The Museum of the World Ocean is a remarkable museum and research center that offers a unique exploration of the ocean. It features an impressive collection of boats, seaplanes, and a submarine for visitors to discover. The museum's Quay of Historical Fleet showcases several fascinating vessels, including the world's largest research ship 'Vityaz,' the country's only floating submarine museum 'B-413,' and the space communication ship 'Cosmonaut Viktor Patsaev.'
Very interesting museum - numerous ships and other vessels for exploration + main hall with aquariums. And new exhibition hall is coming up soon. Highly recommended to visit! But be aware - it's not "just a museum", the complex can take almost entire day to see everything.
Michał K — Google review
Loved by local people but few exhibitions because of renovation. If you are expected to watch a lot of kinds of fishes, you would definitely feed disappointed, however, the exhibition of the whale is absolutely great!! There are a several tickets depend on what you want to watch, so you might feel confused, but you can ask the staff in the ticket office. I recommend you to check the Instagram account of this museum, because their posts seems very lovely.

Externally it looks spectacular but unfortunately it's incomplete inside. We'll just have to wait in anticipation for the full experience
Hazmedic_XRP — Google review
A big territory with a lot of attraction sites including a submarine, a research vessel, a water plane, coral and fish aquariums, all sorts of marine mines, anchors, compasses etc. To visit every attraction you need to pay separately. Great for kids.
Marina — Google review
Being in Kaliningrad you have to visit this place. But not all attractions are worth to see for foreign guests. For sure tou have to buy tickets for museum on the ship and submarine. Before you buy the tickets for other attraxtions, check what this is about, because you can be dissapointed and bored. I do not recommend aquariums. They are small and not so attractive. And in my opinion they are to small for all those fishes. But still you should come here and see those great things.
Magda M — Google review
It is very interesting place. As a seafarer (Captain) it is very attractive place for me.Not only to get fun it gives lots of knowledge.Life in the submarine is adventure.I love this place.

Königsberg Cathedral, a stunning example of Brick Gothic architecture, stands proudly on Kneiphof Island in Kaliningrad, Russia. Originally constructed in the 14th century as a place of worship for the Prince-Bishops of Samland, this magnificent structure has endured the test of time and was meticulously rebuilt after sustaining damage during World War II. The cathedral is not only dedicated to the Virgin Mary and St.
It is a Brick Gothic-style monument in Kaliningrad and is the most significant preserved building of the former city of Königsberg, which was largely destroyed in World War II. The construction was completed in 1380. Although it was heavily damaged in World War II, it has since been restored afterward. It is the largest brick church in the Baltic region and has three towers, and a 700-pipe organ (one of the largest in Russia). The interesting fact about it is that It is the burial place of Immanuel Kant, the famous philosopher and his statue is in the cathedral as well. There are lots of interactive parts inside the exhibition about Kant, for example in one part you can ask any question from him, and he'll answer you! If you are interested in learning more about the history of Königsberg or the philosophy of Immanuel Kant, then a visit to the cathedral is a must.
Maryam K — Google review
Dedicated to the Virgin Mary and St. Adalbert of Prague, it was built as the see of the Prince-Bishops of Samland in the 14th century. Upon the establishment of the secular Duchy of Prussia, it became the Lutheran Albertina University church in 1544. The spire and roof of the cathedral burnt down after two RAF bombing raids in late August 1944. Kaliningrad was to be rebuilt as a model town on the remains of Königsberg, with no reminders of its German past left standing. The ruins of the castle were periodically dynamited over the next several years, with the last remnants destroyed in 1968 on Leonid Brezhnev's personal orders. The ruins of the nearby Königsberg Cathedral, which included the tomb of Immanuel Kant, were left standing, and, after the collapse of the Soviet Union, were rebuilt and restored in the late 1990s and early years of the 21st century.

I had the opportunity to see the beautiful cathedral both from the outside and inside. I also attended a concert held inside. The interior is very well maintained and truly impressive. We took a memorable wedding photo in front of the cathedral.

Beautiful cathedral was built in 14th century. Doest function as an regular cathedral nowadays. It's is a museum. To get in you need to buy a ticket. There is also possibility to listen to organ music there.

Nestled within the historic walls of the Dohna Tower, the Amber Museum is a treasure trove for anyone fascinated by this unique gemstone. With an impressive collection of over 6,000 amber exhibits, visitors can marvel at stunning artworks and intricate jewelry that date back to as early as the 4th century BC. Among its highlights is a remarkable 4.28 kg nugget of amber and ancient specimens showcasing prehistoric insects and plants preserved in resin.
it is a "must" seen place in Kaliningrad. It includes different pieces of arts

Beautiful area and building but the museum itself is average. Some interesting pieces but a lot of similar things and basically nothing in English.. so a wiki page will be more interesting to learn.
Guillaume F — Google review
Nice place and the museum has many informations to show. There are shops as well to buy amber stones. I enjoyed to read the history behind the making of the stone. Worth to visit.
Felix K — Google review
We did not get a chance to go in due to lack of time, but the surrounding area is great and so are the shops. If the inside is anywhere near its exterior, I'm sure it deserves a five star rating.

Touch mysterious and traditional culture and history of Kaliningrad. If you have heard of the mystery of the amber room that missed during warld war 2, you would definitely be moved, because there is the exhibition of the room that restorated. If course, you can learn the history of amber and how to make amber things in Russia. Additionally, there is the exhibition of amber art such as pictures made with amber. There is a souvenir shop that you can buy amber and with reasonable prices!

Amazing experience. My knowledge of Amber grew by 50000%. Beautiful pieces to look at as well as nice souvenirs to be bought.

Before I came to Kaliningrad I had no idea that such a huge percentage of worlds amber derived from this region. It's crazy to think about 300 million years how a unique set of circumstances led to it. This gives a story of the region and a ton of amber displays as well.

One of the Best zoo ever! A lot of activities, food spots, Children grounds etc. No. 1 place to visit in the city! Try 11 a.m. - 4 p.m. To visit because of animals activity hours.

Very beautiful zoo!!! There's good food, ice cream, clean and neat bathrooms, wonderful trees, fountain, bridge and walkways. There's a lot of animals to see and keep you walking all over. It's a whole day plan or the park you would love to go for a walk. Bus stop is convenient. There's no parking, but there's several busses stopping right in front of the entrance. So any bus can take you to the zoo. That's amazing! The restaurant in front of the park connects to the inside green foliage of the park. At this restaurant, there's this beautiful deck you can seat and enjoy the fresh air. It's a perfect place for everyone! I loved it! My favorite animal, my daughter's love, the giraffe. They are right there in front of you and get very close at you. Just beautiful! Also, at the entrance there's a racoons house(it's paradise). I would be a racoon, that's where I would like to live. This keeps your kids entertained on your way in and out. By the way, there's free wifi.

(Translated by Google) We are impressed by the visit to this museum. Of course, the most impressive was the diary of the Battle of Koenigsberg. How much Russian blood lasted for this land to exterminate the fascists... There are so many portraits, photographs, personal belongings of our SVO heroes. There are downed fascist drones... A lot of amber, archaeological finds from this area are carefully collected and presented. I am grateful that all this was collected with love and passed on to generations. There were children from a kindergarten in the museum and a very interesting excursion was held for them. They talked about animals and birds, etc. I caught myself thinking that apparently God is with us, because we Russians, when we win - we carefully preserve the history of the people who lived before us... And we do not have the malice and hatred that the West has towards Russia.

The Museum "Bunker" in Kaliningrad is a former underground bomb shelter built in 1945, serving as the headquarters of the local German command during the 1945 battle. The museum features dioramas and photographic material depicting events during the battle, offering visitors insight into this historic period.

Relatively small museum. It's basically a corridor with a bunch of small rooms on each side, but every room has a lot of content in every room. Even if you don't get a guide, you can learn a lot just by reading the signs on the walls or using the AR app. Most of the exposition is dedicated to World War II and the Red Army's offensive against the German forces in Konigsberg. The catch is that you need to know Russian to read the signs. Not sure if the guides speak English either, so enter at your own risk.

Fort #5 Museum is a captivating museum that recounts the history of the capture of Konigsberg. While it may not be suitable for those who are easily affected by heavy and oppressive atmospheres, it is highly recommended for history enthusiasts. The fort, though damaged during the war, offers an intriguing glimpse into the past and is sure to leave visitors fascinated. Additionally, it's a great place to visit with children as they will find it very cool and delightful.
(Translated by Google) A good museum telling the history of the capture of Konigsberg. The place is very interesting, but I don’t recommend entry to some who are very impressionable. There is nothing like that, but, as my wife said, she is very impressionable, and there is a very heavy and oppressive atmosphere inside. For my part, I will say that I recommend visiting there for anyone interested in the history of our region. The fort was damaged during the war, but it is interesting to visit inside. The museum is located on the outskirts of the city. Getting there is not difficult - take buses #31 and #36 from the city center. It's only a short walk from the stop, minutes from your heels.

The B-413 Submarine Museum offers a unique opportunity to explore a genuine Soviet-era Foxtrot-class submarine that served in the Northern Fleet from 1968 to 1999. Docked on the Pregolya River, this museum provides an immersive experience, allowing visitors to step into the tight quarters and get a realistic feel for life aboard a submarine during the Cold War.
Seeing this well-kept piece of soviet history was a delight. The closest thing to this I experienced was in Gosport,UK where they have an Amphion class submarine on public display but it's nowhere near as well-kept as the B-413. Such a delight to visit!

You can't even imagine how difficult and unbelievable is to live and work in the submarine. Go and discover world of small spaces under the water. How they work, sleep, fight and go to the restroom. Take a walk from top to end and learn how difficult is to maintain it working. Wonderful experience!

This was a cool place to visit. For decades a submarine used by Soviet Union and Russia. It's part of bigger collections of boat at Museums of Oceans. It is 300 rubles to get into boat. It is really striking just how cramped and claustrophobic it is. The displays are in Russian but still got a good sense of how it felt in the vehicle.

The King's Gate in Kaliningrad is a restored 19th-century triumphal arch that now houses a museum featuring exhibits on local history and maritime heritage. It stands as a beautiful ancient Russian building with red appearance and exquisite reliefs, making it a must-visit landmark in the city. The gate holds its own center for exploration within the Lodejny Shipyard, dedicated to the revival of historical ships and education of shipbuilding.
Nice little piece of Prussian (German) history ... they have a little museum inside I recommend visiting!
Yves L — Google review
The King's Gate was originally the Gumbinnen Gate (German: Gumbinner Tor), built in 1765 at the edge of the district Neue Sorge. In 1811 it was renamed the King's Gate and was the terminus of the Königstraße boulevard. The gate was redesigned by Friedrich August Stüler in 1850. The west facade has three sandstone statues, made by sculptor Wilhelm Stürmer: nine metres above the ground to the left the Bohemian king Ottokar II is depicted, who was Königsberg's namesake. Frederick I of Prussia, Prussia's first king, follows as the middle statue. To the right Albert, Prussia's first duke and founder of the Albertina university, holds an eye over the city. Above the sculptures the coat of arms of Samland and Natangen are shown.

The Vityaz Science Vessel, located at the Museum of the World Oceans, is a significant research ship that has been in service since 1949. It has a rich history, having flown under the flag of Great Britain and undergone name changes before joining the Soviet Navy. Visitors can explore various rooms and exhibitions on board to get a glimpse of life on a ship several decades ago.
A guided tour is a must. Some parts of the ship may not look authentic, however the stories behind it are stunning and countless.

This is the first monument in our country, created by the Russian Military Historical Society in different cities of the country, dedicated to the centenary of the beginning of the First World War. The concept of the monument is a representation of the warring classes of our country. Here you can see a common student, a warrant officer, a noble officer, and a peasant soldier.

So-called Fisherman's Village was built after WW II. Although English speaking autors write in Wikipedia that city was destroyed during "prolonged Soviet siege and assault" that is totally incorrect. Soviet Army completed Konigsberg operation for only four days from April 6 through April 9, 1945 and city already was in ruins after two RAF 🇬🇧 air raids in August 1944. Brits totally destroyed tree regions Altstadt, Lobenich and Kniephof in historical center, killed 4200 German civilians and left 200000 homeless. So, when Soviet Army appeared here, city was ruined by Brits. Here was no any military targets, why did they bomb Konigsberg I still can't understand. It is the same enigma. The Konigsberg Castle, also known as Order Castle or Royal Castle, was a fortress constructed in the 13th century. It served as the dwelling place for the Teutonic Order and later became the residence for the Prussian Duke and a site for royal coronations. Before its destruction during World War II, public and administrative establishments were housed within its walls.

The Memorial Sign of Soviet-Polish Friendship, crafted by sculptor E.A. Popov in 1977, stands as a testament to the historical ties between the Kaliningrad Region and Poland's Olsztyn and Elbląg voivodeships. This concrete monument symbolizes cooperation and camaraderie, represented visually by two wings that evoke a sense of Slavic brotherhood.
(Translated by Google) Neighbors should be friends and we need good relations with the Poles. The friendship “crackled”, but there must be a monument, because all of us Kaliningraders love to visit our neighbors to relax, take a walk, and, let’s be honest, buy something tasty.
Google review
(Translated by Google) Maybe it’s worth modernizing the Soviet-Polish Friendship Square? The Soviet Union no longer exists, as does friendship with Poland. Make, for example, a park for the defenders of the Northern Military District. On the contrary, it is precisely the “Memorable sign to the Komsomol Heroes who died during the storming of Königsberg” - the continuity of generations.

(Translated by Google) Unfortunately, the park is in a state of disrepair. Under the USSR, the park was constantly looked after, the bushes were neatly trimmed, flowers grew on the lawns, the tiles were not in such bad shape as they are now. Maybe someone else remembers what these two flags looked like??? On each of the flags there was the coat of arms of the republic, in the middle between the flags there was an inscription, and there were also two flags laid out in small tiles around them, Polish and Soviet. Closer to Kalinin Avenue there were flagpoles on both sides of the square. In 2000, in this square of Soviet-Polish friendship there were umbrellas and beer sales, and all the nearby entrances were pissed. People broke benches, broke bottles where they were drinking, and the square lost its purpose. Now they have renovated it a little, and if you and I don’t spoil everything, then maybe this square will remain and they won’t build another house in its place.

(Translated by Google) An abandoned, unpopular place. Apparently financed from complete destruction by the city budget. What can the monument symbolize? It looks like two wings (Polish and Russian). A hint of Slavic brotherhood. Where is this bird flying (our common ancestor). I hope for a bright future :) The construction of Soviet times obviously carried a slightly different semantic load - far-fetched and propaganda, but the Soviets weakened, and with them the illusions disappeared. Brandenburgskiye Vorota, also known as the Brandenburg Gate, is a surviving gate of the historic Königsberg. Originally built in 1657, it underwent reconstruction ordered by Frederick the Great. The neo-Gothic style gate now houses a marzipan museum and shop where visitors can explore the history of marzipan and purchase delicious marzipan items. It is one of eight gates that survived in present-day Kaliningrad and stands out with its unique architecture.
The construction of the Brandenburg Gate was completed in 1657, when the city was called Königsberg. The finished design bore little resemblance to the modern version. It was a wooden gate dug into the ground with a roof. To better protect the city, a ditch was dug in front of them and filled with water. The structure stood for about a hundred years, until the King of Prussia, Frederick the Great, ordered its reconstruction. The wooden building was replaced by a thick-walled brick building with two arched passages. Casemates, storage and utility rooms were arranged inside it. The arched roof served as decoration. In this form, the Brandenburg Gate stood for almost 100 years. In 1843, they underwent a large-scale reconstruction, becoming even more beautiful. They were decorated with sculptural portraits of military officials, coats of arms, arrow-shaped pediments, medallions, single-headed eagles and sandstone flowers.

The Wrangel Tower is a mirror image of the Don Tower (which now houses the Amber Museum). The diameter of both towers is 34 meters and the height is 12 meters. The artillery of the towers was housed in 42 casemates located on two round tiers. At the top of the second floor was an open gun platform protected by a jagged parapet.

Rosgarten Gate, also known as Rossgater Tor, is one of the eight remaining gates in Kaliningrad. It was constructed between 1852 and 1855 under the supervision of Wilhelm Ludwig Sturmer. This gate building now houses a fish restaurant and is located next to the Amber Museum. The gates were undamaged during World War II, allowing them to be restored and repurposed for modern use.

The gate building was built in 1852-1855 according to the design of Engineer-Hauptmann and director of fortress construction Irfugelbrecht and engineer-lieutenant von Heil in Königsberg. After the Second World War, the gates were not damaged, which is why they were restored and began to be used as premises for the Sun Stone restaurant.

(Translated by Google) A well restored monument. You can't see the inside unless you visit the cafe. But it behaves disgustingly towards the monument, placing ugly umbrellas with advertising and blocking the entire view of the gate. Misery! The cafe also occupies the bridge from the reverse side, so there is no through passage. I’m not against the veranda, it just needs to be done appropriately, fitting into the architecture, without invading it so unceremoniously. What I am most worried about is that next year it may no longer become such a light structure, but a serious addition that will completely destroy the appearance of the monument.

Victory Park houses the Ausfal Gates, a historical fortification designed by architect Ludwig von Aster. This pedestrian gate is inconspicuous and often goes unnoticed. Additionally, an Orthodox chapel can also be found in the vicinity. It is recommended to capture photos of these gates from the opposite side of the park.

Kirch St. Adalbert is a stunning example of neo-Gothic architecture and a prominent feature in the city. Although it suffered damage during World War II, the church has been meticulously restored and now holds regional monument status. Designed by Friedrich Heitmann, its intricate stained glass windows are particularly noteworthy. The construction of this Catholic chapel began in 1902 and was completed in 1904.

(Translated by Google) Construction of the Catholic Chapel of St. Adalbert in the new Amalienau district of Königsberg began on July 16, 1902, according to the design of the architect Friedrich Heitmann. The Catholic Chapel of St. Adalbert was consecrated on November 14, 1904. In 1932, the architects Johannes Laufer and Georg Schönweiler added a structure with lancet windows on the north and south and a portal with large round windows to the chapel, after which the chapel received the status of St. Adalbert's Church. In 1939 the altar was rebuilt. During the fighting of World War II, the church was damaged. In the post-war years, the attached part was dismantled into bricks, and the old premises were given over to a prosthetic enterprise. From 1975 to 2019, the church building was occupied by the IZMIRAN Magnetic-Ionospheric Observatory, now the administration of the Western Branch of the Research Institute of Terrestrial Magnetism of the Academy of Sciences of the Russian Federation. The interior of the former St. Adalbert's Church has been rebuilt and divided into three floors. Restoration work is currently underway inside (Original)
