Quick review; big portions of decent food. Service was good. Good value, would recommend. Longer review; We popped in for a late snack/tea, wasn’t expecting much but Food came quickly and we were happy to find it was bigger portions and much nicer than expected. Service very efficient and quick, probably the quickest we’d experienced in San Sebastián, would recommend. It also felt like good value too which isn’t always the case. 2 mins walk from the beach too so good place for a snack/drinks.

I’M DON’T DRINK ALCOHOL but the service is incredible super nice and thanks to everyone. So the beer, lots of different kinds and flavors all from Gissona. The food is excellent, the burger is tasty and hummus and torresmos appetizers are so good. Thanks again.

Good atmosphere and interesting beer, staff are friendly and their pintxo were incredibly nice. They also have a few good vegetarian options. Their mains were nice but some of the food wasn't cooked as well as it could've been.

Absolutely incredible!! One of our favourite restaurants in San Sebastian. The food is truly outstanding and worth the queue. The assorted mushrooms with egg yolk were incredible. As were the red prawns, asparagus, croquettes and assortment of other delicious tapas/Pinxtos. Lively, fun restaurant with some bar/counter seating, good service and reasonable prices for the quality of the food!!

We queued for about 15 minutes on a Wednesday lunchtime which was pretty good compared to what we had heard. It was so worth it though and once we were in we were quickly moved to some more comfortable and spacious seats at the bar. The specialty mushrooms with egg was amazing and the prawns were good was we were jealous of the couple next to us who were eating giant prawns - wish we had ordered those. The jamon was so melt in your mouth - it was a huge portion but I could have eaten it 10x over. Everything was outstanding and the staff were lovely. Because of the queueing it didn't feel as overcrowded as some of the other Pintxos bars either and we certainly weren't rushed.

Delicious food and friendly staff. Definitely overpriced and not worth waiting in the queue for. We waited for 40 minutes in the queue on a Wednesday night. The mushrooms were tasty and of great quality, but with the quantity, it was not worth €23. Let alone the red prawn, it was small and cost €33 EACH (right, not one dish, but EACH prawn). I’ve eaten many prawns in my life in various European countries. Regarding the quality and size of this one, it felt like a rip-off. Unfortunately we will not come back.

We arrived around 2:45 and waited in line until we managed to sneak in at 3:15, right before the close for the afternoon. It was totally worth the wait. We tried the mushrooms, croquette, monkfish/prawn, foie gras and anchovies. Although the mushrooms are what they seem to be known for online, my favs were the anchovies and foie gras toast. Everything was incredible though and I would absolutely dine here again

Long line up but 100% worth the hype. We waited about 45 min. The man who stands outside and works the line is honestly the nicest human, very pleasant and chatty. The food was the highlight. Standout dishes for us were the razor clams, the mushrooms with egg. The dessert of fresh strawberries with black pepper was also incredible.

Absolutely amazing food, I’d eat my weight here if I could. Ganbara’s on my top 3 best restaurants in Europe to date. Everything we ate here was absolutely top tier, I’m looking forward to coming back again when I visit San Sebastian.

Loved this tapas place! Was definitely my favourite one out of all the ones we went to during our week there. They had such a large menu and have something for everyone. I’m somewhat of a picky eater and I found their food to be delicious and wanted to try more! Efficient service despite the chaotic nature of a tapas bar and they are very attentive even with a full house! Was very impressed in every aspect.

Best terrace in San Sebastian! Order at the bar, take your drink outside and enjoy the sun and the views over the bay. Good vermut, exquisite olives. No tapas but lovely atmosphere and friendly waiter/owner. I enjoyed several hours here during my winter break in Donostia, and absolutely recommend this place!

Top notch beer selection - pales, IPAs, stouts, sours, Red Rye etc. Outdoor seats looking out over the bay make this an easy place to enjoy good beer and spend time.

Blown away by craft selection. Like no other place in San Sebastián. Awesome vibe outside and they offer take away. Despite the crowd super quick service. Must visit for ipa/craft beer fans.

The beer was bad, no tissue in the toliet and hand dryer was broken. Seems very lazy, the pipes for the beer are definitely dirty, as a previous barman who cleaned the pipes regularly I can tell with the taste. Great outdoor seating. Staff were the grumpiest I've met in the basque region. Tourist trap.

Good selection of tasty beers and wines.

Great beer. Nice spot to see the sun go down. Sadly very unfriedly service. I asked if there was anything to go with the beer. Chips or perhaps olives. He told me chips yes. But if I wanted anything else I should go away and go to a pintxo bar. "I am a beer spot" while he sighed loud behind the counter. While I can Imagine his reaction. It could be friendlier. The beer was nice but it left a sour after taste and not thanks to it being an IPA.

A very charming, atmospheric little place. Friendly staff and fantastic food. The burger is good and I’m a huge fan of the gildas. I had so many I think I did damage to myself. Wash it down with some Rioja.

Our favourite pintxos place in San Sebastián. Amazing food and wine. The txuleta burger is just insanely good! Cheesecake is also very good (in my opinion comparable to the one in La Vina). Staff and atmosphere very authentic and friendly!

Amazing food, the burguer txuleta is famous for a reason. Absolutely tremendous. The staff alongside are the sweetest most attentive staff in what is a wonderful city.

If you are going on a Pintxos tour of San Sebastian, make sure to include this place. It'll be worth it for just the Txuleta burger. The Txuleta burger is unassuming to look at. No lettuce, tomato or cheese?! How can a burger with just a beef patty and some cream sauce be so good? Never judge a book by it's cover. The first bite is like being hit by a punch of pure umani, intense beefiness followed by a surprisingly light cheese taste from the cream cheese without overpowering the main character here the Txuleta beef. The burger is on the pink side to maintain the juicy and tenderness mouth feel. The brioche bun is the perfect bun choice to level out the saltiness. The tuna tomato salad was also delicious with well seasoned salt and good quality olive oil. Staff are friendly and service is quick even during busy lunch hours. There is limited seating indoors and outdoors so expect to wait a bit if you arrive bit later during lunch hours.

I don’t write a lot of reviews - I only feel the need to when I’ve had a truly incredible experience, and Bar Desy definitely meets this criteria. The staff were so friendly, the food was amazing and the atmosphere was unmatched. Definitely recommend!

The burger is amazing. Breakfast of champions if you have a late morning. If it was less than 10€ I’d give it the 5th ⭐️

Probably the best burger in town. Paired excellently with papas fritas (off menu item 😉) and an ice cold vermut (con agua con gas). What else do you need?! Well how about some delicious pan con tomat con dos pescados (anchovy and sardine?) and finish your meal with a slice of cheesecake. 🙏🥰 Also after eating and being so full I couldn’t try the pulpo. But it looked like the best one I’ve seen so far in Spain. Slightly charred and crispy vs the soft ones I’ve only had this whole trip. And huge portion. I’ll be back for that one…

Perfect perfect perfect!!!! For an anchovy lover this is heaven on earth. Every bite is a delight. I recommend the blueberry one! The one with pepper and onion. Lastly don’t miss the hot tapa with cod - it was divine as well.

Anchovy heaven. If you love anchoas/ boquerones you will love this place. My favourite was the one with blueberry! 🤪 crowded but just work your way to the front of bar. The bartenders are very quick. English menu provided just pick and choose and point at what you want.

Very friendly servers and it’s probably one of the few pintxo bars where there’s a/c and you feel cool inside. Lovely decor and very very quick service! Although not much space, you can definitely find yourself a little space to eat and drink. It mainly serves anchovies dishes, instead of other seafood/meat. So if you don’t like anchovies, don’t come! It’s won a few awards I believe and very well deserved! My favourite is the crab meat with anchovy but if you don’t like the roe/seafood taste, opt for olives or peppers with anchovies. Food was just amazing! Go for Txakolí wine for the local experience 🥰😌

What an experience! It gets packed very fast and thus the ordering is very chaotic. The service men are friendly though and make sure you’ll get yours eventually. The taste is incredible! No wonder everyone wants a piece!

Loads of fun...but it's just anchovies with toppings. If you like anchovies, great! If you don't, I wouldn't go here. The bread is subpar, but such is Spain. (Unless we're talking about glass bread, which is incredible, but not served here. As a matter of fact, many things are not served here.) My wife and I both loved the calamari dearly. The joint is down-home, it's funky, and like the rest of San Sebastian, touristy to the core. The narrow menu is a gimmick, after all. But don't take my word for it: Ian McKellen ate here!

Blueberries and anchovies sounds wrong but it works as the sweetness balances out the saltiness. It's probably the best one on the menu! The vinaigrette in the blueberry jam makes it moreish and you'll be asking for more. Coconut and anchovies was interesting but the coconut overpowered the anchovies slightly. The Norwegian salmon pairs well with the anchovy or you can have it on its own. You can't go wrong with any items on the menu as the anchovies are delicious and flavour combos are solid. Whether it's pate, tuna or peppers, it's down to your personal preference. Wash it down with a beer or txakoli and you have the perfect pintxos pairing. As one of the most popular pinxtos bars in the area, it is often busy but it adds to the atmosphere. Service is quick with an interesting tannoy system where they shout your order to the back kitchen. Staff are friendly and efficient. Pintxos are reasonable at €3 especially at this quality.

3 eur for excellent pintzos. I tried option one with crab cream which was quite intense and option two with peppers and onion which was more balanced with the crunch and lightness from the vegetables. Perfectly seasoned, quick friendly service, highly recommend even if you’re not an anchovy fan.

Modernist brewery on the river in Donostia with ample inside plus sidewalk seating. Large selection of beers, efficient if not highly interactive service. Stylish modern design a little too sterile for my personal taste, but comfortable. Didn’t try any, but folks around us seemed to enjoy their food.

Nice atmosphere, but beer is ok. The waiter doesn’t know unfortunately how to serve hazy IPA, too many bubble and cream. Never happened at other places who says “craft beer”. The service is cold and prefer seeing his smart phone. I just escape after one beer.

This place was amazing. The staff is lovely and helpful. We came in slightly early and were told the kitchen only opened at seven. The fantastic selection of craft beers alleviated the wait. The chicken comes easily off the bone and is complemented by a tasty sauce. The steak is cooked rare and comes with chimichurri and probably the best potatoes I have had in San Sebastian. To finish it off, we shared a brownie that tasted fresh and light. The creamy mascarpone ice cream made the dish sing.

Excellent craft beers on tap, including IPA and sour, and great service. I had the grilled octopus and steamed mussels, and both were great! Add this to your craft beer pub crawl in the area, and you won't be disappointed.

I feel like I finally found a place that I like and want to come back to. :) I like the atmosphere of the place and, weirdly, the seriousness of the staff. We ordered bao and vegetarian burger. Both were really tasty! The service was also good. The waiter came to take our orders quickly and the food arrived within 7 mins or so. Really recommended.

You go for the novelty of their own-brewed beers which honestly aren't bad. Around 25% of their beers were unavailable, perhaps that means they're tasty. The food was tasty, and expensive. I am sure you can eat better for a better price elsewhere. Good variety so groups with fussy eaters will likely be ok here. Perhaps the perfect embodiment of a 5/10 place in my honest opinion.

This bar has real class, with a cozy atmosphere that feels almost like a French bistro. The food was amazing — fresh, well-prepared, and full of flavor. We arrived late and some items from the short menu were already sold out, but the staff offered us excellent alternatives that didn’t disappoint. A great experience overall! Brilliant service, it was faultless and the staff have a friendly and upbeat nature about them. We ordered the tuna belly, steak tartare, pumpkin salad and the rabbit tagliatelle - each dish was so good. Delicate flavours and so well balanced. The pumpkin salad is a real under dog here - it dosent look the most impressive thing on the plate but my god, the flavours!!! Loved the atmosphere with the vinyls playing also - 10/10 would recommend.

Honestly amazing experience! We had to wait for 2 hours but it was completely worth it. We ordered drinks and some entries to survive the wait. The stuff super busy but knowledgeable, friendly and helpful. Food delicious 🤤 prices are very fair! Edit: adding pictures of the main dish

Special family meal out. Service exceptional. Great food. Short menu served tapas style. We had grilled melon with pickled cucumber and pistachio, grilled tomato and green bean on a romescu sauce, duck breast with aubergine and onion and a roasted pouisson on a bed of grilled green peppers. For desert we had a hazelnut blueberry frangipane tart. The negroni was perfection as was the carafe of Rioja my brother had. Really good coffee too!

This has been one of our go to dining spots in San Sebastian. Our last visit disappointing. We opted for the quail and the fish specials. The should have mentioned that the fish was whole bone in sardines. We noticed that others got larger whole fish. The quail was ok but overcooked. We'll give it another try. Maybe just a bad day.

Great atmosphere and service. Food was delicious. We shared several plates and had a lovely time. Excellent wines to pair with the food. The tuna tartare / tomato salad and fig / peach & squid salad was lovely. A must go to when in Saint Sebastian.

We went for lunch and got the three-course menu. There were multiple options for each course which was great so my wife and I could try more things. The stand out for sure was the wine list with an eclectic blend of Spanish and French wines, all of which were amazing! I wish we had more time to eat and drink more!!

Bartender was so friendly and explained to us about their local Exteberria beer - must try their Elegante!

Thus felt like a proper pub/bar. Small intimate cosy friendly with good service and some great beers on tap. The cheese toasties are great!

Great beer selection and nice small atmosphere

Qué pasa elegante? Its the slogan said by Juanjo, the owner of this bar specialized in beer, all the options you might want they have them there. Im a huge fan of the bocadillos they offer: Sirimiri, Catabrico and the mini hamburger. Its very local and authentic in the Parte Vieja.

This bar has a great selection of beer, probably the best in town with about 20 taps and plenty of bottles. Though the bartender also pours great vermut and wine for the non beer drinker.

Staff will focus on the locals. The locals will push past you to the bar. You will feel unwelcome. But they make some of the best beer in Spain and it doesn’t get fresher. Understand that Basques don’t mean it, understand the history, and just wait calmly for a drop of hop heaven. Food is also very good.

To the "terrible guy with tattoos", thankyou so much for your lunch service today. Joan? What a legend. Don't listen to any complaints about this guy. Great service. And without even asking, he offered many tips for the rest of our vacation. The best dandan noodles and tantanmen we have ever eaten! And the beers are of an extremely high quality! Cheers guys 😀

Great craft beers. The food was a good surprise. I am Asian and I mostly avoid Asian food while travelling in Europe because it’s never as good as back home. A number of bites here were definitely Chinese or Asian inspired but not authentic to the original. They were innovative and very tasty. The dandan noodles come at 3 levels of spice. I had level 2 which was ok spice for a palate that is used to fiery dishes. Staff were very friendly and gave good recommendations for beers to try. They even gave recommendations to other small towns to visit and eat at. I really appreciated that!

Great spot to stop for a pint while exploring Gros. Their IPAs are better than most I’ve had in the US and would definitely recommend swinging by here if youre after craft beer. Food looked and sounded delicious but we had already eaten.

Great collection of a man who likes whisky. Family run. Just always double check the price before order because some whiskys can be more expensive then you expect.

Was very excited to check this place out on my visit to San Sebastián. The place is impressive with an astounding variety of whiskies (duh). There’s also lively music downstairs. Unfortunately the prices are a bit high compared to other bars in the area. Give this place a go if you want to try a whisky you can’t find elsewhere but be aware of the touristy prices.

Museo del Whisky caught me by surprise. A dedicated whisky bar in a seaside Spanish city is, in of itself, a surprise. But what particularly impressed me was the superb range of whisky on offer, and the warm welcome we received. Make sure you order a measure of DYC 8 year old - a Spanish whisky, and a most suitable choice when visiting this hidden gem in San Sebastian.

Best bar in San Sebastian. It was our main stay for the week. The staff are very friendly and do everything to make you feel welcome. Great cocktails and wide range of drinks to suit all. Downstairs is popular with locals and often has piano nights as well as traditional Basque music. The puzzles are also very entertaining. A must visit in San Sebastian.

The best bar in town. Paul the bartender is so funny and has lots of tricks up his sleeve! If you love whisky you have to visit and if you don’t love whisky you have to visit! So much fun and laughter.

Super place. Great vibes. Bartender is a hoot, trust the man and let him direct your whiskey experience. We started with an Old Fashion and the rest was history :)

What a crack-up! Essentially a growler fill operation (& a very good one at that) with 18 taps most of which is Spanish craft. Doesn't have the necessary licence to drink on-premise so they fill a container for you, slap a label on, give you a glass and bag and direct you over the road to the excellent beach promenade. Great range, fair pricing and super super friendly service. Love it!

I wish there was one of these at every beach in the world. Great selection of taps ~20 from memory. Friendly service and decent price. Only take away in plastic growlers, but the beers is fresh and refreshing! Perfect for drinking on the beach or at your hotel.

Really good selection of beers in growlers can and bottlers, Oller is managing the place as a beer champion. He is very knowledgeable and make sure he has always a good selection and variety of craft beers. The place is just opposite to the beach and the music he plays there is really good, boards of Canada I could listen just today. I must stop for any beer lover

Wonderful discovery right near our apartment at Zurriola Beach. Great selection of good craft beer to sample, enjoy or take away in various sizes. Friendly, helpful conversation with one of the owners. Got the T-Shirt!

This was a fabulous meal. Such high quality ingredients and service. The sirloin steak was one of the best we ever had - loved the flaky salt on top! The squid in its own ink was tender and full of flavour, silky and rich. The peppers stuffed with oxtail was a pleasant surprise. I’d love to have that again. Great wine! 🍷

Just fabulous and one of our best meals in San Sebastián. Shared the entrecot de buey €24, delicious and melted in the mouth. Friendly helpful staff and a buzzing atmosphere despite it being towards the end of service. A must if you are in town.

This gem is near the basilica and has both a bar for casual standing and a seated area. Their pinxos are variable and focus on txuleta. Their croquettas of txuleta were crispy on the outside with a creamy rich centre which tasted incredible. We will likely come back for seconds during our stay (and also to try their meatballs of txuleta). Nicolas who served us was really friendly and knowledgeable in his recommendations. We also tried the lamb skewer (his recommendation). It was juicy and came with homemade chips. Atmosphere is relaxed and good service.

The food was really good, the best pinchos experience we had do far in San Sebastián. Must try: Pincho de txuleta and the croquettas de txuleta. We also had the fried squid, Torrezno and pimientos padrón. Most of the waiters were friendly, the one who served us wasn’t as friendly at first but then he got better later.

Absolutely surprised at what we were met with here considering the existing reviews. Just a brief overview: - all table glasses were dirty when we sat down, we had to ask for new ones. This should’ve been a red flag that sent us straight out the door. - the first course vegetables were very obviously out of a can (asparagus / leek hearts) no other explanation. - we came for the steak, as it had good reviews. We found plastic in the meat - not sure how it got there, doesn’t matter. But so many other great restaurants in San Sebastián, it was a shame we spent an evening here.

We were able to get a table without reservations. The service and food were very good. I will definitely return here and I am happy to recommend this place.

Amazing range of quality beers. There’s a lot of choice, with some monster drinks if you’re brave. But there is quality running through all of them.

We were the only people here so a massive thank you for the guy behind the bar who stayed open so we could watch the football!

Went here to watch a premier league football game on a Monday night. It’s small and we were the only people there for half the the time but the Bar staff were friendly and helpful, serving free popcorn at half time. Craft ales beers were nice if a little pricey at approx £10 per pint.

Craft beer pub with about 12 pumps if I remember correctly. With a decent variety of types of types of beer on offer and good music (while we were there I heard rock, soul, rap) a great place to hang out for after work drinks. The staff were really nice and the place was kept really clean with a decent well-stocked bathroom. I will be back to watch Premier/Champions League football (Newcastle United) here as they have a DAZN subscription as well as three large HD TVs inside. There is a small bar upstairs and a larger one in the basement, both with a large screen behind them so that you don't miss anything while ordering a drink and they even have one in the front window upstairs in case you need to nip out for a cigarette.

Did a day trip to San Sebastián and this taproom was the highlight for me! Nice selection of Gross craft beer, friendly staff and nice food. Just beware that it is a little bit outside the centre, but definitely worth a visit nonetheless!

Beer is pretty darn good, but we came to order a burrito and after ordering was told they were totally out of all burritos somehow. And fish and chips. So basically if we didn’t want a burger we were out of luck. Very disappointing after coming so far out of the way for food and beer.

Grim so called craft beer bar with 2 alcoholics heavy petting at the bar late afternoon without being challenged. Beer wasn't good. Craved a salad on my trip recently to San Sebastián and stopped by this place for a quick bite! The salad was huge and delicious! Seating was spacious and clean indoors and they were very attentive to our table. Thanks for a great meal!

I love this place so much, we make sure we visit on every trip to San Sebastian. Train costs around 5 euros return and the Brewery is a short walk from Belaskoenea station. The beers here are all great, I especially loved their blonde and their IPA's. Didn't expect to find such great food at a brewery but we loved everything. The Idiazabal cheese Croquetas, the Torreznos and the pastrami beef sandwich were all delicious. Service with great with very friendly staff. Highly recommended, can't wait to return.

I recently spent a couple of weeks in Donostia, and Teorema was by far my favorite bar in the city. Fortunately it was only about a 1 kilometer walk from my room. The gentleman who seemed to be the owner always had a smile on his face, and the entire place was welcoming and friendly. The interior is somewhat small but the patio area is mostly covered with umbrellas and is where most of the activity occurs, even during rain showers. I walked back a few times, including on my final day in the city.

A good burger place 🍔🙏 we had the Cabra and Completa. The Cabra was great- a good amount of cheese and balance with the onions. The beef is full of flavour. The red lighting and music playlist gives the place a relaxed feel and puts you in a good mood. We ordered the double burgers which made them VERY filling with a nachos starter on top of that. If you plan on ordering dessert, the regular burger size is best. Would recommend!

I really enjoyed the Basque Country burger, the meat is very good but the goat cheese makes all the difference. They give you a bit too much of regional peppers as a side dish but who can blame them. People are very nice and they speak English as while eating you can chill with some reggae tunes. I've eaten here 3 times in a week and each time is was as good as I expected. 13.90 for burger + 3 for some beer.

Ordered some food from the bar one evening whilst on holiday in San Sebastian in August at the end of the grand week. Sadly since my order was a takeaway chicken burger (which took over 30 mins to arrive), it was only when I took it back to the hotel to eat did I find out the chicken was raw as seen in the photos. I did message the bar on IG but got no response. The manager of our pension where we were staying said he knows the owner so agreed to take it back and speak to them. After he did, the bar just said sorry and didn't offer any refund or at least a replacement meal or drinks another day to say sorry. Their excuse for the food not being cooked properly was because of a hectic week due to the grand week celebrations and that the staff are probably tired. I wouldn't recommend eating here - drinks are okay.
