Museum
History Museums
The Salisbury Museum, located in the King's House opposite the cathedral's west front, offers a fascinating journey through history. The Wessex gallery presents significant archaeological discoveries from prehistoric times to the Norman Conquest, including Stonehenge-related exhibits. Visitors can explore local costumes spanning 250 years and remarkable British ceramics. Additionally, the museum features Turner watercolors and the impressive 12-foot Salisbury Giant alongside his companion hobbyhorse, Hob Nob.
I came in late, about 45 minutes before closing, after hearing a rumor about a mummified hand being displayed here. The docent informed me that, sadly, there was no hand, but there were LOTS of skeletons and a mummified cat. I felt seen! This man has matched my freak. I was charged a minimal late entry fee (around £5). The staff here was wonderfully informative and I enjoyed tooling around the museum and asking questions as I saw fit. The museum has quite a diverse collection of artifacts as well as art. I think it houses the largest collection of Stonehenge artifacts, which was nice to see right after Stonehenge. It really completed my little tour of the area and I will probably come back. There's a cafe on site, closed while I was there, and a nice gift shop where I stocked up on postcards.

Lovely modern museum, good lighting and layout. Many exhibits, in fact the better than the interior exhibition at Stonehenge by some margin. Neolithic era and Bronze age exhibits. Its holding many of the pieces from all the famous local sites including the Amesbury archer. And the Salisbury drainage collection of lost personal items is excellent. Multiple eras covered all presented in a modern way. Recommended.
Jools U — Google review
Excellent museum, very well laid out and informative. Child friendly with plenty to keep the young ones engaged. A great half day visit, a whole day if combined with the cathedral. Would highly recommend.
John — Google review
Their Wessex gallery takes you back in time to the Stone Age. My favourite item is a jade axe head: perfectly formed, with a polished finish, yet about 6000 years old. In another part of the museum, learn about local spitfire manufacture during WW2. And there's loads more... Currently there is a small but excellent exhibition about Elizabeth Frink showing something of her life, a few pieces of smaller scale sculpture and her 2D art work. If the weather is good you can have coffee and cake on the front lawn with a excellent view of the cathedral. Well worth a visit, in fact worth several visits.
Nick G — Google review
Fabulous collection of local artefacts. Anglo Saxon, Roman, Bronze and Iron ages. Some fascinating reconstituted burials with grave goods. All set in a lovely environmentally controlled building in the grounds of Salisbury Cathedral. Well worth a visit.
Heather C — Google review
I had such a fantastic experience at the Salisbury Museum! The museum is beautifully laid out, well-structured, and packed with fascinating things to see – I ended up spending around three hours there because there was so much history to take in, and it honestly surprised me how engaging it all was. The volunteers and staff are absolutely wonderful – friendly, welcoming, and incredibly knowledgeable. They’re more than happy to guide you through the exhibits and share the stories behind the history, which really brought everything to life. I felt genuinely proud to have moved here and to be able to support such an amazing museum. If you’re as lucky as I was, you might get to meet Nigel – he was brilliant, taking the time to explain many of the displays in a really engaging way. It made the visit even more memorable. The museum also has a lovely café and a gift shop, which was the perfect way to finish the visit with a tea and a snack. It’s very family-friendly too, with activities to keep children entertained. I can’t recommend this museum enough – it’s a must-visit in Salisbury!
Ersilia R — Google review
Excellent museum with soooooo many finds in the local area and a comprehensive look at the history of Salisbury. We had 75mins, but needed more. Only open till 4 in winter. Nice cafe, friendly staff. I reckon it'll take 2hrs or more to take time to look round. Wish I had more time.
Jackie R — Google review
The Museum boasts an incredible array of artefacts from throughout our history. We were surprised (pleasantly) at the care that has gone into the design of the galleries, which ensures that the Disabled or people short of sight/hearing are catered for. From low information boards, to well laid-out exhibits, as well as seats throughout the galleries. The level of thought that has gone into ensuring that people from minority groups are represented through fact-checking and getting outside opinions is incredible. Our visit to the Museum was only let down by the cafe. While their menu is certainly unique from other museum cafes, with an all-day breakfast and toasted bagels, as well as a fish finger brioche bun, quiche, and chilli con carne, the lack of vegan options is stark. From a menu which isn't labelled at all for allergy and dietary requirement, to unclear options for sandwiches, toasties and jacket potato fillings, I was the only let down member of my party, with only a bag of crisps to satisfy me, while my group had full lunches. A review from 2017 on TripAdvisor also lists this problem, so it would be good if reviews could be checked, and adequate steps are made to ensure that all Dietary Requirements are catered from (even if it is just a generic vegan cheese toastie). This won't stop us from revisiting the museum by any means, but we will certainly have to rethink our plans on what to eat while we visit. Top marks to the Museum, but the Cafe needs work.

Old Sarum, located a couple of miles north of Salisbury, is an ancient site with a rich history. It was originally a Neolithic settlement and later became an Iron Age hill fort. In Norman and Angevin times, it housed a Royal Castle and the footprint of Salisbury's first cathedral can still be seen. The area offers ample space for kids to run around and explore the ramparts while surrounded by picturesque Wiltshire countryside.

Mompesson House, located in Salisbury's Cathedral Close, is a stunning 18th-century property owned by the National Trust. This architectural gem showcases exquisite Queen Anne design and features an interior adorned with period furniture, impressive plasterwork, and a remarkable oak staircase. Visitors can also admire splendid paintings and antique furniture while exploring the house. The property includes a charming walled garden area and a delightful tea room for visitors to enjoy.
Lovely visit to this very impressive house. Had a lovely talk about it's history which was very informative. Not a big house but we'll worth the visit as it's in Cathedral square ,a beautiful setting. Small garden and coffee shop
Clare S — Google review
We decided to visit here as we were wandering around the town. The volunteers do an awesome job, from the welcome at the door to the information as we wandered through the house. The Trust have done an excellent job with the furnishing. If you have time then worth a visit.
Kiwisflythecoop N — Google review
Small museum showcasing a house furnished and decorated in the Regency period (early 1800s). The talk about the history of the building by the NT lady was very interesting. Lovely gardens outside with small cafe and second hand bookshop.
Martin G — Google review
Very unimpressive house. If I had paid to visit I’d have been extremely annoyed so glad we are NT members. Only seven rooms to see all filled with non authentic furniture which is not part of the original house. Boring place. Cafe there is nice though. Won’t be coming back.
Caroline B — Google review
Fantastic place we went on the guided tour for about one hour well worth volunteers very knowledgeable and friendly 8 rooms a little cafe and garden and a small bookshop we came all the way from Birmingham kings norton coaches toilets in and outside cathedral limited parking options a couple of step but also a flat entrance for disabled people
Matthew B — Google review
A lovely National Trust place. Great staff, helpful and knowledgeable. It's only a small property, but lovely. Cafe and usual facilities, but sadly, no gift shop.
Lynn ( — Google review
The staff are incredibly friendly and polite, always happy to share a chat and offer thoughtful insights. The atmosphere is calm and welcoming, with a rich history that adds depth to the experience. The cafeteria is charming, and the toilet facilities are clean and well-maintained — a truly lovely place to visit.
S J — Google review
We visited today and had the most wonderful time. All the NT staff we encountered were so friendly and passionate, it’s very clear how much they love their roles. We thoroughly enjoyed the 11:45 talk about the history of the house through the years, the lady doing the talk was most engaging and we learned a lot about the previous occupants and decor. The house and gardens are beautiful and it is a manageable size for those that find walking around more expansive places challenging and it could also nicely tied in with a visit to Salisbury Cathedral to make a day of it. Thank you, we look forward to visiting again in the future.

Cathedral
Church
Place of worship
Salisbury Cathedral, located in The Close, Salisbury SP1 2EJ, is a stunning example of early English architecture. It boasts the tallest spire in England at over 400ft and offers guided tours to the base for breathtaking views. The cathedral is also home to one of the four surviving original copies of the Magna Carta from 1215 and houses the world's oldest working clock dating back to 1386.
This place ROCKED! What a beautiful church with such a rich history. We had just a couple of hours to spend in Salisbury and had to visit this amazing church. We did a self-guided tour in about an hour and could have spent more time there. Admission provides for entry for a whole year. Would love to get back here when we have more time.
DUdErOck — Google review
Fabulous morning looking round the cathedral! Beautiful, so much history. Magna Carta was fantastic. The cafe is amazing, wonderful food, GREAT coffee and the homemade shortbread is to die for!! But the view of the spire through the glass roof is inspired! Our whippet had a great run round outside admiring the view before we went in, huge safe area between the cathedral and the car park. Will be back, especially as you can visit the cafe without going into the cathedral. Really highly recommend a visit.
Rel — Google review
Wonderful visit. £2 cheaper if you book online. £11 instead of £13. Spent a good hour and a half wLking round. Lots of information boards. Talk on the clock fascinating. All the cathedral guides well knowledgeable and informative. Cafe has meals and snacks, nor cheap though. Two teas and a bicci £9.50! Lots to become absorbed in. Well worth a visit. Didn't have time for tours. We parked at long stay car park £7.50 for 5 hours.
Jackie R — Google review
This is a fantastic place to come and view an amazing building. There is a lot to see and learn about. The staff and volunteers were all very nice and helpful. Magna Carter was a fascinating object to see. The refectory and gift shop were a pleasing addition. Well worth the entry fee.
Mike ( — Google review
The chapter housed the magna carta and had boards you could walk around with which explained what all the carvings were, what a great idea. We stayed about 2 hours because of parking but you could spend all day there. The price of admission allows you to visit as many times as you want for 12 months.
Paul L — Google review
Beautiful cathedral. The tower tour is amazing. I am claustrophobic and it’s fine as the staircases are in open spaces so you are not closed in. Amazing views from the top and the guides are brilliant. Very peaceful surroundings.
Champs — Google review
Wow, the people here are SO nice, especially the gate agent entering the grounds! He didn't charge us because we just wanted to stop and snap a picture. He not only gave us a super easy/quick place to park, he opened the bathrooms for us!!! AND, he gave us some interesting history of the cathedral's construction (built over a watersoaked gravel bed). Oh, and the Cathedral is gorgeous from the outside - didn't go inside. FYI - also check out the Atlas Obscura noted High Street Gate nearby
Lisa H — Google review
Salisbury Catherdral is just an absolutely amazing place of worship. Whether you believe in god or not it is worth visiting. It blows my mind how they made it There are so many interesting pockets of history there, I was amazed to see there is an original Magna Carta there. A true Britsh gem.

Located in Hangar 1 at Old Sarum Airfield, the Boscombe Down Aviation Collection offers a captivating display of fighter jets and historic aircraft. Visitors can explore the collection of aircraft, cockpits, weapons, and model aircraft associated with the Boscombe Down site. The museum provides guided tours and interactive experiences, allowing guests to sit in the cockpits of various jets such as the Meteor NF11 jet fighter and Canberra T4 bomber.
An absolutely brilliant museum. Full of fascinating and unusual aircraft and with the bonus of being able to get up close to the cockpits and interiors. The volunteer staff are amazingly knowledgeable and friendly and every corner of the hangars is dripping with history. Don’t ignore the Royal Flying Corps section in the north hangar- the contents therein would be worth the price of admission alone such is their rarity and interest. This was an unplanned visit due to a last-minute change of route on our journey to Poole. I’m so glad of that change as this is one of the most interesting places I’ve ever visited. Bravo!
Oliver H — Google review
Absolutely amazing place. Really cool planes with access to almost all of them- a dream for boys of all ages. The staff is incredibly nice and knowledgeable and enthusiastic and passionate. Most of them were either flying one of these planes themselves or were engineers, hence you can learn a tone about aviation. If you lucky you can also watch skydivers from hanger 3. Best museum we ever visited.
Kathrin S — Google review
We loved the hands on aspect of the museum, you are allowed to climb in the cock pits of some planes, and the staff so friendly and knowledgeable, we leant alot about the history of the spit fire and Lancaster, plus some other interesting planes. The 12 and 8 year olds loved it too. Thank you.
Diane C — Google review
It’s one of the most best aviation museums in the uk. Boscombe down aviation collection is very family friendly, informative, interactive, very historic and the ticket prices are very fair. Also you can go in a lot of different cockpits of different types of military aircraft. Also if you are lucky they sometimes bring out their Hawker t1 and turn on its engines. The location is great for people who live near by but it pretty hard to get to if you live far away but, I don’t mind. It is also really close to RAF Boscombe down which is pretty cool. If you love going into the cockpits of planes Boscombe aviation would be GREAT for you!!!! 。◕‿‿◕。
Coo R — Google review
Fabulous place to visit! A great place for kids and adults alike to get the opportunity to get up close with aircraft from the past. There are few places where children are encouraged to climb into displays in a museum but here they certainly are! The staff are incredibly friendly and always up for a chat. Would recommend visiting to anyone!
Sam T — Google review
What a lovely experience! This collection of planes and helicopters, including a great number of aircraft cockpits which you are invited to climb into is worth a visit. The staff are all volunteers who do their roles with such passion and all have a wealth of experience that they are very willing to share with you.
Mike H — Google review
A surprisingly large collection from what we expected. Comprehensive collection of mainly cold war jets and cockpits with nearly all fully accessible within historic hanger. New flying corp section newly opened. Located on the edge of Old Sarum airfield with free parking. Refreshments and food available outside plus also brewery tap room.
Colin B — Google review
Great afternoon at this place. Lots of history and boards to read but also they let you climb into the cockpits of the planes that are open! Absolutely amazing staff who are all volunteers and most are retired pilots themselves so well worth a visit!

Arundells is a historic medieval house located in Cathedral Close, Salisbury. It was the former residence of British Prime Minister Edward Heath until his passing in 2005. The house has been open to the public since 2008 and offers a glimpse into its late 13th-century heritage as well as personal items and custom furnishings commissioned by Heath.
Whatever your opinion of the late Sir Edward Heath, this is a fascinating place to visit, full of his impressive collections from around the world. The delightful garden backs on to the River Avon and has superb views over to the cathedral.
Simon R — Google review
Absolutely fascinating, a chance to see the man as well as the politician. The story of the man away from politics, his wartime experiences, music & travel were all fascinating. The volunteer were very informative adding a little more information in Ted Heath's character and what it was like for him when he lived at Arundells.
Andy T — Google review
A very happy experience last Thursday on a wet and miserable June day. The entry for house and garden was reasonable, £10, especially as the ticket is valued for entry for another 12 months. As many reviewers have said, the room stewards were very knowledgeable and welcoming. Lots of reading material in each room and fascinating facts to learn. Particularly interesting was the room containing information about Heath’s war record. His books, music, paintings and sporting achievements indicate an erudite Prime Minister worthy of his position.
M J — Google review
The former home of Prime Minister Edward Heath. His last residence, filled with lots of photos and his collections. Great room guides sharing the history. The garden is quite tranquil. It cost us £10 each to enter and has a small souvenirs. Worth it though for the upkeep.
Lynn ( — Google review
Lovely Georgian house, inside has been modernised but some aspects remain. Inside is all about ex PM Edward Heath and the items he collected or was presented when in office. Lovely garden runs out to the river and there's part of his yacht with a tragic tale.

Looks good 👍 from the outside unfortunately couldn't afford to go in this time no money but got some photos disabled accessible toilets in and outside cathedral parking very tricky brilliant views

Beautiful, historic house of a true statesman. Lovely stewards, very friendly and helpfull

Absolutely fascinating house with wonderful volunteers. Steeped in history and as Ted Heath left it full of his possessions including paintings, photos, books, his piano and gifts from all the dignitaries that he met. The garden is beautiful. Nice little theatre but ruined by a Male person attending the same show who believed they had the right to shout humiliate and tell a member of our party they had no right to use a multi sex universal disabled toilet and start shouting at them for doing so despite that individual being registered disabled and having multiple medical needs. The show itself The 39 steps was very good and the actors were fantastic .

Old Sarum, located two miles north of present-day Salisbury, is an ancient hill fort with a rich history dating back to the Iron Age. It was once home to a Norman cathedral and a strategically positioned castle built by William the Conqueror in 1075. The site also housed a Roman fort and later became a bustling town settlement under Saxon rule. However, by 1220, the inhabitants were relocated to New Salisbury, leading Old Sarum into decline.
We parked withput charge, in a small layby next to the lane off the main road opposite the Harvester. We didn't pay to go into the central area but thoroughly enjoyed exploring and finding out more about this fascinating ancient monument. Excellent interpretation panels and fantastic views. Photos don't do the size, scale and magnitude of the earthworks justice.
Alyson L — Google review
Worth a visit, especially if you have the English Heritage membership and have been to nearby Stonehenge. There isn't a lot left of the old castle, but it is in a nice, elevated position overlooking the "new" Salisbury Cathedral. We spent an hour or so looking around the ruins and admiring the lovely autumnal colours in the surrounding countryside. There is a small shop on site, it sells the usual memorabilia and EH stuff (always seems to be a new mead variation to buy). The staff members were friendly and helpful, we had a pleasant conversation. About 25 car parking places, the road up to it is quite steep and narrow, but there are passing points on every corner.
Brian M — Google review
One of my favourite days out, this place had such beautiful views, great history and the people who worked here were very welcoming, up for a chat and overall friendly, also got some ice cream which i was quite happy they had a decent amount of vegan options. You can easily spend a good few hours here just walking around and reading everything, even just sat relaxing. Great place for dogs to come and run about, even children and it was fun watching the sky divers. i'd love to revisit here in the future. (For anyone wondering, you pay for the small middle part over the bridge, all the outer bits you can walk around for free)

River Bourne Community Farm CIC is a charming working farm located just a short walk from The Red Lion Hotel Salisbury. It offers an educational and entertaining experience for kids, allowing them to interact with farmyard animals while learning about conservation and sustainability. Visitors can also purchase fresh produce from the on-site farm shop. The farm is open on select days and entry is free for everyone, although donations are appreciated to support the upkeep of the animals.
It's free to enter, but they kindly ask for a donation for the feed, which offcourse goes back to running of the farm and feeding the animals. Really amazing little place, perfect for taking the kids and family to. The farm shop is decently priced as expected and doesn't break the bank account! Highly recommend 👌
Jay C — Google review
Super lovely little place! Popped in at the recommendation of my friend as it's free and it's definitely somewhere I would pay to go. We paid for a pot of animal feed which our 2 year old loved feeding to the animals. Will 100% be back soon.

Took my nearly 3 year old granddaughter. Lovely little farm with a variety of friendly animals. The cafe was great too. Will definitely visit again.
Mzk90 — Google review
For a free community farm it is excellent and the children had a great time feeding the animals. The volunteer staff were amazing and answered all our Grandsons questions. Only negative, that we were told we couldnt eat in the cafe as our grandson (ASD) only eats certain foods so we always take with us, but this couldnt be eaten in the cafe as it wasnt allowed. Although myself, husband and grandaughter were going to buy lunch we were told to find a picnic bench and they do take away. I understand no picnic food in the cafe but this showed little understanding and acceptance for a child with special needs surrounding food. Very disppointing. However a wonderful staff member moved a picnic bench away from the Hallowen display so he could enjoy his experience of the farm.
Andrea M — Google review
Lovely place to take the children to visit the farm animals, birds (including birds of prey) and small animals (rabbits, guinea pigs etc). Quite small, don't expect to be there for hours. They have a nice little coffee shop. Animal feed readily available for £1 to support the farm. They ran a fantastic 'young farmers club' for a few days during the summer holidays.
Mark M — Google review
This is a wonderful community farm. Jane and the team are really friendly. We had our son's birthday in the straw barn and they got the old tractor out for photos, plus we had a lovely tour of the farm and animals. And you can walk around for free!
S M — Google review
Such a lovely place to visit and experience a working farms day. Cafe is really lovely and the people that work there so friendly a good selection of local produce too.
Fay F — Google review
Been here many times, always donate when we go and it fills a couple of hours in the day. You can feed some of the animals, there are a range of bird and small animals like rabbits to look at close up and they have birds of prey to look at either in their housing or if you time it right flying in the field. Not much shade, so take a hat and sun block in the summer.

Wilton House is a grand country manor located just three miles from Salisbury, and it's the ancestral home of the Earl of Pembroke. This stately home boasts an internationally important art collection featuring works by renowned artists such as Rembrandt, van Dyke, and Brueghel. The estate also offers an adventure playground for visitors to enjoy and a cafe to relax in.
Beautiful place. I only visited the gardens (and the cafe) but it was gorgeous. Lovely walk in peace and quiet. Might be less quiet with a lot of kids around and can't say anything about the interior of the house.
Christina W — Google review
Visited Wilton House as a break from driving from Cornwall to Kent. Not far from A303. An absolutely delightful house. The 10 or so rooms open were delightful. I could literally be locked in one for a day and wouldn't be able to take it all in. Great car museum too. For children the park was amazing and children were playing in the river. It was a warm day and watching the children play whilst parent sat on the banks eating picnic there was something for everyone. The restaurant was a little pricey but the food was excellent quality so happy to pay a little more and the restaurant itself was lovely.
Mary-Jane R — Google review
This would have been given 5 stars if it was not for one thing… the guide for the house tour, if you end up with Sue Eastham as your guide you are in for a treat but not in the way you hoped, it’s as if someone went to finishing school and did not finish, she was very condescending towards people almost belittling. This is less of a house tour and that of an art tour. We could hear other guides showing around and people were laughing and enjoying themselves but on our tour you could see people could not wait for it to be over. We was told it was a 30min tour and it lasted over an hour which was not great in the heat. When we raised this with her we was almost told off like being a naughty child just like the time we wanted to take a photo and was told we was holding the tour up… so we joined the front of the tour and was you guessed it told off for going to far in front of her… can you see what’s coming next we stood in the middle and was told to get out of the way as we was blocking her and everyone else’s view. I felt like a prisoner at the end, one of the group wanted to leave early (yes it was this bad) and you not what’s coming she was told off for wanting to do that. I came away early from here as a result of feeling unwelcome. Word of advice… read the room and the people around you when giving your tour! No one was even allowed time for questions as supposedly there was not enough time. It’s a shame that a pretentious tour guide ruined what was a rather warm and welcoming start to the experience!
Dean H — Google review
Athough the garden/park area disappointed - few flowers and the roses needed pruning, the house is well worth a visit, or the bit you are allowed into anyway. Dozens of statues and busts as well a walls covered with paintings, many by well-known artists of the past. Staff available in nearly every room for information. There is also a display of the owners expensive car collection.
Batman51 — Google review
An amazing house that's a favourite of film crews having featured in The Crown and Bridgerton amongst many others. Advance bookings not necessary. I recommend one of the hour long guided tours of the house as there is so much interesting history and many artworks which are highlighted. The cafe is delightful and the food very good. Well worth a visit.
Jan H — Google review
Wilton House is quite lovely. We were given a guided tour, where the history of the house and family was related. There was quite a lot to see, but we didn't feel rushed. The grounds of Wilton House are bordered on one side by the river. There's plenty of space to walk or to have a picnic. The prices in the coffee shop are, as you might expect, on the high side (£16 for two pieces of cake and two coffees). For the little ones, there's a fabulous adventure playground. All in all, a lovely relaxing day out.
Frances O — Google review
Wilton was somewhere I had been meaning to visit for ages so last weekend we decided to utilise our Historic Houses membership and make the trip. Once you reach Wilton, the house is well signposted and there is a large car park. We visited the formal gardens first before watching the film about the history of Wilton and its owners. This was rather good - it only lasts 15 minutes - and gave a good potted history of the people and events that have shaped the house. Next to the film room was the storage area for the Earl's car collection. I didn't even know that existed so it was a nice surprise and there were lovely descriptions of some of the early cars. From there we moved on to the house itself. I usually have limited interest for the interiors of stately homes but the combination of the Roman statue collection at the entrance and the fabulously engaging guides in each room meant we spent a lot longer looking around the house than normal. Nex stop was a circuit of the gardens to see the famous Palladian bridge and the woodland walk and then ending in the cafe. This had equally excellent staff and a nice menu to refresh us before our drive home. A wonderful visit.
Marcus H — Google review
Poor signage to find the car park from the road and surprised to find guide was mandatory to see the house. Gardens ok with good playground for children. Staff and food at cafe were good and guide was excellent Well worth a visit

Fisherton Mill Gallery | Cafe | Studios is a unique establishment located in a Victorian grain mill that has been transformed into a vibrant collection of businesses. It stands out as the crown jewel of Salisbury, offering an award-winning cafe, the largest independent art gallery in the South West region, and various creative shops to explore. The Gallery Cafe is renowned for its seasonal menu and accommodation of dietary preferences. Additionally, the studios upstairs house individual outlets showcasing diverse crafts such as sustainable fashion, garden design, and jewelry.
This establishment has a hybrid personality. There is a fine offering of artworks on offer plus tourist trinkets. It is so full (almost over packed) that it is hard to differentiate all the different offerings. A well spent afternoon.

The cafe - which covers a large space inside and a courtyard outside - is an oasis of calm. We had coffees - which were excellent - and admired the fantastic looking cakes. We had just eaten so didn't have room but I will make sure I do next time 😁 I was very impressed by the shop area next to the cafe. It's full of beautiful handmade items at very reasonable prices. I think I could find a gift for pretty much anyone I know here, plus there's a wall of lovely cards covering pretty much every occasion - so it has all the bases covered for present buying.

I eet lunch here fairly often, probably every 2-3 months. The menu changes regularly, and there's always something I want to eat, that I haven't had before, and it has always tasted good. Freshly prepared salads, quiches, soups, and last time I had a salt beef bagel. Typically costs about £15-20 per head.
Nick G — Google review
I don't think I've ever eaten in a cafe where the staff have been so polite and helpful. The cafe here is a very pleasant place to stop for a bite to eat. We sat outside with our dog and the table service was really prompt. We also had a look inside at the wonderful shop selling a variety of crafts.

A very interesting collection of business in the old mill buildings very nice cafe selling sweet and savory food .and drinks. Inside and outside seating. Artisan shops of all types. Used book shop .picture framing shop. And a number of different art galleries and instructional classes. Toilets. And pay carpark a short walk away. Also short walk to the railway station.

Former Mill now housing a wide variety of crafts and cafe on the ground floor together with a series of craft artists in small workshops with displays upstairs. The floor upstairs is very uneven as much of the original character of the building has been maintained. Lovely atmosphere.

Harnham Water Meadows is a picturesque nature reserve located in Salisbury, England. It offers guided walking tours and stunning views of the historic Salisbury Cathedral. The meadows, which date back to the 19th century, were originally used for agricultural purposes and now serve as a sanctuary for various wildlife, including rare bird species and small mammals. Visitors can explore the area on foot or by bike, taking in the serene atmosphere and beautiful scenery.
Harnham water meadows are situated either side of a public footpath linking the city centre to Harnham via the old mill. Therefore access is always available. However during times of flooding the footpath can be under water. The water meadows are designated as an area of natural beauty and walking through them with views of the cathedral can be breathtaking. Not to be missed.

This is a large area of managed wetlands with drainage channels throughout. There is a single path, fenced off from the meadows that joins Salisbury centre to Harnham Mill. There are some good but distant views of the cathedral, and a few signs referring to Constable, who may have painted neer here.

A beautiful nature retreat, in Salisbury, ideal for a leisurely stroll along the River Avon—especially enchanting on a warm summer day when a refreshing dip or paddle in the river feels just right. In the distance, the spire of Salisbury Cathedral peeks through the landscape, adding a touch of wonder to the view. After exploring, the Old Mill pub, dog friendly, beckons with its charming riverside garden—an idyllic spot to unwind with a drink or enjoy a bite to eat after your walk. Highly recommend this spot for a visit.

Salisbury Arts Centre, located in Salisbury, Wiltshire, England, is a vibrant cultural complex offering a diverse range of entertainment. Established around 30 years ago and run by Wiltshire Creative, this venue hosts live theatre performances, music concerts, comedy shows, art exhibitions and arthouse films. Additionally, it features workshops and family events to engage the community with the arts. The center also collaborates with local events such as the Larmer Tree Festival.
I returned to Salisbury Arts Centre to watch the final rehearsal of Louise Jordan's new one woman show, "Behind Enemy Lines" the venue was, as expected, well prepared. There's good access for those with disbilities and seating available in the cafe whilst waiting for doors. The bar has a good range of drinks, including low to no. Access into the main arts space was easy and there is reasonable space between the rows to get in and out. Both the sound and lighting were excellent, as was the performance.
Neil K — Google review
Great venue for live comedy, especially with the big names who stop off here to try out material. bar isnt cheap, and theatre interval ice creams (my favorite point of a trip out) are a bit hit or miss as to being on sale or not. beautiful venue, nice gallery and the audience is never far from the stage

Nestled in the heart of Salisbury, the Cross Keys Shopping Centre offers a delightful blend of shopping experiences. One unique aspect of this centre is its historical Jacobean staircase, adding an unexpected touch of character to your shopping adventure.

An attractive small shopping mall that is enclosed inside many nice medieval timber houses. The mall offers a few independent shops along with some big labels. There are plenty of choices for food and drinks either inside nor very nearby. If you visit by car, the closest public carpark will be the council run car park on Salt Lane and slightly further on Brown Street. Both car parks accept payment by contactless credit cards or phone app (mipermit if I remember correctly).
Samuel L — Google review
I think Cross Keys is perhaps the most diverse mall in the whole of Salisbury. Within the same shopping centre, there's TK Maxx for example that caters to clothing and home essentials, there's a Fragrance Shop, a pet Shop, an Art Gallery/shop, a Barbershop, there's Warhammer for action and superhero fans, there's Ryman which caters to stationeries and Subway to grab a quick bite. The Centre is right at the City Centre and overlooks the Salisbury City Council building and the adjoining ground which hosts the Salisbury Market on Saturdays and various activities through out the year. The Centre offers a complete shopping experience and this is why we keep going back.

Wonderfully interesting walking tour led by David. An hour and a half which was both entertaining and informative. Salisbury is a lovely city, beautiful cathedral, huge market in the square on the Saturday, good shopping snd lots of places to eat and drink. Walks along the river too so something for everyone.

We took this tour at the start of August with a lovely woman. It was SO informative and interesting. We saw and heard about things we certainly would have missed if we were exploring on our own. Highly recommend.
Lydia R — Google review
We had a great tour with Phil Richards that ended up being just me and my husband and our wiggly toddler. Having just a short time to spend in Salisbury, it was a great overview of the city that started with some info at the visitor centre, and explored the heart of the city and ended with the Cathedral. Highlights include the Doom painting in St Thomas, the cinema with a much much older history, and a lot of other places we would have walked by or missed the history of!
