Located in Mount Pleasant, South Carolina, the Charles Pinckney National Historic Site is a 28-acre remnant of Charles Pinckney's original 18th-century plantation known as Snee Farm. The site offers indoor and outdoor exhibits that delve into the life and times of Charles Pinckney, who was a signer of the U.S. Constitution. Visitors can explore archaeological findings that tell the story of both Pinckney and the enslaved people who lived on the plantation.
Important parts of history are preserved here. The rangers are very knowledgeable and friendly and the 17 minute movie was interesting. There are nice short trails and it’s quite a learning experience. I’m glad I stopped!
Adventures B — Google review
Charles Pinckney National Historic Site is free to enjoy. There is a small gravel parking lot and a large covered picnic pavilion with large, nice restrooms. There is a trail around the estate. Bring bug spray! The house is pretty small with a knowledgeable ranger and a museum. There is a small store as well. The museum dies a good job of explaining the importance of the Pinckney family to our nation. It also has information on the Gullah people who descended from the enslaved people in the Charleston area, including a Gullah translation of the Bible! I found it fascinating. Overall, it's a nice, simple place to visit for an hour or so.
Tracy B — Google review
Very informative. Enjoyed going through the house/ museum (Free!!) Use bug repellent. The online hours are for the park, not the museum/house. Best to visit on a weekend.
Kristin H — Google review
This National Historic Site celebrates Charles Pinckney and his wife who invented indigo cultivation for dye. It's a small site with a generous parking lot, open area, nature trail, and historic home. The park ground are open daily but be sure to verify the house is open before you arrive. They are closed some days so you won't be able to enter or get your park stamp.
Michael B — Google review
Definitely a neat historic place to visit. I am glad I went to explore and appreciate the history there, the good and not so good. Thank you for preserving this piece of our nations history.
Brian G — Google review
This National Historic Site is a nice trip to spend a few hours at. It's less than a half day so if you need something to do or would like to learn about a South Carolina statesmen I would recommend going. Key Notes: - It's free! - The stamp for the national park book is located in the gift shop - There is parking with restrooms right by the parking area. - There is a scheduled tour, you will meet by the bathrooms in the picnic area, starts at 11:00 am. - You can go inside the house (it's not the original) for some interesting historical reads, watch a short film about Charles Pinckney and to visit the gift shop. - There are a few walking trails but you will want to bring sun screen, bug spray and wear comfortable shoes during the warm months. - Great place to have a picnic - They have doggie bags to pick up waste - They have a water fountain for filling up water bottles near the bathroom - There is poison ivy so be on the lookout. They saying to remember if it's poison ivy: If you see 3 leaves let it be, if there's 5 you're fine. I would recommend going, there is a lot to learn about this South Carolinian statesmen who played a big role in the Declaration of Independence.
Cat B — Google review
Beautiful and quiet. The rope that grew into a tree was cool and one of the giant trees you can see daylight through up towards the top. It's really great that people took the time and effort to reclaim this history for the public.
Tammy R — Google review
I didn’t go inside the house - too hot and stuff today but the grounds are beautiful! Lots of trails out in the open and through the woods through small tree tunnels. There are signs with history bites all over the property. Bathrooms are clean and there is a filtered water refill station. It is a coveted station and there are quite a few picnic tables and trash receptacles. Parking lot is a decent size (maybe 15 spots). Gravel. Leashed pet dogs are welcome everywhere except inside the house.

Nature & Parks
Mount Pleasant Memorial Waterfront Park is a picturesque 14-acre site in coastal South Carolina, offering stunning views of the Charleston Harbor and the Arthur Ravenel Bridge. It features a nautical-themed playground, a 1,250-foot pier with bench swings, and various amenities such as a war memorial, cafe, gift shop, bait and tackle store, and pavilion. The park is also known for hosting events like fishing tournaments and music nights.
Mount Pleasant Waterfront Park is a hidden gem that offers a perfect blend of natural beauty, relaxation, and recreation. The views of the Ravenel Bridge and Charleston Harbor are simply breathtaking, especially during sunrise and sunset, making it a photographer’s dream. The long pier extending over the water is ideal for a peaceful stroll, fishing, or simply taking in the serene sights and sounds of the water. The park’s well-maintained green spaces, picnic areas, and playground make it a great spot for families, while the benches along the pier invite moments of quiet reflection. There’s also a convenient gift shop and snack area, adding to the overall experience. Whether you’re a local or visiting for the first time, this park offers a slice of tranquility that leaves you feeling refreshed. Highly recommended for anyone seeking scenic views and a peaceful outing!
Arthur D — Google review
Wonderful walk under the Arthur Ravenel Jr Bridge. We saw a dolphin and lots of crabs and birds. The gift shop has lots of nice things. Restrooms are available. Plenty of parking. Plenty of places to sit and take in the scenery.
Kari F — Google review
New and beautiful. This location feels safe, it is amazingly built and a lot of research put into its location. With the bridge overhead providing shade and an amazing view. Lots of areas to fish that is well maintained. A lovely gift shop and swings, benches, chairs, picnic tables it is super welcoming. Pets are not permitted on the pier and that is kind of nice since you don't have to worry about a mess or someone having a pup that doesn't have manners. Overall this is an amazing pier and park! It also leads up go Ravenel bridge and that walk is breath taking!
Hawk C — Google review
We had such a great time at this park with my partner and our nephew! The space is clean, well-kept, and has plenty of room for kids to run and play. Our nephew loved the playground, and there were so many spots for us to relax and enjoy watching him have fun. What made it even better was how family-friendly the atmosphere felt—safe, welcoming, and full of other families enjoying the day. It really gave us the perfect chance to spend quality time together outdoors. This is definitely a park we’ll be coming back to again and again!
Corrie S — Google review
Plenty of free parking right across the visitor center. This park is free and well maintained. We visited on a week day and there were only a handful of other people walking around in the park. It’s very nice and the view of the bridge was beautiful. Be mindful of the noise of the traffic from atop the bridge though. It’s actually quite loud at times. We were able to see the York Town memorial from afar which was pretty cool. Dogs are allowed in most of the park but not on the pier which was disappointing to us. There’s a good sized cafe/gift shop at the entrance to the pier that sells breakfast at a reasonable price.
Ray W — Google review
The sunset views from this park are breathtaking—watching the sky shift from golden hues to soft pinks and purples is a moment you’ll want to savor. Whether you're with friends, family, or just flying solo, it’s a great place to kick back, enjoy some quiet time, and take in nature’s beauty.
Damira K — Google review
Absolutely great place for walking, AM or PM. We had gone later at night, and in the morning. Lots of misquotes, but it’s that time of year. You can walk up onto the bridge and overlook the water.
Sophia — Google review
Lovely, quiet morning out by the water. Nice, clean walking trails, statues, and a good place for quiet reflection or an early morning stretch.

Pitt Street Bridge, located in Mount Pleasant, South Carolina, is a popular pedestrian greenway with a rich history. It offers stunning views of Charleston Harbor, Fort Sumter, and the Intracoastal Waterway. Originally built in 1794 and spanning nearly 500 feet, this historic bridge provides a scenic route for walkers and cyclists to enjoy the natural beauty of the area. The site also features a public boardwalk for fishing enthusiasts seeking spot tail bass and blue crabs.
A wonderful place to visit. It is currently under renovation so there are limitations. But it's a nice quick walk or bike path. If you're a cyclist the area around is also wonderful to tour. Plenty to love.
Jonfit04 — Google review
Great spot to walk! We visited early morning on a weekday and there was plenty of parking alongside there street. Fish were fun to watch jumping out of the water. Nice and quiet and peaceful.
Kristin — Google review
As Charleston photographers, we love Pitt Street Bridge. We've photographed proposals, weddings, yoga teachers, family sessions, and maternity sessions there. You've got great views of the water, the marshes, and the nearby bridges. Sunsets can be amazing as well. We've never had a bad day at Pitt Street.
Ben ( — Google review
A really great place to watch sunset and/or sit and relax. Plenty of parking by the road, just before the park. We got to see a really pretty sunset although the clouds came in just as the sun was about to disappear. I would advice wearing covered clothes as there are flies and bugs close to the water.
Ajimon T — Google review
Saw lots of fish jumping when we got there around 10am. Tried fishing for them but didn't catch any. We did sight a big sheepshead (zebra) fish at the end of the walk.
Njfishing1 — Google review
Lovely! Great spot for fishing, crabbing and enjoying the scenic view.
Joan P — Google review
I can’t believe I lived in Charleston for almost 9 years without ever visiting this park/bridge. Wandered over here on a Saturday afternoon and wasn’t disappointed! Views are awesome in every direction, people were fishing, biking, walking… The park has a lot of character and it’s somewhat of a hidden gem I’d say. I will definitely be back with my camera for some sunset photos of the Charleston cityscape with the bridge!
Travis I — Google review
Well it was just the old bridge when I was a kid living on Simmons St. Was there several times a week in the summer, that or the slip and slide. Interesting and groundbreaking techniques were used when it crossed ICW to Sullivan's. Had a train I believe used to fortify Moultrie and Thompson battery's. Regardless the view hasn't changed nor the smell of pluff mud. Love that place.

Palmetto Islands County Park in Mount Pleasant is a sprawling 943-acre nature retreat offering paved trails, picnic spots, and access for fishing, crabbing, and kayaking. Nestled along Horlbeck Creek off the Wando River, this park boasts the Osprey Trail—a scenic one-mile loop through woodlands with marsh and creek views. Families can enjoy boardwalks, bike paths, an observation deck, and picnic facilities with grills.
Lovely place to get 'lost' in South Carolina. They have unpaved trails as well as boardwalks. It was quiet in early February. A good amount of wildlife or at least evidence of it. Bring a good lens and camera to get bird photos. I imagine it's crazy busy during the summer, so time your visit right.
Kay — Google review
First time going here with 3 kids. They loved the observation tower. They also really liked the storybook walk it was short enough and had signs with little poems on them. Plus seeing all the crabs and lizards running around was really cool. It was super hot so we decided to go to the pool it was so nice for younger kids. The toddler splash pad type pool was super close to the swimming pool I could stand there with my toddler and still clearly see my older kids. The swimming pool didn't go deeper then 3 1/2 feet deep I think. It was really fun and decently priced.
Sarah R — Google review
Very impressed with this county park. Multiple trails and areas to explore. Beautiful scenery as you are surrounded by marsh and trees. Highly recommend if you are in the Charleston SC area.
Patrick M — Google review
BRING BUG SPRAY!!! Great spot for a walk in the outdoors. It’s nice to have a place IN MT PLEASANT that truly feels like an escape. There are paved paths and more trail-like paths. The girls had a great time on the playground and the staff was helpful when we were lost. Love the county parks. $2 per entry unless a child is under 2 (free) Or free entry with the Parks Gold Pass Cannot emphasize bug spray enough 🦟
SOPHIE A — Google review
Unassumingly cool park. It's not huge, but definitely large enough to enjoy a nice walk out in nature among the woods and marshes. Wildlife everywhere. Birds nesting deep in the marsh grasses. You can hear them calling out to each other, sometimes even just a few feet away from you, but you can't see them. What you can see are the thousands upon thousands of teeny tiny marsh crabs skittering about everywhere. Very cool, if not slightly unsettling! The observation tower provides a beautiful view, although it seemed a tad wobbly. Might want to look into that! Facilities seemed nice. There were fishing docks, picnic pavilions for rent, etc. We loved their old 70s logo. Almost wanted to buy a shirt!
Brady B — Google review
Had a really nice walk along the paths. Easily accessible. Great views
Cathy B — Google review
Great park, not crowded at all. The squirrels at the park will be curious if you pull out food. Well maintained, clean, $2 admission. Alot larger than I expected when google playgrounds near me lol. It has a 5 and under playground with the larger playground.
MommaShark — Google review
Excellent park for walking the dog, both paved and gravel trails along the water. Plenty of parking near trails and restrooms on the trail. Definitely will visit every time we are in the area, highly recommend.

The Arthur Ravenel Jr. Bridge is a stunning architectural marvel that gracefully spans the Cooper River, linking Downtown Charleston to Mount Pleasant. Completed in 2005, this iconic cable-stayed bridge replaced older structures and boasts one of the longest main spans in the Western Hemisphere at an impressive 471 meters. Its striking triangular arches are beautifully illuminated at night, creating a picturesque scene for evening strolls or bike rides along its dedicated lanes.
My wife and i decided to walk across the bridge early Friday morning. What a fun and enjoyable walk. The temperature was a little cool in the morning but once we got our heart rate up we were fine. We were greeted by pretty much everyone we came across with much friendliness.
Richard K — Google review
Beautiful designed bridge that connects Charleston to Mt. Pleasant. There’s a walk path that goes the length of the bridge. Best part is no toll.
Andrew I — Google review
Brilliant design which stands out in the distance of the Charleston skyline. However, what makes this bridge really unique is the public footpath for walking, running and cycling. Well worth a jog over.
Carlos U — Google review
I once drove our public school bus across the old Cooper River bridge to deposit it in Mount Pleasant for the summer, from Summerville - I was in the 11th grade! Times have changed, and so has the bridge. Both are beautiful in their own way!
Pastor D — Google review
An interesting and beautiful walk. For much of it, because you don't see the piers and you sense some movement due to traffic, it feels like you are walking on a floating concrete path.
Paul C — Google review
We got to see this bridge from The battery as we watched the sunrise. It’s in the distance but what a beautiful bridge
Jenita D — Google review
Great bridge walk, run, ride. Only entered from the north side. Lots of free parking underneath. Supposed to be walkers one one lane, bikes in other. Lots of people have problems with that concept.
Frank Y — Google review
Great experience to be at the top - center of the bridge. If you’re in Charleston, try hiking on the bridge, a great view of the peninsula up there

Shem Creek Park in Mount Pleasant, South Carolina offers a serene escape to explore the coastal marshes and wildlife. The park features a 2200-foot boardwalk providing stunning views of Charleston Harbor and the shrimping and fishing boats at Shem Creek. Visitors can enjoy a leisurely stroll along waterfront boardwalks, passing by beautiful homes and ending with a pedestrian ocean walk at Pitt St.
I absolutely love it here. Next time I visit this area I will be sure to make this one of my stops. The scenery is gorgeous, the environment is fun, the food is delicious. You can rent kayaks and when the shrimp boats come in at high tide you can see the dolphins.

Absolutely beautiful! Clean walkways and boardwalks. Plenty of benches, trash receptacles. Restrooms are clean and well-maintained. Didn’t see any dolphins this time, will have to return!!!

Beautiful boardwalk for a leisurely walk through the marsh. There is no shortage of wildlife. We took our stroll around sunset which was perfect. It seemed to be very popular with fishermen and kayakers too.

Beautiful place to watch a sunrise at the ground level in the marsh. I would love to come back in the evening for the restaurants. My wife went tot he road on the bridge and was able to capture more picture of the sunrise. Overall, great experience.

Mount Pleasant Pier is a 1,250-foot-long modern pier located in the charming town of Mount Pleasant, South Carolina. It is part of the Memorial Waterfront Park complex and offers stunning views of Charleston Harbor and the Arthur Ravenel Jr. Bridge. The pier features bench swings, a pavilion for events, a cafe/gift shop, and a fenced-in play park shaded by the bridge. Visitors can enjoy fishing from the pier or simply relax on rocking chairs while taking in the picturesque surroundings.
Breathtaking walk down the pier and under the magnificent bridge. You have to pay a fee to fish off of this. There is a shop at the beginning of the pier where you can buy the fishing pass and souvenirs. It also connects to a boardwalk, a local park, and the bridge. Lots of runners there!
Julia R — Google review
Loved this pier/park. Very clean, and beautifully laid out. There were nice walking paths and, a playground that mirrored the design of the bridge. A lovely water feature with seating around it, and another area had a splash pad, skating area, and basketball courts. Plenty of lawn space for picnics and watching kids run around. The actual pier was spectacular. There are plenty of shaded seating areas, and tables to sit at. The fishing areas were clean and it was fun watching the patrons catch fish, turtles, and even a sting ray (which all got thrown back in). The views are lovely all around and the sunset was peaceful.
Kim M — Google review
This place was great. Playgrounds. Splash pad. Gift shop. However the fishing was abysmal. We went in the afternoon and didn’t account for the tides. Even walking to the end of the dock the water was maybe 1.5- 2’ deep. The first half of the dock was just over wet sand. That is my fault but man it was disappointing. Me and numerous other anglers were skunked. Still a nice place but either go super early or super late if you want to fish.
Corey S — Google review
Awesome place with large playground close by under the bridge. Great place to stay out of the sun, and a perfect place for a walk at sunset. Plenty of parking, and can grab a drink (beer and wine) and walk to the end of the pier. Nice modern pier, and plenty of seating.
Andrew M — Google review
Great views of the bridge. Plenty of free parking. A shop with food and stuff. Lots of benches to sit and people watch. You can fish but need to pay. Lots of fancy playground equipment for young kids.
Frank Y — Google review
Great pier in my opinion I love how it’s kind of shaded by that big bridge! It really depends on the tide to what you you’re going to catch, but we were able to catch one good pen fish around 1pm. I love how the gift shop offers pole rentals. It’s a great plus if you’re From out of town and wanting to fish. The pier was pretty busy from people walking and running to fishing with their kids. People from all ages and all different nationalities 🙌🏻 Everyone seem to be very nice and friendly! As it should be
Bree G — Google review
The pier is great! There are several bathrooms and playground areas for kids. The parking was super easy to get to.

Charleston City Market is a historic 4-block market that has been around for over 200 years. It's a hub for local artisans selling sweetgrass baskets, leather goods, art, and more. The market also offers a variety of food options and fresh farm-to-table produce. The architectural significance of the buildings adds to the charm of this cultural hotspot. Visitors can explore the area and indulge in local cuisine at nearby eateries like Butcher and Bee or Home Team BBQ.
I recently visited the Charleston City Market during my trip to Charleston and really enjoyed the experience. The market is surprisingly long and filled with a wide variety of vendors. There’s just about anything you can think of for sale like local crafts, handmade goods, art, souvenirs, and more. It’s a great place to walk through, browse, and find something unique to take home.
James W — Google review
The Charleston City Market is always a fun stop when visiting the city. There’s a little bit of everything here, so it’s easy to find souvenirs or unique gifts. Prices can be on the higher side, but that’s pretty standard for a tourist spot. On one of my first visits, a kid handed me a palm rose, and before I knew it, a man was chasing me down asking for $5—it gave off a bit of a New York street hustle vibe. The market is usually crowded and can get very hot in the summer, but there’s a small indoor section with food options, air conditioning, and surprisingly clean bathrooms, which was a welcome break.

Love shopping at the Charleston city market! Lots of great Christmas and birthday gift ideas! People are friendly and there is so much to look at. We also took an E-bike ride to the pineapple fountain and enjoyed sitting by the waterfront. Don’t miss a horse-drawn carriage ride around the city, in the evening, complete with spooky ghost stories and delicious restaurants all around. Overall, Charleston is a fun walkable city with lots of history and a fun vibe!

We checked out the Charleston City Market during the week. It was busy so I can only imagine the weekends. There is street parking and multiple lots available. Lots of local vendors and food available. What I like is that the market is covered. Most of it has fans above to try and keep the vendors and shoppers cool. Part of the market is enclosed with air conditioning. We found a few interesting items and tried some of the food. I would suggest checking it out if you make the trip to Charleston.

A beautifully designed market with a pleasant and welcoming atmosphere. Partially air-conditioned, featuring charming shops and stalls. The vendors are friendly, not pushy, and very customer-focused. There’s a great variety of products to discover, and plenty of good food options around the market. Definitely worth a visit!

This is a must see, local artist, specialty booths and tons of Charleston charm. Had a wonderful time, bought a few Charleston Christmas Ornaments, a few pieces of jewelry and some gifts. The outdoor Market has air-conditioning for those hot days. Would recommend this as a place to visit .

It was just okay. I visited 20 years ago and it was much less commercial with more handcrafted arts available. Sadly, other than the baskets and paintings there was very little art and a whole lot of factory made junk. Was so sad that even the sea grass baskets were mass produced and really marked up in price. We loved watching the elders sit on a blanket and weave the baskets, not the vendors are youth playing on their phones chewing gum.

Rainbow Row is a collection of 13 vibrant rowhouses in Charleston's Historic District, dating back to the 18th and 19th centuries. These pastel-painted Georgian-style buildings are a popular tourist attraction, offering a glimpse into the city's rich history. Visitors can join guided tours that explore the LGBTQ+ history of the area, with proceeds supporting the College of Charleston's SC LGBTQ Archive. Alternatively, self-guided tours using an online map are also available.
We took a quick walk downtown to the waterfront park and then walked around to get to Rainbow Row. Not the easiest to see if you just drive by because of the trees, so walking is really a must! There's street parking and some parking garages not too far and it's such a happy little place. We loved seeing it!

Beautiful place!! What a lovely idea to fill everything with colors 🌈 Without a doubt, a place full of history and beauty 💗🫶🏻 Perfect for taking photos, but if you visit on the weekend, like I did, be prepared to wait for places to take them 📸 The heat was also intense! Apart from that, the place is truly enjoyable.

Beautiful place to visit. The weather was just right (early September), when my family and I went. Charleston,SC is such a charming place to see. I think it's a romantic place. Rainbow row is as beautiful as I've seen in other pictures. The area is a historic landmark. People running as they exercise and walking their doggies. You can smell the ocean water as you walk near the pier near by. Some parking around is free after a certain time in the day. There wasn't large crowds when I visited. The sunset was stunning! I highly recommend to visit.

Charleston Fun Park is an exciting indoor/outdoor center offering a variety of activities for all ages. From paintball and go-karts to mini-golf and a climbing wall, there's something for everyone. The park also features an arcade, bumper cars, and even an outdoor axe throwing arena. Families can enjoy classic theme park food like hot dogs and ice cream while the kids play, making it the perfect stop before heading out for other Charleston adventures.
Came after a rain storm and the putt putt was flooded. We were told beforehand and decided to play anyways. Made it more challenging! Aside from that the two course options and theme/decorations on them were great! Had a great time with that and did not do any of the other activities but it looked like others were having fun. The staff was friendly and helpful. They have great deals with other businesses in the area.

Nice location to brings kids for a party. We only visited the arcade which was fun. 3 kids were able to play the VR Omni game which is $10/person. Then we played some at the arcade. Prices for games is pretty high compared to other places. Only a few games for $1. Even air hockey was $1.75. Otherwise seemed like a nice location to visit again.

My bridesmaids and I had so much fun playing a round of putt putt here for my bachelorette trip! Definitely the cleanest putt putt/arcade I have ever been to. Most recent visit we worked with an employee Kato who was super pleasant and patient with my kids while they picked prizes. We had misplaced a stuffed animal we won and had given up and were about to leave, but he went above and beyond and helped us track it down. He chased us into the parking lot and officially became my daughter’s hero. Thank you!!

Beautiful park with a gazebo, cannons, walking trails and statues. Waterway blocked off for a large construction project going on. Beautiful old homes line the streets. Interesting area to visit overlooking Ft Sumpter. No admission fee.

Great place for a walk or run along the wall. Peaceful to stand and watch the boats going by. This seawall acts as a defense against storm surges and high tides, an increasingly important function due to rising sea levels. Parking was easy and free when we were passing through.

Fort Sumter National Monument, located in Charleston Harbor, is a significant historical site that played a pivotal role in the American Civil War. Accessible by boat, visitors can explore the ruins, gun emplacements, and a museum while learning about its place in American history. The fort saw the first shots of the Civil War when Confederate forces attacked it in 1861. Managed by the National Park Service, this nearly 200-year-old fort offers breathtaking views of downtown Charleston and the surrounding harbor.
Greatly enjoyed the ferry ride to and from the island, and of couse exploringthe island itself. It is a bit pricy but one has to take the ferry and historic site maintenance into account. All the staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful and had a sense of humor. Lots of cool history to see on the island itself,as well as seabirds and some cargo shipping going by. Some thought provoking exhibits in the visitor center as well. A nice, informative, relaxing excursion all round.
Emily B — Google review
Our national park ranger was amazing. We were there for the taking down of the flag, which was a cool thing to see, especially with a flag the size of the storm flag on the fort. The ferry ride was nice too. Plenty of places to sit in the shade and still see all around.
Brandy B — Google review
Well worth it. The guides were very passionate about history and getting out on the water to see the fort and surrounding islands was super cool! Price was right. We also saw dolphins on our journey. There is no bathroom on the fort so make sure you use it while on the ferry. Also a museum and gift shop.
Kristen G — Google review
We visited this place by ferry and the volunteer was very nice and informative. They explained very well the history of the fort. In the fort you have old Canon and ammunition to see and also some unexploded bombs stuck in the walls (still there) of the fort. Once you are there, you can feel the emotions and spirit of the braves. Highly recommend

We took the boat there from Liberty Square. Great inexpensive Parking option at the Aquarium parking garage. If you take the 1st boat you can help raise the flag at Fort Sumter.

Being on an island in the harbor, a visit to Ft. Sumter involves two boat trips and a self guided tour of the fort. It's a great place to walk around to see cannons, bulwarks and explanations of the original event.
Rick N — Google review
Fort Sumter was a great experience and would recommend to anyone interested in American History. Remember to book your ferry tickets in advance, I chose the ferry that left from Liberty Square since it had move available time slots. If you take the first ferry of the day you get to experience the flag raising ceremony at the Fort itself which was cool. When on the ferry to the Fort, if the day is nice I would recommend sitting on the upper deck it has the better views of the harbor.

Waterfront Park, also known as Joe Riley Waterfront Park, is a popular 12-acre open space in Charleston offering stunning views of the harbor and the Cooper River. The park features a large lawn, walkways, fountains, public gardens, and two piers for fishing or relaxation. It is famous for its iconic Pineapple Fountain and serves as a gathering place for residents and visitors to enjoy the picturesque scenery of Charleston Harbor and the Arthur Ravenel Jr. Bridge.
Waterfront Park (Pineapple waterfront Park) located in Downtown is a beautiful and serene destination that perfectly combines natural beauty with peaceful urban escape. Located along the Charleston harbor, it offers breathtaking views of the water, especially during sunrise and sunset. The park is well-maintained with wide walking paths, tall palm trees, and inviting green lawns that make it ideal for both relaxation and light recreation. The iconic Pineapple Fountain is a favorite spot for visitors and a perfect backdrop for photos. Benches are placed throughout the park, allowing visitors to sit and enjoy the sea breeze and the sound of gently lapping waves. The pier with swinging benches adds a charming touch, and it’s a great place to unwind or have thoughtful conversations with friends or family. Families with kids will appreciate the open space and safe environment, while couples often stroll hand in hand along the waterfront. One of the best features is how welcoming and accessible the park is—it’s clean, pet-friendly, and just a short walk from downtown Charleston’s shops and restaurants. Whether you’re visiting for a short break or spending a whole afternoon, Waterfront Park offers a calm, scenic retreat that leaves you refreshed and inspired. Highly recommended!

What can I say it's a fountain? And it works, it does have a nice view and surroundings. It's hard to get a very outstanding picture. Because there are so many other people standing around, and the only reason why I actually stopped is because my wife was all excited about seeing it. Period if you go, you'll feel safe.Everything's clean, just straight up.Good time, especially with all the trees down the walkways.

Couldn’t take many photos because my phone ran out of battery during the walk, but it’s such a beautiful place to stroll with a dog. Lots of people were running, walking, and biking while enjoying the scenery. I was worried the weather might be cloudy, but thankfully it cleared up, even though it was quite windy. The Pineapple Fountain wasn’t as big as I expected, but it was still worth seeing. I didn’t want to wait in line, so I took a photo from the other side, haha. The tree-shaded areas and piers were beautiful, and the vast wetlands with ocean views were stunning! Since it was Sunday, parking was free.
HJ C — Google review
Waterfront Park is such a fun park to walk through or sit down in for a little bit. It has the most beautiful view of the channel, where, on a lucky day, you can see the families of dolphins surfacing to come up for air. Of course, it also has the Pineapple Fountain, and the other spray fountain (not sure what it's called) that the kids love to play in in the summertime. The only downsides are that if you're driving there, parking can be a little hard to find, and it can be VERY muggy in the summer. Other than that, I love simply sitting in Waterfront Park and taking in all of the beautiful scenery.
John D — Google review
Beautiful and free to roam day or night. Lots of nice displays of monuments, art-sculptures, and beautiful homes. Great walking trail with piers to enjoy the water or fish. Lots of open green space to enjoy and a playground for the kids.

Not very much to do here, but if you appreciate Confederate history, you'll have fun here and enjoy the monuments, and if you're a whiny liberal snowflake, I recommend you stay away from here... The Confederate monuments might hurt your sissy feelings.... On a serious note, there is a lot of rich history here and it is amazing to know this city still has an endearment attitude towards the confederacy.... Beautiful!!!!

The College of Charleston recently hosted a captivating series of events focused on slow food, culminating in an engaging finale at the Rita Liddy Hollings Science Center. Additionally, the college's art gallery in downtown Charleston showcases diverse exhibits and supports emerging artists, many of whom are associated with the college.
The Greek text ΓΝΩΘΙ ΣΑΥΤΟΝ (transliterated as Gnothi Sauton) means “Know Yourself” in English. This phrase originates from ancient Greek philosophy and was famously inscribed at the Temple of Apollo in Delphi. It serves as a key philosophical tenet, urging individuals to engage in self-reflection and understand their own nature, limitations, and place in the world. It is often associated with Socrates, who emphasized self-awareness as the foundation of wisdom and ethical living. This concept has since become a cornerstone in Western philosophical thought.

Nestled in a serene grassy park area near Charleston Harbor, the Cold War Submarine Memorial stands as a tribute to the brave submariners who served during the tense years of the Cold War from 1947 to 1989. This unique memorial is designed to resemble the sail and rudder of the USS Lewis and Clark SSBN 644, symbolizing not only the valor of those who manned these vessels but also honoring civilians and military personnel whose unwavering support was crucial for mission success.
Nice tribute to Submariners. The grounds are well maintained. Vehicle parking you will need to park on side of road. Or at the ball field next to site.

Located on Charleston Harbor, the Cold War Submarine Memorial stands as an enduring tribute to the dedicated men who served in our submarines during this unique and dangerous period in our nation's history; to their families who remained behind and managed alone at home during their long absences; and to the men and women, both civilian and military, who provided the superb support that assured the remarkable success of their missions. One corner of Patriot’s Point that you may not have noticed at first is the Cold War Memorial. Its design, size, and sheer emotion will move you beyond words. The monument is a Fleet Ballistic Missile Submarine rising from under the ground beside the highway. It is breathtaking. The monument’s design placed the sail and rudder of the USS Louis and Clark where they would be on the submarine. This gives a unique perspective of the sheer size of the boat. Around the site is a walking trail with educational stations to pay homage to the sacrifice and risk these men took.

Thank You, Thank You, to all the men of the silent service. I would put this memorial in my top 10 because it is a thoughtful work of art. What these sailors did to keep the peace will never be truly known. I thank them for keeping the other side in check. A must visit for any persons who have uttered the words thank you for your service to any military member. Clean and shaded, but no bathrooms.

I guess since they lost the display sub this is what they do now here. From 100 foot away it looks like a sub surfacing through the grass. Get close and you see the concrete. I went to the point expecting to see a real submarine along with the carrier and destroyer. Had no idea the sub sunk and was towed away.
Vance W — Google review
Was looking forward to learning about the submarines but found little information. The park has more information about the war and the heros than on the submarines. There are many benches and stone tables dedicated to the heros that fought in the wars. There is a mound that looks like a submarine and 2 pieces of the tops of a real submarine. I would have loved to know what they came off and if the mounds were a life-size replica of submarine. The information stands are in need of updating, they are fading and peeling. I feel like this place just needs a little love and sprucing up. If you are in the area, come check it out.

Benches for Submarines of the Cold War Era. The George W Carver crew raised money and placed a bench in the park. We've had 2 impromptu reunions there and a memorial service for those shipmates who have passed since our last full reunion. There are many benches there now. A beautiful place to reflect on times and memories of that era.

Laurel Hill County Park is tucked away at the back of the Park West Sports Complex. The trails are shaded with tree canopies. The paths were recently cleared and roots shaved down to provide an even and clear walking surface. While walking we saw a barred owl, woodpecker, and bald eagle. We went the day after a heavy rain and the trails were a bit muddy. I recommend sneakers or shoes good for mud if you go after a rain. On a non-rain day, all footwear is acceptable. It was little tricky to find as Google takes you to the 41 entrance that leads to a chained gate. Eventually we found the correct entrance on Park West Blvd. Once in the lot, you drive all the way to the farthest baseball fields with plentiful parking. Tip: take a photo of the trail maps as you can get turned around at the forks in the trails.

Peaceful Park but Needs a Few Improvements The park is wonderful—very secluded and feels like a true escape from the city noise. It’s a great spot to unwind! However, there are a couple of issues. Bugs are abundant (understandable for a forested area), but some treatment could help manage them. Also, there are no trash cans, which is inconvenient, especially for the many dog walkers who have nowhere to dispose of waste bags. Overall, a lovely spot that could benefit from a few small improvements!

Absolutely gorgeous park, with wide, well maintained trails and a variety of different scenery. We did the orange and white trail, which was about 3 miles. Beautiful forests, with a variety of critters. And then it opens up into an amazing avenue of oaks in the heart of the park. Highly recommend for a scenic, easy, interesting walk!

Nice trails, very confusing directions. It seems the normal way to access the park is to drive to the Laurel Hill County Park Trailhead (there's a separate Google Maps pin) in the NW corner of the Park West Sports Complex. Park by baseball field 3 and take the path between it and a large grass field. There is a very inconspicuous sign marking the path. Once you find it, though, there are nice trails. We biked the 5 mile loop and while it was fairly rough for my hybrid bike, it's pretty compact and well-cleared. The oak allee is pretty, and we saw several large birds. There are several options for shorter loops, as well. If you don't have a pass, bring a dollar to deposit at the trailhead, or you can pay by phone

Excellent trail and beautiful scenery. Walked with 34 lb weighted vest so great workout red route.

Spent a lovely spring Saturday morning walking the loop. Saw a baby alligator at one of the ponds. Enjoyed the oak alley. Saw lots of people on the trail but it wasn’t crowded. Can’t wait to do it again!

Former plantation land, can still find remnants of brick from the ruins of the house that once stood here if you look carefully. The alley of oaks that lines the former driveway is very pretty. Cool place with a fading history

Located within the College of Charleston, the Halsey Institute of Contemporary Art is a hub for both emerging and established modern artists. The institute hosts a variety of events including film screenings, lectures, and symposia to encourage artistic exploration and discussion. With its focus on specific subjects related to history and culture, the gallery offers free seasonal exhibitions that rotate every three months.
A highlight of our Charleston visit. Free to visit and admire the wonders of modern artists with an international and native points of perception. Also, to learn about every aspect of creativity in the dedicated library. Left inspired and grateful to diversity of self-expression. Highly recommend.

An incredibly interesting art museum. Highly recommend going to the back to see both short videos about the artists/displays. I was particularly intrigued by the discussion and artistic display of caodaism.

The main building houses the excellent gallery space as well as exhibit space in the hallways - all of it was worth viewing. This is located on the College of Charleston’s campus and is free to the public but a donation is suggested. We enjoyed the art and would definitely revisit when we are in Charleston.

Small but mighty exhibits provided for the can't be beaten price of free. This isn't a huge museum, so you won't be spending a whole afternoon here, but it's a great option to stop in, get out of the heat, and see something new. If I lived in the area I would absolutely come back as the exhibits change regularly.

Impressive little gallery where you can browse a variety of student work, read the artist statements, and even purchase works in miniature from an Artomat vending machine. You'll also find a small biblioteca tucked away within the main gallery space; I wish we'd had more time to peruse it. The Namsa Leuba exhibition, Crossed Looks, was an explosion of powerful and vibrant images, and there's a sort of grotto where you can watch a short video about the artist and her work. We'll be back in January for Dyani White Hawk. This place is clearly doing great things in the community .

The Charleston Farmers Market, located in Marion Square since 1989, is a vibrant weekly outdoor market showcasing an array of locally sourced produce and artisan crafts. Visitors can enjoy browsing through the diverse selection of seasonal fruits and vegetables while sampling delectable treats like nuts, cheese, olives, and cakes. In addition to the fresh produce, the market also features local craftspeople offering handmade goods and a variety of food vendors serving up delicious breakfast, lunch, or dinner options.
What a great experience we had here! We stumbled upon this event when we went out in search of coffee. Such an adorable environment. We ate at the breakfast place. I don’t know the name of it but it was delicious. I witness them serving a homeless person at no charge. It was so nice to see. I loved seeing all of the artisans. My favorite were the handmade wooden bowls. I wish I had bought one!

Good mix of food and crafts vendors. It's a pretty small market and can become quite crowded on popular weekends. It's a nice setting to buy some food and picnic in Marion Square. Most of the vendors were pretty engaging and there was a nice variety of artwork. We always look forward to attending while in town.

A bit small but had a great variety of local artists and a small selection of fresh local farm produce. I got some delicious blackberries. I got to meet a lot of fun makers. Great farmers market with lots of stuff for everyone. Produce, food, drinks, local arts and crafts, and much more. There is usually some sort of live music. Pet friendly so feel free to bring Fido. Parking can be a challenge but that's standard for most of downtown Charleston. Great place to pick up Charleston souvenirs or local produce.

Nestled just a few miles from downtown Charleston, the historic Magnolia Cemetery Trust offers a serene and picturesque escape from the city. Established in 1850 on former plantation land, it served as the main burial place for many influential citizens of Charleston. The cemetery's scenic river views, moss-hung oaks, and hundreds of ornate 19th-century sculptures make it an excellent spot for photography, leisurely walks, or even a peaceful picnic.
This is worth the trip if you enjoy beautiful old cemeteries. This is peaceful, beautiful and full of history. It would take several days to see the cemetery in its entirety. We barely touched the surface in the few hours we were there. I highly recommend stopping even if to just drive through and see the beauty of the place. Reading the tombstones gives you a glimpse back in time.

We really found the Magnolia Cemetery to be well kept and extremely interesting. This cemetery is huge but fortunately they allow vehicles to very slowly drive through. Checking with the office or sending a request for a location would be extremely helpful. Some of the famous graves are also reviewed on Google Maps which will provide a GPS to find them.

We had a nice historical Peaceful Saturday visit after we had a very enjoyable lunch nearby. The cemetery is a National landmark and well kept. You can walk through both cemetery’s at the posted opening and closing times. The crew members of the historic Confederate Submarine are buried in the rear entrance of the main entrance...a beautiful walk with nature, wildlife, flowers, a pond, (no fishing aloud), and a historical history trail weaving throughout the cemetery. You can drive very slowly on the narrow paths, walk or ride a bike. There are so many artistically old and beautiful gravesites and monuments to view from the past. The craftsmanship is beautiful. It was very sunny out today, with a beautiful cool breeze. I’ve posted some pictures from the Magnolia Cemetery and the Bethany Cemetery which are on the same roadway adjacent to each other.

I came here to visit the gravesite's of the H.L. Hunley crew. What a beautiful old cemetery, my friends tell me it's morbid to visit here doing my travels to different cities. But in my opinion there's more history here among the dead then the living.

Just experienced this theater for the first time. I saw The Sound of Music which was fabulous! The set designs were amazing. I especially loved the night sky. The ability of the artists was way beyond my expectations. The music was excellent from the singers to the orchestra. The theater itself is historic and beautiful. You may want to bring a pillow to sit on as the seats get hard after a while.

Charleston is home to a thriving arts scene, including the Dock Street Theatre, America's first permanent playhouse. America’s first theater – designed solely for theatrical performances. It was built in 1736, was remodeled several times, and now serves its original purpose. It is also one of the most photographed buildings in the city . Built on the corner of Church Street and Dock Street (now known as Queen Street), the Historic Dock Street Theatre was the first structure in America built exclusively to be used for theatrical performances. Flora, the first opera performance in America, took place at the Historic Dock Street Theatre. Now owned and managed by the City of Charleston, the Historic Dock Street Theatre (soon to enter its fourth century as the heart of Charleston's artistic life) is home to many of the City's finest cultural institutions.

I love old cemeteries and have been to over 200 hundred in New England, but I wanted to see how the designs and images on gravestones in Charleston compared with New England gravestones carved before 1800. I was surprised to see some of the typical skull with wings or soul effigy with wings that are so common in New England, but what surprised me were the number of gravestones with very finely carved images or likenesses of the deceased. If you like old gravestones, then this is a "must see" burial ground.

Splash Island Waterpark is a delightful seasonal destination located within the lush surroundings of Mount Pleasant's Palmetto Islands County Park. This charming waterpark offers a variety of attractions that cater to families, making it an ideal spot for both toddlers and preteens. Guests can enjoy the thrill of sliding down the impressive 200-foot body flume slide or splashing around in the shallow pool filled with fountains and sprays.
This water park was awesome! Perfect place for kids of all ages. My 4 and 6 year old boys had a blast. Plenty of seating, even on a Saturday. I loved that they had food available for purchase. We also enjoyed walking on the nature trails nearby in the park and playing on the playground. So much fun!
Beth B — Google review
Cute water park for kids. One big slide for 48" and above and the rest is little kid friendly. The staff was friendly and I was very impressed by the lifeguards. They were active, paying attention and in constant rotation and communication. I would say the concrete was extremely hot. I've never encountered a water park that you weren't able to walk on within reason even with excessive heat. This is dangerous especially for little kids. This was the only reason it didnt get a 5 star.
Tiffany P — Google review
I encourage you to get there when it opens at 10am to enjoy it before things get crowded (around 11:30ish). My 5 and 3 year old had a lot of fun! The lifeguards were great.

Not too crowded. We were there in the morning and there is plenty of shade. This is a great place for smaller kids maybe up to age 10. I thought it was clean with plenty of life guards.
Jane C — Google review
Splash island is JOKE! Don’t waste your time or money. The bathrooms were awful. They have about 12 lifeguards on staff walking around a splash pad with recuse tubes pretending like someone might drown in ankle deep water. With all those people, apparently they have no one to clean a bathroom. There is no lazy river. They have one “big slide” that is incredibly slow. However you have to be 48” tall to ride it. The problem is that if you actually have a kid that’s 48” tall, well that’s the ONLY thing for them to do. Everything else is pretty much for small kids. My 7 year old was too big for all the baby stuff, but 1” too short for the “big” slide. I questioned them if I could go down the slide with her and they said no. Then I watched their summer camp kids who were 6” shorter than my child go down the slide. Also I should mention, half of the summer camp kids had on life jackets because they couldn’t swim. The slide empties into maybe 3 1/2’ of water. My child was a much better swimmer than any of the other kids going down the big slide. So mad, we left the park after maybe 15 minutes. Called the park managers and the girl was extremely rude and unhelpful in resolving the situation. DON’T WASTE YOUR TIME AT THIS DUMP OF A PLACE.
Robert D — Google review
This could be a really great little waterpark but needs a little work. First, they need a better more efficient process for cleaning the pool when there is a "UFO"- it would shut both pools down for ~45 mins. Second, the staff needs a little more supervision. The staff is almost exclusively high schoolers, and the food from the concession stand took over 30 mins and was cold. My kids still had fun.
Ann S — Google review
This us a great place to cool off with your kids. Lots of water play areas, fountains, and a really cool water slide. The lifeguards there are constantly watching the kids. One kid started struggling staying above water while we were there and the lifeguard jumped into action very quickly. I was impressed. Not expensive and we could have stayed there all day. Definitely worth checking out!

I always forget to make reviews!! But I make them all at once lol. This was a great place to come by! entry is free! The guy who was there was super sweet and we had a wonderful informative conversation! They have a cute little things you can purchase; my husband and I bought a cup and coasters! You cannot beat the fact that this gem of a find is free for all! We were able find parking at a meter (free) in front of the museum/college. There's other parking nearby if that's full. Go up the stairs to access the museum part itself. It was our first time and we were so impressed! There's a little fossil dig within one of the larger fossil rooms where you can collect a free find. There were a couple rooms to go through and so many fossils! It was heaven, really! I would definitely go there again as I didn't get to spend as much time as I wanted to since we were with family and that means different attention spans. I would like to come back to visit on my own terms. The program being offered through the College seems like a good one worth checking out if this is your thing! There are a couple Dino exhibits sprinkled out on the first floor as well. Highly recommend for all ages, even for younger kids!

Really cool little science museum, packed full of different kinds of fossils and information. The only issue is the museum is pretty small, depending on your kids attention span it could take anywhere from 5 to 30 minutes. Still definitely worth a look!
Ryan K — Google review
First off because it is connected to a college, entry is free. Our kid wants to be a paleontologist. So this was convenient and right up her ally. The displays were well thought out and beautifully done. Although small (one floor) it was very informative and the student currently studying paleontology was very informative. We learned a lot. And it is wonderful to know this school has a supported program for paleontology.

This is a great experience for a science lover or family alike. Located on the campus of the College of Charleston, we took our kids to this free museum, and they thought it was super cool. There are bathrooms in the building if needed. Street parking is metered, but reasonable, and the art museum of the college is down the street a short walk. Check this out if you are doing a Charleston day trip!

We stopped by this museum with our 6 and 8 year old dinosaur lovers. It is located on the 2nd floor of the math/science building at College of Charleston. I didn't know what to expect and how much there was to see....so we paid for 2 hours at the parking meter. We could have definitely seen everything in 30 minutes to an hour. We spent 45 minutes there. It's not very big. It's basically one small room with whale/dolphin fossils, a large room with all the other fossils/artifacts, and the large displays in the lobby of the 2nd floor. But there are some very cool prehistoric fossils of dinosaurs, sea creatures, and more. Many of the fossils were found locally, but there were also ones in the collection from places like Canada, Pakistan, etc. Kids who can't read yet will still enjoy, but may not get as much out of it. My kid got to see a T-rex, so he was happy! And I loved that this museum was FREE!!

The Pineapple Fountain, located in the Waterfront Park of Charleston, is a multi-layered fountain shaped like a pineapple and has become an iconic symbol of Southern hospitality. The design pays homage to the historical significance of pineapples in Charleston's architecture and their association with warmth and welcome. Visitors can enjoy the picturesque views of the waterfront while taking photos at this popular spot.
We stopped by the Pineapple Fountain earlier today and it was absolutely worth it. Set right by the harbor in Waterfront Park, it’s not just a beautiful piece of Charleston’s charm, it’s also one of the most peaceful and relaxing spots we’ve visited on this trip. The sound of the water, the breeze off the harbor, and the view of the sailboats drifting by made it feel like time slowed down for a bit. It’s clean, well-kept, and surrounded by walking paths, benches, and shaded areas that make it perfect for families, couples, or anyone needing a quiet moment. We grabbed a few photos with the fountain and they turned out amazing. It’s iconic for a reason. Definitely a must-visit if you're exploring downtown Charleston. Whether you’re sightseeing, resting your feet, or just want to soak up some beauty, the Pineapple Fountain delivers.
Justin T — Google review
The fountain is in a well maintained park right on the water front. It’s a wonderful choice for a nice walk as the path that leads to the fountain is well shaded and you get nice breezes from the water as well.
Ray W — Google review
The Pineapple Fountain is one of the most iconic landmarks in Charleston, South Carolina. Located in Waterfront Park, this beautifully designed water feature takes the shape of a large pineapple — a traditional symbol of hospitality in the South. The fountain is surrounded by lush gardens and provides a peaceful spot for visitors to relax and enjoy scenic views of Charleston Harbor. By day, it’s a popular place for families and tourists to cool off, and by night, the fountain is elegantly lit, adding charm to the historic downtown area. Its unique design and welcoming symbolism make the Pineapple Fountain a must-see attraction for anyone visiting Charleston.
Roberto O — Google review
The fountain looks very nice and is a great place to cool your feet on particularly hot days. The surrounding area is also beautifully landscaped.

If you’re planning a Charleston vacation, you may have already heard about the beautiful Pineapple Fountain. It’s a city landmark built in 1990, and it represents the many uses of pineapples throughout Charleston's history. Located in the heart of the peninsula of Charleston. This famous Charleston icon is located along the harbor in a green public space called Waterfront Park. This is a wonderful place to visit and take in the harbor breeze and views. The Pineapple Fountain is very busy during peak season. There will often be kids swimming in the fountain during the summer months. The construction of the Pineapple Fountain began less than a year after Hurricane Hugo devastated the city. It has since become a symbol of the city’s recovery from the disaster, giving locals hope for a new life. Pineapples are common throughout the city, representing its tradition of hospitality. Historically, pineapples were expensive and extremely difficult to acquire, because they could only be grown in South America; this exoticness is what made it a symbol of wealth and hospitality.
Sanjay G — Google review
Beautiful waterfront walking path with a pier and lots of green space. The pineapple fountain is beautiful day or night and relaxing to sit and stare.
Robert F — Google review
Charleston is absolutely beautiful — full of charm, history, and Southern hospitality. The historic downtown area is like stepping back in time, with cobblestone streets, colorful houses, and gorgeous waterfront views. The food scene is incredible too — from fresh seafood to Lowcountry cuisine, it’s a must-visit for food lovers.
Nikita T — Google review
It was a great spot to see around the water. Nice place to walk/ride bikes.

Charleston Harbor Tours offer a unique way to experience the scale, historical significance, and beauty of Charleston's harbor. Aboard the Carolina Belle Ferry, visitors can enjoy stunning views of downtown Charleston while taking in iconic landmarks such as Fort Sumter National Monument and the USS Yorktown. For a more hands-on experience, the Schooner Pride provides an opportunity to help raise and trim sails on this 84-foot schooner.
Capt. Ron and the Carolina Belle killed it! This tour was amazing! Capt Ron, a Navy man (but we won't hold that against him), did the best job narrating a tour of the harbor. He gave us all the history of the three forts in the harbor, history of the town, and a great pirate story! He made himself available for questions at any point and gave everyone on the boat time to take in the views too. Capt Ron even summoned some dolphins to entertain the kids at the bow on the way back into port. Capt Ron is a treasure to this tour and the Carolina Belle is a true southern Lady. Capt. Ron, thank you for your service
Doug R — Google review
The captain was extremely nice and so were the crew! It was a beautiful experience and we saw dolphins eve before we started. Such a pleasant little cruise that also has a little snack and drink shop you can purchase beverages and such. One of the crew carried my walker down when we disembarked. I was so appreciative. 10\10 recommend!!!
Krista C — Google review
We enjoyed our time on board the Carolina Bell. It was the first harbor cruise for us. Two things, 1. it's not a dinner cruise but does offer adult beverages and regular drinks, popcorn, chips and pretzels. 2. Children were allowed to leave parents and move around the top deck of the boat which, for me personally, was unsettling. Some of the parents were drinking. I didn't notice anyone carding to serve adult drinks so there's that, (and then, people leaving the boat after drinking, were getting into cars to drive wherever next). I immensely enjoyed the history. Capt Tom, was very good and delivered the tour history with a quirkiness that was delightful. You need to experience this, but call ahead to book (Mr Steve will call back) and check on time that suits you. We got same day seats but that may have been grace for us, the boat was full. Arrive early and move to front of boat, if you can, for view of all the sites. Our tour was 5:30-7:00. Loading and docking, unloading takes some time too. Trip itself is about 55 min
Kat G — Google review
What an amazing experience! The boat was absolutely beautiful. The ride was so smooth and enjoyable. The staff was great. Captain Dan was awesome! This was really just an incredible time to relax and enjoy the bay!
Katherine W — Google review
Captain Ron took us back in History on this boat tour! He was knowledgeable and funny! Great "Dad jokes" had me laughing! The views were Amazing, the sunset was even more Amazing! Highly recommend booking this tour on The Carolina Belle 💜
Sherri G — Google review
A fun trip on and old’ish boat. A good narration by the captain, although some of the bar crew could be a little more accommodating - this is a service industry after all. All in all, a nice trip around the estuary. Purchasing a ticket at the boat entrance seemed a little tricky with the ticket seller had issues with the app and I-pad being used.
Mark A — Google review
Open top deck with chairs. Below deck is enclosed and climate controlled. The captain did a great job narrating the ride however it was very difficult to hear him while sitting on the top deck due to other people talking. One other guest was smoking a cigarette which was frustrating. Overheard that one of the employees gave away a free ticket and that person continued to talk the entire ride. Was there the Samantha or Melissa employee. Overall not worth the ticket price for the experience.

100/10 experience!! Everyone was super friendly! The boat was a smooth, long, and scenic ride. Definitely worth every penny!

Sky Zone Trampoline Park is a chain of indoor trampoline parks that offers a variety of activities such as freestyle bouncing, dodgeball, and fitness programs. It's the perfect destination for active entertainment and a unique way to burn energy. The park features numerous trampolines that provide endless opportunities for bouncing, flipping, and soaring through the air in a safe environment. It's popular among kids who attend birthday parties here and is also enjoyed by adults looking for an exciting way to stay active.
I’ve taken my kids here on several occasions for birthday parties of friends, but today was the first time I took them independently on our own. I was surprised to see it less busy than normal (one of the employees mentioned Sundays tend to vary widely on customer traffic). The facilities are pretty impressively clean and well-maintained. In addition to keeping jumpers safe, I noticed the young floor monitors really engage with the kids (demonstrating safe flips, bouncing little ones on the raised platform). It made my daughters’ experience fun and less boring than if they were completely left to their own devices. I got to speak to the manager on duty and he was friendly and professional (and based on a situation that went down, it was obvious he looks after his team - which I appreciate as a mother!). Overall this Skyzone location is one we’ll absolutely recommend and return to, and looks like a fun place to work for high schoolers and college kids!
Kelly D — Google review
Good spot for kids to burn some energy but expect to burn some cash! Plenty of parking and geared more towards school aged kids. My 2 and 4 year old weren't able to do as much as some of the 5+ year old kids. Paid $20+ on 3 small icees. Tickets for a 2 and 4 yr old were $35 and could jump for 1.5 hours which was enough time for them. Seating for parents to watch was limited. The staff was attentive to the areas in the jumping sections. Bathrooms were clean. Lockers avaliable. No coffee for parents and i did suggest they carry Celsius. Otherwise just soda and water. May go back or try a different place. Thanks!
Tiffany P — Google review
Took my little cousins to have a fun evening jumping and rock climbing. Unfortunately, they did not have their air on for some reason and the girls were about to pass out from being so active without AC. Remember this is Charleston and July temperatures can be really high. For $82 dollars (2 tickets and 2 pairs of special socks), I would have expected a better experience.
Kandee P — Google review
Came for a birthday party-the entire staff were on their phones the whole time. Good thing I follow my daughter everywhere-because I’m not sure if she or someone else was hurt that any of the staff would notice. Though I should say the girl who checks us in and saves the party was extremely kind. But would j drop my kid off here-absolutely NOT.
Sarah R — Google review
Was in town for the day so my son could visit a friend. They had a ball. The price is not bad. The inside had a lot of areas including a same arcade. There were rooms used for birthday parties. We didn't pay for the all day pass but as it was not busy there played for 3 hours which was an hour past there time. If you're looking for a place to let your kids burn off some energy, this place will do it. We live about 2 1/2 hours from there and he slept for most of the ride home.
Bradley T — Google review
The park was amazing and my children had fun, but there was a team member I think who was named Violet that came up to us and asked us when we were leaving. I think that is far from professional and not something you should ask a customer.
Lucy W — Google review
Great place! Kids love it. Better to go in “off hours” for younger kids but overall a fun activity. Clean and well kept. The staff are really sweet with my young ones and when it’s not busy always make time to play with them. I think my kids love the staff more than the trampolines!

Ocean Walk at Pitt Street Bridge Park is a charming destination that beautifully blends history with nature. Once the primary route connecting Mount Pleasant to Sullivans Island, this historic bridge was built in 1898 and served as a trolley bridge until its closure in 1927. Today, it has been transformed into a serene park and fishing pier where visitors can stroll beneath swaying palmetto trees while soaking in stunning views of Charleston Harbor.
Gorgeous walking path with 360° views of Charleston and the water. We love seeing everyone fishing, walking dogs, and out in the water you can often see fish, herons, clams, manta rays and other wildlife.
Langston W — Google review
Beautiful and quiet walk across the foot bridge. Asphalt path with large grassy area on one side. Benches are available for sitting, and some people were fishing. There is limited street parking. It is sunny and quiet with a distant view of Charleston and Sullivan’s Island.
Joan C — Google review
Absolutely a beautiful place to take a walk. Very wheelchair friendly.
Randy C — Google review
This was one of our most favorite places to walk, beautiful area especially near sunset. It was very windy when we visited, but the boys enjoyed being splashed by the water due to the wind. Thanks again to geocaching for helping us find this location while visiting the area!
Jarrett F — Google review
Wish we lived here. Romantic place for sunset. We saw many enjoying a picnic 🧺 with 🍷 and 🧀, children feeding the fish, families netting for I guess shrimp or crab 🦀 They have a grassy area and a pier to fish 🎣 off. Would come back over and over again💕
Lilah B — Google review
Our favorite place to go to catch the sunset (or sunrise!) or just to be near the water (without all the sand and fuss!). It’s so calm and tranquil here. Lots of history, stunning views, and a great place to relax and unwind. We have seen marriage proposals, lots of dogs at play, lots of fishers/crabbers/shrimpers, picnickers, bicyclists, kayakers, and walkers. There is truly something for everyone here without feeling crowded. Surprisingly, there’s always parking available too!
Miss P — Google review
One of the best places in Charleston to spend a sunny afternoon at! Breathtaking views and free parking! Could get a bit stinky in summer days but not as bad.lots of benches, and a grass strip parallel to the walk is maintained.
Dhara S — Google review
Pros: Relaxing, peaceful, great scenery with benches, paved and boardwalk...view of Charleston skyline, Fort Sumter, and Bridge Cons: Very limited parallel parking on right hand side with some wash out, so more suitable for certain vehicles to use than others.

Notable street
King St is a revitalized historic street in Charleston, offering a mix of fashion boutiques, antique stores, galleries, and trendy restaurants. While chain stores have made their way onto the street, it remains a haven for pedestrians seeking unique shopping experiences. Visitors can explore Hampden Clothing, Worthwhile or Ibu Movement for distinctive fashion pieces and adornments from Croghan's Jewel Box or Joint Venture Estate Jewelers.
Very cool place, walked daytime and nighttime felt safe even at night. Fun shops and restaurants
Rita D — Google review
King Street in Charleston, SC, is a captivating blend of historic charm and modern vibrancy, offering a unique shopping and dining experience. The street’s architecture and atmosphere provide a picturesque backdrop for a leisurely stroll. From high-end boutiques to local artisan shops, there’s a diverse array of stores to explore. Dining options are equally varied, with establishments like The Ordinary and Husk offering memorable culinary experiences. However, the popularity of King Street comes with its challenges. The area can become exceedingly crowded, especially during weekends and special events, making navigation and parking difficult. The influx of retailers has also led to concerns about rising rents and the displacement of local businesses, potentially impacting the street’s unique character. Be sure to support local on your visit! Despite these issues, King Street remains a must-visit destination for those seeking a mix of history, shopping, and dining in Charleston. Planning your visit during off-peak hours or weekdays can enhance the experience, allowing you to fully appreciate what this iconic street has to offer.
Madelyn A — Google review
Absolutely Stunning Street! This street is simply magical. The atmosphere is vibrant yet relaxed, with beautifully preserved buildings and charming shops lining both sides. Walking up and down the street is a joy—even if you’re not shopping, it’s a delightful experience just to soak in the surroundings. The variety of stores is impressive, and the whole area feels welcoming and full of character. Best of all, the street leads directly to the sea, adding a refreshing coastal vibe to the entire experience. A must-visit!
Yassin A — Google review
