The Museo e Tesoro del Duomo di Monza is a captivating destination that beautifully encapsulates the rich history and artistry of the region. Nestled within the stunning Gothic Cathedral, this museum showcases an impressive collection of artifacts, including the renowned Iron Crown, a significant relic from early medieval times. Visitors can marvel at exquisite pieces from the Longobard Treasure and explore artworks spanning from the 1300s to contemporary creations in its dedicated Carlo Gaiani section.
Impressive treasury. The core of exhibition is a set of late antiquity and early middle ages artifacts. I adore this style: heavily golden and a lot of large gems, no way to find two similar ones. So many centuries had passed before this "imperfection" started to be so desirable in the modern art styles. I was also impressed with a diptych portraying Stilicho and his wife - such a touch to the history of the last days of Western Roman Empire it was. Iron Crown is located in the church in Theodelinda Chapel, ask on the museum desk how to get there if you want to see this relic.
Sergei B — Google review
climbing 500 stairs up and then descending 500 stairs down it is not as bad as it sounds since the steps are small I guess they are intended for smaller stature people on the middle ages. Superb view as expected but because of immense height , most of sights are no longer seen
Wing A — Google review
Clean place, fast kitchen, nice staff, but a bit crowded and quality always stable and good. I was there in spring 2024
Hoa T — Google review
In my opinion this is one of the most incredible medieval museums in Europetotally underrated, but not didactic enough. There is not much left anywhere of the period between the fall of the Roman Empire and the early Renaissance. This museum has several unique pieces of jewelry, the crown of with the iron nails, and every day articles. It's a bit of the missing link of what happened after the call of the Roman Empire. The museum is not interactive so it is more adequate for people with some background knowledge of the period and who already know they live history. We spent a whole afternoon here.
Georginamgo — Google review
An interesting museum related to the Cathedral, also including many relevant historical items -and of course the most important one is the Iron Crown. Everything is well exposed, easy to understand, the guide was very good, and we had a great time visiting it.
J R — Google review
Phone ahead to book a tour of the Tesoro, with the excellent, English-speaking staff, and you could have a very special experience. Most visiting Monza will know of the Iron Crown, the ancient relic of Christendom, wielded by Charlemagne and Napoleon, etc etc. So, I was expecting there to be a large crowd of tourists. I was very wrong! Instead, I was treated to an extended, 1-on-1 tour of the cathedral treasury and viewing of the Crown with an excellent guide, who was more than happy to explain all the history and legends surrounding this relic at length. Still cannot believe I was the only one there. A very, very special place.

In the heart of Monza's historic city center stands the iconic Palazzo dell'Arengario, a centuries-old brick building that once served as the town hall. This impressive structure features a bell tower and graceful arches on its ground floor, showcasing a blend of architectural styles inspired by Milan's Palazzo della Ragione. Overlooking Piazza Roma, this strategic location has made it a symbol of the city.
It’s location is nice, close to the train station and in the vicinity of the duomo and other attractions in the center.

The Arengario was built in the 13th century and is named after its original function as town hall. The building has a portico surmounted by an upper floor that was used for councils. The architecture was inspired by the Palazzo della Ragione of Milan.

Ponte dei Leoni, also known as Lions' Bridge, is a triple-arched pedestrian bridge adorned with stone lion statues at each corner. Constructed in the 19th century to connect the capital with neighboring Lecco, it has become one of Monza's most iconic landmarks. The bridge features design elements influenced by King Napoleon and his family during the French occupation. It stands near the Tower of Teodolinda and offers a glimpse into the city's Roman heritage.
Very beautiful bridge in the town of Monza with the river passing through and the view of the buildings in the back. I recommend it as a tourist attraction.

One of my favorite places to relax in the city, the addition of the cafes allow you to on a nice day, and the tide is high on the river, enjoy a quick drink in a notoriously Lombardian fashion.
Will M — Google review
Cute little short bridge , but with quite a history to it 🦁 there are 4 statuettes of lions , on each points of the bridge. However, it was the Romans who first constructed the bridge on that spot.
Kandi D — Google review
I'm sure I'm being a philistine, but aside from the (nice) lion statues and the fact that it's a stone bridge and hence "pretty", I'm not really sure that it offers much as an attraction. I could equally write a review of a lamppost and it'd be the same. It's s stone bridge. It's nice. There's nothing wrong with it. But it's not somewhere you'd specifically go to visit.

Nestled just a short stroll from the Villa Reale, the Cappella Reale Espiatoria stands as a poignant tribute commissioned by King Vittorio Emanuele III of Italy. This exquisite chapel marks the very spot where anarchist Gaetano Bresci tragically assassinated King Umberto I on July 29, 1900.
Molto interessante. The fescoes were stunning
Pauline V — Google review
When you visit this place, you understand why Umberto was killed. It gives the same sensation as visiting Versailles in Paris, although it is much much smaller. When you see the excessive wealth, and know how much poverty was created to fund the wasteful spending of the nobility, you understand why people assassinate nobles. It makes you sad and angry to see such a wasteful display of wealth, especially one which gets almost no visitors. It's a quiet, peaceful, and beautiful place. But it's also terrifying and makes you want to cry. But not for Umberto. For Umberto's victims. Hopefully the Italian Anarchists keep putting up the graffiti in support of Bresci on the walls nearby. The graffiti brings a smile to your face and gives you hope for Italy despite the generations of fascism from Umberto to Mussolini to the Years of Lead, to Berlusconi and Meloni in the more recent years.

Nothing special in my opinion, but if you’re into history it might be an interesting place for you. It’s free to enter, has a little garden at the back and the entrance to the crypt.

Villa Reale di Monza is a grand neo-classical estate featuring royal apartments, a chapel, and expansive park and gardens. Visitors can take guided tours to explore the historic complex. The estate is known for its regal apartments that offer a glimpse into court life. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Villa Reale, Monza – A Timeless Lesson in Wealth & Legacy Walking through Villa Reale is like stepping into a blueprint for success—where strategy, luxury, and longevity have shaped history. 🏰✨ This palace isn’t just a feast for the eyes, it’s a lesson in leadership and well-being: ✔️ Vision & Structure – Every great empire, like every great business, thrives on strong foundations. ✔️ True Luxury – Not excess, but access to beauty, serenity, and a quality life. ✔️ Longevity & Prevention – Royalty understood that health is the key to abundance—a lesson just as relevant today. A must-visit for those who think beyond the present—Villa Reale is a masterclass in success, past and future.

Mediocre experience inside. The library without books, the rooms with almost not furniture, in lack of the latest the upper flow is filled with modern art that fills completely out of place with few exceptions. Some of the photos here on Google were a bit outdated or misleading for our visit. At the same time, with noticing that you only pay 10 EUR for the entry ticket, so you don’t loose much. During our visit, the English tour wasn’t an available option, while the Italian one included in the ticket price.
Kiryl S — Google review
The entrance ticket costs €10 and includes a guided tour. What’s special is that instead of just one guide, there are 4 guides located in different rooms of the Villa, each explaining the history, architecture, and details of the palace. When I visited, the explanations were only in Italian (not sure if tours are also available in other languages, maybe depending on the day or group). The tour of the Villa Reale itself takes about 1 hour and 15 minutes. If you also want to explore the exhibition about the Second World War and the second floor with additional rooms showcasing modern art, then plan for around 2 hours in total. Booking your timeslot online is recommended on weekends. To explore the park around the building a bicycle is advised.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ A Royal Experience at Villa Reale, Monza! Visiting Villa Reale in Monza was more than just a trip—it was a journey through history, wealth, and the art of longevity. Walking through its grand halls and stunning gardens, I was reminded that true success isn’t just about wealth but about vision, structure, and well-being—principles that have shaped great leaders for centuries. 🏰 A Masterpiece of Strategic Thinking – Every detail of this palace speaks of careful planning and an empire built on foresight and purpose—just like any successful business or legacy. 💎 Luxury Beyond Material Wealth – Villa Reale embodies the idea that true abundance isn’t about excess, but about access—to beauty, serenity, and a lifestyle that prioritizes quality over quantity. 🌿 A Lesson in Longevity & Prevention – The historical elegance of this place reminds us that those who thrived understood the power of sustainability, clean living, and holistic well-being. The same principles apply today—investing in health, clear thinking, and conscious choices is the true key to abundance. If you are an entrepreneur, visionary, or someone who values success, history, and holistic well-being, this is a must-visit destination. Villa Reale is not just a palace; it’s a living lesson in wealth, leadership, and lasting impact. ⭐ Highly recommended for those who seek inspiration and timeless wisdom. #VillaReale #5StarExperience #HistoryMeetsLuxury #WealthAndWellBeing #EntrepreneurMindset #LongevitySecrets #SuccessAndHealth

Beautiful ancient royal residence where to spend a relaxing couple of hours in Monza. Entry fee is €10 bookable online or at the counter. Those days the garden was not available for site visit probably due to some trees brought down by storms, but still worth the experience. I would have preferred guided tours all along the rooms of the villa instead of just an introduction.

Gorgeous villa in Monza! The interior apartments and rooms that you can tour on the first and second floors are insanely beautiful - even better than Versailles. Our tour guide Salvatore was the absolute best and we learned a lot about the history behind the decoration of the rooms, the family, and the furniture! Unfortunately we did not have enough time planned but will absolutely be back next time we’re in Monza. :)

The Chiesa e Convento di Santa Maria al Carrobiolo, situated in Monza's Piazza Carrobiolo 8, was constructed in the 16th century as a church connected to the existing Barnabites convent. Best morning mass in Monza
Paolo L — Google review
(Translated by Google) Unfortunately, this church in Monza was also closed on Sundays and I found no indications on the opening hours, apart from Holy Masses. It's a shame because, from what we read, it has many masterpieces by important artists. The complex, located in the square of the same name, is made up of a church and convent which are stylistically different. To find the oldest (13th century) and original part, keep in mind the bell tower (the oldest in the city) and by going around the complex on the left and then turning right arriving at the river (about 150-200 m), you will be able to admire Both the flat apse and the Lombard red brick bell tower are better. Everything else was modified by the Barnabites in the sixteenth century, who took over from the Humiliati. The church is the only survivor of the Humiliati in Monza. The current main facade, opened by a large serliana, is divided into two orders, with a stone portal and tympanum at the top.

The Parking Bridge of Lions is a historic bridge in Monza that dates back to 1842. It was built as part of a rearrangement of the military route and replaced the previous Arena Bridge. The bridge offers convenient access to the city center and features small but spacious parking spaces, providing a sense of security for parked vehicles. Although it may be relatively expensive, visitors appreciate the peace of mind knowing that their cars are well taken care of while parked there.

All in all it wouldn't be bad but for the cost you would expect different care, considering that parking in Piazza Repubblica in Milan costs less! ***I would add that some car parks do not trigger the time for just a few minutes of overrun, while in this one for just one minute you pay for the next hour in full.... so in this case, take it easy 😁. The Church of Santa Maria degli Angeli was constructed in 1608 by the priest and scholar Bartolomeo Zucchi, who tragically succumbed to the plague in 1630. It was built near his father's house and dedicated to the Blessed Virgin, on the very spot where San Carlo Borromeo had performed a miraculous healing in 1578. Despite its small size, this church is known for its charming atmosphere and lovely stained glass windows.

(Translated by Google) It was not open so I have to limit the evaluation only to the external part and the historical-religious value it has. It was the priest and scholar Bartolomeo Zucchi who wanted to found a public church dedicated to the Virgin at his father's house, by 1608. His was a rich and noble family and the desire to build the church came to him following the miracle performed by St. Carlo Borromeo on 11 August 1578 in this very area (he had healed a woman from Monza from serious ailments). The church was officiated by the Jesuits and had rich furnishings. Bartolomeo died of the plague in 1630 and his church resisted until the 19th - 20th century, when it was demolished to widen the road. At that point it was replaced by a new church with neo-Gothic shapes, which we still see today. It was designed by the architect. Spirit Maria Chiappetta. In front of the church, on the opposite side, there is the monument to S. Carlo Borromeo.

The Parrocchia di S. Giovanni Battista Duomo di Monza is a centuries-old church with a stunning marble facade and intricate frescoes, as well as a treasury of religious relics. It stands on the site where Queen Theodelinda built a basilica in 595 AD, according to medieval legend inspired by a dream she had.

The Duomo di Monza is an absolute must-visit for anyone exploring the area. While Milan’s cathedral gets most of the attention, this stunning church has nothing to envy—it’s just as breathtaking in its own right and offers a more intimate, less crowded experience. One of the highlights of the Duomo di Monza is its incredible wall paintings. The entire building is covered in beautifully detailed frescoes, creating a truly immersive experience as you step inside. The artistry and craftsmanship are remarkable, making it easy to lose yourself in the intricate scenes and rich colors that bring the space to life. If you're in Milan and have time for a short trip, I highly recommend visiting Monza to see this architectural masterpiece. It’s a hidden treasure that deserves just as much recognition as its more famous counterpart!

One of the most harmonic architecture I have ever seen. Facade impresses you with clearness and finalizeness in each line. Two-color solution is extremely stylish and reminds of Tuscany architecture traditions though with a pinch of Lombardian medieval decorative taste. Interior is from much newer ages but it doesn't interfere with the overall perception: it is peaceful and revered shrine, we were lucky to see the preparations for a wedding ceremony, it made this place even more charming. There is an important chapel to the left of the high altar - Theodelinda Chapel dedicated to the early medieval queen of Lombards who, is believed, commissioned this basilica and gave a beginning to the prosperity of Monza. The chapel is decorated with frescoes of Zavattari and is the place where the Iron Crown of Italian kings is stored. To visit the chapel you should ask for it on the museum desk (entrance is from the church just to the left of the chapel or from the street). Ah, yes, a peacock-lectern is splendid though in my case the choir of wedding singers stood around so I can't eximine its nice decorations but I enjoyed the singing much more to be honest.

The frescoes are exquisite and have been expertly restored to their original splendor. Of particular interest is the Crown of Italy, which holds a fascination for many visitors. Access to the chapel is only possible through a guided tour that lasts around half an hour, at a cost of 8 units of currency.

(Translated by Google) Like many places in Monza, it has been completely transformed by nineteenth-century restorations. The original church dates back to the 14th century, but practically nothing remains. The façade, restored by Maciachini, appears discreetly along Via Italia. It's rare to find it open, if it happens it's worth going in to get an idea of the havoc that was done in the 19th century. In short, nothing significant. The request to collect signatures to become a place of FAI's heart was also exaggerated. (Original) Come molti luoghi a Monza, è stata completamente stravolta dai restauri ottocenteschi. (Translated by Google) Unfortunately only seen from the outside. The complaint I make about many churches in the city is the fact that they do not have a panel posted with the opening times (and days). However, there is an information panel with a brief description of the monument, which is useful (the indication of the churches on this route, put in a linear way, in my opinion is confusing because they are not located in this way). However, the building is located a short distance from Piazza Trento-Trieste, along the central Viale Italia, a very important connection between the city and Milan. For this reason the church took the name S. Maria in Strada. It was built by the Franciscan Tertiaries between 1348 and 1368 who entrusted the project to the Milanese Ambrogiolo. Passed to the Augustinians (1393) of the Milanese convent of S. Marco, it was rebuilt (subsequently, in 1756) internally in Baroque style. In 1870 it was restored on the outside, which preserved the Gothic style. It is composed of a fake loggia and terracotta decorations, with the insertion of symbols such as the six-pointed star (Star of David, for many "Seal of Solomon"), the Flower of Life, etc. In the niche above the rose window there is a copy of the Madonna with Child ("Virgin with the Girdle"), the original of which is in the Monza Cathedral Museum. The imposing bell tower is visible from different angles.

(Translated by Google) I think it is the church that I liked and surprised the most after the DUOMO in Monza. The truth is that I had been visiting the city's churches all morning and I was already a little tired, and I wasn't expecting too much from this "other" baroque church, but upon entering I was immediately captivated. I highly recommend your visit. Furthermore, behind it there is a convent.

It is striking how it is decorated, excellent details, there is not a single corner that is not in place, everything is harmonious and tidy. The soul finds itself in a position of great amazement, of adoration of the sacramental Lord, in the perpetual Eucharistic exposition. If you want to encounter silence, enter this church. Entering on the left, near the candles, on the stand there are usually books whose sale, free of charge, serves to finance small projects in Africa (school education, water wells....). I was fascinated by it because it is a beautiful environment for those who want to retreat to themselves. (Original) Da visitare. Molto curata e ricca di arredi. The Catholic Church known as Chiesa San Maurizio, located in Milan's historical center, is one of the many religious establishments that can be found throughout the city. This beautiful church, along with others like Santa Maria in Strada and Santa Maria al Carrobiolo, adds to the elegant ambiance of Milan's architectural landscape. The Chiesa San Maurizio holds great significance due to its legendary association with the nun of Monza and her vows.

(Translated by Google) I came across Via Santa Margherita by chance while I was wandering around Monza and discovered this church with a beautiful terracotta façade; doing some research, I discovered that it was a church annexed to the old convent of the "nun of Monza". The Church has a single nave with richly frescoed vaults and walls, but which would need restoration because they are blackened by time. Since it was Sunday at that time there was the mass said in Latin with the pre-Vatican II rite, with the celebrant facing the altar with his back to the faithful. Overall a beautiful church worth visiting.

(Translated by Google) The church of San Maurizio, near the former church of Santa Margherita, is a religious building in Monza. The current building stands on the site of the previous monastery of Santa Margherita, founded by the Umiliati in the 13th century and occupied by the nuns of the order. In 1469 a new church dedicated to Saints Margaret and Catherine occupied the site of the medieval oratory. The monastery is famous for the story of Marianna de Leyva (1575-1650), the Gertrude, nun of Monza of the Betrothed. At the beginning of the 18th century, however, the church became in such precarious conditions that, in 1736, its total renovation became necessary. In 1785, once the monastery was suppressed and the church was deconsecrated[1], various buildings in the complex were sold and various events followed; the cloister in particular was partly demolished and then, from 1956, a condominium occupied most of its surface. A small portion of the ancient monastery still survives today trapped among the condominiums, and in particular the cellar and the well which over the years have kept their original appearance almost intact. Since 1881 the church has belonged to the cathedral of Monza which resumed worship there by transferring the "title" of the ancient nearby church of San Maurizio, which had previously been demolished to make way for via Ferdinandea (today via Vittorio Emanuele). The interior, which was once divided by a transversal wall to separate the space reserved for the nuns from the public one, still preserves frescoes and paintings from both the church of Santa Margherita and the nearby demolished church of San Maurizio, in addition to the subsequent decorations added in Eighteenth century. On the wall of the counter-façade there is an important bellows organ, from the 18th century. Outside, to the left of the baroque facade, the entrance portal of the ancient convent is still visible, which has now inexplicably become the entrance to a private condominium, with the room that housed the exhibit wheel where abandoned newborns were left.

Over the years, Monza has not fallen into decay but has fallen in every way; starting from the broken streets/sidewalks, to the unsafety that exists when one walks around, to the lack of lighting that is absent or downright miserable in the city, to the scarcity of means of transport, to the lack of organization of events and activities for everyone of all ages. IN MY OPINION, MONZA SHOULD RETURN BELOW MILAN AS IT IS NOT AT ALL ABLE TO BE MANAGED INDEPENDENTLY. WE ARE IN 2025 NOT IN 1800 WE MUST EVOLVE.

The Saletta Reale museum has recently undergone restoration and is now a sight to behold. Visitors have only a few days to witness its beauty while it remains open. The museum showcases stunning artwork and artifacts, which are sure to leave visitors in awe. One should not miss the chance of seeing this spectacular display before it closes again.
(Translated by Google) In Monza station there is a small, important treasure of Monza's history. I recommend you visit Platform 1, this small but charming Saletta Reale, or rather a reception room for royal travelers and their guests. Inside the room, Mr. Lorenzo, who was very kind, welcomed me and explained the history of this wonderful room and all its details. It was a real fortune and a great opportunity to visit it, as it is only open occasionally like today for example (Thursday from 3.30pm to 5pm) and the visit was completely free. After the death of King Umberto I on 29 July 1900, the Savoys abandoned the city and the Villa Reale. Thus began the dark and decadent years for the Saletta Reale of the Monza station, becoming first a warehouse, then a restaurant and a warehouse. It gradually deteriorated due to rainwater infiltration, due to an old heating system and numerous repaintings. As the years passed, traces of it were completely lost, until in 2000 it returned to light to regain its role today, and for some time now: a place that hosts artistic and cultural exhibitions. The Saletta Reale of Monza station has been able to overcome moments of "abandonment" and oblivion, to return to fulfill the task assigned to it by destiny: welcoming history and preserving it.

Recently restored as it was attacked by humidity and infiltrations and was even used as a warehouse, today it can be visited but only in certain periods of the year. A wonderful, fairy-tale place, which welcomed the Savoy royals during their travels and which was closed after the assassination of the King. I recommend you visit it, if you happen to be there, until January 7, 2022, for free. Green pass mandatory, you will also find a guide who will explain the history of this precious site.
