Badaguan, also known as the "Eight Passes," is a serene and picturesque area located in Qingdao, Shandong Province. This historical street district features tree-lined roads, garden-style villas, and foreign-styled buildings that give it a unique charm. The scenic area overlooks Taiping Bay and Huiquan Bay and is characterized by its Gothic castle, which is a popular spot for wedding photography.
Flowers for four seasons are ready for visitors!! It’s a huge park for taking great pictures! I spend 2 hours but can’t even finish 1/4 of the Park, it contains botanical garden, rock garden...etc. Definitely worth a full afternoon!!

Muhammad S — Google review
Badaguan (Chinese: 八大关; pinyin: Bā Dà Guān ; lit. 'the eight great passes') is a historical mansion area located near the coastline in the city of Qingdao, Shandong, China. Badaguan is made up of streets named after great military forts of the ancient times. It was originally a residential area for the Germans built when Qingdao was a German protectorate (1897–1914). Each street is lined with a single species of tree and many street names are colloquially known by the trees that line them.[1] Along the streets are houses built in a variety of European architectural styles. Badaguan is bordered on the west by No. 1 Beach and on the east by No. 3 Beach. Badaguan is a popular destination for wedding photography. One can often see dozens of newlywed-couples being photographed along Badaguan's shoreline and greenspace.
Mao C — Google review
Historical district with a lot of parks and old buildings, THE local spot for photo shots. We have encountered no less than 40 couples taking their wedding gown pictures here.
Li G — Google review
A nice area to walk around and enjoy the greenery and european style architecture. It's also near the beach (no. 2 bathing scenic area).
Jasmine N — Google review
Interesting old homes in European styles, but there is an admission fee for each house and one needs to do a bit of walking.

A beach like many others - no surf as such but refreshing on a hot day.
Hugh M — Google review
It is usually busy. . . but not so crowded that you can't enjoy the water and your time there. The sand is nice and they have it pretty well sectioned off the areas that are safe to swim in. It's definitely not a very private beach, but I think it's worth visiting.
Arthur W — Google review
Very nice and clean beach, a little small but very pretty. Great view of the city. It's located directly next to a park and a big street, although the traffic can't be heard. The beach is easily reachable via bus or subway. It's also a great place to just sit and watch the big ships entering and leaving the harbor. It's also possible to take jetski rides or go parasailing with a boat. One section seems devoted to fitness, so you'll see a bunch of people working out directly on the beach. When we were visiting, no shop was open, so maybe bring snacks and drinks. There seems to be a kfc, but again: closed for no reason. Worth a visit!
Christian J — Google review

Well managed A memorable day to roam in qingdao.

Great place for kids to see animals, the underwater shows are also very good. It can be a little crowded, so better plan the visit. Outside can be very windy, so be careful.
Thomas P — Google review
idk about nowadays, but 8 years ago the place was fine for a weekend. Better to go on weekdays or at least in weekend morning to avoid crowds. There is enormous amount of different kinds of sea animals, starting from jellyfish to huge belugas. The glass tonnel with seals is great, too. Of course, it's not the highest level of such place, but ticket prices are low.
Niki M — Google review
It's very tourist focused. Animals aren't very well cared for, kids teasing animals with staff close by watching and not intervening.
Andrew G — Google review
We shouldn’t encourage any animal performances. The water tank is way too small for all kinds of marine lives.
Katie C — Google review
Nice and clean 3 levels in the main building which is spacious for all the wild sea animals but the facility itself is a bit outdated. Lots shops along the road are closed even it is still around the end of summer. Shows are nice but the sound system isn’t that good, hard to hear sometimes.

A small walk from the subway station or a direct stop from the bus will bring you to Zhanshan Temple. It is locate close to Zhongshan park. This temple complex houses many old chinese and Buddhist gods. It is a medium sized temple complex wich is very clean and well maintained. It is quite busy on the weekends and in the summer especially. It includes a few souvenir shops and a noodle restaurant. The vegetarian noudles are quite good and at only 12 yuan as well definetelly worth if if you do not mind waiting the lines. Includes a small pagoda and a huge bell that anyone can ring. Includes a lot of tanslated informain so english only speakers can learn about the area. Cost of entrance is 10 yuan quite cheap really. Overall great temple to visit in Qingdao

Place is large, lots of different animals on display, and clearly very popular with families. Far too many animals in enclosures that are too small for them. About the only animals that seemed well cared for were the penguins. Overall quite a sad experience.
Bennyu — Google review
A lot of wooden models of animals in lieu of real animals, but the real jellyfish, turtles, and the sharks and stingrays in the underwater portion, they were all nice. It's ok. It's worth a visit if only for its beautiful location in a gorgeous park by the water with a beautiful view of the ocean and beach. Purely as an aquarium it's the worst aquarium I've ever visited and would get two stars, but given it's location, I bumped it up a star. There are better things to do in the city, but if you're into this kind of thing or have kids with you, why not have a visit.

What can I say...but it was better than what I had expected. I was able to find out there are numerous types of Qingdao beer. After the tour of the museum, I was able to differentiate between the beer from factory 1 and factory 2.. a big progress. Qingdao beer seems to show the character of the Qingdao citizens..mild and pleasant.

This isn't the best aquarium that I've visited but if you're in Qingdao. . . take a little while to stop on by and visit it. On very busy days you might feel like a minnow in the middle of huge school of fish. . . so I would try to go on a weekday.

Pretty lame, its just jellyfish and a couple poir captured sea turtles that dont fit in the space they are in. Its sad really. I would never come here or support this place. Pretty upset I even paid.

Best to visit at night to see the lit-up row of sky scrapers by the coast. The waves reflect the colourful illuminations, so it does look amazing. But as usual, the beach was super crowded (it was also July - peak tourism season). There were many photographers running about to ask if you want photos taken, and there isnt really a peaceful vibe to enjoy the night views. Would still recommend to visit, snap a few pictures, watch the light show for a while, then walk towards May Fourth Square where you can continue watching the illuminated buildings at a different angle and with slightly less people around. Visit before 10pm as the lights on the buildings turn off after that, and avoid Mondays (apparently there's no light show).

The Laoshan Scenic Area Tourist Service Center is the perfect starting point for exploring the natural beauty and cultural landmarks of Qingdao. Located in the eastern part of the city, this center provides access to four different routes for visiting Laoshan Scenic Area, including land roads and a waterway.
This is where you catch line 4 subway to the last stop. And walk out with everyone else, you'll see the big building to buy your tickets and catch the bus. Best seats on the bus is right side to see the ocean. First stop, you'll get off to see the waterfall which is about 30-45 minutes up the stairs. You'll see a dam too and soon after, waterfalls on the left side, about 150m away. You can continue to climb up on the stairs to the temples and grottos or walk back to the bus stop. Your tickets include a couple more stops. Second stop is Taiqing Square to see the (additional cost) lao tzu statue, the Ancient Taiqing temple and a few old trees as old as over 2100 years old. There's a KFC and a couple more places to eat. Then another bus to bring you to the last stop to catch the (addictional cost) ropeway up. Then you can continue to walk up or down from there. All paths seem to be a roundabout and connected. Many stalls along the path selling souvenirs and drinks and even food.

(Translated by Google) On a sunny day, the sand sparkles gold. The sandy beach is very wide. Everything around it has been newly built and changed, but the stone with Jinsatan written on it was there even 20 years ago.
