. It has 14 different chambers like the forecourt. The Teej festival, when the Rock Garden assumes a festive look, holds a special attraction for tourists. MAJOR ATTRACTIONS PHASE 1:- Toilet fixtures, broken glass pieces and broken tiles have been used to create figures of humans and animals PHASE 2:- Once you enter you will feel entering a small traditional Indian village representing beautifully carved huts, temples pathways etc. PHASE 3:- It’s inspired by Roman architecture; swings are hanging for people to enjoy the beauty. Waterfall, Aquariums where we can get glimpse of fishes wandering around. Open Air Theatre:- An open seating ground with stairs. Laughing Mirror Display; Camel and Train ride. Must visit to Dolls museum. Souvenir Shop. Food Court

It is an awesome place. This museum was formerly known as Museum of human evolution. It is such an amazing museum where you will know how the earth was born and evolved till today, how human evolved and how dinasaurs evolved and destroyed. The sculptures are damn amazing and realistic. A must visit place.
Deepak J — Google review
The Natural History Museum in Chandigarh delivers a thoughtfully curated journey through prehistoric life, evolution, and natural science. It's a highly recommendable outing for families, students, and curious minds. Just a couple of hours are enough to soak in the highlights, but if you're particularly drawn to paleontology or geo-history, you might find yourself digging deeper into the fascinating details. Strengths: Rich and varied exhibits spanning billions of years of life, human evolution, and geological phenomena. Unique cyclorama and tactile experiences make it particularly compelling for families and students. Affordable pricing and family-friendly policies. Considerations: Smaller compared to national museums; some displays are traditional and may lack interactivity. Certain displays might be sensitive for very young children.

I visited the Natural History Museum in Chandigarh with my family and kids, and we had an absolute blast! The museum is a treasure trove of knowledge, with an impressive collection of fossils, dinosaur skeletons, and exhibits on human evolution. The ancient artifacts and displays showcasing the history of life on Earth are truly fascinating. What I loved most was how educational and engaging the museum is, making it perfect for students and kids. The interactive displays and informative signs kept my little ones captivated, while I enjoyed learning about the region's culture and history. The dinosaur section was a clear winner with my kids - they couldn't get enough of the towering T-Rex and Triceratops skeletons! The museum's efforts to make science accessible and fun are truly commendable. If you're in Chandigarh with family or students, do not miss this gem. It's a great way to spend a day learning and exploring together!

Not as good as it used to be earlier, maybe because it was my second visit here or because renovation work was going-on & some sections on the ground floor were closed. But earlier when I had visited here in 2009, as a kid, I had really enjoyed seeing all those dinosaur skeletons and fossils. They need to upgrade the museum & make it more interactive with the use of latest technology like the ones in delhi. As compared to the National Science centre in delhi, it is really lagging behind in use of technology.

Punjab and Haryana High Court Chandigarh, a courthouse designed by Le Corbusier in the 1950s, features three building-height pillars in vibrant colors. The exterior polychromy is enlivened by the brise-soleil of the Courts of Justice and the grand entrance portico's three pylons coated with cement rendering to be painted green, white, and red-orange.

The Advocates are professionally well versed. But due to the massive crowd, the Parking Area is problematic and as a result the Uber Cabs avoid accepting the booking & hence everyone has to walk a lot. The only solution is to have separate Courts for Haryana in Panchkula itself, or else things will be unmanageable.
Subodh T — Google review
Another of Le Corbusier's masterpieces and part of the Capital Complex - situated at the head of Chandigarh. Chandigarh was Indias first post colonial city and the Indian government wished to make a clear statement as to how modern and forward looking the new country would be. le Corbusier was engaged to effectively design the layout of the whole city including the large public buildings that forum the Capitol Complex. The concrete brutalist architecture is not to everyone's taste but I thought the buildings were stunning. As with most courts members of the public are able to enter the building and individual court rooms. It is however only possible to enter the whole Capitol Complex as part of an organised group.

Judges are there for making fair decisions and help public. People have high hopes from high court. Indian prisons have almost 90%of innocent people while other corrupted rich criminals are walking free. They say "we have heavy work load" if this is the case then work properly during your business hours instead of having long breaks or coming late or leaving early. It's not easy for public travel from other states just to see emply seats and hearing stupid excuses. Judges are people we can trust ; but what will happen if they ask for bribe to give you justice. This is happening to us. We are waiting for hearing for past few years, every single time judge moving hearing to next date and next date and next date.

The museum mainly focuses on Le Corbusier, the architect behind the city. There are old drawings, photos, and models that show how much planning went into creating this modern city. The displays explain how the city layout was planned with open spaces and organized traffic. It was cool to see how these ideas were aimed at making life easier and more organized for the people living there. The museum also touches on why these design ideas are still important today. For anyone curious about city planning or architecture, this place is worth a visit.

Located within the same complex as the Government Museum & Art Complex, this is a jewel of a museum for those interested in architecture and urban planning. Entry tickets is ₹10/person and another ₹10/person for photography. The museum and its exhibits are spread out over three floors and the stairs are not too steep. I loved learning how Chandigarh was designed by an American and a Polish American duo. The High Court Museum is a pool of knowledge for history buffs that showcases important historical court records from different periods in the country's history. The exhibits include rare stamps and handcuffs from the assassinations of India's Prime Ministers, as well as other significant events.
A truly monumental precinct in vision and execution. Pictures absolutely don't prepare you for the sheer scale of the precinct as a whole or the buildings as individual structures. It was particularly humbling to know that such a singular vision was created by Le Corbusier.
Eric D — Google review
Though still worth a visit, this museum is in need of an update (or honestly, even an enterprising young student willing to re-do the low quality faded graphics). A mix of court history and exhibits featuring the architectural background of the High Court building.

I continue to be amazed at the good ratings people give museums both out of date (this one seems to have 'stopped' in 2006) and visually uninspiring. The descriptions attached to pictures of the inauguration are laughable eg. "At Lunch". Even looking at every meagre offering, a 15-25 minute stay would be generous. This museum has almost nothing in it about the raison d'etre for Le Corbusier's design of the High Court, and only has a few documents and images on the wall relating to historic judgements and changes to the law in its sphere of influence and activity. NB: looking at other guide's reviews, I suspect they are commenting on the actual High Court and not the museum.

This is a little museum with several little artefacts with great historical significance. If you're a lawyer and interested in the history of Indian judiciary, you'd love the place. The only issue I had was that there was no way to turn pages and look beyond the page they set several books and documents to in the glass display box. I wish they offered at least an electronic display of all the pages. They also had a room where they displayed how a court used to be back in the day, and it was really fun to see.

The impressive infrastructure adds to its charm, making it a great place to explore even if you're not shopping. The mall offers wheelchair ♿-accessible parking 🅿️ for both two- and four-wheelers, along with clean and well-maintained restrooms. This mall is a great place to hang out, shop, and grab a bite. It has a good mix of stores, from fashion to electronics, making it a convenient spot for shopping. The food court offers a decent variety of options, so there’s something for everyone. The place is well-maintained, clean, and has a nice atmosphere. What I like the most is that it’s not too crowded, so you can roam around comfortably. It’s also a good place to chill with friends or just take a break from the day. The movie theater inside is a plus if you want to catch a film. Parking is usually manageable, though it can get busy during peak hours. Overall, this shopping spot is a solid choice if you’re looking for a relaxed shopping experience. It’s not the biggest mall, but it has everything you need without feeling overwhelming. Whether you’re shopping, eating, or just hanging out, it’s a nice place to spend some time.

PVR City Centre IT Park, nestled within DLF City Centre Mall in Chandigarh's IT Park, offers a premium cinematic experience. The theater boasts curved screens and Dolby Atmos sound, enhancing movie-watching with immersive visuals and audio. Seating options include Classic, Prime, and Recliner categories, catering to varied comfort preferences. The ambiance is clean and well-maintained, with cooperative staff ensuring a pleasant visit. However, some patrons have noted extended advertisements before movie screenings, which can be a drawback. DLF City Centre Mall complements the theater with a range of shopping and dining options. The mall houses both international and local brands, providing a diverse shopping experience. Dining choices are varied, from fast food outlets like McDonald's and KFC to cafes offering local flavors. The mall also features entertainment facilities, including an indoor gaming zone and occasional live events, adding to its appeal. Home Design Software While the mall offers ample amenities, some visitors have pointed out that certain showrooms remain unoccupied, and parking is paid. Despite these minor issues, the combined offerings of PVR City Centre IT Park and DLF City Centre Mall make it a favored destination for entertainment and leisure in Chandigarh.

it's a great place with a wide range of shops and entertainment options, but there were a couple of things worth noting. On the positive side, the mall offers a diverse selection of showrooms related to food, clothing, and shoes. This variety is convenient for shoppers looking for different items in one place. The highlight for me was the PVR cinema. It's a fantastic option for movie enthusiasts as it provides a quality cinema experience at reasonable prices. However, I did notice a couple of drawbacks. During my visit, I observed that some showrooms were closed. This was a bit disappointing as I had hoped to explore a wider selection. Additionally, the mall has paid parking, which meant I had to spend extra money on parking my vehicle. In conclusion, this mall is a versatile destination for shopping and entertainment. It caters to various needs and offers a range of shops and an affordable cinema experience. While the closed showrooms and paid parking were minor inconveniences, they didn't significantly impact my overall enjoyable experience. I recommend this mall to anyone looking for a convenient place to shop, dine, and enjoy a movie all in one location.

Sanjeev is a very knowledgeable, professional guide who is also a lot of fun. He took us on a tour of Delhi, Agra and Jaipur. He is a great guide and can get you in to places no one else can get you in to. We got a coveted visit to the Presidential Palace! He is super friendly and tailors the tour to your needs. I couldn't recommend him more!

Son of Le Corbusier, guy who will open all the doors even the impossible ones and explain everything you need with endless wisdom and enthusiasm. For architecture lovers and people who can appriciate Le Corbusier and Chandigarh there is no better person to go with.

Sanjeev is a good guide and amazing person. He did his best in every point of our tour through India. Professionalism, empathy and great sense of humor. I will recommend these architectural tours to my colleges, family and friends. Thank you!

Sanjeev Sharma surely knows his way around Chandigarh. While touring, he's dedicated, creative and enthusiastic, showing and telling about the city and its buildings, people, habits and History. For a full week, we had the privilege of getting to know different sides and aspects of Chandigarh by his hand, assisted by precious and friendly Roshni Yadav. We would recommend his services without hesitation to any friend or colleague who would go visit the City Beautiful. Namaste! जल्द ही फिर मिलेंगे!

Sanjeev was found and booked by our travel agent. Good luck for us! He knows so much about Jeanneret and Le Corbusier! But especially the ways he takes and the access he gets to all the places is marvellous. If you are into architecture and Le Corbusier: Sanjeev is the right guide.

It was real pleasure to have Sanjeev Sharma as a guide and look around Chandigarh. He is really passionate about the city, Let Corbusier, Pierre Jennaret and has some amazing facts, pictures and stories about the development of the city. He managed to show around places even though it was a public holiday, which we a group of three really appreciate as we only had a day to look around. I would highly recommend him if you want to have an architectural perspective on Chandigarh.

Fortress
Manimajra Fort, with a history spanning over 360 years, is a must-visit historical site in Chandigarh. While not the most grandiose in terms of structure, it has gained popularity among tourists and history enthusiasts after being featured in the Oscar-nominated Hollywood movie, Zero Dark Thirty. Although access to the interior is restricted, visitors can still appreciate its architectural significance from the outside.
While on a shopping trip to Mani Majra market accidentally stumbled upon this old fort right in the middle of the bustling bazaar. The fort is magnificent in spite of it’s crumbling structures. I was told that some hit Hollywood movie was shot here. Wonder why the UT administration doesn’t promote it as a heritage and a tourist spot.
Kundan P — Google review
It is a private property , you can not go inside. I came here in hope to see the inside looks , people have posted pictures of here. DO Not visit here. The auto Drivers said yes the fort is open all day. While reaching there it was locked.

Its not exactly a review by me. But am very very curious i mean honestly I used to study in a school nearby this fort when was in class Ukg or Lkg now am going to be 40 in another 2-3 years. School name as much as I remember was "National Pride model school" jaha tk yaad h muje. School ek dum samne tha and morning assembly is fort ke ground mei hoti thi. Stairs lgi hui thi iron rod wali un pr se hokr jate the. Even had a school function too in that ground where I performed. And I remember our Principal Sir used to reside in this fort with his family. See was very young at that time but whatever I shared I clearly remember. Is there anyone who can relate if so please share. It was around 1992-93 jitna yaad hai.

Good intact fort walls. There is a family staying inside the fort and they don't allow visitors inside.
Vijay M — Google review
Although we were not able to enter the premises but the place is worth a visit from the outer part of the building only you can feel the greatness and aura of the royalty the construction and size of the fort is neither too small not too large but it's an great piece of architecture. I wish that the legal stay over the fort will be waived off soon and this fort will be open for public.
Jaspreet S — Google review
It seems to be a place connected to some deep history and an extraordinary past. The fort is in a ruined state and not cared of now but its having a story that is untold and the locals might help you in this. The fort is a big one and with open spaces. Outside its gate is the heavily packed streets of Manimajra that are narrow and rushed. In this menace the fort keeps on to be unnoticed and forgotten. Thank you

Hindu temple
Mata Mansa Devi Bhandara, located in Panchkula near Chandigarh, is a revered Hindu temple dedicated to Goddess Mansa Devi. Positioned atop the Shivalik Hills, it offers breathtaking panoramic views of the surrounding landscapes. Pilgrims flock to this spiritual site seeking blessings and wish fulfillment from the goddess. The temple holds great significance in Hindu mythology as it is believed to be where the head of Devi Sati fell.
I recently visited this temple as I was visiting India and found it to be a place of peace and serenity. However, one thing that deeply moved me was seeing many children around the temple, some of whom seemed to be homeless or in need. These children were begging, and while I understand it’s a complex situation, I encourage everyone visiting to show compassion. Perhaps you can buy them food or engage with them kindly, rather than turning them away, as I saw many others do. Since coming home, I can’t stop wondering about their future—are they getting the education and support they need to break the cycle of poverty? If anyone out there can help these children—whether by supporting local initiatives or creating opportunities for them—please do. I’m writing this review in the hope that together, we can make even a small difference in their lives.

Mata mansa devi temple is such a good place for worship 🙌. It is one of the prominent Shakti temples of North India. Navratra festival is celebrated in the mandir for nine days. Twice in a year millions of devotees visit the temple. Shardiya Navratra mela are organized at the shrine complex during Chaitra and Ashvin months. Every year two Navratra melas are organised in the month of Ashvin (Shardiya, Sharad or Winter Navratra) and other in the month of Chaitra, Spring Navratra by the Shrine Board.
