This is a really fascinating place. An absolute must visit. The AI description here is very accurate. The palace looks bland and uninteresting from outside but inside it’s an absolute delight. The interiors are incredible, especially the murals and ceilings, as are most of the exhibits. The entry price - 5 rupees - is ridiculously low. It should be increased significantly for foreigners. We spent a happy hour here and could have spent more. This was the first old palace of mattanchery built by the Dutch. It's a relatively small palace but it's very detailed and has some of the best old maps of Cochin. There's a lot of enthnography of the royals and the way they lived. I loved reading about the history. I was looking forward to the murals but they are faded and hard to see. I enjoyed the architecture and the maps more. I was surprised to see that there isn't a single toilet within the palace. I guess the kings and queens did their business in the outside like everyone else at the time.

One of the most popular beaches in Kochi. Nice to watch the sunset, you can see the fishermen bringing in their catch, maybe you can even buy right there. Only downside was the smell, maybe we were in the wrong time but there was unpleasant smell.

KERALA FOLKLORE MUSEUM Visited this museum while on a trip to Kochi. We were staying at the Keys Lemon Tree Hotel and this museum was just 100 metres away from the hotel. The museum is curated and managed by Mr.George J Thaliath and his family. A very large collection of artifacts from various parts of the country and the world are on display. There is shortage of space because of the sheer number of items. Hence, detailed description of each item is not available. Still, it is a feast for the eyes of people who are interested in antiques and artifacts of various types. There is an entrance fee of Rs 200 per person. If you wish to take photographs, even on a mobile, there is an additional fee of Rs 100. Footwear is not permitted inside the museum. You need to keep them outside in the rack provided. We could see many visitors including those from overseas coming there to visit the museum.

One full day is not sufficient to view all the artifacts preserved here. The collection is so huge. The museum which is a private property is well maintained, beautiful and gives very good vibes. The only con is the Rs 200 per head, which is quite pricey.

Hill Palace Museum, Thripunithura We visited the Hill Palace Museum last Sunday afternoon and had a wonderful experience. The museum is open on weekends from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM and 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM. Tickets are available at the entrance — ₹50 per adult, and parking costs ₹30. Before entering, visitors are required to leave their footwear outside. The museum was once the royal palace of the Cochin royal family, and it beautifully preserves the grandeur of that era. Inside, you’ll find an impressive collection of royal artifacts including chariots, weapons, furniture, crowns, and ornaments. There are also informative displays that provide deep insights into the history of Kochi and how it evolved into one of Kerala’s major cities. A highlight of our visit was the corridor leading to a serene pond behind the palace — walking through it felt like stepping back in time. However, it was disheartening to see some visitors vandalizing the walls. Please be respectful and report any such behavior to the authorities. After the pond, there’s a deer park where you can observe deer up close. While some say not to feed them, it appears they are raised in a farm-like environment and are quite friendly, often approaching the fence. We ended our visit with a peaceful walk back to the parking area under the shade of tall trees. It was a lovely way to spend the evening. Highly recommended if you're in the area or visiting Thripunithura!

I have visited many museums in India across states. This one ranks amongst the very best. Though not grandeur, it is beautifully maintained. Not only the interiors but the garden area, fountains and pond. There is a guide at each section to explain about the artefacts, history of the museum and they can speak English and Malayalam. The exhibits are well maintained. There is also a kiosk at each section which has an Audio Visual explaining about the exhibits of the section in English. Braille language is also available. For the price, it is an excellent piece of history that is highly recommended to visit.

The round garbhagriha is covered with intricate wood carvings on the outside, and a copper roof on top, both features are rare in the majority of the country. What struck me first was the architecture. The nalukettu design, with its central courtyard, sloping tiled roofs, and beautifully carved woodwork, has a charm that no modern building can match. You can almost picture the Achans walking through those corridors, discussing matters of state with the kings of Kochi. The palace has a unique story even in recent times. It was a private property until 2014, when the Government of Kerala took it over and began preserving it as a heritage museum. Then came the 2018 floods—the palace was submerged in water, and the damage was heartbreaking. Standing there, knowing that the same rooms I was in had once been filled with floodwaters, gave me a strange mix of sadness and respect. I had the wonderful opportunity to visit Paliyam Palace in North Paravoor, and it was a truly enriching experience. If you're someone who enjoys culture, heritage, and architecture, this place is a must-visit gem tucked away in Kerala. The ticket was quite reasonable — just ₹160 for 3 people, which gives access to both the main palace and the nalukettu (traditional quadrangle-style ancestral home). Upon entry, we were shown a short video presentation, which helped us understand the historical importance of the Paliyam family, their connection to the Cochin royal family, and their influential role in Kerala's political and cultural landscape. This context really helped us appreciate everything we saw inside. Photography is not allowed inside the palace, which actually adds to the sanctity and quietness of the environment. The place feels very serene and steeped in history, as if time slows down once you walk through the gates. One fascinating part of the palace is the Sapramanchakattil — a special cot made entirely of medicinal woods, used by the palace members for their health and well-being. It’s a rare and thoughtful aspect of traditional living that shows how wellness was woven into everyday life. The architecture of the palace is truly remarkable – intricately carved wooden ceilings, traditional tiled roofs, and unique design elements that reflect the craftsmanship of a bygone era. We even saw a specially designed toilet structure placed outside the main palace, which was fascinating in terms of ancient hygiene planning. There’s also a photo gallery featuring portraits and historical moments of key Paliyam family members, which gives a face and personality to the names we hear in Kerala’s history. Overall, Paliyam Palace is a quiet yet powerful place to experience Kerala’s aristocratic heritage, and a perfect spot for a half-day cultural trip if you're in or around North Paravoor. I highly recommend it to history buffs, students, and anyone looking to explore Kerala beyond its beaches and backwaters.

I visited here on a week day so it wasn't busy. The palace, now a museum is very well maintained, magnificent. A mix of Dutch and Kerelan architecture within. Some lovely ancient artifacts. They had different guides to explain on every floor and this service was included in the entry fee. I have not had this experience for example even in the Cairo museum in Egypt or the largest Indian museum in Kolkata. That being said, they didn't permit to take any photos for some reason. Outdoor photography was permitted wherein I could take pictures of the ancient toilet and urinal which has been shifted outdoors. A nice experience if in these parts, recommended.

Visited a cotton exhibition at the stadium. Lots of vendors coming from across India selling their mostly handmade goods. Clothes, jewellery, bags, accessories, art and food. Competitive pricing, of course, slightly cheaper than your bric and mortar shops. Beautiful selection and variety. Clothes stalls are more. Bought kerala mundu (traditional sarong for men), Beautiful hand block print, vegetable dyed sarees, kurta tops. Worth a visit if you are looking for some gift items.

Jawaharlal Nehru International Stadium is a football stadium located in Kochi, Ernakulam. It is the Home ground of Kerala Blasters. The Stadium offers a huge seating capacity of nearly 80,000. The Accessibility of the stadium by the Kochi Metro makes it even more convenient. The metro has a stop in the same name itself as 'JLN Stadium'. The infrastructure is poorly maintained. Seating is average. Toilets are below average. Sufficient Parking space is available for the vehicles. There are also many shops including tea shops to government offices like Norka located in the stadium round itself. Inshort it is a good spot. Even the road that leads to the stadium from the metro station is also excellent with trees shade and natural environment.

Home stadium of Indian super league side Kerala Blasters. The stadium is owned and maintained by Kerala cricket association. The stadium has an electrifying atmosphere for their home matches. But sad to say the stadium is poorly maintained. We booked tickets for the isl match and the seat we got was broken. We had to watch the match sitting uncomfortably on the broken chair. Football pitch is very far from the stance as it was meant to be used as a cricket stadium.

Well, I’ve crossed oceans, dodged Indian customs, and found the Holy Grail of shopping but apparently, the real adventure is finding parking at Lulu Mall. This colossal temple of consumerism rises out of Kochi like a mirage with air conditioning. Inside, it’s less “Mystic India” and more “Midwestern USA,” just with better samosas. Now, here’s the cultural plot twist: outside these marble gates, most folks still dress with the dignified modesty of Hindu tradition: saris, kurtas, the whole beautiful ensemble. But step inside Lulu, and suddenly you’re in a Calvin Klein ad. Every storefront screams Western fashion, Levi’s, Zara, H&M as if the British left and sent their brands to finish the job. Still, as malls go, Lulu is impressive, just not exactly adventurous. You don’t need a map or a whip, just a credit card and stamina. Three stars for scale, cleanliness, and surviving the modern world’s greatest test of courage: weekend shopping.

Lulu Mall in Kochi @ Edapally is one of the biggest mall with 3 floor. Place to roam, shop, Purchase and time pass. It is well connected with metro and the mall is almost just beneath the metro station or in other words Metro Train passes through Lulu Mall as one even need not come out of the station. One can make entry into mall just after the electronic gate exit. A special separate passage is facilitated to reach the mall from metro station. Plenty of branded shops of all items including food court on 3rd Floor. Main high light is the Hypermarket where one can get all house hold items including raw meat to Ready to eat cooked food items right from Beef Briyani / Malabar Briyani / Hyderabadi Briyani to varieties of Dry and Gravy chicken / Mutton items. Non vegetarian recipes too available. It is a boon to Foodies. Take away facility available. Parking facilities available.

A historical Synogogue located in Ernakulam district of Kerala near the bank of Periyar. It's a Jewish place of worship where people go to pray and study their religion. The records of Hebrew tells that it is the final resting place of 'Sarah the daughter of Israel". Also it's popular and attractive for visitors such as the ' Kerala Jews lifestyle Musium'. Good architecture work mixed with kerala and western technology. An Altars is very attractive and an example of complex artwork. The staircase is made of wood and spiral railing in shape and a balcony there has beautiful carved railing. There is a temple and a mosque near by. It's clear example of religious tolerance of people in the area as they live here in complexion harmony. A historical monument, now operating under the Archeological survey of India.

We traveled by auto, which was convenient going in, but quite tricky on the return journey. No Uber autos were available from the area, and the roads are quite narrow. Thankfully, a kind local helped us arrange an auto through their acquaintance. There’s a bus stop a short walk away, but since we went on a Sunday, public transport was quite limited. Entry was very affordable—₹40 for three people. While the structure is stunning, it does feel somewhat neglected by the authorities. It’s a part of Kerala’s rich multicultural past, and preserving places like this is essential for future generations to understand our shared history. Worth a visit if you're interested in culture, heritage, and quiet reflection—but plan your transport in advance!

There is a very small museum of the same and has a Jewish Cemetery in the nearby area. This is a historic place in terms of religious heritage in India. I have visited this place for an office meet-up. The place is warm, and the staff are also nice, except for the boy who is in charge of the swimming pool. I had a buffet lunch, and it wasn't bad. I had read reviews that were not positive, but the day I visited, it was fine. I don't know what the rooms are like, but the common washrooms need to be kept clean.

I stayed at Bolgatty Palace Resort for a day and overall, it was a pleasant experience. The property itself feels fabulous, thanks to its beautiful surroundings and peaceful atmosphere. Spread across several acres with a golf course, a nice swimming pool, and a kids’ park, the place is ideal for a relaxed getaway. For the price of around ₹3,000, I found the room facilities quite good, especially when you consider the entire experience. It's definitely worth it for the serene ambiance and the unique island feel. However, the breakfast was a bit of a letdown. It was quite limited in variety and not really worth the ₹600 they charge. If you're looking to experience a peaceful island stay with scenic views, Bolgatty Palace Resort is worth considering — just don’t expect too much from the breakfast.

I had a wonderful stay at Bolgatty Palace Resort. The rooms are spacious, clean, and give a warm, comfortable feeling throughout the stay. The palace is beautifully surrounded by the serene lake, offering a truly scenic and peaceful view. It’s a perfect place to relax and enjoy nature while experiencing a touch of heritage charm.

They seems to be attending guest for the sake of attending 4. SPA is failure (Service and staff attitute) 5. There is no guest manager to attend to client concern 6. Restaurant is just okay. You see lots of fly's around the food. IT just like a canteen and not restaurant of such a historic building. 7. Security is very unprofessional, it seems they are trying to be friend with guest without proper training as a result they end up asking ...you from Andra or Chennai. It seems they know only these 2 states! Overall an average service.

The stay at this resort was deeply disappointing. From the moment we arrived, the staff seemed uninterested and unmotivated to assist. Room was very small for a sum of 5300. Furniture was old with paints falling off. Washrooms were small. Toiletries were of poor quality. Pool was'nt functional. On probing, they told, it has broken tiles and that few guests got injured in the morning. Kindly enter at your own risk. It will be repaired by tomorrow morning. I dont think it will be repaired in near future. I think they have been making these excuses for months. Didnt see a single person around the pool. Just one small kids area. Nothing else to do for adults. Location is excellent but our experience was bad because of unprofessional conduct and lackadaisical attitude of the staff. Overall, the resort’s glossy online photos are misleading, and it fails to offer even a fraction of the comfort or service promised. I would strongly advise choosing a different property.

BOLGHATTY PALACE RESORT KOCHI. The Bolghatty Palace was constructed in 1744 by the Dutch traders who came to Kerala for trade. It is the oldest palace of its kind that exists outside Holland. The building was the Governor's palace for the commander of Dutch Malabar, and in 1909, was leased to the British. In 1947, when India attained independence, the palace became the property of the state and was converted into a heritage hotel resort. The resort has a nine-hole golf course. The palace is still maintained as a heritage site. Residents can go in to see the rooms. The resort is built around it. The view is wonderful. You can see the backwaters, the marina, Cochin Shipyard and the port. Gardens are well-maintained. Rooms are furnished in the traditional style with furniture resembling antique furniture. However, maintenance of the rooms and furniture is not up to the mark as the coffee table paint is peeling off, and the wardrobe doors do not close properly. They have stopped serving water in plastic bottles. Purified water in sealed glass bottles are kept in the rooms. When you check in, a driver will drop you in a buggy to your rooms. Service is slow. That is expected of a hotel run by the government. We really enjoyed the ambience and the natural beauty of the resort and its surroundings.

Visited Kottappuram Fort (Kotta) recently on an all-ladies office trip, and it was a refreshing experience! The fort is just 2–3 km from Kottappuram Junction, so it’s much more convenient if you go by your own vehicle, though you can hire an auto if needed. Entry tickets were just ₹10 per person—totally worth it. The place felt very safe and peaceful, perfect for a relaxed outing. The highlight was definitely the stunning river view—it’s calming and scenic, a great spot to unwind and click pictures. Historically, Kottappuram Fort (also known as Cranganore Fort) was built by the Portuguese in 1523 and later captured and modified by the Dutch. It played a major role in controlling access to the Periyar River and was once part of the old Muziris port region—one of the oldest trade centers in India. A great blend of history and nature—highly recommend for a short, serene getaway!

One of the best place to spent the evening. The place is neat, clean and full of greenery. One should definitely visit here in the evening to enjoy the place at its fullest. There is also remains of the fort as well a burial body of a Dutch person in showcase. The parking facility os not that good but there is free toilet facility available in here.

There’s a KFC in the food court, though the food court itself is quite basic. McDonald’s ice cream counter is on the ground floor. The movie theatre gets busy at night. If you have time, it’s worth a quick visit — and Mandi restaurants are just a short drive away (1 km)

Oberon Mall is a great place for shopping, dining and relaxing. It’s not too crowded, which makes the overall experience very comfortable. The mall has a good mix of stores, food outlets and a PVR cinema. Also the location is convenient with easy parking.

It's an elevation or bridge created to enjoy tue view of the waterbody. Best to visit in the evening during sunset. We visited in late afternoon but could enjoy the view of the water. It's said by the locals that the bridge gets lighted up post sunset till night, and the view is worth noting. Time required 20 minutes. Good to click pictures. I feel both evening and night views are worth experiencing.

The Rainbow Hanging Bridge 🌉 on Marine Drive is an absolute gem ✨. We dedicated our evening there and the sunset view was simply incredible 😍🌅✨. The sky turning orange, pink, and purple over the backwaters 🌅✨ was spectacular 😍. It's a peaceful spot for a walk 🚶‍♀️ and great for photos 📸. Special mention to Nurse Sherin - her dedication, kindness, and attentiveness were truly remarkable. This 38 ward nurse care made a significant difference during my stay. The facilities and overall hospital environment were good, but it was the human touch from the nursing staff that stood out. I, recently, needed to visit Lourdes hospital and had an excellent experience. Hospital visits are almost never for a good reason and are therefore unpleasant. This time, on the other hand, it was as close to being good as it could be. The new parking facility allowed for patient drop off and nearby parking very easily such that the entrance was only a few steps away. The operations staff are always at hand, ready to help with a smile. Despite an extremely busy facility they provide help with all logistical aspects making for a seamless experience. The doctors and their staff are excellent, sensitive to the patient's needs, inspiring confidence, taking time to explain to the patient as well as answering their questions. The administration processes are efficient and patient friendly, all the way from admissions to insurance, avoiding unnecessary delays and ensuring the patient and their family's needs are facilitated. The rooms are adequate, spacious, and comfortable. Cleanliness and upkeep is very good throughout - bathrooms, rooms, corridors, staircases, etc. The nursing staff are who the patient and their family have the most contact with and we have nothing but praise. They are responsive, kind, and efficient. Always smiling, they are professional yet put the patient at ease. Throughout our stay, they were a button press away and ensured we were comfortable throughout, helping with discharge, scheduling follow ups, explaining medication, etc. Overall we highly recommend Lourdes. It might not be as shiny as some of the newer alternatives, but the staff and their attitude and competence are excellent.

Even though the doctors are good but sometimes I feel like they are more business minded than patient satisfaction. They tried maximum to delay the discharge to an extent they could and even did that by saying "we will give discharge but it will be at your risk". This experience was specific to the nicu experience.

I had a very bad experience at Lissie Hospital emergency care last week. I went with my husband and brother as I had fever, but there was no proper care or concern for patients. There were no chairs or seating arrangements while waiting, and no beds available. When I asked the nurse how long I would need to wait, the only response was “we don’t know, please wait.” It felt very unorganized and insensitive for an emergency department. Strangely, the hospital seems strict and well-managed with parking rules, but not with patient care inside the emergency. Very disappointing experience.

Lisie Hospital is one of the oldest and most reputed hospitals in the Ernakulam area. Visited today with my brother’s son — since it was early in the morning, there wasn’t much crowd, and we were done within an hour. Overall, a good experience.

I am writing to express my extreme dissatisfaction with the service received as a patient bystander at your hospital on [Date]. I arrived at 2 o'clock with a patient who was in urgent need of treatment, but no treatment was provided. I was informed that treatment could only be given once a room became available. I had waited about 8 hours, and I was told that I would have to wait for a patient to be discharged. However, after that time, I did not get any room. At that point, no treatment was given. After waiting 9 hours, a nurse came and checked and told me that the oxygen level was low, but I did not see any action taken for the low oxygen. When I inquired about that, they told me I had to admit the patient in the casualty department, which required a ₹3000 admission fee. The billing staff member delivered this news with an inappropriate smile. Upon attempting to transport the patient to casualty, I found no staff available to assist with a wheelchair and had to take on this responsibility myself. Once we reached casualty, the staff stated the patient was in serious condition and questioned my delay, despite the earlier issues with admission and transport. When I argued with them, a staff member rudely told me to "get out of the casualty." The behavior of the staff and doctors was very rude. I attempted to lodge a complaint with the PRO, who provided me with a white paper and instructed me to write a complaint to be given to the director, which felt dismissive. Upon returning to casualty, I was informed that they had "reached their target" and that the patient was serious and needed to be shifted to the ICU, requiring an advance payment for the transfer. Thankfully, after speaking with the PRO again, I was told that payment could be made the next day. I urge you to investigate these serious issues regarding patient care, staff conduct, and administrative procedures.

Worst experience. There is no free parking available at all, which makes it extremely difficult for patients and visitors. Coming to a hospital should not be this stressful. The management must seriously consider providing at least free or affordable parking

In many branches of allopathic treatment, this hospital can be considered as the best in Kerala and some branches best in India. But most important factor is the ethical part of the treatment. Their system is made and tuned for charging minimum to the patients, especially poor patients. Nurses are world class (not in pomp and luxury appearance, but in service and devotion). It is reasonably well equipped and expert doctors. There are few doctors are serving hospital for less salary for the sake of charity. Only an issue normally people face is the delays due to patients crowd. But they have best possible crowd management procedures established, especially in recent months.

Poor car parking service I used the valet carpooling service at the hospital and unfortunately, the driver entered my car with muddy shoes, leaving the mats dirty. Because of this, I now need to spend ₹250 for an interior wash. Since I already paid ₹70 for the valet service and the experience caused additional expense and inconvenience, I hope you understand the situation and take necessary action to avoid such issues in the future.

A Costly government hospital. Very bad experience. Took phone booking for consultation. I was told to be present at 11AM, when I once again checked on the appointment time. They said to come by 12Pm. I reached hospital on time, and waited for 4 hours to meet doctor. This is really unacceptable. If they are not sure about the timing, why making patients to wait so long.

Late ADM Naveen Babu's wife filed a case at Kerala High Court asking for CBI investigation. But to our surprise, has anyone noted when did the single judge pronounced his judgement on late Naveen Babu's wife's case. This is just disgusting and as a lay man no one can question his assumption against Kerala High Court judges decisions on such critical cases. Even though Honourable High Court initiate anything against me, I am happy to fight it on my own. Disgusting with the final verdict of Kerala Division Bench decision. If this happens to any relative of any of the judges, what will be the decision, we all know.

All court rooms are Air conditioned and compound is kept clean. Employees of Highcourt are generally generous.

Serene, peaceful, maintained to basic standards, nothing glorified, quite interesting, the original things were stripped to the max and taken back to Israel, yet Kerala Government replicates to exhibit the culture and importance of it. Quite interesting how we tend to like polished things versus our own crude things which has the same principle, it is worthwhile visit. Open your eyes and see and compare to your existence and you will realise that your own culture is the most important in your life but yet you have another one to compare.

The roofing, floor , their building structure etc were real. Other arch and bema are the replica. Ticket charge is bit High.for adult it's cost 55 rs. You will get a guide to explain about the history. Jewish history books are available there.

Paravur market is situated nearby. There is a boat jetty that is within walking distance from the synagogue. The place is well maintained. The locals are unaware of the place.

Sadly nothing has been done to this marina since it was first built. It is In disrepair and the walkways are dangerous. No washing machine and the cold shower/toilet facilty is just passable. The location is good though and the nearby Bolgatty Palace buildings and pool are nice.

I stayed at the bolgatty resort adjacent to the marina with beautiful views to this marina. Saw a lot of travellers parking their boats here. They stay either in this new resort of the adjacent bolgatty palace resort. The view is just beautiful. The water ways around too arent much crowded with mostly site seeing tourist boats. The resort is affordable and not that expensive for those who are coming from abroad.

I am very glad to be here. I am traveling to Colombo, actually I have reached airport before 6:00 hours. I had explore much more about airport port I have also experience what happened if you reached much more early some where. I was not allowed to inter airport before 4:00 from my departure flight time. If you are coming airport port from Chennai central railway station than it is better to travel with local train. From Chennai central railway station 300 meter Chennai park from there you will find train for trisulam railway station. Believe me I have riched here only in 5 rupees. It was very cheap and fast.
