Bastione di Saint Remy is a significant structure featuring a limestone arch, pillars, terrace, and promenade for cultural events. It is located in the districts of Marina, Stampace, and Villanova. Visitors can explore various squares and outdoor areas for traditional celebrations. One can start their Cagliari tour by ascending the marble steps of Passeggiata Coperta or taking the free elevator from Piazza della Costituzione to reach Bastione San Remy.
Amazing scenery, views and a wonderful walk around here. Not too far from the port. Some fantastic history and if you have the buggy tour you can find out more as you go past which we did. Such a lovely area, we really enjoyed this start to our Italian holiday.
Beereed — Google review
This was a cool stop I walked to from the cruise port, it was uphill the entire time but the views were pretty cool. There are many stairs to get to the top, and once you get there there are several benches and some trees. Unfortunately none of the benches had shade.
Devon K — Google review
One more bastion. Built in the late 19th century on the ancient city walls. Connects the lower city to the historic Castello district. From the top, enjoy stunning panoramic views over the city, port, and sea. A perfect spot to relax and take photos.
Mykola K — Google review
It's a beautiful old structure with wonderful panoramic views of the city once you climb the elegant staircase. Just be warned it can be swarming with tourists taking Insta photos and TikTok videos which can detract from the experience. Don't forget to open your eyes and drink it all in ❤️

Nice view, you can buy umbrellas or hats from vendors there. I recommend not going in sunny weather and during the lunch hours as it is very hot.

The Roman Amphitheatre of Cagliari is a significant historical site dating back to the 2nd century. It boasts extensive subterranean remains and is part of a larger complex that includes prehistoric Domus de Janas, a Carthaginian-era necropolis, Byzantine basilica, Pisan-era towers, and fortifications from the Spanish Habsburg imperial era.
Pitty that the amphitheater was closed when I arrived, also from outside looked great. Entrance fee is 3€/person
Marek K — Google review
Very disappointed that such an amazing piece of history isn’t given more attention. The site was undergoing “renovations” when we arrived and this restricted access to the site, however there wasn’t much evidence of renovation, and there wasn’t any clearly defined access paths past where we had to stop, so I don’t know how they would protect the amphitheatre which last tourists visited. The €4 entry fee was very cheap, but you can see everything from outside the fence line, so don’t bother. There needs to be a serious injection of cash into this historical site to protect it and make it more attractive and accessible for tourists.
The H — Google review
This place has so much potential but unfortunately it is not well used. The entrance ticket is 3 EUR but it is worth the money because you get as close as possible to the amphitheater. Overall, I sincerely hope that the authorities will implement something to make the place accessible to the general public because it can become very popular with a little bit of investment preserving it
Goran A — Google review
Worth visiting, it is a small ticket price and very little to sea but you get a short history lesson from the ticket seller.
Happy O — Google review
Sadly we didn't have time to go in a look at the exhibition and site. As we were just driving through. But the antiquity of the place was splendid. We parked for free right by it. And there were views from the side. Go up hill and and across to get to the old town. Magnificent views
Sarah I — Google review
Unfortunately, people are not allowed to get close or enter the underground areas until further notice as they have been deemed unsafe. But you still must pay for tickets to walk a few feet down a narrow walkway by the ticket booth near the entrance. We were allowed stand by the booth to look and take pictures without purchasing.
YouTube U — Google review
The place is in an ok shape but not wonderfully preserved. You can’t go in the ruins, only see them from the top or the bottom. That makes it not worth it to pay the entrance fee, just walk around it.
Thibaut — Google review
I went to visit the amphitheatre within the stated opening time, arriving with 30 minutes to spare at 16.30. Unfortunately the staff, who were rude and uncompromising told me that there wasn’t much to see and also that they had closed the till and therefore I could not pay the €3 to walk down a 50 meter path to have a closer look at the ancient amphitheatre. This was despite me travelling there, arriving within the advertised time and for a typical entrance, according to them, lasting about 5 minutes. I would have left long before the closing time. The staff seemed more keen to finish work early than to accommodate visitors to this historic site of Cagliari.

In the historic Castello quarter of Cagliari, Italy stands the impressive Torre dell'Elefante, a 14th-century limestone tower adorned with a sculpted elephant. Closed for renovation works for some time, it has now reopened to the public. Built as part of the city's medieval defenses by the Pisans, it offers visitors memorable views over the port and sea. The tower is an important piece of medieval engineering and provides a glimpse into Cagliari's rich history.
This is a huge, impressive tower that incredibly was built in 1307. It would give you incredible views over Cagliari ... if it wasn't closed for renovation work (July 2025). Still good to look at from outside though.
David S — Google review
The Torre dell'Elefante (1307) stands on the ramparts of Cagliari (Sardinia), Italy. The tower was built during a period of Pisan domination to defend against the threat of an Aragonese invasion. The tower defended the western entrance to the Quartiere Castello of medieval Cagliari. A retractable draw gate controlled access to the medieval city from the lower town. The sculpture of an elephant to the left of the gate gave the tower its name.
David S — Google review
Very interesting structure, historic and quite mesmerizing.
Goran A — Google review
The tower is beautiful but has been temporarily closed for around 2 years, which is a pity. In 2022 was open, but from 2023 they closed it and today it’s the same. Many important tourist attractions in Cagliari are closed for some reason unfortunately..

Villa of Tigellio is an archaeological site in the Stampace district, featuring the remains of three affluent Roman houses and a bathhouse. Visitors can explore the ruins and even touch them, offering a rare opportunity to connect with history. The site also boasts a beautiful mosaic of a flower, providing great photo opportunities. While some feel that it could benefit from updates to enhance its appeal, those familiar with Roman domus will appreciate its historical significance.
Awesome..love the way they let you go onto the villa ruins...great photo opportunities..only a couple of euros to get in too..👌👌👌
Diane J — Google review
It's 2€ and the staff I met is really kind and answers questions readily. It needs to be updated for my taste though. If you don't already know a lot about the Roman domus it will be mostly piles of stones for you. They've got a mosaic of a flower, which is quite beautiful and they allow you to touch the ruins which was a rare treat for me.

Sadly the amazing potential of this site remains unrealised. With some maintenance, signs and care this would be a wonderful testament to Cagliari’s history.

The Museo archeologico nazionale, located within the Citadel in Cagliari, Sardinia, is a significant museum complex that offers a comprehensive exploration of the island's ancient history. The museum houses an extensive collection of archaeological exhibits, including Punic jewelry, ceramics, bronzes, and Byzantine coins. It provides a complete overview of Sardinia's history from the prehistoric era to the Roman and medieval ages.
Free on the first Sunday of every month, but would be well worth the cost of entry. It teaches the 5000+ year history of Sardinia and Cagliari very effectively. English and Italian displays throughout. They have recreated some artifacts for people to hold. They have also restored some artifacts using plain materials and glass/plastic to demonstrate where the fragments would be on a complete item, I think that is a very effective way of displaying these items and more museums should follow this approach.
Asa-Jai F — Google review
A must-visit for anyone interested in ancient history. The museum offers a well-curated journey through prehistoric to Roman times. The highlight is the impressive collection of Nuragic bronze statuettes. Also worth seeing are the Neolithic artifacts, Punic and Roman finds. It is not so big. You will need a little bit more than one and a half hours. Recommend to visit.
Mykola K — Google review
It's a well-done museum, not as big as some of the larger cities, but very comprehensive, covering prehistory up until the Middle ages. The ramps and staircases can be a little bit confusing as you start at the most ancient and hopefully end up at the most recent. Currently it is €10.
Norm Y — Google review
A lot of history in this museum, must see if you visit Cagliari. 10 eur is the price but worth the money.
Mih K — Google review
Must visit for anyone in Sardinia, to go beyond just the beaches and the food and learn a lot about the history of the island and its people. Not too big, but quite comprehensive museum with some amazing, out of this world monuments from the Nuragic period.
Ivan S — Google review
Amazing museum, if you are just a little bit curious about Sardinian history this place is must have to visit.
K. — Google review
I visited with my family the archeological site of Nora with a guided tour, so beautiful and interesting, and then we found here the ancient objects our guide was telling us about. Also, we went to the archeological site of Tharros for a lyrical concert, and again, we found here the Giants of Tharros. Highly recommended! And the neighborhood is beautiful, too! With nice restaurants and cafes nearby.
Patrizia B — Google review
Nice museum if you're interested in the history of Sardinia and the Romans. We were there with our children (ages 7 and 9), but that was not appreciated by a very rude female staff member. It was clear that this rude woman did not tolerate children. A real shame, because children are exactly the ones you can teach something about history — but unfortunately, this woman didn’t think so and made that clear by staring at us with wide eyes and constantly following us around. So, if you're going with your children, be warned. If you're not with children, then it's definitely recommended.

The origins of this church date back to 1324 in order to offer spiritual assistance to soldiers engaged in the siege of the city. Castello di San Michele Cagliari, a 12th-century fortified castle, now serves as the City Center of Art & Culture. The area has a rich Christian history dating back to the 3rd century, with Bishop Lucifer of Cagliari being exiled for his opposition to a sentence at the Synod of Milan. The castle district is the oldest and highest part of Cagliari, offering visitors a glimpse into the city's ancient past.
Nice castle and park. Stunning views from the top. Many benches 😊
Waldek — Google review
Very small castle located on the highest part of Cagliari. The walk up to the castle is a KILLER, and there is no shade at all or someplace to sit, so if visiting during spring/summer, water is a necessity. I would suggest going by car as there is a parking area just a few meters away. Having said all that, the view up the hill is marvellous. The castle itself is very small, and it showcases life during variois periods, especially what people used to wear along the centuries.
Dana F — Google review
Castle is on the top of the almost tree-less hill / dont take the hike in the middle of sunny day! ;) The views are top and the walk from the bus took us around 20mins to the top including taking pictures. The castle entrance fee was 4E and additional 2E for guide. Our guy was David - and the be honest without the guide it is pointless to go there, since all descriptions are in italian (unless you speak italian of course). We enjoyed the visit and many interesting information about the castle and sardinia itself. The building is not that big, so dont expect like huge fortress or so.

(Translated by Google) We stayed in this beautiful B&B, as the name says it is truly a "Jewel" in the historic center of Castello. The place is very charming, clean, well-kept and with all the comforts, it has a bathroom, kitchen and a delightful bedroom. This small apartment has attention to detail, such as the headboard of the bed with Sardinian lapwings and everything you need to spend an unforgettable holiday in Cagliari, spending little. But what makes it truly special is that it makes the guest feel as if they were at home, in total and absolute freedom, having nothing to envy of the many starred hotels. We highly recommend it!!!!

The Cattedrale di Santa Maria Assunta e Santa Cecilia is a stunning 13th-century cathedral located in Cagliari, Sardinia. Originally built as a church dedicated to Santa Cecilia, it was later elevated to the rank of cathedral during the Aragonese domination. The cathedral boasts a graceful Gothic exterior and a lavish interior adorned with baroque decor. Inside, visitors can explore the vast marble pulpit and crypt containing royal tombs.
The Cattedrale di Santa Maria Assunta e Santa Cecilia is truly a hidden gem and an architectural marvel that left me absolutely amazed. From the moment you step inside, you are transported into a world of spiritual tranquility and artistic beauty. The cathedral’s exterior, with its classic Romanesque style, immediately captures your attention, but it’s the interior that truly takes your breath away. The play of light through the stained glass windows creates a serene and almost mystical atmosphere. Every corner is rich with detail—elaborate frescoes, intricate carvings, and a sense of sacred history that seems to whisper through the stone walls. The combination of devotion and artistry is overwhelming in the best possible way. You can sense the centuries of faith and community that have built and sustained this sacred place. The altar, dedicated to both the Virgin Mary and Saint Cecilia, is particularly moving. Saint Cecilia, the patron saint of music, adds a poetic touch to the ambiance—you almost expect to hear distant organ music resonating through the air. Whether you’re religious or not, this cathedral offers a powerful experience. It’s not just a place of worship, but a testament to human creativity and devotion. I highly recommend a visit—it’s nothing short of extraordinary.

The Cathedral of Santa Maria Assunta and Santa Cecilia, often known as the Cagliari Cathedral, is a Roman Catholic cathedral in the picturesque city of Cagliari, Sardinia. Its history dates back to the thirteenth century, with building beginning in 1258 after the city was conquered by Pisa. Over the ages, the cathedral has experienced several repairs and adjustments, resulting in an intriguing mix of architectural styles such as Romanesque, Gothic, Baroque, and Neoclassical. The cathedral's main front, a magnificent example of Neoclassical architecture, was renovated in the eighteenth century. In contrast, the bell tower, a robust survival from the thirteenth century, emanates a particular Romanesque character. Admission to the cathedral is usually free, however there may be a small cost to enter particular portions, such as the martyrs' chapel. Visitors are politely asked to dress modestly when viewing the cathedral, and it is best to check about the schedule of religious services, since access may be restricted during certain hours.

The outside doesn’t look like much but the inside is breathtaking. It is big, highly decorated and the crypt is nice. The marble statues and pillars are incredibly beautiful. You can enter for free and give a small price for the crypt.
Thibaut — Google review
Beautiful baroque church. Please be mindful of your attire when you enter. There is a crypt under the altar that you can visit- entrance is on the left side and exit on the right. There is a shop by the left side that sells some rosaries and other stuff, very affordable and highly recommend. We parked infront of the church, just after the steps, only park if you are a small car (smart, fiat panda, hyundai i10). Otherwise, there are designated parking area or you risk blocking the road.

A beautiful palace, a piece of history unexpectedly discovered during the city stroll. Some information about the kings of Sardinia, historical facts make the place quite interesting. We were in summer, it was not busy.

A nice small palace, I love the chandeliers and one of the best view of the city. I was quite surprised that nobody was there. You could see here the new emblem of the Sardinia flag, to be honest I prefer the old version. For only €3 the tickets, deserve the visit. As well is a good thing to do when the city is so hot 🥵

Nestled in the heart of Cagliari, the Basilica di San Saturnino is a remarkable testament to early Christian architecture, dating back to the 5th century. This stunning church features an impressive domed roof and apse that tower majestically above its surroundings. Dedicated to Saint Saturninus, the city's patron saint who met his martyrdom during Diocletian's reign, this basilica offers visitors a glimpse into the rich history of Christianity in Sardinia.

The Church of Saint Mary 'Purissima' is a significant monument in the Castello neighborhood, with a rich history dating back to the 13th century. It was constructed by the Pisani family on the remains of the old church of St. Cecilia and showcases a blend of various art styles.
(Translated by Google) The Purissima church is located in via Lamarmora, the main street of the historic Castello district. The church was probably built after 1554, when the noblewoman Gerolama Rams Dessena, who together with other daughters of the Cagliari nobility had dedicated herself to monastic life, had the adjacent cloistered monastery built. The church remained in use until 1867 when the monastery was suppressed and acquired by the State which later used it as a school. Once the monastery was closed, the nuns were dispersed and the church was also abandoned and closed to worship. Only in 1903-4, on the occasion of the fiftieth anniversary of the proclamation of the dogma of the Immaculate Conception, was the church chosen for solemn celebrations and restored. Having once again fallen into oblivion, the church was, in 1933, assigned to the congregation of the "Handmaids of the Holy Family" who still look after it today. Worth visiting, it is a Church that deserves great attention. Extremely collected, it arouses unique emotions. Estremamente raccolta suscita emozioni uniche.

This hotel is wonderful. We had such a great stay at this hotel. The front desk staff is very knowledgeable about the surrounding area and welcoming and the rooms are very nice, high wooden ceilings, comfy king size bed and the best shower I have ever had in a European hotel! When we checked in we were greeted by Francesca who was very friendly and gave us a map explaining the area, she really went above and beyond in providing exceptional customer service. I would highly recommend staying here.

Great location, clean and comfortable room, 24 hr front desk. We arrived late, so that was nice. We had booked for two twins, but the king hadn't been separated when we arrived. They gave us some extra sheets and said we could do it ourselves. True, but also kind of strange.

Great, charming, well decorated hotel; perfect location for the old city, the train and bus station; friendly and helpful staff. Our room was comfortable, spotless and quiet. Good breakfast and we enjoyed the displays of the vintage toys displayed on the staircase. Because it is located in the city there is no parking available at the hotel itself but they have a limited amount of discount vouchers for the nearby secure car park (call ahead, perhaps) - otherwise, as we did, you have to pay the full amount, 1.80 euros/hr. A free car park is a little further away but it’s not secure so don’t leave anything visible in the car.

Really a nice place with charming decor. A full restaurant. Included breakfast is great. Large bathroom. Good bed, firm. AC would not stay in but it would work fine when I tricked it into running. Not a huge deal. There was a nice balcony overlooking a parking area behind the old buildings. So the view was no big deal but it was nice having the balcony People were very nice. Location very close to the restaurants and shops. We could not drive onto the block where the hotel is so, we had to park and quickly bring our luggage a half block to the lobby, get the parking ticket, then go move the car to the provided lot Nearby. The lot is a few minutes away so you kinda have to do it this way. I would stay there again.

We were so pleased with our stay!! The location couldn’t be more convenient and our room was extremely pleasant and clean. The bed was large and very comfortable, plus we had a huge window with great natural light. It is right in the center of the restaurant area, but inside the building everything is totally silent. Plus, the service was all-around spectacular—all of the front desk employees were eager to help make our stay as smooth as possible, and they did. They also provide free parking at a protected lot around the corner if you book your stay with the hotel directly!

Stayed here for 9 nights recently. We were quite surprised by some of the bad reviews actually as our experience was excellent. We found all the staff to be very polite, friendly and helpful. The daily breakfast was nothing fancy, but more that adequate with a good selection of cereals, yoghurt, breads and a few warm items. The location of the hotel can’t be beat, right next to the main dining streets. The hotel was spotlessly clean with daily turnover by the cleaners who were also very friendly. We were in room 102 that had a huge outdoor terrace with seating. Total value for money and highly recommend this hotel

The church is really beautiful inside with a very interesting history. There's a very somber but beautiful energy throughout. The crypt has two main rooms and another smaller one to the side which I believe used to contain human remains. Upstairs behind the main altar there's another room with an early Christian baptism bath. The visit is free, but it's suggested you leave a donation of your choice. (Translated by Google) Legend has it that it was built on the remains of the Chapel of the Convent of the Knights Templar, but the news is not confirmed. What is certain is that we know that the current structure dates back to the 16th century with renovations in the 18th century. The church was managed by a Confraternity that took care of burying the poor, who were buried in the small square in front (used as a cemetery..) and in the crypts. The interior of the church is baroque. With several works of art, among which there is the Crucifix of the Black Jesus (it is called this because it was drowned by a deranged person who tried to burn it...). When visiting the crypts, you will also see a disturbing fresco depicting Death, with the Latin writing, which translated says..."I spare no one". It can be visited freely with an offer, at the times indicated (not always respected, however....).

Nestled in the historic Villanova district of Cagliari, the Church of Saint James is a charming and ancient parish that beautifully integrates into its urban surroundings. Positioned at the foot of a descending diagonal street, it offers stunning views that enhance its allure. While much of the church has been remodeled in a neoclassical style from the early 20th century, its tower proudly dates back to the 13th century, showcasing layers of history.

The church and the piazza around it, not of particular interest to the majority of tourists, will give you a glimpse of how locals live. It was restored between the 18th and 19th centuries and the current façade, designed by the architect Gaetano Cima, features typical stylistic features of the neoclassical language. The guided tour is recommended, given its affordable price of just one euro.

Fortino di Sant'Ignazio, also known as Forte di Sant'Elia, is a former military fort situated atop the Sant'Elia hill in Cagliari. Offering unobstructed panoramic views of the city and its surroundings, it is renowned as one of the best vantage points to witness mesmerizing sunsets.
I stumbled upon Fortino di Sant’Ignazio during a hike near Calamosca Beach, and it was a delightful surprise. The trail leading up to the fort is well-marked and is not a challenge, making the journey enjoyable. As I reached the summit, I was greeted by panoramic views of Cagliari and the shimmering coastline - a truly breathtaking sight. The fort itself, though in ruins, is remarkably well-preserved and exudes a rustic charm that’s incredibly photogenic. Being close to a military base, certain areas are restricted, but that doesn’t detract from the overall experience. It’s a peaceful spot that combines natural beauty with a touch of history, perfect for a leisurely afternoon adventure.

(Translated by Google) MEM Cagliari, Mediterranean Media Library Before there was the "Via Pola Market", and there was no mention of the "Mediateca". Even before that there was the stadium where Cagliari Calcio played, a long time ago. Now: brick, glass and steel; Minimalist "multipurpose space", without much fuss. The space is generous. A long covered courtyard; a restaurant-bar-pizzeria; a large children's room with teachers, books and playroom-type games; some galleries for themed exhibitions, almost always closed. By now Via Pola in the morning is a quiet and peaceful street, full of blue parking lines, but without much traffic. Entering the "decumanus" (let's call it that) the silence grows, and even the few annoyances of the road disappear. At the actual MEM, on the ground floor, there is the reception (very good) and a space dedicated to newspapers and internet stations. On the first floor there are (finally!) the actual books (which you can also borrow), old DVDs, and some conference rooms. There are also: the Historical Archive and the General Library of Sardinian Studies (sublime), the Dictionary of the Sardinian language by Wagner and that of Giovanni Spano, etc., etc. Air conditioning, (nice) armchairs and chairs everywhere. This morning (Saturday) there is almost no one there, and the place seems even bigger. Movie silence, not even music for a western duel. Books of all kinds, many, free and on display. You would like to read them all, or at least skim through a large part of them, but you can't. Plus, just today I brought one from home to read in the car; I didn't think I'd find the MEM open again after more than two years of closure due to Covid. Now, behind the shelf, a lady seems interested in Russian literature. I pass her for a moment, then she disappears. After a while I decide to write a review on MEM: this one. And why not? It takes me about half an hour, with various reflections. Towards the end, I get a (silent) phone call that immediately kicks me out. I will send the story later, revised and corrected. E perché no?

It was born in 1738 as a military barracks and was the main headquarters of the Corps of Dragoons of Sardinia. find the "ghetto", it hosted the Jewish community of Cagliari in the Middle Ages. Today, the Jewish quarter, called Giudaria, is located in the blocks between via Santa Croce, formerly the vicus Iudeorum, and via Stretta. In this area there was also the Synagogue, later supplanted by the Basilica of Santa Croce. A small community of Jews was present in the Castle as early as the 13th century. With the Aragonese conquest, the Jews were expelled from the city, as from all Spanish possessions, in 1492.

Very disappointing. When we arrived, they explained that there’s no real evidence or historical proof that this was ever a Hebrew or Jewish cultural center. There are no exhibitions, no documents, no information at all about the Jewish community that once lived here. All you’ll find is a small room with unrelated, low-quality modern art, and they still charge 6 euros for admission. If you’re looking for Jewish history or culture, you won’t find it here. Definitely not worth the visit.

Very mixed feelings here. I had heard wonderful things about Cagliari, but mostly I was really looking forward to seeing the historical buildings. I love historical buildings and learning about different cultures. We booked one of the bus tours, we loved the ear pieces which translated in different languages. Wonderful 😊. But we were so disappointed to see graffiti.... everywhere!!!! Any surface with the smallest amount of space was sprayed with absolute nonsense. On houses, shops even historical buildings.... So disappointed. Such a shame when the youth of this wonderful city have no respect for their own heritage. But tour itself was wonderful, informative and even had chances to stop and take pictures of the flamingos and the breathtaking views.

Staff here only gave out information on Cagliari city and in quite a brusque manner. When I asked about travel to other parts of Sardinia they informed me that they only supplied info on Cagliari and that I should go to the airport tourist office for information. Really!! In the capital city of the island they couldn't help me. Also, not everyone who visits Sardinia comes through Cagliari airport. Unhelpful and rude manners.

Palazzo Doglio is an upscale hotel located in Villanova, offering refined rooms and suites for a comfortable stay. Situated in a lovely location slightly outside the city center, the hotel provides modern and spacious accommodations facing an internal square. The area around the hotel features popular bars and eateries, making it a beloved spot for both tourists and locals.
Palazzo Doglio is hands down the best place to stay in Cagliari. From the moment you arrive, you’re treated like royalty — the service is impeccable, warm, and attentive without ever feeling overbearing. The rooms are luxurious, beautifully designed, and incredibly comfortable, blending classic elegance with modern touches. The central courtyard is a stunning oasis, perfect for enjoying a quiet morning coffee or an evening drink. With top-tier dining options, a world-class spa, and a prime location just minutes from the city center and waterfront, Palazzo Doglio is more than a hotel — it’s an experience. Can’t wait to come back!

Second time staying at Palazzo Doglio. We had good memories the first time so we returned. The service is still very good (esp front desk and concierge) we appreciate the help given by Gianluca and colleagues for dental, hair saloon recommendations and booking appointments. Restaurant stuff (especially Giorgia) is full of smiles and attentive. The lady masseur is good. Highly recommend. Now the negatives - the hardware is starting to break down somewhat. The room phones don’t work, Aircon cannot be controlled or turned off … The restaurant food is hit and miss. We had the fregola which was good but the Ombrina (fish) came rock hard. Told the manager and they “recooked” another fillet which was more tender but the inside was raw. I had diarrhea after.

One of the best hotels in town. The elegance of this hotel together with the facilities and service are amazing. The location is also good and there are many options in the palazzo for shops and restaurants. There are some improvement points for the hotel though. The air conditioner in the room was not managed from the room, the temperature was too low and we couldn’t turn it off or change it. We had to contact with the reception and requested to turn it off completely which was not the ideal option but we didn’t have any. Either too cold with airco or too warm without air conditioner. The isolation of the room was terrible. Not between the rooms but through the door to the corridor. There was a gap on the door since it is not sealed well and even you can see the light coming from the outside of the room while sleeping. When the people talk and walk on the corridor you will hear the voices as if they are in the room. Every night I woke up in the middle of night because of these kind of noise. Lastly, even though we gave our plate number of the car for the registration of the park, the door didn’t automatically open and we had to call the reception every time when we want to enter to park and leave with our car. These are the improvement points that this level of hotel can take and provide even better service.

Excellent location and Service. Great place to stay while in Cagliari (small, and nice walk to old town). Rooms are clean, breakfast extremely good and very goods restaurants in the courtyard and close by. Lorenzo in the Reception was always helpful and friendly.

Apart from being one of the best appointed hotels I've stayed at the staff are fantastic. They remember and pay attention to the little details that make a temporary stay feel like family. A true city attraction and a place full of charm. Spotlessly clean with exceptionally friendly and attentive staff. The modern gym is equipped with brand‑new equipment, and the beautiful courtyard offers several restaurants and bars to suit every taste – an outstanding hotel!
Reb K — Google review
Disappointing service and misleading room service information I was very disappointed with my experience at this hotel. Booking sites list the property as offering 24-hour room service, and the in-room QR code menu clearly suggests that food can be ordered at any time. However, when I attempted to order food at around 11:30 pm on 2nd October, I was informed that only drinks were available. When I raised this with a manager, he was dismissive rather than helpful. Eventually, they agreed to send a club sandwich with fries, but when the food arrived it was cold. For a property that positions itself as a high-end luxury hotel, the service levels and staff attitude fell well below expectations. At the very least, the hotel should ensure that its advertised services accurately reflect what guests can actually expect during their stay.
David B — Google review
I booked a 3 night stay as a birthday gift for my mum + dad. The positive reviews & fantastic website convinced me: Palazzo Doglio is the right choice for their first time in Sardegna. And YES the team did not dissappoint! My parents were blown away from the moment they entered the hotel: they arrived early in the morning & got invited for breakfast - their room was ready a few minutes later. They loved the breakfast & the kind staff, their spacious room with balcony. Being not with them I was a bit anxious but the front desk team did an outstanding job! Communication was flawless & on point! HIGHLY can recommend this hotel both for personal stays but also gifted stays for your loved ones! MILLE GRAZIE TEAM PALAZZO DOGLIO. xx Katharina

The beach itself was nice and clean, but some uninhabited, dilapidated prefabricated buildings spoil the beach somewhat. However, the transition from the parking lot to the beach is nicely done (Original) Langer Sandstrand mit glasklaren Wasser.

This remarkable structure, dedicated to St. Nicolas, took over 500 years to complete, with its foundations laid in the 12th century and its Spanish colonial-style facade finished in the 18th century. Porta Cristina is a historic gateway to the Castello district in Cagliari. Built in 1825, it replaced the Gate of Soccorso and was named after Queen Maria Cristina of Bourbon. The area offers open spaces and is a major crossroad for drivers, yet it remains relatively uncrowded. It serves as a landmark for navigating the city and provides access to various attractions such as St. Pancratius Tower, Piazza Palazzo, Cathedral S.
Considering this is the highest point in Cagliari (or one of them), a tourist attraction and a major (yet narrow) crossroad for drivers crossing the hill, it usually doesn't get unbearably busy here. Opens up to nice open spaces on all 4 sides. Good phone reception. Always plenty of rentable scooters. The sewers make funny sounds. There's a bus stop. I saw a dog here once. Wear sunscreen. Call your mother, and use video. She would enjoy seeing you in such a cultural setting.

Nice old city gate with lots of history. Our guide told us it was once a prison. They are in various states of repair at the end of 2017. You can use it as a landmark for helping you find your way around the city.

Porta dei Leoni, also known as the Tower of the Lions or Eagles, has a rich history of withstanding attacks throughout the centuries. Despite being damaged by various assaults, it remains an intriguing entrance to the old city with two lion heads adorning its arch. This historic site is a beautiful example of Pisan fortification and offers visitors a glimpse into Cagliari's past.
The Porta dei Leoni on the medieval city walls of Cagliari (Sardinia), Italy, was the southern entrance to the Quartiere Castello from the lower town.
