Southend Pier is a must-visit attraction in Southend-on-Sea, offering a range of activities for visitors. It is the longest pleasure pier globally, stretching 1.33 miles and providing stunning views of the Thames Estuary. The pier features a train ride and Sealife Adventure aquarium, known as the first Zooquarium with various marine life exhibits.
Southend Pier, the world’s longest pleasure pier, offers stunning sea views and a nostalgic charm. A leisurely train ride or scenic walk leads to a small café at the end. While some areas feel weathered, it’s a must-visit for seaside lovers. Great for a day out!
Mihai M — Google review
World's longest Pier, 1.3 miles. It was so beautiful walking in the pier overlooking the sea. The ticket was only 1.50 walk both ways. Couldn't reach till the end of it but it was worth it. I can bet the end of the pier would be amazing. There are resting areas too midway for you to relax and enjoy the beauty of the sea.
Kajal S — Google review
The longest pier in the world. Currently running trips across to ports on the Kent side of the Thames estuary. We had breakfast in The Last Post, a brisk walk to the pier entrance. Then, hopped on the pier train to the end of the structure. Leisurely pint outside the cafe in the glorious sunshine before boarding the boat for the hour-long journey to Queenborough port for an explore and lunch. A scorcher of a day. Make sure you book the ferry crossing early
Andrew W — Google review
Very nice pier. It's over a mile long(!) We walked up and got the train back and it was £20 for a family of four. There are shops and cafes at the end but are very expensive. Great views from the pier itself.
John W — Google review
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ (4/5) Southend Pier was a good experience overall not amazing, but still enjoyable. The walk along the pier was peaceful and offered some lovely views. I took the train back, which felt like stepping into the past it has a charming 1940s-style look that gives it a unique character. What stood out most was the contrast in atmosphere. The pier has a calm, laid-back vibe, but once you head back toward the Adventure Island side, it suddenly feels like a completely different world ,busier, louder, and more energetic. It’s an interesting mix of tranquillity and fun. Worth a visit if you’re in the area!
Gulam M — Google review
Beautiful views and a relaxing place to unwind. The pier is really long, so taking the train one way is a good idea if you don’t feel like walking both ways. A bit pricey for what it is, but still a unique experience.
Ashok R — Google review
Really nice pier. It's amazing that you got the option to walk or use the railway. It's great fun for adults and children. Offer shops , restaurants.
Marta S — Google review
We had a great time here, we got the train out, had fish & chips, had coffee and walked back... a great way to spend a few hours, the lifeboat station on the end is also great, and the young couple that run it, are a blast. Much appreciated for looking after us.

Hadleigh Castle, a ruined 13th-century fortress refortified by Edward III during the Hundred Years War, offers stunning views of the marshlands. Situated on a London clay hill in open countryside west of Southend, it served as both a defensive stronghold and royal residence. The castle overlooks the Thames Estuary and provides opportunities for scenic walks along the estuary.
Amazing sunset but sunrise is even nicer. ❤️. Nice clean historical place. Ideal for picnic. Kids loved it. (No tickets required)
S U — Google review
Don't expect a massive castle like Arundel but do expect beautiful scenery over marshes. Oh to be invisible and travel back in time. There's no entry fee. Also don't expect cafes or toilets. The nearest cafe doesn't have visitor loos and you can't take your dog in. It's lovely though and provides employment for people with learning disabilities. There's a great country park very near which apparently has a loo in the hub. It was too hot for our dog but we'll definitely return to see the park. A final plus. There's a car park near the cafe but there's a free car park in Castle Lane.

My partner proposed here 😻😻😻 I can see the place from the train when I go to work. Such beautiful landscape and walking trail 😻😻😻😻 you can even see the biggest buildings of London from here 😅

Castle ruins, nearby extremely limited parking, good for a walk and a nice view. There's signage through the site explaining what parts of the castle can be seen.

We enjoyed exploring the ruins. The long leisurely walk was a good distraction from the dog ban on the beach.

Knowledgeable staff, beautiful building & gardens will be amazing once all the flowers are out, just beginning to come to life after Winter. Lovely walk around the Park itself, ponds with Ducks.

Nestled in Westcliff-on-Sea, the iconic Cliffs Pavilion is a must-visit destination for theatregoers in Southend-on-Sea. This latest addition to Southend's theatre scene offers a diverse range of live performances, including plays, comedy, concerts, and mainstream musicals. The venue's clifftop location provides dramatic views of the seafront and has made it a popular choice for various events, from theatrical shows to conferences.
Went to see 'The Classic Rock Show' i would highly recommend it. These guys were phenomenal! The venue was good and very easy to get in to and get seated. Bar was quick to get served at and venue staff were very friendly ! Support your local theatre and keep gigs like this alive ! Rock on 🤘

Brilliant show from Janette and Alijaz. Such an all round show supported by an excellent band. We had the pre dining show. The meal was lovely and our waitress Allison was so friendly and attentive.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ What an absolutely fantastic night at the Cliffs Pavilion! Luther Live was outstanding from start to finish. The singer not only captured Luther’s incredible voice but also his warmth and stage presence – it felt like a real celebration of his music. Every song had the audience singing along, and there were plenty of goosebump moments on the big ballads. The atmosphere was electric, the sound quality spot on, and the whole evening was filled with energy, joy, and nostalgia. If you’re a fan of Luther or just love great live music, this show is an absolute must-see. A perfect night of entertainment in a brilliant venue!
Stephen L — Google review
We have been to various different shows over the years and never had a bad experience. There are a variety of different performances to choose from with many family friendly options. There is plenty of parking available in the nearby car parks or down on the sea front (be advised of the many steps you need to climb from there). The theatre itself is spacious with different price options to choose from and there is a good amount of leg room. We opted for a side box for Jimmy Carr and decided the view was better elsewhere (still had a fantastic time). The staff are all friendly and happy to help. All in all one of our favourite venues.

Absolutely wonderful location with the best of views overseeing English Channel. We came to Southend-on-Sea for a concert and as expected THE THE was simply amazing, thank you Matt Johnson, and keep doing what you’re doing best! 🙏🏼

Just got home from seeing, The Tina Turner Musical! It was absolutely incredible. The cast were outstanding. The set incredible. The whole production was a triumph. I can not recommend this show highly enough. I have previously seen TINA in London, and this was just as good, and, maybe even a little bit better. We really are lucky to have such a great theatre in Essex!
Jai P — Google review
Not the best venue for acoustics or being able to see as the stalls are flat. However, the staff were very helpful and friendly.
John B — Google review
Nice theatre with good sound quality and comfortable seats. Good views. Only knocked down a star because everything is quite hard to find - no obvious signs for toilets etc. The flow of the place feels a bit off and queues for toilets are very long in intervals. I was directed to an accessible toilet despite not being disabled which could be problematic for disabled people who need them. It was also quite hard to find available staff to ask where things were. Would definitely come back but think better signage and toilets would make for a better experience.

The gallery features rotating temporary exhibitions showcasing art, photography, and sculpture. Additionally, visitors can explore the Fashion and Textiles collection with an extensive display of historic swimwear.
Brilliant vibe on Saturday Lots of fresh exhibits..including the wonderful "double take" with Simon Monk and Jennie Sharman Cox on till 28th May 23. The Old Leigh Studios Time & Tide collection with some amazing ceramics and a great hum from the jazz peeps downstairs.
Nicola U — Google review
Great free exhibition 'scene by the shore' about music in Southend. Has old photo's, posters etc. But also local artists making new works on response to the music scene.
Dave B — Google review
A fairly large, local, free to enter art gallery containing a mixture of different exhibitions- at my time of visiting (July 2018) I saw a gallery dedicated to old paintings, photographs, fashion and a brand new modern paintings exhibit being set up so you're sure to find something to interest you. The staff who run the gallery are really friendly and polite, making for a great visit. If you wish to support the gallery I'd strongly recommend making a purchase at the gift shop which is filled with a wide variety of different products.
Bartek S — Google review
Splendid soaring 50s modernist cavern with a few modest galleries lost inside. Impressive above all is the optimistic architecture of the complex of the five centre and surroundings I fear mostly lost on contemporary residents.
Michael B — Google review
Ever changing exhibitions with a local flavour, like this one about youth tribes gathering in southend over the years. Has some permanent parts too, like the Jazz archive. Do go in for a wander.
Stephen C — Google review
I was genuinely surprised at how diverse the exhibits were, all the while being very informative and touching upon different themes and ideas that are at once both historical and contemporary. It’s different than others that I’ve been to, which is why it’s something that I would always fondly remember.
David M — Google review
An absolutely wonderful place to visit. I visit several times a week for films, lectures and exhibitions

This is a great place to visit, it is so nice to visit, I used to come here for the library and it just brings back memories with the walls the way they are. I used to think as a child it felt blocky but I can now see the appeal. It has plenty to see and a jazz museum in the basement which used to be the children's books section.

Chalkwell Park is a 297-hectare park that offers a variety of attractions for visitors. The park features ornamental gardens, two playgrounds suitable for different age groups, athletic courts and fields. It is also home to arts organizations such as Metal, which hosts artist residencies and workshops in the area. Families can enjoy the playground areas designed for preschoolers and older children, as well as tennis courts, basketball courts, and a cafe serving a wide range of food and drinks.
Lovely place to play tennis at, the courts are just £6.5 per hour and they're well kept. The park itself is beautiful too, hosting two cricket fields, a cafe, a little lake and a flower garden. Positively delightful weekend walk.
Ricardo M — Google review
This is a very open park with a skateboard park, tennis courts, the Chalkwell park rooms has a cafe for refreshments, plus you have the Metal works art studio, it’s a well maintained park with a rose garden to. A number of different advents are held in the park through out the year. The reason it’s been given a 3star is there is nothing outstanding about it but it has a small carpark and lots of space for children and families to enjoy.
David — Google review
Not like the photos any longer. The once beautiful flower beds are mostly weeds, sadly just another neglected part of Southend

Great park with two play areas for different age groups, and a cafe and tennis courts. Makes getting the kids out of the house for a few hours easy as you can move from one spot to the next without them getting bored.

Small park but nice place for a stroll for a half an hour or so. Nicely labeled rose garden would be brilliant once they start to bloom. There was one rose called National Trust! Kids' play area was busy. Saw some heather growing nicely.

This park is lovely. It has so much for to offer, kids play ground, beautiful rose gardens, bike/scooter ramps and so on and on. Green fields round and round. Plenty parking spaces. Always a favourite for the kids scooting or riding their bikes. And all it takes is a bit of sunshine and this park would be packed. Brilliant. 5🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

We went to the fair as most rides were £1.50 .My grandchildren had the time of their life .The side stalls are very expensive £4 a go .Bought 3 waters that cost £6 At the end of the day you expect that. They went on the Waltzer the guy was amazing jumping on twirling them round he was like Spider Man took me back to my youth .I took cash as its alot easier than trying to pay by card but you can do both on most rides etc My youngest granddaughter who is 7 said it was the best day ever so worth every penny

Nestled in the heart of Southend-on-Sea, Southchurch Hall is a captivating 14th-century moated manor house that invites visitors to step back in time. This remarkable structure, believed to have roots dating as far back as the 9th century, showcases stunning original features such as smoke-blackened timbers and a grand Great Hall. The Tudor kitchen and Victorian bedroom offer fascinating insights into the lives of its former inhabitants, including the medieval de Southchurch family.
Been a few times. Beautiful spot for a picnic. Turtles, ducks, tranquil. Great for everyone. Wheelchair friendly. Has toilets but not always open. Small gift shop. Staff very knowledgeable. If you love history, you'll love this. And it's free. But there is a donation pot if you can.

Throughout the journey, the amazing staff on site skilfully guides you and offers amazing insights into every detail! Every corner is full of history and offers peaks into the daily life of the property’s residents of the last 700 years. From simple farmers, to lords, to revolts, this house has seen everything. Not only the inside is beautiful, but the outside garden/park is also stunning! This place should definitely be on any recommended list of places to see in the area

Visited there today what a lovely little park. No issue with the ponds and area. Ok so the ponds have some growth and some of the grass is tall.. all adds to the nature part and what the park is also for.. the animals and well as people. To be honest it was truly fantastic... If it was your own garden and house for sure you would be in love with the place. Go .. relax.. chill.. and let's the kids run and enjoy. Lot of different areas to fill your eyes. The house is stunning really and a fantastic job done on the restoration. A lovely lovely park.. deserves the 5 *.

Southend Central Museum & Planetarium is a historical gem that was originally built to house the Southend Library. The museum showcases local natural history and archaeological treasures, including a remarkable collection of Saxon gold. It was commissioned and funded by Andrew Carnegie, an immigrant who made his fortune in the steel industry and later dedicated much of his wealth to cultural and educational institutions.
Enjoyable museum. It's not massive, so it's doable in an hour or two, but the exhibits are very cool and highlight where locally the items came from. The staff/volunteers are very friendly and more than happy to provide extra context to the exhibits. The Saxon prince section is extremely fascinating and well worth the visit.
Kate P — Google review
An interesting local museum with an eclectic mix of exhibits.
Karen B — Google review
Well worth a visit, especially as it is free to enter. The museum concentrates on Southend's history throughout the ages showing you archaeological finds from the local area. It's exhibits are set up in a way that you are walking through each period of human history from neolithic stone age, Iron age Bronze age, Romon etc. They travel up the time line through to modern day and have a spectacular collection of period radios all manufactured in Southend. We went to see the planetarium which you do have to pay for but is also well worth the price of admission. There are toilet facilities and an area for you to eat your own packed lunch as there isn't a café and the tea/coffee machine was switched off. There is a car park not 2 minutes away with plenty of parking. We went on a Sunday and had the museum basically to our selves.

Great little museum. Very interesting re the saxon prince found in Southend. Didn't visit the planetarium but a friend said it was brilliant and her grandsons enjoyed it.
Sara C — Google review
I was curious about the planetarium, thinking it would be like the one on Baker Street (Madam Tussauds of old). This was on a tiny scale with a capacity of about ten people at the most. Seats were rigid and craning upwards to watch the show made it very uncomfortable. The atmosphere got a bit stale towards the end. I'm glad I went once to satisfy my curiosity.
Atul K — Google review
Tried to book the planetarium over the phone 3 or 4 attempts with no answer so though I'd drive down as there is no option to book online. Got there and asked have you booked? explained the situation. Told there is a show today but it's just started so you can't go in. Decided to have a quick look around, looked at the front of the museum (5mins) and went to walk though to a room at the back to be advised its £4.00 to come in this room as its a separate exhibition! Gave up and went to priory park. All in all a disappointing experience from the booking system by phone that no one answers to the actual museum.

The room itself was designed amazingly, with clues challenging but do able, my friend and I had an amazing experience and would definetly come again

We all had such a great time, there were 5 of us of different ages…. We all worked together solving these amazing clues which were scattered throughout. Amy our game master was amazing, keeping us on our toes and helping if we needed it. Our team only asked for 2 clues but Amy was always there encouraging us on. Recommend the pirate room to you all. It was great fun and we will definitely give one of the other rooms ago. Thank you Amy

Booked room 13 whilst we were on holiday. The location is great, right in the centre of all the shops so lots of options for food before or after the experience. We absolutely loved it. The instructions were clear, the setup was very clever and we managed to get within the time and only having used 3 clues. Highly recommended for family and friend groups.
Lindsay B — Google review
Our team of 3 did the Pirate Plunder room. It was really good fun with lots of different puzzles. Amber, our Escape Live helper, was brilliant - explained everything well prior to starting our escape and gave good clues when we asked. All in all a brilliant experience.
Leisa D — Google review
Rhiannon was a great host, very enthusiastic and pointed us in the right direction when we needed it. The theme was great & the puzzles were fun & challenging, everyone in our group played a part in beating the curse (family of 4, ages 10, 26, 40 & 58 years old). We managed to escape with the Pirate’s Treasure with 41 seconds to spare, not bad for our first game! Will definitely be booking another Escape Room soon!

I recently took my partner to tackle Room 13 for his birthday. We felt instantly welcome and everything was explained really clearly. Our games master was the lovely Maisie, who was brilliant throughout! Ready with a well timed handy hint or clue when we needed it. The room itself was challenging and we had a lot of fun.. even if we were terrible at it 😂 Would highly recommend! We will definately be back :)
Kirsty-May D — Google review
Me and my grand daughter had the best time in the pirates room at Southend. Rhiannon the facilitator was so much fun and super helpful. The room was well thought out and very interactive. We would definitely come again
Dawn — Google review
Had a great time, the room had some good puzzles and fun surprises. In our group we had a cross section of ages and people who had done several escape rooms in the past and some who are new to them. Everyone was able to get involved and solve different parts of the room. Would definitely recommend this to others!

Shoebury East Beach is a hidden gem that promises a delightful day out for families and friends alike. With ample parking conveniently located just across from the beach, visitors can easily access this stunning stretch of sand. The beach features spacious restrooms and is adorned with vibrant beach huts, adding to its charm. One of the highlights here is that barbecues are permitted, making it an ideal spot for picnics under the sun.
Sure! Here’s a short, natural-sounding review you can post or share: ⸻ We visited Shoebury East Beach last Sunday and had a lovely time. When we arrived, the tide was really far out and the water felt miles away, but by the evening it came back right up to the shore, which was fun to watch. There’s a big grassy area with trees near the parking, and some playing fields on the side where the kids had loads of fun. It’s a peaceful spot, perfect for families. We’ll definitely be back!
Majid K — Google review
Shoebury East Beach is an absolute delight! The beach is clean, spacious, and offers stunning views of the estuary. It's a perfect spot for a relaxing day out, whether you're enjoying a quiet stroll along the shore or soaking up the sun. The long stretch of sandy beach is ideal for families, with plenty of space for kids to play and build sandcastles. One of the best things about East Beach is how peaceful it feels, even on a sunny day. The calm, shallow waters make it a great spot for paddling and safe for children. There are also convenient facilities nearby, including a car park and a café where you can grab a bite to eat. If you're looking for a beautiful, less crowded beach to unwind and enjoy the natural scenery, Shoebury East Beach is definitely worth a visit.
Bhumika G — Google review
A stretch of beach in Shoeburyness, fabulous for wind surfing and kite boarding. It is dog friendly between 30th September and 30th March. There are two car parks but one is locked from October to March, parking is free after 6pm. There are two great cafés and public toilets. Next to the beach are massive, flat, green fields, perfect for picnics, ball games and walking the dog. Looking out to sea on East Beach, to the left, you can see The Boom which is a historical site. When the tide is out, you can walk out on the mud.
Heather M — Google review
We had a fabulous time with the dogs at the beach!! This is my second time coming to the beach and we love it, unfortunately not that sandy, but it is once you get into the sea!! Spacious, and a kiosk onsite with food bits, toilets ect
Zeba H — Google review
Good place for family and feiends dayout if there is good weather.
Rabin T — Google review
Lovely day out with the family. Took a loooooong walk out to the sea at low tide, which was nice. There's a shower to wash the sand off your feet. There's a cafe nearby that sells ice cream. There are toilets, but they were absolutely disgusting. There's no lock on the disabled toilet, so that was nasty, too.
Peter M — Google review
A good beach, but not among the best beaches near London!
Imran ( — Google review
This was a smaller beach compared to the main one in Southend. It had good parking at reasonable price, the beach was clean, not overcrowded. It does have toilet facilities and a cafe. The water was clear however it had a strong current and lots of sea grass. I would recommend it plenty of space on the green to have a picnic, suitable for families.

The Peterboat is a traditional pub located in Old Leigh, Southend, offering stunning estuary views and an outdoor terrace. It's a popular choice, especially during the summer months, due to its prime coastal location. The pub serves traditional English food and has a carved wooden bar and a cockle shed. While it may get busy during peak hours, many visitors find the wait for food well worth it.
First visit. Came for a meal. Located in the centre of the main road through Leigh-on-Sea. Traditional pub to the front with smart interior and restaurant to the side. Huge beer garden to the side. This place is very popular (supposed to be a great sea food restaurant, and it was) and does get very busy on sunny days, thankfully we had booked a table inside in advance. Seated in a nice little conservatory at the rear with nice breeze blowing through which was brilliant on such a hot day. The menu had a great choice of dishes at slightly high prices but worth paying a little extra for. We ordered three main courses to share. The chowder was stunning, a specialty of the restaurant, served in a large bread bun, the bread absorbed the flavours and sauce, gorgeous. The fish pie was faultless. The fish on the fish and chips was a tad watery, my only criticism.Drinks choice was good, at reasonable prices. The service was perfect, welcoming, friendly and helpful. This is a solid 5 star restaurant bordering on 6 stars. I would definitely recommend a visit here but make sure to book a table if coming at peak times or sunny days.

Such a vibe! We went to this one on a Sunday evening and it was such a wonderful unexpected find. There was live music, everyone was dancing, while enjoying a drink watching the sunset. For a minute it didn't feel like the UK. It was busy but the team were so welcoming and found a way to find us a table as quickly as possible. We went for a light snack and ended up having the Sunday roast. Best Sunday roast I've ever had which is crazy to say. 10/10 Recommend!

I really liked the atmosphere of this place. 🏠We were at a table outside, which was even better. 🍋The waiter who served us was very clever and kind. 🌊This place is definitely suitable for those who love romantic evenings by the sea. 🐚Also, despite the full board, the staff did their job great. By the way, you can also bring dogs here 🐾

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ The Peterboat – Leigh-on-Sea 🦪🍺 Came for the views, stayed for the cockle chowder—hands down the best I’ve ever had. Silky, briny, packed with flavour, and served with amazing warm bread to mop up every last drop. 🔥🍞 Shared a perfectly poured Guinness with my wife and then enjoyed a relaxed walk along the seafront—couldn’t ask for a better afternoon. 🌊🚶‍♂️🚶‍♀️ Service was professional and friendly, the place spotless, and everything ran like clockwork even when busy. 👏✨ Tip: try for an outside table if the weather’s kind—hard to beat those estuary views. We’ll be back. ✅ #ThePeterboat #LeighOnSea #CockleChowder #SeafoodWin #GuinnessDoneRight

The pier is a well-known landmark in Southend-on-Sea and is home to a museum with displays of historic railway cars, slot machines and costumes from the early 19th century to the early 20th. The pier also has an electric train that takes you all the way to the end, where you can find a lifeboat centre, cafe and shop.
I love piers, and Southend Pier was a fun experience to walk. It is the longest pier in the world, and the fact that it's on the Thames and not the sea, makes it even more unique. I wanted to return with the pier train, but due to its low frequency, I decided to walk the return as well. The view, whether with high or low tide is amazing, and all in all, a great day out from London in less than a hour away.
Guy A — Google review
Really long pier. Rail travelling take few minut csn walking also.Worth a visit. Nice view. Town is also interesting and clean. Is many attractions, nice restaurants.
Robert C — Google review
Worth the money! It was lovely to experience the train up to the end of the pier. Lovely views from there. Plenty of seats to sit down, a restaurant that serves food and drink. There was a DJ playing by the bar area, which sounded good. The only thing negative is that it wasn't very well organised when waiting for the train and the staff were abit grumpy. Coming back our door wouldn't open but no one was there waiting for the train to arrive back so a few of the passengers had to false it open.
T R — Google review
The longest pier in the world. Currently running trips across to ports on the Kent side of the Thames estuary. We had breakfast in The Last Post, a brisk walk to the pier entrance. Then, hopped on the pier train to the end of the structure. Leisurely pint outside the cafe in the glorious sunshine before boarding the boat for the hour-long journey to Queenborough port for an explore and lunch. A scorcher of a day. Make sure you book the ferry crossing early
Andrew W — Google review
Really nice pier. It's amazing that you got the option to walk or use the railway. It's great fun for adults and children. Offer shops , restaurants.
Marta S — Google review
Beautiful views and a relaxing place to unwind. The pier is really long, so taking the train one way is a good idea if you don’t feel like walking both ways. A bit pricey for what it is, but still a unique experience.

A nice intimate venue. We sat right at the back and still had a great view. It was restricted leg room in the seats we booked so bare that in mind if you are on the taller side. Lots of parking (as recommended on the website) a short walk away. I Would definitely book to go here again.

Nice venue for a show although a bit dated and need of some TLC and a fresh coat of paint. Friendly staff and comfortable seats and good views from almost all angles. Had a very nice evening listening to a Queen tribute act. I think their band name is Majesty.

Great theatre to watch a show. Plenty of leg room in the dress circle with great view of the stage. The theatre looks a bit run down but certainly gives it a bit of character! Definitely worth pre-ordering your interval drinks which are delivered to your seat

Lovely to walk around during summer. Some nice coastal path, great for wildlife. Roads are extremely uneven driving into the carpark though, be careful to avoid potholes!
Chloe D — Google review
It is a very good place for long walk, specially on hot sunny day to capture some vitamin D. However, there is not enough facility of toilet, which you can find in a golf cafe, where you need to buy something to use it. The natural beauty is so full, that you won't regret going there. If you are lucky you might see the chorus dance of birds in the sky. Enjoy.
Dr E — Google review
A beautiful nature reserve right on the estuary. It offers quiet and tranquil walking routes either along the river which will take you to Benfleet or along the various routes crossing the reserve. There is plenty of parking either at the entrance to the reserve or right at the very end of the road where you can also launch river vessels, canoes/dinghies/motor boats etc into the water (charge). There are lots of birds to watch as well as the traffic on the river. You will also be able to see Hadleigh castle in the distance. Both Leigh-on-Sea and Benfleet stations are close enough to the path that you could walk from one to the other.

Ounce you go to the last carpark, their is one hide ....The only thing is it's quite muddy on route to get to...it took me 39 mins. With a lot of help from locals,to get to,but it was well worth it,in spite the fact that the path way ,was muddy, and it rained quite heavily. They could of had shutters through the windows, which could of helped more to keep you dry...
