Baptist church
First Baptist Church is a historic site with an active archeological dig to uncover its predecessors. The church welcomes all and is deeply involved in the community. The pastor, Dr. Rev. Davis, is highly knowledgeable about the Bible. Visitors have enjoyed services and found them to be a blessing, with welcoming congregants and enthusiastic praise for the Lord. It's considered a great American treasure and has been recommended as a welcoming place for everyone to visit.
Visited with members from my family reunion. It was a pleasure being in service. The message "Praise the Lord" was such a blessing.

Bruton Parish Episcopal Church is an iconic 18th-century church located in Colonial Williamsburg, where it continues to hold weekly services. The church has a rich history, with notable restorations including the Public Magazine, Ludwell-Paradise House, Old Courthouse, and George Wythe House. Additionally, the church played a significant role in the restoration and recreation of eighteenth-century buildings in Williamsburg. This effort was coordinated by Dr. W.A.R.
Open tour spot with some volunteers inside that will spend a minute or more telling you stories about the building. It's a really old church, just ask her the year, it's awesome! Picture George Washington sitting there for Sunday service? So cool!! Building is kept up well and makes you feel like you were there. It also still has service on Sunday's, so you can even come for a service for a fuller experience (depending on your religious beliefs, I suppose). But, either way, it's truly awesome building.

When we first arrived in Williamsburg, we visited the George Wythe house, which was one of the places on our list to stop at. We saw the cemetery while waiting for our tour (and had to walk across the street to get our tickets and passes), but it was closed that early. NOTE: Check the website for the church for the times that they are open for tours (we did not know that at the time). After we left the Wythe house, we walked over to the cemetery and looked around, not realizing that there were tours at the church. Before we left Williamsburg, we did a little bit more research on the church and cemetery and decided we would try to go back and see if it was open. It was, and we went inside to tour the church. The gentleman inside, who was providing historical information about the church, could not have been more personable or nicer. They provided us some intriguing information and allowed us to take some video and pictures. If you take nothing else from this review, just check the times on the church's website if you would like to go inside and take the tour. As an active church, they schedule their tours around their services.

We visited Williamsburg on a very hot day, and stepping inside the air condition. Church was a wonderful treat! A neat piece of history, and I understand they still owe weekly services here.

A majestic historical place of worship still in operation. The congregation is welcoming and open to those in and out of the faith. They offered answers to questions not only about the physical church but also the faith it represents without pushing. It is a land of peaceful historical zen.

This original church from the colonial period Is definitely worth visiting. Amongst the famous people who attended his church, are George Washington, Patrick Henry, and Thomas Jefferson. Standing in the sanctuary where they once worshiped was quite spectacular. The people in the church were very helpful in teaching us the history of the church.
Justin K — Google review
Beautiful historic church still in operation inside the historic area of Colonial Williamsburg. They encourage $1 donation upon entry and do not allow hats or water bottles inside. Thursday night candlelight concert and you can park right by the church.
Lara M — Google review
Beautiful church with so much history. It's not part of the Colonial Williamsburg organization, but there are church members who volunteer and tell great stories about the history of the church. You can take pictures in the church and then only ask for a $1 donation per person. The grounds are beautiful with grave makers from the 1700's. Beautiful and fascinating. Definitely make time to visit.

My parents were active members of this church for nearly 25 years. My father sang in the choir. This was their home church. When they both developed dementia, I moved them to be nearer to our home in the midwest. They both passed away recently. When I reached out to Williamsburg Presbyterian to share the news, my entreaties were met with stony silence. My interactions with the church are limited. But if our experience with its pastoral ministry is any indication, something is sorely lacking. In writing this, I am "shaking the dust from my feet" (Matthew 10:14), and warning you that pastoral care may be lacking from this community.

Colonial Williamsburg is a 301-acre living history museum that offers a glimpse into life in the 18th century. With over 40 landmark sites and tours, it is described as the world's largest outdoor living history museum. Visitors can freely explore the area, but admission tickets are required to access historic buildings, trade shops, gardens, and demonstrations.
This place is absolutely amazing. There is so much to see as it is billed as the largest history museum in the United States. To go into the buildings you have to purchase a ticket either online or in-person at the Lumber House Ticket Office. You can pretty much get printed maps anywhere and it tells you what building are included in your ticket. I suggest getting tickets for a couple of days as it it pretty impossible to see everything in a day. You are told that any building that the flag is out front is open to visitors. Once inside you have actors dressed in Colonial garb and they give you a background of what life was like during that time period. Everyone was so knowledgeable and friendly where you can tell these people really love what they do to entertain the tourist. For separate fees you can book a guided tour, haunted Williamsburg tour and a horse and carriage ride, which I absolutely loved. This place is definitely worth checking out as it is wonderful to take a step back in history.
Lisa S — Google review
If you love history, good food, and ghost tours this is the place to be. You will enjoy being taken back in time when house drawn carriages and folks wearing colonial attire pass by and offer up a good day. The town and restaurants can be busy so plan ahead. Be sure to walk around there William and Mary campus to see this beautiful campus. Tips: make sure to visit the Visitor's Center for tickets, information, shows, and shuttles to Colonial Williamsburg. Buy tickets in advance in order to see inside the different homes, shops, and business. Buy ghost tour tickets before hand and be sure to wear good shoes. Be sure to visit the shops, restaurants, and colonial homes along the Duke of Glouchester Street. Paid parking kids can be finie nearby and within walking distance. The cobblestone walkways can be challenging so wear good shoes.

Had a great time here with the kids. We were able to easily buy tickets ahead of time, and were able to show the tickets from my phone to get into places. Everyone there was extremely friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable. The tours of the buildings were interesting, educational, and fun. Lots of places with bathrooms, snacks, and drinks. Options for a full meal as well. We spent about 5 hours here.

Life changing trip! Went for a whole week in the end of September and already planning the next trip. Don’t skip the palace or the art museum! Stay curious, take your time and be sure to go around every corner and in every open shop. The actors are amazing, the stories are so interesting, asking questions is celebrated and there is so much to explore and experience. Also, the shuttle is so convenient!

Colonial Williamsburg: Governor’s Palace Tour, Historic District, and Storytelling Colonial Williamsburg is a remarkable destination that brings America’s colonial past to life, and my recent visit left me thoroughly impressed. The Governor’s Palace Tour was a highlight, offering an immersive glimpse into 18th-century opulence and power. The meticulously restored palace, with its grand interiors, lush gardens, and period furnishings, transports you to the era of Virginia’s royal governors. The costumed interpreters are exceptional, weaving historical facts with engaging stories about the palace’s role in colonial politics and society. Their knowledge and enthusiasm made the experience both educational and entertaining, though I’d recommend booking tickets in advance, as slots fill up quickly during peak seasons. The Historic District is a sprawling, living museum that feels like stepping into a time machine. Walking the cobblestone streets past restored homes, taverns, and tradespeople at work—blacksmiths, wigmakers, and printers—captures the essence of colonial life. The district is expansive, so comfortable shoes and a map (or the excellent Colonial Williamsburg app) are a must. Highlights included the Capitol and Raleigh Tavern, where I learned about the seeds of American independence. The area is vibrant with activity, from fife-and-drum performances to impromptu historical reenactments, making it engaging for all ages. What truly sets Colonial Williamsburg apart is the storytelling and learning opportunities. The interpreters don’t just recite facts; they share compelling narratives about the diverse people who shaped this era—enslaved individuals, artisans, gentry, and revolutionaries. Programs like the “Voices from the Past” series and interactions at sites like the Peyton Randolph House provided nuanced perspectives on the complexities of colonial society, including its darker aspects like slavery. These stories are thought-provoking and grounded in extensive historical research, making the experience deeply meaningful. Overall, Colonial Williamsburg is a terrific historic site that blends education, immersion, and entertainment seamlessly. Whether you’re a history buff or just curious, the Governor’s Palace, Historic District, and rich storytelling make it a must-visit. I’d suggest allocating at least a full day to soak it all in, and don’t skip the evening programs for an extra dose of charm! Highly recommended for anyone looking to connect with America’s roots.

Came with a group tour off of a cruise ship. If you come with a pre arranged tour the day ticket is a sticker for your clothes. Mine didn't stay on and some of the exhibits they would not let you in unless you gave the ticket. I had to go to the onsite ticket office to get it replaced so I could go into the governors mansion etc. GET THE NAME OF THE TOUR COMPANY THAT BOUGHT YOUR TICKETS! It is not the cruise ship but who they contracted with. Also we were there off season, so the place was empty
Victoria B — Google review
Colonial Williamsburg was long on our list as a family vacation destination, and we were finally able to visit it this summer. Unfortunately, the day we chose was an extremely hot day, even by Virginia standards, but we still enjoyed our time here. The history of the town is amazing, and I especially enjoyed the rebuilt House of Burgess. Many of the shops along the main street were closed, and we were told it was because of a staff shortage this summer, but the ones that were open were very interesting to visit. We especially enjoyed the dressmaker shop, and the cobblers shop. The actors who Performed the living history bit on the street were pretty good, and a highlight of the day was the fife and drum marching band. Don’t miss the short film in the visitor center, it is actually quite good. All in all, I highly recommend a visit here, especially if you enjoy early American history. Just come with a goal in mind of the places you want to see, and make sure you know the schedule for the reenactment, or you may be disappointed if you miss out on too many things
Kevin H — Google review
If you are a history buff like myself, this place is amazing! I fell in love with this place and will be back with more time! If you come here find a place to park and expect to be here for a day! There is so much to see and do. Every building has something going on or has someone to offer info about the building. It’s such an amazing place that allows you to take a step back in time and honestly it’s amazing!

Williamsburg Baptist Church is a welcoming and inclusive community that embodies the teachings of Jesus to love God and love your neighbor. The church's senior pastor is highly regarded for his kindness and thoughtfulness, setting an example for others. People from diverse backgrounds feel embraced and accepted at this church, where they can freely express their true selves while worshiping. It's seen as a shining example of what every Christian group should aspire to be.
Love this community of faith! They have been so gracious to me and my family since we joined. Hospitality and welcome are baked into their DNA as a community, and they continue to surprise me with their heart for worship, passion for justice, and desire to truly welcome all!

Very welcoming, I visited this Church months ago with my neighbor who told me I would be pleased with the atmosphere, she was right. I was very pleased first with Art Wright the head Pastor he welcomed me the moment I arrived. Several members of the church were very kind, and the choir was also very pleasing. I will certainly attend this Church again. Thanks to you all for making me feel comfortable.

Williamsburg Baptist Church is a warm and welcoming place. As an LGBTQ+ Christian, I'm grateful for the church's commitment to justice, equity, and inclusion--and for creating a community where all are welcome, no matter what. The music is lovely whenever I attend, and I always connect to the minister's sermons. So grateful for y'all for cultivating a space where EVERYONE belongs!
Alexis S — Google review
This church is an open and inclusive organization that is a shining example of what every group of Christians should aspire to be. Their senior pastor is one of the kindest, most thoughtful people I have ever met and is an excellent ambassador for the faith. Every time I have been around the people who attend this church, I've felt welcome and included despite our differences. 100%, would recommend.
Jordan K — Google review
We have thankfully received a warm welcome at WBC during an extremely difficult transition year! The preaching is faithful and the community is genuine. I’m a pastor from another denomination, but none of their individual congregations in the area have actively decided to be fully inclusive of LGBTQ people (even though consistent with their national denominational teaching.) When a specific congregation has decided to intentionally welcome you as your true self, it’s healing and transformative. I never would have believed that after voting for my denomination to include LGBTQIA people and seeing that vote pass, my family would actually find that full welcome in a Baptist Church, but here we are, and we’re thankful!

How many genders did God create? Is this the church God wants? How to be the light? How to be the salt? A place where the blind lead the way, a politically correct club.
Eva W — Google review
I live in Virginia Beach and have only visited here once, but they still make me feel so welcome and included from afar, going out of their way to involve me in their virtual Bible studies however they can. Have received a lot of support from them and they make a great effort to respect everyone's identities and educate themselves. Highly recommend this church!
Angelica W — Google review
This church is a wonderful example of God’s love. All are welcome, come as you are. When Jesus was asked which was the greatest commandment He responded in Matthew 22:37-39 “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind. This is the first and great commandment. And the second is like it “you shall love your neighbor as yourself”. Williamsburg Baptist Church is a great example of living out these commandments. Paul said in Romans 3:23 “for all have sinned and fell short of the glory of God”. Jesus also said in Matthew 7:1 “Judge not, that you be not judged”. All those who judge this church should first look at the plank in their own eye and acknowledge that they are a sinner like all the rest of us and should be thankful for the radical grace of Jesus, loving others as Jesus commanded and not judging!

CrossWalk Church - Kingsway, located in Williamsburg, is a vibrant and welcoming community that embraces diversity across various backgrounds. This church offers an incredible worship experience characterized by heartfelt music and a strong sense of family among its members. Visitors often feel the warmth of the congregation, which fosters an atmosphere of unity and belonging. The sermons are deeply rooted in biblical teachings, providing attendees with inspiration and encouragement to refocus their lives.
I wasn’t exactly looking for a new church. In my 30+ years living in Williamsburg, I’ve gone to at least 5-10 different churches, but three weeks ago when I was having kind of a low weekend, a friend of mine said to meet her at Crosswalk Church. I was 30 minutes late, but I still decided to go, and I’m so glad I did. 12 years ago Crosswalk was one of the churches I attended. I went off and on for maybe a year. Nothing was wrong with it, I just ended up at some different churches for different reasons. Now I’m back at Crosswalk and it feels so right. This church is friendly and alive. You can sense God’s presence and looking around you see people full of joy, purpose and passion. Every generation of people is here. This church feels like home and the type of place I want me and my family to belong. 💙

I gave this church as well as the Norge location several tries along with my boyfriend at the time. He likes the church although he said he felt judged and rejected at the Norge location. I don’t like or agree with either location for various reasons. They allow their members who are serving on the worship team to wear leggings which I feel is not appropriate for church and is not modest. The lighting is too dark and it is impossible to read your Bible during video playback. They are not being good stewards of their money. They purchased candles and lit them and used them for maybe a couple minutes and then threw them away. The pastor at the Norge location kept switching between praying to God and praying to Jesus, you should be just praying to God. I don’t agree with having female pastors as it also says that in the Bible. I was in complete shock when they had an Easter bunny for Easter. That completely goes against what Easter is all about and certainly confuses or misguides the children. They do have other issues as have been mentioned by others in previous reviews at both locations. I do not attend anymore and would not recommend them. There are other better churches in the area.

Love this church!!! No judgements, come as you are... White, black, Asian, Spanish, old, young, male or female. Gay, straight, interracial couple or single. This church is the true meaning of "Come as you are". My family and me were made to feel welcomed and loved from the moment we stepped in the church, and I will definitely consider this becoming my home church!

Music is so loud it drove me out of the sanctuary. Members are welcoming but they need a process for allowing individuals to remain undisturbed and in quiet contemplation during "The Peace" or greetings of those seated with you. As a first time visitor, the environment overall was very nice. Looking to continue participating with the services as I have heard several glowing reviews of the sermons.
Tim W — Google review
Awesome praise and worship! Very welcoming and loving but not in a fake way. The sermons always leave me feeling refocused, renewed and challenged. This is a bible preaching church, NOT a self help seminar that takes one verse and uses it out of context.

My wife and I were attending this church before we were graced & honored with the privilege of pastoring this AMAZING CHURCH!! Greatest people you would ever want to meet that will give you the warmest welcome ever! Incredible worship experience in a Multi-ethnic, generationally diverse and a great sense of family!! God’s Spirit flows in places of unity, which is what Jesus prayed for (John17) and is what we hope to achieve as well through His Grace!! ...YOU BELONG HERE!!!😄

I wanted to like this church. I went for the first time yesterday morning for a Sunday service. The music was pretty good, drums, guitar, praise/Contemporary Christian rock style, lots of swaying. Pastor Pam's prayer and praise time was high energy, a steady musical beat going to keep the experience up. Then, a video testimony of a family that attends, which mentions their willingness to give to their church community out of what God has blessed them with. Next, Pastor Raphael encouraged giving in the offering by telling the story from 1 Kings 14:8-16 in which the prophet Elijah went to the home of a widow woman and her son, and asked them for water and food; the woman told him she had only enough meal and oil to make a little bread, and then they will die because of the famine and their inability to get more. Elijah, the man of God, tells the widow to make him a cake of bread first and that if she does this, she will not lack grain or oil for the rest of the famine, and she does so. This is the offertory story. Excited for the sermon to finally start, I watched, slightly disappointed, as a screen was put up for Pastor Mark Morrow to video in from the Norge campus, and deliver an entire sermon on the church giving to itself for unnecessary improvements, and God's lead for them to discontinue their major missions projects and upgrade their own facilities. Hang in there. Pastor Mark led into the sermon saying that Crosswalk is a very generous church, that in the past 5 years they have given over 2.25 million dollars to missions; that the first 10% of their churches' giving goes to missions, and in addition that each year they have chosen a major missions project to support, and that the church supports 46 partner missionaries. Pastor Mark goes on to say that the church has been sacrificing inwardly to give outwardly, and they will now be taking 2020 off from major missions projects to upgrade keyboards, drums, speakers, move the sound system from analog to digital sound, get new LED projectors, take the lights from incandescent to LED, move the baptismal, paint, refresh decorations, change the staging, tweak the HVAC (despite the fact that he acknowleded that they repaired the AC and re-roofed this campus this year). He - remotely, on the perfectly functioning screens - shows an image of what an upgrade might look like, and announces that "Williamsburg residents are very discriminating. They want quality or they're not going to come." He says that bamboo huts might work for their missionary partners, but even the Taco Bell and the Chili's and the Chic-fil-a in Williamsburg got upgrades this year and the church NEEDS this to represent Jesus to the local community. The upgrades God is leading them to do for the church, he says, will be 1.5 million dollars and "at the end of the day we'll all enjoy a much greater experience as we come together to worship Jesus." The focus of the Sunday morning service was a pitch for money at the sacrifice of missions. The upgrades are entirely superficial. The Bible says not to store up treasures on earth, where moths and rust corrupt, but eternal treasures in Heaven. ("Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal, but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.” Matthew 6:19-21) Further, the church was using Old Testament biblical models of the Tabernacle and the Temple from Exodus, and a premise of faith-based generous and sacrificial giving TO ITSELF. If the church genuinely believes that these absolutely superficial repairs are worth sacrificing missions causes over, this is not my church community. This sort of thing really needs to be addressed at a church business meeting and not on a Sunday morning when people are coming to hear the word of God. If God wants the church to be nicer, God can lead folks to give to that cause without sacrificing missions.

Nestled in the heart of Williamsburg, Virginia, the Williamsburg Christian Church is a vibrant community that truly embodies the spirit of inclusivity and warmth. This church stands out for its welcoming atmosphere where everyone—regardless of ethnicity, gender identity, or socioeconomic status—is embraced with open arms. The philosophy here is simple: "Come as you are." Attendees can dress comfortably while engaging in meaningful worship services held at various times throughout Sunday.
I have attended Williamsburg Christian Church for many years. I have seen ministers and leadership come and go over time. Current minister, Fred Liggin and leadership, are focused in the right direction. Generally in life you only get something out, if you put something in. Church is no exception to this. All are welcomed at this church.

Even though it's a church they REALLY make you feel like family that has your back. Everyone is welcome. Any ethnicity, any gender identity, any socioeconomic background. You will always be welcome in any dress attire just as long as everything that needs to be covered is covered. It's literally COME AS YOU ARE!! it's not what you think "a traditional church" idea. It's open, honest, and the words of the Bible are preached and helps with things and issues that are going on in today's world. It's NOT A HELL FIRE AND BRIMSTONE preaching/teaching. Please stop in for a few services and you'll never understand how much you will start walking in the word of the Lord and Savior. Our doors are open to all the masses. God bless. Peace be with you. Hope you will stop in for good company, open arms, singing praises to God and getting a great sermon/teaching of the word of God.

Warm, welcoming and inviting! While visiting Williamsburg, VA, from La Grange, KY this past week, my husband & I had the privilege of visiting this fine church. We chose it by searching Christian Churches Williamsburg. We felt right at home, even as strangers, we were warmly welcomed. Pastor Liggins introduced himself to us at the end of the service and other parishioners also welcomed us. We both commented on how culturally diverse this church is. It is so precious to witness all of God's children coming together to serve Him, the One who came to save each and every one of us! The most impressive was the sermon. Pastor Liggins truly has been called to serve the LORD in this community! All of you are so blessed to have him as your pastor! We look forward to following your sermons online. Thanks for making them available! Many blessings to all of you! In His humble service, Ron & Monica Mudd

Waters Edge Church Williamsburg is a spiritually uplifting place where the cheerful, loving, and kind community makes everyone feel at home. The teachings of Pastor Stu resonate deeply with the attendees, fostering a strong connection and boosting faith. The church's mission is to demonstrate the love of Christ through caring for people. Located in a cinema, the setup may be different but it quickly becomes familiar.
This is the most spiritually uplifting church I’ve found in 18 years! The people are cheerful, loving, humble, and kind. Pastor Stu’s teachings speak directly to my heart and I experience a connection here that boosts my faith. I know when I come or listen online that God hears my prayers, cares for me, and speaks to my heart through what I hear and experience at Waters edge services and events. Thank you Pastor Eddie and Molly! Their care is for people and their mission is to show the love of Christ!

I'm new to the area and was totally prepared to go "church shopping" for a couple weekends. So thankful I didn't have to! My first experience here at the Williamsburg campus was awesome! Pastor Stu consistently speaks a good message leaving me with words to chew on all week. I've been going since the New year and this is definitely the church for me. Oh! And this campus is in the cinema, so the setup is a little different than most, but it doesn't take long to get used to it. You're warmly greeted, can grab coffee/donuts on the way in and you can just feel the positive energy around you. Give it a try!

Waters Edge Church has changed mine and my family's life. I was an atheist, my wife was agnostic. Now we are living our life for God and raising our 4 young children in a great environment. My oldest is 7 years old and asked Jesus into her heart and got baptisted. My second oldest (6) has been asking a ton if questions about God and both of them literally don't let us miss one Sunday. They love passing by their church and telling their friends and teachers about it.

Felt like I was walking in a prison with all the security at you everywhere. Telling you don't move here don't go there. Not my idea of a way a church should greet people. Her reasoning was as because they have kids everywhere but my question is what makes you think that me as a person would even have second thoughts of harming a child so they need to think about how they greet
John J — Google review
Lead pastor is more interested in being the coolest guy in the room than speaking Gods word. He is also nowhere to be seen after service if you want to ask him more about the sermon. I feel like this organization is a business first, a social platform second, and a CHURCH last.

GRATEFUL is the first word which comes to mind when thinking of what to write about our experience with this church for our wedding. I am so grateful for EVERYTHING Father Kyle, Rita, Jennifer, and everyone else who contributed to our wedding. From the very first phone call, I truly felt as though it was destiny I was put in contact with them. The time and effort Rita gives to making sure the ceremony is exactly what you envision is unprecedented. Whatever anxiety we may have had at rehearsal about the wedding was put to rest that evening in large part because of Rita; her directions and tips for the ceremony made all the difference in the world. The actual ceremony was perfect — it felt as though a family friend who has known my husband and I our entire lives was marrying us. Everyone who attended the wedding was wildly impressed with how personal and natural feeling the ceremony was. I just cannot imagine the day and Rita & Father Kyle not being a part of it — my husband and I feel so thankful our memories of that day include her! We WHOLEHEARTEDLY recommend Rita & Father Kyle — you will not be disappointed.

We recently moved from CA and we're looking for our new church. We found the congregation friendly and the church itself stunning. The music was fantastic. With that said, and why I didn't rate at 5 stars, is because we couldn't hear half of the service! It wasn't specific to any one speaker, priest, or microphone being used. I literally cannot tell you if the sermon was good because I heard maybe every fifth word. Is this a known issue that will be remedied soon, because we really want this to be our church?

This review speaks to their Parrish Hall venue and less about the church itself. A great place to hold your event with personal or corporate. The venue is spacious with enough room to hold a guest count of probably 200 comfortably. The views of the surrounding property are great, especially for a wedding. As a whole, the building is directly attached to the church and makes sense if you are planning to combine your wedding ceremony or baptismal with a reception or celebration event afterward. The staff are polite and professional. They are following current Covid guidelines. Recommended.

I do not attend this church but I live in the neighborhood right below the church. I am so tired of the church people coming out of service and blocking us in our neighborhood. You just left church and your hateful and disrespectful by having no common courtesy to let us out. You block us in and I sat at the stop sign for 20 mins just trying to get out onto the road I almost got hit when I finally took a chance to gun it as fast as I could. Please after spending hours praying and acting like decent citizens of the community have some common decency and respect for us to let us out of our neighborhood. BH

Calvary Chapel Williamsburg is a welcoming community that feels like family to many of its attendees. With a focus on teaching the Word of God in an honest and straightforward manner, this church offers verse-by-verse studies that enrich the spiritual journey of its members. The fellowship here emphasizes worship and glorifying the Lord, creating an atmosphere where everyone feels included and valued. Many have found comfort and support during challenging times through Pastor Tom and his wife, who are dedicated to their congregation.
We’ve attended once. Going again tomorrow. Nice people. The other Calvary Chapels I’ve attended had collection boxes that you could drop offerings and prayers in but at this one they “pass the plate”. Not used to that. 😋 It’s certainly not a deal breaker. We’re drawn to churches that teach the Word, in truth, sans opinions. Short story..... we like it!!❤️🙏

The Memorial Church is a charming church built in 1907, showcasing glass panels on the floor that allow visitors to view the foundation bricks dating back to the 17th century. This reconstructed building on the Jamestown site adds a significant touch to the overall ambiance, effectively tying together various elements of the settlement. Moreover, an engaging Timelapse video playing inside enhances the experience by providing a glimpse into historical transformations.
The atmosphere feels gentle here. It's a great place for a casual stroll. The grounds are very large and there's something to see at every stop. Besides what little has been preserved and or dug up there's not much original pieces here. Mostly all reconstructions. But, it's still worth the time out to walk and enjoy Virginia's first official settlement.
Jesse V — Google review
When I visited this they were excavating underneath the floor boards where the man that was knighted had been located. If you look around the structure you might have noticed some emblems, one of which had the Knights Garter, and some attributes to the time period in antiquity. Certainly one of the oldest buildings still standing in the Americas.

The Jamestown Church is the center of the site. When I visited they were working on it. Though, to be honest, they are always working on it. Not the first made church but it survived the longest. And even on the hottest of days it can be a nice cool place to rest.

Instead of just having to use your own imagination, you feel like you are actually at a settlement.

It's an active excavation site when we visited. There is a small area reserved for visitors to take photos and read the information boards. Still quite a neat experience.

Historical church, monitors on the inside show the restoration/excavation of the church. Decently well lit on the inside of the church. Everything is well labeled.

The docents we've dealt with here are horribly unwelcoming, unfriendly, and rude. The night before they closed the site in our face at 4:30after being told by a dozen at the Jamestown settlement that they are open until 5 pm. Unapologetic, unsympathetic, disinterested. The next day I tried to go to the Heritage Church and ask about a service. The Wikipedia article says that The church is active, and it is presented on Google maps as an active Church. When I asked the docent if the church had an active service she acted as if I was trying to breach church and state or something. She offered no information about it or where I might find one or why I might think that there was a church there with an active service instead of acting like I'm an idiot for thinking that I mean active church service on a federal site.

I have not attended any services at Olive Branch Christian Church. However, I recently visited the church's cemetery and was astounded by the large number of deceased soldiers from the Civil War. The sight was particularly impressive, especially with the flags adorning their grave markers over the past weekend. This experience has made me realize the rich historical significance that lies within my local area.
Great worship experience. Church unity and love is in another level. I love this church very much

Hvn't been to any services. Finally stopped to view cemetery & am amazed at the number of Civil War dead. Very nice, esp. with the flags at their headstones last weekend/week. Finally realizing just how much history is in my backyard!!
