The 35 best Richmond, Virginia breweries and craft beer

Sort of a cool place, I guess? I'm an out-of-towner that was visiting for biz and I went in on a Sat night since I was hungry and found this place online. The place was packed with a band playing outside... Tons of families/kids. I was surprised that I couldn't get a seat at the bar, because there were no seats, or waiter/waitress service for that matter. Drinks were walk up only and dining was seat yourself, first come first serve. I asked to see a food menu and was surprised that really the only thing they had was pizza or a pimento cheese dip. I was told to scan to QR code when I was ready to order and then wait for a text, and then go to the kitchen to pick it up. I dunno, that seems like a ton of work since I was the one doing it all, and I went there to be waited on and relax. Maybe that's the way they do it South of the Mason-Dixon line, but it was def a turn-off, especially when it was still the same price as full-service. The pizza was mid, at best, but the beers were great. So at least they're doing that much right.

We recently hosted our **Build Your Own Spirit Doll Workshop** at Hardywood Richmond and it could not have been a better experience! From start to finish, the communication with Paige and Tyler was excellent—clear, timely, and so supportive both before and after the event. The bartenders were absolutely amazin as well—friendly, attentive, and made everyone feel at home while keeping the energy high. The space itself was the perfect blend of cozy and lively, giving our participants room to create, laugh, and connect. Our community loved it, and we left feeling grateful for the hospitality and professionalism of the whole Hardywood team. Highly recommend Hardywood Richmond not only for their great beer 🍻 but also as a welcoming venue for unique events like ours. Thank you again Paige, Tyler, and the bartending staff—you made it a magical day ✨

I am currently not drinking, but I tried their lavender lemonade. It is the best lemonade I have ever had! I think I enjoyed it more than I would have enjoyed a beer, anyway!

Cool place. Outdoor seating is awesome, especially when not busy! Love the fire places. Pizza is really good! Beer selection great. And always lots of fun music, trivia, and bingo activities going on all the time! BUT it seems to be a place people feel more comfortable bringing kids… and that is the only downside to this brewery. Not a great place to avoid screaming and running kids between legs and tables. We would come more if it was kept more of the adult space that it is supposed to be. Breweries aren’t for kids folks.

This was a cool experience. My family sat outside, all 7 of us, and listened to live music that was fun and interactive. They have QR Codes at the tables where you can order food and drinks. You do have to go get them yourself inside, and the drink area and food area are separate word to the wise. We didn't get the text alerts that they were ready and had to guess so that process could use some improvement. The pizza was good and I got the pimento cheese tray to share and it was AMAZING. I was honestly not expecting it to be as good as it was. The pickles, red onion, olives, everything was awesome. The strawberry buzz cocktails were also very good. The seating areas could use some umbrellas or shade of some kind, when it got sunny it was a bit uncomfortable.

We stopped in while on a trip between Delaware and North Carolina. We stopped in because I had heard the Gingerbread Stout was awesome. We were not disappointed. The brewery has great indoor and outdoor space. There are a couple of fire pits outside for could weather. There is a pizza place inside. The pizza is very good if a bit pricey. I had the bourbon barrel, and coffee variants of the GBS. Both were excellent! We will certainly return!

Great beer, great food and a great atmosphere! It's a really nice outdoor space with a very nice music venue attached. Definitely reccomened if you're in RVA!

Veil’s new location is great, stays on brand with the same feel as the Forest Hill location. Remedy burger is a winning combination to Veil’s masterful collaborations with local food options. This new upgrade will definitely have craft beer fans coming back for more.

Been wanting to go to this brewery for years. It's one of my favorite breweries in the world. Sadly I was disappointed in every aspect. First, they decided to open an hour late for no reason. Second, they did have a single popular beer to-go. Thirdly, really nasty bathrooms. Unfriendly servers. Long food wait times. You get the idea.

So this brewery has been on my wish for so long but it was a decent trek from Philly. We happened to be in Virginia for family and we popped down (though as predicted the traffic was HORRENDOUS in both directions so plan accordingly). The brewery is gigantic, lots of indoor and outdoor seating, in house food which was amazing. Flavorful, balanced and just chef's kiss to complement the delicious beers. Ok the beer -- that's the main event. We decided to try most of the beers that were on draft (they also do can pours), the IPAs are outstanding, obviously it's what they are known for, but I was so so happy to also have great ales, the Saison and Belgian beers were so good. Staff were so nice and welcoming and we got great swag and cans to go as well before leaving. Outside is VERY dog friendly (they'll give you a clean water bowl and fill it) and SHADED which for any pale folks 🦇👻 *most of the outdoor area is in shade for the entire day which was much appreciated for me and our two double coated pups. Ample free street parking, affordable food and drinks just an overall solid place to check out. If I didn't live hundreds of miles away I would visit this place on the regular

Have had beers from The Veil before but never visited……… until today!! Had a TIPA collab with Omnipollo and it was beyond delicious. Incredibly smooth with a high ABV but so smooth. The sour was on point and we all enjoyed the pork kebabs and chicken. As you can see from the pic, pet friendly! Beautiful day, great vibes and tremendous beers! Highly recommend if in Richmond!!!!

The Veil does not disappoint. The beers are varied in style but I do wish there were more low abv options. Had the Merciless Hazy IPA and tried the Belgian quad, and both were excellent. The Asian food options were excellent. Had the pork belly rice: the sauce was amazing and the pork belly rich and flavorful. Comfy seats at the tables but they need more 2 or 4 person tables for those wanting a less public place to sit and drink. It would also be nice if the patio was covered to afford more comfortable outdoor seating in rainy or super sunny conditions. Overall though, the Veil is still one of the best breweries in Richmond!

One of my fav breweries in the world...and I always have a blast. Sadly, the only reason I didn't give them 5 stars is 'cause a few close pals mentioned that their service declined a tad, at the bigger, new, fancier location...guess that's the way things go...SIGH!

So many beers! Great for casual brewery day. Not sure if they have food? Never tried it. Staff are always super helpful with suggestions and always very nice even when busy!

We went here on a recent visit to Richmond and enjoyed it. The beer was good and the pizza we had was excellent. We had a pretzel too and that also was good. The beer was excellent. Even though we went at night no one seemed to mind our child was with us. They had an awesome shirt, but unfortunately not in my size. Besides the beer that will be a reason I go back.

Great place. They have wonderful beers on tap, friendly and kind staff, and the decor is really nice. Love the mural, guys. Honorable mention to the pizza. Freaking delicious. I'm not a local but I make a point to stop by their locations whenever I'm in Richmond. They introduced me to hot honey and I'm a big fan.

What a great place to grab a couple of pints. The guy working the bar was great and the beer was fantastic. Would love to go again when I'm in the area.

I am not a beer expert, this is all just my personal opinion. Be aware that a single taste is difficult to grasp, and later evaluations may be wrong due to the effects of previous drinking. (Blistered shishitos were a good choice.) Personal Recommandations: Lite Haus, West Coast Paranoid, Nectar & Knife, Falcon Smash The temperature inside is very cool (very satisfying part, but those who wear thin clothes in summer need to be careful). 4.3/5.0] Falcon Smash, IPA 7% light and smells good 4.0/5.0] Lite Haus, rice beer 3.6% beer 4.4/5.0] West Coast Paranoid, 5% Pale Ale good pale ale 3.5/5.0] Element, 5% Golden Ale I don't know what the heaviness is Soft and chewy scent 4.6/5.0] Nectar & Knife, IPA Imperial 8% BEST, the alcohol content is high compared to other beers, but it is so delicious and the harmony of deep flavor and smokeyness creates a beautiful balance. Swallowing the throat is also very soft, so it may feel a little greasy. 4.1/5.0] Last Broadcast, IPA Imperial 8% A little more greasy than nectar, less refined feeling. 2.0/5.0] Under the thames, Bitter 4.5% ABV I don't know why, but it tastes like tap water. 4.2/5.0] North Park, Pale Ale 5% Just pale ale, flavored removed version of nectar

Beer was great here. There were quite a few options to choose from, which isn't always the case at breweries. The double waxing beer is bright pink but I liked it a lot. Definitely a unique flavor There was indoor and outdoor seating available and makes for a casual place to hang out. Small parking lot on side.

Awesome brewery. Very cool vibe and chill place. Falcon Smash IPA is awesome. In my top 5. The blistered peppers are delicious and a welcome addition to the usual minimal brewery food offerings.

Good variety of brews available here. They had a lot of IPA's available, if that's your thing. There was a nice selection of food options on the menu. The place has a good atmosphere with seating, available inside and out. I will definitely be back.

Tasty beers and more! Plenty of room inside and out. As a dark beer fan, I appreciated the availability of a Porter and a Stout in June, both of which were excellent. The lighter beers were great for a summer evening as well. No complaints! Convenient option to order from your table, and food arrived almost immediately. A great choice whether you're looking for a flight of flavorful craft beers or just a tidy place to hang out. Cheers!

Great location, beer garden is great. Beer is quality and continues to improve. Love their IPA series. (That was before) I now work in the neighborhood and Ardent is my go to spot. The X is a quality and consistent member of my IPA beer diet and I enjoy trying their rotating seasonals across the board. The adjacency to Eazzy Burger and ZZQ are solid adds to the site and it is absolutely the best beer garden in Richmond. Also the staff is amazing.

In town visiting and brewery hopping. Had a great time at Ardent. Staff was very friendly and even did a small brewery tour. There’s a huge outdoor patio area with plenty of options covered and uncovered. Inside taproom has a nice laid back industrial feel with seating and friendly staff. Altogether a great spot to relax and throw back a few with friends. Cheers!!

Very large yet cozy patio to relax in. Open industrial look. The beers are good and the staff was talkative. Would like to see more dark beers and a slightly larger selection. They do serve more than just beer such as wine and hard seltzer.

This is a must try in Scott's Addition! The beer is amazing and the staff is awesome. The food options at the brewery are very good - would suggest the kimchi grilled cheese and the Italian sandwich. Ardent is family friendly, they have good food choices and juice boxes. The best bbq place in the area is just next store if the food options dont peak your interest. Go early to get a good seat! Highly recommend

fantastic brewery with amazing food and a cool vibe. I forgot to take a picture of the banh mi because I ate it too fast, but high quality. fried dumplings were crispy and savory. wake n shrimp rice bowl hit the spot. I'm a stout head and they did not disappoint. took 2 visits to try it all. they have guest taps from Perennial and Prarie, 2 of my favorite breweries, but their own stouts managed to even top those. I had never heard of this place before this weekend but they belong on a short list of the best breweries in the US. if this place was near my home I would be here at least weekly.

I’ve been a customer for a couple years now. I really love the amount of beer options/flights, they’re rotated frequently. Though I think very few are actually made in house. The menu is more of a Vietnamese fusion cuisine meets bar food. My favorite dishes are the shrimp banh mi (you can tell the bread is fresh) and the noodle bowls. I’ve tried other menu items but nothing noteworthy. They often have events which can be a plus for some interested or a con for those wanting to dine in showing up on one of those days by coincidence. The service can be pretty hit or miss as well, but I’ve never had an overall bad experience. They have games to play as well but I’ve never wanted to deal with the hassle of breaking bills at a busy bar.

First time visiting The Answer after several years and the beer was still great, the service was good but the food was not at all what I remember. I ordered the pork dumplings and they were really under seasoned and lacking flavor. I also got the pork belly banh mi and while the pork belly was crispy, the whole thing was really under seasoned and lacking salt. Maybe it was just an off day but I was disappointed.

Wife and I went to the video game swap etc. We have been here before and the selection of beer is amazing. I would love to to try the food but every time we go we just can't seem to get the service. We got there at noon. Ordered a variety of beer, which were amazing and then asked for mushrooms. Our first waitress was a waste of space. We advised her we had ordered and she stated because the restaurant was busy. After 45 min people around us that came later received their food. It really looks amazing. 1 hr later after we had received the bill the mushrooms came out. We tried to tell the runner that we had canceled but he seemed to run off as to not want to hear our experience. All the bartenders looked as if they didn't want to be there. A real shame. The young hostess was the only one bussing tables and seating people with a smile. God Bless here. She needs a freaking raise. Asset to this business but would be an asset to any company that recognizes the hard work she was doing. We stayed around for the swap and ordered from another waitress, just beer and it was quickly served. We then tried to order more beer but the 1st waitress was there and we decided not to order because of the 1st experience with her. This waitress doesn't know she could have had a great tip. I am not sure if I would recommend and restaurant that seems so chaotic.

Amazing beer and great food. Servers were clearly upset for some reason. It was a slow Sunday but there was something going on with them. They still provided decent service. Answer is a legend for the beer and it’s been going for so long. I had the bahn mi sandwich and it was great. Draft and food prices are reasonable. If I lived in the area, I’d be coming here a couple times a week.

This is one of my favorite breweries in Richmond. The beer is always spot on and they have new selections constantly. The fruit/sour beer are amazing too. The food is always good and they have great choices. It's a kid friendly place and they have several video games to keep you entertained.

Such a great spot for a good brew. The beers were delicious, the staff were lovely, of all the breweries I went to in Scott's Addition (which is a few) this was my favourite. Some really tasty sours, ipas and unexpectedly the golden stout was also good. Thanks for a lovely evening

We had such a great time at trivia night at Väsen. The questions were actually fun and well thought out, probably some of the best trivia we’ve played in terms of variety and challenge. This spot is also my husband’s favorite for non-alcoholic options, which means a lot since he doesn’t drink. It’s one of the few places where he still feels totally included in the vibe while we’re out having fun. Great beer and great energy.

I’ve been wanting to come to this brewery for a few years now and it definitely lives up to expectations. Friendly staff, delicious beer, and lovely decor. Will definitely be back!!

Absolutely visiting Väsen. The Hefeweizen is incredible. One of my favorite breweries in RVA. If you like the brews grab yourself a 4 pack to go.

I love that they had several sours on tap! They were good. I had the passion fruit and wasn’t disappointed. Husband had a flight and the board that holds the cups are so unique. You can tell a lot of detail and passion went into them. I love the boulder in the middle of the bar you can sit at. Outdoor seating is awesome! Dogs welcome on the patio so you get to see cute pups while you drink beer. How can you go wrong? Staff was knowledgeable and friendly!

Stopped here after making our way through Scott’s addition area. Great outdoor benches and a smaller capable inside for seating. The staff were super friendly and the brews were honestly some of the best in the area if not thee best. Group favorites include the Radapils, Golden Stout, the Velvet Walrus. Happy to check this place out again and again. Cheers!!!

Superb brewery. This place has a uniquely Scandinavian twist. Featuring Nordic yeasts, uniquely northern hop profiles, and with a viking vibe throughout, this place is wildly cool. Their beers are phenomenal - lots of great IPAs and really unique stouts. The mushroom 🍄 stout is so good and totally unique, filled with maple and umami notes. Their tap room is spacious and overlooks the brewing facility. They show lots of great programs (world cup, etc). They also have a wicked cool outdoors club. This place is fantastic all around. Definitely check it out!

We hosted an event at Garden Grove recently that was a huge success! Ryan and the team made the whole experience really special and the space was perfect for some of the activities we planned plus all of the drinks were delicious!

Carytown Brown full flavored. Carmel, toasty, yummy. Double Wide, a fantastic NEIPA. Hoppy with wonderful pine notes. Crisp and clean.

Such a cute little brewery. I ordered the "Mozu"- it was as a very light and refreshing drink. I'm not a big beer girlie but it's yummy! I got to meet Ryan the owner and he was the nicest guy. A great local brewery !

Fantastic place to spend the afternoon sampling award winning beer and learning about the area. Bring a game board and friends. The staff are friendly and a wealth of knowledge. Be sure to try the “real PBR” - People’s Beer of Richmond. And…first to the Richmond bar area with the Union app ordering/payment system, enabling the fastest ordering and payment options with Apple Pay and Google Pay. Love it

We called ahead of time and were told that they allow well behaved dogs inside, which was awesome. They also had some gluten free options for me to choose from. Sadly, no gluten free beer. But they had 2 honeywines, a red wine and a cider. The coffee was actually exceptional as it was made with granny smooth apples, so it was more sour and less sweet. The atmosphere was cool and so was the bartender. I loved how many game options they had to choose from. They also had a live band, Redd, come on and play for awhile. They were phenomenal! Overall, a cool spot for a drink, to socialize, hear live music and bring your dog.

A great place for a good beer and some conversation! Great beer selection and wine too. Great restaurants within walking distance. Start or end your night in this low key brewery. Cheers!

Our favorite brewery in RVA. The owner is always so kind, friendly, & knowledgeable . Dogs are always welcomed. The beer is great and changes with season. If you love and want to support real RVA local businesses - Garden Grove is your place. Also, they offer fun board games!

Hidden gem. If your looking for a low key, chill spot to sit and enjoy a great beer, look no further. Robust menu of beer styles. Board games, plenty of indoor and outdoor seating and a super chill vibe. If I want to avoid Scott's Addition (I normally do), I come here.

Friendly brewpub in a industrial space, is spacious, but the brewery area looks huge. Nice varied selection of beers, with lots of hoppy and sour beers to choose from, along with a few Belgians and dark beers. My beer wasn't cheap, but it was a vintage sour, and it tasted great so no problem there. I don't think they offer food. I like the bar top, made with funky pictures and brewery stuff. I have no clue how they got a beer tray from the old Boswell brewery, but you can check it out in the can.

Really cool place outside of downtown Richmond. I stopped by while on a visit from Delaware. Plenty of room to enjoy a beer. I had a flight because of the wide variety of options. The best of the bunch was the gingerbread Pumpkin Imperial Porter. It was very tasty!

I love breweries that have funky different beers. I don't want a hundred different IPAs. Strangeways has so many styles of beers that there is something for everyone! Staff was very knowledgeable and they were patient with me while I was being so indecisive. Check out their swag while you're there

An amazing brewery that helped to start the trend which recently made Richmond, VA the World's top brewery destination. Great innovative brews from unique stouts to American IPA's. A well done project from start to finish. We'll managed, we'll run and best of all the Best Pub Fare anywhere...the innovative Vietnamese Cuisine that brought breweries and gastro pubs to Richmond...a must visit...

Really interesting brewary in Richmond, definitely recommend. They had about 20 beers on tap, great stouts, great sours and nice one offs like a gelato chocolate. Cool set up as well. Bartender was super nice.

I have loved the place for years. The staff is always friendly. Their swag is very nice. The variety of beer that they have is awesome. They keep a handful of core beers but I love how they are always experimenting. I really like the syrup that they put into their berliner weisse. Once the lockdown is past, this is a great place to go and relax. Nice outside section. They even offer some snacks.

LOVE this place! Food is great, service is awesome and we absolutely love the beer. Join the Beer Club, it's worth it!

We went to Three Notch'd for Trivia Night on a Wednesday evening. It was fairly busy, but space is big and so did not feel crowded. The beer and dry cider was excellent. My husband took home a 6-pack to enjoy later in the week. The food was mostly excellent, with a few things that were only pretty good. Get the BBQ panini and the strawberry salad. Just do it. We all enjoyed the trivia, even the teenagers. The wine was terrible. Truly. But I should have known better than to order wine at a brewery. Otherwise, a wonderful spot and we would totally go again.

Another great brewery in Richmond, Va. I stopped in at the West Broad location for lunch. It was not crowded and I was greeted by a friendly bar tender as soon as I entered the taproom. The taproom is in a turn of the last century warehouse. The decor is a cool mixture of modern and vintage industrial. Lots of natural sunlight in the large, open taproom area. There are some low tables with chairs, as well as long, counter height community tables. They also have some outdoor seating with a view of the parking lot and West Broad St. Not a great view, and it was a little noisy from car traffic, so I sat inside. Three Notch’d has a surprisingly large selection of non-alcoholic brews for those wishing to avoid a beer buzz. Perfect for the Designated Driver who still wants a beer. I ordered the Grilled BLT with fries and a pint of Ghost of the James. The food and beer were excellent. And they have a great selection of brewery schwag if you want to show your support for Three Notch’d in the form of a T-shirt, sticker, or etc. I highly recommend this brewery/taproom. This was my second visit here, and I’ll be back again.

Son took me here for Father's Day. Place is really nice. Staff was great. Food was super. Menu has a little something for everybody and have vegan and gluten free choices. Beer selection was decent and what I had was really good. My wife ended up taking home a few 4 packs of her favorites. I also noticed what looked like a stocked shelf of different Bourbons. The part I really liked is they actually have their own parking lot which is hard to find in this area. Over all a nice place. Will be back soon to try their pizza.

Ok this is my new favorite go to VEGAN place. They have sooo many vegan options. See my pic of the menu. They also make their own beer and their beers are very unique and perfect with pizza. They have more than just pizza on the menu and several different options for vegans. My boyfriend is not vegan and there’s plenty for him to choose from as well. It’s just a well-rounded restaurant with great vibes, beautiful artwork, and a great local place to come too, if you are visiting Richmond.

​Mekong has a lot going for it! The ambiance is great, and since the place is so large, you can likely get a table even during peak hours. The beer bar with its decent selection definitely sets it apart from other Asian restaurants. ​We enjoyed the food—it was delicious, although it wasn't as spicy as we had asked for. The huge menu offers a lot of variety, but it can also be a little overwhelming. The portions seemed moderate for the price, and maybe even a bit small compared to similar places. ​Unfortunately, the service was a bit disappointing. We felt rushed to order, with our waiter checking on us three times even when it wasn't that busy. After the food had been served, no one came back at all to check whether everything was okay. ​Overall, it's obviously a popular spot with a nice atmosphere and good food. Despite the service issue (might not be the normal), I'd still say it's worth a visit.

They have beers, if you’re a beer lover, this is the place. Fried Calamari was good, crispy, well seasoned, not too salty. Quail was gamey which I am not a fan of. Gỏi ngó sen was a rip off, only a lil ngó sen, the rest were carrots, celeries and cucumbers,and of course the shrimps were farm raised. Surely made for Americans, not authentic. Service was above average , I would come back to try other dishes.

Well packed Vietnamese restaurant, the seating reminds one of an old school Cantonese restaurant. Wooden tables, high top tables and bar seating. It can be a tight fit between tables. Friendly wait staff. Food was good, but not deeply spiced/heat. More....aimed at a Caucasian audience. Still, my beef was nicely done/presented, good texture. The pickled carrot was quite good. Apparently a great selection of unusual beer can be had.

Overall 4.6/10 - A mixed experience with decent food but hindered by slow service and a less authentic atmosphere for a Vietnamese dining spot. Atmosphere 4.6/10: Styled more like a Chinese eatery rather than a Vietnamese restaurant, which may confuse some guests. Staff appeared friendly, adding a positive note to the ambiance. Service 3.8/10: While the menu was clearly detailed with helpful images, the absence of desired menu items and notably slow service detracted from the dining experience. Pho 6.7/10: The pho stood out as a highlight, featuring a flavorful broth and well-prepared meat, contributing positively to the meal. Dumplings 6.8/10: Another high point, the dumplings were perfectly crispy and delicious, accompanied by a tasty sauce. Value 5.1/10: Despite the good quality of the dishes, the overall dining experience was diminished by service issues, impacting the perceived value of the meal.

Didn't eat inside, it was packed. But my to go order was fast. Got home and broth was still hot and cold touches was separated and stayed chilled. I appreciate that in a meal.

This is my favorite Vietnamese restaurant in RVA. I’ve been coming here regularly for 12 years. The food is always consistently fantastic. I have yet to order something I did not like. I Love trying the different beers they have on tap. It can get quite busy even on weekdays so service can be slow at times but it is well worth the wait in my opinion. Restaurant can use some updating but I like that they have lots of seating and can accommodate large groups. We have Never had to wait to be seated. Lots of taps And a well stocked bar. If you have not been to this restaurant you need to try it at least once and you won’t regret it.

Spring rolls were very tasty! Pho slightly missed the mark for me. Incredible selection of food and beer though!

We hosted a baby shower Blue Bee, and the experience was absolutely incredible. From start to finish, the venue exceeded our expectations. It was spotless, well-organized, and had the perfect atmosphere for our gathering of around 50 people. A huge shoutout to Mackenzie and Taylor—they were both spectacular! Their support and coordination throughout the planning and setup made everything smooth and stress-free. They were attentive, professional, and genuinely a pleasure to work with. Our party of 4 went to Hops in the Park in Henricus Park to taste all the beers and ciders of all the vendors out there and Blue Bee Cider had the best ciders,hands down. Now that we know how tasty their ciders are,we will definitely go try the rest of their products as soon as possible.

I’m not sure where to start.. The staff was friendly and very helpful arranging everything for our wedding. I couldn’t have asked for more. Mackenzie was amazing to work with and she was so thorough with all the little details from something as simple as table cloths to making sure tables were rearranged at the correct time. The venue is absolutely gorgeous and speaks for itself, our family and friends loved it. The wines and ciders we had were great, we most definitely got a few extra bottles to take home with us afterwards. There are multiple options with weddings or any other event at Blue Bee Cider which my husband and I thought was great as we did have a smaller wedding and a full buyout would’ve been more than what we needed. The location is great as well, I believe our hotel was less than 15 minutes away. This worked out very well as we had family and friends coming in from out of state. Also there are so many places for beautiful photographs at the venue and right outside the venue. 10/10 recommend Blue Bee to anyone who is looking at have any type of event as they do have the different event spaces available.

Went to Buskey Cider with my friend and we loved it!! The best cidery in Richmond. Our favorite cider was Watermelon Rosemary. DELICIOUS. Definitely check this place out. The staff was nice, high energy, and knowledgeable. Highly recommend!!

Great spot for cider in Scott’s addition! They have a very long and diverse list of ciders and offer flights, so you’re bound to find something you like! There are plenty of indoor and outdoor spaces for hanging out, and the back courtyard is dog friendly. They don’t currently have any food or scheduled food trucks, so BYO snacks!

Buskey Cider is an awesome place to hang out and enjoy delicious hard cider! The staff are fantastic! They always have several ciders on tap as well as unique and seasonal items and you will enjoy their flights. The atmosphere is really relaxed and I see folks with their dogs often sitting around. If you are in a wheelchair, they have a spot and a ramp at the back of their building which makes access super easy. I highly recommend a visit if your cruising through Scotts Addition!

Fun brewery that has a lot of different ciders to try. There are lots of games you can play in the back, or you can stick board games at tables in the front. There are a lot of ciders to choose from and my favorite was the Gold Rush.

A must stop if in Richmond. Definitely doing a lot right with their whiskeys and looking forward to sipping some longer age statements as they progress. Tasting room is very good and staff is knowledgeable and enthusiastic. While I only had a short time to spend there; it was well worth the stop. Well above average whiskeys with Richmond character. Next trip is going to be a HazMat visit and some Ubers 😁

Cocktails were good, and their alcohol on its own was good too! The place is super cute and I love the atmosphere so much!!! I definitely recommend any of their cocktails, and the pure rye drink was delicious! But unfortunately whoever was working there on 9/8/25 at 6pm was a little rude. We asked about their other alcohol and she just said "lots of different things, we do that for a reason" and then stopped talking. We were going to purchase something but that kinda put us off since we didn’t get to learn about it. I would understand if she had a bad day or was shy, but she was so much more talkative to the people who came in after us. I promise we weren't rude, we were just tired from being in a car for 72 hours. We tried to make conversation and she ignored us but talked to the next people a lot :( I’m unsure what we did, but it definitely soured the whole experience.

I know I'm giving out way too many of these five star reviews here lately. This distillery is great if you like 'traditional' aged whiskeys such as wheat based, bourbon and rye. They have variations of each with different barrell aging, strengths, etc. They do a great choice of sample flights and cocktails so you definitely want to stop by here if you like these type liquors. Also be aware there's no food here but they do have a great little area to relax and have your cocktail.

Great whiskey. Very pricey. Didn't buy. I didn't appreciate that there are so many tastings available for bottles that aren't available for purchase. I felt like the mediocre stuff was for sale. The good stuff was only available for expensive tastings. Some tastings are $19 for a half ounce. Staff was attentive and friendly.

Cool spot. Lots of different choices, cocktails, flights etc... No food but there was a food truck outside. Not sure how often they are there. The "Holland" line whiskeys were smoother imo than the straight stick wheat, corn and rye. Good atmosphere and very knowledgeable staff. Made for a fun afternoon.

Stopped in for a tasting while visiting from Charlotte. 100% Wheat, Corn and Rye flight. Hunter and Scott bourbon and Whiskey. Dara was super friendly, smart, beautiful and so so informative and the tasting was exactly what I needed.

My favorite brewery in Richmond, hands down. Curtis and Sara are incredible owners who create a welcoming atmosphere — the kind of place where you walk in and instantly feel like you're among friends. They offer an impressive variety of beers: IPAs, DIPAs, sessions, lagers, and imperials. My go-to is the 6th Lord — a perfect daily drinker. The space is huge, making it ideal for group hangouts or just a chill night with a couple of friends. It’s also kid-, dog-, and bike-friendly, with a game room tucked in the back to keep everyone entertained. And if you're hungry? Their pizzas are legit. Highly recommend. See you there!

Really cool joint. Great atmosphere, seems like it was an old industrial building back in the day. Beautiful exposed brick and machinery from back in this buildings hay day. Beer was wonderful, American IPA that is not overly hopped but still has some good bitterness to it. Parking seems like it might be tough if it gets busy but was perfectly fine when was there.

Now, Reilly and Tyler, those two young whippersnappers, they joined me for a tipple at Basic City Beer. We each had two beers, and let me tell ya, those brews were smoother than a buttered biscuit on a Sunday mornin'. Reilly had a stout that was so dark, it looked like it'd been brewed in the depths of Hades. Tyler, bless his heart, went for a hoppy IPA that made his mustache twitch with delight. The place itself? Well, it's got that old wear house feel, like it's been around since the dinosaurs roamed the Earth. The wooden beams creak, and the walls whisper secrets of bygone days. And there she was, the lovely lady behind the bar, with eyes as bright as a harvest moon. She poured our beers with a grace that'd make a swan jealous, and she even let us sample 'em before we committed to a full pint. Ain't that hospitality for ya? Now, we didn't eat a lick while we were there. No sir, we were too busy exploring the back room. And let me tell ya, that back room is a treasure trove. Ping pong tables as far as the eye can see! Reilly and Tyler, they fancied themselves ping pong champions, but truth be told, they played like a couple of drunken squirrels tryin' to dance a jig. Balls were flyin', paddles were flailin', and laughter echoed off the walls like a chorus of tipsy angels. And don't get me started on the amenities! Two bathrooms, sonny! Not one, but two! You could take your pick: the one with the floral wallpaper that smells like grandma's potpourri, or the other one with the flickering light bulb that gives you a sense of impending adventure. And that shuffleboard table—oh, it's a thing of beauty. We slid those pucks like seasoned sea captains navigating treacherous waters. But the pièce de résistance? The bean bag game! You know the one, where you toss those little bags into a hole like you're flingin' corn at a barn door. Reilly and Tyler, they were fierce competitors. Faces red, brows furrowed, they chucked those bean bags with the determination of men who'd lost their spectacles in a haystack. And when one finally landed in the hole, they hooted and hollered like they'd won the lottery. And the beer, my friend? Oh, it flowed like a mountain stream after a spring rain. Smooth, crisp, and as refreshing as a dip in the swimming hole. I tell ya, I'd come back to Basic City Beer faster than a jackrabbit on a hot skillet. So, if you find yourself wanderin' those creaky floors, raise a glass to Reilly, Tyler, and that lovely lady behind the bar. Been a year of coming in. People are always good. Beer is always fresh. Things are straightforward and you can meet friends just by being you. The speciality beers that rotate are better than you’d imagine. I’d say go towards medium to fuller body brews and keep your dog ready for treats.

Really good pizza. Good beer too, although often the selection is a bit too narrow toward IPAs. I will say, last night there was a decent bourbon barrel stout that I enjoyed.

I really enjoy the food and FOH staff, and probably everyone and everything there minus the head pizza guy. This review is solely because of him because I go here every so often for events, trivia, and just to hang out with friends. I dont understand his problem with me but he continues to go out of his way to be a completely and utterly rude, aggressive, drunk old man. If I try to bus my own pizza tray, he rips it out of my hands. Ive helped a dnd event where he kept asking me why I was there and how we didnt need 3 people to host the event...? Im sorry im contributing to the establishment by buying pizza. I feel very uncomfortable when he is around, he is always staring so aggressively. Drinks on the job constantly so maybe thats why? Very miserable old man whatever the case. I really hate going to Basic City because of this specific individual so no more!

I went last weekend for drinks and what’s reminded that it is such a hidden gem in Richmond! I love all of their drinks and the atmosphere is cozy and cool! The atmosphere was beautiful, and the live band was very talented and a pleasure to listen to. The food was exceptional. The fries were quite good; however, the fried chicken nuggets had an unpleasant unusual taste, as if the frying oil might have been old. I would consider returning, but only if the frying oil is refreshed to ensure better fried items.

An expansive and comfortable restaurant and pub with amazing local craft beer, $2 beer specials and the best smoked sausage since Grandma cooked it. If you remember the good old days, this is a step through time. Kid's meals and small plates run about $7-$8 and are just right for a good meal that's not a plate of fried food that ruins your health. Blue grass music on Thursdays and I'll be back to review and enjoy along with another small plate and a Blond brew for warm evenings. Lovely outdoor seating avoids the sun and options for comfort are the best I've seen in decades. There's something to fit the ease of all. My photos were taken at 4pm upon their opening. Google the location and go! It's only a few blocks from the crowded Chesterfield Town Ctr and at Extra Billy's Smokehouse and pub, the parking is easy and comes with shade. No hot car return for home! Right by Southern States, this is a great place for any age. The outdoor patio makes a simple choice for breeze and carefree dining. Best review I recall posting for restaurants. Take a tour inside and look at the brewery too! Bring the truck because there's plenty of room here for parking!

Service was good but the food left a lot to be desired. My wife ordered the turkey slices and I ordered sliced brisket. The meat was COLD??? The baked potatoes were obviously sitting forever and shoved in a microwave before sending them out. My side salad was not even cut up. It’s like the kitchen staff did the bare minimum. When the waitress brought me the check I asked if the servers had to share tips with the kitchen and she said yes so I told her I wasn’t putting the tip on my card and I gave her a $20 bill. I told her that I did not want it shared with the kitchen and if the manager had a problem with that I would tell him the same thing.

Brisket was mid. Pulled pork was good. Food and appetizer came out very, very slow despite it being 530pm and us being one of only about six tables. Given that the BBQ and sides had to have been cooked much earlier this was surprising. Place is in desperate need of a deep clean. Table was sticky. Some sauce like substance was on the table side lampshade. Bathrooms need attention. Service was very good despite the delay.

I went here multiple times as a child and remember it being good. Saw some bad reviews on here but decided to give it a try myself just to see. Me and my wife went in and tried a flight of all five of the homebrewed varieties. All of them were very good, better than I had expected. Not one disappointed. I would not come back to eat food here. The burnt ends were okay but my brisket was probably the worst I've ever had. Just dry and tasteless. As others have said, I couldn't taste a bit of smoke. Had to drown it in sauce and still couldn't finish it. My wife's pulled pork sandwich was not very good either. Sides were decent. We did receive excellent service. I wouldn't come here again for food, that was about a 0/5. But if your into craft beers they do have some pretty good ones here.

My family's absolute favorite BBQ place. The food is great but more importantly the staff is more than welcoming. The hushpuppies are the best. Thank you for being such a great place.

After going to a concert at River City Sports Complex a few friends messaged us and let us know they were at steamvale so we zipped on over to hang with them. It has a very nice setup and once we got there they had a '80s/90s band playing. It wasn't overly busy but the place was pretty rocking with these guys. Everyone seemed to enjoy their beers and my wife liked their sours as well. They did have a food truck outside in the back with some seating. You order at the bar and then go pick it up at the truck once it's ready. It's a decent sized Brewery. They have tons of board games like most so you can spend some time and hang out. Was a little hard to see in the evening they have a few lights outside but they're not very bright so you just have to kind of look for it. Would highly recommend them give him a shot breweries are always different to everyone's taste but we seemed to enjoy this one.

I attended a high school athletic club spirit night at Steam Bell. It was my first time there. It was kid/pet friendly which was great! They had a lot of indoor seating as well as outdoor seating. They offered games and their was a band playing as well. The selection of drinks was big, and they offered other drinks in addition to beer. The menu was big and very easy to read. I liked that I was able to order both my food and drinks all together. If you do not want alcoholic beverages, they had water coolers available, as well as bottled sodas and water for purchase. What I ordered was so good!! I ordered the Truffle Parmesan Fries they were cooked perfectly and crispy, and served with a garlic mayo dip- delicious! I also ordered the Smoked Gouda Mac & Cheese Bites, they were very good too. They came with a dipping sauce. The flatbread pizza was very good and I was able to choose up to 3 toppings. I also ordered a dessert- the Beignets with chocolate and caramel sauces. I did not have to wait long for my order. The prices for the food were good, $8 for each item, except the beignets were $5. Every thing I ordered was large enough to share with another person. My drink I ordered was a fruity sangria. This is a great place to gather with friends to hang out. The whole atmosphere was very good. I’m definitely a returning customer!

The Jeep events they held with River City Wranglerz was great! Great atmosphere and staff. Prices are great for the amount you get and you can carry the alcohol on the patio area too which is awesome during summer and spring!

New location in Scott’s Addition. Excellent cocktails with interesting mixtures. A whole bunch of different kinds of martinis from traditional to non-traditional, beautiful setting and strong drinks. That is the good the bad is. It’s very hard to get a table and you can only order a drink if you have a table because you have to use the QR code The other bad is it took 20 minutes after ordering to get a drink. It even took longer for my friends to get their tricks. Yes, it’s a new place and they have to figure out their kinks.

We went for family and friends and were so impressed on the charming space, friendly staff and especially the quality of the cocktails. Was so comfortable and clean with both outdoor and indoor seating. We ordered the “So Fresh and So Clean” and the “Jala-Piña Rita”. They were both so refreshing and well made. We used Cirrus vodka for our wedding and have enjoyed it time and time again since that day! From their pop ups, buying bottles to enjoy cocktails at home, their new tasting room, or at bars across Richmond and more! If Cirrus is on the menu or available - we’re ordering it. Their new ballast tasting room will be our spot all summer long, dog friendly, calm casual and laid back. The new drinks are delicious - the strawberry sour is the perfect summer choice. We adore this company, the owners, their product, their tasting rooms - just it all!

The new tasting room at Ballast is such a vibe! The space is gorgeous, the atmosphere is super inviting, and the drinks were so good. One of the drinks I had was the “Oh My Cod Becky” and wow — it was incredible. The service at their soft opening event was great too — everyone was friendly and on it. Can’t wait to go back again and again this summer!!

Absolutely love Cirrus Vodka's new tasting room! The space is beautiful, and the Paloma I had on the terrace was one of the best I’ve ever tasted. Such a great atmosphere—can’t wait to go back!

Only accepts orders from QR codes on tables so if it's busy you can't order and have to stand around waiting. You can't sit across the courtyard either, just at the handful of tables inside and directly outside Cirrus. No cash since it's online order only. Drinks are all well made and enjoyable. Enjoyed this location when it was Blue Bee and enjoy it even more with this new layout inside.

The new Cirrus tasting room at Ballast is awesome. The vibes are excellent, the expanded drink menu has something for everyone and overall they have really elevated the tasting room experience complete with new glassware and a spicy version of their already tasty vodka. We got to go as part of a sneak peek and can’t wait to go back!

Went here alone. The service was quick and the beer was good. Ordered the wrong thing and I do not know how. The prices and food description did not match.

My food was good. I ordered buffalo wings and crab bisque soup. I did order a $12 bowl of crab bisque however and this was absolutely not crab lol I have no idea what it is, but some chicken soup. I was so excited for my crab bisque too.

Nachos were delicious along with the burgers we ordered. Pink lemonade margarita will do the job 😉. We tried the spicy bbq burger and the French dip mushroom burger.

Nothing bad to say. Was in the area and wanted a cheat day so I stopped by. Nice options for beer and drinks, friendly waitstaff, prompt service, all good! I had chicken fingers and some kinda loaded brownie. Everything was fresh and delicious.

Great Burger 💛💛💛💛💛 Apple pie 💛💛💛💛💛 I had a great time at *Capital Ale*! I tried the *blue and black steak salad*, and it was delicious—the steak was perfectly cooked, and the flavors of the blue cheese were a fantastic combination. The *chicken tenders* were crispy on the outside and tender on the inside, definitely one of the best I’ve had. For dessert, I couldn’t resist trying the *apple pie*, and it was the perfect way to end the meal—sweet and comforting. The service was friendly and attentive, though I would recommend coming without a rush. Overall, a great spot to enjoy hearty food in a relaxed setting. I’ll definitely be back!

We came here for the first time last night for my wife's birthday. She has been wanting to try it so our party of four came to eat. We all had a good time. We aren't drinkers but enjoyed the food. Our server was friendly and helpful. The food was delicious and cooked to order. Our server recognized my iced tea was weak and mostly water. She made it right by bringing me a different one and then we weren't charged for it! Overall, we had a great time here with our family celebration. Thanks!

A proper football club right here in Richmond! Great selection of European beers and all the soccer you could want to watch! We came in for the first premier league game of the season and were welcomed by so many friendly people! We didn’t try any food this time as we had just eaten not long ago but will definitely try some menu items next time!

Food ok. Basic bar fair. Atmosphere decent. Nothing you won't see anywhere else. Service? Absolutely shit. Waitress would literally just throwing things on the table as she was walking by. No hello. No how are yall. Nothing. Like literally dropped a plate on her way through without a word. What do you want to drink? Ok. What do you want to eat. Here. At least put some effort in your job. I get it, its late and a bunch of drunks showing up, but that should be an easy time to get extra tips. Drunk people always spend more. But you stood there as I wrote out the tip on the receipt? Thats the most you even tried to pay attention to us. Not coming back.

Stopped in for lunch when visiting for a wedding and wow did we love it! The ambiance is a classic pub feel and the decor is fun to look over during your meal. I had the fish and chips which was perfectly cooked and yummy, my partner had the Cottage Pie which was also delicious and the ideal comfort food. The staff was friendly and attentive! We sat in the bar area at a high top. They were setting up for a soccer watch party upstairs it seemed and the place was full of folks waiting to go up. Super fun environment!

They make a great fish and chips here! It was definitely better than the last fish and chips I had in London. The fish was fresh and wasn’t greasy at all. I was in a hurry, and the servers got me my food quickly, even though the place was packed for a soccer game.

Union Market is a great lunch spot! I’m a big fan of the indoor/outdoor dining, and the neighborhood market feel. The vegan club sandwich was fantastic, but I will always be a fries over chips gal. Richmond restaurants lack parking lots, so it can be tough to find decent parking. I would return, and I am interested in trying other menu items and drink options!

Cute sandwich shop with outdoor and indoor seating. Coffee, beer and wine is available. Great for lunch, an early dinner, or a meeting with friends. I got two sides because I just couldn't chose! One was the days special a vegan Cajun red beans and rice and the other was their white bean artichoke and arugula salad. The Cajun beans were spicy just as one would expect! The salad was refreshing and lemony. Perfect for the warmer weather. I'd love to visit this spot again. Great selection and great prices . The service was swift as well!

A market with beer, wine, and lots of other beverage choices, snacks, and more is on one side. The other side is an indoor/outdoor bar and restaurant with excellent sandwiches, soups, salads and even breakfast. The outdoor area is well-mannered dog friendly with water bowls available.

One of my favorite places in Church Hill and Richmond! They make their version of a “Big Mac” on the weekends! It is delicious! The beef is fresh (never frozen) and the accoutrements add such a great flavor. On Sundays they offer live music ( usually 1 or 2 piece groups). The staff are very friendly and make Union a great place to gather with close friends or for a family to meet for a reasonable priced and very tasty meal! I would encourage you to drop by if you haven’t.

Union Market is one of my favorite spots, the sandwiches, salads, and everything on the menu are always incredible (and as a vegan, I really appreciate how many delicious options they have!). Today’s visit was extra special. I came in with my three-year-old son, who is learning to order for himself and do things independently. The staff could not have been more kind and gracious to him, both the bartender and the person at the register treated him with so much respect and patience. It really left such an impression on me as a parent. It’s rare to find a place that not only has amazing food but also creates such a warm, welcoming environment. Thank you, Union Market, for making our day brighter and bring so sweet to my guy!

Every time I go out to eat in Richmond, it's weird as hell. Union is the only exception. The staff are nice, and the food is really good. My favorite place to buy a fun afternoon drink (coffee sodas and kombucha).

Fulton is a regular for us after our rides on the Capital Trail, so we decided to spend Valentines there as well! Excellent pizza as always and the Valentines menu was a great addition

My husband, Justin, and I rented Triple Crossing for our wedding reception last November, and it was nothing short of incredible! We were looking for an industrial space that we could transform into our own with a Wes Anderson-inspired tropical vision, and it absolutely delivered. Chelsea and Dani were amazing to work with, and their on-site team was so accommodating on our big day. The space was the perfect size for our 100-person guest count, and we had an absolute blast with a pizza buffet, live band, photo booth, and temporary tattoo bar. Our friends and family are still raving about the appetizers, wood-fired pizzas, and—of course—the Falcon Smash!

We had a 40+ person soccer team dinner and gathering in their event space and it was wonderful. Service top notch, great beer and delicious food. They even have a nice whiskey list. Cornhole and music and lots of space. Highly recommend for an affordable and fun group option.

Fantastic spot! Great venue, solid beer, amazing people, epic pizza. Seriously the honey hit pepperoni is the best pizza I have ever had. 🙌

TBH, I was at that place a few days ago to meet up with a bunch of friends. There was a waiter who was at our table. He's a person of color, about 5'9", and has glasses. When he asked for our drinks, I told him mine, and then a few people from the same table ordered their drinks. He gave everyone on the table who ordered a drink except me. I waited an extra 10 minutes, and I came to find him and remind him that he forgot my drink. He gave me the side eye and said ok. Two minutes later, he gave me my drink. He had the same attitude towards me when we were ordering food. I quickly talked to the manager about that waiter and asked her if she could take my gratuity off my check, and she apologized and said it's going to be off. Thank goodness I handled it as maturely as possible. Don't get me wrong, the food and atmosphere are good. It was that one day when the waiter wasn't as nice to me as he was to my friends. I will plan to go back sometime in the future. It was just a bad apple. Sorry for the long post, but I'm just sharing my experience there.

Love Triple Crossing Fulton! The falcon smash is delicious, the pizza is great and the service is excellent 👌🏼 have been there many times now and love the atmosphere and vibes. Profs and Pints is also so fun to go to there! It's a great spot.

I'm gluten, dairy and soy free. I had the winter harvest salad with shrimp. It was okay, nothing to write home about. The shrimp was served chilled. I asked about fries, they are cooked in a dedicated gluten free fryer, however they use soybean oil, so I couldn't eat them.

We orders some drinks - beer was good and fresh. The Strawberry Fields Forever was very fleshing and tasted. The crab dip was good but there wasn’t enough bread and we had to order more and then we had too much. So work on that dip to bread ratio. We only needed 3 more pieces. We shared the wedge salad and Fire Engine 10 burger. The salad and burger came out together. The salad was average, the pork rinds were an odd topping. The burger was fine. Nothing amazing. It seemed to be a premade patty. Overall it was a good meal and we enjoyed our evening out.

Don’t let the stylish decor fool you—Crafted is mediocre at best. Let’s start with the positives. The Brussels sprout appetizer was solid. Nicely cooked with good flavor and not over-seasoned like you find at some places. The side salad was fine—fresh but forgettable. Now the entrees. I ordered the Fig & the Pig burger, which sounded promising. I love the idea of a fig spread on a burger, and that part was actually tasty. But the patty? It tasted like a frozen burger—dry, flavorless, and uninspired. The bun was just as generic. In the end, it was a boring burger on a boring bun, barely saved by a swipe of fig spread and some bacon. Others at my table had the meatloaf (dry and boring), a Caesar salad with chicken (only slightly better than the side salad), and a few other dishes that were equally bland. In short, Crafted feels more like a place that looks good on Instagram than one that actually delivers on flavor.

Had a great opportunity to visit this establishment on August 24th, with my wife & daughter. We were quickly given an very comfortable seat arrangement, considering I'm in a wheelchair. The server was very knowledgeable of the menu & our drinks 🍸 came out with no mistakes. The bathrooms were handicapped accessible & clean. Food came to the tablet in a timely manner & was extremely delicious. The server check us for additional drinks & to check on our meal with no rush. Truly look forward to return to this establishment & enjoying another amazing meal.

When they had just opened we had a nice experience, food was good, excellent service and atmosphere. Last weekend it was subpar. The service was horrible, took forever for the waitress bring our crab dip, we didn't get enough bread with it so we asked d for more, after having waited 20 minutes, we had to ask the hostess, got a few more slivers for an extra $1.50 we spent most of our time there waiting for the service. We will not go back unless there are some serious changes to the management of staff and service.

Nice place and the food was good but saw our waitress 2 times. Once to order and once to bring food. I had to go find the waitress to pay as I hosted a lunch meeting and had to have all my clients leave to go back to meetings while I tracked down the waitress. I would definitely go back but I hope the service is better.

The food was good, not just typical bar far. Cocktails were excellent. The staff was personable and polite, though service was slow. This may have been a kitchen and bar issue over the promptness of the wait staff. Our party was seated near a boisterous party who felt their conversations were interesting enough that they needed to be broadcast loudly for the restaurant to enjoy. It was not enjoyable attempting to hold a conversation with members of our party keeping our voices at a polite level and yet not being able to hear one another over the din.

Attended their NYE event with the VIP upgrade. Food was yummy and the drinks were good quality for being included in the entry fee. Festive holiday decor was throughout the venue. Live band downstairs and a DJ upstairs playing themed 90s music. The VIP host was friendly but could have gotten into the theme a bit more himself (costume at least!). Bathrooms were clean and lines were short if at all. Bar staff were very courteous. The outdoor space was unique, the private party yurts is a feature not seen before. While we didn't experience them personally, their presence adds to the atmosphere.

Absolutely 10/10 experience. Patrick was an amazing server and made our night wonderful. He was very attentive, recommended some amazing foods and made sure our glasses stayed full. I would come here for Patrick alone, but the food was absolutely amazing as well!

If you like being given attitude by the hostess this is the place for you! My first time going here, had no idea where the "front entrance" was, we apparently went through the back, and seated ourselves as there was no hostess outside, and only 3 or 4 other parties seated "inside" the hostess literally had to say to myself and my party, "I didn't know you were here, you're supposed to come through the front door." They have a hut outside clearly for the hostess, we stood around for a while no employees said anything or offered us assistance...I guess customer service is not on top of their list at Brambly Park. Food was decent. Service was slowww.

Vegan options: pasta with red sauce Wanna add veggies to that pasta. Nope. Mushrooms? Nope. Anything? Nope. They have added vegan cheese! 🙌 And then added honey to their bread 👎 Why add vegan cheese and then make your pizza dough not vegan? I’ve never even heard of a company adding honey to their pizza dough? Why add something that just eliminates a group of people? Now I know not all vegans abstain from honey but a good portion do. Plant based diets are growing why aren’t food selections? I hate going to restaurants and having a single option. And then people looking at my plate and saying “oh I could never be vegan it’s so boring. You’re eating noodles and red sauce. Yuck. I need more flavor”. Yeah so do i.

Brambly Park is fantastic! I've been twice in three weeks, outside both times in this unseasonably pleasant weather. Once we were in the yurt, seating 8, which was really cool with a devoted server. The next time, a group of about 12 of us hung had picnic tables near the container bar, where Caleb and the rest of the crew working the bar took great care of us. The food and drinks are great, and the prices are reasonable. Bobby on the events team was also great to work with when I had questions about reservations for our large-ish group. Brambly is such a gem in Scott's addition!

Connor's Heroes (a Richmond-based pediatric cancer nonprofit) hosted a large family event at Brambly Park in August 2025. The event was AMAZING! We had over 150 attendees in our event space, and working with the Brambly staff to coordinate the event was great! Questions were always answered in a timely manner and the staff was also available when needed. On the day of the event, the staff worked to ensure the event space was in excellent condition. The staff and team working the event were kind and courteous. Food was served HOT and replenished in a timely manner. Guests said the food and bar offerings were delicious! We would definitely host an event at Brambly Park again - it was an unforgettable event!

Phenomenal service, encapsulated within a vibrant atmosphere, both of which are paled by the incredible food. A hidden gem, in a city full of great restaurants. Worth every star. Shelby is a catalyst of warmth and service ... Keep shining!

I recommend this place. Outdoor seating.( That people do smoke at). Lots of indoor seating . English pub vibes. Friendly staff The prices were all very reasonable. Overall great spot. To be fair it was my first visit so I can't speak to all the food. The grilled cheese was delicious but it was just a sandwich. They did have a limited selection of a la carte sides. The sandwich could have used some chips.

Very busy time, long wait at the bar. Everything is ordered through the bar, which made the line longer. Unique concept with charcuterie style cheeses and meats. Very tasty! Beer selection is kind of limited.

The Cask is a very welcoming spot! They have a great selection of beers and we were surprised by the size of our sandwich. The staff was friendly and made you feel at home. Will be back!!

The “Fancy” Chicken biscuit was delicious. The egg was perfect and paired well with the spicy homemade sausage gravy and biscuit. The chicken itself was incredibly moist with a nice kick and crispy breading. The coffee wasn’t very exciting and the beers and wines were pricey, but overall a cool concept with a variety of choices to buy.

Came to the market which is first come first serve seating with the same menu as the fully booked saison. Two large plates and both meats were very over cooked and the dishes themselves didn’t make much sense. Over priced food for the quality (9/10 for atmosphere and 10/10 for the beer selection in both individual cans and to go packs)

Ordered the “Fancy” Chicken Biscuit and I wish I’d ordered two. It was the most delicious thing I’ve ever tasted. Moist, flavourful, filling, just perfect. And a great price too! Staff were friendly and the cafe had a very relaxed vibe to it. Would highly recommend going to get that chicken biscuit.

I was drawn in by aroma of fresh coffee. Was excellent! There is food menu and thousands of bottles of wine. Smiling staff, cozy atmosphere. City bus stop very close, i will b back soon!

Another accidental find when I was in Richmond and a happy one for sure. Enjoyed a latte while wondering if I should also drink a glass of wine or try some craft beer. I stuck to my coffee and a much needed glass of ice cold water, while enjoying a cool down from the heat of Richmond. Nice atmosphere and I felt very welcome here. I personally did not eat here but saw many of the other occupants food and it looked really good. Cool place to hand out and it was obvious that many people do just that here.

I’d say Saison Market has the best chicken biscuit I’ve had in a long time. It was so flaky, buttery and just the right amount of spicy! You can only get it on their brunch menu, as I sadly learned the first time I came here. Their hot chocolate was delicious as well.

Awesome beer and wine selection, also there is a good amount of cozy cafe style seating. Great place to have a drink, meet with friends I don't have or even write a screenplay that no one will ever read.

Stopped by for a cold one on a hot day. Big, open space inside, perfect for groups. Nice selection of beers. Lots of outdoor seating, but to hot for us. Since we had the doggo with us, we opted for a to-go order and took home some fresh cans. Loved the Tastee sour!

Located along Forest Hill Avenue in a nice suburb of Richmond, the structure has an industrial vibe with metal and polished concrete and sharp angles. There is a popular Mexican restaurant, Y Tu Mama, located within. On a beautiful Saturday afternoon there was plenty of foot traffic outside with activity in the neighboring businesses. The environment was pleasant and the service was super friendly. I’ve been a fan of the New England IPAs this summer and I tried the Lil’ Supernatural Freak hazy NEIPA and it was delicious. The indoor seating is limited and the place was fairly full. There is no bar, just an ordering counter, and there are no televisions or blaring music. There is seating upstairs, but it was closed off for a special event. I found a comfortable spot outside to enjoy my beer.

Great beer, sleek modern interior, kid friendly, and decent food. When we ordered from site on toast order was done but sat around.. recommend ordering at cashier. Food was decent- nothing to rave about but good execution. Salsas were yummy would want more quantity. Quesadillas and tacos were good. Beer and service was great. Parking is available but full - has to circle around a few times.

First trip to this brewery. Overall, a very nice place with good atmosphere. Honestly, we were both disappointed with our choice of beer. It's tough when opting for something different. Sometimes it works out great and sometimes not. My wife chose a frozen Sunshine Sorbet Tastee & I went with the Berry Mallow Tastee. Neither of us were thrilled. The flavor fell short of the mark. The food on the other hand was outrageous. We ordered Nachos for an appetizer and we both ordered a Carne Asada Quesadilla. We both said the same thing, It was one of the best quesadillas either of us have ever had. When settling the bill, the barkeep asked how everything was and I passed on that I was disappointed with the beer. He offered to give me something else, which I declined, but the gesture meant a lot. Next time we'll order different beers, but based on the care, the service and the quality of the food, there will be a next time.

This place is great, hands down, and usually that would be a 5 star but my second beer that was an ipa instead of a lager tasted burnt, something is off. This flavor I have tasted at bingo as well. Not great. So 4 stars. y tu mama was great and staff is great.

Weird pitch, but this brewery is a good spot even if you don’t drink alcohol. As someone who doesn’t drink going to a brewery is usually a boring & awkward experience. However, the Veil is an exception to this. I’ve been twice & had great experiences both times. First time they only had soda as a nonalcoholic option, which is fine because some breweries don’t even offer that.The second time I went the Veil had really good nonalcoholic brew, Ever Calm. It is made with crushed pineapple and passion fruit. I really enjoyed this drink because it was fruity & fun without being overly sugary. It’s also in a served draft glass, so I don’t feel like the odd man out by being the only person drinking out of a bottle. Silly I know, but it makes a difference. Of course the food at Y Tu Mamá is also incredible. During both visits I got the Chesterfield burrito without a tortilla — it’s one of the few foods where every bite is incredible. With super tender pork & plenty of cheese, what more could you ask for? 10/10 can’t wait to go again.

Food was definitely not made fresh. Definitely remake the food and then just heat it up as ordered. Don’t recommend getting food here. Ordered: Chesterfield Burrito, Arroz Con Pollo.

I'm new to Richmond and stopped by while walking my dogs. Plenty of shaded seating on the side outdoors and the friendliest of people...I had someone offer to carry out a bowl of water for my dogs while I had 2 leashes and a beer in tow. Inside was cool and caters to military, teachers, locals--you name it. If the light beer I got (I'm on Keto for 60 days so a light beer already blows half my daily carbs) is any indication, I'm excited to return Memorial Day off my diet to explore all the sours, IPAs, and darker things I enjoy. I had the best light beer here I've ever had, though I rarely order light. 5 stars for sure!

If you're a fan of more sweet hard ciders and/or sour ales, stop into Strangeways Brewing. They sell all kinds of beer and the menu is organized by flavor. I ordered a flight of all the tart beers and found them unique. The Lucky Charms one is unique and tastes like the cereal. The cider is excellent and I loved the Razzle sour ale. So refreshing! The space is one big room with plenty of tables and a corner of games. Most of the games are broken and come with missing pieces. The service was efficient and friendly enough. Staff didn't seem thrilled to have three kids at the brewery, but alas.

One of the biggest beer selections we have ever seen, all made in-house. The dark beer section alone is larger than some breweries entire selection. Did 10 samplings and every one were amazing, some of the best beers we have had. Loved the artsy interior. They have a patio area for those warm days. Nice staff. Only downside is they only have gas station type food, like nachos from a dispenser and large soft pretzels. Don’t worry there is a great barbecue place right nearby.

They have the widest and most unique selection! Also the bartenders are amazing and patient with all questions. Lots of space and live music too. 💕

In Richmond for a weekend getaway. Stopped into Strangeways and had great beers. By far, best part of the experience was Brian on the taps. Friendly, helpful and extremely nice guy. Would definitely recommend!

Most excellent selection of beers! Just one shy of 40 offerings! We had 10 of them. Absolutely loved 8 out of 10 we tried. The other two were still tasty. Particularly loved Gnar Shredder and Murder Hornet. Red Sangria is awesome, too. Check out the pictures. Pretty gnarly place and simply fun. Katy served us and she was a blast! Gotta love their motto - "Think strange. Drink strange."

The cozy space, soft lighting, and relaxed ambiance made it feel like dining at a friend's home--if that friend had an impeccable wine collection and a talent for exceptional cooking. The staff was not only knowledgeable but also effortlessly helpful. The meal itself was a journey of bold yet balanced flavors. We started with the honey butter and bread, a deceptively simple dish that left a lasting impression. The bread was served with a small bowl of whipped butter, lightly dusted with sea salt. At the bottom of the bowl, a pool of dark, rich molasses-honey infused the butter with a gentle sweetness, making every spread a perfect bite of salty, creamy, and sweet. The braised cabbage was an unexpected standout. Cooked in broth and miso butter, it had a melt-in-your-mouth texture and was elevated by manchego crunchy bites and a smear of olive paste. The flavors were deep and umami-rich. Next came the cavatelli Bolognese, a comforting and hearty dish. The pasta had a satisfying chew, coated in a rich, slow-simmered meat ragu and finished with fresh herbs. Every bite was deeply flavorful, making it the kind of dish that lingers in your memory long after the meal is over. If you're up for it, I dare you to dip the cavatelli into your leftover honey. One of the most creative dishes of the night was the pho-inspired beef and broth. The tender beef was paired with a subtly complex broth that was both deeply flavored and delicate. The balance of richness and warmth made it a true standout--an inventive take on a classic that felt both familiar and refreshingly new. No meal at Penny's would be complete without dessert, and the sweet offerings were just as memorable as the savory ones. The horchata Basque cake with ube was a masterpiece--creamy, caramelized, and infused with the warm flavors of cinnamon and vanilla. The addition of ube added a subtle earthy sweetness that made it even more special. The pink pearl apple dessert was another highlight. Thinly sliced pink pearl apples were arranged beautifully and topped with a silky tiki caramel sauce, saltan, and crunchy manchego bites reminiscent of granola. The combination of textures and flavors was both elegant and satisfying. Richmond may not have a Michelin-starred restaurant yet, but if it did, Penny's would certainly be in the running. Can't wait to see the menu offering for April!

Penny’s Wine Shop is such a cozy, welcoming spot—it instantly reminded me of the charming little wine bars in the West Village. I recently took my mom there for dinner, and we had an amazing experience. Our server, Mel, was incredibly kind and helpful. The selection of natural wines by the glass is fantastic, and the seasonal small plates were fresh, flavorful, and beautifully prepared. They also offer bottles to take home, which is a huge plus. Every dish was a hit, and I’m already looking forward to my next visit.

Dope wine shop/bar in RVA. Small bites were a treat but my focus was on the wine. Great selection of wines from around the world and staff that is very personable and makes sure you have a great experience. A little space to sit outside as well if the weather permits. Won’t be my last time here…

I had an incredible experience at Penny’s. The food was absolutely amazing – every dish was creative, full of flavor, and beautifully put together. You can tell the chefs really care about the details, from the way ingredients are paired to how the plates come out looking. The vibe is just right – relaxed but stylish, with a cool energy that makes it perfect for a night out with friends or a laid-back date spot. It feels modern without trying too hard, and the atmosphere really adds to the experience. On top of that, the staff couldn’t have been friendlier. Everyone we interacted with was welcoming, attentive, and made us feel right at home. Service like that makes all the difference and really rounds out the whole night. Penny’s is the kind of place that makes you want to come back and try everything on the menu. Definitely a Richmond gem.

Excellent stop for amazing, complex wines and flavor-forward small bites. Owner has lots of knowledge on wines, wine regions, wine varietals and a great palate. Looking forward to our next visit.

Cute shop with good vibes and service, nice wine selection. Loved that they have NA wines. But next time I would not go for a meal. Food wise menu was different than most of these reviews and not what we expected at all. We expected, from the pictures and knowing it's a Black owned business in a historic Black neighborhood, to see more elevated African American dishes. and if you want to go global, instead of the indian curry and mexican sopes, why not trini curry and kenyan ugali? The chef definitely has potential and something magical could happen here with the right intention.

Marvelous dinner experience. Thoughtful dinner entrees, appetizers and wine selection. We got the Korean beef short rib among other things. Innovative and eclectic flavor combinations. Can’t rave enough! Go go go! Amazing ambiance too <3

Enjoy the variety of items here at the store. Not a fan of the new sales system which asks to tip the cashiers. Employers should pay the employees enough, not waste customer's time asking for tips. I came in and bought a single can of soda... I don't think that deserves a tip. No shade to the employees. If a barista makes my coffee I'm going to give them a tip. If I am waited on at a restaurant, I'm going to tip... But for somebody to ring up my items, I'm sorry, that's crazy to even ask for a tip.

Great variety. Nice staff. Sometimes they have amazing local produce. Lots of grab and go items, grocery staples, snacks, and a large beer and wine selection. Cold brew and kombucha on tap. Customers don't always wear masks despite the sign asking folks to do so. Some residents in the Fan are just too entitled to care for the folks who take care of them.

I call it the snack shack! They have a wide variety of healthy snacks, locally made sweets, wine, beer, cider and tea and coffee. A great place to pick up gifts!

Love this little shop in the Fan. Has essential and unique selection of grocery items including local cheeses, ice creams, and wine. Also a great selection of craft beers in the walk cooler. Cute & convenient, recommend popping in!

Belle isle is by far the best tasting moonshine I’ve had .. the black berry drop was the sweetest and the smoothest one… had 3 shots of that lol …. 10/10 would come back for more …. They do sell them in bottles 🩷

We discovered Belle Isle when at Kings Dominion, of all places… we immediately went out and bought a bottle. So happy to finally check out the tasting room! Cozy and friendly vibes. Low-key. Get here now and enjoy some tasty moonshine! Side Note: The Honey Habanero is great for margaritas!

Came for a tasting with friends and really enjoyed everything we were given. It was a tasting of the canned cocktails they are about to release so it was neat to get a sneak preview. I also paid $5 to taste four of the flavored moonshines straight. Highly recommend the lemon lavender and the Yuzu ginger. I ended up buying a sampler pack of the moonshines. Very friendly service and great products.

Doing a tasting is the best way to try a variety in a smaller scale. Went with a group and we almost got one of everything. My favorite was Lemon drop, lemon lavender, spiced apple, and yuzu ginger. They have a good variety. The tasting is a good price $5 for 5 samples.

First time visiting Belle Isle and doing a tasting. Zoe was great! Love the canned cocktails. Highly recommend transfusion and ice pick ☺️

We did three flights and there was not a single moonshine we didn’t like! Ended up buying two bottles. The staff was super nice and helpful and answered all of our questions!

We visited January 2019. A lot of something for everyone here! Whether you like your beer in the form of a growler, can or bottle, they have a great selection. You can sample before buying the growler you want and what's on tap gets changed out often so you can try something new every time you visit. Plenty of parking is available.

If you are looking for great beers THIS is the place to go! Guaranteed that you'll see beers you've never seen before. There is a refrigerated section, so you can pick up some cold ones too. (They also have wine, but I can't speak to that.) Knowledgeable, friendly owner. This is the place to go for the good stuff.

Great place. The owners/ staff are very friendly and helpful. They have a very impressive selection of local/ regional beers as well as many big names from outside of VA. The growler selection is also very diverse and rotates with many seasonal beers. I come here almost every week.

Just stopped in looking for something specific. Although they didn't have it the man was really knowledgeable about beers and knew his breweries. Nice selection of beers! Highly recommend.

This is a great neighborhood beer and wine shop. Excellent selection of local and regional craft beers. Staff is friendly and knowledgeable. If you feel overwhelmed or unsure if what to pick just ask for a recommendation. Didn't spend much time in the wine section but it looked well curated.

With a name like that I had to check this place out. Turns out that their beer is actually pretty good. My favorites were the Vanilla Black Bear stout and the Something Pretty IPA. Friendly bartender but frankly weird, out of place music with rave optics on the TV over the bar which were a puzzle and annoying. Big fan of the logo.

Great team! Check out their Supreme Leader. A little boogie, but delicious! Nuclear was tasty too.

Freaking amazing! Great selection and range. Truly great beers. Even impressed me with some ipas that I normally won't drink. The staff is amazing and so nice! Seriously try this place!

Absolutely amazing service and beers!! We stopped in while traveling during happy hour and received great service from DJ. We wanted to stop the next day and grab some Togo beer. Farris let us come in a little early before opening to grab a pint at the bar and help set us up with Togo beer. Great conversation and beer! We will definitely be back! You guys have some great stuff going! Cheers!

Arguably the best beer selection in RVA. You can also fine old school drinks with amazing snacks. The owner is very helpful and always friendly. I highly recommend if you’re looking for specific types of drinks.

Just so people are aware: This shop was purchased and renamed by the new owner in late 2019, and is now Oxford Cellars. Still the same great product with awesome staff!

The best selection of wines and beer around!! Very well priced for an amazing value - and wines from around the U.S., but also other countries! My husband and I went to Portugal for a wine tasting tour not long ago, and discovered some amazing wines, Once Upon a Vine South carries an amazing selection of wines from Portugal!! AND -- not only do they carry an amazing selection of wine and beer, but you can also count on them for snacks and mixers for cocktails!! They carry many local products!! I called to place a pickup order for a case of wine, but couldn't remember the names of the wines we usually purchased. The gentleman on the phone asked what style of wine we usually liked to drink, then made some selections for us. Every bottle in that case was spot-on perfection! They really know what they're doing.

Extremely friendly local beer and wine shop that provides excellent customer service and a pleasant experience buying beer! Love the Friday afternoon wine and beer tastings and the knowledgeable staff in helping to choose a good bottle to buy. They are well connected and always receive rare beer that you can't find elsewhere. Newly added taps allow them to serve growlers as well. Can't recommend enough!

Expert staff. I’ve had so many good recommendations from them. They are helpful and friendly. They can order something they don’t carry. On Friday nights, the have a free wine tasting and there’s usually a beer tasting, too. Sometimes even a cider tasting. Don’t pass by the food section without taking a look. Great snacks to go with your beer or wine.

Great wine shop! The staff is very knowledgeable and always happy to make recommendations. The store is also organized by region and price, so you can easily fine a suitable wine for your needs.

I am a Whiskey guy. With no lite hand I say this is a top notch distillery. They do not specialize in whiskey They have an incredible range of spirits with a passion for doing something unique. We stayed for a good while and tried a lot of there products. No lie, I would put them in my top 5 for micro distilleries.

Fun tasting, lots of options for craft distilled spirits. Prefer the maple whiskey over other whiskeys, but all were tasty. Great food options. Sandwiches, pasta, etc..... the pasta was delish and one order is enough for two people unless you've been without food for some time, like in some hostage type situation. In that case I would recommend not sharing. Was great to be served by one of the distillers who was very knowledgeable and happy to share tidbits of his craft. Overall, highly recommended.

Love this place. An enormous selection of small batch handcrafted distilled spirits. Great bar atmosphere with very reasonable pricing, and super friendly folks. They also have a store with wines, beers and gourmet food items, including fresh made pastas and sauces to take home. Again, all at a fair price. This place has got it going on. One of my new favorite stops.

Not everything was great, but they have some bangers (hopped whiskey, casked gin, straight whiskey). But more than anything, these guys were so sweet and friendly that I'd happily return and share this place with others.

The quality of the distillery products would easily make this a 5 star review. I even purchased 5 bottles on my visit. This guy's have a lot of uniquely flavored liquor and its almost all at 80 proof, with the exception of the Lemoncello. There's some 'traditional' whiskey and rums along with the specialty flavors such as grappa, aquavit, etc. One of my complaints with this place is it's hard to find as it's combined with a pasta store and their sign is hard to see. Also while they do offer cocktails there's really no where to sit other than a small bar and one 2 person table outside.

Unique distillery sistered with a pasta shoppe. The distillery masters are very versed in their craft and are excited to share their knowledge and passion about each of the products. Take a seat at the bar, listen to their stories and be prepared to experience some very unique flavors.

All the spirits here are great. My personal favorites were the Sole Gin and the Rye Whiskey, but the Limoncello and Black Walnut Vodka were also incredibly solid options. The owners and bartender were incredibly knowledgeable and friendly.
