The National Trust - Birmingham Back to Backs offers guided tours of four fully restored historic houses, providing a glimpse into the changing life between 1840 and 1977. These back-to-back houses were once common dwellings for Birmingham's working class during the Industrial Revolution. The museum showcases the living conditions and lifestyles of the city's 19th-century working class, making it a unique and fascinating destination for those interested in social history.
My visit to the Birmingham Back to Backs was absolutely fantastic and a truly immersive experience! I was completely captivated by the stories and history brought to life in each house. The guides were incredibly knowledgeable and passionate, making the past feel incredibly present and real. It's a truly unique and wonderfully preserved piece of Birmingham's heritage, offering a poignant glimpse into bygone eras. I left with a much deeper appreciation for the lives of those who lived there. Highly recommended for anyone wanting to step back in time and connect with history!"

Absolutely fantastic place to visit. It's a guided tour and the guide explains about each room/ house and its history. Did the full tour which involves going up some narrow spiral stairs but there are banisters and handles to help. Our guide Ross made our visit memorable. You must book. Can not recommend highly enough.
Shouston_ — Google review
Wonderful place to go to learn a bit of recent history how our grandparents lived. And there are absolutely amazing volunteers (tour guides). Totally recommend to go but mind that you need to book for a visit in advance. The groups are small but time slots are every 20 min.
Yevheniia S — Google review
The Birmingham Back to Back houses are quite a fascinating place to visit. It is a National Trust site, so is free to members, although booking in advance is a must! Built in 1801 the guide will talk you through all of their history, from time of first occupation, up to the 1970s. The tour takes round about one and a half hours. There are many steep and narrow staircases, so not recommended for anyone who are not too steady on their feet. I was amazed at how people lived back then. So tough, and very hard work on a day to day basis. Incredible when you compare it to todays luxuries we all take for granted. Wasn't all bad though. The community spirit was strong, and something I would certainly savour now. I highly recommend this visit. Our guide John was very knowledgeable, enthusiastic and happy to answer any amount of questions. I loved it!
Rob C — Google review
We visited the Back to Backs on Saturday 27 September 2025. The tour was very interesting, our guide gave the background to each of the houses that we visited, and the familes who lived in them through the different periods of time. The tour lasted 90 minutes, and was well worth the visit
William A — Google review
This place is simply exceptional. The best National Trust we have visited, and we have visited many. The thing that made this so special was our tour guide Neil. He gave great passionate knowledgeable descriptions in every single room and made the experience come to life. I was cautious of a 90 minute tour with an eight year-old. However, the information that Neil gave kept her entertained and to be honest it felt like a 45 minute tour at most. Since visiting back to back, I have recommended this to simply everybody I know. This is obviously a sign of how much I enjoyed it, but also how much it’s surpassed all of our expectations. Well done to the National Trust team here, including all of the volunteers.
Jamie C — Google review
Wonderful experience going back in time at different periods of local life, our benefit was the brilliant tour guide Wayne who with his extensive knowledge and stories brought it to life. You will have to pre book the tour and check access has there are quite a few stairs to climb

Excellent place! If you want to understand working class living conditions in the 1830s, 1870s, and 1930s this is a must. Very informative guided tour. Reservation must be made in advance.

Cadbury World is a popular family attraction located in Birmingham's southern district of Bournville. It offers a self-guided exhibition tour showcasing the origins of chocolate and the history of Cadbury, the UK's favorite chocolatier. Visitors can explore interactive displays about chocolate-making and learn about Cadbury's legacy as the country's first established chocolate manufacturer. The tour includes attractions such as magical Cadabra rides, a 4D Chocolate Adventure zone, and free chocolate samples for all guests.
An amazing experience at Cadbury World with my family. It was way beyond my expectations, with the price paid, you get free chocolate bars, walked through the chocolate making tour, history of Cadbury, free freshly made chocolate with toppings, 4D cinema, hands-on chocolate tempering, interactive ride and outdoor playground, superb for kids in primary school. Two hours nicely spent and the kids thoroughly enjoyed it. Would recommend and would return again in future! It was a pleasant experience. The price might seem a bit pricey but at the end you will think it is worthwhile for the experience offered.
Raymond K — Google review
Lovely experience. It was a wonderful time, spent around 2 hrs. The best part was the 4D movie which was just wow. And then the avenue was the good experince. If could show more about how chocolates are made nowadays then it would be more interesting. I have seen cadbury making process in a different country and that was more into the process making, so thats what a gap was I feel... rest everything was an amazing experience. It was my best birthday present.
Vignesh K — Google review
Its not a very big place, but informative and there were things to do. We also got a taster cup of chocolate, it was nice. Saw a demo about how the chocolate was made. Unfortunately when we went the rides were not working and my child was so disappointed! The ticket was not cheap, so all the rides should work properly!
Stefani W — Google review
Would be better if you had kids. Overall nice experience if you’ve never been, lots of history and memorabilia but other than that just cinema screens showing animations that you have to que for every section. ‘Free’ chocolates are less than they use to be which used to be the best part. Lots of opportunities to upsell photos, rides, drinks, food, gifts.
Sasha W — Google review
It was heart warming to know the history of Mr. Cadbury, his struggles and triumph. Their design and way of story telling is awesome. Kids will enjoy the rides and play area. There is some for adults too. Don't forget to buy chocolates at a discounted price at their shop.
S H — Google review
I visited Cadbury world in Birmingham on a weekday as I predicted this to be a little quieter than a weekend which it was. I managed to get a few snaps of the factory as you take a trip an a good history lesson of the beginnings all the way to present day. I like the tour and I think it’s pretty cool, especially seeing the chocolate makers on the ground floor making the chocolate fresh and shaping these for souvenirs to buy or for special events coming up. The gift shop is also pretty cool and worth a visit, having some cool novelties you can buy and take home with you. HOWEVER, for being a chocolate tour, the ride was not working when I was there, which was disappointing. Also, you only get 2 free bars of chocolate included in your tour visit, which is a little ridiculous considering that you pay a decent price to go.
Did T — Google review
A place that offers information, fun filled activities and entertainment. Booking tickets in advance is must. It will save you a trip and money. Arrive by about your time of entry, they let people queue and enter in batches. The tour begins with a historic display of cocoa production and evolution of chocolate while it travelled across the world. Then the first chocolate shop and birth of Cadbury, some stories of the family and how they ventured into this business. Followed by the making of chocolate, staffs demonstrating the process and later you get to do it by yourself. Inside they also sell some crazy structures of chocolate. Then you get entertained by 4D movie, dwelling into the world of characters Cadbury has introduced. Followed by a nice exhibit narrating the story of Bournville village and a fun filled ride where you collect the ingredients (virtually) to make your own chocolate. If you may have forgotten to collect something, don't worry you can buy them from their store that has EVERYTHING CHOCOLATE!!! A one of its kind place to engage all age groups. You get some free chocolates on entry and can buy more at exit. There is a cafe inside this building. Parking available. Cloak room is only for large luggage bags. Enough numbers of toilets available in intervals throughout the tour.
Parinita A — Google review
Visiting Cadbury World was enjoyable. Upon arrival at reception, the employee informed us that there were no tickets available and did not mention that we could book them online. There were more details regarding online booking. Overall, we enjoyed the experience and the tastings.

Bullring & Grand Central is a modern and iconic shopping destination in Birmingham, featuring a diverse range of high-street fashion, household shops, and restaurants. With over 140 different shops, it has its roots in the Middle Ages when it was used for the city's first markets. Visitors praise the variety of shops and the overall shopping experience. However, some feel that the dining options are limited compared to other centers.
We stopped off here on our way back from Scotland to pay our respects to Ozzy, have a look around, and get some lunch. We ended up doing a bit of shopping too. A great experience it had to be said
Jon M — Google review
The Bullring & Grand Central is so extensive that you’ll probably need a full, energized day to truly explore everything it has to offer. From high-street fashion to designer brands, restaurants, and cafes, the shopping and dining options feel endless. Outside, you’re greeted by the city’s icon, Ozzy the Bull, a must-see landmark and popular photo spot. What makes the experience even better is the direct link to Grand Central station above Birmingham New Street, making the mall incredibly convenient for both locals and visitors. With its mix of shopping, food, and city buzz, the Bullring & Grand Central is more than just a mall — it’s the centrepiece of Birmingham life.

So having arrived in brum by train we went to explore the ode bullring. I tell you what pal but the place was absolutely heaving for saying the weather had taken a turn for the worse and it was raining, the city is definitely a sleeping giant! We joined the many blues, sky blues, villans and old golds in checking the place out. I tell you what pal but I've never seen a primark or primarni as I call it so big, this bad boy of a store had 4 floors with a cafe, a greggs and even a pre loved section! It really was inspirational and I've not seen or been in another primark like it anywhere it really is an eye catcher baby massive kudos! Had a nosey in the body shop and I tell you what pal but the ode sugar pumpkin 🎃 section was absolutely banging it was a beautiful scent, hand cream, shower gels the full shebang people were going mad for it, reckon this stuffs the new best seller in brum land and the lady working there loved a good natter she was a good egg pal! Ended up getting a my cookie dough from one of the pop ups. It wasnt cheap pal, but i went with the cookies and cream with ice cream and oh my god pal talk about yummy yummy in my tummy or what. It was massive and very tasty indeed pal, I'll let you into a little secret but im sure I put 4 pounds on eating that bad boy! Walking back to the ode train station we were greeted by ozzy the mechanical bull, what a creature, what a construction all 33ft of him, definitely worth a look 👀 The other thing i noticed round ozzy, it absolutely stunk of wacky backy to the point that when I got back on the train my head was nearly touching the roof I was that high on the whiffer! Alot of trains cancelled today however no problems for us and we managed to get 2 seats together on the return journey but again that was a little bit whiffy as someone kept letting tommy squeakers off. A cracking day out though and definitely a sleeping giant there 😴 keep up the fantastic work you brummies 👏

This is a must-visit destination in Birmingham.
Abdulsalam P — Google review
it’s lovely, i like taking a stroll around and it’s never too busy, a lot of parking too and it’s just a nice chill spot to do window shopping, it’s funny how you have to go outside to get to another side of bullring sometimes but it’s nice. very unique.
Faizan ( — Google review
The Bullring dates back to the fifth century where the first stall was opened to sell coffee and doughnuts to wandering peoples practicing Germanic Paganism. At the end of the Roman Empire Christianity had failed to grip the imagination of the bods of Mercia as they worshipped the likes of Thor, Odin, and Tyr. The doughnut sellers had to ensure they had sufficient stocks as failure to supply may have determined that they be sacrificed, both human and animal offerings were presented to the gods. Over the years the Bullring grew, shop by shop, until it became the second city's biggest outlet. Please note there are still multiple sellers of doughnuts in the venue, honouring the sixteen centuries of sweet treats munching.

Located in the heart of the city, Ikon Gallery is a renowned art museum showcasing exhibitions by global contemporary artists. The gallery's unique concept involves transforming its space every few months to accommodate new exhibits, offering visitors an ever-changing experience. With a diverse range of mediums such as sound, film, photography, and sculpture, Ikon presents internationally acclaimed artwork and hosts events and workshops to engage with the Birmingham community.
Loved it ! The (free entrance) space is really great with two floors of exhibition including a social space which has that giant drawing social table which is filled with so much of the visitors drawings. Peaceful place. Access by stairs and elevator possible. Nice little souvenir shop at the ground floor. Very friendly staff. The exhibition on at the moment on friendship is very interesting (brace yourself some pieces can be challenging to grasp) with varied media types.

I think that this gallery probably has a relatively small collection and their reliant on visiting artist exhibitions for the majority of what they show. Arts are very personalized and you may really enjoy the current exhibit. It wasn’t a very good match for me. I would recommend that you. Check the website before you make the trip to make sure it’s going to be something that you’ll enjoy. There is a lot of construction in downtown. Birmingham and parking is really a bit of a nuisance. The gallery is free

Donald Locke exhibition at the Ikon Gallery 😁 First time at a his cool gallery 😁 Easy trip getting to and great design with both old and modern architecture 😁 The exhibits really stand out on the white walls 😁 Knowledgeable people in attendance who were willing to discuss the artwork. Fascinating exhibition 😁 Great little bookshop too. Free entry but donations gratefully accepted 😁

This beautiful spot is a hidden gem in the city—lined with cherry blossom trees that create a stunning canopy of pink petals. It’s the perfect place to take a peaceful stroll or relax on a bench while soaking in the vibrant, serene atmosphere. A must-visit during springtime!

I recently visited Ikon Gallery in Birmingham for the exhibition What Did You Want to See? by Mahtab Hussain. The exhibition offers a poignant exploration of Birmingham's Muslim communities, addressing themes of surveillance and identity. Hussain's photographic works, including intimate portraits and images of local mosques, challenge stereotypes and highlight the resilience of these communities. The gallery's minimalist design provides an ideal setting for the contemplative nature of the exhibition. Overall, it was a thought-provoking experience that deepened my understanding of the complexities surrounding identity and representation.

Birmingham Museum & Art Gallery is located in a historic Victorian building that has been a prominent feature of the city since 1885. The museum boasts an extensive collection, including the renowned Pre-Raphaelite collection with over 2,000 remarkable pieces such as oil paintings, tapestries, stained glass, and ceramics by celebrated artists like Edward Burne-Jones and William Morris. Additionally, visitors can explore artifacts like the Staffordshire hoard.
Birmingham Museum & Art Gallery is truly a gem in the heart of the city. The building itself is stunning, blending history and architecture beautifully. Inside, the galleries are well-curated with a wonderful variety of exhibitions, from classical art to fascinating historical collections. Everything is laid out thoughtfully, making it easy to explore and enjoy at your own pace. The atmosphere is calm and inspiring, perfect for spending a few hours appreciating culture and history. The staff are welcoming and knowledgeable, always ready to guide or answer questions, which really adds to the overall experience. The museum is also very well maintained, with clean facilities and comfortable spaces to sit and take it all in. What I loved most was how the museum offers something for everyone – whether you’re interested in art, history, or just looking for a peaceful and enriching day out. It’s a place that makes you appreciate the heritage of Birmingham while also connecting you with global culture. A must-visit for anyone in the city!

It’s a place that deepens your appreciation of Birmingham’s heritage while also connecting you with cultures from around the

The building is really mislabeled. There’s one room with Art which may have 20 canvases. One of them is quite a nice place but otherwise if you’re coming for Art, you’re not going to find anything that you want. On the other hand, if you’re looking for a museum with a great coverage of the history of Birmingham, the top floor of the building has a very excellent series of exhibits on this topic. That’s not why I came here, but I did enjoy it quite a lot. If you have kids, there’s a dinosaur exhibit on the lower floor. I think it’s 9 pounds for adults and free for kids. Otherwise, the museum is free. There’s a nice coffee shop.
Lon W — Google review
The museum was outstanding. Very clean, staff were very knowledgeable and friendly, and very considerate when providing assistance, especially to those with additional support needs. There's portable chairs behind the doors, a great personal touch when you're spending a few hours in there. I visited from Manchester to see the Ozzy Osbourne exhibition, the Made In Birmingham exhibition, and paid in to see Giants whilst I was there. Highly recommend and will be returning in the future. Gift shop was great, with lots of different quirky items connected to the exhibitions.

Great exhibitions. Highly recommend the Giants exhibition. Makes you reflect on how small humans are compared to these massive creatures. Lots of stairs, lifts, and seats, so very accessible. I love the 'The Elephant In The Room'. I wished it was a larger exhibition. Go as soon as it opens on the weekend. It gets very crowded. It's always best when you appreciate art when you have an unobstructed view of the piece.

Library of Birmingham is a modern, 31,000-square-meter building located in the heart of the city. Opened in 2013, it stands out with its unique exterior resembling a wedding cake. The library features 10 floors connected by elevators and escalators. At the top, visitors can explore The Shakespeare Memorial room, a historic wood-paneled space from the old library that is now available for events like weddings.
An excellent and stylish city library, a must see when visiting Birmingham. Lovely top side outdoor seating with great views and garden islands. Well maintained throughout. Lovely atmosphere. Sees many visitors. Lots of study areas. Would have benefited for some cosy seating for a longer stay to fall into a book. Used as a business hub for contacts and resources etc. has clean toilets available. Great location. Its free.

The relatively new library is architecturally beautiful but I’m knocking off a point because the Library closed its cafe. When you send long spells in a library it’s helpful to be able to get a drink. In the British Library there are about four or five cafes on site which enables you to work, take a comfort break and return to researching or studying. Not sure why the second city’s main public library doesn’t have this important feature. I also think the business section could do with more resources and event to support businesses and business start up. That said, staff are helpful and professional. It’s easy to take out or renew memberships. I love the light and airy space on each floor and the statement elevators. The roof top garden is beautiful and a great amenity space on a warm day for us to catch up on phone calls. Again I may have remained there if I could have gotten a drink. Instead we leaf after two hours just to get refreshments.

I visited the Library of Birmingham today. Last year, there was a lovely water feature just outside the library — a great spot where kids could play and cool off. I checked several times this year, but unfortunately, it hasn’t been turned on at all, which was a bit disappointing. That said, I did discover a small children’s play area at the lower level of the library that I hadn’t seen before. It includes sand, water, wooden toys, and natural materials — a very fun and creative space for children to enjoy. Great to see the library offering more for little ones, but I really hope the water feature returns soon!

The largest public library in the UK, Birmingham library is a great place to study. They have a large selection of books- academic, fiction and non-fiction self help books. You can also listen to audio books if you have a membership of the library which is relatively easy to get. The staff is always helpful with information relating to books and other related topics. You can find and reserve a book online on their site. They will find the book in their and other libraries and keep the book aside for you for a period of time. Having a cafe would be good given that you’d want to take a break from studying. Nevertheless it’s a beautiful place and a must visit from those outside the city. The balcony gives an amazing view of the city. 💖

Library of Birmingham – Modern, Inspiring, and Full of Character The Library of Birmingham is one of the city’s most stunning landmarks, combining modern architecture with a peaceful atmosphere for reading and learning. The terrace gardens and rooftop views are must-sees — perfect for relaxing or taking photos of the skyline. Inside, there’s a great mix of study spaces, archives, and exhibitions, with the Shakespeare Memorial Room being a real highlight. It can get busy and the layout takes a little getting used to, but the staff are friendly and the space feels welcoming to everyone. A true gem in the heart of Birmingham — ideal for book lovers, students, and anyone looking for quiet inspiration.

The library is beautiful! As a tourist, it is a wonderful place for anyone coming to Birmingham. On the top 2 floors, there is a beautiful terrace with lots of flowers and benches to sit on. There is an exhibition that explains the history of the library. I recommend taking the elevator up and turn down by the escalators. As a student, it is a great place to study, do your homework, it has internet, very private spaces, you can get your membership card to request books. It is a great place for group study or even to read a book.

Amazing place to visit I love the design of the facade and interior design, the view fr the terrace this is the best library I been to in the UK

Beautiful, grandiose, and modern. I got a bit confused with finding which floor the fictional books where. It has a massive collection of educational books. If you are a student, a researcher, or curious intellectual, it probably has what you need. The spiral floors are lovely to look at. Sit down and admire the view. Read a book and relax. See the secret garden on the 7th floor and admire the view. Go to the top floor and ponder about Shakespeare.

Aston Hall is a stunning Jacobean-style mansion located in Birmingham, UK. Built in 1635, it boasts period rooms that offer a glimpse into the past and has hosted famous visitors like King Charles I. The hall also bears partial damage from the English Civil War. Surrounding the mansion are scenic gardens perfect for leisurely strolls. Additionally, occasional special events are held on the grounds, making it an engaging destination for history enthusiasts and nature lovers alike.
It's hard to believe this beautiful, serene place is only an eight minute train ride from Birmingham New Street. Its a great historical building; each of the rooms look stunning and the gardens are well cultivated and maintained. I was here on a hot summer Saturday afternoon (the last weekend of June)., and was surprised it wasn't very busy. Yes, there were other visitors around, but it never felt crowded. Maybe the £10 admission fee is off-putting to some? The visit here was definitely worthwhile and felt like a tranquil oasis from the crowded Birmingham city centre. The volunteers are very knowledgably of the building's history and the gardens are a great place to relax after touring the rooms withing the grand hall.

Aston Hall was our wedding venue. It's a fantastic building, full of character and wonderful spaces. While booking was a bit of a faff, the staff on the day were excellent and did everything to make the event run smoothly while still being great fun, including accommodating a harpist and two bands. We had canapes on site that were also superb. If you're looking for somewhere a little different, Aston Hall is highly recommended.

Visited mid-morning on the first Saturday of half-term. Spectacular site, easy to get to using public transport. Entry price was reasonable, leaving you on a self-guided tour of the rooms. Best part was easily the volunteers, they were keen to answer any questions you had, and will take you on tours of parts of the building not accessible to the public without a guide - the attic spaces were particularly interesting, lots of ghost stories! Great for anyone from history geeks (like myself) to casual tourists to families. Can't believe a gem like this is just in the middle of the city!

Birmingham Town Hall, located on Paradise Street and the west side of Victoria Square, is a stunning example of Roman Revival architecture. Constructed in the 1830s, it has a rich history as a venue for classical and contemporary music performances. Despite its tragic construction history, it now hosts an exciting array of concerts and events catering to diverse audiences. From jazz to rock and classical music, the hall's programming reflects Birmingham's evolving demographics.

Saw the show about Sun Records set up by Sam Phillips in 1952. He discovered Elvis. The guys who took the part of Elvis, Johnny Cash and Jerry Lee Lewis were fantastic. Quite a plain interior, the Town Hall is all very clean. Is a bit chilly in the auditorium. Has two bars, serves coffee too. It has excellent acoustics..the most important feature. I was allowed to dance rocknroll in the space between the seats but not in the aisles.

I generally prefer smaller sweatier standing venues, largely I guess because I prefer the bands that play those venues. That said, Birmingham Town Hall is my favourite seated venue. It looks gorgeous inside & out, acoustics are fantastic, staff are the friendliest & most helpful of any venue I can think of. Bar & facilities pretty good. Great location too!

A great venue. Went here for a Sufi Music concert, very good sound acoustics although the sound guy could have increased the treble a little. It is not very big, when compared to for example the Barclaycard Arena- but that is a good point because it means even if you buy a tickets quite far back you can still see the stage.

Even though I'm a "Brummie" I don't actually remember visiting this building as a child. Close your eyes and you actually think you are back in the Roman Forum standing before the Temple of Castor and Pollux on which this building was based. It was closed when I visited, raining outside but still amazing to behold. Among the many artists Paul Robeson, the African American polymath and equality campaigner performed here to raise funds back in 1939.

Sarehole Mill Museum is a restored 18th-century working mill located next to the River Cole and Moseley Bog in Birmingham. It offers hands-on demonstrations, guided tours, and Victorian bakehouse exhibits. The mill served as inspiration for Hobbiton in The Lord of the Rings, making it a must-visit for Tolkien fans. The annual Middle Earth Festival celebrates Tolkien's work with re-enactments and themed experiences.
Following the footsteps of the greatest author in the world, we ended up at the Sarehole Mill, a place that had a large impact on JRR. Tolkiens life and works.

Took my Year 4 class there to visit as part of their Geography field trip. The children loved it, gave them some knowledge on how to measure the water depth, the purpose of stepping stones to regulate water flow and they also cross link it to their science lesson (living things and habitats) where the children asked questions about the various plants by the river. Children got to fish and learn about different lifeforms in the river water. Staff were great, knowledgeable and patient! Would be interesting for fans of J.R.R Tolkien (he lived in the house opposite Sarehole Mill)

Such a hidden gem! The museum is mostly about Tolkien and his life in Birmingham which is very interesting as an LOTR fan. When you reach the actual mill part and all the structures, everything is a perfect picture of the past, it’s amazing how well preserved it is. Also the staff are lovely! It’s a bit tricky to get to and the opening hours are limited, also sadly their tea room is closed at the moment, but it is worth a visit, especially alongside a walk around the pond which is very pretty.

Very nice and cute museum about Tolkien's childhood and inspirations. I was very surprised to find out how rural Birmingham used to be!

My husband and I, being Tolkien fans, were definitely excited about doing this tour as part of our visit to Birmingham! Our initial research into the museum and the mill set us up to expect a nice tour of the mill, an intimate look into the years that Tolkien spent at the mill, and the pizza at the café. The first two items (the mill and the Tolkien trivia) were an amazing experience! We definitely recommend this tour to anybody who wants to visit a good old run down watermill simply to see the works, or if you're a Tolkien nerd as well! Our tour guide was Ash, and he was marvellous! The tour lasted about an hour, during which he took us through the floors of the mill, explaining in immersive detail what milling was all about back in the day, occasionally treating us to a bit of insight into Tolkien's life back when he lived around the mill. The third aspect that we were looking forward to (the pizza) was unfortunately a big disappointment. Not only was it mediocre at best, we also had to wait over an hour just for our order to be taken! (No, it wasn't that crowded. They were "backed up" with another order apparently.) So after over an hour of waiting to place an order (during which time we had filled up on tea and cake because we were just sitting there hungry and waiting), and then a wait of about 20 minutes for our pizza to arrive, we were quite disappointed with what we were served. In summary: definitely do the tour and take your time exploring the park and the trail, and the mill area.

It's an enjoyable short day out in the fresh air for a family with young children. You can book a guided tour of the Mill, which is about 30 minutes max, and afterwards explore the nearby park and Moseley Bog. We took packed lunches because the cafe is not open at the moment. We stayed from 11am until 3pm.

I have been to the mill a few times for the pizza pod experience and it has always been great! Highly recommended to anyone looking for a bit of an escape from the mundane city ( in the city) for a bite to eat and to relax. They also have a selection of soft drinks available, not licence for alcohol though. The mill its self is a wonderful charming place.

Awesome experience, amazing staff!! They have designated talk and feed times for penguins and otters, so you could enjoy that. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Specially enjoyed the penguins. Would have given a 5 or even more if otters were close instead of on screen. However I understand and appreciate that they need to adapt first to this environment before exposing them to public. Overall, it was a very fun experience and Happy Weekend instead!!

There is a helpful little tip for visiting - in the corner of the gift shop there is a lift back up to the toilets. These are back at the beginning of exhibition so you can head round again to pick up any bits you missed! It is a great half day out with the kids. The centre feels like it could do with some updating and refresh on some of the side activities but the exhibits are all great, and the feeding / talk times flow quite well through your visit. The staff are all super friendly and helpful, our daughters especially loved the roaming pirate!

It was am awesome experience! I'll be honest when I first went in, I thought it was quite small, however it is extended at the back so it was indeed quite spacious. Easily took us 2-3 hours to explore the entire place at a slow pace with a 5 month old. The penguins were adorable at the start, the amount of fish in each aquarium space was quite adequate. I did wish we could see the otters though, only managed to catch s tiny glimpse in the room at the far back. The area with the jellyfish was so mesmerising. There were different photography stations located at multiple areas. You could take photos at each station, and at the end you could choose which pictures you'd like to buy and what package. Overall there was a lot of cleanliness, tanks were clean, the walkways were clean too. We ended up going at a busy weekend, but still could easily manage to get around with a baby pram. There was however a pram parking area, if you will, to store the prams if you'd rather do that. Definitely worth a trip.

Had a lovely visit here on Saturday, wasn't too busy and no wait to go inside. We booked it in the morning through our Merlin passes and there was plenty of admission availability. So many things to see if you take your time, but it's easier said than done. Lot's of talks going on throughout the day, we really wanted to watch one of them but there was too much pushing and shoving from other adults and didn't want my child getting trampled on. Some better crowd control would be ideal at the talks/feeding times. Nice gift shop at the end with plenty of stock and very lovely staff.

Good for a one time visit. Gets busy and cramped with the crowds but nice variety of fish and aquatic life to see. The tunnel at the end is the best and provides a nice visual experience where you get to see underwater from all angles.

Visited the National Sea Life Aquarium with my kids and we had a beautiful, exciting time. It was such a delight discovering different aquatic creatures—there’s so much to see and learn! The only downside for me was how crowded it was. Maybe it’s just the holiday season… maybe not. Either way, it was a bit too packed for my liking. Also, I was a little disappointed to learn that the big sharks are no longer there—they were apparently removed a while ago. That said, the kids didn’t seem to mind and had an absolute blast. Overall, a delightful experience and we’ll definitely be back—hopefully during a quieter period.

I have never been to a liquid zoo before, I am 30 and my fiancé is older, we had the BEST time! We loved the penguins and the fish, we had photo opportunities and they came out perfectly. Yep my fiancé was taken from me by a beautiful and friendly penguin! The staff were kind and lovely! It’s not hot or cold in there, it smells lovely, the lights are dim so we can see the sea life better. At the gift shop we each got something and I got a mini penguin for my kitten! We were able to collect our tickets from the box office speedily, enjoying a reasonably priced drink at one of the many bars at the waiting areas, pre-ordering a drink for the intermission. We had side balcony seats which gave us a fantastic view of the stage and orchestra, the acoustics and lighting were phenomenal. The staff were incredibly pleasant, hardworking and helpful. What a fine concert experience to see the wonderful Boomtown Rats Saturday. Fine and friendly staff, effective signage, and a view par excellence. Crystal clear sound quality, so this great band connected with my eyes ears and above all heart.

Only one criticism. Some of the seated areas have very limited leg space, which is more noticeable during longer performances or shows. Due to long lines of seats with limited leg space and no access isles; everyone has to stand to allow someone in or out, after people have sat down. This also makes me question what would happen if there was an emergency requiring evacuation. How would that go? Not well I suspect, and certainly, accessibility for those with walking aids or wheelchairs would not be viable for these seats (though I'm certain that there will be other, specific areas where accessibility has been considered). Also another more minor issue... Drink/snack holders would be nice, though I appreciate this is not always considered appropriate at these types of venue. Other aspects of the venue were exceptional. Spacious, clean, well designed, well staffed. Friendly and helpful staff. Facilities were also of a good standard. Also I should say the crowd were excellent. Everyone was friendly and considerate, and excited or happy to be there. It was truly a joy to experience.

The hall itself is nice, comfortable seats, and the sound acoustics were great. The event itself was good, with a clear screen and an absolutely stunning orchestra. Slight disappointment that they didn't play the cantina band song live, and the queues for the bar at the interval were long which meant we ended up not buying a drink. Regardless, it was fantastic and the orchestra were definitely the stars of the show! I'd definitely go there again for future events!

The recent refurbishment of the 1960s transport hub in Birmingham has resulted in a significant addition to the city's landmarks. AZPML's renovations have created a structure that mimics the undulating imagery produced by moving trains. This design language is consistent throughout every aspect of the building. As part of an initiative by Birmingham's Hidden Spaces, a competition has been launched offering select individuals the opportunity to tour the new street tunnels and discover hidden historical treasures within Birmingham.
It is a very nice place to go to, The staff are nice. Many platforms feature many trains. Hard to do spotting considering it's such a big place! Endless food and drink areas inside with it being attached to the ballroom making it even better. 5* for everything and anything. No negatives at all!

Fabulous station, huge site, bang in the Centre. Access to shops galore, plenty of coffee joints. Toilets cleaned, many hi viz staff floating about. Very busy, I have noticed the trains closing fairly early before departure. Very strict, they will not open doors. Arrive upto a minute earlier than departure otherwise you will miss your train. Enjoy your trip to Birmingham. Love the Bull absolutely humongous. Well worth a visit just to check him out. Rustic presence.

Big modern looking station offering train services to many places around the UK. There is plenty of places to eat from, ranging from sit down meal choices to a sandwich on the go. The train station has multiple display screens/boards giving travel information and trying it's best to keep it updated when delays crop up. This isn't always the case, so don't be afraid to ask staff for assistance. All the staff we encountered were helpful. This is a super busy station, if it's your first visit it can feel like you have landed in an airport terminal but everything moves well and you are soon able to pop to the bathroom, jump in a taxi outside or walk to your next destination. Lastly if you are a cat lover, there is a cat cafe on the top floor. It's not well advertised, hence we missed it.

Birmingham New Street Station has twelve platforms, each is sub divided into A, B, and C, giving thirty-six areas where the choo-choos pull in to pick up and drop off passengers. There are no bins or toilets in any of these areas, I kid you not. It's large, it's impersonal.

A fantastic, iconic British football ground with a good amount of facilities. I attending the Back to the Beginning event here and the whole experience was incredible.Access into the ground was fairly efficient and all the staff were friendly and helpful. There are several routes to get to and from the ground and I was back at my hotel less than an hour after the concert finished.

Attended for Guns n Roses gig. The staff were polite and efficient, and made sure people were sent through quickly, facilities were managed well despite the number of people. Drinks and food were served quickly. Prices for food and drink are not too bad considering the venue.

Had a ticket with hospitality (12:30 kick off) and the breakfast choice was fine for a veggie - eggs, mushroom, vegan sausage, fresh fruit, yoghurt. Coffee bloody awful and one of the bar staff didn't know what soda water was. Stadium great

Always been a villa fan so I'm biased maybe, but i honestly think this is one of the best stadiums in the country! It hasn't lost its soul and is still iconic, did the stadium which was brilliant and money very well spent!

Can give complements for arrangements (as visited only once for #gunsnroses concert. Clean, convenient, good navigation, quick entrance and exit. Plenty of options for food and beverages. It was a nice touch that staff offered free water to people at the entrance.

Attended recent back to the beginning final black Sabbath show. Staff and security were friendly and helpful. Food kiosks were a little slow serving though when busy (and beer prices not the worst but still a little expensive).
Stuart M — Google review
For Guns and roses. As you would expect it was a very busy place. Entrance was through the football turn styles by showing my phone to a small screen, which proved difficult when passing it backwards so my partner could use it. No help from the security team. Seating was the same chaos, No help from the stewards, just a point in the general direction for your seats. Seating was tightly packed and confusing to find. As for the sound it was dreadful. A bad echo from the opposite side of the grounds made it impossible to hear the music correctly. It's built for football not live music.

Winterbourne House & Garden is a charming destination for those who appreciate cultivated gardens and historical architecture. Situated on the University of Birmingham's campus, this 7-acre garden and Edwardian house offer a delightful escape for visitors. Once the residence of the influential Nettlefold Family, it now stands as a testament to the English Arts and Crafts movement. The house has been meticulously preserved, allowing visitors to step back in time and admire its classic interior decor.
What a gem of a place so peaceful to walk round the lovely gardens. There’s a bridge to walk over with a stream/pond and very large leaves from some of the plants. We had a walk round the house which was nice to read and see how the Nettlefold family lived the years there. Was a nice restaurant that served nice food, has it was a nice hot day we sat on the terrace enjoying the views. Plus I can’t believe this was 20 minutes away from where we live. If you get the chance go and pay a visit. 😊

Lovely gardens to wander around, a beautiful autumnal day. Every turn around the garden offered a glimpse into different areas to enjoy. Had tea on the terrace then viewed the house Definitely needs another visit
Yvonne B — Google review
First time visit to this former home of the Nettlefold family. A stunning house with several floors and many rooms all holding so much interest. Beautiful grounds with something around every corner. The woodland and lake walk was closed at this time of the year but it’s a good excuse to go back when it’s open. A lovely spacious terrace serving very good food at reasonable prices. The staff /volunteers were so friendly. The car park said to hold 50 cars is very tight if you have a mid to larger size car. I understand that there’s a good multi-storey car-park nearby. We were lucky and found a space next to the disabled parking bays. There’s an art gallery upstairs which was nice. There’s a handy glass like lift in the middle of the house. A lovely gift shop next to the cafe and a second hand book store. Check out the printing press’s in the former owners garage, lovely engaging ladies in there. A great visit and I’m sure we’ll be back.

Had a lovely day here. The house is beautifully presented and thoroughly interesting. The gardens were some of the best I've seen, and were bigger than they looked online. My mum managed well on her mobility scooter outside, and inside there is a lift for access to all floors. Definitely would recommend!
Karen F — Google review
Lovely place to visit in summer, flavour of an old British house and beautiful gardens. There is a cozy tea room to have a nice brunch and enjoy some tea. Day well spent will go again to discover more plants and botanical wonders. The parking was a hassle though as the space is quite limited, had to park far away. You can buy tickets on the spot. No real value in pre-booking.

We had the most beautiful day here in the summer. Exploring the listed house with its rich history was insightful and interesting. Walking around the vast grounds was really nice as there were different areas to see and experience. Nice to take a picnic and relax and enjoy the scenery. They also have a cafe available if you want to by lunch.

well worth a visit if you like top quality graffiti murals. good food joints and cold beers sold at various venues. I visit here each time I come to Birmingham. this country could do with more digbeths.

The service is excellent, we were well directed to suitable games and they got us in early. Unfortunately the food was diabolically bad, almost as bad as I've ever been served. We ordered an array of batterred items eg cauliflower and other bits. They were incredibly salty and slightly overdone on the outside with raw batter on the inside. Clearly someone had been heavy handed with the salt then not checked. Also the oil was far far too hot and burned the outside and left inside raw. Unless of course they were done from frozen in a hurry. We tried some of it but even though hungry left it except for our burned popcorn chicken, paid out £76 and left.
DXX M — Google review
I had a walk around here to see the Ozzy Osbourne mural. The graffiti is amazing, the vibe is really urban and gritty but there's also a lot of cool bars and restaurants. It's a short walk from digbeth coach station and a little further from the bullring. It's well worth a visit if you're either an Ozzy Osbourne/black Sabbath fan or if you just like graffiti and cool bars and restaurants! I got some nice photos but I want to return to check the area more thoroughly.

Went here today for the 'Cheese Fest at Custard Factory' and it was really good!! Lots of different good stalls and plenty of cheese varieties. Considering it was £5 ticket it was well worth it and didn't disappoint. The atmosphere was good and food stalls were lush 😍

Attended charity fundraising abseil on behalf of Birmingham Parkinson's Society, using the Custard Factory's Greenhouse wall on Gibb Street, Digbeth. Safety was to the fore, with stringent measures in place on the ground, on the roof & for every abseiler. Abseilers went up the elevator to the roof in small groups, providing enthusiastic support as one by one they went over the edge & down the wall. Excellent training & guidance provided by abseil pros. Fascinating area around the Custard Factory, with many arty cafés, restaurants & shops, the area also famous for its graffiti artwork. Original cobbles cause difficulties for those of us with mobility issues (I changed shoes 3 times) but fortunately found a small car park with a single disabled parking spot (!) on Gibb Street itself. Suggest checking parking prior to arriving in the area, a mix of narrow 1-way streets, broader streets with on-street parking, & larger car parks a little further from the centre. The Custard Factory itself wasn't open. A shame as I'd have loved to explore the history of the area further.

Not very good I'm afraid. Most if not all the little shops and venues didn't open until midday. I was there at 10am I didn't even bother to wait I just left. We eat at Sobremesa, a vegan restaurant in the courtyard at the custard factory. This is an excellent place to visit and eat al fresco. Service was the best thing about this bar/restaurant. I would highly recommend it and we will definitely be returning soon

We did the behind the scenes tour today. What an amazing place! One of the best bits of Birmingham history that we should all know about and definitely fight to preserve. It was so good to hear the origin story of the Electric and to think about all it's gone through since 1909... and it was particularly brilliant to see original features and equipment and poke around in the basement... Located near the waterworks tower, Perrott's Folly is a captivating Grade II listed building that served as the inspiration for Saruman's home, Orthanc, in Lord of the Rings. This unique Victorian structure showcases eccentricity and occasionally hosts art exhibitions with iKON Gallery. Climb to the top to admire both the panoramic view and the intriguing windows and plaster work. Despite its limited access due to fences and barriers, this site remains an excellent destination for admirers of Tolkien's work.
Perrott's Folly is a 29-metre (96-foot) tall tower, built in 1758. It has been suggested that the towers of Perrott's Folly and Edgbaston Waterworks (just round the corner and also worth a look) may have influenced references to towers in the writings of J. R. R. Tolkien, who lived nearby as a child. It's an interesting place to visit - although access inside seems limited to the occasional community access project. I'd definitely take a tour if it was available and check out the views which must be spectacular.
Paul M — Google review
Nice to check out if you are in the area but there is not much to actually see. It has fences and barriers around it. You can still imagine how it inspired Tolkien.

Built in the open Rotton Park by John Perrott in 1758. Perrott's Folly, also known as The Monument, or The Observatory, is a 29-metre (96-foot) tall tower. It is Grade II* listed. Perrott's Folly, alongside the Edgbaston Waterworks tower (along the road), is believed to have inspired J.R.R. Tolkien's Two Towers in The Lord of the Rings. The tower is now managed by Re.Future Collective, a Birmingham based Arts and Architecture Collective.
James C — Google review
Doesn't seem like it's open to visitors. Can't expect much, as a tolkien fan I was happy to finally see it for myself. A really nice write up on the two towers is on the birmingham city council website.
Alvan — Google review
The towers of Perrott's Folly and Edgbaston Waterworks Tower are on the same Waterworks Road in Edgbaston. Three listed buildings either side of Monument Road in Birmingham. These are 3 historic buildings, would have visitors, from all the corners of the world to visit on Saturdays or Sundays or during the summer.
Nigel S — Google review
A very unusual place to see and a gem of Victorian eccentricity. There are sometimes art exhibitions here with the iKON Gallery, so look out for these. Go to the top and see the view and also the curious windows and plaster work. This tower and the one nearby at the reservoir inspired the Two Towers in Lord of the Rings.
Desmond C — Google review
Tolkien fans! Really nice tower to visit. Perrott's Folly is a 96 foot tower, also known as “The Observatory” situated in the open gardens of Rotton Park. It was built in 1758 by John Perrott. There are some stories to explain why the tower was built. One is that John Perrott wanted to be able to survey his land and perhaps entertain guests. Or the tower might have been used to spot animals for hunting, or that he built the tower so that he could see his wife's grave, 15 miles away. From 1884 to 1979 the tower was used as a weather recording station for the Birmingham and Midland Institute. It is now owned by Trident Housing. Along with Edgbaston Waterworks Tower, it is said they inspired Tolkien for “The Two Towers” in “The Lord of the rings”. He would have seen them regularly, as he lived in nearby Stirling Rd for a time, and used to worship in Birmingham’s Oratory, founded by Cardinal Newman, which was also very close to them.

Birmingham Hippodrome is a historic 1,900-seater Victorian theater in Birmingham, UK. It has a modern foyer and hosts a wide range of performances including musicals, ballet, opera, and West End shows. Situated near the Arcadian Centre and Birmingham's gay village, it has become known for hosting spectacular productions such as The Lion King and Wicked.
10/10 if I could vote higher than 5. One of the most well presented venues in the West Midlands, bringing audiences from across the UK. For many years, I’ve enjoyed everything from pantomimes, musicals, and dance. My first visit to The Hippodrome was as a child of 6 years old and having seen behind the scenes of the theatre as a teenager, I know how hard the team work to welcome high quality productions to Birmingham. My old recommendation is to continue to review the ticket prices to remain accessible to all audiences from all ethnicities and ages. Prices have risen steeply and it’s hard to balance profit with inclusion

Really great theatre. Plenty of toilets, so queues move quickly. Lots of space front of house while waiting to go in. Comfy seating, and leg room not too bad. Had an incredible view from row B of the circle. Very expensive though compared to other non-London theatres.

Went to see Moulin Rouge. Went in my wheelchair. We were welcomed at the entrance and directed to the lift to take us to our seats. The staff gave us a rundown of all the facilities that we could use and were already aware of my needs from my access card. This made me feel very welcome and safe. Staff took our intermission drinks orders and delivered them to us with a smile. They regulally checked in with us to make sure we were ok. Fantastic service, venue, staff and experience. Oh, and Moulin Rouge was amazing too. Will be going back.

Went to see Moulin Rouge. Lovely venue. Great show. The lifts to the top floor were not working so this could limit accessibility for some guests.

Easy to find. Great city location. Staff all helpful and friendly. Reasonably priced bar. The theatre is lovely, but pretty much zero legroom so choose seats wisely. We saw Moulin Rouge here.... excellent performance 🎭
Paul S — Google review
Really enjoyed Moulin Rouge at the Hippodrome. Great production, good sing along at the end. Not a great deal of leg room in the seats for taller people.
C T — Google review
Wonderful venue. Saw Moulin Rouge. Excellent views from seats. Sound quality was exceptional. Would like to visit more often but the traffic situation currently in Birmingham is a complete nightmare. Took over an hour to travel 2.5 miles to reach the Mailbox carpark. Not the theatre's fault but not putting myself through that again.
E B — Google review
A Fabulous theatre. One of the best we have been to. Very well organised. We also prebooked their pre-dinner dining at the same time as we booked the theatre tickets. We were so impressed by the quality of food served, the attendance by the restaurant staff was spot on. Then nipping back to your restaurant table at the break and having a pre ordered dessert and drink sat waiting in comfort, was just amazing. Would definitely book here again. It was all done so well.

Thinktank Birmingham Science Museum, located in Millennium Point, Birmingham, UK, offers an interactive and educational experience for visitors of all ages. The museum features hands-on exploration of science, technology, and innovation through interactive exhibits and immersive displays.
The think tank is a great spot for all ages. Whether you're older or younger there is something for everybody. The play area was a favourite on our visit, the kids would love to go back just for that. It's interactive and has so many different things there. It shows so much local history too which we loved. Pricing was fair and the staff were great too.
Olivia B — Google review
We visited Thinktank with our 6 and 9-year-olds, and they absolutely loved it, especially the outdoor area. It's really well set up for kids, and you could easily spend 2-3 hours exploring everything. Just a tip: that outdoor section can get hot in summer. Inside, the museum is spread across three stories, so there's plenty to see. A bonus for us was discovering that if you travel by bus or train, you can get 50% off admission! That made it even better value. Definitely worth checking out if you're looking for a fun and educational day out with the family.
Ammar S — Google review
Really great day out for all the family. Can get good discounts if you know where to look which makes it much more affordable. Loads to do. The outside water play part it especially brilliant for your kids. Planetarium comes at an extra cost but was good.
Christopher W — Google review
The family had a great time at the Think Tank in Birmingham. Whilst there's quite a bit to see and do, some activities weren't available due to tech issues hence the 3 stars. We parked at the Millenium Point Car Park and it's literally less than a 2 min walk to the Think Tank. There is a cafe which serves hot food, hot beverages and bakery items. The planetarium show is definitely worth seeing and the kids loved it. Lasts 20mins which gives the kids a good break.
Jeeten F — Google review
Just bought a family Birmingham Museums Family annual pass, great value. Went to the Think Tank yesterday with our 5 year old Grandson, he loved it - so did we! So much to see, very friendly helpful staff.
Peter B — Google review
3 hours well spent! The exhibitions are interactive and informative. I was surprised to see paper printed information peeling off the wall given the price of the ticket. The Planetarium is OK if you are new to this.
Iuliana S — Google review
Fantastic and interesting place. Every floor offers a different insight on science, evolution, technology and mechanics throughout human history. I would definitely recommend a visit especially with the kids. The Gift shop is quite expensive though! And finding parking is a nightmare.
F A — Google review
Brilliant day out for children, lots to do even with small toddlers. There's something for everyone. Only problem we encountered was the cafe being closed on the ground floor so there was no access to these toilets and we had to go back out the main entrance to use these. The seating area in mini Brum also had no coffee machines like it used to, so we had to leave to go to a coffee shop and then come back. Was just a slight hassle given the cafe was also closed.

Sutton Park is a sprawling 2000-acre parkland featuring bike and bridle paths, as well as serene lakes, making it an ideal destination for walking, jogging, cycling, and angling. With a rich history dating back to the medieval era when it was under royal ownership and used as a deer park by Norman kings, Sutton Park offers not only natural beauty but also historical significance.
Went for a 5 K jog on the recommendation of local friends. Wonderful place in the sun. Mostly tarmac paths with some gravel ones. Watch out for the cows. I have heard that there are ponies as well. Parking is free at the moment. However, where I parked, I needed to be aware of potholes in the parking areas. One nasty one on the narrow entrance road. But don't let that put you off. Get there and enjoy it in the sun.
Craig T — Google review
It’s a really beautiful park. Honestly, anyone who visits and gets a chance to try the grilled calamari here will find it worth it. The atmosphere is incredible, and it’s also right by the lake, which adds to the charm. It’s a very scenic spot. There’s a restaurant nearby in case anyone gets hungry, and overall, the park is huge. Behind it, there’s also a forest — as you can probably tell from the photo — where you might feel like you could get lost, but in reality, it’s easy to find your way back. The landscape is stunning and perfect for anyone who’s craving a bit of adventure. If I had to point out something negative, it would be because of animals like cows and others roaming around, which means there’s quite a lot of droppings scattered around. I think it needs to be cleaned more regularly so the park can reach its full potential. Even so, if you live nearby, it’s a great place to visit every weekend, especially since options are limited. In general, it just needs a bit of cleaning — maybe during the week. But overall, it’s a wonderful place to visit
Giorgos K — Google review
It's a very extensive park. The park is huge and there's a chance you can definitely get lost if you go off the main paths, but there is some signage. Nevertheless, it's a very beautiful park and great for exploring and getting in touch with nature. There was some decent foliage, but I found most off the beaten paths. Managed to capture a few photos on my visit.

I've been coming to Sutton Park for years with it being local to me. Over the last few months I've started getting keen in Wildlife Photography particularly birds. Pictured are some of the birds/wildlife I've seen on my walks recently. There have been many more. Listed are, Mandarin Duck, Blackcap, Song Thrush, Robin, Buzzard. I have seen many other species of birds, although not photographed yet

The best and highlight of my trip to Birmingham! The park is so beautiful and peaceful, it has plenty of entrances, has cows grazing and has a few cafe and restaurants in the park itself.
Bleubirdy99 — Google review
So much to see here, you can take a different direction and take in all the new sights. Plus there is kids parks, ice cream vans and plenty of parking around ❤️
Beth L — Google review
Kind of stumbled on the nature reserve park while trying to locate another park and ended up loving it. Got to see some ponies which was my first time seeing them and learnt a bit of the British history as at the 18th century and how 'Bowers' were constructed as channels to entice ducks for shooting. It’s a perfect place for hiking and jogging. I almost got lost tho😅 The land space is quite massive. Walked on a river bed which was already dried, knew from the pebbles. Totally enjoyed the walk and kicking pebbles as I went

The Barber Institute of Fine Arts is an art gallery and performance venue located in the beautiful University of Birmingham campus. The collection contains works by some of the greatest artists in history, including Monet, Van Gogh, Degas and Renoir. If you're a fan of fine art, then you should definitely check it out!
Definitely recommend it. They have a large collection, many famous artists. The staff is friendly. Nevertheless there is clearly room for improvement. The fact that many artworks are hanging tilted, not straight, that the light reflects on the frame window… not ideal. They could definitely also make it more interactive. Still a must see if you can especially as it’s free and not crowded so you can really wander around peacefully.

Went to see Blind Girl (not at main Birmingham Museum and Art Gallery), and discovered the gem that the gallery is on university campus. Well worth train from New Street to University (but quite a walk on campus).
Clive H — Google review
Absolute gem- was not expecting to see paintings and sculptures by Moore, Degas, Toulouse- Letrec, Rosalli, Monet, Van Gogh.. all without crowds and high entrance fees for exhibits! Well worth a visit and supporting through easy to use contactless donation points. Beautiful art deco building makes this, along with Winterbourne around the corner a joint favourite place to visit in Birmingham. Could do with a dedicated cafe and seating around to pull in the punters and agree with suggestions about poor lighting and tilt on some paintings but overall a wonderful local asset! Interesting scent exhibition at present too
Liz J — Google review
We went to see a couple of the current exhibitions, but one only had 4 paintings, which I would not classify as an exhibition. Entry is free though.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ St Martin’s Church, Birmingham I’ve passed this place hundreds of times but never gone in — today I finally did, and wow. What a gem! 🕊️ The stained glass windows are absolutely stunning, and the whole place has such a calm, peaceful energy. You can feel the history in the walls but it still feels warm and alive. Definitely worth stepping inside next time you’re in town — it’s one of those “how have I never done this before?” moments.

Located in centre close to the Bullring this lovely church stands proud. Warm welcome as you enter through the front doors which opens to this beautifully kepted church. High vaulted ceiling beautiful stain glass window with a very nice water fountain. Such a relaxing place to come and gather your thoughts. Was a really nice visit couldn't resist to grab a couple of snap shots of the magnificent church. There are notices not to take pictures or film inside so an apology as i had already filmed a little before reading the notice. Definitely will come back to St Martins on my next visit. Thankyou to the lovely helpful staff.

Modelangel — Google review
It's rather unusual for a house of the holy to be named after a geographical location rather than a person but St. Martin in the Moo falls into that category. Lots of people have sunned themselves in St. Martins in the Scilly Isles but it ain't named after that. More have bathed in even more sun in St. Martins in the Caribbean but it ain't that one either. You have to go to all the way to the Bay of Bengal to find the St. Martins in question. Annexed by Brittain in the 1900's before becoming part of Pakistan, then Bangladesh, St. Martins is now home to a population of 8,000, mostly fisherpeople and farmers. The island 🏝 is 9km south of Cox's Bazar-Teknaf peninsula and covers an area if only 3 square kilometres. It's a marine protected area and has a diverse marine life. It's a unique habitat for sea sponges. So why name a church ⛪️ after St. Martins? It's the only location in the world to have an underwater blue plaque, marking the house where SpongeBob SquarePants was born.

The Birmingham Repertory Theatre, established in 1913, has been a prominent cultural institution in the city. The venue, which moved to Broad Street in the 1970s, has hosted legendary actors such as Laurence Olivier and Kenneth Branagh. While it no longer maintains an in-house repertory cast, under the artistic direction of Jonathan Church, it became a leading force in Birmingham's theatrical scene.
Such an amazing theatre, because of the shape every seat has a good view. The staff are super friendly, the only downside is the cost of refreshments, a 330ml can of water was £2. Still, I need to give 5 stars though because it's such a good venue.

I've walked past and read what's on loads of times however this time stopped and booked a show. We loved Inspector Morse TV show, and this is what caught my eye, booking was so easy and ordered interval drinks. Show time was the afternoon matinee, and we arrived on time to collect the tickets and take the seats. Row E was just about perfect , close enough to hear and see clearly however to be honest the theater is small enough to sit anywhere and have a fabulous view. I will definitely recommend this place and be booking more shows.

The beautifully restored house showcases Boulton's exquisite ormolu and silver pieces, reflecting his influence on Birmingham's industrial development. Visitors can explore the nearby factory where Boulton produced various items and collaborated with James Watt to develop the steam engine. This historical gem provides insight into the life and work of one of Birmingham's renowned figures.
Lovely , quiet and relaxing atmosphere. Volunteers were very knowledgeable and I learn about many facts regarding Soho house. There were a tall gentleman with grey hair and a lady with a beautiful flower cord over the hair and they tell us different interesting things about Lunar society , about Birmingham in that time. That make me feel proud of the city I live in.The museum looks great and take us in 17th-18th century. In every room were panels where you can read about what that room shown and other few important informations. Museum are laying on ground and first floor where you can reach by using the stairs or using the lift. On the other wing by the house is a Cafe where you can have a ground coffee, tea, cakes, fruits, drinks. You can serve it in or out in the little garden. Also, anyone can enjoying doing some crafts while having a hit/cold drink. There is a little garden and also parking, including for disabled people. Despite that Soho House is located by Soho road which is a very busy road there was so much quietness and peaceful. I couldnt believe I'm just by the main road and the sounds can penetrate the peaceful and relaxing atmosphere here. I would definitely be back soon and spend more time here.

There was arty crafty stuff going on and entrance to the house was free, it was great meeting friends. There was a lovely cake for the 100th anniversary of the civic society. We lazed on the grass, watched people play croquet, dribbling football, having a good time. We didn't go in the hall but some of the guys came out in costume. It's strange that in the way there we asked people who didn't know where it was. They need to leaflet

Our guide, Ali, was very knowledgeable and very interesting. It's great to have a museum dedicated to such a important aspect of Birmingham history. We were so disappointed that the house was closed because of a plumbing issue. I have been waiting 3 years to visit during my trips to Birmingham and this time holidays did not block it. Blakesley Hall Museum is a well-preserved Tudor house in Birmingham, dating back to 1590. It offers visitors a glimpse into the city's agricultural past with its classic Tudor architecture and original fixtures. The museum is located in the suburb of Yardley and features picturesque gardens that provide a tranquil escape.
We visited as a family for the first lot of Tudor Christmas Tours and we weren't disappointed! Plenty of things to see and really immerse yourself in what life was like in Tudor times, and afterwards, for both the landowners and for the people working and living there. Our tour guide was wonderful, really knowledgeable, and our daughter loved it too. We'll be back in the summer to see the gardens in full bloom!

This place is a hidden gem. Takes you back to the good old days. Last time I came here was in primary school. A good 20 years ago. The blakesley has been maintained very well. The courtyard is free to roam and take some picturesque photos. Some many apple trees, white flowers and yellow flowers. To into Blakesley there is a £8 charge for adults and £4 (I think) for children. They also have a small shop for which you can purchase merchandises and small gifts. There's also free parking on site.

A gorgeous house with lots to see, and charming guides full of knowledge to inform. The guides let visitors in at intervals with a good introduction to the history of the house, then you're free to wander at your leisure. The house is well kept and fully furnished in the style of the day. Especially good is the family room with costumes for dress up and puppets and theatre for putting on your own productions, as well as books, and blocks for building, to keep the little ones entertained for a good while. Well recommended.

Had a lovely afternoon out for Apple day on October 3rd. They had lots of things for the kids to do and and a craft fair was on in the hall, it was brilliant. The hall itself is wonderful and there are guides there that can answer any questions you have. The building was built in 1590 but Is impeccably maintained. There's a little family room upstairs with toys and games and stuff. The stairs are quite steep and might be a challenge for some people. The site isn't massive but there's a nice cafe and a small garden to walk around. I think we will definitely go back in the future.

Beautiful house in a beautiful setting. The guides are extremely knowledgeable and are fantastic with children. The hall itself is kept very well and laid out as it would have been back then, with some exhibits kept in immaculate glass housing. There is also a café and shop which are fairly well priced and you are able to bring your own food and sit in the gardens when the weather is good. Also highly recommend getting some of the lavender goods which is grown on site.

It is a lovely place with an enticing choice of cafes and restaurants. We enjoyed a coffee and toasties at the Black Sheep cafe. Advertised as 'coffee not just for girls'. It was a lovely tasty blend. It was very nice. Lovely service and plenty of seating .

I hadn't been here in years, as there are much better steak restaurants in the city now. Somebody wanted to see the great views. Adequate service, nice steaks. The food manager needs to check himself. He has some attitude. Lovely views from the corner table. I thought they would have dropped the £10 charge for sitting by the window 😃by now.

This is a stylish canalside hub that blends shopping, dining, leisure, and workspaces in the heart of the city. Once a Royal Mail sorting office, it now houses high-end stores like Harvey Nichols, the boutique Everyman Cinema, and the chic Malmaison Hotel. The BBC studios add prestige, while restaurants and cafés along the water create a relaxed, atmospheric vibe. Its sleek, contemporary design feels clean and welcoming, making it a popular spot for both locals and visitors. The canalside views are especially memorable at night or during events. Whether for shopping, dining, or a hotel stay, the Mailbox offers something for everyone. It stands out as one of Birmingham’s most distinctive and elegant destinations.

Such a lovely spot with a great mix of cafés and restaurants to choose from. We stopped by the Black Sheep Café for coffee and toasties — their slogan, “coffee not just for girls,” made us smile. The coffee was delicious, really nice flavour, and the food hit the spot too. Friendly service and plenty of seating made it an easy, relaxed stop.

The Mailbox is a beautiful place to unwind and enjoy the city. There was some lovely live music playing during my visit, which created such a relaxing atmosphere. I especially loved watching the sunset over the canals—it’s absolutely breathtaking. The area is full of restaurants and bars, so you can enjoy a meal or a drink while taking in the view. Whether for a casual evening or a special outing, The Mailbox is a must-visit in Birmingham.

The Mailbox in Birmingham is a truly exceptional destination that beautifully combines style, leisure, and a fantastic dining scene. It's a world away from a typical shopping centre, offering a sophisticated and tranquil experience right by the canal. The location is absolutely stunning, with the waterside setting creating a relaxed and elegant atmosphere that makes every visit feel special. The range of shops is superb, featuring a great mix of high-end brands and unique boutiques. However, what really stands out is the incredible selection of bars and restaurants. Whether you're looking for a casual lunch, a celebratory dinner, or just a cocktail with a view, you'll find an amazing choice of venues, each with its own distinct charm. The entire complex is impeccably maintained, and the team members are always welcoming and helpful. The Mailbox is more than just a place to shop and eat; it's a social hub and a brilliant place to spend a day or an evening. It's a real gem in the heart of the city.

A mailbox means everything in one at short. Really enjoyed a day out with my friend, just a few miles near walking distance to China town. Many different kind of cuisine available and pubs and bars. They even have a pub with arcade games inside. Luckily they have a dragon boat race and all of the teams are local and it is a 21 degree sunny day, really enjoy it. Free lovely mochi ice cream as well just for today, I think I am blessed.😋😋

Selly Manor Museum, located in the historic village of Bournvilleon, is a remarkable 14th-century building with ties to the Cadbury chocolate family. The museum consists of two medieval Tudor homes, including Minworth Greaves, a Grade II listed timber-framed structure dating back to the 14th century. Acquired by George Cadbury to prevent its demolition, Selly Manor now hosts captivating exhibitions and displays that offer insight into historical living conditions and architectural practices.
We had a really enjoyable visit. It's a great complement for kids studying the Tudors in school. The collection in the house is fascinating and there is lots of information, very well presented. Worth a visit!

While visiting our son and daughter-in-law in England, we decided to take train from Redditch to visit the Cadbury Factory and store. After there, we ventured into the town and our daughter-in-law recommended the museum. It was late in the afternoon and we seemed to have the whole museum to ourselves. Was beautiful and quaint, loved the history as well. Would definitely recommend to anyone visiting the UK.

Selly Manor Museum is a wonderful hidden gem in Birmingham! The museum beautifully preserves the charm and history of Tudor life, offering an immersive experience that’s both educational and enjoyable. The timber-framed buildings and well-kept gardens make it feel like stepping back in time. The exhibits are thoughtfully arranged, and the staff are incredibly friendly, knowledgeable, and passionate about sharing the manor’s stories. It’s a great place for families, history lovers, or anyone wanting to explore something truly authentic and peaceful. A visit to Selly Manor Museum is definitely worth it!

Stumbled upon it while in Bourneville (not from around here). Quaint little Tudor house full of history and character. Well-preserved and taken care of. No hovering guides, we got tickets and took our time to explore the small but very detailed house. Has interactive parts too presumably fun for kids. A little dim but otherwise atmospheric. Final room had costumes for visitors to try on. The attic too. Enjoyed it very much. You can organise events like weddings and such here too just inquire the ticketing booth.

I visited Selly Manor to watch an outside production of Charley's Aunt. The garden is extremely pretty and small, so ideal for anyone whose mobility isn't great, so I didn't get to see the house. I did however, visit the accompanying building which is a converted barn come shop. It's very pretty too, with beams and whitewashed walls. I thoroughly enjoyed the whole experience and will return to see the beautifully timbered, Tudor house on my next visit.

The Hall of Memory, located in Birmingham's Centenary Square, is a poignant war memorial dedicated to the locals who were wounded or lost their lives during World Wars I and II, as well as in active service since 1945. Constructed by local workers, this elegant building features four striking bronze statues representing the Army, Navy, Air Force and Women's Services. Inside the circular hall lies a protective glass containing a book of remembrance for those who made the ultimate sacrifice.

This peaceful building used to be open regularly. A real shame Birmingham Council don’t open it more often nowadays. Last time I visited, it was Remembrance Sunday 2024 although I walk past it regularly. It’s a beautiful place to take a moment to remember the fallen. We will remember them.

St Chad's Catholic Cathedral, also known as the Metropolitan Cathedral Church and Basilica of Saint Chad, is a significant landmark in Birmingham. Designed by Augustus Welby Pugin, this Gothic Revival cathedral boasts a remarkable stained glass collection. It holds the distinction of being one of the first four Catholic churches constructed in England after King Henry VIII's Reformation. Completed in 1841 and elevated to cathedral status in 1852, it stands as a testament to history and heritage.
St Chad's Cathedral is a massive, gorgeous cathedral right at the heart of Birmingham City. It is a huge, exquisite, and historical cathedral, with extraordinary architecture, a huge balcony where the choir sings, statues around the inside, and a magnificent alter. It has some relics of St John Henry Newman, towering pillars, statues depicting the 12 Stations of the Cross, stunning and colourful strained windows. Mass is celebrated weekly at the cathedral, and everyone who comes through the doors are warmly welcomed and invited in. The Cathedral has a lovely shop just next door to it, that sells statues, books, Rosaries, and many other religious items. If you're able to, I highly recommend visiting this amazing cathedral so you can see the beauty of it for yourself, and even say a few prayers.

It's a beautiful church and the Sunday mass (11:30 AM) is the best thing you can attend. They have an amazing choir and the whole mass feels so beautiful. I recently discovered this church and it is a must visit if you are in Birmingham.

St. Chad's Catholic Cathedral in Birmingham is an architectural gem steeped in history and spiritual significance. From the moment you step inside, the atmosphere is tranquil and awe-inspiring. The intricate stained glass windows, towering spires, and ornate interior details create a sense of reverence and wonder. The cathedral's rich heritage is palpable, offering visitors a glimpse into centuries of faith and tradition. Whether you're seeking solace in prayer, admiring the craftsmanship, or simply exploring the beauty of religious architecture, St. Chad's Cathedral is a must-visit destination. Its serene ambiance and cultural importance make it a cherished landmark in Birmingham.

I have passed this building on many occasions and must admit that, from the outside, it does not impress me I had the opportunity to go on a guided tour of the cathedral and found it to be a most interesting structure. It was designed by Pugin and he certainly wanted to create an impressive building. I had the opportunity to go to the crypt which is not normally open to the public and even found this to be a most interesting area of the cathedral. The guides were so knowledgeable and willing to answer questions, not only about the cathedral but also aspect of the Catholic faith.

Chad. Am I alone in thinking that's a strange name for a saint? Not exactly an Illtydd but it ain't a John or Peter either. After visiting so many of god's houses I thought I'd find him/her residing in one by now but it was not to be. As god is allegedly omnipresent you'd think I would've found a pair of their discarded socks, or a wet bath towel thrown over an altar. Not even a bit of 'God woz here' graffiti. Nothing. No sign of.

Birmingham F.C's football ground, St. Andrew's, has been the team's home since 1906. The stadium is well-regarded for its impressive facility and vibrant ambiance. It offers enjoyable stadium tours and even serves as a venue for weddings. Aston Villa, their local rivals located within a short distance of less than 3 miles, have frequently clashed with Birmingham F.C over their long histories spanning almost 150 years. Currently competing in the English Football League Championship, St.
We visited the stadium for the Birmingham City Ladies v Newcastle United Ladies tie on a stunningly sunny Sunday and were immediately impressed by how welcoming the whole experience felt. The atmosphere was friendly, inclusive, and perfect for families. Being able to park right outside the front of the stadium for free was an unexpected bonus and made the day so much easier. From there, we walked straight into the fan park, which was buzzing with energy and full of thoughtful touches. There were food stands offering plenty of choice, activities to keep children entertained, and even the club mascots made an appearance for photos, which really added to the sense of fun. I had visited this stadium a few years ago, and the transformation since then is incredible. On my last visit, the place felt tired — my seat was broken in half, large parts of the ground were closed off for repair, and the overall impression was of a venue that needed serious attention. This time, however, it was the complete opposite. The stadium now looks fresh, crisp, and well maintained, with obvious investment and care put into the facilities. It’s genuinely a lovely place to visit. Although the result wasn’t the one we wanted, we still had a fantastic day out and thoroughly enjoyed the quality of football on show.

Visited for the home game against Shrews and the atmosphere outside was superb. A few over-zealous security scanning stations make for a fairly tedious experience as you try to gain access - especially the ridiculous queues to get to the Gil Merrick stand, when you could just walk past down the side of the queues and bypass them entirely! Anyway, the club feels positive and vibrant again and it was a decent day out in the second city.
Sly W — Google review
Went to see a friendly against Forest, ticket was £15, reasonable. Nothing special about the ground. Disappointed they had no vegetarian options to eat on the day, real let down. Chocolate bar and tea was £5.
Shakil R — Google review
After spending millions on the home end but not spent a penny on away end. One lift that broke twice. We had to go through home fans to get to away platform. The platform wasn't wide enough to pass other fans to get to toilet. The platform was also too short so standing fans blocked 1/4 of the pitch yet home disabled fans had a nice wide platform to sit on. The accessibility steward was brilliant but the whole of the other stewards were abysmal. Asked a couple of them questions they just looked at me not understanding English. The accessible toilet had no lock as it was broken same as the arm support. I won't be visiting again as this ground away facilities are not fit for purpose and away fans treated like second class citizens. What was most embarrassing was an old man giving abuse to away fans yet nothing was done.
Fred B — Google review
Good views from all stands a few post in the way, one stand. 20 minutes walk from Moor Street station near enough in a straight line. The bull ring is cross the road from the station. Retail park next to ground. Greggs, Morrison to name a few. A safe walk outside as they close the road to traffic.
Keith J — Google review
Solid stadium with proper old-school football vibes. I went for a Birmingham City home game and the atmosphere was buzzing—fans were loud, passionate, and you could feel the history in the place. The Trevor Francis statue outside is a nice touch, especially if you know your football lore. Getting in was smooth—about 20 minutes from arrival to seat, even with bag checks. The Gil Merrick Stand (away end) had good views and decent facilities. No major queues for food or toilets, which is always a win. There was even a guy walking around with a beer backpack, pouring pints straight into cups—genius. The ground itself is showing its age in places, especially one of the older stands, but it’s clean and well-kept. You can tell they’ve made an effort to upgrade bits since Knighthead took over. Street food stalls and fan zones outside give it a more modern feel, and the indoor bars are a step up from the usual stadium fare. Parking’s a bit of a mission unless you book ahead, and traffic after the match was slow, but that’s Birmingham for you. Overall, it’s a proper football ground—loud, gritty, and full of character. Definitely worth a visit before the new stadium plans kick in.
Charlie C — Google review
Great improvements to the ground lately but a few things let it down. No water in the toilets to flush or wash hands in sinks. It would also be great to offer drinks and food after full time. Great atmosphere with the fireworks and our lovely fans 💙

I was really surprised by how dirty some of the streets in Birmingham were — it felt like I went from some of the cleanest streets straight to the dirtiest! I’m glad I was there with my family; if I had been alone, I might have felt uncomfortable walking around. Definitely something to be aware of when exploring the city.

The beautiful St. Philip's Cathedral in Birmingham is a baroque cathedral famous for its impressive stained glass windows by Burne-Jones. It is also home to regular Mass and events/concerts. The cathedral was gutted during a bombing raid in 1940, but was rebuilt soon after and the windows were moved back to their rightful place. This unique church stands out from other cathedrals with its own unique style, making it an interesting destination to visit if you're in the area.

Beautifully decorated throughout, very clean. Great location, walking distance from city centre, reasonable car park down the road. Dinner was absolutely delicious, great atmosphere at the bar, breakfast was great. Unlike some of the reviews I have read I did not have any issues with the temperature in my room, it was fine.

Not worth the price. I had to call reception several times to provide various items that were missing (TV remote, heater). The room sometimes had a funny smell of cabbage. The hot water doesn’t work properly - I had to have a cold shower on the day I departed. Staff are friendly and helpful but this doesn’t make up for the poor quality of the hotel. The breakfast is okay. But when I arrived later one morning all of the pastries had gone and they weren’t replaced. The views from the rooms were the best thing about the hotel as all rooms are on the 23rd and 24th floors of the building. I wouldn’t stay here again.
Dean O — Google review
Was not informed at all that the A/C is not working. Absolutely unbreathable in the room. Was treated nice at first & given a different room however it slowly became very difficult to stay in. I was then given attitude by daytime reception staff when asking for a full refund & when trying to explain that i should of been informed at time of check-in that there is not ventilation in any of the rooms - i was cut off and not heard at all and felt very disregarded. Not even a single apology for the bad experience and the fact they refuse to refund the full amount despite having to leave the room at 3am because it was unbearable Not very good experience & could of been handled better.
Simran B — Google review
Don’t be fooled. Rooms are style over substance. The room wasn’t very clean (child’s face imprinted on the window), shower barely lukewarm, mini fridge in wardrobe making clunking noises all night, tap in bathroom leaking from every part of it, TV unuseable (other hotels have put effort in their set ups of these). Closer inspection of walls/doors/cleanliness, it’s just tired and poorly maintained. Nice from afar, but far from nice.
James L — Google review
I've stayed in this hotel way over 20 times for work. It used to be great. The last few times I've been it was been really warm in the corridors and rooms. But it wasn't so bad in winter. I stayed last night and no word of a lie the room must have been over 30'. I called reception because I've had problems with the temp before. The man said the AC is off because the maintenance contractors were working on the system. YAY! I thought. Thinking they were finally fixing it. That turned out not to be the case. The AC was never fixed. Receptionist did send up an additional fan (all rooms already have one so they clearly know it's an issue). However it was just way too hot to sleep. I stay here for work because of the location. But I only slept a couple of hours and wish I stayed at home and did the 3hr drive in the morning for my meeting. It's a shame because the restaurant is generally ok. There's a nice bar and terrace and it's super close to the venue for my monthly meetings. But last night was the last straw. I won't come back now. It was also £150 for one night on a Tuesday. So it's not exactly cheap. Id happily come back when the AC works. But for now, I'm done.

Great location at Gas St Basin makes it a short walk to Broad St/Brindley Place or the city centre. Rooms are comfortable with king size beds and air con. Stunning views across the North, West an South of the city from the restaurant, with an excellent breakfast.
Andrew M — Google review
You can’t stay at this hotel during hot weather. Rooms have windows which do not open, therefore, the rooms are over 30°. The staff pick and choose whether to inform you of this or not. They provide you with a fan which only blows hot air at you. If you are looking for a room that’s practically a sauna then this is a great choice. Requested compensation but they have denied.
Julian — Google review
I did not end up staying here but the 3.9 average review score at present does not reflect the reviews since 2023 when the air conditioning at this hotel seems to have stopped working. I was booked on a (very cheap - half the published price) corporate rate here, but then saw the reviews on the day I was meant to be checking in. At the desk when I asked about air conditioning, I was told they don't have it and immediately offered a full cancellation. The website does quite clearly state air conditioning is included in rooms so there is clear mis-selling by the hotel.

Absolutely fabulous apartments in a prime location. Full kitchen and seemingly completely sound proof. However the room was far too hot. The two industrial fans didn't help at all. Couldn't stay here due to the heat which is a shame considering how lovely the rooms were otherwise
Hex V — Google review
Wouldn't stay again. It's well located but it just felt really impersonal, not overly clean and the lifts and corridors smelt. Staff interaction is limited to the odd word, security are often sitting on reception smoking vapes. The windows are filthy, the blanket on the bed looked like it hadn't been washed in a while, there was unclean crockery in the cupboards, there's a washing machine but no dishwasher, which I feel would be more useful. My room had a massive wall in the middle of it, so the room felt very odd, the sofa is cheap, you can't see the tv from the bed and there were lots of small black insects in the bathroom. Absolutely not worth the £140 per night, particularly when I could have paid £84 on the day. Many more nicer places to stay in birmingham.

Well, what can I say, an absolutely bang on 5 star stay and service from the staff. Stayed for our anniversary. Had originally booked the mini studio which was already bigger than majority of rooms in the city but on an arrival we got upgraded to the penthouse. Rooms were clean and tidy also very tastefully decorated with a cool sixties vibe. Bean to coffee machine and fruit juicer in the kitchen an additional bonus. Veiw of the city was exceptional this was ramped up at night fall which was captivating and would of been the same regardless of room choice. From the outside the building does look a tad tired, but certainly not the case on the inside.

The building is very easy to get to from Birmingham New Street station, within a minute walking distance The building is well maintained, reception staff were very helpful The room however needs to be cleaned better. You can see some dirt and stain in the bathroom. The shower really needs something to prevent the water from flooding the bathroom I do like the extra facilities they add to the room like automatic coffee machine and fresh oranges Excellent view, just don't open the window if you're not brave, you can really just fall through... to the roof below

Such a great shame that Staying Cool has ceased trading. Always enjoyed my stays here. Great central location, very friendly and helpful staff. Wonderful views across Birmingham. Good sized rooms with all the facilities you could wish for in a serviced apartment. Comfortable beds that you don't want to get out of. I will stay here again and would highly recommend Staying Cool to anyone.

2nd visit to this hotel, rooms are a mini apartment with basics provided that you can pay to upgrade if required. Service from reception is excellent. Main thing about this hotel though is the location (literally towering over the Bullring Shopping Centre) & the views over Birmingham are amazing, especially at night. Perfect for the money, cannot fault anything & would definitely stay again & recommend.

I visit Birmingham every couple of weeks and usually stay at city centre hotels, but I thought I'd try the Rotunda on one of my trips - I absolutely didn't regret it! You're a couple of minutes from New Street Station which is so convenient. I was a little worried that checking in late might cause problems, but the security guard was present and checked me in with no issues. The views were absolutely phenomenal. The bed was extremely comfortable, and the provided coffee, cereal and oranges for juicing were a really nice touch. I have to scrape the barrel for negatives! The front door wasn't particularly soundproofed so it was quite easy to hear people waiting for the lifts, but it wasn't very busy at any point during my stay - it really didn't bother me. I strongly recommend this place!

Highbury Hall, located in Yew Tree Road, Moseley, Birmingham, is a picturesque Grade II listed Victorian mansion built by the famous MP Joseph Chamberlain in 1876. The fully restored house offers exclusive use for events and weddings with a capacity of up to 100 guests for both the ceremony and wedding breakfast. Surrounded by beautiful gardens, this historic venue provides stunning backdrops for photography.
We attended the craft fair which had some really great stalls. The whole venue was used. It was lovely to be able to see all the rooms to appreciate the history. We'd been July when they were celebrating 40 years of using the building for Weddings and receptions. We were celebrating 33 years of marriage that month had we had our reception there.

This gem of a building is open for guided tours on the first Monday of every month The guide made the tour both enjoyable and informative. I learnt so much about the original owner, Joseph Chamberlain.

I’m a local wedding photographer and I love shooting weddings at Highbury Hall. The building itself makes the perfect setting for a grand wedding ceremony full of arts and crafts backdrops. The upstairs balcony area and the library are two of my favourite spots for portraits. It has large sunlight rooms which are a perfect place for bridal preparation. I also love the beautiful natural green areas outside for capturing my couple portraits and family formal photos. Couples are always so happy with the staff and service. The venue has undergone a lot of restoration and looks fantastic; the perfect venue for your wedding in Moseley.

We visited for afternoon tea as part of an event organised by World Vision, for invited long term supporters. The location has a modest car park and extensive grounds is used for Wedding and over events such as mother's day meals...

We got married here on 25th March 2022 and I cannot express what an absolute amazing day and night it was all thanks to the wonderful staff at Highbury. Literally everything was perfect and they worked so hard to make sure it was and really looked after us all and the day went so smoothly and was totally stress free and i cant say thank you enough for everything. The venue itself is stunning, absolutely beautiful grounds. but seriously a venue would be nothing without the people behind the scenes making it what it is. You guys are all fantastic!! we thank you all for making our day as special as it was and we are so glad we chose Highbury Hall for our big day. everyone should get married here because they give their absolute best and then some and make the day utterly magical!! Thank you

We had our wedding at Highbury Hall and it was perfect. The venue is spectacular and the staff couldn't have been more helpful in making it so special. Thank you!

As soon as I saw another friend’s wedding photos at Highbury a few years ago I dreamed of getting married there. That dream became a reality a couple of months ago. Little did I know just how fantastic the team are there in the organisation both front of house and behind the scenes. Sam Forth patiently and efficiently dealt with every ‘daft’ question from the day it was booked, and Shirley similarly gave her full attention on the day. The waiting staff were brilliant, polite & considerate making sure food & drink were flowing - quietly and discreetly. And not forgetting the bar staff who did a great job, special mention to Tyrone who kept my drinks topped up all with a huge smile. The venue is steeped in history and it felt really special, the ceremony room is warm and intimate and the grounds add an extra Everyone had a wonderful time - we’ve had so many compliments ‘best wedding’, ‘had a fantastic day’ ‘food was amazing’ ‘wonderful venue’ Jarrod and I felt truly blessed, it truly was a magical day. Can’t not mention @RachelDeanPhotography who has ensured we will always have the memories to treasure Thank you everyone at Highbury for making it for us and the guests. A 5 star service and beyond xx

This welcoming parish has a beautiful, old church that is still standing. The history of the church is fascinating and the entertainment by Serbian young dancers was fantastic. The parish is very friendly and they are very generous with their food and drink. They take part in heritage week in September.
Stunning church! We attended a Divine Liturgy in (mostly) English (with lots of Church Slavonic) and venerated the miraculous icon. We received a warm welcome and were amazed by the beauty of the icons, frescoes and stunning carved wood. They had both a Russian style choir in the rafters which sounded like a choir of angels and a Byzantine choir near the iconostasis, which was also beautiful. The faithful seem very devout there and there were many pilgrims there for the icon. It was a spiritually strengthening experience and it was wonderful to see so many faithful there, they had to ask everyone to move forward to make room for more people! Glory to God!

I was recently baptised at St. Lazarica, and words can hardly express how grateful I am. From the moment you walk into the church, you feel the beauty and holiness that lives there. The icons, the peace, the presence—it’s truly one of the most awe-inspiring churches in the UK. Father Nenad welcomed us with such warmth and kindness. That renowned Serbian hospitality flows naturally through him—he carries it with such humility and grace. The baptism itself was incredibly special. My entire family and a close friend were all baptised into the One, Holy, Catholic, and Apostolic Church. To be baptised by a bishop was something I never imagined possible—it was a dream come true. The Divine Liturgy moved us to tears. It was so profound and full of God’s presence that my friend, who had never experienced Orthodoxy before, now wants to be baptised too. Receiving Holy Communion for the first time after baptism was unforgettable. We were then invited to share in a Lenten meal with the parish community—simple, humble, beautiful food… and a little rakija to celebrate! Orthodoxy is not just beautiful—it’s real. It’s the fullness of truth. The bishop and clergy truly live their faith. Their humility and love left a deep impression on all of us. Though we travelled from Brighton, we’ll always make time to return. St. Lazarica is a truly holy place, and Father Nenad will always hold a special place in our hearts.

I visited today as part of Heritage week. It was fabulous - so interesting and I left wanting to learn more about Serbia, religion etc. The welcome from all the lovely volunteers was fantastic. Without exception they were all very keen to provide us with lots of information. I will definitely be visiting again.

Beautiful church. Truly a piece of Heaven on Earth. Father Nenad is also so friendly and welcoming.

The church is beautiful but as a hijabi Muslim, I did not feel very welcomed during their open day in heritage week. I visited a few other places of worship on same day where volunteers were coming over to chat whereas here, I was waiting to speak to a volunteer who walked away and the priest, who was saying hello to everyone avoided us

Beautiful service, enjoying in guidance and advice that father Nenad present on the end. After service is available tea room , where can meet each other with our brothers and sisters, and praise the Lord Good to protect all of us. 🙏

Church of the Holy Prince Lazar is the first purpose built Serbian Orthodox church in the UK and definitely one of the finest Orthodox church buildings in Western Europe. Wonderful architecture and a fascinating moment of Serbian heritage. Thank you for this beautiful Orthodox Church.
