Marina
Nature & Parks
Marina de Albufeira is a vibrant and recently developed area located just a short distance from the main areas of Albufeira. The marina's buildings are painted in different candy colors, creating a distinctive and memorable sight. It serves as the departure point for boat trips along the coast, offering opportunities to explore caves or spot dolphins. Additionally, it's a great place to spend time with family and friends.
Marina de Albufeira is a wonderful place to visit! The colorful buildings and lively atmosphere make it a great spot to stroll around and soak up the views. There are plenty of restaurants and bars to choose from, offering everything from local Portuguese dishes to international options. It’s perfect for a relaxed meal by the water, a drink with friends, or just enjoying the boats and yachts coming and going.
Denisa T — Google review
Come with money. Lots of fun and very lively for you beautiful pictures of this around an area and buildings. You can also get boat tours out to all of the caves and other places along the shore. We went on a dolphin excursion and it was well worth the money for $30 each

A great day spent at this wonderful Marina, first an amazing boat trip to see the Benagil caves & Dolphins with Oceaneye and then a really tasty meal at one of many great restaurants.

Very unusual area for yachts and waterspouts. Colourful apartment blocks and a huge long walkway with many bars either side abd covered seating. Definitely worth a visit! An hours walk from the old town along the esplanade or get a tuk tuk. The little train goes to it also.

Neighborhoods
Albufeira Old Town is a charming district with whitewashed buildings, traditional plazas, and cobbled streets that exude an elegant ambiance. It's a perfect destination for families seeking an authentic holiday experience. Unlike other touristy areas in Albufeira, the Old Town has preserved its original charm with boutique shops, quaint cafes, and traditional restaurants. The area showcases a blend of Roman, Gothic, Moorish, and Spanish influences through its historic churches and architecture.
Absolutely rammed with bars/restaurants, sports bars. Gift shops galore, very child friendly as is all of Spain & Portugal. Gorgeous beach and warm sea. Take a sea trip dolphin watching, sea cave visiting or parasailing, the usual wayersports. The people are friendly. The old town comes a bit rowdy at night, but there's no trouble, just very friendly boisterous singing as the youngsters enjoy themselves
Brian — Google review
very interesting old town. also a beautiful and widespread beac. the underground is mostly sandy with little rocks and shells . two sunbeds cost 21€. the old town has a party mile with live music and restaurant after restaurant with low prices.a pint of beer costs 4€. a stroll through the city is easily made in three hours.
Skyla A — Google review
I spent a week here 17 years ago, back then it was quiet bars and restaurants with quaint shops. Now it's like it's on speed! It seems the strip has moved into old town. The one thing stopping a 5 star from me is the fact you get hounded to go into the bars and restaurants, even in the morning! That aside the place is lovely the locals are great and there are some fantastic places to eat!
Peter B — Google review
The latest visit in Albufeira that I did was last Thursday in September 2025. It was windy and still had many tourists. Nothing much changed from my last visit in 2021. The beach was beautiful. The sun is warm. Souvenirs, cafes, bars, restaurants, ice creams are there to be seen.
Rita — Google review
Absolutely stunning, small streets and gorgeous views, gets really animated in the evening, filled with loads of restaurants and places to have a bite and a drink.
Ana P — Google review
A very charming small town by the sea. Enjoy a stroll along the cobblestone alleyways, have a tasty seafood meal at one of the restaurants in the old town or hit the beach and enjoy the sun. Highly recommended.
Sajida A — Google review
Lovely old charming town. Beautiful surroundings and views, beautiful beaches, lots of hustle and bustle in the main square ❤️
Shane ( — Google review
Albufiera old town has a lot to offer. From bars, restaurants, shopping, and its proximity to the beach. There are small museums, churches and lots of things to keep you busy. The main square is vibrant. Lined with lbars, but a great place to people watch. Wander around the small streets, and you can find something for everyone. Many bars and restaurants have roof terraces, with great views over the beach and sea. At night, the place comes alive, with people of all ages. Crazy karaoke bars to old-time singers. Snack bars and fine dining. Many people come in on the little train and head down the escalator into town. These lead you through a large square that often has markets or music and leads directly to the beach. From the other side, there is a glass lift that takes you down from the town to the beach too. Out of season, this is a really peaceful place, but in the summer, it ramps up with hen and stag parties. I must say. Most people were very well-behaved. Fun in the sun

The Strip is a vibrant and lively neon-lit street that truly comes alive at night, offering a plethora of nightclubs, eateries, and open-fronted bars. With its blinking neon signs and pulsing music, it resembles a miniature Las Vegas. Located in the Montechoro area of Albufeira, this bustling nightlife hub attracts young travelers from Northern Europe as well as stag and hen parties during the summer months.
The Strip in Albufeira is a really nice place to visit. There are lots of restaurants, bars, and cafes where you can enjoy good food and drinks. It’s also a great place to buy souvenirs and gifts. During the day it’s nice to walk around, and at night it gets busy with music and entertainment. It’s a fun and lively spot, perfect if you’re looking for a good time in Albufeira.

Lively and Welcoming Atmosphere This place is fantastic! A perfect spot for a night out with friends. It's always buzzing with great people, fantastic music, delicious food, and excellent drinks. Everything is well-organized and the atmosphere is incredibly cheerful and welcoming. Highly recommend!

Our favourite place to go was Ancora bar. Good entertainment. Visited 3 times out of our week's stay in Albufeira.
Audrey C — Google review
Certainly NOT the cleanest of places I have been . The bottom half down to the beach is a better area, more modern bars and a lot cleaner but be prepared for cardiac hill on the way there and back we did a tuc tuk which was great fun and the nicer bars are at the beach area . Foot paths are some of the worst ones. I have walked on up and down not good for people who struggle to walk or not good on their feet .There are holes all over the place on the paths and very slippy when wet . We went down during the daytime, so I would definitely avoid it at night . Not for us .
Alan A — Google review
We were there in August and the nightlife is mainly for very young people, they looked to be between 15 and 25, all very drunk, high and ready to mingle. Very noisy, all bars blast the same songs, expensive drinks, the clubs which charge the entrance are not worth it. Albufeira Old Town is a much better choice
Mihaela M — Google review
It's like a warm Blackpool turned up to 12, packed with people during the evening. If you like loud music, cocktails and t-shirts that say I ♡ MILFS, you'll love it. If you like Antiques Roadshow and fine dining then it's probably best avoided.
Ian G — Google review
Very quiet during the day and at night crazy busy. Have bars, restaurants, clubs, shops, tattoo shops, dessert places from top of the strip to the bottom. A great atmosphere.
Mel — Google review
December Christmas week not busy at all which was a dream 😍👌🏼 Christmas Day plenty of restaurants open so don’t be worried that you won’t get food because plenty around. In the summer this place is crazy mayhem all the time with sports bars, clubs, pubs and restaurants kicking. But off season I found it to be nice 👌🏼 not many people around and lots of places do close for December season but I wouldn’t be put off by this. Plenty to see and do and plenty of beautiful restaurants around too.

Paderne Castle, a 12th-century sandstone fortress located in the village of Paderne, Portugal, is one of the seven castles depicted on the Portuguese national flag. Despite being mostly destroyed over time, efforts have been made to restore some of its main parts. The castle stands as a significant monument of national interest and offers visitors a glimpse into the country's history.
While many reviews here focus on the frustration of the castle being closed to the public, much of the site’s true charm lies in the trails and natural beauty below. This is an excellent and well-marked trail circuit, ideal for hiking, single-track mountain biking, and immersing yourself in the region’s rich history, diverse wildlife, and vibrant plant life. Unfortunately, some visitors—often on “Safari” jeep tours—miss out on these experiences, driving directly to the castle without exploring the surrounding area. It’s unfortunate that such a beautiful spot has garnered so many unfairly negative reviews.
Paul S — Google review
Great impressive remains of the once very strategically important site centered in the cirque of the Quarteira river. The interior is closed indefinitely but you can still go up and around the castle the enjoy the stunning setting.
Mark V — Google review
The castle itself wasn’t particularly impressive, but it’s worth taking a walk around the surrounding area. Nearby, there’s a beautifully preserved bridge, a mill, and other historical buildings.
Roman Z — Google review
Very nice castle So much to see en also very good lunch spot
Melisandra L — Google review
If you can climb the wall it's worth a look!
Jess S — Google review
The road to the castle is definitely a bit rough, but we managed it easily with our Fiat Tipo rental. However, the castle was closed, despite being listed as "open". I suspect it's closed frequently as it's a long drive and there isn't much to see. The trail around the base of the hill is quite nice. Maybe 2kms long, and an easy walk. The old stone bridge is unique. We enjoyed the trail hike....... not so much for the castle.
Jeff S — Google review
Nice castle. The drive in is a bit of a challenge ( hence so many people walking). The castle was closed the day we were there, but you can still walk around it. Steep walk around the castle and path is close to the edge of death..beware...
David W — Google review
Nice place to visit. It only open Wednesday and Sunday in February. However, there were good round route trails to walk in the area. Old bridge, water mill and even old oven. Very interesting stuff.

Perched on a hill overlooking the sea, Church of Santana in Albufeira is a testament to resilience and faith. Originally dedicated to St. Anne, it was rebuilt on higher ground after being destroyed by an earthquake and tsunami in 1755. The church boasts intricate gilded woodwork and a beautifully painted interior, although visiting hours can be limited. Its 18th-century architecture tells a compelling story of endurance through the ages.
A beautiful church with stunning architecture, positioned in an amazing location. The decorative inside was incredible and also much cooler than the temperature outside

Stunning church. Would be wrong to post photos. Need to see it for yourself.
Mark R — Google review
Looked amazing and we went to visit it on 3 different days but it was closed even though it said it would be open
Geraldine M — Google review
This Church was closed when we arrived, but there was a church nearby with a huge tower & bell and loads of people heading for it so we followed them and found there was Holy Mass at 10am in there. They were practising their songs from before 9.40am. It's a beautiful church. I was very relieved we managed to get to Mass last Sunday. But I still don't know the name of that Church.
Maire C — Google review
It's not much to look at on the outside, but on the inside it is surprisingly light with a pretty ceiling and beautifully painted. Worth a quick visit even if you just go in and out

With over 100 stores, visitors can find everything from clothing to electrical appliances. Very Nice shopping center with plenty of food options. Lots of free parking available. All major brands are available and also tax free shopping is available for uk citizens which is very good. UK citizens can save 23% by doing vat claim at airport. It’s cleanly maintained. Food is good. Overall a nice shopping center.

Superb. We didn't get around it all so will definitely have to come back!! lots of good places to eat too. Play area outside for the kids. Very clean. Openplan inside and outside areas. Lots of comfy areas to sit too. Recommended to visit

Always enjoying visits here. Great food hall and lots of shops and services inc. post service ( register letters & parcel) keys duplicate, shoe repair.
Rafal K — Google review
A very big shopping center with everything you need. A lot of security guards patrolling too. The only con is that it's so big I got lost looking for a specific shop. Maybe some kind of display with a map would be useful.
Mariska K — Google review
Quite a nice shopping centre, typical popular shopping chains though, not much you wouldn't see in every other mainstream shipping centre across the world. The layout can be a bit confusing, however there is a good number of stores, and the centre is kept in good condition and is clean/without litter. Nice for shopping trips, and there is an excellent cafeteria. - not to mention there is a nice park outside for those with children.
Cameron C — Google review
Brilliant shopping centre so many great shops, food court is massive and tried a few places that were all lovely. A lot of the shops have plenty of sales and good prices. Spent a good few hours there and there’s plenty of places for coffee and refreshments. Small arcade on site as well which was fun something for everyone.
Adam N — Google review
Fantastic shopping centre with many different shops from designer to high street stores. Good food options for when you need some fuel to continue with the shopping spree!! The stores are good sized and offer a vast selection of choices. The shopping centre is also very nice in terms of design and there is a pond with fish in it to keep the little ones entertained.

Huge shopping centre ( in Guia,) we walked here from the Cliff Richard vineyard wine tour next door ( Adega Do Cantor) . downstairs a massive Continente ( like Tesco) shop with vegan food, options, Heura, hummus, vegan burger , fridge and frozen sections, bread, veg, wine , beer, and even clothes too. Then, upstairs in the huge Food court delicious vegan soup( spinach soup ) and beer and wine. Only ten euro for two lunch for two people . Delicious and cheap thank you. Nice perfume shops and I got vegan gummies ( jellies) and vegan salted caramel chocolate in Hussel. Staff so nice . I noticed shopping centres in Portugal are extremely clean and tidy which is very different to back home, thanks, Love from Ireland.

A must-visit in Albufeira! Small museum with interesting exhibits of local origin. I learned a lot about the history of the area, and it was a subject of conversation with my loved ones after the visit. The staff are doing a great job at sharing knowledge. Information is available both in Portuguese and English, as well as Braille. Recently renovated and well-organized. Beautiful ocean view from the windows. Entry fee only €1.13. Highly recommended!

We were really pleased to find this shopping centre , combining a large food court and a very large open air seating area looking out to sea , a very good food shopping area and underneath various good variety of cloth shops with electronic store too, there is enough to see and explore here for 3/4 hours

Nestled in the heart of Albufeira, W Algarve is a newly opened luxury hotel that embodies modern sophistication with local flair. The vibrant atmosphere is evident throughout the property, from the chic DJ booths at the heated pool to the stylish W Lounge and rooftop Sea Sky Bar offering panoramic views of the Atlantic Ocean.
WOW. this property! Firstly I was compelled to write a review right away just from my check in experience alone, I still haven’t even checked out yet, but my experience so far has been nothing short of amazing. I was greeted by Diogo and the front desk reception Mariana and Jayson who were from the minute I walked in just so warm welcoming, electric energy and made the check in process so smooth and seamless, they were like GENUINELY friendly that is so rare these days! also they thoroughly explained all the hotel facilities, and shared suggestions on all things algarve. The welcome drink was a nice refreshing touch to a hot summer day. Upon checking in, I got to my room and honestly all i can say is BEAUTIFUL. the cleanliness, the balcony, the views the nice little touch with the welcome card + pastel de nata were SOOO GOOD👌 This hotel has a huge facility, with a spa/gym (haven’t had a chance to use this yet) but the fountain show and wet deck bar is nice! The hotel is close to a small little beach, just a short walk away and it was nice to catch the sunset. I had dinner at Paper moon, that I definitely recommend to go check out during sunset. the ocean views are incredible. I recommend getting the Gnochetti it was really good! After dinner we walked by the Lounge and there was a DJ playing, the hotel was quite quiet for a thursday night but I can imagine when the summer rush picks up it would be good vibes. Overall such a good experience and I totally recommend as a MUST stay when visiting in Algarve. From the Hotel, to the views, and the hotel staff that make it worth while!

Beautiful Property, Disappointing Service The W is undeniably a stunning resort with a lovely pool and spacious rooms. Unfortunately, our stay was overshadowed by poor service. It started at check-in with a delayed room and an unfriendly receptionist. At both the pool and the breakfast area there was virtually no service—you have to approach staff yourself for anything. After sharing our concerns with the manager, Beatrice, who was genuinely kind and tried to help, we were offered complimentary spa access. Yet it’s surprising that this small facility normally costs €20 per person, and the spa staff were just as unfriendly, so we chose not to return. Instead, we visited the Royal Thai massage studio next door and received far warmer and more professional treatment. The dinner we booked through the hotel at Paper Moon—an establishment we’d loved in Milan—was another letdown. We had requested a sunset table, but were kept waiting 30 minutes while a large empty table sat unused. Only after insisting were we seated there, and the service remained curt and unfriendly, ruining the experience. Bottom line: The resort itself is beautiful, but consistently poor service and rude staff spoiled our stay. Not recommended.

Spent 3 nights. Don't get me wrong, even the cheapest Wonderful rooms are amazing and the service is outstanding. But... 'unfortunately' our preceeding stay was at Domes Lake and the maintenance of the green areas, the (35pp + service charge!) breakfast and the service in general were just on a next level in comparison. While booking, I asked if the pool was heated. Unfortunately not, but I was referred to the spa/jakuzzi instead. They 'forgot' to mention that was at extra charge which is just hilarious in this category.

This place was just amazing. I would love to live there forever!! I highly recommend this hotel. I celebrated my 50th birthday there and they treated me like a queen - the service from start to finish was exceptional. The decor is absolutely stunning and the smell as your walk into reception is divine! I highly recommend going for the bed and breakfast option - the breakfast is out of this world - the only hotel I’ve ever been to that has free flowing bubbles - I could quite get used to a mimosa every morning! A particular thank you to the reception team and John and Teddy in the Market Kitchen. I will be back one day - Leanne

My favourite hotel in the Algarve. The sunsets here are absolutely mesmerising, especially from Air, which offers stunning views from the edge. The pool was kept at the perfect temperature with plenty of seating available. Every staff member I encountered was genuinely friendly and welcoming. A truly memorable stay at W Algarve.

We stayed at the W Algarve in early October 2025. Our room was outstanding. Very spacious 1br setup with a private garden terrace. The service was excellent and everyone on the property was interested in making sure we had a pleasant stay. We would love to go back again in the future.

I had a fantastic stay at W Algarve. The hotel is modern, beautifully decorated, and very well maintained, with inviting and vibrant colors throughout. My room was spacious, extremely comfortable, and perfect for a relaxing stay. Breakfast was excellent — a wide variety of high-quality options to suit every taste. The staff were consistently friendly and attentive, always ready to help with a smile. The hotel also features great restaurants offering delicious food and a stylish atmosphere. One of the highlights is the direct and easy access to the beach, which adds even more to the experience. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a stylish and comfortable stay in the Algarve!

Absolutely Stunning and Relaxing Experience! My husband and I purchased a WET DECK day pass for the use of the pool, bar and restaurant. We liked it so much, we came back twice! We had the best possible service from all the staff and with special attention from Wil who was extremely professional and kind. We will be back for an extended stay.

Balaia Golf Village Resort & Golf is an upscale resort offering relaxed apartments, a golf course, two eateries, six outdoor pools, and a gym. The spacious apartments are slightly dated but provide comfortable accommodation. The resort features amenities such as an outdoor swimming pool, sun terrace, and Jacuzzi. It is conveniently located near Praia Maria Luisa Sandy Beach in Olhos de Agua district.
A lovely resort. We had a first floor apartment near the front of the complex, which was really clean, with all amenities. I used the indoor pool during our stay and that was great too, warm and well maintained. We enjoyed our stay so much we booked again 😀

Stayed here for a week with my extended family. Loved the villas, very clean and everything provided. Even the TV had RTE and the shop had Barry’s teabags. Gas, definitely an Irish influence going on. The pools, just so nice, loads of loungers and very clean. We went half board so breakfast and dinners but 1/2 of the staff in the restaurant were just absolutely awful to us. I don’t know what was going on but breakfast was fine as long as we avoided them. Then dinner would take 3 hours. We are nice people, no demands, just wanted courses without an hour in between. And the horrible attitude, always commenting that we were ‘inclusive’. So would come back I guess, kids loved the villas and the pools.

This property should not be advertised as a 4 star establishment, I’d say 3 star is more accurate. The apartments are well-equipped with essential amenities including a washing machine. However, cleanliness is a significant concern and the property is infested with ants and cockroaches (some very large ones). Stay at your own risk.

This place exceeded my expectations. We booked a superior apartment, it was recently refurbished to a high standard & very spacious. Pools & grounds were lovely. Spar just around the corner. Only downside for my was the 5pm check in time. We have just re booked for next month.

I walked in for a daily pass of a gym and a pool but the receptionist told me it’s just for the clients but I was informed before when I called I can use the gym facility paying 6 euros daily pass and I don’t need to be a client. May be because I don’t speak Portuguese the receptionist don’t want to offer me the service. When I walked in the receptionist was rude aswell. They didn’t even say hello. I am doing something here wait my colleague will assist you. That what they said instead of stopping and focusing on customer. Not the staff with best customer service attitude. I find it a bit rude and raciest as I am not the client firm uk or Ireland or some other European country with lots of money.their website clearly indicates they have this service I have posted the image.

We were happy with the apartment we got. It’s 608. Well maintained two bedrooms, two bathrooms living room with open kitchen and balcony. Apartment was clean. It’s a bit far from hotel reception. Only the problem was unfriendly women at the reception. On our arrival day we went to drop our luggage before checking time and the gentleman who was at the reception was very friendly and polite. Other times when we were there to collect the key and check out, women at the reception were not friendly.

Very surprised at the quality of the apartment. Very clean and every item that u would need to enjoy your stay. Kitchen fully stocked as was the bathroom with plenty of towels toilet paper etc. Probably the best stocked apt we have visited on our travels. Two balconies with sun loungers, clothes stand and table n chairs. If there were 6 stars I would ward it. The restaurant serves a really top class club sandwich. Def go back there. Lication is a short taxi ride to both new and old town. Two shops near by to get food.

Outside of apartments, very picturesque and good swimming pools. Restaurant on site by reception very good caters for breakfast lunch and dinner and staff very friendly and helpful. Apartment spacious but in need of repair in areas. Downside on arrival receptionist not helpful and lighting at night could be better, suggest take a torch. Was left to find own accomodation on arrival in a large complex at midnight. Supermarket outside of complex is well stocked and reasonably priced.

Hotel Vila Galé Cerro Alagoa is a charming accommodation in Albufeira, Portugal. The hotel offers comfortable and modest rooms with amenities such as air conditioning, a restaurant, spa, and game room. Its convenient location allows easy access to Fisherman's Beach and the town center where guests can explore shops, restaurants, and nightlife. The hotel features two outdoor pools including one for children making it suitable for families.
My husband and I just spent 5 nights here while in Albufeira for a wedding. The hotel is in a great location, the staff were friendly and helpful. The pool was great, never any issue getting a sun lounger. The breakfast was good quality and lots of options. The beds were comfortable and the rooms were clean and functional. We hope to return again with our kids we had such a good experience.

Lovely hotel with lovely staff. We went B&B only, but the breakfast buffet was excellent. Everything from fresh fruit up to a traditional fry-up. Everyone was catered for. The hotel was spotless, including pool and bar areas. Very convenient location for walking into the Old Town, or down to the zoo known as 'The Strip'! A tourist train stops outside if you don't fancy a walk. Plenty of local restaurants and fast-food places nearby also. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here.

Great location. Friendly and helpful staff. Pool area is great. Breakfast is good. It has a nice spa and gym area. We had a very nice and chilled stay! Constructive criticism - If you are not half board, the restaurant is not good value for money for dinner. A lot of balconys have zero privacy ( I can see into 30 other balconies, and they can see into mine)(some of the balconies have partitions either side, so maybe ask for that at booking). I'd definitly recommend staying here if you don't mind those last 2 negatives!

A fantastic stay, returning to Albufeira and also Cerro Alagoa after 10 years. The staff have changed in that time, but their attention to detail and ability to go above and beyond made the stay a memorable one. We opted for roadside rooms instead of our usual pool/sea view, and they were clean and quiet. The breakfast is something special! A special mention for Sammy and Tiago in reception who were so helpful, and arranged a late checkout for us at very short notice. This was despite the hotel almost being at full occupancy. And also a special mention for the bar staff Peri and Paulo for the late night drinks and chats.

A little old hotel and clientele 60% is +65 of age. Smally carpet and we had to change room because of the small. The are okay, got what you need, okay beds, rooms are small, even the ones with balcony. Service was on point, clean rooms, good receptionist and brunch staff working extremely hard to service you. Breakfast is lowest quality you can get in Algarve. It's noisy and you have to queue to get pancake, omelette, toast and coffee because the food disposal is too small compared to so many people the hotel has to serve. Both pools were great with a small playground for kids or young people. The location of the kids arena is perfect, 10 meters away from the pool so not so noisy. Good parking and close to the city center, it's on the top of hill, so expect a hard walk home after dinner and drinks. The gym is out of date like the rest of the hotel, it has the minimum equipment and some machines don't work.

Excellent hotel with amazing and friendly staff. We really enjoyed our stay, staff were very helpful. Hotel is located between the old town which is 5 minutes walk and the new town of Albufeira towards the strip which also a walking distance. You get to enjoy both areas. There are entertainment every night at the hotel. Hotel is not noisy at all, even with the nightly entertainment which starts at 9pm until 11pm. Breakfast and dinner are lovely and very tasty. Rooms are clean and spacious, with balcony overlooking the pool and the ocean at the distance. I highly recommend this place, you won't regret it. We will definitely return there in the future.

We stayed at Vila Gale Cerro Alagoa for 10 nights in August. We had a lovely time. The hotel is in a good location. It’s near the shops and about 10mins walk down to the beach. The food was excellent! There is a themed menu every night. We particularly liked the Cuban and the Seafood night. Breakfast can get very busy. My child with food allergies was well catered for as they have the grill for meats and fish too. The chefs have been helpful when asked about allergens in each dish. An allergen card would have solved this. The staff were great. The room was clean but could do with a deep clean from time to time, has enough space for the 3 of us, the decor a bit outdated, the beds and pillows were comfortable. There is a fridge and safe. There is a small balcony, however it lacks privacy as it is too close to the other balconies. There was evening entertainment but isn’t much. There is a small play area for the children. Good sized pool. Overall, it was a good holiday and we would go back again.

If you’re looking to pay 5-star prices and get service worse than a cheap hostel, this is your hotel. Our stay at Vila Galé Cerro Alagoa was a complete disaster. Here’s why this place doesn’t deserve anywhere near the 4 stars it advertises: 1. Staff lacking professionalism and hygiene • Some employees show up to work without being properly groomed. In a 4-star hotel this isn’t just a small detail, it’s completely unacceptable. 2. Reception: misleading information from the start • At check-in, I was told I had “requested” a street-facing room — completely false, as I always request pool or back-side rooms to avoid noise. • They tried to present it as if they were doing me a favor by giving me a back-side room, when in fact that was my preference all along. Dishonest and unprofessional. 3. Extra bed request: we got a crib instead • I clearly requested an extra bed for my 3-year-old daughter and was given a crib. • How can a 4-star hotel fail to distinguish between the needs of a baby and a 3-year-old child? Completely careless. 4. Pool and sunbeds: rules exist but aren’t enforced • By 7:00 a.m. guests are already placing towels on sunbeds and disappearing for hours. • The result: sunbeds occupied all day but actually empty. • The hotel sees this happening and does absolutely nothing. Rules are just for show. 5. Overpriced and inconsistent charges • Small beer: €3.40. Large beer: €5.80. • Yet on some occasions, magically, my wife was charged €2.80 for a large beer. Does it depend on the waiter? On the day? No consistency, no transparency. 6. Dirty and poorly maintained pool area • Cigarette butts, plastic cups and general filth. The so-called “relaxation area” looks more like the aftermath of a street party than a 4-star hotel. 7. The Spa: forced charges while others walk in freely • We were forced to pay €12 for three swim caps to access the Spa. That could be understandable. • What’s absurd is that at the same time, people were walking straight in from the outdoor pool without caps, without control, without rules. • Some guests get charged “for hygiene,” while others are allowed in however they please. Total joke. 8. Bar service: a complete disaster • In both hotel bars, there’s no table service. You have to get up, tell them your table number, and then they’ll bring drinks. • One day we ordered food. The waiter took the order, asked for the room number, and then vanished. After a long wait I had to go to the bar myself just to get drinks for my daughter, as it was very hot. • To top it off, they tried to charge me twice: once for the original order the waiter wrote down, and again for what I requested after waiting so long. A total mess, unacceptable for a 4-star hotel. 9. Housekeeping: disorganized and inconsistent • Day 1: we placed the “please clean room” sign at 10:00. Returned at 15:30 and the room was still dirty. • Day 2: no sign placed, and yet they entered in the morning, forcing us to wait with our 3-year-old daughter. • They do the opposite of what makes sense. Pure chaos. 10. Sheets and towels: changed every three days • Both sheets and towels were only changed on the third day of our stay. • In a 4-star hotel, at the very least, towels should be changed daily and sheets every other day. • Unacceptable hygiene standards for the prices they charge. ⸻ Conclusion: Vila Galé Cerro Alagoa is not a 4-star hotel. It’s a perfect example of how to mismanage absolutely everything: reception, staff, housekeeping, bars, pool, Spa, pricing and rules. You pay premium prices, get terrible service, and leave feeling scammed. One of the worst hotel experiences we’ve ever had. We will never come back and we do not recommend it under any circumstances. If you value your money and your holidays, avoid this hotel.

Situated 1 km from the center of Albufeira and 550 meters from Praia do Peneco, this hostel provides recreational opportunities such as a shared lounge and evening entertainment activities. For an ideal budget holiday that is still aesthetically pleasing, perfect choice mate. Lovely staff, positive vibes, with a beautiful terrace view. Toilets have all you need, cleaned regularly and showers work perfect. Some food could be improved slightly but it’s still good. Location is absolutely perfect, beach is a nice 4 minute walk, tons of restaurants and supermarkets right next door. Overall the perfect choice for an easy, no stress getaway holiday. Thank you guys!

I recently stayed at the Sun Lovers Hostel and had a great visit! The staff are incredibly helpful, kind, and personable! It’s situated in a great location where it is accessible by car or foot and walking distance from the beach and town! The hostel also has a nice pool and during my visit staff organized some games in which contestants were rewarded with a shot from the bar after the game was completed. It is also important to note that the hostel has a rooftop restaurant which offers a nice assortment of options for breakfast/lunch. Overall, I really enjoyed my visit and would come back without hesitation.

This place is more than an hostel! The position is excellent, just 5 min walk from all the restaurants and bars in old town but without the noise and chaos of the centre. The hostel has been renovated recently, ac in every room, lockers big enough for a carry on and every bed has curtains for more privacy. The staff is amazing, in particular Cristiano, super friendly and always ready to help you with everything you need. Thank you so much Cris and the whole crew for making me feel like part of your family!

Their kindness and professionalism made our stay even more special. I highly recommend this hotel and I can’t wait to come back! PS Isa 😘

The hostel itself has a great social vibe and is a nice place to meet people. Micka, Abriham, and Murian were an absolute pleasure – so friendly and welcoming. They really made the stay enjoyable. However, I had a serious issue with security and staff communication. I was asked to change lockers (but not beds), and afterward, some of my belongings went missing. Strangely, they were found four days later by a cleaner. That was both unsettling and concerning. Be cautious with your belongings here. Also, Cris and the owner, Jonathan, could be much kinder and more approachable with guests. Their attitude wasn’t as warm or helpful as the rest of the team. That said, if you’re looking for a fun, social atmosphere, this hostel is great — just make sure to keep an eye on your stuff.

The Church of Our Lady of Conception in Albufeira has a rich history, having been built on the site of a former mosque. The original church was destroyed in an earthquake, leading to the construction of the neoclassical temple that stands today, complete with an impressive bell tower. While typically closed to visitors, it opens for religious services and is known as a beautiful and simple Catholic church.

Nestled just a short 5-minute drive from the vibrant heart of Albufeira and only 10 minutes away from some of the region's most stunning beaches, Albufeira Green Residences offers a serene retreat in a peaceful neighborhood. Located conveniently close to Lusiadas Hospital, this destination is perfect for those seeking a permanent home, vacation getaway, or an investment opportunity.
I recently had the fortune of acquiring an apartment in Green Residences that met all my expectations, both in terms of quality and service. It stands out not only for its impeccable design and first-class finishes, each space is carefully thought out to maximize comfort and functionality, but also for the shopping experience, which was exceptional from start to finish thanks to the professionalism and dedication of Sylvie Albrantes. From the first moment, she demonstrated a deep knowledge of both the apartment and the area, which gave me the necessary confidence to know that I was making the right decision. Her kindness and attention to detail were evident at every step of the process. Her willingness to go above and beyond to ensure my satisfaction was something that really stood out. In summary, buying this apartment was not just an investment in an exceptional property, but also an unparalleled experience thanks to the professionalism, dedication, and kindness of Sylvie Albrantes. I highly recommend to anyone looking for a luxury property who seeks not only quality in the property but also exceptional service, to consider this option as their best choice.

Sylvie our sales representative from Libertas was absolutely amazing. She helped us every step along the way. My husband and I moved here from the US, and navigating a foreign country can be tricky to say the least. She was always responsive and never made us feel like we were asking ridiculous questions. We would not have been able to complete this real estate transaction without her. The apartment is beautiful. Fixtures are great. We are definitely pleased with the work completed. The only downsides with the experience were: 1. The Green Residences had a tentative completion date of June 2023. We signed deeds and moved in February 2024. So be wary of what date you are told the project will be finished. 2. Albufeira municipal/city hall is so disorganized/atrocious. This was half the problem with moving in. It takes them forever to schedule an appointment with the builder to get a “Certificate of Habitation”. This greatly slows up the move in process. This cannot be controlled by the builder fyi - the city controls this process. Then it is waiting for the condo association to take control of the building in order to get elevator service, electric service etc…. Frustrating to say the least. Your patience will run thin. So, in closing, the building so far is up to standards and we are very pleased. (we have only been in the apartment for 1 month) The sales team was phenomenal and Sylvie continues to graciously help us along the way. We would 100% recommend Libertas - however be wary of delays and the city the building is located in due to crazy bureaucracy that can occur.

Igreja de São Sebastião, an 18th-century church in Albufeira, was once the heart of a fishing village. The modest whitewashed building boasts a rococo doorway and a baroque altarpiece adorned with intricately worked statues of Saint Francis Xavier, Saint Sebastian, and Saint Dominic. Adjacent to the church is the Museum of Sacred Art, which houses religious items recovered from abandoned churches in the region.

Apartment building
Apartamentos Pescadores is a fantastic accommodation option for couples, offering a brilliant location just a 2-minute walk from the center of the old town. The apartment provides all the necessary amenities for a beach holiday, including a clean and well-equipped bathroom, ample wardrobe space, and a small kitchenette with plenty of utensils for preparing light meals. Guests can enjoy great air conditioning and amazing views from the apartment.
Fantastic apartment for 2! Location is brilliant, 2 min walk to the centre of old town, Accommodation is everything you need for a beach hol, clean, good bathroom, lots of wardrobe space, didn't hear neighbours, plenty of utensils in the small kitchenette to make light meals, hairdryer, first aid kit, GREAT AIR CON & AMAZING VIEW!!. Only downside is the hard mattresses but after a few cocktails it's fine 😆 We requested extra pillows & there were so many we didn't use them all. Highly recommended this studio.

Great apartment that is close to the amendities but not so close that you are met with unbearable noise every night. The apartments are a few feet away from the escalators which take you to and from the beach. You will have amazing veiws of the beach and fisher mans square. Myself and my girlfreind stayed for a week and we enjoyed our stay. Miss Maria the lady who was responsible for cleaning was nice, friendly and she went the extra mile to clean. Only downside was that there were ants in the apartment in the kitchenette area but that wasn't that much of a problem for us. You can't beat the view for the price that it cost us for the week and we would stay again!

I loved it here - the location, the balcony, the view. Albufeira is very loud with all the karaokes and Brits coming here for parties, but this little apartement with an amazing view was like an sanctuary for me. (Still, nights are loud in Albufeira, so if you are sensitive to noise, you might consider an accomodation totally out of center or in a different town)
Dominika Š — Google review
Mrs Maria was there to Greet us when we arrived . Extremely friendly lady and felt at home straight away . Accommodation was spotless and cleaned twice for the week we stayed . Clean towels was provided & toiletries. View was amazing location perfect not in centre of town but still only 2 minutes away & not noisey. Highly recommended. Will definitely stay again Sean & corrina Ryan

(Translated by Google) The location is very good. Otherwise, in our case, it was a complete disaster. The apartment was poorly cleaned, the mattress smelled bad, the pillows were lumpy, the air conditioning didn't work, and the shower didn't drain, so you had to take a few showers. You had to move the microwave every time you used it because there was no power outlet where it was located. Terrible value for money.
