St George's Greek Orthodox Church is a 19th-century church that holds a significant treasure of early Christianity. It was built over the remains of a 6th-century Byzantine church and houses a remarkable mosaic floor depicting the oldest map of Palestine in existence. The mosaic, discovered in 1884, provides historical insights into the region and covers an area of about 94 square meters. The church offers visitors an opportunity to explore this ancient artifact and learn about its historical significance.
Home to the world-famous Madaba Map, St. George’s Church is a living mosaic of faith and history. Built in the late 19th century over the ruins of a Byzantine church, it houses the oldest known map of the Holy Land—crafted from millions of tiny colored stones. Known locally as كنيسة القديس جورج, this active Greek Orthodox sanctuary draws pilgrims and historians alike, standing as a bridge between ancient cartography and living worship. Its humble exterior hides a treasure that continues to shape how we see the sacred geography of the past.

Majestic Hilltop Church with Hidden Caves & Tower Viewpoint Discover a stunning church perched above the town, known not only for its grand architecture but also for the mysterious caves lying beneath its foundation. Climb the ancient tower for panoramic views across the entire town and surrounding landscape, a truly breathtaking experience that combines history, faith, and natural wonder. Better to visit when winter is about to begin.

A Sacred Gem of History and Faith Visiting the St. George Greek Orthodox Church in Madaba was a deeply moving experience. The moment I stepped inside, I felt a sense of peace and divine presence that words can hardly describe. The church is home to the famous 6th-century mosaic map of the Holy Land, a breathtaking piece of sacred art that beautifully connects history, faith, and geography. The priests and caretakers were warm and welcoming, happy to share the story of the church and its significance in Christianity. The atmosphere is serene — the scent of incense, the gentle flicker of candles, and the ancient walls seem to whisper prayers from centuries past. Whether you come as a pilgrim, a seeker of history, or simply a traveler drawn by curiosity, St. George’s Church offers a rare opportunity to feel the union of heaven and earth. It reminds us that faith transcends time and that sacred spaces still hold living energy. A must-visit for anyone exploring Jordan — not just for its history, but for the peace it brings to the heart.

The Church of the Map in Madaba, located in blessed Jordan. The Church of the Map is a Greek Orthodox church, famous for its mosaic map of the Holy Land—covering Palestine, Jordan, and Sinai—and dating back to the year 560 AD. The map is composed of over two million mosaic pieces and provides a vivid depiction of the natural landscape, as well as the topographical layout of cities and villages—up to 150 locations. It includes incredibly detailed elements, even down to streets and roads within cities. This mosaic map is considered one of the oldest discovered mosaic floors and the oldest original map of the Holy Land. The map stretches south to the Nile Delta, north to Sarafand in Lebanon, west to the Mediterranean Sea, and east to the city of Karak. Among the sites featured on the map are: 1. Jerusalem 2. Bethlehem 3. Hebron 4. Jericho 5. Karak 6. Mount Sinai 7. The Jordan River 8. The Nile River 9. The Mediterranean Sea 10. The Dead Sea

You need to buy a ticket to ender now worth 3 jod, cash, from the shop on the ruight side. The shop is disorganised, no queue, just a bunch of people near the register talking through one another. The mosaic inside is impressive.

A lovely Church with the oldest mosaic map in the world. Unfortunately the church was under renovation when we went so most of the artworks were not in place. The main one we got to see was the Map on the floor.

Points of Interest & Landmarks
Madaba Archaeological Park is a historical gem in the heart of Madaba, Jordan. It features a well-preserved Roman road, Byzantine mosaics, and Ottoman-era buildings. The city is rich in culture and history, with attractions like the Madaba Institute for Mosaic Art & Restoration and Artisan Street offering insights into local crafts. The park itself showcases ancient treasures dating back to the Roman period, including some of Jordan's oldest mosaics.
One of the key touristic attractions in the touristic part of Madaba. The place isn’t that big, yet there are some parts that are worth indulging in; mainly the mosaic designs. Tickets can be bought at the entrance. The place involves stairs and racks. Expect to spend no more than 30 minutes here. This is the first stop after departing the Madaba Visitor Center.
Fahd ب — Google review
The Madaba archeological park is split into 2 sites, both very close to eachother, but requiring local knowledge to find. Thus, it may be worth asking at the visitor centre or finding a driver with local knowledge (ours was a Madaba resident). The mosaics are the main attraction at the park, with beautiful patterns, scenes of animals and mythological figures. As usual we and a nearby party fell victim to the 'guides'. They follow you around regurgitating information readily available on the signs, distracting you from reading, and leading you around at such pace that you are prevented from taking in the beautiful art - presumably in a hurry to get their 'tip'. In fact, at park 1, one of these 'guides' kept spraying water on the mosaics in some pointless attempt to make them more visible. Surely, that can't be good for their preservation. It is annoying. Despite this, the archeological park offers ruins and, most impressively, early Byzantine mosaics that are incredibly well-preserved (except for one that fell victim to the madness of the iconoclasm). A must-see.
Hugo R — Google review
Madaba Archaeological Park is divided into two parts: the Church of the Virgin Mary and the Church of the Prophet Elijah. The place is very beautiful, featuring stunning mosaics, and it is exceptionally well preserved.
Abdullah W — Google review
A compact yet layered window into ancient Madaba, this park preserves Roman streets, Byzantine churches, and iconic mosaics like the Hippolytus Hall. It's a walkable time capsule where ruins from different eras—Roman, Byzantine, and Islamic—converge in one open-air museum at the heart of the city.
Marina S — Google review
city of tiny mosaic artwork! We spent a few hours here wandering alive the archaeological park, note that most of it is included in the Jordan pass, just show it on your phone if they ask, most of the time they just let you in without checking if you tell them you have the pass :) it’s a nice city to walk around towards the evening as the old are lights up and looks beautiful! It’s worth checking it if you are into history and it’s in your way to the Dead Sea, makes a nice stop for exploring and eating!

The Madaba Archaeological Park is really not that big, but it's kinda cute. The Ticket is JD 3, but it also includes an entrance to the Apostles Church and another place that I can't quite remember at the moment. The highlight is Virgen Mary's Church and it will take you about 20 minutes to visit the whole thing. The Madaba Visitor's Center is close by and also the St. George's Church.
Jose C — Google review
During my last day I decided to do the walking tour of Madaba. If you pop into Madaba Visitors Centre you can pick up a free map. Some of the sites are free with the Jordan Pass, but some you still have to pay JOD 1 to enter regardless of whether or not you have the pass. The tour is self guided and easy to navigate with the map. At each site staff will ask if you want a guided tour, for which you will pay them an additional JOD 1. I declined the offer of guides, as there was plenty of written information available at the sites. There wasn’t anything that particularly blew me away, but I did enjoy visiting Church of the Beheading of John the Baptist. It was quite surreal walking into a Roman Catholic Church in a Muslim country and hearing recorded church organ music on repeat! I did see signs requesting there be silence in the church, but not one visitor took a blind bit of notice! Then by stark contrast, in the vaults underneath the church there is the Acropolis Museum, complete with recorded Middle Eastern music! I enjoyed exploring the vaults and seeing the various items on display. A nice way to while away a couple of hours in Madaba.

St. John the Baptist Roman Catholic Church is a captivating destination in Madaba, Jordan, known for its well-preserved Byzantine mosaics. The city itself is rich in culture and history, with attractions like the Madaba Institute for Mosaic Art & Restoration and the Archaeological Park showcasing ancient art and artifacts. The church features an Acropolis Museum that houses a functioning well dating back 3000 years. Visitors can also climb the bell tower for stunning views.
The church was a nice surprise that we did not plan to stop, but was definitely worth a visit! Tunnels/rooms underneath the current church and you can climb up the bell tower for a great view of Madaba. Lots of info inside about the history. Cost was not bad at only 1 JOD each (not included in Jordan Pass).

This is one of the must-visit churches in Madaba. Tickets are bought at the entrance. Other than the church main building, there is maze of chambers that are worth exploring, in addition to climbing the bell-tower. The views at the top show a 360 degree view of the city of Madaba. Within walking distance from this church is the touristic street, other churches, and a museum. Expect to spend no less than 30 minutes exploring this church.

This church is a top attraction in Madaba, with tickets available for purchase at the entrance. Beyond the main sanctuary, visitors can explore a labyrinth of chambers and climb the bell tower. From the top, you'll be rewarded with a full 360-degree panoramic view of Madaba. Nearby, within walking distance, you'll find the popular tourist street, additional churches, and a museum. Plan to spend at least 30 minutes discovering all that this church has to offer.
Zaid R — Google review
This modest yet powerful church commemorates one of Christianity’s most profound moments: the beheading of St. John the Baptist. Known locally as كنيسة اللاتين, the church blends Roman Catholic tradition with Middle Eastern heritage. Its underground passages and ancient mosaics whisper stories from centuries past, while its bell tower offers one of the best panoramic views of the city. A spiritual and cultural landmark, it stands as a tribute to faith, sacrifice, and the deep roots of Christianity in the region.
Marina S — Google review
St John was beheaded at near by site and this church is dedicated to his sacrifice built over a castle 120 years back. The castle itself is a treasure as it has 4000 years old well. The mosaic floor work depicts stories of hormone, old Palestine and Jordan cities.
Saurabh S — Google review
One of the many hidden treasures that Madaba has to offer. From underground tunnels to the top of the bell tower this is a stop you must make to experience the true beauty of Madaba's Christian history. The staff are helpful, the area is beautiful and the church hall itself is an enchanting place to come and pray. A must visit in your way through Madaba.
Jazmine I — Google review
It is a peaceful and beautiful landmark in Madaba. The bell tower is a highlight, climbing up rewards you with panoramic views of the whole city. Inside, you’ll also find a mosaic floor; it’s a replica, but very well presented and still gives a sense of Madaba’s rich history.
Mariya A — Google review
A must-visit while in Madaba! St. John’s Church is a peaceful, well-maintained site that adds real charm to the city’s spiritual and historical appeal. I especially loved the Tent of Ruth and the Bell Tower — climbing the tower offers stunning panoramic views of the entire city from all sides. The atmosphere is calm and serene, matching the overall peaceful vibe of Madaba. The visit doesn’t take much time — about 30 minutes is enough to explore the area — but it’s absolutely worth it.

The Madaba Archaeological Museum houses a collection of mosaic masterpieces from the 5th through the 7th centuries, depicting an array of subjects such as flowers, animals, mythology, and everyday activities. The city also boasts several archaeological sites including the Madaba Archaeological Park and the Madaba Castle. Visitors can explore the rich history and culture of Madaba at these parks.

LUAI A — Google review
The Archeological site is pretty small you can probably spend 30-45 minutes, but the ticket will get you entrance to other sites as well.
Jose C — Google review
This museum is a great example of the splendid archeological centres found in Madaba. Ask at the centre or find a local driver who can direct you to it as it is otherwise hard to find. You will find splendid mosaics, columns, historical Bedouin clothing and archeological assemblages. The Bedouin guy working there acted as an unwanted guide, walking ahead of us and speaking phrases unintelligible except for '6th century' and '2nd century', etc. Despite his transparent (though ultimately successful) attempt to solicit a 'tip' from us by working as an impromptu 'guide' (which seems to be the trend at the most popular sites), I was glad to hear which centuries the objects came from (assuming they were true). The mosaics are a few of many incredible mosaics to be found in Madaba, and this museum, though modest, is a must-see for your day trip into the town.
Hugo R — Google review
This is a small yet worth-visiting museum in Madaba, and is probably the only museum while visiting the Madaba ancient city. Tickets can be bought at the counter. The place is quite small with two small chambers and some ancient pieces scattered here and there. There are some nice mosaics, too. Expect to spend 15-30 minutes here.
Fahd ب — Google review
Such a beautiful museum with beautiful mosaics, very informative, but it needs a little care.

The place is amazing with history and mosaic from different places of Madaba. Entrance fees is cheap 0.25 JOD for Jordanians and 3 JOD for tourists and tickets include visiting 4 locations with no extra fees. The place needs some attention and guidance to enjoy the tour more.
Saed S — Google review
The place is more like a house, where different rooms have mosaic floors. I DO NOT recommend it. You will be welcomed by a person who knows very little English and the only understandable words are: 'original' and '6th century'.

The Madaba Institute for Mosaic Art and Restoration (MIMAR) is a non-profit organization established in 2007 through a strong public-private partnership. It is known for its exceptional archaeological site featuring magnificent paleo-Christian mosaics. Additionally, it houses the oldest school for mosaic learning, fostering creativity within the local community. The institute offers an intriguing insight into the art of mosaic making and restoration, making it a perfect destination for those interested in ancient crafts and artistic traditions.
We went for a short visit to know about the school. They have a field to play futsal. We were lucky to meet someone to explain to us how to do the mosaics. It was an incredible experience for us. The man is very kind and nice. He spoke English as well. Great experience after all the small walks in Madaba City.

Church of the Martyrs is a historic site in Madaba, Jordan, dating back to the 6th century AD. The church features an extensive mosaic floor with depictions of humans, trees, ships, animals, and various designs. While some of the mosaics were destroyed by iconoclasts in the 8th century, many have been carefully preserved. The church was built along the Roman road and incorporates reused architectural elements from that era.
Free if you have the "Jordan Pass" otherwise is 3JOD. Nice place that deserve the visit.

This is another one of the fine church’s in Madaba that comes with its history. It is quite small, and can be explored in less than 30 minutes. Tickets can be bought at the entrance. There are some really nice mosaic drawings here. Very close-by are some of the other attractions in Madaba, souvenir shops, and restaurants.

This church is located inside Madaba city center. The entrance is free because we have a Jordan Pass. We spent at least 10 minutes here. The lady offered us a tour guide but we politely declined. We prefer to explore by ourselves. We can see beautiful mosaics, and the old architecture of the church.

Old church from 6th century AD with an extensive mosaic floor with ice ns of humans, trees, ships, animals, designs and so on. Unfortunately most of them destroyed due to iconoclasts. A war where soldiers were sent to destroy the icons of animals designs on mosaic floor. Still, many of them.have survived and carefully preserved. Original mosaic vast floors can be seen in Mount nebo where the mosaic floor was covered with normal tiles before the army reached the church.
Minch — Google review
The Church of the Martyrs was built during the first half of the 6th century AD along the Roman road that crossed ancient Madaba. The church incorporates reused architectural elements such as columns, capitals and bases. The church has an extensive mosaic floor that unfortunately was damaged by iconoclasts in the 8th century. However, enough as survived to give an idea of the high level of expertise that the mosaicists of Madaba possessed in their workmanship. The name of the church is the original name of this Byzantine church as attested by a mosaic medallion in the vestibule of the church. Visitors can enter to this church from the Burnt Palace/Department of Antiquities door or from the Greek Orthodox souvenir shop around the corner. Entrance is free.

Very comfortable place, very nice host. We arrived late from the airport and we ordered the « light » dinner, it was very good! Room was clean, bed comfortable and the breakfast was one of the best we had in Jordan. We’ll go back there the day before we leave Jordan. Free parking was available

Cannot have any better service than this really. Ideally situated in the center of Madaba with plenty shops and restaurants around this is a great place to stay. The rooms are spacious and absolutely clean. Breakfasts and dinners are of a very high standard in quality (and quantity too, sometimes too much but you can ask for smaller portions) and diversity. Owners (family business) are all so kind and customer oriented : they just don’t know what to do to be nice to their guests. We had an early start the last day and they prepared a small box for our breakfast 😍😍. A place which deserves success and promotion on the networks.

You can leave your car in their private parking and go for a walk very easily, all the interested places like the churches are close (between 5 and 10 minutes walking). We didn’t hear any noise from the main road. We had dinner and lunched at the hotel, the meals were absolutely delicious ! We ate the best maklouba of our whole Jordanian trip ! The family and staff is really kind and helpful in case you need. It is really a nice place to stay, you will feel at home every time for sure. When visiting Madaba, a must-see stop is the Apostles Church كنيسة الرسل, renowned for its remarkable mosaic floors. As part of a walking tour, visitors can explore this ancient church and learn about the early Christian communities that once thrived in the area. The city also offers access to significant religious sites such as Mount Nebo and the Madaba Museum.
One of the must-visit places while in Madaba. This is a restored church with lots of mosaic that is being rebuilt. You can buy tickets at the entrance. Exploring the place would take no more than 15 minutes. If you are exploring Madaba through the pre-defined path, this is the last station in the tour after which you head back to the Madaba Visitor Center.

Madaba is a mosaic city. Can see lots of mosaics all over the city, especially i. The church. Apostles church is an archaeological site and you can see well preserved mosaics. Good place to visit
Kwang K — Google review
The Church of the Apostles is an ancient historical church and one of the significant landmarks in the history of Christian architecture. One of its most remarkable features is the large mosaic floor, considered one of the finest examples of Byzantine mosaic art. This floor is composed of thousands of small, colorful pieces forming religious and symbolic scenes, often depicting the apostles, intricate geometric patterns, and inscriptions in Greek or Latin. The mosaics were not merely decorative; they served as a visual means of teaching the faith and conveying Gospel stories to the congregation, especially at a time when illiteracy was widespread.
Abdullah W — Google review
This is an interesting site with very beautiful mosaics on the floor and their structural arches make a very beautiful shape. Definitely worth a lot because it is included in the Jordan pass.
David L — Google review
Hidden near the edge of Madaba, this 6th-century Byzantine church stands out for its mosaic of Thalassa, the sea goddess, framed by apostles and marine life. Built on a small hill, it combines spiritual symbolism with artistic detail, offering quiet insight into early Christian art in Jordan.

Nestled in the heart of Madaba, Black Iris Hotel offers a humble yet convenient stay with its pared-down rooms and apartments. Guests can enjoy complimentary breakfast and Wi-Fi during their visit. The hotel's prime location provides easy access to historic churches, renowned mosaics, shops, and restaurants while maintaining a tranquil atmosphere. Additionally, it serves as an ideal base for exploration with its proximity to key tourist attractions such as Mount Nebo, the Dead Sea, and the airport.
This is a great little hotel to stay at while visiting Madaba. I stayed for 7 nights and everything was great. The front desk and dining room staff are incredibly friendly and helpful. Breakfast is served each day on the ground floor. The little buffet has something for everyone including warm eggs and a meat dish. My room was spacious, and the bed comfortable. Even had a kettle, which was a lovely surprise. I would highly recommend this clean, and friendly hotel to anyone heading to Madaba. Oh the location is great too. Walkable to all of the tourist sights around town.

We stayed at the Black Iris Hotel at the end of April 24 for 2 nights. The rrom was nice, clean and the breakfast and terrace are lovely. Staff was welcoming and accomodated our very late arrival (we checked in at about 1am as we had a late arrival at the airport). I would definitely recommend to stay there.

Black Iris is an amazing hotel. I had the opportunity to stay at this hotel for the third trip of me coming to Jordan. The service is great. The people are great and enjoying my time here. I feel safe and welcome and I can’t be more happier.

We had a great time at Black Iris last weekend. This was our 4th time at Madaba and all these 4 times we stayed at the same hotel as it was the best in the town. Friendly staff, good brakfast, very good location near to the Madaba City Mall, Perfect rooms. The rooms/ hotel is very clean too. Need to mention about the receptionist, Safaa is a very friendly, english speaking lady who helped us a lot even arranging the taxis to the hotel as well. Definitely we will stay in fiture as well and recommending to anyone who look for the best place for a good price at Madaba.

Black Iris Hotel was absolutely my favourite hotel I stayed in whilst touring Jordan - my only grumble is that I was only there for one night! I arrived a little early and was warmly welcomed by Safia. Her English is superb, and she was incredibly kind and helpful. Location is excellent; although you are just a street away from all the shops, cafes and restaurants, the hotel is very peaceful. Rooms are spacious, modern, clean, and very well appointed. My favourite part of the room though was the shower - which was powerful and I was able to adjust the temperature to suit me. It was an absolute joy not to have a shower that either boiled me alive or was freezing cold! I also loved that you can help yourself to free tea and coffee throughout the day, which is downstairs in the dining room. You can also refill your water bottles too. As it was my last night in Madaba I opted to have dinner at the hotel, which cost JOD 10 and caters for vegetarians. The meal was excellent, and far too big for me to finish, but it was absolutely delicious. The hotel also has a bar where you can purchase alcohol. Unfortunately I didn’t get to try the breakfast, as I had to leave the hotel in the early hours. The reception desk is manned 24hrs and someone was there to check me out when I left at 4.30am I adore this hotel, its facilities, food, but most especially the staff - who were all fantastic. I wish I could have stayed for longer. I highly recommend staying at Black Iris Hotel.

My friends and I really enjoyed our stay in Black Iris Hotel - Madaba! The staff is so welcoming. Thank you Safaa and Rami for your smiles and help giving directions and tips so we can enjoy as much as we can of Madaba! The room was exceptionally clean, the beds are comfortable. There are water bottles, an electric kettle, 3 in 1 coffee sachets... The bathroom is great, with a good shower place and nice water pressure, toiletries and clean towels! The place is so quiet, and at the same time, at 2 minute walking distance to the city center and main attractions, like also 5 minutes away from Saint George Orthodox Church famous for its oldest mosaic map of the Holy Land. The breakfast was generous, and they have a beautiful terrace with greenery if the weather is fine! The price is so affordable, and our experience was way more better than expected! Also the hotel is about 20 minutes to Mount Nebo, and around 50 minutes to the Baptism place of Jesus. Enjoy your stay ❤️

This hotel is a little gem. Top service either a smile, parking, in a perfect location for access to the sites & shopping, decent breakfast at a super reasonable price. Who could want more?

I was part of a group that stayed here on our way to Palestine and it was PERFECT. The location was walkable to everywhere, the rooms were comfortable, and the staff . . . they were awesome! I would have no problem suggested them for the future and if ever find myself back in Jordan, I know where I am staying!

Grand Hotel Madaba is a stylish and elegant hotel located in the heart of Madaba. The hotel offers comfortable rooms, an outdoor pool, a restaurant, and a terrace cafe. It's conveniently situated within walking distance to popular attractions such as the Basilica of Saint George and the Madaba Mosaic Map. Despite some minor issues with facilities like toilets and wifi, the friendly staff are quick to address them.
I recently had the pleasure of staying at this wonderful hotel, and I must say that the experience exceeded all my expectations. The hotel itself is beautifully maintained, with welcoming atmosphere that immediately makes you feel at home. The rooms were spotless, comfortable, and equipped with all the modern amenities one could need. What truly sets this hotel apart, however, is the exceptional level of service provided by the staff. Every employee I encountered was friendly, professional, and genuinely eager to assist. In particular, I would like to extend my deepest gratitude to Muhannad Karadsheh. Muhannad’s dedication, kindness, and attention to detail made my stay especially memorable. He went above and beyond to ensure that all my needs were met promptly and with a smile, demonstrating true hospitality and professionalism. Thanks to Muhannad and the entire team, my visit was flawless and enjoyable. I highly recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a comfortable and delightful stay with outstanding service.

Absolutely horrific hotel! I stayed with a group and every one of our hotel rooms were dirty, hair in the drains, broken lamps and our bathroom smelled like cat pee. The beds are a box spring with a worn foam pad on top. DO NOT STAY!

The rooms are beautifully modern, with stylish decor and all the amenities you could need. They were impeccably clean and incredibly comfortable, making it easy to unwind and enjoy my stay. The service at Grand Hotel Madaba is top-notch. The staff were always friendly, attentive, and eager to help with any requests. The food was delicious, with a wide variety of dishes that were both flavorful and beautifully presented. Overall, Grand Hotel Madaba exceeded all my expectations. I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a memorable and delightful stay.

A splendid stay at Grand Hotel Madaba! I must highlight the exquisite furniture, reminiscent of a royal palace, which added an extra touch of luxury and elegance to our experience. Grand Hotel Madaba truly maintains its prestigious atmosphere in an authentic way. The food was outstanding with a diverse selection. The staff were not only exceptionally friendly but also professional, taking care of us until late hours amidst a massive storm outside, just before our flight departure. Many thanks for this fantastic experience! I highly recommend giving it a try!

I stayed there from the 6th November till the 8th November for business and I loved the place. The staff at the reception are most helpful and competent. The rooms are very nice and calm. In the morning you can have your breakfast by the pool. The food is really nice. Will be back there in 2 weeks and looking forward to it

Really nice place and very good price, was only there for one night and i had arrived late at night so i didn't get to use much of the facilities. But the breakfast the next day was nice. The staff were really friendly and helpful. I arrived to breakfast late but the staff made sure they held up packing up breakfast for me. the room was very clean and bed was comfortable. They have a nice outside area downstairs which i sadly didn't spend time at because of my late arrival but i checked it out the next morning and it seems like a nice place to hang out. I'm planning to visit again in the future and it'll be a place i stay at again.

Nice middle class hotel, clean rooms, some bathrooms would need an update, but are acceptible. European style breakfast with all local food additions, all Madabar byzantinic moasaih stuffed churches are within walking distance. Breakfast only, no lunch or supper served.

This hotel is wonderful! If we get a chance to return to Jordan we will absolutely stay here again. Madaba is a perfect location to stay in Jordan. It's not over congested like Amman but there is so much to do. It's about a 45 minute drive to the dead sea, an hour to Amman, and 15 min from Mount Nebo. There are many other historic sites in Madaba as well. They have a small private parking lot which is perfect because there is so much within walking distance. The tourist street is nearby with many shops and welcoming locals. Plenty of coffee shops, restaurants, and shopping as well. The rooms were clean and comfortable and the staff was truly wonderful. Haithm and Nadeen were especially amazing. They went above and beyond for us and made us feel so welcomed. Thank you so much! We hope we can return soon!

Great family run hotel in the centre of Madaba! It was one of the highlights of our trip. The rooms are spacious and comfortable. Breakfast is freshly made every morning and very delicious. The owners are kind and friendly but respect customers’ privacy. They gave us a lot of great tips on where to go eat and what to do in the city. A place that feels like home!

We choose this hotel for the home-made breakfast! Which was special, as the service and welcoming too! Rooms comfortable, with bathrooms very very clean! Is not a usual thing in Jordan… Is a family management very well done. Edward maybe is the name of the son? In any case we found an occidental hospitality there! Thanks 🙏🏼

We visited Tell Madaba Hotel as a group back in April. Edward was really communicative, friendly, and helpful before, and during our stay. He made sure everything is going as we wish. He even gave us restaurant recommendations which we accepted and we are glad we did! We had a wonderful time in Madaba thanks to him. The rooms were tidy, private, and clean. The location is also very close to the center. On our last day our plane left really early, so Edward made sure we get some food on our way. Thank you!

My daughter and I visited this hotel. Edward and his family welcomed us warmly. We stayed at this hotel at the end of our trip to Jordan. We were worried about driving to the center of Amman, so this hotel was close to the airport, which was a relief. There is also parking next to the hotel. He gave us great advice. The casual restaurant he recommended was popular with locals, where we could try local cuisine at a reasonable price. He also gave us information about our next destination, Cairo. Thank you!

Tell Madaba is a lovely, family run hotel in the centre of Madaba. It is within walking distance from all major attractions, clean and safe, but what I appreciated the most was the hospitality the owners showed us. Edward, who runs the hotel with his mum, is very friendly and went above and beyond to suggest recommendations which included the best chicken shawarma we ever had! Thank you for taking care of us!

We arrived very late but we're still welcome by the attendant I think the owner it was very courteous and gave us the family room. The beds were very decent not amazing, but we had very clean facilities at our disposal the morning after the breakfast was great it was served in the rooftop when we could see all of madaba. Breakfast at classic Jordanian items and we were very satisfied. It is definitely a great deal to be in front of the map mosaic. Just across the street from the main attraction in Manila. Are you parked up front and it was extremely easy to get there and to get out.

Nice hotel in the city centre with good value for money. The host Zaka was very kind and made us feel very welcome. The room is good and it is very nice to have the balcony. The best thing is the roof terrace. The ambience is nice and the view over the city is great. It’s a good spot to chill and have the good oriental breakfast or drink a tea late in the evening and relax. Would recommend!

The rooftop terrace has great views and the staff are very friendly and helpful. Would definitely stay here again!

I stayed here from 9th-13th April 2024. Aitch Boutique Hotel was of the best hotels I have stayed, the staff is so helpful and friendly. Breakfast is nice, the hotel is clean, Wi-Fi speed is great. The main thing for me was the location, as I don’t prefer to stay in big cities like Amman which have lot of traffic, so this hotel was a great choice for me, also this hotel is near to Queen Alia Airport.
Mufazzal A — Google review
Great hotel with pool and an excellent and generous breakfast. The staff were super helpful and assisted me with finding a driver for a trip I wanted to do at a good price. Very handy for Madaba and close to lots of shops and amenities.
Fiona H — Google review
We had a very nice stay at the hotel. The staff was friendly and helpful, they gave us a lot of explanations about what to do in the area. The room was small but comfortable and quiet. The only point to improve could be their breakfast as they were not a lot of choices. Also good to know, the pool is open for the public during the day so it could get quite messy and noisy if you have families around like we had...
Alexia L — Google review
Nice clean and large rooms within walking distance from Madaba's highlights and city centre. Hotel is quite new and has some modern touches. Friendly staff who made us really felt welcome. Nice swimming pool and outside area (with bar) to enjoy afternoon or evening. Free parking available at the back of the hotel. We don't understand the negative comments about breakfast: much variety of choices, fresh breads and some sweets too. Even a freshly baked omelet as you wish. We found this hotel that good that we booked again for our last days in Jordan before we fly back home! × WiFi (speed) can be improved
Wesley B — Google review
Excellent hotel with great rooms and a great bed. Very good value, in my opinion. Just one drawback: the shower. The drain is not great and the water temperature goes from boiling hot to cold so you end up wasting a lot of precious water trying to get the temperature right. It's also difficult to get in and out, and it's difficult not to splash water everywhere. Also the toilet seat has a tendency to move out of place.
Guido P — Google review
This hotel was absolutely wonderful. The rooms are great, clean, have wifi, the beds are comfy and the showers are beyond wonderful after a long day out and about. The staff is super helpful with recommendations and even after our horrible experience at the Dead Sea, where our accommodation was so horrble we had to leave, they found a solution for us in the fully booked hotel. The breakfast is tasty, the bar is nice and the garden area very modern and great. Highly recommended and would stay again at any time!

The King Hussein Mosque in Madaba is a significant architectural landmark and a must-see attraction. Visitors are allowed to enter the interior, but it's crucial to be respectful as it is a religious site. At night, the mosque and its minarets are beautifully illuminated, offering a captivating sight for those exploring the area after dark. Many travelers have had memorable experiences here, including witnessing prayer sessions and receiving warm hospitality from the Jordanian people.
It is etiquette for entering the mosque to wear outer clothing to put it in the place designated for it, and to ask for women’s clothing from inside the mosque with a shawl covering, and to enter the mosque and photograph it. Thank you.

Church
The Madaba Church of the Nazarene is a modern architectural gem nestled in the heart of Madaba, Jordan. Established in the early 1980s, this church stands out with its limestone structure and thoughtful design. As you approach from Al-Gharbi Street, you'll be greeted by inscriptions in both Arabic and English that echo the profound words of Jesus from Matthew 23:35.
God bless Jordan with this holy church of the Naszaren. This particular church is located on right side of the main road just as you enter Madaba city on Al-gharbi street. The church was built on the early eighties in a modern style using lime stone. It has some writing in Arabic words and in English language from the words of Jesus in Matthew 23:35, "Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will not pass away."
