The Elevador Lacerda is a historic art deco elevator that provides scenic views while connecting the upper and lower parts of Salvador. It offers a convenient and affordable way to explore the old city center, with taxis, buses, and foot travel also being viable options. This iconic elevator was erected in the mid to late 1800s and showcases impressive Art Deco design from additional work done in the early 20th century.
It's a small pastry and ice cream shop situated right next to the elevator. I have to admit that the ice creams are delicious, generously served, and really cheap. You may choose to get them in a cone or a cup. The 'Pave' flavor is amazing! Pave is a Brazilian cake-like dessert.
Arkadiusz J — Google review
The City around the elevator is dangerous. The elevator looks good, but it's not spectacular to use.
Matheus Z — Google review
A tourist attraction with a lot of history. ⭐ The elevator is very fast and takes you to the upper city in a few seconds ⭐ We did not pay an entrance fee and did not have to wait in a queue ⭐ Nothing else to say or to do. Very straightforward. It is an elevator after all. But fun nonetheless! Also, prices for souvenirs in the upper city are cheaper than at Mercado Modelo!
B. N — Google review
Lacerda Elevator was the first urban elevator in the world when it opened on December 8, 1873 the 63 meters tall elevator takes you from lower town to upper town. A major tourist attractions and photo spot of Salvador. Great views of the bay and the governors palace.
Yrjö O — Google review
Beware of people who try to sell souvenirs and paint your body. They pretend it’s a freebie but will try to get as much as they can from you. Another advice, do not wear gold necklaces and such. Large groups or maybe with a guide is safer.
Rodrigo A — Google review
The history behind the construction is interesting, however it’s not a great place to go. Going up and down costs R$0,15 per visitor and the elevator is too crowded, hot as hell and smells sweat. Great view up there though.
Enzo — Google review
It's very cheap at only R$0.15, and conveniently located. It facilitates a 10 minute walk from the ferry to Pelourinho or from Pelourinho to the market. There may be a bit of a line depending on the time of day that you visit. Can also get a bit hot during the day. There are stunning views from the top, a very popular photo op spot, as well as a famous ice cream shop help you beat the heat. Can't miss it on a visit to Salvador and I definitely recommend taking it at least once.
Andre W — Google review
Better one to dine in. Beautiful ambient. Sitting area overlooking sun set and Mercado Modelo. It is right at exit of the upper level of Elevator. Best time to have ice cream is during sun set

Mercado Modelo is a popular market in Salvador, featuring over 250 shops offering a variety of arts, crafts, and souvenirs. The large yellow building housing the market is an example of neoclassical architecture and inside, elegant stone arches crown the alleys and streets. Visitors can also enjoy a view of the Bay of All Saints from a huge curved balcony covered in umbrellas.
Great tourist spot. Lots of little shops for souvenirs and food. There is a bigger restaurant overlooking the ocean. In the area are a few museums to visit. The large elevator is steps away. We came back here several times because there are so many things to do. We felt safe and they kept the area clean.

Traditional port in Salvador. Lots of little shops to buy useless memorabilia for your house, family and friends. Beautiful view of the port and sunset from the second floor restaurant/bar - makes it worth the trip.
Henry G — Google review
Beautiful building and market by the marina. It’s worth a visit to browse through some souvenirs, however, little to no local and artisanal handicrafts. Also the vendors are quite pushy which ruined the shopping experience a little. In my opinion, there are other local vendors and artisanal shops around the city that offer better and unique handicrafts.
Randall R — Google review
Surprise experience that turned out to be the highlight of my day in the area. Amazing visual experience. Totally worth the short wait on the day I visited.

Very touristy and a lot of stalls which sell exactly the same items. Nothing wow! Very nice terrace.
Tamara C — Google review
Amazing ! Lots of choice and everyone is very friendly. Lots of security too.
Melis R — Google review
This is indeed one of the greatest and most know trademarks for anyone visiting Salvador for the first time. Currently, the market is passing by a renovation so its split in two different sections. But both have basically the same kind of products available. At first, I've thought this would be similar to São Paulo's Municipal Market; however, here you will find just two or three options of restaurants with most of the other places taken by souvenirs stores. It can be a great place if you're looking for this type of store but be attentive of the prices - you can similar items for huge price variance. Tip: things here are cheaper than most of the stores of Pelourinho. Extra tip: though the market itself may not be what you're expecting take the opportunity to visit the marine located a few steps of it. The view is stunning and a good place for nice photos.

Farol da Barra Beach is a lively destination popular for swimming and sunbathing. It is home to the St. Anthony Fort and the historic Farol da Barra lighthouse, where Amerigo Vespucci arrived in 1501. The beach offers stunning views of All Saints Bay and the city, with amenities such as eateries, beach umbrellas, and loungers for rent.
My wife added this place to our list when we visited Salvador — and we’re glad she did. The lighthouse and old fortress are full of history, and there’s a great little surprise on the rooftop: a spot where you can enjoy tasty Brazilian food and drinks. If you go at the right time, the sunset view is absolutely unforgettable.

The Cathedral of Salvador, also known as the Cathedral Basilica of Salvador, is a stunning Mannerist-style cathedral built in the 17th century. Situated on the Terreiro de Jesus next to Praca da Se, it was originally part of a Jesuit monastic and educational complex. The facade is adorned with stone brought from Portugal, while the interior boasts beautiful Baroque decorations dating back to the 18th century.
Try and get a guide to take you through the Cathedral! We had a wonderful guide, Gilmar, he speaks Portuguese and French. The rich culture and historical background of the region is amazing and he can put the cathedral in the context of the local culture! Beautiful visit and worth the fee.

MAM - Museu de Arte Moderna da Bahia is a leading contemporary art space located in a picturesque waterside building, the Solar do Unhao. The museum features five exhibition rooms, an outdoor sculpture garden (Parque das Esculturas), and a movie theater, making it a vibrant cultural hub for artistic events of different languages.
The museum is currently displaying two amazing exhibits. Caminhos de ferro was amazing beautiful I loved it. Plus on Sunday the entrance is free

Love a free museum! We went on a Saturday and the only part open was downstairs. I’m not clear on whether we came back, other parts would be open. It was fun to see the art on display, but even more fun to see the workroom with art classes going on. Got a vegan brownie at the cafe outside and saw that there would be a samba festival that night at a stage that was being setup. Seems like a great hub of activities
Lo W — Google review
Disappointing, I would say. It's one small gallery, literally one room that exhibits at the moment some photógrafs, some garments and some pictures. Then there is one other room with the history (solo Portuguese). And one tiny chapel, that also exhibits some garments. The cafe is alright, the coffee is below average quality. It's free, but not worth a extra visit, I say. If you are in the area, have a look for 15min.
Valentin P — Google review
A small gallery, yet a powerful exhibition. I really enjoyed it and would definitely recommend

After checking the website, we decided to visit the museum. However when we arrived the main building was closed, because of setting up a new exposition. No mention of this at all. Igreja da Ordem Terceira Secular de São Francisco is a historical Catholic church known for its Baroque reliefs and renovated Neoclassical altars. Located in Pelourinho, it stands out amidst boutiques, artisan shops, cultural institutions, restaurants, and coffee shops. The original Carmelite church was built in the late 16th century but was later rebuilt after a fire.
The facade is one of the most ornate in Salvador. The interior is stunning as well. The church next door is more pompous (way more gold ornate) but this one holds its ground and is totally worth the visit!

The House and Chapel of the Former Quinta do Unhão, located in Salvador, is a historic site with a rich past. Originally a sugar mill, it has been transformed into a modern art museum and restaurant. The property includes an 18th-century manor house that once served as factories and warehouses before being refurbished by the Bahian state government. Visitors can enjoy fantastic bay views from the Museum of Modern Art, which is housed within the estate.
Super nice exhibitions with artists ateliers open for a visit. Super nice environment, kind staff, nice coffee shop with delicious goodies. We try the small pie of salted caramel. Amazing. It was one of the best places when visiting Salvador. And the view of Gamboa from there, also super nice! Highly recommended! 5 ⭐️

Unfortunately, this is a museum that could likely be skipped if you are pressed for time. However, it is free so if you are passing by I would think it is worth dropping into. The best thing is the view. There is no WiFi. Perhaps check the exhibitions prior to visiting to see if it is worth a visit for you.

It's a fabulous place that lacks professional assistance. The church, the main house and the patio are wonderful photo spots. I missed someone or some technological gig to tell the history and what was there to see. One should visit because it's a memory of slavery times in Salvador.

And last but not least, take care with your belongings, due to the community that will beg you some money to park your car.(don't believe them, there is a parking lot down the road)

No need to say that this is one of the most beautiful spots in Salvador. The sitio features a brand new - and small - charming cinema for art movies. The Chapel itself has been recently renewed and now counts with a fixed exhibition.

The Church and Convent of San Francisco, also known as the Golden Church, is an 18th-century Catholic church located in Salvador. Its exterior features intricate carvings, while the interior is covered in pure gold leaf, making it a stunning example of Portuguese Baroque architecture in the Americas. Legend has it that builders used a thousand kilos of gold powder for its construction.
Had visited this church this morning. It is located in the Historical Center of Salvador. Understand that a lot of gold was used for the interior decoration.

Very beautiful church, worth a visit. ⭐ No entrance fee. ⭐ Not crowded at all. ⭐ You are not allowed to take pictures once you are behind a certain barrier. But you are allowed to take pictures at the entrance. ⭐ Very grand and beautiful church.
B. N — Google review
this building is so so beautiful. The courtyard is covered in tiles that are donated by the portugese king in 1795 (according to my guide), and the inside is covered in gold. I cant even begin to describe it. There are so many statures and sculptures , its breaktaking. Theres also a cemetery of some sort where some ancient bones lay. I heard it also contains the living quarters for some reverened father. This place was really beautiful and its a must see if you ever are in Salvador

Gorgeous and interesting Church We stumbled across this during our walk around Pelourinho and what a gem it is. There were flowers laid down the aisle of the chapel so I assume there was soon to be a wedding there and it looked truly stunning. Walking around to can go into the Throne Room and Crypts followed by other rooms with information and artifacts. Just after the Crypts there was an outside area but we didn't venture out there as it seemed this was the reception area with the same flowers as the Chapel so likely for the wedding but it was gorgeous.

Igreja e convento de Sao Francisco De Asis is a highly recommended stop on your next visit to Pelourinho Salvador. It's stunning from the outside and lights up beautifully at night. The real beauty however is seen in the fine detailing and elaborate use of gold on the inside. The cost to enter is only R$5 / US$1( in March 2022 ), a price thats more than worth it. The pictures really don't do it justice. They don't provide tour guides so I would advise visiting as a part of a walking tour of pelourinho, to get details on the history. Definitely add it to your list of must do in salvador.

It is a baroque church, a masterpiece! The interior is breathtaking! Totally covered by with gold-colored wood, magnificent. While the cloister is completely covered with a cilco of white and blue mosaics that put in drawings of the judgments of Horace. Definitely worth the visit. The cost is 15 Brazilian Real, less than 3 dollars.

Great photo opportunity. Iconic Salvador scenery. Other reviewers have remarked that parking can be difficult but honestly, I never have that problem; I just pay a few reais to the attendant working nearby and go on with my day. There's normally someone leaving and I can snag their spot. (I also rarely if ever go on weekends). There's a bar where you can grab a drink, as well as a drink stand (they accept cash & Pix!) - I highly recommend grabbing a caldo de cana and watching the sunset from here.

Such a beauty place to visit but very packed with tourists at times. There is police everywhere as part of a special effort to open Salvador up to the international tourism scene. I would recommend visiting this neighborhood during the day and not eating in the main squares as everything overpriced and quality reduced. Such a photogenic place and a wonderful colorful atmosphere.

A spetacular cultural experience The ancient church of slaves in Salvador during the colonial period of Brazil. Here the masses are performed in a Catholic fashion but with a strong emphasis on music. Usually the traditional Catholic songs are played to African drums beat I came into the church when someone was being baptised and I could live a unique experience. Though I knew all the songs, the music was still full of incredibly energy. It was amazing to see old and young people all dancing and singing together to drums rhythm.

The Cultural Afro Brazilian Museum, located in Salvador, Bahia, Brazil, is a significant institution dedicated to showcasing the rich African-Brazilian culture and history. The museum boasts an impressive collection of traditional Brazilian handicrafts and historical artifacts such as wood carvings, hand-woven baskets, pottery, ceramics, and 27 enormous carved wooden panels by renowned artist Hector Julio Paride Bernabo.
A nice spot to visit where you can spend 1h time. The museum is organized. It is located in the Medical Faculty which is already a tourist atraction. There are marvellous carving of Caribé. There are no translation to English, use Google Translate. At the end you can start visiting Pelourinho, which is located in the proximity.

Some interesting pieces here and there, but most of it was not great. Even though it was free today, I would not recommend it to others. There is no clear order for walking around. The audio tour made no sense order wise and a lot of the time it was just describing what you see. There is a lot of nonsensical art trying to be deep. I'm sure this can be a nice museum, it just wasn't today.

Many powerful pieces that speak volumes without understanding the Portuguese descriptions. Some are just beautiful and others self evident. I do wish I had an explanation for the work on the top floor but nonetheless each piece is an amazing work of art.

(Translated by Google) Praça da Sé is a public space that emerged in the 1930s. The old Primatial Cathedral, which gives the square its name, was demolished in August 1933, along with two other blocks of buildings in the Historic Center, after years of debate and considerable controversy. The demolition took place at a time (the early 20th century) when downtown Salvador was undergoing extensive urban development, and the purpose of destroying the colonial buildings was to make way for the tram tracks of the Bahia Circular Railway Company. The space created by the demolition gave rise to Praça da Sé, which now houses the trams and the Belvedere da Sé, leisure, cultural, and tourism facilities overlooking All Saints Bay.

It is located in small bit of land off the coast in the Baía de Todos os Santos. Standing on a small bank of reefs about 300 metres (980 ft) from the coast, it is one of two forts separated by water from land in Brazil, the other being the Fort Tamandaré da Laje Tamandaré in Rio de Janeiro. It is the only cylindrical fort in Brazil. Its design follows those of Castel Sant'Angelo in Italy and São Lourenço do Bugio Fort in Portugal. It is popularly known as the "Forte do Mar" (Fort of the Sea). The museum is really well kept and in great condition. The video clips are informative and are offered in English as well which is useful if you can't understand Portuguese. Because the videos are long, it would be good if they had benches so people can sit and watch, we ended sitting on the floor. Also, the music in the museum is too loud considering you have to listen to a video. My data wasn’t working well inside and there was no wifi, which can be fixed. The sound on some of the videos would drop here and there, not sure if it is because of the data connection.

A Museum with great potential, unfortunately it falls short of expectations due to not having anything translated to other languages or even subtitles in Portuguese, which would help given most of the content is audiovisual and in a noisy environment its hard to understand sometimes even for natives. Also sad they exaggerate with the AC and freeze you until you just want to leave.

Isabel S — Google review
Overall very good and interesting, but the 1st floor is all concrete and with a lot of different booths for different neighborhoods creating a lot of sound at the same time, it is difficult to hear the music at the one you are listening to. Better to use the small enclosed booths with benches for comfort and listening experience. The museum uses a cell phone web site to control what music videos you see, and sometimes the system doesn't work properly.

The Afro-Brazilian Museum UFBA, located in Pelourinho inside the University, offers a captivating exploration of the history and cultural influence of Africans in Bahia. The museum's extensive collection includes photographs and artifacts that shed light on the impact of the slave trade and the development of Brazilian culture. Visitors can gain valuable insights into the ethnic and racial origins of Brazil while exploring this enriching space.
Amazing Carybé exposition! The education team has a lot of knowledge and are really sweet. They are also bilingual which really helps!

This is a rather small history of African culture....has virtually nothing to do with the Brazilian experience, slavery etc. A lot of descriptions alcan only be seen with black light and are almost impossible to read. Very unfriendly trans person at reception.

It is a a tiny museum with very little history or display on issues like slave trade, uprisings or freedom. There are some beautiful murals of the orishàs, with little explanation. Staff did not demonstrate much interest. There is so much more they can do to make this an excellent museum.

Really small museum - only two rooms. Has some nice artifacts but not a lot of information (would not recommend for foreign tourists as all info is in portuguese). Entry is 10reis in cash only.

The Carybé panels are amazing.

I dont think this should be called an Afro-Brazilian museum. It has no mention of slavery, afrobrasilian culture (besides religious relics), afrobrasilian social and political movements, famous black individuals, etc. Very disappointing in the city with more Afro-Brazilians than anywhere else. The museum should be renamed, closed or completely redone.

Origins of this institution we're discussed as early as 1946. Located in the 1970s in this central historical district of Pelorinho, it's currently housed in a majestic facility used by Federal University of Bahia. The museum itself is small not taking long to visit. Very rich worthwhile display with English text available.

The Basílica do Senhor do Bonfim, an impressive 18th-century church situated on Sacred Hill, is a significant stop on Bahia's religious tourism route. Each year, the renowned Lavagem do Bonfim ceremony unites Catholics and Candomblé practitioners in devotion. The neoclassical interior showcases remarkable works of art such as Francisco Velasco's ceiling panel and Jose Rufino Capinam's paintings at the entrance.
The Basilica do Senhor do Bonfim is a beautiful and culturally significant church worth visiting. However, the experience can be somewhat diminished by persistent sellers and Baianas asking for money if you take their picture. While the architecture and atmosphere are impressive, be prepared for these interruptions during your visit.

It is the most famous of the Catholic churches of Salvador, in the State of Bahia, Brazil. It was built in the 18th century. A must see during your visit to Salvador. A beautiful cathedral that captures the heart and soul of one of the oldest cities established in the new world. It’s local custom to tie ribbons at the gate in front of the church and say a prayer to the Holy Savior of the Bay of all Saints. Inside the cathedral and deep rooted in the Afro-Brazillian Candomblé traditions and the Catholic Ex-Voto, the afflicted offer wax casts in body parts to Saints as thanks or hope of healing them.

The church is beautiful and full with the visitors but should be careful about the guy at the parking lot along the street they are asking for 20 reais for every car.

Beautiful church carrying a lot of history. There was service when we arrived and it was crowded but we found seats and could enjoy the amazing interior of the church whilst praying. Be aware about parking and souvenir prices, street vendors try to make money on unadvised tourists.

Beautiful stadium. The view to the field is amazing from every angle, regardless of whether you are at pitch level or very high up. Nice "happy hour" before the match, with live music and many food trucks. Only downside is the labyrinth path from parking lot to stadium - it doesn't make sense - but not enough to take away a star.

Went to watch Bahia vs Corthians. Good game, but the place was kind of a mess. Not less than I was expecting though, spilled drinks every once in a while, long waits during intermissions. Nothing out of place for a sports arena. Seats were small but we hardly sat anyway. Everyone just moved towards the edge of the viewing area. Prices were great, especially compared to the US. It's great that going to a game fits in most people's pockets here, and is a great way to spend a day. I recommend going, even if only just once if you're not a sports fan like me.

Nestled in the lively neighborhood of Rio Vermelho, Casa do Rio Vermelho stands as a tribute to the literary genius of Jorge Amado and his wife Zélia Gattai. This former home, now transformed into a captivating museum, offers an intimate look at their lives over four decades. Visitors can wander through personal spaces like their traditional Bahian kitchen and extensive library, surrounded by an impressive collection of art that reflects their deep ties to Bahian culture.
An extraordinary experience for whoever has interest in Jorge Amado, a pilar in Brazilian literature. This was the house where he spent his last years with his dear partner in life, Zelia Gattai. They “adopted” the house in 1973 and had it beautifully re-engineered to meet their desire for a comfortable home but foremost a location to meet and greet the wide community of artists in Salvador. So that, for to a quarter century, this house was the epicenter of the Salvador community of intellectuals and artists. As you enter the property, you are immediately taken by the charm of the abundant vegetation co-existing with the house itself and how one has mutually blended with the other. You will be visiting one room after the other, each filled with intriguing memories and illustrations of the period. The living room features Amado’s typewriter. This was the room feeding his inspiration. Cooled with the shade of the generous vegetation above the house, it also brought the carpal cropping of toads outside at night. You are then brought to the kitchen, the dressing room, and many others rooms, each filled with touching illustrations of this fruitful period that has marked the Brazilian cultural heritage. An awesome experience which stands very high in list of locations of interest in Salvador!

The location is beautiful, with a colonial mansion on front and a modern wing added at the bag. The expositions in the wing were multimedia, very well installed and interesting. Unfortunately, mist of the rooms in the mansion were under renovation and only saw two cute showings. There is a nice looking cafe in between both buildings, but I did not try it. Beautiful museum with a great guide From all of the museums that I visited in Salvador, The Misericordia Museum was the most well-kept. It was by far the cleanest and most organized. Although, what really made the difference in the place was the museum guide, Licia. She was a loveable person and an excellent professional. Its collection portrays the history of a bourgeois family from Salvador, allowing us to better understand Bahian society at the time, its values, and identities. The artifacts on display perfectly fulfill the museum's mission: to inform, educate, and preserve memory. Highlights include the beautiful collection of balangandãs (the famous Creole jewelry), which impress with their cultural richness, and the ceramic pieces, both Western and Eastern, which were popular during the period and reveal the sophistication of cultural exchanges. It's a museum that surprises with its beauty and careful preservation of history, making it a space well worth a visit. Churches & Cathedrals
Igreja da Ordem Terceira do Carmo de Salvador, located in Pelourinho, is a majestic Catholic church with a rich history. Dating back to 1644, the church boasts an ornate interior with stunning ceiling frescoes and an annex. Originally a Carmelite convent, it served as a shelter during wars due to its fortified walls. The church also houses a museum showcasing the wealth of both the church and Brazil at the time.
One of the oldest historical church in Salvador Pelourinho we visited once it’s was prayer’s time so we couldn’t explore more do to crowd. But was nice to visit. This should be go in your must visit place. We love to go again.

The main gate is always closed so one may get the wrong impression. The entrance to the church is through a side door on the left! The church itself is amazing! The combination of the turquoise walls juxtaposed with many gold plated baroque decorative elements, is unique! A must see!!!

Nice place to chill out. Interesting photography museum (the photographer who created old photography history) here in Salvador Bahia. Must visit to see he’s art.

very interesting exposition. The location is small, but it is worth visiting, also because the entry counts for Carybe museum as well. The service is very good and the surrounding area is super lively. Forte de Santa Maria is beautiful too and a good photo spot

Nestled just before the iconic Barra Lighthouse, the Carybé Arts Space at São Diogo Fort is a captivating destination that beautifully marries history and culture. This 17th-century fortress has been thoughtfully restored to house an interactive digital art gallery showcasing the works of Carybé, who draws inspiration from Bahian culture and Candomblé's rich iconography. Visitors can enjoy breathtaking views of the bay while exploring historical artifacts like ancient cannons.
Delightful place to acquire some beautiful knowledge regarding Carybé's life activities and work. Amazing place, come to enjoy it all.

It's basically just one digital screen to look at the works of the artist in mention. The digital screens are a bit slow and almost all of them have defects in different functions. The staff are not great energy. Waste of time and money. You could just Google the works instead

The Fort itself is nothing special. Been recently refurbished and now has a small art exhibition (Carybé). Free to visit the building but not the art. View to the sea is great.

Safe, lots of guards and police around. Paid parking close to the nearby marina. Good view towards Itaparica Island and the other Santa Maria Fort. The museum is of carybe, with interactive media stuff. They have VR headset and a Kinect to let you control a puppet. Cool, but limited. Not in English!

The Baianas do Acaraje Museum is a memorial to the historic role of women in Bahia, with colorful dresses and traditional crafts on display. The museum is especially dedicated to telling the history and honoring Baianas do Acaraje, or "Women of the Acaraje.
A perfect intermission to the Sao Joao festivities. Despite it being a smaller space, it’s big on cultural history. Both the hostess and the guide were extremely pleasant and accommodating. The tour was in Portuguese, but the guide was patient and spoke into my translator. The tour was very informative, and strongly recommended.
Shirell B — Google review
It’s a very small museum — really just one main room with a small library and a tiny shop where you can buy artifacts. I honestly wish it were bigger, because the history and people it celebrates deserve a larger space. That said, it’s still worth the visit. Entry is just R$5, and the museum has been recently renovated. Hopefully, this is just the beginning of something bigger. One thing to note: there are no translations in English or Spanish, which can make it difficult for international visitors to fully appreciate the exhibits.

Nestled in the charming seaside neighborhood of Itapuã, CASA Di VINA Hotel & Restaurante is a delightful retreat housed in a historic residence that once belonged to the renowned Brazilian poet Vinicius de Moraes. This bright and inviting hotel offers guests an enchanting experience with its chic restaurant and two refreshing outdoor pools, perfect for unwinding after a day at the nearby beach.
I spent my Thanksgiving break in Salvador, BR. My friend and I decided to stay at the Casa Di Vina Hotel for the duration of our trip and we LOVED it !!! The staff are all very friendly and helpful (a couple spoke English, which was very helpful as my Portuguese is beginner proficiency lol), the pools and rooms were clean and beautiful, and I love that to enter the hotel you must be buzzed in by security or the reception as there is a gate that surrounds the property. Very safe!! The beach is a two minute walk away from the hotel (if even that) and there are many surrounding beach bars, restaurants, food carts, other hotels, for lunch/dinner options. The Hotel even had live jazz music and vendors on Saturday evening. I would highly recommend booking here !!!

Beautiful hotel with a lot of history.. Across the road from the beach and Atlantic ocean.. Large clean rooms with well stocked fridge.. Restaurant was amazing.. Breakfast also really good with a wide variety of food..
A M — Google review
Unfortunately, our stay at Casa Di Vina was very different from what we expected. The room is spacious, but it urgently needs improvements. As soon as we entered, we noticed a strong smell of mold and even found spiders and ants. The cleanliness left much to be desired. Noise was another major issue. The hotel is extremely loud, and the rooms have no soundproofing. We could hear footsteps from the room next to ours and, at night, the noise from the restaurant and people talking and drinking made it impossible to rest. Breakfast was also disappointing. The service felt selective, and when we arrived around 9 a.m. (breakfast is served until 10), the staff treated us poorly because they were already trying to prepare the restaurant for lunch. They even tried to push guests toward tables by the pool. When we refused, the atmosphere turned hostile, which made the experience very uncomfortable. Another unpleasant aspect was the behavior of some male employees, who stared in an invasive way, making the environment feel unwelcoming. On top of that, the hotel was under construction, with no prior notice. There was dust and noise in the mornings, and staff would even sweep the restaurant while guests were still having breakfast, as if to hurry us out. To make matters worse, room service was unsatisfactory: meals arrived without plates, cutlery, or drinks. In the end, what was supposed to be a pleasant stay in Salvador turned into a frustrating and exhausting experience.
Rosana C — Google review
One of the front desk staff was rude while I was checking out. I went up to him and he asked me why I was coming to him when the person next to him was free. The restaurant has great food and the room was very clean. It is a bit far from the main attractions and restaurants.
Mato S — Google review
Unfortunately very inflexible. We arrived one day later because our flight was cancelled, but we had to pay the unused night anyway. We offered to stay one more night but we had to pay the unused anyway. A good hotel would be more accommodating.
Daniel M — Google review
We strongly recommend the restaurant. It is is really a divine food and taste.
Sandro P — Google review
My family and I stayed at this hotel for 3 nights and had a very pleasant time. Easy access to the beach, the beach is a little bit rocky, but our children enjoyed spending time in the natural pool that appears at low tide. At high tide we spent our time at the hotel pool which was clean and comfortable. Our room was large enough for our family of four and the linens and towels were clean. One problem was that the air conditioner in the bedroom was so loud that we could not use it at night. However, we were able to sleep fine with the air conditioner on in the other room. Breakfast was a great selection and we looked forward to eating it every morning. In particular, the tapioca made in front of us was excellent. All the staff at the hotel and restaurant were friendly. Lastly, we are very grateful to the front desk staff, Juvan, who was willing to accommodate our request for a late check-out since our flight was in the evening.

My third stay at Casa Da Vina. The restaurant is the best in the area!!! Breakfast is lovely, lunch/dinner menus are vast! DON’T miss out on their amazing pizzas!! The staff is fluent in English and eager to help with local spots for dining, tourism and just “beach”. *handy to have a car in this area if you plan on getting around on your own.

(Translated by Google) The place had everything it needed to be good, but it is poorly maintained. The room I stayed in shouldn't even be suitable for guests. It is very damp (it seems to have water leaks in all the walls). The musty smell makes anyone sick. The bed linens had small stains that looked like blood. The bathroom had a sink that leaked water. There were lots of mosquitoes. It is next to the garage, where the doorbell rings 24 hours a day and the gate has to be slammed shut. It is impossible to get a good night's sleep. The staff also talked after 10 pm. On the first day, we came in from the street desperate for a shower and there was no water. The staff didn't even notice to let us know. I had to leave in the middle of my shower because the water ran out. The staff is polite and helpful, but I believe that this alone is not enough to make this place at least acceptable. It needs to improve a lot to be bad. I have always stayed in hostels and did not expect any 5-star hotel service, but cleanliness and maintenance are basic things in any place, especially in the middle of a pandemic. The only positive point is the location and breakfast.

(Translated by Google) I like this accommodation, I had stayed there before in 2017. I just think it should have more quality items, for emergencies. For example, soap, toothpaste. There is a horrible soap that doesn't even foam. I had to wash myself with it, and go out to buy another one and other hygiene items. The noise is also absurd! I woke up several times in the middle of the night because the guests talk really loudly in the lounge. And in the morning there was a lot of construction noise. Other than that, the accommodation is nice and the location is great.

(Translated by Google) There are both negative and positive points. I'll start with the positives: the breakfast is simple but very good. I don't remember the name, but congratulations to the lady who makes delicious tapioca, the best I've ever had. It's an AMAZING location, close to the beach, bars, restaurants, shopping, banks, and everything you need. The rooms are very clean and the service is excellent. Now for the negatives: tips for improvement! The Wi-Fi in the room didn't work, the pool was dirty and impossible to get into, and the room we stayed in was very small, as we've also seen much larger double rooms; they could be more specific. The reception wasn't very pleasant, as they didn't teach us anything, for example, how to turn on the air conditioning. I called a few days in advance to ask about what was provided and was told that soap, shampoo, and conditioner were included in the reservation, but upon arrival, we didn't see any of these. We loved the hostel and would return. These are just suggestions of areas that could be improved to earn a 5-star rating. (Original) Tem pontos negativos e pontos positivos.

(Translated by Google) Its history is very important. It was simply the first church in Salvador-Ba, built by the Jesuits led by Father Manoel da Nobrega, around 1551, just 2 years after the arrival of Tomé de Souza, the governor general. In the neo-Manoelino style, a Portuguese baroque church has an image of Nessa Senhorada Ajuda, which was the name of one of the ships in Tomé de Souza's fleet, to which the image belonged. Many important priests were parish priests there, due to the importance it represented for the city. It still has the pulpit, where Father Manoel da Nóbrega gave his speeches. With the construction of other churches, it was neglected for a time and fell into ruins. It was then rebuilt in 1912 to accommodate the tram that ran from Campo Grande to Praça da Sé, when they had to reduce it and remove a tower. It was later renovated again in 1923 and continues to this day. This almost 500-year-old history is very interesting.
