The Harris Museum, Art Gallery & Library in Preston is a captivating destination filled with an array of intriguing artifacts and stunning artwork. The museum boasts Greek-themed murals and sculptures, along with diverse collections including textiles, photography, fine art, and historical items. Visitors can explore the Discover Preston gallery to delve into the city's local history and marvel at over 12,000 coins, medals, and banknotes from around the world.
It has recently reopened in the Heart of Preston City Centre. An amazing display of social, archaeological and media history from the city. Its free entry with donation boxes scattered around the museum. The winding marble staircase is a beautiful touch and includes library and reading rooms for research purposes.

This is a tremendous museum, one of the best I've been to. I understand it's only been reopen for a month after a £19m refit and you could tell. It was clean, well laid out, easy to access and great information throughout. I learnt a lot here. Free lockers were a really Godsend for us too. The highlight was the free Wallace & Grommit exhibition at time of writing which we absolutely loved. We discovered this place by accident as we had a couple of hours to kill in Preston and we were delighted to have found this wonderful treat. Throughouly recommend a visit here.
Robert C — Google review
Great free museum. Lots of different displays and great exhibitions. Highly recommend the Wallace and Gromit showcase that's on at the moment. A must see for any fan. Great local history and variety of interesting art. Wheelchair accessible and family friendly
Jaz G — Google review
After too many years closed for renovation the Harris is open again. A free museum and very popular with everyone in Preston. Local archaeology and nationally important history as well as local work of artists and luminaries. The Nick Park 'Wallace and Grommit' exhibition is brilliant and inspiring for young and old. Don't be put off by the pillared frontage, the automatic opening doors welcome you to an accessible museum of wonders. The new entrance is light and airy as are all the exhibition spaces and stairways, both worth taking your time to enjoy. The new coffeeshop is large and is worth a visit for a snack during your visit. New toilets as well as the ones on the stairwell compliment the modern styling of the spaces. There is a lift for those visiting in wheelchairs. The library space has been enlarged with a child friendly area to share with parents and child height exhibits too. We shall be returning as there is far too much to appreciate on one visit. Well worth the £5 suggested donation.

Great experience for the kids! Free entry which is a bonus considering how much information, art and different sections there is! Really enjoyed looking around took us about an hour or two to have a good luck at everything. Wallace and gromit museum on the top floor is ace and they also have a little shop for Wallace and gromit merchandise to. Cafe on bottom floor and also caters for disabled people with a lift to all floors. Visited on a Wednesday and wasn’t too busy.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ So lovely to see the Harris Library open again — it’s such a beautiful building and a real Preston landmark. The café is a great addition, perfect for a coffee while exploring. The staff are friendly, knowledgeable, and clearly proud of the space. The Wallace and Gromit exhibition is fantastic, and getting to see Nick Park’s actual Oscar in person is a real highlight. A brilliant day out for all ages! 🏛️☕🎬

Went there for the Grand Reopening of the Harris Museum and Art Gallery and loved every single part of it! I've been to the place before it closed down for construction. It was a place I used to go to relax, read books and spend time in the library and now that it's open again, I can do that and more! The staff are all lovely and the changes have definitely been for good. Love the little kids library area. The addition of facts, benches and a fancy dress place is a great idea for kids to come, play, read and just be themselves! The cafe area next to the Library is such a huge improvement from last time! Very modern, lots of space to sit down and eat or relax and study and the prices aren't too bad either! The other floors have so many interesting things to see like the History of Preston area and the Paintings scattered all around and especially the Wallace & Gromit exhibition. I think it's really cool to look at what work has gone into making the movies. The gift shop is decently priced too! I definitely think its a must place to visit in Preston. You can literally spend hours in here and still have things to see. Will definitely be a place I will visit often!
Teiro A — Google review
Today visited the fantastic free to visit "Wallace & Gromit" Exhibition at the Harris museum. What really draws you in, is the attention to detail and also the small (almost) hidden little jokes within/on the models. For example the top of the submarine from "Vengeance most Fowl", which has a upturned bath tub on it and a yellow plastic duck on the periscope. The background info to the films is also great - e.g. that the first film "A Grand Day Out" took 7 years to make!!!! or how Wallace's arch-enemy (= Feathers McGraw) was the reason for "Vengeance most Fowl" Even if you are not (yet) a fan of Wallace & Gromit - the modelling skill displayed, is alone is a reason to visit it. And it is FREE!!!

Brockholes is a wetland and woodland nature reserve in Preston, offering a unique experience for nature enthusiasts. The reserve is home to rare bird species and features a floating visitor village. It hosts various family events such as craft sessions, open-air theatre, themed seasonal trails, tracking challenges, and den building activities. Additionally, it offers free guided walks and a popular school holiday club.
It was a glorious sunny day and Brockholes had been on our to-go list for some time. What a beautiful place, it's well laid out, there is a great team of volunteers to provide advice, lots of picnic tables and food walks. We will most definitely return.
Alan R — Google review
A great green open space and nature reserve for birds (no dogs allowed to protect ground nesting). Good set up where you can get a bite to eat and relax inside or out. The play area was a bit disappointing for the kids as it was under construction/refurb, but in fairness it looks like they're making a good job to make it better for the future.

We had a great time at the superhero event. My children are 18 months, 6 and 7 and they all joined in the fun! From mud throwing to den building, we were all entertained for a good 2 hours! The staff and volunteers were so friendly and great with the children. Thank you!
Rachel M — Google review
A lovely place to go visit with family, friends or just yourself. I usually walk all the way to Brockholes from the Preston city centre but even if the walk is long, the scenery makes up for it. A lot of greenery and amazing nature at Brockholes. A chance for you to bask in the nature and atmosphere and see the views. Definitely a must visit!
Teiro A — Google review
Had a lovely walk around Brockholes nature reserve. The weather was very pleasant nice sunny autumn day. Topped off with a coffee and ice cream. The car park has gone up to £6 which doesn't seem bad for all day parking but steep if your only there for a couple of hours. This makes people like cyclist park on the roadside so they don't gave to pay. The café is closed Mon, Tue, Wed now. Since we have been going the shop and plant stall have gone. The ice cream cafe has closed. You can get a coffee from the visitors centre out of a flask but the quality is poor and they charge £2.50 a cup. I know it's volunteer led, I know there is a cost to everything but if you don't provide facilities people won't bother going.
Dave M — Google review
Ample parking, a great cafe and lots of well surfaced paths. Plenty of birds to see & photograph. The floating village is an amazing construction too.
Jane E — Google review
If you love nature or bird watching you will love this place. Great for walking or picnic. Little shops there with local crafts, something to eat . Grab a coffe and enjoy the nature :)
Olga H — Google review
It's nice enough here. Well kept, good walking paths, nice cafe and visitor village. We did see a few unusual birds, some butterflies and damsel flies. The walk through the trees is lovely, like an enchanted tunnel. What did spoil it for me though, was the overwhelming traffic noise, with the site being right next to the motorway. It made the walks far less peaceful than they should have been, and made it difficult to use the bird identification app that I often use on walks. The pollution from the traffic isn't great either. That said, it's free entry, though you do have to pay for the car park, which was fairly pricey at £6 for a few hours. I'd suggest a visit if it's nearby to you, but I wouldn't travel too far or you might be disappointed.

Avenham and Miller Park is a picturesque riverside park located in Preston City Centre, offering a serene escape with its natural amphitheatre, Japanese water garden, and historic landmarks like the Sebastopol cannon. The park boasts miles of scenic walking paths along the River Ribble, surrounded by charming Georgian residential streets and quaint squares. Visitors can unwind amidst cultivated flowers, a Basalt rock from Giants Causeway, and a historic water fountain.
Avenham Park is an absolutely lovely beautiful scenic colourful green space. We were first time visitors planning to be a frequent visitors. Firstly, there's the park, a lovely well maintained open park space. There's a flowing river, which does what a river does, fair enough. Then we discovered an unexpected gem, a beautifully wonderful Japanese Garden! 🌲🥀🌸🏵 with a waterfall! There's also a pavilion where you can get refreshments and you can also freshen up there (yes, I'm referring to lavatorial facilities 🫢). This is a wonderful family pet friendly space, immaculately maintained - what is not to like.

Very spacious, even walkways, so it was easy to walk around. Japanese style garden was relaxing. No litter around, which is great. Near the River Ribble. It could have more Environmental Interpretation boards around to indicate some historic facts to help tourists or people interested in history. There could be some more bat boxes or bird houses installed, so encourage more wildlife. Relaxing Park and well kept. Will try and get there more often in my lunch break.
{Luke} C — Google review
Stunning park, absolute credit to the grounds people. Japanese gardens beautiful. Such a relaxing walk, everyone seems to be chilled here, friendly and chatty. Local pub (continental) at one end or dog friendly cafe on the park (although they are missing a trick in not selling any dog treats, this would boost your profits given how busy you get with doggy visitors) Plenty of parking. Lots of families enjoying the last bits of nice weather. Football played at weekends. Guild wheel passes through so be mindful of the cyclists who seem to think everyone should move for them, other than the ignorant riders this is a top notch park.

With living locally & being a dog owner, tend to mainly use the park for exercising our dog As it is a great place to explore with foot paths leading in & around the park.

A really nice park that anyone can enjoy. Their is a small play park at the bottom of the hill with a small but lovely cafe next to it-great for children. The area has large open grass area and multiple pathways taking you around the park, some are more "off road" than others but they are mostly well defined. As shown in my photos their are some beautiful Chinese gardens, a water fountain and large rocked areas with a man made waterfall. Overall the area is very nice for a casual walk while having facilities for both children to play and open ground for sports. The only downside I would say is its lack of security, it is rather isolated and at night I have known it to be quite rough. If the council set up better night light systems and security cameras as they have done at Winckley Square I believe this would easily be a 5* Park.
Harrison — Google review
Lovely park. Not all entrances are accessible for wheelchairs and prams. We came in, or tried to, from East cliff side and it was bollards and steps so had to walk round. Very steep path all the way down the the pavilion but if you're pretty fit it's fine (I'm 8 and a half months pregnant). Lots of places to sit, lovely little cafe selling ice cream and barm cakes with bacon/sausage. Lovely stroll along the river ribble, wide flat paths perfect for pram, wheelchairs, runners and cyclists. Small park for the kids next to public toilets. They were clean enough but very dark. These were not wheelchair accessible and dis not have changing facilities for babies. We took a picnic and a football which was perfect. Lots of dog walkers and it was dog poo free (Lots of bins located around it). Unfortunately when we were there an idiot on a motorbike with a balaclava on riding close up to everyone including children. I'm guessing this is probably a one off and not a reflection of the park itself.
Abby O — Google review
Lovely park respectfully used by most. Nice walk along edge of river or just sit and enjoy. Park is a bit hilly but something for everyone. Cafe looks nice food is nice but be prepared to queue. Queued for hot food only yo be told to come back in 30 mins as they were too busy ( hardly anyone in, basically everyone wanted ice creams but it was the same queue. No organisation.) Park however lovely and toilets in cafe and separate block in Park.

Ribble Steam Railway & Museum is a must-visit for anyone interested in Britain's railway history. The museum boasts a vast collection of well-maintained locomotives, some dating back over 100 years. Visitors can enjoy steam train rides along the riverside, offering a unique experience to delve into the region's industrial past.
What a truly excellent day we had in the company of driver Ben, fireman Rob and all the lovely people at the Ribble Steam Railway. The weather, the train, everything was spot on. Most of the heritage railways ree cosit have something which sets them apart. Here it's traversing the swing bridge at the mouth of the now thriving Preston Dock, derelict when I was a UCLAN student all those years ago, now home to thousands and with a great cafe (The Beach Hut) reviewed elsewhere, and bathed in Spring sunshine. Anyway, back to the railway: very good value for money at £12:50 for a ticket which enabled travel all day and entry to a fairly large museum shed, housing several exhibits as well as some splendid railwayana. I can't rate it anything less than 5, but there is in my humble opinion an opportunity for further enhancement if they were to issue a traditional card ticket and maybe offer those nice DPS fridge magnets, which we like to collect. In addition to the wonderful Furness Railway no 20 locomotive of ,1863 and the spotlessly clean carriages, they offered decent refreshment and good welfare facilities. Top job Ribble Steam Railway. Long may you prosper! And thanks again to Ben, Rob and all the team for a grand day out!
Dick M — Google review
This was a great museum to visit, with locomotives and carriages across different time periods! The regional and industrial usage of these units, including steam and electric ones, is detailed and a fair number were built in Preston. Green and blue coloured trains are very stylish to see, information display boards cover the development of the likes of diesel and electric trains. The steam railway is a pleasant experience with cosy blue seating across an old carriage and former Post Office carriage is open to look around indoors, showing the parcels in their spaces as they would have been transported to locations across the UK! Model railway is marvellous alongside the signalling information with an interactive game to press the right signals too and mini coal train is a sight for eyes, other vehicles having miniature displays is a great touch although the price is a bit expensive over £10 for the museum not that large.
K. P — Google review
Nice heritage railway with very well preserved MK1 coaches and a nice section of track along a road (which is also a rolling bridge). The museum has a lot of engines and a couple wagons you can enter. Overall I really liked my visit and I would definitely recommend coming here
Jas C — Google review
Really enjoyable afternoon, excellent museum with a good array of Locomotives and wagons. A nice cafe and friendly, helpful volunteers. We were on the fish and chips excursion ( bought as a birthday gift ) hauled by a steam Locomotive. Would certainly visit again.
Mark S — Google review
Nice exhibition and museum with plenty of locomotives to see, sadly most cannot be entered. The steam train ride is in original old rolling stock, however the journey is short and around 3 miles each way (it's a round trip so no alighting at the turning point). There is plenty of free parking, and the on-site cafe is nice with good, well priced food. We went with young children which was a challenge to keep them entertained.
Andrew W — Google review
An absolute little gem of a railway, that is home to a collection of wonderful and historic locomotives and rolling stock, including Furness Railway No. 20 - the oldest standard gauge locomotive still operating in Britain. The line is about 1.5 miles long, so a 3 mile round trip, and takes about 30 minutes. There's also a cafe and gift shop, as well as the wonderful museum on site. Thoroughly recommend.
Ethan P — Google review
Very friendly and helpful staff, and quite a nice ride of about 25 minutes "out and back". Although standard gauge, usually only tank engines are run. A guided tour of the workshop is available and well worthwhile.
Brian W — Google review
This is a lovely place to visit for adults and children. Such a hidden gem. Lovely historical steam trains in the museum, nice kids play area. And a lovely cafe. The steam train ride was really good as well.

Bowland Wild Boar Park is a rural wildlife park located in the ancient Forest of Bowland. It offers various activities such as animal feeding, tractor rides, play areas, and riverside walks. The park is home to a diverse range of animals including wild boars, owls, deer, ostriches, and meerkats.
Bowlands wild boar park is one of the best campsites I have been too. The walks here are just fantastic and quiet which we all need sometimes. It is a great get away from the busy world. The staff are friendly. The food at the cafe is delicious. I would recommend the ice creme and the lamb and mint pasty.

Mixed...please read! Make sure the cafe is open or take a picnic. The alternative provided today ( whilst very tasty) wasn't at all aimed at children and very expensive. You have to pay for everything extra once inside ( don't pay the £1 for the motorized carts...lasts about 60secs...even our 4yr olds were underwhelmed). Plus the 2 tractor rides are also extra money. The animals are lovely to feed and very gentle even with our boisterous 2.5 year old. They all enjoyed the chick stroking! Overall, been visiting for years and it's not improving. Shame as it's such a lovely idea and a great site.
Fiona E — Google review
A fun and fantastic day out. There is a good amount of animals to see and feed. The kids play area is big and spacious. There are some beautiful walking trails. We took a 4,7 and 9 year old and they all loved it. The food in the cafe was ok and prices how you would expect from a place like this however the car park is right there so I would be easy to bring a picnic and collect it from the car at unch. There are plenty of benches dotted around.
Deb F — Google review
Great family day out, with lost of different animals to see, they all looked well care for and happy, loved the little goat walk ❤️ Didn’t get her name but she was in the Chick handling room, she really nice to talk too, said she had been there for 4 years and loves working with the animals and you could tell she was great!! In my opinion you could have more handling sessions, not just chicks :) overall I would definitely recommend!!
Alisha D — Google review
We came as a family earlier this week and were quite disappointed. The whole place felt very tired and a bit run down. The tractor ride wasn't worth the money. Had much better days out for less money.
Michelle S — Google review
When our eldest was younger we use to bring him to the wild boar park and have since returned with our youngest. The outdoor play area is great, lots of different, swings, slides, climbing frames and zip wires for different ages. There's a selection of animals to view such as Meerkats, ducks, hens, goats, Llamas and Emu's and further round the Wild Boars of course! There's an indoor play barn with shaded seating, play kitchen and sand, a climbing rope, slide and basketball set with some play tractors. It's always great of course to purchase a tractor barrel ride, it's a highlight for the young ones and as a family we all go on the tractor ride to view the water buffalo and horses, although you can go on the adventure walk to see these. There are plenty of outdoor seating and you can bring a picnic. They did have a street food vendor onsite and the food smells were delicious but we brought our own food. We did sample the ice-cream from the shop, a bit pricey at £3 for one small scoop but it was delicious, I tried the rum and raisin. It's not a huge site but it's enough for upto 10 year olds to walk round and have fun!
Stacey R — Google review
Extremely disappointing compared to previous visits. Visited end of June, building up to the busy school holiday peak times. Cafe closed (which we didnt find out until we got in), barn had no animals and whole place very rundown. Price was reduced to 5pounds each but we still didn't get value for money. The cute piglets was the highlight. Won't be rushing g back

Not what we have come to expect. Usually a nice day out but today just seemed run down and felt generally flat. The food options in the cafe are very limited too so bring a packed lunch.

The zoo offers various animal experiences, including feeding binturongs, reindeer, bats, and lorikeets. Guests can enjoy informative bird shows and interact with sociable animals like Larry, Curly, and Mo. The staff are knowledgeable and enthusiastic about the diverse range of animals at the zoo.
This was a lovely place to visit. Though small, it is very interesting, and well worth your time. Look out for the bat experience. You can walk into a dark room where the bats roost, and can see/feel them flying around your head. Magical. There is a small but interesting gift shop. The place is fully accessible.
Barbara M — Google review
Never been hear before so thought we would give this place a try and for a tenner entrance fee I wasn't expecting much. But I must say I was pleasantly surprised, it is a small place but it was clean and tidy, the staff were welcoming and knowledgeable. We did the Lorikeet feeding which was brilliant, I wasn't aware of all the other experiences they did and they was very well priced. If I would of looked on the website properly I would of seen the experiences and definitely booked more beforehand. All in all a lovely little place, I would definitely return.
Laura H — Google review
A small but lovely zoo. The animals are well cared for and the keepers very friendly and willing to stop and have a chat. We caught the bird display and chatted with the trainer for a long time after. Really informative. We're now contemplating booking a holiday at the park just to come to the zoo again.
Aerliss — Google review
I was gifted the keeper experience for my birthday and it was everything I could have hoped for and more. It was completely tailored to me, our guide was brilliant. We fed and cared for a set list of animals and then could pick a few off a separate list. Lots of information and even though we had our little jobs to do it didn't feel rushed. I didn't want the day to end! Especially when our guide knew my love for capybaras and took me back in at the end of the experience for a few last chin scratches. We have taken our 5 year old today just on the zoo admission to see what he thinks and he has had a fantastic day. Even with the drizzley weather there was lots to do and see. We've been round the zoo twice and visited the bats a lot! It's a lovely place to go and the conservation side of it is great for a child who wants to save the world from plastic!!

What an amazing experience to feed and pet Capybaras! Would 10/10 recommend to anyone. The whole centre is full of animals to view and there are multiple daily talks on certain animals. Parking is not far from the entrance. There is only 1 toilet and 1 disabled toilet for the whole site. It was quite a wait with a whole group of school kids on site. Gift shop is cute and not massively overpriced. Friendly and informative staff 👌
Claire D — Google review
It is not a huge zoo, but it makes up for its size with enthusiasm. The staff are ever so helpful and willing to discuss the animals and the many conservation projects they are working on. My wife and I attended for the anteater experience and the mini experience with the binturongs, both were excellent and value for money. We will return to do the full capybara experience and some more of the mini experiences. Well worth the 2 hour drive.
P B — Google review
A very nice and cozy place, friendly staff, and interesting animals to see. The downside was that you couldn't feed the capybaras; there was nothing to eat except chips. The upside was the animal shows and you could feed the parrots.
Ola B — Google review
Been here a few times now! It's not particularly big, but they have a lovely selection of animals and experiences. They even have a bat walk through enclosure which is our favourite. You can feed a binturong, bats, artic foxes and a few more. Staff are always friendly and full of information. Always a enjoyable experience here!

Park
Nestled in North-East Lancashire, Beacon Fell Country Park is a delightful escape for nature enthusiasts and families alike. Spanning an impressive 75 hectares, this historic park—established in 1970—boasts a diverse landscape of woodland, grassland, and moorland. As you explore its numerous trails, you'll be treated to breathtaking vistas that include the Forest of Bowland AONB and Morecambe Bay, with occasional glimpses of the Isle of Man on clear days.
Great for exploring with the dog. It gets busy but it doesn't feel overly busy on the trails. Very well kept. Cafe with great coffee. Plenty of picnic benches around the area. Plenty of parking. £1 parking for all day.

Car parking £1 !! (& the meters were our of order for us) for an amazing park. Lots of different walks, from easypeasy to more strenuous. Stunning views, woodland, sculptures, birds everywhere, wild flowers, ponds, dragonfly, ducklings, picnic benches .. the visitor centre has a little cafe with information boards, maps etc and the most friendly and informative woman at reception. There's a little glass viewing area to watch the bird feeders (Inc a squirrel and little harvest mouse when we were there) first time I've seen a Redpoll !! Toiiet block seperate. Ample parking space, it's a one-way system for driving, so plenty of different little parking areas if you want to move around. Woodland sculptures, tree swings and rocks for families. All well maintained. Highly recommend this fabulous family friendly park.

Beautiful scenery and walks with amazing views. Plenty of parking and cheap at £1 for the day. There is also a visitors centre with a nice cafe alongside well maintained toilet facilities. Can't believe it's taken us so long to visit and will definitely return soon.

Looks really nice didn't go far but climbing bits for kids. Well done pathways for easy walking.

Lovely nature walk. I really enjoyed spotting all the great carvings
Sandra B — Google review
Lovely place for a walk. Carpark costs £1. But. Needs RingGo app if machine isn't working, and it wasn't when we were there. There is poor mobile service, so have the app already installed.
Ian B — Google review
Stunning and quiet. People do need to respect these types of places a lot more. I saw bags of dog eggs and an empty coffee cup left behind when there are plenty of bins. Scumbags.
Colin W — Google review
Quite a few different paths so you can doge people or dogs. Lovely area but a little bit too many up and down hill (for myself 😜but manageable. Has a little nature playground which can get very busy over bank holidays

The facilities include a children's play area, water sports lakes, laundry services, and clean showers. Absolutely love this place! The aqua park is so much fun - for kids & adults alike! Perfect place to paddleboard, cafe is brilliant and food amazing. Staff are all brilliant, well trained & friendly. On a beautiful day it feels like you could be abroad! Love that it is so local to us, we will be regular visitors for sure!

Great experience! It’s a beautiful place with amazing food and water sports. The service is 5/5, especially the instructors, Georgia and Theo were very helpful and fun! A must visit place if you are travelling to Blackpool.

Such a fun place, as a group of 10 adults all 30 years + safe to say we all had such a laugh not just for kids ! Staff are super friendly and helpful will definitely be returning. Can bring your own wet suit or hire all the equipment.

What a lovely hidden gem Wild shore was, especially Fins Cafe Bar, great hospitality & great food menu, this will be our go to place to eat now while in the area.

Off the cuff last day of the summer holidays treat with the youngest! Cracking little place s oglad we visited. I saw the website as we were looking for somewhere to paddleboard and try our new boards out! (Bit of a disaster in Anglesey the week previous) 😳 Gave them a call to clarify if we could borrow a buoyancy aid (x3) as we don't have any. They couldn't have been any more helpful! We were advised that we would normally need to book a 2 hour slot as it's quite busy, so dod it over the phone. Pretty big car park, loads of spaces! We arrived earlier than planned but gave us time to set up our paddleboard and get changed. Super easy, changing rooms are near by but we opted for the tricky car park change 🙄 Nice lake and it was a gorgeous day! There's paddleboard for hire, you can take your own and there's also wakeboarding and an inflatable obstacle course! Prices are in the image but are subject to change! We can't wait to go back once the kids have bmgone back to school.

I took 5 children from age 8 to 15 on the Ringo they had the best time!! A massive thank you to Kat on reception and Finn who ran the activity both very friendly and will help with anything! It made the experience even more fun!…. Fantastic facilities on site! And very clean and tidy!….We are on holiday in Blackpool but if we are ever on holiday in Blackpool again we will definitely be going back!

Nestled along Lancaster Canal, Haslam Park is a charming Edwardian park in Ashton with Grade II listed gates at its entrances. The northern part has transformed into the Haslam Park Nature Reserve since 2006, featuring sensory gardens and an old drinking fountain. Accessible for disabled visitors, the park offers level paths including a picturesque lime tree avenue. With mature woodlands, a serene lake, and access to Lancaster Canal, it's popular among dog walkers and families with young children.
A wonderful big park for all the family. Lots of paths to wander. Play area for the kids. A few bench’s around the lake to rest. Beautiful flowers. There are designated areas where you can let your dog off lead as there is also a nature reserve. There’s a large car park that closes at 9pm

Lovely park for walking/strolling. Nice relaxing and calm green scenery 😎

Gem of a great large city park. Pond, stream, wild flowers, mature trees, sensory garden, orchard, rose garden and lots of wide open spaces. Well worth a visit. Access to the canal. Small car park. Unfortunately no toilet facilities.

I’m a regular visitor to Haslam Park. A lovely place to take the family for a walk—peaceful and quiet, with beautiful woodland paths. The pond with mallards and a swan is a lovely touch. There’s a good play area for children and plenty of open space for them to run around. Easy to lose track of time here.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Haslam Park is a beautiful green space and one of Preston’s real gems. It’s perfect for families, there’s plenty of open space for kids to play and a great, flat path that’s ideal for learning to ride a bike. In autumn, the park is stunning, with the trees creating a colourful tunnel of leaves that’s perfect for a walk or some photos. It’s peaceful, well kept, and a lovely place to enjoy nature all year round. 🍂🚲🌳

People say this park offers a canal, play area, pond, stream, wild flowers, mature trees, sensory garden, orchard, rose garden, and wide open spaces. They highlight the various paths, the access to the canal, and the availability of tennis courts. They also like the beautiful scenery and the suitability for picnics.

Nestled just off Cop Lane in Penwortham, Hurst Grange Park stands as the largest green space in the area, steeped in history from its days under the ownership of William Adam Hulton's family. The remnants of the once-grand Hurst Grange mansion are now limited to the beautifully restored Coach House, which houses a delightful café and event hall.
Great place to take a walk, walk the dog, take the kids to the park, or just relax. Beautiful surroundings with plenty to keep your little ones entertained.
MarkAnt.39 — Google review
Lovely park with a good range of seating and play equipment suitable for ages 2-12. The play area is enclosed by a fence and there is a younger play area with sand one end, a climbing net, swinging rope and swings in the middle with an older play frame with slides the other end. You can sit and have full view of your child across the whole of the play area. First time visiting and won't be the last :)
Stacey R — Google review
Lovely park with free parking just outside. I didn’t stay too long on my visit as there were quite a few flies—probably down to the weather at the time. Some of the paths start out paved but then continue unpaved, so do keep that in mind if you’re planning a walk. There are a few benches dotted around, ideal for a picnic, and there’s also a children’s playground. I’ll definitely be heading back another time to explore more of it! ✅ Free parking.

Extremely popular place for dog walking, its the only sizable park for Penwortham. Dogs are allowed off lead although some, and only some owners who frequent the park are fairly precious of their pooches - beware. There's a cafe at the park lodge open from 10am - 4pm. Accessible and not so accessible paths good for all.
Claire B — Google review
A super, mid size park with open areas, wooded areas, ponds, a well kept and safe children's play area, plenty of benches. A wonderful café that does super food and has loos. Good pathways that are wheelchair friendly, and it's dog safe. ( But requests to keep them on a lead).
Steve M — Google review
We love this park, it has everything you need for a young family. The playground has so many different apparatus - it's suitable for all ages I would say. The cafe is also close by with great changing facilities and lovely food. It's a lovely place to visit regardless of the weather.
Lauren B — Google review
Small, but well kept park with a good play area and smashing cafe...we'll worth a visit.
Colin L — Google review
Lovely place for a walk with or without a dog. Nice children's playground that's fenced off. The old Penwortham Hill Rovers changing rooms has been converted and renovated into a cafe . It recently had an opening ceremony with dignitaries. Three of the ponds have had new fencing erected. It looks much better now.
