The Black Dragon lake is a beautiful area for a romantic stroll. The views from here of the Jade Dragon Snow mountain are fantastic. A nice place for a calm stroll around the lake and spend some quiet time. There is a temple like structure in the middle of the lake and a little bridge which all together makes it a cool scenic place to sit and look at.

Most beautiful scene in this little town of lijiang not far from center city, be in here in during the sunrise u will get a better view of yulong mountain with no clouds and water is clear like glass

This was my second time visiting to Lijiang Old Town (Dayan Ancient Town) and the first was back in 2001 with my family ,where the locals were still living in those houses here. 20years later, this place had became more vibrant, commercial and crowded. But I do understand that the main income source for some of them are from tourism. However, there are still some areas in the old town which was not crowded and worth exploring. I would suggest to take your time to walk away from the few main streets (around Mufu (木府)and Sanyanjing (三眼井) if you would like to explore the other sides of the old town, as it can get very crowded starting in late evening. The tour buses are usually dropping tourists at the north side of the town, where the Large Water Wheel located. You can try out their local delights such as flower biscuits in one of the shop on Sifang street, called MuLaoYe (木老爷鲜花饼). If you have extra time, can go up to Shizi Mountain to have night view. There are plenty of Inns available for stay in the town, but do mind the cobblestone streets might not be friendly to your luggage, do check with your Inn if they provide concierge service.

Be prepared for crowds, neon lights, squares with multiple musics at the same time....for shure nothing that could be referred as UNESCO protected. Old town is nice in the morning...what happens in the night is a shame. For shure is not a feeling of old town.

Compared to 白沙古镇, this town feels noticeably more deserted, with fewer visitors around. Most tourists, including my family and me, are often worn out after a day of exploring the more popular attractions. Seeking a break, we decided to find a cozy café to relax for a while.

Typical ancient town with rows of shops and commercialised atmosphere. Local attractions are also not interesting. While I was there , they had a nightly dance around a bonfire which is a highlight. But this bonfire night dance is also present at other ancient towns :)

Best cottagecore neighborhood with a beautiful canal, lots of cute doggos, and very scenic cafes. Cafe huya is a must go, with a cute cat and wonderful music and great coffee! Also good vegetarian options here!! Sooo aesthetic

This old town was beautiful, but pretty okay as it looked the same as the other touristic old towns within the Dali/Lijiang region. Quite enjoyable but not worth making an extra trip for.

Shuhe Ancient Town was not as impressive as expected. I found it quite commercialized, with many shops and little that felt truly unique or cultural. While it may be pleasant for a short walk, there wasn’t much that stood out for me. Overall, I would rate it 3 stars.

This ancient town is far more superior than 白沙古镇, as the walkways are wider (no cars allowed), have lesser crowd and has its own stature. It was raining when we got there.....

The Shuhe Ancient Town is the 2nd largest ancient town in Lijiang county. The houses and buildings design are unique. It is worth to visit this ancient town.

My 3rd ancient town in Lijiang. Beware not to go to the new extension as we did and wasted abit of time but found a gem which is a part with a good view of the Yulong Snow Mountain. The actual old town is bustling with people enjoying all the nice food

The Heilongtan part is located about 5km from ancient city of Lijiang. It is great park with very good scenery and ambient environment. Good to visit whenever comes to Lijiang.

The Dongva Culture and Research Institute and Museum was honestly the best part about the place. The museum was VERY interactive with touch screens to try caligraphy and learn about Dongba pictograph language system, audio where you can hear Naxi shamans chanting, videos that show the Naxi people's cultural habits through different life stages, info about their ethnic attire etc.

Great layout with 6 classy and welll maintained bedrooms each own clean toilets. Kitchen with everything you need including consumables. A short down hill walk to old town but the uphill return trip can be a bit taxing. Very friendly and helpful owner(s).
