Nestled in the heart of Annapolis, the Maryland State House stands as a testament to American history and architectural grandeur. Completed in 1779, this remarkable structure is not only one of the oldest state houses in the nation but also a site where pivotal moments unfolded, such as George Washington's resignation from his military command and the ratification of the Treaty of Paris. The building boasts an impressive wooden dome, completed in 1794, which remains the largest of its kind in America.
It is a must-see museum if you are in the area. The museum is beautiful with a rich history. This State house was the first peacetime capitol of the United States and is the only state house ever to have served as the national’s capitol. The State House and its ground embody four hundred years of Maryland and early American history. Imagine yourself in the Old Senate Chamber when General George Washington came before Congress to resign his commission as commander-in-chief of the Continental Army in this room. It is a well-informative museum of history. I encourage people to take about 2 hours here to explore each chamber room, archives room, and other rooms. Some of the highlights include the Rotunda where the case of George Washington’s copy of the speech he gave resigning his commission as commander-in-chief of the Continental Army in 1783 is displayed, the old Senate Chamber, an interactive exhibits in the Senate Committer / Stairwell Rooms, and other invaluable of paintings and bronze statues of various people in history. After touring the museum, there are plenty of great restaurants nearby to enjoy lunch or dinner:)

The Maryland State House is a must-see destination for anyone visiting Annapolis. Rich in history and architectural beauty, it's not just the oldest state capitol still in continuous legislative use—it’s also one of the most significant landmarks in the entire country. Walking up to the building, you're immediately struck by the majestic wooden dome, which happens to be the largest of its kind constructed without nails. It's a beautiful symbol of 18th-century craftsmanship and remains a standout feature of the Annapolis skyline. Once inside, the sense of history is palpable. This is the very place where George Washington resigned his commission as commander-in-chief in 1783—a powerful moment that reinforced civilian control over the military and helped define the future of American democracy. The Old Senate Chamber, beautifully restored to its Revolutionary War-era appearance, allows visitors to step back in time and feel the weight of the decisions that were made there. Another highlight is the rotunda, where a replica of the ship "Maryland Federalist" hangs suspended, adding a nautical touch to this deeply patriotic site. The newer sections of the State House are just as impressive, with marble floors, grand staircases, and portraits of important figures in Maryland’s history, including tributes to Harriet Tubman and Frederick Douglass. The entire building feels like a blend of museum and government space—functional, yet reverent to the past. The atmosphere is peaceful and respectful, and the staff and security were friendly and welcoming. Self-guided tours are encouraged, with plenty of interpretive signs and displays that explain the significance of the rooms and artifacts. If you’re a history buff, a student, or simply curious about America’s roots, you’ll find this place both fascinating and inspiring. The Maryland State House isn't just a stop on a tour—it’s a direct connection to the founding of the country. It's free to enter, open to the public daily, and it sits just a short walk from the waterfront, shops, and other historic sites, making it a perfect addition to any day spent in downtown Annapolis. Whether you're visiting Annapolis for the first time or live nearby, this historic gem deserves a visit. It’s a quiet yet powerful reminder of where we’ve come from—and the values that continue to shape our country.

A must see historic building if you’re in town. Easy to walk into and guide yourself around, you can spend around 45 minutes here reading everything and absorbing the beautiful architecture. Standing in the room where George Washington resigned his commission is a fantastic experience, they’ve done a wonderful job preserving and maintaining here!
Marc M — Google review
Really enjoyed having a look around this place. Although renovations are currently taking place, the interior is still mostly accessible. There are a lot of informative exhibits that talk about various aspects of the Capitol's history, and Maryland's history. There is an exhibit with an original copy of Washington's resignation speech. They also discuss how Maryland was involved in the drafting of the Constitution and the Revolutionary War.
J. E — Google review
Out of all the state houses, I did not expect Maryland to have such a beautiful and historic state house. Though I still think Mississippi has the best capitol building, Maryland is a close second. The design is beautiful with a marble staircase, and has brilliant paintings decorating the walls. Staff is wonderful, restrooms are downstairs. But where this building shines most is being the place where GEORGE WASHINGTON RESIGNED FROM COMMANDER AND CHIEF OF THE CONTINENTAL ARMY. Very cool!

We had the opportunity/honor to visit the Maryland State House in JUL_FY2024 and it was an amazing experience, a great opportunity to learn more about Maryland's history and legacy. We did a plant tour aroud since it was closed during the 4th July, and evend during the reforbishment process, for sure it's a remarkable building. Definitely, it's a place that deserves my respect. It was a privilege.
Robertson S — Google review
Definitely worth the visit. Such a historic beautiful building with a story to tell.
Carrie H — Google review
Maryland’s is one of the smaller state houses, but it is one of the most attractive. We were made to feel extremely welcome, and the self-guided tour of the main floor had plenty of information. It is a blend of contemporary and historical, from the modern legislative chambers to the old Senate chamber, carefully restored to commemorate Washington resigning his commission there in 1783. Having visited quite a few capitols, I found Annapolis intimate and very pleasant, and certainly came away knowing more about Maryland and the state’s history.

The Banneker-Douglass-Tubman Museum, located in the historic Mt. Moriah A.M.E. Church building, is Maryland's official museum of African American history. It showcases the rich heritage of African Americans in the Chesapeake region from 1633 to the civil rights era. The museum honors notable figures such as Benjamin Banneker, Frederick Douglass, and Harriet Tubman through exhibits that highlight their lives and accomplishments.
It was my first time there. We had a guided tour with students. It was a lovely experience and very informative, not just about Banneker, Tubman, and Douglass, but about the surrounding area and the impact of African American people on said areas. I will go again.
Cynthia W — Google review
First visit to the museum and it won't be my last! The artwork by the featured artist, Jabari Jefferson, was phenomenal. Loved the Mount Moriah church and the displays in the museum where very informative. Always love learning about history.
Giselle W — Google review
This is a very important museum that covers numerous topics in the history of African-Americans in Maryland. In addition to biographical information on Benjamin Banneker, Frederick Douglass and Harriet Tubman, there is a lot of information on Black communities in Maryland and their role in the state's history. The restored worship hall of the church is beautiful and makes an excellent display setting for artwork. Definitely worth a visit and it is free to enter (donations are accepted).
J. E — Google review
The Banneker-Douglass-Tubman museum was my main destination on my trip to Annapolis. It sits inside of a restored former AME church in the downtown area. One area had a new aged black artist's work on exhibition. The other permanent exhibition featured history of historic black figures of the Maryland past. The museum does not charge an admission fee, but please find a way to donate to support their cause.

Very nice museum with alot of history. The temporary exhibit was great and we saw the artist.

Small and mighty. I was greeted as I walked into the museum and pretty much received a guided tour. It is a small space housed in a historic church that was saved from gentrification. Rich history and the special exhibit was incredible. Free entry; spent ~1-2 hours.

Quiet Waters Park is a serene 340-acre park offering over six miles of paved trails, making it an ideal spot for a leisurely stroll or a family picnic. The park features formal gardens, art galleries, and a children's playground, providing various activities for visitors to enjoy. Additionally, the park offers outdoor pavilions that can be rented for events and the Blue Heron Center indoor facility.
Beautiful park right on the water. Mostly flat, nice paved trail that loops all around with plenty of water access and views. Accommodating for all types of people wanting to exercise. There are gazebos spread out that are well worn but add character to your experience. Even on an icy winter day, this place has a warmth to keep you motivated.

One could spend a whole day in this park. It’s $6 per vehicle. It closes at 8pm. You can bring your own grill and have a bbq. There is plenty of green to play soccer or volleyball. There is a place that rents boats and kayaks. Lots of trails for biking or walking. Plus, it is gorgeous! Lots of flowers!! Very well maintained!
Rod A — Google review
Quiet Waters Park truly lives up to its name. The atmosphere was calm and serene, making it the perfect spot to unwind. The South River overlook was absolutely breathtaking at sunset — watching the sun dip into the horizon while listening to gentle waves crashing against the shore felt magical. On the day of our visit, the park was filled with happy dogs, and amazingly not one of them barked — it added to the peaceful vibe. I also appreciated how thoughtfully the park is laid out, with restrooms conveniently located throughout. If you’re looking for a place to recharge, enjoy nature, and take in a stunning sunset, this park is a hidden gem. We’ll definitely be coming back.

Amazing place to relax and have fun! Quiet Water Park really lives up to its name — peaceful, clean, and beautifully maintained. The water attractions are great for both kids and adults, and the staff are friendly and helpful. There are plenty of shaded areas to rest, and everything feels very safe and well organized. A perfect spot for a relaxing family day out. Highly recommended!
Jarvin H — Google review
Really enjoyed our time here! We had a nice picnic and walked through a few of the trails to get to a gorgeous view overlooking the bay. Watch out for the beehives they have tucked away off one of the trails!
Brad K — Google review
Very nice and well maintained park with nice trails and several dog parks . We have been here several times and walked all the trails. Many of the trails are well shaded and there were many rest areas along the trails. This park is very quiet as the name would suggest and serene. The visitors center is clean and many times have arts and photo exhibits. The holly pavilion trail takes you to the overlook with gorgeous view of the south River. Our dogs love the dog beach by the south River overlook where they can swim in the River.
Davidson R — Google review
This is an awesome place to take your pup! We took our most adventurous dog out to the beach here. There's a short walk to the beach which was pretty nice. Gorgeous views, clean area, and friendly ppl.

The William Paca House & Garden is a well-preserved 18th-century estate in Annapolis, Maryland. It was the home of William Paca, one of Maryland's signers of the Declaration of Independence and the state's third governor. The estate features a five-part Georgian-style mansion with original woodwork and period furnishings. Visitors can take guided tours to explore the interior and learn about life in colonial and revolutionary Annapolis.
Perfect for adults. It’s not interactive, but it is set up to evoke your imagination. The gardens are beautiful, though not peaceful right now because of the renovation going on next door.
Sandy A — Google review
I recently visited the gardens and while the landscape itself was beautiful, the gardens weren’t as bloomed as I had expected. It would have been helpful to know ahead of time that many of the plants were out of season. However, the history of the property was fascinating, and I really appreciated Pat Turlington’s engaging overview. Overall, I had a lovely time and enjoyed learning about the rich background of the estate.
Lo M — Google review
Beautiful, green serene garden. Not many people were visiting so that made it better! The entire garden is not very big but worth the $5 entrance fee. For $12 you get to also visit parts of the house. Worth visiting in Annapolis.
Ahmed G — Google review
I'm so glad that we stopped here. Interesting history displays inside and you can tour the house interior as well as the gardens. The gardens were lovely even in late October. So interesting to see how the 1% lived in the 1700's. Highly recommended.

We just did the Garden and it was $5 each. It was a very cute garden. My favorite part was all the growing vegetables. Worth the visit.
Colin B — Google review
The docent was incredibly knowledgeable and made the tour not only fun entertaining. If you get Cathy, who is a retired teacher turned volunteer, your are going to have a lovely time. Highly recommend for those who love historic site and history.

Had a guided tour of this house and it was such a great experience! Learned so many cool and interesting things along the way. The place itself is amazing, and the staff at the front desk were super friendly and helpful. Definitely worth a visit!
Manoj R — Google review
Such a beautiful house and interesting, detailed tour. Our tour guide was great and very knowledgeable, not just about the house but the period in general. She did a. Great job connecting the history of the house and family to the history of the United States and Annapolis. It was really interesting. You can visit just the gardens for less than the cost of a tour and the gardens are beautiful as well.

Established in 1845, the United States Naval Academy (USNA) is a renowned undergraduate school with a focus on science, technology, engineering, and math. Located in Annapolis, Maryland, the campus spans 338 acres at the confluence of the Severn River and Chesapeake Bay.
It was interesting to see our soon to be leaders in training and their environment. During the winter months, they still had some training exercises, but there had a lot more restrictions in place. There were classic military facility entrance protocols. Military, gov, and retired IDs were only accepted. Go Navy beat Army!!!

Visiting the U.S. Naval Academy in Annapolis was a truly inspiring experience. The campus is absolutely stunning—historic buildings, immaculate grounds, and views of the Severn River that are hard to beat. Walking through the Yard, you get a real sense of tradition, honor, and service. The guided tour was excellent and gave great insight into the life of a midshipman, the Academy’s history, and its role in shaping Naval leaders. Highlights for me included the breathtaking chapel, the crypt of John Paul Jones, and the Naval Academy Museum with its incredible ship models and artifacts. I left with a deep appreciation for the commitment these young men and women make to serve our country. Annapolis itself is a great place to explore before or after your visit. Whether you're into history, military service, or just want to be inspired, the U.S. Naval Academy is absolutely worth your time.
Scott H — Google review
If you’re visiting downtown Annapolis and can spare some time, be sure to walk into the United States Naval Academy! (You can walk on with just a driver’s license. To drive on requires military or DoD ID.) It is beautiful to just walk most of it outside, but if you can - be sure to visit Bancroft Hall, the Chapel interior & John Paul Jones crypt, and the fantastic museum as well (just a stone’s throw from the chapel.) We frequent the USNA and never tire of it! Captains Row is just idyllic. Amazing!

We visited Memorial weekend. The campus is beautiful and there is a first-rate gift shop. Highly recommend.

Took a tour as part of the youth leadership program, very inspiring and beautiful place. Used the sim and had a good time. Be sure to catch evening noon formation. Tour many of the top of the line sports facilities. Looking to get sponsored by them for high school/ college. Need a valid id for entry. Veteran’s affairs id will not work for entry. The Naval Academy is definitely a place to visit if you’re in the Annapolis area. There are walking tours and bus tours but we decided to follow the map and do it on our on. The campus is beautiful and well kept. All the buildings are magnificent. The Academy Chapel is a must see while you’re there, simply gorgeous and then you can go underneath part of the chapel to visit John Paul Jones crypt which is breathtaking, honoring one of our true Naval heroes! The day we went was perfect, very little clouds and just a nice cool afternoon, not too warm. We visited June the 11th 2024. We even got to see the Navy football team practicing. You’ve got to go and walk the places where lots of Naval heroes got their beginning.

Great place to learn of naval history past, present, and future. Amazing architecture combined with statues, cannons, and even torpedoes!! Sporting events at the college level is always entertaining, but don't forget the scenery the academy has to offer. From boats and ships cruising the bay to the academy bridge at sunset, there is always something to snap a picture of. Anchors Away!!

Annapolis Maritime Museum & Park is a riverfront venue dedicated to the ecology, maritime history, and arts of the Chesapeake. Despite overcoming destruction from Hurricane Isabelle in 2003, it has restored its exhibits and operations. The museum celebrates the heritage of Annapolis and its maritime excellence, offering boat tours and access for fishing and crabbing. It's an ideal setting to enjoy the beauty of the Chesapeake Bay while learning about bay ecology, oysters, and their economic impact.
As a museum—this place is wonderful. Super informative, great location, and beautiful! As an event space—also wonderful! It was the perfect venue for our anniversary reception. They have a fantastic staff who graciously accommodated multiple walkthroughs (an initial one, our visit with our event planner, and then a visit with our parents). The location is gorgeous with some iconic views of Chesapeake Bay—our pictures turned out amazing with minimal fuss! They have a versatile space that can accommodate one big dance floor, a bar, and even little couches and seatings for folks to sink back and catch up quietly. Great venue, and a fantastic team!

What a wonderful trip we planned on the Wilma Lee. The crew was absolutely fantastic. Working with Lauren at The Latitude Agency, and everyone involved in planning was an exercise in superb customer service. We couldn't ask for better! To sail on the Wilma Lee is to experience history first hand - it is truly unique and I highly recommend to any visitors to Annapolis, and also of course, to locals who may want to gather their family and friends for an amazing night out. The Wilma Lee is the PERFECT wedding weekend, family reunion experience, office outing, and friendly space for just getting together. The experience is way less expensive than others in town, and offers an unsurpassed view of the Bay on the last working skipjack sailing the Bay. Incredible! Thank you!
Diana L — Google review
The museum has exhibits showing the history of oystering, different harvesting tools and the story of the region’s oyster industry. You could also go down the docks and cast your crab cages or fish lines for crabs. There’s an handful of great sized-crabs in the water surrounding the dock. It is a great spot to simply enjoy the boats passing by and catch the sunset.
Shiela G — Google review
The Annapolis Maritime Museum & Park sits right on the shores of the Chesapeake Bay, celebrating the city’s deep nautical roots and the legacy of the Bay’s watermen. Housed in a former oyster-packing plant, the museum blends history, ecology, and maritime culture through interactive exhibits, restored boats, and waterfront views. It has nice scenery outdoor and a bunch of oysters shells at every corner. Price for both adult and kids are under $10 based on the price on the door. They have a canon in there too

It is a wonderful little museum!! This absolutely worth the visit and study about Chesapeake Bay. Great hands on activities for kids. The view outside around the bay is beautiful and nice dock area. The museum will need a fee for entrance : Adults -$7.00 Seniors, Students and Children 3-12-$5.00 Children Under 3-Free
Woody P — Google review
Lovely small inexpensive museum on the beautiful water inlet. The museum is a wonderful place to better understand the importance of the Chesapeake Bay, the water systems, Oysters importance in the ecosystem and the general history of the area, fisherman, and boating history! Do go!

Amazing!! This venue is so beautiful and the coordinator and the staff that help you make your special day come true are fantastic. We could have not asked for a better venue. We had amazing weather so that made it more beautiful. But we fell in love with the space and the fact you get to have so many different options to enjoy. The lawn, the pier, the museum, the deck etc. Everything to museum has to offer is just top notch. Also the barge house they offer to get ready in, is absolutely perfect.
Jenna C — Google review
What a wonderful museum! This is a gem and absolutely worth the visit. It’s a small, accessible ♿️ museum focusing on the “area’s maritime heritage and the ecology of the Chesapeake Bay through programs, exhibits and community events.” Well organized and very modern, with great hands on activities for grownups and children. There are exhibits inside and outside. The view of the bay is gorgeous and one can watch the boats go by. A little sandy entry to the water is right next to the dock and we saw many kayakers enter the water. Small entry fee: Adults -$7.00 Seniors, Students and Children 3-12-$5.00 Children Under 3-Free There are clean bathrooms and outside, a bowl of water AND treats for dogs. There is limited parking on site, and most park on the streets which are very narrow.

If you're seeking a serene spot for reflection, the Maryland World War II Memorial in Annapolis is a must-visit. Established in 1998, this poignant tribute honors the 6,454 Maryland residents who lost their lives during the war. The memorial showcases 48 granite pillars representing each state as of 1945 and features informative plaques that highlight significant milestones from World War II. Additionally, two globes illustrate key battle locations across both the Atlantic and Pacific theaters.
This is a very inspiring memorial both for its design, location, and the encompassing commemoration of WWII service members from all of the US military branches. The memorial is fully accessible, though the lookout is not. There is still, however, a great view from the memorial platform. You can see across the Severn River to the Naval Academy. There are two parking areas and more than usual handicap spaces available. The names of all the fallen servicemen and women inscribed on the large marble stones is an impactful, emotional testament to them. Very nostalgic place for me and I both love and hate what they have and haven't done with it. The new lower WWII memorial of Maryland is very well done. But I am confused as to why there are 3 heads stones of woman there who lived and served well after WWII and not even from Maryland. The upper memorial, whose designation has now changed, use to have the most beautiful view over looking the Naval Academy, has been allowed to decay, severly, and the view has been allowed to be over taken by the trees planted in the below memorial. If you have never been it is worth the stop. But for people like me who have some history there. Well it hurts my heart!

What a beautiful little area to stop and stretch the legs right outside of Annapolis, MD. My husband served 10 years in the Navy and always heard about this uni. He wanted to lay eyes on it himself. Thank you for all of those who are serving and continuing their education to better the world. We appreciate you.

Being there was very moving and incredibly powerful. A beautiful memorial to Marylands' fallen heroes. The area also has an amazing view of the Naval Academy and the city of Annapolis. It's a must-see.

Amazing memorial. Such a humbling experience to visit. My husband took me here as a date. I learned so much and gain a new level of respect for my country. When my children get older I plan on taking them. The views are breathtaking as you can see the United States Naval Academy Dome from the memorial.

The memorial is located at an excellent location , it's not more than an hour detour if you're to or from the bay bridge . For one it's wonderfully designed , the names on the walls, national and state flag over a tribute to all the pillars of US security and the wonderful Annapolis overlook makes it even more sweet. It's open always and very close to US50 .

Visitors can explore nearby shopping streets like Main Street, Maryland Avenue, and West Street for apparel, gifts, home accessories, antiques, nautical items. Many establishments are open daily with extended hours on weekends.
Annapolis is a popular the capital city id Maryland that contains populated beautiful and historic areas. The City Dock area is one of them and is well known as the heart of Annapolis, where it connects with the waters of the Chesapeake Bay, and where you can connect with the water, too. Watch the boats parade around the turning basin of "Ego Alley," shake out your sea legs aboard the tour boat Harbor Queen or man the wheel of the graceful Schooner Woodwind. Its a beautiful place to visit but definitely recommended the summer season.

The Kunta Kinte-Alex Haley Memorial Park is a tribute to African American ancestors and celebrates ethnic diversity. The statue shows author Alex Haley reading to a group of three children, and the plaque next to it commemorates the arrival of Kunta Kinte.

It was so wonderful to travel back in time for a few moments and imagine Alex Haley discovering his Gambian roots. Thank God for giving his descendents the fortitude to keep pushing to get this established for all of us to enjoy. We are so blessed to have this monument to remind us of our history.

Love that the memorial is constructed such that young or old can sit and relax amongst the statues vs. just staring at/taking pictures of it. There is something powerful about sitting, pausing and reflecting on the lives that were forced to disembark on those shores ...just a few feet away from the memorial.

Tawes Garden is a hidden gem nestled within the hustle and bustle of a government office park in Annapolis, Maryland. Spanning 5 acres, this enchanting garden showcases diverse geographic features like forests, peninsulas, and streamside areas. Named after one of Maryland's first ladies, Mrs. J. Millard Tawes, it serves as a peaceful retreat for bird-watchers and nature enthusiasts alike.
I just went earlier today - It was about 20 degrees (Fahrenheit, as it is the middle of December), and despite the wintery look it really was a gorgeous little nature walk. The gift shop is small, and there's not much on offer, but it seems to be a typically underfunded little touristy area - It'd be great to do lunch and then sit out on the benches and look at the ponds when the weather is warmer.

Nice quiet spot to walk in the shade. There are some benches if you want to eat outside. There is a small parking lot near Taylor Avenue and Rowe Boulevard.

Helen Avalynne Tawes Garden. A lovely spot in Annapolis. Not the easiest to find, but worth a visit. Park near a day care, but you don't have to approach. Signage takes you around the building to some short trails through the woods. There is a lovely fountain and some art pieces. I have been a few times, just a short pleasant break in some busy days.
Diane L — Google review
Very cute little garden that was cleverly designed and appears perhaps a little neglected. If you take Taylor to Herbert M Sachs Dr, then you will find a little 8 spot parking lot right near the buildings (sign says MAX of 1-hour parking, not sure how they monitor that). On weekends and when buildings are closed, you just walk around the side of the building (there are signs) and find this cute little park designed to represent different areas of Maryland, with some great explanatory signs and accessible flat paths (which some kids were using to zoom around on their bicycles unfortunately). It is a nice pretty park in the middle of the city with some seating, but there were some fallen limbs and overgrown bushes and rubbish....so while very fun, could use a little T&C. Anyhow, a nice park for us to have, check it out!

Nestled in the heart of Annapolis, St. Anne's Parish stands as a testament to the city's rich history and architectural beauty. This historic Episcopal church, established in 1692, is not only one of the oldest worship sites but also a beloved landmark that has undergone several transformations over the centuries. The current structure, built in Romanesque Revival style after a devastating fire in 1858, features an eye-catching red brick façade and exquisite stained-glass windows that captivate visitors.
I recently attended a Sunday worship service at St. Anne's since I was out of town and away from my regular parish. The church is beautiful, as was the liturgy, and the sermon.

This large Episcopal church sits in the center of Annapolis ("Ann's City) in the middle of a pair of Colonial-era traffic circles/piazzas. Next to the church is the Maryland State House. Notable in the church are the twelve stained glass windows. After entering the nave, the he first window to the left (back of church) honors an early rector (head pastor), Mr. Southgate, after whom is named a neighboring residential street. This is an active place of worship. While it is most heavily used on Sundays, visitors may encounter religious activities at various hours of the day throughout the week. Note that the space is used for quiet prayer and meditation by all. It's wise to maintain relative quiet while visiting unless on an organized tour of the space.

Historic London Town & Gardens is an educational complex that includes outdoor gardens and a historic section with colonial buildings and events. The town was once a major port in the 1730s, playing a significant role in the tobacco trade and the transportation of African slaves, indentured workers, and convicts to Maryland. Restored as a National Historic Landmark, it showcases the area's African-American history through its mansion, gardens, and recreated buildings.
This venue had all of our guests in awe with the incredible views & picturesque landscapes & gardens. Even better, the staff was professional and easy to work with. Kristin originally walked us through the property and helped us throughout our entire wedding planning process. You could tell she is passionate about her job, the property, and the couples that get married there. It was an easy yes for us. Throughout the planning process the venue made renovations we weren’t even expecting that made the property even more magical. If you are looking for a beautiful outdoor/waterfront venue that offers professionalism, ease of planning, great communication and genuine interactions, Historic London Town is your venue. We seriously couldn’t have asked for a better day and feel so lucky that we chose London Town for our special day!

Beautiful location on the water with woodlands, gardens, and authentic structures, including an original brick home with a gorgeous view. Lots of hands-on items from the past and educated docents to provide a fascinating look into our history. Respectfully written accounts of the incredible courage and ingenuity of enslaved people are posted inside the reconstructed places they lived and worked. All local children will benefit from this knowledge and the ability to better imagine what life was like back then, and all schools should plan firld trips to this amazing place.

My dogsitter cancelled on me and I had to take a giant 1 year old dog with me on my quick vacation to the Annapolis area. London Town was listed on Bring Fido. The visit went even better than I thought it would and this is truly one of the most dog friendly places I've ever been. The grounds are beautiful but not fussy with nice walking paths (gravel) and lots of shade overhead from mature trees. The staff were helpful and friendly, the exhibits good and educational. There were several areas where benches were tucked away in the shade. The only place dogs aren't allowed is the actual historic home. If you have a traveling companion, you could easily take turns waiting with the pet outside. I was solo, so we skipped the house. But still had lots to see/do. Definitely worth a visit, especially if you need a dog friendly activity around Annapolis.

What a gorgeous venue for a wedding! Historic London Town & Gardens is truly one of the prettiest event locations in the DMV. You can get married on a spacious lawn with a view of the South River behind you and then have your wedding portraits done in the lovely gardens surrounding the main building. As wedding photographers, we particularly liked the woodsy area down the hill from the open lawn area. The little "valley" at the bottom is an especially beautiful spot. It has the added bonus of being secluded, so you can get your portraits done in a relaxed and peaceful environment.

This spot attracts around one million visitors annually and hosts the Kunta Kinte Heritage Festival weekend, celebrating cultural heritage and education. This is the park at the boat harbor in Annapolis. Wonderful place to look out over the water and enjoy the views and relax. Beautiful! There were so many boats to look at and there was a gentleman playing live music nearby. We had just missed a sailboat parade of some kind but we made sure to note it for next year. We went during the afternoon on a week day so it was not crowded at all.

Absolute perfect place to watch the sunrise. You'll often see students from St. Johns, people in photo clubs, and other photographers. Myself included. I wouldn't suggest taking food if you want peace though. Plenty of the local DTA ducks will aggressively approach you for a bite or two, or everything you have! Literally there's no "ducking" them within that twenty five yard perimeter. I'd stick to coffee or tea. You can see from time to time; boats docked from all over the world. Including New Zealand. Not often are there people passed out, whether homeless, or just sleeping off the excessive drinking. All depending on when you visit, you might be fortunate enough to catch members of our local Naval Academy as they're initiated. Keep your eye's peeled for huge blue heron that often hang out around the docks before sun breaks. Lighting is good and there's usually joggers passing through, or crabbers on the opposite side of the docks "chicken necking" and occasionally that cute couple experiencing their first or one of many Annapolis City sunrises... It's certainly a must do if you're in town.

This park invites you to wander along its picturesque trails that meander through lush woodlands, past tranquil ponds, and alongside an impressive fountain.

There are gazebos spread out that are well worn but add character to your experience. Even on an icy winter day, this place has a warmth to keep you motivated.

Lovely park. I especially appreciated that the trails are all paved. As we left, we saw an elderly gentleman pushing his wife in a wheelchair— a clear reminder that this park’s paved trails enable everyone, even those who cannot walk — an opportunity to enjoy nature. The staff in the welcome center weren’t very warm, welcoming or helpful, but that was the only negative aspect of an otherwise beautiful visit.
Pleiades L — Google review
This is a really clean and organized park, but it's probably not a good place to bring your own kayak. The kayak rental place is next to the put-in and it's over an eighth of a mile from the parking lot. It opens at 10am so if you come before that the road is closed, so it's a long carry to the water and back. If it's open, you could drive in and drop off your kayak, but it's still a lot of walking for little return. Truxtun Park Boat Ramp is a mile and a half away and much more usable, with free parking if you don't have a boat trailer.

Great atmosphere, staff very courteous, efficient check-in, great place for us Navy veterans to share "sea stories" with our comrades-in-arms! Love the flyovers, the march-on, the Leapfrogs parachute team, Bill the Goat, college football's most colorful mascot; I could go on! Oh, and did I mention the exciting brand of football that's played there? Definitely worth the trip, go Navy! 🇺🇲⚓️🏈

Went to my first college football game! GO NAVY! Was a blast! Stadium is huge! Tons of food options. Lots of restrooms. Staff was very helpful trying to find your seats and anything else you may need. Prices are high but that's expected at places like that. You can take in water bottles if they are not opened. That's a big deal cuz a bottle if water in therr is 7 bucks. We seen so many people having to empty theirs and toss them cuz they was pre opened. So make sure your water bottle is not opened. You can refill it at the water fountain throughout the stadium. Fountain water is pretty cold. Clear bags can be any size really but purses have to be pretty small. I almost didn't get to take mine in. There are plenty of homes along the road that offer parking for around 20. I recommend doing that. We paid 30 to park in a garage and had to walk 20 mins. We would have parked in someone's yard with a 2 min walk if we knew before hand.

I've been to 2 gamesat the Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium, each a wonderful memory. There is so much history to see, I suggest you go early to see all the memorials and to park.... lots of traffic. The first game I was privileged with tailgating with some Navy friends who's parents were Admirals. I'll never forget that day... just an amazing time with amazing people. The first game we bought tickets on the visitor side, bottom right.... next to the cannon. Oh boy, what an experience. The second game we ubered to.the Stadium, don't do that. You'll have to walk anyway. No tailgating so straight to the vendors.. sitting on the Navy side this game. Lots of good and beverage options, Navy Academy gear for sale inside. Don't miss out... by tickets to the 50/50 for a good cause. Seats are hard, bring a cushion. Choice of steps or a walkway. Food on all levels as well as bathrooms. Sun can get hot... bring a hat. A wonderful time and memories to last a life time.

My wife and I flew up to Annapolis with the UAB team for the 2025 UAB Army football game. After traveling up to West Point last year for the UAB-Amy game and experienced the somewhat rundown Army stadium, I was very impressed with Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium. We were up in the visiting A.D.‘s box and it was very nice and the food was excellent. Unlike Army’s Stadium, the concourse below the seats were spacious and therefore not as crowded. What really impressed me was that there are seat backs for every spectators. It was very impressive to see the midshipmen in their summer white uniforms march en masse before the game. The Kunte Kinte Festival was an awesome event. Great music, food and vendors! I can't wait to attend again next year.

NMCM Stadium has come a long way and continues to improve. The parking and vehicle access remains limited by location. Game Day will find many who didn't pre-pay to park headed to one of the alternate sites/school lots or homeowners who have made it their side gig to rent out their front yards. The Stadium has improved the fan experience with security, seating, and more vendor variety. Plan ahead to ensure you get to seats in advance to see the Brigade of Midshipmen March On to the field, the pre game flyover and usually some other pageantry. The suites and Towers are worth the Luxe experience.

Very nice stadium, bathroom could be bigger, plenty of stadium food to choose from. Went for a USL2 match. Annapolis vs Lionsbridge FC. Was great for the Lionsbridge FC 2-0 WIN. Up the Bridge.

Nestled along the picturesque Severn River, Jonas and Anne Catharine Green Park is a delightful escape for nature lovers and families alike. This charming park boasts a sandy beach perfect for picnicking while soaking in stunning views of Horseshoe Point and the Naval Academy Bridge. Visitors can enjoy leisurely strolls on paved trails or cast their lines from the fishing pier, making it an ideal spot to unwind.
Really nice park with great views of the Severn River, the Naval Academy, and the Chesapeake Bay. I was very pleasantly surprised how well-kept this park is and how much there is to explore. You can walk or bike around the park and link to the B&A trail which actually begins at this park and goes 13+ miles to Glen Burnie. Besides walking and riding, there is a level picnic area near the shoreline on the inner side of the park and a 280+ ft fishing pier that looks like part of an older bridge. There is a sandy beach area perfect as a launching place for car top boats/kayaks. There are satisfactory public restrooms in a building by the parking lot, which also houses the trail info center. The park is handicap accessible for parking, bathrooms, and pathways.
NANCY T — Google review
OK place to put a kayak in. There's a beach that's not sand but some kind of aggregate. It doesn't hurt your feet but it does stick to anything wet. Like sand, but worse. There's limited parking, but it's a short distance to the beach. It's easy access off of 450 at the base of the bridge over the Severn. The river is wide here so there's plenty of chop and wakes, but it's nice near shore.
Steve C — Google review
Such a pretty area. The Severn Inn restaurant next door has really good food. Then a great spot under/beside the bridge to stroll. The view of the Naval Academy is fantastic. And you can sit & watch the sail boats. Great free little tourist spot!
Chelsea A — Google review
Our favorite park to visit in Annapolis! We had our maternity photos here and they turned out gorgeous. We never struggle to find parking. There's a small beach to enjoy as well as the rocks beneath the bridge to explore. Plenty of paved trails and picnic tables make this a great place to eat lunch with family or just simply walk and enjoy the weather. One thing I will say is to be cautious of the sand, it will dye your light colored clothing should you choose to wear it on the little beach area. It is very yellow sand.
Olivia G — Google review
Beautiful park. Lots of people sunning and laying out on the sand or fishing off the pier. The native plant habitat is beautiful and all the trees makes it a great place to read and/or relax and birdwatch. There are restrooms onsite and a few picnic tables and grills.
Lexie W — Google review
Nice park to visit on the Chesapeake Bay. Near the Naval Avademy. Clean beach with picnic tables. It also has a walking path. Bring your fishing rod to fish off the old Severn River Bridge or along the rocks.

It's my favorite place. So peaceful. The best sunsets. Small but well maintained. The rangers are always so nice too. They are prompt when closing.

Little bit busy with many people here fishing and crabbing . Small beach area. You can launch Kayak. Great view of Seven river. Annapolis. We came at weekend. So parking lot was full.

The Hogshead Museum is a fascinating place to visit, full of artefacts from the 1700s onwards. The guides are knowledgeable and friendly, and it's a great place to step back in time. Well done!
Friendly and knowledgeable staff. My friends and I walked in on a whim while visiting Annapolis and it was the highlight of our day! Ps - Just wanted to provide an update. It’s been just over two months since my friends and I visited Hogshead and we still bring it up/the facts we learned at least once a week. We also wanted to send a specific shout out to the young sailor reenactor who was a treasure trove of information about 1770s Annapolis and the colonies at large (we’ve even added her to our “girls crew” - aka the ideal crew we would party with at all times. Other recent inductee was a DJ we saw open for Carly Rae Jepsen, for general context). Pps - we were the group with the “KALE” (not YALE) sweatshirt. Keep up the great work!!

The First Sunday Arts Festival is a monthly event held from May to October, featuring a variety of vendors, live music, and street performers. Visitors can explore the Armel-Leftwich Visitor Center at the United States Naval Academy for Beaux Arts architecture and officer training. The festival offers a small-town atmosphere with friendly locals and diverse dining options.
This open air art market is a great monthly event in downtown Annapolis, May - December. Live music and lots of local vendors to check out in addition to open shops and restaurants with street dining. Good for couples, families, kids, etc. with so much to see and do.
Regen L — Google review
It's a great atmosphere with a good variety of vendors and music in several different areas. Oh, and the food choices are terrific, from snacks to whole meals really nice. You need to be there.
Darren E — Google review
It is a beautiful small town environment with friendly people. There were many places to eat that were open all day. The only slight disappointment was that the number of vendors\sellers of art and other items was smaller than I expected, and most of the art wasn't very impressive. But we had a wonderful time, and ate some delicious food. I recommend visiting!
Ryan C — Google review
Great selection of vendors! A lot of jewelry and home decor. Also pottery, wood crafts, sewn goods, painting, some food/drinks/ice cream. Decent amount of space to walk for the most part. Definitely recommend checking out!
Megan A — Google review

Nature & Parks
Truxtun Park is a popular city park in Annapolis, offering a wide range of recreational activities for both residents and visitors. The park features a boat launch, making it convenient for kayaking and fishing enthusiasts to access the water. Additionally, families can enjoy various sports facilities such as tennis courts, basketball courts, and baseball fields. For those looking to relax, there's a seasonal pool with classes available.
This community pool is a standout. The facilities are clean and well-maintained, with plenty of seating and shaded areas that make it easy to relax. The entry fee is very reasonable, making it accessible for families and individuals alike. The snack shop is a nice bonus, affordable with a solid variety of options. Whether you’re swimming, lounging, or just stopping by with kids, this pool offers a comfortable, enjoyable experience. Highly recommend for anyone looking for a low-cost, high-quality place to cool off.
Mike C — Google review
Uneven and rutted trail takes you to a wacky bridge that belongs in a fun house. Great view of a water access that takes you to the Severn. The community pool is nearby and trails around the surrounding neighborhood although I just parked near the community center and walked the trail through the woods to the water. Got a little lost doing some exploring and returned via the sidewalk which was fine and made it more interesting. Worth the trip just to see the fun house bridge over the inlet.
J K — Google review
I went here for a weekend event with my son. There was parking, tennis courts, a playground, and a boat ramp. Any other amenities or things to do I'm not sure of but I'm sure there were other things to do here. The event was a bit disorganized with a couple of things but overall my son and I had a great time.
Trisha R — Google review
I liked the quality tennis courts, and it was my first time to see the pickelball in action, could be a great place for its fan, with its numerous courts, yet I still believe it’s far from the enjoyment of the prestigious traditional tennis 🎾💚.
Aly ا — Google review
The launch ramp is easy to use and in great shape. Nice docks make getting underway quickly pretty simple. And, a very scenic place.
Justin M — Google review

Wedding chapel
The Naval Academy Chapel, an iconic structure on the campus of one of America's top public schools, is a must-see. Its bell tower overlooks the daily ritual of midshipmen saluting as they march along Stribling and pass by Tecumseh Court towards Bancroft Hall, their residence during their time at the academy. This historic building boasts remarkable architectural features and is complemented by the nearby Tidal Basin Monument, which commemorates naval battles fought during World War II.
Came here for my sons field trip and I thoroughly enjoyed it. I'm not a huge history buff but I could've spent all day here. The history was really interesting and the whole academy was beautiful. We will definitely return.
Sarah C — Google review
Truly beautiful with lovely stained glass windows and dome. Chapel and crypt are both worth seeing when you visit the Naval Academy.
Jennifer F — Google review
Amazing architecture! Immaculate decor! History all over. I just hope the story of the pieces there are real. Amazing.
DeMyra H — Google review
This is gorgeous! The stained glass is exceptional and each window has a Bible verse plaque underneath. John Paul Jones’ crypt is located under the chapel.
Elizabeth D — Google review
If you can get in, this is a must see. There is a massive organ built into the cathedral and the crypt of John Paul Jones is in the basement.
D R — Google review
We signed up for the tour and it was worth it to get all the background about the chapel. This is a absolutely gorgeous place. Amazing architecture and history. Don’t forget to visit the crypt of John Paul Jones while visiting the chapel.
Rob S — Google review
This is a huge church. The dome is something else. The huge organ has the largest drawknob console in the world with 522 drawknobs.
