History Museums
Royal Cornwall Museum, located in Truro, is a treasure trove of art and culture. Established in 1818 by The Royal Institution of Cornwall, the museum showcases a diverse collection of over one million artifacts from around the world. Visitors can explore exhibits on minerals, wildlife, and the region's history. Notable highlights include an Egyptian mummy and the Rashleigh mineral gallery.
Highly recommend the exhibition currently running at the Royal Cornwall Museum, “Uncharted - Sea Journals of a Cornish Mariner” by artist Julia McKenzie who has created an amazing body of work inspired by her great-grandfathers sea diaries from the 1890s. The work is absolutely exquisite, the stories are incredibly moving and the history is so interesting. On until 2nd November. Plus at the RCM is the amazing new interactive Rocks and Minerals gallery.

This was our first visit, and we really enjoyed it! It’s a small but interesting museum in the heart of Truro. It took about an hour to walk through, and there was plenty to see. I really liked the old furniture and antiques. The museum is great for all ages, with something for everyone to enjoy.
Kamagra U — Google review
I haven't been here since I was a kid when my mum used to take me and my brother every Friday after school to see the mummy! Absolutely fabulous building and is immaculate, the 80's exhibition brought back so much nostalgia 🥰 The staff were all amazing and we had a Learning Assistant come and talk to us about the paintings we were looking at, he was so knowledgeable and a credit to the team. Will definitely go back again and not leave it so long! Well worth a visit .
Tamsin — Google review
Superb museum, well worth a visit. Situated in the heart of town, has all the history of Cornwall, art, playing spaces for kids. Variety for everyone. Building itself is worth seeing from the inside. Highly recommend
Mantas — Google review
Wow! I was surprised with this museum. It's much bigger than I was expecting. My children loved exploring all the rooms and all the old artifacts. They especially enjoyed the Egyptian area. Children were free adult about 7.50 Has a cafe so you can chill and have a coffee. Have a little wonder in the small shop
Gemma S — Google review
A nice county museum, with interesting collections, nicely presented. The building is lovely, and quite accessible. Good museum shop, with an excellent cafe.
Peter B — Google review
Quite reasonably priced to get in, manages to avoid the cluttered appearance that can bedevil museums that try to get too much out on display. Informative, concise and worth a visit. Suggest allowing 1 to 1 1/2 hours.
Alex E — Google review
This museum was a disappointment. The exhibits were randomly grouped, the captions were inadequate, lacking detail, and sometimes factually incorrect. There was very little about Cornish history and quite a lot of wokeness about how awful the British empire was. The free local history museum in Bodmin is far better. Go there instead.

Truro Cathedral is a stunning Victorian Gothic Revival Church located in the heart of Truro, Cornwall. It was constructed in 1880 and is the only cathedral built in the UK after St Paul's in London. The cathedral boasts three spires, with the tallest reaching 250 meters high, making it one of just three cathedrals in the country to have this feature.
Very interesting and nice looking Cathedral in Truro centre. Well worth a visit and entrance is free. Nice little square with benches at the main entrance.

Fabulous cathedral, lovely stain glass, marble fonts, stunning ceilings & decor. Great display of tapestries depicting Genesis & how God created the world. Well worth a visit. Free to enter, but encouraged to make a donation.
Julia H — Google review
Medieval Gothic might be preferable but for the County Town, the Victorian version works just fine. Some wonderful art treasures and connections with the past. It's the light which impresses and the private chapels. The 19th century glass is superb
Peter S — Google review
Great experience at the weekend as the Cathedral had a silent disco. Three DJs light's and lazors. Also a bar for drinks. Fabulous evening. With a huge planet Mars suspended from the ceiling.
Ian — Google review
absolutely beautiful and fantastic cathedral not as big as so many in the UK however has a certain charm to it has all the usuall things you would expect no toilets disabled accessible beautiful vicar and a lovely volunteers that help the cathedral run keep up the good work
Matthew B — Google review
The Cathedral is great, although our visit was somewhat spoilt by the annual judges and solicitors etc awards night being set up in the main area. Loud sound check music and disco lights isn't what you expect in a church.
Phil S — Google review
Beautiful cathedral, well worth visiting if you have the time.
Luke B — Google review
This cathedral is a beautiful place to visit I visited Truro Cathedral with my family this summer and was amazed by its stunning Gothic Revival architecture. The intricate stained-glass windows and tall spires created a peaceful and awe-inspiring atmosphere. The interior was beautifully maintained, and the staff were welcoming and informative. We enjoyed the quiet reflection time and the lovely surrounding area. A truly memorable visit and a must-see landmark in Cornwall.

Simply bakes by Fi (I’m not sure on the name as I had to go off my bank statement!) but wow! Thought I’d pick up a bit for lunch and whilst the sausage roll (with sage & fennel etc. was excellent) the Cruffin was on another planet! A complete game changer; a beautiful mix of a croissant and a muffin filled to the hilt with vanilla custard and sprinkled with cinnamon sugar. Just a treat that bought a huge smile to me and deserves a bit of credit! Definitely worth a visit here.

The Cornish Vegan is a cozy cafe located in Truro, Cornwall, offering a variety of globally inspired comfort foods made entirely vegan. The owners, Rob and Graham, who are also vegan, take pride in using locally sourced and sustainable ingredients to create their delicious dishes and cakes. Whether you're craving mac n sheese or gluten-free tofu katsu, this restaurant has something for everyone.
Incredible place run by the most wonderful people. Food is absolutely delicious with something to suit everyone - from fresh and vibrant to warming and indulgent. I'm not vegan but have always loved the food here. Highly recommend - you will be very well fed and looked after, plus the interior/garden is stunning. Perfect for a cosy hot choc or a summers evening under the stars.
Hannah J — Google review
What a wonderful little gem in Truro. A very nice selection for vegans, gluten free, and it is very well priced, should be more expensive than it is! The restaurant itself is very clean and has a lot of space as well. Its LGBTQ+ friendly, and even better that they accept dogs as well! I should also mention the staff that served us (7/12/2024) was super friendly and helpful. Thank you.
Alexa B — Google review
I couldn't rave about this place more! The food, the decor, the atmosphere, and the staff were all incredible. Not to mention very very reasonably priced considering it being in the heart of truro. I've been itching to try a meal here for years and finally made it to which it did not disappoint. We came at lunch time so there was a smaller menu than in the evening, but still with more than pleanty to tempt anyone. Both my partner and I were blown away not only with the taste of the food but also the quality of the ingredients, the presentation, the quantity, even the crockery was lovely. Additionally, we were made to feel so incredibly welcome and looked after, the staff were an excellent testament to the cornish vegan. They were friendly, attentive without being overbearing, knowledgeable, warm, and speedy though at no point did we feel rushed. I wish I could come regularly as I not only wanted to try everything on the menu, but would love to give the cornish vegan the patronage it deserves.

Went for dinner with family and had the carbonara, hash browns, burger and the stir fry. Food was absolutely amazing, good portions for prices, tasty and very filling. It was our first time trying proper vegan food and we were definitely pleasantly surprised. Service was brilliant, super friendly and attentive. Definitely worth a visit.
Sanam J — Google review
We had a wonderful meal here - it's a proper powerhouse for all things plant based so a real treat for vegans but at the same time, as it has such a wide range of dishes on the menu, it's also the perfect place to bring anybody who is just interested in trying some new flavours and ingredients. You'll find something to tempt you on the menu no matter who you are. Options span the range from a decadently delicious double stacked tower of vegan pastrami with smoked cheese, roasted red peppers, baby spinach and microgreens finished with sriracha mayo, to the Lunch Bowl bursting with colourful goodness and featuring sweet chilli tofu, lemon and dill marinaded carrots with homemade houmous alongside a range of epic vegetables and topped with a wasabi mayo dressing. The puds were seriously good too! The venue was relaxed and inviting, the team were super friendly and the food was 1st class. This one comes highly recommended as one of Cornwall's finest spots to indulge in original, delicious flavours and try some top notch plant based culinary magic first hand.

Great vegan restaurant that even the meat eaters enjoyed! One even said it was there favourite meal of our holiday! We are a group of 6 so booked ahead for a table and they were lovely on the phone to help accommodate us. Service was good and the food was great! As a vegan it was brilliant to have the choice of the entire menu! I went with the pasta of the day, which was mac and cheese and it was lovely. Two of the meat eater went for the chicken burger and loved it. Also another member who really enjoyed their had the mushroom fusion. Also a shout out for the gravy too. Everything was lovely, would recommend for all not just vegans.
Jessica S — Google review
Four different meals ordered, and all were absolutely delicious ! My wife is vegetarian so she just adored it, I’m a meat eater but it just doesn’t matter when food tastes as fantastic as this does ! Great service, price was surprisingly low, and even my trusty four- legged friend was brought a water bowl and a doggy biscuit on his own plate ! My daughter and her partner were extremely impressed and will return to the restaurant as they live locally. A big ‘thank you’ to all involved at The Cornish Vegan 👏🏼
Nick L — Google review
As a non vegan - I thoroughly enjoyed the meal. Who knew tofu could be so delicious. All the food was so filling too, we actually struggled to finish! The staff were so welcoming and lovely and it's a really cute place. Definitely recommend for a nice get together. The basket of feminine hygiene products in the bathroom was a really thoughtful little touch.

Trennick Mill is a historic site that originated from the suggestion of prominent Truro society members in 1864 to create a pleasure ground for the well-being of citizens. The park, known as Boscawen Park, took shape in the late 1800s and included the popular Mill House, also referred to as the Junket House due to its association with the famous Cornish dessert.
Our 2nd visit here to meet friends who live nearby. A warm welcome by lovely staff. Excellent coffee & food, reasonably priced. Clean & comfortable. A lovely open fireplace making it cosy on a cold day. Table reservations available & recommended at busy times. Nice produce on sale. Free parking nearby & a pleasant walk on a fine day alongside the Truro River to Sunny Corner.

What a wonderful place to stop for a spot of lunch! This place is absolutely gorgeous - near a lovely duck pond and just across the road from a decent sized play area for little ones The food was delicious, and the staff took our dietary needs into account, and suggested appropriate alterations - they were also attentive and friendly the restaurant itself was clean and there was a decent amount of seating both inside and outside Well worth a visit!
Danny V — Google review
Apparently the owner isn’t bothered about this review. Nobody reads reviews anyway! So here is my review that nobody will read anyway… We were at the park and had to get lunch. It was close by so we went in, we’re given a table and served quickly. Told about a wait on food which we were fine with and carried on. The waitress was distracted by an emergency on a nearby table and my son had ordered the ham, cheese and pineapple pizza off the main menu. The cheese and pineapple pizza (which we hadn’t ordered) came out for my son and we assumed ham was hiding under the cheese. It wasn’t. We asked the waitress why there was no ham on the pizza, she bought out a plate of ham!! On leaving, we mentioned to the staff that our child didn’t like the pizza, it wasn’t what we ordered and could we have our £8.95 refunded because 1) it wasn’t what we ordered and 2) it’s a cheese and pineapple pizza! The waitress who took our order said no refund as we hadn’t mentioned anything before, we actually did and that’s why we were delivered a plate of ham! She went to find out from owner and apparently because they’d sold 11 pizzas and had no complaints they wouldn’t give a refund or even a partial refund. I said it wasn’t a complaint about the pizza, it was about not getting what we ordered. Out comes the owner! She said the order was read back to us (it wasn’t due to ongoing emergency on another table) and it’s our fault. Well, it’s not our fault though is it! It was their mess up and we paid for cheese, pineapple and bread (it looked pretty RANK!) and we told them this and she got uptight that I was calling their food rank. Well, if it looks like a duck and it quacks like a duck… Tourist trap. Not looking after locals who keep them going through the cold wet winters. Absolutely diabolical, non existent customer service! The owner is what makes the business and even though the other staff did what they could and agreed with us not getting what we ordered and getting a refund, the owner said no and got aggressive! As soon as she came out the kitchen she was determined to argue instead of talking rationally about it which is shocking as an owner/manager! Anyway, I won’t get a reply to this as “they don’t respond to negative reviews” and again, “nobody reads reviews anyway!”. What an amazing attitude to get by in business in a cost of living crisis. Puts me right off even spending money out on substandard food!
K C — Google review
Good food friendly staff located adjacent to nature reserve and Riverside walks. Ice creams a large range. The ramblers lunch incorporates an excellent salad n home made cheese scone. The quiche is full of chunks of ham and mushrooms and home made.
Jean — Google review
Stopped in for a cream tea. The scone was so soft and warm and very delicious. Nice, easy walk from the heart of Truro along the river allowing life to slow down just a bit.
Jared T — Google review
First time eating at The Mill. Took my elderly mother who loved the menu and enjoyed the prawn sandwich. I had previously called and asked about vegan options and the waitress was extremely helpful and advised me of several options. I had the open mushroom, spinach and vegan cheese sandwich with salad. It was delicious and the same waitress offered me balsamic as a dressing as I was told the regular dressing contained honey. All the waiting staff were friendly and efficient and my mum and I will definitely be returning again soon for a light lunch.

Despite its age, The Brit has retained much of its charm and character over the years. Visitors rave about their experiences here, particularly highlighting the exceptional customer service provided by the staff.
We just had the most amazing customer service experience with The Brit staff. Placed an Uber eats order, and realised too late that our address was listed 5 miles away. Phoned up and explained what had happened and without any issues, they let us redo the order manually for the same price. Food was top tier, and service was excellent. Can fully recommend. Truro Community Library is a commendable library that offers a diverse collection of audio, e-books and physical books. It also provides efficient transfer services for books from other libraries. The library was founded by Silvanus Trevail, who dedicated his wealth to various philanthropic projects including hospitals, schools and libraries. Passmore Edwards laid the foundation stone in 1896 to mark the initiation of the project. Additionally, the building includes a former technical school at its far end.
Great resource. Well kept building, friendly staff and great community feel. Haven't been to the cafe but it looks very nice too. Thanks for helping me with my printing!
Dan M — Google review
Good library but im rating it one star because there are no toilets!! As a disabled person with a hidden disability this makes the library completely inaccessible. When i visited last week I was also telling my sister about their children's clubs before i realised but she won't be able to take them to the clubs because there is no access to toilets and children need the toilet frequently, her baby is still in nappies and there is no access to baby changing facilities. Absolutely appalling in this day and age. I understand you don't want people coming in off the street to use the toilets but just have a key you give out or something, maybe take their library card so you know the key will be returned. I was told i could buy a coffee to use the toilet but for a person on a low income £4 is extortionate to just be able to use the toilet and only once! When i might need to go multiple times during my visit. And no, before i get a response saying "we can make an exception" people with hidden disabilities shouldn't have to announce their disability just to get access to a toilet. None disabled people can also have weak bladders too (and children) and some people might just want to use the library and not have to worry about packing up running half a mile to a public toilet in the middle of a research project.
Janice C — Google review
Needed to have a document printed, so we visited Truro library the first lady we spoke to was helpful, but we needed help to get started has their set up is really old so my husband went back to see if someone could help us... When she arrived she couldn't have been ruder, didn't listen when I was trying to explain what the problem was, then when I thanked her she just walked off. Beware the short very rotund lady with bad attitude
Jan R — Google review
*Safe garden for toddlers* *A space to relax without spending money* - there is a highly undiscovered community garden accessed through the library. It is entirely closed - there is a latched door leading back into the library and no other exits. There is a sensory garden with herbs and fake grass flooring. We have taken books from the library to read and can relax knowing the toddler can explore and run off some energy in a safe space. No cost involved! There are no toilets in the library but would be able to change a nappy in the garden. There are free public toilets nearby.

They are so nice to talk to plus helped me so 5 star but because of how the cafe lady was I told her "oh sorry to bother you I just want to say the food smell well nice " and I got no thank you the only thing I got was only a dirty look so that put me in bad mood so now it sa 3 stars ........as Manners cost nothing........
Benjamin B — Google review
The broadband / wifi is so slow you could bake a dozen pasties, drink two pots of tea while content loads, what is this 2005? One hotspot it seems, with weak coverage, I am connected to BTWIFI from some place else and that too is frustratingly slow. See it this way if you want to do research go elsewhere... makes me angry that we have access to cheap fibre internet and a gov location has the worst slowest infrastructure. Rest of library is ok, oh no toilets here either, REALLY!
Kaden F — Google review
Was an absolute life saver over lockdown with its selection of audio and e-books. And now that I'm able to go in and borrow physical books I'm just as impressed with what's on offer (even some stranger titles on my list, which I wasn't able to find elsewhere). Transfering books from other libraries is quick and efficient and staff so far have been lovely and friendly. A great library.

Designed by TrevailSilvanus Trevail, devoted much of his wealth to philanthropic projects across the country, funding hospitals, school and libraries. The library and the former technical school at the far end of the building on Pydar Street and Union Street were the results of his generosity. Passmore Edwards laid the foundation stone in 1896.

I attended the 9.22 service for the first time today. I was made to feel very welcome. I enjoyed a modern family friendly service, great worship , a short but very relevant sermon and appreciated meeting new friends. I would definitely recommend.

I go there once a week for choir practice. It is extremely cold, the radiators are on in the common areas, ie stairs but not in the room we use for choir practice. Some of us have had to take hot water bottles with us to try to keep warm.

The second event we've been to at this church. They really know how to look after their visitors and how to put on a great evening. Our visit was sponsored by Compassion UK and featured the excellent Philippa Hanna who has a new album coming out in 2020! She's a great artist, check her out on Spotify!

Royal Nepalese Restaurant, formerly known as the Kings Head and later Pearces Hotel, has a rich history dating back to 1804. The restaurant offers prompt takeout service with courteous staff who are open to customizing orders. Dishes like chilli chicken and chicken Phaal are flavorful and appropriately portioned. Visitors praise the excellent hospitality and recommend trying the lamb sekwa. The restaurant is described as small but friendly, with delicious food that stands out in Truro.
Authentic Nepalese food! We had an amazing dinner here. Loved the authentic food taste. We had ordered variety of food and everything was great. The restaurant was undergoing renovation but we were accommodated very well. There is only 1 chef so expect some waiting time anyway good food needs patience. The service lady was very kind and helpful. Clean place and clean toilets.

Myself and my mother went for a meal last night and the both owners are amazing 👏. They waited on us and made every effort to do things and make things just how we wanted. The chef came downstairs to say hello and check our food was good. The food was amazing. I ordered a chicken curry and my mother had lamb curry with rice for both. The meat was succulent and we both enjoyed the fluffy rice, nann and poppadoms. Id highly recommend visiting this restaurant.😋 Special thanks for both Myself and mother. Stephen & Donna 👍😋

Excellent hospitality and welcoming staff. The lamb sekwa was highly recommended by the staff, and I'm pleased I had it. The food was delicious. The thali was flavourful and had an authentic Nepalese flavour. Will most certainly return the next time I'm in Cornwall.

Movie theater
The Plaza @ Truro is a refurbished Art Deco-era movie theater that offers Hollywood films and snacks in a comfortable setting. The friendly staff ensures a pleasant experience, guiding patrons to their seats and providing excellent customer service. The facilities are well-maintained, with comfortable seating and good sound quality in the screening rooms. Despite minor issues with playing the movie, the management promptly addressed the situation and compensated patrons for any inconvenience.
Quality seats, good screen and sound system, quick service for coffee, drinks, snacks, ground and first floor toilets, not too big. Friendly staff and has somewhere to enjoy an Italian lunch just a few doors away. There is no specific allocated parking but caters for wheelchairs. Only advice, it was chilly in there ( February) so wear warm clothing!
Maggie H — Google review
Cinema is very reasonably priced for tickets and food. The screen itself was very small but was still worth going. Seats are comfy and do recline slightly but with no foot rest. Sound system starts of quiet for the adverts but gets louder. I would say, if your in small screen definitely sit on the front row. As the floor is not sloped.
Tanya M — Google review
Really lovely staff and super accommodating after the huge mess of the Minecraft movie! In particular a huge thanks to Holy who ensured i was a happy customer!!! Over all a good fun time and well worth the small cost <3
Jowan. — Google review
Staff are friendly and food is good and easy to book tickets. So three stars. But the cinema itself is disappointing. Screen 1 is so small. Its like home theatre . All the excitement to watch stunts in Tom Cruise movie was deflated! Also there’s a very annoying big green light on in your eye line and the steps are always lit so the ambiance isn’t there.
S K — Google review
Great art deco era cinema. Don't think it's changed in 35 years since I was born, although I do quite like that it's not changed as it adds to the appeal. Could do with cup holders but it's not really a hardship to put your drink on the floor.
Gordon C — Google review
We had our son's birthday party here with 16 other kids! Nothing was too much trouble and the staff were amazing. The manager (Mark?) was really helpful and everything went as smoothly as it could with a bunch of 7 year olds! Thanks again!
Beth H — Google review
We booked to see a marvels movie and the cinema . The experience was really good , toilets and the actual room was clean 👌 We booked normal seats ,the leather seats looked more comfortable but we were equally comfortable and enjoyed the movie and popcorn 🍿 😀
Nestorine M — Google review
Utterly impossible to watch the film I went to today. Was incredibly hot in the screen room, hallways were covered in sweets and popcorn and could barely even see the ground. There were hundreds of people being loud and obnoxious and nothing was done to quiet any of them down. Speakers were quiet and could barely hear the film over people mindlessly screaming. Literally left midway through the film because I couldn’t bear it anymore. Waste of money, and a waste of time…..

Historical landmark
Perched majestically at the summit of Lemon Street, the Lander Monument stands as a tribute to the renowned explorer brothers, Richard and John Lander, hailing from Truro. This striking pillar is not only a nod to local heritage but also lends its name to various nearby establishments. Despite its impressive stature and historical significance, it often goes unnoticed by passersby due to overgrown foliage that obscures its view.
Iconic monument that is nice to see.
Malcolm P — Google review
The Lander Monument, dedicated to Truronian explorer brothers Richard and John Lander, is a pillar at the top of Lemon Street. It can be seen from quite a distance and provides its namesake to many of the surrounding buildings and businesses, though it's tucked out of the way and almost forgotten about, which is a shame. The face of the figure stop the pillar has eroded away and there is non-native foliage planted in front of it blocking much of its otherwise commanding sightline. The Lander Monument deserves better.

Sara has proven to be an invaluable asset throughout the entire planning application process. Her comprehensive understanding of completing various application forms, submitting the necessary documentation, and managing the intricacies involved has significantly alleviated the stress I would have otherwise experienced in navigating this process on my own. I would highly recommend Sara’s services and will not hesitate to return for further assistance in the future.

I used Green Light Planning to help with a removal of condition application on my annexe. Sara’s technical knowledge & expertise surpassed my expectations. She kept me in the loop throughout the whole process and even worked late nights / over weekends to ensure that my deadlines were met. I gained retrospective consent for the removal of condition application. I am very pleased with the service Sara provided. I would definitely recommend Sara at Green Light Planning to anyone in need of in-depth planning application expertise & the management of the whole process.

Sara gave us excellent advice about a complex planning application for our bungalow. Her local expertise was invaluable. All went through smoothly and suprisingly quickly. We would highly recommend Green Light Planning.
Sophie C — Google review
Hiring Sara for our project was the worst decision we could have made. We constantly had to chase her up for answers and updates (for over 7 months), she always had an excuse for not doing her job. She was very unprofessional and did a very poor job (confirmed by the council and the planning company we had to hire after Sara's negligent work). Late we found out that she used to own another company (Platinum Planning) which she closed at the end of last year, if we would have read the reviews written in houzz.co.uk about her, we would have saved us a lot of lost money, time and frustration.
