Cap Sciences is a science museum located in old warehouses on the docks of Bordeaux. Since 1995, it has been a hub for scientific and industrial culture, hosting meetings, conferences, exhibitions for all ages, and various activities for children as young as three years old. The museum aims to make scientific culture accessible to everyone by popularizing it. Visitors can expect exceptional permanent and temporary exhibitions, interactive displays, space exhibits, and a 'living lab.'
I visited a dinosaur exhibition in July. Though the exhibit area wasn’t large, it covered all the essential knowledge. There were many interactive facilities and activities for children, such as an area to freely assemble skeletons, an activity to let children experience the excavation process, and a Q&A session. These features are great for sparking children’s curiosity and inspiring their passion for science. The exhibition also had English and French descriptions, making it friendly for international visitors. Overall, I was very satisfied with the exhibition!
ZO N — Google review
I went to dinosaur exposition in November. To be honest I was expecting something different, I mean it was good but its for children's in my opinion. The ticket was around 7€ for students (10€ for adults), so maybe I could go again to see the permanent exposition.
Luis Q — Google review
I visited the Lascaux cave exhibition today with my husband and three children ages 14, 11 and 7. We all really enjoyed it and I would recommend it as something to do for an hour or so if visiting Bordeaux this summer. We were given a brief introduction by a member of staff which was very useful at introducing the story of the cave's discovery to our children. The exhibition is clearly laid out, informative and very engaging. The audio visual recreation of the cave was excellent at bringing the experience of the prehistoric people to life for my younger children. We didn't do the virtual reality experience so I can't comment on that.
Lucy H — Google review
[English; 2*adult, 1*3y] The animatronic dinosaurs and individual activities are good, The guided activities have very limited value if your children don't speak French, and there is nothing much for adults. I would recommend limiting the number of adults in your party as much as possible, €7.5 well-spent for the child, €10 not so much for each of the adults.
Fred — Google review
We went to the exhibition of the little monsters (bugs). And it was OK, small but good for little kids.
Anacatalina — Google review
Fun dinosaur exhibition - a bit busy with some waiting time, but worth a visit, especially with Bordeaux CityPass.

Cité du Vin is a cutting-edge wine museum housed in a striking curved aluminum and glass structure in Bordeaux. It offers interactive displays, guided tours, and tastings to educate visitors about the history and production of wine globally. The museum's modern design reflects the swirling motion of both the adjacent Garonne River and wine in a glass. With themed routes and multimedia exhibits, it explores wine's impact on history, geography, culture, and civilization.
Extremely well done - highly informative and interactive, incorporating all of the senses! You can learn as little or as much as you'd like, but one can easily spend a few hours here. The tasting (with 13 different wines from which to choose) on the top floor with beautiful views was icing on the cake on a beautiful summer's day. There is non-alcoholic options as well! Very well air-conditioned, so going in the heat of the afternoon during the heat dome was a huge relief as well! This is a must-visit while in Bordeaux, even if you don't like wine.
E H — Google review
Hard to fault this place. I visited around 6 years ago and it’s only got better. A comprehensive tale of world wine history. A good tasting on the 8th floor featuring international wines. I tried a Swiss wine that was new to me. There are lockers to hold bags as you wander. Excellent easy to use audio guide. A good Bodega. Prices are not crazy they cater for all tastes.
Craig T — Google review
La Cité du Vin is an absolute must-visit in Bordeaux — more than a museum, it’s a full sensory journey into the world of wine. The interactive exhibits are beautifully designed, combining history, culture, and tasting experiences in a modern, engaging way. You can easily spend hours exploring and still discover something new. The architecture itself is stunning, with its flowing, glassy curves reflecting the Garonne. Don’t miss the panoramic tasting room at the top — the view is spectacular. A brilliant tribute to wine culture, innovation, and pleasure.
Natalia B — Google review
LOVED this amazing museum!! It had the most immersive experience including aroma generator technology that I did not know existed. You can smell the aromas of a myriad of scents that are produced from wines, cognac, liquors, and champagne. And the production, service, and industry is covered at great detail. Fun for everyone of all ages. And the ticket provides for two samples on the 8th floor with spectacular views! The restaurant food is excellent, with both vegetarian and meat, seafood offerings. The desserts are amazing! Love the model and the story behind this innovative museum created from a competition around 2010.
Shafi K — Google review
Cité du Vin wine museum offers a fascinating journey through the history and culture of winemaking. The exhibits are well-curated, blending tradition with interactive displays. It’s the perfect place for wine enthusiast. After the exhibits, you can go to the 8th floor to enjoy a panoramic view of the Garonne river in Bordeaux while tasting your favourite wine.
Yash V — Google review
Highly recommended to visit! They share wine knowledge in a fun and interactive way. You can easily spend 2–3 hours there without even noticing the time. A super interesting place if you love wine! We went on a Monday, and it was still fairly busy. Probably best to avoid weekends!
HYE S — Google review
For wine lovers, this museum experience is A+++, even for those who know most about wine. What impressed me the most about this museum outside of its design was the amount of information available if you were interested. The history of wine making around the world, highlighting unique wine making regions of the world, then ending off with a few glasses of unique wines all made for a great experience.
Kyle L — Google review
I actually preferred the Musée du Vin et du Négoce de Bordeaux. It was more historic and personable The exhits here are lots of quite lengthy videos. Would take hours to see everything and I am not sure it would keep someone's attention

Located in Bordeaux, the Miroir d'eau is a large shallow reflecting pool built in 2006 near Place de la Bourse. Covering an area of 3450 square meters, it is one of the world's largest reflecting pools and offers stunning views of the surrounding architecture. The water's surface acts as a mirror, creating beautiful visual effects and making it a popular spot for photography.
A brilliant idea in combining a modern structure with the old buildings on the other side of the square. When there is no wind, the buildings are reflected in the water. It is very beautiful, as are the blooming gardens along the embankment. A wonderful space for walking!
Olga I — Google review
Fascinating creation right next to the river. You can see a clear reflection of people and buildings, if it is not too windy. They have two different exhibitions, a mist spray followed by about 2cm deep of water coming up from the bottom.
Michael R — Google review
The Miroir d'eau is just a playground with sprinkles. It is right next to the promenade at the river and across the street from the Place de la Bourse, not in front it, as appearing in the touristic brochures. The thin layer of water creates a reflective surface for the sky or Place de la Bourse buildings across the street. Popular water playground with children and to sit around to cool down in the warmer months or as a gorgeous, instagramable setting for pictures during the day or at night.
Gergana — Google review
An interesting location and use of water in a public space. Unfortunately the day we were in Bordeaux it was windy. The evening was calmer and allowed for some good reflections.
Stuart T — Google review
The Water Mirror in Bordeaux is deceptively simple yet magical. Its charm lies in the cyclical transformation it undergoes, the water functions as a perfect mirror, then a gentle fog is released across the surface creating a dream-like ambiance.
Yash V — Google review
Very beautifil and must visit place in Bordeaux. You can enjoy alone, with family. Beautiful reflection of the building I captured in the water mirror. Biggest water mirtor in the world.

Located in a former German submarine base from World War II, Bassins des Lumières is now the world's largest digital art gallery. It features massive artworks projected on walls and water, creating an immersive experience akin to being inside a giant kaleidoscope. The current exhibition showcases the works of Gaudi and Dali set to a soundtrack featuring music from Pink Floyd and The Doors. This unique attraction offers visitors an unforgettable visual and auditory experience.
One of the coolest art exhibits ever. Similar to the one in Las Vegas, but what makes this one special, is that it's within a WWII submarine bunker. Absolutely fantastic! Love how they're revitalizing the surrounding area too. A must see with your Citypass
John A — Google review
Visited the Pharaoh exhibition. Stunning light show immersed with a great soundtrack. Small section on the history of the submarine base. A little more would make it more interesting.
Mark E — Google review
Not for us. The day we went, the exhibition we went to see wasn't on as it was a Sunday they had a special presentation. The little princess, we should have known just by the name, it was a childrens fantasy exhibition. We asked before we paid $54 if it was suitable for older people and the teenager said it would. The redeeming feature was it was housed in a WWII submarine bunker and the story was interesting. 5 minutes.
Deb F — Google review
Given the location and historical uniqueness, this is the perfect venue and acoustics for the light and sound show. Plan to stay 2 hours or more to thoroughly enjoy it
Kathy T — Google review
I personally do not like this place as it is very crowded and very dark. Not easy to enjoy the the show. Too dark to walk around. Buy the City Tour one day pass to see this. If no like, is ok.
Simon O — Google review
Fantastic facility and the light shows are good, the Egyptian one in the main area is excellent, but would be better without the corney Led zeppelin tune. Not a fan of the orientalist one, very colonial. The two small shows in the cube were very good. Would like more detail on the building which is very interesting and maybe if one of the docks was left as it was to explore with no light shows. Still worth a visit.
Colin F — Google review
Not to be missed when in Bordeaux. We chose the afternoon show between 17:00-1900 and the Little Prince theme. We arrived by bus from the city centre. The bus stop is 10 minutes away on foot. The site is impressive and the way the show is directed it elevates the whole experience for everyone. We went with our two children and they loved it. Make sure you visit all the parts of the site while there. The show goes for one hour approximately and it then repeats for one more time, but you can stay in and explore the bassins. The visit was included in the Bordeaux City Pass which I definitely recommend.
Iason S — Google review
The theatre was good. We saw the Egyptian themed light show. The ticket price was expensive and visit duration is around 1hr. We can visit it once just for the experience. I was expecting my 2 year old to enjoy it but he was too distracted with the lights

Visitors can explore the stalls to find an array of options such as freshly sliced cheese and family-produced wines.
One of the best sea food options, fresh, accessible prices. It’s a must visit in Bordeux. Open only during the morning to 2 pm, be sure to add it to your list for a good gambas, crab or oysters 😏😋😋😋

Fantastic local market in Bordeaux. Wonderful fresh produce and interesting snacks to buy. Unfortunately, it was a public holiday, so not everything was open, but still enjoyed it. We bought strawberries, fish, cheeses, and other fruit and vegetables
Melinda C — Google review
A nice market to visit. We enjoy having the truffle cheese and Bleu d'Auvergne from the cheese store there too (it’s the stall right at the entrance, with a green signboard). Shop owners were kind and patient in explaining things to us.
Janet L — Google review
Good place for early risers to check out a local market. Good selection of raw seafood, meats and even good wine and pastry. Easy walking from our Airbnb
Fook-Main H — Google review
It’s always nice to see what they have in the local market, isn’t it ? !
Kamala N — Google review
A little disappointing. Not full of stalls by any measure. Produce that was there was good but felt a bit run down.
Malcolm L — Google review
Nice market, lots of fresh and prepared foods. Not too busy on a weekday.
Kari Q — Google review
Impressive market with lots to offer. It is under a roof and seems to have a parking deck on top of it? The stands are packed in and quite large. The smells and sights of the fresh foods overwhelm the senses. Lots of seafood, fresh veggies, bread, cheeses, meats, and even some stands selling household goods, etc. on the outskirts. We went on a Friday and it was fairly crowded, but I imagine it to be bustling on the weekend. There are a few bars/restaurants in each quadrant as well.

Natural history museum
The Muséum de Bordeaux - sciences et nature, located in a grand building established soon after the French revolution, offers a modern and interactive museum experience. It features multimedia screens, immersive soundscapes, and touch-and-feel objects that bring stuffed animals to life. The museum also includes a section called Le Musee des tout-petits for children aged 6 and under.
Such a tasteful, little museum. We had a great time here and everything was so well designed. There coukd have been more information about the animals on the boards, but it was very insightful either way. Also, the guides for the children's tours were very friendly and creative. A ticket for students was only €2 and totally worth it.
Romy — Google review
Nice museum, lots to see and learn. Interesting for kids and adults that are interrested in animals and biology.
Joan L — Google review
A very good museum with good exhibits....one or two specimens looked not quite so skilfully stuffed but great overall. The temporary exhibition on migration was very interesting.
Dave J — Google review
A very 'WoW' museum to visit. The exterior of the museum makes you feel like it's just a normal museum like the rest. But this museum, solidly fantastic. It's level 1 was already stunning when you were greeted by camels and elephants. It's already a wow when you enter the museum. Level 2 is just as fantastic when you were greeted by life liked Deer and wolf. The exhibits were very interesting and most of the stuff was unknown to me personally. It increases my knowledge a lot. Level 3 is the best. The wow factor was maximized when you see it with your own eyes. It was spectacular! The huge exhibits greets you with life and friendliness when you enter. Take tour time to look through all individual exhibits. A great place to bring your kids and expose them to all the individual species.
Garry N — Google review
Relatively small but rich collections. The detailed information is mainly displayed in the tablets with an easy to use UI but the amount is not enough comparing to the number of visitors. Quite surprised by the two head baby goat which really existed… a good place to hang out with young kids. The closest parking is the Champs next to the public park - quite difficult to find and the entrance is small. Be careful with Waze navigation.
Chris G — Google review
This is a very special newly renovated natural history museum, which is very modern and has an extensive collection of animal, bird and fish species. The guides are super helpful and will provide a truly educational experience to you. The location is a mansion from the 1700’s that has been exquisitely restored. The original floors and many architectural structures are well preserved. The vast collection is grouped in interesting ways on different levels. On one of the floors it’s animals are displayed by continent, on another it’s grouped by how the creatures eat. The bird collections are amazing along with explanation of evolution. The polar bear, whale, camel and giraffe are a treat. One of the finest natural history museums we have toured.
Theresa H — Google review
A highlight of our trip to Bordeaux. Fresh, contemporary museum, very manageable size, good value for money. Our 18 m.o. loved it.

Porte Cailhau, a castle-like gate built in 1495, served as the main entry point to Bordeaux. It functioned as a defensive fortification during conflicts and also welcomed dignitaries and hosted ceremonies due to its Gothic and Renaissance architectural styles. The sculptures on the gate pay homage to King Charles VIII. Originally situated by the river bank, it now stands as a reminder of the city's medieval fortifications.
Worth a walk to see. I didn't go inside, but it's a nice looking building from both sides to get some nice photos.
Matt- F — Google review
We really enjoyed seeing this large city gate built in 1494. It was part of the defensive wall around Bordeaux during the Middle Ages. It seems the 35 metre tall city gate remains much the same as it did when originally constructed. It is an attractive historic monument worth viewing from both sides while sightseeing around the area.
Brad — Google review
Impressive and beautiful views. Built back in late 1490 to celebrate King Charles VIIIs victory.

This was our best port so far. Right in the heart of the city. Amazing architecture/history, great shopping, lots of great attractions in easy walking distance. Lots of open spaces and so many casual places to get food and a drink. As the grape/ growing region of the Garonne Valley was so close to the port/ 50 minutes away by bus, we ventured to the village of Saint Emillion, it was beautiful. Our whole experience was excellent.

Pey Berland Tower is a 15th-century Gothic bell tower located in the historic neighborhood of Pey-Berland, near the Cathedrale Saint-Andre. Visitors can climb 233 spiral stairs to reach the top and enjoy panoramic views of Bordeaux. The area surrounding the tower is rich in history and culture, with nearby museums like Musee d'Aquitaine and Musee des Beaux-Arts, as well as charming cafes, boutiques, and art galleries.
Reaching the top of Tour is no easy feat, but the panoramic views of the city are breathtaking. The narrow stairs and passages add to the challenge, but it's well worth the effort. A must-visit for anyone looking to experience in center of Bordeaux.

Nice climb, gets you in shape ! (And a possible break about halfway in) The view at the top is more than worth it though ! Absolutely stunning sights of bordeaux, and great signs and historical explanations. Friendly staff. I'd recommend to anyone, from anywhere, and especially people from Bordeaux such as me who have never actually gone up !

We had a great weather. It costs few euro, lots of stairs, but worth the climb. Great view over the city.

Astonishing view of the city! The 233 stairs are totally worth it, you get to see the main monuments of Bordeaux. There are two viewpoints and in the first one you can see the bell. We went on a cloudy day but it's still amazing. I recommend to buy they tickets in advance
Josue M — Google review
Great view, not too many people. Little to no information on the top, there is a handout in different languages available at the bottom of the stairs. Staff was friendly, ticket was booked online (for a certain time frame). We came because it was included in the bordeaux pass and would recommend it if you want to have a view over the city

Nice tower building next to the cathedral. Didn't go inside and tonthe top. Good photos opportunity 📷

The Pey Berland Tower in Bordeaux offers a breathtaking panoramic view of the cityscape that is truly worth the climb. The ascent provides a unique perspective on Bordeaux's architectural beauty and surrounding landscapes. However, it's worth noting that the stairway leading to the top is quite narrow, which may pose a challenge for those less comfortable with confined spaces. Despite the narrow stairs, the unparalleled views from the tower make the experience memorable and offer a fascinating glimpse into the historical and contemporary charm of Bordeaux.

It is a nice place in the heart of Bordeaux. I was visiting my friends in this city and we went to walk the baby. There were plenty of people, walking with kids or pets ; moreover, the parents played different active games with their kids. Nice place to have some rest outdoors.

Points of Interest & Landmarks
Nestled in the heart of Bordeaux, Grosse Cloche, or "Big Bell," is a captivating historical landmark that dates back to the 15th century. This impressive bell and clock tower was originally part of the city's medieval fortifications and served as an alarm system for fires. Weighing an astonishing 7.75 tons, the bell rings on special occasions like Remembrance Day and Fete Nationale, echoing stories from centuries past.
This is a neat bell tower to see, especially on the first Sunday of each month. That’s when they actually ring it at noon. There are neat book stores & eateries down the street from the bell. We sat outside and had breakfast with a perfect view of it. Also, about a block down Victor Hugo Rue there is a Falling Car poking out of a parking garage that’s fun to find and see!
Kat F — Google review
A beautiful bell tower and gate from the old city wall of Bordeaux. The bell is seldom used now but the tower and the gate remain. A great place to visit.

Behold the majestic Grosse Cloche, a historic gem of Bordeaux, France! Originally part of the city’s medieval fortifications in the 13th century, this stunning tower once guarded the gates with pride, its sturdy stone walls standing as a symbol of strength and resilience. Over the centuries, it evolved into a beloved landmark, its grand clock and bell ringing out to mark time and celebrate the spirit of the community. Today, the Grosse Cloche thrives as a vibrant centerpiece of Bordeaux’s old town, drawing visitors from around the world with its timeless charm. Surrounded by bustling streets and lively crowds, it stands tall under the bright July sky, inspiring all who pass by to embrace history, unity, and the endless possibilities of the present!
Dave — Google review
Such a lovely surprise in the middle of Bordeaux! The Grosse Cloche is a beautiful old bell tower that looks like it came straight out of a fairytale. You can’t go inside most of the time, but even just seeing it from the street is magical. It’s not a big attraction — more of a “wow, look at that!” moment during a walk through the old town. Totally worth stopping for a photo and soaking up the history. There are cute little cafés around too, so it’s a great place for a coffee break.

Lots of 5-3000 BC artifacts of Aquitaine. Expect more of Bordeaux history with the rebuilding of the city in the mid 18th century. Lots of stuff on the slave trade and France’s part in it. Found this interesting esp given the juxtaposition of what’s happening with the current USA administration and revisionist history.

Wonderful museum. Objects are the stars and are displayed in a way that doesn't overwhelm even though the galleries are full. There's plenty of label information at different levels and a variety of other intrepretation methods from maps, models, images and films. Each gallery has a hands on table for sensory experiences and information. There's lots to see and even a brief wander through the galleries will take 1-2 hours. There are excellent galleries dealing with the slave trade, new settlers and modern Bordeaux and environmental sustainability The special exhibition on post war France 1945-54 was a terrific insight into the social, cultural and economic development of the country. There's a bag search at the entrance hall and lockers for them (token from reception). The shop is modest, situated at the entrance/exit. There's no cafe/restaurant, just a vending machine in a hallway, with a few tables and chairs. The toilet is unisex with about 6 cubicles.

Les Halles Bacalan, also known as Halles de Bacalan, is a popular food market in Bordeaux that opened in 2017. It has quickly become a favorite spot for food enthusiasts, offering a wide array of gourmet foods and drinks. The market features over twenty farmers, artisanal traders, and regional chefs who come together to create a unique food court experience.
One of my favourites places to eat in Bordeaux. There is a wide range of food, with savoury and sweet. They also offer wine, smoothies and cafe. There's sitting indoors and outdoors. And it's all super tasty and very cheap. Would have popped again if I had time yo try other option .

Awesome market with huge choice of fantastic food. Bustling and great way to spend an afternoon sipping wine and trying all of the choices. From steak and chips to oysters, tapas, pastas, salads and more!

We came here for lunch and were pleasantly surprised -- we went to the Paul Bocuse one in Lyon and thought it was a tourist trap. This one may still cater to tourists, but the food was good, the ambience was much better, and you can actually just get a few items in each place and try a little bit of everything in the shared seating areas. As for the food, we ordered steak from Bar A Viande, wine from Vinimarche, as well as chocolate mousse and vanilla flan from Tchu and everything was excellent. Would definitely recommend this food hall, and already planning on coming back tomorrow. Edit: We did come back 2 days after to L'etal Iberique, and were extremely disappointed. We each ordered 5 of the sliced bread with toppings on top (so 10 different ones), and they ranged from average to bad.. would not recommend this place, but still loved all the other establishments here.

Basilique Saint-Seurin, a Roman Catholic basilica dating back to the 11th century, is a significant site in Bordeaux's history. Recognized as part of the UNESCO World Heritage site in the Routes of Santiago de Compostela category, it is considered the birthplace of Christianity in Bordeaux.
Beautiful basilica. One of the oldest churches in Bordeaux. It was started in the 100's. The 100's!! Crazy old place. Be sure to check out the crypt. Not as big and fancy as some of the other places, but still very very cool.

Basilique Saint-Michel, located in Bordeaux's Saint Michel district, is a stunning Gothic basilica dating back to the 14th century. This architectural marvel features an impressive 114-meter tower that offers panoramic views of Bordeaux. The basilica boasts intricate details such as stained-glass windows and ornate carvings, making it a captivating site for visitors.
Amazing stained glass much of which is from around the 50s, so looks almost like if Picasso designed them. A beautiful church although the bell tower was under reconstruction when we visited, but the windows alone were worth the visit. Also the red and white tiles floor was very interesting. Certainly a place to visit while walking around Bordeaux, and very close to the Marche des Capucins.
Jason P — Google review
A beautiful church to visit, although the separate bell tower was under reconstruction when we were there. There’s some amazing stained glass, much of it appears new after the church was bombed in the war.. Certainly a place to visit while walking around Bordeaux and make sure you put a couple of Euros in the box for the organ repairs
Julian D — Google review
Wonderful work in progress to restore/recreate this Basilica still bearing the marks of WW2 (and more than a bit of neglect I suspect). Its inherent character combined with the interpretive narrative literally built into its recreation this has every chance of becoming one of the magnificent churches of Europe. It’s lovely and evocative above its historic and spiritual echos one can imagine a remarkable rebirth that appears in progress.
Nom G — Google review
I recently visited St. Michel Basilica during a few days spent in Bordeaux. it was constructed between the 14th-16th-centuries and is Flamboyant Gothic in architectural style and began being recognised as a minor basilica in 1903. As you enter you will find multiple language information cards pointing out some general information about the church history, bell tower and a few highlights inside to look for during your visit. The interior is atypical of French Gothic churches with a narrow nave with hight ceiling, vaulted ribs and side aisles lined with smaller chapels. It is less decorative compared to churches like St. Andrea at Place Pey-Berland but still makes for a nice visit for those who like seeing old churches. I enjoyed some of the fine altarpieces and the stained-glass windows in particular. There is a chapel presently being used to host panels and general information about La Fleche which is nice since the bell tower is presently unavailable for visitation.
Brad — Google review
On 21.09.25, I had the chance to visit Basilique Saint-Michel on a day when monuments were open free to the public — a rare treat. Entering the towering Gothic church, I was struck by the light filtering through beautiful vitrages. I had a chance to see one of the medieval alabaster relief panels from the famous 15th-century altarpiece: part of the “Joys of the Virgin” set, recently restored and returned to its place. It felt powerful to be standing before something so fragile, historic and beautiful.
Natalia B — Google review
Very impressive tower next to the basilica, but separate from it. Currently under renovation. An important site for those doing a pilgrimage along the Camino/Chemin from Paris to Santiago in Spain. This pilgrimage walking route is one of the four principal ones in France, which all converge at the small French village of St Jean Pied-de-Port, at the foot of the Pyrenees.

This is the most incredible building. I have never seen something so beautiful and majestic, created by people. You can feel the energy, and it filled my heart with love. It brought tears to my eyes. Cinéma Utopia is a charming and nostalgic small cinema that offers a unique experience. Additionally, there is a bar/restaurant where guests can enjoy refreshments before or after the movie, and it has both indoor and street terraces.

Had a couple decent sessions here but PLEASE maintain the steam room properly! It smells strongly of mould and there IS a lot of mould in there, which is really bad for health especially for people who use it often... It should be cleaned and maintained properly. A few suggestions: add the color codes for route difficulty in 1 or 2 spots WITHIN the gym so that they're easily visible, and I have also heard of climbers complaining about some of the shirtless guys, so maybe ask for full attire only in the climbing area?

The Opéra National de Bordeaux - Grand-Théâtre is a stunning neoclassical building with a facade dating back to 1780. It serves as a venue for operas, dance performances, and music concerts. The theater is an essential part of Bordeaux's cultural scene and boasts an impressive permanent staff including musicians, dancers, and singers. With its grand architecture and diverse range of performances throughout the year, it remains one of the most popular attractions in the city.
This is a wonderful old Theatre built in the late 1700s. The outside architecture is like the Parthenon. The interior of the theater is beautifully appointed and richly decorated. It has fought years within the auditorium. It is shaped like a horseshoe in front of the stage, and we were fortunate enough to buy tickets to see the ballet. A wonderful experience with a brilliant troop of dancers. There are guided tours available to book and I highly recommend visiting this beautiful building.

The Grand Théâtre de Bordeaux is a stunning building with impressive architecture and rich history. The details inside are truly breathtaking, and it’s definitely worth a visit for anyone who appreciates classical design. However, we were disappointed that access was very limited—we could only see a small part of the theater instead of exploring more of the beautiful spaces. Still, it’s a must-see landmark in Bordeaux, and if you can catch a performance, it’s probably even better!

I took a visit, not an opera performance. The architecture of the building is very interesting and beautiful but the experience was not that pleasant. Museums
The Bordeaux Museum of Fine Arts, also known as Musee des Beaux-Arts de Bordeaux, is an elegant art museum housing a vast collection of classical art spanning from the Renaissance to the 19th century. Situated near religious monuments and the Quartier Saint Michel district, this museum was founded in 1801 and boasts a permanent collection featuring masterpieces of European painting from the 15th to the 20th century.
For museum and art lovers, the visit to the MusBA is definitely worth it. We visited the museum with our children and we ended up spending more than two hours, without even going to the temporary exhibition at the gallery across the street. The visit is quite interesting with lots of art pieces categorised in different time periods. The most interesting part for us was the modern part with paintings by Picasso, Matisse and Delacroix. The museum is also included in the Bordeaux City Pass.

Frankly speaking, I’ve visited art museums in every city I’ve traveled to. This one is not the worst, but it’s definitely below average. First, although the museum doesn’t have many masterpieces, they do have some unique paintings that you won’t find in other art museums. Unfortunately, these are not displayed well for visitors to appreciate. Second, they hang many paintings one above another, and some are placed too close to the lights, making it hard to see them properly from any angle. Third, even though they don’t have many masterpieces, they still keep some valuable paintings, like Odilon Redon’s Apollo’s Chariot, in storage. It makes me wonder if they even care whether people visit the museum or not.
· M — Google review
The Museum is a cultural gem, featuring a diverse collection of paintings and sculptures. While it's smaller than expected, the artworks are impressive and well curated. More exhibit info would be nice, but it's still worth a visit, especially for fans of European art.
Filipe S — Google review
Great museum, a lot of beautiful paintings and sculptures for just 8 EUR. You can attend three halls.
Dmitry M — Google review
The museum had some very nice works but it was disappointing that most descriptions were only in French. There was also terrible lighting throughout the museum that created a glare on the paintings and made it especially difficult to see some of the older paintings from any angle. I wish the museum was more thoughtful about including English descriptions and appropriate lighting. But the art was nice enough that it was still worth the visit. The garden was very beautiful as well.

Hangar Darwin Skatepark is a unique skate park located in an industrial space with graffiti-covered walls and funky art, recommended by visitors for its hip vibe and great place for brunch. The park features recycled ramps and a wonderful atmosphere, making it an amazing place to visit in Bordeaux. In addition to the skate park, there are restaurants, shops, cafeterias, and kids' playgrounds available.
You have to see this location if you are visiting Bordeaux. In here you will find art at another level. It's a nice location to spend 2 maybe 3 hours admiring the art and the skaters. Food is a little expensive, but you can bring your own and eat it on a beautiful table outside in the sun. It was really nice, I definitely liked it!

Paid for a flipper that doesn't work and staff won't give me my money back. They don't care that people get scammed. Won't be coming here again. I'd advise you to avoid this place too.

This place is incredible. I don't even skate but I was in awe watching these guys and girls at this behemoth of a skate park. All of the ramps etc were visibly recycled. Wonderful atmosphere. Darwin in general is an amazing place to visit, it fills you with spirit that there are those championing an eco-friendly cause. Check out the restaurant and the shop/canteen selling all sorts of drinks and snacks. Brilliant place to cycle to and enjoy the surroundings and nature.

La Guinguette Chez Alriq is a vibrant and open venue that offers a mix of tapas, pizza, beer, cocktails, and wine while hosting live music sets. Established in 1990 to revive the spirit of the 19th-century riverside cabarets, it has become an integral part of Bordeaux's Right Bank redevelopment.
The food and atmosphere of this place is so amazing, will be back! The lamb chops was incredible!

Great place to see a live band, quirky venue by the river on the wrong side - bit of a track to get there especially during the week when the ferry doesn’t run.
David H — Google review
Found this on Google maps as I was wandering nearby. It was such a lively place. There was an entrance fee of €8 for the live band. After a while of translating their menu items, I ordered the lamb chops (€16). It was well done but not tough at all. It had this crispy char on the outside. Could use with a little more acidity in the sauce. The baby potatoes were delicious and seasoned well! Loved it, I would recommend it for hanging out with friends. Friendly staff and incredible ambiance.

Came to this cute cafe and as a foreigner, I was so confused as I didn’t know what to eat here and how experimental my choice could be… So I had a coffee here(Cappuccino) and a salad, can’t recall the name of that exactly. Coffee was fine and the salad was fine too. Service was quite quick. Despite the rush, they did serve the food quickly. I’ll surely recommend to do visit this cute cafe.

For us, being visitors from Amsterdam, this place feels like home away from home but with a nice French touch. Great way to escape the crowd in the city and sit with likeminded music loving people. Very kind staff they helped me get back my lost AirPod. Love the area called Darwin around there too with skate ramp, coffee brewery and the best bakery in town.

Jardin Botanique de Bordeaux, situated in the Bastide neighborhood, is a sprawling botanical garden spanning over 10 hectares. Established in the early 19th century, it features a diverse collection of plants including rare and exotic species housed in its large greenhouse. The garden offers various themed areas such as the Rose Garden, French Garden with geometrically designed flowerbeds, and the Rock Garden.
This is a pretty Botanical Garden with an array of plants. My favourite was the water plants. I have seen better ones but being free I was impressed with the variety. It's worth the visit if in the Bastide!

The botanical garden of Bordeaux is a lovely oasis of peace close to the city center. We reached the garden through the ferry boat since we had to cross the river to get there and it took only ten minutes. The garden is really relaxing. The Musée Mer Marine in Bordeaux is a new museum that showcases over 10,000 marine objects, reflecting the region's rich maritime heritage. The permanent exhibit features model ships, atlases, maps, and navigational instruments. Temporary exhibitions have included ocean photography by National Geographic veterans and models of Da Vinci's inventions. The museum also hosts works by famous cartoonist Jean-Jacques Sempe and is located in an elegant 18th-century mansion with French gardens.
Never bypass Musee Mer Marine, after your visit to La Cite du Vin. It is a 10 MN walk from it. İt is full of ship exhibits of all kinds: old wooden warships, contemporary french navy battle ships, transatlantics, a small gallery of paintings about sea and ships. The Titanic and ocean liner France replicas are exceptionally good.

Nice place than we were expecting)) Especially as I am not a big fan of Marine history, but this museum has many very interesting things and great ambiance. Very calm , or we were lucky not to fall into rush hour. We have spent 1,5 hours there, yet I thought that it would take like 30 minutes. The rest of my photos might tell...
Alexej — Google review
Small exhibition with lots of ship models and interesting displays and information However the problem here is the way they are displayed, the exhibit information cards are printed in a very small font and are low down and I literally had to squat on the floor to read them - okay for one or two but tiring for the whole exhibition Secondly on level two there is a whole section where the information was only in French and I speak English so I had to bypass All all of the information which would’ve been interesting to me. Yes we are in France but when in Bordeaux which is such an international city, the exhibition should also be in English as well to cater for all of the visitors. Consider considering the small size of the museum I thought the entrance Price was a little high particularly bearing in mind my comments above Also buying a ticket was extremely slow, the lady on the desk kept taking phone calls rather than selling tickets to the long line of people that we’re waiting

This is a very good museum on the history of sailing and ships. The 3 floors are laid out in chronological order from early prehistoric time, to Phoenicians to modern aircraft carriers. The pieces also are explained in English, which is very helpful to tourists. The history of the Bordeaux port is well done and the very many model ships was amazing. Particularly interesting we’re the ships from 1600s and 1700s. Also interesting was Napoleon’s funeral ship. The history is rich and well displayed. The staff are very helpful and we thought it made for an educational afternoon. We recommend you take the time to see this museum.

Interesting attempt for alternative urban development. Bringing together multiple small companies, with an alternative, social and/or green mission. The chocolate company is nice and smelling really good! Bakery unfortunately closed for a few weeks, which seems strange in the middle of the tourist season.... It was not mentioned on the website or at Google, which was unpleasant because I got here for the artisan bread. Anyway, skateboard track seemed really nice, but we did not try it. Lack of experience.... Many shops/ateliers and the main restaurant were closed. Also a missed opportunity I would say. Toilets really messy and one even overflowing without anyone taking care of it. Long lines for a drink at the bar. Looks like they could use more staff here.... I missed good international food trucks or a simple standard dish available any time. Also better sign posts on what is where would be helpful for visitors from outside the community. Hopefully they continue the developments and both variety and service quality go up.

Very nice place with lots of different activities to enjoy. There are several spots where you can have food; from a boulangerie offering local chocolate and pastries, to Italian pizza places and small wine bars. I especially recommend visiting on Sundays, when there are flea markets and other events that you won’t find during the week. It’s also a great place to just relax, as there are plenty of seats where you can sit and stay as long as you like.

Arkose Bordeaux is a rock climbing gym and restaurant located in Begles, France. The gym features many varied climbs, including some with good route setting, and the staff is friendly and helpful. There is also a children's area for kids to enjoy.
Extremely nice, organized and welcoming staff, amazing restaurant and bar with great food & drinks choices, and real nice bouldering gym with changing rooms, musculation/yoga room, children walls/activities and a sauna! A few suggestions: add the color codes for route difficulty in 1 or 2 spots WITHIN the gym so that they're easily visible, precise that the sauna is coed on the door(s) leading to it, add a few hooks to the wooden beams in the changing rooms for comfort, and I have also heard of climbers complaining about some of the shirtless guys, so maybe ask for full attire only in the climbing area?
Robin L — Google review
Badly maintained climbing area, especially the holds, and underutilized training space. Makde for a pretty miserable climbing experience. Seems like they have nice staff and decent route setters but some people higher up just don't care to maintain or invest on this place. Such a shame.

Sara A — Google review
Awesome climbing gym and restaurant for after climbing. Good route setting and nice varied climbs.the only downside for me was no loose chalk but I understand why.
Sam W — Google review
Pretty good gym. Visited as someone who normally climbs in NYC. A few things that might be helpful for other tourists: 1) Chalk isn't available to rent; you can only buy it. Their smallest chalk (liquid only) is 7 euros. 2) The rental shoes are in pretty bad shape compared to a lot of other gyms i've been to. A bit smelly (more than usual) and many pairs were extremely worn through to the rand. Also, the shoes are generally particularly bad, even for rentals. 3) Relating to (2), this gym is a lot of slab, and the rentals are so bad - again, even for rentals - that a lot of the slab climbs are extremely sketchy or unfeasible. As far as the climbing itself, the routes are pretty interesting and I thought relatively well set. It's a color system and they don't tell you what grades colors correspond to; if i had to guess, the gym mostly sets in the V2 to V6 range. There are 6 colors, and their hardest three colors, in order from hardest first, are Purple > Black > Red. I would guess that reds were in the V4-V5 range; blacks in the V6-V7 range, and purples in the V7-V8 range. If you are a V9+ climber you'll probably be able to flash everything in the gym. In general, the gym is moderate sized and you can probably knock out everything your grade range in about 2 sessions. The gym is quite stinky as other reviewers have noted, owing to a combo of being a bit old and dirty but also a strong sewage smell that would waft through the whole gym from time to time, which is unfortunate. The cafe area is really cool and the food/coffee is pretty good. Overall, i'd definitely recommend it to climbers looking to get a climb in while visiting Bordeaux and it's a solid gym. It's just objectively not a 5 star gym owing to the stench, poor condition of rentals, lack of rentable chalk, and modest number of overall routes.

We did the Caneles Tour. You likely will be sweating, hot and uncomfortable in the summer. Service was okay. Historical information shared was good, but VERY HOT so made it not worth it to pay so much to be uncomfortable and sweaty. Our wasn’t even a full boat. I can only imagine how hot it just get when it is full. The upstairs had very few seats under a canopy, which were probably the best seats since you got coverage from the sun and a breeze. The remainder of the seats upstairs were uncovered so you’d be under the hot Sun. The seats indoors on the lower level had no ventilation so it got very humid and hot. People had to take turns going out to the very small deck to get some fresh air. If you want to do it I would suggest getting to the boat AT LEAST 30min early so you get the limited seats outside under the canopy and you’re not stuck being hot and uncomfortable in the other seats.

Nice place for a family or friend day to practice your body boarding and surf skills. Super fun that they record the experience and you can enjoy a drink and watch your “skills” afterwards. We really enjoyed our time there and have visited a few times since. Book online prior or you could be waiting around or turned away!

The wave cafe was amazing and my kid had amazing fun. Therr were two staff member on the day I attended - one very friendly and nice lady (I did notice her various tattoes) and the other one not so nice shall I say.....Saying this, I would still recommend everyone to go try this. This is one of its kind experience. If the owners get to read this, wishing you the very best with this business and maybe, a bit more focus on staff customer care. One member of staff did not treat me well - if I asked questions I felt I was bothering her. She also came out of her way to ask me to pay for food and drink I had ordered with her colleague and already paid for and went on explaining she didn't want me to leave without paying because some customers would do that....honestly that was 'la cerise sur le gateau!'

The staff are commended for their attentiveness and the cleanliness and organization of the space. With a maximum height rule in place, Kidooland caters to toddlers and older kids alike.
The staff are truly courageous. Hordes of screaming children running around all day, some of them swinging a stick in the general direction of a piñata… It takes a brave person to keep a smile on their face in such conditions but the Kidooland team do it effortlessly. Thanks for your positive energy!

Apart on the kindness of the girl working both at reception and at the "bar" I am disappointed with the place. Really expensive (18 euros for 2 kids under 3) and additional payments inside for "special" games, not much entreteinments for small kids, lack of care, light, cleanliness and air aconditioned. Also al the bar not much for kids to eat but not possible to bring your own stuff. It is a shame.

Saint-André Cathedral in Bordeaux, a towering Romanesque cathedral dating back to the 11th century, may not be as grand in size as some of France's famous cathedrals, but it holds a unique and unexpected charm. Steeped in history, it was consecrated by Pope Urban II and has witnessed significant events such as the weddings of historical figures like Eleanor of Aquitaine and Louis VII.
Absolutely stunning cathedral in the heart of Bordeaux. The Gothic architecture is breathtaking, and the interior is peaceful and majestic. Make sure to visit the nearby Tour Pey-Berland for incredible views of the city. A must-see if you’re in Bordeaux!

I was unfortunately visiting after a family bereavement so my opinion is probably not as positive as others would be. It's large, overwhelming at times, and is very popular. I had no real access to peace and tranquility due to the large crowds and tours operating. Like all cathedrals it begs for money constantly and is vulgar in the way it spends on making itself look attractive.
Philip B — Google review
This is a totally astonishing building. It’s Bill Tower is located separate to the cathedral in this massive square, one of the largest in Europe. The church itself is a massive space. It has the most glorious windows and wonderful atmosphere. It is free to visitand there is a ticketed illuminations presentation. This presentation also has the option of a live choir, providing the music.

The Cathedral of Saint-André de Bordeaux, formally known as the Cathedral of Saint-André, is a historic and magnificent Catholic cathedral in Bordeaux, France. It serves as the cathedral church of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Bordeaux. Renowned for its soaring Gothic spire, exquisite carvings, and rich historical legacy, it stands as one of the defining landmarks of Bordeaux's old town. Originally a Romanesque structure, only one wall of the nave remains from the original Romanesque architecture. The majority of the existing structure is Gothic. The famous “Royal Portal” (Porte Royale), built in the early 13th century, is a masterpiece of early Gothic style. The remainder of the cathedral was primarily constructed between the 14th and 15th centuries. Consecrated by Pope Urban II in 1096, it serves as a major stop along the Tour route—one of the four traditional French pilgrimage routes to Santiago de Compostela. It is listed as part of the “French Routes of Santiago de Compostela” UNESCO World Heritage site. Attending a Mass here offers an atmosphere rich with spiritual resonance. On weekends, the square outside the church hosts various small markets, which are also worth exploring.

This early 19th-century bridge has become a pedestrian-friendly destination since 2017, offering visitors a serene escape from the city center. A leisurely walk across the Pont de Pierre provides stunning skyline views of Bordeaux over the river, especially enchanting after dark.
Worth to see that water is yellow in Garrona. Nice place for taking a walk and/or run. Not too crowded by cars. Mainly public traffic and a lot of tourist. Good place to take a nice picture of Bordeaux river side.

Some great views, but on a hot Sunday morning in May, it was far too crowded with too many runners trying to keep their speed up and barging into pedestrians. Plus a huge lack of people able to keep to the side of the path designated for walking in their direction. The only place in Bordeaux we found so much congestion from people.

It is a lovely park. It's located in the heart of the city, near place Quinconces. In this early spring, birds are singing and flowers are about to blossom. Even despite some security concerns I heard about that place, it is very nice and pictoresque. The main trail can get really muddy which is something to consider. I barely met any other people there, which makes sense considering how far from regular transport stations that is.

Went in the late afternoon, good view

The climb up takes a toll on your knees but if you're looking for a wild, dense and refreshing forest walk that's what you'll get! Very nice scenery and beautiful lake. Hidden gems for pique nique

Great park far for the curious eyes of most of the people. To reach it from Bordeaux center, I recommend the "batcub" ( public boat transport) from the stop Stalingrad up to lormont bàs. Take your camera with you! Btw, the way there is not well identified and there are no toilets or other kind of facilities around.

Such a quiet and incredible place to enjoy with family and friends!
Júlia S — Google review
One of my favorite parks in the area, it’s clean, green and even has a little water fountain for the dogs, they love it here. It’s quite big with little woodland creatures scuttling around in the bushes that you see sometimes, which is always interesting. There’s never more than a few joggers and dog walkers so it’s a really peaceful place to just stroll and enjoy the view.
