Landis Valley Museum is a museum dedicated to the history and culture of Pennsylvania's rural German community. The museum has a collection of artifacts from 1740 to 1940, as well as living exhibits that depict life in this unique culture. Landis Valley also offers educational programs that explore the history and material culture of the Pennsylvania German community.
Peaceful and educational. The museum has so many collections gathered by the Landis brothers - a look into the past. Excellent guided tour (shout out to Ashley) included in admission. Also the museum gift shop is not to be missed - well stocked with local handcrafts. The gift shop is also accessible without having to pay admission, so it's worth a visit even if you don't have time to tour

Loved it! Unique, interactive displays with a mix of self-guided sections that encourage you to move at your pace. The history of the Pennsylvania Dutch and intertwine of religion make for competing visions and stories. It was especially interesting to learn about the two Landis men who collected artifacts and founded the museum. The staff were helpful and Emma was a standout interpreter - very genuine, knowledgeable, and helpful! Entrance fee is reasonable.

Highly recommended! Landis Valley Museum makes it feel like you're stepping into a beautifully preserved chapter of American history. Several buildings, including the Tavern, the Blacksmith Shop, the Schoolhouse, the General Store, the Tin Shop and so many more to explore. Staff was extremely knowledgeable and passionate, making your experience educational and engaging. This was definitely worth the trip!

Landis Valley Village & Farm Museum offers a truly immersive journey into the agricultural and rural community from the 18th to early 20th centuries. It's basically a living history experience. Walking through the village, stepping into historic homes, craft shops - all furnished and equipped as they were back in the day. I am very grateful for our knowledgeable and passionate tour guide, she provided so many interesting facts and history and details on the life back then. It's a wonderful way to connect with history beyond textbooks. And it is a good place to test your extra sensory abilities because the energy of that land is incredible. There are many ancient trees with super powerful energy.
Anika N — Google review
Great museum! Lots of interesting local history artifacts. The demonstrations are well done, the buildings well maintained and the farming history is fascinating. The gift shop has lots of local artists represented and they sell their heirloom seeds.

I rented the firehouse for my daughter's bridal shower, hoping for the best, using recommendations from the Manheim and Lititz Facebook pages - and the venue did not disappoint! Though it was a bit pricey for a smaller event, the firehouse was a beautiful space with loads of locations inside & out for great photo ops. Working with the folks at the Museum was a pleasure! They were quick to respond, and helpful in every possible way - before, during, and after the event. I'd have to say that they really went beyond my expectations! There's a small kitchen and prep area that can be sectioned off, and even a large screen for presentations. The only downside I'd note is the lack of a bathroom inside the building (adjacent buildings have bathrooms). Overall it's a beautiful venue and we had a fantastic experience - I would definitely recommend it.

Historic Sites
Historic Rock Ford, located in Lancaster Country, Pennsylvania, is an 18th-century plantation that offers guided tours from April through October. The property was once home to Adjunct General Edward Hand, a close friend of George Washington during the American Revolution. This historic site is part of the National Register of Historic Places and provides visitors with a glimpse into the past through its well-preserved period features and artwork.
We cannot say enough great things about Historic Rock Ford! This was the first and only venue we toured for our wedding. The second we arrived we knew it was for us. Located in Lancaster County Central Park, it is the perfect location for a beautiful and serene wedding with all the amenities that Lancaster City has to offer. Besides the gorgeous views it has to offer, we also loved the rental period Historic Rock Ford gives you which is from Friday at 10am until Sunday at noon. This really allows you time to soak in your wedding and not feel rushed to set-up/clean up. Their rental coordinator Amanda is absolutely amazing to work with, and is worth every single penny to hire as your event coordinator. No one knows how to run a wedding here better than her. The property offers so many different locations for photos that are all stunning and they also allow you to have the ceremony, reception, and cocktail hour in any location of your choosing. They have a new bridal suite upstairs that worked so well for all of my family since it had a full kitchen and bathroom along with a space for hair and makeup artists to work. There is also a second bridal cottage on the property that comes in handy for the ceremony. Despite Historic Rock Ford being mainly a DIY location, they do include tables, chairs, and a tent in your venue rental fee. This place is really a hidden gem that I hope more people consider. We had the best day of our lives here and I don't think it would have been as half as good anywhere else.

Quaint old mansion with historic gallery located in the adjacent barn. Located within a county park. Great place for a relaxing afternoon or for a hike or biking setting. Probably a great venue for an outdoor wedding or event.
Mike W — Google review
Beautiful house with very carefully preserved and restored interiors, all the tiny details from tableware to carpeting. The tour guide is knowledgeable and thorough. Gallery in the shed is also worth a visit if you enjoy old furniture and clocks

Great location for a DIY wedding. Rockford is a rare find as you can bring in your own vendors, which was important to us. We were able to have Spanish food for the dinner and then friends and family chipped in for dessert. It was a team effort and an all around amazing venue. You also have the rental for the entire weekend so you and your vendors have from Friday until noon until Sunday at noon to do all your setup and tear down which is an absolute must. We were able to create the wedding of our dreams and we are so pleased we chose Historic Rockford! There’s two attractions that are with your ticket: the Art gallery and the Hand mansion (which has scheduled tours). Make sure you arrive at the right time to not miss the mansion tour. The Art gallery was a lot of old furniture. Neither area is suitable for young kids, in my opinion. But, the nearby huge Central Park is awesome so take a nature walk afterwards. Paula gave an incredible tour of the mansion. To the locals— don’t forget you can get the Lancaster library pass to take 4 people for free! Support your local library!

History of Rock Ford & Major General Edward Hand. Rock Ford Owned by Edward Hand, an Adjutant General to George Washington during the American Revolutionary War, this house was listed on the National Register of Historic Places on November 21, 1976. Edward Hand (December 31, 1744 – September 3, 1802) was an Irish-born American army officer and politician who served in the Continental Army during the American Revolutionary War. Rising to the rank of Major General, Hand served as Adjutant General of the Continental Army under George Washington. In Emanuel Leutze's famous painting, "Washington Crossing the Delaware," General Edward Hand is depicted seated and holding his hat within the boat. He is not the central figure, but is recognizable within the group of men surrounding General Washington. General Hand was also one of the Generals present at the surrender of Cornwallis at Yorktown; the key American and French generals present were George Washington, the Marquis de Lafayette, and the Comte de Rochambeau. Cornwallis himself did not attend the surrender ceremony, citing illness, and instead sent his second-in-command, General Charles O'Hara, to surrender on his behalf. Washington, in turn, had his second-in-command, General Benjamin Lincoln, accept the sword of surrender from O'Hara. After the war, Hand retired to farm his estate, Rock Ford, and served in the Pennsylvania General Assembly and Lancaster city government. George and Martha Washington visited the Edward Hand’s Rock Ford Estate on Independence Day 1891.

Lancaster Central Market is a historic landmark housed in an 1800s brick building, offering a wide array of local cheeses, meats, produce, and ethnic cuisines. Visitors can explore the market on Tuesdays, Fridays, and Saturdays to discover Pennsylvania Dutch doughnuts, empanadas, falafel, charcuterie-style meats, artisanal cheeses, and hand-carved sandwiches.
Prepare to be overwhelmed (in the best possible way!) by variety of delicious treats. You'll find everything from artisanal cheeses and meats, to various prepared foods, perfect for a quick bite or a meal at home. The bread and warm pastries is simply irresistible. You must try pretzels, although they don’t appear as ginormous as Auntie Anne’s ones they are filling and oh so delicious! And for honey lovers- this is your place! I got wildflower, honey, basswood honey and even buckwheat honey! So excited to try them!

Great place.. a little hot inside but a big variety of foods, bakery items, vegetables, meats and trinkets and much more. This cupcake place was amazing. Prettiest cupcakes I've seen. They said they are planning on getting a shop soon. I wish them lots of luck.😊

Had a great time visiting Lancaster Central market. Vendors galore, from fresh cut flowers to meats and cheeses produce souvenirs and hot food. Pricing was absolutely amazing and everyone was very friendly. Loved walking through seeing everything. Baked goods and beautiful cupcakes.

Loved this marketplace where I can get baked goods, candies and treats as well as soup mixes and pancake mix. We sat down and had breakfast at the counter and the eggs were perfect. Very nice people work here. They have handmade crafts and gift items as well.

I recently visited this place for the first time and really enjoyed it! The apple cider latte was amazing - not too sweet and something I could drink every day. Definitely recommend checking it out!
Naoko O — Google review
Exciting and very busy place on a Saturday. We arrived to check it out on a lovely bright sunny day. Food vendors inside and out musicians the smell of baked goods and coffee. We looked at all of our choices for lunch and decided on ntwo deli sandwiches from Deli Grassi which was turkey with peppers,, lettuce and tomatoes on freshly baked bread from Philly. $26 for two sandwiches. Had two cokes and got some Boston custard donuts from the Amish Red Maple Bakery. Very crowded and you have to pay to park. So many choices inside and out check it out for yourself. 🌹
Charlene H — Google review
Absolutely loved this indoor market. If you like fresh veggies, locally sourced milk products, fresh meat, etc., you will love Central Market. It gets busy as the morning moves on, so get your items early. The fudge from Uncle Leroy's Candy Kitchen and the beef sticks sold by S. Clyde Weaver are top notch. Vendors we purchased from were friendly and worked efficiently. Loved the fresh vegetable stands as well. You will need to pay for parking and watch your time closely! Allow at least an hour if you are someone who likes to peruse nearly every vendor.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ A true gem in the heart of Lancaster! Lancaster Central Market is not just a market—it’s a living institution. As soon as you walk in, you’re hit with the vibrant energy of local growers, bakers, butchers, and artisans who take real pride in their craft. Every vendor feels like a piece of Lancaster’s living history, and you can taste that authenticity in everything from the fresh produce and smoked meats to the handmade pretzels and Amish baked goods. It’s clean, well-organized, and full of character. The standholders are genuinely friendly and knowledgeable—no pushy sales tactics here, just people who know their products and love what they do. I especially recommend grabbing a coffee and breakfast sandwich and soaking in the atmosphere before browsing the stalls. Whether you’re shopping for groceries, souvenirs, or just want to experience a slice of Lancaster culture, this place delivers. Pro tip: get there early, bring cash, and don’t skip the fresh donuts. Five stars without hesitation—Lancaster Central Market is the real deal.

Ephrata Cloister is a historic site in Ephrata, Pennsylvania, featuring restored buildings that tell the story of an 18th-century religious community. Founded by Conrad Beisel in the early 1730s, this unique campus along Cocalico Creek was home to a fringe religious order known as Householders until the 1930s. The community's pietism and mysticism influenced their disciplined lifestyle and fostered creative expression through art and music.
Visiting cloisters may not be your habit, but go & see this one. It is an astonishing history of religious freedom & independent living. Ephrata the "valley of the snakes" cannot have been an appealing place to found your German 7th-Day Baptist community in the early 1700's. Conrad Beissel was so charismatic that he couldn't shake off his followers. They came from Germany & founded the Ephrata Cloisters & monastic agricultural life. The buildings are well preserved & the parkland grounds are well kept. This is a scenic place where a good guide provides lively & vivid details of everyday life in this religious commune. Even young children are amused & interested by this piece of our history. Although there are are other interesting communes along the East coast from North Carolina to Pennsylvania, this one remains our favorite for unspoiled & well preserved buildings furniture & insight into the dedication & determination of these Christian people.
JB L — Google review
This is an excellent historical preservation & re-creation of a Christian community founded in 1732. After visiting the small museum in the visitor center, we watched a video about the history of the site. Then we went on an hour-long tour by a very knowledgeable guide. There is also a self-guided tour either with or without a cell phone. We are so glad we visited.
Gail H — Google review
I never knew about this part of American history. When this group came to America from the old country in Germany, they came to worship God without dealing with the government sponsored church. Many well preserved buildings still survive to help tell their tales.
Michael K — Google review
15 minute video as you introduction on the tour and it went by so fast! It was an easy way to learn about a location and the people that had lived there. You also get to walk around the 200 acres if you decide to. And hear the stories of the buildings. The gift shop was wonderful. I just wish I had more time there. I recommend you go it’s worth the money.
Deb B — Google review
Very informative. I did not know anything about this movement. We had a guide who took us through the grounds.
Alan B — Google review
Absolutely do the tour - they have great tour guides who make the place come alive and take you inside the buildings. The visitor center has videos that explain the history as well. Fascinating!
Holger M — Google review
My husband and I visited on Saturday, June 10th. It was not busy. The rich history of this area is fascinating. Doug, our tour guide was very knowledgeable. I recommend the guided tour. It is well worth the time. Visit the museum inside the visitor center first to give you an idea of what life was like there. Wear good walking shoes. I don't recommend this for young children.

The Amish Farm and House in Lancaster offers a unique opportunity to explore the traditional Amish way of life. Visitors can take guided tours of the historic house, farm, and schoolhouse, as well as observe animals on the property. The experience provides an up-close look at the daily routines and customs of the Amish community, allowing guests to gain insight into their simple living philosophy and traditional practices.
What a lovely experience this was! A beautiful tour of an Amish settlement in Philadelphia. Takes about 4 hours if you do it leisurely. They have multiple options. A guided bus tour takes you out to the countryside showing the country life. A house tour educates you about the daily life and traditions of the Amish people. And then there's a self guided tour along a 15-acre campus with lots of spots to discover. Lots of photography spots. You get to interact with farm animals as well. The guides are knowledgeable and friendly. They even have a good gift store as well. It is a must visit and highly recommended spot if you are in Philadelphia.
Dr. P — Google review
The bus tour is highly recommended — it’s both informative and a great way to see how Amish people live. Along the way, there are opportunities to interact with Amish locals and purchase handmade goods, which adds to the experience. The farm itself is okay and interesting to walk through, offering a closer look at daily life and traditional tools, but the real highlight is definitely the tour.
Fan Z — Google review
Jack our tour guide was very knowledgeable and gave a great tour! The house is so interesting and the farm was such a great surprise. The animals are well taken care of and there is a lot of history throughout the farm. So many things to look out, so make sure you make enough time to check everything out.
Traci V — Google review
My friends and I did the 90 min bus tour and then the house tour. I personally liked the house tour much better than the bus tour. The bus tour was nice to drive by all the Amish farms and we stopped at two different locations. But I felt it was more like here is where you can buy quilts and baked goods. The house tour was very informative to learn about the way of Amish life.
Sonja C — Google review
We travelled here for the day from Maryland as it looked good, however first impressions were not great. We expected it to be in the country side, a bit more isolated than it was - it's next to a massive target! So that threw us straight away. We only did the farm tour as we had a 3 year old in the group and the house tour was recommended 5+. It was nice, there were some informative signs about what the building were etc the farm animals looked well cared for. However it wasn't worth the 3 hour drive to come and see. Maybe worth it if you are in the area and maybe better if you did the house tour, but it think we'd have been better off going to a local farm to where we were staying in Maryland. Overall I wouldn't recommend traveling out your way to visit, especially just for the farm visit.

Me and my family decided to visit the Lancaster PA for the weekend, we really wanted to check the Amish way of living so we decided to come to this place and spend almost all day here, we took a shuttle to go inside this simple yet full of history places, me and my kids enjoyed the trolley ride we also went to their workshop and found a lot of unique and interesting items that they make manually, their labor is unbelievable, they live a simple life, their food is freshly made every meal, we are learning so much on their way of living. We saw their houses and school, my kids play on their playground and the tractors. I recommend that stop by in here to see what his amazing historical places when visiting Lancaster.
Cherry W — Google review
The bus tour was a waste of time honestly our driver /guild was a total tool. Now for the positive the house tour was amazing the woman was informative and brilliant. The grounds are amazing the animals and horses are great we loved the house tour but save your time and avoid the bus tour.
Nicole A — Google review
This place has great marketing for sure. It is similar to what you would see from a county fair and when you are walking around the farm your view is a commercial shopping center including Target and CiCis pizza..... disappointing The horse area has empty hay bins and hay shelter and there is trash all around the walkways including shredded trash where the grounds mowers runs over candy wrappers etc shredding them into pieces This was the worst experience of my entire vacation- the office was closed at end of my visit so no one to talk in person and no staff in sight during the visit other then the cashier who clearly did not want to be there . Over one week later still upset about this experience and fully believe it is a money grab tourist scam by the owner

The Railroad Museum of Pennsylvania, located in Strasburg, is a treasure trove of historic train engines, cabooses, and railroad cars. With over 100 artifacts on display, the museum offers interactive exhibits and educational talks that delve into the rich history of railroads. Visitors can also enjoy train rides at the nearby Strasburg Railroad, which showcases vintage coaches pulled by steam locomotives through picturesque Amish farmlands.
Wow. What a great place to bring your entire family to able to enjoy and learn everything trains. So much volunteer work that has gone into this museum. They have a wonderful clean selection of exhibits on display to experience. You can really appreciate the amount of work that they have achieved for everyone's enjoyment. Thank you

I highly recommend this museum --it's amazing! There are trains from many eras, and the whole way it's set up puts you back into a world of what feels like an old fashioned train station. It's very interactive and educational, and it also has a children's play area. You're able to go into some of the trains a bit, others you can walk into a platform to peer inside. There's a nice gift shop that can fit almost every price range as well, and the museum is situated in the stunning Amish Country right across the street from the Strasburg Railroad.

Me amd my Mom vitied this museum years ago. Few museums are as wonderful, as detailed, as large, and as fun to visit. Good for all ages. A must if you are in the area. Then cross the road and visit the station! And it wasn't crowded. This place needs to become world famous!

Super giant museum of giant steam engines, carts, miniatures, and many fun sights. You get to go inside many of the passenger carts, conductor and engineer compartments, and marvel at the spectacular size of these classic marvels of engineering and manufacturing. Multi floor with the top housing the large running miniatures which operates like real working trains. Great place to spend a could of hours with the family!

Excellent value for the experience. We took a little over two hours to explore the museum after riding the Strasburg Railroad. The kids loved the interactive train exhibit and Lego center. There were engaging activities throughout (hand brakes vs air brakes, shoveling coal, etc.) that kept them engaged while the adults could read exhibit signage. We all enjoyed the trains that we could either enter or view through plexiglass. We were transported to another time and experienced a feeling of nostalgia for a time in which we never lived. Highly recommend!

This museum is huge and so fun for kids and train lovers alike, don’t miss it! We did a train ride then walked across the street to the museum, which worked well. The level of investment in this museum is impressive- it is clean and very well laid out with loads of interactive options for the kids. My family of 5 - kids ages 10, 7 and 4 - could have been just in the museum for 3+ hours easily. They have SO MANY locomotives! Plus a replica “main street”, lego cities (with legos to play with!), books, a tiny city/town/farm area with a challenge of finding several scenes…then ALL the trains! So many! They are all clean and shiny and a whistle. It’s great!

This is a fantastic museum, one of the best I've ever been to! It was only $10 per adult and we stayed for three hours so the value is great. They have an incredible collection of trains and some really fun model train displays. There is so much to look at, and they have lots of cool interactive features. We went on a weekday and got there when it opened so it wasn't too crowded. We were easily able to buy tickets when we walked in after waiting in a short line. It's a really big museum so it's very open with lots of space to walk around. We were staying at the Red Caboose Motel which is only three minutes away so if you're staying there then this museum is a must-see!

Always a pleasurable experience walking around and seeing the history of American railroading all in one spot. The gift shop had some new items that hooked me and I enjoyed the new MOW expansion. I will be back in the coming years to see if the railroaders hall has opened up more space as id like to purchase a spot for myself.

The Fulton Theatre, housed in the historic Fulton Opera House, is a grand space known for its current and classic musicals, plays, and family-oriented shows. As a non-profit organization, it aims to move the collective soul of the community while honoring its national landmark status as the oldest continuously operating theatre in the country. The theatre produces rotating main stage productions and one-hour family-oriented musicals on Saturday mornings.
My wife and I recently went to the Fulton Theater to see Beautiful, the play about the life and music of Carole King. The theater and the block long complex it is part of, is amazing. The facility itself, is centered around a wonderful restoration of the theater. The architecture is wonderful and the restoration is true to period. The entire facility is quite nice as everything from bars to restrooms have been built to satisfy the comfort of the theater’s patrons. The staff were all friendly and helpful accommodating the needs of the “older” clientele. My wife and I visit Lancaster many times every year. Now I know to check the theater’s schedule in advance. It feels like seats are very available even for last minute bookings, but I’m picky about seat location!

A must try experience for everyone. Shows of all kinds that will cater just about anyone. Besides the big main shows they have more child friendly ones on the weekends as well as dinner date shows in different parts of the theatre. From the handful of shows that I’ve been to I’ve never been disappointed. Have created a lot of memories here! Highly recommended

Comparative to Broadway shows. The costumes were amazing. You felt like you were going to a Broadway show. Friendly staff. They also sell candy, drinks, souvenirs. The person playing the piano before the show was amazing. They give you a history of the show at the entrance right hand side. The balcony was scary if you’re afraid of heights.

Love, love , Love the Fulton Theatre!!! Very pretty building! Nice and helpful staff! Jekyll and Hyde was absolutely Fabulous!!! Well done!!! The stage sets were amazing! Costumes were lovely!!! The singing amazing!!! Especially loved Kanisha and Samantha’s duet! Very gifted actors and singers. David Toole did a great job playing Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde! Highly recommend seeing it! Running until November 2nd.

It's a three hour drive for us to see a show at the Fulton Theatre, but the trip is always worth it. We have been visiting the Fulton for over 15 years - (first time visit was to take our daughter to see Princess and the Pea). We have purchased tickets for seats in all 3 levels of the theatre and have enjoyed every performance regardless of our location. I highly recommend seeing one of the Groff Series plays in the Tell Theatre on the 4th floor of the Fulton. A more intimate setting (up to 100 seats) and the space is completely transformed for each show. We saw "The Irish And How They Got That Way" - a wonderful immersive experience - my husband and I were fortunate to be seated "at the bar" on stage and interacted with some of the cast members! Get on their mailing list! They run a "Christmas in July" sale that offers season passes at discounted rates.

As of this review, we've seen around six shows and I've yet to have a bad experience here. The Fulton Theatre is an absolute treasure with incredible, high-quality plays/musicals. Their latest show, Cats, had the most decorated set I've ever seen at a theatre, and probably the most immersive experience too! I'm always excited to keep coming back. Lately, though, we've noticed that some of their key art is AI generated which feels extremely against the spirit of local arts.
Will M — Google review
Haven't seen a show here in decades, but my mom was the artist director in the 1990s and it was fun to see it all again.
Megan E — Google review
Performances rival Broadway. All shows are performed professionally from well known plays and musicals to the lesser known. Excellent casting, music, scenery, props, directing and choreography. A+ venue (really not a bad seat in the house) and shows. Highly recommend a visit to The Fulton!

President James Buchanan's Wheatland, located in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, is a part of the LancasterHistory organization. The site offers changing exhibits and serves as a research library with an arboretum on its grounds. Visitors can explore the home of President James Buchanan, featuring personal artifacts and period furnishings. Despite Buchanan's controversial legacy, a visit to Wheatland provides insight into life in Southeastern Pennsylvania during the mid-19th century.
We made a weekday trip to see the museum and give to the kids more historical sites for a fun and learning day. The guide were nice and Professional and answered whole the question we had. Is always nice to learn from history and open the mind and dive in the past to see how people lived.
Domenico S — Google review
This was one of the best home tours I’ve been on. Most of the furnishings and personal items belonged to Buchanan or his niece and nephew. The guide was excellent! She was very knowledgeable and obviously knows what she’s talking about. She was even dressed in period clothing which was a great touch. I went without my kids but the tour was so interesting that I think a 10 year old plus would enjoy it.
Erin S — Google review
Really enjoyed our tour The tour guide resembled the former president, was very knowledgeable without getting too deep in the weeds and had a way of engaging guests.
Chris J — Google review
We realy enjoyed the tour. Very educational and everyone was very nice. I learned a lot about our fifteenth president. Glad we decided to go. The atmosphere was also amazing. A must stop.
KJ's R — Google review
My husband and I took the kids here to learn more about the area we live in-we love history! The house and grounds are beautiful, the tour is long and informative and the tour guide was great. I felt bad because my young son, who is usually well behaved, refused to be held and was very disruptive, so I had to leave the tour early with him. Regardless, my other kids had a great experience and loved learning about the president and his home. We did not get tickets ahead of time, so we had to wait an hour for the next tour, but it was easily spent in the museum area and exploring the grounds. I am giving this less than five stars simply because of the video that you watch in order to start the tour. History should be based on facts. I understand that to fill in some blanks a little speculation may occur-but this video was very much based on speculation and theories, and different professor’s interpretations of Buchanan’s personal life and it was completely unnecessary. I would even say that the subject matter of the video was not only in bad taste, but it was not really kid friendly. I did not understand the point of the speculation that went on for 10 minutes about this poor man’s love life, only to conclude that one, there is no evidence to support it, and two, that it really doesn't matter. Both of which are the entire opposite of what presenting historical information should be. There were many little hints throughout the displays and the video that were “leaning” and definitely presenting the material in a biased way. I would expect that a historical venue like this would stick to presenting the facts and then give us the courtesy of forming our own opinions.
Kristen U — Google review
Nice home of the worst president, who was so unpopular he wrote a multi volume book to explain is bad decisions. Worth the visit with great info and excellent tour guide. His cousin who lived with him is very famous harriett lane. A must visit in the area.
Steve R — Google review
It would have been a good tour if the guide talked about the President and not his niece. I would have loved to learn about the President. It has a lot of original time pieces and was a cool house to see. I have been to a lot of president homes.
Tina A — Google review
A very interesting display of a residence of the 15th US President. The tour of the house was impressive, and our guide did a good job explaining many events and people in detail. The film shown at the beginning of the tour did a good job summarizing Buchanan life and the atmosphere of the country at that time. It demonstrates how inept this president was, without casting judgment. The house has many original pieces of furniture and paintings throughout. The ground is quite nice. The building is well-maintained. The staff was friendly and helpful. If Buchanan were rated higher as a president, this place would be a big hit. Regardless, it still is a good place to visit in Lancaster.

Strasburg Rail Road in Lancaster, PA offers a nostalgic experience with steam locomotive rides through Amish Country. Couples can enjoy romantic wine and cheese train rides, while families can opt for an escape room experience. The historic railway, operating since 1832, provides a glimpse into the golden age of rail travel with its well-maintained steam-powered locomotives and restored passenger cars.
It is a wonderful short ride through farmland. They make it entertaining and comfortable. Also, if you're physically disabled they make accommodations and get on and off comfortably and safely. I highly recommend it for an enjoyable short outing. They're are few nice little shops and across the road is the Pennsylvania railroad museum, and that's fantastic! You need a good 4-5 hours for that place.

We had 4 adults in the group. We were slightly as excited as a child would be! It was so neat to be so up close to the train for pictures before and after our ride. A photographer takes a group photo while in the train-which we did purchase after our ride. We only purchased bottled drinks on the train, the prices were not outrageously overpriced as one may expect nowadays. We definitely would come again with other family members.

Gorgeous platform setup! Gift shop was actually very affordable. I usually get sticker shock but was pleasantly surprised here! We had tickets for the first class parlor and it was very comfortable. Our server was wonderful. The scenery was great - farmland, farm animals, a small park, and other small attractions that the train goes through. 45 minutes is perfect duration especially with a child. We’re from honesdale — known for having the first locomotive train so we’ve been on several rides by us. But this one was so much nicer in every single way. Would recommend to anyone visiting Lancaster!

Strasburg Rail Road is a wonderful experience for families, students, and anyone who loves history and trains! The ride through the beautiful Amish countryside feels like stepping back in time — peaceful fields, horses, and old barns all along the way. The staff are very friendly and knowledgeable, making the whole experience both fun and educational. The vintage steam locomotive is kept in amazing condition, and you can feel the power and nostalgia with every whistle. The station area is also lovely, with gift shops, small museums, and food options nearby. Perfect for kids and groups — it’s not just a train ride, it’s a journey through history. Highly recommend visiting, especially in the fall when the scenery is at its best!

We attended the Cheese and Wine event and had a great time! The station looked magical with Christmas lights, wreaths, and trees creating a festive atmosphere. The staff was warm and welcoming, and the parlor car had a cozy, vintage feel. The train ride was shorter than expected, and since we went at night, there wasn’t much scenery to see—daytime rides would be better for that. The cheese and wine were delicious but the portions were on the small side. I do not beleive the ticket price reflected the quantity of the cheese and wine accurately. The gift shop was a pleasant surprise with lots of train-themed and holiday items. Overall, it was a fun and festive experience, perfect for the holiday season!

My friends and I are celebrating 50 yrs of friendship and I mentioned it to the conductor and next thing I know he come with balloons for us, we were so surprised. My friends and I truly enjoyed it.

The North Museum of Nature and Science is a fantastic destination for families and anyone eager to delve into the wonders of nature and science. With its captivating dinosaur gallery, interactive discovery room, and the impressive SciDome Theater that takes visitors on an astronomical journey through the galaxy, there's something for everyone. The museum features permanent exhibits showcasing live animals, a diverse collection of birds, fossils, and minerals that allow guests to engage in hands-on learning experiences.
This place was fantastic for my two children - one of which is autistic and the other a toddler. There is a really fun live bee hive between glass and you can see the working bees moving about, the queen bees, everything- I had never seen that before so that was fun. There is an extremely underrated section of the museum in the lowest level: all kinds of taxidermy, precious/semi-precious stones and elements. This floor also has a set of cabinets with “curiosities” - preserved small insects, reptiles, and some animal bones that have anomalies like a two headed turtle, gigantic beetle, bats, etc. The museum is very hands on, but for my autistic child, he found the quieter part was more what he needed.

A fairly small but densely packed museum full of interactive exhibits, live animals, and unique specimen. Great museum with numerous interactive exhibits for children of all ages. Went on a Wednesday afternoon and virtually had the whole museum to ourselves. They have a live animal section with reptiles and amphibians. The entire basement level is dedicated to birds with a huge taxidermy collection. Also, there's a cabinet of curiosity with numerous interesting collections of all things. Definitely recommend checking out this hidden gem museum, A+.

North is a great museum for families! I appreciate all the interactive parts -- my son always enjoys playing with the microscope and looking through several of the nature activity bins. The Demuth Museum, located in Lancaster, is a dedicated space showcasing the works of Charles Demuth, an influential American modernist painter. Housed in the artist's former home and studio, the museum features a diverse collection of his art, including striking watercolor paintings and examples of Precisionist style. Visitors can also explore lush flower gardens that inspired Demuth's work.
Delightful tribute to an artist I had not encountered. Great movie, art and displays. In the words of Demuth, captured moments.

Excellent little museum. They have restored part of the courtyard and original gardens, planted as they were during Demuth's time. This gives visitors a glimpse into the artist's inspiration and lifestyle. Much of his work is on display, including an armchair in needlepoint which was a lovely surprise. The home includes original pieces of his studio, notions, and homewares of the time. As a parent with a toddler in tow, I appreciated the little children's cubbies throughout the home (pictured). My child also enjoyed the gardens. It is very special (and rare) to be able to visit artistic spaces where the caretakers have also thought of being welcoming to children.

If you are ever in Lancaster City, Pennsylvania, and art is your forte. You should come to the Demuth Museum. 3 generations of the Demuth family lived here, including Charles Demuth. He was a very renowned artist taking local beauty in. His still life around his home and his vacations in Europe will leave you speechless. If you have questions, there will be someone at the desk. She has a lot of knowledge about Charles and his life. Also, there is a small 5-10 minutes movie to watch if you want to learn more.
Nick M — Google review
The museum is the artist’s home converted to display his work. I took the walking tour and it was worth every penny. The super-friendly and approachable guide has done a ton of research and provides a wealth of information and photos. He’s happy to answer any questions along the tour. We got to go inside of the family’s former tobacco shop, where we were greeted with warm sweet smell of tobacco and cabinets and drawers made of dark wood. It was like going back in time. The combination of photos, stories, and landmarks pointed out on the tour helped to develop the artist into more than just a person from history. At the end of the tour you can purchase prints, postcards, totes, tshirts and books, including one written by the tour guide. Would absolutely recommend this. To see the museum only you don’t need to purchase a ticket, but to take the tour you do.

Museum consists of 4 small rooms and a garden in the former home of Deluth. Probably took about 30 minutes total to go through, including a short documentary that plays on loop. This place was great! A perfect time for the whole family! You could spend the whole day and not do everything! They have a large corn maze, peddle carts, carnival games, good food and plenty of slides, climbing equipment, petting zoo and fun events for all the seasons. There is also a bunch of little kids stuff to with a outdoor theatre with kids movies, and a whole little town of stuff that is monitored by staff so kids can’t just run away when you aren’t looking. One of my favorite farms in Lancaster county it’s a tradition that we go every year. My kids are now getting older, but they still enjoy visiting because of the wide range of activities for all ages even adults. I feel like every year they make the experience better and better by adding Additional things for all ages to do. They also have some of the best photo prop areas to take wonderful pictures.

Overall, this place is geared for kids, but there is plenty for all ages to enjoy. I'm in my 60's and thoroughly enjoyed this farm. My wife wanted to go there to pet and feed some animals, and she was very happy with the opportunities she had there. She also enjoyed the paintball shooting booth. There is a lot of walking, but it's not too hilly, and there were plenty of places to sit and rest. Here's a tip... there's not a lot of shade while walking around, so be prepared for a lot of sun!

Was the best corn maze we have been to so far and there were so many activities for all ages. 12 out of 10 for sure. Music, pig races, slides, bikes, paintball, nerf ball and tons more. Prices for food were reasonable not priced like they have you trapped. Hot cider donuts!

This is the best farm experience in Pennsylvania. We went in Sept 20 and it was a fall Saturday which means lot of activities and specials. The farm is so big that 7-8 hours is nothing and you can enjoy more than that. Tons of things for kids and amazing place to be in. We loved the Maze, Pig race, pretend play sections, big slides and many more interesting games. So much fun that we cannot explain. Must visit place in Lancaster, PA.

First time visiting here. Went with my Godson. What a great day we had. One entry fee covers most of the activities including the corn maze, wagon ride various games and rides for kids. spent close to five hours here and didn't see everything. Corn maze has three levels (20min, 45 min, 2 hours or more) We did the longest version which took 2 hours and 4 minutes. They thought of everything including port-a-potties throughout the maze and a concession stand in the center with drinks and snacks. Various playground type amusements for the kids when they were tired or walking. Petting area with various farm animals and a second with about eight highland cows. You can feed the animals for $3 per cup of food...worth the price. Staff is very friendly and professional. Food prices comparable to a theme park. There were multiple places to choose from and a variety of food. We have decided to make this an annual event each year and intend going back in the spring for the baby animal weekends. Well worth the price of admission and kids and adults will have a great time. RECOMMENDATION: Get there 20 minutes before opening. The parking lot fills up FAST. They have plenty of parking but you may do a lot of walking to the main gate they later you arrive.

What a great place! I’ve been going to Cherry Crest my whole life and never once has it disappoint. My favorite things to do are slides, trampoline, and country carts and basically everything else but those are my favorites. They have a lot of places to get food but it’s very expensive for what it is. The shirts and hats are also very expensive. I had a milkshake from the creamery and it was amazing. My twin also enjoyed his vanilla soft serve. The only thing I don’t like here is that it’s cashless. This is a very popular place for summer camps and lots of kids bring cash but you can’t buy anything with cash because it’s cashless. Other than that, if you are ever near here bring your kids (You don’t even need kids just go it’s that fun!)

I almost don’t want to leave a glowing review bc I want to keep this place a secret all for myself. A must do attraction when you come to Lancaster. The staff is friendly, the grounds are impeccably maintained, and it’s a great value for the cost. The food is delicious especially the apple cider donuts and ice cream. There are so many activities to do that even if something is crowded you can find something else that isn’t. My son loved the tiny town and seeing the train pass through the farm. I’ve been 5x in 3 years and will continue coming back for many years to come!!

Great place to take kids to learn! It's very hands-on, and you'll want to plan to make your own fun to get the most out of your time. Price was quite reasonable, and there was lots to do! Probably not great for toddlers, better for ages 5+, I would say. Even if your kids aren't science nerds, they'll probably still have fun playing around with all the activities.

I went on a Thursday during summer and it was pretty busy and loud. It was very fun and they have tons of activities but I’d only recommend it for kids 3-12. They have a water dam area, an earthquake test area, a paper airplane launcher, a big climbing gym, a rice table, and a big dancing stage. The bathrooms are clean, but there is no cafeteria and it is very needed

Cornwall Iron Furnace, located in Cornwall, Pennsylvania, is a well-preserved 19th-century iron furnace and museum that pays homage to the early American iron industry. Originally built in 1742 and renovated in the mid-1800s, it operated until 1883. The furnace produced pig iron products and even cast cannons for the American Revolution.
Wow! This place is a must stop. The tour was so informative, and to see an iron Furnace in its original condition is quite the treat. Loved this place, and our young man tour guide was a well of knowledge.

The tour here was very thorough. The tour guide seemed to have some kind of preoccupation with the “industrialists” who built the place. Seemed like an odd thing to be so passionate about. Anyway, plenty of history, architecture, and economic history here. The gift shop is very nice, lots of books that looked cool and useful items like cast iron products.

We went on Charter Day. What fun it was! The guides were all very pleasant, accommodating and knowledgeable. They had many of the buildings open this time and it was very neat to see the opulence of the 18th and 19th centuries. Would LOVE to go again!

Clean and well lighted!! Unlike some other PA historical sites, Cornwall was easy to get around and VERY interesting. Many of the historical machines were still operational for demonstration. Unlike McConnell Mills, Cornwall is well suited to walk through viewing.

Incredible experience! This complete Forge is well preserved and is a treasure of Pennsylvania and United States history. Volunteer tour guides are excellent. Visiting on Charter day for free was smooth and enjoyable despite the crowds. Thank you for providing this low-cost opportunity for the general public to enjoy this gem!

We came here in March on Charter Day and got a grand tour. I had been here 3 times previously but this was the first time that I was here during their normal (limited) business hours. I recommend coming here when the site is fully open and taking a guided tour. They will take you through the various buildings/floors and explain the entire iron making process. The site is wonderfully preserved, which is very rare for the old iron furnace sites. This was once the largest and most important iron furnace in America. The staff here are outstanding.

Wright's Ferry Mansion, located in Columbia, PA, was the home of Susanna Wright, a Quaker woman who lived there from 1738 to 1750. The mansion now serves as a history museum and offers visitors a glimpse into the past with its well-preserved interior and extensive collection of artifacts from the early 1700s.
Wow! What a gem! An authentic 18th century home in beautiful condition. Our tour guide was the exceptionally talented Asst. Curator, Elizabeth Dillon. We were fortunate to have her as our private tour guide. She had an answer to every question and every "And what is this item?" This is a hidden gem just off of Route 30 in Columbia, PA. See it before it is turned into a residential house as so many colonial homes have become. Benjamin Franklin himself was a welcomed guest in this home. Just picture him sitting in the parlor talking to Suzanna Wright about his latest inventions. Thank you, Elizabeth, for taking so much time with us on the tour. Please note: tours are given on the hour. There is also a bank museum within walking distance of the Wright Mansion. We'll be back to see this. Paul and Jana Schultz Saturday, June 22, 2024

💎 Absolute gem! Most of the building (external and internal doors, door frames, plaster walls, paneling, floors, stairs) are original to the early 1700’s when it was built by Susannah Wright. A very industrious, single, young woman who travelled to the frontier of the Susquehanna in 1726 with her Quaker family. She had the house built in 1738 on 100 of her own acres and established the ferry with her brother (who set up on the other side of the river). She ran a tavern and inn for river travelers, established a silk farm that supplied even Queen Charlotte with silk, had orchards and crops for rope and clothes making. The house was conserved by the man who did Independence Hall so it is really well done. Ben Franklin was a friend a frequent guest. All of the furnishings are authentic period pieces. Tour guides are very knowledgeable and can answer seemingly any question. I have toured dozens and dozens of museum homes/mansions up and down the East coast - this is easily top 5! Very well done! Thank you Elizabeth for a wonderful tour! Note: Tours only on the hour.

Our tour guide Tess was simply fabulous! She knew so much about Suzanne Wright and her history. All the furniture and contents of the house were from the first half of the 1700's. Obviously great care has been given to keep it so true to the time period. Tess spoke about topics from the local history to how to raise silk worms and make silk. She made the experience memorable. If I could give TEN stars I would.

We stopped in while visiting Columbia for the first time. We were very impressed with the museum. We have been to a lot of similar places but what stood out about this house was how much of it was original to the 1700s. In addition out guide was simply fantastic! She was extremely knowledgeable and able to answer nearly every question we asked. We highly recommend visiting!

I used to live in the Historic District of Columbia, just catty-corner from the house in a building built in 1852. I visited often. A rare museum from that era. My Swiss ancestor arrived in Lancaster County in the 1740s. So much fascinating history in the town and in the County. Miss it very much.

Step back in time and immerse yourself in the rich history of America's oldest pretzel bakery at Julius Sturgis Pretzel Bakery in Lititz, Pennsylvania. This 19th-century bakery offers interactive tours where you can witness the traditional pretzel-making process and explore a historic stone home turned snack and souvenir shop.
This place was awesome. The tour was awesome and the staff was great. They were great with the kids and the pretzel tying exercise was great. The history of the place was so cool. The pretzels were really good, both the soft pretzels and the hard pretzels. The prixefor the soft pretzels are amazing at just $2.00 a piece and on top of that you could get a buy one get one free coupon from the local map. Overall this is a must stop and is so much fun.

My husband and I visited the historic Julius Sturgis Pretzel Bakery, America's first pretzel bakery since 1861! We tried their original pretzel, which was soft and warm, but oh-so-salty! Although we skipped the pretzel-making tour, the gift shop was a fun stop. Picked up a cute souvenir magnet for Lititz - a sweet reminder of our visit. A must-visit for pretzel lovers and history buffs! 4/5 stars.
Priya P — Google review
Stopped in on the way home from Lebanon and was able to pick up hot freshly baked pretzels, chocolate covered pretzels with either peanut butter or caramel, and a pretzel magnet for our frig! Pretzels are not like the Philly style we're used too rather softer and doughier with what could be a wheat based flour? None the less they were very good and we're making them last a few days. I didn't have time for the tour but enjoyed to old world charm of the store, staff was super nice!

Took the tour here about a year ago with Kathy as our guide, and she was fantastic: enthusiastic, knowledgeable, and really friendly. The tour was short but informative, with plenty of interesting history packed into a fun experience that works for all ages. It’s definitely something worth doing once, and I’d happily stop back in for their warm, soft pretzels and other treats from the gift shop. The building itself is neat to see, and the pretzels alone make it worth the visit if you're in the area.
Jacob B — Google review
A GREAT tour! We learned a lot about pretzel making. I made a pretzel out of a pile of dough. I'm not sure if I could do it again. The soft pretzels available for sale at the gift shop were warm and tasty. If are in the area this is a must visit at only $6.00 a person.
William M — Google review
We were in Lancaster County from Kentucky and just had to try a pretzel! Very cool atmosphere! My husband and I both got a hot pretzel and picked out some goodies to bring home. The pretzel was very good, however I would have liked to see samples of their mustard given with the pretzels instead of the Land o Lakes branded cheese.
Molly J — Google review
Soft pretzels are one of my favorite things in the world, but I also love any pretzel really ... so when we decided to make a day trip to check out Lititz, PA, this is my top priority on the itinerary. The history all around the building in placards and given on the short and sweet tour were all informative and very interesting. Rolling and twisting your own pretzel was very cool as well. We spent quite a lot between ourselves and grabbing things for family in the store as well, because everything looks so good, and so far the few things we've tried back home have been great. Try the soft pretzel for sure! Being from Philly I've never met a soft pretzel I don't like, but theirs was very unique tasting compared to a philly street pretzel. Phenomenal.
Mike R — Google review
I've done this tour before and it was great last time. This round was not so good. They didn't have enough pretzels after the tour to buy. (They had like 5 total) The tour guide was unintelligible, monotone and was barely enthused. She memorized a script and you could tell. While she may be nice enough, she's not cut out to do these tours. I would not attend this again if same tour "guide."

The Amish Village is a 12-acre heritage museum that provides guided tours through an 1840s Amish homestead, barn, and schoolhouse. Visitors can explore the authentic farmhouse and then wander the grounds to see other buildings such as a one-room schoolhouse, barn with farm animals, smokehouse market, and blacksmith shop. The tour offers an in-depth introduction to the Amish way of life and showcases tools and buggies on display.
A great one of a kind wonderful experience. Great way to learn about a beautiful and unique community. The house tour was very informative. On the bus tour we got to see the Amish people working on the grounds and riding on their buggies. It was such a peaceful and educational experience. The grounds are nice and the staff is very friendly. Recomended for a fun family experience. The animals on site are a great addition for kids to interact with.

Great Amish Experience to learn the Amish lifestyle. Tour of Amish house, one-room schoolhouse, and brief movie. Horse and buggy rides to a real working farm with animals. We ALL loved it from age 9 to 67. Sandy, our house tour guide was awesome! John, our buggy guide was knowledgeable, friendly and had a wonderful personality! It was a very fun and enjoyable time!
Maureen S — Google review
Visiting the Amish Village in Lancaster was such a unique and educational experience. We did the premium package tour, which included the bus ride through Amish farmlands as well as the farmhouse and museum tour. It was informative, and we learned a lot about the Amish way of life, traditions, and community values. Time Needed: The premium tour itself takes a few hours, but if you want to truly experience the area, plan for an entire day or even two. There’s so much more to explore nearby — local markets, smorgasbords, and the Strasburg train ride through Amish farms. Food: Don’t miss a local Amish buffet or smorgasbord; hearty, homemade-style food that adds to the cultural experience. Extras: We didn’t do the buggy ride, but it looked like it would have been a wonderful and Amish experience. Tip: Avoid Sundays. Most shops and markets are closed as the Amish observe church duties, so visiting on another day gives you the full experience. Overall, it’s a must-visit if you’re in Lancaster County. A mix of history, culture, and local flavors that can’t be rushed.
Ruchira K — Google review
Me and my 7 year old did the self guided tour through the village. We did have a tour from a guide through out the home explaining the history of the Amish and details of the home (all 3 floors!). After that, it’s just you and yours — variety of farm animals that you can feed and pet. You can check out the one room school house, a small play-set, and covered bridge. Very cute and informative visit. Did have a kind of large crowd but it was an 80 degree fall Saturday! Wait time about 10 minutes.
Marisa R — Google review
4.5 stars The tour guides (Mark and David B.) were informative during the house tour and backroads tour. We came to understand more of the why questions that we have to fully understand the Amish people and culture. Maybe minus 0.5 star because it felt very short. Maybe they could include interactive activities like butter churning or give booklet/ pamphlets to read on. Having to work in healthcare near the area, I believe that I needed to have a bit of understanding in their way of living. So a big thanks to the tour guides for giving their best to explain as much as they can.

We visited an Amish farm, and we really enjoyed it. It was fascinating to learn about the daily life of people who live so differently from us—their customs, habits, and unique ways of doing things. Of course, we also loved seeing the animals and trying some delicious food from their shops. Overall, it was a very interesting and memorable experience!
Iryna S — Google review
Here's a polished version: Today, I visited the Amish village and was thoroughly impressed. The tour guide did an excellent job explaining everything in detail. I lost track of time – it felt like just a short while, but the hour-and-a-half tour flew by. He covered everything from top to bottom, providing a comprehensive overview.
Ransi K — Google review
The Amish Village was very informative and an enjoyable experience for myself and my family! The prices were pretty reasonable. The Amish take a considerable amount of time hand-making majority of their products. It's beautiful out there. We visited on Sunday. I suggest you all to go on weekdays because Amish people don't work on Sundays , so u will not get to see many of them, or explore their market.

Old Windmill Farm, nestled in Ronks, Pennsylvania, is a captivating destination that provides an authentic glimpse into the Amish dairy farm life. Operated by a local family, this farm offers visitors a chance to immerse themselves in the timeless traditions and simple pleasures of farm living. Guests can engage in hands-on activities such as bottle-feeding calves, milking cows, gathering eggs, and exploring the fields on a hayride.
This is our second year doing the tour. My girls loved it. The tour guide is phenomenal! She is very sweet and knowledgeable. If you love animals you must book this tour. It’s an intimate experience with hands on activities such as holding bunny and chicks, feeding baby cows, holding goats and piglets and the most epic part milking a cow. We also collected eggs and did a hay ride. It’s so worth it.
Dominique G — Google review
5 stars is not enough if you are looking for the best hands on farm experience with little kids or any kids. This one hour tour started with a quick mule hay ride where they let my little kids help steer with the reigns. We fed horses, bottle fed baby cows, held bunnies, chicks, kittens, got to milk a cow, hold baby pigs, watch the baby pigs play on the slide, then pick fresh eggs. The animals just roaming are super friendly, there were lots of little bikes for kids to ride outside. Kathy was our guide, she was great with the kids. My only regret is not bringing more cash to tip them! 5/5 on my Lancaster stops!
Lauren B — Google review
Best attraction in Ronks in my opinion! Great adventure day for families with kids under 10 years old. Hands on experiences like milking a cow, viewing and holding baby chicks and rabbits, bottle feeding calves. Highlight of the tour was experiencing the joy of about 20 kids squealing with joy as the pigs went down the slide! That energy was incredible 😍 so much fun! Farm staff were friendly and helpful, always patient and educating the kids at the same time. Bravo! A well done experience. LOVED IT!

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Our visit to The Old Windmill Farm was absolutely wonderful! It was such an educational and hands-on experience, and we loved how friendly and gentle all of the animals were. A special shoutout to our guide, Jesse, who was incredibly kind, patient, and knowledgeable. He answered every question we had and made sure we really got to experience what farm life is like — from feeding animals to doing real farm chores! It was such a fun and memorable day, and we can’t wait to come back. Highly recommend for families or anyone who wants an authentic farm experience!

It was truly one of then best experiences of my life! As an animal lover, having the large variety of farm animals in one place and being able to feed and pet them all was a dream come true. It was a guided tour that allowed you to hang out with the animals, rather than being ushered along from animal to animal. And if you love photography, there are endless opportunities for gorgeous farm scenes. The hayride was easily accessible and quite comfortable. Very fun! Will definitely be back again and again! Oh! And arrive early so you can visit the mini-horses farm at the beginning of the driveway!

We had an incredible time at Old Windmill Farm doing the Amish Farm Tour. We enjoyed every aspect including the hayride (my daughter was able to sit up front and hold the reins) and the hands on experiences with so many animals. We bottle-fed a calf, saw kittens, chicks, held bunnies and pigs, and even saw some pigs go down a slide! Annie, our guide, was patient and kind and ensured that all kids and adults enjoyed their time on the tour. We will definitely go back next year.

We stumbled upon Old Windmill Farm online and bought tickets not knowing what to expect. We are so glad we did!! It was an AMAZING time! Jesse's farm is beautiful and he does a great job at showing you all the aspects of farm living while including you in the activities as well! From getting to drive the wagon, milking a cow, feeding a calf, and so much more! It was the highlight of our trip! Would recommend for all ages, my 60 yr old mother LOVED it as well as all the young kids/toddlers in our group. You can tell that Jesse truly cares about his farm/ animals and sharing/teaching others about the beauty and value of the farm. We hope to come back again one day!!

LancasterHistory is a local-history venue that offers a variety of attractions, including exhibits, galleries, an arboretum, and tours of President Buchanan's home. The history of Lancaster dates back to the 1st century when a Roman fort was built in the area. After the Romans left Britain, little was known about Lancaster until the 11th century when it fell under Norman rule.
What a nice day at the Lancaster Museum. Excellent perspective on the last 300 years of history. I learned about the past presidents and some of the people who I’ve heard of, but did not know how they contributed. I’m looking forward to coming back while the library is open.

A nice facility. As far as being a museum, there is not much in the way as far as exhibits go. The history aspect we suspect is for researchers eyes only. The real draw is the fact that this is where you must buy the tickets to see the adjacent presidential home.

The Lancaster History Museum and President James Buchanan's Wheatland are the same venue. We didn't peruse the museum collection, but watched the movie and toured the mansion. The excellent movie explains Buchanan's political life, going deep into Buchanan's motives and actions that failed to keep the nation together. The house and its furnishings are almost entirely original to Buchanan's time there and the tour guide gives an excellent summary of Buchanan's personal life.
Thomas M — Google review
Very informative about both local and national history. I particularly loved the visible storage/processing area in the basement. It is worth the time for a quick visit while in Lancaster, and LH actually also maintains the Buchanan house (which is also great.) [March 2025]

Brewery
Bube's Brewery, located in Mount Joy, Pennsylvania, is a unique establishment housed in a 19th-century building. The brewery offers more than just beer - it features an art gallery, American dining options, and even karaoke. One of its most distinctive features is the Catacombs Restaurant situated deep below the brewery where guests can enjoy a candlelit dinner surrounded by stone walls.
We were absolutely blown away by our experience! We were recommended to come here and the description didn't give it justice! The atmosphere is beyond amazing. Between the bar, the beirgarten and the catacombs you can feel the history. We had no idea how much history was here and we loved the tour. The service was beyond exceptional between the tour guide giving us fun facts at the table to our server helping us try new food. Every drink and bite of food we had was better than the last! The flavor of the cocktails was both strong and unique. The steak melts in your mouth and the blue cheese topping makes it so much better. We fell in love with this place and despite having to drive an hour we definitely will be back soon! This was the best restaurant experience we've ever had!
Michaela G — Google review
First time experience was not impressed. I booked to eat at the catacombs with toast well here they book a day a head thinking it was same day. (100% my fault, but I can see this mistake being easily made by many) we drove about and hour with some friends to find out it was the next day. Huge Bummer , but as said my fault, they said they would still see if they could get us a tour to which they never got back to us about then we were sat outside. Outside was really pretty, but tables and chairs were very sticky. So we sat at the bar. Menu options looked really great so we thought maybe it wouldn’t be such a bad turn out after all since I felt bad to begin with, appetizers were pretty good, however mains were disappointing. I ordered a balsamic, Brie, and fig flat bread. Which sounded amazing but looked like it was thrown together. The raw onions weren’t even separated more managed to make it on the plate rather than the pizza itself. Cheese was only on some slices and the bread was just bread it wasn’t in put in the oven? My husband got the Ultimate Grilled Cheese which is supposed to have Imperial crab, which is a lump creamy consistency style crab, nope it was a heavily breaded crab cake that was dry. Maybe it’s not like this all the time, but definitely not worth driving an hour for us. Also was told to call at 10am the next day to get our downpayment back, then was told I’d get a call two days later from someone. I haven’t heard anything back yet. I will say the key lime crush was pretty good though! And I like my crushes.

Visited The Catacombs for my daughter's early 23rd Birthday dinner. She's a Halloween baby and I thought The Catacombs would be quite fitting. Our visit did not disappoint. What a wonderful experience. After our 138 mile, 2½ hour, drive each way (that's commitment to keeping things fresh), our host and tour guide Richard was courteous, entertaining, and quite the Bube historian. Thank you, Richard, for the Birthday Song. Jack was our very courteous server. We had a wonderful time. The food was good, and there was was something due everyone. The dessert menu was a little lacking with only 2 options, but everything pulled together nicely. Richard allowed us to explore the upstairs and the museum quality memorabilia is interesting and educational. Thank you. It's not "just around the corner" for us, but if we're back in the area we'll stop back in for sure.

Amazing experience, unique, highly recommend! Spooky hotel with themed rooms! Communal shower/restroom, but also private half bathroom for guests, we had 0 issues with this, even would say it added to the experience of staying here. There is a nice common sitting room, microwave and coffee maker, that has an outside door leading to a seated balcony. The Catacombs dinner was exceptional, food, cocktails and intimate setting. After dinner brewery upstairs, we took home a growler, shirt and hat <3 . There is soo much to talk about, just go and experience it!! Special thanks to Kelly and our co-hotel inhabitant for the chat. Def coming back.

Really cool brewery! The history is very interesting dating back to the 1860's! The catacombs where they brewed the beer originally are awesome to see! If you would like to experience dinner in the catacombs its a 4-6 week lead time in reservations but worth doing. If you are dropping in you can still get a tour and enjoy food and spirits on the main floor. Friendly staff! Great food and really cool stories about the place!
Artie M — Google review
This was a fun and unique experience. Be sure to make your reservations well ahead of time, especially if dining on the weekend. Prior to going down going down to the catacomb, you get a brief tour around the facility with some fun history facts on the building. The overall experience was delightful and fun . Well worth the dining price because it’s such a unique experience. Perfect for a date or fun family dinner. My pork Tomahawk was delicious, the mashed potatoes were room temperature. But not worth complaining about. I still ate them. The half a chicken was probably the juiciest chicken I’ve ever tried. If you’re considering coming here, I can’t recommend it enough.
Exit Z — Google review
This place books up very fast for reservations on Fridays and the weekends. Every Saturday they do a show, must purchase ticket ahead of time, way in advance if you want an opportunity to see it. We unfortunately weren't able to book a show, but we're lucky enough to get an early dinner reservations on a Friday (all that they had left) (good sign- means this place stays busy and the people love it) the atmosphere is the best, can be very romantic for couples and for family and friends a nice quiet dinner in a cool underground location. They give you a tour before you are seated for dinner, which we really enjoyed. Food was good and same as drinks.

The Biblical Tabernacle Experience in Lancaster, PA, offers a captivating journey into the ancient world of Hebrew worship. This meticulously crafted reproduction of Moses' original tabernacle brings to life key elements such as the altar and the Ark of the Covenant, all designed according to descriptions found in Exodus. Visitors can marvel at wax figures like the high priest at the altar of incense and explore significant artifacts including the Golden Candlestick and Table of Shewbread.
It is a place where the characteristics of the tabernacle of God are shown. You can see the exterior division, the area where the offerings were placed, where the bread and incense were placed, also where the ark of the covenant was. You see a model of a priest with his vestments. In general, you see the construction materials according to the conditions the Lord commanded to follow. They give an explanation and you can listen to an audio. There is also a store where you can buy souvenirs and utensils, as well as scale models of the tabernacle and various bibles. They are guided tours for groups, there are several shifts. The Saturday we went, at 10:00 am there was a tour in English and at 11:00 one in Spanish. There is enough parking space and you have several stores nearby. I recommend it.

We visited the Biblical tabernacle to give my child a " bring the Bible to life" experience. The staff explained the mural on the wall and answered any questions in a knowledgeable manner. A must see for those wanting a visual of the Bible's description of the tabernacle. Our experience lasted about 30 -40 min which was great with having two small children. Check out the made in Bethlehem cross necklaces ( sold in the wonderful gift shop), only $5.99 and your child will enjoy wearing it during the visit. We didn't buy tickets in advance and there was no wait. The tour starts at the top of every hour.

Great biblical experience! The Bible story comes to life. Amazing people. You will also learn about the Mennonites and the Amish. You won't regret it! They also have an amazing gift shop! Blessings to all 💕

Although this display didn't have any fancy bells and whistles, it explained how the Tabernacle was built and used during the times before Christ. There was also a short video in the lower level explaining the Amish and Mennonite cultures. Very informative.

It's an educational experience. There is a short film and then a presentation. It runs by the hour so plan accordingly. We didn't make reservations ahead of time and they were able to accommodate us but maybe because it was a week day and not to many crowds. Place has enough parking places and building is well maintained. Staff was very friendly. Nice things in the gift store.

Our party of 4 visited the Tabernacle experience this weekend. It was the 2nd time for 2 of us and just as interesting and informative. The other 2 members of our party also enjoyed it including keeping a teenager’s attention.

Very educational and it was really neat to be able to hear about their clothing and understand all of the specific details that were mentioned! It was great to have a visual about something that we've only read about in our Bible! Thank you for the great tour and you have a very nice to gift shop also! Thank you for letting us schedule our appointment and giving us all the time that we needed to complete our group visit.

The 1719 Museum, also known as the Hans Herr House, is a fascinating destination in Lancaster, PA that offers a glimpse into early American history. The museum showcases the oldest Mennonite meeting house in the Western Hemisphere, built by Bishop Hans Herr in 1719. Visitors can explore replicas of an Indigenous longhouse, farmhouses, barns, a blacksmith shop, and an outdoor oven.
They had a recreation of the local Indians lived until moving on complete with furs and bowls and fire in the middle! Very interesting. They had the oldest steps still standing, 300 years old and historians come just to examine these old stairs! Herr house was built in 1719, oldest home in western hemisphere. How they came over and settled in area. This was very interesting and would definitely stop and support this wonderful piece of American history.

Alice was a great guide and super knowledgeable! We enjoyed learning about the indigenous history of the area as well as the Herr family. The actual house itself was amazing and so well preserved, it felt like we were walking back in time when we entered both the Long House and the 1719 House. It was a great experience!

We were thrilled to have a tour all to ourselves with Jim. The tour was excellent: a truly thoughtful explanation of an often turbulent and complicated period in American colonial history. The tour covers hundreds of years, yet Jim was able to take us from the 50k foot overview,to modern day restoration of the nearly intact Herr home. We would highly recommend this visit for anyone interested in the history of the area, colonialism, eastern American Indians and European immigration.

We wanted to drop by with my 96 year old sister-in-law last weekend; she hadn't been there for a long time and she was anxious to go back and show it to us. Unfortunately, the house didn't appear to be walker or wheelchair accessible, and there were no ramps to access the building. So, we regrettably had to leave.

Oldest original house in Lancaster county. Very interesting tour and very knowledgeable tour guide. We also visited the long house and I was pleasantly surprised that there were so many items for kids to touch and learn about close up. The American Military Edged Weaponry Museum is a must-see for anyone interested in American military history. Spanning more than three decades, the museum has an incredible collection of edged weapons used by servicemen throughout the years. Owned and operated by veteran WWII Air Force veteran Larry Thomas, the museum is a treasure trove of information about America's armed forces.
This museum is very unique and definitely worth the $5 to get in. Although it is a small place, it is packed full of amazing historical items. The gentleman that owns the shop can tell you the history of most all of the things in the museum, and from what I learned most all of it is his personal collection, or gifts from veterans. He talked to us for quite a while and told us many amazing stories about different artifacts he had. As a history nerd and teacher I high recommend a visit when in the area.
Samantha S — Google review
I've gone to militaria & war museum's up and down the east coast but never visited the edged weapon museum until summer of 2019. I still think about it often, what a incredible little museum. the older couple working the front (which I assume were the owners) were kind and knowledgeable, willing to answer all questions. the broad scope of the collection was remarkable covering almost all United states engagements up until modern era, my personal favorite section was the early OSS stuff and the WWII divers knife display. a lot of rare pieces under display and the museum is very easy to follow. I hope to pay this place another visit as soon as possible.

Entry is only $5 and I was shocked to know that this was once a private collection in the owner's home. Both Mr and Mrs Thomas were knowledgeable and answered all questions. I also discovered that he was originally from NC much like myself. Whether your into knives, swords, or just war artifacts this is a must see! Definitely worth the price, time, and trip. We could've spent hours just talking with the owners!

Phenomenal experience! Huge collection of, not only swords and knives but, guns and other treasures. The owner and curator is a WE II Veteran with a wealth of knowledge. Visiting with him was worth more than the $5 entrance fee. Great Experience!!!

This little museum packs more amazing exhibits per square foot of floor space than any other military museum I have ever visited. I had the pleasure of spending time with the owner Mr. Larry Thomas. A WWII veteran of the Army Air Forces with time on the B-17 bomber, it was a pleasure getting to know this man who did so much to preserve and share this important part of American martial arms history. If you are a student of American military history from the Civil War to the Middle East, then you need to see this place, it is a real gem.

The Robert Fulton Birthplace in Lancaster, PA is a well-maintained historic site where visitors can explore the restored and furnished house of the famous steamboat inventor. The house features informative exhibits chronicling Fulton's life and achievements, while the adjacent garden showcases beautiful historic paintings. Although the house is open for tours from Memorial Day through Labor Day, visitors can still enjoy the picturesque scenery and architecture of the building year-round.
We really enjoyed our visit. The site is very well-maintained and has some beautiful scenery in the area. There are lots of informative exhibits in the house and if you didn’t know much before your visit, it’ll tell you everything you want to know.

Date of my first visit was Sunday May 25, 2025. I was driving by and I saw this attractive old home and I just had to check it out. The museum was closed, opens on Memorial day on weekends. There is a good size parking lot in the back plus there are two picnic tables. I already had my lunch packed so I ate it there. Check out the well-maintained garden behind the home. There is a sign indicating a trail entrance. I did not go exploring.

The Southern Market in Lancaster has a rich history, originally opening as a farmers market in 1888. After being closed for some time, it is currently undergoing restoration and is set to reopen soon. The market will feature a food hall, bar, coffee shop, and coworking space. Located in downtown Lancaster, this historic public market has been a community staple for over 120 years and now houses 10 local vendors offering diverse global flavors and vegetarian options.
Lots of great food options at this food hall, but by far the best is Pizza 211, but watch out because they run out at night sometimes! And great trivia nights Wednesday and Thursday - get there early, it's often packed! Bartenders in the middle are always so efficient and friendly. Great place!

Plenty of delicious food from around the world. I ended up enjoying a delicious meal from Latin kitchen I had maple Brisket. It was delicious!! We also the food from the German restaurant as well as a few others definitely recommend!!

Amazing food vendor market in the center of the City of Lancaster. Over a dozen different ‘mini restaurants’ including a number of ethnic food stands. Also has a wonderful bar in the center of the market, with the number of televisions showing several sporting events on the Saturday afternoon we attended. I would highly recommend you check this place out, it’s a lovely place to get a coffee or a drink and relax with friends.

First time at this market and I’ll for sure be back. There are many different food options that are not your typical American bites. I’m bummed I didn’t try small bites from each place but I’ll update as I go to new ones. We went to the Vietnamese shop because it was cold and all I really wanted was soup. We got the vegetable pho which was flavorful, not a lot of noodle, but had decent amount of toppings, although I wish I had a lime with it. We got the tofu banh mi which had a good amount of flavor. It could have used more of the pickled veg- they seemed a little stingy on that and the tofu was fried a little too long but the actual sauce they tossed the tofu in was delish. It had a little bit of heat to it so if you don’t like spicy maybe stay away. The shrimp summer rolls were fresh and the sauce they give with it was interesting but in a good way. It had notes of the traditional peanut sauce but seemed a little more soy sauce based and thinner than the traditional peanut sauce that comes with it. The vegetable spring rolls were strange. They were grainy and had a few pieces of carrots in it. I wouldn’t get it again. It was served with a sweet chili sauce. They are a bit on the pricier side but I’d at least reccomend trying the pho and summer rolls if I had to choose between everything ordered.

Pretty cool museum if you’re interested in clocks and watches, how important time is, and how the clock was made. Loved how they had information on how clocks are important through history and especially with train and freight movement. Not really recommending for children, they do have a stuffed animal hunt for kids, but, more for those interested in details and craftsmanship. As well as history lovers, has a good bit of history on clocks and their designs and functions.

Guests can enjoy microbrew samplers of eleven different Lancaster Brewing Company beers on tap, along with adventurous American cuisine such as grilled lamb burgers, amber ale battered fish and chips, and blackened North Atlantic Salmon.
I used to work across the street and would get the lamb burger and fries every Friday. It’s been years so I don’t get to eat there often. Ordered the Pittsburgh Steak Salad through Door Dash the other day. I wish there was more shredded cheese and dressing included, but the quality did not disappoint and I’ll continue to order from them. Great food and the Lancaster restaurant itself is super cute, good atmosphere, excellent staff. When I lived in Harrisburg I’d eat and order at the one there too. Harrisburg location not as good as the Lancaster location, never been to the one out Route 30.

Great selection of food and locally brewed beer. We tried a mixed flight, very reasonable price and serving size. Also had a few samples. Did not have a single beer that was not delicious. They definitely know what they are doing. If you like light and flavorful, try the Lancaster Lager. Like something a bit sweet and dark with a long finish? Try the Shoofly Porter. She had the Reuben, delicious take on a time honored classic. He had the fish and chips. Everything cooked just right. They have an outdoor patio, but it was pouring rain when we went there. So we ate inside. 🙂 Highly recommend Lancaster Brewing Company, and will definitely return!

My mushroom Swiss burger was professionally prepared with a hint of charbroil which gave it an extra level of flavor. I was surprised I ate more than two fries as I had promised them to my husband. Our server Lindsey was exceptional and made our visit very enjoyable—she was great, bringing us multiple samples and giving many recommendations. Cocktails were amazing and we drank several varieties of beer (after all the samples😂) all were very good. We only had a few apps, pretzel, buffalo cauliflower and hummus platter but all were very good with ample portions. Also nice carry out beer selection and priced well. Loved the layout of the Outlet, parking lot in the middle with shops all around it. Very convenient. They had so many shops and was having huge sales on everything. Picked up a pair of running shoes at Nike at a great price! Most of the shops were having Clearances with 20 - 30% extra off on lowest price on top of that! Now that a bargain!

Great sales in some stores. Plenty of free parking. Regular outlet. Nothing special. Some of those have regular prices, some have good sales. Plenty of variety.

These outlets have prices so good it took my old lady four hours to spend my whole paycheck there rather than only two hours it takes her to spend my whole paycheck when we go to King of Prussia Mall. Some of the stores are outlets, and some of the stores are just regular stores not offering outlet pricing. For example Lids is not a “Lids Outlet” it’s just a regular Lids store. So be aware of that but still a great place to shop. Worth driving 3 or 4 hours to.

The National Toy Train Museum, located in Paradise Township near Strasburg, is a must-visit for railroad enthusiasts. Visitors can interact with five fully-operational train layouts featuring different track gauges and styles. The museum also hosts seasonal trains and special events like 'Day Out with Thomas the Tank Engine' and Easter Bunny train rides.
I was staying at the Red Caboose Motel next door so I had to check out this museum. Wasn't expecting much and it turned out to be amazing. It's really beautiful the way it's set up with various trains running and lots of buttons to push to activate various things. The lighting continuously changes, too — giving eat set up a day view and a night view. If you are into trains, and even if you are not ... this place is well worth the stop.

What a perfect collection of all-scale trains. Great interactive displays. Good place to bring kids. Friendly staff and very informative. They have a self-guided talking tour that gives you a lot of history. The displays were well-lit, but what I loved even more was that a few of the displays cycled through day and night, and all the buildings lit up, very cool. Definitely would recommend it to any age train enthusiast.

My wife and I went today. I was surprised with how cool the place was. Also was nice that they show other toys that were made by the companies that primarily made toy trains. The displays are really nice and switch from daylight to night time. Some of the buttons didn't seem to work, but that was a very small amount. They also have an educational video playing in the back. Even without kids we had a really good time.

We took the 8pm tour on Oct 25th, which was the perfect time and setting for this historic ghost tour of Lititz. Our tour guide, Frank, was extremely knowledgeable on the background of the Moravian people and the history of their settlement in Lititz. Through the stories of the bygone residents of the town, we learned the role of the Moravian people and their buildings in the support of the Continental Army during the Rev War. Our guide did an excellent job explaining the historic relevance of the points on the tour and gave a captivating account of reported paranormal activity in these buildings.

We had been in the area 3 days, and this was our last thing to see. We were not disappointed in any way! This home is a MUST SEE for anyone who enjoys our country's history. I promise, you will not be sorry you went!

Lancaster Marionette Theatre is a unique and captivating attraction that showcases puppet shows with exciting storylines. Operated by a passionate puppeteer, the theater offers memorable performances suitable for all ages. While some may find the concept of puppets and dolls unsettling, visitors often leave with delightful vacation stories after experiencing the quirky charm of this one-of-a-kind theater.
My wife and I have seen every show, many more than once, as Robert always adds a unique flair to each performance. We treasure our visits to his beautifully designed Victorian era theatre. Robert is a gift to the Lancaster performing arts scene, and we look forward to his eventual appearance on the boards of the Fulton where we can enjoy the full range of his talent.

The kids had such a wonderful time. The owner is very nice and we loved the backstage tour beforehand! Please make sure to arrive at least 25 minutes early for the tour - the few people who joined the tour late were very disruptive to the rest of us. We saw the wizard of Oz and it was amazing. Our 7 and 9 year old boys and our 5 month old baby were all captivated.
Matt H — Google review
Incredibly passionate man gives a one-man performance that will impress all ages. Loved the backstage tour, like a small glimpse into the history of puppetry and Robert's life with humorous commentary. Talent abound ~ could not recommend more

I was with my parents on Saturday June 16, 2018 for the 11 A.M. show of Aladdin and his Magic Lamp. The show was awesome! Robert, who owns the theatre and performs with the marionettes, gave us a private tour around the theater, which was surreal to see behind the scenes of the theater and the stage. Go to see his shows! Thank you Robert for the tour, the show and taking photos with us!
Julia O — Google review
After years of meaning to stop in, we finally took our niece and nephew to see a show. What a delight! Why did we wait so long? The show was child-appropriate but sprinkled with humor to keep adults engaged. The marionette master - Robert - was charming, funny and available to the audience for questions and anecdotes. The building itself was lovely, too. Highly recommend.
Nyssa K — Google review
Such a wonderful family friendly show, cannot recommend more highly. Seeing Robert's passion for his work is very charming. If you find yourself in Lancaster make sure to experience the wonderful performances.

One of Lancaster’s hidden gems. I’ve seen a couple shows here and it’s always a fun time. Robert puts a lot of time, effort, and love into creating a memorable show. I encourage anyone and everyone to check this place out and show some love.

Very knowledgeable tour guides. It's free and interesting.

Very knowledgeable guides and the tour is free. We spent about an hour learning about the family and history of the mill. Fun to see the mill grind corn and the guides were very good at engaging and answering questions!
Alexander W — Google review
Very cool and interesting history! The guides were so thorough and nice and answered all our questions, you really do have to come back to learn even more. You don’t think it’d be super interesting (at least I didn’t) but the stories and history are worth learning. I won’t spoil anything-just come see for yourself!
Emma W — Google review
This old mill was pretty cool. It's still in working order and the guide even turned the machines on for our group to see! Parking is a little tight. I parked on the other side of the road by the park. There is also is the house they grew up and lived in to tour. Just a neat way to travel back in time and see how people lived. Definitely recommend. There also isn't a entry fee not sure if they ask for donations. I wasn't asked when I was there. Kid friendly.

Both the church and the museum have reopened for tours, by appointment and by chance. I called for an appointment and another four people ended up joining the tour on that day. The tour guide is very knowledgeable about both the town and the church and I felt so well taken care of when he asked how much time I had for the tour. Highlights of the tour include the 110-point star and the corpse house. Well worth the time.

This single-span covered bridge, originally built in the mid-1800s and spanning the Conestoga River, stands at an impressive 180 feet long. A gorgous place to drive over, its posted on both sides, so no real parking, five minutes max. Lovely area

This is one of my favorite covered bridges in Lancaster County. It's unique because it's natural and not red like most of them. Pretty farm scenes and Amish sightings on the way.

A beautiful old historic covered bridge over the Conastoga river. The drive here is just as beautiful as the bridge. There are many Amish food stamps along the way as well as gorgeous countryside. Make sure to be respectful of people’s private property on either side of it when visiting.

Drove to 6 covered bridges .... there are driving instructions to visit various locations. Very helpful. Limited parking areas...and lots of adjacent private property......lots of historical information..... Bridges covered to protect the deck...painted red to appear barn like for the horses traversing them.

These beers are widely enjoyed in Lancaster's bars and restaurants, reflecting the local favorite status. The brewery offers a dog-friendly outdoor setup at the Taproom and Grille, where patrons can create their own drinks from paper menus.
A great place to have a garden wedding when it comes to have a fantasy of epic novel like Lord of the Rings kind of wedding concept. It a huge place to explore if you want to have some pictorials to look back with a smile in your face😀. They also have reception area. It’s a one stop location so no need to travel for the venue.

The Taproom and Grille had a great outdoor set up that is dog friendly. They are offering paper menus that allow you to build your own drink. The server was kind and respectful, and the food was very good. The only thing that made us uncomfortable was that one waitress was not following proper mask wearing rules. The mask was hanging off her ear as she interacted with 3 customer tables, the register, food, and take-out containers. We did not order more because of this.
Janine C — Google review
Stopped in at the brewery yesterday for tastings and they were closed. Even though Google's hours said that they were open. Found out that the brewery has no scheduled hours (very odd). Went into the Mt. Hope tasting room, staff had no clue about brewery hours or available to offer samples. Disappointed, but would like to make the drive again... but will call first.

Awesome place to visit for some local history! Lots if cool stuff to check out and tons of people who have mastered their trade and are willing to talk about the way it used to be! Very interesting...I spoke with Bob the wood working man who was cutting dovetail joints by hand and the wood carving man and he explained all his tools and techniques. Also spoke with a couple about how they process flax into linen...very cool to see the way things were done in the 1800's and in some cases hasn't changed too much!

The village's historic buildings house quaint shops where guests can purchase homemade fudge, hand-crafted signs, high-quality quilts, and more.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Kitchen Kettle Village is an absolute treasure in Lancaster County! If you love charming small towns, unique shopping, and amazing local goodies, this place has to be on your list. We spent several hours wandering through Kitchen Kettle Village, and honestly, we could have stayed even longer — there’s just so much to see and do, all conveniently located in one spot. First, let’s talk about the crafts and handmade goods. From beautiful quilts and intricate wood carvings to pottery and handwoven baskets, the craftsmanship here is top-notch. You can actually watch some artisans at work, which makes the whole experience even more special. The Jam & Relish Kitchen is a must-visit. We sampled so many jams, relishes, salsas, and butters that we lost count. Everything tastes fresh and homemade, and it’s impossible to leave without at least a few jars to take home. Deerskin Leather Shop has gorgeous handbags, belts, and accessories, all at reasonable prices for the quality. If you’re looking for unique gifts or a little treat for yourself, this is the spot. Pepper Lane Fudge & Sweets was another highlight. So many flavors of fudge, plus other candies and chocolates — perfect for satisfying your sweet tooth. The Olive Basin was a surprise gem, with rows of flavored olive oils and balsamic vinegars you can taste before buying. The staff here were super knowledgeable and helped us find some fantastic pairings. Village Handmade and Village Soap Company both caught my eye with beautiful soaps, candles, and home décor — all handmade and surprisingly affordable. Perfect places to pick up a souvenir or gifts that feel special and unique. Beyond shopping, there’s live music, beautiful flowers and landscaping, and a real sense of community and charm throughout the village. Everyone we encountered was so friendly and welcoming, and the whole place has that cozy, small-town vibe that makes Lancaster County so special. The prices are very reasonable for the quality and craftsmanship you’re getting, and it’s wonderful having so many different shops all located in one easy-to-walk village. You can shop, snack, and stroll to your heart’s content without ever needing to get back in your car. Kitchen Kettle Village is a perfect day trip destination, whether you’re shopping for gifts, stocking your pantry with delicious local treats, or just enjoying the atmosphere. We’ll definitely be back — there’s still so much more to explore! Highly, highly recommend.

The highlight is the jam and relish kitchen where you can watch jams being made and sample dozens of flavors. Everything tastes fresh and authentic, and it’s nearly impossible to leave without taking some home. There are also plenty of food stands and sit-down dining options, making it easy to spend hours here. What really makes the experience special is the atmosphere and the people. The staff are welcoming and friendly, and the whole place has a relaxed, small-town feel. Whether you’re shopping, eating, or just wandering, Kitchen Kettle Village is the perfect place for a day trip with family or friends

Kitchen Kettle Village was such a fun and charming stop! There were so many shops to explore — from homemade treats to handcrafted decor — and even some of the cutest little Airbnbs right on-site. I could’ve taken home so many snacks and goodies, but the semi can only hold so much 😂 We still managed to bring back a few favorites! The fudge-making was so fun to watch (and taste!), and the pretzels, ice cream, and kettle corn are absolute must-tries. It made for such a nice, relaxing afternoon in the heart of Amish Country, and we can’t wait to come back again soon! 🛍️🍦🌾

I wanted to share my thoughts on my most recent visit to Kitchen Kettle Village, which truly feels like a home away from home for me. My sister and I have been visiting for over six years, and I even came here as a child with my parents. I particularly enjoy the jams and delicious cookies, especially the soft molasses and gingerbread varieties. Kitchen Kettle Village is a wonderful place to visit with family and friends. I appreciate that the Amish countryside has retained its charm over the years and that the community continues to uphold its traditions. The rooms are always clean and ready early for us.

Loved our visit to The Village Kitchen! The Jam and Relish Kitchen is my favorite, so many great jars of all kinds of food. Love the cookies and they have vintage candy too. Be sure to grab some caramel corn from the Papaya Kettle Corn Shoppe (so good!). And don’t miss the Christmas shop Grand Place (family owned and operated) such a fun place to wander and check out Christmas Nativity sets from all around the world. Tip: make sure you go upstairs or you will miss it. There is also a donut shop across the street. Walk down Pepper Lane and cross the Newport Road and ask for the wedding donut at the M&A Sweet treats. They have lots of Amish pastries. Can’t wait to go back!

Loved Christmas tree hill shop for gifts n decor. Lee wranglers store is definitely worth. Ran out of time to see other store but planning a return. Easy parking. Hours great

We stopped by The Shops at Rockvale during our Lancaster trip and had a nice time overall. While the shopping center isn’t as full as it used to be, the stores that are still there offer great deals and friendly service. We found some nice bargains and enjoyed browsing at places like QVC Outlet and Crate & Barrel. It’s not a huge or bustling outlet mall anymore, but if you love hunting for deals, it’s still worth the visit. Clean, quiet, and easy to navigate—just manage your expectations, and you’ll enjoy the stop!

Depressing outdoor mall. Many empty store fronts. High light was the Pepperidge Farm outlet store. Stocked up on great assortment of cookies and Gold Fish. Just have to check dates. Some items are past 'best buy' dates.

Wow! This WHOLE place was empty....no shops, no restaurants no anything! I was a new visitor to PA looking for close things to do and I was constantly disappointed. I wish I knew people in town to ask where is everyone and what do they do there, but I don't and I was seriously disappointed in the few places I went that were literally dead and a waste of gas. Don't go here if you're looking for something to do, there is NOTHING there.

It's a wasteland! Most of it is closed looks like abandoned property. Apparently there are condos going to be built.

Only a few shops left. Most of its being torn down. Kinda sad. Thankfully, a couple of my favorite stores are still here.
John H — Google review
This place is under new ownership and under reconstruction. Do not go there if you want to shop, but it's certainly good to look and see if they have anything you want.

What's still there's, is great, but it could use many new stores. The direct tools outlet for ryobi tools is fantastic.
